Weak hamstring and glute muscles causing hip flexor pain

Severe stomach cramps

2024.05.14 17:24 green_crayon1 Severe stomach cramps

Started Truvada a bit more than 2 weeks ago. Exactly 2 weeks after, my stomach pain has been way too severe along with diarrhea, and some light muscle pain ALL DAY. It's been like this for 4 days straight so far and today makes day 5. Has anyone experienced this? I'm honestly thinking of stopping the medication cause it's too much to handle. Sex isn't even an option atm cause of the pain it's putting me through.

2024.05.14 17:24 Typical-Annual-7764 will this help me reach my goal?

hey everyone, so i’m new to working out and i want to slim my waist, grow my quads and glutes, and tone my arm and back. now i know u cannot spot reduce so i’m trying to see if i cracked the code 😂 so if i go on a calorie deficit, predominantly work and build my leg and glute muscles, and use dumbbells to tone my arms and back will that help me achieve my goal? also if you have any recommendations for me im all ears!! :)
** i know genetics play a huge roll so here are mine: my weight tends to be in my stomach, thighs, hips, and butt. most of my family on my mother’s side is very shapely especially in the hips and butt. im naturally skinnier due to the genetics on my fathers side but the women on that side are also shapely.

2024.05.14 17:14 Extendo10_08Capybara Ankles- Stretches to align the Peroneus brevis ligament/tendon

I (28M) have rolled both ankles on and off for the last 12 years. Started with one bad roll playing basketball in college and switched back and forth between ankles ever since. I'll roll my ankle walking, getting out of a golf cart, basically if I do anything without putting some attention to where my foot is going, they may roll. I joke that I have elastic ankles bc I'll roll it bad enough to have to either jump to catch myself from falling or knee to the ground, but the pain only lasts a few hours and I get back to even fairly quickly...
That said, within the last 2 months I've been experiencing a different pain that can be unbearable at times. I sit at a desk for work and apparently have an issue with crossing my feet while sitting. So that one ankle sits on the other. Anyway, after sitting for a bit I'll try to stand up or even just dorsey flex my feet bc they are feeling stiff, and I get a tremendous pain in the left outside part of the high ankle (L). I cannot walk and can barely even stand. I try to massage the ankle and stretch it out, but I have no idea what I'm doing and nothing is helping the pain. After enough time I do something with my foot whether it be shaking it or re-crossing the ankles to try to nix whatever I did, and the pain will just magically disappear with no residual pain or symptoms. It's astonishing.
I did some research at the online doctors office and believe it to be something related to the Peroneus brevis tendon or ligament. It says that sitting down can cause the ligament to "slip" from it's position. I don't know what to do to treat it other than going to a Ortho or PT, which I figure will either lead to surgery or recommended workouts. I'd rather do workouts on my own to strengthen the surrounding muscles. But in the meantime I would like some recommendations as to different potential stretches, massages, or cheat codes to re-align the ligament when it slips out of place. Much appreciated.

2024.05.14 16:48 Hemotep_000 Seeking Advice on Lower Back Pain After Adding New Exercises to My Routine

Hi All,
I've been dealing with neck and shoulder pain for a couple of years, which also caused nausea and headaches. Three months ago, I visited a physio who recommended adding rowing exercises and face pulls to my routine to strengthen my back. This worked wonders for my headaches and nausea, but I started experiencing lower back pain that got so bad I couldn't sit for more than 10 minutes.
The physio suggested strengthening my core and glutes, so I added dead bugs, clamshells, side planks, and bridges. This helped somewhat, allowing me to sit for 30-45 minutes before the pain returned, but it's still a significant issue.
I recently saw an osteopath who diagnosed me with anterior pelvic tilt. When I lay on my back with my legs straight, my entire hand can slide under my lower back until my wrist. The osteopath explained that rowing and face pulls might have worsened my condition. He suggested doing exercises on the floor with a flat back and using a flat bench when possible. I’ve made these changes, but after a week, I haven’t noticed significant improvement.
Has anyone else dealt with a similar issue? How did you resolve it? I don't feel like stretching my hip flexors is helping much. Am I on the right track and just need to be patient, or could my approach be wrong? Any advice would be appreciated!

2024.05.14 16:42 fredrickevilcow Upsetting ER visit

I went to my primary Dr yesterday about possible Ehlers-Danlos, but saw her NP. The NP put "chronic pain" in my chart then prescribed me Prednisone to see if that helped. Well I woke up this morning at about 4am in agonizing muscle pain. My pain is normally in my joints, so having full body Charlie horse feeling is definitely not normal. I was crying from the pain, which I never do. That was freaking out my husband so he took me to the ER. The ER doc was so dismissive. He said I have chronic pain in my chart so he didn't know what he could do about the pain now. I was still crying so my husband was trying to explain that it was new pain, maybe from the new script. The dr was like, "it sounds like she just slept bad, taking prednisone at night can cause bad sleep. Take it in the morning next time." He also wouldn't run any tests since they did bloodwork at the primary care yesterday. I'm not sure what my husband said but the dr finally agreed to look at some muscle enzyme or something in the blood. So they took blood and gave me fluids and iv Tylenol. It took 4 hours to feel like my muscles weren't on fire anymore and the Dr comes in and said "all the bloodwork is normal. Follow up with your primary care dr." (Which my husband did already via phone and they said definitely stop taking the prednisone) I haven't ever been to the ER, where I had "chronic pain" in my chart, so this was new to me and very upsetting. I felt like they weren't taking me seriously at all, or just didn't care. I don't know. I'm sure if I read through this sub I could find many similar stories, I just wanted to share mine.

2024.05.14 16:25 juneplum Surgery or no - how do you decide?

