My character is a hunter like sam and Dean, only more so like Dean. He is rough, ruthless at times but also caring. He has been tracking a nest of vampires for months and has finally closed in on their location, this having been his first attempt at hunting an entire nest by himself he felt confident he could go it alone. After having made entry into the nest he tries to keep his heart rate down so he would not be detected by the nest, sneaking around hoping to find people alive and saving them. Over the past few months people had randomly gone missing and he knew it had something to do with the vampire nest. He managed to sneak his way around quietly and found a room where there were people chained up. Some had been fed on but one of them hadn’t been yet. He knew he had to act fast to save them before the nest was on red alert. He managed to sneak into he room, untie the woman and tell her to keep quiet and that he was there to save her. They managed to sneak out of the room and down the hall before bumping into a vamp that was roaming the building. He tried to swing his machete at the vamp but was hit and knower several feet backward onto the floor.”run!!” He had yelled to the woman as he got back to his feet and began swinging at the vamp with all his might. As he his another vampire snuck up behind him and stabbed him in the side with a long wooden stake as he winched and grunted in pain. He managed to swing his machete and sever the head of the vamp and pushing the other before running, grabbing the hand of the woman as they ran out of the building and too his truck. They managed to escape away from the building and down the road to the cabin he was staying in the woods. As they entered the cabin he had collapsed to the floor, his shirt covered in blood and wincing in pain.
If you’re interested in this idea, or interested in discussing and brainstorming ideas please message me. The setting for this RP would be within the first few season of the show.

2024.05.16 03:51 Narrow_Muscle9572 Water Bears and Dirt Rats

In 1945, the United States underwent Operation Paperclip which gave over 1,600 German scientists, engineers and technicians sanctuary and absolution of their crimes in exchange for the continuation of their research.
In 1953 those same individuals came up with and executed MK Ultra, an illegal human experiment that used its citizens (targeting schools, hospitals and prisons) as test subjects.
In 1954 the Plum Island was turned into a research center for diseases.
In 1975 the first documented case of Lyme disease occurred. Rumored to have escaped Plum Island.
In 2005 the DHS announced that all the work done at Plum Island would be continued in Kansas. Not just the center of the continental United States, but also home to crops seen in grocery stores all over the country.
The following is a true story.
Getting into work, one of the first things I do is check my mail. I’ve been a reporter for years and have amassed fans who like to write in and give me leads. Most of the time these leads don't amount to much (Sometimes I wonder if people send me things because of my apophenia and they are trying to get me off their scent), but every once in a while I strike gold.
I had been working at Whisper Alley Echos for a few months by the time I got my first lead. The package I got was small and when I opened it I saw a DVD that had the words “play me” written in black marker on it. Not knowing what was on it, I waited until I got home to put it on. Not just because I didnt know what was on it, but I was also busy working on a different project about how everyone in a nearby town just went missing. The official story is that they all went on vacation or went to visit a relative and decided to stay. I dont know about you, but I found that suspicious.
After getting home and shifting gears to get into the movie mood (popcorn, blinds pulled, etc…) I popped the DVD in and began watching.
There were dozens of different videos to pick from, some ranging from a minute to half an hour. Instead of picking one at random, I just played them in order. After all, all their titles were dates and times and I didnt want to miss anything that might make sense later.
The first video featured a tardigrade, at the time I didnt know what it was, but the scientist doing the voice over described it as being a microscopic animal as well as being extremely resilient. This went on for several minutes and for a moment it felt as though I was watching a nature documentary instead of something given to me by a government whistleblower.
The next few videos featured footage of the tardigrades being given something called “BB-F828” and the changes it caused.
The voiceover talked about how a tardigrade (this time he called them water bears and the two terms were interchangeable from this point on) was showing signs of several thousand generations of evolution in only a few days. Even though I know nothing about science, I could see that the thing on the television was not the same animal that was shown in the first video.
While they were never “cute”, at least they never looked like predators, but after a few videos I saw that the tardigrades were covered in what appeared to be padding. In a later video this padding would change into being chitin-like armor.
The last video was filmed two months after the water bears were given BB-F828 and in it the scientists could see them even without a microscope.
The next morning I went into work and started writing on my computer, copying notes from my small notebook. However by the time I started the second draft, Andrea, the office secretary, dropped a letter off at my desk.
It was the first time I got a letter about an “inside scoop” two days in a row.
The letter said that they were the ones who sent the DVD and if I wanted to know more I would have to go to The Rats Skeleton (a bar that used to be a speakeasy during prohibition. Because of this the place feels as though its a front for a comic book villain. The owners have leaned into this and did everything they could to reinforce this feeling with sparse lighting and everything that isn't red velvet on the walls being painted black) at a specific time.
Usually I wouldn't go meet strangers after getting an anonymous letter that tells me to come alone, but its a small town and I didn't have much going on that particular Thursday.
Parking behind the Merc (short for mercantile, where most of the grocery and general shopping is done in town), I descended the stairs and made my way to the back of the bar. There I found a woman that didnt look like she slept in days. Since no one else was in that back area I figured she must have been the person I was there to see.
“Hey, I’m Daniel West. Am I—”
“Sit” the woman said, motioning across from her. I sat down and asked her for her name but she didn’t want to answer me and when i asked for it a second time she claimed it was Jane, but there is no doubt that was not her real name.
“What made you reach out, Jane?”
“You saw the video?”
I nodded. “Yup.”
“And?”
“I have a lot of questions” I answered.
“Figured you would” Jane said. “Ask.”
“Well, first” I said, my journalistic inexperience showing as I went through my pocket notebook. “Who are you and why do you know all this?”
