2024.05.13 18:14 yuei2 An insane theory based on a fragmented dream from last night.

So I was re-watching Dark Road before bed cause why the hell not and one of the things that stuck in my brain was the scene where Odin explains darkness to the kids. How darkness used to be something that would infect and inhabit people as vessels like a disease, but eventually people managed to start producing darkness just by themselves. He said that over the years darkness had managed to reshape humanity but there were no details. As I let that thought linger in my mind as I drifted to sleep my brain conjured quite a wild dream idea....what if it wasn't darkness that reshaped humanity but humanity that reshaped darkness.
So before I explain that let's go over a few important things...
In Missing-Link we know there is a place called the Astral Dimension, it's a space that "connects existence and non-existence, holds fragments of memories called pieces, and is a mysterious space full of heartless but no people with hearts so they invade from it." The Astral Dimension appears to look like Scala due to something called the "layer effect" and it's glitching out as if it's a hologram overlay or something. One of the oddest things here is the existence of the emblem heartless long before they were supposed to be created. This unexplained oddity however first appears not in Missing-Link but instead in Dark Road.
In Dark Road we get quite a revelation about the state of the worlds. First worlds were still being restored as recently as Master Xehanort's youth. Second worlds are restored at different rates and this is what causes them to all have their own time axis. Third there doesn't appear to being any active creation going on, whatever is re-creating the world seems to be some sort of passive system put in place a long time ago. Fourth until a world is recompleted it's filled with heartless, not just pure-blood heartless but emblem heartless are there to and Nomura said this oddity would be explained in Missing-Link.
An empty world devoid of people but filled with heartless....it sounds a little like the astral dimension right? Though it's weird, why are people the last step to come back and furthermore what happens to all the heartless when they do? Why do the heartless infesting these worlds just vanish and no one seems to really have knowledge of them? Hell after the worlds came back why weren't they still be invaded by the astral dimension heartless like Scala constantly was?
Then there is the matter of people themselves, how DID they bring back lost people? It took us a whole lot of trouble to bring back just 3 people and they had existing hearts to work from or at least pieces of them in order to do so. Yet somehow they figured out how to bring back not only the worlds but also the people in them, and what's even stranger is the worlds reformed aren't the past versions we never see but the present/future versions. Like Agrabah when Xehanort's class first visited it there were no people and the setting looked like modern day Agrabah, but when they revisited it later it had gotten further and people existed in it now but not stuff like Jafar's ancestor but the actual Jafar. One possibility of course is that the people themselves are born without hearts like data-sora and grew them over time...but I had a different idea.
With all that in mind let me propose to you what I think may be the truth of the world.
The Astral Dimension still exists but it goes under a different name now, the realm of light.
In order to rebuild the lost world they used book of prophecies (the thing the MoM said was important to shaping the world into what it needed to be and that it needed to be given to Ephemer for that purpose) in conjunction with a refined version of the layer-effect system.
Essentially they set it up so bit by bit using the data from the book they layered over pieces of the astral dimension with specific world data, and then you can think of it a little bit like 3D printing. Going over it again and again printing more and more of the world until it was a physically finalized stable thing instead of the glitching thing we see in Missing-Link. That's what Xehanort's line means by Scala being the nexus from which all worlds spring from, the system recreating the worlds is in scala somewhere.
As for the matter of the people they did the same thing, but instead of layer world data over sections of the astral dimension...they layered people data over the astral dimension's inhabitants.
What are those inhabitants? None other than the heartless and what are heartless but hearts fallen to darkness that have lost themselves. THAT is how they managed to bring back real people. They took raw components, the heartless containing fallen hearts, and reshaped them into people. This is why people are the last thing to come back and the heartless vanished, because at their core the people ARE those heartless.
In essence they built people around the heartless and used the lost hearts held within the heartless to act as the basis for their new heart, in a way the heartless they originally were essentially became locked inside of these people's hearts. Humanity reshaped darkness but couldn't purge it completely, the dark core still exists as a hint to this truth and that is why they have the ability to produce darkness on their own now. Then when these people reproduce they created new beings, new hearts, hearts naturally composed of darkness and light and able to create both.
That is the truth that Xehanort realized, that people aren't people, they are darkness reshaped into people. Their light, their self, their humanity is something was essentially implanted into them, farcical people who produce more of their own kind. People who because they don't even understand their true nature and are in fact told to fear it....have no control of it. They leak darkness out into the world haphazardly and it infects others creating chaos that swallows people and worlds whole. Yet at the same time it's only when they give in and act upon their darkness that they are being true to their core nature and thus Xehanort's belief it be better for people to allow darkness to rule them.
Which ultimately means Emblem Heartless weren't created by Xehanort when he had amnesia, rather they were unleashed from within people who already had them sealed inside. Emblem Heartless came from the book of prophecies, they remained after the original worlds and people fell to plague of darkness, and then they were sealed inside of people by reshaping them into people. Xehanort unleashed them through his experiments and they spread to create more of their kind and the MoM could see this happen and wrote it into the book in the past completing the loop.
With that insane idea out of the way let's look at how this recontextualizes things, particularly the world setup and the walls of light. If we reverse the thinking on the idea that darkness reshaped humanity to humanity reshaped darkness, we can do the same here. The world being deliberately broken and sealed away behind walls wasn't to create just protection but a prison.
The people of Scala rebuilt the world by layering worlds from the book of prophecy over the astral dimension, and they restored the lost people by layering data from people in the book over the heartless. By transforming heartless into people they no longer had to worry about the threat of invasion, but the heartless aren't gone just sealed within and there was always the chance they could escape.
This is where the walls of light come in, they created cages around these worlds as a contingency. If one of these people ended up falling and unleashing the darkness, the heartless, within their damaged would be limited by the walls keeping them contained in that world. Furthermore they stopped layering Scala across the entire astral dimension so there were minimal to no land routes connecting the worlds anymore. The keybladers left themselves a specific pathway into these worlds that bypass the walls and figured out how to transform their keyblades into gliders so they could navigate the space between the worlds. This way keyblades could then strike down those fallen reverting them back to light, essentially keybladers were supposed to be the anti-virus.
Darkness however is a hive-mind, it originally stems from a singular entity that could infect and divide. That means that if all people are darkness at their core then on some subconscious level they are all connected to another through their darkness. That connection is I believe what the corridors of darkness truly are. In Dark Road Xehanort says that the corridors of darkness were filled with negative emotions leaking in from many people, and that explains this. The corridors of darkness are the links between the darkness that connects hearts.
Just as Sora is able with the power of waking to use links between hearts to travel between worlds without without special ships or lanes and the walls still up, corridors are the same. A corridor of darkness is using the darkness that connects every heart to travel worlds. Only by giving into your true dark nature be it briefly through strong negative emotions, transforming yourself into a dark being by fully embracing your darkness (Riku), or transforming yourself into a being that exists in an in-between (Nobodies) can you gain the power to access these paths.
Lasty for people's memories, they should remember the heartless but don't, they should remember Missing-Link and yet it's been said upfront this period of time will be forgotten. I think an explanation for that is that the memory has been deliberately suppressed/re-writen to hide this truth. When the world reaches full completion and all the heartless have been reshaped into people there is a memory rewrite to wipe out any chance of the knowledge carrying over, and then world begins anew in earnest. (Which is why the same Disney events in Dark Road repeated 80+ years later) Starting from the same scripts of their origins but then allowed to evolve and deviate once the script either is derailed or reaches it end, produce new people, new events, etc...
It's not the first time something like this would of happened. That's what happened with the Dandelions, in order to hide the tragedy of the keyblade war the memories of all but the Dandelion leaders were re-written with the excuse that nothing good come from remembering that tragedy. Scala was founded by one of the leaders that knew that happened, Ephemer. While initially against the idea they ended up coming around and agreeing to it. I can very easily imagine he carried that belief and taught it to others thus leading it to happening again.
Scala's system was designed so ultimate people would be free of knowledge of their dark origins, it can't erase their ability to produce darkness but it can at least keep them in the dark on why they do.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories- 20 Years Later

