🔗Cold Steel Click-N-Cut Slock Master Folding Hunter Lockback Knife with Security Sheath and Extra Blades.

https://preview.redd.it/csxhgu1iwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ccb9a9138a491bdf357accdb7e0117a80d394991
I've been using the Cold Steel Click-N-Cut Hunter Lockback Knife for a few months now, and I have to say, it's been a lifesaver. The knife's design is sleek and durable, with a sturdy Griv-Ex handle that provides a comfortable grip. The locking mechanism on the blade makes it incredibly secure and safe to use, even for the most demanding tasks.
I particularly love the ability to click and switch between blades with the push of a button. It's a game-changer when it comes to versatility, ensuring I'm always equipped for any job at hand. The sheath is also a great addition, providing a secure way to carry the knife and extra blades when needed.
That being said, there is one aspect I'd like to see improved: the handle's construction. While it provides a good grip, the finish is quite rough and not as premium as I would have hoped for. However, this minor critique does not deter me from fully recommending the Cold Steel Click-N-Cut Hunter Lockback Knife for both beginners and seasoned professionals alike.

🔗Compact Fixed Blade Knife with Black Handle

https://preview.redd.it/2lx7495iwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e441c0a83d2f27ee82eb1d40b8af1fdd43137a8
I recently got my hands on a Cold Steel SRK Compact fixed blade knife, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for those seeking a reliable and stylish companion while on outdoor adventures. The knife features a compact handle & blade made of Kray-Ex & SK5, measuring in at just 12.5 cm (5 inches). Weighing only 145 grams, it's remarkably lightweight and effortless to carry around.
One thing that struck me is the sturdy Secure-Ex sheath it comes with – it's a fantastic addition! However, I did notice a few minor drawbacks. Firstly, the blade edges seemed a bit too uneven for my liking. Secondly, I'm not a big fan of the flex hanger option, but that's just personal preference.
Overall, I believe that the Cold Steel SRK Compact is a fantastic choice for outdoor enthusiasts. It's light, easy to carry, and offers great performance. Just make sure to sharpen it properly and maintain it well to enjoy its full potential.

🔗Stylish and durable AK-47 Field Knife by Cold Steel

https://preview.redd.it/lj2g4aiiwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f126f2d6b4bad6ddeeb14711f79cdb6eb778f45
The Cold Steel AK-47 Field Knife has quickly become a favorite amongst those seeking a reliable and sturdy multi-purpose fixed blade. Crafted with CPM3-V steel, this knife boasts a robust design that's perfect for tackling the rigors of everyday life. The stonewashed finish adds an element of toughness, ensuring that this field knife is ready for even the harshest conditions.
Equipped with a full tang and integral steel pommel, the AK-47 Field Knife offers both functionality and durability. It also comes with a Secure-Ex sheath, providing the convenience of easy transportation. While this knife may not be ideal for all situations, those who value rugged reliability will appreciate its toughness and versatility.

🔗Slim D2 Steel Drop Point Pocket Knife for Everyday Use

https://preview.redd.it/2y149zviwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02c2d4549a12a870150c154daf4077b6994d473c
I was initially impressed by the sleek look of the Cobratec Medium FSX Otf Grey 3" D2 Steel Drop Point. The 3.5 oz dual action otf, fully CNC machined out of aviation aluminum, made it light enough to carry in my pocket without any discomfort. The glass breaker and pocket clip were also handy features, perfect for any on-the-go emergency.
However, I noticed some rough edges on the knife, which made it uncomfortable to handle for quite a while. Additionally, the D2 steel drop point didn't seem to hold up as well as I would've hoped, especially when I needed to cut through thicker materials.
Despite its shortcomings, the Cobratec Medium FSX Otf Grey 3" D2 Steel Drop Point still managed to serve its purpose as a slim pocket knife. With a bit of adjustment and use, it might just become my go-to compact tool for everyday life.

🔗Gerber SALTRx Controller Fillet Folding Knife - Polished 9Cr18MoV Blade and Rubber Overmold Handle, Black/Blue Grip and 13-inch Overall Length

https://preview.redd.it/twlntt7jwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca20c275e770d5bb2ebbc6ea307633d33d242499
For the past few weeks, I've been using the Gerber Controller 6-inch Folding Fillet Knife, and let me tell you, it's been a game changer in my fishing adventures. The intuitive GuideFins and tactile HydroTread Grip offered the ultimate control of the knife, making those slippery conditions a non-issue. This handy companion was built with saltwater fishermen in mind, and its SALTRx protection exceeded my expectations, keeping the blade safe from corrosion, wear, and harsh environments.
But let's be real, no product is perfect. As much as I loved the ergonomic handle and impressive blade, the weight of the knife sometimes felt a bit heavy. Nonetheless, it didn't hinder my experience in the field.
Overall, the Gerber Controller 6-inch Folding Fillet Knife has become an essential tool in my fishing tackle bag, and I'm grateful for the company's commitment to creating high-quality, durable knives.

