This Sub-Reddit will be more specifically geared towards my own personal journey towards the ENAUTO 300-435 exam, notes both freestyle from helpful resources I find online, to some notes I have from instructor led courses. If you are aiming to take the ENAUTO exam or just want to cherry pick some info to pass the CCNA / CCNP Enterprise you are in the right spot! :)

2024.05.19 06:01 bradleydonmorris Panoramic Router blocks CloudFlare tunnel

Switched from Windstream to Cox Fiber 2gb. I use cloudflare tunnels on my home lab server. This works fine over my Windstream connection. Nothing to configure on the router. When I plug the server into my Cox router, I'm only able to access it over local IP. Can't access it from the internet like I can over Windstream. I've tried rebuilding the Cloudeflare Tunnel and reinstalling cloudflared on my ProxMox sever with no luck.
CloudFlare reports 502 bad gateway on Cox. I’m sure Cox is blocking it somehow, but the salesman said it would work. So far Cox hasn’t provided any assistance.
Anyone else dealing with this, and may have some tips? TIA.

2024.05.19 03:15 gm33 Recommendations for an equipment cabinet or desk?

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for furniture to store home equipment (NAS, router, modem, switch). I’m open to any configuration, but not looking for a typical metal sever rack or cabinet, or metal furniture only.
Would like ideally something that looks like furniture, such as a media cabinet, or perhaps a computer desk desk that has built in mental shelves, but the surrounding furniture should be wood or the like. Nothing I have is rack mountable. Bonus points if I can keep my laser printer on it.
Thanks!

2024.05.19 03:10 idotootes Home VPN weird issue

I have a Wireguard VPN instance running on my OPNsense router at home. When I'm away from home, all my devices connect to it without any issues. However, when I'm at my girlfriend's house, things get strange.
My cell phone connects to the VPN perfectly and I can access my home server, along with web services like Pi-hole and Radarr. But my laptop doesn't behave the same way. I can't connect to any web services or SSH into my home systems.
Interestingly, a "what's my IP" check on the laptop shows my home IP address, as expected when connected to the VPN. I'm puzzled why I can see my home IP address, but can't access any of my home services. Since my cell phone works fine on the same Wi-Fi, I suspect the issue lies with my laptop's configuration.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.19 02:31 ChickLegs Looking for a low budget router recommendation

One of the rooms in my house has a very low signal strength. I have an ethernet wall outlet in that room. I'm currently searching for a 10/100/1000 router with support for 1Gbit wireless internet, which will be used as a wired access point and a wifi extender. On the same note, do all / most recent routers support automatic mode configuration. If not, how bothersome is it to configure a router yourself, to work as described?

2024.05.19 01:56 breadrising Just set up my XE75 Deco Network. One of my Satellites cannot be found no matter what I try.

I've come across this problem through some Google searching, but to add a complication, everything is running through my CenturyLink C2000T RouteModem which I had to configure to Bridge Mode (which CL does not make easy). All of this is for the 3x XE75's I bought as a triple pack starter kit.
After many trial and error attempts, I successfully managed to set up my Main Deco. I have two satellites that the app prompted me to plug in immediately (S1 and S2). While I was plugging those in, the app prompted a Firmware update, so I ended up hitting okay while I was still plugging in the other Decos. Main and S1 were successfully in the network. My network found S2 for a quick second, but then was unable to find it again, giving me the notification that S2 was no longer connected.
I tried everything. Resetting S2. Moving S2 so it was right next to Main. Connecting S2 to Main via an Ethernet cable. The last thing I tried was to remove S2 from my Network to see if I could add it back in manually. It has failed to find it.
From my Google searching, I believe the situation is that S2's firmware update failed, so now Main cannot find it when they were successfully updated to the latest version.
A past Reddit thread basically advised to set up a new dummy network with S2 as the Main Deco so that S2 can update its Firmware. However, when trying to create a new network and connect S2 as Main, my app still won't find it nor can I connect to S2's temporary Wifi for set-up purposes. The app refuses to find it, so I seemingly have no way to update its Firmware.
I'm not sure if this is an issue with S2 just being faulty (all the lights indicate that it's fine, and it DID initially connect to my Network for a hot minute before the whole firmware update mismatch kicked in). Or if it's the fact that my Bridge refuses to connect for some reason?
Is there a way I can manually update this stupid thing? Or is there something else I'm overlooking for a fix? I'm two steps away from pulling out my hair. Setting up this product alone with a CenturyLink Bridge Modem was painful enough (and took me a full week of testing and trying different options and wasting my time with CL tech support). But on top of this one of my network nodes is just straight up not working with seemingly no manual workaround.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.