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is quite possibly one of the most popular RPG titles to appear on Game Boy Advance during the 2000ā€™s. The Chain of Memories game was released 20 years ago following the success of the original Kingdom Hearts title that appeared on the PS2 back in 2002. The gameplay Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories was very unique because it was one of the first major card-based battle RPGā€™s that we saw in countries like America during the 2000ā€™s decade. Not only was the card-based battle gameplay innovative but it was also impressive along the real-time combat system something that was never really done before. Square Enix had decided to utilize an isometric map which made Chain of Memories standout from other RPGs. Also, players got to control Sora or Riku who were the main characters in order to defeat various enemies and earn Card Points for learning new skills. Players had the ability to combine different cards in order to create combo attacks.
It should also be noted that both Sora and Rikuā€™s had different stories which made Chain of Memories interesting and added to its overall replay value. Chain of Memories was considered to be special in some ways because it was the prequel to the critically acclaimed Kingdom Hearts 2 title from 2005. Chain of Memories was also the game where Marluxia along with Larxene from Organization XIII make their video game debuts as primary antagonists. Even though, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories had appealed to a niche audience of gamers during the 2000ā€™s it was still one of the best Disney games of that decade. If anything Chain of Memories got overshadowed by the Pokemon and Super Mario franchises during the 2000ā€™s which obviously had a negative impact on its overall sales. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories was a game that could have easily of thrived during the early 90ā€™s on Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis.

2024.05.12 20:31 NumasVanegasTijerina Looking for a Perfect Garden Scent + My list of potential garden fragrances

I wanā€™t to smell like a natural garden - fresh, wet, green, herbal, earthy, aromatic (https://www.fiskars.com/-/media/fiskars/images/legacy/inspiration-tips/gardening/how-to-plant-a-shade-garden/page_main_image_how-to-plant-a-shade-garden.jpg):
But not limited to only these ā€˜ingredientsā€™ because I myself might not know what Iā€™m looking for. I just know I probably donā€™t want it to be citrusy, because thatā€™s immediately a whole different vibe for me. And maybe it shouldnā€™t have a strong floral accord, because it would also overpower my initial green garden wish (but maybe somewhere in the background would help with the photorealistic garden feel?)
I also want to share my 'library' of potential garden scents. Big part of them I havenā€™t even smelled yet so let me know if something from this list matches my criteria. Meaning - if something you would recommend is already in this list, I still want to hear your recommendation! Some are more straightforward green garden, some are less, some are a bit foresty gardens, but all of them are mostly green:

2024.05.11 00:07 Hannah--Bug My Wolf Name Bank

I have so many wolves and I will likely have so many more. This requires a lot of names! For my pups, I use only things that wolves would know about - nature stuff, personality traits, etc... Sometimes it is hard to come up with these, especially in the context of almost-only-Wyoming, lol. I've done a lot of research (but could still do more) to dig up new names. Some of them are pretty funky, so I figured I'd share my efforts! :)
PS, If you want to share names from your own personal collection, I'm all ears! :D

2024.05.10 04:22 Ely-3000 For those who believe that Sora is the Master of Masters. My question here is why?

