2024.05.29 05:45 SuperalloyxDarkshine Rework of a Character idea

Rework of a Character idea
Team-up ability: The Fastball Special Hulk can pick up Wolverine or Honey Badger and throw them as a projectile. If Hulk can hit an opponent with either of the two rather than two seconds, Laura will stick to the opponent for four seconds in addition to causing more damage on the initial impact.
I wanted to remake the Laura character because I felt like she wasn't unique and was too similar to Wolverine (shocker). So adding Gabbie into the mix would add to a more unique experience in my opinion. As for how much health Gabbie has, maybe 150, health can always be changed for what better fits the build honestly. I don't know what to do when Gabbie is defeated tho, maybe she's downed and Laura has to pick her up, or she is downed and is on a 12-second cooldown.
The main idea for gameplay would be to manage Gabbie, sending her to a Duelist who charges in for a fight and assisting him or sending her to another strategist who getting attacked and using her third ability to show them all the enemies surrounding them.

2024.05.29 05:45 ThroPotato I’m afraid of forming another romantic connection

I was with my (ex-)partner for 12 years. I thought our connection was strong. In some ways, it is - even though we’ve decided to divorce, we’re still important to each other and we’ll always be a part of the other’s life. Even now we’re still drinking wine together, having dinners, and so on. Kind of like an old couple, but without the sexual attraction.
However, our connection wasn’t strong enough to withstand me being on the spectrum. A few issues caused the breakdown of our marriage, and one was how drained and walking on eggshells he felt when he was with me. He realised that he wasn’t able to cope or be the person I needed to understand me.
So, we’ve moved on. I’ve started seeing other guys, which has been a bit of an eye opener for me.
When I met my (ex-)partner, I was a fat, frumpy, awkward person. I was just about perfecting my mask and with him, I got into the fit life, lost a bunch of weight, and had a glow up. The mask also became less a mask, because I learnt how to feel comfortable in my own skin, which meant I came across as quirky and fun. However I never really realised the effect of all that until now.
Now I’ve started exploring what’s out there, it’s kind of crazy how guys have been reacting to me. They’re attracted to my looks, they’re attracted to my quirkiness, they think I’m charming… that’s great, right?
Except no. I keep thinking about my (ex-)partner and how he knew all of me… and didn’t want it. He saw the neurodivergence in me and even loving me wasn’t enough for him to want to continue being with me.
So now, I’m kind of afraid. I’m keeping it casual, but there is at least one guy I think feels more than just casual towards me. I might too. However… I can’t shake the feeling that he’ll look inside and realise that there’s nothing worth being attracted to.
Support and thoughts needed, I guess?

2024.05.29 05:43 WaveCave420 Sterilization Success !

