Brads cut plugs, spinfish or minis in the Mexican hat color pattern are AMAZING
Last season was all about gold and bronze for us. This pattern was one of the most productive in the last 2 seasons! We squirt garlic bloody tuna into a can of tuna(in water with all the water dumped out) mix it up really well and then pack it into these lures. We are fishing stocked(with small fish so they grow up eating and acting like wild) fish. Where I live we are allowed multiple hooks and bait to fish these stocked lakes. I tie up 2 hook leaders, one no2 Gamakatsu main hook and a no4 stinge trailing hook. Sometimes I even put a couple of Berkley maggots on the hooks for good measure but these lures SLAY trolling.

G'day guys, I'm just after some advice on a budget Southern Bluefin tuna set up with a short rod as I'll be trolling from a sailboat.

2024.05.05 21:19 Quirky-blurky The last place I was before I was here.

The last place I was before I was here.
On a dark chilly rainy night three weeks ago, Mr. Quirky Blurky stalked Vancouver's seawall in search of a place to lay his head. Comforted by the fact he would be wet and cold throughout the night he pressed on knowing he was tougher than the cold. Eventually stumbling on an old camp under a bridge. No sign of tolls nor trolls he prepared his gear for the long cold morning he was about to experience.
Upon waking up to the south western view of the great Vancouver skyline he pooped and ate some tuna, packed up and forged on. To this day there's still a can in the bushes from that night. Off to the bus he went filming a trek through the notorious yet familiar DTES before reaching his destination at Pacific union station on main street. Till the next adventure Quirky Blurky out.....mic drop.

Help Identify Lure
Trying to find this lure/trolling device. Found on RoKKiT KiT's YouTube channel: "Braving CRAZY ROUGH OCEAN For Championship Winning Tuna." I wanted to know where I might find these or similar type of device. It's a weighted head piece, with a lip, that looks like it'll make dead bait look like live.

2024.04.20 01:38 bflemingj Looking for recommendations in Fort Lauderdale.

I will be in lauderdale by the sea the last week of april-beginning of May. Iā€™m planning on booking a charter at some point during that week. My question is, what kind of fishing would you recommend? Doing some reading, it seems like about everything is great this time of year. I would rather not troll, I prefer to be a more active participant. But Iā€™d be open to it I suppose. For years Iā€™ve dreamed of doing flats fishing, and sight fishing for redfish/trout but Iā€™m really not sure if itā€™s the best area/time of year. Iā€™m also not overly concerned with catching lots of fish if it means I get to learn if that makes sense. I think Iā€™ve narrowed it down to a few options but if thereā€™s something else I havenā€™t considered please let me know:
Inshore-snook, tarpon, jack crevalle Everglades- big bass Offshore(maybe)- tuna, mahi
Thanks in advance!

2024.04.13 20:27 Technical_Fruit8706 New rod reel combo

Iā€™ve been surf fishing almost my whole life. The last year or 2 Iā€™ve gotten into shark fishing from the surf. While I have had lots of success, Iā€™ve also had some really big ones on the line break me off (I know they were big I saw them jumping) and one even broke my reel last year. I got a new penn reel last year and itā€™s very nice and works well. But with my new job I have some extra spending money and was looking into getting one of the really big reels like the ones people use deep sea for tuna and have seen videos of people landing sharks with them but no sure what they are called. What wondering if anyone has a brand they like or any recommendations. Could also use some fighting belt and line test weight recommendations as well. Currently have 30lb braid and 40lb braid on my reels. Thanks in advance for any advice

That is the kind of reel I am referring to.

2024.04.09 17:32 Terralius A Bonanza in Cabo during the Pandemic!

