2024.06.02 08:01 Top-Dress-2723 What happened to Nour & the Merchant?

Hi everyone,
I never had the opportunity to purchase from Nour & the Merchant, and now that I have the means to, it appears that they may have gone out of business? I can’t find a presence for them anywhere online. Does anyone know what happened, if they changed names, etc?
If anyone has recommendations for Celtic-inspired pieces similar to Nour, or places online where you’ve seen pieces sold secondhand, I would love to hear your recommendations! Thank you so much in advance.

The bikes posted here are too light, let me tow you with my Cargowagen Neo.
This bike is one of the best things I've ever purchased. We always want to ride it! The family and I went on a 39 mile joyride yesterday around London in cargo mode, loved every minute of it.
Upgrades done so far are ergon grips, front wheel sapin strong spokes & hope 5 hub, ice tech 203mm front and rear rotors. Up next, rear wheel rebuild with the same spokes /hub, plus front shimano zee caliper and lever, rear brake slx lever. I think that will be it. Until summer.
Best value aside from unlocking the whole city for us, is making everyone smile as we roll through!

2024.06.02 08:00 Black_Sky_3008 8 more days left in the classroom before I am finished teaching and it's bittersweet 🥹

I started teaching in 2008. I've primarily taught in title I schools. 3 states, urban and rural. I hit a wall and had enough this year.
I'm expecting my 4th child in August. My oldest will also be a senior. My kids told me this year, their entire school career revolved around my students. We often stayed late (I did cut back this past school year) and they had to play on the playground or hang out in my classroom until I finised lesson planning or grading. I often volunteered for sports, clubs, PTO and other weekly commitments that required all of us to stay until 6/7 PM.
On top of that, some parents have (in the past 5 years) become insufferable. I'm tired of getting yelled at and accused of things by parents who are regularly tardy, irresponsible, in trouble in the community ( i.e. arrested/court) and don't even bother to call their students absences in (30-80 unexcused absences). It's some how my fault their kid is behind, despite not attending school regularly, not turning in homework, not completing their classwork or attending required/encouraged school events (like free tutoring, literacy night or after school programs) that would support them. I also had enough of getting cussed out and hit by students without consequence (I teach elementary) because it's more important for them to be in class (disrupting everyone and displaying agression) than it is for them to be at home.
I've had some great parents over the years. I've even had old students come to me and tell me what a great teacher I was. I still have students I run into that are older and give me hugs. This year I had several in my class and their parents love that I go the extra mile. I went to college for this and wanted to "be the change." Last month at an event there were 2 past parents that told staff how amazing I was with their kids and they molissed me working with their kids. But I think with everything else my heart is broken.
My family and I decided that I will be a SAHM (for the 1st time ever, I've worked since I was a teenager) and homeschool through kindergarten. We're also debating if I should homeschool my 3rd grader, since I'm licensed preschool to 3rd and have an MA. We're leaving the older 2 in school so they can do sports and get the full experience. I'll also finally be able to make their school events, PTC (because El, Mid & HS do theirs all the same day in my district and I worked before), class parties and awards.
My kids are happy. I'm a little sad. It's bittersweet. I used to love my job. I liked dressing up, decorating and doing themes- I was that elementary teacher. But my own children need me and I'm not subject to verbal or physical attacks at home.
One mom this year told me she didn't care I was pregnant (because I had OB appointments and had subs) and accused me of not doing enough for her child, then reported me to admin (they did back me up and found out she was lying via conflicting messages and information on her part) but she didn't have to insult and yell at me in front of students. I'm always open to talking with parents after school and am super nice. Admin told me not to take it personal, because she's had issues with other staff but it was so crushing to hear what she was saying, Id never talk to anyone like that. The last 3 years, I've come home crying several times.
Is this anyone else's last year? How do you feel? It's so hard to walk away one one hand but such a relief on the other. How did you cope with leaving?

🔗Alaïa Black Oval Full Rim Sunglasses with Grey Lenses

https://preview.redd.it/d145lfdql34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a64ab86ba71f057e152c59e8e6534c7135e96a5c
As someone who loves a good pair of sunglasses, especially when they come with the allure of Azzedine Alaïa's designs, I was intrigued by the Alaïa Black Round Sunglasses. Featuring a stunning shiny black acetate-metal frame and solid grey lenses, these sunglasses were a unique combination of vintage and modern styles that fit perfectly with my summer wardrobe.
What stood out to me the most was the brand's signature timeless legacy, which was showcased through the delicate sculptural shapes and edgy cuts. The acetate material was smooth but sturdy, perfectly complementing the lenses' high-quality UV protection. Additionally, the sunglasses were versatile as they fitted both indoor and outdoor activities, and their progressive lenses made adjusting to different light conditions a breeze.
Despite the stunning design, there were a few drawbacks. The sunglasses are slightly heavier than some of my other pairs, which might be an issue for those with sensitive noses. However, this didn't detract too much from the overall experience, especially considering the brand's rich history in creating couture-inspired eyewear.
All in all, I found my experience with the Alaïa Black Sunglasses to be an exciting blend of luxury and practicality. With the brand's signature style, they stand out as a unique addition to anyone's sunglasses collection, and I will definitely be recommending them to friends and family.

🔗Stylish Aaliyah Sunglasses with Polarized Lenses

https://preview.redd.it/b8kaywlql34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=073cfbb48d2f913a05a4de4bd9e72fe03b19e315
Take a walk on the chic side with these Aaliyah sunglasses. As a daily eyewear wearer, I've been blown away by the comfort and durability these Polarized beauties bring to the table. Adjustable nosepads ensure a secure and cozy fit, while high-quality metal arms and stainless steel hinges add to the sturdiness.
Not only do the lenses protect against 100% UVA/UVB and harmful blue light, but their scratch-resistant feature has me confident in their longevity. A splash of peach tortoise and black adds a pop of fun to any outfit. The multi-layer TAC Polarized lenses promise crystal-clear vision, and the full-rim, cat-eye frame shape is both stylish and practical.
The only thing better than these sunglasses is the warm feeling of sun on my skin! .

