In any case, let's get to the tier list for the banner. Each tier will have a list of characters with a little explanation of why they were placed there. As always with tier lists, it's a subjective list, but I tried to accumulate all the possible info I had to assemble it so it shouldn't be off... I think? :D Hopefully it will be at least a bit helpful in deciding.
SSS (Super Special Smexy) tier Breaker Raiza and Lydie. This tier is self-explaining, if you miss one, your first selection is given. If you miss both, you have the selector banner sorted out. They are levels above all other available characters because of their utility and their longevity.
S (Spark-worth) tier * Sophie - She is another definite pick due to being the best debuffing tank, but not on the level of the two mentioned above. In any case, if you miss her and have the two, she's another must-have and your tank for most of the parties will be sorted out. * Izana-chan - Super cute and strong neko, what more could you even want? On a more serious note, still one of the strongest ST magic characters, she's literally the 4th pick if we go in order after the big 3. If you miss her, adopt her, she will return the love. * Lila - First I was thinking about putting her on the A-rank like Lily, but Lila has one big advantage. Devs hate the non-attacker ice characters. Until this day in JP we still not only do not have another ice breaker, but we also still do not have an ice defender! For this reason, Lila gets a push to the S-rank because she won't leave the ice teams and her resistance lowering before S2 is also a big plus. * Xmas Resna - Do you have all your team slots ready and do not feel the need for speed attack? It's Xmas Resna's turn because of her brilliant Purple/Red Skill Up synthesis gift. If you combine her with Valentine Totori, you have the best combination for the future equips, because the ultimate crafting item (with skill up and critical dmg up) is purple. With just these two characters you can easily craft the best equips possible.
A (Average) tier * Lily - I was thinking of putting her in AB tier because she's not needed if you got breaker Logy but if you don't, she's a good pick because we don't have any other lightning breakers. * Meruru - Depending on your ice team options, probably won't see much use in battle, but her synthesis skill makes her a good contender for the A-tier. * Xmas Patty - Excellent slash defender, but just a defender, hence, A-tier.
-AB tier- This is a special tier for Klaudia and Will. They are both very good in their specific element teams and if you have the teams for them ready, they are an A-tier, otherwise, B-tier.
B (Boo) tier * Plachta - AOE breaker which is always good but suffers from early release syndrome, with Heidi coming, won't be used often. * Valeria - Strong and quick character, but overshadowed in her role by Logy who is unlimited. * Ellie - wuuut? What is the non-unit doing outside of C-tier you ask? Yes, good question indeed and it's actually more of a future tip for the whales. Her leader skill actually makes her very viable for the wind tower and overall in the wind teams. * Empel - Yet another victim of the Rose series. He used to be the phys buffer to go but with Flocke-tan, there's no use for him anymore. Won't fall into C-tier because of the multiple buffing possibility but also won't get him a higher tier either.
C (Collection purpose) tier * All currently unlimited characters. - Yes, even OG Raiza, don't even think of exchanging currently unlimited characters, you will definitely get them from the FES tickets which will still be given out and their lineup does not change. * Nio - Yes, sorry, Nio-chan, you are cute and Ayesha's imouto, but as a unit, you are severely lacking. It's not even the skills, but the lack of the main aspect that makes a tank a tank, the taunt. Without that, she's unfortunately not usable. And not even her synthesis gift saves her. With Rose Lydie coming, she won't find use in the majority of the content. * Sue - Another victim of the Rose series. With Valeria coming, she won't see a use. She has an interesting full HP buff gimmick but with the amount of AOE attacks, she won't get to use it often.
??? tier HW Plachta. An enigma. Nobody knows if she is a part of this banner or not. Due to missing her original event + banner, it's very hard to predict if she will appear here or not. If she does, take her as a collection piece if you don't choose anyone else.

Hey everyone, just a quick preface that I've been raised Catholic my entire life (22M) but I have a question regarding our view of the age of the Earth (and in turn the concept of Biblical absolute truth).
My roommate is Lutheran and an adamant believer of YEC and the Bible being the final and absolute truth, with nothing in it being incorrect and all being a direct account from God. With the Bible holding no falacies, according to them, the 7 days of Genesis are a literal 7 days and the bloodlines and ancestral accounts found within the other books are all accurate with nothing having been missed, skipped, and with very slight wiggle room for a few additional years here and there.
Because of all this, they believe the Earth is around 10,000 years old as can be traced back in the Bible. Which in turn was written through the influence of the Holy Spirit making it the true and exact word of God. I most certainly do not deny the influence of the HS on those who wrote the Bible, but I'm struggling with seeing the rest of it.
We have science, carbon dating that has been tested to tell the age of things, etc etc. My roommate's argument to this is that science and mathematics are all theoretical, being constructs of humanity to try and explain things. While there is some logical and absolute truth within these concepts, they are still just constructs. Since we can not repeate the creation of the Earth, we can not say that we are 100% accurate that it was formed over the course of years and everything was just "there" through the grace and creation of God with the appearance of having been there longer.
I'm a firm believer in OEC, and I do not plan on changing that. I believe that the Bible was written through the influence of the HS but that it contains a lot of things that are up to interpretation rather than to be taken word for word. Meanings can be lost in translation, some practices referenced were for the specific time period and cultures and are not meant to be applied to today's society, and so on.
Basically I'm wondering if my beliefs fall in line with the true teaching of the Church or if I'm just way off the mark. And what else I should know on these topics. Thanks everyone.