I disagree with Sora being MoM because "both" possesses a carefree nature or personality.
Seriously this theory is just as bad is that everytime we met a new female character. That character might end up being Kairi's Grandmother or something. It's not that I even that I disagree this theory. Even if you argue it could work with good writing or a decent explanation. It still wouldn't make sense because Sora's character as a whole is that he is just an ordinary kid who gets a free keyblade.
The MoM has a vast knowledge of the Keyblade since he participated in the Keyblade War when he was a young boy from the start. While Sora back then is just an ordinary islander who plays toy swords with Riku.
I would just rather accept that the MoM is just a new character that we are about to meet alongside the Foretellers. I mean if the MoM is Sora then what's next?
Ira is Riku?
Aced is Terra?
Invi is Aqua?
Gula is Ventus?
Ava is Kairi?
Luxu is Xehanort?
Don't tell me that the Foretellers are also going to be an established character or some weird twist that they are their previous incarnations or something. Because the Foretellers are also another characters that we are about to meet who also hide their faces with an animal mask. I don't even care if they shouldn't reveal MoM's identity in KH4 yet. Luxu is also a question as well, we don't know what he really looked like before his body-hopping journey that lead him to possess Braig/Xigbar.
And I think what many people miss the whole point is, we are about to head into a new saga. That they will be the main focus of the next installation of the series. So of course a new arc also means a bunch of new characters. Foretellers are already one of them alongside the Master of Masters and then we have Yozora.

2024.05.09 21:59 A_Lionheart Musings: Darkness is growing up.

Adulthood, more specifically growing up as a man, is a recurring theme in Kingdom Hearts explored through visual elements. I know this might sound a bit weird when stated bluntly, but if you look at the series, Light is related to childhood innocence and precious memories surrounding it. Whereas Darkness is related to being an adult and facing the challenges that come with it.
This series explores the journey of a child who, with his Disney friends, battles an old man who represents the desire to discard those precious memories. Light is associated with childhood innocence and precious memories, while Darkness embodies the challenges and disillusionment that come with adulthood. The game casts you in the shoes of Sora, a young boy, and pits him against Xehanort, an old man. This visual contrast reinforces the thematic connection between age and Light and Darkness.
Those of us who are full adults now are keenly aware of how tough the real world can be, and how deeply hurtful nostalgia of childhood innocence can become. The contrast can easily lead one to despair.
This, of course, affects every person but this game puts you in the shoes of Sora, a young boy, and makes you fight Xehanort, an old man. If the main character was a girl, then the visual and artistic codes used would also be different.
Physically, characters closer to adulthood are also shown to be more developed throughout the series. Testosterone, in a way, is used in this series to signal that a character is closer to adulthood than others, and thus, closer to Darkness. Terra is the most physically mature playable character in the series, and his entire arc is dealing with his Darkness, the looming responsibility of adulthood.
Organization XIII members are mostly adults and appear in a game that starts introducing modern cities and sterile structures as their backdrop, which contrast the Disney worlds and Destiny Islands, places related to fun and games, instead of work and city life.
The image of blindfolded Riku, a teenager, removing it to release his "Darkness" and becoming the physical adult that is Ansem SOD on the backdrop of a modern city to overpower the pre-teen Roxas and deliver him a "dose of reality" is a perfect representation of this theme.
Even now that Sora is 16, he still looks fairly androgynous and has none of the characteristics Riku had at his age, since he's pure Light. If this series ends, I would think, based on the artistic decisions mentioned above, that it will end with Sora becoming an adult with a childlike heart, signaling the importance of keeping that Light within you no matter what. Tackling life's challenges with childhood wonder.
Thank you for reading. This is only meant to point out how some visual elements play into the themes represented in this series, which is one of my favorites when it comes to art direction.

2024.05.09 17:05 TimmyTurnersDad6 Hi, my name is *truck drives by* but everyone just calls me dad.