Hi friends. 33F for reference. Biggest symptoms pre-cortisone were groin pain, pretty bad muscle tightness all around the front of my right thigh and glute area, stiffness, and weakness/instability.
I had a cortisone injection 4/18 and it helped immensely - my pain is way less and I've been able to actually make progress in PT this time around. I haven't been able to gain strength in my glute for years, since long before I was having actual symptoms of FAI/labral tear. But after just 4 weeks, my physical therapist (the same one I've been going to for years) has noticed a difference when she strength tests me. This is all amazing. I still have some groin pain, especially in certain positions and with certain activities. Going from sitting to standing still causes tightness and pain, but it wears off after a while.
However, I realize that cortisone doesn't last forever. For those of you who've had good results with cortisone, how long did it last? Google tells me the relief can last 4-6 weeks. Longer, if the inflammation doesn't return.
How often does this cortisone + PT/strengthening actually resolve the symptoms for a long time/permanently?
Right now, I wouldn't say I'm modifying too many of my daily activities, but I am careful with what I do and there are some things I'd like to do (ride horses, for instance) that I don't think would be a great idea. I also worry what happens if/when I get pregnant - we're not trying yet, but...that's definitely in the plan.
What keeps going through my head is that I'm at a good point in my life to go through with a surgery like this. I work a desk job that can be done mostly from home once I run out of sick time to use for FMLA, I have good insurance (through this December, anyway), I do not have a pet that requires too much work, no children to run aftetake care of, good support system to help me in recovery...But is it stupid to opt to move forward with surgery if your pain levels aren't terrible after cortisone?

2024.05.14 16:15 BirchDiggler Constant aching and feeling to pop above/behind right shoulder blade

I had shoulder surgery back in 2015. All was well until I was released from light duty at work. I started over compensating with my left arm and at work, on an assembly line, I’d reach across my body and pull the product down to my with my left. I think that may what caused this.
That being said. From the time I wake until I sleep it’s a constant aching and burning in my right shoulder blade area. It then got to where I couldn’t turn right. I went to a physical therapist and he said it’s a common thing in wrestlers and that it was my chest plate, a rib issue there. Well he twisted me and popped my upper back and fixed it. But now along with the constant burning and aching now there is a constant feeling of having to pop where my right shoulder blade is. I lean and twist like every 3 min now it seems. It’ll eventually click pop and there will be instant relief. That only lasts a minute or 2 tops, then it goes back to hurting.
As of lately it’s getting hard to make it click and it feels like my whole upper back is getting tighter and slouching more.
Oh! Also, above my shoulder blade I can press on one band of something. Idk if it’s muscle or tendon, it feels like a small cord, but it’s extremely painful to press on. When I do though and tolerate the pain, it subsides and the aching and needing to pop feeling goes away as long as I’m pressing.
Sorry for the novel.

2024.05.14 16:11 TosseGrassa Estimate of animal deaths due to eating wild fish vs eating plants (with numbers!!)

This topic has been discussed in this reddit a couple of times in the past but honestly not very quantitively, and not including insects.
So, I wanted to give it a go and know your opinion. Now, there seems to be significant literature suggesting that most insects indeed do feel pain (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0065280622000170) and this is the reason, to the best of my knowledge, why vegans do not eat honey. So, I don't see any reasons to not include them in the calculation. Only in the US, it is estimated that 3 quadrillion insects die or are harmed to pesticides alone (from a very animal friendly reference https://www.wildanimalinitiative.org/blog/humane-insecticides). The number is shockingly huge but reasonable. There are an estimated 10 quintillion insects on our planet. Proportionally, 180 quadrillion just on the US, making 3 quadrillion only around 1.6% of the entire US insect population. Considering that crop land covers 7% of total US land, the death estimate seems quite reasonable, or at least in a realistic order of magnitude. There are around 340M acres of crop land in the USA (https://farmdocdaily.illinois.edu/2021/06/estimating-total-crop-acres-in-the-us.html), meaning in average insecticides cause 10M insects death each year per acre. An acre for something like corn yields 12M calories (https://www.waldeneffect.org/blog/Calories\_per\_acre\_for\_various\_foods/). Let's assume you then plant something else and double the calories produced by the acre in a year to 25M (I could not find a figure for how many calories an acre of land produces in a year in the US, but this should be more or less in the right ball park). This means a sobering 2.50 calories per kill. I am not including harvester deaths of rodents and other animals, as well as poisoning of other animals like birds due to pesticides as they are likely not the same order of magnitude.
Now let’s move to wild fish, eg. salmon. In average a salmon yields 1000 calories (give or take). How many deaths does it take to fish a wild salmon? WWF estimates bycatch to be 40% of the fish fished (https://www.fishforward.eu/en/project/by-catch/#:\~:text=In%20total%2C%2038%20million%20tonnes,or%20disposed%20of%20on%20land.). Means in average roughly for every two fish, another fish dies. Let’s be conservative and say for every salmon another fish dies. This takes us at 500 calories per kill. That is 2 orders of magnitude less deaths compared to a plant like corn. Of course it is not always clear cut. Potatoes for instance don’t require much insecticide and can yield more calories per acre. If you compare them with eg. Shrimps, for which bycatch is also usually higher, they may end up on top. But in general, unless you find something particularly wrong that accounts for a couple of orders of magnitude, I don’t think there is any reason to think that eating wild fish, especially finned fish, produces more animal killing than plants.
Pre-replies to some usual points to save (us) some time:
  1. Crop deaths are not morally the same because they are accidents: I find this a weak excuse in general but here it really doesn't apply. I am not talking about a harvester unintentionally killing animals. We are talking about bombing acres of land with poison specifically designed to kill animals (eg. Insecticides and rodenticides).
  2. There is not enough wild fish for everyone to eat, so this is pointless: Here I am not suggesting vegans should just eat wild fish. First and foremost, even if there was enough wild fish, it would not be very healthy diet for your guts. But one could add some wild fish to his diet in a sustainable manner and decrease the total amount of animal deaths caused by mono crop agriculture. How much? Using (https://ourworldindata.org/fish-and-overfishing) as reference, we produced in 2018 110M tons of wild fish. Of this 79% is estimated sustainable, so we can say 89M tons of fish can be fished in a sustainable manner (meaning without ever run out of it). Divided by 8B people, this brings us to roughly 10 Kg per person (half current US average). This accounts to roughly 200g of fish a week. A significant change to a typical vegan diet, which reduces animal deaths and even provide a natural source of B12. If you are not a picky eater and you eat fish organs as well, you may not need B12 supplements at all.
Note: It may take some time to reply, but I will reply :)

