Discouraged
2024.06.10 00:27 ashesirose Discouraged
I guess I’m in a “flare up” if you will. A few years ago I went to a more holistic LLD, did the protocol, and apparently it didn’t fully work….. BECAUSE HERE I AM
All my symptoms, ALLOFEM, came back with vengeance at the beginning of May due to severe stress and anxiety. Since then I started with a new LLD, we did lab work and still waiting for everything to come back. Most likely going the antibiotic route with this doc.
In the meantime while we wait for result, I’ve been taking magnesium, vitamin d, vitamin b, zinc, yarrow root, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, lemon in my water, my usual anti depressant and magnesium salt baths (with dry brushing). Also since then I’ve switched my diet to anti inflammatory (no bread, no dairy, no red meat). The past few days I’ve honestly been feeling slightly better…… with all that being said I think I over-did going with the good.
I was off of work yesterday and today, I visited a friend yesterday morning…. Which I really haven’t been able to do since this started all up again because this shit has made me borderline agoraphobic. Went grocery shopping, meal prepped, cleaned. Still feeling pretty good, i was grateful for such a good day, i even made tentative plans for later on this week (bold).
I slept like absolute garbage and felt a little crappy this morning but today took my dog for a walk, cleaned some more, did laundry, and even started painting again. I’m not sure if it was because I was hyper focusing on my painting but I started to get a migraine and instant brain fog, muscle twitching, brain zaps, dissociation/disorientation. I immediately drew up a bath and started sobbing in said bath.
I know I haven’t started my treatment yet but it’s very discouraging to have a few days of hope and then have it all come crashing. I feel like such a pest annoying my friends with continuously how poorly I on and off feel. I feel like a terrible friend making plans and having to break them because when I’m not at work I just NEED to relax, rest, and sleep until I get my plan of treatment. I know they tell me I’m not annoying and they’re very good at reassuring me of that. I just overall don’t feel very cashmoney right now.
I’m grateful I can still manage to muster enough energy to go to work, take care of my animals and I have a great small support group….. not to mention this group also as a resource.
I just feel sad, and alone. I want my life back. Im looking forward to it.