🔗Shiny Transparent Pink Sunglasses by Azzedine Alaïa AA0055S 003

https://preview.redd.it/8cub826rl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16e4ef17386fcc3982908a5487058f5b398eac5a
I've been sporting these Aazzedine Alaïa sunglasses (AA0055S 003) for a few weeks now, and I must say, they are a stylish addition to my look. Their pink frames with a transparent finish catch everyone's attention, and the solid ink blue lenses complement the overall chic style. The Cat Eye frame shape adds a unique touch to this full-rim design.
The sunglasses come with a Bridge length of 23 mm, and the Lens height is 44.30 mm, providing the perfect fit. Their Diagonal of 50 is ideal for a more comfortable wear. While they are made with Acetate, they still feel lightweight and comfortable.
However, one downside I did notice was that the pink frame is a bit more of a highlighter shade than expected, which might be overpowering for some outfit combinations. Nonetheless, the blue lenses make up for it and provide a stylish contrast. Overall, I would recommend these sunglasses to those who enjoy a bold yet feminine design.

🔗Aaliyah Transparent Light Orange Sunglasses with Petal Studs

https://preview.redd.it/zbgdipbrl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c72cc920891ca62e3fc732ce2d0dab9739695b3e
These orange Aaliyah sunglasses have been a staple in my everyday life lately, providing both style and functionality. I've found the soft squared shape to be incredibly comfortable, making it easy to wear daily. The Pètal studs on the frame add a unique and distinctive signature to the design.
One of my favorite features is the beveled acetate — it not only adds a bold and voluminous touch to the frame, but it also ensures that the sunglasses remain comfortable even after extended wear. And let's not forget the Category 3 UV protection, which keeps my eyes safe from the sun. The solid brown lenses not only look great, but they also provide excellent clarity, making these sunglasses suitable for progressive prescription wear too.
However, there have been some minor issues with these sunglasses – the transparent light orange frame may not be the best choice for those seeking a more opaque color. Additionally, the silver Pètal studs can sometimes catch on fabric or other surfaces, so be cautious when wearing them. Nonetheless, the overall experience with these Aaliyah sunglasses has been quite enjoyable.

🔗Sophisticated Acetate Aazzedine Alaia Gradient Sunglasses

https://preview.redd.it/xxb9hzrrl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01f26c6bae23ce2ab1144668f5daf744f914d107
When I first tried on the Azzedine Alaïa AA0062S 001 Black Grey Sunglasses, I was immediately drawn to their oversized, edgy square shape. The modern and contemporary look they provided really stood out to me. The micro studs embellishments added a touch of elegance, with their striking precision in decorating the spoiler and temples.
While trying them on, I noticed the beveled acetate, which offered great volume and boldness, without compromising the comfort. I appreciated the option for progressive lenses, which ensured a clear and seamless vision. The dark gradient lenses not only looked stylish but also provided excellent UV protection with Category 3.
However, I did find that the sunglasses were slightly more expensive than similar products on the market. I had to consider the quality and unique design before making the purchase. Overall, I'm happy with my decision, as these sunglasses have been both comfortable and stylish while providing the necessary protection against UV rays.

🔗Aazzedine Alaia AA0059S 002 White Grey Sunglasses - Modern Rimless Frames with Grey Lenses

https://preview.redd.it/mnypyk9sl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98e4ed15fdf65bdaee53e45149c5ba46a8731d88
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Azzedine Alaïa AA0059S 002 White Grey sunglasses. These shades are the epitome of sophistication and style, blending a timeless aesthetic with modern elegance. The shiny solid ivory acetate frame and solid grey lenses provide both visual appeal and exceptional UV protection.
The meticulous craftsmanship of Azzedine Alaïa really shines through in these sunglasses, as the sculptural approach and couture-inspired embellishments exude a sensuality that's difficult to ignore. I found the smooth acetates and edgy cuts to be quite unique and eye-catching, making these shades stand out in a crowd.
However, it's important to note that these sunglasses are not suitable for all face shapes, as they are designed to flatter heart, oval, round, and square faces. Additionally, the full-rim frame style might not be the most comfortable for everyone.
Overall, the Azzedine Alaïa AA0059S 002 White Grey sunglasses are a beautiful and stylish accessory that perfectly captures Aaliyah's timeless legacy. They're definitely worth a try for those who appreciate both fashion and functional design.

🔗Stylish Black Oversized Round Sunglasses by Azzedine Alaïa

https://preview.redd.it/83islzksl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1c7108c9ca57f291b24837a93f8d6ebf6431ee4
I've been rocking these Azzedine Alaïa sunglasses for a while now, and let me tell you, they're a game-changer. The oversized round frames are not only stylish but also great at shielding my eyes from the sun. And speaking of sun, these bad boys come with 100% UV protection, so you don't have to worry about those pesky rays.
The case and cleaning cloth that come with the package are a nice touch, too. They keep your glasses safe and clean when you're not wearing them. The only downside? They can be a bit heavy on the nose, but I guess that's the price you pay for style and protection. All in all, these Aaliyah sunglasses are a fantastic addition to any wardrobe.

🔗Azzedine Alaïa AA0034S Sunglasses - UV Protection, Grey Lenses

https://preview.redd.it/a2e2qw4tl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c816e5508685ede16e8bf135a6056e572125709
I've had the pleasure of wearing these Azzedine Alaïa AA0034S sunglasses, and let me tell you, they're a real treat. The shiny black frame and solid grey lens make for a sleek and chic look, perfect for my everyday style. One of the standout features is the 100% UV protection, keeping my eyes shielded from the sun's harsh rays. The tinted lenses are a welcome addition, making them even more practical for outdoor activities.
I also appreciate the option to replace the lenses, adding an extra layer of convenience. The cloth and case included are a thoughtful touch, ensuring my sunglasses stay in pristine condition. Made in Italy, these glasses exude a refined and sophisticated quality, perfectly embodying the Azzedine Alaïa brand. All in all, I'm thoroughly impressed with these sunglasses and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a stylish and functional pair.

