Roche and aleve

I have the "Too Much" gene, in which when I want to do something, I go all in all at once. I've learned that is terribly incompatible with skincare.
I recently damaged my skin moisture barrier and wanted to share what worked for me to fix it. During my most painful googling many of the advice posts I saw were about long-term skin barrier damage and almost none about "oops. I just majorly effed up, now what?"
In case it's helpful to others, here's my journey back to happy skin in a little less than 2 weeks.

The Dumb

• Recently re-started Curology with minor tret (0.005%). Started using it without sandwiching.
• Tried the new Curology acne cleanser simultaneously (benzoyl peroxide).
• Decide to give a good physical exfoliation with a sugar scrub
• Spent about 5 hours in the summer sun with minimal sunscreen and no reapplication.

Within 2 days my skin was ON FIRE. Even water burned. My whole face with inflamed, red, and I was tearing up all day from the pain.
The Realization

• Because I made a bunch of changes all at once ("Too Much" gene), I KNEW the damage was from those products. Dr. Google confirmed the especially dumb decisions (benzoyl peroxide + tret + sun).
• Not only was I in a lot of pain, but I also had a big event in a week, and wanted to get back to normal ASAP

Things that Worked for Me
FIRST - stop everything immediately. Took an immediate pause on Curology and the cleansers, hoping that alone would be enough. It wasn't.
Cleanser

• KOSE Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil - For the first few days, this is the only thing I could use on my face without immense pain.
• CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser - after about 4 days, I was able to reintroduce a gentle cleanser. I only used it up to once a day and mainly because I needed to get slugging products off my face. If my face was particularly raw, I just kept with the oil cleanser.

Serums

• COSRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing Essence - Applied on a damp face, 2x a day. Kept in a fridge for extra relief. (holy grail)
• SACHEU Slick Skin Gua Sha Oil - Applied as needed - if my face was feeling extra dry.

Moisturizers

• Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer With Ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid - Used EVERY day. Yes, it still burned when applied, but I knew my skin needed the ingredients. Holy grail
• La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5

SPF

• La Roche-Posay Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 60

Slugging

• Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream with Pump Dispenser
• Vaseline Hypoallergenic Petroleum Jelly Original - truly the only thing that didn't set my skin on fire even at its worst

Pain Relief

• Vanicream 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Cream - use incredibly sparingly only when I couldn't even keep my eyes open. The Curology dermatologist said that up to 2x daily no more than 3 days in a row was acceptable. I only used it thrice, but it was so worth it.
• Aleve extra strength

Routine
First few days:

• Softymo oil wash
• Vaseline, reapplied as needed
• NO SUN, shut all blinds, wear a hat indoors, and a black mask if I needed to even step outside.

Subsequent days:
AM

• Cerave cleanser in AM. Used a VERY minimal amount, and rubbed in my hands before gently applying
• Snail mucin - a squirt on each cheek, on the forehead, chin, and a dot on jowls. Let it soak in before applying next layer
• Vanicream daily - Generously This will still slightly burn for about a week. Let it soak in.
• La Roche SPF - Generously.
• An extremely light layer of Vaseline or Vanciream in Tub (tub Vanicream is less greasy)
• If my face felt particularly dry in the middle of the day, I applied the Slick Skin oil
• If you need to go outside (or even sit by a window or take a drive), wear a hat and a mask. Reduce sun exposure as much as possible. And reapply sunscreen where needed.

PM

• Softyo oil wash
• Snail mucin
• Vanicream daily
• La Roche B5 (this stuff works wonders)
• Heavier layer of Vaseline
• SILK pillowcase

Exceptions to Routine

• Before working out, I applied another thin layer of Vaseline to help protect my skin from burn-inducing sweat
• When my face started to peel and crack, I applied the B5 in the am too (after the vanicream daily)
• My jawline got especially itchy, I applied the Vanciream HC 1% only in those areas where it was unbearable. I only used it about 3x total in 2 weeks as I wanted to really keep it to a minimum

It's been almost 2 weeks now and my skin is pretty much back to normal. Most of the burning from any product stopped at ~1.5 weeks.
Unexpectedly, my face was so inflamed, that even my eyes burned. I tried allergy meds, Visine, cold compress, but nothing helped. I couldn't even hold a conversation without squinting or blinking over-exaggeratedly. There were multiple points in the day I just had to close my eyes for 15 minutes to reduce the pain. Aleve seemed to help.
I will say that damaging my skin barrier finally got me into a consistent nighttime routine, so there's that....