A Bonanza in Cabo during the Pandemic!
In 2020, I had to leave California to help my folks out during the pandemic in the Chicago suburbs. After a while the terror many people felt calmed down, my parents started going to the store themselves and so forth. I was sitting around and saw a video taken at the Cabo San Lucas Marina where a school of yellowfin tuna chased caballito into the slips. Tourism had ground to a virtual halt and with most of the boats in the harbor, giant pelagic fish were swimming into the god damn marina! I called around and learned charter companies were eager to take out guests because nobody was down there. I made a deal with the best charter operater where I got a major discount for rigging the boats with high quality camera gear and handing over the footage to the owner.
I went down in August and stayed for months. As always, I used the solunar calendar to book my trips There were days where I tagged a dozen striped marlin, caught limits of tuna, mahi, and other species like rooster fish and sharks. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity! I spent a LOT of money going out even with the discounts. The captains and crews were all so great and hard working and also were struggling so I ended up spending more than I would without the discount in tips.
My very favorite day of the most spectacular days of fishing one could hope for was the last charter day. I had never caught a pacific blue marlin (a lot of striped marlin but never a great blue or black). I've been deep sea fishing for 20 years and have gone out, in season, in the best spots, aggressively targeting the elusive great blue only to get skunked or catch some tuna (which was much better than getting a goose egg). I caught limits of tuna by 9:45AM and had the remainder of the day and the guys said "bro, let's see if we can get you a big blue?" To me that was code for "the day is over, we will just troll all day and this will be the last of this once in a lifetime fishing opportunity." Yet I agreed. You'll never have a chance of catching your dream fish if you don't try.
About 3 hours in, I was sleeping in the fighting chair and the reel started screaming! The guys were yelling "blue marlin!" I caught so many big fat striped marlin that were tough (but nothing like a big tuna) that I figured the big blues would be similar. 3 hours later, after the single most agonizing battle of my life, the leader was grabbed and I got a brief glimpse of the 550-600lb blue marlin who came off when the tag spear went for him. It was a young and tough beast who would get all the way to the boat then take out all the line again and again and again. I got an underwater image of him from a distance that I zoomed in on but it doesn't show the scale. I don't know if the image of the jumping Marlin was the blue...it may well be.
Anyway, Cabo still reigns supreme for fishing in North America. Get yourself a good captain and crew, arrive EARLY EARLY and make sure to get 3 times the live bait you think you need. Work WITH the crew, don't be passive but respect their gear and way of doing things. You'll have the trip of a lifetime!

2024.04.09 13:50 LYDWAC I love Beans. Spaghetti with Beans. Is it unhealthy?

I'm very simple. Often, my go-to lunch is Spaghetti with a tuna sauce or Spaghetti with Beans, of which the latter has become like my favorite meal since a few months. I eat it like once or twice a week. Is that amount of beans (usually 1 can of white or berlotti beans) unhealthy. It's not a troll question. I'm genuinely concerned about my Bean Consumption.
I need help.
Thank you.

2024.04.02 20:54 Norzrah About Grandpa Welt and a lost Galaxy Ranger...

