2024.05.21 15:34 FabiusTheDelayer I'm not Jewish. But you know what the truth being hidden from us actually might be?

I'll divide this into parts so it's easy to read. Also, I don't think you should take my ramblings at face value. Hell there isn't a single human who knows the entire truth. It's impossible to pinpoint what went down on earth - perhaps only God knows that.
Tartaria:
It existed in central Asia, between Iran and India allegedly. Indian and Chinese texts confirm that BUT they don't speak of a thriving class A civilization. The Class A civilizations before the East India Company fuckery were India and China. Ever hear the term mogul being thrown in the English lexicon? India and China were brimming with gold, wealth and trade - like at least 70% of world GDP happened here. There is plenty of material in Delhi in the national archives - I have spent like 12 years there - the Indian government has done a really bad fucking job digitizing them - a lot of the shit is in Sanskrit, Urdu and Tamil. I'm Tamil by the way. The Bagwad Gita in Sanskrit says a lot more than the shit that British translators put out. You're not reading the same book - the same can be said about the Septuagint v Vulgate. I think the King James Bible did us dirty - I learnt Latin in catholic school in India and yeah, the KJV and Vulgate are like reading 2 different books.
The God of the Bible:
Does Jesus ever name Yahweh? He does not. He always mentions the father. I don't think who he calls Father is Yahweh or El or whatever. I have come to believe the God of Genesis is not the same God as the Old Testament progresses. It's a collection of books. As a Catholic, I have begun to completely ignore the OT. Everything you need - love, advice, acceptance and redemption comes out of the mouth of Jesus - and if you believe in the Trinity which I do, he is the manifestation of the father.
This is also a belief held by many catholic clergy but they fear heresy more than anything. Another reason why Jerome, Aquinas, Francis of Assissi pore over Jesus' words and only make slight references to Ezekiel or Elijah or Samuel.
Atlantis:
This one is huge. Atlantis has been made a joke. It's been laughed out of mainstream history as a myth while the fucking elites have always been on the hunt for Atlantean artifacts, the tuai stones, the Akashic records etc., and also Atlantean craft which helped them navigate the world - the Piri Reis map was most likely from the Akashic records or some Atlantean docs left behind which had exact maps of Antarctica and the Americas. It's believed that the Atlanteans left knowledge in various parts of the world - one rumored to be under the Sphinx, coz they knew the flood was coming and they wanted posterity to find and use their tech.
Hitler was obsessed with finding out about Atlantean artifacts. The psychic witches in the Thule, Vril and Ahnenerbe societies claimed to have established contact with ETs or past Atlanteans. All claims - this is another rabbit hole folks - if you go down this hole, it establishes that the Germans already broke away and are living outside the earth - aka they ARE inter-galactic. The Nacht Waffen (check youtube for this) or whatever is another rabbit hole that's seriously scary and is mentally exhausting.
The Elites and their worship of Baal/Moloch:
The OT formally forbids sacrifices to Baal and Moloch. Then why do you find references to Moloch in wikileaks where Hill wants to offer a chicken (code word for young minor male) to Moloch. Why the inverted cross? Why the black mass? Why the very mention of Jesus triggers them? Why are they into Baphomet, the goat headed demon in Charlie's new portrait?
The elites are not stupid. This is your biggest clue that there is some truth to Jesus, redemption, salvation and it's not total kookoo.
A priest once told me the elites (including the vatican) "KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD". Many have told me this and they won't go further. What I have pieced together is that God is a form of energy that is related to dark matter, dark energy - and that's why there is good and evil, like ying and yang. And that a figurehead like Jesus is the manifestation of God the good to take humanity to a higher level of consciousness. The elites have aligned themselves with the dark side, all their rituals are Luciferian and are an inversion of Good. Why? Are they not afraid of consequences? This is what I am still looking for. What deal have they made with the dark forces? There are Satanists inside the Vatican. They engage in the black mass and in the honor of Lucifer the light bringer.
I still don't have a solid answer on the draw to Satanism. Their rituals are detailed and ceremonial. Like the cremation of care in Bohemian grove.
The Annunakis:
The theory is that they came to earth to terraform the homo erectus who was the dominant creature living here. It's pretty much the plot of the movie Prometheus. I am studying this one, but there is a lot of BS on the internet regarding the annunakis. If you listen to Billy Carson, he will speak as though this is established fact when 99% of scholars dismiss the Annunakis and pretty much say the Sumerians, Assyrians, Babylonians are superstitious backward idiots (which I wonder why) yet their funders do all that one eye shit with the eye of Horace/Set whatever and they get together to worship Baal, Moloch, Baphomet.... all that supposed non-sense.

2024.05.21 05:54 skuxcavs THE 47 ENIGMA (INFO IVE GATHERED OVER THE YEARS) tried my best to keep it in good structure to make sense.

