I waited for final release, didn't want to install beta. Finally got around to downloading iMazing 3 and installing on MacOS.
The install offered to "replace" or "keep".
It renamed the old to "iMazing 2.app".
When I open iMazing.app, dated today, it nevertheless open iMazing 2.
How to fix?

Sorry this is not directly related to NX, but we are an NX customer and figured some of my fellow NX users would have the need for this viewer too and could lend a helping hand on how they sourced it. I had deployed version 13 to my staff - they are reporting it has been crashing and unable to open some files (and our OEM that sent us the file is Siemens - funny huh?) I am trying to get the latest free version of JT2Go - I don't need the $300/year version that you can do markups.
I cannot find the download link from Siemens - it sends me to a page to contact their support staff. I checked my GTAC support site - cannot find it there either.
I did go forward and contact the sales team hoping they could point me to the software and this is literally their reply:
The version is theoretically available on 3rd party pages only. Unfortunately we do not have a Siemens page to download it from safely.

I want to preface this by saying that I know that all resources for this mod and related modlists are provided for free and I deeply appreciate that. Nothing against anyone who put all this stuff together, I just want to know if I'm the only one whose spent hundreds of hours getting nowhere or how any of you manage to follow these guides through to completion without ending up with a broken mess. I'm extremely demotivated after wasting my holidays on this.
You start with The Best of Times, which is a walk in the park. Really can't go wrong with this it's so well setup.
If you want mods on top of this, the standard advice seems to be to go through the Wasteland Survival Guide, which I did. It took me a couple days, but I managed. This process wasn't as smooth as The Best of Times, and it's not always clear if I'm supposed to skip a mod I already have or install it again to overwrite something else. The STARS portion of the guide is a little trickier though, and although it's listed as optional, it's also referred to as a gold standard, so I didn't want to skip it. It's easy to miss the installation instructions for STARS because they're on a separate website that the guide does not link to, and the Nexus page for STARS is quite chaotic. Regardless, I made it through all of those two and towards the end it recommends the New Vegas Visual Renewal, and this is about where everything goes wrong.
Even though NVVR says it's compatible with TTW and includes notes for TTW users throughout, the install notes are not as detailed as the previous guides and in some cases the user is left to best determine what the instruction means based on what is on the nexus pages of individual mods. The STARS thing comes up again, a lot of mods from earlier are re-downloaded and overwritten. Regardless I followed all of this to the T right to the end of Renovation, but now it's time to generate LODS. This is another point where it all goes pear shaped.
The VNV LOD Guide is the recommended guide for LODS that NVVR gives us, though it doesn't seem like it includes any LOD patches for thing we did as part of NVVR, and in some cases overwrites things that we did specifically for NVVR. We were warned earlier about Tree LODS but told to install those anyway at the end, and Terrain LOD is listed as optional but we definitely changed terrain LOD stuff during the NVVR. But the official TTW guidance for LOD generation is again to ignore Tree LODs and in addition to all that, NOT to generate a terrain LOD (which I already did and which took 8 hours! It says it will take a long time, it does not specify in the region of 8 hours!) because this will destroy the default, hand painted and optimized LODs.
So now I don't know what to do. I've done this whole process over multiple days and it takes a lot of mental energy to concentrate on all the stuff I need to remember whilst proceeding with each step and all the stuff I need to come back to or keep considering. To make matters worse, I tried to go back to the WSG, but in the last week that got a massive update and looks nothing like the WSG I just installed, and if I start over, I don't even know if the NVVR will be compatible this time or if I have to generate new LODs. How do you guys manage this? How does it not break you?
EDIT: It seems my most reasonable course from here is to start over with the new updated WSG. Is there anything I need to know about properly cleaning my files before I do this? Or should I just go for one of the Wabbajack TTW packs at this point?

