2024.05.16 16:48 YoungUrineTheGreat Best response when someone wants your best price and to call them after they leave while they shop around?

Example: coming back from test drive “alright so what i need you to do for me is im going to go check out everyone else and you send me the best out the door price on these 3 vehicles”
In my opinion it tells me that this is somewhat a waste of time as if they really wanted the BEST price they would sit down and hear everything out.
Just because that is 9/10 instances doesn't mean it's always going to be that way so Id like a good response where I can convey basically
"The Best price is always going to be the one right before you decide to take it home. If I go to my manager and say "They want to go shop some other cars while we work out our best price in the meantime, they are not in any rush to purchase, and no matter what they are going to go look at a Ford, how hard do you think he's going to go to work on the price for you compared to me saying that if we can make the figures work that you're open to taking it today?"

2024.05.16 16:46 theTaskmaster- Let's talk about the Dangbei Mars Pro 2

Been using an Epson 2150 Home Cinema for a long time now and have been interested in upgrading to 4k for a while but was always deterred by the price. Surprisingly, someone offered to buy my Epson and it seems like the time is right to upgrade. I am a novice enthusiast and welcome all opinions. I do not currently have a screen.
The Mars Pro 2 is being released the 28th of this month and Dangbei is offering $400 off as well as a free gimbal to early buyers (Making it $1500). I am attracted to the new laser technology, brightness, 3D Support, HDR10+, and quietness. While it is not a key selling point, I do like the portability as I have brought my projector to gatherings in the past.
I'm unfamiliar with the "lifestyle" projector market. Most youtube reviews seem to try to sell these projectors to people who don't already have one. I'm having a hard time understanding the actual value of this projector compared to others on the market. I would love an Epson LS1100 but it's just not in the cards
I am aware that this projector has digital focusing which can reduce the resolution. It's something I would still like to experiment with, I am unsure if it would be a deal breaker to me. I am ok to wait until the fall if people think it would make more sense to. Thanks for reading :)

2024.05.16 16:38 QuoteRunnerUK How do you search for and secure energy prices?

Hi everyone. Looking for genuine feedback on the model we've developed for businesses to search for and secure energy prices if possible.
With energy brokers commonly including huge commissions added into supplier deals, and many price comparison sites typically doing no more than gathering personal information for the audience to be placed on a never-ending email or call list, we wanted to be different - but it's difficult to get traction.
We took the inspiration from travel sites - whereby you don't have to input your contact details just to see prices. Just a few basic details and you can then make a decision, or come back later, compare at your leisure, without fear of being hounded by travel agents with "have you made a decision on your holiday yet?".
Our website lets businesses check energy prices with that same reassurance, because contact details aren't required at the pricing stage, they can be reassured we won't be calling or emailing them to continually chase (I'm sure many of you will have experienced pushy energy brokers).
Not only this, rather than attempt to hide commissions or include ridiculous fees, our website costs a one-off £49.99 contract processing fee. This is believed to be significantly lower than what most energy brokers will include as commissions. Typically most energy brokers receive the same base-prices from suppliers - so the only difference in cost to the customer is the commission included - and so our deals would be more competitive.
However - it's hard to get traction on what seems to be an appealing offer to customers - a no-pressure sales process, transparent, and competitive.
We've attempted facebook marketing, twitter, direct emailing, google ads, Reddit ads, and tried to see of anyone like the FSB may want to partner - but no success.
If anyone else has any other marketing suggestions I'd be all ears.

