2024.05.16 13:45 b3JjaGlkIHJldW5pb24- Can a restraining order be an abuse of process?

The big question regarding restraining orders as abuse of process
I'm going to try to be very concise here for everyone's sake, but will likely fail. I'm also prefacing this by saying that this scenario involves people who are not necessarily mentally healthy, mature, or emotionally responsible. I state this solely to level the moral/ethical "playing field" between the two subjects.
An 8-10 month semi-official, grey-area relationship between two heterosexual adults in their late 20's/early 30's (subject A; "he/his" and subject B; "she/her"", respectively) ends somewhat abruptly, after a disagreement, with deeper reasons and emotions remaining nebulous and not up for discussion. Final in-person interaction between she and him includes the presence of a third party of her choosing, who is unknown to subject A. This was not stated prior to their arrival. Before she leaves, he asks (reasonably) if they can talk for a second in private. She denies request. He asks why; she claims to not feel safe alone with him, without third party's presence, and that anything needed to be said can be stated in front of this accomplice. This is stated in front of the accomplice who is unknown to subject A. (Note: subject A has no history of violence, physical intimidation, threats of violence, or virtually any justification for this claim) (Third party present knows nothing of subject A's history, any information pertaining to him would be coming from subject B, prior to this interaction and with the pretenses presented during it. Benefit of the doubt is not aligned in his favor given the narrative pretenses.) Subject A's life, career, and income engages with the public, and is dependent on public opinion; entirely. He is given the impression that, given this final interaction; she intends to portray him as violent, dangerous, abusive; and herself a victim/potential victim of this. Although this isn't certain; the narrative has indeed been presented before the third party in the interaction, and to them; is as good as the truth as far as they're concerned while supporting her on this. They leave. He sits on it for a day, and determines the best course of action is to, at all costs, establish peace or civility between the two of them, as damage control, and tell her whatever she wants to hear for that to be possible. The ends justify the means from his perspective. He attempts to reach out about this. They go at it for a while. It's complicated. Ultimately, she rejects his attempt, remains firm in her place. She blocks his number. He oversteps this boundary, and continues to plea for civility or reconciliation. First with Google Voice, then with email. Her replies affirm how she intends, and intended, to portray him to others with her narrative. This reaches its apex with her stating her intent to file a restraining order for his harassment, and the pleas are abandoned.
As far as he knows, he hasn't been served with a restraining order. It's been several months. He's also too scared to look into it, though. Information has surfaced to him that she indeed has made claims to people, who he is unknown to personally but known as a public fixture, about him consistent with the narrative he feared she would put forth in the aftermath. This was done so purely to damage reputation and ultimately silence his side of things. He had two options several months back; wait and see if she goes for his reputation in the aftermath, or try, in desperation, to prevent that from happening by establishing peace somehow. Regardless of whether he shot himself in the foot or not; his foot was still shot. It remains unknown if she filed the order, or if she told people she did but hasn't. He knows he can't send her a C&D for defamation though; because he doesn't know where she currently lives, and if the restraining order exists, him finding this information would be a violation of it. Maybe it doesn't exist; but realistically, her claiming to have gotten one is just as bad as doing it for him, in an immediate sense, and immediate consequences are permanent given the dispositions at hand. He is fully aware though that in the social reality he exists in; when a mess is made in the realm of social opinion, it can be cleaned up as much as someone wants to by proving what's true or false, wrong or right; but the bottom line is that once the mess is made, the damage is done, and the guilty party will always appear to be the one the mess was made over. The claim will always be true to the public before the appeal is determined to be the actual truth; and most people in a social network don't invest enough mental energy into someone else's dirty laundry to hear the appeal, or a critical determination of it; because they don't have to. So why would they.
His guilt of harassment exists because of her intent, and guilt of, slander to defame him, and cause damage to his public image and therefore income. These intentions were suggested-- and debatably implemented-- prior to what came to be harassment. Whether the retraining order was filed, or if the claim was false, rather stated to be to damage his reputation; this hypothetical restraining order has now become weaponized in her ill-intended defamation by slander that she is fully guilty of now.
If the restraining order exists despite her intentions to cause harm, and is operating as a form of harm, could this be considered an abuse of process/abusive litigation?

2024.05.16 13:44 Public_Key9617 BRSK Fibre Broadband Review - £75 amazon code - EBCA

I've recently had BRSK fibre broadband installed at my home in Birmingham and I know they are increasing their coverage in Lancashire and other locations across the UK such as Birmingham, Manchester etc on a daily basis. So I thought I'd write a detailed review below if it is of any use to anyone thinking about joining, as I like many had never hear of BRSK before they knocked on my door. So if you do get a knock on your door from BRSK, you will have some idea what they service is like before making a decision.
Just remember this is my experience from my home in Birmingham so it may be different in your location, however trustpilot reviews are very high for BRSK!
If you need any more information please let me know 😊