Note please don't call me dad.
But yes! Hello it's my first time on reddit! A little-lot about me:
  1. I first used reddit as of posting this about 2-ish weeks ago but I've shadowed Reddit for much longer. I never wanted to make an account due to shyness, confusing rules, and the dreaded censorship that seems to plague every platform. (Plz don't ban me reddit, I beg.) However due to my introvertedness taking over more and more, now seemed like a good a time as any!
  2. Yep! The name comes from a Nickelodeon cartoon, and if I have to explain from: Ā¹ how dare you. Ā² we can't be friends!
  3. I browsed over hundreds of subreddits, always thinking if I ever did join - where would I start? I had ideas of where, but not-so-much when...And given said strict rules, I always thought I had a knit and knack for sentence structure, spelling and grammar as I've been complimented on my penmanship and organization skills...yet, reddit I'm sure will truly test me on that. I've been out of an English class for many, many years now. So forgive me in advance I'll try my best!
  4. Speaking of many, many years - I'm not so young and not so old either! It's a mystery. And as per reddit guidelines to not share sensitive information - I suppose I will keep it that way. You'll just have to think of me as an enigmatic mr. magoo-like shape; formless in the hands of it's users, but an organized cut figure in staunch of his allies. Think of Inspector gadget except more mysterious. (And who trips on his own shoelaces.) So...basically Timmy's dad!
  5. I'm a gamer, hobbiest writer and photographer, and a perspective teacher (in my former years) and I plan on adding a bit of each into their respective subreddit categories in some form of time. I write amateur poetry from time to time, stemming from natural & creative to erotic prose gasp! and when I feel like it - short stories. I tend to also gravitate towards shapeable wordless songs and giving them my own spin (like ost's), as well as coming up with songs lyrics of my own. I went to a magnet school in my younger years for all of the above forms of writing as well as screenwriting and playwriting. All of this is fun to me and that's the extent of it. Nothing more. If you stumble upon any of my former pieces searching for an answer as to why I wrote some of the things I said, or why I said them...it comes down to just whatever floats into my peripheral vision in that given moment; sometimes it's music that inspires me, and othertimes it's just what needs to be said. And hey, sometimes I'm blindsided by my blindspots. And other, other, some times I stop using the word "time" so often! Grrr!
  6. As for games, I'm a replayer of not-so-old games that are not so timeless, but not-so new anymore eiGarrett! This is mainly due to financial tightness and that older games charm I can't forget. Games such as:
(There are others, but these are some games I hold dear that come off the top of my head.)
I've found games sometimes help shape and induce flow-like states to help us ease into transitions of moment-to-moment actions defining our playable characters, some. Or in other cases, defining ourselves most when we need to caught between a rock and a hard place...like in a gunfight...(I'm looking you Apex Legends, Uncharted, and Destiny.) But yes, in those instances - I've found that what help shape me along with some of the game's life-lessons taught to our characters, did indeed help shape me into the person I am today. (Inb4 someone says I identify as Harumo-chan the master of hoe-jitsu), lol no I'm saying the best parts about our characters can help shape us sometimes without us even knowing it. (But Harumo-chan did help shape me Timmy, why can't you see that?) More power to you then. The best parts for some and the worser parts for others i suppose. :P
6Ā½. What i mean to the last point is, part of my strength I've found is from when I draw strength from other strong characters I've seen and what they've been through; (or put you through and thus you're going through the sh*t-show together.) Characters that have really inspired me are probably namely Sora, Riku & Roxas from Kingdom Hearts, Nathan Drake from Uncharted, Sonic, and Yusei from Yugioh 5d's. I know, very adult of me right? Mm, I am interested however where others draw their strength from? Which form of medium do they choose, why did they choose it and who do they draw strength from if not in a show or game?
I could talk about why I choose these individual characters but I believe that's best suited for another thread/post. P.s. as for tv shows though? A huge inspiration i draw from is Rick, from the walking dead. I don't watch many new shows anymore. (As for why that is, maybe that's also best suited for another post.)
  1. Speaking of shows - I don't really have time to watch anime all that much but some influential ones I've grown to be very fond of are:
There are others, and I've seen all series of Yugioh and DragonBall alike, but these in particular stood out to me. For DragonBall Super mostly due to the absolute insanity the tournament of power was and that last fight. I've seen other animes or stopped, started and stopped again as I couldn't get invested into them. That's why Golden Time really took me by surprise. Same with Yugioh 5d's and S1 of Sword Art Online. I am interested to see what other subreddits with differing views on what sorts of animes other people prefer or recommend I watch.
Same with games, music or movies.
To wrap up,
Tldr; you can call me Timmy (Timmm-aH!) For short, or even shorter than short - dad, just don't get weird with it, (unless?...no I'm joking, unless?...) and I'm here like anyone else to peruse reddit on useful or entertaining things!
Anything else I'll either edit this big jumbo post or add on later!
Sincerely,
Dad.

2024.05.09 09:20 SuhShenron My Personal Top 9 (Playable Characters)

