2024.05.15 23:03 theloserhaslost Tech help - restoring photos after reset

Evening all,
I am hoping that someone that has been in a similar situation or tech savvy will be able to help with a problem I've encountered.
The inner screen of my fold 4 has stopped working (booked in for repair). Anyway when I went through the Samsung troubleshooting and it suggested doing a factory reset. I naturally ensured that I had all important photos since I got the phone were backed up before doing so, then pushed ahead with the reset, even though I was confident it wouldn't work.
On setup it asked if I wanted to transfer from an old device...as much as I wanted to, I couldn't as that device stopped charging without gymnastics and is also misplaced.
Naively I assumed that because the photos transferred fine last time, they must be within my Google account somewhere and would do so again. Obviously they didn't!
I have managed to find a fair amount of the photos, but there is still a big chunk missing (October 2018 to June 2021). Even those I can find are no longer in albums and they don't go in chronological order...I.e. when I try transfer them over they show as most recent, instead of where they should.
Is there anything I can do, or have I well and truly fckd it? I guess I would have been in this position when the phone was reset for repair anyway so without hindsight there probably wasn't much I could do?
P.S. it also hasn't transferred apps back over, but I cam tolerate reinstalling those and sorting the folders again.

2024.05.15 22:44 pmangia Planning a re-read. Where should I start?

Hey all!
I have read the main books many, many times, but only recently became acquainted with the extras (the Belgarath, Polgara, and Rivan Codex books).
Where should I start to read the books in a roughly chronological order?

After lots of massages and a failed attempt at Minoxidil (it gave me those weird yellowish dandruff patches right where I applied it), it feels like the front has started to regrow (pics are in chronological order) just for another area to start vanishing
I'm not sure what to do, the spot is in the front too :') Has anyone ever succesfully grew their hair back?

2024.05.15 22:16 Alanox Collected Writings of Keeper Delenar Corwin

Foreword: My Lord Kellereth the Yellow,
This collection was found in the repository of a wild wizard who had succumbed to Chimerism. How they have remained intact for almost 600 years is beyond my understanding, but I have assembled them in what I believe is chronological order, as they are not dated. It is my hope that this account can bring you closer to your maker's guidance, or at least provide us more insight into the great tragedy that has befallen us all.
May Her Sun shine Eternal,
Edmund Fairwind, Sunscale Adherent
To my esteemed colleague, Courtmaster Verellion Trinare,
What can one say on the Lady of the Flowing Breeze that has not been attempted by hundreds of poets and minstrels? Her Grace is the wind at your back, the entrancing energy of a performance that threatens to sweep you up into it. Between her older brother Shurlosh and her younger sister Naralith, the so-called “Storm Siblings” have helped bring wondrous marvels to our world, including the great Sundial that adorns the central plaza of Confluence. My Lady Denam's pleasure at its creation was quite evident to me and my fellow Keepers, I assure. While I know the Archcleric already blessed it at the unveiling, please pass on my personal gratitude to the architect and his crew, as well as to They who made it possible. Bright days lay ahead, I am certain.
Sunlight bless your path,
Keeper of Denam, Lady of the Eternal Sun, Delenar Corwin
To my dear colleague, Seashaper Arclight,
I must firmly disagree with your assessment of your Lord Shurlosh's brothers. The stoicism characteristic of Lord Fanink, Lord Mardell, and Lord Chaklochuik is not “emblematic of their resistance to change” as you have put it, but an aspect of their resilience in the face of adversity. Without the Lord of the Ashen Warpath’s discipline, we would turn and flee at the first sign of danger; without the Lord of the Cavernous Depths’ diligence, we would shy from righteous toil and waste our time in slothful laxity; and without the Lord of the Unyielding Glacier's determination, we would surely wither under the strain and stress of hardship. Just as your Lord takes after his father, the great Primordial Iakor, in wishing to see great transformation and craft, so too do these three take after their mother, my great Primordial Lady Denam. Their stoicism is a virtue that we should aspire to emulate, not an “obstacle to progress” as you would have it be called. I strongly urge you to consult with my fellows among the Hearthkeepers, Artificiers, and Snowtreaders to gain a greater understanding of my Lady's sons and the value they provide Mortals.
Sunlight guide your steps,
Keeper of Denam, Lady of the Eternal Sun, Delenar Corwin
For the sun-blessed eyes of Meskaru the Orange,
I am grateful you have reached out to me on such a critical matter as to concern you and the Sunscale Order. I am appalled that the dunes are being encroached upon and destroyed by careless beachgoers, and in accordance with our Lady's will, seek to ameliorate the situation. Perhaps stationing one of your Sunscales there would be sufficient to convey the gravity of the issue? If that is too banal for one of your adherents, I may be able to set up a more permanent preserve in a few days. It is my hope that these options are to your liking.
Yours under Denam's watchful Sun,
Keeper Delenar Corwin
To my ever-charming peer, Radiant Meena Intevu,
Your display yesterday was truly breathtaking. Illusion or not, my heart has stirred like nothing else since I first truly understood Denam's light. Now I see yours, and that of your Lady Asuresi, and am moved beyond measure. I see now why the Lady of the Shimmering Dunes is known as the Golden Child of Denam. I implore, no, beg of you, to show me more such wonders as soon as you are able. Though perhaps a more private venue would be to our mutual benefit?
Yours in our Ladies’ Light,
Delenar Corwin
Something terrible has happened.
Last night, the Moon reached it's zenith, then stopped. It remained atop the firmament even as my Lady's Sun rose to warm the world, and it passed behind the Moon. At once, I heard Denam's voice clearer than any vision or dream, but it was no command, no guidance, no wisdom. It was a scream, a bloodcurdling cry. Then, silence. Denam's blessed Sun, giver of warmth, ordainer of law and justice... It is injured. Dying. The wound seeps divine blood, staining Her body as it now sinks towards the horizon. The Moon itself still remains in place, though I can no longer see His silvery light. It is as if it has been ripped from the sky. Now there is nothing but the wailing cries of terrified citizens and the dreadful mourning of dragons from the mountain. My Lady Denam, I cannot hear you, but if you can still hear me, please, return to us. Now, more than ever, we need your warmth and comfort, your guidance and order. Please. You are Eternal. You can't be gone.
For the Archcleric Renvar Goldawn,
I regret to inform you that the Temple of Iakor has been burned before I could obtain any useful documents. I could find no trace of the Shifters, and there are no records of them leaving the island. It is as if they have disappeared along with their master Iakor. The situation in Confluence continues to deteriorate, and without our Lady's miracles, the Keepers cannot restore order alone. Factionalism is rising, and several gangs have arisen to exploit the vulnerable and protect themselves. The Sunscales have deployed en masse to try and enforce order, but their numbers are insufficient to police the entire city, and the Prismatic Dragons remain mourning, inconsolable at the loss of our Lady. “The Eclipse”, I hear it called now. If you have any news of hope or contact from the Primordials, I beseech you to bring it to the city, else I fear I may have to join the ships of refugees fleeing across the Sea of Gods.
Denam preserve us,
Keeper Delenar Corwin
To my most gracious colleague, Radiant Meena Intevu,
I am filled with gratitude and melancholy at your offer of asylum. I fear that we may never hear Lady Denam's light or feel Her warmth again. Thus, if Lady Asuresi is willing to share her light with me, then it is only wise to accept. It is what She would have wanted. Please, await my arrival at your ship tomorrow. I will join your conclave in the southeast upon our arrival there.
Ever in Asuresi’s light,
Delenar Corwin