1 Month Comprehensive Review - £75 amazon code - EBCA

Here is my review if useful.
Background: • I was with sky broadband for 10+ years - not a fibre line as not available in my area from Sky or any other provider. • The max Sky could give me was only 25 Mbps at a price of £37 pm after the April price rise • Knock on the door 26/03/2024 from BRSK sales rep stating that they will be installing fibre in my area. • No overhead telephone lines in my area as all lines are underground to the property • 05/04/2024 got a message that my area is now 'Live' • Signed up for BRSK on 12/04/24 - at a price of £28 pm for 500 Mbps + £3 pm for the BetterPhone Essential (+£12 one off phone line port fee) • Next day I had an engineer around to check the underground ducts weren't blocked and he was able to clear it without any issues on the day. • 17/04/2024 BRSK was fully installed by the engineer within a couple of hours and to a location I desired.
BRSK Review: • The whole installation process was done perfectly with great customer service by Phil. I was on the phone to him for an hour asking all sorts of questions as I had never heard of BRSK before and he was able to answer some technical questions. • Everything was up and running within a week from initial contact to installation - which was great as I had a week or so left to cancel my Sky broadband contract due to the price rise. Great speedy work for that BRSK! • Service - so far has been amazing, no issues! My devices are connected via WiFi and in the rooms near the router I'm getting 520 Mbps Download and Upload - more than the 500 I'm paying for. • Locations across the house - WiFi speed and strength does cut in half - as to be expected with WiFi - but better than what it was like with the Sky router. So no need for an extender like I needed with Sky. • No downtime so far - constant connection. • Gaming - using my Xbox Series X there was been no issues. Ping has been very stable at around 15-20 ms which is slightly better than I had with sky and much more stable now. No issues with Nat or any sort of jittepacket loss. Download speed of around 200 Mbps on my Xbox due to distance from router. • BetterPhone - porting landline from Sky took 12 days. I also needed to request a RJ11 to BT Adapter plug which took a few days but was provided for free when asked for. Quality - not as great as copper landline I had before but this may be down to the phone I have as 7+ years old, not sure.
Overall everything has been perfect so far with consistent speeds, no downtime and great customer service, all at a price cheaper than Sky and 20x faster. Couldn't be more happy so far! So with that being said I would highly recommend BRSK and what's better is no price rises during the 2 year contract!

2024.05.16 13:38 vummndi How to Care for Your Gold Jewelry: Tips for Longevity and Shine

How to Care for Your Gold Jewelry: Tips for Longevity and Shine
Gold jewelry is a timeless and cherished accessory that adds elegance and sophistication to any outfit. To ensure your gold pieces remain radiant and beautiful for years to come, proper care is essential. Here are some expert tips to help you maintain the longevity and shine of your gold jewelry.
https://preview.redd.it/62mq95n6zr0d1.jpg?width=850&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a511f0e1ccd79c2c69f6ca5d4a6d4df88ae2d68c
1. Regular Cleaning
Regular cleaning is crucial to keep your gold jewelry looking its best. Dust, oils, and other residues can dull the shine over time. To clean your gold jewelry:
  • Mild Soap and Water: Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water. Soak the jewelry for 15-20 minutes to loosen any dirt and grime.
  • Soft Brush: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the jewelry, paying extra attention to intricate details and crevices.
  • Rinse and Dry: Rinse thoroughly under warm running water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent water spots and ensure a perfect shine.
2. Proper Storage
Storing your gold jewelry correctly can prevent scratches and damage. Follow these storage tips:
  • Separate Compartments: Store each piece in its compartment within a jewelry box or use individual soft cloth pouches. This prevents pieces from scratching each other.
  • Avoid Moisture: Keep your gold jewelry away from humid environments. Consider using silica gel packets in your jewelry box to absorb moisture.
  • Limit Exposure to Air: Prolonged exposure to air can cause tarnishing. When not in use, keep your jewelry in airtight containers.
3. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Gold is a relatively soft metal and can be damaged by harsh chemicals. Protect your jewelry by:
  • Removing Jewelry: Take off your gold jewelry before swimming, using household cleaners, or applying lotions, perfumes, and hairspray.
  • Gentle Polishing: Use a soft polishing cloth to restore shine, but avoid abrasive materials that can scratch the surface.
4. Regular Inspections
Inspect your gold jewelry regularly to check for any signs of damage or wear:
  • Loose Stones: If your jewelry has gemstones, check that they are securely set. Loose stones can be lost easily.
  • Clasp and Links: Ensure that clasps are working correctly and that any links or settings are not bent or weakened.
5. Professional Cleaning and Maintenance
For deep cleaning and repairs, it’s best to visit a professional jeweler:
  • Annual Cleaning: Take your gold jewelry for professional cleaning once a year to maintain its brilliance.
  • Repairs: A professional jeweler can fix any damage, such as bent prongs or broken clasps, ensuring your jewelry remains in perfect condition.
6. Safe Wearing Practices
How you wear your gold jewelry can also impact its longevity:
  • Layering Carefully: If you like to layer necklaces or bracelets, be cautious to avoid tangling and scratching.
  • Activity Considerations: Remove gold jewelry before engaging in activities that could cause physical damage, like sports or heavy lifting.
Conclusion
Taking good care of your gold jewelry will keep it looking stunning and prolong its life. Regular cleaning, proper storage, avoiding harsh chemicals, and seeking professional maintenance are key to ensuring your gold pieces remain as beautiful as the day you got them. By following these tips, your gold jewelry will continue to shine and bring joy for many years to come.

I've recently had BRSK installed and I know they are increasing their coverage in Stockport and other locations such as Birmingham on a daily basis. 2024.05.16 13:34 Candid-Reward9677 In Depth EV9 1500 mile Review