🔗Handcrafted 420 Stainless Steel Flipper Knife with Ziricote Wood Handle

https://preview.redd.it/1b4xb9kjwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffc72960e7e50e9773cbdb69b0d14a6411b29ef4
I recently fell in love with the Fox Knives Nauta Slip-Joint 420. This beauty is a sleek and stylish pocket knife that is perfect for daily use. The craftsmanship is simply impeccable, it's obvious that this baby was handcrafted in none other than Italy. The smooth operation of the slip-joint mechanism felt like handling a dream.
What stood out to me was the comfortable grip provided by the ziricote wood handle. Aesthetically, it added a touch of elegance, yet functionally, it provided a secure and comfortable grip. The stainless steel, on the other hand, made it robust and sturdy.
However, a downside was that the 4-inch blade length, while sufficient for most tasks, might come up a bit short for certain heavy-duty jobs. Overall, the Nauta Slip-Joint 420 from Fox Knives is a perfect blend of classic design and modern innovation. It definitely deserves a place in any knife enthusiast's collection.

🔗Queen 30R Slim Trapper Flipper Knife - UK Friendly Carry

https://preview.redd.it/9upauavjwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=197915bb23bbe77d185b8e0e6ab4144b2b2ecea6
The Queen 30R Slim Trapper, a timeless flipper knife, has become a staple in my pocket for the past few months. With its sleek red handle and brass pins, this penknife grabs attention from onlookers who appreciate its quality and craftsmanship. Its two stainless steel blades with a non-locking mechanism make it perfect for everyday use and ideal for UK-friendly carry.
While the knife is relatively small, it gets the job done, whether I need to open a package or cut through a string. However, it's not without its minor shortcomings—the penknife's slim design makes it easy to misplace in my bag, and occasional handling may reveal slight inconsistencies in its finish. Overall, the Queen 30R Slim Trapper has become a reliable and stylish part of my daily essentials.

🔗Folding Flipper Knife with Red Bone Handle

https://preview.redd.it/tnak9q9kwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=056710d5df77c8510aed01cca01ad128d612100b
I recently had the chance to try out the Frost Folding Hunter Red Bone, and I must say, it left quite an impression. This beauty is a sleek 3.75 inches (9.53cm) when closed, making it the perfect size for everyday carry. The mirror finish stainless clip and skinner blades add a touch of elegance that sets it apart from its counterparts.
The most unique feature of the Frost Folding Hunter Red Bone has to be its red pick bone handle. It gives the knife a distinct, yet classic appeal. The nickel silver bolster(s) are a thoughtful addition to the design, adding a hint of luxury to the overall experience.
While using the Frost Folding Hunter Red Bone, I noticed a couple of drawbacks as well. The size, while convenient, could make it a bit unwieldy for more demanding tasks. Additionally, some users might find the finish on the clip and blades to be prone to scratches over time.
Overall, I think the Frost Folding Hunter Red Bone is a solid pick for anyone looking for an eye-catching, high-quality folding hunting knife. With its unique design and reliable performance, it's definitely worth considering.

🔗Frost Razor Lockback Knife with Red Bone Handle

I recently stumbled upon the Frost 17150RJB Razor Lockback Knife with its unique red jigged bone handles. This compact, sleek knife easily fits into my pocket and has an impressive mirror finish stainless razor blade. However, the red jigged bone handle feels a bit too delicate for my liking.
Despite this minor drawback, it's been a trusty companion in my daily life, perfect for opening boxes or cutting fruit.

🔗Cold Steel Mini Trapper Folding Knife - High-Quality 8Cr13Mov Stainless Steel

https://preview.redd.it/ofnjn6ykwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7098e149b6d63cd615366decb6cac8fc769b9eca
I recently had the pleasure of using the Cold Steel Mini Trapper Folding Knife, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer in my daily routine. This little beauty is the perfect size for any task - large enough to get the job done, but not too cumbersome to carry around.
The 8Cr13Mov stainless steel blade is durable and holds an edge well, while the yellow bone handle provides a comfortable grip. The overallweight of the knife is a meager 2.9 ounces, making it incredibly light and easy to toss in a pocket or bag.
As someone who values classic design, I appreciated the mirror finish on the blade and the smooth brown bone handle - it has a timeless look that I really enjoy. However, I do wish the knife was made in a different country, as it seems that Taiwan is the manufacturing location.
Despite this minor drawback, the Cold Steel Mini Trapper Folding Knife has become my go-to tool for various tasks around the house. It's a reliable and stylish addition to anyone's collection, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality pocket knife.

🔗Durable Flip Button Lock Utility Knife with Seat Belt Cutter and Wire Stripper

https://preview.redd.it/626g45dlwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a73219c8032843fc74325c9b7bf5792348e86a3
Recently, I had the chance to try out the Doyle Professional Flip Button Lock Utility Razor Knife. As someone who relies on utility knives for various tasks, I was curious to see how it would hold up compared to the bigger name brands.
From the moment I opened the packaging, the aluminum blade and alloy steel handle felt solid and durable. The one-handed operation was really convenient, allowing me to quickly access the blade without any fuss. However, I did notice that changing the blade could be a bit tricky at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was quite simple.
One feature that I found particularly handy was the integrated wire cutter and seat belt cutter. It made it so much easier to cut through lines and cords, especially when I needed to make quick adjustments. The lock-up on the blade was also surprisingly sturdy - I appreciated that it didn't rattle or clank around when I was using it.
However, there were a couple of downsides. While the pocket clip was functional, it seemed a bit long and bulky compared to other utility knives I've used. Also, the handle could be a bit slippery at times, so I had to make sure I was holding it securely.
Overall, the Doyle Professional Flip Button Lock Utility Razor Knife proved to be a reliable and versatile tool in my daily life. While there were a few minor drawbacks, its durability, convenience, and competitive pricing made it a worthwhile addition to my collection.