My Personal Top 9 (Playable Characters)
This ranking is my personal opinion and it goes exclusively by gameplay. I'll be detailing the arguments from worst to best.
Axel / Lea Ranked 9/9 He was not a playable character in any game but I wish we would be able to use him at least during KHIII or Re:Mind. I know he is playable at 358/2 Days but I didn't play that game. He makes it into this Rank just because I refuse to list Xion.
King Mickey Ranked 8/9 He was briefly playable at KHII and displayed an interesting fighting style there. Being so short kinda feels like using Yoda as his movements rely that much in gymmics and speed. He is also a character we can't properly customize, so we have to go with the default shortcuts and adapt to him.
On Re:Mind we can also "control" your Majesty, but we are barely capable of doing anything outside the reaction commands we must follow. So it doesn't really count.
Kairi Ranked 7/9 Another character that is briefly playable during Re:Mind. She also lacks the customization needed to make the most out of her shortcuts and we are forced to play with a default set that's not half comfortable. However, Kairi have some real magic on her. She is rough on her moveset and that alone fits perfect for her character. Yet, it doesn't feel as if her combat style was harmless. You surely can find some charm in that roughness.
Riku Ranked 6/9 Riku is the second when it comes to being playable. We have him at Re:Chain of Memories where he is played exactly like Sora. The gameplay there is as good as your comprensiĆ³n of the game mechanics and your ability to build a consistent deck capable of constantly perform special attacks (seigils if I'm not mistaken).
Then we have Riku at Dream Drop Distance when he also have some notable parity with Sora. At this entry he is played smoothly and there's nothing to complain about. Actually, this is the game when Riku is at is Prime, despite Dream Drop Distance not being the best when it comes to gameplay.
And Finally we got Master Riku at KHIII and with the same issues than Kairi and King Mickey. Not good enough even when he is supposed to be better than ever. So, long story short, Riku is Ranked here because he is so Average and doesn't exceed when he has to.
Terra Ranked 5/9 Terra is playable exclusively at Birth by Sleep. There he has some troubles regarding mobility but feels just great once you learn how to handle that disadvantage. In order to do so you have to take advantage over his strength and rely on it to master close combat. Blocking instead of dashing is the key to his success. Sadly, many people learn this the hard way (late in the game) or doesn't even learn it. But all that aside, he has some serious commands that are exclusive to himself.
Birth by Sleep is magnificent and his gameplay is just brilliant. Maybe people were hoping to see a more aggressive behaviour on Terra, closer to the one displayed by Lingering Will at KHII. That would be great indeed, however it wouldn't fit the character and would built a huge wall between his ability and the strength of his partner's.
Roxas Ranked 4/9
I know his featured game is 358/2 Days and I hope his Dual Wielding had shine there as brightly as it did during Re:Mind. He is the last character that was briefly playable at the DLC but he is just insane to play despite not being able to customize. As I said, I didn't played 358/2 Days so I don't know how's the gameplay there. But if it goes as good as it is on Re:Mind, that's just great.
Sora Ranked 3/9 There is so much around Sora and I sincerely didn't know where to set him. He is the main character, and so he has been the shining star of the Main installments, as well as the face of almost all the Portable entries. Just as someone replied on my previous post: "Sora wins by virtue of time, depth, and variety." However I'm taking into account all of the games where he was playable and his gameplay evolution through all of them.
I wont stop to detail how did Sora performed in Re:Chains of Memory and Dream Drop Distance. He is almost the same as Riku on that games and there's nothing more to add than the things I already have said. However, there is that Sora that's not exactly Sora who featured Re:Coded. I didn't play with him either so I don't know he is played, but his gameplay seems inferior to the one displayed on the first Kingdom Hearts. Let's leave Data Sora alone and just jump straight into the main installments.
Kingdom Hearts have a rough and unpolished gameplay, in the bad sense of the word. Even Chain of Memories feels better once you have mastered it and Dream Drop Distance is way beyond of it in that regard. Despite that, there are some selected moves that feels good and are exciting. The customization is present from the beginning to the end and you end up getting used to the pace proposed by the title.
Now, KHII is a Story apart. It is a massive improvement over KH and the addition of Forms drastically changes everything. Sora is way more versatile there and his moveset reaches unexpected heights. The reaction commands are another great addition and we can also experience Dual Wielding thanks to the aformentioned forms. That's the reason why Sora is Ranking over Roxas.
Finally, at KHIII Sora enhances mobility by adding Shotlocks, Free Flow and Phantom Step. The Forms translating to the Keyblade instead of remaining as they were is not necessarily an improvement, though many players see that as a step back. However, it is not that bad as the limitations in the Magic Spells or the unnecessary attractions.
The one and only thing I can complain about those last entries is the block stance used by Sora. It takes time to get used to it and once you do it is no longer a big deal. But, though stylish, I would prefer if he doesn't flip around in order to block. In that regard Terra does it simpler, and therefore better.
Ventus Ranked 2/9 Ventus is played exclusively at Birth by Sleep. Out of the three main characters there, he is the one that make the most out of the gameplay proposed by the title. He is the fastest and that alone makes him the most versatile and the most dynamic. His exclusive commands aren't the best but they don't fall too far from the ones displayed by his friends.
What really outstands about Ventus are his exclusive command styles, especially Wingblade that feels as some sort of advanced "multiple wielding". When it comes to mobility and exploring there's also a notable exclusive called Super Glide.
And last but not least, there's just something very iconic and special in his fighting stance and his reversal wielding. The Keblades exclusive for him, and specially Lost Memory, give some sort of visual satisfaction and provide variation.
Aqua Ranked 1/9 She is playable at three titles, each one of them not as good at gameplay as the previous entry. At KHIII Master Aqua is just like Riku and has the same customization issues. Even so, the shadow of what she was at Fragmentary Passage allow the player to connect with her moveset easily.
At Fragmentary Passage she completely sets our expectations for KHIII Magic Attacks. The five she introduced there was the five we end up learning later on with Sora. At least she had them Maxed out right from the start and showed us for the first time how Grand Magic looks.
But talking seriously, 0.2 was a breaking point that forced Aqua to served as a DEMO and translate the Command based system she displayed at Birth by Sleep into the basic Magic based system KHIII ended up using. She did it great but also lost much of her charm by doing so.
And finally, her original gameplay at Birth by Sleep was just perfect. Slightly inferior to Ventus (in my personal opinion) but just as solid and just as enjoyable. Aqua has so much style without even the need of doing gymmics or complex stuff. Her exclusive commands and her Cartwheel alone are more than enough to give the most balanced experience out of the three main characters.
Unlike Ventus, she can also be played aggressively like Terra and work just as fine. And unlike Terra she can be played swiftly like Ventus and get the same results. She is Master Aqua from the begging to the end of the story, and the one that goes beyond the end to the final and the secret episodes. And that's why she is my number one.