2024.05.16 16:34 thinkingstranger May 15, 2024

All three of the nation’s major stock indexes hit record highs today after the latest data showed inflation cooling. Standard and Poor’s 500, more commonly known as the S&P 500, measures the stock performance of 500 of the largest companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges. Today it was up 61 points, or 1.2%. The Nasdaq Composite is weighted toward companies in the information technology sector. Today it was up 231 points, or 1.4%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, often just called the Dow, measures 30 prominent companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges. Today it was up 350 points, or 0.9%. The Dow ended the day at 39,908, approaching 40,000.
Driving the hike in the stock market, most likely, is the information released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the Labor Department saying that inflation eased in April. Investors are guessing this makes it more likely that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates this year.
People note—correctly—that the stock market does not reflect the larger economy. This makes a report released yesterday from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, or CBO, an important addition to the news from the stock market. It concludes that the goods and services an American household consumed in 2019 were cheaper in 2023 than they were four years before, because incomes grew faster than prices over that four-year period. That finding was true for all levels of the economy.
That is, “for all income groups…the portion of household income required to purchase the same bundle of goods and services declined.” Those in the bottom 20% found that the share of their income required to purchase the same bundle dropped by 2%. For those in the top 20%, the share of their income required to purchase as they did in 2019 dropped by 6.3%.
These statistics come on top of unemployment below 4% for a record 27 months, and more than 15 million jobs created since Biden took office, including 789,000 in manufacturing. According to Politifact, three quarters of those jobs represented a return to the conditions before the coronavirus pandemic, but the rest are new. Politifact noted that it is so rare for manufacturing jobs to bounce back at all, that the only economic recovery since World War II that beats the current one was in 1949, making the recovery under the Biden-Harris administration the strongest in 72 years.
And yet, a recent Philadelphia Inquirer/New York Times/Siena College poll found that 78% of Pennsylvania voters thought the economy was “fair” or “poor.” Fifty-four percent of them said they trust Trump to handle the economy better than Biden, compared with just 42% who prefer Biden.
The divorce between reality and people’s beliefs illuminates just how important media portrayals of events are.
In the landslide election of 1892, when voters elected Democrat Grover Cleveland to the White House for the third time (he won the popular vote in 1888 but lost in the electoral college) and put Democrats in charge of the House of Representatives and the Senate, Republicans insisted that the economy would collapse. The previous administration, that of Republican Benjamin Harrison, had openly and proudly worked for businessmen, and Republicans maintained that losing that administration would be a calamity. Democrats, the Republicans insisted, were really socialists and anarchists who wanted to destroy America.
As Republican newspapers predicted an impending collapse, fearful investors pulled out of the market. Although economic indicators were actually better in 1892 than they had been for years, as soon as Cleveland was elected, the nation seemed to be in terrible trouble. Money began to flow out of the stock market, and the outgoing Harrison administration refused to reassure investors. By February 1893 the stock market was paralyzed.
In mid-February, financier J. P. Morgan rushed to Washington to urge Harrison to do something, but the calm of the administration men remained undisturbed. Secretary of the Treasury Charles Foster commented publicly that the Republicans were responsible for the economy only until March 4, the day Cleveland would take office. His job was to “avert a catastrophe up to that date.”
He didn’t quite manage it. On Friday, February 17, the stock market began to collapse. By February 23 the slaughter was universal. Investors begged Harrison to relieve the crisis, but with only eight days left in his term, Harrison and his men maintained that nothing important was happening. The secretary of the Treasury spent his last few days in office sitting for his portrait. The New York Times noted that “[i]f the National Treasury Department had been retained especially to manufacture apprehension and create disturbance it could not have done more effective work.”
Secretary Foster had one more parting shot. When he handed the Treasury Department off to his Democratic successor, he told the newspapers that “the Treasury was down to bedrock.”
When Cleveland took office on March 4, 1893, a financial panic was in full swing. As he tried to negotiate that crisis, Republicans sagely told voters the crash was the result of the Democrats’ policies. When Democrats turned to an income tax so they could lower the tariffs that were hurting consumers, Republicans insisted they were socialists. When unemployed workers and struggling farmers marched on Washington to ask for jobs or launched railroad strikes, Republicans insisted that Democrats stood with the mob, while Republicans were the party of law and order.
Republicans promised voters that they would restore the health of the economy. The 1894 midterm elections reversed the landslide of 1892, giving Republicans 130 more seats in the House—a two-thirds majority—and a majority in the Senate. The economy had begun to recover before the election, and that uptick continued. The Democrats had plunged the country into a panic, the Chicago Tribune reported, but now “American manufacturers and merchants and business-men generally will draw a long breath of relief.”
How the media covers events matters.
Allison Fisher of Media Matters reported today that with the exception of MSNBC, national television news failed to cover the extraordinary story reported by Josh Dawsey and Maxine Joselow on May 9 in the Washington Post that Trump had told oil executives that if they gave $1 billion to his campaign, he would get rid of all the regulations the Biden administration has enacted to combat climate change.
In the 1920s, President Warren G. Harding’s secretary of the interior, Albert Fall, went to prison for a year for accepting a $385,000 bribe from oilman Edward L. Doheny in exchange for leases to drill for oil on naval reserve land in Elk Hills and Buena Vista, California, and Teapot Dome, Wyoming. Fall was the first former cabinet officer to go to prison, and the scandal was considered so outrageous that “Teapot Dome” has gone down in U.S. history as shorthand for a corrupt presidency.

