2024.06.09 23:50 KnightGhost721 Concept: Operation Ominous Howl (Disclaimer: Long Post)

SEASON OVERVIEW

Ominous Howl initial teaser image. Original artwork by Gaetan Perrot for BF2042 on ArtStation. Edited by me to include the indigo-colored smoke effect.
Hello Siege players, this is a concept for a season I've been working on for a little while, it includes a brand new Attacker from Siberia, a brand new map set in a fortified manor in a private island, as well as a few other quaility-of-life and gameplay changes. Keep in mind my foccus in more so on the new additions, those being the brand new Operator and Map, so the other topics may not sound as detailed or refined as them.

NEW MAP: ESTATE

Estate is the brand new map featured in Operation Ominous Howl, it takes place in the fortified manor of the Romanov Estate, a family of Russian Oligarchs with political, military and industrial ties, as well as the home of KOHHN PMC's CEO herself, Natalya Romanova. The map is located on a private island in the Mediterranean Sea, which has a somewhat tropical look, taking place at sunset, with a very refined aesthetic to the manor itself.
Of course, to differentiate the ambiances for each floor and section of the map, different themes are presented, similar to Lair in Y8S4.
(please note that the reference images used above are used directly from MW3's Oligarch campaign mission and are meant to be EXCLUSIVELY illustrative, they are not my work, they are not 100% true to what I pictured for the map itself)

OPERATOR MASTERY SYSTEM

https://preview.redd.it/n4e4mnb3xl5d1.png?width=3931&format=png&auto=webp&s=89efb064727d28b7fd2e5648c5dbdb30fcc5e466
Following in the footsteps of Rainbow Six: Extraction, the introduction of the Operator Mastery System allows players to level up and unlock unique cosmetic rewards for their favorite operators by simply playing the game.
Each operator will have their own individual progress of up to 10 different levels, unlocking unique cosmetic rewards such as mastery uniforms and headgears, weapon skins, card backgrounds and portraits. These masteries also include seasonal rewards as a way to encourage players to also play a wider variety of Operators for the duration of the season.

RANKED 2.0 REWARDS UPDATE

https://preview.redd.it/yw3b27aqyl5d1.png?width=3931&format=png&auto=webp&s=aeb62bb17fc7886650e6df942a96b96d12854564
As in a soft update to the recent addition of ranked-exclusive Headgears, Ominous Howl will add full fledged Uniforms, Universal Weapon Skins for each rank, Operator Portraits and more. It should be noted that only Platinum and above ranks feature Operator Portraits, while the lower ranks will feature a Bravo Pack instead.
The rewards for each rank division will be:
[Rank] V - Weapon Charm, [Rank] IV - Uniform, [Rank] III - Card Backrgound (universal), [Rank] II - Operator Portrait, [Rank] I - Headgear.