🔗Stainless Steel Flipper Knife with Green Bone Handle

https://preview.redd.it/pvb7nprlwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c2b71e471d1bfbd4c4a8beb564425dca3ad2a57
I recently came across the Frost 17150GSB Razor Lockback Knife with its sleek green smooth bone handles. As a reviewer, I've always enjoyed knives that catch my eye with their unique designs, and this one definitely fits the bill. The 2.5-inch mirror finish stainless razor blade is not only sharp and durable, but it also gives this knife a distinct look that sets it apart from other knives on the market.
One small drawback for some users might be the locked-open handle. While it provides a secure closure, it also can make one-handed use and storage a bit more challenging. Regardless, the green smooth bone handles give this knife a sophisticated and elegant feel, making it a great addition to any knife enthusiast's collection. Overall, I'm pleased with this knife's performance and quality, and I believe it's a solid choice for anyone looking to add a unique and functional blade to their collection.

🔗Affordable and Portable Secure-Ex Neck Sheath Knife

https://preview.redd.it/tx4znf3mwh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4365631ce15aa41eb1b96d55cf6d90b44b98e45
The Cold Steel 49NDE Hide Out is a versatile neck knife that I've been using daily for a while now and it has never failed to impress. One of the features that stood out to me is its lightweight design, weighing only 1.9oz. It's perfect for those who want a discreet yet effective self-defense tool. The blade is made of Japanese Aus 8A Stainless Steel, giving it an impressive edge sharpness and durability. The double-edged blade is Scandi ground, ensuring a strong and sharp tip, which is especially useful when you need it most.
The Hide Out's handle is made of Kray-Ex, a weather-proof material that provides a great grip and security, even when your hands are wet. It's thin and flat, designed to give me a superior purchase on such a small, lightweight knife. The Secure-Ex sheath and bead chain lanyard make it easy to wear and carry around all day, while the knife itself remains concealed.
However, there are a few drawbacks I've noticed. The AUS 8 steel can rust if not properly maintained, especially if you're using it as a neck knife. The blade scratches easily, making it less visually appealing over time. The bead chain necklace is quite stiff and can sometimes catch on clothes or other objects, making it slightly uncomfortable. Despite these minor issues, I've found the Cold Steel 49NDE Hide Out to be a reliable and effective neck knife that's perfect for those who need a reliable self-defense tool.

🔗Stylish and Durable Ranch Boss II Folding Knife with Faux Bone Handle

The blade is razor sharp right out of the box, ensuring you'll be ready for any task at hand. The lock-up is secure, while the sheath is well made and includes a nice snap-on cover with thick leather.
However, one small downside could be the sheath, which some users have found a little loose, making it less secure when attached to their belts. But this shouldn't diminish the overall value of the knife, which has won praise for its solid construction, great design, and fantastic edge retention.
The Ranch Boss II Folder 4 in Blade with Stag Handle is an excellent choice for those seeking a high-quality, versatile folding knife that looks as good as it performs. 1. Design and Construction

The design and construction of a flipper knife determine its overall functionality and durability. Look for a one-piece, solid construction with an ergonomic grip, ensuring comfort during extended use. The blade should be made from high-quality steel, offering excellent edge retention and rust resistance.
Additionally, consider the blade shape and size, as these factors will influence the knife's cutting capabilities. Popular flipper knife designs include clip point, droptip, and sheepsfoot, with blade lengths ranging from 3 to 7 inches.

5. Budget

Before purchasing a flipper knife, set a reasonable budget to help narrow down your options. Flipper knives come in various price ranges, with some affordable options offering basic functionality and others targeting the high-end market, providing top-notch performance and durability.

Before selecting a flipper knife, consider the specific activities or tasks you plan to use it for. Will it primarily be for cutting rope or opening packages, or will it be more of a general utility tool? Understanding the knife's intended use will help you choose the appropriate size, blade shape, and general features tailored to your needs.

8. Handling and Comfort

As a flipper knife is designed for both practicality and convenience, it is essential that it is comfortable for you to handle and use. While these features may not be essential, they can enhance the overall user experience and versatility of the knife. Consider your preferences and intended use when deciding whether to prioritize these additional features.

10. Warranty and Customer Support

2024.06.08 01:16 zixujo Advice on CNC plasma cutter build?