2024.05.14 16:06 Majestic_Incident_27 Nancy: Femme Fatale (part 2)

Nancy: Femme Fatale (part 2)
Chapter 2: A New Reality
Nancy awoke in a sterile room, her body aching with unfamiliar sensations. She sat up slowly, the weight of her new breasts pulling her forward. The transformation had left her exhausted, but curiosity overwhelmed her. She was no longer John, the man who reveled in objectifying women. She was now Nancy, a woman whose body was a living contradiction to her male psyche.
She looked down at herself, her hands trembling as they moved towards her chest. The sight of her own cleavage was both mesmerizing and disconcerting. She cupped her breasts, the skin warm and smooth beneath her fingers. A jolt of pleasure shot through her, making her gasp. She squeezed them tentatively, feeling the fullness and weight, the slight give of the soft flesh beneath her touch. The sensation was unlike anything she had ever experienced, arousing and confusing all at once.
Nancy couldn’t help but explore further. She stood up, her new hips swaying with every step, and walked to the full-length mirror on the wall. The reflection staring back at her was a vision of impossible beauty: large, dark eyes, full lips, and cascading hair framing a face that was both delicate and striking. Her body was a perfect hourglass, her breasts full and round, her waist cinched, and her hips flaring out to shapely thighs.
Her hands roamed over her body, feeling the curve of her waist, the softness of her belly, the firmness of her buttocks. She gave her buttocks a squeeze, marveling at the firm yet pliant flesh. Each touch sent waves of unfamiliar pleasure through her, making her breathing shallow and her skin flush. She traced her fingers over her thighs, feeling the smoothness of her skin, the strength of the muscles beneath.
Nancy's exploration became more intense, driven by a perverse fascination with her new form. She lay back on the bed, her hands wandering freely. She cupped her breasts again, this time kneading them, her fingers finding the sensitive nipples. She pinched them lightly, gasping at the sensation that shot straight to her core. She couldn’t believe how sensitive they were, how each touch, each squeeze, made her body react in ways she couldn’t control.
In her mind, she was still John—the man who had seen women as mere objects of pleasure. Now, trapped in this incredibly seductive body, she was experiencing a twisted irony. Her arousal grew with every touch, her body responding eagerly to the very actions she had once inflicted on others.
She moved her hands down to her belly, feeling the softness there, the gentle rise and fall with each breath. Her fingers traced her belly button, sending shivers down her spine. Her thighs were next, her hands sliding over the smooth skin, feeling the muscles tense and relax under her touch. She spread her legs slightly, her fingers exploring the inner thighs, feeling the heat radiating from her core.
Nancy's hands drifted back to her breasts, now more confident and insistent. She squeezed them harder, her breath hitching as she felt the fullness and weight. The veins were visible under her pale skin, and she could feel the mammary glands swollen and aching. She pushed and pulled at her nipples, trying to milk them, but instead of relief, she found herself drowning in a sea of arousal. Her nipples were incredibly sensitive, each touch sending shockwaves through her body.
She couldn’t stop herself from exploring further. Her fingers slid down her belly, feeling the slight curve, the soft skin giving way under her touch. She pressed down, feeling the muscles tense beneath. Her hands moved lower, tracing the edges of her hips, the smooth curve of her thighs, the delicate skin of her inner thighs. She spread her legs wider, her breath coming in ragged gasps as her fingers explored the new territory.
The arousal was maddening, but it also brought a deep sense of confusion and frustration. Nancy sat up, her hands still roaming over her body, unable to stop herself. She could feel the wetness between her legs, the undeniable evidence of her arousal. Her mind was at war with her body—John’s perverted desires clashing with Nancy’s physical reactions.
She lay back on the bed, her hands moving rhythmically over her breasts, her belly, her thighs. The pleasure was overwhelming, her body responding eagerly to the touches, the sensations building with each passing moment. She pinched her nipples harder, pulling and twisting them, gasping at the electric shocks that followed. Her fingers trailed down to her belly, pressing and kneading the soft flesh, feeling the heat rising within her.
Her hands moved lower, tracing the edges of her hips, the smooth curve of her thighs, the delicate skin of her inner thighs. She spread her legs wider, her breath coming in ragged gasps as her fingers explored the new territory. She felt the wetness, the heat, the undeniable arousal, her mind spinning with the intensity of the sensations.
The pleasure was too much, too intense, making her feel like she was losing her mind. Nancy’s mind raced, struggling to reconcile her new reality. She was no longer the man who had objectified women. She was now the very object of her own perverse fascination. The irony was not lost on her, and it filled her with a deep sense of shame and confusion.
She sat up once more, tears of frustration and arousal streaming down her cheeks. Her body was a masterpiece of seduction, but her mind was still a battlefield. The perverted thoughts that once brought her satisfaction now only deepened her sense of despair. She couldn’t escape the sensations, couldn’t stop her hands from exploring, from seeking, from needing.
Hours passed in this torment, each touch bringing both pleasure and pain. Nancy’s breaths came in ragged gasps, her body slick with sweat. Her mind was a storm of conflicting emotions—desire, shame, confusion. She was trapped in a body that was the epitome of those desires, forced to live out the very fantasies she had once inflicted on others.
She stood up and faced the mirror again, her reflection mocking her. She was a beautiful, seductive woman, but inside, she was still John—still the man who had taken pleasure in objectifying women. Now, she was trapped in a body that was the epitome of those desires, forced to live out the very fantasies she had once inflicted on others.

2024.05.14 15:25 OrganizationGreat248 Unlucky Isekai Life (Part 2 of 6)

Ruby groaned as the alarm went off signaling that one of her charges had arrived back from their mission. While troublesome in its own right, what really got under her skin was that she only had one charge at the moment, and that edge lord piece of shit wasn’t supposed to complete his task for AT LEAST another 4 deca-cycles according to the prediction algorithm. Grumbling to herself, she rolled out of bed and poured herself a glass of water to offset the hangover she was trying to recover from.