Considering players did see the cutscene where Acheron steps in stopping Welt from using his cane (Star of Eden) and Himeko from dropping a Nuke most probably :D, saw a post recently with huge interaction and a title "Acheron didn't save us from the Gambler, she saved us from the Grandpa creating a Black Hole" which was funny.
Here comes the interesting part, HSR players not knowing about Welt in the first place asking "Who would Win ?", I was surprised to see a lot of HI players going "Nah I'd win" for Welt which is fine imo as some don't really understand the world building of HI - HSR yet... or just for fun.
What shocked me was players claiming that Welt is indeed stronger than Acheron, going as far as saying Welt is stronger than most beings in HSR, some went absolute Elation mode with "he is stronger than Aeons", do note these were not some trolls but had like 3-5k likes and followed up by huge majority of players agreeing on that.
Let me phrase this as someone who did read and enjoy HI lore a lot, I absolutely love HoRs past and Welt as a char....
https://preview.redd.it/fhhf75szu3sc1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a0bf7d5d9042fb1e5fbbbff4633611403cda4eb
Little bit about Grandapa Welt as I understand it, fellow HI captains can correct me if I am wrong or add details I am missing :
Welt used to be "HoR" : Herrscher of Reason (Let's just say they are similar to Emanators but on a smaller scale, he still might have HoR core with APHO lore), he can create constructs/things/ almost anything as long as he understands the working principle behind it given it has a limitation(>! this is the "Truth" from the Acheron trailer btw!<) , he himself has stated in lore that none of the previous HoRs, including him were able to use the "Reason core" to it's maximum potential or let's just say 100% as it's humanely impossible for them to handle 300,000 minds, only one without any limitation rn is "Da CEO Bronya" from HI3rd...( won't go much into detail about this but yeah HoR core has 300,000 minds/souls in it which are all HoR at the same time or basically they all together form HoR), Welt does not create a real Black Hole, he's mimicking one which also has way less gravitational powers compared to a real one, even in manga he's "Quasi Black Hole", Quasi standing for "apparently but not really; seemingly." for my fellow HI captains from the hype train or spammed skip in lore, stop saying "Welt will destroy planets", Black Hole he creates is just a miniature version of the real deal and there's limitation on how long he can keep it going, he still is a powerhouse but pulling things out of thin air without lore backing it up ? (yes I know the op gigachad prime Welt Yang from manga, the scale there and here in HSR is just isn't the same + he isn't in his prime anymore, he's old now).
Star of Eden, Grandpa's cane : A "Divine key" made using the core of the 9th Herrscher capable of manipulating gravity itself, this is what lets him create a pseudo Black Hole including his understanding of things as a HoR.
Little bit lore on Kevin/Shiraga Oni in hsr : both games have Kevin(Oni from Acheron's trailer) and at some point both are shown to wield Finality/End, Kevin in HI3rd lived on for 50,000+yrs to find a way to defeat the impending doom on humanity(Finality is the doom, Aeon IX in case for HSR), 13 heroes from his era found a way to get hold of little bit of that "Finality" power for himself and lore goes on, point being.... both games had a previous era/old era system where someone like Kevin tried to resist Finality/Aeon IX but failed ultimately leading him to become the villain having a fraction of that exact power which sought to destroy them... not saying both game's past are same down to the T, just theory on my part... so both game's MC try to fight Kevin, HI had 3 main chars, our Tuna, Raiden Mei, Da CEO Bronya, while HSR's Acheron had to fight Kevin alone as her Tuna friend had to dive into IX using her bis relic set T_T.
Acheron is a Self Annihilator, an Emanator of Nihility or Death at this point as Nihility brings death itself, she was someone who held the power of Origin in Izumo, killed Finality Kevin all by herself( while HI had the Trio herrschers working together as a team) and Finality Kevin in HSR probably(?) was stronger as he was corrupted/Oni.... Self Annihilators and Emanator of Nihility = immortal(?), we got hints on this in the recent lore on Emanators : "for the few who can single-handedly withstand the encroachment of Nihility on their existences, their journey of self-annihilation is drawn out to infinity " Izumo was most likely not destroyed recently, Acheron likely has been travelling across the universe for a long time, probably decades/centuries...
Now if someone doesn't care about all the details and asks the question : who would win ? It has to be Acheron, it's pretty much self explanatory : Acheron is the closest to most likely the largest Black Hole in HSR (AEON IX) which is signified in her ultimate where time stops, when you are within the grasp of a Black Hole, everything is meaningless, time/light... reason why colour fades away during her ult and in the recent lore we got "you only have 1 colour left" said most likely by Kevin. She also carries the blade named "Naught" now, which can sever space /time/reality/concepts/time... reason why she was able to cut off the Harmony brand from Aventurine, makes sense right, it reminds me of Senji Muramasa from Fate whose reality marble is a sword that cuts through reality.
As someone who follows the "Aeon of Yapping", I might be an "Emanator of yapping" but I am tired of watching those who follow Elation spreading misinformation about lore they don't understand yet or just went through the hype train they jumped before HSR released, Welt is definitely strong, I can't wait for him to be in the spotlight, we haven't seen him take off his glasses yet but let's look at the facts, Welt isn't even the strongest char from Honkai Impact, HSR world is not a planet or singular solar system like HI3rd, it's a vast universe with countless stars/systems/Black Holes or whatnot.
FINALLY THIS ISN'T ABOUT HI>HSR or VICE VERSA, I play both games and enjoy them equally, lvl 88 EX-RL/lvl 70 player here...it's just stating facts from lore, take a good read on both game's lore if you take the "Goku solos" path.
I hope they stop following Elation so much, my brain juice is empty so I hope this gives you a decent explanation on Welt-Acheron, if you come across "who would win ?" posts after the 2.1 quests, you know a little bit more lore/theory...

2024.03.28 16:56 MuffMagician Tutorial: Best YouTube fishing channels to learn from.