🔗Stylish Red Acetate Sunglasses by Azzedine Alaïa

https://preview.redd.it/i4w2kugtl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d975433c3ef5137f70579ea6f00783cb96c53746
As someone who recently tried on the Azzedine Alaïa AA0058S 003 53 - Red Sunglasses, I must admit, they left quite the impression. The sleek oval frame shape, combined with the studded accents at the temple, gave them a chic, sophisticated vibe. However, the size might be a bit too large for those with smaller faces, although they're comfortable once you find the right fit.
What really stood out was the 100% UV protection and solid lenses, which kept my eyes safe from harmful rays and the glare. As a bonus, the case and cleaning cloth included ensure easy care and storage. This designer piece brings elegance and functionality together in one pair of sunglasses.

🔗Luxury Grey Azzedine Alaïa AA0065S Sunglasses

https://preview.redd.it/agmp70ttl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0da58f780a14f71cfd8b0aa0ec87679f440e16c0
I recently had the chance to try on a pair of Azzedine Alaïa AA0065S 001 Grey Sunglasses, and let me tell you, the experience was a mix of elegance and comfort. The shining light grey frame, combined with the shiny silver studs, gave a sophisticated yet edgy look, making it perfect for a day out or a night on the town. The recycled acetate frame felt smooth and sturdy in my hands, and the gradient grey lenses provided excellent UV protection and a clear view of my surroundings.
However, I also noticed a slightly more minor issue: the shape was a bit square for my face, and I had to adjust the fit several times to find one that suited me best. Nevertheless, the sunglasses' craftsmanship, modern aesthetic, and feminine vibe made it a worthwhile addition to my collection.
In conclusion, these Azzedine Alaïa sunglasses embody the perfect blend of luxury and practicality, making them a standout choice for any fashion-forward individual.

🔗Azzedine Alaïa Silver Grey Aviator Sunglasses

https://preview.redd.it/yb5rs5bul34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44a94e1bc9c251c9747837c0cfecdcdeee0c3374
Last week, I decided to give the Azzedine Alaïa AA0067S 001 Silver Grey Sunglasses a shot. These stylish sunglasses feature a shiny silver metal frame and black leather cover-bridge with a petal cut-out design. The gradient grey lenses provide excellent clarity, making them a perfect addition to my daily wardrobe. On a brisk afternoon, I paired them with a sundress and strappy heels, feeling both chic and comfortable in my new accessory.
The frame is a full rim style, which I appreciated for the added durability and snug fit. The aviator shape and 62-11-140 size were ideal for my head, but the sunglasses may not be the best fit for those with larger or smaller heads. One of the standout features of the sunglasses was the meticulous craftsmanship, showcasing Alaïa's renowned timeless legacy. The smooth acetates and couture-inspired embellishments truly make these sunglasses a work of art.
While I can't deny the quality and sophistication of these sunglasses, I must admit that the AA0067S 001 Silver Grey Sunglasses do come with a slightly higher price tag. This may deter some potential buyers, who would be better suited for a more budget-friendly option. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed wearing these sunglasses, and their stylish yet timeless design has certainly earned a place in my collection.

I recently tried the Alaïa Women's Alaia 61mm Round Sunglasses in the Ruthenium color, and I must say, they are a true fashion statement. The round lenses, combined with the dotted pattern detail, give off an air of sophistication and elegance. One of the standout features is the lightweight nature of the sunglasses, which made them comfortable and hassle-free to wear throughout the day.
The adjustable nose pads were a nice touch, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit. However, one downside was that I do wish the case and cloth had been included with the purchase. Overall, I would highly recommend these sunglasses for anyone seeking a stylish and functional pair of shades.

The dark-gray lenses provide excellent visibility, while the polished silver accents add a touch of sophistication. The triangular case, featuring the label's anagram, is a perfect storage solution between uses.
Overall, these sunglasses are an elegant choice for those looking to make a statement.

I recently tried on the Azzedine Alaia AA0060S 001 Black Grey Sunglasses, and I must say, the soft squared shape was a delight on my face. The Pètal, an iconic code, added a unique and distinctive signature to these sunglasses. I appreciate the four silver petal studs carefully applied on the front. Beveled acetate provided volume and boldness without compromising comfort.
While I enjoyed the stylish features of these sunglasses, I did notice that they didn't have any mirrored or polarized lenses, which might be a downside for some users under bright sunlight or driving conditions. Nevertheless, the overall look and feel of the AA0060S 001 Black Grey Sunglasses made me feel like a true fashionista.

🔗Azzedine Alaïa Luxury Recycled Acetate Sunglasses

Slipping on the Azzedine Alaïa AA0065S 002 Black Grey Sunglasses feels like a fashion statement. The square frame shape is bold, yet the full-rim style lends an air of sophistication.
What I love most about these sunglasses is their femininity and uniqueness, which echoes Alaïa's timeless legacy. The sculptural approach and meticulous craftsmanship are evident in the smooth acetate frames, which glow through the edgy cuts inspired by the sensuality of the body. However, the couture-inspired embellishments might not be everyone's cup of tea.
Overall, the Azzedine Alaïa AA0065S 002 Black Grey Sunglasses are a bold accessory that combines style with practicality. They add a touch of elegance to any outfit while protecting my eyes from the sun.

🔗Chic Aaliyah Stud Detail Sunglasses with Shiny Silver Frame and Grey Lens

📷
Azzedine Alaïa's AA0007S 002 sunglasses made my day brighter on a hot, sunny afternoon. The monochromatic lenses minimized glare, allowing me to clearly see the world.
The stud detailing on these oversized frames made me feel like a celebrity, and the square shape added a touch of edginess. But as much as I loved wearing them, I found the sunglasses a bit heavy on my nose.
Despite my minor concern, these sunglasses are worth the weight and a great addition to any wardrobe.

🔗Azzedine Alaïa Brown Sunglasses for Ultimate Style and Eye Protection

📷
Give these Azzedine Alaïa AA0056S 003 sunglasses a try for a fashionable and unique twist to your eyewear collection. I've been using these sunglasses daily and I can't help but be drawn to the shiny, gradient transparent dark brown to brown frame that adds a touch of sophistication to my look. What stood out to me, though, is the solid brown lens that filters out 100% of harmful UV rays, protecting my eyes from the sun's harsh glare.
The sunglasses feature a square full rim shape that fits comfortably on my face, while also making a statement about my style. The Azzedine Alaïa brand is known for its originality and quality, and these sunglasses definitely carry that reputation forward.

