Anybody here who received the global masters scholarship?
Are there any other funding options for students from Bangladesh? Another question I have is about any part time campus jobs available that could aid in my living costs.

hello i'm a dumbass
i can't afford HES without financial aid. So, I need to wait for the Fall 2024 application period to open, which is like June 20th or something like that, and then I apply, get accepted, send Harvard my FAFSA, and they will package my financial aid? What if I haven't graduated with my Bachelor's yet? I won't finish my BA until the end of the Aug, and I'm pretty sure HES's online semester for Fall starts in September. So that's only a week between finishing my BA and starting my HES Grad Cert. Also, for "full-time" financial aid at HES, do i need to take two courses at a time or is just one enough? I'd prefer to take one at a time.

Thank you for this opportunity to explain my disappointing semester as it does not reflect my true character. I faced difficulties during the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters that greatly impacted by academic standing.
In the Fall 2023 semester, I went through an intense family crisis, starting with my grandpa ernan whom I am very close with. He came to live in our home for some time and was very ill and battled with early stages of what we realized was dementia. I found myself taking care of my grandpa while my parents worked as he would have trouble doing things on his own and was sick all the time which was disheartening to see because I would worry, I had to deal with the fact that it was not going to get better and we would have to send him to his home country honduras soon in which we did and he is still sick and stable but not any better as we hoped.
Coping with the sickness and care for my grandpa, Shortly after, my brother, went through a tough time mentally that led him into alcoholism. In which we saw him changing erratically like we never seen before. I found myself growing increasingly sad and worried every day, it was all I could think about and it impacted my psychological well being because I felt hopeless and useless seeing that he refused professional help. I grew even more pressured being that this was my older brother and my parents looked at their younger daughter, me, like I was their only hope because I was in school and trying to get better but this would only make me worse. Being very close to my brother and grandpa, I prioritized supporting and caring for them over getting help for my mental health which resulted in my neglect of my academic responsibilities.
Despite still dealing with my mental health during spring semester i still held my determination to pass my classes with better grades and get off academic probation and prevailed. I take full accountability for my academic decline and I have taken positive steps to ensure my academic success moving forward. I took a learning strategies class spring semester and it helped me tremendously with studying tips. I am already in contact with someone who goes to my university to help me with tutoring when I go back in the fall, specifically with math which is what I have most trouble in. I joined a biology club which also is helping me gain more knowledge and stay on track with my major which is biology. Additionally, I have already contacted my advisor to register me to take a summer course to boost my grades up and we have came up with an academic plan for the upcoming fall semester. On a personal note, I will learn to not feel ashamed to reach out for help if I am going through a hardship whether it’s a campus counselor or an online therapist.
My drive for continuing and completing my education are far stronger as a first generation student than the struggles i may face. I am committed to regaining good academic standing and in completing my degree. However, neither of these goals will be possible for me without the assistance and opportunity financial aid provides because I am a first generation student and my family and I don’t have the full means to pay out of pocket.

I didn’t seek professional help for my mental health - didn’t go to a therapist. So I don’t have documentation to add.. what can I do about that?
I was told I can have a colleague that I worked with in the past write a letter as a 3rd party sign off because they were aware of what I was struggling with.

To be clear, I mean NOT photo-realistic renderings. I hired a freelancer to create a tech pack for a travel bag that is pretty unique in its aesthetic. I've been sitting on this for ages, trying to prototype or work with a factory to get samples---but that process is extremely slow-going and I'm getting paralyzed in "little" changes.
The renderings I have are complementary to the tech pack and not designed for marketing purposes, but rather as a visual aid for the factories...but I'm really just bursting at the seams to try something to test this idea and get the ball rolling.
I plan to sell the initial product on Kickstarter to jumpstart the brand and shift into a more/less standard ecommerce business model, but before the Kickstarter I'd like to use my existing email list and build a larger one around this particular type of product.
Reasons I'm leary:

• 3D renderings seem amateurish and it may not give an accurate impression of interest in the product. It would be ideal to go to market with an actual sample and a reasonably professional photoshoot
• While no one is doing what i'm doing in this industry, the ideas are no doubt good and could be easily replicated by anyone with an established brand--and much faster than I can. But being as I wish to launch on Kickstarter, the unique features will be powerful.