2024.05.15 22:09 lefthandconcerto My Review of The Pinhoe Egg (Spoilers Within!)

About six months ago, in November, I started my journey through the "Chronicles of Chrestomanci," which of course are not really a series as much as a collection of books which all take place in the same set of universes. I read everything in order of publication, posting my thoughts here each time, and with the completion of this book I am now all the way through these wonderful novels. Please forgive my lack of direct quotes this time--having read nothing else for fun besides these books for six months, I found my note-taking capacity to be somewhat diminished. Maybe in the future I'll write a more detailed review.
The Pinhoe Egg is the final Chrestomanci book, whether you're reading them in order of publication or chronologically. I have no doubt Diana Wynne Jones did not intend this to be a "series" with a beginning and end; rather, I assume she simply got several book ideas that took place in this world, and this happened to be the last time before she died. It is sheer luck, then, that this last book is a sort of grand culmination of them both thematically and narratively, and possibly the best of the lot.
We start, typically, with a new protagonist, Marianne Pinhoe, and a new locale, the small rural village of Ulverscote, located a stone's throw from Chrestomanci Castle and Helm St. Mary. I liked that we got a little more background about this area throughout the book. When I go back to reread Charmed Life, I'm looking forward to putting it all into this new context.
Marianne became a favorite character almost instantly, and I was hooked on her storyline right from the beginning. Jones has a typically virtuosic opening sequence, wasting no time in establishing the key characters and launching into a dreadfully funny episode telling of Marianne's grandmother (who is also a kind of matriarch or "Gammer" over all the Pinhoes) apparently abruptly developing dementia and being forcibly removed from her home. There is black comedy galore here, all painfully adjacent to the real experience of making arrangements for a feeble or senile parent, as when Gammer is so averse to leaving her home that she roots herself in the bed, complete with actual roots. Meanwhile, Gammer's brothers and many children squabble over who gets to live in her house and where her belongings will go.
I mentioned before how Jones is always surprising me with the variety of formal structures and writing styles she employs. I thought I had figured out her game here, and was sure it was going to be similar to Conrad's Fate, where a new protagonist gradually makes their way into meeting familiar characters. But of course, Jones neatly sidesteps all reader expectation and switches tracks suddenly a few chapters in, focusing on Cat Chant as a second, equal protagonist, and revealing this book to be, among other things, the true sequel to Charmed Life--published 29 real-life years later. Jones then begins alternating between Cat and Marianne unevenly, and sometimes even from sentence to sentence, as in Witch Week. Her sleight of hand is sly and clever, and the craftsmanship is remarkable. Hats off--each of the seven books in this series reads totally differently. Jack of all trades, master of all, our Diana.
Jones stacks on the themes this time. We of course get some of her usual preoccupations, particularly with that of unreliable families. The Pinhoes may be the worst of the lot, or at least the most upsetting, because while in most of the other books the dysfunction is obvious, things are more insidious here. The reader is actually led (through Marianne's obedient, rule-following perspective) to see Harry, Cecily, Gammer, and most of the uncles and aunts as well-meaning individuals who care for one another. However, as in Charmed Life (and Cat himself draws the comparison), as the book goes on and Marianne becomes more independent, it becomes increasingly difficult for her, and for us, to justify their cruel behavior. It is genuinely devastating when Marianne figures out what's going on halfway through the book, decides to approach the adults in her life about it, and is laughed off or outright punished by all of them. There is a familiar scene at the end of the book: Marianne's and Joe's talents are vindicated by Chrestomanci and they are given the opportunity to nurture their skills in an education apart from parents who hold them back by refusing to understand or accept them. Replace the current Chrestomanci with the previous acting Chrestomanci, Gabriel de Witt, and you have the same scene as the end of Conrad's Fate. The detail that Marianne and Joe still go home and see their parents regularly is brutally realistic, Marianne able to convince her mother to soften on some issues, but ultimately failing to truly connect with her father. This seems to me the ultimate conclusion of the obsession with family dynamics in the Chronicles of Chrestomanci--that your family will always be there, like them or not, whether or not a true understanding can ever be reached. I'm not ashamed to say I cried through the last couple chapters of the book, and found the first line Jones has written that made me audibly sob. This was a feeling from childhood I didn't even know I had forgotten:
[Marianne] was depressed and worried. Dad was never going to understand and never going to forgive her. And Gaffer had still not turned up. On top of that, school started on Monday week. Though look on the bright side, she thought. It'll keep me away from my family, during the daytime at least.
As in Conrad's Fate, the potential toxicity of religion crops up here, in a bigger way than ever. The last act of the book is barely disguised by its magical trappings: what we have here is a group of devout, religious conservatives, being shown the harmful effects of their actions, and blindly rejecting all of the proof and logic in front of them in favor of enforcing rules and laws that keep them comfortable. There is no doubt that the next generation of Pinhoes will be just as subject to the old traditions, in spite of Marianne and Joe breaking free. That the Reverend Pinhoe is portrayed as a hapless and kind man, ignorant to most of the wrongdoing in the village, does little to soften the point of Jones's pencil here. As I said, I was startled by how moved and devastated I was by this final section, recognizing all of the real-world pain in this fantastical setting.
Jones has always been steadfastly protective of those who cannot speak up for themselves, as with the character of Cat who finds it difficult to recognize and verbalize his feelings. This time, borrowing from a kind of Shinto animism, Jones includes the concept of Dwimmer, a magic that is focused on the life force within all creatures and plants. There is no debate where Jones stands on this--her deepest and most profound sympathies lie with Cat, who can't bear to imagine his horse Syracuse chopped into dog meat, who frets over Klartch's wellbeing when out of his sight, and who firmly refuses to apologize for releasing all the goblinlike fairy folk from their bindings. There is no direct intimation of endangered species, global warming, or human-caused environmental destruction in this book, as you might expect in this kind of setup (I suspect Jones was too clever to resort to trite metaphors). However, in a fascinating twist, a plot detail revolves around the Pinhoes and Farleighs erecting a barrier in the forest to contain the magical creatures, making the forest feel empty and incomplete in the process--a magical, but also literal, instance of deforestation. Motives of plants, herbs, and trees, both good and evil, carry through the book as well. Jason and Gaffer Elijah Pinhoe, as well as Cecily, are handy with plants and tend large gardens. The Farleighs' and Pinhoes' spells tend to take the form of small bags of weeds and branches as well. Interestingly, and insightfully, the natural world is portrayed as difficult as well: Gammer grows roots to impede her family's mission, and the vile Gaffer Farleigh morphs into a stubborn, gnarled, immovable petrified oak when Cat works a spell forcing him to assume his true form.
This was one of the most enjoyable books in the Chrestomanci series, and it was bittersweet to close the door on the Pinhoes. I like that the continuity between these books is vague and tenuous, so I'm free to imagine all sort of side goings-on, like what might happen to Marianne and Cat later in life, or whether Conrad and Christopher remained friends, or what Roger and Julia thought when their dad told them all about the events at the academy in Witch Week. Howl's Moving Castle is still the book closest to my heart, and will forever be the Diana Wynne Jones I read over and over, recommending to anyone unfortunate enough to strike up a conversation about books with me, but I am so glad that I found the time to welcome Chrestomanci and all his strange acquaintances into my heart, too.
Here's my personal ranking of the Chronicles of Chrestomanci, but please note I love all of these books and a low ranking does not mean I don't like the book. I have to put that there because there's always someone who doesn't understand that last place doesn't mean bad or worst. I'm not including the short stories individually because it's impossible for me to weigh a short story against a novel, whereas a large collection seems to make sense to me. I also must admit that the top three, especially the top two, were really difficult to place and I more or less love them equally.
  1. Conrad's Fate
  2. The Pinhoe Egg
  3. Charmed Life
  4. Mixed Magics
  5. The Magicians of Caprona
  6. Witch Week
  7. The Lives of Christopher Chant
My next Jones book will be -- drumroll, please -- Archer's Goon, though I'm taking a break for some adult reading during the summer. While I'm in a school semester I can pretty much only manage to read children's fantasy, so I'll see you all come August or September. :) Thanks to those of you who have been reading and following my journey from start to finish. I would love to chat more about this book and this series.
Oh, and finally... ALL SPOILERS ALLOWED!