“Name isnt important” Jane answered. “Let me start from the beginning. We thought we were working on human survivability” Jane answered. “I thought that I was working for some company that had a government contract. That might be true, it might not be. Either way lots of money and resources have been put into this.”
“I saw the video” I answered. “What exactly was it that I was watching?”
Janes eyes were frantic as she looked at the stairs behind me. When I turned around to see what she was looking at I saw a local descending the steps and approach the bar. She only answered my question when she was convinced that the man wasn't eavesdropping, still, she spoke in whispers.
“We were working on human survivability.”
“You said that. What does that mean?”
“Exactly what it sounds like. Consider we civilize mars and the long term effects from the static radiation there. Or another planet that demands thicker bones because of increased gravity? Evolution might give us those things eventually but what if we need it now? In this generation?”
“So you made super humans?”
Jane was annoyed and slapped the table. No one was around to hear or see her but I still looked around anyways.
“We didn’t work on humans. We piggybacked off of some other countries' genetic research and made some breakthroughs of our own. When—-“
“Other countries?” I interrupted instead of letting her talk.
“Yeah” Jane said with a shrug. “Some countries aren’t tied down by the same code of ethics as ours.”
“That’s why you got a hold of me? To tell—-“
“We were working on small parts. At first individual genes, building from that success we went on to more complex organisms. Eventually, hopefully, test on humans.”
“But you never made it that far?”
“No” Jane said, taking a sip from her glass. “We tested BB-F828 on other things, building up towards human testing.”
“Okay, like what?”
Jane inhaled through her nose and looked at me as though she wasnt sure if I could be trusted. Then she sighed when she realized it was too late not to trust me, she had already went too far to turn back. “What do you think has the best chance of not only surviving a planet wide disaster, but also thrive in it?”
“Cockroaches” I answered.
Jane nodded. “Sure. Lots of people would agree with you, however that wouldn't be the best pick.”
“Oh? Then what would be?”
“Rats.”
I laughed.
“They are tough and can thrive anywhere. Even before BB-F828 they are smarter than roaches, plus rats have a complicated social hierarchy, similar to humans. Remember, I didn't just say survive. I said thrive.”
“So you tested all this on rats?”
Jane nodded. “We did.”
I waited for Jane to continue, but thanks to her staring off into space due to lack of sleep, she waited longer.
“What happened?”
Janes eyes drifted back at me, she was running on fumes. “Huh? Oh, yeah. Rats, right?” she asked while pulling a folder out from the seat next to her. She set it on the table and slid it over to me. “Here, take a peek.”
I opened it, expecting redacted pages of ‘evidence’ and while I got some of that, it was the photos that drew my attention the most. At first the photos were individual rats and a designated number they received instead of a name.
“How many rats did you experiment—” I started, but my voice trailed off when I came across a photo of the one rat with unique markings on its back now appearing to be bred for a war on pleasant dreams. Its eyes were pearly gray, teeth became tusks, its whiskers were thick and barbed. According to the scale it was on when the second photo was taken it weighed twenty nine point four kilos.
“A few hundred?” Jane answered, though it was obvious that it was just a guess. “They were paired off and put in different environments to see how they adapt.”
“Why would you pair them off?”
“I think it was to see if some would branch out and become their own species” Jane answered as she checked her watch. Seeing the time she sped up. “See, when something with BB-F828 finds itself in a desert, it might adapt to the point that it grows a hump like a camel. Or grow gills if they are in the ocean. The original purpose was for human survivability on other planets. We thought if we could discover how the adaptations work, and it could be repeated exactly the same over and over again, we could do something for humans. After all you wouldn't want anything unexpected to happen when you're in the middle of growing another set of arms or a dorsal fin, right?”Jane said. “But to do this we needed lots of subjects and all in their own environments. Each one had their own surprises, after all, evolution is random. Favors some things over others. One species can branch out to be dozens or hundreds. Thousands with enough time and environmental factors. When the tardigrades started displaying more predatory behavior we thought it was due to the change in diet and the increase in protein, but now we think its due to the rapid change. It drives them insane. All of this was surprising, but none as surprising as the ‘dirt rats’.”
“Wait. They are all insane? Also, dirt rats?” I asked, flipping the photo over to show the next one. This one revealed what I thought was a bear, but when I was about to flip it over to look at the next one I noticed its teeth. Thats when I noticed that it was a huge, muscular rat.
“Six breeding pairs, all kept in an empty pool full of dirt. They weren't given enough room to get out of the dirt, so they had to adapt to living in it. Anyways, because they are in the dirt its harder to keep track of what they are doing. Because of that, by the time we discovered that they had burrowed their way out of the facility it was too late. They were gone.”
“Gone? What do you mean?”
“Escaped,” Jane whispered. “And they are growing.”
“Growing?”
“Last I heard, they were nearly sixty feet but we honestly don't know. It's not like we can compare them to anything else.”
“Sixty feet?” I laughed. “Someone would have saw them by—”
“Underground” Jane said with a shake of her head. “They are underground. I know it's hard to believe, but how else can you explain those earthquakes in Chicago? New York?”
“Are you saying there are giant rats under those cities?”
“I am saying they aren't rats anymore. They are something else entirely. I am saying six breeding pairs might not sound like a lot, but rats reproduce so quickly it's terrifying. I am saying that they are so big and there are so many of them that they are causing those earthquakes. I am saying that due to their size they burn off lots of calories and some have evolved to hibernating.”
“Why hibernation?”
“No idea, but when they wake up they are going to be very hungry. Ravenous.”
“Any idea when that might be?” I asked.
Jane shrugged. “Some already have. We just covered it up.”
It might have been my apophenia talking, but with that statement I started seeing the bigger picture and asked Jane about the town that went missing (The story I was working on before her DVD reached me). Jane gave me the politician's answer, saying something without actually saying something, and that was enough to confirm that I was indeed on the right track.
Unfortunately Jane and I did not speak for much longer, she got a call that freaked her out and she took off. Before she left she took the folder and the pictures I was still going through. I haven't seen or heard from her since and have dropped the story about the disappearances that have secretly been plaguing our country.