A few moments later she was gliding down the hall to the meeting room. She knew Jason was going to pitch a fit that she had left him waiting, the self-entitled brat always did think the world revolved around him; but perhaps he should have thought about that before freaking dying so early. If he wanted her to be there to meet him upon death, he could at least have the decency to not die the morning after one of her binges.

Other staff members gave her a wide berth, even if it was a hollow title, she was still technically far above basically anyone else in the pecking order, at least those who had a physical presence within the Agency. She knew they all mocked her behind her back, even divine beings were sadly prone towards gossip. She put the anger at her subordinates/coworkers out of her mind for now; even if she didn’t particularly LIKE Jason, he still didn’t deserve her coming in with baggage.

Lost in her thoughts, she hadn’t noticed that she’d arrived in front of the conference room door. She had been mulling over her thoughts, just staring into nothingness, for several minutes before she finally snapped back to the present. With a soft rap on the door, she opened it and floated inside. Jason was lounging, sprawled out on the regally padded chair throne he so fancied.

They exchanged pleasantries before she sat down to go over the mission summary. Upon seeing the cause of death, she had regrettably lost her composure and started to laugh uncontrollably. Her mighty subordinate had been felled by a goblin?! The mighty Jason Alexander Coyle, “mercenary extraordinaire”, had gotten his shit kicked in by a lowly goblin using what looked like a shiny butter knife. Oh, it was just too rich to not laugh at the absurdity.

It took her much longer than she would like to admit, to stop laughing. Jason of course wore a sour look through the entire endeavor. She shrugged it off, she had little doubt that if the same thing had happened to someone else, he would have been right beside her doubled over in laughter. Hell, once he was in a less pissy mood, she might even be able to get him to laugh about it later.

As luck would have it, it appeared that Jason’s actions had been enough to alter the tides of the war. The kingdom, and its divinity, would still lose many to the battles ahead, but Jason had done enough that the Agency could still bill the client for services rendered. As she spoke, she could see the disdain the man had for her, he always complained that she was drunk and reeked of liquor. Sure, that was often true, but he didn’t need to be such a stick in the mud about it all.

She went ahead and authorized the transfer of credits to Jason’s account. As soon as she did so, he opened up the store page and tuned her out. She watched him open up the back-channel site and purchase something, a small part of her wondered who was going to get roasted over the coals this time for allowing their admin privileges to be hacked. She toyed with the idea of bringing up his illegal actions, but truth be told she didn’t really give a shit. The other divinities were far too lax with their security, it had been child's play for one of her previous wards to hack into the Agency’s system and build the black site.

She’d ask him once about the whole thing, didn’t really grasp as much as she would have liked, but basically it functioned by spoofing a handler's credentials. This allowed the user to gain access to encrypted parts of the network, specifically access to certain privileged services that handlers enjoyed and most importantly, access to the mission assignment database. Users could buy and sell restricted or banned goods, and a part of the profits would be siphoned off to her ward’s personal account.

With Jason’s attention otherwise occupied, Ruby went ahead and reviewed the logs for his previous mission. Something about it was nagging at her. She couldn’t put it into words; however, the whole series of events just didn’t feel like ‘bad luck’. Using her divine authority, she rewound events, watching Jason’s lungs unfill with blood and refill with air.

The goblin skulked back to its den of corpses, resheathing the dagger at its hips, and reburied itself underneath the bodies. She let it rewind another few moments before stopping the feed and letting it run at normal time. She watched the goblin, slowly shifting the bodies out of the way, making sure they made no noise when it moved them. Slowly, carefully, it began to creep towards Jason’s exposed back. It drew the blade, again slowly and quietly. It closed the distance making sure to never let Jason see it or to give him any reason to think someone was behind him. Then in a flash of movement it leapt, burying the dagger right into a joint in Jason’s armor. The placement was perfect, no resistance, so the blade sank to the hilt. Allowing it to puncture Jason’s right lung.

Ruby rewound the log once more. This was wrong, very wrong. The goblin was way too good to just be some random grunt. Its movements were too smooth, its aim too precise. No, she was sure of it now, this was not a normal goblin. She focused her attention on the thing, aiming to scan the goblin for abnormalities, the dust covering it offering a surprising level of resistance to her scan. Not enough to stop her from doing what she wanted, but more resistance than she felt was reasonable for the anti-magic powder.

When she finally gained access to the monster’s stat block, her suspicions were proven correct. That was no normal goblin, that was a Redcap, a Redcap assassin no less. What in the dozen hells was a Redcap assassin doing in the middle of a freaking battlefield?! Such a valuable unit wouldn’t be used on the front lines, their skill set was terribly suited for the chaos that was an active battle. No, something was very wrong here and Ruby was going to figure out what.

As her mind raced trying to puzzle out what the actual fuck was going on, something else about the goblin flagged in her mind. It had come out of the corpse pile with the dagger already in its possession. She highlighted the various bodies that had made up the goblin's hidey hole, and then rewound the scene back. Every time one of the highlighted bodies met their fate, she froze the moment and pulled the scene into a separate window. It took a few minutes, but she eventually had all of the corpses frozen in the heartbeat before their deaths. She went through and scanned every single individual. Not a single one had been equipped with a magic disruptor blade. “So, where the fuck did the Redcap get a kingdom issued disruptor?”

Looking up, she saw that Jason was still fiddling with whatever it was that he bought. She tried to make idle conversation with the man, but he had gone full auto pilot, giving curt one-to-two word answers when asked a question or having to respond to a comment. She rolled her eyes, as much as she and him butted heads, she did have to admit that she did kind of like the guy. He had been going a little too hard into the whole dark and brooding edge lord thing recently, but that was hardly his fault. The human soul was ill suited to withstand the trauma of death, much less multiple deaths. The Agency usually did a memory scrub every couple missions, to prevent that kind of issue, but Jason had been dodging the screenings. For a moment she considered just letting sleeping dogs lie. Jason was dead and the mission was over regardless of what she might find, but the whole thing just rubbed her the wrong way.