Just had my bilateral salpingectomy today! I saw Dr. Charlotte Pickens in La Jolla, CA btw. It was an amazing experience y'all! Much easier than I anticipated! Buckle up, it's a long one, and very detailed! But all positive for the most part LOL
I'm 34 and have never EVER had surgery aside from getting my wisdom teeth out at 16, and a colonoscopy at 24. Never even broken a bone or gotten stitches, nothing. I have a lot of medical anxiety, I was tripping out the most over sleep paralysis despite anesthesia LOL Wasn't even nervous about the actual surgery, just didn't wanna wake up during it and be mentally scarred for life 🤣 Saw a few scary stories on TV once about that phenomenon.
The office gave me Hibiclens at my consult appt to take home & scrub my abdomen with the last 3 showers leading up surgery. Yesterday morning, yesterday evening, and this morning. No deodorant, lotions, perfumes, nail polish or jewelry after my shower this morning.
I was NPO after midnight last night. They instructed me to drink an ensure between 9pm-11pm last night since my surgery was in the afternoon. I also took half an Ativan last night at 9pm to make sure I slept and didn't have anxiety insomnia lol They also instructed me to take my heart arrythmia pill this morning right upon wakening with a tiny sip of water. I had an echocardiogram a week ago, so yes, I got cardiac clearance lol I also had a pre-op transvaginal ultrasound and blood work 2 weeks ago.
When I got there, they called me back to the pre-op room. I got weighed, asked for my height, and had to pee in a cup first thing. They then had me change into my gown, skiddy socks & hair net. They gave me 2 Tylenol 500mg & a Celebrex (200mg - for preventative nerve pain) with a tiny sip of water. Then they took my BP/pulse ox, and started my IV in my left hand, and started fluids and some Ativan. They also put on the leg compression things, man they feel great lol They got me heated blankets, and even had a lil pack of lavender smelly stuff they taped to the top left of my paper gown for relaxation 😊
All the staff came in and introduced themselves while in pre-op, from the surgeon herself, to the anesthesia team, to the OR scrub nurses, to the surgical resident that'd be observing (with my permission of course.) They also asked if they had permission to let the surgical resident practice a pelvic exam on me while under anesthesia, I agreed. I've been employed in healthcare myself for 17 years, so anything to help with someone's education! I could've refused if I wanted, but I really appreciated them asking beforehand.
They then wheeled me back to the OR, and I was feeling goooood with the Ativan lol They also pushed a lil GI cocktail too before they gave me the gas. I had to scoot myself from my original pre-op bed to the OR table, which was easy, they leveled the beds together and helped me. They then masked me with the gas, and I was outttt like a light after about 4-5 deeeeep inhales!!!
I woke up in post-op an hour and a half later. Went in at 12 noon, woke up at 1:30pm, all done! They intubated me after falling asleep, and pulled it out before waking up, it's like nothing ever happened! No soreness, hoarseness or coughing. I'm clearing my throat occasionally here and there 7 hours later, just kinda feels like when you get "bubbles" (post-nadal drip basically lol) in your throat with seasonal allergies. Not often enough to cause soreness which is great, waaaay better then what I anticipated after reading about other people's experiences on here. They cathed me too since they gave me fluids, thankfully after I was out, and removed it before I woke up, so it hurts to pee just a little bit, not even as bad a UTI 🤣 Like, a 4 on a scale of 1-10.
They gave me ice chips & apple juice straight upon awakening too, which was great! I had no nausea at all, still don't hours later. I rested for about 30 mins, then they brought back my ride to hang out with me and go over discharge instructions. I got up to go pee, and then they wheeled me outside to the car, and even opened the door & helped me get in!! They have $5 valet services for 0-3 hours parking, so the car was pulled right up to the curb right outside the front doors!
We drove straight to IHOP afterwards. I took it easy with some Belgian waffles & a few strips of bacon, and a mango iced tea, and a few sips of my ride's cinnamon milkshake lol I then stopped by Walgreens to grab a few house things I forgot to pick up last night, my ride helped & carried everything 😊
The ride home was smooth, I didn't have any discomfort from the shitty ass bumpy roads on our 30 min drive home lol I did bring a squishmallow to put between my belly and the seat belt, which was a genius idea I picked up on here!
BTW, I'm an occasional recreational cannabis user. I was honest and disclosed my use to my anesthesiologist only (VERY IMPORTANT), I didn't want that ICD-10 diagnosis use code going to Tricare from my consult appt ahead of surgery & prior authorization for obvious reasons lol. I quit edibles 2 months ago, and vaping 1 month ago. My anesthesiologist said I would've been fine discontinuing use just 5-7 days prior to surgery (no ibuprofen 7 days before either lol), but I did a month + to be safe, I'm a bit on the heavier side, and I've heard edibles stick around in your system (fat lol) much longer than just smoking/vaping, so I wanted to be super certain that I'd be clear and not fuck up anesthesia for myself. For reference, I'm 5'6", 180lbs. I took 3-4 puffs of a vape 4-5 days a week, and 10mg worth of edibles once almost every weekend for a few months straight, so not a super heavy user.
I hope my experience can help others make the decision to take the plunge too before election day lol I called to set up the consult appt back in December, had the actual consult appt in February, and first available surgery was today, late May.
I am a generally super anxious person by nature, and had my bestie/coworker take me to my very first surgery. My family is 3k miles away on the east Coast and couldn't be here, so if my anxious ass can do it, literally anybody can do it! I literally have nobody out here but my bestie, no family, no nothing. My soon to be ex husband is on deployment right now out in the Pacific, and is unreachable at the moment, and frankly doesn't give a shit. He knows I had surgery today too, and I KNOW he won't call or email out of common human decency to at least ask how it went when he does get back in service/port. He asked for a divorce a week after my consult appt, which happened to be 2 weeks before deployment, how convenient, after saying straight to my face before & after the appt that he totally supported my choice, and was looking forward to the DINK lifestyle with me. Oh well.
Y'all are 💯 when you say men aren't ~truly~ childfree unless they've had a vasectomy, or atleast got one scheduled on the books soon lol My conservative family back on the east coast are losing their shit over this, they're all christofacist trump bootlickers, I'm so glad I got to move away from all that and experience personal freedom/a different & better way of life out here. I'm so thankful to be in a position financially & geographically to have been able to take care of this. My GYN back home wouldn't even put an IUD in me at 29yrs old cause I never had kid before, so my cervix wasn't soft enough 🙄 Whatever bitch, I left and got spayed in Cali at 34 with no pushback from my Drs out here, kiss my grits lol
Thanks for coming to my hippie TED talk, hope this helps others! ♥️

2024.05.29 05:41 chridoff Could you get accutane related issues just from too much Cod Liver Oil or other sources of regular pre formed Retinol - I am thinking about taking some to raise my low ceruloplasmin levels.