2024.05.16 03:50 Ultima_8 Bloodborne - Prologue 5 - TW: Blood, Gore

“Beasts all over the shop…You’ll be one of them, sooner or later…”
The strange Hunter turned around and exhaled. His breath was visible against the night’s air.
He’s bloodlusted. Aegis, I hope you have a plan.
Shimmer saw Elpis step back slightly, with a shocked expression on her face. She shakily raised a claw and pointed at something on the ground.
No. It… it can’t be.
That’s… horrible.
A shattered red jeweled necklace lay strewn across the ground, beside the mangled corpse of the Silkwing.
The Hivewing in front of the three swung his axe to the side. As it was a trick weapon, he was able to change its form on command. The axe had two forms: a shortened form that acted sort of like a sword, and an extended form specialized in crowd control and reach.
He extended his axe and Shimmer heard a low snarl from his throat.
“Do we kill him?” Elpis asked, a hint of fear in her voice.
“We don't have a choice. Steel yourself.” Aegis muttered and brandished his silksabers. The blades gleamed in the soft light of the three moons.
The hunter was taller than all of them, one head taller than Aegis and two taller than Shimmer and Elpis. Black tattered robes clung to him, marking him a Shadowhunter. Blood from tonight’s hunt stained the black fabric, showcasing his expertise and experience in the hunt. He wore a rounded dark-gray hat, and bloodied bandages covered his eyes. Shimmer wondered if he could even see.
Corpses of both beasts and dragons were scattered about the square-shaped courtyard, an equal amount of gravestones breaking up the open space. His teeth were uneven as if he had been eating and chewing rough bones. Blood dripped from his mouth down his neck, and his Hivewing stingers flexed in anticipation.
“Be careful,” Aegis started, “He’s going to use magic. Elpis, don’t use any of yours.” He told the hybrid dragon beside him, and she nodded.
The hunter walked slowly around them, searching for a weakness in their structure, and then spat out a lump of coagulated blood.
“That stench of squalid blood. No beast will be spared.” He half-muttered and half-growled. He tipped his hat respectfully, before lunging at Elpis. She dove to the side, and tried to retaliate with her scythe, but just slightly missed.
This hunter was agile, surprisingly so considering how old he looked. Shimmer gripped the handle of her silkhammer, knowing it wasn’t the time to strike. She stepped backward, seeking cover behind a grave, while Aegis leaped forward with the intent to pierce the frenzied hunter’s heart. Once again, the hunter rolled to the side and sent his axe hurtling towards the smaller Silkwing. Shimmer felt fear grip her heart, but Aegis avoided the blade. He fell back and motioned for Elpis to stay back.
“A sporting hunt. But alas, I’ve forgotten to ask your name.” Aegis growled, and the hunter laughed a sick, disturbing laugh.
“The name’s Gascoigne.” He shot back, and jumped into the air, slamming his axe down where Aegis was a split second ago. Shimmer’s ears rung from the sound of the impact. Her antennae subconsciously curled in defensively.
“Gascoigne. That’s a nice name. I’ll tell Ludwig you were a proud hunter till the end.” Aegis replied and sent his twin blades slicing into the hunter’s thigh. He recoiled, and a gleeful laugh escaped his bloodied mouth.
“Hehe… the sweet stench of blood. Just… just marvelous!” He exclaimed and raised his off-talon towards Aegis.
“Aegis! Get down!” Shimmer called, and a burst of flame erupted from the hunter’s claws across the courtyard. The limited magic the Hivewing had that he was willing to use in this hunt.
Aegis fell back, hissing in pain as a few stray flames singed his tail. The hunter chuckled under his breath, and Elpis took advantage of the opening he had presented her. She thrust the blade of her scythe toward him, opting for its sword form as of now, and the hunter knocked the blow aside. He countered with a kick to the Ice-Hivewing’s ribs, and she was sent to the ground. She coughed up a spurt of blue Icewing blood, and the hunter lifted his axe for a finishing blow.
Shimmer roared out and swung her hammer toward the hunter. The silk connected it to her wrists as it flew through the air, and it hit the hunter square in his side just as his axe was falling. He was sent into the opposite side of the courtyard, coughing and sputtering, but with a faint smirk on his face. Shimmer was in disbelief; how was he not dead?
“Ooh, what’s that smell… the sweet blood, ooh, it sings to me! It's enough to make a dragon sick.” Gascoigne laughed hollowly. He raised his talon, and Shimmer quickly rolled to the side as a ball of flame soared past her horns.
He’s going to turn at this rate.
Shimmer hid under a gravestone as a tree behind her erupted in flames, and Aegis jumped into the air. He beat his four wings ferociously before diving into the hunter. He caught both of Aegis’ horns, and he twisted his head. Aegis fell to the ground, and Gascoigne slashed his axe down across the Silkwing’s leg. Aegis cried out, and Shimmer’s heart ached. She pushed herself up, ignoring the raging fire around her, and she threw her hammer up in the air and aimed it towards the hunter. He narrowly evaded the heavy impact of the stone before Shimmer heard a metal clang behind her.
Elpis, scythe in one talon, approached Gascoigne. She had the little music box in her other.
Elpis played the music box and a song of eerie notes filled the courtyard.
The hunter stumbled back, clawing at his face, and Elpis shot Shimmer a look, her face telling her to make sure Aegis was okay.
Elpis advanced on the struggling hunter, and Shimmer leaped over to her Silkwing partner, who was injured on the ground. She felt tears welling in her eyes, but she knew this wasn’t the time to cry.
“Aegis. Look at me. Look at me.” She repeated, and he lifted his head weakly. His leg had a massive gash in it, but he could probably still walk, just with a limp.
“Ah, Shimmer. I’m alright. I’ll be back in the fight. Go, help Elpis. I’ll join back soon enough.” He groaned, and the pair heard a roar behind them.
Elpis was locked in a duel with Gascoigne, and the hunter’s stray fireballs met with blasts of frostbreath. For the first time in the battle, the hunter had a slight look of fear on his face. Elpis was relentless, her burial blade swiftly countering and stopping any attempt Gascoigne made at advancing. Aegis crawled back and attempted to stand, using a grave for support.
“Shimmer! I can’t hold him for long!” Elpis called, and Shimmer nodded. She took the hammer in her claws and swung it around her side, and in a clockwise circle in the air. It was the perfect counterweight to her body weight. She hoisted it up further into the air and then brought it crashing down onto the hunter.
It struck Gascoigne directly on the spine, and he fell to the ground.
He screamed in pain.
And then, a bright light flashed from his body.
His screams deepened in tone, morphing to be more animalistic. His posture fell forward, and his muscles rippled through his body. He grew in size, and more of his bloodied garb ripped from the size change.
Fur sprouted from seemingly random places on the Hivewing’s body, and his claws extended. His face shifted, his features becoming more and more distorted. His black hat fell to the ground.
The bandages around his eyes stayed, as well as the black-tattered garb that marked him as once a Hunter.
He was no longer a Hunter. Moons above, he wasn’t even a dragon anymore.
He was now a beast.
Shimmer’s heart pounded in her chest. She stared at the transformation for a split second, before reeling in her hammer. She took it in her right talon and dove behind a gravestone, wary of the spreading flames.
Elpis, on the other claw, held her blade in front of her. Shimmer heard a rasping cough escape the Ice-HiveWing’s throat, but she didn’t break her stance.
The beast that was once Gascoigne whipped around toward Elpis, and launched himself at her, with a ferocity Shimmer had never seen even in beasts.
Elpis sidestepped quickly. The beast slammed into the wall with a loud roar, and Shimmer spied Aegis in her peripheral vision struggling to stand. He winced as he stood on his injured leg, but didn’t cry out. He brandished his two blades as the beast charged at him.
“Aegis!” Shimmer cried.
He’s going to get hit. That beast will kill him.
Aegis ignored her, and as soon as the beast was within a wingspan from him he twisted his body in such a way that he narrowly avoided the savage charge. He elegantly sliced his twin blades across the beast’s hide, and the creature howled before rapidly turning to face him.
Shimmer flew into the air. “Get away from him!” She yelled before bringing the weight of her hammer down on the beast. It flattened part of his ribcage, but it seemed impervious to the pain. It did knock him to the ground, though, giving Aegis a moment to cut through what was once two of the hunter’s wings.
The beast quickly got back on its claws before sending a flurry of swipes towards Shimmer. She dodged to the side and readied her hammer for another strike.
That was before the beast kicked her square in her chest, its sharp, ravenous claws digging in and tearing her scales. Shimmer fell back, a slight gasp escaping her mouth, and she stumbled back into the wall. She lost her footing and fell to the ground, and gazed up at the beast locked on her.
“Aegis! Help!” She yelled, and not even a second later her Silkwing partner crashed into the beast. They fell to the ground, grappling with each other before Shimmer heard a familiar song fill the courtyard.
Elpis was cranking the music box, its ominous lullaby breaking up the noise of the fight. The beast stopped attacking Aegis and instead clawed at its face. It growled and screamed in pain, drawing blood from its very own fur and scales.
“Now! Kill it!” She yelled through the song, and Aegis nodded before driving his two blades through the beast’s skull.
They stuck, and the beast roared before throwing him off. It crawled and thrashed about on the ground, clearly not dead, and the two new blades stuck to his head pointed out like new horns.
Now’s my chance.
Shimmer stumbled to her claws and wound her hammer up into the air. With every last bit of her strength, she brought it down on the flailing beast.
It crushed what was left of the hunter.
Silence filled the courtyard, only broken by a few stray notes from the music box, the pained breathing of the three hunters in the area, and the howls and screams from other places in the Hive.
Shimmer breathed a sigh of relief, before collapsing.
I did it. We did it.
Gascoigne was free.