The Number 47, Synchronicity & the Law of Time Courtney Jamal Dewar, aka Capital STEEZ, came with perfect timing. Wielding a higher message, he revealed to all those around him through his music and his being the corruption of society and all of its constructs. He was fascinated, some would say, obsessed, with the number 47. For him this number held a higher meaning on many levels. First and foremost, he felt it was about synchronicity. He made all of his homies, including myself, aware of how this is the quintessential random number. We literally began to see it everywhere. You can research the numerological significance of 47. Here are just a few: 47 appears to be the quintessential random number of the universe. When a number appears randomly, more often than not, that number is 47. In other other words, if you asked people to pick a number at random, more often than not, that number would be 47. Of course, if 47 shows up more than any other number then it isn’t truly random, but using the word random makes the whole phenomenon easier to describe. From a spiritual perspective, number 47 is a combination of the energies and attributes of number 4 and number 7. The vibrations of number 4 include those of productivity and application, inner-wisdom and practical-thinking, honesty and integrity, endurance and determination, conscientiousness and discipline. Number 4 also relates to our passion and drive in life. Number 7 brings the qualities of spiritual awakening and enlightenment, intuition and inner-knowing, psychic abilities and mysticism, independence and individualism, persistence of purpose and manifesting good fortune.
There is even a much-viewed YouTube spoof of Jim Carrey’s The Number 23, substituting—you guessed it–the No. 47. Jim Carrey's character named Walter is given a book titled The Number 23. Walter starts reading the book and notices striking similarities between himself and the main character, a detective named "Fingerling". Fingerling is obsessed with the 23 enigma, the idea that all incidents and events are directly connected to the number 23 (Weirdly enough when I was younger I was in cod team called 23Enigma) only noted it as of the coincidence.
Jim Carrey told reporters he was so captivated by the 23 enigma even before reading the script that he renamed his production company from "Pit Bull Productions" to "JC23." (Jesus Christ 23?) Oddly enough the first film Carrey worked on with Joel Schumacher his character The Riddler's real name was 'E. Nigma'. According to Carrey, he was reading a book about Psalm 23 when he was first given a copy of the screenplay to review. He said he asked a friend to read the script and "an hour and a half later he was on page 23, circling every 23rd word. That's the kind of thing I want to do to an audience." When he discovered that the first page of the script involved the lead character trying to capture a pit bull, he was "freaked out," given the change in name of his production company. (Pitbull productions) My Nicknames Pitty, short for pitbul (These are just speculations) Also I've gathered others inputs and went down a deep rabbit hole. Mind you, this is just connections that has been gathered over time, but the consistency of certain "coincidences" are interesting to say the least. Just try to piece together the connections even though it may be out of radar due to us living completely different lives.
James > Cleveland Cavaliers (Cavs) > Number 23 > Nicknames are King James & The Chosen One
Cavs is the nickname of my last name Cavanagh
When you flip the cleveland cavaliers logo upside down it is quite similar
(The hat I've worn since 14, P represents the nickname"Pitty:" short for pitbill a nickname ive had since i was around 10 years old.
Matthew writes that on 23 occasions Jesus blessed 47 people.
The Bible credits Jesus with 47 miracles.

STEEZ has definitely made a positive impact on this world by introducing a new way of thinking and spirituality, even more of an impact than a lot of artists who are still alive... Capital STEEZ was 19 at the time of his death.
There is also gematria behind his death it has to do with numbers. I’ll explain what it is for those who aren’t aware of it. Gematria is the decoding of letters to numbers, it’s used to translate ancient Hebrew Scriptures. But it’s also the code for the entire world. The most basic way I can put it is that it’s as simple as ABC=123, they use these numbers thru media, and the thing that’s being shown on the media always correlates with Masonic numbers and words that correlate with whatever and whoever is being shown on the news or media and whatever event is taking place always correlates 100% of the time. In news, sports, music industry, Hollywood, politics, everything. In Numerology, which is different from gematria. After calculating his name I came across a lot of similarities when calculating mine in various forms.
While calculating his name i came across things relating to me like Like "Melbourne Victoria Australia, Royal Melbourne Hospital, june twenty fourth. From his name which connected to me personally as i was born in that hospital, thats the city i live and my birthday. The similarities left me wondering if it was actually real or not so I used multiple different calculators and paid for a membership on gematrinator to get maximum results and ended up noticing so much our mine and steezs calculations were similar answers in different form, and answers i got with his name ultimately connected to mine, vice versa. So i was intrigued and these are a list of numbers that matched up with our names. This is all speculation based on connections that seem to be very consistent peep this
Calculating these variations of our names such as Courtney Jamal Dewar / Courtney jamal Dewar Jr / Courtney Everald Jamal Dewar Jr / Capital STEEZ / Nathan Cavanagh / Nathan James Cavanagh / Nathan James Cavanagh Sciarra, calculations all listed together when I noted them all I didn't think to label to each name as I was so captivated by the coincidences I just kept going down the rabbit hole. I came across profound links to both our names that binds us both to the unique synchronicities that were to apparent to all be ruled as pure coincidence, such as his name calculating to my birthday, place of birth and city, and city i live to say the least.
These are calculations through gematria, some are our calculations mixed in this as I was just noting down every connection I noticed

STEEZ has definitely made a positive impact on this world by introducing a new way of thinking and spirituality, even more of an impact than a lot of artists who are still alive... Capital STEEZ was 19 at the time of his death.
There are four gospel accounts of Jesus' life and ministry. Each of these emphasizes a unique aspect of his sacrifice and ministry. Matthew's focus is on Christ being the son of David and a King.
Look into the etymology of your name. - What Does Nathan Mean? The name Nathan means “Gift of God” or “God has given.” In the Old Testament, Nathan was a prophet and one of King David's sons; he acted as a messenger to King David and is considered one of Jesus' ancestors. (David name of my biological grandfather) (James is my middle name) - James is a classic, traditional and Biblical name (Saint James, of course, was Jesus's brother and one of the 12 apostles) meaning "supplanter" or "replacer." It's derived from the Latin Jacomus which also means "may God protect.
Every letter to Capital STEEZs full name calculates to 147 when done in reverse on the gematria calculator and mine equals to exactly 470 when done in reverse.