TL;DR -- Here are my favorite YouTube channels to learn about fishing. Not trying to advertise anybody, just genuinely enjoy these channels. I'll put a little note describing each one. This is a poor list to learn about fly fishing or ice fishing but represents well most every other technique. Whether you're a broke drunk like me or a successful yacht owner, this list has something for everyone. Unfortunately they cannot be linked to directly due to subreddit rules. Enjoy!
I've watched each of these YouTube creators over the last several years and they are all excellent!
To get the most out of this list: focus on the channels most relevant to your fishing dreams, then watch one or two videos a day over several months. There is a lot to learn even if you narrow everything down to just one discipline.
Before you begin, here is an important list of keywords to help you understand my descriptions of each channel:
  • Bank fishing: fishing from the shore of a freshwater body (stream, river, or lake) without a boat.
  • Surf fishing: fishing from the shore of a saltwater body (estuary, sea, or ocean) without a boat.
  • Inshore fishing: saltwater fishing, on a boat, within sight of land.
  • Offshore fishing: saltwater fishing, on a boat, with no land in sight.
  • Open party sport boat: a public business which offers trips on a medium sized boat to fish inshore or offshore. Dozens of customers can be put on one boat and these trips can last anywhere from six hours to several days. The customers generally do not know each other. Boats used vary wildly in size and comfort. These trips have a more amateur feel to them.
  • Private party sport boat: also called a charter boat, this is a public business which takes a dozen or less customers out fishing on a small or medium sized boat, either in freshwater or saltwater. The customers generally all know each other. These trips usually last less than a day but are very high quality. Boats used vary wildly in size and comfort. These trips have a more professional feel to them.
  • Kayak fishing: this ain't no wood-paddled canoe! Modern American kayak fishermen are absolutely out of control. Fully kitted fishing kayaks range in price from several hundred dollars to almost $10,000. One of the best ways to fish right now if you can swing it.
  • Spear fishing: diving underwater with a spear or spear gun to harvest fish. Diving without SCUBA equipment is called "freediving" or "skin diving." Spear fishing offers incredible views and opportunities but is easily the most dangerous fishing technique.
So without further ado and in no particular order, here are the recommendations --
Freshwater YouTube channels:
1) Fishing With Nat. Hosted by an American angler who kayak-fishes the Midwest for pike, walleye, and panfish. Has the absolute best underwater footage of various lures and rigs in action.
2) SeaSpanker Outdoors. American angler who bank-fishes the West Coast for all kinds of trout. Excellent tackle explanations. Best resource on this list for spinning-reel trout fishing.
3) Bass Fishing Tips & Techniques. Features various American bass fishing pros and their tackle, boats, and fishing trips. Best source on this list for bass fishing.
4) Catfish and Carp. American-lawyer-turned-professional-YouTube-angler. Mostly bank-fishing and small private party boat fishing. Host abandoned this million-subscriber channel to successfully create a new, multimillion subscriber channel called The Outdoor Boys featuring his young family. I prefer the older channel as it is more focused on fishing and tackle instead of his family's adventures.
Saltwater YouTube channels:
5) Your Saltwater Guide. Hosted by American angler Dave Hansen, a Southern California legend. US Coast Guard licensed captain. He offshore-fishes Southern California and northwestern Mexico from any number of luxury fishing yachts happily lent to him. His father Don basically created the sportfishing and whale watching industries as we know them today. Dave can be a little brash in his presentations but he definitely knows what he's doing about all things boating, fishing, lobstering, and tackle. Paid brand ambassador for a boatload of fishing companies.
6) Gale Force Twins. Educated, American twin sisters who are veterans of the southern Florida sportfishing industry. Both are US Coast Guard licensed captains. They mostly offshore fish southern continental Florida and its keys from their personal, medium sized boat but also from open party sport boats. Paid brand ambassadors for a boatload of companies. The best channel on this list for earning your USCG captain's license. This channel is a great example of classic East Coast style fishing. Good resource for stone crab trapping.