🔗Aalay Hollow Square Sunglasses - White

📷
I recently had the chance to try on the Alaïa Women's 48mm Oval Sunglasses in white, and I was quite impressed with their sleek design and comfort. The oversized frame adds a touch of elegance, while the solid lenses offer great 100% UV protection. It's always a boon that these sunglasses are made from Acetate, making them lightweight and stylish.
One thing I noticed was the saddle nose bridge, which did require a slight adjustment in the beginning. However, once I had them fitted perfectly, they were incredibly comfortable to wear. Another feature I adored was the 48mm lens width making them super easy to see through. I do wish the sunglasses came with a case and a cloth, but overall, the Alaïa Women's Oval Sunglasses were an amazing addition to my daily style.

I recently found myself reaching for the Azzedine Alaïa AA0061S 002 Beige Grey Sunglasses, and I've been pleasantly surprised by my experience. The oversize round shape makes me feel like a lady, while the bold acetate front frame combines beautifully with the light metal temples to create an overall sophisticated look. I love the petal pattern décor on the external part of the temples, which adds a unique touch to the sunglasses.
Wearing them makes me feel confident and stylish, and I've received several compliments on them. However, I noticed that the lenses can be a bit reflective in bright sunlight, but overall, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase.

2. Fit and Comfort

Aaliyah Sunglasses should not only look great but also feel comfortable on your face. Narrow frames, for example, may not be comfortable for those with wide faces, while wider frames could be too bulky for narrow faces. Pay attention to the materials used in the sunglasses, as well, as some may be more breathable and lightweight than others. In general, well-fitted sunglasses should not slide or pinch when worn.

3. UV Protection

Sunglasses must offer adequate UV protection to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Look for sunglasses that have a UV rating of at least 400, which covers the full spectrum of UV rays. This will help maintain eye health and prevent age-related eye damage such as cataracts and macular degeneration.

4. Polarization

Polarized lenses can be a great feature for those who spend time outdoors or in environments with glare. These lenses reduce glare and reflective light, improving your comfort and safety. They can also enhance visual clarity and make it easier to see in bright sunlight or around water.

https://preview.redd.it/bopv0nwxl34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c37a0f09393bd6c6968c4b0162c65d6ceb7a81b4

5. Frame Material

Aaliyah Sunglasses come in a variety of materials, including plastic, metal, and acetate. Each has its pros and cons. Plastic frames are typically lightweight and affordable, but some may not be as durable as metal frames. Metal frames offer a more sophisticated look but can be heavier and more expensive. Acetate frames are known for their durability and elegant appearance but can be heavier and more expensive as well.

6. Lens Options

Different lenses offer varied benefits depending on your needs. For example, sunglasses with mirrored or gradient lenses can help reduce glare and protect your eyes from additional light during outdoor activities. Polarized lenses are ideal for driving or sports, as they reduce glare and provide better contrast. Transition lenses change automatically from clear indoors to dark outdoors, offering a convenient option for those who prefer not to switch between multiple pairs of sunglasses.

7. Accessories and Maintenance

To ensure your Aaliyah Sunglasses stay in optimal condition, consider purchasing a protective case and cleaning cloth. These accessories will protect the sunglasses from damage and maintain their appearance over time. In terms of maintenance, clean your sunglasses regularly using a gentle solution designed for eyewear. Avoid using abrasive materials or cleaning solutions that may cause damage.

8. Budget and Shopping Considerations

While Aaliyah Sunglasses can be purchased at various price points, it's essential to consider the balance between quality, style, and cost. Higher-priced sunglasses generally offer better materials, construction, and features, although this may not always be the case. Be sure to read customer reviews and compare different options to ensure you're making an informed decision. You may also consider purchasing from authorized retailers to ensure authenticity.

9. Customer Support and Policies

Before making a purchase, be sure to review the retailer's customer support policies and return or exchange options. A reliable retailer should offer straightforward and helpful policies that put the customer's needs first.

2024.06.02 07:47 Sad_Interview774 Help

I don't mean to exclude anyone here who is not a POC, but I'd like to know how POC deal with this type of issue. Anyway all advice is welcome
I am stuck 😑. I started my spiritual journey in 7th grade with Islam, then went into Eclectic Paganism, Theistic Satanism etc. I love Orthodox Christianity but I cannot ignore the similarities between Christian teachings, practices & "pagan" practices, almost no difference. I love Orthodoxy, I agree with Buddhas teachings, I appreciate the pillars of Islam & certain practices, I enjoy Hindu services, I want to stay connected to my ancestors with African traditional religion. Basically I like it all & it's confusing me.

2024.06.02 07:46 AquaQirl_777 Should I send one last message?

I’m having a hard time to move on because I haven’t said my piece when he broke up with me. He blurted out things I didn’t do for him he said I took him for granted (he courted me for 7 months & relationship was only 2 months). We are childhood friends. Dismissing the fact that I love him.
His last text was like we’re friends when in fact I don’t want him to be my friend again.
Do you think sending one last message about how I feel would help me move on?
PS. The text is not about how I love him but all what I’m thinking, our faults, to tell him that I don’t want to be friends, and thanking him for the memories.
I feel so sad for the loss friendship & for my love to him.

2024.06.02 07:45 IntelligentRent4424 I don't know if I'm gay, or if I'm just really bothered by men. I need advice :/

I've always struggled with this. I went to all girls highschool so comong out of it I guess I expected men to be much better than they were. Women are so attractive and fun to talk to. I know that whenever I talk with a woman their intentions are gonna be good. I love flirting with women and just having that feminine energy around me. Women are all so different and unique. They have so much to offer. That being said, I also hooked up with a woman and didn't really like it. Don't know if it was just bad, or if I'm simply not into women like that. But I didn't really feel guilty about it like I do with a guy. Like the girl is still my friend and she didn't make me feel like I did a bad thing I guess which was nice. I've hooked up with men before and I do find I enjoy it. But I don't really find guys attractive. I don't physically look at them and swoon. I can't see it, I can't understand it. I don't even like talking to most men I've met. Even when guys put their arm around me I just physically cringe. I don't feel like I've ever actually had a crush on a guy either. I just say I do. Whereas with girls I have. I feel like almost every guy I've talked to has just bothered & disgusted me. Or dissapointed me. Like I just don't understand how other people can put up with such shitty behaviour and treatment. I don't think all men are bad, but I'm just dissapointed. I'm essentially very confused about what the heck my sexuality is.

