Readers beware, this is a long one. I don’t really know what I’m looking for. Advice? Words of encouragement for a depressed teacher? Or just survival tips. Honestly, I appreciate any input.
I’m a kindergarten teacher with a class of 20. Of the 20, 5 are on behavior plans. Since returning from spring break, one of my behavior students has been continually getting worse.
He will throw items, rip things, and destroy things throughout the classroom. He has been hitting other students at recess and lunch, wandering out of the classroom without my knowledge, and taking things that belong to other students and destroying them.
Since returning from spring break, this has been happening daily. He wanders around the room and will destroy anything in his path. If a child tries to intervene and stop him (before I can get to him), he will try to hit the child. One day, when I had a sub, he took a whiteboard and hit 3 students in the head with it.
Today, the student hit a few students out of anger on the playground. His recess monitor took him to the principals office afterwards. His recess monitor told me that he had been hitting students at lunch and recess. For wherever reason, the admin was not aware that he had hit other students. She ended up dropping him off in my room and about 5minutes later then, he started to rip apart one of his books and throw it.
My school has aba support. I am so thankful for them and they have done so much to help. Aba has told me that when this behavior occurs I can page them for help, especially because sometimes he begins to escalate and get violent. So, I paged for help from them. Before they could get to me, the same AP that just had him in her office comes in. Immediately asking what the trigger was, I replied by saying I asked him to get his journal (that was it). Then, aba came in. I explained the situation and tried to tell the AP about what the recess monitor had shared with me, but she cut me off by saying, “excuse me! I am talking to her right now”, I tried to add in again what the recess monitor had shared with me and continued to raise her voice at me.
I felt attacked. My admin is horrible and part of the reason I am leaving my horrid school district. I’ve never felt supported by them, they will talk about me negatively, and are horrible people. This incident was the cherry on top of the cake.
Someone please give me words of advice on how to survive the rest of the year. I go until mid June. I’m falling apart. I don’t know what to do with this behavior kid and I do not feel comfortable reaching out to admin. A coworker suggested that I have a meeting with this admin to discuss this interaction today, but is it even worth it?

Kids in elementary schools are receiving chromebooks, ipads, and even laptops. This is even the case for my own situation, in which I was given a chromebook for assignments in fifth grade. However, schools have continued to implement handwriting practice into daily routines, and for what reason? The opinions are starting to sway against teaching handwriting skills, however. Teachers themselves are stating that they believe we need to do away with the practice and “move on”(Source A). It is not only an individual basis level, however, as even forty one states have implemented courses that omit cursive from their curriculum as a whole(Source A). The fact that not only individuals are rebelling against this “archaic [...] communication” but also a majority of states on a national level are doing so highlights how change is what the nation wants. Specifically, technology is making the teachings of handwriting obsolete. The keyboard allows students to be “quicker on the keyboard” and can help them be “better writers as handwriting takes up less of their education”(Source C). Others agree with this sentiment that doing away with handwriting can give more time for education in other subjects too. For example, some articles are saying that handwriting is taking away time that could be better prioritized for “essential life-skills” like finance and programming(Source E). Ever since the day my kid was born, the focus has always been on mom. How’s mom, what can we do for mom, is dad doing enough for mom and the baby. Ok fine, I stepped up as much as I could without falling over from exhaustion. It got to a point where I was falling asleep at the wheel and the swerving one ride made her realize and she made me back off dad duties a bit.
Fast forward 2 years:
I travel for work and am probably away 20-25 nights total throughout the year with 4 night stretches at a time max. Because of my travel I feel guilty and am made to feel guilty (indirectly) to be away from home any additional nights. So I don’t go to any social events and as such don’t have any friends besides a few school ones that live in various distant parts of the country and don’t get to see them anyway. When I am home/not working I do 100% of bed time routine and 95% of morning duties. My wife is free to go out during evenings and make plans whenever she wants which she does a few times per month. I take 100% care of the animals, typical guy allocated duties such as yard work, garbage, home maintenance is all me and we split laundry/cooking 75(her)/25(me) and she typically does all the cleaning because she “doesn’t like the way I do it”.
Because of that 75/25 these last couple weeks I was told that I am not capable of dealing with the toddler and keeping up with housework. She works in office 2x per week and takes him to daycare those days and I usually take him the other 3. She is getting a new male boss and was worried about our toddler making her late tomorrow to which I said not to worry and that I can take him. At which point I was “politely” informed by her that it’s the woman that does all the sacrifices and I simply wouldnt understand.
Well fuck me I guess then.
I feel defeated. Nothing is ever good enough any more. When I try to discuss that I am doing my part I get the typical “like what?”. I’ve tried providing examples and proof which simply gets dismissed. Or if it gets acknowledged, it gets forgotten about very quickly and the focus is returned on the things I’m not doing.
For the dads out there working your hands to the bone and losing sleep, I feel you. Sometimes our own families don’t give a shit about us and that will always be the harsh reality. At least they will think fondly of us when we are in the ground….maybe.