So I’m a 16-year-old male in my sophomore year and my friend (who we will call LF and has a brother) is 15 and in his freshman year and is accusing me of being a pedophile and let me tell you how it happened. LF introduced me to his cousin on VR months ago on a Sunday and we played Dragon Fist, VR chat, and rec room. We played VR as a trio for weeks until the next day at school after a Sunday. I sat at my desk, which was next to his, and LF asked me if I had a crush on his cousin (who is 11 and we will call FF). I said no, then he asked me again and again on what I thought about her. I said that she was adorable. Let me just say that I thought her hyper energy was adorable because she was hyper during our game sessions and would get really into the game, which was Dragon Fist. LF’s cousin was the one who wanted to know because she thought I did, and he FaceTimed me and her while we were both home, and they talked to me about liking FF (which I didn’t). FF agreed to be my girlfriend (which I thought was a joke and didn’t take seriously). Then months went by and I just stopped talking to them for 1 week because I had a lot going on my mind. Then LF messaged me a long paragraph on how I should “stop being in my feelings,” but me not talking to them was NOT related to them at all, and I had to write an apology message for something I didn’t say. I gave them 2 fruit snacks each as an apology gift, but FF didn’t go to our school (Of Course), so LF had to take all 4 of them home with him so he could give it to FF. Then 2 or 3 hours later after I got home, LF messaged me asking if I put something in the fruit snack. I was asleep at the time, but when I woke up, he called me and asked me the same question, and I said no. Then I asked who accused me of that, and he didn’t wanna say who. I’m guessing LF tried to give it to FF, but one of FF’s parents probably got suspicious, and I can’t blame them since they never met me, and it would be weird to have someone randomly give your child candy unless they are “FRIENDS.” So, I let LF’s twin brother have the fruit snacks instead. And let me tell you guys something that I like about LF’s brother, he’s one of those nice popular kids who is chill, and I would hate to be on his bad side because of how chill he is.
Then me and LF would be on talking terms again after I felt better about life. Then Monday came, we sat next to each other in 1st period, and he invited me to his house on Friday. But then he thinks that it's a bad idea because of FF’s mom who heard about me “dating” FF, so now LF’s aunt hates me, which was okay because I was never planning on going to the barbecue anyway. He said that FF mom would kill me, and I said that I would defend myself if she tried to. Then he tried to scare me by pretending to send a message to FF that said “[My Name] said that he’ll beat up your mom”, which didn’t work at first, but he FF actually sent the message on purpose, he tried to make it seem like a accident but I saw him trying to pretend to scroll up in order to pretend that he pressed the send button on accident. Once I got home, LF called me and told me that his family told him to make an excuse on why I couldn't go there, which I was okay with not going since I have social anxiety and I would only go to places with family. He then said that I was really calm about the situation of his family hating me, which is easy if you don’t personally know the people and if you’ve gotten harassed before. Then we did a back and forth argument about me “liking” his cousin. I thought he was messing with me about dating FF, but he was serious and actually believed I liked her (which I didn’t and I thought the whole thing was a joke), and he was mad about me saying that I said I would beat up his aunt, which is total bull crap because I said that I would just defend myself if she tried to hurt me. Then he said that I should just stop “lying” because that’ll make things worse, so I “told the truth” (which is obviously false) and said that I did say I was going to beat up his aunt (Even though he threatened me with her), then he went to his other cousin’s house after hanging up.
Then 24 minutes later he messaged me saying, "[My Name] u gotta stop lying and talkin bout fightin my auntie or ima have to stop talkin to u permanently." And I’m already annoyed that he thought I was actually being serious about dating his fking 11-year-old cousin, now he's saying I would hurt someone for no reason.
2 things I need to mention before finishing, one of them is that I’m of average height with wrestling and boxing experience and I’m not calling myself a master at both but I’m pretty good at them and I’m willing to defend myself if someone threatens me with murder or violence, the next thing I wanted to tell you guys is that my friend who I talk to a lot had set me up with a girl on Instagram and I took the opportunity since I know I wasn’t really dating FF and it was probably a joke they made to mess with me about being single at the time before meeting the girl my friend put me on with, but they thought I was serious about the whole thing and LF won’t accept that they just did the whole dating thing to mess with me and to call me a pedo even though it was his idea and I never actually wanted to date his cousin and this whole thing started with me calling his cousin adorable.
Sorry for the yap session, I just needed to make sure that I got every single detail but if something doesn’t add up, then I’ll come back to fix it since I was pretty mad and annoyed while writing this because I had to remember every single detail that happen and it annoys me just thinking about it.
Update:I still talk to LF and randomly during FaceTime he just says to stop lying because I so called “lied.” a lot, I have nothing to gain from lying so why would I lie? and then he said “I’ma be honest with you, FF does not like you, she hates you.” and I’ll be honest, I said that I don’t give a shit if she hates me, its not like I’m ever going to talk to her face to face, in fact I don’t give a shit what anyone thinks of me because I’m still living and that’s the only thing that matters to me, and I said that during the face time and then I just let him win the argument just to make him quiet, then he said that he has to do something and hung up the FaceTime.
Moral of the story, only compliment people who won’t take shit the wrong way.