Taking a little nip from her pocket flask, she once more focuses her attention on the Redcap. After scrubbing through the last several months of the creature’s life, she finally finds what she was looking for. The blade had come from one of Jason’s personal guards.

Ruby did a deep dive on the guard, and what came back made her blood run cold. The man had recently lost his lover. Jason had ordered a company to mop up a fleeing enemy force, before it could regroup and cause more issues. The entire thing had been a ruse and the company had been slaughtered to the last. The guard's lover had been part of that company. The loss had hit the man hard, driving him to the only rock left in his life. His deep belief in the kingdom’s divinity.

And wouldn’t you know it, apparently the kingdom’s divinity had some issues with Jason that it couldn’t be bothered to address through the proper channels. So instead of letting Ruby handle the trainwreck that was Jason’s social skills, this little scum lord of a God, had taken upon themself to deal with the issue. Several months of holy visions were enough to convince the grieving widow to betray everyone and everything he had ever known.

Once the guard had been properly brainwashed into turning his coat, it had been a simple matter to worm his way on to all of Jason’s post-fight surveys of the battlefield. The magic scanners that were exclusive to Jason’s retinue, had allowed him to see that Jason’s inhuman ability to avoid taking damage was really just a creative use of high-level magic. High-level magic that could have easily been used to save many of the kingdom’s soldiers. But of course, Jason believed himself too good to give the common man a means to protect themselves and those they loved. All this knowledge was of course worthless to the guard, he was nowhere near skilled enough to actually challenge Jason. But wouldn’t you know it, the divinity had thought of that too.

The podunk worm had brokered a secret deal with the enemy he’d contracted the Agency to deal with. In exchange for getting rid of a thorn in the God’s side, it would use its powers to scale back the war. Instead of facing a war of eradication, the enemy would be allowed to keep some of the land it had conquered.

At the urging of his God, the guard held a series of clandestine meetings with the Redcap. Imparting all the information he had learned in the months of shadowing Jason. He also gave the beast two gifts, the first was a Disruptor blade the guard had swiped from a fellow honor guard; when Jason’s corpse was found the blade would be traced back to the unfortunate guard instead of the traitor. The second was a satchel of Grarothian powder that had been blessed by the divinity, to ensure that Jason wouldn’t see the attack coming. It had worked of course; Jason hadn’t even known he was in danger till the blade was already buried in his lung. Oh, she was going to have the wannabe God’s head on a pike after this.

It pained her to admit it, but Jason deserved the final say in how this was all going to go down. She attempted to grab his attention, but the man was lost in his own little world. She tried waving her hands, ignored. She tried snapping her fingers in his ears, ignored. She even went so far as to beat her wings, blasting his face with the wind force of just under a category 1 hurricane; again ignored. Her rage was starting to reach fever pitch. So, she defaulted to the most tried and true method of stress reduction she had in her arsenal. She decided the only way for herself and Jason, once he knew the truth, to calm down would be to relax with a drink of the finest Earth treats.

With a heavy heart she opened up her most beloved extra planer storage space. This place was used for the only two things Ruby really cared about anymore. It was where she kept her most prized and coveted liquor, and where she kept the last few mementos, she possessed of her fallen wards. Her eyes scanned the room, she needed to pick the right apology gift. As she carefully made her way towards the back, she saw it. Tucked in about two thirds of the way to the back wall, stood a single hogshead of ancient scotch whiskey. The second to last gift she had received from one of her dearest friends, all those years ago.

Yes, this was the correct one. She felt it deep within her chest, a proper atonement requires a proper level of sacrifice. With a heavy heart she lifted the barrel over her head and began to stride out of the extra dimensional space. As she neared the opening, the soft clink of something falling and a flash of gold caught her eye. Sitting on a tiny end table was a small pouch of coins, one of which had somehow gotten loose and tumbled face up onto the polished table face.

For a moment she hesitated, she knew exactly what those coins were; and knew how much trouble she would get into if upper management found out she had them. That said, she also knew a sign when she saw one. The artifacts that she held within this place were the last remnants of those she had failed most of all. She pondered the meaning behind the fact that two of her previous charges seemed to have taken a shine to Jason, offering up to him their most precious of gifts. With a heavy heart and a plea to those long lost, she grabbed the coin before closing the pocket dimension.

With a loud *CLUNK* She set the hogshead down. Apparently, the sound of the barrel had finally made enough noise to draw Jason’s attention away from his screen. From a much smaller storage pocket she produced two crystal glasses. Pouring a hefty serving into each glass, she set one down in front of herself and the other in front of Jason. Locking eyes with the man, she said a single word.

“Drink”

The man twisted his face up in disgust at the sight of the liquor.

“Thanks, but no thanks, I’m not inclined to degr...”

“I said, DRINK!” Ruby growl bellows, casting the Command spell on the last word. Jason, despite his best efforts to ignore the compulsion, is forced to do as he is told, and takes a hearty swig of his hundred-year-old Scotch. With a smile on her lips, Ruby takes the opportunity to sip the illustrious gift. The hours melt away as they both sip and savor the deep complex flavors of this legendary brew.

As the drink flows her recollection of events becomes just a tad bit hazy. She can’t really remember how long it takes, but she does eventually come clean about the reason for this impromptu bout of drinking. It comes as little shock that Jason is... less than pleased to learn about the events that led to his death. He downs the rest of his drink in a single gulp, a waste of grand booze in Ruby’s opinion, and demands she fill his next one to the brim. For the first time in FAR too long, Ruby gets to see the Jason she had known all those years ago was still in there.

As the festivities carried on, she would occasionally catch him fiddling with the token he had bought. Curiosity finally getting the better of her, she decided to ask him about it, deciding to NOT mention that she knew it was illicitly purchased. He was cagey about it at first, but eventually loosened up and told her the truth.

He had grown bored with the usual missions that he had been assigned. He was sick of always having to play support, always cleaning up someone else’s messes, always laying the groundwork for someone else’s story. So, he had decided to cash in his points, and finally make use of the vacation time he had accrued. He had picked out what looked to be a pretty basic Isekai mission. Ruby suggested not mentioning his luck to anyone else, even she was aware how rare and coveted those missions were.