“I brought you water.”
Shimmer opened her eyes and found herself in her familiar hospital room.
The morning sun’s rays lit the room, and Shimmer felt very little pain from her chest.
It had been three days since that night.
Shimmer fixed her gaze on the purple-orange Silkwing sitting beside her and smiled.
“Thanks. I’m feeling much better, we should get going to Bloodworm soon. It’s today, remember?” Shimmer asked, and he nodded. Of course, he remembered.
The summons for every hunter to come to Bloodworm Hive. Ludwig, The Holy Blade had requested them all. He no doubt planned an attack. A shame really, the hive was only newly rebuilt. And now it was going to be the site of a horrid, savage warzone.
“I remember. Are you sure you’re feeling okay? Ludwig would understand if you couldn’t come,” Aegis asked, and she spied a hint of worry on his face.
“I’m fine. I need to make sure you don’t do anything stupid. I’ll come.” She sighed and took a sip from the canteen that Aegis had brought. It tasted wonderful, he had put something in to flavor it.
“Honeydew?” She guessed, and Aegis smiled.
“Yep. It’s your favorite, right?” He asked, and she nodded. She opened her arms, and he hugged her tight.
“I love you,” Shimmer whispered in his ear.
“I love you too. I pray to Clearsight that we’ll both be safe today. I can’t bear to lose you.” Aegis replied. He pulled away and gazed out the window.
Shimmer quickly drank the rest of the honeydew-flavored water before getting out of bed. She joined him at the window and was slightly surprised by what she saw.
Almost all of the hunters of Jewel Hive were preparing, some of them already flying in the direction of Bloodworm. They were all sharpening their trick weapons, mixing poisons, or saying goodbye to loved ones.
“We should get going. It’ll be midmorning when we get there, I don’t want to be late.” Shimmer suggested, and Aegis put a wing around her.
“Now? I need to get my stuff, and you do too. Join me at the workshop.” He asked, and she slid her head in the curve of his neck as he led her out of her sick room.

Shimmer beat her wings strong and fast against the morning savanna winds.
She saw what looked to be several hundred, maybe even a thousand dragons gathered around a hill. All of them had a colored garb fluttering proudly from their neck. Around ninety percent of the garbs were white, and the rest were black.
They were all different tribes and a fair amount of hybrids were scattered about as well. The gathered hunters were mostly Pantalan, but a good few were from Pyrrhia as well.
Shimmer and Aegis landed a short distance away from the hill, and all around them the sounds of dragons conversing and laughing with each other.
The sun was high in the sky, but it wasn’t quite noon yet.
“You see anyone you recognize?” Aegis asked, and Shimmer shook her head.
“There’s too many dragons here. It’s too much.” She whimpered, and Aegis pulled her close. He knew she didn’t do well in crowds. That was partly why she became a Shadowhunter. To work alone or with no more than a few other dragons.
“You’re safe with me.” He comforted her, and she leaned against him.
She had always hated being with a lot of other dragons. Aegis said it sounded like she had anxiety, which made sense. It didn’t do much to alleviate that fear, though.
None of them are thinking about you. They’re all busy with their own stuff.
Just take deep breaths.
“Do you want to move away? There’s fewer dragons over there,” He asked and pointed a claw across from them.
“…No, no I’m fine.” She whispered, and Aegis sighed.
“Alright. If you want to move, don’t be afraid to ask. I don’t mind it.”
Shimmer shook her head quickly, before the pair heard a loud voice from the top of the hill. They both looked up and saw the legendary hunter himself: Ludwig.
The menacing Nightwing stood proudly, his holy silver sword slung across his shoulder. His partner Memoria stood beside him, her tail twined around his. She had a bored look on her face as she stared at the crowd. The voices of the dragons fell silent, and Shimmer felt like she could breathe again.
The Nightwing’s loud voice echoed through the plain. “Dear Hunters.” He paused, his heroic voice inspiring pride and triumph in Shimmer, even though he had barely started.
“I’m sure all of you know why we’re here. Behind me, Bloodworm Hive stands proud against the horizon. Yet I am more than certain you all know what lies inside.” He paused and pointed his sword toward the dark shape of the Hive.
“Beasts. A few thousand. I think it’s time we put them out of their misery. That is why we are here. A battle of the ages, one that will go down in history. We, the brave heroes, fighting against evil. We will be reveled, we will be honored. We will protect the dragons we hold dear to our hearts, and save those we can yet save.” His speech roused the crowd, and Shimmer felt herself stand a little taller.
“The plan is simple. The Hunters of the Sun will lead the charge from the front. I have already talked to the leaders of the charge. The Shadowhunters will pick the stray beasts off from behind. We will attack at dusk when half the sun is hidden from the eye.” He gestured with his sword at the rising sun, and he extended his wings. His massive wingspan seemed to fill the sky, and Shimmer's heart swelled with pride.
He held his sword up to the heavens, and it transformed. It grew larger, into the shape of a claymore, and it turned a shade of sacred jade. It glowed with an otherworldly light, and the crowd was enamored by the display.
“Now, hunters. Spend the rest of today preparing. The hunt is on tonight. Ludwig, The Holy Blade will be with all of you in spirit.” He bellowed, and the crowd erupted in applause and cheers.
Shimmer saw a proud, triumphant look in Aegis’ eyes, and she felt the same. Ludwig’s blade captivated her. The blade of legend, inspiring all who lay eyes on it.
Ludwig would be with them tonight. The best, the greatest, the strongest hunter ever.
Tonight, the hunters would not know defeat.
Nor would they ever, with Ludwig alive and at their side.
May the good blood guide your way,

Abdominoplasty w/muscle repair and Brachioplasty advice, comments, things you wish you knew before, recovery time, etc.? Feeling scared!
Hi everyone! I underwent gastric bypass about 2.5 years ago and lost 150lbs and have gained about 25 back since. Although some weight gain was necessary (I was beginning to get gaunt and a little weak), I am struggling with a lot of dysmorphia and feeling 290lbs all over again. I believe mostly due to the loose skin and I planned on removing it pretty soon after I even made the decision to have bypass. It feels heavy and just not like my own body anymore.
I’m so stoked to be getting both an abdominoplasty and a brachioplasty on July 31st of this year, but the more the date inches closer I am feeling quite anxious. Skin removal is tough, but I know muscle tightening will be hell at first. I’ve been doing lots of research and communicating with my surgical team, but still wanted to seek advice from people who have gone through it as well.
So far, I have a plan to use a recliner for the first week or two, have taken time off work (I’m a therapist, so when I return I can still be laying low physically), and my best friend will be staying with me for the first week to help me with bathing, cooking, etc. I am really concerned about the pain management. I’ve taken hydrocodone no issues since I have chronic kidney stones, but the one time I used an oxycodone, I was so incredibly sick to my stomach. I have emetophobia (the fear of vomiting) and I am so worried about being sick post op from the medication, but I’m also thinking that hydrocodone might not cover the pain enough and I’ll have to use something like oxycodone.
That’s basically it, but I’d love to hear any advice, suggestions, reassurance, success stories, things you wish you would have known before… I’m looking forward to being in the other side of this and able to give someone else advice one day! TIA 🫶🏼🎉

2024.05.16 03:49 Electronic-Air-9091 Sleeping Pad Comfort?