Basically the title, I want to proceed with caution being aware of the effect Isotretinoin seems to have to estrogen (and androgen? Idk) receptors, I'm curious if these issues are limited to just Isotretinoin? What about relatively high doses of Retinol?
Basically, after some NHS (UK) tests I found out have a copper and caeruloplasmin deficiency, which probably explains my low RBCs, low estrogen and other symptoms.
This was reflected in a hair tissue mineral analysis using the best lab I could find, where copper levels were low and zinc levels high (they counter each other).
Low copper can cause low estrogen (prior to my 7 month TRT experience I had estrogen levels which didn't even register), and estrogen helps the body hold on to copper - given things that raise estrogen seem to help people in this sub, it's probably worth getting levels of copper and caeruloplasmin checked actually.
One of the ways to raise copper binding protein (caeruloplasmin) is to take a decent amount of Pre formed Retinol. But, Im hesitant of this, being aware of this sub.
What are your thoughts?

2024.05.29 05:39 Secret-Bid-1169 Testosterone question about feedback/genetics

Hello! First disclaimer is that I’m a university undergraduate student and not looking for medical advice. Second thing is I already tried to look this up and googling was not entirely useful but rather gave more questions. 1) is testosterone levels genetically determined or more so epigenetically determined? I understand that environmental components can impact testosterone negatively and positively but is the natural levels due to the enhancers within the testosterone genomic locus? 2) from my understanding testosterone inhibits future testosterone production in a normal feedback loop. Once exogenous testosterone is minimal/zero does this result in normal levels after some point? To me this makes sense but I (I’m a premed) was in a doctors office one day shadowing and he was complaining about how once you get on testosterone you can’t get off. I should’ve asked while I was there but honestly I didn’t know enough. From my understanding of the cycle of testosterone it should come back but I’m kinda curious about this. In addition to this if there are additional environmental influences that do raise testosterone by releasing it from sex binding gobulin hormone (I butchered that probably) , does that increase cause negative feedback inhibition or because it releases it from SBGH it doesn’t have a big effect? - sorry for bothering you all and I assume these are kinda basic. I chose testosterone because honestly I kinda have just always had these questions. I like to read/pick up fun facts and as I’m not in university currently I don’t know who else to ask. Thank you so much for answering this and have a great day!

2024.05.29 05:34 SticcTheGreat The Cherry Blossom Sword: The Secret Arts of The Kitazawa Clan

The Kitazawa clan is a minor clan of the Jujutsu society. Their philosophies lies in the principle of "The Jujutsu Should Support The Blade" emphasising on swordsmanship to win. As such, the inherited tecniques of the clan lies around an equal fight with the blade. To follow this principle, the clan not only created a fuck ton of cursed tools, but also learnable techniques to be used with the sword. The techniques would only grow as the Kitazawa family for generations had a shortage of sorcerers with innate techniques. However these techniques uses a lot of cursed energy.
The Swaying Wind Aura
An old technique to counter domain's sure hit effect. An aura of CE is released all around the sorcerer similar to falling blossom emotion. However they can be used offensively as the sorcerer is able to send out the aura all around them. This could be used in an attempt to break the domain's barrier or just to simply use it for attacking.
The Horizon's Edge
Imbuing too much CE to a weapon may make them break. So the technique have them quickly be drawn in and released. One way to release it is with this technique. This technique will send out a wave of CE for a long ranged slash attack.
The Blossoming Sword
Similar to how divergent fist works, the technique will see the sword hitting the enemy and then having a burst of cursed energy be released which can worsen an injury caused by the sword.
The Whirling Storm
By releasing a significant amount of cursed energy, the user's swing will be faster as they spin multiple times in a second. Effective to deal multiple blows at once.
The Blue Sea
This technique will allow the user to manipulate their weapons using cursed energy, such as making it stronger or weaker or using cursed energy to repair weapons and change their shape by a bit.

2024.05.29 05:27 ohhhhlorrrrddymy Weird Blood Test Results after Finasteride use (Advice Appreciated)

Hi y’all, I was curious if I could get some advice here. I took finasteride for about 4 months and due to some side effects I stopped taking it. As per doctor instructions and honestly I wanted to stop as well. The results were great for hair but I’d rather be bald then have the trouble with ED I was having. 2 weeks after stopping I could fuck like a horse and literally needed to masturbate like twice a day. This lasted about a week and then I crashed. It’s been about 5 and 1/2 to 6 weeks now off and I still have some major issues.
I took a blood test last week and my testosterone levels are relatively normal? 531 ng/dl which isn’t bad or out of range. The major flag for me is my free testosterone which is 7.8 pg/nl. This is normal or a 50 year old and I’m currently 26 so this is cause for concern. I’m curious if this is an indicator that I have permanent effects. Maybe this is normal?
I know it takes about 3 months to fully heal but I’m scared of all the stories of people having side effects permanently, shrinking members, etc.
If anyone’s gone through this and has some insight, PM me or comment here. I would greatly appreciate it.
I am working with a medical provider but human anecdotes would be appreciated here.