On June 24th 2022: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are lining up in the pre-dawn sky, a planetary procession that could be seen above the eastern horizon And what’s even more remarkable about this month’s lineup is that the planets are arranged in their natural order from the sun. The best day to see the spectacle will likely be the morning of June 24 of 2022, weather permitting, as the planetary parade will be joined by the waning crescent moon. This is three days after the summer solstice (or winter in australia), which is June 21. What makes this so unique is the last time we had 5 planets aligned in this fashion, was in March of 1874.
All of the "classical" planets will be viewable in the early morning skies of June 24th 2022. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn will be visible, all apparent to the naked eye even under urban light pollution. On the 24th, our moon will be situated between Venus and Mars, so you could say the Earth-Luna system will complete the "perfect" alignment. Under the darkest skies, one will be able to see seven planets in one sweeping gaze. The same year December 24th the planets will align in their correct order outward from the sun for the second time this year, after a pre-dawn alignment in June which was on my birthday. STEEZ is said to have died on the 24th of December 👉 https://imgur.com/gallery/0RVIxxA
Alternatively, 25 December may have been selected owing to its proximity to the winter solstice because of its symbolic theological significance. After the solstice, the days begin to lengthen with longer hours of sunlight, which Christians see as representing the Light of Christ entering the world. This symbolism applies equally to the celebration of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist on 24 June, near the summer solstice, based on John's remark about Jesus "He must increase; I must decrease." John 3:30 NRSV.[59] Now check out the following texts from the bible, they speak of the solstice here. 👉 https://imgur.com/gallery/0RVIxxA and I thought I should add this as it seemed to be quite a coincidence of the date i posted this somg and the content of the posts she made. It aligned with those geomatria calculations I made and i wish I could document snd explain why certain ones just synchronzie but it'd be to hard to comphrened.
"AFTER THE SOLSTICE, THE DAYS BEGIN TO LENGTHEN WITH LONGER HOURS OF SUNLIGHT, WHICH CHRISTIANS SEE AS REPRESENTING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST ENTERING THE WORLD. THIS SYMBOLISM APPLIES EQUALLY TO THE CELEBRATION OF THE NATIVITY OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST ON 24 JUNE, NEAR THE SUMMER SOLSTICE, BASED ON JOHN'S REMARK ABOUT JESUS "HE MUST INCREASE; I MUST DECREASE." JOHN THE BAPTIST ANNOUNCES THE COMING OF THE LIGHT THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE, JOHN THE BAPTIST, ANNOUNCES THE COMING OF JESUS, THE COMING OF NEW TIMES, JOHN ANNOUNCES THAT GOD IS GRACIOUS TO HIS PEOPLE BY ANNOUNCING THE COMING OF THE SON OF GOD. BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, AND EVERY EYE WILL SEE HIM, EVEN THOSE WHO PIERCED HIM; AND ALL THE TRIBES OF THE LAND WILL MOURN OVER HIM.” –ZECHARIAH 12:10-14; DANIEL 7:13-14 SO IT IS TO BE. AMEN (AGREED, YESHUA HIMSELF IS THE AMEN 3:14). “I KEPT LOOKING IN THE NIGHT VISIONS, AND BEHOLD, WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN ONE LIKE A SON OF MAN WAS COMING."
John the Baptist day is 24th of June.
"The flower of life, represents global consciousness and like there's this thing on the consciousness grid, the last piece, it has to be the flower of life and it has to align with the sun and all that stuff and it will wake up global consciousness & as i further in my ascension I hope to build it one day" "Some people might think this type of thinking, first of all this type of thinking might jump over a lot of people's heads" "I think humans need to lighten up, maybe try lighten up" - STEEZ
Someone regarding STEEZ: "Did he think there were codes in the Bible or something? I’ve heard him say he knows the “code” does anyone know what the code is? He was a truly enlightened person I wish I could understand him better."
STEEZ supposedly said he had to die now in order to save the Earth in 2047, which is when the world is supposed to end. Before he killed himself his friends say he withdrew not only from them, but rap in general, saying he was going to become a superhero.
(My birthday)24th of June 1999 = 2+4+6+1+9+9+9 = 40 STEEZ birthday) 7th of July 1993 = 7+7+1,993 = 2007.) 40 + 2007 = 2047
Now read a conversation he had on Facebook prior to death https://www.kanyetothe.com/threads/rip-capital-steez.354864/page-42?post_id=16781894&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-167818 His song Dead Prez (credit to who found these calculations as this wasn't mine) If you wanna conspire a little, we technically have had 46 different president so far, tho truly only 45 different guys have been in office. This year, if we elect a new president they will be our 47th prezident. You could say that happens when the next president is elected, or when the second new president is elected because then there'd actually be 47 different people. On the contrary, you could predict that once 47 presidents have died, something very significant will happen because the song is about DEAD presidents. It'll happen in most of our lifetimes i wonder what will happen 2047?

