2024.05.16 13:06 MrHolte Accessing the Power BI REST API?

Hi all, hoping you can help as I'm having trouble...
I'm using python to try and programmatically get the refresh history of a dataset as documented here.
I've created an app registration in Azure's Entra ID, have given it the API permission of Power BI Service > Dataset.Read.All
Using the tenant id, client id and client secret of the app registration, I'm trying to get an access token like this:
def get_access_token(): tenant_id = 'tenant_id_goes_here' client_id = 'client_id_goes_here' client_secret = 'client_secret_goes_here' headers = { 'Content-Type': 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' } body = { 'grant_type': 'client_credentials', 'client_id': client_id, 'client_secret': client_secret, 'scope': 'https://analysis.windows.net/powerbi/api/.default' } response = requests.post(f'https://login.microsoftonline.com/{tenant_id}/oauth2/v2.0/token', headers=headers, data=body) access_token = response.json().get('access_token') print(access_token) return access_token
Whilst that works to get an access token, using it doesn't work to get the refresh history, which I'm doing like this:
def get_powerbi_refresh_history(): access_token = get_access_token() dataset_id = 'dataset_id_goes_here' refresh_history_url = f'https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/datasets/{dataset_id}/refreshes' headers = { 'Authorization': f'Bearer {access_token}', 'Content-Type': 'application/json' } response = requests.get(refresh_history_url, headers=headers) refresh_history = response.json()['value'] return refresh_history
I keep getting a 403 forbidden error which suggests that my access_token doesn't contain the right permissions to access that endpoint.
When I decode the access_token it doesn't say anything about scopes or roles.
On the documentation website linked above, there's a 'try it' feature. When I log in using my company credentials that generates a token there. If I copy it and use that in my function to get the refresh history, then it works fine.
I've checked, and triple checked the app permissions in Azure and it's definitely got the permission that the documentation says but I just can't get it to work to produce an access token that will work with getting the data.
The same app registration also has permissions for the ServiceHealth.Read.All of the Microsoft Graph API and that works fine using this same approach.
If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.16 12:27 Adventurous_Cake_427 API Key Leaked

Hi All
I'm trying to trace a leaked API key for my sendgrid account. I run a laravel application and can't determine if the leak was from my env file or somewhere else. SSH access is limited by private key and IP. Debug is set to false so it should not have printed out env variables if there was an exception. User input is santized if it is echo'd out.
According to the logs in sendgrid an initial email was sent using the leaked API key with the subject line containing the host, port, apikey and email address that is authenticated to send. Then a couple mails with a subject line of "SMTP test". 4 Days later 10K phishing mails were sent from the account. It was all targetted to Philapines bank account customers. I feel gutted because I always felt my keys were secure and now I have just aided in a massive phishing scam. Pretty sure my domain reputation is in the bin.
Example of subject line sent
smtp.sendgrid.net587apikeyactual keyauthenticated email address
The authenticated email address that was used is not listed in the env file, so it's bizarre they got hold of this mail.
I have 2fa on my sendgrid account so access is restricted. I didn't limit access by IP as I use a mobile connection and I did not want to get locked out of the sendgrid account so I didn't activate this.
Sendgrid has now put my account under review until I provide an RCA. I understand why but I am kinda stuck trying to determine where the leak was.
Has anyone else experienced this?

IR-5 Visas Approved In Person, but Visa Status Refused in CEAC
Immigrant visas were approved for both parents in person, however upon leaving the consulate and checking on their cases status in CEAC both visa applications were updated to Refused. The parents returned to the building and were notified through the security detail calling the consular operations upstairs that their visas had indeed been approved.
They additionally called the number on the Consulate and spoke to the administrative assistant who, upon checking their last names, also confirmed their visas had been approved.
Finding another post here on Reddit from a person who had to go through a similar experience with their K1 visa in late 2023 visa makes me understand that for the duration of application/visa case finalization, even when there is no administrative processing, the status is changed to Refused until the physical visa is printed and shipped, which I find very confusing and distressing, not to mention the emotional rollercoaster my parents had to ride, being fairly shaken seeing the Refused visa status without any notice whatsoever that this Refused status is standard for any case while the visa is being printed. It should then change to Issued, which is what we look forward to.
Posting our experience here again to spread the awareness. Will update as this develops.