Snake in the grass? Pleasr proceed with caution…
Not saying one way or the other, but I’d be very careful with entertaining whatever Pleasr Dao is offering up. Anyone with a background in contract law want to have a look at the TOS on their site? (By signing up with your email, you are agreeing to their TOS). I’m not sure if this will even have any official connection to GME yet, but considering the theories going around, it might be worth looking into in advance. I did my best (which is admittedly not good) to read through the legal jargon in the TOS and a lot of it raised concerns. It seems they are planning to create an NFT marketplace of sorts and the TOS seem to skew things heavily in their favor (I.e. seemingly the power to terminate accounts at their sole discretion resulting in forfeiture of assets).

2024.05.29 05:15 adhd_as_fuck What Robert Sapolsky Says about Estrogen (Huberman Labs, 2021)

From Huberman Labs podcast episode "Dr. Robert Sapolsky: Science of Stress, Testosterone & Free Will Episode 35 Huberman Lab" Ignoring the name, this discussion of women, estrogen, and menopause shows up partway through and its fantastic!
Youtube Spotify Apple Podcasts
Robert Sapolsky (34:56):
No, and it’s once again, very context dependent. And if estrogen after giving birth is playing a central role in you wanting to shred the face of somebody getting too close to your kittens kind of thing, we know it’s not just warm, fuzzy, empathic kind of stuff. Estrogen in lots of ways could be summarized by if you had a choice in the matter between having a lot of estrogen in your bloodstream or not, go for having a lot of estrogen.
(35:27):
It enhances cognition exactly as you said. It stimulates neurogenesis in the hippocampus. It increases glucose and oxygen delivery. It protects you from dementia. It decreases inflammatory oxidative damage to blood vessels, which is why it’s good for protecting from cardiovascular disease in contrast to testosterone, which is making every one of those things worse. This brings up this minefield of the question, which is, so what about post-menopausal estrogen?
(36:04):
And all sorts of lab studies with non-human primates suggested that you keep estrogen levels high after a monkey’s equivalent of menopause, and you’re going to keep brain health a lot better, decreasing the risk of dementia, stroke, every such thing. Estrogen is a great antioxidant, all of that. So in the 90s, I think, when Healy, I’m forgetting her name, but when there was the first female head of the NIH, Bernadette Healy, set up this massive prospective human study, what was going to be the biggest one of all times, looking at the pluses and minuses of post-menopausal estrogen.
(36:51):
And tens of thousands of women, and this was great, and they had to cut the study short because what they were seeing was estrogen was not only doing the normal bad stuff that you expect in terms of some decalcification stuff, but it was increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease, and it was increasing the risk of stroke, and it was increasing the risk of dementia, and this ground to a halt, and everybody, they stopped the study in front page news, and everybody had that point, and nobody could make sense of it who had been spending the last 20 years studying the exact same thing in primates and seeing all the protective effects. And the explanation turned out to be one of those things where, like law of unexpected consequences.
(37:42):
Okay, menopause in women, at last different lengths of time, that may be a factor, let’s get a… You know what? Let’s not start giving our study subjects more estrogen until they’re totally past menopause. And when you’ve got that lag time in between, you shift all sorts of estrogen receptor patterns, and that’s where all of the bad effects come from. All of the monkey studies had involved just maintaining ovulatory levels into the post-menopausal period. And you do that, and you get great effects. Estrogen is one of the greatest predictors of protection from Alzheimer’s disease, all of that, but it needs to be physiological.
(38:26):
Just keep going, keep continuing what your body has been doing for a long time, versus let the whole thing shut down, and suddenly try to fire up the coal stoves at the bottom of the basement, kind of thing, and get that going. There, you get utterly different outcomes. And that caused a lot of human health consequences when people suddenly decided that estrogen is in fact neurologically endangering post-menopausal [women]. . .
Andrew Huberman (38:55):
Wow, that’s fascinating. And I never thought that these steroid hormone receptors could, you know, by not binding estrogen, by not binding estrogen, being devoid of estrogen binding, I should say, could then set off opposite biochemical cascades. Fascinating. I guess it raises the question about testosterone replacement too, whether or not people should talk to their doctor before too long. Men and women, talk to your physicians before too long to avoid these, whatever is happening in these periods where there isn’t sufficient testosterone and or estrogen. Sounds like it could cause longer-term problems even when therapies are introduced.
Robert Sapolsky (39:36):
Two additional miseries slash complications. So, okay, you’re trying to understand, you look at women with a history with or without post-menopausal estrogen replacement, where it’s done right, and you’re seeing 20 years later, estrogen is a predictor of a decreased risk of Alzheimer’s. Then you got to start trying to do the unpacking prospective type studies. How much estrogen?
(40:04):
At which times? Estrogen is just a catch-all term for a bunch of hormones. Estrone, estradiol, estriol. How much of each one of them? Natural or synthetic? Go try to figure all of that out. And the second complication is, it’s often hard to say anything about what estrogen does outside the context of what progesterone is doing. And often it’s not the absolute levels of either, it’s the ratio of the two. This is such a more complicated endocrine system than testosterone.
(40:39):
And because you have to generate dramatic cyclicity that like no male hypothalamus ever has to dream of. It’s a much, much more complicated system. Thus, it’s more complicated to understand, let alone like figure out what the ideal benefits are of it.