As the night wound to a close, they said their goodbyes. Before taking her leave, Ruby remembered the other present she had for Jason. A sharp whistle was the only warning she gave him before flicking the coin at his head. Even drunk, the man’s senses were still a thing to marvel at as he caught it in midair .

“The fuck is this?”

“Think of it as a gift.” She snorts.

“Oh, how generous of you. A whole gold coin, whatever will I spend it on.” Jason responds as he jangles the large coin pouch at his hip.

“Oh, fuck off. I’ll take it back if you’re going to be a brat about it.”

Jason drops the coin into his wallet and shakes it again for good measure. “Oops, too late now. Guess you’ll just have to let me keep it.” He gives her a smug grin.

She scoffed before turning around and making for the door. She could hear him activate the token as she closed the door behind her. As she wandered down the hallways back to her room, she pondered the events of the day. The rogue client would need to be dealt with, but she still wasn’t sure if burying him in legal paperwork for the next millennia or two, or just giving him a good old fashion human curb stomping, was the better punishment for his actions.

The choices bounced around in her head till she finally reached her residence. Having made no real progress in deciding her actions, she elected to just table the decision till she woke up next. The God was small time, so it wasn’t like it was going anywhere.

She took her time getting ready to sleep. Being a divine being herself, she didn’t actually NEED to sleep, but she did so enjoy the human customs surrounding the whole process. She took a long hot bath to unwind, before summoning a pair of adorable pajamas. Her body clean, and her mind at peace she laid down in her oversized excessively fluffy bed.

She had barely closed her eyes and began to drift off to blissful sleep, before she was awoken once again by the sound of her alarm going off.

“You have got to be shitting me. HOW?!?!”

2024.05.14 15:05 tessler65 Two week follow-up right THR

I saw the surgeon's PA and the surgeon yesterday for my two week follow-up and we were all thrilled. This second hip has been such a different experience for me, thanks to physical therapy for the left hip right up to the day before surgery for my right.
Quick recap: 58F, osteoarthritis in both hips, left anterior THR on February 1, right anterior THR on April 25, both Mako with Stryker hardware.
Surgeon's report: Potential Limitations: None. Comparision Available: Findings Are New. X-rays of the pelvis and right hip have been taken, reviewed and interpreted by me today. Right hip x-rays show anatomic alignment of right total hip arthroplasty. Components well-seated and well aligned. Left total hip arthroplasty also in place, well-seated and well aligned. Leg length appears to be within 1 cm when measuring along a line along the inferior border of the pelvis, intersecting the lesser trochanters.
I started using the cane this past weekend and switched back and forth from cane to walker depending on how much extra support I felt I needed. I was using the cane for my appointment. He pointed out that I was having a bit of difficulty starting walking once I stood up from the chair but once I took a few steps, I was unstoppable. 😀 Those first few steps are tough because my thigh muscles are still tight. Heck, I'm two and a half weeks out, still so early in the healing process, and yeah, that right thigh is mad.
I asked the PA if it would be possible for me to drive a block and a half to my PT appointment at in-town speeds not to exceed 20mph. She encouraged me to start working on getting in and out of the car and driving shirt distances, even up to running quick errands around town. Restrictions: No pain meds on board, no highway speeds, and absolutely no driving if I'm having trouble lifting my right leg.
I've also been cleared to start working from home starting next week. New challenge: To take frequent walk breaks during my workday so I don't stiffen up all over and slow my progress.
This has been such a long time coming. I've struggled with my left hip for literal decades when the first signs of arthritis showed up on x-rays in my 20s. Things had degenerated on the left to the point where I wasn't really able to walk by mid-December 2023. I was in such poor physical condition going into the surgery for the left that it took 10 weeks of recovery and physical therapy before I felt comfortable enough that my left leg could carry me and I could get the right one done.
I want to thank this community for all the support and sharing stories and willingness to answer questions from all your personal experiences. Of course, this post wouldn't be complete unless I threw in the cliche:
Why did I wait so long??
😆🩷🩷

2024.05.14 14:46 Casemona despite having a good job, I feel like I am never going to get ahead financially.

I am looking for a side job (no surveys, or tasks that take a buttload of time for little money). I say this because I am a new mom, have 2 other kids, a full-time job and am pursuing my MBA (My work pays for this, but I am about to take a break due to the issues below). I have a well paying job (I am a Scrum Master) but with the cost of living every paycheck I get is almost gone as soon as I get it all to bills. I am trying to find something online that can bring in an extra $2,000 a month.
I have about $25,000 in debt which is a huge chunk of money every month but I feel like I just can't get ahead even with the monthly payments. On top of that I bought a house last year so my mortgage is crazy expensive too.
I have a partner but his work is so sporatic that I can't rely on it. And he can't work more because he is the primary caregiver to our new baby so I can work. We don't qualify for government assistance because on paper it looks like I make a lot (but my take home is not that much).
I am looking for a reddit that can help address the issues above. I need help, advice and guidance. I am always so stressed out about money that it causes anxiety with physical symptoms (constant neck pain, headaches and hip pain) and depression. I just want to enjoy my family but all I can think about is what are we going to cut out this month to try and get ahead.
Its exhausting. I am exhausted.

2024.05.14 14:42 Perfect_Sprinkles_28 Behaviour possibly related to dissociation?

Recently I’ve been exercising (HIIT) to the point of near vomiting and extreme pain. I know it’s not good for me (I experience headaches, fatigue, muscle weakness, dry cough for days after), but I can’t seem to pull myself back.
I also feel super fragile after a workout and very dissociated (like I’m trapped inside a bubble and everything else outside is too much). If I go to the shops after I’ll get very overwhelmed.
I’ve been active all my life and it’s primarily how I learned to cope with stress, but the destructive behaviour of the past few weeks has been new to me and I don’t understand where it’s come from or what to do. Has anyone experienced similar and might be able to shed some light?

