I've been hosting since 2019 non-stop. I have only ever turned in one other damage report to Airbnb. Today, I did my second. The guests were here for just 2 nights and reported that the laundry machine was no working via phone call. It was very late and I was getting ready for bed. I told them that it is intermittently not working, but does when retrying, and that I could wash their items in my apartment (attached to the listing). They declined saying they were leaving the next morning anyhow. When they checked out, I began my cleaning / inspection and found damage to the microwave. Three half dollar sized areas had paint entirely missing, down the metal. You could see where they had tried to scratch off whatever baked onto it. I took pictures and immediately contacted Airbnb support. They directed me to the resolution center. I google the cost of a replacement microwave and sent a polite note asking that the money be paid along with pictures of the damage. The guest quickly declined the request, said the microwave was working fine when they were here, that they did not use it to cook (they cooked a ton in the kitchen), had only used it to warm up food, and then it got real nasty: they stated that I was trying to scam them for the cost of a replacement washing machine and they gave the exact amount I requested stating I had told them I needed that much money on the voice call last night. I shared all this with Airbnb support who encouraged me to block them and wait for the investigation, but they did dig into what I had told them about the washing machine. I explained that it works, but sometimes need retries, that I had had it repaired last year for the same issue, and that I keep the best home warranty, and that I never pay for new appliances but rely on my home warranty to repair or replace (which has worked fine for me). I just pay the monthly fee and deductible. I have eaten a lot of damage and stolen items over the years, but this time I felt the damage too much to let go, but all of this is why hosts just eat damage and stolen items. I hope this works out the right way.

Hi all! I live in the UK and I got a new job where I am required to work from home 2 days a week. Except I have now realised that my WiFi is way too slow for me to be efficient! The slowness is really frustrating lol. It's fine on my computer, but super slow on the virtual machine I have to use for most of my tasks. I've tried every trouble shooting I could (disconnecting all my devices, putting the router closer to my desk, turning it off and on, etc).
My WiFi is with BT Broadband. Last time I did a speed test, I was at 14Mbps download on my work computer. (I just redid one on my personal computer and weirdly it's at 40Mbps now??)
My problem is that my landlady is the one who has control over the WiFi. She doesn't like the fact that I work from home, so I just know that if I complain to her, she will not care.
I guess my question is: what can I do to fix this? Get my own WiFi router? How much would that cost?

I am rebuildening My larger CNC router and an entertaining the various lower cost industrial controls. Unfortunately i have never used any personally so I would like to hear from anyone who has if they are reliable, easy to use, full featured, etc.
A few of the ones I have available are:

• Siemens 828d. this is not really low cost, but at about 12k for a kit with single phase drives and servos, it should be here as reference. The 808da is not an option because it is 3 phase only and still not csa approved.
  
• delta 300. Actually don't have a price on the new version, but the old was in around $4500 with drives and servos. I was told by an integrator they are a dream to configure compared to other options.
  
• LNC 5800/6800. priced very similar to the delta using deltas ethercat motors and drives. I have been told by user (and even by LNC a few years ago) it is not quite ready for prime time.
  
• SZGH 1000mcd. closer to $3000 with delta pulse drives and motors. I have seen a lot of videos on these, it looks promising and the company is helpful with plc setup. A friend bought one for the brother tapping centre I sold them, but never finished the machine.
  
• syntec. i dont know the models. they seem popular on mid priced asian machines but i know virtually nothing other than that.
  
• gsk. again, know very little about them and their prices seem higher than the more proven options like delta.
  

Our baseline reference is linuxcnc, which is $2200 - basically the cost of the delta servos and drives, plus the mesa board. Linixcnc is of course very open and flexible, but the trajectory planner is 1980s performance compared to the siemens 828d.

Barbed wire is presently in use by almost everyone in some way or another. It did away with the necessity for fencing, allowing livestock to graze freely and travel freely within a specific region.
Farming might be done much more efficiently, and more people could relocate to the area. The primary rationale for employing barbed wire was that wooden fences were pricey and inconvenient for working conditions.

Furthermore, traditional barbed wire can be made from galvanized steel or low-carbon steel. PVC-coated wires, zinc-coated wires, and even iron wires are all options.
To keep corrosion to a minimum, the wires have been galvanized. Typical applications are land fencing, animal cages, residential security, and commercial security.

Types of Barbed wire

Barbed wire comes in different types, shapes, and sizes. These are listed below, along with extensive explanations.