2024.05.16 09:39 -throwawayeventually Australian Tourist / Visitor Visa Process - My xp on parts of the form that was confusing and other details/documents I added.

Mods, pasabi nalang if this is allowed and remove if hindi pala. Hehe.
Hi everyone! I noticed na walang recent posts re: Australian Visa application so I'm hoping this one will be helpful for those na may plan mag apply. This is as of May 2024.
Summary:
Disclaimer: This is based on my own experience and it might differ from yours. Walang guarantee, nagsheshare lang talaga ako kasi baka helpful para sa iba.
I might miss out on some stuff but from the top of my head, eto yung ginawa ko:
I. Register for an online account at: https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login The online form is about 19 pages. There were the parts that were confusing for me and wala ako mahanap na sagot online, so I'll share what I did here in case kayo rin naguluhan like me. Hehe.
II. Attach all relevant documents. Up to 60 attachments yung pwede so wag tipirin. These were the documents I attached:
III. Once you've reviewed your documents and your answers and sure na sure ka na na tama yung linagay mo, you can go ahead and submit.
Note: Once you submit your application you are only given 14 days thereafter to book a biometrics appointment. So if you aren't from Manila, Cebu, or Davao, i-submit mo yung application mo malapit sa day/s na andito ka sa city. As per the website, if you are not able to get your biometrics taken within the time they set, the application will be automatically refused.
After you confirm your submission, you will be redirected to the payment page. I paid AUD 192.00. Once that's done, they will send you the receipt and a "Notice to Provide Biometrics" to your email. Take note of the Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) kasi needed siya for the VFS appointment.
IV. Sign up for a VFS Global account if you don't have one. This is the site: https://visa.vfsglobal.com/phl/en/aus/ From there, mabilis na. I booked my appointment the next day kasi may available slots pa (marami actually) in the morning. VFS will send you an Appointment Confirmation after with your appointment details.
V. The VFS Australian Biometrics Collection Center is in Circuit Makati, Theater Drive side. (Lumipat na sila from Ecoplaza.) I brought with me 3 things lang: my passport, printed copy of the VFS appointment confirmation, and the printed copy of the "Notice to Provide Biometrics" from the AU site. Pwede din ata from your phone lang, since they just scan the barcode found on both documents.
I was 45 minutes early for my appointment so I waited a bit but pinapasok naman kami about 30 minutes before my actual sched. When you go in, the guards will check your bag, passport, and appointment letter. The collection center for Aus is on the 6th floor, i-guguide din kayo from there.
Wait for your queuing number to be called, and once inside the individual biometrics collection room, doon ka na rin magbabayad nung P557.00 (cash lang pwede afaik). They'll ask you to confirm your details, take your photo, and your fingerprints. It takes less than 20 minutes. After that you're free to go na. :)
___
I received my approved visa notification email about 2 hours after the biometrics appointment. Super fast! Ayun lang, I hope this is helpful for others! :)

2024.05.16 09:07 Emcf Building Multimodal Apps with GPT-4O

I'm sure most of you know OpenAI just announced GPT-4o, a new model that can reason across audio, vision, and text in real time (See OpenAI's demo on YouTube)
By chance, I've been working with multimodal models far before GPT-4o's release, so I feel well-positioned to leave a guide here for anyone looking to build something with it!
Recently, I released an open source library so you can extract data in multiple modalities to feed your AI-based Python projects. In this post, I'll show you how to use it alongside GPT-4o with the OpenAI API to build multimodal apps with it. I've got nothing better to do right now, so I'll walk through the steps of extracting all multimodal content from different sources, preparing the input for GPT-4o, sending it to the model for processing, and getting our results back.
before getting into the code, let's just stop and ask ourselves why we'd use GPT-4o over previous models like GPT-4-turbo:
Multi-modal Input and Output: GPT-4o can handle text, audio, and image inputs and generate outputs in any of these formats.
Real-time Processing: The model can respond to audio inputs in as little as 232 milliseconds, making it suitable for real-time applications.
Improved Performance: GPT-4o matches GPT-4 Turbo performance on text in English and code, with significant improvements in non-English languages, vision, and audio understanding.
Cost and Speed: GPT-4o is 50% cheaper and 2x faster than GPT-4 Turbo, with 5x higher rate limits.
Ok, let's get to the code lol:

Step 1: Extract!

