So this verse is extracted from 2 Thessalonians 2: 11-12
“For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”
I do understand why and i was wondering about the extent of not believing, what if people wanted to believe but didn’t feel like it was genuinely true? Like would God condemn them for just not truly believing? What is the “lie” and does it mean God would prevent them from truly repenting? or does it mean they already reject in their hearts and God does it ( sending a delusion).
I am a christian but i do understand it but still have trouble because i do empathise with the unbelievers, like especially those who don’t sin on purpose but don’t know Christ. Like not people who actively sin, and proclaim that Jesus is not God and those who truly delight in sin. Idk.

The will of God according to 1 Thess 4:3-8 - Abstaining from sexual immorality - Control of our bodies - Mindfulness in action - Devoid of pride or pretense - Motivated by love, honor, righteousness - In all these, alignment and to walk with the Holy Spirit in life
It is the will of God for us to abstain from sexual immorality, pride, revenge, and to be controlled by passions. We are to be directed by the Holy Spirit in all things. We know this to be true by the Spirit of Truth within us, but the “why”, I think is quite important.
Firstly, we need to recognize who and what we are. Then we can take a look at how we operate in our identity.
If we take a scripturally based Kingdom view to who we are, we can agree that we are sons and daughters of the Most High, heirs to the Kingdom and throne of God. (I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18) For our great benefit, we have a pretty awesome account of what it looks like to be a son (or daughter) of God in the Bible with the depiction of the life of Christ. For brevity and to be succinct I believe this verse in particular captures the purpose of a son (or daughter) of God quite well in Colossians 1:15: 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
Here we can see a clear picture of who we are in the Kingdom, and what that looks like. We are sons (and daughters) of the Most High, and our purpose is to be the image of the invisible God in the visible world.
So, how is this accomplished? To be the image of the invisible God to the visible world is undoubtedly beyond or power and ability. Fortunately for us, this is where sonship and being an heir to the throne of God comes in. We do not attempt to do this through our own power and ability, but rather in submission to the Most High’s Kingship - His Kingdom, power, wisdom, love, and all that resides within Him flows through us to the level of our submission to His Spirit. This can only be accomplished by our willing submission because the Spirit in which all love resides, does not insist on its own way.
Revelation 3:20 (NIV) Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
We are doorways more than we are beings. Sentient doorways that allow things to come and go, ascending and descending, based on our agreements and alignments. If we are controlled by passions, anger, sexual immorality, revenge, pride, and other earthly minded motivations - we are choosing to birth these into this world. In this we have chosen them instead of our God, in this we have chose to quench the Spirit, in this we have chose the outer darkness.

Therefore, whenever a temptation is set before me it might be to my benefit to realize that the choice I am about to make holds a gravity that spans between words. That the choice of choosing something other than the Holy Spirit to walk by is in essence choosing death, choosing blindness, choosing deafness, choosing muteness, and choosing violence against myself and my fellow man.

In the bible, many verses say that god is our father such as Isaiah 64:7. Why do Muslims claim that the god of the Quran is also the god of the bible and Torah when the Quran forbids you from calling allah your father and says we aren’t allahs children?