2024.05.15 21:18 Cute_Humming_Giraffe [NY] Apt complex of 5, have had roaches and bedbugs for 2.5 years, landlord has done the bare minimum to take care of it. Is it worth suing my landlord, or are there better options?

Hi, I'm wondering if it would be worth to sue my landlord, and if so, whether I should get an attorney or go to small claims and represent myself. And yes, I am looking to move out. The rent I pay is unfortunately very competitive, so it's difficult.
Some (lengthy) background:
Over 2.5 years, several issues regarding pest infestation have occurred, in mostly chronological order: · Landlord failed to disclose previous and existing bedbug and roach infestation of apartment complex before signing lease · Landlord falsely claimed they send pest control at the end of every month · When finally sending pest control at my request, landlord failed to use pest control services in the worst-infested apartment, claiming the tenants "wouldn't let him come in"—this resulted in no change to the pest population · Reported infestation as still existing, landlord agreed to send pest control again to my apartment only, even after telling him this would not solve the issue—landlord failed to show up with pest control on scheduled day that I took off work and rearranged entire house for · Problem tenants with heaviest infestation were evicted, LL claimed to have pest control up there, but did not spray other apartments, causing their infestation to migrate to all other apartments. Additionally, skeptical, I called his pest control company to confirm the date he arranged with them, only to confirm with the receptionist he had not made any appointments with them in months. · Upon noticing heavier infestation in my house and lack of response to the issue as a whole, I bought my own household products to ward off roaches. It worked, but I noticed hundreds living in the back of my refrigerator, and asked landlord to dispose of it. Landlord at first claimed the fridge was the previous tenant's, implying it was not his responsibility. He agreed to replace my fridge, but what I received was a rusted, dirty, 20+-year-old fridge from someone's basement that had no insulation or back cover. · Roaches were seemingly eradicated (at least in my apartment); this was after a period of 2 years. However, this is mostly due to my diligence keeping up with my own apartment. Others are still infested, and mine could be reinfested at any point. · A few months ago, a new tenant moved in, and I overheard him and other tenant talking about bedbug infestation on his moving in—this was not reported by landlord to me as a tenant (and seemingly not to anyone else). Had to text landlord to ask for pest control. To my knowledge, he then did not have all apartments sprayed, only those that reported seeing bedbugs. · Within past few months, have reported seeing bedbugs to him three times; sent pest control twice. This third time, I complained that he needs to spray all apartments, as I will not let him deal with this the way he dealt with the roaches. Landlord then claimed pest control was a "courtesy" because he "did not bring them in" and the least stated he was "not responsible" despite the lease making no mention of this. Informed him of warranty of habitability laws and that I would seek legal options.
Additionally, several other minor issues as a pattern of negligence, in no particular order: · upon moving in, left entire apartment dirty and filled with garbage, including torn up couch filled with bugs (the latter was found out much later); did pay $100 for me to clean it up, but was the first in the pattern of negligence · failed to fix ceiling leak coming from upstairs tenant running unapproved washing machine · failed to repair holes and cracks in walls that were left by previous tenant, including two holes accidentally caused by myself that LL assured he would take care of · several issues with heat throughout 2.5 years that LL continues to try to fix himself, despite the fixes being temporary (some periods of 2-3 days of 63 degrees in house during the winter) · LL took several weeks to finish installing new outside door; to this day has not put insulation in the door · took 1.5 months to replace bathroom sink leaking into wall causing mold growth; still has not eliminated mold in wall, long-term results unknown · Replaced water line on sidewalk beside apartment exit, placed flimsy wooden board over it to avoid accidents, did not finish job for over a month · when requesting infested fridge to be removed, took several days, and sent two unknown men to retrieve it at 8pm without notice · requested removal of infested, beat-up couch left by previous tenant, never retrieved it; got tired of repeatedly asking him to do the same thing with no response · Regularly schedules a time to show up for repairs or other house related things and does not show up · Overall lack of response or communication in any matter, often will not hear back from LL about an issue and have to pester him for a response; does not answer or return phone calls 90% of the time · etc.
My goal is to seek some sort of repayment for the burdens experienced living here due to landlord's negligence. Most especially in his lack of adequate response and even outright lack of disclosure and dishonesty in handling pest infestation. I have attempted to sway him to change and be more responsive and have tried my best to be patient and work with him, always notifying him of issues as they arise and hoping he'll handle them. I feel that I am owed compensation by him for the nightmare of living here, and am not comfortable with or trusting of him to seek compensation directly from him.

2024.05.15 20:22 Waste-Ad33 I got 95% in boards, and full in Pol. I am sharing the pattern and strategy that helped me in prepping for my subjects(Eng/Pol/socio/Econ/Legal). Y’all can dm me for notes as well.

