2024.06.09 17:24 laichi06 I passed UPLB and PUP, which is a better option?

Pls help me! I am incoming freshie and idk what to choose. Actually, my dream program is dentistry sa olfu pero parang ekis na dahil sa financial status. I passed UPCAT and PUPCET. Sa uplb bs nutrition napasahan ko and ang con lang is malayo kasi I am from caloocan. Sa pup naman mamimili pa lang ako kung saan program ako mapupunta upon enrollment, ang con ko naman is sabi nila hindi raw maayos facilities.
Pls help me to choose po between them.
•UPLB (BSND)
Pros: - kilalang school, dream school ko naman - maganda magturo - free tuition
Cons: - malayo so magdo-dorm, slightly hirap me mag-isa pero kung no choice is ayun ipupush naman (not sure pa kasi na makakapasa ako sa dost scholarship e) - nakaka-culture shock daw - high expectations

2024.06.09 17:14 Boss_Prgrm Modded world dowload to impress children

Hello guys,
I get it, the title sounds strange. This week my boss has organized a "bring your children to work" day and knowing that they play a little bit of Minecraft and I used to play a lot of modded minecraft (Technic Pack, Modded skyblock, ....), he wants me to show them what actually is possible to do with it, I was telling him about nuclear reactors, using pipes to create a chest system, energy production, I remember also that it was possible to program a computer in some mod.
Do any of you maybe know where I can download a map (even old minecraft version) that has got some pretty impressive stuff? Maybe some specific youtuber that after a series have put the map up for download.
Thank you!
P.S.: Sorry, tried to post this on ModdedMinecraft but I need 20 karma :/

2024.06.09 17:08 meanwolfpolis How do you look for a job in NLP nowadays?

I know it sounds like a stupid question, but since the field changes at such a fast pace it feels like the jobs available are changing super fast, as well.
I am technically a computational linguist with some programming experience (not great, but I'm working on it), but job ads for this role have completely disappeared - or I hope they have simply changed name) On LinkedIn I see only ads for ML engineers, data scientists, NLP developers that require very advanced programming and ML skills. Anything related to dataset creation and maintenance, data contribution are freelancing options that don't pay much (I'm based in Europe). Is there anything in the middle?
I have definitely more experience on the linguistic side of NLP but I know that in order to survive in the field I need to start leaning more on the technical side. I know that many managers nowadays seem to think that LLMs and AI work by magic and can do everything by themselves, but fine-tuning is still very necessary and someone must be doing it.
I guess what I'm asking is - what job titles should I look for? Is LinkedIn enough or are there any other platforms that I should be aware of (of course I'm looking up NLP companies and keeping an eye on their job ads)? Are you all advanced NLP developers and ML engineers here or is there someone like me? :)

2024.06.09 17:06 InTheMemeStream Anybody here a Scott’s Bass Lessons “SBL” member?

I’m starting to take bass more seriously and lately I have been picking it up more than my guitar. I really enjoy the instrument and have a lot of fun with it, I’d like to find a structured course to help me develop my skills, something that can take me from newb, to proficient in an easy to comprehend, structured, and enjoyable way.
I’ve been watching Scott’s Bass Lessons channel on YouTube for a while, I generally like his videos and find them helpful. I decided to try out the free trial, and signed up and am going through the introduction and orientation.
I wanted to see if anyone here are members, and if so, how they like the program, and if they really feel it has helped them progress, and indeed if they found the cost was/is worth it?
I’m ready to put my head down and get serious about actually learning to play music, and truly become proficient at an instrument instead of just diddling around. The wife just got me an American Pro P Bass, and Katana Bass 210 for my birthday, so I gotta be serious about learning and having fun or she’ll tan my hide. Lol
Thanks All!