2024.05.14 14:32 luka185 How much elbow flexion is safe

I feel brachialis tendon pain during both bodyweight and weighted +5/10/15/20kg ring muscle ups.
I have flexible shoulders-shoulders to baring dips thus I dont have to pull that high to perform a ring muscle up.
I dont have pain if I pull super high to perform a ring muscle up - probably cuz I kind of skip the transition phase since I pulled so high. The less I pull the more elbow flexion I get myself into and since I have great and flexible shoulders I want to make use of it.
My maximum elbow flexion is around 170deg I think.
It hurts during a transition phase, also during a muscle up eccentric where I lower down from dip back to the pull up.
The deeper the dip the more elbow flexion I get myself into obviously. Brachialis isnt active in elbow extension but I guess it still hurts cuz of degrees of elbow flexion I find myself in.
My guess ”Excessive” elbow flexion seems to cause the pain during a transition phase.
So, is there such thing as too much of an elbow flexion or I just need to work on my elbow flexion in that very end range of motion and strengthen/hypertrophy the brachialis right around there?
Perhaps some connective tissue work ?
Brachialis shortens as elbow flexes so I dont understand why it hurts, its not like I overstretch it or do smth crazy.
Lot of people experience this pain during ring muscle ups but it just doesnt really go away in my case, I can do 20kg reps and even 1 bw rep gives me pain in that rom :(

2024.05.14 14:11 Interesting-Piece316 My feet and ankles hurt. Podiatrist says nothing he can do except PT. Any suggestions?

My feet and ankles hurt a lot. My whole body does. I have degenerative disc disease and 8 compression fractures in various stages of healing. L4-L5 are the worst. My pcp blamed my pain on stress.
Is there really nothing but PT for my feet? I went but they spent most of the time on my hip. Orthotics? An injection?
1.the anterior talofibular ligament is draped over an old avulsion fracture fragment arising from the distal fibula (image 18-19 series 3) although appears intact.
2.Complete fatty atrophy of both the medial and lateral heads of the flexor hallucis brevis muscle, as well as the 3rd dorsal interosseous muscle, nonspecific although possibly due to prior trauma and/or areas of denervation. No intramuscular edema, fluid collection, or mass (A prior emg shows no fibular nerve activity on either side)
  1. Old avulsion fracture of the anterior inferior tip of the distal fibula Nonspecific marrow edema within the subcortical lateral distal fibula, which may reflect a marrow contusion, although again is indeterminate in nature

2024.05.14 14:09 VermicelliCheap2282 Too many symptoms. Makes me sound like I’m making things up…

I’m not going to list all my symptoms because that’s just silly.
But this one symptom I have really bothers me. Lately on and off my hands/fingers/fingertips and toes/feet have been numb? No not numb. Feels like static haha and my poor hands just hurt so bad.
Another symptom that bothers me is muscle weakness, especially my legs. They just feel like jelly.
I have HORRIBLE back pain…like my spine feels bruised and my hips and ball joints feel bruised.
Also my vision is super blurry lately. Like a film over my eyes. I just went to the eye doctor so I know I have the right prescription.
One more I’ll name is deep bone pain in my forearms…
I have not been diagnosed with anything yet because I hate going to the doctor because they just dismiss me and could care less about helping me.
I did test positive for ANA 1:320 homogeneous AC-1 and I do have the HLA B27 antigen.
Idk anyone got any insight that I can maybe read up on and bring to my doctor?
Bc at this point, well there is no point.

2024.05.14 13:50 yosmiteghoul I ate a bunch of donuts and urine smelled sweet. Simply too many donuts or possibly diabetes?

I am F22, 5'6, 183 pounds and exercise daily. I am white. I haven't lost weight on the scale yet, but I've gone from a 36 inch waist to a 30 inch waist. I don't drink, I don't do drugs but I do vape. Ive taken 37.5mg of Effexor for the past 4 days after ceasing Sertraline 75mg after 3 months. Diabetes does run in my family but typically during menopause/older age. My grandfather had type 1 diabetes and he died at 57 years old. My last blood test was in 2022 in the ER due to abdominal pain. Cystic leisons in pelvic area, cystic leisons around bladder extending to my interior abdominal muscle/internal debris found and SI joint arthritis. Other than that, unremarkable. Tip top shape. I had my Mirena IUD taken out April 17th 2024. Today my boyfriend brought donuts home and I had four within the course of a few hours. Eventually I went to the gym, worked out for an hour and came back upstairs. Enjoyed another delicious donut. I don't typically eat sugar because I'm not a fan of sweets and the most sugar I get in a day is from ketchup or grapes. My period was/is two days late so I did what any responsible and paranoid young lady would do and took a test. The test required me to pee into the little cup it provided and use a dropper to transfer the urine into the test. I urinated into the cup and noticed a sweet smell. I smelled myself and my clothes because it honestly smelled exactly like donuts or a gourmand vanilla perfume. No, not me, so I brought the cup up to my nose to get a closer smell. My urine smelled like the donut glaze they use at Tim Hortons, which is exactly where the donuts I enjoyed came from. I finished the test, I am not pregnant, yippe! I have been noticing odd symptoms that easily could be explained by other things going on in my life. Dry mouth, thirsty constantly, urinating constantly, fatigue, blurry vision: SSRI. I stopped taking Sertraline very specifically because a few times a week I would wake up dizzy, shaking, nauseous, diarrhea, blurry vision, laggy vision and rapid heart beat. I'd get up, unlock the door incase I needed to call 911, get my gigantic water bottle, find my way into a hot shower and sit in it until I felt "settled" and then eat a bite of an uncrustable. I would go back to bed and hope I wouldn't die. I'd wake up feeling better but overall lethargic. My doctor said it's not possible Sertraline was the cause of this because he confirmed I didnt have serotonin Syndrome. He seemed frustrated but switched me anyways because he had no explanation otherwise. I noticed about a few months ago my urine smelled like the buttered popcorn and I never thought much about it, since I am not a peeologist.
About an hour after my sweet urine dilemma I started to feel like garbage. Perhaps anxiety, perhaps not. All I know, is that it probably wasn't a great idea to smarf down 4 donuts at once and then 1 donut after the gym. I don't typically eat donuts, but I was so hungry and they really hit the spot.
A few questions. Is it possible to have sweet smelling urine without having diabetes? Is it possible that because I don't eat much sugar that I didn't notice until now? Am I just overly anxious about my other symptoms and being paranoid? If I am diabetic do SSRI's & SNRI'S affect your blood glucose or insulin?
I have an appointment with my doctor on the 23rd and I will be bringing it up with him. I just don't want to sound crazy or overly paranoid about my health. If this is concerning (which all put together sounds like it is lol), I do live with my boyfriend so he will be around to keep an eye on me. I also acknowledge I am overweight and I am working on it actively by daily exercise, caloric deficit and healthy foods.