Hello everyone,
I thought I would share my thoughts on my Iceberg Green EV9 land, with tow package. Some notes on my settings and car usage: I have all software updates installed, use the car in normal drive mode, and most frequently am using i-pedal regen. I have everything enabled in the car except for digital key and the car charger cable lock. I use a NFC card for unlock, lock, and start. I have throttled at-home AC charging so that my charger maxes out at 30A (or about 7 kw):
What works well/I like:
  1. Efficiency. I am getting 3.0 kWh, at least, and that was in colder winter spring conditions here in the Boston area. The car does demand more energy on the highway (no surprise) but it really sips energy around town. The city driving can be amazingly efficient (3.3 or higher kWh). I do a combo of highway and city driveway.
  2. The heat pump air conditioning system. Heating and cooling is fast, very efficient, and clearly helps to extend range in the winter. I can see high spikes (up to 15kw when I turn on the system), but once the car is to temp, is stay level at 1-2 kw, or less. Very impressive.
  3. Quietness of ride. Compared to my wife's relatively new sienna, this ride is very quiet. Its really nice rot finally have a car that is quiet enough for easy hands free telephone conversation and lower music volume.
  4. The acceleration of the car. Holy mackerel. I have never had an EV before so driving a car this large and heavy that can go 0-60 in 5 seconds is a revelation. And yes, I do floor it very occasionaly and am still getting great efficiency. If you drive it hard all the time, and you will burn thru the energy in battery a lot faster.
  5. Lane centering, self steering, and cruise control (the prob have acronyms but I dont know what they are). Can this car completely self drive? Defeintily not. But it's really nice to take the hands off the wheel for short periods of time. The radar cruise control works really well and will brake well under most circumstances.
  6. The room for 2nd and 3rd row passengers. There is tons of room in the second row, and the 3rd is excellent comparatively to other offerings. If you haul kids, they will be very happy.
  7. The regen settings and the E-GMP platform as a whole. The regen options are amazing. One reason why I get the efficiency I do is I largely am in i-pedal, auto, and low regeneration settings, depending on where I am driving. They clearly put a a lot of thought into how all components of the system should operate together. So far AC charging at home and DC fast charging using EA stations has worked very well. I am very impressed by this platform, although admittedly I dont have a basis for comparison.
  8. The option to use the car is a whole home backup during power outages using the upcoming bi directional chargers. Said chargers haven't been released yet, but using 100kw battery in the car to power certain circuits in a home is a much more elegant idea than dropping 15-25k on a stand alone 10-20kw system. And I bet here in MA I will eventually get paid for allowing the utility to take power from the battery during times of high demand. Love that idea.
  9. The infotainment system. I am coming form a ICE car. The infotainment has so many screens and useful settings. Navigation could be improved, but I am still enjoying the system. The EV menu especially is great, and really helps me to understand really time energy consumption and regeneration. My guess is Tesla does all of this much better, but still, I really like most if it, except for the maps "app" which sucks. I use CarPlay, google maps, and apple maps instead.
  10. the stereo system. Yes it's a little lacking in the base department, but between the lower road noise and decent speakers, I enjoy it, especially the surround mode feature.
  11. The small things. Wireless apple CarPlay, auto high beams, auto windshield wipers, heated/ventilated seats, LED (or LCD?) rearview mirror, passenger talk, and second row sun shades which cover almost the entire window - all work much better than expected. I use all and really appreciate the functionality and ease of use of all of these features.
  12. OTA updates and kia connect in general. Again its sounds like Tesla does all of this better, but I have had 5 updates on the car since purchase. Kia is clearly trying to improve the functionality and reliability of the car via these OTA updates. I also appreciate the features in kia connect, even though they are not mind blowing. I have never had a car that I could pre-air condition before. Its a nice change.
What I Dont like:
  1. As some others on this sub have mentioned the car exhibits is some lateral movement especially at higher speeds when the car goes over bumps. To me, the movement is minor and it doesnt bother me. But when it happens, I am reminded that I am not really driving a sports car. It's a fast SUV.
  2. Not being able to keep the car in I-pedal. Others have mentioned this too. This might be regulator specified though.
  3. Some of the safety features. There are some many it's mind blowing. But I keep my Yakima Exo hitch system on at all times (collapsed) which means I have to disable one feature every time I drive (I must hold down the center console "P" button for three seconds or else the car performs emergency breaking as it thinks its going to hit the EXO).
  4. Not beings able to have all door handles unlock any/everytime a request is sent to the car to unlock a door. I know this is a safety feature, but its annoying that I cant turn it off.
  5. Feeling like enabling my phone as a digital key might significantly reduce battery life. I would like to use this feature, but am more interested in have a reliable car that can fall asleep and give its 12V a break.
Needless to say, I love the car. So long as it continues to be dependable, I will continue to love it.
Hope this is helpful if you are on the fence. I have learned a lot from the sub reddit, and wanted to give back.

Insider secrets for successful money exchange while traveling

Greetings, fellow travellers! Are you planning a trip to Delhi and wondering how to make the most out of your travel budget? Well, you've come to the right place. In this article, we will share some insider secrets and currency exchange hacks that will help you maximize your money exchange experience while traveling in Delhi. Whether you're a frequent globetrotter or a first-time visitor, these tips will come in handy when dealing with money exchange in the vibrant city of Delhi.

Currency Exchange Hacks for Travelers

When it comes to exchanging your currency, knowledge is power. By being aware of a few currency exchange hacks, you can save money and get the best rates possible. Here are some insider secrets that will make your money go further:
https://preview.redd.it/oif8iidkxr0d1.jpg?width=1098&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b02b441979b9e8beaa16850d6961ac0b922443fc

1. Research Before You Travel

Before embarking on your journey, it's always a good idea to research the current exchange rates in Delhi. Visit reliable financial websites or consider using currency exchange apps to stay updated. This knowledge will give you a benchmark and help you avoid unfavorable exchange rates.

2. Compare Exchange Rates

Not all money changers offer the same rates. Take the time to compare exchange rates from different providers in Delhi. Look for authorized money changers who offer competitive rates and low commission fees. This extra step can save you a significant amount of money.

3. Avoid Airport Currency Exchanges

While it may be convenient to exchange your money at the airport, you'll usually find better rates elsewhere. Airport currency exchange services often charge higher commission fees due to their prime locations and limited competition. Consider exchanging a small amount for immediate expenses and find a reputable money changer in the city for the bulk of your currency exchange.