FORTY, THE NUMBER: "Forty days was the period from the resurrection of Jesus to the ascension of Jesus some scholars note that 40 days in the Bible doesn't always mean 40 days literally, but may be a symbolic way of saying "a longer time. A master number and part of the “awakening code”. Also Jose Arguelles’s kin is 11 – he brought forth the Law of Time aka the World Thirteen Moon Cale In the Bible, next to the number seven, the number forty occurs most frequently.
Here's an article on Fader that's kind of aligns some things I've discovered.
https://www.thefader.com/2013/11/26/capital-steez-king-capital
Check out these images, not a lot of people would've seen these: h ttp://i.imgur.com/nPE90.png / http://i.imgur.com/sHtdM.png / http://i.imgur.com/ZcNu2.png - he thought he was the alchemist that had the key for world peahttp://i.imgur.com/ZcNu2.png Deshay posted this on Facebook after his immediate death: "Fxck.... The End THE WIDELY ACCEPTED STORY is that Courtney ‘Jamal’ Dewar committed suicide by jumping off the Cinematic Music Building in Manhattan on 23.12.12 – which equals 47, the rapper’s favourite number. None of the city’s newspapers reported his death. As a result of inconsistent stories and a lack of police intelligence, confusion surrounds the heart-breaking event for the Dewar family. In a 2013 interview with Fader, an anonymous member of Pro Era said, “STEEZ told some of the Pros that he was thinking of killing himself by jumping off the building where Cinematic had its offices.” Dirty Sanchez a close friend of the late rapper recalled, “Nothing was working. Nothing. It was like too late. He made up his mind already.”
Today I will be briefly explaining the practice of Gematria. Gematria comes from ancient Jewish mysticism. It is the practice of combining the letter with the number, with the word. It is said this is how God created the world.
How does it work? Gematria has 4 major ciphers. The first two are easy as ABC, literally. For example A=1 B=2 C=3. And so on. The code can also be read backward from Z to A. This is called reverse ordinal. There are two more ciphers that are equally important but a bit more nuanced so for the sake of clarity I’ll leave those explanations to the work of Zachary K Hubbard. But to put Gematria into usable terms I’m gonna explain a decode I did recently. If you want to decode a word or phrase without doing the math yourself, there is an extremely helpful calculator at gematrinator.com it will give you all four cipher values for your word or phrase in an instant, as well as compare it with corresponding ciphers. Without further ado let’s look at this example:
Here I will outline some interesting numbers that coincide with the rapper Capital STEEZ and the numbers surrounding the music industry as well as numbers that come up with race, and other things I found eye grabbing.
(Credit to another user on here) First off I’ll start with Capital STEEZ, The interesting number here is the full reduction number, 47. It’s eye grabbing for many reasons, but we’ll start with a little back ground. Before Capital STEEZ’s (aka Jamal Dewar) death (suicide) in 2012, STEEZ was apart of an up and coming rap group known as Progressive Era, or ProEra for short. A known staple among these young men were the belief in “47 chakras” and “indigo children”. The two are a topic on their own, but the interesting part is that such a powerful number in Jamal Dewar’s life also coincides with the Gematria of his rap name. But that’s not it! Let’s continue
Capital STEEZ English ordinal: 137
Full reduction: 47
Reverse ordinal: 187 ( see pushed off a roof)
Reverse full reduction :70
Now keep an eye on 70, as we shall see him more as well.
Next we will decode the gematria of the reported means of STEEZ’s death, suicide. This is where I admittedly started getting intrigued.
Gematria of Suicide:
English Ordinal: 70
Full reduction: 34
Reverse ordinal:119
Reverse full reduction: 47
Wow. The exact same values but flipped.
Just a mere coincidence I’m sure But let’s continue .
With these next two we will see two repeats of values, one new value, 88 and a previously used value, 34. As well as 65
Jamal Dewar
English ordinal: 88
Full reduction: 34
Reverse ordinal: 182
Reverse full reduction: 65 ————————— Phrase: pushed off the roof
English Ordinal: 187
Full reduction: 88
Reverse ordinal: 245
Reverse full reduction: 65
And the next term we will decode will be Jamal’s occupation of rapper. Here we will see a reverse of our main number in question, 47, which I’ve found to be reoccurring as well.
Rapper
English ordinal: 74
Full reduction: 38
Reverse ordinal: 88
Reverse full reduction: 34
I’m beginning to sense a bit of a pattern here... But let me move on Now it’s time to get a little spicy
Jamal Dewar commited suicide on the night of December 23, 2012, though his wiki has his death on the 24 I believe as it was around midnight. Many articles coming out about his death including one I read from thefader.com reported his death on the 23rd. I specifically remember this detail because I was a huge fan of his and Pro Era at the time and it was a huge loss to the community.
December is the 12th month
12
23
12
Care to guess what that equals?
Yep. 47
Here are some other related phrases put into the gematrinator calculator:
Brooklyn New York (where proera is from)
223 79 182 74
Suicide by fall 128 56 223 79
Are you seeing the synchronization of these seemingly unrelated words and phrases?.