NEW OPERATOR: GARM

https://preview.redd.it/ya104v1y1m5d1.png?width=3931&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b4d74584457323a287ff92d4aeea3e7a310b06a
The new Attacking Operator coming with Operation Ominous Howl is Garm, a mysterious strategistc and black ops specialist affiliated with Deimos' sinister Keres Legion.
Lore-wise, Fyodor "Garm" Volkov is a former member of the elusive Bodark unit from the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise and the acting Commander of the KOHHN PMC Group, founded and owned by Russian Oligarch Natalya Romanova (as you may have noticed, the owner of the Estate map). Here's a better look as his lore and in-game bio:
https://preview.redd.it/5ftbmziv2m5d1.png?width=499&format=png&auto=webp&s=011c90011319732452b11ee3ba40c1fefea3d964
Garm's Background
Garm's Specialist Profile
Garm's Training and Relevant Experience
Garm's Gadget Evaluation
Gameplay-wise, Garm is a 2 Speed, 2 Health support-style Attacker who specializes in creating aggressive openings for his team to push key positions of the map by suppressing Defenders who would otherwise take advantage in such positions.
Original art by Jean-Christophe Alessandri for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Edited by me via adding the blue LEDs and smoke effect.
M-RAK Charge gadget icon.
Garm's gadget is the M-RAK CHARGE, a special flying drone that travels forward in a set path, releasing a powerful toxic gas that severy hinders Defenders' senses once affected by it. Do keep in mind that the dark blue smoke cloud itself is not meant to directly obstruct vision in the same way a regular Smoke Grenade would. Instead, it works more like FENRIR's F-NATT Mines, only affecting those who come in direct contact with the gas itself.
The gadget works like this: Garm deploys his M-RAK Drone, which statys hovering in place until further notice, he can then choose (via the alternate button) to make the drone travel forward or to the left or right and then remotely trigger it to charge forward (much like RAM's BU-GI). The drone will then charge in the chosen direction, leaving behind a cloud of blue smoke than, once in contact with it's prey, will obscure vision (like Fenrir), slow down movement (like Melusi or Barbed Wire) and make it's victims cough relatively loud. It should also be noted that Garm himself (and him exclusively) is immune to the effects of the gas.
Of course, the gadget isn't without it's own set of disatvantages. Mute's Jammers or Tubarão's Zoto Canisters will prevent the drone from being triggered once it's already been deployed, and they will stop it's movement once already triggered. The drone itself is bulletproof but it has a blue canister on it's bottom which can be shot to destroy it. Explosives are another alternative.
Garm starts with only 1 M-RAK Charge, and can gain up to a max of 3 over the course of the round. His loadout was created with the help of Rainbow Six Siege developer Justin Loranger-Ahluwalia, who gave me some incredible insights on what would work best for this operator and his gadget, so MASSIVE thanks to Justin for the help.
https://preview.redd.it/av6zgd5b5m5d1.png?width=3248&format=png&auto=webp&s=c493a1ce32121931a807a224dffcda1bcf5c14cc
Primary Weapons
Secondary Weapons:
Gadgets:
Garm's entire loadout sets around 2 different playstyles one can have while deploying the M-RAK, those being either a Support or Aggressive playstyles.
The C-X50 Stalker is a brand new DMR exclusive to Garm. It's design is inspired by a wide variety of different precision and anti-material rifles, customized to have a modernized "heavy duty" look. The weapon itself is chambered in 12.7x55mm and semi-auto. It also comes with a custom 2.5x Scope that can't be removed, similar to Deimos' .44 Vendetta.
https://preview.redd.it/mpiy3umy5m5d1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=6201031744a54e768dd76af4fd006eef25242667
Stats are as follows:
70 Damage / ~420 RPM Fire Rate / 10+1 Capacity / Moderate-Low Recoil
The C-X50 is good for a medium-long range support to pick off desperate victims of the M-RAK drone, and is especially nice when paired up with Garm's SPSMG9 secondary SMG.
The POF-9 assault rifle is meant for more aggressive pushes on key positions or suppressive fire with it's large magazine capacity. When I first presented Justin with the idea, he suggested the V308 for a suppressive/aggressive role, however, due to it's high damage profile, it would've been too strong and make Garm a heavy frag operator, so I kept the suppressive idea and went with the POF-9 as a somewhat weaker option for balancing purposes. As one may guess, his Keratos .357 is meant to synergize with the POF.
The original idea had Impact EMP Grenades and Smoke Grenades as secondary gadget options, however, with Justin's help, the Smokes were swapped for Claymores. The EMPs synergize with the support role of the operator himself, and can help him clear the path of Mute Jammers or other gadgets that can disturb the usage of the M-RAK. Alternatively, Claymores provide flank-watch help while Garm and his team can have their foccus on the push itself.
And that's a wrap I guess..? I'd appreciate some feedback down bellow so I can improve on future concepts and please be gentle when doing so, this is was made by a single person who also has a full time job and family to take care of so it's obviously not the best out there. If you've read it all the way down here, I hope you enjoyed your time, have a wonderful day and take care!

2024.06.09 23:48 throwra-cons What's your go-to, lazy method of cleaning the exterior of your car?

I'm honestly terrible at keeping my car clean. I live on country dirt roads so it doesn't help my motivation when I know the second I leave, any hard work I do will immediately be soiled.
The outside of my car looks so filthy though and I've had enough of it, but I'm admittedly lazy about this.
What's the quickest, easiest way to clean the exterior of your car?
Anytime I try to be lazy about it, it ends up being very obvious because there's literally circle marks where I scrubbed.
My lazy method is to rinse a bucket, full with water, put a bit of auto cleaner in it, take a giant sponge and scrub in circles. Then wait a few minutes and rinse. But it always ends up streaky and very obvious I half aas attempted to do it 😂

2024.06.09 23:48 AnkiLanguageLover Importing Wikipedia Spreadsheet?

Ok…this might be a long shot. I want to memorize the Names, Dates, and have some mapping of which museums as a deck covering the full ouvre of certain painters. Wikipedia has all of this in a handy chart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_works_by_Mary_Cassatt - for instance. I know I need to download the individual paintings for quality, but is there any way to copy and make cards easily from the chart itself? Or convert it to csv so I can work from that? I know it’s a long shot and entering it manually could be instructional, but this is a passive learning project so I’d rather just have a deck!

2024.06.09 23:43 Perfect-Boat7708 2015 Chrysler 200 AC has barely blowing air out.