So this may be a bit of a ramble as I have many questions but I’ll keep it as brief as possible.
So, I just got my Bachelors in Sociology with a 3.79 gpa. I went to a large public university in the Midwest. I had planned on trying to get into HR but recently I have become really interested in Demography and population studies (I took a demography related class in the fall semester and a class specially about demography in the spring semester).
I took a few quantitative classes, and was a lab director for a research lab for a Social Psychology professor. Anyways, I think I want to try to get a job in demography. I realize I’ll need to go to graduate school.
Will I have a decent chance at landing a graduate assistantship so my degree can be free? What masters degree should I pursue? Is the job market looking good for this kind of degree? Would it hurt that I’m going to need to wait until the fall of 2025 to start since I didn’t become interested in graduate school until very recently? Also, if I decide to try to do this, what should I be doing from now until the fall of 2025 to help my chances of everything working out?
Again sorry for the long post and so many questions but I would greatly appreciate any help!

I had planned on trying to get into HR but recently I have become really interested in Demography and population studies (I took a demography related class in the fall semester and a class specially about demography in the spring semester).
I took a few quantitative classes, and was a lab director for a research lab for a Social Psychology professor. Anyways, I think I want to try to get a job in demography. I realize I’ll need to go to graduate school.
Will I have a decent chance at landing a graduate assistantship so my degree can be free? What masters degree should I pursue? Is the job market looking good for this kind of degree? Would it hurt that I’m going to need to wait until the fall of 2025 to start since I didn’t become interested in graduate school until very recently? Also, if I decide to try to do this, what should I be doing from now until the fall of 2025 to help my chances of everything working out?
Again sorry for the long post and so many questions but I would greatly appreciate any help!

This new company is now requesting info to run criminal & employment background checks though & I am worried I’ll fail it because my job with my parents has been off the books.
I actually worked this job, it is not a lie, and I’m sure the only reason I got this new offer is because I had that 1 year of relevant experience at the top of my resume, and was able to talk about my accomplishments in detail.
But what should I do for BGC purposes? Do leave it off of the BGC and risk getting questioned by HR on why I left it off? Do I report it and deal with it once I get flagged by the BGC company?
If flagged, what proof will I have? I don’t have W2s, paystubs, or 1099s. My parents would definitely vouch for me if called/emailed, but we have a unique last name that would be quite obvious. Please help!!