Hi all, i'm interested in building/buying a cnc plasma cutter. I can't find anything commercially available that fits my needs, so I think my only choice is to build it. My constraints are that it is portable, yet good at what it does. I don't have space for a proper table so I must keep it small. I dont need a big working area for the things I would like to produce - 400mmx400mm (16"x16") is more than enough. I've seen various small builds on youtube, but they seem more on the budget side and don't tend to produce the best results. I'd like to build something that produces accurate cuts and requires minimal post-processing. Are there any builds that some of you may be able to guide me towards?

2024.06.07 23:21 sleepdog-c Even Juicier, the Leatherman Swiss army plier

Even Juicier, the Leatherman Swiss army plier
A friend of mine just picked me up a used Juice pro for $15 so I thought I would show it and my collection off. I get these for my wife as she likes to gift them to the universe every so often. There is an S2 allegedly in her possession now but I haven't seen it in a while so I am getting a little suspicious whether she's misplaced it or not. earlier this spring she found her Blue Style CS in a coat that she hadn't worn in a year. So maybe she's just waiting that Juice out.
I have 4 Juice pro's which are the most tooled versions, they are basically an XE6 with 2 extra tools, A foil cutter for wine bottles and a tweezer, 6 Xe6 (2 are still in their original boxes not pictured). Three of the Cs4's all in blue. One of the rarer ones a KF4, a C2, and 2 (hopefully still) cinnamon S2's
The Juice Pro's were a Costco exclusive back around 2002-3 Surprisingly they have been less expensive than some of the XE6's to collect. Only available in the purple grey color. I have 1 in perfect shape and the rest have some cosmetic issues. All are in perfect working order. The tools for the pro are Plain and serrated blades, Saw, awl, can opener, corkscrew, scissor, file, plier, 3 flat blade screwdrivers, a phillips and a reamer cutter as well as a tweezer
The XE6's I have are a mix of old and new. The newest 3 are from the blowout Leatherman had in November of 22. All of the new ones are Moss green which was their rarer color. They were also available in purple and gray in the older versions. I bought the really rough one for spare parts, The springs are notably fragile and do break, but the joke is on me as it is the older version that only has 2 springs for the 3 interior flat blades which is most often the springs that break. The tools for the XE6 are Plain and serrated blades, Saw, awl, can opener, corkscrew, scissor, file, plier, 3 flat blade screwdrivers, and a phillips
The CS4 are all blue and have 3 different versions of the lettering, The original, the updated first generation and the 2nd generation. The CS4 tools are plain edge knife scissor, corkscrew, can opener, saw, awl, The plier and screwdrivers.
The KF4 has both the Serrated and Plain edge knives, the saw and the file as well as the plier, 3 flat blade and phillips screw drivers and it is the only juice with a ruler on the scale. This is the second one I've owned. I sold the first one, a rough example, to a man from Australia, when I got the perfect one i have now. Interestingly, the perfect one was half the price of the rough one I originally bought.
The C2 has the corkscrew and bottle opener as well as a knife plus the plier and screwdrivers
The S2 has the scissor, awl, knife, plier and screwdrivers
The first generation of Juices came out in 2001 and ran until the end of 2013. It was similar in size to the swiss army knifes and had a multitude of models and colors, I only have a few of each. I believe the rarest is a surfing tool, the SX that was only sold for 1 year right before the switch to the second generation. I have only seen one photo of an SX ever. Somewhere in a surf shop there are probably more still in boxes.
The second generation juice started the end of 2013 You can tell the second generation with the scalloped color scales and flat non colored scales, other changes included, coarser plier teeth, no "tool" stamping on the plier head, shorter knives which was due to the possibility of shorter blades being allowed back on planes back in 2013. And while that legislation quickly fell to flight attendant lobbying the blades stayed the same length until the end of the main run in 2019.
The plier heads evolved over the two generations, First as with all pre lawsuit pliers they were stamped USA, after the lawsuit, the USA was ground out to use up current stock. They then transitioned to "Tool" until the end of the first generation and switched to blank for Generation Two tools. I have seen some interesting variations where tools 2003 and later may have USA still because the Lawsuit was mainly a concern for tools sold in California. So tools for overseas did not receive the extra CNC to grind the USA out.

2024.06.07 03:16 kmyerslp 39 [M4F] Missouri - Looking for a fellow creative maker.