Hello! I thought I'd leave a little rant that may give insight to you guys looking to go on the show what the casting process in the new era looks like. From what I understand the process is different for everyone, but this is what I experienced over a year ago...
I'm posting this because 1. I'm anonymous so why not lol, 2. I've been getting a lot of memories on my phone from my time during casting and got annoyed all over again about my experience, so ranting a bit should help.
So firstly, I've been applying to be on the show since I was 18. At first I worked with one of the ex-casting producers who was fired once Jesse took over. This was during 37/38's cycle. I was definitely not ready to be on the show and she told me I'd never get cast. I'd try going through her for 39 as well only to be told not to bother applying... which was extremely disheartening. I'm so glad she was fired and now is stuck making 'casting advice' tapes for money lol.
Through the pandemic and early post pandemic I kept getting advice from people who'd give me an in with casting associates on social media. However none of these ever amounted to anything and I recommend everyone to NOT use social media to reach out to these casting associates. They're only on the casting team to recruit and give people to the casting producers to pitch. Having a casting producer themself fighting for you is much better and that's only going to happen if you apply through the website.
I applied in September, was contacted the next day via email and had to fill out a packet. This packet is a duplicate of one I had filled out when I was 18, it just asks for things about you: work, life, opinions, outdoorsy experience. I also had to send pictures (which they use to pitch you). They also gave a list of links to past players audition tapes (most of which are unlisted and not available to the public, we got almost everyone from 41 & 42). This is because 9/10 times you have to make a 2nd tape. For me, I didn't have to do that.
I then heard nothing... for months. Around December I reached out to check in and my producer ended up pitching me. If you make it to the email stage, you need to give a good enough video/packet to be worth a pitch to the entire team and jeff. That's where they all watch your video and either thumbs up or nix you. I passed. Because the pitching round I was put in was the last one before the holidays, my entire process was super sped up. The next day I was on the phone w/ my producer and scheduled 2 meetings: 1 with Jeff on facetime and 1 with Jesse and the 2 executive producers of the show (matt and i forgot the other guys name lol). They both were only 10 minutes long. It was wild... thankfully I was not working a full-time job at this time so I was able to prepare.
The call with Jeff was... interesting. I'd heard he was the one who was unsure about me. I think because my video was so off the wall that I might've not seemed like a real person. However, during our call he was EXTREMELY deep. I was kinda shocked at how good he was at digging deeper into answers. Things I hadn't even thought about with my career choices and my behaviors. My call with the other producers was totally different. I felt like I was on a zoom call with a bunch of bar regulars as they asked me about the shit in my room. It was clear one call was to test my emotional depth and the other was to test how I interact with others.
I passed them both! I then had to take a longgggggggg personality test. Like over 500 questions long. This test (along with an IQ test) was monitored by some woman on facetime. Multiple of us were on at the same time, so when people would stop to answer questions, you could hear their voices but not see their face. These tests give insight on your morals and how smart you are. Some of the questions were wild... like "do you hear voices in your head?" LOL.
I passed that stage and had to wait until after the holidays for medical. Over the break I filled out this LONG sheet about my medical history as well as my familial history. As well as the background check form. After the holidays I had 3 meetings with 3 different therapists. 2 1on1s and 1 2on1. They use the tests and information you give to check that you're ready for what the show brings as well as get a deeper dive into your life story.
I passed this stage and moved onto what was described as the 'all or nothing stage'. Mind you: all of these stages were virtual, but I've heard pre-pandemic they were in person. The final stage was 2 final zoom calls. Now these calls were both recorded. 1 was with the casting team, the other was with everybody.. and I mean EVERYBODY. Jeff, casting and CBS. Both of these meetings lasted around half an hour and were edited down into a video and shown to the network. If all went well, me and the other chosen players would be flown to LA to meet in person, take some physical tests, then we'd return 2 months later to fly to Fiji. By this point, most of the cast had been selected, as I was in the final round.
Unfortunately, this is where I was cut, as I got into the process wayyyy too late. However, I was encouraged to try again an skip most of the process I've already down. However, that offer has yet to happen lol.
Overall I'd say this: Most of y'all on here know fuck all about the casting process lol. I feel like some of you come on here to lie and troll hopefuls. For the people who wanna get on: It is LENGTHY. and this wasn't even everything. So much goes into these zoom calls besides just answering questions. Costuming, your background, photos, paper work, etc. Apparently, a lot of people don't make it through because they give up on all the work. If you can't even fill out an application and make a video you have NO SHOT of making it through the casting process.
It's a lot of waiting and hoping, you're always running on their time. So please: be patient. Also, just be yourself! I finally got attention from them when I stopped giving what I 'thought' they wanted and gave what I AM. You dont need a sob story, my sob story was never even pitched to them or talked about during interviews. There's absolutely no shortcuts, shittt even when you do get close there's still no guarantee. I never realized truly how hard it is to get on the show until I almost did.
But most importantly: the producers LOVE this show! Shittt during one of my interviews we shat on 43. They love talking game and really wanna make the best show possible. So cut them some slack. It made me really happy to see that they really do love the show and wanna put the best people on.
If I ever do get on, maybe I can talk about everything, but for now I'd rather just talk about the process itself and not the details as to not give away my identity. (these mfs LURK all over here!)

