2024.05.15 19:22 runhusky Initial PFL Payment and NOC

Hi,
I filed paperwork for PFL on 4/21/24 to start on 4/21/24. The Notice of Computation was issued on 4/30/2024 stating that I am claiming PFL starting 4/21/24.
When I call the PFL number they state that my most recent payment is for 4/30/24-5/13/24 and authorized on 5/14/2024, which leads me to several questions I’m hoping to get answered.
  1. Does this mean I miss out on payment from 4/21/2024-4/29/2024 or will that 9 days of pay show up later on during my PFL?
  2. If the payment is reported as authorized on 5/14/2024, when should I expect the money to actually show up in my account? When I was on SDI, it would always show up the following day, so I was a little surprised to see nothing in my account today, unless I should assume that the 3 week waiting period might be next week.
Any advice would be appreciated. I tried dialing 1-3-1-3-0, but I don’t think I did it correctly, as the automated recording said that I entered an invalid number and prompted me to set up my PIN.
Thank you!

2024.05.15 19:22 DapperHovercraft2457 Inside Sales Rep Remote Questions

Hello all, I recently applied to the above position and I have some questions about what to expect from the role.
I am currently an account representative in a State Farm office, my primary focus is intended to be Sales, but it ends up being 90% Service (Back and forth with Underwriters, taking payments, assisting with claims, etc.) Can I expect this position to be similar?
When I take an inbound call, is it a warm transfer from a lead provider or a customer that has made a conscious effort to call Allstate specifically or both?
How many calls can I expect in a typical 8 hour shift?
What does my time between calls look like? Do I have time to gather myself or is it back to back?
Do I do any service work?(Adding coverages/endorsements, answer current policy transactions)
Are the inbound callers current or new business or a mixture?
The Commission System: I hear it is based on a points system, does anyone have a better explanation of this system? Ie, how many points for a Personal Auto, Homeowners, PLUP etc.?

2024.05.15 19:22 SeanHagen Upgrading battery capacity on UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

Hey all, I made a post about this a couple of days ago, and I just realized that the body of text didn't post correctly for some reason, hence the lack of responses haha.
It was a long post and I'll be happy to fill in the details or answer any questions, but the TLDR is that a friend gave me this APC Back-UPS 450 because the battery was dead. I'm wondering if, rather than replacing the stock 12V 5Ah battery, if I can instead use a 12V 35Ah battery. I'm just getting into electronics, so I don't have a ton of experience or knowledge. But I have a 3D printer and lots of electronic parts, and I intend to print a new case for the UPS's electronic components, complete with heatsinks, cooling fans, and adequate venting in order to mitigate any issues that may arise from the extended runtime that will be incurred, beyond the runtime for which the unit was designed.
Will this be enough to address all of the potential issues, or are there other considerations that I'm missing? Will the charger still perform as expected with this larger battery, etc.? Thank you very much for any advice! I'll refrain from adding all the bells & whistles to this post so that the text body hopefully posts this time, but here is the link to my unit: https://www.apc.com/us/en/product/BN450M/apc-backups-450va-120v-6-nema-outlets-2-surge-battery-is-not-user-replaceable/
And the batteries are lead-acid batteries that are common to these "disposable" UPS units. Here is the larger one that I plan on using, and the original stock replacement battery is just a smaller 5Ah version of this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K8E0WAG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

2024.05.15 19:21 Immediate-Ask-2597 AITA for saying saying my cousin's gf is not even my type?

My cousin's girlfriend...
This is kind of a weird spot to be in, I[20M] was hanging around with my cousin[20M], his girlfriend[19F] and some friends just smoking and drinking, They were asking eachother questions and my cousin out of nowhere asked me if I like (his girlfriend's name) I was caught off guard so much so I chocked on my drink, I then answered with nothing but honesty and said "Nah she ain't even my type" the whole friend group went crazy with my response but my cousin's girlfriend was the only one that stayed silent, I know im not but ever since I answered that question I can't help but feel like I hurt her feelings or something, I've caught her a few times taking glances at me but I haven't thought much of it, And she didn't even respond to any of my questions for the rest of the night which is rare considering we're usually talking when we're together, What does this mean? Why is she reacting like this? I'm so confused and lost in thoughts, Can someone help me out here?
I've never been in a relationship due to my focus on my education so I'm not an expert with figuring out girls emotions...
My cousin was totally cool with the answer and he acted normal for the rest of the night so I don't think he was affected by my question however I can't