So I've been trying to make an inflatable sleeping pad work as a bed in my van. I find it pretty comfortable, but for some reason it hurts my neck. I've tried all kinds of firmness levels on it as a side sleeper, and several kinds of house pillows, and though I sleep through the night, I wake up with stiff pain in my neck that never happens even on crappy normal mattresses.
Kind of stumped. I feel like it should be possible to correct whatever posture issue is causing this pain, but everything I've tried hasn't really worked. I'm a side sleeper and use the rei brand 2.5 inch sleeping pad, so it's pretty cushy, and even when trying out an Exped Megamat 10, I encountered the same problem. Something about the "air mattress" physics of it seems to be causing the pain. Any advice?

2024.05.16 03:48 RambleRound I feel like time with my boy is running out

I feel like time with my boy is running out
On Sunday my boy started limping and licking his nail, the nail had a bit of a hangnail, so made an appointment for the vet on Wednesday to get it removed.
Monday night he suddenly can’t use that leg at all and is screaming in pain, I get some pain meds in him and he eventually settles down.
Tuesday he starts a little more normally again
Wednesday he eats breakfast and immediately throws it up, shaking panting, throwing up 10+ times.
Vet did some X-rays, vertebrae in the neck are narrowing and likely causing the leg pain. We already had a close call two years ago with a herniated disc where we thought we were going to lose him.
No insight into the vomiting, we’re back from the vet with some meds on board, and he’s stopped vomiting, but now has the runs and seems generally unwell and has no interest in food.
He already has chronic back problems (IVDD), which he has PT appointments for every 4 weeks, now a neck issue and whatever is going on with his stomach.
It’s all a bit too much, I’m so tired, I feel like we’re getting a “oh no, is this it?” Moment every couple months. It’s just been hard, it’s wearing me down and it’s gotten hard to be around him when he’s clearly uncomfortable/in pain which makes me feel incredibly guilty.

2024.05.16 03:42 everythingpwetty how long does burnout last for you?

hi! I was curious how long you guys experience symptoms from severe burn out. I’m a college student and this week is the beginning of my summer break. last semester I was in class 18 hours a week, working 30 hours a week and doing homework in my spare time. as you can imagine, it totally killed me. by the end I was calling in sick a lot and ditching class because I couldn’t handle it.
now everything is calm. I’m still working but it’s a very sedentary job, my hours are significantly reduced and I’ve only worked one day this week. despite this, I can barely move. I’ve been hoping to do stuff all day but I don’t even have the energy to get out of bed. on top of that, I feel extremely disoriented, emotional and confused. I’ve been this way since the day before the last day, a week ago. I thought I had contracted an illness at first because it was so intense.
even the tinniest sound irks me. I’ve had to wear my earplugs all day even though I’m at home and all there is to hear is bird calls, passing cars and the occasional neighbor stepping outside. I feel an intense impending sense of doom without cause. my meltdowns are daily and my partner can’t handle it anymore. I don’t know how I can keep living like this, nothing seems to help.

2024.05.16 03:40 Interesting_Stand794 Discouraged

Going on two weeks of not being able to walk, when I stand up it feels like a pulling burning from by left buttocks down my leg. When I go to put pressure to take a step burning gets worse and I lose all strength in my leg. This happened a day after I gave birth to my daughter and I haven’t been able to do any of the things I planned with her. Had to fight my doctor to order me an mri and the order is out until September at the latest…. I’m not sure how to find motivation to keep going I don’t see an end to this emotion and physical torture. They keep telling me it’s normal but this doesn’t feel normal, everything I read says walking helps with sciatica. But I can’t walk and sitting reclined is the most comfortable I can be, been stuck to my couch since coming home from delivering my daughter. Health care is absolutely insane they would rather push narcotics than do the testing necessary to tell me what’s going on. Any advice or just someone who’s gone through something similar. I’m scared I’ll be like this for months and miss her life because of this pain. I cry every single day from this

2024.05.16 03:38 textrovertedginger A4A - Looking for partner for long term Harry Potter RP

Hi all! I'm 30+, write 2-5+ paragraphs, post a few times per week, and love plotting! I'm currently looking for someone to plot out and write a long term Harry Potter RP with Canon/Canon pairings. I have several different plot ideas, but I'm also open to any ideas interested parties may already have brewing! I'm looking for someone who will match my enthusiasm, doesn't mind my meandering pace, and is interested in some long running and complex stories.
Pairings M/F - Hermione/Draco; Hermione/Harry; Hermione/Severus; Hermione/Lucius; George/(Hermione or Pansy)/Fred M/M - Draco/Harry; Draco/Ron; ArthuLucius, George/(Draco or Harry)/Fred
I don't have a preference for which character I play in any of those pairings. I’m happy to double with pairings and characters outside of what's listed above; I really can't think of a character I wouldn't be interested in exploring from canon!
Plot Bunnies These are just jumping off points - I’d love to hear any ideas interested parties might have as well!
Intense Wartime Romance What it says on the tin! I’m craving an intense wartime drama/romance for any of the pairings listed above! Missions trying to bring down Voldemort, safehouses, polyjuice potions, all sorts of shenanigans. I see this as being in a universe where the war went longer. Maybe the Trio isn’t able to get the Cup so the efforts drag on and on while Voldemort gains followers and becomes even more brutal in his attacks.
World-Spanning Epic Ten years after the fall of Voldemort the numbers of magical children have dropped off a cliff and occurrences of squibs in magical families has skyrocketed. In fact, all around the world, in every magical species, numbers were dropping off all at once. Magic is dying and, for whatever reasons, our characters get thrust together to find a way to fix it. This would involve our characters visiting other magical societies/preserves/etc around the world, with a lot of possibility for worldbuilding original content for them to encounter.
6th Year Rewrite This is specifically Draco-centered. A rewrite where someone from the Golden Trio ends up befriending/romancing him and things change drastically.
Time Travel Fix-It - Full Series Rewrite What it says on the tin! Somehow one or both of our characters get sent back from the end of canon to the beginning with all their memories intact. An opportunity to change the way things happened; to save friends who died and bring to justice those who escaped it the first time around. This would be a really ambitious, super long term project.
Word Bank (Sort Of) Romance; intrigue; mystery; action/adventure; time travel; bold declarations; political intrigue; other magical societies; tenderness; Order missions; episodic and overarching plots; slow burn; purebloods in the Muggle world; internal struggles against childhood indoctrination into pureblood bigotry; gritty realism; moral ambiguity; arranged marriages; experimental magic; a magical apocalypse but the characters are kind of over heroics and mostly just complain while they save the world again.
If any of this interests you, please send me a message with a little about yourself and as much as you want about what you're interested in playing!

2024.05.16 03:38 urmumacuz Does skipping leg day and neglecting abs cause lower back pain?

I’m a amateur boxer and have been suffering from lower back pain. It is relatively mild but after boxing it is severe and takes a day to recover from.
I probably don’t do enough training for my abs/legs compared to the rest of my body. This is due to how I thought the ab training and legs I do at boxing was enough. Outside of boxing I train my back arms and chest mainly and half ass legs once in a while. I have put a-lot of muscle on in these areas.
Today I trained my core and legs with weights at the gym. And afterwards I have felt non / minimal lower back pain from things that usually cause some pain, such as when I first lay down, or getting up from sitting down. Am I getting excited over nothing or could my neglect of training abs/legs be the reason for my lower back pain?