2024.06.02 07:45 percyFI Freedom... On the wings of FIRE Part 3 – aka A few weeks Later !

Quick Summary -
44 M ( DISK ) worked for 22 years , invested for 20. We have been working in India throughout this entire period .
Realized a couple of years back that FIRE is possible .
FI & RE was targeted in 2024 for both at 35 X . With the uptick in the stock market currently at ~36X
( The 35 X was only our drawdown expenses . There are certain other buckets for Kid , Medical , WhiteGood Replacement on top . Details of which captured in the journey & drawdown Strategy . )

Part 1 1 was a few months back when the better half shared her experiences from the couple of months post her LWD , while I continued my extended notice period .
Part 2 was my LWD , bringing us to Part 3 – A month Down the line .
There will be hopefully many many months in this new stage of Life , but only one First month .
So here’s me with the on ground thoughts & key happenings from the first month .
(Apologies also for the long post )

While we were mentally prepared for this , the mind was still tuned in to the old way and started off as a somber evening & reminder for what we walked away from .
Was followed by opening a bottle of good whisky to celebrate what we are walking into 😊
( On a Related note , while the parents are being supportive , they still sometimes circle back to what we left on the table )

Waking up without Alarms has been one of the best things of the month .
Even though I am waking at the same time or even earlier , the fact that it is organic is giving the sense that the control is back with you .
The days floated into each other without bothering about what day it was . So Monday was just another day and no longer “Khooni Mondays” but then so is Friday 😊.
( Also after getting a sense of how convenient it is to go shopping / movie etc on a weekday day time as compared to weekends , i am hardly stepping out over the weekends !)

In this month though I did not feel inspired to immediately jump into them & in the spirit of having the freedom to experiment , did not start with any of them .
So it has been a Dolce Far Niente kind of month and am enjoying it a lot more than would have ever imagined ( Huh , who knew ! )
Btw PercyCute has been cooking On & off in the last few months and one of the unplanned things that I did get into was a cookout with her . I expected to win it hands down but lost and lost to the extent that even I did not vote for my cooking .
So that was more than a bit of a bummer and loss of bragging rights in the house .
A bit of digging helped me uncover the deep rooted and long running conspiracy towards making this happen , which has to be shared .
As newly weds and much lower down the corporate totem pole people we used to cook quite regularly and I was hands down the chef in the family .
A couple of years on , life happened and this got put on hold .
When Corona & the lockdowns happened , PercyCute saw an opportunity and as part of the afore mentioned conspiracy I was continuously on bartan washing duties while the smart Lady that she is kept on sharpening her skills, all converging into what happened !
Now that I am wise to it , I am up for the challenge and a rematch planned in the coming month 😊

It was a pretty exhausting period since it felt ( & was ) a step into the unknown . Was a bit curious/worried for how it would be post actually stepping off the proverbial cliff .
In this month I ended up not even looking at the excel once , keep aside updating it .
Got me thinking and made me realize that before the LWD we had things in our hands that we could do , including pulling back the resignation / extending the LWD by a few months etc . Post the fact , there was probably the realization that the horse has already bolted and hence better off with a Laissez faire attitude .
So now the updates / tracking will happen as per the original plan i.e every 6 months / 20% fall in the market from the last update .
So this was it in a nutshell 😊 If you have reached till here , Congrats & thank you for your patience 😊
Love to hear your thoughts , comments , experiences especially incase you are ahead in the curve !

2024.06.02 07:40 yungmeemz Out of curiosity, what are people’s LEAST favourite pets/ pets that never appealed to them? & have you changed your mind about neopets you loved or didn’t like before?

I never got the hype with Nimmos, when quiggles were RIGHT THERE.
I also have never particularly cared for Kyriis.
I also didn’t use to like Skeiths, but now my fave pet is my Skeith, and he was the first pet I painted with my main account.
When I first got neopets, I was OBSESSED with Lupes and Gelerts, but currently I don’t have either 😮

2024.06.02 07:40 IcySatisfaction632 Advice for managing the transition of moving?

In a few weeks I’m moving for the first time in 4 years. This is the longest I’ve lived in one area my entire adult life. But my spouse and I are moving about 1.5hrs away from our current area to start my clinical residency for my PhD program.
I’m super excited for this next chapter of my life, but after picking up the keys to the new place today & planning out our exact move-in timeline, it’s feeling real and I’ve been in a meltdown all evening.
Transitions are hard for me. I actually used to like them a lot & therefore moved around a lot, but I think it was more a form of dissociation/escapism/running away from my problems. But over the past several years I’ve done a lot of therapy & inner work to overcome those tendencies, and also this state is the first place I’ve lived that I’ve absolutely loved & see myself staying indefinitely.
Now the idea of moving to a new area & new house feels so overwhelming. Thinking about getting used to a new house layout, having a new bedroom, having to find/get to know a new grocery store and a new gym, making a new routine for myself & my dogs, the list goes on. Heck, I was getting ready for bed a bit ago and just the thought of having to find a new spot for my bath towels made me break down.
And all of that isn’t even including having to adjust to living far away from my main friend group. My spouse & I already have another friend group near where we’re moving, but we barely get to see them because we live so far away rn, so I’ll also have to adjust to this being my new main friend group.
It feels like so much and I’m struggling a lot. Any advice & encouragement is welcome❤️

2024.06.02 07:39 MrUnbeef (Seeking advice) Finally found a reputable breeder and want advice on my setup before the turtle arrives.