I haven't played football manager for a few years now but back during Covid when I had free time I had an incredible save with Everton winning the league and champions league routinely and becoming a global superpower.
Anyways when I tried to go back onto the game after a couple of years without playing it wouldn't let me. Somehow the game got uninstalled and it is not available to download on my steam account (It even appears on Steam that I haven't purchased the game even though I did back during lockdown). Luckily I still have the save files on my computer in order to play it if I'm able to get a copy of it again.
Is there anywhere else I could get that version of the game? Or if anybody has any recommendations about how I could fix my steam I'm all ears.

For my personal Mac, I stayed with a 2009 MacBook Pro until 2019, even though I was stuck at El Capital 10.11.6. Since I don’t download apps from untrusted sources, my chances of being exposed to malware are low.
When I upgraded, to a 2019 MacBook Pro which came with Mojave, I did it because various websites (including financial websites) were warning me that my version of Safari would soon stop being supported because it didn’t support current security standards.
While I could have gained perhaps another year by switching to Chrome, I had compelling reasons to use Safari. And since Safari was no longer being updates for my OS, I bought a new Mac.
(Since I manage fleets of Macs for a living, I always have access to a “work” machine on which I run the latest OS, because I have to support users who are also using that OS, and it’s important to be able to understand their work OS environment.)

Hey all, I’ve just given my iMac to my dad(pensioner) and bought a 15” MacBook Air. What’s the easiest/lightest way to remote in to his new iMac, preferably with unattended access? I’ve tried Nomachine, but it seems overly complicated and I wasn’t too impressed with the picture scaling quality. I’ve also looked at Anydesk. Quality looked better, but it seems that unattended access isn’t possible on the free plan. Just looking for the simplest option. I use Tailscale, so will connect over that. Does MacOS not just allow me to VNC in with my dad’s account?

TLDR: my computer stopped working and even after replacing the motherboard and CPU with exact (new) matches, it still didn't work.

-I had left my computer on over night to run through a task and then it was scheduled to automatically turn off when done, I've done this hundreds of times over the past few years with no problem. -next morning the computer would start up and get to a black screen with a white swirl and my mouse. I could hit the shift key 5 times to bring up that pop up window. -This issue had happened once before, and I solved it by doing a system restore and then updating the graphics driver (I don't know if the graphics driver is relevant, but I'm superstitious at this point). It worked, computer booted up and I could get into the system. I went to download the new graphics card driver, but I noticed the CPU was churning at 70-100% even without starting to download. I went to troubleshoot and both firefox and chrome weren't accessible (the system prompted me to remove their icons as they couldn't be accessed?). I got a bit spooked, and wrongfully thought I'd just restart my computer and try again. -But we were back to the black screen and white swirl. And when I tried to do a system restore again, the point I'd used previously no longer existed. -After much hair pulling, I tried to do a factory reset, both from the Windows USB and the computer itself, neither would even let me do it. -At the point, I knew I was in over my head so I sought out an expert. They initially said it was the motherboard, so we got a new motherboard (same model), and it still wasn't working. But they said the computer was lurching at the CPU point, so they said it could be the CPU--so we got a new CPU. Only to discover it's still not working. The repair folks suggested it is likely the line of motherboards being faulty. I don't understand this (but as noted I'm not particularly tech savvy), as the old motherboard worked for nearly three years without issue and this new motherboard never worked. But the repair folks were incredibly patient and diligent, so at the very least I appreciate them dealing with me as I went through several of the five stages of grief and a mental breakdown spiral realizing the last time I backed up my computer. -The repair folks said they even tried it with different SSD cards, different graphics cards, they said they tried every configuration of new and old parts and it still wasn't booting up properly.
At this point I'm getting the computer back with a new motherboard but the old CPU. In a perfect world, I would greatly appreciate any troubleshooting suggestions--would buying an entirely new motherboard from a different company be viable? Are there any next steps I can try on my own? Honestly, I really just want the files off the SSD cards. I bought an SSD enclosure to plug into my laptop, and saw it had 500 gigs used on the SSD, but I wasn't able to access anything beyond the public folder (every other folder just came up empty). I have the passwords for my accounts, so that isn't a problem. The repair folks mentioned in order to get the SSD cards working, I might need to get a similar motherboard, I don't understand the logistics of that, so hopefully someone can explain further?