1. Galvanised Barbed wire

Many countries currently employ this type for security, government buildings, detention centers, and military facilities.
The length and spacing of the barbs vary depending on the size of this type. The four galvanized single barbed wire spikes are spaced around 70 to 120 mm apart.
This type of barbed wire is distinguished by high tensile wire and is ideal for security applications. In terms of sharpness and appearance, its barbs are incredibly similar to razor blades.
Due to the thin, razor-edged barbs, intruders will find it incredibly difficult to climb over this type of barbed wire. Both the wire and the strip are galvanized to prevent corrosion.

2. PVC Coated Barbed Wire

This type of barbed wire fencing is mainly utilized for security purposes. It's a vinyl-coated wire that not only resists rusting but also increases the material's strength.
Because the layers are covered with vinyl, their wear is significantly reduced when in use. This kind is ideally suited to ocean engineering.
This kind usually has two twisted wires with four spikes placed roughly 65 to 120 mm apart.

3. High Tensile Steel Barbed Wire

This is one of the types of barbed wire; his collection has a curl width of approximately 1000 mm. Each spike is around 60 mm away from its neighbor, with a tip length of 13 to 20 mm. This collection is available in many different sizes.

4. Concertina Barbed wire

Concertina barbed wire is one of the different types of barbed wire with a one-strand line wire with many protrusions on it.
Because these protrusions prevent the barbs from sliding down, this type is commonly employed in chain link or expanded metal fencing for high security.
Sharp edges, corrosion resistance, rigidity, and stability are all characteristics of barbed wire. Airport fencing, farm, jail, factory, horse, and highway fencing are the most common applications.

5. Welded Razor Wire

Straight blades are soldered together to create this razor barbed wire. When it comes to security, it's a very functional type of barbed wire, and it also looks very appealing, thanks to its tidy appearance.

FAQ
Where are all your things made? By me, on my 1940s sewing machine, in my craft room.
What materials do you use? For the most part, everything is made in the USA and Berry compliant. Generally speaking, I use the following: AA55301 or MIL-17337 webbing; Berry compliant 500D Cordura; MIL-W-5664 elastic; Berry compliant 550 paracord; Berry compliant shock cord; either Velcro and/or generic hook and loop; and ITW or Duraflex hardware. There may be some outliers. All my thread is a TEX 75 heavy duty thread from a US company.
What will the slings fit through? Anything that has a 1" slot, whether it's a QD, HK clip, plastic clip, rifle sling mount, paracord, zip ties, etc.
How do I install this through something or to my weapon? Step by step procedure here of what I do.
Do I have any clips or QD mounts? Not at this time, no.
Do you do custom work? Sometimes, depending on my schedule, but any transactions would not be through GAFS.
Do I have XXX color or product? If it's not listed I don't have it at this moment.
Why did you start this? In 2022 or so I was in the market for an inexpensive sling in a color other than black and also made in the USA. After I made a few for myself I started to produce these as a low-cost, high quality sling for anyone who was in the same boat I was in.
Why do you keep doing this? It's fun! Sewing has let me be creative and make myself kit that I like! Also allows me to prototype things and pass on my "old stuff" to you!

I bought a MrCool mini split. Had one install issue where it seemed like the machine may be defective. Costco suggested they ship me a replacement for $0, and I ship back (at their cost) the original. After hearing back from the manufacturer a day later, we determined the original was fine and I could proceed with install.
Costco being great had already shipped the replacement. Now my original order is listed as "returned." I am hoping to return to sender the replacement order (which is being held at UPS for me), and then have the original order actually remain as the active (unreturned) order on my account - just in case there are future issues.
The live-chat agent could not really follow what I was asking, and didn't offer much help.
Will there be any issues if I return to sender the replacement order, keep the original (which is currently marked as returned on my account, though not actually returned and certainly not refunded) and ever need to follow up on the original order (i.e., if it does indeed malfunction in 3 months and the manufacturer won't help)?

I'm currently using a Krups machine for Nescafé capsules. Looking to reduce cost by using ground coffee or coffee beans instead.
Considering:

• I don't own a kettle or a microwave, so I can't heat water (which discards Aeropress?).