One of Christianity's core beliefs is the belief of predestination and free will. Not only are these the cornerstone of christianity but also one of the most debated viewpoints for theologians. Most Protestant denominations follow the views of predestination and the elect, while free will is the belief of Catholics. The Webster dictionary defines free will as the “freedom of humans to make choices that are not determined by prior causes or by divine intervention” while predestination is defined as “the doctrine that God in consequence of his foreknowledge of all events infallibly guides those who are destined for salvation”. Scripture shows that God is Omnipresent, Omniscient, and Omnipotent. Scripture also tells of God’s preaching of predestination and to humanities free will. In the Gospel Jesus Christ is shown to teach free will to humanity. This evidence proves that Predestination can exist in the world simultaneously with our own free will.
In Genesis 1:1-3, God created the heavens and the earth. In this scripture we can understand that God is all powerful. He is not held by matter and space, because he makes the matter and rules over the space. As well, he is the beginning and the end as seen in Revelation 22:12-13, “he is the Alpha and the Omega”. This refers to the beginning and end of the Greek alphabet and is a metaphor for God's unlimited age. He does not die and has been around for ever and ever. He is not held by time meaning he can be in the past, present, and future. Because God can see all, this means he knows all and knows the ends of our life (either salvation or damnation).
Not only does the bible prove that Predestination exists, it also proves free will exists through scripture. In Galatians 5:13, Jesus says, you my brothers were called to be free. Jesus means that we as God’s people are free from restraints and our lives are not scripted or shaped to God's will, it is our own will. This scripture can be confusing because of other biblical verses like 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, which states that God owns us in body and spirit, but this is referring to our physical bodies and spiritual souls which he has created and thus owns. We can look at the word owns being synonymous with the word creator. God created us from dust and dust we shall return but our lives in between are our own destiny. Likewise, Jesus preaches to the Jews in John 8:31-32, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We see Jesus showing the true nature and belief of God which is free will because Jesus is God's true nature. No matter if Jesus and God teach of two different things, they can never contradict each other because they are one alone. As Christians we try to make a human-like connection between these beliefs and come to the point of confusion but as humans were created to have confusion. Although harsh, God says, “For my people are foolish; they know me not; they are stupid children; they have no understanding.” in part of Jeremiah 4:22.
The Bible directly shows that God teaches predestination to his people through his divine revelation of scripture. The Bible also shows that Jesus preaches free will to his people through parables, sermons, and real life applications. Neither of them are lying or teaching heresy but instead display their own perspective to those who would believe. In the time of Jesus, people wanted to hear that they have free will (which they do) so Jesus preached of free will more often, which grew his supporters. God’s predestination would be heard by the original writers of the Bible through divine inspiration and revelation but as well hundreds of thousands of years later in the Bible. These two beliefs were able to come together through the old testament and the new testament to agree with one another instead of contradicting each other.
One argument against the previous statement is that the new testament is the fulfillment of the old testament, meaning predestination would be irrelevant and free will would be the fulfilled and true belief. I would say that if this was true, then every other belief we have like the 10 commandments in the old testament would be irrelevant as well and should not be taught. As well this would mean we should just read the new testament and ignore the old testament entirely. We have both for a reason, whether that be for reference or for historical truths.
In conclusion, even though they are frequently perceived as contradicting, the ideas of predestination and free choice are essential to Christian theology. Catholics emphasize free will, while Protestants usually emphasize predestination. Scripture, however, affirms both positions: Jesus' teachings in the Gospels support free will, while God's omniscience and omnipotence imply predestination. This apparent contradiction strengthens God's nature and His relationship with humanity and shows that human freedom and divine sovereignty can coexist accordingly with Christian beliefs. I would like to end with the verse Proverbs 16:9 stating, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” This one verse can single handedly solve this whole argument, so I would like you to ponder this verse as I end this thesis.

Today is such an amazing day! I was baptized, confirmed and had my 1st holy communion all in 1 mass! Here's my conversion story:
My family was Methodist but not devoutly religious. I was never baptized. I was familiar with His existence but I didn’t know Him personally. I never thought of death and the afterlife until my mother died. I was nine and that's when the idea of death and heaven crossed my mind. This wasn’t when I truly became devout.
Around 2020, I was on the internet, I saw that someone posted about hell and that's when I had the revelation that the life I'm living without God and the sins I was struggling with were not sending me to heaven. At that moment I stood up and asked my dad to get me a Bible. Around this time an online friend came to me and asked me to join his online church, which was a Fundamentalist Baptist Church. During this time, I listened to a lot of preachers who preached hate about the Catholic Church and I started to believe them. I swore to myself that I would never become Catholic. Eventually, I moved away from these preachers.
I had nowhere else to go and returned to the Methodist Church. I went to a local church, and I enjoyed the sermons, but I never felt fulfilled. At this time, the Methodist Church was splitting because of social issues. For a while I wasn’t in any denomination. I stopped going to church and seeking God. Around the 1 year mark of my conversion, someone asked me, “If modern denominations are starting to split up, think about what denomination has stayed together since the time of Christ?”
This started me thinking about history and how the Catholic Church dates all the way back to Christ. I started to research the Catholic Church and realized how much there is to it. In September of 2022, I signed up for Rite of Christian Initiation for Teens (RCIT). In October, I went to my first Catholic Mass and I remember being so nervous and having no idea what's going on but I loved it. The mass went by so fast and it was so engaging compared to the Methodist sermons. As the months went by, my love for the Virgin Mary grew because I saw her as my mother.
Then, on May 18th, I got baptized and it was the most amazing mass I've ever been too. I remember being nervous but once it started, everything went perfect. After being baptized and looking at the crucifix I felt like he was looking right back at me. I was also given the opportunity of being able to present the gifts which was really cool. Even though I didn't feel different in the mass, after the mass I felt like a million pounds were lifted off me and I had no worries.