Arkane were one of my favorite developers out there. Dishonored 1 and 2 are among the best games I´ve ever played and Prey: Mooncrash is an amazingly brilliant little game.
I was looking forward to Redfall the moment I heard of it. Sure, making a multiplayer looter shooter seemed a little odd for Arkane Austin, but I figured innovation and experimentation lies in trying out weird new stuff, and while also not initially sold on the concepts that tie Mooncrash together, after trying it, I have to say it´s mechanically probably the best game they´ve put out so far (despite preferring the art, music and setting of the Dishonored series). So, despite already owning a PS5, I decided to purchase a Series X: I would get all the Dishonored games "for free" on GamePass, plus get to play Arkane´s future exclusives.
When Redfall came out and saw the whole debacle and read the reviews, I was bummed out. I tried the game for 5 minutes, saw it was janky and messy, and figured I wouldn´t ruin it for myself nor ask for a refund. I´ll wait it out: they´ll have to come around and fix it, and once that is done, it still won´t be Arkane´s greatest game, but I´ll try it as a finished product and evaluate it on its own merit. After all, if No Man´s Sky, a game made by 17 people at a tiny company could redeem itself and churn out an at least decent product then surely Arkane, backed by the might and wealth of Microsoft, could at least fix the game... I swore to not touch the game until they fixed it.
And so I waited... for over a year I waited, only to find out there will never be a finished product. They would never deliver on the things they promised. Hell, there would never be an Arkane Austin again... All those brilliant artists and game designers, fired...
So, seeing that finished product would never come, I decided to sit down and play Redfall as it currently stands. To at least see what parts of that Arkane DNA shined through a problematic product. This is my experience with it:
I boot it up, create a new character and start a new game. My first thought is that they seem to have fixed or tweaked the default camera movement. It still doesn´t seem perfect, it still seems a little too fast, but it seems better. Second thought is: wow, the Arkane character design and environmental art is like a cup of hot chocolate. This may be a messy, unfinished, janky game, but it still looks beautiful and the world looks somewhere between cartoon and realistic and brimming with magic and mystery.
I leave the ferry and make my way up towards the fire station. I evade some cultist goons. The stealth seems simplified and a bit silly but I don´t care, I´m enjoying myself. I get to the fire station, shoot up some goons outside. Again, the shooting is pretty simple, not brilliant, but I love the lighting and evironments, I love the little notes I find scattered around. This is nowhere near the MONUMENT that Dishonored 2 is, but it still feel´s like mommma´s cooking. I feel right at home.
I enter the fire station, clear up the various rooms and I´m told there is a vampire down in the basement. I get down there and I can see its shadow projected onto the floor as it devours its prey in an exaggerated fashion as it speaks in a "spooky", campy voice. Lol, so silly, I approach it from behind and fire my shotgun into it. Suddenly it zips to my left, then to my right, I´m searching for it with my flashlight, I realize that even though the game is campy and silly my heart is racing and I´m loving it. The vampire is upon me and I fire several shots into it, hitting a few and missing a few, and then I finally impale it and exhale a sigh of relief.
THIS IS BRILLIANT! I´m gonna tell my friends to download this. I love playing coop and this game may be unfinished and janky but it´s still gonna be a lot of fun!
I take on my first mission and leave the fire station. I think to myself: I need to save! Wait... What?!? I can´t save?!? Oh, right! This is one of those ALWAYS ONLINE games... Arkane Austin was days away from releasing a much requested offline mode but now they never will... Damn...
Ok, so the game will save itself at certain checkpoints... Well, that sucks but let´s roll with it. Let´s try to find those crashed helicopters.
I make my way down the spooky street, past broken-down ambulances and corpes strewn about and then all of a sudden...
I lose connection to the server and I´m back at the main menu...
Shit... I was having so much fun... This broke my immersion big time but I was having so much fun... Let´s get back inside.
I´m back in the fire station basement. Head upstairs, out onto the street, make my way down the spooky street, past broken-down ambulances and corpes strewn about. I reach a strange pillar and find a group of cultists around it. I easily put them down but a vampire is drawn to the gunfire. It drains my blood and almost kills me, but I manage to back away and heal. Now it´s coming towards me at full speed, I shoot it as it comes towards me and then... I lose connection to the server and I´m back at the main menu...
This time I´m slightly less enthusiastic to rejoin the game...
I´m back in the basement of the fire station, I head upstairs, out onto the street, make my way down the spooky street, past broken-down ambulances and corpes strewn about. I kill the goons and a vampire, I keep walking down towards a group of dimly lit houses only barely illuminated by a TV set emanating the speech of some monstrosity. It´s all very atmospheric and nice. And then I lose connection with the server again...
Fuck this game. I tried to enjoy it on its own limited terms, but even there it failed me.
And above all: FUCK MICROSOFT. I bought an Xbox when I heard they were purchasing Bethesda, the owners of Arkane, the best company for my favorite genre out there: immersive sims. Microsoft has all the money in the world, I want to see what comes out of this! Turns out they only bought the company to downsize? Should have never purchased Bethesda in the first place then. Fuck MS and fuck Xbox, crappy greedy company run by incompetent idiots lacking a clear vision for how to stand out in the videogaming market.