2024.06.10 00:11 milkybicycle [Acne] My last ditch effort before the nuclear option Miss Accutane
Last Ditch Attempt Before Nuclear Option (Accutane) So I have struggled with acne since I was about 14 (20 now). It all started with a fatal mistake of jumping on an internet trend of using Black African Soap. Before, I only had a few bumps once in awhile that I wanted to clear and I turned to this trend. It ravaged my skin and destroyed my moisture barrier. Ever since then I have been trying to fix my skin. It was REALLY bad for probably a bit over a year. I tried all kinds of stuff but what eventually calmed it down was cutting out major dairy use (byebye milk) and using the CeraVe SA cleanser + CeraVe tub moisturizer. This helped clear active breakouts but didn't really prevent them because it never fully went away. Fast forward about another year-ish of consistent use of this routine and I decided to add in Differin plus a Vitamin C serum to help with PIE. So I was alternating SA cleanser and the Gentle Cetaphil Cleanser + Differin at nights and then Vit C in mornings with sunscreen (AB Skin Aqua 50spf). Eventually I also changed to Vanicream face lotion because I had a suspicion that the CeraVe tub was too thick for my skin. After awhile my skin was the best it has ever been, my PIE and scarring was gone and my breakouts were super minimal (a few spots if any). It was around this time I began to think I had developed hormonal acne because what spots I did get were those underneath the skin ones mostly on my cheeks/jaw and seemed more common around my period. Then, after about 4 months with this new skin, I started breaking out again and it consistently got worse even though I hadn't changed much in my routine. Only thing different was I had stopped using Vit C after my PIE cleared but that was long before this acne came back. Oh, and I was on BC but I started after the Differin had been working and didn't go off it until quite a while after the acne had already come back, so not sure if there was any correlation. Seemingly, the Differin had stopped working. I waited about 2-3 more months just to see if it was a fluke before I quit Differin. From then to now it has pretty much been just fluctuation of moderately bad to not great but not the worst. I have tried things here and there to mostly no avail and have become 99% positive my acne now is hormonal. Recently I decided to do a full reset and just really take my time rebuilding my routine, starting from scratch. That has helped, and what I am doing now has definitely helped maintain it, but my skin is still not clear and at this point I would rather finally go on Accutane and save my skin from more scarring and my pockets from more useless spending on OTC products. Also, my skin is pretty sensitive and dry so I have to be careful about not overloading it with products and protecting my skin barrier. My skin is always much more upset with me when my barrier is damaged and begging for moisture lol. This is my routine: AM: - Rinse with water - Timeless Vit C Serum - AB Canmake Sunscreen - Vanicream moisturizer if i'm feeling dry PM: - If wearing makeup, Gentle Cetaphil Cleanser to get it + sunacreen off - Panoxyl BP 4% wash (this has helped the most recently I think) - Vanicream Gentle Moisturizer mixed with a pea size of their tub moisturizer for extra umph - Pimple Patch on any active spots to prevent me picking or feeling the need to wear makeup over them Currently I will usually have 1-2 active hormonal spots (sometimes more but not very often), some whiteheads, and really just a LOT of PIE/scars. The Vit C definitely helps fade spots faster but ultimately i'm most concerned with stopping the active spots because that's the only way to truly stop the scarring, and imo the scars/PIE makes my skin look worse than it is which sucks. I'm mostly just here looking for anyone with similar skin or a similar journey and to get confirmation if I should just bite the bullet and schedule a derm appointment to get on Accutane. Right now i'm dealing with some serious texture and whiteheads, especially in my T-Zone which isn't very common for me, and i've chalked it up to one if not more of these causes: - started using Joseon Cleansing Balm. wanted to try an oil balm or cleanser for double cleansing for makeup and sunscreen removal since I feared my Cetaphil and Panoxyl back to back was stripping. - the Vanicream tub, I like incorporating it for hydration but I think that thick cream might just be too much for my skin even in pea sized amounts - recently cleaned my makeup brushes with a soap + olive oil mix....cleaned the brushes great but I have a suspicion that if there's still traces of olive oil it's contributing to my clogged pores - did the big dumb like a week and a half ago and slept in my makeup 🥲 so i'm in damage control rn and currently i've stopped the cleansing balm AND tub moisturizer to see if the whiteheads clear. will use Cetaphil to get off makeup in meantime and just be religious about hydration. I heard the soybean in the balm can be a trigger for some acne prone individuals so if I try it again i'm gonna spot test on my forehead or something before going gung-ho. also gonna re-clean my brushes again soon. anyway, thank you so much for sticking with me through this long ass ramble, I just wanted to make sure I had all the info on the table. for the pictures, the first is how my skin looked all those eons ago when it was just totally screwed up, then my skin at its best, and then my skin after it started up again, and my skin now. ANY advice or input or even just sharing your own experiences is welcome!! submitted by milkybicycle to SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

2024.06.09 22:03 FlarkinFlerken Rear-ending and brake-checking
Hi,
My wife rear-ended another car a few days ago. The damage to both cars is minimal, they exchanged information and left on their own. There were two traffic cops directing traffic there, they helped them exchange information and sent them on their ways. The other driver immediately notified our insurance (the accident happened at 1am, and I was woken up by a call from our insurance the same morning). We carry both collision and property damage insurance.
1) Given that it's just a dent on the bumper, I would just leave our car alone and not fix it. (The deductible on the collision insurance is pretty high too). I am getting text messages from insurance to select a repair shop etc. Is leaving the damage unfixed a good idea insurance-wise?
2) The car that she hit is an Uber and I have them on dashcam slamming their brakes in the middle of a turn without any visible reason. From cursory googling, in our state (NY) the rear-ending car is presumed at fault, but if brake-checked, the other party can be considered partially responsible. Is it a good idea to bring this up with my insurance?
NY is a no-fault state if it matters.

2024.06.09 21:51 banallthemusic Auto insurance at state minimum giving me higher rates?
I currently have my car at state minimum insurance rates. I recently called a local insurance agent who told me the reason I’m getting higher quotes while trying to shop around is the fact that I have state minimum right now and I should raise my liability limits to get better quotes.
Is there any truth to this? I don’t drive my car a lot plus I live in Brooklyn so insurance is crazy.