The word murder and murdered both have synchronized gematria with Jamal. We also see another repeat with 38, also found in the full reduction of the word rapper.
Murder
English ordinal: 79
Full reduction: 34
Reverse ordinal: 83 (38 reverse)
Reverse full reduction: 38
Murdered ,interestingly enough, though only being two letters away from murder, is actually more closely related numerically to jamals name and the word rapper, But there are similarities abound. Murdered.
English ordinal: 88
Full reduction: 43 (34 reverse)
Reverse ordinal: 128
Reverse full reduction: 47
Wow. This one really stands out to me. Every single number code number is used in the over all code of Capital steez just in this one word.
We see the repeats of 88 and 47 as well as the reverse of 34 for the first time and a repeat in the numbers of 128, which we saw as 182 above.
This one is slightly unrelated so I left it sort of by itself but I still maintain it’s validity as it’s use in the music industry is still relevant. That is the word racist. Race is huge in the overall narrative that msm tries to portray.
Racist
English ordinal: 70
Full reduction:25
Reverse ordinal: 92
Reverse full reduction: 47
racist and suicide are perfect matches on the front end and back end. 70 and 47.
Here’s another nugget.
The phrase : jumped to his death
English ordinal: 178 (pushed off the roof 187)
Full reduction: 70 (pushed off the roof 88)
Reverse ordinal:254 (pushed off the roof 245)
Reverse full reduction :83 (pushed off the roof 65)
Leap also shares 34 and 84.
Suicided 74 38 142 52
Occult
English ordinal: 74
Full reduction: 20
Reverse ordinal:88
Reverse full reduction:34
3 more repeats
The year of his suicide was a leap year
Leap year
English ordinal:83 Full reduction: 38 Reverse ordinal:133 Full res verse reduction: 43
Target audience: 133 61 245 83 Suicidal: 78 33 138 57 Hidden mission: 142 70 209 74 Some of these numbers are conjecture but there’s a lot of links between the numbers. 47/74 being the one of the more prominent, as well as 83/38, 34/43, 70, 245/254, 88, 33, 29/92/209, 182/128 all of these numbers connect in one way or another. Now it wouldn’t mean much if we didn’t know more about the nature of these numbers and how and where they appear. But since these number keep popping up in accordance to things like CONTROL GRID or MYSTERY RELIGION or SUPREME MATHEMATICS it seems almost impossible for it to be mere coincidence. Anyways I urge you guys to think for yourself and put in some work and see if you can find any use of this practice. God bless
Ps:
STEEZ’s debut album ”amerikkkan korruption” Came out on 4-7-2012 another 47. Vibration equals 47
A theory out there is that the cabal needed him to die because STEEZ was really bringing influence to more and more young minds with knowledge and the way STEEZ attacked and exposed certain things is not a good thing for those in power, the label that Joey wanted to sign when they were pro era, was a Jewish man named Jonny Shipes. if you’ve extensively went down the “rabbit hole”, like extensively, and you’d say you’re pretty “woke” (I hate that word), then you may know that most labels especially Jewish owned labels are basically the portals into The Illuminati cult, the Jesuit organization that controls the entire world. Oh and remember the news outrage, and investigation because of the 47 “swa stikkas” all over NY, yea you think these Jonny Shipes fucked with that? Nah. But this is all speculation.
It wasn’t long after Capital STEEZ's unfathomable passing on 12/23/12 – 12+23+12 = 47), which was only days after December 21, 2012, the precise date calculated by the great Mayans to be the end of a Great Cycle, that I received knowledge & became aware of the Law of Time. This seemingly new cosmology felt ancient and I quickly realized it had EVERYTHING to do with Synchronicity! I even found the number 47 to be ever ubiquitous throughout this 13 Moon calendar system.
"The next chapter is unstoppable. And yet, the greatest revolutions sometimes originate from the confines of impossibility, do they not? Break the code. It could make a leap and make possible a decision that defines the order of things that are." " Reality is a mathematical model which gets solved over and over again by the observer your thoughts are computations. And they render this world for you to call your own. Not all processors are alike. Different brains produce different realities. The variations go from the subtle to the drastic. Your mind defines how much you can taste. How much you can feel. How much you can understand. Perception defines perspective. We designed you and made sure to engineer your senses so you could perceive just what we needed you to. Neither more nor less. There are parts of time we preferred you remained blind to. It was a necessity."
The Law of Time, I found to hold the most profound yet simple teaching; our Time is not Money, Time is Art. I was able to grasp a greater vision of how we as humans have created an artificial timing system where our time here equates to how much money we can accumulate, where we are constantly stressed by this false belief of our making, and where there is never enough time… This system of our making and continuous propagation has only served to separate us from our Selves, from each other, and ultimately, from nature. Hence, resulting in the chaos and disharmony prevalent in the world today.
What is the greatest common factor of 23 & 47? 1 is the greatest number that 23 & 47 is divided to. The Chosen One @mistapitty ㄣ