2024.05.15 19:21 AmRambo I work with EasyCare shoes applied with superglue AMA

Happy to answer any questions/commets/concerns about using shoes applied with superglue. The two from Easycare are the Octo and the 3D. I found the 3Ds work best on very strong feet, but require a pad for stability - which they do make - for horses with weaker structures. These shoes MUST be placed far enough back for breakover or you risk extending leverage due to the added vertical height.
My education is from the teachings and theories of Daisy Bicking, Yogi Sharp, Pete Ramey, Dr. Robert Bowker, and Jim Ferrie shoe placement for 50/50 split around the center of rotation.
Obviously the photos are not all the exact same angles but you get the idea. Horse pictured here shows 9 months between photo 1 on the left to photo 4 on the right. I'm also NRC Plus (national research council) certified in Equine Nutrition via Dr. Eleanor Kellon.

2024.05.15 19:20 Bathroom-Narrow Fictional areas of fighters

(sorry if misunderstood the community and if the post isn't fitting the subreddit)
so I am working on a new card game, multiverse battle cards (bought card like materials and made a whole deck of all Total Drama Island participants as my first card game). just the thought of a deck of cards containing everything fightable, from Heavy Metal Bands through Films to Wrestling. the game itself is a 32-men tournament
to elaborate here I'll go into more details about the cards if one is interested: 4 stats (Power, Agility, Tactics, Stamina) each characters gets his stats with trying to keep the results between random and logical. some cards (mostly weaker ones) also have abilities such as: creating zombie minions from last opponents to serve as a shield disabling one loss. 50% for double tactics stat.
in the game itself for each round a random stat is chosen to decide who wins. there will be 3 sets of tournaments, to decide each fighter's ranking, showing his prestige across the multiverse (so first place in 2 rounds out of three is S++ tier, first place earns you S+), the lower your placements are the lower your tier is (S++ A+ B C-).
now tiers mostly are for the prestige and prettiness of the cards but they can also play a role in deciding a winner in case of a draw, and possible future uses (such as byes in future tournament as returning contestants).
I can share my first group for the first tournament, as of now I am in the process of choosing their stats and abilities.
so now for the data, the large fictional areas as I organized it:
games (video/mobile)
show series (animated/filmed)
movies (fantasy/horror)
hero-villain (marvel/dc)
anime (big ones: Naruto/One Piece/DragonBallZ)
wrestling (wwe/ufc)
of earth's history (metal bands)
urban myths (mythology/creepypasta)
what do you think about my idea? just flipping a card and being able to see characters from so many places sounds FUN.
do you think I missed any fictional areas? or have any other suggestions for the game.
feel free if have any questions about the game or card making processes.
last conclusion: it feels weird after 'consuming' most of fiction, like you took a step and now you're in a different universe distanced from everything.

2024.05.15 19:20 sheik_Tombouti Half the class cheated on one of the final exam

So I discovered on Monday that my college students had devised a scheme to cheat during one of their final exams.
Without going into details, their strategy could have worked but special circumstances allowed me to discover the deception. In fact, they had two exams on the same day, am and pm. As I had some time in between, I started correcting the papers and saw some complex answers from some students that really surprised me. On closer inspection, I quickly became convinced that the fact that the students knew some of the most advanced information was impossible. Before the second exam, I verbally asked some students about the exam questions, in particular one student to come and write on the blackboard a very complex name that he had written perfectly just 2 hours earlier. None of them were able to answer correctly. During the supervision of the second exam, I quickly identified problem papers, and when the students concerned came to hand in their exams, I asked them a question they should have been able to answered. All failed, claiming sudden memory loss. One told me he couldn't answer because he was “one of those who cheated”. In the evening, I continued my corrections and understood their stratagem, which led me to conclude that about half the group had cheated. Even some of the best students.
I'm disgusted. By a strange coincidence, the courses were being distributed on the same day, and the only course I was offered was with the same group in the autumn. I accepted, but in hindsight, I think I'm going to give it up on that course, or even resign from the College. I've been teaching for just 5 years, and every year I find the students less and less interested. I like the conditions of employment, they are good for my field, but I don't want to be in perpetual confrontation with young adults or become a jaded teacher. Too bad.