2024.06.09 21:40 rhinehartlane 41.5, DOR, AMH 0.5, success first round with own eggs
Trigger warning: success, LC, MC
My only intent for this post is to be helpful, as I scoured this sub looking for stories like this one (with complete understanding all stories good and bad are anecdotal) during my journey. This is not medical advice. I am not a doctor. This is simply what we did that isn’t as common and worked for us.
We have a 3 year-old LC conceived unassisted when I was 38, birthed at 39. So we knew our main issue with ttc again was my age. I got pregnant at 40 unassisted and that ended in an MMC at 9 weeks. Then, crickets for a year. I did 3 rounds of IUI with stims, (one CP) before moving on to IVF at 41.5 (42 at time of birth).
The most appealing thing to me about IVF given my age was the PGT-A testing. But the doctor we ended up liking the best and going with told me at our consult, given my stats, I’d very likely never get to that stage. And based on how many stories I’ve read on here of women not getting any to blast or through the testing, I think my doctor was right. He teaches RE at UC as well as practices it, and that made me more inclined to listen to his advice. We had enough money for 3 rounds (paying out of pocket. Clinic only 6k a round). So we figured we’d start with what he suggested but also do everything else possible to improve chances.
I primed and stimmed with Omnitrope. I took DHEA, açaí, fish oil, vitamin D, baby aspirin, iodine drops (3 on the tongue a day), L arginine. Levothyroxine (my thyroid numbers were fine but slightly out of ideal range for maintaining pregnancy). I also cut out alcohol, caffeine, and instagram during my cycle. Berkey water filter. Stayed away from fragrance/phthalates as much as possible (no deodorant, lotions, used Burt’s bees baby shampoo). I intended to do keto/no sugano gluten but epically failed at that.
I had 7 follicles. 2 fertilized right away, 3 more were rescued and fertilized 1/2 a day behind.
We did a 3 day fresh transfer. My doctor said our embryos had the best chance in my uterus, can self correct, and most abnormal ones will not implant. I was terrified, but that’s what we did.
He transferred all 5. Which is acceptable to do with untested day 3 (and day 2.5). Small risk of twins. Anything beyond that he said was unheard of for my age (sigh. thanks).
One stuck.
I know this sub frowns on not PGT-A testing, especially after 40. I’m not here to argue for or against it. I’m just saying there could possibly be another option if you can’t clear that hurdle. The stat I found for my age was that once pregnant, I had a 1/29 chance of the fetus having an age-related chromosomal abnormality. I’m not sure the odds of me getting a PGT-A cleared embryo, but I decided to take my chances with the former. My pregnancy wasn’t fun at all. I kept waiting for some test to come back with devastating news. But, we just kept getting good results. And our healthy baby girl was born last week.
I’m sure I’d be singing a different tune if things had gone as feared. But I’m too relieved and grateful to not share, on the off chance this could help one person.

2024.06.09 19:05 ChateauRouge33 Friendly Catholic Churches
Hello, Lived in Brooklyn for 5+ years now but have recently (since 2022) been looking to go to Mass more regularly. I’ve been shopping around for a while but haven’t found a church that necessarily fits what I’m looking for.it’s also very hard to judge based on their websites. What I’m trying to find : - a church with good community (ideally with a sizeable young adult /young families population) I.e monthly holy hour, activities for young couples, etc. - not too traditional or old school; more progressive and into social justice (similar to St Ignatius of Loyola on the UES or other Jesuit churches) - good music (preferably a good choir( - bonus if the church is architecturally interesting!
I live in downtown Brooklyn / fort Greene and am willing to travel a bit afield but am trying to keep it within a 20 min walk/ subway ride. I typically go to Mass in the morning on Sunday.
Churches I have tried thus far: - St Augustin-St Francis Xavier- this has been the closest I’ve found to what I’m looking for but it’s not very active social justice wise/ community activities are less oriented towards younger adults - St Boniface - the mass times are a bit inconvenient here and i haven’t noticed any real groups - Queen of all Saints- I found the ministry here to be very conservative - Mary Star of the Sea - only went here once when I was in the area so I can’t fully judge Thanks!
P.s. this post is not asking for suggestions for churches of other denominations however well meaning; nor am I asking for feedback on the Catholic Church itself.
Thank you !! Edit for formatting