2024.05.09 03:13 Mugen_Hero_Fan Finished my first Kingdom Hearts game and hereā€™s where I would rank it

Finished my first Kingdom Hearts game and hereā€™s where I would rank it
Overall a nice good start to the series and a fun game to play, at least once I got past the tutorial section although Iā€™ll admit for some reason as I got further into the game and got more abilities for Soraā€™s combos the gameplay felt less slow and thatā€™s good although my biggest gripe Iā€™d say for this game is seeing the enemy health bars is a ability you equip.
For my favorite story boss that honor goes to Dark Riku round two (electric bugaloo) it felt fun to fight him in a 1v1 to me he felt fair and balanced and honestly I wish I had a save just before the fight so I can do a few battle with him, so might do a second playthrough just to be able to infinitely rematch him.
Favorite secret boss is either Sephiroth (how original I know) and Unknown (I actually donā€™t know his name right now so donā€™t spoil me please) both felt fun fights and I felt they were fairly fair (outside of Unknownā€™s stupid shock move) yet when I faced them both while completely underprepared (aka not max level with the Ultima Weapon) they destroyed me.
Least favorite boss goes to the Trickster: this guy was just not fun for me to fight honestly wouldnā€™t have complained to have a version of him in the Coliseum so I can just slaughter him now that I have high jump but we canā€™t always win sadly.
Story was alright I feel Maleficentā€™s group could have been a bit more interesting and not barely feel like a group instead of just villains of the weak in each world as if I skipped the early cutscene where we see they are a group I would have only though Captain Hook, and Jafar were allys of Maleficent, and Riku to me felt to easily convinced to go evil, and us only seeing 2 (3 if you count Kairi) of the princesses of hearts before the second to last world and even then Alice feels like a stretch of having met her as you basically just saw her in a cage before she got kidnapped.
But overall Iā€™m more focused on gameplay and it was fun much faster in the end then I thought it was comparing it to the other games I know of for this series, and Iā€™m looking forward to playing re:chain of memories (or in this tier list I found online just Chain of Memories as Iā€™m to lazy to make my own) despite knowing itā€™s more of a card game.

2024.05.09 00:20 TheQueenCassie In Defense of BBS, and why I think the poor design of Mysterious Figure taints the game unfairly

Birth by Sleep as a game has a few fundamental design flaws. We all know this, we've heard it countless times from every KH Youtuber under the sun, from Stickman Sham to Bio-Roxas to even Regular Pat. The combos are stale, the command styles force you to change up playstyle, Ventus and Aqua have i-frames built into their dodges meaning you can literally cartwheel or dodge roll infinitely and never get hurt while Terra does not have i-frames in his dodge, Terra overall is too slow, and so on. That's nevermind some of the potential story issues -- though I do think here the game is unfairly maligned for treating character decisions as if they make no sense when in-universe they make plenty of sense -- IE, why does Terra trust Master Xehanort? Because he's raised as a sheltered kid, told to practically worship Masters, and has no context to understand otherwise.
But, here's the thing: I think a lot of these flaws actually, in a no-doubt unintentional manner, can be seen as strengths of the game. How so? Well, consider what we know about TVA versus Sora and Riku. They've been trained to be keyblade wielders, they're shown mastery of the art, they have tactics and abilities that Sora and Riku simply lack. Shotlocks, for example, are a perfect way of illustrating something they can do with their keyblades that only Sora ever truly approximated with Ragnarok. However, that very same training leaves them set in doing things in a particular style and manner. The clunkiness of their combos is because they were trained to do that over and over till it's all they can imagine doing.
In other words, their training leaves them with a lack of creativity. Sora and Riku learn from their opponents -- we see this in KH 1 especially, where Sora picks up on techniques after watching the enemy do things, from learning Cure magic after seeing Clayton healing himself and fighting alongside Tarzan who can also heal, to learning Ars Arcanum sword slashing from Hook's flurry of blows and Peter's swift strikes, and so on. He picks up techniques in KH2 that often would've been of huge benefit in the very fight where you learn them, like Explosion obtained after helping the solar sailor reach the MCP. They're flexible, adaptable, and can switch things up in a way that TVA can't, or at least take a long time to learn how to.
This plays well to the game's story. And the truth is, for 99.9% of this game, even the added bosses in Final Mix, these flaws don't really stop you from being victorious. Sure, you have to do some pretty silly tactics, but even on level 1 crit you can do all of these challenges. It's hard, it's often unfair, but you can make it through. And for what the game is doing, that's plenty.
And then there's this asshole.