I am currently in the process of acquiring a Concentric Diamondback Terrapin (fresh water, captive bred). I have a 20g long for him, and went ahead and grabbed a 30g and a 70g for when the time comes. Care wise, I think I'm fairly researched on what I need and how to care for the precious lil guy, but I'd love some recommendations.
If anyone could also recommend me with how to provide brackish water baths as he will be housed in freshwater mostly.
Listed below is everything besides the tanks for the lil guy. If anyone has a better recommendation or input. I am all ears.
Zoo Med Dual Analog Thermometer & Humidity Gauge
Zoo Med Angled Stainless Steel Reptile Feeding Tongs, 10-in
Coralife Battery Operated Digital Thermometer for Aquariums
LvLrister Titanium Thermostat with Intelligent LED Display Submersible Aquarium Heater, 12.8-in, 200-watt
Zoo Med Nano LED Light
Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 UVB Compact Fluorescent Mini Reptile Lamp, 13-Watt
Zoo Med Combo Deep Dome Lamp, Large
Zoo Med Turtle Dock, 10-gal & up (Plan to upgrade to bigger one as needed)
Marineland Bamboo for Aquariums & Terrariums, 3-ft x3
Zoo Med Natural Aquatic Growth Formula Turtle Food, 54-oz bag
Zoo Med Aquatic Turtle Food Hatchling Formula
For the filter I purchased 2 ( the smaller one for his 20g long and obviously as he grows the Penn)

2024.06.02 07:38 DinoDaddyJay Vulvodynia/Vaginismus Relief

I have been struggling with vulvodynia and vaginismus for well over a year now and I have tested my fair share of relief products from over the counter to all natural to prescribed products. I have compiled a list of my favorite products and tips for reducing your pain and discomfort.
The Honey Pot: Anti-itch Soothing Wipes
https://thehoneypot.co/products/anti-itch-soothing-wipes
I always keep these wipes on me. They are perfect for itching, burning, and any other discomfort you may have. I’ll sub these in for tp if i’m having a real rough pain flare up. They are gentle, soothing, and immediately effective. If you are going to pick up one of the items on the list, this should be it!
The Honey Pot: Soothing Wash
https://thehoneypot.co/products/soothing-wash
I bought this in pair with the wipes and I will say it’s not as powerful but definitely helps for irritation in the shower. My vulvodynia can be aggravated by shower products and I have found that rinsing with this at the end of the shower really helps..
Coconut Oil (Any brand)
I have found that a lot of my discomfort and pain can be traced to lack of moisture. I like to take a little bit of coconut oil and moisturize the vulva. It has soothing effects as well as bringing the moisture back to your most gentle skin. It’s just like putting lotion on after the shower, sometimes your kitty needs some too.
4% Lidocaine (Prescribed Solution)
When the pain is completely unbearable, sometimes the only thing that could offer relief was the lidocaine. I got prescribed a liquid solution that I would apply on a cotton round. It definitely came in clutch when I could anticipate the pain. I would go to school for 7 hours a day and I knew I would be sitting for most of it. I would apply the lidocaine a couple times throughout the day to lessen the burning feeling. The only negative aspect is when you can’t anticipate a flare up, so you have to wait for the numbness to kick in.
Good Clean Love: Restore Moisturizing Vaginal Gel
https://goodcleanlove.com/collections/assortment/products/restore%C2%AE-moisturizing-vaginal-gel-products?variant=42223652339896
To be honest, I have used this product the least out of the list, however, that doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I haven’t had a significant amount of relief with the internal moisturizer to share many thoughts on it, but it was helpful after sex to reintroduce moisture. I find that my pain can be intensified after the act due to the friction and stripping of my natural moisture.
Good Clean Love: Relief Gel Pain & Itch with Lidocaine 4%
https://goodcleanlove.com/collections/assortment/products/relief-gel-pain-and-itch-with-lidocaine?variant=41612133826744
This product is fairly equivalent to the coconut oil, however, it has that little extra lidocaine for the increased relief. If you're looking for something more natural, go for the coconut oil, otherwise invest in this product. It was great for quick bathroom trips during the day to refresh moisture and help calm the pain. I will say though, the prescribed lidocaine is much stronger in effectiveness when it comes to numbing the burning sensation.
Donut Pillow: Amazon
This was extremely helpful for long periods of sitting and road trips. Sitting for long amounts of time is one of my biggest antagonizers for my vulvodynia so this pillow was a huge lifesaver. It made sitting so much more bearable, especially in combination with the moisturizers and lidocaine.
Dilators: Amazon
I was instructed by my physical therapist to try out a set of dilators to tackle the vaginismus. I can definitely say they made the biggest difference. Not only does it help lessen the tension with sex, it also helps tackle the fear and anticipation of pain. As you graduate sizes, the pain lessens and soon, sex does too. A tip my pt shared with me was to get dilators that resemble your partner. For example, if they have a curve, find a curved dilator set. Customize your treatment to make it the most effective for you!
Tips:
I hope this was helpful to those struggling as well and if you have any favorite products or tips, please share them! I’m still trying to manage my vulvodynia and vaginismus, so advice is greatly appreciated. <3

2024.06.02 07:38 BeatTerrible8778 17 Year Old Girl Looking For An e-pen pal Between Ages 15-19

Hi, you can call me Alice. I am 17 and am looking for an email pen pal around ages 15-19.
I live in Australia and my hobbies are arts & craft, drawing, painting, songwriting, anything paranormal related or even supernatural, Ancient Egypt history, pirate history, folklore/mythology stories, vast collection of different music, reading, crystals. I am pagan and I love nature and love animals. I am a kind person and will respect you no matter how many differences you have. I will accept you.
I will say that the minimum time gap between sending letters back and forth that I prefer would be up to one month. My preferred maximum time is once a week. I am open to the idea that you are not obligated to wait for the other persons response before sending another letter, and I am also open to sending multiple letters if that is what you wish to do.
So am I a good match for you? :)

2024.06.02 07:37 kingofstormandfire This the Top 6 singles of 1971 according to Billboard year-end list. Which one is your favourite?