Being quite new to this group I thought I would share a bit of info into what I've seen with energy use on some of my bits and I'd be keen to know if anyone is into super low power stuff or solar or hell if you have the high score!
I tinker with my setup, but that is for another post. I have some tp link p110 smart plugs where I look at the energy usage of my machines here and there. When the energy prices in the UK went up a lot recently I started to pay attention and it became a part of the hobby. Here is what I have noted really just around idles as its an easier metric.
Optiplex 3050 i5 8500t 24gb (16, 8) 1tb nvme Idle proxmox Lan on WiFi off Fan still spins 9 watt idle.
Lenovo 320s i3 7100u 4gb (1x4) 128 ssd 1 usb hdd 5tb idle Rhel Idle WiFi off. lan usb (no rj45) 4 watt Idle. Can go to 15 if transcoding.
Lenovo x260 i5 6200u 16gb (2x8) 1 5tb hdd 1 sata ssd Lan RHEL with Windows vm running torrent, bitdefender, vpn 9 watt Idle can go up to 25 or so if its busy.
Pi 4 ubuntu server 1usb hdd 3 watt idle goes up to 4 or 5 if the drive is being accessed.
The 320s has a great little processor it uses next to no power but it just scrapes into the type of cpu range that can transcode 4k on the fly.
1 watt costs me roughly 20p per month so I find it interesting. Unfortunately I watch it more than I should but its part of the fun for me. Certainly helps me develop the rigour you need for avoiding big bills in the cloud at work🫣

I currently have a Breville Bambino and a 1Zpresso J-Ultra. I’ve gotten the hang of my machine and have managed to get some good shots from it. Obviously the Bambino has some short comings though and I’m looking to upgrade my machine.
I’ve got my eye on a Profitec Go but I wanted to see what the opinion of the more experienced/ educated is.
Should I
A) get the Profitec Go and stick with my 1Zpresso
B) get a different machine and stick with my 1Zpresso
Or
C) get a less expensive machine and a new grinder such as the DF64
My budget is 1400 CAD as that’s the cost of a Profitec Go.

Ever since Terminator 2, which is arguably one of the greatest sequels of all time, every single Terminator movie released since then in more ways than one tried to emulate it. That being by favoring its action-heavy set pieces and trying to top how big and bombastic it could get.
T3 had several like the crane chase through the city and the bathroom fight scene with TX. T: Salvation had the moto terminator chase or the factory fight with Marcus and the T800. T: Genisys had the bus chase on the highway, the helicopter chase in the sky, and the factory fight with Pops and John Connor. T: Dark Fate had a whole bunch - the factory fight with Grace and the terminator , the truck chase on the road, the plane and later dam fight, and the final factory battle with the Terminator, Grace, Arnold and Dani.
All of them had a terminator-like character that could protect the humans and take the heavy damage - T3 had the T850, Salvation had a human hybrid terminator in Marcus, Genisys had Pops, and Dark Fate had both an augmented cybernetic enhanced human in Grace and later the T800-turned ally in Arnold. Not to mention The Sarah Connor Chronicles which had Cameron, who was an advanced unspecified T800.
But no movie or show ever returned to the franchise’s roots of being a horrothriller by having it be humans vs the machines ONLY with no cybernetic help taking the hits. They’ve also more or less toned down the grisly deaths and horror elements from T1, even if the movies were R rated. Never again would we see a scene as gruesome as the T800 gouging his eye out in the sink nor tearing someone’s heart out or bashing up a regular guy like Matt so much that he bled to death because all of it was more focused on the action and spectacle instead of the horror and suspense.
And each Terminator movie has gotten bigger and more expensive in budget. Every single one after T2 cost within the 180-200 million+ range when T1 was made for a meager 6 million dollars as more of a passion guerilla-filmmaking run-and-gun project from a budding director making his official feature film debut (Piranha 2 notwithstanding).
Beyond the anime Netflix series coming out soon, perhaps the franchise’s salvation (pun intended) may lie in getting back to its roots. Especially since horror is a very popular genre. And to not break the bank on 200 million+ endeavors in a franchise that can’t guarantee a 200 million return on investment (Dark Fate barely made 200 million worldwide). More low budgeted and interpersonal - human vs machine and no crazy blow-up town chase and factory destroying, explosion heavy terminator-on-terminator action set pieces.

I'm new to Reddit but am looking for advice. I have the opportunity to buy a vending machine business that includes 6 machines (all have installed card readers and inventory management software) across multiple locations. The cost of the business is $35000 and it sounds like the machines make ~$500 per week (assuming that is gross revenue).