The laws around IPTV are getting stricter. The UK's Digital Economy Act of 2017 means up to 10 years in jail for illegal IPTV. In the US, the Protecting Lawful Streaming Act makes streaming felonious. Operators of these services could face up to 10 years behind bars.
When choosing an IPTV service, look at the subscription cost and payment method. Check the content and streaming quality. Also, see if they have ads, good customer support, and official apps. This is key to knowing if the service is legal and trustworthy. Go for services you can find in official app stores to stay safe and legal.

Setting Up Your IPTV Service

Getting ready to explore IPTV needs some steps for a smooth experience. We'll talk about what's important when starting your IPTV journey.

Internet Speed Requirements

For IPTV to work well, you must have a fast internet connection. You need about 25Mbps for watching live channels in full-HD without interruptions. If you want to watch in 4K or need SD quality, you'll need more speed. Over 75Mbps might be needed for excellent 4K quality.

Compatible Devices

Using a device that can handle IPTV well is key. Android systems or Amazon Fire Stick are great options. They make it easy and convenient to watch various IPTV apps and services.

Installing the IPTV App

Getting your IPTV set up means picking a provider, getting their plan, and putting the app on your device. After logging in, you can start watching live channels and on-demand shows. It's usually simple, with instructions from your provider to help.

Enhancing Your IPTV Experience

Getting more from your IPTV means personalizing it to your liking. You can do this by using a VPN for extra security or by picking only the channels you enjoy. Accessing parental controls is another useful way to customize your experience. We'll look into each of these ideas.

Using a VPN for IPTV

A VPN, though not always a must, adds a layer of protection. It encrypts your internet use and protects your privacy. It can also let you watch shows from other countries by bypassing their viewing restrictions.

Customizing Channel Lists

Customizing your channel list can turn your IPTV experience into just what you want. You get to pick the channels you love. This is especially handy with a lot of channels. Some services even offer guides to help you find what you're looking for easily.

Parental Controls and Restrictions

IPTV services make it easy to keep your kids away from shows they shouldn't watch. You can set controls to block certain content and manage when they watch. This keeps the whole family's viewing safe and enjoyable.

IPTV vs. Traditional Cable TV: The Future of Television

Many have turned to IPTV and satellite bundles for their TV needs. IPTV provides Live, Time-Shifted, and Video on Demand services. It tends to be cheaper than cable or satellite TV. This is because IPTV services offer various affordable plans.
IPTV lets you do more than watch TV. You can pause, rewind, and fast-forward live shows. There's on-demand content and shows picked just for you. The future for IPTV looks bright. More and more people will switch to it from traditional TV. This is because it's flexible, offers lots of shows, and saves money. Technology will make IPTV even better. We'll get smoother streaming, quicker starts, and more cool features. Plus, we'll have more shows to pick from, including ones from around the world and special ones just for you.
For years, cable and satellite TV have been the main way we watch TV. But now, IPTV is making a mark. It's a cheaper and more adjustable option. IPTV is known for clear, reliable shows with less waiting and in high definition. Over-the-Top (OTT) services let you watch on different gadgets and save money. IPTV even has cool features like DVR, pausing live shows, and guides. OTT is great for its unique, top-notch shows.
The TV world is changing fast. Soon, IPTV and OTT will blend in with smart homes. It will be easy to pick what to watch with your voice. Also, things like 5G and better internet will make TV even more amazing.

2024.06.09 16:59 Cloud7889 [D] Which companies have research positions in OR (Europe)?

I am doing a PhD in applied math, mostly in graph theoretical algorithms, linear programming, game theory,... so Operations Research stuff. I would prefer an industrial research position after my PhD, as those tend to have larger impact and pay better .Which big companies have Research Scientist positions (where you actually do research and can publish and attend conferences) in this field? I know of many research teams at FAANG, but they mostly seem just doing AI stuff. I prefer OR, as I like mathematically more precise algorithms with exact provable guarantees, and graphs in general. I image there should be OR teams too, as the whole point of this branch of math is to solve questions related to industrial applications. Also feel free to redirect me to other reddit sub.