Good morning, or good evening, whenever this post reaches you. I've been through most of the normal and not so normal dating apps with childfree stated clearly. I even swipe on some "not sure" but stating up front my decision won't waiver even though 99% of the time there is no conversation started. We all know it's hard meeting someone else childfree out there. With that being said I have been browsing here for a bit. I figure if you don't try everything you won't have anyone to blame but yourself and forever will ask "what if?" I've been single for six years now not for a lack of trying. My previous relationship lasted over 10 years so commitment isn't an issue for me. There are many times I enjoy being alone but it's the times that I don't where I wish I had someone to make running to the grocery store an adventure. I miss cooking with someone else. I also miss just waking up next to someone.
Here's my about me section and sorry it's boring but lists are easier to type and for people to skim through to see whether they are interested.
-Childfree obviously. This is ultimately what ended my previous relationship. I thought the feeling would come later that I would want kids but when the time came to discuss it with my partner I couldn't lie to my best friend saying I truly wanted them. It wasn't long after that we parted ways.
-I don't talk to any of my exes.
-Non-religious
-Monogamy. I don't like sharing. Sorry.
-Looking for something on the long term of things.
-Introverted and pretty homebody but would love a road trip. You might have to pick where we go though. I'll enjoy the trip regardless.
-It'd be hard for me to cheat because that would require two women to like me. Yes, I will tell bad jokes but in all honesty this is true.
-Love languages are physical touch, quality time, and words of affirmation
-Just bought my first home in 2021 and I love it.
-800+ credit score
-Just a mortgage currently for debt.
-I'm a maker which includes the machines I use for the projects. lol I have 3d printers, a co2 laser cutter, and a CNC wood router I've built.
-The photo attached (arcade cabinet) is my most recent project and my most recent photo(about a month old). It's my own design and I'm very proud of that build.
-I'm 6'0" and fluctuate between 220 and 230 lbs.
-I enjoy a variety of music. My taste doesn't stray too far into country or rap though. That's not saying I won't listen to some of it but I usually don't actively play any.
-I have been told I'm very generous, kind, polite, and well mannered.
-I keep a small friend group and am ok with that.
-I have a small social battery that when I need a recharge I'm trying to be polite while trying to make an exit at social gatherings. I still will go to musical concerts though and would love for someone to accompany me.
-I have two tv's in my house but they only get used for movies or binge watching a new season of a show like two or three times a year.
-I work at a government based facility so you know I have a clean record because they are running background checks on me randomly. I've been there 8 years now and really enjoy my job.
-I don't drink or smoke anything. We get randomed at work too so even if I wanted to smoke weed or do drugs it's not worth my job.
-I have two cats Astraea (Uh-stry-uh) whose 13 but the size of a kitten and it all black and Vincent who is 6-7 and is a tuxie. Both are very loving chill cats.
-I'm not into politics or much of the news. It's all depressing really.
-I have not had a vasectomy but have zero issues getting it done for my partner as I know it's more difficult for them to get their procedure approved/done.
About you section 29-41 Childfree..duh Hopefully located near Missouri. It'd more rare but if we felt a connection I'd probably help someone further away move here. Hopefully a maker or creative in some regard. Yes, you could use my machines...just please don't burn the house down. lol
And finally the big reveal photos if you made it this far or like most just scrolled to the bottom to view the spoiler then clicking to the next post.

New -to me- cnc converted bench lathe
I am still servicing it and fitting linux cnc instead of mach3. I just tried machining (by hand) a piece of brass with some shitty cutter and I am pretty excited 🙂
This is my first personal CNC machine (besides my 3D printers) and I have plans to modify it thoroughly, enclosing it and making a gang tool arrangement with live tooling.

🔗Durable Self-Healing Target Set for Rimfire Practice

https://preview.redd.it/gztae8hkup4d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ae4e5d803e5a650dc23b9f2b6360d4835d90fb0
I recently used the Do-All Triple Spinner target set in my backyard and I must say it has been a game-changer in my shooting practice. This set is tailored for soft-nosed. 22 rimfire rounds and it is well-designed for beginners and seasoned shooters alike. The set includes interchangeable spinning targets which spins when hit, making it easier to see and correct your positioning.
What stood out to me is the all-steel construction, which offers durability even when hit multiple times. I appreciate that the manufacturer includes a stabilizing stand, which holds the targets firmly in place, reducing the need for constant resetting after every shot.
However, the size of the targets is relatively small, which might prove challenging for some shooters. Additionally, the provided stickers for marking targets could have been of better quality, as they started falling off within a few shots. These factors might necessitate additional purchases or modifications to the product to suit individual preferences.
Overall, the Do-All Triple Spinner target set is a convenient and effective practice tool for. 22 rimfire enthusiasts. Its sturdy design, interchangeable spinning targets, and versatile base make it a great investment for improving your marksmanship.

🔗Premium AR500 Laser Cut Torso Bullseye Target with Gong

The AR500 Steel Bullseye Torso Silhouette Targets caught my attention with their 12" x 24" size, and I was eager to start using them in my shooting range. Hanging them up was a breeze, and I appreciated the included chains that made them easily accessible. The central bullseye added an extra challenge to the targets, and the distinct sound of hitting it was satisfying.
One feature that stood out to me was the 5" hole with a 6" AR 500 gong behind it. It was a clever design that allowed for immediate feedback on accurate shots, making me feel more in control of my aim. However, I also noticed that the quality of the torso silhouette wasn't as well-defined as I'd hoped, making it more difficult to pick out smaller details at a distance.
My experience with the AR500 Steel Bullseye Torso Silhouette Targets was overall a positive one, with the central bullseye and sound features adding a unique touch to target shooting. The sturdy construction and easy assembly made this an excellent addition to my range, but I would also recommend being mindful of the appropriate distances when using these targets for different caliber ammo to avoid any potential pitting or damage.