2024.05.16 03:35 Kurora55 I can no longer do my main stim and I am wishing I learned how to supress it better

First time finding here, so Im sorry if this doesn't fit but I cant really find anywhere else. I am also pretty new to this, as I only got officially diagnosed around 7 months ago. When I was 17, I had my family doctor at the time go "oh you're a gifted kid struggling? Here have these ADD pills", which didn't work for multiple pills, so I never realized I might have until I met someone with ADHD in college that was like "you need to be tested because you are just like me". So yeah... Don't know how universal that is, but I'm just glad I have meds that work now. Anyways..
For years, I (24f) have been pacing in circles before I go to bed. I have been doing this seen my early teens, even before I was diagnosed to help regulate my mood and energy so I can get out any built up tension and energy from the day, allowing my brain to slow down enough my sleeping meds can work. I used to do it whenever I could, but as my family realized it was a regular thing that I couldn't stop doing, they got upset, and if I was caught doing this, I would get insulted, being told about how funny I looked pacing to music, or bugged about why I cant do things a "normal" way, like using a treadmill (I tried, it doesn't work, I don't keep a steady pace, I walk to the beat of the music which, you know, changes every song) or go for a walk (I live in a really bad area, so its completely unsafe to do so). So then I would move rooms so they couldn't see me.
Well, they would figure out which room I was using and when, then they would decide that they would be using that room at the times I was normally there (which I purposely chose so they would routinely be doing other things in other parts of the house). After being blocked from pretty much every room, I got relegated to the basement, which they would stuff with things into giant piles. This worked fine for a bit, because I worked evenings so I could pace after they went to bed. Even when I got laid off from that job, I could still be up late and tire myself out so I could get up and function.
Well, now my work schedule has changed from nights to early mornings, like I'm waking up at 3:30am, which means I have to go to bed hours before anyone else, blocking me from pacing. I am also very close to my period, and I have really bad PMS moods when I can regulate, and it is so much worse. Like my body is constantly twitching and moving way more than normal and I just feel so uncomfortable, like there are ants in my skin, which spirals into my anxiety, causing my neck to twitch a lot (anxiety symptom, which also then proceeds to get made fun of). My anxiety also makes the need to move worse, so it spirals and I can't get out of it. Or the need to move gets so much that its almost painful and I start to cry.
I currently cannot move out, due to me not even being in this new job long enough for my first paycheck, plus student debt and housing prices being so high ( like this new jobs pays me a good bit more and I couldnt afford a small bachelor without having at least 2 or 3 others there too). Just for a chance to have some privacy, I bought my own lock for my glorified closet of a room (I'm not joking, my twin bed takes up 3/4s of the space I have, so I cant even pace in this room since I will stub my toe constantly on my bed frame).
I cant just sit with my dog (since petting her helps a lot) because my family's dogs come and shove her out of the way and I get in trouble for telling them off. Cant go to therapy since my therapist feels bad for me (last time I went I got a genuine "I am so sorry that you have to just survive" and that is a whole deal I refuse to unpack. All my fidgets that I have are for my hands which doesn't help near as much since it doesn't engage my brain at the same time, and I am at a loss for what to do. Every alternative I have tried doesn't work either for me or for the situation, and I just wish I could explain things and have someone understand in my life. Hell, I had to blame the fact I get overwhelmed at the sound of a vacuums or loud music on the fact I have severe migraines, since it gives a reason why my brain just melts down when it happens.
I know I have to be patient, and see things through, but getting this one comfort I had for over half my life ripped away just really sucks. If anyone has read this far, and has any tips, it would be greatly appreciated. I am just at a loss at what to do.

2024.05.16 03:32 Slepnir1570 Silicone-free moisturizer?

Hi all. New here, and don’t use Reddit much other than to scroll the Popular page, but I’m desperate. Please be patient with me.
I developed eczema from when COVID first started. I have anxiety and OCD tendencies, and it went into over washing my hands and wrists until I ruined my skin and skin barrier.
I got my skin mostly healed but in January my brother accidentally bought the wrong detergent (he was visiting and didn’t know any better) and it caused a flare that I can’t heal.
I’ve had two dermatologist appointments that were awful and led nowhere, even though I did learn from the first appointment that there’s a system to layering moisturizers; 1) oil, 2) lotion, 3) ointment.
My question is this: does anyone know of any silicone-free moisturizers that work to heal skin that is raw and that has caused nerve pain? I don’t like silicone in my skincare and I usually use Etsy for my skincare because I have more control over knowing the ingredients as I have allergies to some things, but nothing seems to be working, and my skin feels like a burn currently.
I’m really, really close to just giving up and using something with silicone in it even though I don’t want to.
Can anyone please help me even though this is probably a last ditch effort? Thank you so much.

