Hear me out. Let me have the soapbox for just a few minutes.
I‘ve just penned a post about how a specific subset of men refuse to listen to or take women seriously. The comments just proved what I was saying. This is a highly-recorded and well-documented phenomenon. sources will be provided at the bottom of the post. I know this happens to men on other subs. It sucks. But this isn’t what the topic of discussion is today. I’d request you make your own post on the topic as it is a very valid issue that does need to be heard. Anyway, I was complaint about how my little brother and father are completely disrespectful and dismissive towards my mom, taking her pain as some sort of joke. I posted about one example out of many that happen daily: “My little brother did this to my mother on mother’s day. My father saw him opening cards with his teeth. he thought it was gross and told him to stop. He did so immediately.
A few minutes later, he started using his hands to get ice out of my motherl’s ice machine. My mother is neurodivergent and sensitive to certain things, so she was visibly distressed and told him to stop. He didn’t listen to her. He did it three more times and wouldn’t stop. It wasn’t until the rest of my family joined in that he would actually do something.“
The comments were on fire. Save for a few that actually got me, people acted in a way that was a little demoralizing. I see this nigh daily on Reddit. It’s not even remotely new. Over many years across multiple different accounts, this phenomenon has only gotten worse. It’s happened towards both men and women. However, today’s discussion is focusing on women, so please don’t derail.
the first comment I got was disrespectful and immediately brought up men, isninuating that what I was talking about wasn't at all valid. As if I can’t take two seconds to talk about women’s issues without someone bringing up men. Another comment‘s first instinct was to inquire whether my mom was abusive. Yeah, when my mother gets disrespected, it’s HER fault. Even if she brings it up constantly and everyone ignores her, she’s the problem guys! It’s her! Why is it these people’s first thought to pin it on the person being disadvantaged? Just accept that some people suffer in some ways in society.
for example, men don’t have very many support systems. That needs to change, obviously. It brings about a lot of unneeded pain for men young and old and contributes to heaps and heaps of silent frustration. Simultaneously, women aren’t respected or taken seriously in many contexts by men, disproportionately. Women can have a voice, they can speak up, but no one listens. Again, this is pretty well documented and is corroborated in the sources I provided below. I’m not just pulling this out of my ass.
or it’s just because how my father was raised! Maybe my father was raised in a tough environment and doesn't know better after his nigh 50 years of life! Accountability, am I right? Throw it out the window.… Despite the fact that it was my mother came from a much, much worse upbringing, and she’s among the kindest people I know. Apparently, it’s her job to teach a grown ass man to respect her. My father is a very capable and intelligent human being. It’s an insult to him to insinuate that he somehow doesn’t have the autonomy or capability to check his behavior. He does. he’s a good person, too. It’s just sometimes he can be highly disrespectful towards my mother. That’s all.
Another comment cared to “point out” that apparently, I’m the problem. My entire comment history is supposedly complaining about men. Apparently people who bring up inequalities faced by women has to be a woman, too… and a man-hating one, at that.
yeah. Everyone is the problem, excluding those who constitute the ostensible issue. Blame it on other people.
In sum, the vast majority of the comments sought to justify the behavior immediately, blame it on my mother, or insinuate I was the issue. Only one or two people had their head on their shoulders in my comment section.

While inside the fortress, hell was breaking loose, so was it outside. Despite losing their leaders on most fronts, the pirates have successfully defeated most of the navy. The damage done to the docks, the warehouses and the training grounds left them unrepairable. What wasn’t destroyed by the invaders was washed away in the tide, risen by Ainsworth.
However, the losses on the opposite side were severe as well. The, around a hundred most skilled, pirates recruited have mostly fallen and only a handful remained. Opposing the navy’s thousands of soldiers, this was quite the result, but they haven’t survived everything yet. Along with the beam of light came scorching heat outside, killing those who remained, setting everything on fire.
The only two far away enough not to burn to death were the two who were lying outside the prison, unable to move. Due to the sheer amount of energy released, they woke up to the island around them burning. Not having any options to protect themselves they started chatting:

So I’m gonna explain what my situation is and I need advice very badly.. my gf 16F and me 18M have been talking for about 10 months now and have been dating for 4 and we are deeply in love, I was fine with her family and we all got along until my gfs sister got mad at her and twisted a story about me and got her whole family turned against me.. her brother tried to break in my house, they are attempting to get a restraining order on me too.. in the meantime my gf is trying to be with me but her mom isn’t allowing it, she has ran away twice and doesn’t know what to de because her mom won’t let her see me, we both want to be together and she is moving with her grandpa to get emancipated from her mom, but if they get the restraining order on me is there a way I could fight it? Or some type of legal loophole I could use to be with her? I’m desperate anything that won’t get me put in jail I am up for.. I need feedback asap, her and her mom have a very bad relationship and I want her out of there and she wants to leave too but her mom is her guardian so I don’t know what to do. All advice welcome anything I can do lmk.
TL;DR : my girlfriends parents won’t let her see me because they don’t like me and we want to be with each other, i need some way that we can get around it. She doesn’t want to be with her mom anymore so any advice is welcome. I really need it.

About me: M, 5’7”, 135 lb, heel-to-midfoot strike depending on pace. I’m a slow middle-aged runner doing 30-35 mpw. My typical pace ranges from low 8-minute to 9:30 per mile, depending on how I feel that day. I don’t pay attention to HR zones. I run mostly for physical and mental health benefits, and very rarely race or train for races, so this may be completely irrelevant to you! But I need a place to deposit my thoughts as much as anyone else, so thanks for bearing with me.
The Contenders
Adidas Adizero Boston 12, aka the Timothy Chalamet of Running Shoes—A comely twink with a stupendous range of abilities, rabid fan base, and a tiny, tiny waist.
Saucony Endorphin Speed 4, aka the Matt Damon of Running Shoes—Goes from everyman to action here and back, all day long. Worth every bit of his fee.
I lucked into a half-off deal for the Boston 12s and have over 160 miles on my pair. I really love the way these shoes bounce and roll. The balance of softness, firmness, and response from the foam is as magical as many have already said. But I have a high-volume midfoot, which is exactly the spot where the Boston 12 gets super narrow. I switched to Lock Laces and keep them on the looser side, but even at this mileage, I’m still in not-trivial pain for the first 1-2 miles before I can actually settle in and run without thinking “ow, my feet.”
I’ve taken the Endorphin Speed 4s on two runs now, total of 17 miles, and it feels like there is a whole galaxy’s worth of additional space in the midfoot. Toebox is a little cramped, but it still felt fine throughout an 11-mile run. The rocker initially felt a bit further forward / “later” than the Boston 12’s, and the heel is also bulkier and less beveled, so it doesn’t have the quite the same ultra-smooth roll. But that difference is fairly subtle, and I look forward to seeing how the ride evolves as I put more miles on them (it seems like a “break-in period” is de rigueur for a lot of the newest foams). PowerrunPB is plenty bouncy, cushioned, and fairly firm, but not as firm as the Boston’s Lightstrike combo out-of-the-box. It’s also noticeably lighter than the Boston. My only gripe, and a minor one at that, is that I wish the heel weren’t as wide/flared. I get that people like stability in their super trainers, but it’s borderline clunky and makes me miss the Speed 2.
Verdict: I’ve given the Boston 12 all I could, and I still think it’s a glorious shoe for running far or fast, or both. But I just can’t live with the pinch. My feet deserve better than this abusive relationship. Time will tell if this new partner has the flexibility to accommodate me and my individualities. ;)

Hi all. Pretty much the title but some more context.
My (ex)parents and I are NC since the pandemic.
Lots of dark stuff happened, but the easiest explanation for me rn is that the final straw is we are politically at odds, and they can't accept me as a Democrat.
my dad would take my mail-in ballot and vote for me. If I didn't sign it, he would forge it. Because of the pandemic I voted differently from them, and my parents were deeply unhappy with my choice.
I can't put the full blame on the ballot; it was simply the straw that broke the camel's back. There were lots of other issues and hands down it was the best decision to leave the family for my physical/mental health and safety.
I got a job and moved out. About a year later, my dad sent me a box with old shirts, photos, and a purse.
He had taken all the photographs and scratched out all of the faces. Some were torn in half. No note. Just ripped up polaroids and a broken family.
Anyway. I like my job, I like my coworkers. We are cool with each other but we're not close. I don't have any coworker I can explain this to.
The problem is our HR rep really wants everyone to submit a baby photo. And literally everyone else on my team is gonna have one but me, so it's super awkward if I don't. (Our team is 5 people)
But I don't have any baby pictures. My parents destroyed them, literally, there's nothing I can salvage.
What should I do? Submit a fake one? Don't submit at all and ignore HR? Pretend I didn't see HRs three reminder emails? I feel really awkward explaining this to HR. And again even if she understood, it's still gonna be hella awkward when they pull up the PowerPoint and I'm not there.