4. Be Aware of Hidden Fees

Some currency exchange providers may charge additional fees that aren't immediately apparent. Read the fine print and ask about any hidden fees or commission charges before making your exchange. It's essential to calculate the overall cost so you can accurately compare rates between different money changers.

5. Use Local Currency

When you're traveling in Delhi, it's always better to use the local currency, which is the Indian Rupee (INR). While your home currency may be accepted in some places, you might get unfavorable exchange rates and hidden surcharges. Plus, using local currency offers a more authentic travel experience.

6. Be Wary of Counterfeit Currency

While Delhi has reputable money changers, it's essential to be cautious and avoid counterfeit currency. Stick to authorized money changers or banks to ensure the authenticity of your exchanged notes. Remember to count your money and double-check for counterfeit security features before leaving the exchange booth.

7. Carry Multiple Payment Options

While cash is necessary for certain transactions, it's wise to carry multiple payment options. Consider having a mix of cash, debit cards, and credit cards. This way, you'll have backup options in case of emergencies or if your primary payment method is not accepted. However, be mindful of foreign transaction fees if you decide to use your cards abroad.

8. Stay Vigilant During the Exchange

When exchanging your money, always stay vigilant and guard your personal information. Avoid exchanging money in crowded places or with individuals who seem untrustworthy. Keep an eye on the exchange rate and the total amount you're receiving to ensure accuracy.

9. Consider Prepaid Travel Cards

Prepaid travel cards are a convenient alternative to carrying too much cash. These cards allow you to load multiple currencies onto a single card and offer competitive exchange rates. Additionally, they provide security features and savings on foreign transaction fees. Research different options and choose a prepaid travel card that suits your needs.

Insider Secrets for Maximizing Your Travel Budget

Now that you have some currency exchange hacks up your sleeve, let's explore insider secrets for maximizing your travel budget. Here are some tips and tricks to stretch your funds while exploring Delhi:

1. Plan and Prioritize

Before you even step foot in Delhi, create a detailed budget for your trip. Consider your expenses for accommodation, food, transportation, attractions, and souvenirs. By planning ahead and allocating your funds wisely, you can make the most out of your travel budget.

2. Embrace Street Food

Delhi is a food lover's paradise, and you don't have to break the bank to savor its culinary delights. Explore the city's street food scene, where you'll find delicious dishes at affordable prices. From crispy samosas to flavorful chaat, Delhi's street food will satisfy your taste buds without draining your wallet.

3. Utilize Public Transportation

Delhi's public transportation system is extensive and cost-effective. Instead of relying solely on taxis or ride-sharing services, hop on a metro train or a local bus to get around the city. Public transportation not only saves you money but also gives you a glimpse into the daily lives of Delhi's residents.

4. Visit Free Attractions

Delhi is home to several iconic landmarks and attractions that you can visit for free. Immerse yourself in the city's history and culture by exploring places like India Gate, Qutub Minar, and Lotus Temple. These landmarks offer opportunities for stunning photographs and memorable experiences without spending a dime.

5. Blend in with the Locals

When traveling, try to blend in with the locals to avoid inflated prices targeted at tourists. Dress modestly, learn a few basic phrases in Hindi, and observe local customs. By immersing yourself in the local culture, you'll gain a more authentic experience and often find better deals.

6. Travel During Off-Peak Seasons

If possible, consider traveling to Delhi during off-peak seasons when accommodation and flight prices are lower. Avoid major holidays and peak tourist periods to save money on transportation and accommodation expenses. Plus, you'll enjoy exploring the city without dealing with overwhelming crowds.

7. Bargain Smartly

Bargaining is a common practice in Delhi markets, and it can be a fun way to score great deals. However, remember to bargain responsibly and respect the seller's livelihood. Aim for a fair price and maintain a friendly attitude during the process. Bargaining is all about finding a win-win situation.

Travel Money Exchange Tips

Let's wrap up our insider secrets with a few additional travel money exchange tips that will enhance your experience in Delhi:

1. Keep Small Denomination Notes

While larger denomination notes are convenient for certain expenses, it's always a good idea to carry small denomination notes as well. Small notes come in handy for street vendors, public transportation, and smaller establishments that may not have change for larger bills.

2. Notify Your Bank and Credit Card Providers

Prior to your trip to Delhi, inform your bank and credit card providers about your travel plans. This way, they won't flag your transactions as suspicious, and you can use your cards without any issues. Additionally, inquire about any foreign transaction fees or card usage restrictions that may apply.

3. Stay Alert for Currency Conversion Scams

While rare, currency conversion scams can occur. Be cautious of individuals who offer attractive exchange rates on the street or in touristy areas. Stick to authorized money changers or banks to ensure that you're getting the genuine rate without falling victim to scams.
With these insider secrets, currency exchange hacks, and travel money exchange tips, you're well-equipped to navigate the world of money exchange in Delhi. Remember, the key is to plan ahead, stay informed, and make your money work for you. Whether you're exploring the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk or gazing upon the magnificence of the Taj Mahal, you can travel with confidence knowing that your travel budget is in good hands.
Happy travels!

2024.05.16 13:27 louisegold83 Quiet studying areas

Looking for recommendations for quiet studying areas in the east end. I recently started back in school and I am finding it hard to concentrate doing my work from home. I live in the east end and was looking for suggestions of quiet places that have free WiFi that I could study at? I know the typical places like Starbucks and other coffee shops but I was looking for something a little bigger. Thanks!

2024.05.16 13:26 Public_Key9617 BRSK Fibre Broadband Review - £75 amazon code - EBCA

I've recently had BRSK installed and I know they are increasing their coverage in Birmingham and other locations such as Manchester on a daily basis. So I thought I'd write a detailed review below if it is of any use to anyone thinking about joining, as I like many had never hear of BRSK before they knocked on my door.