2024.05.16 03:31 Waterboy3794 Episode 8

My version of episode 8
The episode starts with a flashback of yue.. she is a child who's playing with other children and finds an injured baby sea lion. She tries to heal it but it doesn't seem to get better. She takes the baby sea lion to the oasis and puts it in the scared water and tries to pray to ocean and moon spirit to heal her.. she hears the whispers "heal" and follows the instruction and uses healing ability to heal the sea lion and it helps.. her friends witness this and they tell their elders about this. Everyone realizes that yue is blessed with special healing abilities, and only she can heal something serious in the scared oasis hence she is hailed as the priestess of the northern water tribe.
We cut to the present and we see her walking with sokka in the hallways of the town hall talking about stuff like how she feels connection to every waterbender and how the full moon makes her feel more alive than ever.. she talks about mystical stuff such as spirits and spirit world and how some spirits are dangerous while some are essential for life. Sokka compliments her and tells her her blue eyes feels so bright and entrapping. As both come closer to each other surt falls on them.. sokka recognises the danger and says ' they will be here soon'.
We cut to katara secretly training in a cave with some young waterbenders.. they taught her some drills which strengthened her basics and she developed new techniques while she teaches them the moves she created on her own. Aang is there but he's busy amusing some of the children student and he's not a great waterbender himself. Katara shows concern to aang telling him he needs to learn and show some progress. Aang shows a worried look and agrees with her as they position themselves to began the training the snow falling outside the cave turns dark. Confused everyone steps out and sees the surt. while most of them are unaware, just like sokka katara recognises the incoming danger and takes aang back to agne quela. The chief gather everyone in the hall and tells them about the imminent war and asks for volunteers to enlist. Sokka stands up fast and moves forward to receive the mark of soldier while aang, katara and yue look with concern. Sokka tells them he needs to prove himself to be a real warrior and that will happen only when he tests himself in the battlefield. Aang and katara assures sokka he doesn't need to prove anything but he insists.
Scene cuts to fire nation navy ship scouting for any incoming danger in the fog and spots appa incoming, alerting the ship but it's no use as the trio of aang, sokka and katara easily defeat everyone and disable the ship and it's weapon, as they ride Appa out of it and reach the clear sky, they get the view or the entire fleet that's heading to the city.. they quickly retreat to the city and inform them, aang hopelessly falling on his knees and starts to profuesly apologise that he's sorry he's not prepared for this. The chief assures him his spirit along with ocean and moon spirit will ensure the victory of the tribe, no matter the cost.
Scene cuts to the ships of fire nation where Zhao discusses the attack plan with iroh. He tells him that the geographical challenges in invading the north pole are immense but they can be bypassed by using different ways of travel. Iroh looks with confusing so Zhao shows him the air balloon being prepared to which Iroh questions his motive. Zhao tells him in order to win this war he needs to disarm the water tribe, completely and it's entirely possible because there's only one entity in the world that carries the power of bending for all waterbender and it's the moon spirit. Iroh questions feasibility of this plan and how Zhao plans to find the spirit and kill and how killing it is possible. To which Zhao replies that he came across some scrolls that he found in the library that he found during his serving in desert and the guardian spirit went to spirit world so he scoured entire library looking for ways to weaken other nations but only found fire nation and water tribe weakness. He dismisses the fire nation weakness saying that it's important that information dies with him for the safety of fire nation but every full moon, the spirits dance in the reflections of sacred places. He reveals a dagger, which he retrieved from roku's temple that Roku has collected over his life. The dagger belonged to avatar kuruk and has special abilities to bypass any spiritual barrier and kill any spirit because it is made from the bone of a lion turtle. Kuruk crafted this weapon in order to fight the dark spirits and he needed a weapon that could kill any spirit without resistance. This worries Iroh and questions zhao's motives and the implications that would arise with the death of moon spirit. Zhao dismisses it but Iroh doesn't push his luck so he can join him and act when he needs to. The scene cuts to iron explaining zhao's plan to a masked soldier who unmasks himself to reveal an injured zuko who survived zhao's assassination attempt. Zuko feels alarmed by zhao's progress and informs Iroh that he'll leave the ships immediately and go to north pole as the ships get near. Iroh asks him his plan to which zuko gives vague answers, worrying Iroh.
Scene cuts to the wall of northern water tribe where there's dead silence and gust of winds blowing... The silence is unnerving but suddenly a fire ball appears through the fog and strikes the wall. The soldiers scatter with the attack but gather and try to contain the rain if fireball that is being sent by the catapults of the uncountable fire nation ships. Katara helps anyone she can and approaches pakku. She tells him that there's need for every pair of hands in order for them to defend their home, he can carry on with his traditions later but now it is not the time to be stubborn. Yagoda agrees with and tells her while a fireball heads their way, katara, yagoda and bunch of female waterbenders stop it from impacting and freezing it in towering ice. Pakku realises their potential and positions them at exposed point in order for them to stop further damage from the fireballs. Aang also tries to stop the damage but it's too much yet he helps other soldiers retreive. The chief tells yue that there are soldiers that need immediate attention in the sacred pond and tasks sokka to guard her while she heals the gravely injured. They head to the pond and heal many of the soldiers who walk out of the oasis, as they leave and sokka and yue are about to head out they notice an air balloon descending towards the oasis. They hide in the bushes nearby and observe who is there and what they are trying to achieve. As aang is helping outside at the front, kuruk appears to him and informs him about the dagger presence, it's properties and how it can end the life of most powerful spirits and pleads him to go the sacred oasis where the most powerful spirits reside during events like full moon. Zhao looks around in the oasis reciting the words he read in the scroll about spirits. He sees two koi fishes circling each other, slightly glowing. He recognises the eternal dance and decides to kill the spirit. Iroh warns him that the spirits are something that should not be trifled with and threatens him force if he proceeds with his actions. While Aang heads for the oasis through kuruk's temple, zuko confronts him and asks him to surrender and come with him. Katara asks Aang to go ahead and stop Zhao while she takes on zuko. They both fight with their best but with katara sharpening her skills and catching zuko by surprises, she easily overpowers him after several bouts. Aang also arrives and tells Zhao how spirits are important for everyone, even fire nation. The spiritual balance needs to be maintained in order for life on earth to survive, without it everything will fall apart. Zhao steps back from the pond but at everyone's surprise jumps in with the dagger and stabs the moon spirit, turning everything grey and moonlight vanishing from sky. Yue faints and aang feels striking pain in his head as he senses the loss of balance. Iroh strikes Zhao several times but Zhao manages to escape. Iroh runs behind him while looking at yue and telling her you have unique life in you. Aang gets flashbacks of air temple, kyoshi's harsh words and kuruk's word about how he should walk alone on this path and there needs to be certain sacrifice in order to achieve the results. During all this, aang hears some somber chants. Those chants were something knew but very familiar to him. He senses the chants coming from the pond. The chant is "Na Mo A Mi Tuo Fo Shin Di" which translates to "I bow to infinite light". It's a chant that is used by spirits when they are in danger or need of help towards the avatar spirit. As aang moves closer to the pond the chant intensifies. Yue expresses her despair and how everything is destroyed and it's over, simultaneously aang enters avatar state and with thousands voices says "no, it's not over". Aang walks into the pond and stands near the ocean spirit which circles aang, starting a ritual of combining their power. Aang dips into the ocean and emerges as koizilla. This prompts the water tribe citizens to bow to their diety immediately and koi zilla recognises the fire nation forces and starts to wipe them out of the city.
As Zhao runs through the streets of ange quela, he is confronted by zuko who duels him in order to avenge assassination attempt. Zuko eventually overpowers Zhao and questions why he did it to which Zhao reveals he knows about his blue spirit identity thanks to his sister. He goes further and tells him that his father and sister think of you as a failure and your father used you to push your sister to new heights and now she's more powerful than ever. Zuko walks away in shame and sadness after hearing this. Seeing the opportunity Zhao tries to take a cheap shot at him but is immediately torched by Iroh and drops into the water channel that has glow of ocean spirit. Aang in koizilla wrecks havoc on fire nation fleet amid their constant attacks through the catalputs but he overpowers them and sends a wave huge enough to ruin the fleet. Katara tries to speak to aang and talk him out of this destruction but aang's sense of worldly concern is gone and he intends to help the spirit until they are at peace and balance.
We cut to oasis and sokka talks about the possibility of bringing back the moon spirit to which yue has flashbacks to how she was so extraordinary, and she finally accepts the fact that she needs to repay the debt. She gives sokka a kiss and while sokka is not looking she freezes his feet in order to immobilize him. She walks into the oasis pond and picks up the dead koi fish, while sokka pleads her not to and using her healing power with her spirit's concentration and disappears into the strong light, which after few seconds goes away and the moon spirit has returned in form of the koi fish. Sokka watches yue disappear like that and cries in loss. The moon appears back into the sky and grabs aang and the koizilla's attention. Katara tells aang how important he is to her and how aang is still needed by everyone. She tells him that he might have lost a family but also gained one in form of her and sokka. This convinces aang to stop his rampage as the balance has been restored and he is retreated back to the shore by the ocean spirit into katara's arms. The sun rises and everyone begins to face the aftermath of war by removing the debris, helping the injured and securing the corpses of the fallen. Aang looks at the mayhem and destruction and blames himself from not stopping it. Katara tries to comfort him by telling him the bad actions of other people is not your fault, but he tells her it's his job to stop them and flies away on his glider. later, a funeral ceremony is held. The chief thanks the Martrys and the injured for their courage and sacrifice and how their valiant effort stopped the fire nation. He pays respect to yue for restoring balance and speaks how proud he is of her sacrifice. Pakku also announces that some traditions are outdated, and they need to change like water. He announced that women will no longer be prohibited from learning waterbending combat and everyone is free to learn what they want to. Chief ends the speech with saying there have been losses but we always move forward from these because it's our nature to adapt and overcome difficulties and losses. Aang realizes that loss of life is part of the cycle of life and he cannot prevent everything but he can always try. He remembers gyatso's words about letting go. Sokka and the chief share the conversation of how yue was so courageous and how they feel after her leaving them in this world . Pakku tells katara how she reminded him of their core values and she's a commendable warrior and a bender. After the ceremony ends aang tells katara and sokka how he feels he needs to move forward and be the avatar the world needs. Katara expresses happiness while sokka shows sarcasm and tells him he's hungry and offers them to join in for the food and katara taunts his need to eat everytime.
We cut to omashu being heavily damaged and fire nation soldiers walking in. We see a shot of bumi being captured and trapped into metal casings to prevent him from bending. A warrior with face masks walks up to him and removes it.. revealing it was azula who has invaded omashu.
Episode ends with the fire nation sages revealing to Ozai model have developed to predict sozin's comet and informs him that it's arriving soon.