I figure I should ask this question in a place where there are others going through something similar. For at least a year, I've been drinking every night and usually getting wasted. I don't get shit faced stupid drunk though and I don't do anything stupid, I just hide in my room and drink until I feel sick. Lately, I have been buying 12 packs every night after work and going through them in the same night. It used to take me a few days to get through a 12 pack. I'm a small person, but I'm able to drink way more liquor than I used to be without getting fucked up and it kind of shocks people. One night, I had 5 Mike's, 2 AMFs, then a few more Mike's after I got home and my friends were sure I was going to be completely fucked up drunk from it, but I wasn't. My friends that don't drink as much and are much bigger than me would get way more fucked up off of just one AMF, but I don't anymore.
I decided that it was getting to be too much and I stopped drinking yesterday. I found myself to be extremely bored, couldn't stop moving around to stimulate myself, had bad cravings to drink so I kept eating sweet things and drinking Gatorades to help try to curb it (I used to drink Mike's all of the time, so I have sweet cravings without it now because that shit is so sugary). I don't know how I did it, but I slept for like 14 hours last night. That's definitely not normal for me. Am I going through withdrawals? Is this a sign that I'm probably an alcoholic but don't want to admit it to myself?
I always thought that being an alcoholic was just a little more intense than what I'm going through. I knew alcoholics that were hooked on hard liquor and they would do stupid shit and fuck their own lives and relationships up when they were wasted. Me? I just drink when I get home instead of doing anything productive. Sometimes, I would get drunk while doing my house chores, so I felt like I wasn't destroying my life or wasting any time because I was staying busy. On the weekends, I'd wake up and immediately start drinking. If I was going to socialize outside of work hours, I would NEED to be buzzing already to feel comfortable at all. Social anxiety is a big reason why I started drinking, but I wouldn't stop drinking even when I wasn't in social situations anymore. It became an every day goal to go home and get wasted after I was done with everything. I realized that I gave up on a lot of hobbies and activities that I would do in my spare time because I replaced it all with drinking.
So I'm asking you guys because y'all have experience about this sort of thing. My brother is adamant that I'm an alcoholic and going through withdrawals, but my best friend doesn't think that I'm an alcoholic. But then again, my best friend doesn't see how much I drink like my brother does since we live together. Do y'all think I'm an alcoholic? Does it even matter? Is it even important for me to accept it, if I am one?

Truthfully, I'm still really skeptical about spellwork and whether or not I believe it works. Can anyone tell me how candle magick has worked for them? I'm attracted to the idea of it but I'd like to hear from more experienced practitioners