TLDR: My "mother" is a vile evil woman who has stolen from my grandma and nephew, committed crimes and exploited people, had me working at 15 to support the family while she did nothing, and lied to me so I wouldn't see my grandma on Mother's Day. I have a long post on my full story on another subreddit on my profile if you want more context.
My "mother" is a vile, awful person who has committed heinous and despicable acts. To make an extremely long story short, I grew up in an unstable household. My dad wasn't around and my mom was unwilling to work to support us. I was pawned off to my grandparents who lived with us, and they were more parents to me than my actual parents were. Everything my mom has done has been to fuel her ego, and as with many narcissists, to seek validation to reinforce her nonexistent identity outside external validation. She needs validation constantly on how young and beautiful she looks, how rich and great she is, and how she is an excellent and caring mom. Yet a good mother wouldn't have had me and my siblings and grandparents living in a former drug house infested with millions of roaches, rats, black mold, and on again off again running water and electricity. A good mom also wouldn't have sat around having parties and drinking while I, at 15 years of age and two senior citizens, broke our backs trying to sell and rent party supplies and carrying an 800 lb bounce house to customers that wanted to rent them. I worked at 15 like a Victorian boy instead of going to school trying to make ends meet because my parents wouldn't. My "mother" has done everything evil you can think of, from scamming and stealing from innocent people, catfishing other men (while with my stepdad), pretending to be my sister online for validation and money, forcing my sister to be a model and hook up with much older men for the promise of advancement (she was 17 and these men where in there 30s or older), spies on my widowed sister-in-law, had me living in deplorable conditions and having me eat old food infested with roaches and rat droppings, conducting illegal gambling business and money laundering, kept the fact that (some of) my siblings are adopted from them, baby trapped my stepdad, had little to no concern for my mental health and did not help or try to accommodate my sensory issues (I suspect I may have level 1 autism, mostly with sensory issues) and much, much, much more. I have been going to therapy and am currently doing emdr to undo the damage that my evil "mother" has done. She is a master of manipulation, love bombing, and buying people's love, loyalty, and affection. I, for the second time, have gone no contact with her.
Now that there's some context, my grandmother means everything to me. She lives in a convalescent home and my mom has control over her. I wanted to see her on Mother's Day. My mom asked if I was going to come to lunch. I said we were visiting my wife's mom, then coming to the house later at 5. She said that was not going to work because they were going to eat at 1. I said, OK well, if we can't do the restaurant, then take her to the house, so we can all visit her at 5. She said she couldn't do that, and why couldn't we just go to eat with them and then, IF there's time, we could go to my mother-in-law's house for a little bit. I said no, everything has been arranged already, and as usual you don't inform anyone of plans and expect everyone last second to cancel theirs and do yours. We were going to make my mother-in-law a priority, however, there was time for both. She got mad and said she would not be bringing my grandma to the house and I guess that was it. I said, well, I guess it is. On Mother's Day, I called my grandma, and she was upset and crying, asking why I hadn't seen her, and that she had come to visit the house. My mom took her to the house after lunch and didn't tell me. Neither did any of my other family. She said that she wanted to come back home and didn't want to live at the facility. She is fairly healthy and in reality, doesn't need to be at the facility. After talking to her, I confronted my mom and said that I explicitly told you that I wanted to see Grandma, and you said you were NOT bringing her to the house. You did bring her to the house and intentionally did not tell me. Because I did not bow down and follow your commands like everyone else, you deliberately orchestrated this, so I would not see her in an act of revenge to spite me. There was no reason you couldn't have called or texted and told me you were bringing her, especially after I told you I wanted to see her, even if it was at the last minute. It was an intentional act. She just said you are always talking shit about me. I told her it's not talking shit if it's true. She then hung up. This is what she does. If you don't follow the Führers command, bow at her feet, and tell her how wonderful and gracious she is, she will seek vengeance and do things to spite you, to bring glory for herself.
My grandma told me that my "mom" mistreats her, and is collecting pay from the government pretending to be her caretaker (when in reality my mom does absolutely nothing and has no job whatsoever. She dedicates her life to crime, fraud, and scams. She ran an underground casino with my stepdad and when they got busted my stepdad took the fall) but instead dumped her in a conversant home and does not care for her at all. Besides all that, my grandma also stated that she takes all of her social security money and keeps it. This is not surprising because my nephew, who is technically an orphan, having lost both parents recently, is under the custody of my horrible "mother" and he had some kind of inheritance left for him. When my "mother" discovered this, she swept in and wiped it clean. Her greed is deplorable. Wherever there is money, the Sheriff of Nottingham will do anything to get every last coin wherever she can get it. She even charges people $5 to use the washing machine. The most important thing to my "mother" is herself and her endless black hole of needing to be validated and praised, along with the endless black hole of greed. It is her entire identity. I am so enraged, and I can not let these things happen. When will my "mother" face consequences for her actions? She cannot continue to commit evil acts and not only get away with them but also prosper because of it. One of the worst parts, however, is that everyone, even if they have their problems with her, always goes along with what the dear leader says and continues to enable her by telling her she's a good mom and that they appreciate her. She needs to face consequences for her actions, but I don't know what to do. She can't continue to harm people and get away with it. I need help.