Hello I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 car that recently started only blowing air (still blows cold air) at a very low pressure despite me turning the AC knob up to full blast. I recently changed out the resistor and blower motor two years ago (2022) because I had an ac issue back then. Everything has been fine up until a week ago (2024) where now I'm just getting very weak airflow. I tested the blower motor by simply removing the blower from the pod thing it stays in and I watched it spin. It even sped up faster as I moved the control to a higher speed. The air filter doesn't look insanely dirty. I tested this by removing that before removing the blower motor. Still no change in airflow. I changed out the fuse for the AC mini 10. I even bought a new resistor. Whenever I got the new resistor I installed it and to my surprise the fan would not blow at all. I kept the fan out of the pod it stays in under the dashboard to watch it. I installed the old resistor I had originally in and it started blowing fine. I figured that the resistor I ordered off of RockAuto was just a bad resistor so I ordered another one and same issue, new resistor from rock auto won't allow blower to spin. I'm very confused. Does anyone have any advice about what is happening?

2024.06.09 23:30 AfterTelevision888 singing live

singing live
it’s nice to actually hear the girls sing live (and acoustic !!) and actually hear P sing live !! she sounds so full of auto tune and the times we have heard her live it was evident she didn’t have much training, it’s nice to hear that she has actually improved over the last few months and can actually sing, it’s a shame with what the siwa’s do to her voices on the recordings.
I do think for the age they are, this is incredible, they definitely should sing more rather than doing the backing track “live” singing

2024.06.09 23:27 ToothbrushStealer Really Bad Gas Mileage

I seen a post talking about GT500 gas mileage and am wondering why mines lower when I have an auto 2020 Mustang GT
Even when I drive just normal typically i’m driving city highways so 35-50mph with stopping
Yet I struggle to ever get above 200 miles of range on a full 16 gallon tank. I’ve never seen it’s above 205 miles of range.
I’m typically around 190 and all this car has is a K&N intake from when I bought it
Any reason why it’s eatting so much gas? I feel like it’s way lower than most peoples range now and idk why.

2024.06.09 23:24 HateMeetings LG Dishwasher Cycles... Geeking Out and LG Doesn't Help

You all need a flair for #geekingout lol... (and I know there are other dishwasher and laundry machine forums in the world for those who need to geek... and I am right now!)
So here is the Geek. My old Kenmore had excellent documentation. I could tell you what each cycle did, the water expended, that Auto would changes time and temp and cycle up to a pot wash basically. And iirc when it did what.
LG's docs, paper-based and online and definitely meh. And if it is a download cycle, useless. I think they might apply as generically as possible to all their dishwashers, so it never applies to any. Oh and while I believe the Quad wash pro does a fine job, their consumer marketing spiel is non-existent (my own limited science background tells me there is mechanical action involved if micro bubbles hit a plate and burst)
Anyone aware of a service manual or some such documentation that might have answers online somewhere or know the answers?
Like for the life of me, not quite sure how heavy vs pot wash differ (pot wash is downloaded) because on many DWs heavy replaces pot wash. Casserole? No details, on it. how does Auto adjust (never ever have seen the time change but the manual says it will, but maybe that is some other DW), Why do I have the option of Delicate (for glassware) and can download Glassware. Or when does steam kick in (once, twice, prewash, final?)or what types of soil it is ideal for? (other than necessary for the sanitize cycle). Why is the Clean cycle so short? (not nearly as long as heavy or pot wash)
Just geeking out...
Ty in Advance.

2024.06.09 23:17 Lawschoolhope11 Construction Defects After Moving In - 2 Years Later (Within Warranty)

Hi Everyone - I bought a new construction townhome two years ago and before the 1 year warranty mark, I sent a long list of everything that needs to be fixed. Since I sent written proof before the 1 year warranty date, the builders are obligated to fix everything on that list.
Eventually they fixed a lot on the list; however, there is one big issue that they haven't fixed and refuse to find a professional to fix it (using a fix all contractor right now). My first floor had several bubbles (wood flexing up and down when stepped on) and the concrete below it was not leveled. This is engineered hard wood and they are designed to be installed as floating floors due to the concrete.
Context (will keep dates as years but I am within the warranty):
Mid 2022: Bought home
Early 2023: Reported that the 1st floor is uneven
Early 2024: One year later, removed the floor and found that the concrete was not even (this is when I started not having any flooring in my first floor, just concrete)
It has been 104+ days since they started this whole floor removal/installation and I have had not been able to use my first floor and garage ever since (garage is full of flooring material). Leadership refuses to acknowledge my concerns, worry, and inconveniences (personal, work) that this has caused and will continue to cause. I am just wondering if there are any legal actions that I can pursue?
Ultimately, this has caused a lot of inconveniences for my family and the fact that I can't even use 1/3 of the house that I have purchased 2 years ago is crazy to me.
I have submitted BBB complaints and State AG complaints and nothing has made the builders move faster.
Looking for any advice. Thank you!