2024.05.21 05:43 FenderBenderDefender Crafts that involve a lot of gluing?

I'm graduating high school super soon and one of my final assignments involved me pasting papers I used throughout the year into a notebook (kind of like a scrapbook?) and I got super into the process. I already journal, so there's an obvious application of that focus, but I'd like to know if there's any particular kind of crafting that's very glue heavy that I can get into over the summer. Any glue is fine, I just particularly like gluing things together for some reason.
Google searches for glue activities sent me to their weird new AI feature (ew) and preschool activities for teachers :(

2024.05.20 22:15 benniepeaceandlove Tainted Cain Tips!

I finally filled my T Cain post-it and man this character is fucking miserable to play. i was struggling and wanted to share some tips i learned along the way to anyone else who might be struggling.
one of the first tips i read when i was starting is "never use coins or red hearts in the recipe since they have such a low rank", but I'd argue that the optimal way to play T Cain is by finding a reliable (and cheap) recipe and making like 12 of those. my go-to recipies are 2x coins, 2x hearts, 2x bombs, 2x keys. if its a decent item then score! i also like doing things like 4x coins, 4x bombs... or 3 hearts, 3 couins, 2 keys, etc. If you find a reliable cheap recipe, screenshot it or write it down. Remember that the order of the pickups doesnt matter, just the overall total. When fishing for a good easy recipe, avoid including things like Batteries or Runes in the recipe as it's less likely for you to find them reliably compared to key/coin/hp/bombs
though you should also try for a Q3/Q4 item to help aide the journey. this is where knowledge of the bag of crafting comes in play. you should keep a note of how much each pickup is worth (coin/hp is 1, bomb/key is 2, soul heart is 3) if you see a golden key, golden bomb, lucky penny on the ground scoop those up asap since theyre "worth" so much. (a golden bomb, golden key and 6 bombs/keys gives you a total of 26. This gives you a recipie ranging from Q2 to Q4. if you swap a bomb/key out and got one extra point and made that total 27, that recipe now ranges from Q3 to Q4. Much better odds to find a good foundation item.
(additionally, a Lucky Penny + Golden Bomb/Key + 6 bombs/keys is 27, since Golden Bomb/Key is worth 7 and Lucky Penny is worth 8!)
if youre on a losing streak and want to guarantee an "easier" start by holding R, this can still still be achieved with T Cain! Just hold R until you spawn next to a library! T cain spawns with a key and there will be 1 to 5 books in that library! easy pickups. if you get the library with like 4 books in it thats the equivalent of finding 4 treasure rooms on your floor.
make sure you leave pickups for yourself! bombs to get secret rooms and tinted rocks, keys for chests and rooms, money to buy items. dont use a nickel or dime in your recipies as thats a whole other item/source of pickups from the shop. i like to leave most of the shit on the floor and once the floor is cleared ill rummage thru the pickups. (unless you gotta rush to boss rush). I grab all the soul hearts for myself, so I don't need to waste too many recipes crafting Hp-ups and can instead make something more offensive.
make sure you grab every nickel and dime (unless you found an amazing nickel recipe i guess) and grab 2 bombs and 2-3 keys to ensure you have everything you need for the next floor
for the boss rush/hush/deli grind, you really just have to get lucky and throw random shit in the bag, if you dont get a good stackable recipe by the time you beat Floor 1 just restart bro
my delirium win happened because I found The Finger recipe early on (i believe it was the 2x 2x 2x 2x recipie i mentioned above), and holy shit does Finger stack! had about 15 of them, got extremely lucky with Gnawed Leaf, and thats GG! Melted Hush and Deli like butter.
my mother win happened because i found the recipe for slipped rib, made that 6 times, became invulnerable to projectiles (even from the fire-breathing gehenna guys!!!") and found the recipe for "???'s Only Friend" which stacks like crazy.
i had a really good run with Little Chubby who also stacks just like finger and ???'s only friend, where all the copies overlap and it looks like 1 even though its a whole stack of chubbys mashed together.
lastly, flight is super important. your bag swipe can reach over a tile gap so you can scoop shit up that you might not be able to reach, but you still might miss out on valuable pickups without flight. if you come across the bible recipe, its a worthwhile grab for the mom-instakills and for flight-on-demand. Additionally, if you craft 3 fly items you transform into Beezlebub granting you flight. These can be the same 3 fly items they dont need to be different. if you find a cheap recipe for Distant Admiration or Forever Alone or something similar, make 3 copies of them to give yourself flight!
Thats all I have, good luck soldier. This character fucking sucks man the most miserable experience I've had in this game yet. BUT there are the occasional fun runs. Just remember, a bunch of tier1-2 items could really outdamage a tier-4 item. get yourself 25 Sister Maggys.
TLDR: Find an easy recipe and abuse it. Prioritize Soul Hearts for health, not for recipes. Prioritize Golden objects/Lucky pennies for recipes. Restarting until you spawn next to a Library helps! Craft 3 fly-themed items to give yourself flight! Research the Bag of Crafting pickup qualities.

First off, if you have zero industry work, you almost definitely will not get a bartending position straight away. Your best bet is to apply somewhere as a server or barback first. Let them know in the interview that you very much would like to bartend, but are willing to work towards that goal. I can almost guarantee that you'll have to push for it after a few months, but if you're decent at your job, whether they advance you or not, at least you have a starting point for new interviews.
Second, no one cares if you make cocktails all the time at home. Drink making at home is fun and no stress. I love bartending, but there's a significant amount of stress. If you don't have experience in this environment, you won't get hired. Even if you know a bunch of recipes already. It's just not happening.
Third, although bartending classes are cool for personal use, they also won't help you get a bartending job. I'm not trying to come off like an asshole, but most seasoned bartenders laugh at it.
Fourth, do you need a license? It literally depends on your state. Most coastal states are a no. A lot of Bible belt states are a yes. That's for you to figure out.
Then the last bit of information I have for you, and this is more geared towards people who have experience but have been out of the game for a while. Networking is key. Go to a bar that fits the qualifications you had or is somewhere you'd like to work. Be a semi regular. Be super friendly, not needy, and don't just immediately ask. Wait till you're on good terms with staff and they know you by name. Then, casually, mention you're looking to return to bartending. Either they can help you there, or they might be able to pull strings with friends at other bars. Also, always remember to tip these guys fat. They're gonna try and get you hooked up somewhere.

2024.05.18 21:17 Flimsy-Two-4784 Should this be the new narrative of the church?

In the early 19th century, in the rural town of Palmyra, New York, a young man named Joseph Smith was born into a family of humble means. Joseph grew up in a community deeply influenced by religious revivalism, where fervent preaching and spiritual fervor were commonplace.

Childhood Dreams and Ambitions

As a boy, Joseph was known for his lively imagination and insatiable curiosity. He was drawn to the stories of ancient civilizations and prophets found in the Bible, and he spent many hours poring over its pages, captivated by tales of divine intervention and spiritual revelation.

Adolescence: Struggles and Ambitions

As Joseph entered adolescence, he grappled with the challenges of growing up in a family facing financial hardship. Despite his struggles, he possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for opportunity. He dabbled in various ventures, from treasure hunting to glass-looking, seeking to improve his family's fortunes.