2024.05.19 01:26 Crackaveli_8406 Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Pi-hole with a Router Lacking DNS Options

1. Install Pi-hole and Assign a Static IP

2. Access the Pi-hole Web Interface

3. Configure DHCP Settings in Pi-hole

4. Advanced DHCP Settings

5. Set Static DHCP Leases

6. Configure DNS Settings in Pi-hole

7. Restart Pi-hole or DHCP Server

8. Finalizing Configuration

Verification and Troubleshooting

  1. Restart Devices: Restart your router and any connected devices to ensure they receive the new DHCP settings.
  2. Check Pi-hole Logs: Look at the Pi-hole query logs to confirm that DNS requests are being routed through Pi-hole.
  3. Test Connectivity: Ensure internet connectivity on all devices. Use nslookup or dig to verify that DNS queries are being handled by Pi-hole.

Notes

Only important if you dont know what static and dynamic Router address are otherwise ignore it:

Edit : Static MAC and IP of the router : If you're confused about what I mean by static and dynamic IP, MAC addresses of the router...:

In your router's network settings, you'll likely find an option to view your Static IP for the Router. Additionally, there will be a STATIC MAC address associated with its STATIC IP, which is different from the dynamically assigned IP and MAC of the Router.
The IP address of the static assignment is usually longer and unique for each router (STATIC). It's crucial to use this specific STATIC MAC address and STATIC IP OF THE ROUTER when configuring static DHCP leases in Pi-hole, rather than the MAC address associated with the dynamically assigned IP.
This ensures that the router consistently receives the same IP address from Pi-hole. So, instead of using the IP "192.168.0.1", you should use the Static IP of your ROUTER along with its corresponding STATIC MAC address found in your router's settings.
This way, your Pi-hole works automatically on all devices that connect to your WLAN. If you have a second router, you can TRY and SHOULD adding the Pi-hole's static IP to DNS settings; however, typically, all traffic runs through the FIRST router and should be filtered accordingly. Ensure to perform these configurations also on your 2nd Router (if you have one) and on your MAIN router.
Locate Router's Network Settings: Access your router's administration panel through a web browser. Typically, you can do this by entering your router's IP address (usually something like "192.168.0.1") into the address bar. Log in using your router's username and password.
  1. Find Static IP for the Router: Look for an option related to network settings or LAN settings. Within this section, you should find an option for finding the Static IP of your router. This static IP address will be used to ensure consistency in network configurations.
  2. Identify Static MAC Address: Alongside the static IP address, you'll also find a MAC address associated with it. This MAC address is unique to your router and is used to identify it on the network. Make note of this MAC address as you'll need it later.
  3. Configure Static DHCP Lease in Pi-hole: Access the Pi-hole web interface and navigate to the DHCP settings. Find the section for setting static DHCP leases. Here, you'll add an entry for your router.
  4. Enter Router's Static MAC and IP: In the static DHCP lease configuration, enter the MAC address you found earlier along with the static IP address assigned to your router. This ensures that your router always receives the same IP address from Pi-hole.
  5. Update DNS Settings in Pi-hole: Navigate to the DNS settings in the Pi-hole web interface. Add the static IP address of your router as one of the upstream DNS servers. This ensures reliable DNS resolution for your network.
  6. Verify Configuration: Double-check all entries for accuracy. Ensure that you've used the correct static IP address and MAC address for your router.
  7. Save Settings and Test: Click save to apply the settings. Restart your Pi-hole device to ensure it recognizes and applies the new settings. You can also restart your router for good measure.