2024.05.16 16:30 VintageBurtMacklin 1440p Gaming Build using Insurance Money

Long story short, we had damage to our house and it looks like insurance will fund a replacement desktop for my 7 year old gaming pc. In order to satisfy insurance, I had a local repair shop put together a list of what would be a comparable pc. Note that this isn't their recommended build, it's their best approximation of what it would be to replace my PC in today's parts since so much has changed since I last built in 2017.
The way it'll work is insurance will cut a check for the total of this comparable build (Approx $1900); I don't need to use the exact list of parts as recommended by the repair shop. Additionally, I can put in my own money to get whatever I want at or above this price.
If I'm looking for something that can game comfortably at 1440p for years to come, what changes or upgrades would you make to the proposed build as a starting point? Or should I go totally off script?
Part List Here
A couple notes: I have all my peripherals, I'd like to give this local shop my business because they helped me jump through insurance hoops. I'd like something that's quiet, good air flow, and not super RGB-heavy / gamer-y aesthetic

2024.05.16 16:21 Toror Need real opinions: Enchantment vs Harmony in September

Recently a group of friends and I have decided to go on a cruise and these are the two options we are weighing (primarily because they surround Labor Day).
Itineraries we are comparing:
Harmony 7 night western Caribbean - Roatan Honduras, Costa Maya Mexico, Cozumel Mexico
Enchantment 7 night Bahamas - Nassau, Grand Bahamas island, perfect day at CocoCay, and Key west
We are a larger group (12-14) people in our early and mid twenties.
The group is currently in favor of the smaller boat just because of the destinations.
The price difference between the two is fairly negligible, only an $80 difference per person for the larger one vs the smaller one.
If you have been on either of these boats and you either really enjoyed it or really regretted it I would love your feedback on the comparison between these two cruises (overall activities, boat energy, typical crowd etc)
Obviously the bigger boat will have more bells and whistles but will we regret going on either one?
We enjoy big group activities or distractions and diversions and all stay up fairly late.

2024.05.16 16:15 Puginator Under Armour is laying off workers, retailer says North America sales will plunge