I'm almost done with high school and finally get to move away, thank god. As much as I like being alone I'm so scared of the world (not adulting, just the actual world) and feel like I belong absolutely nowhere. Parties are evil, don't talk to x person they have green hair, "look what she's wearing, stay away from her". I know a lot of things my parents engrained in me are irrational and I'm very aware how stupid it is, but I feel like an imposter walking around and it's only a matter of time before everyone realizes I'm literally just a kid that never grew up in an adult's body. I've never done anything and I have no childhood memories. Everything is so scary. Even talking to a single person. I legitimately expect them to leave me with no warning. If they invited me to hang out with them I would be hypervigilant about the environment we're in, making sure they don't do anything "bad" or use "bad words" (Yeah, I'm messed up... but I wanna stress the difference between me not actually caring what they do and knowing it's fine, versus knowing my parents would be flipping out and feeling an awful combination of shame and guilt and fear).
My family never tolerated anything. I wasn't allowed to have social media my entire life, so I couldn't really connect with anyone at school. No sleepovers ever, and I have to be tracked on my phone all the time. Therapy is bad, animal rights are pointless, sex is not okay and you're more noble than everyone else if you don't care about it (wtf..). Wasn't allowed to watch Harry Potter until I was 16 and Netflix was never allowed in the house. I downloaded a free shooter game on my PC once, my mom found it while snooping, and she flipped out. The clothes I was allowed to wear up until high school literally made me look like a little boy. My sister still has to go to school wearing almost knee length shorts and it looks so bad. I was never really shown basic hygiene stuff like showering everyday, needing to brush your teeth twice a day, etc. Never even suggested I wear deodorant until I was 13/14, I didn't even know people were walking around wearing it and that's why they didn't smell so bad. My parents just kind of let me figure it out. I looked really bad in middle school and in 7th grade I sat down at a table with people that usually let me sit with them, but that day they all just got up and left at the same time and everybody saw it.
My social anxiety is through the roof from isolating myself so much. I remember one day in high school I kind of made a friend and she told me where she sat at lunch, so I went to find her. As soon as I stepped into the lunch room I just wanted to run back out because the anxiety I got was so intense. All these people probably hate me. They're better than me. They have more friends than I do. They have a more interesting life than I do. Now imagine feeling that same feeling when you walk past a single person your age in public. I wish I never existed.
I feel like my life has been set back a decade or two, and that's only the best case scenario if I try really hard to catch up. I'm glad I'm never coming back, but I'm also so depressed right now. Everyone gets to be normal except for me.