2024.05.15 19:20 Successful-Act4779 Learning How to Be Handy As A Very Not Handy Person

My friends and I feel pretty dumb when it comes to basic repairs/maintenance around the house. Some of the things we wished we could do well are turning on and off the sprinkler system each season, basic drywall repair, hang curtains and blinds, wash windows, basic plumbing repair, change out a light switch, inspect the furnace and AC unit.
We're teaming up and hiring a professional technician to come teach us how to do these things in a group setting over the Summer. Instead of the technician just coming to the house and doing the job for us we're going to pay them extra to explain what they're doing along the way and answer our questions.
What kind of things would you want to learn how to do?

2024.05.15 19:19 srillpill Tailscale Port forwarding Public VPS -> Local machine

Hi all. I ask for help on this situation: I have a VPS with a public IP with Tailscale installed, I also have a computer at home with a web server running on port :80 and Tailscale installed. What is needed? need to do this: if a person goes to a public IP on port :80, then he is transferred to the web server port :80 on his home computer. Both ping via local ip via tailscale, tried to make the configuration via iptables - unsuccessfully.
UPD: I already asked a question in the thread directly from Tailscale, there was no answer yet, but there was advice to contact you here. Information: two interfaces ens3, tailscale0. When I change the iptables rules, namely forwarding, nothing is applied, but I can open the port.
need more information? Please ask questions, otherwise I can’t think of anything in my head right now, I might forget something :)

2024.05.15 19:18 elianisse PASSED! Here's how I did it:

This post is to share my study journey and maybe give someone who's on the fence or questioning themselves some perspective. I'll start off by saying I am a US-IMG from a Caribbean school and I just passed Step 1 on my first try. I am aware different students from different schools have different schedules, and I know mine is probably very different to most.
I started dedicated on January 2nd and took Step 1 on April 29th so I spent a total of almost 4 months studying. I studied from 8:00am until 4 or 6pm depending on the topic and how long it took me. I refused to study at night lol I hate it with every fiber of my being lmao. I studied 6 days a week with only one day off to spend with friends or family and decompress.
I only really did UWorld in tutor mode and untimed, because I only meant to use it as a study tool, not to test myself and I knew the scores would humble me lol. I've always been a good test taker and time management has never been an issue for me, thankfully so that was another reason as well. I did 2 blocks of 40 questions daily and I would review all of them and their explanations, regardless of whether I got it right or wrong because UWorld explanations are always helpful and I found there was always something that I didn't know in the paragraphs. I would supplement with First Aid when I thought I still didn't understand something or felt that I needed a more concise description of it. I finished all of Uworld like a month before taking Step 1 so I would just redo my incorrects in the topics I was consistently struggling with based on the NBMEs I would take. Here's my timeline and scores and how I used the NBMEs for learning and studying:
Jan. 24 - NBME 25: 45% Super humbling start lol. Had to search on here to see if it was one of the worst ones and most people agreed it was so that gave me peace of mind. It was also very heavy on anatomy, cell bio and genetics, which I hadn't even touched up until that point so I knew it was to very expected.
Feb. 26 - NBME 26: 59% I didn't expect for my score to increase so much so soon but it was a very pleasant surprise. I had reviewed my previous NBME (all the questions) and took the score report and did a ranking on disciplines and systems each from 'worst' to 'best' and adjusted my study schedule around those topics I did worst on and did lighter studying on those I was good on. I think this helped my score increase the most. I scheduled my school's CBSE for a month from this date based on this score, and increased my NBME frequency to one every two weeks instead of one a month.
Mar. 18 - NBME 27: 66% I was super happy with the result at this point. Didn't think I'd improve so much in just two weeks but I took that as a sign my study methods were working. Again, reviewed the test and ranked the disciplines and systems from 'worst' to 'best' and adjusted and rearranged my study schedule based on that. I also started comparing each ranking to the previous one from here on out, to see how much improvement I'd done in each discipline and system, if I remained the same or if there were any that had dropped in score. I took everything in consideration and adjusted based on what the scores were saying first and how confident I felt second. This was huge as well.
Apr. 1 - CBSE: 67% I'm not sure how it works in other schools but my CBSE happened at the testing center I was going to take the Step 1 at as well. It felt much harder than the previous NBME I'd taken and I felt like I didn't understand most of the questions but I was also sleep deprived (test center is 2 hours away from me so I had to wake up at 4am to avoid traffic, and anxiety didn't let me sleep much so I was on 4 hours of sleep total). Swore I had bombed it when I walked out but clearly I did much better than I thought. I scheduled my Step 1 based on this score for the end of the month.
Apr. 15 - NBME 28: 60% This absolutely terrified me and I started doubting everything. First time my score dropped since I'd started dedicated. I came on here to see what the general consensus was on this form and I found it was actually the hardest based on statistics on a youtube video from a counselor who helps med students in Step 1 prep. I calmed down and decided there was bound to be an outlier and so I took another a week after to really see if it was a fluke.
Apr. 22 - NBME 29: 70% It was a fluke confirmed lol. I had some peace of mind at this point based on my scores alone but I was still absolutely terrified regardless. What if it wasn't enough? What if all the questions on Step 1 ended up being on all my weakest topics? By this point I was so tired and burnt out and just wanted to get this all over with. I decided to trust the consistency of my scores above my feelings.
Apr. 27 - New Free 120: 73% I debated whether to take this one or not because I was so scared I'd to terrible on it and it would crush my confidence going into Step 1 in two days. I knew it was the most indicative of performance though so I had to do it. It felt so much easier than the NBMEs, it gave me even more peace of mind.
Apr. 29 - Step 1: PASS I was sleep deprived, again. I went into each block with the mentality that this was going to be the block that would save my score and make me pass. Quite a few gimmes, others that I truly wasn't sure if I had the right logic or not, but I ultimately trust my gut and knowledge and I do not change answers unless I am 1000% sure my choice was wrong or I missed something in the question that proves me wrong. Overall, I came out of it knowing I have it my best but also feeling VERY unsure. Thanks to this site, I knew this was normal and all that was left to do was wait.
I received my score this morning. Earlier than I thought I would get it tbh. I was terrified to open it but I did it and I couldn't be happier with the results. I hope this helps somebody and feel free to ask me any questions! Trust your scores and your knowledge, you guys got this!

2024.05.15 19:18 SoThenIThought_ Analogy: Initial eligibility Troubleshooting FAILURE and Escalation vs Appeal Prep