Pictured: The worst boss in the entire franchise.
Mysterious Figure overshadows everything for the gameplay enthusiasts, and bogs down the game in a way that has made him still, as of the time of this posting, unbeatable by me, and by the vast majority of players. Why? Because he takes every last flaw in the game and turns it up to eleven. Infinite i-frames from dodging? Better design the boss to take that into account and give you almost zero room for error! Want to have a chance of surviving even a single attack? Better have Second Chance and Once More or else everything is a one shot! Want to heal? Better have Renewal Block and hope your button presses time correctly and that your block is actually aimed properly at the boss (If you're Terra and Ven) or that you don't accidentally dodge at the wrong second (If you're Aqua.) Think you've done some damage? Nope, the boss can randomly break out Renewal Block of his own and heal off your attacks. Expect to get in even a single keyblade swing? Nah, if you don't have surge moves in your deck you might as well give up and cry because you're not hitting him ever.
Oooh, ooh, and let's not forget his power to randomly turn back time by a few seconds like he's the Prince of Persia and, typically, blast you with that attack that sends your commands scattering everywhere because he happened to move in just the right way, which of course like everything else about the guy is entirely random. Set patterns of attack? Nah, he might open the fight by shooting an orange X at you or he might open it with the forever-clone move that takes way too long and if it catches you even once you're done because it usually leaves you stunned at the end so you can't dodge or block or heal. And if all of that wasn't enough, he can turn invisible and violate the basic design of the camera system in these games by being impossible to keep track of -- at least with prior invisible enemies you could still lock onto them because the designers understood that was required to not be completely flailing in the dark!
This one superboss -- and admittedly Vanitas Remnant shares a bit of this too but at least he can be cheesed by sticking him against a rock -- completely and totally ruins the game for a lot of people. This game already had enough to cope with, being accessible to most via the HD collections which do not make it clear that it was originally designed and made for the PSP, and plays as such. They go straight from 2FM to BBS, and that's already a downgrade in most ways, and even I as someone who prefers both I and III over 2FM recognizes this. The game then has you play through it three times in a story structure that makes logical sense but can definitely feel repetitive and frustrating to the player. But then you add onto that the main superboss, the final boss of the next game, is so unbelievably broken, and it takes what little goodwill the game had from it's fairly well paced story and tragic ending and flushes it down the toilet for so many people, because they can't beat this boss. People who've conquered the Data Fights and Lingering Will of 2FM (Like me) will break their controllers in frustration over how poorly designed this fight is.
And I think that's unfortunate. I can understand where it comes from and why, but it is frustrating how much this one experience poisons the game for people who play these games more for gameplay than story. And even those who play for story and experience first -- IE me -- and who love this game otherwise... it's just painful, excessively difficult, and patently unfair. Say what you will about how difficult the fights in 2FM could be, but at least they had patterns, they had recognizable openings, they actually got caught in combos (at least till you hit their revenge value) and you had options. I've beaten No Heart first try, but I cannot for the life of me defeat the Mysterious Figure.
He's the worst superboss in the series, and his existence is far too heavy a presence on a game that, while it had issues, at least found a way -- albeit unintentionally -- to use most of those issues as a strength to its overall narrative structure. This game is still fourth on my list of rankings for the series, but it's understandable why so many rate the game so much lower, when the Mysterious Figure looms over all as this ridiculously unfair, nigh unbeatable challenge.

Kingdom Hearts Theories: The Crown Necklace and a Promise to Protect
What are your thoughts on "The Necklace Theory"? It's a theory that has been around for a while now.
I personally find it to be likely! I mean it really just makes sense. Namine placing herself in the memory makes it seem like she was taking Kairi's place in the memory, however Kairi wasn't on the island at the time for it to be her.
There were two people involved and the only people there would have been Riku and Sora.
Not to mention that Riku promising to protect Sora (his precious person) fits his character perfectly. Perhaps this promise was made even before Terra showed up? It would make since Riku tells Terrra he needs the strength to "protect what (WHO) matters."
This theory is just yet to be officially revealed canon to me at this point.

2024.05.06 20:00 Necessary_Way486 Guys not gonna lie but I didn't liked the final fight with xemnas

Like was there even a proper explanation how he is keep coming back every time after almost dying then for some reason he gets inside blue eyes white dragon and starts flying and somehow sora and riku were lucky as that flying disc was near them for some reason then after defeating that form xemnas for some reason was able to use shadow clone jutsu like bro what!! and the most disappointing thing about this fight we can't even use drive forms!!! like I know guys we have to have two companions to use them . but then what is the purpose of having these forms if we can't even use them during boss fights like why

2024.05.06 04:40 Ok-Opportunity-4999 KH4 Prediction: Riku will die. (Again)

KH4 Prediction: Riku will die. (Again)
So now that KH3 has been out for a while I think it's time to discuss how most of the KH games always hint at Riku "falling to darkness" or "being swept away by the waves". These symbolisms have now been deepened. Water isn't just about the balance of "Light and Dark" but of "Life and Death" itself. So at the beginning of KH3 when we Sora re-act the intro to KH1 it's not just a callback but actually trying to tell us something. KH1 we see him get take by the water and plunged into Darkness and in KH3 we see an orb of light being overtaken by water. But since it's KH3 "Water" in this case refers to "Death". What happens later in KH3? He dies. Sora did save him but at such a huge cost he can basically never do that again. So now Riku has absolutely no safety net preventing him from completely dying. If you look at KH3 in a certain way you can see it as the "embrace of death" how all destinies all lead to the same road, The Final World. When Riku is dreaming of Sora at the ending of 3 he's touching the edge of death again! He is constantly teetering on death and the entire game seems to be flagging/symbolizing exclusively just Riku for dying. Which I find interesting because in KH3 basically everyone dies but given what we know NOW it's clear that KH3 was foreshadowing his death from the start but what I want to really point out is that it's only Riku they're hinting will die the whole story. We even see him drowning in the water after the demon tower got him. Replica Riku was the person who saved him from dying. So technically Riku avoided Death twice in KH3 alone but how long will this lucky streak last? If KH3 entire purpose was to explain how dying works in KH then it's really not looking good for Riku in KH4. If he wasn't going to Quadratum in the ending of Melody of Memory I would just assume him to be safe but if he's going where "True Darkness" resides it makes me uneasy.
Once this thought entered my mind I even started to realize how every KH game has Riku basically sacrificing himself everytime for Sora and the gang. KH1 he seals himself in the Realm of Darkness, KH2 he lets Xemnas wail on him with his lightsabers so Sora could get an opening, and in KH3 he braves the tornado to encourage Sora to keep fighting even to the very end.... Oh my god he's going to die.