2024.05.29 05:11 PajamaPirate333 Daily Shoe Spotlight hyperdunk2012

After trying them on, I found that as someone with narrow feet, low arches, and flat feet, size 45.5 fits me perfectly. The sizing runs slightly small by about half a size, with a narrow shoe last that doesn't press on the instep. The high-top design provides excellent ankle support and flexibility! When worn statically, they provide a slightly gradual sense of weight distribution.

Cushioning: 3/5 Initially, the Lunarlon cushioning in the forefoot and heel was distinct, offering a soft, bouncy feel. However, over time, like neighboring Bounce cushioning, it deteriorated rapidly and lost its effectiveness. Eventually, it felt like pure foam. So, I'd recommend these more to agile players who don't rely heavily on cushioning.
Lockdown: 4/5 Once laced tightly, they provide a snug, natural-feeling lockdown, even better than the previous generation. The only issue is the exposed flywire on the sides, which can get damaged outdoors by debris. But they fit well for flat-footed players like me.
Breathability: 3/5 The ventilation is more noticeable on the sides than the toe box, but overall, it's not as breathable as the previous version. After a game, expect normal sweating, nothing excessive.
Traction: 5/5 The full-length crystal outsole with rubber traction and a mechanical-like pattern is classic and works well both indoors and outdoors. Movements on the court are smooth, and braking is swift without concerns.
Lateral stability: 4/5 The midsole's shape, resembling an inflated tire, provides adequate cushioning, and the shoe's upper has enough strength to support the foot, reducing the risk of rolling over. But ultimately, it depends on your ankle strength.
Foot-shoe integration: 4/5 It's like wrapping your foot in foam, incredibly lightweight, making running effortless without causing any discomfort or chafing. The gait is light and fluid. The only downside is the lack of explosiveness during straight-line acceleration. I'd recommend these for agile and graceful players!
Overall: 3.8/5 If they had Zoom cushioning in both the forefoot and heel, they would be explosive! The combination of lightweight design and foot-shoe integration is rare. Coupled with their refined aesthetics, they truly stand out in the sneaker world! They're suitable for medium-sized players who have a graceful playing style, preferring driving and shooting.

2024.05.29 05:11 Saturnine4 Is Eidolon judged unfairly?

Something I've noticed among some of the community is that Eidolon is often blamed harshly for the Endbringer attacks. While it is true that his power is causing them to do their thing, from what I understand it isn't that he wants strong opponents out of boredom or anything - it isn't about want at all. His power is that it gives him what he needs, and he needs to get stronger to fight Scion eventually. So Endbringers are thrown at him, as these stronger opponents require his power to be stronger to fight them, thus creating a feedback loop.
I often see people saying things to the effect of "Eidolon is an arrogant fool, causing tons of death because he wants to be top dog", and I feel it's a bit unfair. He does want to be very powerful, because he knows what's at stake, but his power used a technicality to screw everyone over.
Am I just misunderstanding things? Maybe it's just me really liking Eidolon's character, I think he's interesting.
EDIT: Forgot I wasn't on mobile, fixed the italics.