Domain-Driven Development (DDD)

Moschitta encourages following Domain-Driven Development principles to ensure the software's design aligns closely with business needs. This involves: - Understanding the Domain: Collaborate with domain experts to gain a deep understanding of the business logic and processes. - Defining Boundaries: Create clear boundaries between different parts of the system to ensure that each part is focused and maintainable. - Modeling the Domain: Develop a model that accurately represents the domain, using entities, value objects, aggregates, and repositories.

Automation and Git Workflows

To optimize development processes: - Automation: Use scripts and Makefiles to automate repetitive tasks such as testing, building, and deployment. - Git Workflows: Implement effective Git workflows (e.g., GitFlow) to streamline collaboration and ensure a clean codebase.
```makefile
Makefile example
install: pip install -r requirements.txt
test: pytest
run: python main.py
.PHONY: install test run ```
Conclusion
The Moschitta Framework offers a robust and flexible foundation for developing modern Python applications. Its modularity, asynchronous design, and adherence to Pythonic principles make it an excellent choice for developers seeking performance and maintainability. By leveraging its individual and compound modules, adhering to DDD principles, and optimizing workflows through automation, developers can build efficient, scalable, and maintainable applications.
2024.05.19 00:59 Ok-Touch-5025 Is NixOs right for me?
The bad of other distros
My use case
I use my computer for everything. I mean, I develop software, run games, and have an android emulator for some apps, and run some selfhosted services such as jellyfin.
I want a stable setup that is similar to the production server, as the software I develop mostly things that I use myself and then deploy to the web for people using it
Debian/Ubuntu
This is a stable until you need the latest software and you start adding too many external repositories, or the other setup it is using other package managers or formats such as flatpak, snaps, appimages etc..
Arch
The software is always up to date, with the AUR having a large software repo, I could use one single package manager for getting most of the software I need, the problem started when it started to break dependecies with my own projects.
Also is not fun when your system breaks due to running an update, and this has happened sometimes with arch with driver, python packages ...
Another problem that affects both distros is the following: I used the archinstall script, and I didn't notice that by default it creates a root partition of only 20GB, most the space was used by packages, but I couldn't figure out which packages were needed for my setup; uninstalling one would break the dependency of another, making me have to reinstall without knowing which packaged I needed for which projects, which packages could I safely delete etc...) or resize the partition
The good about Nixos
I have been using NixOs a week, and configuring my system with nix os made it so that I could easily remove packages that I didn't need, have both unstable and stable versions of software, rollback changes that would break my system
and something that I couldn't do on the others, my system computer doesn't works and she has to use my computer from time to time, with NixOs I could intall different packages for each user, and the 2 desktop enviroments didn't messed up with the config files.
The bad about Nixos
I don't want to nixtify everything, and it seems if I want to keep using nix, will have to.
For me configuration.nix it is enough, but when I do things I consider normal in other distros they are not on nix os. In a lot of forums, Nix solutions are recommended for everything, like flakes. Home manager, which are still experimental features.
  1. Changing the GTK theme using a zsh shell env variable [hyprland wiki](https://wiki.hyprland.org/0.33.0/Nix/Hyprland-on-Home-Manager)
  2. CS50 library I was doing the CS50 course again and I needed to use their (library)[https://cs50.readthedocs.io/libraries/cs50/c/\] which is not package for nix, in a normal distro it is just sudo make install. but on nix I have to look into the docswhich are not great, and write dozen of nix files.
I said well on the distros it is not reproducible, so let's try writing the required nix files to make it work
  1. A broken package I have tried installing (taskell)[https://github.com/smallhadroncollidetaskell\], but even though I allowed broken packages in my config, it wouldn't install
    1. No able to run linux binaries
I said, Well, let's try to run the binary, as nix os is not a FHS complaint. Not able to run them. Making shell files for each project binary that I want to use disrupts my workflow.