Nancy: Femme Fatale (just a weird fantasy)
Chapter 1: Transformation and Introduction
The air was heavy with the scent of antiseptic and the low hum of machinery. Stark, clinical light illuminated a room filled with gleaming metal tables, computer screens, and vials of strange liquids. A man lay restrained on a cold, steel slab, his face contorted in anger and fear. This was John—a man who had spent his life indulging in his vices, a man who believed women were nothing more than objects.
The door to the lab slid open with a soft hiss, and Dr. Lee entered, her expression a mask of professional detachment. She moved with the precision of a surgeon, her gloved hands preparing a series of syringes filled with a luminescent blue serum. John's eyes widened as he strained against his restraints, but the leather straps held firm.
"Relax, John," Dr. Lee's voice was calm, almost soothing. "This will all be over soon."
She injected the first syringe into his arm, and a chill spread through John's veins. His breathing quickened, and sweat beaded on his forehead. He tried to shout, but the gag in his mouth muffled his cries.
The serum worked quickly. John's body convulsed, and his skin began to glow with an unnatural light. His muscles twitched uncontrollably, and his bones seemed to shift beneath his skin. He could feel every nerve ending on fire, a sensation that was both excruciating and strangely euphoric.
His belly was the first to change. It rippled and flattened, losing its masculine hardness. The skin grew softer, more pliant, and a slight curve began to form. He felt a strange pulling sensation as his hips widened, the bones cracking and reshaping to create a more feminine silhouette. His thighs thickened, gaining a soft, enticing curve that complemented his new hips.
The real agony began in his chest. John's eyes bulged as a searing pain shot through his nipples, spreading outward. His pectoral muscles softened, the skin stretching painfully as small mounds began to form. The growth was relentless. His chest expanded, the mounds swelling into full breasts that grew heavier with each passing moment. The skin stretched tight, veins becoming visible under the surface as the mammary glands expanded.
John's screams, muffled by the gag, filled the lab. The pain was unbearable, a constant, throbbing ache that intensified as his breasts grew larger and fuller. They jutted out obscenely, the skin taut and shiny, nipples hard and sensitive. The growth finally slowed, leaving him with a pair of ample, perfectly shaped breasts that heaved with every labored breath.
The change in his chest was more than just painful; it was overwhelming. He could feel the mammary glands swelling, the ducts expanding, pushing the limits of his skin. The sensation of fullness and weight was alien, each movement causing a slight jiggle that sent shockwaves of sensitivity through his body. His nipples, now prominent and tender, brushed against the fabric of the gown they had draped over him, sending electric shivers down his spine.
His buttocks followed suit, the muscles softening and expanding into firm, round globes that pushed against the restraints. His spine arched involuntarily, accentuating the new curve of his back. The changes continued down his legs, reshaping his calves and ankles into slender, elegant forms.
Finally, his face began to transform. His jawline softened, cheekbones became more pronounced, and his lips plumped into a seductive pout. His Adam's apple receded, and his hair grew longer, cascading in waves around his shoulders.
John's body was now entirely female, a vision of impossible beauty and allure. The restraints were released, and he collapsed onto the table, his new breasts heaving with the effort of breathing. The pain had subsided, replaced by a strange, alien sensation of softness and sensitivity.
Dr. Lee stepped back, admiring her work. "Welcome to your new life, Nancy," she said softly.
Nancy—no longer John—slowly pushed herself up, her movements hesitant and unsteady. She looked down at her new body, eyes wide with a mixture of horror and fascination. Her hands explored the new curves, the softness of her belly, the swell of her hips, the weight of her breasts.
A mirror was brought to her, and she stared at the reflection of a stunningly beautiful woman. Her new form was breathtaking, every inch of her designed to be the epitome of seduction and allure. But behind those wide, dark eyes was the mind of a man—a man who now had to navigate the world in a body he objectified

2024.05.14 13:17 Kinnporscheislife Non pathologically enlarged cervical nodes for 3 months.

At the start of March I felt like I was going down with something it started with a whole body muscle/bone pain and then at night the back pain was really severe and I developed a fever of 37. 4 celcious and sweated that night. I've also been having some neck discomfort burning sensation and randomly noticed a lump after a few days of my fever night. I got an ultrasound that showed several non patholgoically enlarged lymph nodes both under my jaw and right and left side of neck and also the lump one was described in the report as "hypoechoic oval shaped (lymph node?) Measuring 9.5mm".the radiologist also felt an occipital one and said it was most likely also a lymph node. I also had a clear chest X ray and cbc was normal, along with esr, crp and thyroid hormones, LDH, ca-125, ANA, Igh Igm Iga all normal. A hematologist felt my nodes on my neck and the groin ones that are palpatable too on both sides but didnt request even an ultrasound they are pea sized. Also an ENT checked me and said everything ok despite my left ear also echoing loud noises from time to time. So they all dismissed me with having a viral infection but after 3 months lymph nodes are still the same and while stretching my neck I get cramps and when I apply pressure behind my neck it also triggers a muscle cramp and my occipital node feels sensitive. I have off and on muscle cramps all over the body, also jaw bone pain and under cheekbones feel like a pressured from time to time. Constantly I feel my hip flexors kind of going numb or sore when I open or rotate my leg and I feel the inside of my left buttock muscle spasming or tightening. The back pain and back of neck/muscle pressure gets worse at night while laying down. I also tested for covid the flue and some other tests but were all negative. Should I look into this further or could it be a lingering virus still after 2-3 months?