7) BlacktipH. American angler who fishes southern continental Florida from the surf, inshore, and offshore. The best resource on this list for shark fishermen. His "World's Strongest Men Versus World's Strongest Fish" video is a hilarious must-watch. He just beat cancer! šŸ’Ŗ
8) Erik Landesfeind. American angler who offshore fishes Southern California. This channel is abandoned but its content is still very helpful, especially if you have your own ocean-going boat. Specializes in tuna. Best channel on this list for combining GPS, fleet activity, depth charts, sonar, and radar to find the exact location of tuna.
9) Fisherman's Life. American angler who surf-fishes and inshore fishes central California. His surf-fishing videos targeting crabs and his inshore videos trolling for King salmon near the Golden Gate Bridge are awesome. Great resource to learn about the realities of fishing from a smaller, ocean-going boat. One of the few anglers online targeting California's abundant central coast.
10) Fluent Fishing. American angler who fishes Southern California inshore, offshore, and local lakes for bass. Another great resource to learn about the realities of fishing from a smaller, ocean-going boat.
11) Key West Waterman. American commercial fisherman and charter boat business operator who fishes Florida's keys from his own small boats. Fishes inshore, offshore, and by spear. Simply the best freediving spearfishing videos on the internet, bar none. Operates one of the most interesting small fishing boats I've ever seen (Gheenoe).
12) Lever Up Sportfishing. American angler fishing inshore and offshore in Southern California from his own small boat. This channel is a great example of classic West Coast style fishing.
13) MeatEater. Also on Netflix. American host who travels all over the USA fishing inshore, offshore, and by spear. Great to watch but not the best resource to learn from, in my opinion, as he almost always skips over his tackle details for brevity.
14) Sammy Hitzke Fishing. Australian angler who mostly trolls inshore and offshore from eastern continental Australia. Great entertainment during the American offseason since that is when fishing season is at its height in the Southern Hemisphere.
15) Southern Salt. American angler who kayak-fishes inshore around Mobile Bay, Alabama. One of the few on YT targeting America's central Gulf Coast.
16) Benjie Kim Fishing. American angler who surf-fishes southern California. Easily the hardest working surf-fisherman on the West Coast. One of the few anglers online targeting California's abundant central coast.
17) Ultimate Fishing. New Zealand's wildest fisherman! The host fishes the world over, mostly offshore. Not entirely sure what is going on here; I believe he created a for-TV show which he is now posting to YouTube and also his own website. His video about his time aboard the luxury sportfishing yacht The Ultimate Lady and hooking into "the biggest fish ever" is simply the most incredible fishing video on the internet.
18) Stanz Fam. American angler who operates his own offshore private charter boat out of the Florida Keys. Targets swordfish mainly. Good resource for stone crab trapping.
19) Dirty Hookers. American angler from south-central California. Fishes offshore and inshore from California down to northwestern Mexico. Has some amazing videos about open party sport boats out of northwestern Mexico.
20) sport-fishing dot com. Last but certainly not least. Features American angler Dan Hernandez fishing offshore, inshore, and from surf. Mostly fishes open party sport boats out of Los Angeles. A SoCal legend.
Tackle-focused YouTube channels:
21) Tackle Advisors. American angler who I believe owns his own tackle repair shop in New Jersey. Host goes into extreme detail about various reels: how to disassemble them, clean them, lubricate them, and re-assemble. Great resource for which reels are worth your money or not. Sadly, this important channel was abandoned in 2021.
22) Fishing With Nat. Same channel from the above freshwater recommendations section.
23) SeaSpanker Outdoors. Same channel from the above freshwater recommendations section.
24) Your Saltwater Guide. Same channel from the above saltwater recommendations section. Wealthy boat-owners will appreciate his tips for maintaining your yacht, managing crews, and purchasing used yachts.
25) Ultimate Fishing. Same channel from the above saltwater recommendations section.