The reasons I want to go ahead with the renderings:

• They're all I've got at the moment.
• If I keep trying to tweak and hire more freelancers, it's going to take way too long to bring this idea to market (it's already taken way too long).
• Obviously testing with renderings will give an inclination of how worthwhile it is to continue pursuing this...

I'd love some thoughts from some seasoned experts. Thanks!

I transferred into UB last fall with a 3.0 gpa. Due to mental health struggles my gpa fell immensely, and my UB gpa was below a 2.0 resulting in me getting academic warning. I continued to spiral into this semester before changing my medication, and I’ve been making a crazy push to try and salvage the semester. Unfortunately it seems that my efforts may be too little too late, and I’m currently unsure if my gpa will be above a 2.0 for this semester. I’ve already been preparing to make appeals for both financial aid and possible dismissal with my advisor. However, in looking through UB policies I was unsure if I’d be placed on probation before getting dismissed. The undergrad catalog states that you get probation after being on warning if you had a cumulative UB gpa above a 2.0 before your last infractions begin, but I’m unsure if my gpa as a transfer would be taken into account. I’m going to bring this up our next meeting to see the specifics of this in my case, but has anyone here been through anything similar?

I still haven't received financial aid for for the fall, should I be worried at this point?

Is it possible to go to the financial aid of and request FAFSA? I have military benefits because one of my parents is a veteran but the benefit is ending soon and I would need to pay for a semester. Could I talk to financial aid. I am afraid they will be of no help. Please share your experience.

In high school, I applied to one school and got in but not enough scholarships to warrant going OOS. This led me to community college. I planned to go to CC and then transfer to that school. Then, I grew up and realized staying in state makes more financial sense.
Now, I’m transferring to a pretty good instate school and just had my advising session. It will take me at least 1 extra semester to graduate, if not 2. I’m feeling bummed about it and feel really dumb.
On the other hand, I would never judge or even think less of someone who doesn’t graduate in the “regular” 4 years, it’s just within myself that makes me feel bad.

I’m not sure if it’s an obvious answer, but UCD is offering me more grants to help cover cost of living on top of tuition whereas as UCSB basically covers just tuition. Also curious if an appeal would help. I was leaning towards committing to UCSB but Davis might be a better choice financially if they’re offering more.

I’m an international student and I really want to go To Exeter or Lancaster for finance/ investment banking but the tuition is rather costly, is there any aid or financial advise to ease the burden? Also would like thoughts on the two unis I’m going to, ie; social life, ranking, campus etc. thanks

Here is the deal. I am from a country that doesn't have any schroth therapists, so growing up I only had a corset, and then my curved stayed between 44-41 degrees. (It suddenly improved a bit, I assume because I started lifting). Then, I moved to the United States. However, my insurance is AWFUL. A regular in-network GP is like 200 dollars for a single session after insurance. It used to be $20, but they became so stingy. Furthermore, none of the physicians they cover in my area do Schroth, so I would have to go Out-of-Network. I am a student, on full-financial aid, and I can't afford to spend so much on it.
Luckily, I am going to a great grad school with an excellent health insurance, and I noticed almost all the physical therapists I've seen in our areas that do Schroth work with it. But, I won't be starting grad school until 2025, since I am going to the UK for a year to complete a program.
Anyways, I ran into the videos of a lady with scoliosis that explains some exercises that are based on the schroth method, basically to fix your concavities and your curves. I tried it yesterday using a set of mirror to see, and I was shocked by how I was actually able to correct my curves, but it left some of my back muscles a little sore. I am scared trying to do this alone won't be safe, but also I am a bit eager to start asap. I feel very insecure about my back and my curves, and it bothered me my entire life.

i got into upenn yesterday but realized that my financial aid checklist isn’t complete. i uploaded everything right away last night. how long will it take to receive my aid package? should i worry that i won’t get it before the may 31 enrollment deadline? i know this is my own fault but im really worried