Hello class 12 humanities students! I just received my class 12 results, and am sharing my study pattern, tips and tricks, and guide to score 90+ in your domains. (Eng/Pol/socio/Econ/Legal) Jitna jaldi shuru karoge, it’s better. Believe me!
For context, my aggregate scores were 95% I have a full in polsci as well!
I’ll go subject wise. Lmk if y’all need any other help!
Anyone who wants extra question papers, or material, can dm me :)
SOME COMMON POINTS
-> Questions get repeated more often than u notice in humanities. The answers expected from u oscillate around a select few topics. They alter the wording and present the questions.
-> NEVER FOLLOW GUIDEBOOKS BLINDLY. They have multiple discrepancies, and can misguide you
-> KV notes (especially the ones by Ranchi and Chandigarh), Edudel, and jawahar navodya vidyalaya notes are top notch. Do refer to them.
-> NCERT is your holy grail, even for economics. Read it very very well.
-> 5-6 markers ke lie always make mind maps after your answersin your core subjects.
-> Never write para style for theory subjects. Make crisp and clear points acc to the marks of the question.
-> Language mein para answers always.
-> questions at the end of the chapters are v important. Never miss them.
-> you should practice papers in real test like conditions to ensure getting used to the pattern and the environment.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
::English::
Never, I repeat, never take English lightly. My marks were cut in English purely because I made the mistake of taking lit. section, especially Vistas lightly.
The best way to study English Lit. is to make short notes of each chapter, and they should have: - Keywords, poetic devices
 - Theme - Character Sketches (keypoints) - A self prepared outline of the story/poem. This should have some important lines from the text that u quote, and some quotes from outside that are related to the main idea of the story/poem. U can also prepare model answers.
-> REVISE THESE NOTES ON A REGULAR BASIS.
-> Remake and re-remake them on rough sheets before exams. This helps retain more.
Clarify the updated writing section formats with your teachers before your mid-terms. Try making model answers for each chapter. For reading comp., I believe understanding the format of the current year is what u need.

This subject is very interesting! 12th pol is fun and easy.
****start with world pol
-> For end of bipolarity, read Cold War era first. It creates a good base, plus helps u a lot if you’re prepping for cuet! -> mind maps!!!! Always make mind maps. It helps a lot. -> globalisation, environment, security ko lightly mat lena. Very scoring but can also drop your marks if you don’t prep them well.
**** indian pol
-> chronological order mein jaana here is better. Maybe club chapter 2 and 5. -> indian pol is much easier. Make detailed notes for indian pol.
NEVER TRUST POL GUIDE BOOKS!

::Economics::
Economics mein IED is very simple, but macro (esp numericals) can baffle you.
  1. IED
-> Trust NCERT blindly for sure, but sandeep Garg notes are good for memorising points wise. -> Make short notes.
  2. Macro
-> Sandeep Garg se numericals karna is much simpler. Formulas are crisp, and they have plenty of additional questions at the back. -> I’d say it’s better to do theory from NCERT. -> theory ke short notes banao, point wise. -> for numericals, practice them regularly, especially if you suck at mathematical things.

Possibly the most unpredictable subject of humanities, that is open to a plethora of interpretations. You need a lot of time to understand the pattern, as well as the textbook. It is very text heavy, with a lot of terms and articles and sections.
I can’t emphasise enough on the importance of being thorough with NCERT.
Make detailed notes, and reread them on regular intervals. Arihant is a good reference book (possibly the only one out there), but that too has errors. There is legit no good yt channel for legal.
TOP RESOURCES:
PYQs: read the answer keys very very well. It helps a lot, trust me. ( last 8 years) Arihant: but always cross check the answers from pyqs and the book. Notes are good.
**** I can share notes if y’all want as well. ****
A chapter-wise guide of sorts (cuz legal ka material nahi hai zyada)
Judiciary: A long and exhausting chapter. For preserving your own sanity, divide it into three parts: -> Page 3-14
-> Page 15-21 (right before judicial review) -> Page 22- 26 (I advise reading supplementary material as well. It helps understand the cases better + is good for case based questions)
*do them separately, otw pagal ho jaoge)*
ADR: seems long, but is a rather simple and straight forward chapter. -> make a comparative table of Arbitration, mediation and conciliation, along with mind maps of each topic.
4 business laws: very simple and scoring. 20 marks guaranteed if you do them well. -> understand the cases given very well. They are always used for the case based questions. Any topics that mention steps of any sort, or a doctrine are vv important.
-> mind maps ; differentiation tables are vv important here.
Law and sdg: simple hai boht. ->Just read the book and make basic notes.
Legal Entities: again, v simple. -> make a table for diff b/w ops and sole proprietorship ; public and pvt company ; partnership and lap.
Criminal Law -> objectives of cl is v imp.
-> ipc, cps and iea ache se clearly samjho. There should be no confusion, nahi to phase jaoge. -> confession v/s admission is imp. -> cases ache se samjho pls
Human Rights: v difficult to remember. If you can rote learn, then nothing like it. Many case questions from here as well. ->best bet: sticky notes pe pointers banao and stick them above your table. Roz thoda padho.
 -> some things I found v imp: article 14 (equality principle) ; article 19 (reasonable restrictions) ; Article 20 (section 377 chronology) ; Article 21A - DPSP to fundamental right ; arrest v/s detention ; DPSP ( 5 features, 5 dpsps) ; Fundamental duties (5)
Quasi judicial bodies: v simple -> functions and features pata hona chahiye
Intl Law Divide into 2 parts and do separately:
-> Page 163- 172 (right above intl human rights) -> page 172 ( intl human rights) to 178
Legal Professions Again, divide into 2 parts:
-> page 183-189 ( legal ed in india) -> pages 189 ( usa) to 193. (This is a lot to retain thus I recommend doing this alag se)
Legal Services: Simple hai sabse zyada!