“Oh. Well I just found something interesting. Follow me. I need to see this for myself and you will want to as well.”
“Oh good, is the rumoured armoured division still supplied?”
“It looks to be that way. We might have more firepower than I thought.”
“Very good.” He says standing up and sliding over the desk to follow her out. “I had actually thought that heavier things like the armour would have been taken and at least repurposed.”
“They’re in The Gavali Empire colours... could it be something that petty?” She asks herself in awe.
“Really? I would expect people of their character to at least find some joy in having them repainted rather than simply abandoned. It’s an enormous waste.” Sir Philip chides before pausing and chuckling. “Of course... The Stations. That’s where their pride is. Well, bully for them, my plan is going to work even better now.”
“Oh really?”
“Think about it, if that readout was accurate there are two squads worth of mobile armour in here. That’s the kind of hardware that is never abandoned without good reason. But if that reason is severe pride in another piece of equipment, then it...”
“Will get all the attention.” Shelly says following his train of logic. “Wait, how do you know there are two squads worth on the registry I checked.”
“I’m learning your language, not totally ignorant. I can read it just fine, I just need some more time than I’d like.” He remarks as they head down and he swipes a keycard into lock of the door. Shelly turns on the lights and both of them pause.
“Magnificent.” Philip says with a smirk.
“Wonderful, absolutely wonderful.” Shelly says in awe as she beholds the rows upon rows of towering Battle Walkers. Far more than any five squadrons would use. “There was a rumour about one of the bases being used as storage, but that it was this one is just good luck.”
“Bad luck as well, there’s barely any room in this hanger. To say nothing of how much is needed for these beasts to manner, it’s why I prefer a Tank myself, but a heavily armed combat walker with the ability to entrench itself to become artillery is an acceptable second place.” Philip says as he walks up to the nearest massive weapon’s platform. It’s easily a hundred tons in weight and while it has several cannons pointed forward, the real prize is on the back.
“This is old school firepower. The Empire has moved away from this kind of combat doctrine and the Vatras have followed. These things are old, but they’ll still hit like a meteor.” Shelly says as she remembers the fast things running around in all sorts of configurations as a massive contest was held for which one would be the main combat walker of The Empire. In the end they had settled on flight capable bipedal platform. Very light compared to these stompers, but comparably fragile.
“Yes, they’re not very fast, but they’re mobile, all terrain artillery units. If we can get our hands on something more modern from the Vatras to support and screen these beasts we might be able to take a station down. Especially if it’s been damaged to begin with.”
“Maybe one, if there are two left then the second will be able to shoot us into a crater before our shots can reach it. As powerful as these weapons are we need the element of surprise for them to work.” She says going over the hunched over posture of the massive battlemech. “And more modern armour will dance circles around these girls and reduce them to slag before they can get a shot off. These beasts are slow and mean, but slow gets you shot down.”
“Which means we need to think of them more like semi-mobile emplacements.” Philip remarks as he climbs up the ladder to the entry port in the side and pops it open. “My word... it has the new car smell.”
“The new car smell?”
“The smell of chemicals and such used in manufacture. This particular piece of equipment was never even used before being placed here in storage. Wicked waste.” He says derisively before closing the door. “So, what do you think of our odds now?”
“Getting better. But I’ll need to do some digging. I was in charge of ground forces, not armoured. I’ll need to see if any of my old friends in command are still around to find someone that can lead a force like this.”
“Good lass.” Philip says as he hops down and lands with barely a bend to his knees. “We have a hundred and twenty of these walkers. Which considering the yield of their artillery lasers they just barely equal the output of a single station.”
“Wouldn’t they go over... no wait, each individual beam would be distorted at least somewhat and the single large one from the station would have less interference. So it would come to roughly the same amount, just a little bit of power one way or the other...” She mutters as she does the math. “Still, we have the equivalent of a station on the ground. That’s... big. Really big.”
“It is, and it’s something to keep very close to the chest. If any of the Vatras realize there’s a direct, pound per pound, threat to their power they can and will do something about it. Stealth is wealth in this scenario and we need to be wealthy indeed to pull this off.”
“You just quoted something.” She remarks and he smirks.
“Yes, I spent some time undercover as a burgler and petty thief. The things you learn in criminal circles my dear, why, it’d make your hair go white!” He says and she considers, thinks and then comes to a realization.
“So how much of your thieving skills have you used here today?”
“In this building? Precious few. In actually casing the area I got the keycards and authentication from? Quite a few. Proper criminality needs both patience and audacity at the appropriate times.” Philip says as he glances down the way. “There seems to be some modifications near the back. Those are likely the Battle Walkers that I assumed would be here.”
“So you were expecting some.”
“I was expecting at worst some mouldering parts and tools left over from Valiance and Determine Squadrons.” He admits. “At best I was hoping for the entire squadron’s walkers. Maintaining all these Battle Walkers is going to be an enormous issue.”
“Can’t win but for winning?”
“Almost.” He admits. “Hmm... There are so many opportunities that are opening up.”
“Opportunities for whom?”
“For you and yours. While each one of these behemoths might need a hundred siblings to match a station. Those stations are designed to leave wounds on worlds. These armours will work as defensive emplacements that can get up and walk away. A station they’ll struggle with one to one, but they can and likely will leave gruesome holes in capital ships.” Philip says.
“So you don’t intend these to be brought out until AFTER you do your insane stunt and steal a station?” She asks.
“That’s correct.” Philip notes as he leads her through the rows upon rows of Combat Walkers and inspects them all in a quick scan to see if any of them jump out at him. He pauses at seeming random and runs his finger over one of the legs and finding the paint cracking off and peeling. “Hmm... must have been produced while the Vatras were taking the planet. Not enough time to get a second coat of paint.”
“How did you see that?” She asks him.
“Because I was looking for it.” He replies.
“You were looking for brittle and cracking paint?”
“I was looking for defects. We’ll get a trusted engineer in here to give everything a look over. For all we know each of these walkers are just waiting to fall apart and a proper push from the side will cause it to crumble.” Philip says and Shelly gathers some Axiom and shoulder checks the nearest Walker. It sways ever so slightly. “You can fight a Battle Walker?”
“They’re powerful, but they have weaknesses. Especially when they’re powered down.” She answers and he smiles.
“Excellent. Now then, shall we see what kind of modifications Valiance and Determine made to their walkers?” He asks as he leads her further back and Sally sighs. “Oh dear...”
“... Yes...” Sally says as she beholds the decal on the side of a walker that just shows a Jorgua man made of muscles and holding a plasma cannon as the only thing keeping him decent. To her surprise Philip actually laughs at the sight of it before mimicking the pose of flexing all the muscles while having a firm and suggestive grip on the cannon.
“What do you think?” He asks and she shakes her head in amusement.
“I think you’re a little overdressed for it.” She chides him. “You don’t take offence?”
“My dear woman, I count on it.” He replies.
“Of course, if someone’s brain’s in their crotch then they’re not doing too well in a fight.”
“Exactly so.” Philip answers. “So... do you have enough to be ready?”
“I need to see one more place. The most important place in any military base.”
“Ah yes, how could I possibly forget?” Philip asks.