So I turn to the community for providing guidance in how to make NixOs work, or Maybe I should use something else?.
2024.05.19 00:22 MannixdieKlinge No Internet Access after fresh install
No Internet Access after fresh install
Hello everyone, this is my first post in the OPNsense community. Unfortunately I have no internet after a new installation and have now also set up OPNsense a second time. More than 24 hours have passed between the initial installation and now, during which I have tested a lot and browsed through several forum posts.
https://preview.redd.it/6nlnpmekf91d1.png?width=1857&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc92378ba1b6587af23a44eb6510481312f360b5
About my network configuration
========== FritzBox network: 192.168.178.0/24 ==========
LAN IF Router: 192.168.178.1
IF1(WAN OPNsense): 192.168.178.254
========== OPNsense network: 192.168.24.0/24 ==========
IF2(LAN OPNsense): 192.168.24.1
I have set up static routing to ensure that the OPNsense network is also routed. At times I also had the OPNsense running as an exposed host, but unfortunately this did not have the desired effect.
https://preview.redd.it/yt17r9hcf91d1.png?width=1492&format=png&auto=webp&s=2a55d70f16417a70ac35085ceb0adcaf51d23a96
I have tested whether the name resolution works, which is definitely the case. Both from the firewall and from the client (see picture with tracert). So my guess is that the outgoing connection is working, but the incoming connection is still causing problems at some point (maybe NAT).
trace route with OPNsense actually didn't worked for me
I have cancelled the blocking of private networks, as some of the connections come from my upstream FritzBox network, is that correct?
I would be very happy and grateful if you as a community could help me in my little plight. :)
2024.05.19 00:19 salanalani self-hosted WordPress not working only on iOS devices
I am self-hosting WordPress on Proxmox LXC via Tunrkey WordPress, and have NGINX reverse proxy with Let's Encrypt to point my domain (gg..net) towards my WordPress Proxmox LXC. The website is using the default theme and I have no other themes installed and zero plugins installed. The website is viewable from my PC, MAC, Android phone, but only iOS phone saying "Site can't be reached" with ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED (same error in iOS Safari or iOS Chrome). I am using my domain (https) to reach my WordPress from each of those devices.
My WordPress site health only has one issue reported "Page cache is not detected but the server response time is OK" which does not seem related.
I first thought it is something to do with my NGINX setup, but I have another host (configured inside the same NGINX) pointing to another LXC (inside the same Proxmox) that uses Asp.Net web server on Apache, and my iOS deceives able to view that Asp.Net website. So, it has to do with something in WordPress, I guess.
I have updated everything from Proxmox, NGINX, WordPress, etc... to latest versions but nothing helped.
Any ideas?
Edit: I have fixed the reported site health, and the tool is not showing any concerns anymore, but still iOS devices cannot view my website!
2024.05.19 00:02 Starskie94 Am I wrong?
I work in the IT Department for small business. We have 63 employees and over 240 devices on our network. Our environment includes multiple locations that are connected via radio antennas. My boss started this network years ago with a much smaller footprint using just switches and ethernet hubs, which he continues to use to expand the network as we grow. I've only been working here for 5 years but I've believe that our network would perform better if we introduced some strategically placed routers configured with routing protocols. Am I wrong?
2024.05.18 23:53 skaizm Help with access points.
I've had the privaye network at work for people to use on break (non business related) configured as follows.
ISP routemodem combo(on floor 1) -> router(configured as access point, on floor 4) -> router configured normally (floor 3)
And it has been working fine for a while.
Someone factory reset the router on 3.
Now if I configure it default router it gives Internet fine on 4, but the router connect to it on 3 won't work (because 4 isn't a ap, I think)
But if I configure it as a wap neither the Internet on four or three works.
Am I doing something wrong here?
2024.05.18 23:45 wolfguage High ping on GA servers since 8.0
Before 8.0 I used to get 4-10ms on GA server. Ever since, I have had 55+ms on my main server. Other servers have gotten worse ping wise too but none are that bad. Lucky N Virgina is decent at 30ms~.