An initial eligibility statement is like a paper you have to write at the end of the quarter to pass a class. There's a teacher's assistant who will walk you through this paper because they have gone over this specific assignment tens of thousands of times. You will actually need to read some of the underlined material and apply it. But you can ask them questions at any time and the earlier that you asked for help the earlier the project is going to be. Also, they work directly with an award-winning Dean at a much more prestigious school who has worked on this exact course material for 20 years, and they can connect you with them to go over the material for free before you submit it, because the amount of time and effort it takes to review this is so small.
---- So you Pass ---
Escalation: The deadline for the paper wasn't really defined by the teacher, they said that it was sometime before the end of the quarter.
In this analogy, starting an escalation is akin to sending the teacher an extremely aggressive message to advance the deadline to as soon as humanly possible.
If the person hasn't done the project at all, or it is not complete, this is just going to end in failure extremely quickly.
If you just told the teacher to advance the deadline to as soon as humanly possible and you walk over to the teaching assistant and you tell them that...And ask for help on completing the project... are they going to want to help you or not? They already know you haven't read the material when you asked to advance the deadline. They know that you haven't spoken with them previously - and they only suggest this after you and them have got the entire paper 100% complete. They also know that any work they do could be instantly undone by the fact that the deadline could occur effectively instantly. They are probably going to blacklist you or otherwise severely restrict how much effort they're ever going to give to you.
----So You alienate your best resource. ---
Or, you don't do any troubleshooting about any eligibility issues: This is effectively like try to cr_p this project out based on sh_t you read on social media and not actually reading any of the material that's required to do the project.
You don't have any confidence or confidence that you're going to pass because deep down you know that you didn't actually read the material.
Often you didn't even really read the criteria for the project. You are literally making fake project not even understanding what the assignment even is, without having read any of the actual material.
Some people get the assignment and then immediately throw it in the trash and wonder why they fail. Some of them ask for help and the teachers assistant suggests for them to read a few analysis of the underlying material but the student tells them that that's too much work Or they just absolutely ghost the teachers assistant and never respond ...
------ So you fail... -----
And now in order to pass the class, you have to appeal to the principle for another chance.
Appeal Prep: The principal tells you that this project will now be performed by you live in person recorded in front of them, in front of an expert on the material who you've never met, and the principal and the expert are going to cross-examine you about what you read and what you are presenting, live in person. The principal is going to be sitting there, next to your teacher, and they're both going to have a copy of the assignment, and the exact criteria you need to meet within the assignment in order to pass this class.
Now you have to ask the teacher's assistant to help you do this project and then also adapt it to be performed live in person, in front of other people who you know are going to ask you cutting questions about what you are presenting, what extent you understood the material or concepts, etc. The teachers assistant cannot do this for you because they're working with other people on other projects.
You also become aware that you cannot do this presentation a second time, if you fail, you could only ask the superintendent of the school district to review the recording but you cannot introduce any new information.
Potentially, maybe you could pay the Dean to help you do the project, but they are extremely busy and this will take multiple hours so it's going to cost $.
Now the burden to pass the class has more than doubled and the total work required as almost quadrupled, and the total stress is magnitudes more.

----------

So this is why I would really just prefer to Have a regular conversation and go over the troubleshooting and guidance, get you a bomb-proof project, and then shoulder tap the teacher, 36 seconds after you put it in their inbox, And you would pass the class in about a week, not in 7 to 9 weeks from now.
I really really don't want to work with the student who is ugly-crying about how they think they're going to get kicked out of their house because they're about to fail this class etc, And then I have to explain to them all of these processes, undo whatever misconceptions they have in order to put correct information in, get them to read and absorb the information and apply it, and then start in on this in person, live presentation - knowing after having done this thousands of times that a person in such a state is typically significantly less capable of retaining information and therefore you're going to be asked the same questions over and over again and not actually make very much progress towards doing the presentation ... And they still may just randomly ghost you.
This is also why telling somebody to start an escalation when their post is something like "Project? can never get the teacher on the phone, What do I need to do? When am I going to pass this class?", and The Interim President of the Bad Ideas Club immediately stands up and screams "oh sh_t fam, just force them to advance the deadline!" When in fact they were taking the class as no credit (like a real actual layoff, and no other outstanding eligibility issues)