2024.05.29 05:10 FLAGIRL3662 Switched to compounded and now have headaches

Hey everyone! So I was on name brand wegovy for over a year. Had great success, zero side effects. However my insurance changed their rules regarding weight loss medication and so to save money I switched to compounded version.
I’ve noticed the compounding pharmacy gives me semaglutide/b12/ glycine. The product is also a dark red color.
Since starting this compounded version I’ve had frequent migraines.
I know this medication is causing the migraines bc I stopped taking it and the migraines went away. Then I started taking it again and the migraines started back up.
These migraines are so bad I’ve ended up in the emergency room twice and had to get toradol injections.
Why do the compounding pharmacies add b12 and glycine? Or is it the red dye? Can I get them to stop it? I didn’t ask for the b12 or glycine

2024.05.29 05:10 ilovecinnamon420 Ketotifen causing bladder pain/IC as side effect

Anyone else experienced this?
I seem to be the only one on the whole entire Internet. After trialing the drug starting to develop debilitating bladder symptoms, I thought I was developing IC, I went off of it and started hydroxyzine instead. My bladder symptoms dissipated after Ketotifen, but before hydroxyzine.
Recently, I’ve been in a really bad GI and neurological flare, so I went back on the Ketotifen and it helped immediately with my G.I. symptoms, but now my bladder pain is back!! Like wtf, the only thing there helps with my GI is cause intense pain in my balder. Do I try cromlyon now instead?? Hydroxyzine is supposed to help with bladder pain, but I wonder if it won’t help cause it’s a side effect of the Ketotifen.
Safe to say, I think this is a case of correlation equals causation. Anyone else??

2024.05.29 05:10 AgitatedSite2952 AITA for moving out of my sisters?

Hi, I’m F(17) I have a little sister who’s F (15). So little back story me and my little sister agreed to babysit my niece who was 3 months at the time while my older sister worked, she’s 21 but was 19 at the time that was two years ago. We started babysitting her more instead of it being a few days it would end up being weeks, months, years of us constantly babysitting our niece cleaning up after them doing stuff for her that she wouldn’t have time to do around the house or with her daughter.. I taught her daughter how to walk! Well, she thought it was a brilliant idea for us to move an hour away from our mother and move in with her in a different city to watch her daughter but that caused us to slowly start failing school and we got homeschooled to help watch her baby and never had time to do it. We have missed two years of school and I brought this up to her a million times that this is a problem and we really need to go back to school but she’s more worried about us watching her daughter. Well, we got in a big argument a few days ago and she said that we don’t do anything for her, even though we watch her kid, clean up after her and I take care of her animal on top of taking care of mine! Well, she yelled at me and told me that we should just move out because we don’t do sh!t for her.. and I told her good luck finding a babysitter when we leave because even though her baby daddy does watch my niece sometimes during the weekend she works during the weekdays and she’s always complaining about bringing her down there because of gas money so I went to a family event this weekend and they said they could help us move out and since I do have my license and a car, I’m going to slowly move stuff back into my mom‘s house.. well my sister got mad at me when she found out that we were moving out she said wouldn’t have help anymore taking care of her daughter but claims we don’t watch her and don’t do anything for her, so truly AITAH for putting me and my little sisters education and own lives first?

2024.05.29 05:07 DefiantYesterday4806 Debunking, "If there was a conspiracy, someone would say something because humans are incompetent."