🔗Swinging Airsoft Target Stand with 6 Steel Plates for Precision Shooting

Using Atflbox's dueling tree target stand has been a bit of a thrill. With six steel plates swinging around to engage my airsoft BB gun practice, it's become the best friend I never knew I needed. I've found the targets easy to see even from a distance, and the swing mechanism is intuitive enough to make my training sessions lively.
Every time I manage to hit one of the targets, the Atflbox does reward me with a satisfying pivot to the other side. It sparks a healthy sense of competition, much like real dueling trees. The fact that I don't have to manually reset it after each shot is the cherry on top.
However, sometimes the targets aren't as stable as I'd like them to be once hit. The wind can throw them out of whack. But overall, I've found the Atflbox dueling tree target stand to be an excellent choice for home or backyard airsoft training. It's a simple, effective, and aesthetically pleasing addition to any airsoft range.

A couple of weekends ago, I decided to upgrade my outdoor shooting area with the Magnum Target. I received the set of 6 AR500 steel dueling tree targets; each paddle measuring 6 inches by 3/8 inches. They're not painted, which gives them a raw, rugged appeal, fitting for an outdoor environment.
The first thing that struck me was the impressive construction. The targets are made from AR500 steel plate and are incredibly sturdy, standing up to all the rifle and pistol calibers I have in my collection. The precision cuts make them highly accurate shooting targets. I even found the plasma-cutting process gave them a unique and distinctive aesthetic, perfect for a dueling tree setup.
However, the Magnum Target isn't without its cons. One issue was the weight; they're significantly heavier than I anticipated. I had to ensure they were securely anchored to prevent them from moving around during use. It would have been handy if they came with a built-in hanger for easy mounting.
Despite this, my overall experience with the Magnum Target was very positive. They meet all the safety requirements for shooting targets and, as long as you're aware of the precautions, they are perfect for practice sessions. The price-to-value ratio is excellent, especially for regular users, and they offer a lifetime of practice for your ammunition.

I recently tried the 1/4 inch AR500 Bullseye Shooting Target. The golden yellow, zinc-plated finish looked great and was a nice touch. The center of the target was definitely the star of the show, creating a unique sound and a thrilling challenge for the shooter.
Setting it up was a breeze - it arrived ready for paint and all I had to do was add a bit of paint to the T-posts and it was good to go. I've shot a few rounds on the target and it held up fantastically, needing only a couple of spray paint touches to look brand new again.
The only thing that could have been better is if the box it came in was more resilient - it was a bit dented, but this is a really minor issue considering the quality of the rest of the product. All in all, this ShootingTargets7 Bullseye Shooting Target has really become a favorite for us. Its unique design and great durability make every shot a thrilling experience!

🔗High-Quality Dueling Tree Targets for Precise Shooting Practice

Imagine using a product that makes your daily life easier and more exciting, with just one piece of equipment. That's what you get with the Spartan Armor Systems Dueling Tree AR550 6 Paddle Kit Metal TTM-DT6-550 - the ultimate target for all your shooting needs.
This dueling tree is not only durable and versatile, but it's also incredibly fun to use. The 6-inch diameter and 0.375-inch depth make it ideal for various shooting scenarios. The 6 paddle setup allows you to enjoy hours of shooting practice while honing your skills. And with the Multi Purpose Base, you can set it up anywhere, making it a convenient and portable option.
However, there's always room for improvement. While the dueling tree is designed to provide hours of entertainment, there's one aspect that could use some work - the paddle pole. It's a bit too short, and users have expressed their desire for a longer pole to accommodate more paddles in the future. This would make the dueling tree even more versatile and customizable for your specific shooting needs.
Overall, the Spartan Armor Systems Dueling Tree AR550 6 Paddle Kit Metal TTM-DT6-550 is a top-notch target for a wide range of shooting enthusiasts. It's durable, versatile, and provides hours of entertainment. Though there's one area that could use improvement, this dueling tree is still a must-have for any shooting aficionado looking to amp up their practice sessions.

🔗Durable Steel AR500 Dueling Tree Targets for Shooters

I've been using the Dragon Targets AR500 Steel Targets for quite some time now, and I must say, they've been a game-changer for my shooting experience. Made of high-quality, durable AR500 steel, these targets are crafted with precision in America using a top-notch Mitsubishi CNC laser cutter.
What stands out the most is their reactive nature - when hit, they ding loudly, alerting the shooter to their accuracy. This feature not only saves time, but also allows for more rounds to be fired in a single session. The targets come in a matte white finish for maximum visibility and are designed not to reflect light back towards the shooter. They can also be easily repainted once the original paint is worn off.
One downside is the cost, but considering the longevity and quality, I believe it's a worthwhile investment. Overall, these Dragon Targets are a solid choice for any shooter who values precision and durability.