2024.05.15 19:18 Spirited-Shallot5188 AITA for calling CPS on my family

This is a long one so buckle in. When i was 16 my 22 year old cousin drove 14 hours to steal my boyfriend. They ended up having a son together within that year. The heartbreak I felt was extreme and I never fully recovered. For the last 17 years I was forced into repressing my emotions towards the whole situation. My family never gave me the ability or allowed me the respect to mourn the life I imagined. I was never allowed to be sad or upset, instead for 17 years I was simply told "get over it". My family never once cared to hear me out, or respected me enough to let me feel, or cared enough to understand my betrayal and anguish. I am now 32 and the family drama never ended. My Aunt (cousin's Mother) lives rent free at my Grandmas house with the understanding she is to "take care of her" but doesn't. A few years ago my grandma mentioned how she couldn't see out of her right eye, my aunts response was to wait it out. It wasn't until my own mother took my grandma into a doctor that we learned how bad it was, and it caused my grandma to lose her sight in that eye. When she was more mobile and active my mother and I would take her to breakfast or lunch to get her out of the house. This poor woman acted like she was starved. She would eat so much so fast. The times my mom or my uncle would go over, the house would be a mess and the food in the fridge would be old and gross. My mother years ago sold her house and moved from Texas to Washington to become power of attorney and saved my grandparents house. My grandpa passed a few years ago and shit went south, fast. My grandma got Alzheimer's disease and slowly forgot things. My family became greedy. One day my family went behind my mother's back to change gma's POA. They have proceeded to use my grandmas money, take over and ruin her house, one of my uncles has claimed her land, truck and trailer as his own, all while shes still alive I don't get to see her often now as shes not very mobile, and I am not welcomed at her house. This past weekend we believe my gma had a stroke. She was taken to the hospital where she spent a few days and the test came back well enough for her to go home Monday. I am worried about her. I don't believe my "family" is taking care of her. We thought her wrist was broken, we are not too sure about it currently but my aunt, whose job is to take care of her had no answers and or plans to get it looked at. Today I called adult welfare on them. I will hear back from someone in 24 hours. I am nervous and scared. Im already the black sheep and thats fine, but I know I just opened an entire new can of worms. At one point my cousin, who i struggle to hold a relationship with for obvious reasons told me "if your mom wants to hear about Grandma you better shut the F up because I did the right thing" So, am I the asshole for calling CPS on my family to protect my grandma?

2024.05.15 19:17 Shmuhlest Meyer Ultra X40/X20 + 750-LFC crossover questions

Hey y'all -
My venue got a good deal on a Meyer system right before I started as a tech director two years ago (nice surprise) -
We've got 2 x Ultra X40's + 2 x 750-LFC's as our main PA, and 2 x Ultra X20's as delays for the back area with a lowered ceiling. None of the boxes have the RMS remote monitoring module.
We did not purchase a Meyer crossover at the same time for some reason (seeing they're being sold for $13k CAD [~$10k USD] by a local Meyer dealer...?!) - all processing is being done through matrices on our full size X32 (driving a ferrari with a hot dog or w/e, i know). The X40's and X20's pairs are running stereo from the board, each being sent individual outputs (not looping out from the one box to the other), and then I've got my sub pair running mono from the board (one output being sent from the board to one 750-lfc and looping out of that box into the second one).
Two questions:
1) I'm finding it difficult to find information regarding these boxes crossovers in any Meyer documentation or elsewhere online - Is there an ideal crossover type/frequency that I should be aiming for? I've just been using my ear to find a suitable relationship between PA/subs & the room - currently have Butterworth 24dB slope @ 98hz as the crossover filter for all of the boxes. I understand these boxes are able to be used standalone without a crossover with their internal DSP, but I believe that requires me to loop each sub out of each X40 which wouldn't be ideal for having processing control - happy to be corrected here if I'm wrong.
2) My plan is to acquire an outboard crossover to manage the system. Primarily to protect the system from those with less experience when I'm not around, but also to allow a systems tech to tune the PA and lock the settings for my techs to show up and have an easier time mixing. Another hope is to be able to connect a rudiementary analog mixer to the processor so thatrenters of the space are able to safely play house music without a tech being present. Is it a waste of money to purchase anything but a Galilleo 408 to manage my speaker processing? Would another unit prove more useful considering budgetary restrictions/use-case? (and before the "your mixer is too shitty for a galileo to make a difference", my plan is to eventually upgrade it. one step at a time!).
Apparently a systems tech from Meyer was supposed to come by shortly after they were installed to tune the room for free but never did... and then he died so now that isn't an option? Not sure how he would tune the room without a crossover...
We're a 200 cap non profit community arts organization with a board of directors (not a lot of $$$ despite the Meyer system) so it's tough for me to propose a 13k purchase on a crossover without being fully confident that it's exactly what we need.
Thanks in advance y'all - I'm a self-taught live tech with a decade of experience - I know how to mix the hell out of a show, but admittedly, have a lot of gaps in my fundamentals. Always happy to be corrected and learn as I go!