Wherever there is money, the Sheriff of Nottingham will do anything to get every last coin wherever she can get it. She even charges people $5 to use the washing machine. The most important thing to my "mother" is herself and her endless black hole of needing to be validated and praised, along with the endless black hole of greed. It is her entire identity. I am so enraged, and I can not let these things happen. When will my "mother" face consequences for her actions? She cannot continue to commit evil acts and not only get away with them but also prosper because of it. TLDR: My "mother" is a vile evil woman who has stolen from my grandma and nephew, committed crimes and exploited people, had me working at 15 to support the family while she did nothing, and lied to me so I wouldn't see my grandma on Mother's Day. My "mother" is a vile, awful person who has committed heinous and despicable acts. To make an extremely long story short, I grew up in an unstable household. My dad wasn't around and my mom was unwilling to work to support us. I was pawned off to my grandparents who lived with us, and they were more parents to me than my actual parents were. Everything my mom has done has been to fuel her ego, and as with many narcissists, to seek validation to reinforce her nonexistent identity outside external validation. She needs validation constantly on how young and beautiful she looks, how rich and great she is, and how she is an excellent and caring mom. Yet a good mother wouldn't have had me and my siblings and grandparents living in a former drug house infested with millions of roaches, rats, black mold, and on again off again running water and electricity. A good mom also wouldn't have sat around having parties and drinking while I, at 15 years of age and two senior citizens, broke our backs trying to sell and rent party supplies and carrying an 800 lb bounce house to customers that wanted to rent them. I worked at 15 like a Victorian boy instead of going to school trying to make ends meet because my parents wouldn't. My "mother" has done everything evil you can think of, from scamming and stealing from innocent people, catfishing other men (while with my stepdad), pretending to be my sister online for validation and money, forcing my sister to be a model and hook up with much older men for the promise of advancement (she was 17 and these men where in there 30s or older), spies on my widowed sister-in-law, had me living in deplorable conditions and having me eat old food infested with roaches and rat droppings, conducting illegal gambling business and money laundering, kept the fact that (some of) my siblings are adopted from them, baby trapped my stepdad, had little to no concern for my mental health and did not help or try to accommodate my sensory issues (I suspect I may have level 1 autism, mostly with sensory issues) and much, much, much more. I have been going to therapy and am currently doing emdr to undo the damage that my evil "mother" has done. She is a master of manipulation, love bombing, and buying people's love, loyalty, and affection. I, for the second time, have gone no contact with her.

I (24M) took a financial analyst job (remote, full-time) at my parent’s real estate company last year. I was changing fields, and was struggling to find a job in finance due to me not having a relevant undergrad major or experience, so they helped me out.
In exchange for my work, they have been paying for my grad school (~60k/year OOS tuition), providing free housing in one of their nearby rentals (~24k/year in lost income), free food, etc., so I’d say it has been more than fair.
In effort to to venture out on my own though, I’ve been applying to other jobs, and was recently offered a “financial analyst II” role at a F500 in my dream city.
This new company is now requesting info to run an criminal & employment background checks though & I am worried I’ll fail it because my job with my parents has been off the books.

But what should I do for BGC purposes? Do leave it off of the BGC and risk getting questioned by HR on why I left it off? Do I report it and deal with it once I get flagged by the BGC company?

In late 2022 I quit a job I had at a golf driving range after 3 and a half years there. I left for many reasons from feeling “behind in life” still there at age 23 to wanting to find an actual careeschool path. Ever since I’ve left the job I became dead broke after a few months and have since been relying on either my younger brother or my parents to give me money here and there. My boss there liked me a lot and has said I’m free to come back whenever I want. A few times he’s asked for me to come back but I kept giving lies like I found an out of state job or am working at a warehouse. I have a lot of mental blocks from going back there but I’m recently wrestling with whether I need to let go of my emotions and do what’s most logical. Having no money for this extended period of a time is taking a toll on my mental health and even though I started hating being there, the golf course added structure to my life. I also really don’t want to see some of the older guys I’d politely talk to there sometimes as one of them was kind of weird. As for why I haven’t found a proper career path yet well I’ve explored different options but still can’t figure out which works best for me. I live in a small town with not much opportunity as indeed is extremely dry in my surrounding area. The best alternative job I could get would be at an Amazon warehouse which I applied and had a prehire event for. I never worked there because shifts filled up and never opened since which was extremely frustrating. I also have a past of really bad mental health which has also delayed my life a lot as it made me drop out of highschool.