2024.05.16 13:26 __DoJo__ Detroit Pistons Offseason Cavs/Celtics Small Trade (Build the Foundation)

We Need A Pinned Post Lottery Offseason Thread
Detroit Pistons 2024-25 Depth Chart
PG - C. Cunningham, M. Monte, M. Sasser
SG - G. Trent Jr, J. Ivey, D. Knecht
SF - A. Thompson, C. Levert, H. Ingram
PF - S. Fonteccio, I. Stewart, C. Osman
C - I. Hartenstein, J. Duren, M. Muscala
Notable Issues from last season
Three Point Shooting (Spacing) / Interior Defense Specifically (Shot Blocking) / Turnovers / Generating Steals
Notable Positives
Rebounding / Rim Pressure (Slashing) / Mid-Range Scoring
Out
James Wiseman - Had maybe one good stretch where he was affective over five games, but struggled the majority of the season. Decent shot blocker and had a good enough motor, but still lacks a ton of court feel and often doesnt know where to be. He has a team option on his rookie contract and the team should not be looking at bringing him back under any circumstances.
Troy Brown - Doesn't do much to impact the game on either end and was pretty much invisible during his stint in the rotation. His contact ends this season and they should look to upgrade.
Malachi Flynn - Didn't show the ability to get his teammates open consistently and was particularity bad as a lead guard in the Pick & Roll. Despite the 50 point game, he struggled at pretty much every other moment while he was in the rotation. If they do think about bringing him back, it should be on the minimum for one year and they should still look at getting a true back up point guard to help ease the turnover issue the team has.
Evan Fournier - Has a team option contact worth 19 million that should be declined. Not particularly special or consistent in any one area, but had his occasional moments as a shooter. If he is brought back it should be on a drastically reduced contract, otherwise they should allow him to walk.
Chimezie Metu - Had his moments, but I question what his actual position is. Not big enough to play C and not consistent enough of a shooter or quick enough laterally on defense to play on the wings. Wouldn't be mad if they brought him back, but I feel like they should attempt to find his replacement.
Taj Gibson - Past his prime, didn't really play a ton. I don't have much else to say about him.
Quentin Grimes - One of our only decent trade assets outside of our young core and he could get us at least a decent vet role player if combined with some future 2nd rounders. Wouldn't be mad at all if he's on the roster next season, despite the fact that he struggled during his short stint with us. Could fit very well next to Cade, Ausar, and Ivey and provide versatility to our bench.
Jared Rhoden - Two-way guy didn't play alot, but wasn't affective when he was on the floor.
Buddy Boehim - Two-way guy, who I struggle to see ever making the jump to the league. Little athletism and a target on defense.
Tosan Evbuomwan - Two-way guy with good effort and motor, but he's not particularly affective at the moment. Wouldn't be mad at them giving him one more year on a two way contract.
Monty Williams - Consistently went away from lineups and plays that were affective in favor of playing his guys (Killian, Livers, Flynn). Didn't get handed the greatest hand obviously, but would frequently disrupt any flow our guys had in favor of 5 man substitutions, that would see 15 point leads gone in the span of a few minutes, and our good lineup faced with a near 10+ point deficit once subbed back in. Also didn't adjust his game plan nearly enough.
Troy Weaver - NO WORDS NEED TO BE SPOKEN.
In
Potential Coaches
Chris Quinn
Jarron Collins
Kenny Atkinson
James Borrego
Terry Stotts
Trade Pistons Get: Caris Levert/ Pick 30
Cavs Get: Quentin Grimes/ Chimezie Metu/53rd Pick/
Celtics Get: 2027 2nd Round Pick/2030 2nd Round Pick
Free Agents (That I Would Sign)
Isaiah Hartenstein - Really good defender who knows when to negate the roller and when to step up to cut off the ball handler, which is great for a young team who has its lapses in the pick & roll. Would provide a great starting option while Duren continues to develop off of the bench. Also a pretty good finisher and connective playmaker for his size. Could front load his contact and provide a significant pay raise to lure him to the team. I like him just a little more than Nic Claxton (who I believe will be resigned by the nets) because of his strength, but would be fine with either. Also would be willing to pay him more than stated seeing as New York can't offer anywhere near as much money as we can.
Gary Trent Jr - Prolific Floor Spacer. Not the greatest defender or playmaker, but shouldn't be as big of an issue next to Cade and Ausar. We will have to overpay for him though, seeing as Toronto has the money to keep him.
Or
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - AN ACTUAL THREE & D guard next to Cade which is what this team desperately needs until Ivey is ready to play that role consistently if he ever is. Not a lockdown defender, but has a very good defensive iq and knows where to be in order to be a good team defender next to Ausar. Would obviously be a good floor spacer. Could also front load his contract to attract him to the team seeing as he's in the same situation with Denver as Hartenstein is with New York.
Monte Morris - Should not have been traded in the first place. Good playmaking option of the bench who also had one of the better AST/TO ratios in the league. Would help to cut down on TO's for a team that often lost games soley because of them.
Simeone Fonteccio (Resign) - Played very well next to the young core and was very affective from the moment he got to the team. Was practically a way better defending / slightly worse finishing Bojan. Cade played his best basketball next to him.
Mike Muscala - Good floor spacing big.
Cedi Osman - Decent wing depth vet
Other Options Nic Claxton (C) Malik Beasley (SG) De'Anthony Melton (SG) Malik Monk (SG) Royce O'Neale (SF) Bruce Brown (SG) Gary Trent (SG) Markelle Fultz (PG) Isaac Okoro (SG) Derrick Jones Jr (SF) Caleb Martin (SF) Jonas Valanciunas (C) Taurean Prince (PF) Kyle Andersen (PF) Cam Payne (PG) Jordan McLaughlin (PG) Isaiah Joe (SG) Cedi Osman (SF) Lonnie Walker (SG) Patty Mills (PG) Jalen Smith (PF) Daniel Theis (C) Thomas Bryant (C) Lamar Stevens (SF) Delon Wright (PG) Matt Ryan (SF)
Draft
Pick 5 - Dalton Knecht (Good Floor Spacer, who can also finish at the rim. Won't be asked to create a ton for himself. Not worried about his defense when played next to Ausar.) We could also trade back in the draft to get him while picking up an extra asset.
or
Matas Buzelis (Could be very affective if his high school shooting numbers translate to the league and he's able to get stronger. Biggest ? In the draft, but worth the risk.)
Pick 30 - Harrison Ingram (Good-not-great defender who may struggle to defend speedier guards, but has very good hands and can help to generate more steals while also being a good team defender. He can also space the floor consistently and could add more wing depth and length at the SF position.
Let me know what you think.