2024.06.09 16:59 PLUFFY3 laptop recommendation

Hello: have negative braincells when its comes to computers and specs etc. I need help with some laptop recommendations for a personal laptop that I intend to keep at work.
EDIT: Looking for something that actually runs lol. We have a spare laptop and a chrome book at my FT that I have been using but its soooooo slow and laggy. I def want to stay away from any chromebook
EDIT 2: I found this Dell which i think fits everything Im looking for however its a bit heavy. I work another job on the weekends a couple blocks away from my FT, so my plan is to pick it up and drop it off before and after every weekend. If there is a smallelighter one in this price range that would be fantastic.

2024.06.09 16:58 SocketAtUFIFWorkshop Help getting it to work.

I is new here and am looking for help with my full upgrade on my Creality CR-10 v3. Before we get to far ahead, I am Mechanically and Electricitly (Intermediate) trained by Trade (15+ years) and currently studying Engineering, but lack knowledge in Computing and Programming. Ok, onto the show. I have recently received all the components that I wish to use for my upgrade from BTT, these are them: -BTT SKR MINI E3 V3.0, Control Board -BTT TFT35-E3 V3.0.1, Touch Screen -BIQU H2 V2S, Extruder -BIQU MicroProbe V2.0, Touch Probe -BTT SFS V2.0, Smart Filament Sensor Ie, All the Stepper Motors are still the OG but will be upgraded at a later date. I have ripped out all the old parts and have mocked up and connected everything on my work bench (ie, my work bench is insulated and staticly earthed). I can power everything on but unable to get anything to move or respond. I've tried going through all the BTT/BIQU manuals, guides, and also have look on their gitHub page (which got me talking like the Mad Hatter) for what to do with Troubleshooting and Firmware. So the main thing is that I can't get anything to run or respond and need help with troubleshooting and firmware configuration. Once I have got everything to work I will be making a custom enclosed, hosing wire looms and mounts for all the new components. So just need help getting to that point. Cheers in advance to anyone that can, you will he in my heart forever.

2024.06.09 16:51 goblininyourattic Clocks set early at work, is there a secret to this?

I work for a private, upscale decor store that is owned by a wealthier family. I love working there but one thing I've noticed is that our computers and system run about 4-5 minutes early compared to my phone and everyone else's. The technology is kind of antiquated and the programs we use are super old, but they haven't been updated because the owners, I assume, don't want to learn something new. That being said, it's the time on the actual COMPUTERS that is early, as well as the programs.
I'm curious if anyone has an idea why an employer would do this? It's fine for me because I am always early to work and then usually stay until 5:00 hits on my phone, so I get a little extra time. Is this a trick some companies use, or does it benefit them in some way?
Edited to say I live in the southwest in the US.

2024.06.09 16:49 Armadejed Researchers in Psychology, can you tell us more about your daily activities ?

Hi all,
I'm currently exploring some new career paths, and I was wondering if researchers or people who majored in psychology could describe their daily job a bit more in details to help me understand it.
I prepared a few questions to structure the process a bit (it'd help me even if you only answer to some of them) :
What are the main types of problems you solve in your job?
What tasks do you perform on a daily basis, and in what proportions?
How did you get into your current profession?
In your opinion, what is the best training - or experience - to prepare you for this job?
Are there specific abilities, skills or aptitudes specific to the job ?
Is there any possible application of a computer science degree in research in Anthropology ? Is so, what kind of programmers are usually seeked in (web devs, ML engineers, another speciality) ?
Do you enjoy your job?
What do you like best about your job?
What do you like least ?
How much free time do you have for your personal life or to perform extra professional activities ?
What about remuneration?
Do you think you'll be able to transfer to other functions?
Apart from the need for motivation, what advice would you give to someone wanting to enter this profession?
On the other hand, could you name one professional error that most shocks you in this line of work?
Thank you so much for your time !