“Hmm... of all the places to have most of the tools go missing I must admit I didn’t expect it from the kitchens.” Philip notes somewhat ruefully.
“People can explain having a spatula, frying pan or big serving spoon. Even butcher knives and the like. Not so much a massive Battle Walker.”
“Very true dear girl. Very true indeed.” He notes as he finds bare cupboards, empty shelves and nothing at all left in the kitchen, stasis storage or pantry. “Did they just walk out with everything that wasn’t bolted down?”
“No, the chairs in the mess hall are mostly here?” Shelly says turning the light on in the mess hall and chuckling at what she sees.
“Mostly?” Philip demands and then he pokes his head in and scans the room. “Unbelievable.”
“Looks like a quarter maybe?” She asks indicating the missing chairs.
“Roughly.” He replies. “This is going to be less complicated to replace than potentially missing Walkers, but still aggravating.”
“Good luck with that. I’ll get to talking to some friends of mine. If nothing else they’ll love the chance for a front row seat into whatever you’re about to do.”
“Ah... good.”
“How ARE you going to take control of a space station?”
“Manuel override during the viral attack. I’ll need to be in engineering to do it, and once we’re in the lake I can deal with the rest of the crew at my leisure as things will be cut off from the outside world as the chaos ensues.”
“And what about Protn based communications? No amount of interference can get around that.”
“Yes, that’s why I need to select my target and time carefully. Scouting is very important after all.” He says. “Protn can be scanned for and detected with ease. I hit those while my forces take the engine room and take us down.”
“And who are you getting?”
“That depends entirely on how easily swayed the engineering staff are. Several of the stations have some very likely prospects and I have the meeting with the first of them in...” He checks his watch. “Three hours.”
“... You’re already on it?!”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“It turns out that the crew you can’t parade around or can’t threaten you with violence tend to be underestimated by despots. It’s almost like those obsessed with power are unfamiliar with the extremely important details of things such as upkeep.”
“Really?”
“Well, that’s the obvious explanation. The more serious one is that people that grasp at power often over or under delegate. Those that over-delegate are often preening fools that are best ignored. Give them some cookies and shove them in a corner with a model and they’re out of your hair. Those that are obsessively in control and under-delegate simply stretch themselves too thin, tire themselves out and miss important details. From my understanding the Engineering staff of several stations are moderately paid, but routinely ignored and will take a pay cut if things go wrong. Even if it was the ignoring that caused the situation to begin with.”
“Right... okay. Holy goddess, even when thigns were working well there were weaknesses you could have danced through weren’t there?”
“No system is perfect. And the trick to infiltration is to find the weaknesses. Although the best advice is to generally go for being as low ranked as you can pretend to be in you’re infiltrating. That way less people will be concerned with who you are and why you’re there.”
“But then anyone can order you around.”
“And following those orders lets you get all over the place and a ready made scapegoat for all kinds of things. Every issue is an opportunity if you play it that way.”
“... Are you trying to make me into a spy?”
“Ah, pardon me. I’ve spent so long teaching the habit has stuck.”
“Teaching? Teaching who?”
“A pair of most adept students that I had the pleasure of seeing blossom into masters.”
“You really enjoy answering questions without answering them, don’t you?”
“Occupational hazard my dear, along with sudden mortality if I let myself slip.”

Idk how much of this will and won't be spoilers so I threw in the tag to be safe.
The "something" in question is the naming conventions in this DLC.
Seeing as how this DLC is based on the in-game show of the same name, it makes sense that these characters we know from the game aren't named. The Waitress being Rose, The Sheriff being Tim, The Sibling being Jesse, etc. Even the background characters have non-names like "lady with seven corgis" or "weird guy with a hat" (can't remember them exactly off the top of my head but it's something like that).
Except for in Time Breaker. You have the Shawn variant named "Branch" a couple times by The Agent (not-Jesse) and you hear Shawn refer to the Director as Sam once or twice audibly. But the biggest exception to this is, the one and only, Door.
He could have been The Mysterious Man, The Pursuer. He could have even been The Master of Many Worlds, as he is referred to a few times throughout. But instead, he is named.
I think this so freaking cool for a couple reasons.

1. It's confirmed in this DLC, in its own quirky way, that Hatch from Quantum Break is Door, which means he is 1:1. There is no other multiversal counterpart, so a character title is not required for him like with the other characters, whose roles could be filled with numerous other variants.
   
2. This decision makes it clear, to me at least, that while everyone else we meet in the DLC is a character, Door is Door. He is no actor, no pretender, no prop for the show. This makes him stand out and accentuates his already-looming presence over the whole RCU
   

Jesus Christ. I know this DLC may have felt short and disappointing for some and for those people, I'm sorry. But this DLC, for me, was equally parts exactly what I expected and mind blowing like I did not expect. In typical Remedy fasion, I left stun-locked on my couch pondering daily what was just fan fiction (Episode 1), what was an echo of another life (Episode 2), and what was a peak behind the curtain of the greater truth (Episode 3).

Hi, I’m helping my mom figure out the best way to install a cooling/heating/circulation system for her condo in Southern California. The condo has three stories, each about 500 square feet. The downstairs is pretty ok year round, but the top floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom that get really hot and stuffy on warm days.
She lives about a mile from the beach, so it’s cooler here than a lot of Los Angeles, but there is also a hill between her and the water and one side of the building faces west so it gets a lot of heat on summer afternoons. It’s also pretty humid, for California.
The HOA does allow her to install an AC/system, but obviously we want something quiet and unobtrusive.

Basement Garage, small bathroom, spare room Spare room has a ceiling fan, this floor is fine
First floor Living room, dining room, kitchen, 1/2 bath This floor gets great circulation because it’s bookended by a patio and a balcony, both with sliding glass doors, and the dining room has a ceiling fan. The sliding glass doors for the balcony face west, and have darkening/heat resistant drapes she uses in the sumer
Second floor: Two bedrooms, hallway, storage, jack-and-jill bathroom If this floor was an open layout, we wouldn’t need two air handlers, but the rooms are separated by the bathrom, some cabinets, and a hallyway, so I don’t think one would do it.
The question(s):
My thinking is that she should get a 12,000 BTU compressor (Is that the right word? The outside bit.) and two air handlers, one for each bedroom. That way each person can adjust their room accordingly. What do you kind experts think about this?
If that is correct, should I be looking for a multi-zone set up, a multi-split set up, or what—I guess sites just start gaming SEO and it is hard to tell what the terms mean. Is a split the same as an air handler?
Is it better to buy a compressor and two splits, all separately (but same manufacturer), or to buy a compressor that comes with a split, and then buy the second split a la carte? And is it better to buy the system and then just hire someone to install it, or have someone come and get the hardware and labor through them?
I want to pay someone fairly and get good work but also be as thrifty as possible. She had a flood during Covid when I was on the other side of the country and some unscrupulous contractors really screwed her over—I’ve spent the past couple years fixing peeling paint, holes in walls, redoing flooring, etc. So we are nervous! I’ve read that you can buy used equipment on Craig’s List, etc., and I am a die-hard repair-reuse-recycle type, but it does make me a little nervous to do that.