Im coming to this Reddit because I’m honestly not sure how to handle this situation. It honestly makes me very sad and I feel like I’ve moved on and just want to move on with my life but my sister likes to drag me into drama.
For backstory I lived with my sister when I was 15. I slept on the couch and my mom slept in the spare bedroom. We had to move in there because we lost the house after my mom’s very messy and abusive divorce. I had been neglected for years at that point since I was 10 and my sister started to take care of me more than my mom had the time to. Which I loved at the time. She bought me clothes, spent time with me, etc. well after a few months she became less kind and more controlling. I was essentially the Cinderella of the household, needed to get straight As. She would scream at me if I dirtied a dish and if I let my shoulders show she would tell me to go pray to God. I had to memorize bible verses that were posted on my wall and recite them to her Etc.
I eventually became so stressed out I lost a ton of weight and was throwing up from so much anxiety. I also got my period twice a month from stress. I felt like I was always going to get yelled at or grounded; she really got in my head. To the point where I wasn’t allowed to talk to my mother alone, she would always be there to make sure I didn’t say I needed help. My mom noticed something was up and always would tell me we can leave if I want but I was always scared. Eventually it got to the point where I could swear my sister could tell what I was thinking. Looking back I was just very manipulated.
After dating my boyfriend (now Husband) for a while I realized I felt at peace at his family’s house. His parents were kind and I felt safe. I realized what I was going through really wasn’t normal so I told my mom I couldn’t take it anymore and I just wanted my sister to be my sister. My sister kicked me out at 17, told my mom she didn’t have to leave but I did. My mom and I moved into my friends bottom floor and rented a room. I eventually moved out on my own after I graduated and went to college etc. Also my sister sent me demand letters asking for $5k for the time she spent taking care of me and buying me food and clothes. The last I spoke with her I was saying I’m sorry and I hope we can still get along but she sent me lots of “F U” emails afterward asking for money.
Fast forward to now. I’ve been doing well, I’m married, we both have decent jobs and I’m very happy in life and I don’t think much about my past unless my mom or other sister brings it up. My husband and I are very in love after 8 years (total) of being together and enjoy traveling.
Anyway my sister 42f apparently talks about me to my other sister 32f and essentially hates me. My sister 32f told me today my 42f sister has been telling the whole family that I’m terrible and my husband is controlling etc. which gives me anxiety because honestly I don’t want to lose more family nor do I want to be seen as unkind. I’m trying not to stress about it because I don’t want to feel sick but it’s just hard. I have my grandmothers funeral coming up and it really sucks feeling anxious going to it and seeing her while also knowing others may hate me too. Any advice on how I should handle this?

This is a story I heard from my dad that his sister told him, I’d always heard it from him, but recently decided to get the story directly from her. Here’s a copy/paste of her description of events, all I’ve changed are the names of the people involved.
“This happened in the summer of 1991. (Boyfriend) and I helped one of his friends move to Moonstone, and (Boyfriend) had the big U-haul truck, we had stopped at Wasaga Beach and we were about to get locked in because the gates closed at dusk. So we were driving down the 400 towards Toronto, and the truck died, it was near the Aurora sideroad or exit. (I remember because it was the first time I'd ever heard of Aurora) (boyfriend) didn't give a crap about the truck so we just left it there and started walking, not hitchhiking. And you remember (boyfriend) had the long blond hair, he was mistaken for a woman many times, this gold car pulled over. It was dark by this time. The guy got out and asked where we were going, and said you'll have to sit in the back seat, he had a bunch of milk crates with papers on the front seat. It was a 2 door car so it's not so easy to get out of the back seat. I will swear on a bible that I seen a gun in his hand when I was getting in the backseat, (boyfriend) made him move his crates to the backseat and sat up front. I don't remember if he hold us his name but he started talking about his work and he said he was an accountant for Beckers and he lived in Scarborough. He did miss our exit on the highway, and (boyfriend) asked him what he was doing, none to politely. I don't know where he ended up dropping us off. He was kind of odd. I remember telling my Mom how scared I was when I saw the gun, (boyfriend) says he didn't see it.
When Paul Bernardo was arrested he had the same gold car, and was an accountant for Beckers. I have thought of writing him and asking him about it but never have.”
For those unaware, Paul Bernardo is probably the most famous serial killer in Canadian history. He was known as the Scarborough Rapist, The Schoolgirl Killer, and as “Ken” of the Ken and Barbie Killers.
I’ve done a little research, and Bernardo did drive a 2 door gold Nissan 240SX. He was an accountant, but I can’t find anything about him working for “Beckers”, although since he did freelance work he might have at some point, or just gave a different company name because he didn’t want to give out too much information. Found no record of him owning a gun, but it’s fairly possible he used a fake one to intimidate people.
Overall, I’d say a guy who looked just like Bernardo, drove the same kind of car, in the same uncommon colour, with the same career, in the same area as the killer, that’s quite a few coincidences… so, thought it was interesting enough to share. :)

I thought that I would see if AI could help in my Bible study prep. I wasn't expecting much. I had toyed with Chat GPT a year ago, and was unimpressed. In general, I don't like the idea of AI, and how it will affect this world.
But, to my surprise, I found AI to be amazingly helpful. I was blown away, actually. I'm sold on it. I will definitely be using AI in the future, to help prepare for Bible studies. It's a great tool.