Teased for being ugly
If trolling for pelagics in a small boat, you often don't have enough boat and motor to attract a lot of attention from roaming fish. But, see this offcut of boat trailer skid with some mirror stainless steel screwed to the side? It's a dirt cheap teaser that you tow on a rope a few metres behind in the boat wake, letting it splash and flash sunlight all over the place making tuna hundreds of metres away wonder what action they might be missing out on. It's so ugly that the Mk1 version got eaten by "something" that I choose not to speculate or dwell on.

šŸ”—Powerful Left-Handed Baitcaster with Carbon Matrix Drag System

https://preview.redd.it/e6sdisag49qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f348d00e7f213e25d495122c6ff732df628a51c9
As a dedicated angler, I recently had the opportunity to try the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C4 Baitcasting reel. This reel has a sleek and sturdy design that immediately caught my attention. The compact bent handle and star provide an ergonomic feel, which is crucial when battling fish.
One of the most impressive features of this reel is its powerful drag system. The Carbon Matrix drag system ensures consistent pressure and ultra-smooth operation, which is essential for reeling in those big catches. Additionally, the 6 pins centrifugal brake offers better control, making it easier for me to catch more fish.
However, there were a few issues I encountered while using the reel. Firstly, the spooler didn't work as smoothly as I had hoped, and it made retrieval more difficult than it should have been. Secondly, the customer support was not as responsive as I would have liked when I tried to get it repaired.
Overall, despite a few setbacks, the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C4 Baitcasting reel proved to be a reliable and powerful option for any angler looking to up their game. With its smooth operation and ergonomic design, it's definitely worth considering for your next fishing adventure.

šŸ”—Abu Garcia Max Pro Low Profile Reel: High-Performance for Fishing Enthusiasts

https://preview.redd.it/kzoliqau49qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4c0c15e50965382df7dc9b7352b86994ade5f57
I recently had the chance to try out the Abu Garcia Max Pro Low Profile Reel, and I must say, it does not disappoint. Right off the bat, I was impressed by its compact, ergonomic design. The custom-molded handle knobs made it incredibly comfortable to grip, even during extended casting sessions.
One of the key highlights of this reel is its smooth operation. The 7+1 bearing system and Duragear Brass gear truly shined when it came to casting and retrieving my lures. The MagTrax magnetic brake provided consistent pressure, reducing the risk of backlash and wigging, which is a major concern for me when using a baitcaster.
While the reel's performance lived up to my expectations, there were a couple of drawbacks I encountered. The instructions could have been a bit more thorough, as it took some trial and error to figure out the optimal setup for my fishing style. Additionally, the reel's drag tension seemed a tad on the low side, which might be an issue for those casting heavier lures.
Overall, the Abu Garcia Max Pro Low Profile Reel delivered an excellent casting experience with plenty of power and smoothness. While there were a couple of minor issues to iron out, I would still highly recommend this reel to any angler looking for a reliable and high-performing baitcaster.

šŸ”—Sleek, High-Performance Abu Garcia Vengeance Fishing Reel

https://preview.redd.it/z7l1a6ru49qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=104a1c1f7d538fc1e29b5289bc6cf23acdf544d7
I gave the Abu Garcia Vengeance baitcast fishing reel a try, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. This reel boasts high-quality features like a machined aluminum spool and graphite frame that make it both durable and lightweight. I was particularly impressed with the 4 stainless steel ball bearings and roller bearing, ensuring smooth performance.
I also liked the power disk drag system and Duragear brass system, which offered excellent control and strength. The MagTrax brake system and compact bent handle made for comfortable casting, even with small baits. However, I did find the tension knob to be quite close to the drag system, which made adjustments a bit tricky.
Overall, the Abu Garcia Vengeance baitcast fishing reel proved to be a reliable and affordable option for both beginners and experienced anglers. Its smooth performance and powerful features make it a strong contender in the world of fishing reels.

šŸ”—Abu Garcia Left-Handed Baitcaster with Digital Line Counter and Sailing Alarm

https://preview.redd.it/l2u9o8zv49qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30749dd0115ce702bfabd9249130fa92cc5c003a
I recently tried the Abu Garcia Baitcasting Reel Max DLC BG-L Left Handed, and let me tell you, it was quite a unique experience. Weighing in at 12.6 ounces, it felt smooth and lightweight, making it perfect for my left-handed fishing style.
One of the standout features was its 4.8:1 gear ratio, which provided a noticeable enhancement in my fishing performance. The maximum line intake of 23.6 inches was impressive and allowed me to handle even the toughest lines with ease. However, the maximum drag of 19.8 lbs. seemed a bit overwhelming for me, but it might be just right for other anglers.
One of the things that really caught my eye was the digital line counter, which came with a replaceable CR2032 battery. However, the sailing alarm function and large-text counter readout with LED backlight were a bit of an overkill for me.
As for the product's versatility, it was recommended for a variety of blueback jigging techniques, which was intriguing to explore. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try it out in a real fishing scenario, so I can't vouch for its effectiveness.
Despite my high hopes, the product's performance didn't quite match my expectations, and its minor shortcomings left me a bit unsatisfied. Nonetheless, the product's durability and performance are worth considering, especially given its reasonable cost. Would I recommend it? Maybe, but it'll really depend on the specific needs and preferences of the user.