Noobie needs to stain and finish this new pine panel wall. High gloss. I'll take any and all advice.
I was thinking of using Varathane oil wax (I found a color that I like) and then using some kind of a brush on gloss poly finish. I already have a can of Triple Thick but the reviews on it are quite mixed.

I've done small coffee tables (purely amateur) but never such a big area or on a vertical surface. So I'm asking for any and all advice on products and techniques!

2024.05.16 13:19 Tenahsin Not getting Enough Volts

I am working with a PAA process that i need to hit 15V to meet a standard. my old frame works fine. but thee new stainless frame is struggling hard, only getting about 8.5v of the 15v being pushed by the rectifier. ( i am maxing out on amps the rectifier can do as well, 500amps) I can only think of two issues i may have created for my self here but would like to pick the community brain.
first is i just have way to much surface area in the frame & part?, my rectifier it 20v:500amp system and the tank is large, 1500-2000gallons
Second is i have made a capacitor out of the frame? frame is made from tube stainless 316 steel, welded construction and mostly closed off to the acid. The part is isolated from the main frame and connected to current via a grounding slip (part rotates in the tank)
Any thoughts or suggestions on why i am getting such low readings would help

The Pervasive Influence of Social Media on Public Opinion and Individual Behavior

In an age dominated by digital landscapes, social media has emerged as a fundamental force shaping public opinion and individual behavior. This synthesis essay explores the multifaceted impacts of social media platforms, drawing on scholarly articles to analyze their roles in political mobilization, consumer marketing, and interpersonal relationships. The thesis posits that social media significantly alters public discourse and personal interactions, reshaping societal norms and behaviors in profound ways.

Political Influence

Social media has revolutionized political engagement, transforming it into a more dynamic and accessible sphere. According to a study by Bond et al. (2012), Facebook's social messaging significantly increased voter turnout during the 2010 U.S. elections. This phenomenon is largely due to the ability of social platforms to facilitate rapid information dissemination, enabling political movements to mobilize supporters with unprecedented speed and scale. Targeted advertisements and viral campaigning on platforms like Twitter and Facebook not only reach more voters but also allow for more tailored political messaging, enhancing the ability to sway public opinion towards specific ideologies or candidates.

Marketing and Consumer Behavior

Beyond politics, social media has a profound impact on consumer behavior and marketing strategies. As per the research by Chaffey (2019), social media influences up to 71% of consumer buying decisions, particularly among younger demographics. This influence stems from the powerful combination of targeted advertising and user-generated content, creating a persuasive environment of social proof. Consumers are increasingly reliant on reviews and social endorsements, which platforms like Instagram and Pinterest readily provide. This shift not only affects individual purchasing behaviors but also dictates market trends and brand strategies, making social media a crucial element in modern marketing ecosystems.

Interpersonal Relationships

The impact of social media extends into the realm of interpersonal relationships. Studies by Turkle (2011) suggest that while social media facilitates more frequent communication, it also leads to more superficial interactions. The constant connectivity offered by social media platforms like Snapchat and WhatsApp reshapes how relationships are formed and maintained, often prioritizing breadth over depth. This shift can lead to a decrease in face-to-face interactions and potentially weaken the emotional bond between individuals, altering the fabric of social connectivity.

Synthesis Section

The political, commercial, and social interactions mediated by social media have collectively engineered a new societal norm, where public opinion and individual behavior are increasingly influenced by online interactions. The synthesis of these aspects reveals that while social media offers numerous benefits, such as increased engagement and consumer insights, it also poses challenges like echo chambers in politics and decreased interpersonal communication quality. Understanding these influences is crucial for mitigating potential negatives while harnessing the positive aspects of social media.

Conclusion

This essay has examined the extensive influence of social media on public opinion and individual behavior, highlighting its role in reshaping political engagement, marketing strategies, and interpersonal relationships. Social media platforms, by virtue of their design and widespread use, serve not only as tools for information dissemination but also as shapers of contemporary culture and behavior. As we navigate this digital age, it becomes imperative to foster awareness and develop strategies that enhance the benefits of social media while addressing its challenges. Further research and proactive digital literacy efforts are essential to ensure that social media serves to enhance rather than detract from societal progress.