::English::

::Political Science::
*maps and cartoons are important. Maps of Indian pol and cartoons of both. Mere paas pdfs hai of all the cartoons and maps if y’all need em*

2.Human at Ease. Poorva ma’am’s classes are the best for sure!!
  1. Notes banao, ya phir make questions out of each topic and create answers and use as notes, or do both.
  2. PYQS (last 13 years)
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
::Economics::

2024.05.15 20:18 Anonturmoil Late to the game

(long ADHD ramble) So I'm extremely new to this franchise. I have literally never touched a 2d Metroid game until about a week ago, the only experiences I have with Samus are Metroid prime when I was like 9 and ofcourse every smash brothers game, always thought she was cool being a badass bounty hunter and all(which I've recently learned she apparently wasn't one this whole time???) but 2d dark souls isn't usually my kind of game. I prefer open world games that let me do whatever I want, hopefully with a good plot to tango along with and fighting games. Don't get me wrong, I grew up playing 2d sidescrollers and some of my favorite games ever are still all the classic sonic games but games that make me want to bite my lip off from falling to find the solution to an area puzzle after 2 hours only to discover I had to blow up one random spot or dying from the 50 something enemies that bounce you onto the one goddamn spot that has lava on it? Not usually my cup of tea. I've been a mostly PlayStation shill(still am) all my life and occasionally play Nintendo games like Pokemon, legend of Zelda and Kirby lmao Metroid though just wasn't on my radar. Recently I've had to sell consoles and stuff and I moved so I didn't really have any of my old videogames, decided to download some emulators and alot of old games I never really got to experience or haven't played in forever and my brother recommended I tried Metroid, I basically went "fuck it why not" two weeks later, I've beaten Metroid zero mission, have all the subsequent 2d Metroid games downloaded expect for dread obviously and can literally not stop playing them. God do these games raise my blood pressure and I spend a good 50 minutes cussing out each and every boss(seriously fuck you mother brain and your shitty homing plasma and dumbass placed lava) but I fucking LOVE them. I love the atmosphere and the way the world builds it's violent isolation as you go on, I love how stronger and more capable I become as Samus the more I venture forward. I love the music, the sound affects. Nothing is crispier to me than a perfectly accidentally timed charge beam blowing away some bug flying at you 60mph. Metroid zero mission was about the most frustrating game I've played in probably years and I loved every second of it. I've tested and played a little of all the others but I'm forcing myself to go in chronological order so Samus returns is the one I'm playing now and yes, it's am2r although I recently got the 3ds one too, leaving that for last though because I feel like I'll be really satisfied playing through all the sprite games first and then landing on that Metroid dread prototype hd. Either way, I'm just bummed I missed out on this series growing up although part of me feels like if I was any younger, I would've broken my Gameboy or ds trying to play through these damn games LMFAO I always thought Mario 64 and ocarina of time were the biggest pain in the ass Nintendo games and I still to this day absolutely hate Mario 64( I know I just suck at it don't worry) but as I got older I finally learned that I really just have to have some patience and explore for clues in these kinds of games so I think my frontal lobe finally developed enough for me to play Metroid properly. Samus is now one of my favorite characters in a game, I know she doesn't talk much and when she does it's uh "motherly" questionable but man, she's fucking cool as hell. It's like if Boba Fett actually lived up to his costume when he first showed up and not like through extended media. Anyways that's it, if anyone's got any advice on how to maybe smooth my experience that also would be nice lmao

2024.05.15 19:17 acusumano Getting into Survivor? Here's the only acceptable watch order