Hello fellow tutor aspirees, side hustlers, academic extraordinaires. I’m here to give you the scoop on the various tutoring platforms, how their services work, tutoring requirements, the types of students on each platform, and of course - how much you get paid for your time.
A little about me. I’ve tutored for a few months now on the following platforms: Varsity Tutors, Wyzant, and SuperProf. I’ve had a number of students on each platform, and it’s safe to say I’ve definitely realized the pros and cons of each one.
Wyzant
Money Info: You set your hourly rate. Wyzant takes 25% of it. If you set your rate to $20/hr you get paid $15/hr.
The Requirements: Each subject you tutor you have to take a 10–20 question multiple choice test on it. The test will be beginner to intermediate questions on the subject you’ve chosen. You only have one chance to pass the test.
The Pros:

• You set your own rate
• Tutors and students can freely schedule meetings on their own, rather than have someone assign you
• The user interface is better(mobile app, messaging system, teaching platform, etc)
• Students can largely vary(this can be a con too). You will get a wider range of students, who can be adults with various full time jobs.

The Cons:

• You are charged 25% of your hourly rate
• It’s very hard to get started as a new tutor. There are tons of tutors with a lot of reviews already.
• There are scammers(be cautious of people asking you to communicate off the platform)

Final Verdict
Wyzant is an easy to use platform that takes a while to build a student base. You’ll have to apply and reach out to students a lot at first before you start getting more consistent jobs. This can take a few months, so consider this before you start. The 25% fee is high, but certainly not unreasonable compared to other platforms.
Varsity Tutors
Money Info: Unless you’re tutoring GRE or LSATs, the flat rate is $15/hr, regardless of the subject. GRE and LSAT tutors make $28/hr. Varsity Tutors charges their students $50 - $75/hr.
Requirements: Most subjects do not require a test, however you do need to send in a video interview of yourself, mostly to confirm that you can speak eloquently.
The Pros:

• You are assigned students after declaring interest, so you can get started tutoring within a few days.
• Students are screened so you’ll mostly get students more prepared for lessons.

The Cons:

• A large amount of tutors will only make $15/hr, whereas they charge $50 - $75/hr per student. This can be a huge cut, and limit on pay, especially if you’re teaching harder subjects like programming, sciences, higher level math.
• The user interface is not as great. Basic functionality is there, but the overall platform is not aesthetic.
• You are legally not allowed to take students off the platform.

Final Verdict
Varsity Tutors definitely has the lowest pay amongst all the platforms. $15/hr to teach is what you can make at some retail jobs in the US. The platform can be better if you need to start making money immediately, or if you live in a country where the cost of living is lower. The amount you are paid is better for people who are teaching subjects that aren’t too difficult.
SuperProf
Money Info: You set your own rate, SuperProf takes 10%. The caveat, SuperProf charges students $39 a month to use the platform.
Pros:

• For tutors, SuperProf takes the least amount from your pay compared to other platforms.
• Students are generally more prepared because they are paying $39 a month to use the platform.
• The user interface is also pretty good.
• You can set your own cancellation policies

Cons:

• There are less students because of the monthly subscription fee.
• It’s very hard to get started as a new tutor. There are tons of tutors with a lot of reviews already.
• You have to teach your first two lessons free.

Final Verdict
SuperProf is very similar to Wyzant in that students and tutors can openly communicate and set up time with each other. The 10% fee is lower than the other platforms. But because it’s already hard to get started as a new tutor, and there are less students on the platform, it’s one of the harder platforms to build a student base.
Additional Notes
While all these platforms have their pros and cons. You can always consider tutoring independently. You do not need any licenses or business registration for tutoring in most places. Once you get a student base through Wyzant or SuperProf, you can take them off-platform and teach independently. The best part? You keep the money you work hard for.

Incoming student here in CC. I am getting pretty nervous about starting at Columbia. I;ve heard so many things about the over-competitiveness and how rigorous pre-med is, so I want to try to be as prepared as possible. For anyone who can answer my questions, I’d greatly appreciate anything at all that you could tell me. Thanks in advance!