2024.06.09 23:06 TheOneNOnlyRabbit Some oddity in AE-1 light meter - Not sure if I'm just stupid

So I've got an AE-1, and everything works perfectly except seemingly the light meter. In low light situations it will (correctly) drop the needle and flash the underexposure light. The weird thing is that it will do this for every shutter speed except 1/15 and 1/8, where it suggest f1.4/f2. This happens both with auto mode and fiddling around with aperture in manual. I doubt doing this will actually give a correct exposure as the camera thinks a longer shutter speed than 1/8 will still underexpose, so it could be an issue or just me being a bit stupid.

2024.06.09 22:57 External-Video8332 325xi manual swap

Hi all,
I currently have a 2005 325xi which is currently automatic and I am looking to buy a transmission for it. What is a good price to pay for a 6 speed awd gearbox? I have read that the transfercase from an auto can work with a manual gearbox so I intend on buying only the transmission and not the TC as well. When I look in ebay or marketplace there usually a wide range of prices and im just not sure what a good deal would be considered as.
Thank you all so much for reading, have a good day.

2024.06.09 22:47 Mayjaplaya I briefly test-drove a 2024 (ND3) Miata

Tl;dr it's a bit better now.
Disclaimer: I've had my '93 for 7 years now and also test-drove every generation, from a 1.8 NA to a MSM with a Flyin' Miata "Li'l' Enchilada" and a 3.63 final drive ratio (very nice) to a friend's mom's slightly tired NC1 to an ND1 soft-top to an ND2 RF.
I was at a Miata meet hosted by a local Mazda dealership. Good times and all that. When the meet was over, I slid in a cheeky "so, could you hook me up with a test drive of the new one?" to the operations manager. I had read all up about the new diff, tuned steering, and bigger infotainment screen, and since I was already there I thought I might as well.
Unfortunately they only had automatics to demo there, but I had already driven the ND1 and ND2 in manual (very nice) and I mainly wanted to examine the steering, so I said yes to an auto anyway. (I gotta get the auto thing out of the way early: man, it just shifts slow even in sport mode. Sometimes pretty slurry too. Like, just a little better than my dad's Infiniti JX35's CVT's fake gears, but it's sadly close. I don't know if the transmission gets better with "learning", but I did one hard charge to the rev limiter after getting warmed up and the auto shifted itself at only 7,100 rpm. Another letdown. I get if you've got a disability or leg pain you have no choice, but it is just unsatisfying.) Got a GS-P a.k.a. the Club, in soft-top. No BBS/Brembo/Recaro package.
Now, this wasn't a proper "you're on your own for 24 hours or more" kind of test to really get the full ownership experience, but at least the salesperson-prescribed route had some twisties/hills/sweepers to kinda-sorta throw the Miata into.
Just wheeling it around the parking lot the steering felt better. I can't properly judge how well the "reduced friction" Dave Coleman talked about really came through but yeah. Felt better weighting up in corners and making small off-center corrections as well. The ND1's was so light and numb, I accidentally banged my arms together just turning it out of the lot the first time. It was shocking. The only thing that was weird was that 3-4 times, when tracking mostly straight, the wheel would shimmy weirdly and I wasn't really sure it properly translated the texture of the road, or if I hit something that actually warranted that kind of steering feedback. It made me question if the steering was trying to give me "fake feel". I'm no pro test/race car driver, that's just what I felt.
Obviously, I couldn't chuck it hard enough to test the diff changes, and auto ND3s I don't think get an LSD at all anyway. The suspension was still soft enough to make me feel something even far below the limit, which I guess is "useful" in its own way. My NA's got the Gen 1 Xida Club Sports on 700/400 springs and the Flyin' Miata sway bars, so the "fun roly-polyness" is long gone from mine.
Not really much to say about the infotainment screen other than the smaller bezels are nice, the rear-view camera doesn't even come close to filling the screen (only mildly infuriating), and I like how they pull album art for your music through Gracenote, since I am a luddite who still downloads all his music, and sometimes I can't effort to tag a proper album art to each and every track, leaving either nothing at all or a crappy "bootleg compilation" picture. That was already a feature since the ND1, of course.
Bonus: at another car meet about a month ago, one of my acquaintances got a used "OG" (F87, non-Competition, non-CS) M2. Immediately I remembered the internet chatter about the driver's seat being crooked from the steering wheel so I asked him if I could sit in it. I could tell in 2 seconds it was off. Immediately I wanted to jump back into my Miata to cleanse my brain. It was that disconcerting.