🔗Durable AR500 Steel Dueling Tree Targets - Suitable for Pistols and Rifles

https://preview.redd.it/taccv15nup4d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a19ca72586c640f160210cbe3e1fae47fd8428c
Imagine trying to perfect your marksmanship skills with a traditional target on a plain board? Boring, right? Enter the Magnum Target Duelling Tree Metals with tubes. These bad boys make every session at the firing range a whole lot more exciting. Picture it - a fully kitted out range, with the Magnum Targets standing proud as the pinnacle of targets. Oh, the thrill you'd have, taking aim at a 3/8 inch AR500 steel shield, while your buddy challenges you on the other end.
The Magnum Target is more than just your everyday shooting target. It’s made of high-quality AR500 steel, which means it can handle rifle rounds up to a whopping thousand feet per second (wow, that's fast! ). You're getting good value for your money here, and the precision cuts you see are just another testament to the product's quality.
But just like anything else, there are always pros and cons. While the steel paddles are sure to last a long time due to the precision cutting process, they are also heavy and can take a bit of extra effort to install. However, considering the level of protection they offer, this slight inconvenience seems like a small price to pay.
There are a few warnings in the product description, but hey, it's for your own safety, right? Always remember to wear eye protection, hearing protection, and follow recommended shooting distances. You and your buddy can share the duelling tree, but never use non-frangible or steel ammo, and definitely no armor-piercing ammo. That's just plain asking for trouble.
So, if you're planning on building your very own duelling tree, the Magnum Target is one way to go. It's rugged, versatile, and built for serious shooters. Plus, it's super easy to install, even for those who might not be the most handy folks. So, what are you waiting for? 2024.06.04 22:56 yoho607 Metal Cutting Laser; Commercial/Industrial grade?

I'm looking at new (fiber) lasers for my work and don't exactly know where to start. I've tried digging through existing posts from this sub (I don't like being "that guy" who asks things who are asked a bajillion times daily) and it seems like some of the info that pertains more to my budget range is may be a couple years old and possibly dated by now.
My team is part of a university's aerospace department (i.e. machine shop, fabrication and prototyping). We already have x2 epilogue fusion pro CO2 lasers for most materials. We have various CNC machines (including 4 axis), lathes, mills, water jet, multiple bambu lab 3d printers and much more. The extent of my laser experience is entirely with the Epilouge Fusion Pros we have (I've worked with nearly every material they're capable of). Basically we're hoping to expand our fabrication abilities with a new fiber laser to give us the ability to laser cut & engrave metals (mostly aluminum & stainless steel, which I know may be a stretch or at least requires a pretty powerful laser = more money).
Some details on product constraints:
I can provide more details on the product constraints. Essentially I'm offering to do a "product market research" presentation for my department in order to convince them to approve the purchase. $5k I don't even have to ask; $10k is still highly likely but will need approval; $15-20k I'll need to do a little bit of convincing but not entirely off the table.
I'm considering Omtec's FC line, although I don't know what the price range for their machines are. The Omtech FC-44 seems like a decent option but I need to know more/talk to a rep and get a quote. (Reaching out to them is literally my next step after I post this). It sounds like Boss & FSL are also other potential options as fiber laser manufacturers/distributers. A coworker sent me a link to a StyleCNC laser but this thing is an absolute behemoth (~4'x10' is way too big for our shop). However, I will say that the link for this specific laser has it priced starting at $14k so it kind of gives me hope that I could find something closer to my anticipated work space that's more in my budget. I also don't know if this laser is reputable either, and really that's important. I think my biggest factor here is that I don't know which companies I should be considering for our hopes/expectations from a fiber laser cutter. I'm leaning toward Omtech, but maybe there are others I should be considering for our hopes/expectations.
Can I politely ask for a place to start? Fiber lasers that fit most or all of our needs? Companies to consider? Your individual experience with specific fiber lasers and/or their customer support staff? Any resources you may have to get me pointed in the right direction would be much appreciated!

2024.05.31 19:58 cai24 Planning to Install Mini Splits - Looking for any Advice or Suggestions on Tools/Materials that I Purchased

I am planning to install a series of Mitsubishi mini splits in my house, and I purchased all of the tools and materials that I thought I would need. It ended up being quite a bit more than I originally expected, and I'm just nervous that I'm missing something or made a bad choice for one of the components. Could anyone take a look at my list and let me know if you have any suggestions, advice, etc? I can definitely swap something or place another order if I missed anything.
I felt very uninformed on certain choices. I wasn't sure if I selected a good torque wrench. I was deciding between a couple different brands, and I narrowed them down as best as I could. I also originally bought the 1/2" hose but then went back and got 3/8". It wasn't clear to me if the 1/2" is compatible with my vacuum, but it looks like it comes with an adapter. I'm a bit worried that I should have gotten a better vacuum, so if anyone can comment on that, I would definitely appreciate it.
I purchased most of the items from SupplyHouse and some from Amazon. I have the direct links for most of the items, which I hope is okay. I didn't include certain things like electrical wire, conduit, a tubing cutter, and siding outlets for the lineset penetrations. I also didn't buy mini split pads, because I'm leaning toward laying concrete pads for each unit.
I appreciate any input! Also, I'm aware that by going with Mitsubishi as a DIYer, I will be sacrificing the warranty. I am okay with this. The installation cost in my area is very high, so I can replace entire units and still come out ahead.

2024.05.31 08:51 DJ_TMC Anyone have a laser cutter or CNC I could rent?