1. I’m thinking of majoring in bio, neuroscience, or biochem. For pre-med, which is relatively easier than the other. I need a good gpa for med school.
2. Does CC offer online courses, aside from in-person ones? I know many colleges offer both.
3. How often do we need textbooks, or are they found online? And if not, can they be found in the library or we need to buy them from the bookstore?
4. How easy is getting research/shadowing opportunities? Is it all through cold emailing profs, or does Columbia have like a website with all the opportunities, or do students need to find their own opportunities? Are profs usually interested in taking students in? And do your recommend I get an opportunity as a freshman or too early?
5. What classes should I take first semester? Any examples of your schedule would be greatly appreciated! And as a pre-med, if I got a 4 on AP Chem, could I place into track 3 and start with organic chem? Would that be okay, or do I need to take gen chem to satisfy pre-med requirements?
6. Any profs whatsoever that you recommend, don’t recommend, PLEASEE let me know specific names! I greatly appreciate it. For both STEM classes and non-bio ones, like for the CORE classes too.
7. Anything i should be doing over the summer to prepare for Columbia, like reading specific books? Doing anything academic/non-academic?
8. when does registration for freshman open up? And should i research the profs and classes I want to take prior to registration opening up?

Inspired by a post by u/SkyD_02. They made me want to share my own theory of clones.
I realized that I wasn’t the only person who questioned whether or not they were a clone, so hopefully this can help others.
(Disclaimer: I have not shifted, but this is a topic that I have dedicated way to much thought to. I also am not a physicist! I just thought there seemed some overlap here. Take this with a grain of salt.)

So, You think you might be a clone.
The mere fact that you are questioning if you are a clone may suggest you aren’t, right? A clone isn’t supposed to question itself. It is supposed to live reality as you normally would. But as a shifter in this CR, this question clearly IS a part of your reality. So, who’s to say clones do not question whether or not they are clones? So you ask yourself once more, can I be a clone?
And the cycle continues…
Let’s talk about Descartes. He was a philosopher who doubted everything. That was his…thing, tearing apart the pre-established views of reality. His one objective truth was the famous “I think, therefore I am.” This refers to the fact that one could not establish whether anything truly exists. It’s the idea that everything we experience could just be one really lucid dream. (This strangely coincides very well with the the idea that our reality is not set and we can therefore “shift,” “manifest,” and experience other such events) The only thing that CAN be established is that we, the one thinking and questioning, exist. You may not know for certain what you are or where you come from, but you do exist. The actively thinking, conscious YOU. In real time. The you that is reading this.
Ok, so we have that. Now lets go with the idea that both you AND your clone have doubts about whether or not you are a clone. (This is where shit gets weird.) That would suggest that both of you think. So, following Descartes’ objective truth, you BOTH exist. But if YOU’re you… and your clone is also YOU…
Then you are your clone! It’s simple Hypothetical Syllogism!
Well… yes and no.
From what I have seen, most shifters who talk about cloning seem to end the reasoning here. This is why so many shifters say that your clone is literally just you!
But this doesn’t seem to be enough explanation for some people (It certainly wasn’t for me.) So lets dive deeper. Shall we?
We have now established that you are both yourself and your clone. But how can this be if you are only one consciousness? Well, I can’t think of a solid piece of science that explains everything. The only explanations I could give are from scientific theories relating to quantum physics. I think the easiest is Schroedinger and the Many Worlds theory.
You know Schroedinger’s Cat? Suppose there is a cat locked in a box with poison (this is a very basic version of it). You don’t know whether the cat is dead or alive until you open the box. It is only until the box is opened and the cat is observed that one of two states becomes the single reality. Now expand this though experiment to the state of quantum particles. A single particle can have infinitely possible states until it is observed, shrinking(collapsing) all possibilities into the one being witnessed by the viewer. But what happened to the rest of the possibilities? Are they just…deleted?
Many Worlds theory says they still exist, but in a separate reality where the particle collapsed on that possibility instead.
So lets apply this to everyday experiences. Say you are about to order food at a restaurant. Schroedinger says that until you have actually ordered something, you have ordered everything, nothing at all, and every possibility in between. Many worlds theory states that once you ordered a burger and fries, the universe fractured. You are currently living the reality where you ordered the burger and fries, but there exists a myriad of realities where you chose differently. Sounding familiar yet?
SO BACK TO SHIFTING!
Suppose you decided you want to shift right now in this very moment, and you did. The universe branches/fractures/splits once more into a reality where you shifted and left your clone behind, a reality where you didn’t shift at all, and every possibility in between. The conscious YOU shifted to another reality, and your clone continues to read this. Alternatively, however, there is a reality where you DIDN’T shift and continue to read this.
But isn’t that one and the same? If your clone continues exactly where you shifted, isn’t your “clone’s” reality and the nonshift version of reality exactly the same?
This is MY proposal of what the “clone” is.
You ARE the clone. Are are also NOT the clone. Using the word “clone” to describe the “other version” of you is really horrible word choice imo. It creates the idea that you’re leaving behind some copy that isn’t actually you, but it IS you. It’s just an alternate version that didn’t shift in that moment. When you shift, you leave behind the reality in which you didn’t shift. The universe splits. There is now the shifted YOU and the nonshifted YOU. Shifted you is now in your DR.
The nonshifted you is what people call their “clone.” When you “shift back” you’re just rejoining your shifted consciousness back with your (no longer) nonshifted self. I have a lot of theories as to what happens when you “shift back” and how shifting could just be the consciousness learning to jump around the infinite “Many Worlds,” but this post is long enough.
To wrap things up, this is just my belief of what the “clone” truly is. I hope you can understand it, and I hope it can ease any worries on the topic. I am in no way an expert on physics, just a bit of a nerd. So if I sorely misunderstood a theory then…. Whoops. Feel free to reply, correct me, and disassemble my world view. This stuff fascinates me.