I'm going to go with a mix of advice here. I'm reaching out to a friend who is a little more familiar with my situation to get a "fake" photo for the sake of getting this PowerPoint over with. If it doesn't work out, I'll try a website to de-age myself, which would be good since it's not technically lying.

A série de jogos de corrida do encanador da Nintendo é ótima para jogar com os amigos e se tornou um ritual em qualquer encontro com um Switch. Mario Kart tem uma fórmula simples: você acelera com o objetivo de completar as três voltas, enquanto usa power-ups para te ajudar ou atrapalhar os inimigos. Esse formato funcionou bem nas primeiras edições, mas o desafio sempre foi como inovar dentro desse molde. Ao longo dos anos a Nintendo EPD, estúdio responsável pelos títulos da franquia, se especializou em criar mapas cada vez mais icônicos e diferentes para renovar o sentimento de novidade.
MK8 (Mario Kart, não Mortal Kombat) foi o jogo que entendeu que não tem como segurar o público para sempre só lançando mapas novos, e por isso o projeto dele é massivo. É o maior jogo da história da franquia, com 96 pistas, mas que acima de tudo, se mantém pelo fator nostalgia. Para você, qual é a pista mais icônica da história de Mario Kart?
Se você respondeu Rainbow Road, parabéns, você está certo! A versão Deluxe tem cinco versões dessa mesma pista (Wii, 3DS, N64, SNES e uma original), e isso se repete para diversos outros mapas. Para cada fase original de MK8 Deluxe, existem outros três remakes icônicos, ao ponto de parecer mais uma versão definitiva da franquia do que algo propriamente novo.

Mario Kart 9 já sai atrás na largada

Agora sem poder usar a cartada de remakes e remasters de pistas de novo e com o sucessor do Switch batendo na porta, a Nintendo começa a ter poucas opções para sair dessa rua sem saída. A primeira, e menos provável, é acabar com a linearidade da franquia e criar um Mario Kart Live Service, um único jogo que será atualizado constantemente e se manterá ativo em diferentes plataformas, como uma espécie de HUB para acessar todos os títulos da franquia.
A outra opção que enxergo é esquecer a nostalgia e apostar em uma mudança para o clássico formato de corridas arcade, adicionando alguma mecânica no estilo Mario Kart: Double Dash, lançado em 2003 para GameCube. Na época, o jogo estreava dois personagens em cada Kart: o primeiro responsável por dirigir e o segundo por usar itens. Dependendo da dupla que o jogador escolhesse, novos power-ups específicos eram liberados, e todos os corredores podiam roubar poderes dos outros a qualquer momento.
Esses recursos adicionais mudaram a forma de se jogar um simples game de corrida, mas ainda mantiveram toda a estrutura clássica de um Mario Kart para os jogadores casuais. Era a mistura perfeita, algo novo sem perder o modelo de sucesso, e talvez seja exatamente disso que a franquia precise daqui para frente. Não espero que a Nintendo faça um Mario Kart: Double Dash 2 ou um remake do original, apesar de amar o conceito e achar que o jogo mereça uma melhoria para a gameplay datada. No entanto, espero ver algum tipo de função nova que torne o jogo empolgante de novo.
Por mais que nada tenha sido confirmado, com a chegada do console sucessor do Nintendo Switch, é provável que uma nova obra dessa franquia já esteja sendo produzida. No entanto, com os rumores de retrocompatibilidade entre os dois consoles, a Nintendo tem um desafio a mais: fazer o jogador migrar do MK8 Deluxe para um possível novo título. Depois de pagar pelo Season Pass (Booster Course Pass) e ter acesso a todos os sucessos que fizeram a franquia chegar até aqui, precisamos de um estímulo muito maior do que o normal para desapegar dos últimos 10 anos de história.