Under Armour announced a broad restructuring plan on Thursday as it said sales in its largest market, North America, plunged 10% and predicted the trend will get worse throughout its current fiscal year.
The athletic apparel retailer also saw profits sink by more than 96% during its fiscal fourth quarter, compared with the year-ago period.
It’s unclear how many employees Under Armour will lay off as part of the restructuring, but the plan is expected to cost between $70 million and $90 million, a portion of which will be used for employee severance and benefits costs. The company declined to share more information with CNBC about its restructuring.
The company’s shares were down more than 2% in morning trading.
Here’s how the athletic apparel retailer did in its fiscal fourth quarter compared with what Wall Street was anticipating, based on a survey of analysts by LSEG:
Earnings per share: 11 cents adjusted vs. 8 cents expected Revenue: $1.33 billion vs. $1.33 billion expected The company’s reported net income for the three-month period that ended March 31 was $6.6 million, or 2 cents per share, compared with $170.6 million, or 38 cents per share, a year earlier. Excluding one-time items, the company reported earnings of 11 cents per share.
Sales dropped to $1.33 billion, down about 5% from $1.4 billion a year earlier.
During the quarter, sales in North America declined 10% to $772 million, worse than the $780 million that analysts had expected, according to StreetAccount.
Under Armour said it expects sales to continue to worsen in North America. The company anticipates they will drop between 15% and 17% in its current fiscal year.
“Due to a confluence of factors, including lower wholesale channel demand and inconsistent execution across our business, we are seizing this critical moment to make proactive decisions to build a premium positioning for our brand, which will pressure our top and bottom line in the near term,” founder and CEO Kevin Plank said in a statement.
“Over the next 18 months, there is a significant opportunity to reconstitute Under Armour’s brand strength through achieving more, by doing less and focusing on our core fundamentals,” he added.
Across Under Armour’s business, the company is expecting revenue to be down “at a low-double-digit percentage rate” in its current fiscal year, while analysts had expected sales to grow by 2.1%, according to LSEG.
The company is planning to cut down on promotions and discounting, which it expects will lead its gross margin to rise between 0.75 and 1 percentage point for the fiscal year.
It’s expecting diluted earnings per share to be between 2 cents and 5 cents and adjusted diluted earnings per share to be between 18 cents and 21 cents for the year. Analysts had expected earnings per share of 52 cents, according to LSEG.
Under Armour’s rough quarter comes about two months after the retailer announced former Marriott executive Stephanie Linnartz would be stepping down from her role as CEO after barely a year on the job and Plank would once again take the helm of the company he founded in 1996.
Linnartz was the second CEO the company has cycled through in less than two years.
She was hired on a bet that her experience building out Marriott’s renowned Bonvoy loyalty program and driving digital revenue for the hotel giant would offset her lack of experience in the retail industry. Before her departure, she managed to overhaul Under Armour’s C-suite and build out its loyalty program. She was attempting to pivot the brand’s assortment to a more athleisure-focused offering that had more stylish options for women.
Ultimately, she was ousted before those plans could become a reality. Following the announcement of Linnartz’s departure, a number of analysts downgraded Under Armour and lowered their price targets. Shares of the company were down about 23% year to date, as of Wednesday’s close.

2024.05.16 16:14 ValuableVisibleshit From iphone 11 to s23/23 ultra?

Hi, another iOS user thinking of going back to android. My iphone 11 has been suffering from a lot of lagging and battery issues (77% max capacity), even though I love its camera.
The latest iphones have been extraordinarily expensive in my country, and apple has dropped the ball hard with the 14 and 15 - overpriced and boring shit all around.
So this made me reconsider going back to Android, cause there has been a drop in the prices of s23, mainly the 256/512gb models. Last Samsung i had was an A30 and it left a sour taste in my mouth - phone lagged a lot after one year of use. Are Samsung's flagships like that also?
Do you guys think it's still worth it to get an s23 coming from an iphone 11? Would it also be worth it to wait a little and get the ultra version? I'd really like to try the S pen even though I know it's a gimmick lol and I don't like Xiaomi neither Motorola, so please don't tell me to get them lmao.
What I look for in a smartphone: - 120 hz OLED screen - good battery to last for a day - good performance, no stuttering and lagging - great camera, comparable to iphone 11 at least - longevity for at least the next 2 years - seamless integration with an affordable smartwatch/smartband (i love exercising and i miss my broken used Apple watch but I'd never pay what they're charging for the new ones lmao) - good performance for gaming and emulation would be a plus
I THINK the s23 has all these things and the Galaxy watch 6 has been getting cheaper in my country to top it all off. Do you guys thinks I'd miss the mark here or would I make a good choice? You can be brutally honest.

2024.05.16 16:11 Ok_wow_yeah Pricing question: labor + parts + repair??