2024.05.04 09:51 0m3ga_8oreal1s Missing Reality theory and Mirror Theory and findings

I come to you today with some theories that I came up with, and wanted to share them with you in hopes that, since I can't make any videos right now, that you might be interested to see these.
Firstly, one I call Mirror Theory, and the other, the Missing Reality theory.
My connections are as follows, and I think that either are plausible as explanations for these.
-The appearance of the Darkside heartless in the ML new beta almost exactly matches the KH4 trailer
-We also can observe from the beta that it seems that in terms of society progression, ML Scala does not seem too far off from our present day with regards to the sophisticated scanning tech, almost modern housing and horticulture, and even a dedicated police force- something I don't think we have seen thus far from a KH original world
-In the secret Yozora boss fight, we get lines such as "This isn't what I really look like", "No, this isn't the real world", and "Why do you look like Sora?"
-Given the dialog from the Dive to the Heart sequence's end, they mention seeing 'several signatures departing right at the moment of the collapse' , 'we have the one we found, but the others are too far out to reach' , and 'what's this other reading?' All seem to point to a direct connection between the end of Ux and likely the scientists we see in the beta, and I think the surprise arrival was none other than the ML Player arriving uninvited.
-Yozora says, "I appeared in this world, and after a series of trials, I was told to 'Save Sora' ". Now where have I heard that before? It's beginning seems to line up with the beginning of the ML Player. Connection with 'this isn't what I look like'?
-The way the Astral Plane from ML functions is suspiciously similar to certain details we can observe in the Yozora cutscene and fight, namely that it has some 'layer' system and that directly alters its appearance and the fact that the AP is devoid of other life aside from Yozora and Sora
My Missing Reality Theory is that ML Scala never existed in Reality, but was always on the other side, and after unknown events and some passage of time, it became what we now know to be called Quadratum.
For all the above, I believe that it may be the case that, when Sora is whisked away by the Power of Waking, that it destroyed his Reality body, and his heart was shoved across the barrier to - the Astral Plane
I think this also makes it possible that the Missing Link Player is Yozora, likely from during the end of or after ML but before Dark Road.
Relating to Mirror Theory, generally I think the idea behind it is fairly easy to pick up on, as there is evidence of Unreality being some sort of parallel to Reality but different. In this theory though, I would say that Quadratum would be the Unreality reflection of ML Scala, given the comparative technology.
-Mirror Theory could also explain both the fact that Sora's Dive to the Heart and the ML Player are extremely similar, even down to waking up on a beach and fighting a Darkside there, as well as the fact that Yozora seems to know Sora but not our Sora.
It should be noted that this next bit would actually clash with Missing Reality while seeming to confirm it, but perhaps the reason the two Dive to the Hearts are so similar is because they are the reflections of the same character.
Following that line of thinking, it would make Yozora the mirror to Riku, and here's why I think so: we see both Riku and Yozora have the ability to steal Sora's Keyblade, and both have shown something that appears to be control or influence over Sora's heart (Riku in 3D, and Yozora with the Shibuya 'layer' over Sora's Station platform). Add on that both have a mission to "Save Sora" sure seems like a connection.
Also worth note:
-in accordance with Missing Reality, it would mean that Ephemer and the Ux Player did not just travel through time, but to Unreality, arriving at different points in time relative to them. This would also likely be where we saw Brain end up.
-My mini-theory for the Luxu-Brain situation is in line with Missing Reality, and I offer that perhaps, in a similar situation to Sora, what happens is that the Heart was separated from the body, with Luxu retaining the old Brain's body and sending him to where Ephemer went, while the Power of Waking destroyed Sora's body and cast him out into Unreality himself. The times they each left Reality would also line up with when they arrived to Unreality, with Ephemer being first, followed by Brain, then the Ux Player shortly after, and lastly much later Sora.
-It could be possible that, since we know not what happened to Ephemer near presumably the end of his time in Scala, he could still have somehow managed to rebuild a lifeboat and successfully sent himself back to Reality, allowing him to be there to connect to any Ancestry related theories, as well as giving a source to how the ML Scala might have had a lifeboat.
-Scala seems to be the main base of operations from which you adventure out throughout the story of ML, and we know from Nomura that KH4 also features a 'hub world's that we set out on adventures to other places from. Potential Missing Reality thread?
-Unreality is referred to as being 'beyond light and darkness' and 'completely outside the normal realms'. Freya also says something about the Astral Plane being connected to Scala but outside it