šŸ”—Left-Handed Abu Garcia Baitcaster with Digital Line Counter

https://preview.redd.it/rh5nrzcw49qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38f0608119171ebe12d8ad1cc259f2af0a3a5af9
It was a sunny afternoon when I decided to give the Abu Garcia Baitcasting Reel a try for some deep-sea tuna jigging. With its lightweight design and comfortable palm grip, I couldn't wait to test its performance.
Upon opening the reel, I noticed the digital line counter with a replaceable battery, which I found quite convenient. The sailing alarm function and large-text counter readout with an LED backlight were also great features to have. The reel seemed well-built and sturdy, which gave me confidence in its capabilities.
As I started jigging, I found that the reel offered a good balance between power and sensitivity, making it easy to detect even the slightest bites from the deep-sea creatures. The line capacity was impressive, allowing me to cast longer distances with ease.
However, there were a few areas where the reel could be improved. The 6:2 gear ratio felt a bit slow for some situations, causing me to struggle when trying to retrieve the line quickly. Additionally, I wished there was an option to change the handle, as I found the 6"x6" power handle to be a bit too large for my taste.
Despite these minor issues, the Abu Garcia Baitcasting Reel was a reliable and durable option for my deep-sea adventures. Its smooth operation and impressive features made it a great choice for any serious angler, whether they were targeting swordfish, tuna, or any other deep-sea species. With its competitive pricing and top-notch performance, I would definitely recommend this reel to anyone looking for a powerful and versatile deep-sea fishing tool.

Buyer's Guide

The power of an Abu Garcia reel refers to its ability to handle heavy lines and large fish. For left-handed baitcasting, consider reels with high power like the Abu Garcia Revo SX or Abu Garcia Ambassa Torque LE. Gear ratio is another important factor determining the reel's efficiency in handling different lures and retrieval speeds. Look for Abu Garcia models that offer a gear ratio of at least 5.3:1 for better control and performance.

https://preview.redd.it/h616epxw49qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ccc20e6b864c2e62b1650002cd2583ab62eaeea4

Components and Durability

Abu Garcia reels are renowned for their sturdiness and durability. For a high-quality reel, focus on models that boast strong materials like Carbon Matrix and Aircraft-quality aluminum. Additionally, pay attention to the materials used in the drag system and the gears to ensure a consistent drag and long-lasting performance. A good example would be the Abu Garcia Orra Mag or the Abu Garcia Black Max LE.

Comfort and Design

The design and overall comfort of an Abu Garcia left-handed baitcaster should be a top priority. Look for reels with innovative handle systems like the Hydraulic MagTraction for improved casting comfort. Also, consider reels with an ergonomic design, such as the Abu Garcia Ambassa Torque LE that provides reduced hand fatigue during extended fishing sessions. Additionally, ensure the reel has a compact design to make it easy to store and transport.

Budget Considerations

While Abu Garcia offers several high-quality left-handed baitcasters at different price points, it's crucial to establish your budget. Look for reels that provide the best balance between features, performance, and affordability. Consider models like the Abu Garcia Revo SX or Abu Garcia Black Max LE that offer competitive features at a more budget-friendly price range.

Maintenance and Warranty

Proper maintenance is essential for ensuring the longevity of your Abu Garcia left-handed baitcaster. Familiarize yourself with the manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning and maintenance. Also, look for reels with a reliable warranty like the Abu Garcia lifetime warranty, which demonstrates the company's confidence in the product's quality and performance.

2024.03.23 15:23 PanhandleAngler BFT

BFT
Caught a mile from shore in less than 65 feet of water trolling a cigar minnow imitation soft bait on tackle that was definitely too light (he obviously hit the dink targeting setup). Took too long to land but well worth it, the initial run on a 4k 8-17lb rated spin combo on troll level drag setting was incredible. Lost the rest of our spread to overlap tangle because it was that or risk the fish and spool with how far out that bait started and how much he ripped right off, still well worth it. And the light tackle gave us the whole tuna spin circles -> boat maneuvering experience last portion of the fight, shout-out to my friend who was a real pro at the wheel.
Picture still doesnā€™t quite do it justice, no stretch 34 inches at resting fork tips and incredibly thick, brained bled gutted iced and then cleaned at the dock asap so no official weight but likely +/- 30lbs, my PB BFT 2x over.