I’ve been at my current pest control job for 3 months now. During the training process, my manageboss randomly asked me if I’m religious, to which I said “Yes I’m Christian”. Then proceeded to ask if I “Believe in Jesus” to which I said “Yes” and he responded “That’s good”.
With him being the only manageboss at the company, I expected him to keep inviting me to his church, but he’s only invited me twice. The other 3 employees in the company are also Mormon.
Yesterday I stopped by his house to pick up my paycheck, and he let me know he had “New Elders over for dinner to celebrate with my family”, and asked if I would stay for dinner, but I felt like I had no other choice but to say yes. Now we’re sitting at the table talking and my boss tells the Elders “Would you guys mind giving us a lesson”, so they pulled out the Mormon bible and some pamphlets then asked me to choose one.
I picked a card and then scanned the QR code on it which pulled out up verse, and they asked me to read the entire page. I did so and then the whole thing turned into a bible study.
Fast forward 30 minutes and the Elders asked for my number so they can text me later to talk about the verse I read. So I give it to them. Today they texted me again asking if I had time to reflect on the verse but I didn’t respond back.
My biggest fear is since they’re close to my boss they might tell him I’m ignoring them or whatever else, and I’ll end up losing my job. I really need a job right now because it’s hard to go anywhere else.
Does anyone else have experience with this sort of situation and have any advice to give? I’m actively applying to other jobs and hoping I don’t lose my current job before that happens.
(Also I forgot to add the job bulletin my mangeboss had online lied about the salary when I spoke with him. It said $1900 and at the interview he told me $1650. Then when I signed the employee agreement it said I agree to a salary of $1650 per paycheck… but my actual paycheck is only $1350 so he lied three times.)

I live in a small town, no car to travel far, and I'm looking for a church. Particularly a church that won't tell me or family members that my mere existence is a sin. All the churches nearby have their understanding of marriage (one man, one woman) and proper gender identities and I don't have much of a choice to travel to a farther church that has a more open view.
For y'all stuck with parents or stuck in a small town as I am, how do y'all deal? Do you just grin and bear the ignorant rhetoric and embrace the community aspect of meeting with brothers/sisters/siblings in Christ? I need help, trying to get my kids into a community but also don't want them absorbing hurtful theology.

context

I met my current Girlfriend on a videogame several years ago. We were young and dated for a week maybe and i got overwhelmed by her clinginess and we eventually parted ways for a few years, only messaging a few times here and there. We didn't learn much about each other, so we were aquainted strangers for a while.
I isolated a lot due to covid but also anxiety of going back out into public. So i always had a lot of time to myself to think. I developed my thoughts and opinions as i stared out the window to the world. I matured a lot. And towards the end i refound my passion for philosophy, spirituality and got deeper into jungian psychology.
Over the past several months i felt very light, or golden. It almost felt like the life path ahead of me was an angelic one, im meant to do great for the sake of others. Maybe im just conceited or egotistical tho.

middle period

This girl though, decides to text me more. Happens to go through a breakup with a bad ex. And she came to me after she got back from the mental hospital. I happened to be there when she was very low. Over time i pulled her out of that bad state and got her over her ex.
We fall in love again.
Since i was always isolated i gave up on searching for relationships, i thought i should just focus on being the best i can so i can start on good footing when i got myself into a relationship. I felt as though i shouldn't force it regardless or seek it out too much. So i didn't. I trusted that it would figure itself out. And it did.
On this second time with her though, I've been able to learn much more about her. And I've realized that she is almost a mirror version of myself, just delt a worse hand in life.

Coincidences or synchronicities?

Now, nothing is super synchronous yet but its been really trippy the more we talk.
We think the exact same thoughts at the same time.
Almost everytime i open my phone shes texting me.
We know what each other are about to say pretty often
Similar tastes in food.
Same opinions and similar interests.
Exact same goals and aspirations.
Her mother and my mother have the same birthday.
We both have similarities in our appearance.
Both want kids, and both ideally want a boy and girl.
Both have had similar problems in childhood
Both have add/adhd ish
Both have siberian huskies
And many more
I also had a dream about her and she showed me something i saw in my dream

We are so very similar. And every time we interact i feel theres always something that happens that is so oddly specific and coincidental that they're not ordinary coincidences. This has never happened to me with anyone else before.
I felt like i was meant to be there for her when i was. I constantly feel like something put us here and like I'm supposed to be with her.
I constantly saw and still see messages that say "if you're meant to be you'll end up back with each other" or ideas similar. Like some kind of omen. These same things, even verses about love in the bible keep reappearing in random places.
Its all so strange but sweet at the same time. But I'm going to trust it.
Lemme know your thoughts! What kind of meaning might this have? Is it more normal than i think it is?