The Entrepreneurial Spirit

As Joseph grew older, he developed a reputation as a skilled storyteller and a charismatic leader. He was known for his ability to spin elaborate stories and captivate his audience with tales of adventure and intrigue. Yet, beneath his charming exterior lay a shrewd businessman, always on the lookout for opportunities to turn a profit.

The Quest for Spiritual Truth

Joseph, became increasingly disillusioned with the religious practices of his time. He yearned for a deeper, more authentic connection with the divine—a connection that transcended the confines of traditional religion and dogma.

The Quest for Wealth and Fame

Driven by a desire for wealth and recognition, Joseph concocted a plan to create a spectacle that would capture the imagination of the masses. Drawing inspiration from the religious fervor of the time, he devised a scheme to fabricate a set of golden plates inscribed with ancient writings, which he may have believed was inspired and coming from a divine revelation from God in order to save his family's financial problems.

The Angel Moroni and the Manufactured Plates: A Bold Plan Unfolds

Several years later, in 1823, Joseph invented his extraordinary encounter—this time with an angel named Moroni or Nephi. According to his account, Moroni/Nephi revealed the location of a hidden treasure: a set of golden plates inscribed with ancient writings. Inspired by this divine revelation, Joseph embarked on a bold plan to manufacture the plates himself.

The First Vision: A Turning Point

In the spring of around 1834 or 1835, as a young man of his time, Joseph claimed to have experienced a profound vision that would alter the course of his life forever. While concerned for his own salvation, he retired to the "silent grove" near his home, he reported seeing a pillar of light descending from heaven, followed by the appearance of God. This transformative experience marked the beginning of Joseph's spiritual journey and his quest for religious truth.

The Creation of the Book

With the help of a few confidants and collaborators, Joseph set to work crafting the narrative of what would become known as the Book of Mormon. Drawing from his own experiences and the rich tapestry of religious beliefs swirling around him, he wove together a tale of ancient civilizations, divine intervention, and redemption.

The Translation Process: From Plates to Pages

Over the course of several years, Joseph devoted himself to the task of what would be considered the translation of the contents from golden plates. With the aid of divine inspiration and the assistance of scribes, he produced what would become known as the Book of Mormon—a narrative of ancient American civilizations and their interactions with God. Produced by the gift and power of God, which we can now speculate is the Imaginative mind of mankind.

The Book of Mormon: A Work of Creativity and Imagination

While Joseph claimed that the Book of Mormon was a translation of ancient records, it is suggested that it was product of his own creative imagination. Drawing from his deep knowledge of the Bible and the religious beliefs of his time, Joseph crafted a narrative that spoke to the spiritual yearnings and questions of his contemporaries.

The Use of Deception: A Means to an End

Critics have accused Joseph of using deception and fraud to promote his religious teachings. However, proponents argue that Joseph's use of deception was motivated by a desire to inspire faith and belief in his followers. Much like the magic feather in the story of Dumbo, Joseph may have seen deception as a necessary tool to capture the imagination of the masses and lead them to a deeper understanding of spiritual truth.

The Growth of a Movement: Trials and Triumphs

Despite facing persecution and opposition from mainstream society, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continued to grow and expand throughout the 19th century. Missionaries were sent out to preach the gospel, converts were baptized, and new congregations were established across the United States and beyond.

Legacy and Impact: A Story of Faith and Resilience

The story of Joseph Smith and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and human creativity. Whether viewed as a divine revelation or a product of Joseph's imagination, the Book of Mormon continues to inspire millions of believers around the world and remains a cornerstone of LDS theology and doctrine.
🪶 Just as Dumbo faced a crisis of faith when he lost his magic feather, many of us may encounter similar challenges in our spiritual journey. It's crucial to realize that the truth resides within ourselves all along, and the institutional church serves as a guide or facilitator to help us recognize our inner strength and connection to divinity from within.
In this analogy, the church transforms into a symbol of the collective wisdom and guidance passed down through generations, shaping society and our personal beliefs. Similarly, the magic feather, once believed to be a source of power and belief for Dumbo, evolves into a symbol of personal identity and significance. Instead of clinging to it for its perceived magical properties, Dumbo now holds onto it because of what it represents to him—a reminder of his own capabilities and the journey he has undertaken.
Just as Dumbo discovers his ability to fly without the aid of the magic feather, we too can find empowerment and enlightenment within ourselves, independent of external institutions or symbols. Our faith journey becomes a quest for self-discovery and personal growth, guided by the lessons and experiences provided by the church and our own inner wisdom.

I (50 M) just learned my spouse (47 F) was unfaithful years ago in marriage. She came clean from guilt. Where do I go from here?