At the risk of sounding arrogant, I consider myself to be at least marginally more intelligent (both academically & socially) than the average person. Therefore, if I ever decided to suddenly risk prison time, risk my reputation, and risk enduring the wrath of modern-day “cancel culture” by scamming people out of their money:

• I certainly wouldn’t do it for such paltry amounts of money. (i.e., anything less than $1,000 per victim.)
• I certainly wouldn’t choose high school & college students as my “target audience” to scam, considering that most people without college degrees have abysmally low annual incomes. Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
• I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. Before I start ranting, I want to tell you the background first. I used to work at this target location and transferred to a different target location because I had some qualms about a team lead in my previous target location. I’ve already talked to HR about my concerns on this particular team lead but they would not do anything about it. Many people who worked in that specific target location also has reported about this TL because of how bad they are treated. They care more about how they appear, rather than their workers. I was tired of standing up for myself without result so I decided that maybe, transferring to a different target location would be better for me mentally.
I now work at a different location and thought it was getting better. There is a team member, I’ll call her Bk, and a Team Lead, I’ll call her Cl. Cl was a new team leader at this current target so I thought the environment would be great here and Bk is a regular team member, just like me, getting paid the same wage but acts like a team leader. I unknowingly gave Cl my phone number so I can talk about my availability. Mind you, when I transferred, so did my records of what my availability was.
On my off day(Tuesday), Cl called me. I was asleep during this time after I’ve been doing chores. I like to plan out my day off doing laundry, cooking, dishes, and deep cleaning. I was tired and was physically sleeping so how would I have known to pick up that phone call. It was my off day too, so I thought it wouldn’t matter right? No.
The next day, I come in for work and she berates me on not picking up that phone call. This was my second day in this new store so I’m newly hired. Cl questions my capabilities. She told me “since I’m a team lead, I would’ve definitely picked up that phone call, I don’t understand why you couldn’t do the same. I was calling you so that you can come in that day”. I calmly explained to her that I was sleeping and I do sincerely apologize for not picking up that phone call. She reiterates the fact that I should’ve picked up the phone call because she would’ve done the same.
It was my day off, I wasn’t scheduled so I assumed that it wasn’t going to be a big deal. My naive self felt defeated and I decided to talk about it to Bk because she seemed genuinely nice to me. Oh boy, that was a bad idea. I asked her, is it normal for managers to be calling us on our days off? Bk backs up Cl’s intentions as wanting us to make more money. After that day, I decided to stick by Cl’s words of, whatever I do, I hope she does the same back to me.
And after that day, Bk makes passive aggressive comments to me. Bk and Cl are two peas in a pod. Bk being Cl’s little sidekick. I made the biggest mistake confiding in Bk.
I prefer texting over phone calls because I can keep a record of what people say to me rather than phone calls. Due to past bad job experiences, I thought that I now know better. I was wrong. I don’t know how to handle passive aggressiveness and I still don’t know how to handle people guilt tripping me.
There were so many passive aggressive comments made by Bk after that day. I know very well what they sound like now because of my team lead in my previous target. One was about my insecurities. Sometimes I don’t wear makeup to work because I feel so demotivated and I know I have acne. She asked me “Do pimple patches work?”, on two separate occasions. The first time she asked I thought that she was genuinely curious. The second time she asked, I knew something was off because I never wore pimple patches that day. I realized that she was making passive aggressive comments about my face full of acne while she was pouting on about her one pimple on her forehead.
Another time she made a passive aggressive comment was when she asked if I would stay longer. I told her I was tired and as much as I would love to get some hours in, I really needed a de-stress from all the stress at work. She asked me “how am I going to make that bread if I’m tired?”. I don’t know why this comment especially made me feel bad but that day, I was so exhausted. I wanted to go home and be alone. That day was also Mother’s Day, so it was an especially long day. I’m not close with my mother and she kicked me out of the house so I felt especially lonely that day and just wanted to be home. I did not have any other excuse besides being tired. She just rolled her eyes at me. Mind you, we’re not close at all, I don’t think she considers me as her friend, I don’t consider her as my friend but she tried to pull it off as a joke.
Cl also asked me to stay longer. I assumed that she wanted me to stay longer to fix her mistake. Target workers who are reading this know to always change the capacities when filling the floor. When Cl back-stocked a plethora of graphic tees to the back, she did not change the capacities and unfortunately it had to be pulled back to the floor. She made the excuse of the system being weird.
I have made this same mistake at the previous target location so I know what actually happened, and I was berated by my team lead at the other target, so I did not want to make Cl feel bad knowing that I know it was her fault. Even though I know that it was her fault I did my best and not made her feel bad about it. I ended up working on fixing that mistake half of the day of that shift. She asked me to stay longer and I couldn’t because I was just so tired. I felt bad for not being able to stay longer. The next day she asked me to come in earlier than my supposed shift time. I came in earlier because I know she would make me feel guilty. I said no to staying longer yesterday so I decided to say yes to coming in early for today because I feel guilty.
I’m so tired of feeling depressed coming to work and feeling more depressed coming home. What should I do?