The idea that humans in large numbers lack competency, and so therefore a conspiracy would be practically impossible completely misses the point. Actually, the fact that humans are insanely incompetent and low-information is why conspiracies are everywhere and almost never go noticed. In fact, people DO speak up often and whistleblow and NO ONE LISTENS.
Part of the issue here is epistemological. We think we know about the world. Why do we think that? First of all, human brains are built to conceive of about 150 people around them. Urbanization breaks our brains, and because we're not built for it, we consistently process our impression of society wrong.
School and media are huge and very simply blunt instruments to provide us with a better impression of the massive urban society around us. Most of what we think we know comes from here. Yes, it's true that false information can be contradicted and humans actually can be quite logical with plain, clear facts. However, we have other social instincts which prevent this from happening.
We humans mostly tend to intuitively perceive what kinds of beliefs others have and give massive weight to that while filtering possibly complex or confusing facts in our heads. While some of us and some cultures are much more sophisticated and cynical about media, there are TONS of demographics (i.e.: young women) who psychologically interpret literally anything the media presents as representative of the actual tastes and preferences of that abstract 150 people the brain is built to perceive. Simply because the media exists and promotes one point of view, it means that this must be the position of those in the tribe with power.
Experienced, educated professionals will constantly filter inconvenient information in favor of adjusting to what the group believes. Smarter, 110-130 IQ "midwits" will actually recognize something is wrong, but will rationalize the emotional inconvenience and build explanations or narratives so they can cope. <110IQ people can't construct these rationalizations, and if they're low-IQ enough they can't even understand them, so this is why dumb people often perceive conspiracies that highly intelligent people observe, because the layer of rationalization doesn't appear to them. >140 IQ literally cannot use these rationalizations because their brains see right through them and you have to be a psychopath to ignore what you see. 110-130 IQ people ACTUALLY BELIEVE these rationalizations, that's the point. They ego invest in them and will fight their own kin to squash anyone noticing malicious behavior systemic to institutions. This is partly because, these midwits as the supreme managerial class, so effectively rationalize, they can operate in corrupt environments without being aware of the corruption. Thus they are rewarded immensely, given titles or big salaries, and become personally invested in the fraud while also consciously believing there's no fraud.
As an adult who has noticed all this from experience in the military, ecclesiastical, academic, corporate (never medical sadly) sectors, these patterns seem universal. You know the store manager who has the keys to lock up? Well, when they open up to their buddies and drink a little of the merchandise and throw a little party or whatever, if corporate can't tell, then why wouldn't they? Not everyone who has power will abuse it, but anywhere power is held, someone will abuse it. Abuse of power is a very casual thing, and at a minimum, some percentage of human personality types will always do it. The go-getters and doers especially trend toward a willingness to abuse power, and that's part of the problem. Other humans have specific instincts to submit to the powerful and almost take pleasure when they are on the good side of a psychopath who is abusing a third party.
Here you might say, "Gee, you have a cynical view of humanity." Sorry, the day a college kid can stand up and assert a point of view that's not social consensus, and have even 10% of the class change their minds and support him merely from considering the argument, then maybe I'll be more optimistic. No, people are cowards who are constantly trying to fit in, mostly most people are pretty dumb, and actually most people disdain those who refuse to fit in and don't care at all about the group's corruption. See, kids who are instinctively socially breaking from their parents will oppose the society of their parents. But kids will never oppose, not ever, not at scale, the social momentum of other kids unless there are other kids of clear divisions like racial or religious.
Therefore, I would propose that not only is society full of conspiracies at every level, but actually society functions on the basis of conspiracy. Small group loyalties and hierarchies form nodes around which institutional structure can build larger organizations. I was in the military which is full of formal authority, laws and rules. The reality of it is all that was a distraction to make people put up with a system that is more about little cliques among officers and so forth that sort everything out behind closed doors. Sure, norms, laws, rules, training smooth things out, allow interchangeability, but real decisions are made selfishly by some leader and they have quidproquo with colleagues and that bubbles up to the top. So whatever stupid beliefs they have about their organization or its values, they take with them to the top where someone like a general wields real power. Yet, such a person is sort of "endowed" with that position by his clique-community, and so they must fight for that community's values in the confines of that community's worldview, which might be totally inaccurate.
With this in mind, here is your final graduation thought experiment.
I've tried to understand the Ukraine war.
Right now Russia is playing on its former Soviet era diplomatic network so it's leaning into "white neocolonialists who think they have superior values exploit brown people because of theft and racism." But they're also simultaneously playing the newer, libertarian narrative of a progressive managerial elite which has hijacked the Western bureaucracy. It's sort of insane how they do this. Like how they exalt Orthodox religion but also insist Stalin did nothing wrong, which not even the post-Stalin USSR believed.
The anti-neocolonialist narrative says that rich whites want to steal resources from poor browns. This is factually what's happening, but the tragic irony is that many third world countries probably couldn't develop or benefit from these resources without first world help. So, there's both an argument against neo-colonialism, but also an argument that it's not like this big scam so much as a natural consequence. What it boils down to for me is where war, jackal economics or espionage is used. That's clearly wrong, and I think a lot of poor countries would be doing a lot better without these interventions, although I don't think they'd be rich and developed.
Well, the West actually is anti-neocolonialist too. Globalists want smart cities, AI economy, UBI, CBDC. They want rural white Americans to be the same level of poor as rural Africans, and for the gains of exploiting natural resources to be concentrated among a global elite, which although unfair, is not exclusive to borders. The geopolitical unfairness of neocolonialism will be addressed by Globalism. And its elite will be very small compared to the global proletariat they intend to have.
This is all very ironic since the globalist machine is playing the Euro-chauvinism card to appeal to Euro elites, and also the American exceptionalism card to appeal to American nationalists. They're playing whatever cards they have, like Russia.
So this is all I know: the West is lying to some of its lesser elites by paying lip service to their values. Russia is playing its old USSR geopolitics card while also playing a trad Orthodox card, while also playing an anti-globalist card.
I KNOW that the West is globalist, the leadership that is. So NATO must lose, because the globalists will certainly win if NATO wins. However, I fear the other side might also be globalists and the whole conflict is an anti-white, anti-Western charade meant to displace the old Euro elites and American nationalists.
That's the irony. Globalists control the West, but have to constantly deal with these older elite factions, so they could be using the war as a purge in a way.
It's hard to explain why the globalist-American leadership needed this conflict so bad. Probably it's all a shitshow gone wrong. This is where my explanation of how conspiracies function comes into play.
Neocons thought the would reinvigorate interest in the military but it hasn't. Like a new patriotism and interest in military power and funding.
Ukrainian Jews might have thought they could purge the Slavs and make a second Jewish homeland but that's probably off the table due to the failed counter offensive.
Russia's hopes of exercising their historical and cultural hegemony to settle the conflict have failed, when Ukrainian deep state operatives assured them they were still on the same old team.
Stupid nationalists who are somehow blind to the globalists and think the American economy is "doing great" probably thought this could be a knockout blow to Russia's meddling in certain geostrategic resource deals that affected American hegemony over Europe. This is a legacy of the British "can't let Europe become a world power" prerogative. The kind of dumb monkey legacy deep state geopolitical prerogatives that these idiots cling to while ignoring the other players around them.
So there are members of the British and American diplomatic-military-intelligence communities who are seemingly oblivious to what globalism is, or the imminent collapse of the Anglo-American financial hegemony. They actually believe the financial journalism. They are playing out a specific strategy from their class or clique or culture's history which is about keeping Europe down. So they are acting from that vantage and are acting as a conspiracy.
There are Euro elites acting from the vantage of actual vestigial colonialist attitudes where they actually think that Europe of all places is a bastion of Western values. While this class is completely morally degenerate, what they really mean is there is a class of elites in Europe that actually thinks the whole world outside of white Europe are actually just dumb monkeys. Not metaphorical. They are committed to all this, as a conspiracy that exercises influence as a conspiracy, because of this idiotic, low-information attitude.
Then there's the globalists who have all kinds of plans, and have even got Russia and China and India to adopt some of their financial technologies in preparation for their Great Reset. And this is done because of their massive influence over global business. As a conspiracy. And yet, while massively influential, they don't outright control Russia or China and their plants are constantly falling short. I'd say the globalists are trying to act as a conventional "illuminati" style conspiracy.
But the point is what I said in the beginning. Even these powerful, highly competent cliques have huge blind spots and huge power gaps because humans are in fact highly incompetent in large numbers.
I get a clique trying very hard to influence things and just falling short of being able to do it, but what boggles my mind is that a lot of these conspiracies who KNOW they are conspiracies who KNOW the world is a stage for the common sheep and KNOW the basic nature of deep state and intelligence games that are played. Even these people will not see past their own biases or egos, and fail to see lies in front of their own faces.
Because conspiracy is natural to humans. We do it naturally, so we engage in illicit collusion and cliquishness, but we don't necessarily see or realize where it's happening outside of our brain's 150 person social perception. Which to me is the oddest thing.