I've flushed DNS(currently using Google), renewed my IP, run the riot repair, reinstalled, factory reset, configured my firewall to allow all the valorant apps, updated network adapters, power cycled ONT and router.
Currently, the only "solution" I have is to run a VPN while I'm running but I still don't get my past sub 10ms that I had. With the VPN on I get about 40ms instead which still sucks. Also the latency and jittering is still terrible while playing. Having to pay for a VPN every month doesn't seem like a good solution to me.
Does anyone have any ideas what else I can do to save my experience?
2024.05.18 23:26 clust10 Looking for ideas on network redesign
Hello,
I have acquired some new networking gear and am trying to think of ways to challenge myself by creating an environment that provides more “enterprise” infrastructure experience.
Currently, the edge device for my home network is pfsense, and the edge device for my lab environment is a virtualized sonicwall.
I configured these with transit networks to link up to two Cisco switches (SG350 and 3750G) acting as the gateways for home and lab networks, with static routing between all interfaces.
My lab consists of two esxi hosts virtualizing mostly windows infrastructure. I put the hosts themselves and vcenter on the home subnet to make it easier to do patching.
I have obtained a Fortigate 60F that I would like to incorporate into the mix, potentially removing pfsense to use it in place on the home side, to keep the sonicwall and fortigate in the mix but doing more with it than just a few static routes, maybe OSPF instead?. I need to brush up on my Fortigate/Cisco skills for a future project at work.
Appreciate anyone’s thoughts on a redesign of this network.
2024.05.18 23:13 thekingshorses How to setup PFSENSE HA with 2 WANs (One WAN - 3 static public IP address, 2nd WAN - Dynamic local IP)
We have one WAN with 3 static public IP addresses, and 2nd WAN with dynamic IPs. 2nd WAN provides local IP address.
WAN 1 Static
WAN2 DHCP
VLANs
Chromecasts defaults to WAN2, and all other VLANs default gateway is WAN1 and if WAN1 is down, it's WAN2.
Router Ports
I mostly care about if the master router is down, and slave takes over. If the internet stops working for a few minutes, not a big deal.
I have 2 pfsense routers. Sync is configured and syncing settings from master to slave. But only the master router is connected to the internal network (LAN side). I can access both of them through tailscale and public IP address.
2024.05.18 22:54 MountainBubba Shopping for a 10 Gbps edge router
In the process of upgrading my home/office LAN to Wi-Fi 7 and multi-gig Google Fiber, I've come to understand that the companies that are good at wireless aren't always good at general networking. I can't find a traditional integrated Wi-Fi routegateway that meets my networking needs. The Asus Wi-Fi 7 stuff is utter garbage, and both Netgear and TP-Link's consumer stuff hide all the wireless controls I like to fiddle with.
So the solution seems to be installing a semi-pro edge router device that's strictly wired and use it for the stuff that real routers do best and put all my Wi-Fi base stations in AP mode. They're probably going to be Omadas or Netgear pro stuff. I want my edge router to have at least two 10Gig/multi-gig ports so I can use it for a while. Google Fiber is being installed in my town at the moment and I'll probably jump on it.
There seem to be four or five edge routers worthy of consideration:
I'm leaning toward the RB5009 because it's a low-risk experiment.
Any thoughts, experiences to share? Are there any alternatives I should be looking at?
I've got a boat load of Netgear switches already that I don't want to replace just now and about 80 devices including a 10 Gbps Synology NAS, cameras, IoT crap, and a mixture of Windows and Apple stuff. I've got a rack in a wiring closet in the middle of the home.
I figure I'll end up with five APs, three indoor and two outdoor. I'll be covering a 3200 sq ft two level home as well as a greenhouse. The outdoor APs are old Omadas, really nice stuff in their day.
2024.05.18 22:49 Sufficient_Fig_3083 Mac authentication and dynamic vlan assignment
Dear PacketFence users,
I'm very new to the PacketFence environment, and before going further with my investigation, I would like to know if what I want to know is possible.
Basically, I have a Network on which MAC authentication is enabled on the switches . We would like to be able to managed the different MAC addresses and assign them dynamically to some VLANs. The VLAN assignment should be in the Radius reply to the switch according.
We looked into the packet fence guid and their config for the Cisco switch 2960 series didn’t work.
What would be the correct switch configuration on the the Cisco switch and on Debian sever to make it work.
Thank you