This can be done using The Pipe API which can handle various file types and URLs, extracting text and images in a format that GPT-4o can understand.
For example, if we were analyzing a talk based on a scientific paper, we could combine the two sources to provide a comprehensive input to GPT-4o:
from thepipe_api import thepipe # Extract multimodal content from a PDF pdf = thepipe.extract("path/to/paper.pdf") # Extract multimodal content from a YouTube video vid = thepipe.extract("https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ")

Step 2: Prepare the Input for GPT-4o

Here's an example of how to prepare the input prompt by simply combining the extracted content with a question from the user:
# Add a user query query = [{ "role": "user", "content": "Which figures from the paper would help answer the question at the end of the talk video?" }] # Combine the content to create the input prompt for GPT-4o messages = pdf + vid + query

Step 3: Send the Input to GPT-4o

With the input prepared, you can now send it to GPT-4o using the OpenAI API. Make sure you have your OPENAI_API_KEY set in your environment variables.
from openai import OpenAI # Initialize the OpenAI client openai_client = OpenAI() # Send the input to GPT-4o response = openai_client.chat.completions.create( model="gpt-4o", messages=messages, ) # Print the response print(response.choices[0].message.content)

All done!

PS:
If you have literally no idea what I'm talking about, check out the OpenAI GPT-4O announcement!.
If you're a developer, feel free to access or contribute to The Pipe on GitHub! It is important to note that OpenAI's GPT-4o model is only accepting textual and visual modalities at release, however we will be carefully monitoring the new modalities released for GPT-4o in the coming weeks and updating the library accordingly.

2024.05.16 09:01 arknim_genuineultra Advice on using patch file for installed library

I am using rest_framework_simple_api_key in my production application on python version 3.9 .
On running command
python manage.py generate_fernet_key
as given in doc(djangorestframework-simple-apikey) i am getting File "C:\Users\DELL\anaconda3\lib\site-packages\rest_framework_simple_api_key\models.py", line 15, in class AbstractAPIKeyManager(models.Manager): File "C:\Users\DELL\anaconda3\lib\site-packages\rest_framework_simple_api_key\models.py", line 16, in AbstractAPIKeyManager def get_api_key(self, pk: int str): TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for : 'type' and 'type'
On Searching I got reason is i am getting error is The error TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for : 'type' and 'type' is caused by the use of the int str syntax for type hinting, which is only supported in Python 3.10 and later versions.
I can't change my python version as it is in production so I came across solution monkey patching then i got this article https://medium.com/lemon-code/monkey-patch-f1de778d61d3
my monkey_patch.py file:
def patch_get_api_key(): print("*********************************EXE****************************************") """ Monkey patch for AbstractAPIKeyManager.get_api_key method to replace the type hint. and called it in manage.py file:
def main(): """Run administrative tasks.""" settings_module = "roomroot.deployment" if "WEBSITEHOSTNAME" in os.environ else "roomroot.settings" os.environ.setdefault("DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE", settings_module) from roomroot.monkey_patch import patch_get_api_key patch_get_api_key()
by running command for generating generate_fernet_key i am getting error:
python manage.py generate_fernet_key *********************************EXE**************************************** Before import Traceback (most recent call last): File "F:\Abha\Room_Reveal\Backend\roomroot\manage.py", line 27, in main() File "F:\Abha\Room_Reveal\Backend\roomroot\manage.py", line 14, in main patch_get_api_key() File "F:\Abha\Room_Reveal\Backend\roomroot\roomroot\monkey_patch.py", line 18, in patch_get_api_key from rest_framework_simple_api_key.models import AbstractAPIKeyManager File "C:\Users\DELL\anaconda3\lib\site-packages\rest_framework_simple_api_key\models.py", line 15, in class AbstractAPIKeyManager(models.Manager): File "C:\Users\DELL\anaconda3\lib\site-packages\rest_framework_simple_api_key\models.py", line 16, in AbstractAPIKeyManager def get_api_key(self, pk: int str): TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for : 'type' and 'type'
My question is using patch to do resolve this error is good idea? Also I tried calling my patch_get_api_key() in setting.py file still getting type error.