2024.05.29 05:05 EatPie712 To those who want to protest.

I want to start by making my stance as clear as possible. If you disagree, that is okay, I only ask that you either read what I have to say and engage in discussion, or click away, it’s entirely your choice.
Firstly, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has a long history that must be looked at in its entirety. Focusing on the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas as a starting point is ignorant of this fact.
I believe: - The ongoing actions by the Israeli government to invade Palestine is wrong. - The Oct. 7 attack by Hamas was wrong. - The death of civilians is wrong. - The targeted bombings of schools and hospitals is wrong. - Anti-Semitism, showing hostility or prejudice against Jewish people, is wrong. - Criticizing Zionism/the State of Israel is not Anti-Semitic. - Calling for a ceasefire is not anti-Semitic. - Being in solidarity with the Palestinian people is neither anti-Semitic nor pro-Hamas. - There should be an immediate ceasefire.
With that out of the way, I want to address those currently protesting and those who may want to. Protesting, especially in groups, can be a powerful way to deliver a message. Having partaken in some myself, I applaud those who have been vocal. However, effective protests must keep certain things in mind. Some of the posts I’ve seen on here have encouraged me to make this post so that those who want change enacted have a clear idea of how to go about it.
Protests do two things: raise awareness and point the lens at those in power. They should encourage your peers to stand up and march with you. Belittling others and disrupting midterms/studying only jades people to your cause. Rather, educate your peers, extend a hand, march together as equals toward a common goal. Attention should be focused on faculty and especially administrators who have a platform.
A protest I like to hold up as an example is the march on Washington. By marching peacefully, and as one, they gained the attention of everyone who may have been less aware or on the fence about civil rights issues. By marching to the capitol, they brought the scope of the issue directly onto those that had the real power to make the change they wanted. While protests are disruptive and are meant to be, they should inconvenience your target audience the most.
I believe many of us at Davis agree on things happening right now. We should uplift our fellow students and focus our voices on the administration, the ones in power. If you notice someone acting out of line, remind them of what it is they’re trying to accomplish. I truly believe in the ability of Davis students to make a change.
tl;dr: we need to uplift fellow students and aim our voices of protest loudest at those in charge.

So I’m on .025 and I’ve been on it for a week now, and I have absolutely no side effects. I’ve actually put it on everyday cause I didn’t know that you’re supposed to slowly go higher… whoops
But anyways, am I safe from a purge or could it happen sometime later like even next month?