2024.05.16 13:15 Dimetro_Sparks I've decided to put my take on the Internet popular "Mothra: Queen of the Monsters"

I've decided to put my take on the Internet popular
Hope you all enjoy the show! (Fair warning, it's very long)
We start off as a flashback during early Ancient Egypt times, where Mothra was flying over the deserts, peacefully scattering her godly lights over man and animal alike, bowing down to her in reverence and becoming docile respectively, before she senses a disturbance somewhere. She rushes over to it, and sees Abaddon (using my idea for him, a huge-ass Dragonfly with a functional mouth, a stinger tail, and the forelimbs of a Praying Mantis) using his swarm to hunt for food.
Mothra dispels the swarm and attacks Abaddon with her God Rays, with Abaddon territorially attacking the Queen, and Mothra, in a show of stubbornness, engaging his challenge, and both insectoid Titans engaged in a brutal aerial battle as the Ancient Egyptians watched. It looked as it was going well for the more nimble Mothra, until Abaddon trapped Mothra in his raptorial forelimbs, brutally slamming and dragging her across the sands, before he lifted her and raised his stinger. It cuts to the Ancient Egyptians, who gasp and look on in horror as the sound of a sharp object and crunching sounds fill the air. Abaddon drops Mothra's lifeless corpse as he flies away, having satiated his hunger, while the screen zooms in on Mothra's eye. Whatever epic opening your mind makes happens, before the title lights up.
We follow Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) and her surrogate daughter Jia (Kaylee Hottle) again, this time joined with the Chen Twins, Dr. Ilene and Dr. Ling (both played by Zhang Ziyi) as Jia dreams about Mothra…'s hatching, that is. That's right, sometime after the battle in Rio de Janeiro, Mothra has flown to the Borneo Jungle and laid an egg there, and the main cast arrive to witness it in person, and naturally, when the larva hatches, it was a magnificent sight for all involved. When the night falls and Jia goes to sleep in the Borneo Outpost, she once again shares a dream with Mothra, joined by the Chen Twins, due to their history with the Queen… until the dream started going out of control, wildly flashing and prophesying, among other things, a high-pitched whining sound, unblinking red eyes, the earth collapsing, and darkness enveloping the skies.
Everyone in the dream, from where they are, wake up in a cold sweat, until they get an urgent call that the Mothra Larva was displaying an unnatural and out of character level of agitation, proven correct when they see the slightly nervous Mothra pulsating yellow and orange, before breaking free of her containment and vanishing into the forest. It was pretty easily seen that something big was about to go down if Mothra of all Titans was getting upset. And soon enough, it looked like it came true when a devastating earthquake shook a large part of Asia, splitting the ground asunder and causing ruin, all while energy signatures shows Mothra venturing into Hollow Earth. At this point, the humans knew something was up. So it was decided, one team, with Dr. Ilene Chen, would stay up on the Surface World and monitor any more earthquakes or disturbances, and another, with Dr. Ling, and newcomers to the series Lance Gibson (Donny Lucas) and Scarlet Wilde (Emilia Clarke) would venture into Hollow Earth to keep track of Mothra.
As Team Hollow Earth follows Mothra, understanding that she is sensing something they don't, they keep a close eye on her. Mothra continues making a beeline, hauling ass towards wherever, until she enters a foggy quarry and sees a flashing light that comes closer to her, causing Mothra to tense up, until the fog dispels and she sees… Battra. The flashing light was his horn, and Mothra, seeing this larva that shares the same similarities to her, softens up. Team Hollow Earth were stunned at seeing another Moth Titan, especially with scans showing they share the same genetic material. Mothra appears to be slightly taller than Battra, with Lance suggesting the possibility of them being siblings, and Mothra having hatched first, something that everybody agrees on. Battra has sensed Mothra's presence and vice-versa, with the Queen of the Monsters being visibly overjoyed to be an older sister. Until Battra's horn glows red, and he glows in agitation, before beckoning Mothra to follow him, and the humans trail after them.
Mothra and Battra's venture in the rest of Hollow Earth lead to the Moth Siblings getting ambushed by a large and aggressive Praying Mantis Sub-Titan called a Scymantis. Battra, who has never been in a serious battle before, was scared and hid behind Mothra, who fortunately, did know how to fight. Mothra does battle with the Scymantis, and Mothra, filled with a huge protective big sister instinct, had actually led to her killing the Scymantis, a move that stuns everyone watching, even Mothra herself, though she quickly collects herself and continues on to follow Battra's signal. Both Moth Siblings take a breather in a large beautiful grassy plain, where they see large glowing aphid-like creatures called Flight Lights, one of whom Mothra grabs and directs it's abdomen to her mouth, before eating in a delicious (to her) substance like an ant eating honeydew from an aphid. Battra tries to do the same as his sister, but he doesn't know how to, which visibly saddens him. Mothra, seeing the trouble her younger brother is facing, teaches him how to properly eat from a Flight Light, and does so properly, causing him to light up in happiness.
Meanwhile, with Team Surface World, Monarch is helping the areas of Asia that has been led to ruin by the earthquake, when they see the skies slightly darkening, something they identify to be a sign that Abaddon is arriving. Sure enough, he does indeed show up, his swarm following him. Abaddon was highly aggressive, something that confuses the Monarch team up above, until Abaddon reaches in and pulls out a huge insectoid Titan. The humans back away as Abaddon engages in a battle with the creature, before killing it, and feasting on it. Abaddon leaves, but the humans are left to ponder at what came out. Back in Hollow Earth, the Moth Siblings a large chasm in the ground, going several kilometers down, called the Gaping Maw. The Moth Siblings leap down the chasm, falling underneath and dispelling a veil of natural steam, with the humans following them, until they reach the bottom.