A lot of new fans are curious as to which order they should start watching the show, because they want to watch the best seasons and avoid spoilers. While watching from the beginning and making up your own mind would make sense in theory, true fans know that a complicated, nonsensical approach is the only way to really enjoy the show. As a fan who has been watching since the first season aired in 2000, it's unfortunate that I had no choice but to watch chronologically in real time. If I were fortunate enough to get struck with a blow to the head so hard that I lose my memory, this is the order in which I would watch Survivor:
  1. Nicaragua (21) - You have to start with an HD season.
  2. Heroes vs. Villains (20) - You've earned it.
  3. Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers (35) - This way you can weigh in on the eternal fan debate of which Heroes tribe is more iconic, the one with Rupert and Cirie or the one with Katrina and JP.
  4. Cagayan (28) - A lot of people think that Joe from HvHvH is the store brand version of Tony, but by watching in the correct order, you will see that Tony is in fact a retread of Joe.
  5. South Pacific (23) - If you thought Coach was entertaining in HvV, you'll love seeing him here. If you thought Ozzy was entertaining in Cook Islands, then you have failed to follow the proper watch order. May God have mercy on your soul.
  6. Winners at War (40) - It would be foolish to spoil the winners of 21 other seasons before you've seen them. By waiting to watch WaW 6th, you will only spoil the winners of 17 other seasons.
  7. Ghost Island (36) - This season references a lot of memorable mistakes made by Survivor players. Watching Ghost Island means those moments won't catch you off guard when you eventually see them.
  8. Caramoan (26) - This season includes Erik, who you'll recognize as one of the most prominent people featured in Ghost Island.
  9. Micronesia (16) - It's time to see how Erik's mistake really went down. You've earned it.
  10. Blood vs. Water (27) - See Colton quit for the second time.
  11. Millennials vs. Gen X (33) - If you like David, don't worry, he comes back.
  12. David vs. Goliath (37) - Surprisingly not in this season though.
  13. All-Stars (8) - I was so hyped to watch this as the 8th season in 2004. I can only imagine how exciting it would be to watch it as the 13th season in 2024 having not seen any of the seasons that came before it. Don't make the same mistake I did.
  14. Fiji (14) - This is the only season that aired in the exact position it's meant to be watched. An amazing coincidence.
  15. One World (24) - See Colton......get medevaced???? Twist!!
  16. Guatemala (11) - #16. Why not?
  17. Palau (10) - In theory, Guatemala is a follow-up season to Palau, and the story makes a lot more sense when you know that Stephenie was really popular the first time she played. But she's a lot easier to root for in Palau so emotionally it's more satisfying to watch it after.
  18. Edge of Extinction (38) - This is when David comes back. Your patience has paid off. There are three other returning players here who you haven't seen yet, but let me reiterate: this is the correct order. I'm not going to apologize for it.
  19. Game Changers (34) - There are 20 returning players here, and you've seen 13 of them already. This season will offer concrete evidence that the other 7 are game-changing players in their earlier seasons. Players like Hali, Sierra, and Caleb may not seem very impactful when you get around to watching their first seasons, so watching Game Changers keeps you from making the incorrect assumption that they are not in fact among the most important players in Survivor history.
  20. Cook Islands (13) - Candice is......not really a hero? The twists keep coming!!!
  21. Samoa (19) - Knock knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana who? Knock knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana who? Knock knock. Who's there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad that this racist Ben guy wasn't on Cook Islands? That would have been a disaster!
  22. Thailand (5) - You've earned it.
  23. Vanuatu (9) - Ok, you didn't hear this from me, but you can actually swap this season with the next one and it'll be totally fine.
  24. Marquesas (4) - Shhhh.
  25. 44
  26. 41
  27. 42
  28. 43 - These last four seasons are all pretty much the same.
  29. 45 - This is pretty much the same as the last four seasons except the episodes are longer.
  30. Africa (3) - This is pretty much the same as the last five seasons, except it's not filmed in Fiji, it's 39 days long, there are no hidden immunity idols or advantages, there are two tribes, it doesn't have firemaking, there's a final 2, and the contestants don't always get along. Other than that, you won't notice much of a difference.
  31. Redemption Island (22) - When this season aired, we had watched fan favorite Boston Rob lose three times, so seeing him win was a long time coming. By watching in the proper order, you've had the privilege of seeing him lose four times, so his win is 5% more impactful.
  32. Tocantins (18) - It's an HD season with a pretty strong cast and relatively straightforward gameplay that a new viewer could easily follow. You'd think it would be a lot higher up on the watch order. You're wrong.
  33. Borneo (1) - Yes, historically, it's important blah blah blah. But honestly, after you've seen 32 seasons where alliances are a normal part of the game, this season's going to seem really elementary and slow-paced. Don't blame me, blame the watch order.
  34. Panama (12) - You've probably been wondering all this time how a popular player like Cirie didn't make the cut for Winners at War. Now it's time to finally put your uncertainty to rest: it's because she didn't win any of her previous seasons, including this one. Isn't it so much more rewarding to find out this way?
  35. Philippines (25) - I think by now you should have a pretty good sense of whether you like the show or not. You can stop after this one if it's not your thing.
  36. Outback (2) - In 2001, we watched this season and thought Jerri was the villain, not Colby. Thankfully, a 2024 viewer will realize otherwise. The fact that every other cast member besides Amber found Jerri irritating and difficult to live with? That's irrelevant. Did you see Colby throw that bucket of water at her?
  37. Island of the Idols (39) - Half the season is just text on a screen. "The producers are monitoring the situation," "something happened off-camera," etc. I watch TV so I don't have to read. That makes this season pretty hard to follow for me, so I don't know much about what happens in it. Otherwise it would probably be a lot higher, I'm sure it's pretty popular.
  38. Kaoh Rong (32) - Look, we all know the real reason why anyone wants to start watching Survivor. You wanna see somebody die. This is the closest you're gonna get, sorry to say.
  39. Cambodia (31) - Despite airing first, this was filmed after Kaoh Rong, so it only makes sense to watch them in filming order.
  40. China (15) - If you finish this season and wonder, "Why did that have to be the 40th season in the watch order?" watch it again before you move onto the next one. Trust me on that, it will not make sense otherwise.
  41. China (15) -You know what, I'm just going to assume you'll need to watch it again.
  42. Worlds Apart (30) - This one defin--
  43. China (15) - Yep, you got two episodes into Worlds Apart and you have no idea what the fuck is going on. Watch China again.
  44. Worlds Apart (30) - This one definitely do--
  45. China (15) - Are you fucking serious? Can you get more than six episodes into Worlds Apart without needing China to explain everything to you again?
  46. Worlds Apart (30) - Alright, now do you see what I mean? You got through it. Proud of you.
  47. 46 - It's currently airing and almost finished, so you have about a week to get through all the previous seasons if you want to be caught up.
  48. Pearl Islands (7) - Chronologically, this is the first season in which voted-out players return to the game. In the proper watch order, it's the last one. Sometimes I think about that in the shower.
  49. Gabon (17) - Is this 46 2.0?
  50. San Juan del Sur (29) - You've earned it.
  51. The Amazon (6) - This is one of the most exciting and unpredictable seasons of all time. It's absolutely fantastic. However, Rob makes a lot of comments that haven't aged well, so it is at the bottom of the list.