(TL;DR summary: Accutane, horrible damage, life ruined, spoken to dozens of law firms, politely turned down after months of investigation, never given any details. What do I need to do? Is this completely hopeless? Were these all looking for an easy buck, couldn't find it, so the shoo me away? Should I just abandon hope of getting any justice? Is there some specific burden of proof that I cannot meet with "drug I took is known to cause (X), I had huge damage from (X), company producing (X) is liable!"?)
Hi /legaladvice/! Obvious throwaway account, I'm going to try to make this as concise as I can, but it's a fairly long story, I don't know what is and is not relevant, and it's really had a massive effect on my life, so bear with me, I'll pare it down or add details (within the rules of the site/subreddit) at your request. Also, although I'm already familiar with the concept of a throwaway account, I'm fairly new to reddit, and besides briefly searching for a past thread that matched my question, I'm completely new to /legaladvice, so please, if I've broken a rule or misstepped, point it out.
(I just re-read this, it's kinda turned into a novel, I apologize, I do not know what is and is not relevant, so I couldn't find much to cut off, apologies.)
I'm 28 years old, and from Texas, my "incident" took place with Roche first party Accutane, in the years of 2001-2003 (best of my recollection, should be within 1-2 years, took two different cycles). Like many users, I took it during my high school years. It was prescribed by a dermatologist, and being as I'm a male, they told me besides severe skin drying, and needing to monitor my blood triglycerides, that I didn't have much to worry about.
Upon taking it, I started having some problems that I didn't connect with the drug at the time (I was busy with football, keeping good grades in fairly advanced courses, and my father was on the other side of the state being treated for leukemia, so life was, at best, chaotic). These problems I now know were pancreatitis. I went on with life, occasionally experiencing these pains, and what I now believe was/is mild, but significant, and then becoming severe IBD/IBS (Irritable Bowel Disorder, or IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, however, you'll find in this matter, I'm putting the cart a little ahead of the horse).
I lived a fairly normal life with these two conditions, I noted it to doctors, but wasn't properly diagnosed (the conditions stayed with me long past my use of Accutane, although until a recent incident seemed to be slowly tapering off, rather than worsening), and their response was "ah, it's probably just gas, stop being a pussy!" (Not in those exact words, but I was prescribed a mild anti-flatulence medication and some overpriced Tums).
Then, in late 2010, I was doing something on my computer (making a level for a mod of a game a friend was developing, I know, doesn't matter), and suddenly felt a familiar pain in my lower back, which I still did not know was pancreatitis, I went to my medicine cabinet to grab a couple Aleve, and some Tums, and a small glass of water to stem the tide. Anyway, the pain kept getting worse, and eventually got to the point of being absolutely blinding.
I call my father, and ask him to take me to the hospital, since I'm in no condition to drive, and he'll be able to get to me much faster than an ambulance. Anyway, my memory of the ER is rather fuzzy, because the pain was overwhelming, and so much has happened since.
I woke up in the ICU about 2 months later. My first recollection after checking in and getting what must have been a boatload of opiates shoved in a vein, is waking up strapped to dozens of machines. I was convinced it was a nightmare...
Anyway, I'd been trach'ed (tracheotomy, where they punch a hole in your neck and prop it open to assist in breathing), I had a huge hole cut in my side, and a drain on an intestine (trust me, you really don't want details), and... Well, suffice it to say I had lived a pretty active life, and took pride in my athleticism in the past, and I woke up barely able to move my now-atrophied hands enough to hit the nurse call button.
I ended up spending 9 months in what I've come to affectionately remember as "Hell", getting a new definition of "the worst possible pain" almost daily, and losing all semblance of shame and pride, because of the machines I was hooked to, and the nature of my issue, I wasn't able to get to a restroom before "things" happen, and, well, they can't catheterize that end. So, after months of relying on these poor nurses to clean me after I soiled myself, and rotting away in a hospital bed watching the worst of what TV has to offer, a surgeon offered me a glimmer of hope.
Since I was young, and fairly athletic with a large amount of muscle mass before this happened, I'd survived the initial episode of what I now know is acute necrotizing pancreatitis (inflammation, caused gallstone, gallstones ended up blocking the bile duct between it and the pancreas, pancreas secreted enzymes, enzymes couldn't flow where they wanted to, pancreas secreted more enzymes, and basically ate itself alive, about 80% of it was destroyed, and subsequently removed), although I'd barely survived, I was making steps to recovery quickly (didn't feel quick. But that's what they told me).
Anyway, after a few dozen surgeries initially, some exploratory and "just-checking" surgeries, dozens of xrays, CTs, and even a few MRIs (to check if being under all that time damaged my brain, etc, for the record, apparently it didn't do anything they could detect), then some minor surgeries, and "oh shit the nurse tripped on a cable still attached to you and ripped it out time to put it back in" (yes, that happened) surgeries, and a few procedures to correct the damage that I'd sustained from them saving my life, and correct the damage I'd taken from the hospital-borne infections I'd contracted... Well, they said "one more and if it goes well you can go home", so, I went for it, and it went as well as it could have for an intestinal resection (cut out part of your intestine, and sew it into a distal part of the intestine, bypassing diseased or damaged tissue that's then removed), they said as soon as I got off the IV painkillers, I could go home. Well, the painkillers were nice, and I was legitimately in pain, but getting the hell out was much more important, so as I was told this, that was the last dose I got.
Anyway, jesus, that was a long explanation. So, my insurance company had decided to drop me as I went into the ER (I wasn't made aware of this), and I was now in debt a little over 2 million, and having recently re-learned to walk, was in no shape to go to work.
So, I've spent the last few years recovering, doing as much work as I can, and talking to law firms in my spare time... As I'm sure most of you are aware, most firms give free consultations, they generally hear my story, ask me for some kind of exclusivity if they take my case, then don't contact me for 3+ months... And then send me a form letter saying they aren't going to take my case, but thanks for considering them, and this doesn't constitute advice, and this doesn't mean I don't have a case, blah blah blah. Upon asking, say, why they chose not to take my case, they won't say anything.
Anyway, I'm now saddled with tons of debt, I live in pain every single day, and my entire self image (athletic, active) has been shattered, and essentially they're all telling me I really don't have a case (or I'm on a really bad luck streak of speaking with them) and they won't tell me what I need to have/add/remove/deal with/why I don't have a case/what is going on, and it bothers me that I've basically been completely destroyed by this, and I can't get anything going legally... Why?! It feels like I've been wronged very directly by a drug manufacturer (I can cite it being linked to multiple kinds of pancreatitis, and IBS/IBD in different forms), I definitely suffer from both conditions, the pancreatitis absolutely started in the same time frame as the accutane usage (the IBD came on more gradually, but is approximately the same time), and now I'm borderline useless and live in pain, and draw a small check from Social Security.
I actually don't know exactly what I'm even asking, but... I'm at wits end, and I don't know what the statute of limitations on such issues is, but I would imagine it's coming quickly. Uh, help? :\