Despite an impressive showing by Diana Ross, in the end, Simon & Garfunkel won the 1970 is a very decisive victory.
***
BTW, for singles that are credited are Double A-Sides, I’ve decided to just put the most famous song of the pair on the poll.
***
1) “Joy to the World” (Three Dog Night) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVcpKjXYa5c
This is the 2nd of 3 chart-toppers for American rock band Three Dog Night. It was written by Hoyt Axton. The song is a mix of rock and pop with a playful, feel-good vibe. Hoyt Axton wrote the song, originally intended as a part of a children's television program. The song's whimsical and nonsensical lyrics reflect this origin. "Joy to the World" is a cheerful and upbeat song that celebrates happiness and unity. The lyrics are light-hearted and fun, with the famous opening line, "Jeremiah was a bullfrog," setting a playful tone. The song features a lively arrangement with prominent electric guitar, keyboards, and brass. The production is energetic, capturing the band's dynamic performance. Chuck Negron, one of the band's three lead vocalists, sings the lead vocals on this track, delivering a spirited and enthusiastic performance.
Very enjoyable song. I like Three Dog Night quite a bit. A fun band, though basically a covers band.
2) “Maggie May” (Rod Stewart) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlFPDi1B-jM
The first of three solo chart-toppers for Sir Rod Stewart, it was written by Stewart and Martin Quittenton. The song blends elements of folk rock and blues rock. The lyrics of "Maggie May" are semi-autobiographical, recounting a young man's relationship with an older woman. Stewart has said the song is based on his own experience of losing his virginity at a jazz festival. The song features a distinctive acoustic guitar riff, played by Martin Quittenton, along with mandolin played by Ray Jackson of Lindisfarne. The arrangement also includes electric guitar, bass, drums, and Stewart's raspy vocals. "Maggie May" is widely praised for its storytelling, Stewart's emotive vocal performance, and its memorable melody. “Maggie May” was credited as a double A-Side with “Reason to Believe”, both from the album Every Picture Tells a Story. The song has been included in numerous "best of" lists and is considered a classic rock staple.
A monster of a song. Just wow. One of my favourites from this era.
3) “It’s Too Late” (Carole King) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkKxmnrRVHo
This is the sole chart-topper by singer-songwriter Carole King, but as a songwriter, King had written/co-written many Top 10 hits prior to this including several No. 1s. It was billed as a double A-side alongside “I Feel the Earth Move”. Both songs came from her second album Tapestry, which would go on to become one of the best-selling albums of the 1970s, and has been certified Diamond in the US. The music of “It’s Too Late” was composed by Carole King, but the lyrics were written by Toni Stern. Reportedly, the song might be about James Taylor who had dated Stern, and who would score a No. 1 hit of his own covering King’s song "You've Got a Friend”. “It’s Too Late” is a blend of soft rock, pop, and jazz influences. The lyrics deal with the end of a romantic relationship, capturing the bittersweet emotions of accepting that a relationship is over.
Nice song. It’s not my favourite off Tapestry, but it’s a solid song.
4) “One Bad Apple” (The Osmonds) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-pUJAWzUk0
The sole-charter by American pop group The Osmonds, a group of brothers who were teen idols in the early 1970s (particularly younger brother Donny Osmond). It was written by George Jackson and is a blend of pop and R&B, with a sound reminiscent of Motown and especially The Jackson 5. In fact, this was to be recorded by The Jackson 5, but The Jackson 5 themselves weren’t impressed and so it wasn’t released. The Osmonds recorded "One Bad Apple" in 1970, with Merrill Osmond providing the lead vocals while Donny Osmond sings part of the main hook. The song is about romantic reassurance. The lyrics tell a story of a boy trying to convince a girl that although she has been hurt by a past relationship ("one bad apple"), she should not let that experience ruin her faith in love. The song features a lively arrangement with upbeat rhythms, harmonised vocals, and an energetic pop sound. The production includes prominent use of strings and brass, adding to its vibrant feel.
People hate this song, and I get it. It's such a Jackson 5 rip off, but I love it. So catchy. I like the Osmonds.
5) “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” (The Bee Gees) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzhmwJI8Bps
The first of nine US chart-toppers by The Bee Gees, this song was written by Barry Gibb and Robin Gibb. The song is a blend of soft rock and pop, with soulful influences. The song was written during a period when the Gibb brothers were reconciling after a brief breakup of the Bee Gees. The lyrics reflect themes of heartache and longing for resolution.
I dunno, I like The Bees Gees a lot, but I find this song painfully boring and unmemorable. They had another song from around this time called "Lonely Days" which went #2 Hot 100 and #1 Cash Box that I think is much much better.
6) "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)" (Raiders) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVxYL2sI1oM
The sole chart-topper by the rock group the Raiders, formerly known as Paul Revere and the Raiders. As Paul Revere and the Raiders, the group had enjoyed multiple Top 40 hits during the mid-to-late-60s, including several Top 10 hits. The song was written by John D. Loudermilk. The song was originally recorded by Marvin Rainwater in 1959 under the title "The Pale Faced Indian," but it did not achieve significant success. The Raiders version however was a No. 1 single. The song's lyrics recount the forced relocation of Native Americans, particularly focusing on the Cherokee's removal from their ancestral lands in the south-eastern United States, which is often referred to as the "Trail of Tears." It serves as a lament for the suffering and loss experienced by the Cherokee people.
I actually really like this song, but I have a feeling most people in this sub won’t.
***
Rounding out the Top 10 is “Go Away Little Girl” (Donny Osmond) (No. 7), “Take Me Home, Country Roads” (John Denver) (No. 8), "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" (The Temptations) (No. 9) and “Knock Three Times” (Tony Orlando & Dawn) (No. 10).
An interesting and eclectic Top 10. Not the best (and not indicative of the behemoth that is 1971 in terms of music quality), but certainly not the worst of the 70s.