2024.05.16 03:30 AlanGrant82 I think my Magnesium Malate, while helpful, has also caused me to lose interest in some things I enjoy doing. Can anyone relate to this at all?

I know that everyone responds differently to types of magnesium. Magnesium Lactate makes me super sleepy. Magnesium Chloride made it hard for me to sleep, funny enough. Glycinate caused me to feel a bit weird.
MALATE was what I found to be the gentlest on my stomach and I just felt good!
Well... as far as I could tell. However, I've realized something weird recently that has taken place over the last year. While the magnesium actually is very beneficial to me (I have to take it because I take Vitamin D, and magnesium in general improves my mood noticeably) I've noticed a downside of magnesium malate for me:
I'm not "down", but I've stopped feeling interest in several things that I always feel interest in and love doing (hobbies and job things) -- and that interest returns when I ease off of my Magnesium Malate within a matter of days. This realization was a big surprise to me, and I think I maybe need to find an alternative to Malate. I don't know if it's related to dopamine or what, but... yeah, it's a definite thing for me.
It sucks because I love Malate except for this, but I guess I'll be switching to something else.

2024.05.16 03:29 Top-Ad-1578 Gastritis after norovirus and c diff

Did anyone develop gastritis after norovirus? I recovered from c diff then was hit with norovirus. Had an upper endoscopy today and it showed gastritis. Doc didn’t script any meds just told me to follow a certain diet for a few and lower my stress.
Can gastritis go away with diet changes? I have only been able to do liquids from 5/3 to today. Slowly getting my appetite back and the pain is not as intense. During noro it felt like contractions in my stomach and I threw up constantly, especially in the morning.
I am taking florastor and eating dairy free yogurt.

2024.05.16 03:29 IcyTron I have a pretty cool story!

So for some context: I just got a new house about a month before and a hour prior I received a stomach bug.
So when my priest came over to bless my new house, I asked him to pray over me to relieve my pains, right when he finished all my pains went away!
Blessed be the lord I shall not want!

2024.05.16 03:28 New-Morning-1655 Prayers for my mom

It feels weird asking strangers to pray for me, but honestly I just need as much as we can get. My mom went in to the doctor’s a couple of days ago to get checked out for some stomach pain. They called her later that day to tell her to go to the hospital and get some scans done. Here we are a few days later and here’s what we know:
There is a blockage in her duodenum (the part that connects the stomach to the intestines). This blockage is most likely a tumomass of sorts. This is blocking food from moving to her stomach into the intestines. She feels extremely full all of the time, but is starving. Eating is hard and she has been put on to a liquid diet because of this.
The secondary issue is the finding of lesions on her liver. The doctor told her that it is not because of any alcohol consumption (she has an occasional glass of wine) and is not because of any specific cause.
Here is the plan of action… we have an endoscopy scheduled for next week, but the doctor called and said that she wants to get it ASAP so they’re are gonna try and fit her in sooner. This is good news since we are acting sooner, but sad because the doctor wants to start moving quicker.
Here is the prayer I am hoping for. Any prayer you find fitting, please pray! Specifically, protect the hands of the doctors, protect her body, and pray for a miracle. Right now, it is looking like stomach cancer with a spread to the liver. The reality that this is for our family is not looking too positive but I know our God is a good God.
If He wants to work a miracle, I am all for it. I trust His plan regardless. Please pray for peace, protection, and little moments of joy amidst the pain and heartache we are facing.
If anyone has any stories and advice to console and help, it would be more than welcomed. I know that the enemy tries to make us feel alone and I know sharing with community will help defeat that. I rebuke him and his disgusting ways.
Thank you all <3

2024.05.16 03:28 Effective_Net_8866 Adnexal Mass and Sciatica-Like Pain

Hi all, I am 35F, overweight, asian, I used to smoke a lot and have family history of cancer. I have been having a lot of symptoms the past months. Extreme fatigue in the afternoon I can barely talk sometimes, I'm just tired, severe pain during my period.
Last weekend, I had a severe sciatica pain during my period. Pain from right side of my buttocks down right side of my leg. I couldn’t walk for 3 days the pain was so intense. I used to have this similar pain but last weekend was the worst I had to go to ER but they sent me home with some pain medications.
3 months ago, I had my Transvaginal Ultrasound because of my irregular periods and period pain.
The result is: There is an indeterminate right adnexal lesion with prominent vascularity measuring 14 × 11 x 12 mm Haematoma or dermoid ovary. An ectopic pregnancy is thought to be unlikely. Correlation with beta hCG and gynaecological review is recommended.
For some personal and financial reasons I kept postponing my follow-up check up. I was also thinking its not serious because my OB Gyne’s clinic did not mark my followup appointment as urgent.
My question is, what does my ultrasound say? Is it possible that the lesion is malignant even if its small? Is this related to my symptoms? Thank you in advance. :)

2024.05.16 03:27 Main-Tune-2936 Does this look like a kidney stone?

Does this look like a kidney stone?
I had been having some extreme discomfort down there (LOL sorry idk). Pelvic pain, rectal pain and pressure and also discomfort every time after I pee. Not burning pain like a UTI, just uncomfortable- I don’t know how else to describe this unique pain I’ve never had before
I decided to take a look down there after a shower. So I set a hand mirror on the floor, squatted, spread it, and this little hard pebble came out. Luckily I had an OB appointment the next day and I told her and showed her a picture. She asked “did it come out of your vagina or urethra?” And I could not answer because I really don’t know…it just fell out of my vaginal area and was on the floor. She said “wow you just be a badass because this would take most people to their knees.” Yes it was ridiculously uncomfy but not the deadly kidney stone pain people describe! But I have no idea what else it could be. I saved it and of course forgot to bring it to my appointment to show her facepalm