2024.05.16 05:18 TrueMetalSmiths Guide on Creating Custom Plastic Prototypes

Guide on Creating Custom Plastic Prototypes
As for the developers, creating custom plastic prototypes is an essential part of product development. Prototyping allows you to test and validate your design, identify and address any design flaws, and make necessary adjustments before moving on to mass production.
In this guide, we’ll go through the steps involved in creating custom plastic prototypes and provide tips for success.

Understanding the Design Requirements

Before creating a prototype, it’s important to understand your design requirements. This includes factors such as size, weight, shape, and function. You’ll also need to consider the right plastic material for the prototype.
Some commonly used plastic materials for prototyping include ABS, polycarbonate, and nylon due to their strength, durability, and flexibility. What material you need to choose depends on the applications of your prototypes.

Choosing the Right Prototyping Method

Different prototyping method will create prototypes of different tolerance, surface finish, and durabiltiy. There are several prototyping methods available, and each has its advantages and disadvantages. Some common methods include 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding.
3D printing is an additive manufacturing process where a 3D model is created layer by layer. It’s ideal for small and intricate designs and allows for quick and cost-effective prototyping. However, 3D printing may not be suitable for larger prototypes or those that require specific material properties.
CNC machining is a high-precision prototyping method. Its proccess involves using a computer-controlled machine to remove material from a block of plastic to create a prototype. It’s ideal for larger and more complex designs and allows for greater precision and accuracy. However, CNC machining can be time-consuming and expensive.
Vacuum casting is a prototyping method that applies the silicone mold and create identical plastic prototypes. It offers a quick turnaround time, with parts typically produced within a few days. This is particularly useful for companies that require parts quickly, such as for prototyping or testing.
When choosing a prototyping method, consider factors such as budget, turnaround time, design complexity, and required material properties.

Material Selection for Custom Plastic Prototypes

Material Properties:

Before selecting a material, it’s important to understand its properties and characteristics. This can include factors such as strength, flexibility, heat resistance, chemical resistance, and appearance. For example, if your prototype needs to be flexible, you may consider a material such as thermoplastic elastomer (TPE).

Cost:

The cost of the material is another important factor to consider. Some materials may be more expensive than others, and your budget may impact your material selection. However, it’s important to balance cost with the other factors mentioned above to ensure that your prototype meets your requirements.

Environmental Considerations:

Finally, it’s important to consider the environmental impact of your material selection. Some materials may be more environmentally friendly than others, and you may want to consider factors such as recyclability or biodegradability. This can also impact the end-user experience, as consumers may be more likely to choose products made from eco-friendly materials.

Designing the Prototype

Once you’ve chosen the right prototyping method and material, it’s time to design your prototype. This involves creating a 3D model using computer-aided design (CAD) software and preparing the design for production.
It’s important to work with an experienced team during this step to ensure your design meets the necessary specifications and requirements. Your design team should be able to provide guidance on material selection, design for manufacturability, and any potential design flaws.

Creating the Prototype

After designing your prototype, it’s time to create it. The process will depend on the chosen prototyping method.
For 3D printing, the 3D model is sent to a 3D printer, which creates the prototype layer by layer. For CNC machining, the design is programmed into a computer-controlled machine, which then removes material from a block of plastic to create the prototype. For injection molding, the prototype design is used to create a mold, which is then injected with molten plastic and allowed to cool and harden.
It’s crucial to work with a skilled team that can guide you through the process and ensure the prototype meets your design requirements. This includes choosing the right plastic material, optimizing the design for manufacturing, and ensuring the prototype is created using the chosen prototyping method.