Pricing question: labor + parts + repair???
Does any other cycling shop you know, break things down to labor + materials + repair? In all my years, I’ve only seen labor + materials. I dropped off my E bike to a small new shop, provided the new sensor, was told it was $80 an hour for labor (and they confirmed it took an hour) but I’m really confused by the final invoice. Them being rude about my questions isn’t helpful too. I would love some input.
Note: I’m in Texas, the bike brand is Wing from NYC, and to compare, I had called Wing’s recommended NYC bikeshop and they verified that their price to fix was $80/hr and would be an hour, maybe 30min
Below is the breakdown. When questioned, they then just merged it together and said it’s $120. Thanks
— Electrical minor repair or inspection, level 1, requiring removal of 1 cover, escutcheon, or other part bike, bicycle, ebike, or scooter shop service labor $40.00
Labor Hourly - Removed crank arms on both sides - unscrewed bottom bracket on drive side - Replaced pedal assist sensor with new one - Reinstalled bottom bracket and crank arms - Used original sensor cable to pull the new sensor cable trough the frame to the controller - Installed new sensor cable to the controller - Reinstalled the controller cover and installed the battery - Test rode, bike is now working as designed. $80.00

Jobmaster 4 mo. Review
I came home to these on my doorstep after completely forgetting about them…. They are Wesco’s remember…. I’ll admit at first I didn’t want to wear them to work they looked so good, but I did. Never in my life have I had more compliments about something on my big ole feet. My wife even laughs now when asked “did you get new boots?” Everywhere, it really is almost comical at this point. At first I was skeptical, the arch is a bit forward compared to Hathorn packers and not as high. The boot seemed to roll forward when I walked some also. But these boots are nice I’m normally a B width, but you take what you can get, Ds in this case(they’re Wesco’s remember lol) honestly they fit perfectly no slip and plenty of toe room. The sole has more give than expected, I’m normally in these from 5a to 9p and I don’t have one complaint, except everybody asking about my new boots. So in my opinion YES! they are worth the wait, and in 16 months or so you’ll probably forget about the price.

2024.05.16 15:51 Legitimate_Milk_6487 Broadband through comparethemarket – issue with activation date

Hi I'm not sure if that's okay to post here but since it's comparethemarket I figured it might fit. I signed up for a broadband deal with sky through compare the market today: slightly cheaper and a voucher after 3 months.
Well, the only issue is that it did not give me an option to pick an activation date and after it was confirmed suddenly showed me the 24th, which is too early. I called sky up and while the first person I spoke to said no problem, it's just taking a while so I'll change that off the phone for you, I called back again to adjust the date and suddenly I'm being told that it cannot be done as I signed up online.
The issue is that the activation date overlaps with when the family currently in the house is still living there and I am also not comfortable sending the hub to be delivered there while other tenants are moving out. I spent a good while on the phone and while the people I talked to seemed nice enough, there wasn't really a solution. I was told to cancel and sign up through their website or by phone, but they wouldn't price match me or anything. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and confused by this and could use some advice.
Another thing the last person told me is that I shouldn't have been able to get that deal as I'd been with them until last fall which apparently isn't long enough of a break, but I talked to customer service several times before I signed up and despite mentioning the circumstances and them looking at my account, it was never noted as a problem.
I feel a little frustrated that I followed common practice when signing up for broadband and was given no indication of this issue, but now I'm stuck with this problem because somehow sky offers a service they have no control over?
One customer service assistant told me to contact compare the market, but I don't know if that would help as I am ultimately a customer with Sky
Sorry for the longer post. I have no idea what to do now. Thank you for any thoughts.

2024.05.16 15:50 ChazArrows Nissan 370z vs Evo x

I’m torn between these two cars, I know its hard to compare the two but I’m looking for opinions. Whatever I buy is somewhat of a daily driver, I have a company vehicle that takes me to and from work so it is really just for the running around I do outside of work. I’m worried about reliability in the Evo but I plan to keep it fairly stock other than maybe exhaust and some cosmetic things. The Z I would do the same. I have found both with roughly same mileage and price. Any thoughts or recommendations on either? I currently daily a charger rt and I’m just ready to change it up.