Mothra bravely treads ahead, while Battra cautiously trails behind her, his horn staying red. Until the humans manage to direct the two of them to a veil of what looked like webbing, with Scarlet confirming it not belonging to the Moth Titans. Both Moths rip it open, and see a huge hive, all filled to the brim with Meganulons, almost all of whom stop and stare at them. Battra was nervous, but Mothra crawled forward. Up until she sees a Meganulon about to fall to its death, at which point she rushes forward with no hesitation and saves it. As the Meganulon stared at her in what looked like awe and wonder, a loud screeching is heard, and all the Meganulons back away as both Moth Siblings. Battra looked terrified, while Mothra was defiant, as the Queen of the Meganulons, Megaguirus, emerged and hovered down to greet the newcomers.
Megaguirus sniffed Mothra out with her antennae, and understood that she came from the Surface World, which is good news for her, seeing as she wants to expand her hive. Until she sensed something else on the Surface. One of her own was dead, murdered. The same one that Abaddon killed. Furious at one of her brood's death, Megaguirus engaged the Moth Siblings in battle (yes, she treats her subjects with remarkably more respect and kindness that Skar King). Mothra valiantly fought her, even as a larva, while protecting the terrified Battra. While it looked like Mothra was doing well, Megaguirus, due to being mature, being incredibly speedy, having razor-sharp wings, and able to fly, managed to overpower her, grappling her in a deadly lock with her pincers and stinger tail, and even absorbing Mothra's energy with her stinger. Battra was scared, but upon seeing Mothra struggling, he decided to charge in and his horn lights up with yellow electrical (what looks like it, anyway) energy, and using it to force Megaguirus off of Mothra, who tag teams the Meganulon Queen and slams her to the ground.
They would have continued, if not for Megaguirus' wings glowing and letting out a roar. Suddenly, the ground erupted, and out came Megalon, whom Megaguirus treated almost like a brother, with Megalon in turn, being unfailingly loyal to her. And so, used his abilities over the earth to severely injure Mothra and Battra, forcing them to retreat. As the humans escape the Gaping Maw and bring the two Moth Titans to a secluded but humongous cavern to rest, the humans found ancient tunnels with writings of an ancient tribe, explaining that their God, Megalon, created the Vile Vortexes to Hollow Earth, but after getting touched by a "Golden Ray of Light", he had become destructive after meeting Megaguirus, a "kindred spirit", and have a solution should they ever attack the world. Unbeknownst to them, the Moth Siblings found that solution: a huge influx of Hollow Earth radiation, not only healing their wounds, but supercharging them, and accelerating their growth. When the humans finally notice the blinding lights behind them, they saw the double cocoons, and the literal blinding beauty of both Moth Siblings gracefully emerge in their Imago Forms.
Battra was amazed at his new form, while Mothra makes a dash and flies out, zooming out. Meanwhile, Battra flies back into the Gaping Maw to keep an eye on the Meganulons, he sees that Megaguirus is on the move, with Megalon and a crap-ton of Meganulon Warrior drones to assist her in her invasion of the Surface World. Battra flies back to the humans and warns this to Jia, who relays it to the humans, until Lance asks where the hell Mothra went to, with Scarlet bringing up scans revealing she went to the Surface. Back up in the Surface World, the team there reads Mothra's signatures erupting as she flies out, but she is making a straight beeline for a specific Titan. To Abaddon. Mothra is directly provoking him to get him to follow her to combat this threat, which worries Dr. Ling, seeing as she was aware of what Abaddon was capable of. Sure enough, the two Insect Titans collide in Bangladesh, where a furious Abaddon engages the challenging Mothra in combat once again. It seems as if history is going to repeat, until Battra steps in between the downed Mothra and Abaddon, and explains the situation. Abaddon was motionless for a few moments, before he backs off and follows Mothra and Battra to Hollow Earth.
With Team Hollow Earth, they were now tasked with holding the line between Megaguirus' forces, and the Vile Vortexes to the Surface World until Mothra comes back, knowing that they're in big trouble if they manage to get there. While this happens, Battra and Abaddon get into some skirmishes about one-upping the other due to Battra's newfound confidence with his powers and Abaddon's dislike of anything moth, but manage to hold it in enough to get to their destination. Soon enough, the three insectoid Titans arrive at the battlefield, where they charge in as Megaguirus and her forces do to. Mothra engages in a dogfight with Megaguirus, Battra attacks Megalon on the ground, and Abaddon makes some snacks out of the Meganulons, as the humans attempt to both escape and join in on the fight. During the brawl, Megalon manages to make the ground unstable enough for him to fall into a Vile Vortex, causing the other Titans (and humans) to follow suit.
In the Surface World, all the combatants find themselves in Barcelona, Spain. Megaguirus commands her hive with a high-pitched whining to arrive, with Megaguirus' absorption of Mothra's ability darkening the sky in a huge electrical superstorm, one Meganulon almost grabbing the humans, until Abaddon swoops in to save them, and the Moth Siblings follow suit. Their battles takes them to the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone. During the clash of insects, Battra realized brute force wasn't going to work on Megalon, so he continued beating down the huge beetle, until he grabbed the fatigued Megalon, and aerial suplexed him, making the ground give way and having him plummet to the depths of the earth. Now without her biggest ally, Megaguirus attacks more furiously, but fails when both Moth Siblings tag-team her with slashes and stabs, as Battra amplifies Mothra's own abilities, when Mothra grabs her and stares her down. Megaguirus roars defiantly, which is when Mothra flies up to the superstorm and throws Megaguirus in there, electrocuting her, before Mothra slams Megaguirus down on one of the volcanoes, immolating her to death. Both Moth Siblings and Abaddon roar triumphantly as Mothra uses her God Rays to dispel the superstorm. Mothra looks at Abaddon, who seems to give her and Battra a look of respect, before he flies off.
Mothra is seen patrolling over the skies of the Amazon Rainforest, until she is greeted by Battra, as both the Moth Siblings exchange a cute little bioluminescent show of affection towards each other. Both teams of humans watch as Mothra and Battra fly off, casting a bigger light than the sun, and fade to white as the ending scene before credits roll.