2024.05.15 18:50 circusrunaway666 Where to start with the Alien franchise???

So I've wanted to get into the Alien series for a bit, but noticed that theres like 3 different Alien "series" listed in Audible. Theres "Alien™: The Novelizations", "Alien Trilogy: Novelizations", just "Alien". Its kind of confusing. Is there a definitive chronological order to read them in?

Right now I have to dig through their site to find newly released articles. If they aren't "important" enough they don't even bump older articles listed. Even the "latest" tab is not sorted by time nor does it have all the articles.

2024.05.15 16:36 Angetheprepas CASPA question.

So basically this a follow-up from my previous post but I called CASPA today to find out if something was wrong with my application because I heard from someone that sometimes there’s a glitch and that’s why they don’t verify you yet. I called and asked them what was going on and they said “oh it’s just an overwhelming amount of applications and we’re swamped” and I was like ok…. But is it at least in chronological order? “No it’s at random, someone can submit today and get verified before you” and I was like “okay… but on my application does it at least tell the schools when I submitted?” They told me that the schools already have your application and they can see everything but they can’t see your gpa. I was under the impression that CASPA doesn’t send anything out until everything is verified. Has anyone ever gotten a response from a school without being verified?

Inspired by this sub, as a non-hardcore fan I'm going in with an album-a-weekday journey through their studio albums. I make it 18 albums (?) so looking at nearly 4 weeks of Priest. Plan is to give each album a couple of spins on each day. Going strictly in chronological order.
I've long been a fan of "Sad Wings of Destiny" but never explored much further. On recommendations here I've recently dipped in to their more NWOBHM era albums and I like. I like a lot. So here I go.

2024.05.15 15:21 BeagleButler Driven to distraction by coworker

I'm a teacher. It's May so I'm probably more frazzled than usual, but I have a major coworker problem that is impacting my mental health and I can't get it fixed. This morning I got into work about 20 minutes before I needed to in order to update my computer, drink coffee, and get ready for my day in peace. I left the lights off in my classroom and kept the door locked to keep people out. Within 15 seconds of turning on my light and opening my door my most frustrating coworker is in my classroom asking "how I'm doing" and other inane questions including "how did you connected a keyboard to your computer?"
The coworker seeks me out upwards of 15 times a day. We don't teach the same subject or even in the same department. She ignores signs that say "busy" or locked doors a lot of times. I've been to HR and admin, but she constantly needs something from me and it's ruining my focus on my job. They have talked to her. It helps for a very short period of time (a couple of days). She will come in while I'm actively teaching to ask a question. I feel like I'm losing my mind because I'm disrupted in my planning, I'm disrupted in my teaching, and I'm disrupted in existing. I teach AP courses in history so there is a lot of detail and chronology. Getting my train of thought broken because someone wants to know if I know how to unjam the copier is sending me yall.
Last year I screamed like a lunatic for her to get out of room and stay out. It lasted maybe 48 hours. She unlocks doors, she ignores headphones, she doesn't care if I'm teaching, and she won't email her questions because they will just take a minute.
I'm an introvert who is currently unmediated. I'm in my 40s. I've been teaching for over 15 years so I'm not new to this job. I've just never dealt with someone who ignores social cues, who ignore boundaries, and is generally so resistant to the word no. Help!

I've been having several issues reading comics or manga on my Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 10th generation.
I'll go through them in chronological order. First, the USB mode doesn't work. I've tried different cables, different computers, restarted the Kindle, and even did a full factory reset, but the USB mode still won't work.
So, I decided to transfer the comics directly to my library using "Send to Kindle". I converted them to EPUB, and they were sent successfully. However, now the problem is that the download gets abruptly interrupted on its own. I tested with other EPUB files, and the same thing happens – it gets past 80%, or sometimes even before that, and then the download cancels.
I'm thinking about giving up on reading on this device or buying a newer Kindle, but I'm worried it might have the same issues. I'll leave a video on Google Drive as an example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1y_X8srMehERI47VMLdZFormqUXqyzIrU/view?usp=sharing