2024.05.16 15:45 Slahnya The content drop is a bit too slow

Hello,
Firstly, I would like to point out that I already have 1100 hours on TCM, so to say that I love the game is an understatement, I love collecting cars, modifying them, I love listening to the engine sounds, most of which are very nice and you can modify them as well ! The Grand Races are fun, the summits are interesting, the custom show is also something that I really like (even if you have to substitute your favorite customization to "fit the general atmosphere" in order to win)
But when I compare TC2, I must admit that the races, the events are much more numerous, so I know that the game is several years old, but I'm afraid that TCM will never reach this level of diversity, what do you think? For example this week, new summit, the races are interesting, the price is the usual vanity object (which are cool and allow you to do very exaggerated but fun customizations) but the playlists, the stories, the additional activities like taxis, photo quests are rare. I was hoping the game would become a little more Live Service, I feel like they aren't really working on this game when with a little effort it could really become a solid car game for years to come. So this post is a bit useless but I wanted to share my feelings!
(Oh and btw, a 4-hour maintenance to put 30% off a vehicle that EVERYONE owns because it's mandatory to finish the game... how can I put it?)

2024.05.16 15:42 Earth_Omnius BB58, Would you choose San Martin or Cronos.

BB58, Would you choose San Martin or Cronos.
Hi
I will be buying a new daily watch and BB58 looks good to me. I'm thinking only between San Martin and Cronos. Since it is quite higher price than my usual Steeldives, I would like to ask for people's experience with them.
They are around the same price. Cronos is 1mm larger, better for me. Also has PT5000. Higher beat looks nice and so far I had 2 good ones, but reliability might be a bit of a gamble compared to NH35.
SM has red ceramic bezel and I like this color and don't have any reds so far. Better looking bracelet and blue lume are also positive.
I think I'm leaning towards SM, but Cronos has higher beat movement. But I'm also not sure if just the movement on Cronos is enough compared to SM's positives.
So what do you think, San Martin or Cronos? Any good or bad experiences with any of these watches?
Thanks.

2024.05.16 15:36 jmillsjmills [QUESTION] MSCI World Volatility - High in USD Terms but Low in GBP Terms

Here's one for you. MSCI World is obviously an index containing c1500 stocks globally, with two thirds of the index weighting being in US stocks.
Here's a question: why is the absolute risk of MSCI World persistently lower for GBP total returns (11.71% over 3y), compared to USD (17.04%).. You can see those numbers in these official factsheets:
MSCI World Index (USD)
MSCI World Index (GBP)
I can't quite follow it. I have the facility to calculate local terms returns (3y vol of these = 15.6%), and also to look at these USD and GBP 3y numbers on a rolling basis going backwards. USD (blue line) is consistently above GBP vol (orange line)... Only over the financial crisis do the two lines switch over (i.e. pre-crisis it consistently was GBP > USD).
Surely this isn't as simply as saying USD has been inherently more volatile. Isn't it more to do with the composition of the MSCI World index being two thirds USD stocks and the role that fx translations therefore have in calculating each monthly return (i.e. MORE of a role in GBP returns, and LESS of a role in USD).. So in USD index, have more raw exposure to local prices only. Whereas GBP vol could be lower where two thirds of index is USD stocks, so all have same USD/GBP move impacting return - so less dispersion/lower vol?
Thoughts appreciated as it's messing with my head a little that there should be such a big disparity!

YouTube Premium Pricing for Nepali Subscribers is Expensive
I wanted to subscribe to YouTube Premium but I was surprised to see that Nepali subscribers are forced to pay in US Dollars instead of Nepali Rupees.
And the price is quite expensive compared to how much Indian subscribers pay. So I'm requesting YouTube to adjust price for Nepali market by sending feedback to YouTube by:
  • Going to youtube.com
  • Clicking profile icon at top right corner
  • Clicking Help -> Send Feedback -> Send

I encourage fellow Nepali YouTube users to share their feedback as well.
Together, we can advocate for a more accessible YouTube Premium experience in Nepal.

2024.05.16 15:31 Ok_wow_yeah Pricing question: labor + part + repair??

Pricing question: labor + parts + repair???
Does any other shop you know, break things down to labor + materials + repair?