2024.06.02 07:36 LowerFilm7338 Question on branch policies regarding waiver for MDD/SI recurrent instances

Forgive the lengthy paragraphs. Going to best describe my situation best I can to get the most accurate advice while not getting too personal. Wasn't my intent to write a life story but figured the detail would help get a better picture.
I'm currently talking to an Army recruiter and in the process of having my complex sent to MEPS for a prescreen with the paperwork I had regarding pharmacy records, hospital stay, and counseling. I been doing research on the waiver processes because I know I will need one and decided to research the Navy's guidelines since I heard they were fairly liberal with how they handle waivers in case the Army didn't work out. That's just what I heard, don't know how true it is. Looking through, I came across that if you had recurrent depression episodes, which I assume means more than one instance, then your chances of a waiver are essentially zero. Upon reading that, I got heavily discouraged but still taking my shot.
My situation is this:
(First instance) When I was 14, I got diagnosed with MDD and was on antidepressants until I was 16. I didn't have the best family or social life growing up and dealt with instances of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse from family members who loved to drink (major alcoholism) or had anger problems which were sometimes taken out on me. I also attended a ghetto public school where I was often bullied or harassed since I didn't talk to anyone and being "different" since by this time I was in a depression due to home life and was known as the "white boy" where kids joked about me being a school shooter because I seemed like a stereotype. My parents married other people who also had their own issues that invited more various forms of abuse. In middle school, I became so fed up with life that I went to the counselor expressing suicidal thoughts because of my circumstances and wanted help. I ended up getting therapy and reluctant parents who had to sit with me in some sessions so I could voice my disdain. Suffice to say, my parents opted for medication instead rather than changing behaviors and my environment. Since it was so long ago, I don't remember all the details of the meetings. I do know it was very multi-layered between family, school, and my lifestyle at the time. Once I became 16 and became involved with a good group of religious kids at my high school and extracurricular activities, my depression started to naturally fade away and I got off my medication. At this time also, I ended up finishing my Eagle Scout and also joined a church which provided me an amazing support group, friends, and meaning to life. For once, I felt truly happy.
TL;DR Shit luck, bad upbringing, bad lifestyle, got better once I got older and developed more freedoms to get away from home and become my own person.
In my senior year of high school, I tried joining the Marines since I always wanted to be in the military as a career but because I made the decision to be honest about my psychiatric background, I got denied and was told I needed to wait another year before applying for a waiver. Distraught, I ended up going on a mission for my church instead for two years in Europe.
Coming back home in 2017 and not knowing what to do with my life now, I went to college since that is what every other kid was doing. In 2018, I saw a Marine recruiter walking around and felt a spark which motivated me to give the military another try. In Arizona, my home state, one of my old psychiatrists threw away my medical records since Arizona law allowed her to do that 3 years after my 18th birthday if I never had any issues (clean slate, if I remember this correctly) since then. I told my dad this who encouraged me to lie to the recruiter about my mental health history. I didn't feel good about doing that but went with his advice anyway. I made it through MEPS with no problems but when it came for the final meetup with the Marine liaison to sign the papers, he questioned my previous attempt to join which is where I confessed the story. MEPS then disqualified me and told me to bring in more paperwork. The recruiters were upset but liked me so much they were willing to help me go through the waiver process since I was really motivated. However, I got burnt out on the waiver process and also because I needed a letter from my parents detailing their side of the story which I know they wouldn't admit to their faults (which the recruiters agreed since they heard my dad screaming and yelling when I told him what I did on the ride back from MEPS lol).
(Second instance) So with the military out of the picture, I was completely lost in life and didn't know what else to do since I never anticipated to be in this situation. I ended up working weird side jobs in 2018 and going back to Europe to teach English before coming back to the US. I was 22 at the time and just barely starting college which made me feel self conscious when everyone else was 18 and already knew what they wanted to study. I felt far behind. I decided to pursue a degree regardless since I didn't want to be a college dropout. In 2020, I met a girl from my precalculus class and we started talking once the pandemic hit around March or so. We eventually became infatuated with each other and would talk over the phone and zoom each other every day. I also met her family before at a wedding reception and they took a liking to me and flew me up to Alaska to visit them and their cabin at the end of 2020. I was planning on proposing to this girl and thought I struck gold. Eventually, it came to be that she had issues with commitment and was scared of things going further so she decided to cut off all relationship status which threw me in a loop. During this time, I was still struggling with being self conscious due to my age in comparison to others, had financial difficulties since my family couldn't afford me to go to college and I didn't qualify for scholarships, my best friends getting married and ending communications, social isolation due to the pandemic, and lack of job prospects being that I was stuck in a rural Idaho college town during this time. So all this together added up and I felt like I failed life and I was the problem which sent me into an emotional distress. Having suicidal thoughts again, I sent myself into a behavioral health facility so I could calm down and not do anything drastic. I was released after two days and saw a counselor at my university. I was on medication for two months before getting off once I had time to recover after everything that happened. After taking some time away from college to get money to pay for the medical events, I went back and got my degree in Bioinformatics & Data Science.
TL;DR Covid life, college kid issues, isolation in rural Idaho, and relationship drama took it's toll on me
It's been a little over 3 years now and here I am again. I'm 27 with a degree and been struggling to find a job in this current market. However, the military always keeps coming back in my mind since nothing else in the civilian sector really excites me or gives the same meaning and purpose as military service. I really do think I belong in there. So this is my "three strikes and you're out" where I am going for the third shot in hopes something sticks.
If you read this far, you probably think I'm just a liability ready to happen. In truth, I would love to think I am someone who means well and wants to do the right thing but was dealt with a bad hand in life outside my control and without much direction. I remember always being told by people that if you are struggling emotionally, get help; and that's what I did. However, obviously when you are going through those emotional distress episodes, you tend to say things you don't actually mean which end up on the paperwork. In hindsight, I probably could've handled some situations better but that's easier to say now when I'm older than back then and much of the detail usually doesn't get expressed to the counselors properly.
So I guess my question is, what are the odds of the Army, or any branch, viewing an individual case like this and giving it a consideration? Is it a hard no since it was technically two different episodes of depression with SI which is "recurrent" or is there some leeway since mine was situational? I tried doing the right thing in getting help and I have been doing far better now for 3 years. My recruiter said she has worked with people who have been through worse and those she thought couldn't get in but had their waivers approved but a part of me doesn't know if she is being entirely honest since recruiters can sometimes give false hope. Thoughts?