Hey there, I'm in the process of making an electric guitar, and I'd like to engrave the serial number and the fret inlays. It's 27.25" long, and about an inch thick. Each engraving is smaller than 2" x 1/2". Before I moved, I've done a fair amount of testing with a Glowforge Pro with pass though, and came up with some good results. I haven't used a CNC router yet, so I'm sure there's a learning curve there.
I checked the inventory of the Eugene Maker space, and the UO's three maker spaces, and none seem to have anything that could handle it, as none of the machine are large enough or have a pass through channel. I did hear back from one pro company in town, but they want to charge about $150 or higher for the job, and this guitar is already pretty expensive!
Thanks, Troy

Cutting

Cutting is where it all starts in sheet metal fabrication, slicing up the metal into the shapes and sizes we need to work with. Techniques vary from simple shearing to more complex laser cutting, which offers precision and speed. Plasma cutting is another popular method, especially for thicker metals, using a high-velocity jet of ionized gas.

Bending

Bending sheet metal into the desired shapes and angles is typically performed using press brakes and similar machinery. This process involves placing the sheet metal on a flat surface, then clamping it and lifting it to form an angle. Accuracy is crucial in bending to guarantee that the angles are consistent and correct across all pieces. This technique is vital for creating everything from simple brackets to complex chassis for machinery.

Deep Drawing

Deep drawing is used to create seamless shapes like pots, pans, and enclosures. This technique involves drawing a sheet metal blank into a forming die with a mechanical punch. It all boils down to this, it requires careful control of metal flow and pressure to prevent tearing or wrinkling of the metal. Deep drawing is ideal for producing high-volume and consistent parts with smooth surfaces.

2024.05.31 05:06 a_mighty_burger Making a solder reflow oven. What material to use?

Making a solder reflow oven. What material to use?
Hello,
I am an electrical engineer wanting to make a solder reflow oven as a personal project. A reflow oven is a small oven that heats to roughly 250 °C / 500 °F in a tightly controlled manner. It is used to manufacture circuit boards.
A classic electrical engineering hobbyist project is to take a small countertop toaster oven and heavily modify it to convert it to a toaster oven.
I want to go a step further and fabricate the oven from scratch by shearing and bending sheet metal, rather than starting from a toaster oven. I know this will take longer, cost more, and look worse, but I want to take it on for the experience and learn.
With that, I have some questions regarding the sheet metal aspect of the project.
First - what metal should I use?
I'm imagining the design to be similar to a toaster oven, like this:
https://preview.redd.it/5n6jkyyddo3d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c20f7473d21b2d291a774b8bdbe7d95fb7fdefd1
Almost all toaster ovens seem to have stainless steel on the outside and some mystery metal in the inner chamber. I'm assuming it's aluminum or galvanized steel, but I'm not experienced enough to tell.
I am not concerned about thermal conductivity. I will add insulation between the chamber walls and the outer chassis.
I plan to use rivets and screws to assemble parts together, not welds.
Second - what gauge of sheet metal?
I don't want my project to feel flimsy, but I also don't want it to be so thick it costs an arm and a leg and it becomes impossible to cut and bend. I don't know what gauge of sheet metal would be appropriate for a project like this. 22 gauge? 16 gauge?
Third - will CNC plasma cutting work for this?
I have access to a local university's machine shop, which is where I plan on doing most of the metalwork.
They have a CNC plasma cutter. Specifically the ShopSabre Sidekick 8. I've never used a tool like this, so I don't know what to expect. Is a CNC plasma cutter precise enough to cut finer details like ventilation holes into sheet metal? Will it leave burn marks?
It seems to me like it's the easiest way to get complex shapes cut into a sheet of metal. Hand tools seem labor intensive and more prone to uneven cuts or other errors. But I've never done this before so I could be wrong.

2024.05.30 10:50 snorkfroken__ Linux users, what software do you use?

Fellow Linux users, I just got an used laser cutter (Sculpfun S30 Pro 10w) for a low sum. I do a lot of 3D printing (using FreeCAD + Cura on Linux), but now with laser cutting it seems to be less options, maybe? I found Lightburn but that cost money. Also read a bit about LinuxCNC that supports laser cutting as I understand it. However, I would love to learn what you Linux users are using for a smooth process?

Do any of you guys have the dimensions of the CVT cover? Have you done any DIY projects for a New translucent cvt cover? I drawed one from a gasket but i want to be sure before cutting in the CNC. If you know the right dimensions or have a DXF file with the cover?

2024.05.30 01:48 RRTwentySix I need help comparing high quality gold cutting lasers 😵‍💫

Hi friends!
I have an amazing family opportunity to start cutting out lots of high quality jewelry from 1mm thick gold-filled sheets. Engraving isn't important in this case.
Problem is I'm a plasma CNC guy and there are tons of laser table options out there, that all basically seem the same to me, and the prices vary quite a bit.
Like this 2000w system seems perfect and is around $32k, I've also seen some that are less than $20k.

Yet after speaking to these guys I can get their 2000w for around $80k

I know one's from China but could it still be the higher quality option?
Please give me some extra perspective or guidance here friends. Diving into this purchase while not fully understanding the massive price differences is rough.
Also if you have options you'd recommend I'd love to see them!