2024.06.09 18:27 Hae_Sun skin care journey — from breakouts malala to decent skin
timeline: august 2023 - may 2024 as you can see in the pictures, I had really bad acne — super bad na I cant smile or move my face without my cheeks hurting from them. additional context: I was eating healthy and was sleeping at least 6 hours per day. I was drinking minimum of 128oz of water every day and I was active (5km every day). Sometimes, it’s not the food or lifestyle of the person. Sadyang f*cked up lang hormones ng tao minsan + genetics pa. my skin care routine before I broke out: - hada labo face wash - skin1004 cleansing oil - skin1004 centelle asiatica suncreen (the viral one) - hada labo premium lotion (toner) - dermorepubliq - la roche posay cicaplast baume - la roche posay sunscreen I recently started double cleansing lang niyan, and imo that’s what caused me to break out. When I noticed na di na normal yung tumutubong acne ko, I stopped double cleansing immediately but I think na damage ko na skin barrier ko by then (over stripped d skin). Here’s what I did/products that helped clear my skin: - skin1004 ampoule face wash - PR (papa reciple) enzyme powder wash - Numbuzin no. 1 toner - PR blemish serum - PR blemish cream/moisturizer - PR Mild derma sunscreen Then when I felt like my skin barrier is okay na, I incorporated/switched the following: - +ful vitamin c serum - +ful sunscreen - Good molecules retinol - Saipo moisturizer - La roche posay cicaplast baume Currently though, I simplified my routine na. - Morning routine: wash with water only, toner, vitamin c and sunscreen na lang - Night routine: cleanser, retinol, moisturizer, la roche posay cicaplast (twice a week) yun lang HAHA i hope this post can help someone! personally, ang hirap kasi magkaron ng confidence/magayos ng sarili kapag anlala ng acne 🥹. Also please take every advice with a grain of salt po! Ngl, nabudol ako before sa products and routine pero that just made it worsen, what worked for me was listening to my skin and curating a routine based on what I need. submitted by Hae_Sun to beautytalkph [link] [comments]
2024.06.09 18:14 BitternutHickoryTree https://old.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/1db4qil/best_disc_golf_stores_in_ny_metro_area/
Hey y'all, I am slowly getting into disc golf. Picked up a beginner Innova set for cheap, but I would love to check out a shop that has a nice selection of discs/could provide advice for a beginner. Would also love to find some used discs because I didn't realize new discs could be so pricey (over $20 for some at Dick's!!!???)
Does anyone have any recommendations for shops in the NY Metro Area? Anywhere in western CT, the Hudson Valley, to Northern NJ would be great. I'd prefer not to trek into NYC, but if there is a good shop or two down there, then I'm all ears.
Thanks!

2024.06.09 17:21 han_sulu Is this $600 quote at least semi reasonable?
Took my moms old Cannondale in for a flat and some new gear ($60 rack, $30 phone holder, and $15 installation fee for those), and the bill came back with $500 of repairs. Got the following notes: Bike needs a fair amount of service due to age/wear and tear on components. It's a good quality frame, and worth investing in. The rear wheel has a bent rim and needs to be replaced, the rear tire is also very dry and cracking and needs to be replaced as well. The chain looks good, but the cassette and crankset have a lot of wear on them, so need to be replaced, and a new crankset will use a wider bottom bracket, so a new bottom bracket will need to be installed to accommodate a new crank. The brake pads are very dry, and the brake cables/housings are pretty corroded so need to be replaced. The front tube burst and needs to be replaced. Headset is loose and needs to be tightened. The rear shifter is not compatible with the rear derailleur, which is why is only works for three out of 7 of the gears on the bike, would need to swap the shifter to make it switch gears accurately. Can add a rack and phone mount per request. Labor $163.50 Parts $388.78 Fee total $0.00 Tax $49.01 Total $601.29 I am not savvy with tools and would much rather pay someone to restore this bike, but want to at least know that this is somewhat reasonable for a repair. In Brooklyn, NY if that provides perspective. Thank you! submitted by han_sulu to bicycling [link] [comments]