Testing and Validation

Testing and validation are critical steps in the process of creating a prototype using vacuum casting or any other manufacturing process. Once the prototype is created, it’s important to thoroughly test and validate it to ensure that it meets the required performance, durability, and functionality standards.
Stress testing is one tool that can be used to evaluate a prototype’s performance under a range of stress conditions. This testing involves subjecting the prototype to high levels of stress or pressure to determine its limits and to identify any potential weaknesses in the design.
Environmental testing involves subjecting the prototype to a range of environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, and vibration, to assess its performance under different circumstances. Impact testing is another tool that can be used to evaluate the prototype’s ability to withstand impact or shock.
During the testing and validation phase, it’s important to work with an experienced team to ensure that the prototype meets your quality standards. The team can help identify any design flaws or areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to the prototype. This ensures that the final product meets the required performance, durability, and functionality standards and is ready for production.

2024.05.16 05:15 Ok-Top3735 how to Custom RFID tags?

Custom RFID tags can be tailored to specific needs and applications. Here's a breakdown of the process and some considerations:
1.Identify Requirements:
Determine the purpose and environment where the RFID tags will be used. This includes factors like reading distance, durability, frequency, and data storage capacity.
2.Choose RFID Technology:
There are different RFID frequencies (LF, HF, UHF) and tag types (passive, active) suited for various applications. LF (Low Frequency) tags typically have shorter read ranges but are less affected by interference, while UHF (Ultra-High Frequency) tags offer longer read ranges but are more sensitive to interference.
3.Select Tag Format:
RFID tags come in various form factors such as cards, labels, wristbands, key fobs, or custom-designed shapes and sizes. Choose a format that fits your application and can be easily integrated.
4.Customize Tag Design:
Customize the physical appearance of the tag to fit branding requirements or specific use cases. This might include printing logos, serial numbers, or embedding the tag within a product or asset.
5.Data Encoding:
Decide what information needs to be stored on the tag and how it will be encoded. This could include unique identifiers, product information, or other relevant data. Ensure compatibility with existing RFID systems and standards.
6.Testing and Validation:
Before mass production, conduct thorough testing to ensure the tags meet performance requirements. This includes testing read range, durability, and data accuracy in real-world conditions.
7.Manufacturing:
Once the design and specifications are finalized, proceed with manufacturing the custom RFID tags. This may involve specialized equipment and processes depending on the chosen tag format and materials.
8.Integration:
Integrate the RFID tags into your existing infrastructure or products. This may involve software development to enable communication between the tags and RFID readers, as well as backend systems for data management and analysis.
9.Deployment and Maintenance:
Deploy the RFID tags in the intended environment and regularly maintain and monitor them for optimal performance. This includes periodic testing, replacing damaged tags, and updating software as needed.
10.Compliance and Regulations:

April's big inflation reveal: The meme trade has been a fun diversion, but the serious business is here: the April Consumer Price Index reading is set for release at 8:30 a.m. ET. Prices rose 0.4% over the prior month, matching March's pace and bringing the annual inflation rate down to 3.4%. Stripping out food and energy costs, economists expect core inflation fell to 3.6% annually in April, which would be the slowest pace in about three years. ‌
Biden hits China with tariffs: The White House announced a suite of new tariffs on Chinese goods on Tuesday, with a key focus on EVs. In an interview with Yahoo Finance, President Biden painted cheap goods flooding the market — subsidized by the Chinese government — as an attempt to "put everybody else out of business and then they take over." Biden also said he expects China to retaliate but that the trade conflict would be manageable. ‌
GameStop and AMC continue to surge: GameStop followed Monday's 74% gain with a 62% surge Tuesday as the company continues to ride the recent meme stock rally. AMC also saw a second day of gains, finishing Tuesday 33% higher after gaining 80% Monday. Shrewdly, the company disclosed it raised $250 million issuing stock after Monday's pop. ‌
Google's new search: Google unveiled a new way of googling at its I/O conference that, yes, involves a lot of AI. The biggest overhaul to its search engine in years will integrate its AI engine to provide complex answers to queries — with citations. This time, we hope they're real. Users will also be able to perform compound searches for more targeted results without resorting to googling multiple times. For example, the ability to search for "a gym that offers discounts for new members — and how far it is from where I live." ‌
Powell plays down PPI: Fed Chair Jerome Powell provided a timely response to Tuesday's hotter-than-expected headline number for the Producer Price Index, speaking from a panel in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Powell downplayed the hot overall number, pointing at the mixed data and backward revisions. Still, the central bank head again stressed a need to be patient and "let restrictive policy do its work." Today's Takeaway is by Jared Blikre, Markets Reporter ‌ Meme stocks survived another volatility-fueled session Tuesday. ‌ Taking a page from the 2021 playbook, GameStop and AMC Entertainment led the charge. ‌ Both meme stalwarts notched gains over 74% Monday and had further doubled their share prices on the open Tuesday — only to sell off most of the day into the close. Nevertheless, after dozens of volatility halts GameStop closed the day up 62% while AMC jumped by 30%.‌ Amid some gentle coaxing by Keith Gill (aka Roaring Kitty), a slew of names familiar to Reddit boards followed — companies like Koss, Tupperware, Virgin Galactic, Hertz, and BlackBerry. ‌ But while the explosion in volatility rightfully invites comparisons to the well-known 2021 saga that played out on Reddit and across US stock exchanges, 2024 is already proving to be quite different. ‌ This year, Wall Street is driving the bus. ‌
Vanda Research crunched the numbers and reported in a note to clients that GameStop and AMC have only seen a fraction of the inflows experienced in early 2021. Flows into these names at the peak of the early 2021 frenzy were over four times Monday's volume. ‌ "Do we think more retail traders can jump in on the trend in the coming days? Yes. Do we think this is a repeat of 2021? No, and the chances we reach that stage are low," said Vanda. ‌ Without glancing at a single stock chart, it's easy to point out that 2021 was likely a historical aberration fueled by bored recipients of pandemic stimulus checks. ‌ Wall Street was caught flat-footed. Hedge funds like Melvin Capital were obliterated. ‌ But institutional investors learned from the 2021 episode and are better prepared now, argues Vanda. ‌ "Quant/hedge funds are much better equipped to handle these situations nowadays," Vanda senior vice president Marco Iachini noted. "If anything, we believe the chances that they participate along with retail in the squeeze but also lean against and then exit these trades ahead of retail traders are high." ‌
As of Monday's close, the portion of share turnover in GameStop attributable to retail investors averaged 7% over the prior five days — and that number was only slightly higher for AMC. In 2021, the averages and spikes were materially higher, indicating much greater participation by retail traders. ‌ Data in the options market confirms a similar story. ‌ But the biggest difference this year might just be the lack of one single, coherent narrative like the meme story that captured headlines in 2021. ‌ Only last week, we wrote about the recent resurgence of volatility in meme names. "In a critical break from prior trading epochs, much of the recent meme stock volatility is being fueled by material news and fundamentals, like earnings, as opposed to Reddit posts," we wrote. Why the 2024 meme stock action is much tamer than 2021 — so far Indeed, our (unofficial) Yahoo Finance meme stock heat map reveals impressive returns over the last two days that are mostly green across the board. But aside from GameStop and AMC, these daily returns are decidedly not triple digits as they were three years ago. ‌ In fact, the bigger names on this list — like Coinbase, Carvana, and Palantir — have been making their gains the old-fashioned way: around earnings and bitcoin fundamentals.
How much Wednesday's inflation print surprises economists — up or down — will be of particular importance during Wednesday's trading day. ‌ But analyzing market action from CPI release days back to May 2023's print, the equity research team at Goldman Sachs led by David Kostin found that "interest rate sensitive pockets of the equity market typically experience particularly large moves on CPI days regardless of the magnitude of the surprise." Chart of the day As seen in the chart above, non-profitable tech and the small-cap Russell 2000 index (^RUT) have moved significantly more depending on where the inflation print lands over the past year. ‌ — Josh Schafer, Markets Reporter