This will be quite a lengthy read because I'm laying out everything to get honest opinions with all the context. There's a TLDR at the end for those who'd rather skip the backstory. I know that most people go incognito with a throwaway account for this kind of post. But I wanted this to be authentic, using my real account. I didn't want anyone to think this was disingenuous. If we know each other in real life or you find me on my other socials, let's keep our chats here or in PMs. I don't want anyone harassing anybody, and I have a sixteen-year-old daughter who has been spared this drama so far.
I tied the knot shortly after high school, and let's just say, if my marriage were a collegiate course, it would be "F*** Up - 101." It was a masterclass in what not to do, featuring every red flag in the book. I was fresh-faced and barely off on my life journey, thinking I'd hit the jackpot. I'd assumed I'd accomplished what my parents did, that being the poster couple for marital bliss. I was so naive, always giving the benefit of the doubt. Meanwhile, my then-wife, fresh from escaping her parental fortress of solitude, went bat s*** crazy, deciding that 'living life to the fullest' didn't include me in the picture.
Before I knew it, I was Mr. Mom with our toddler while she was trapped underneath a few individuals, making up for lost time. After finally catching her in the act, I filed for a divorce and braced for the impact. Divorcing in '97 in the heart of the bible belt was not favorable towards the husband back then. What followed was straight out of a horror movie. I paid my attorney five thousand dollars to watch her take everything from my guitars and video games. She even claimed keepsakes from a departed relative, and the judge seemed happy to grant her every wish. Not only did I bid farewell to everything I owned, but my time with my son got slashed to a mere Wednesday afternoon and alternating weekends.
My faith in women was broken. I went on a few dates here and there but mostly kept it to casual encounters and dinners. I never let anyone get too close. But, in early 1999, at a friend's birthday party, I met a woman whose marriage had crashed harder than mine. She'd had a stillbirth six months into her pregnancy, and her husband dared to bring his girlfriend to the funeral. She was heartbroken, to say the least, to learn about her husband's affair and the end of her marriage on the day they laid her daughter to rest. We sat on a couch that night, swapping tales of romantic ruin. She was clever, and to me, that is an instant connection. It's rare for me to find someone who makes me laugh instead of vice versa. As I headed home, I couldn't shake her from my thoughts, kicking myself for not asking for her number.
The next, my phone rang, and it was her! She'd gotten my phone number from someone we both knew and asked: "Would you like to get food sometime?" I said, "Now sounds great!" So, I drove to her grandmother's house, and off we went on what turned out to be what I still consider the perfect date. Now, I get it; we were both lonely and had our hearts broken, but trust me, this was no spark; it was an inferno. And believe it or not, we've been inseparable since that day. We have not spent a night apart. That was twenty-five years ago, with us marrying a year after our meeting. Go ahead and facepalm, I know how it sounds, but it's hard to put the connection between us into words. Even I'm still shaking my head in disbelief.
Our families adored the two of us together. I was certain I had found my soulmate, if you believe in that, and I was certain she felt the same. We enjoyed each other's company, and our lives meshed perfectly. As with life, however, it finds those moments of bliss to take a giant s*** on you. In 2006, I began feeling ill; eating resulted in violent illness, which I initially thought was a virus. But after a week with no improvement, it was clear this was something else. I was admitted to the local hospital and underwent numerous tests. When I was first admitted, I weighed 222 pounds at a height of 6'2". Within a year, I had dropped to 146 pounds, and my condition dumbfounded the doctors. My health was deteriorating rapidly. Throughout the ordeal, she never left my side, her hand in mine, begging me not to leave her.
In late 2007, a last-ditch effort sent me to the Cleveland Clinic, where a young doctor rushed me into surgery. When I awoke three hours later, she was there, hand in mine, with a smile. It was a success; I was cured. While I'll spare you the details, it involved my colon. Finally, I could eat and move without agony. My life resumed, and we were happy again. The following year, she received a lucrative job offer in her field, earning more than I did. That didn't bother me at all; she worked hard, and she'd earned it.
After her miscarriage, my wife was unable to conceive. We had been trying since 2000 and eventually came to terms with the fact that it might not happen. In 2010, we got a call from the state of Minnesota about a two-year-old girl who had been taken from her mother due to drug-related charges. They asked if we would consider adopting her because the mother had requested she be placed with family members before her parental rights were terminated. My wife and I drove for 30 hours to meet her, and after a few months, we adopted her and welcomed her into our home.
Our daughter faced social challenges and had endured abuse, leading the two of us to decide one of us needed to be at home with her. As mentioned, my wife earned significantly more, so it made sense for me to be the one to step into the role. I dedicated each day to supporting our daughter's mental health. While I played a part, I can't claim all the credit for this; her preschool, kindergarten, and therapist were instrumental in her learning to socialize and trust again. Eventually, I took up freelance journalism, so I was home when our little one finished her school day.
Our evenings were family time, and we took small trips on weekends. It was in 2017 that my wife returned from work one evening, deeply shaken by what she told me was a workplace argument. Despite my attempts to console her, she remained incorrigible. She was declaring her intent to find a new job. She'd never had any issues before, so I was stunned. For days, she was a mess and withdrawn. When I pressed for details, she'd say, "It would only upset you. Let me deal with it."
True to her word, she left for a new company within a week, accepting a 15 percent reduction in pay. I should have questioned it then, but she never gave me cause for concern. Once she began her new role, life returned to normal, and our family happily moved forward. In 2022, I published my first novel with an independent publisher, fulfilling a lifelong dream. I could sense the pride emanating from both my wife and daughter. I had achieved this milestone before my fiftieth birthday, and I couldn't wait to start on my second one.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, this is where my world breaks. In 2023, as I was finishing up my new novel, my twenty-seven-year-old son from my first marriage died suddenly of a heart attack. He had an underlying condition that none of us knew about. I want everyone to understand that when you say, "I couldn't imagine my child dying," you truly can't. There is no pain quite like it. My wife and daughter, who also felt his loss deeply, did their best to support me. But there is no way to deal with such a tragedy. In the months following his death, I immersed myself in my work, striving to complete my second book for him.
On the day I finished it in January, my father passed away after a long battle. Dad had been ill for a long time. You think you can prepare yourself for that, but that's a lie you tell yourself. The loss was hard, and my daughter was instrumental in getting me back on my feet. My second book was released in February, and I tried to smile as I had my release party. At the beginning of April, I started feeling better, writing outlines for my third novel and doing the same things I'd always done with my wife and daughter.
My wife and I have a Wednesday tradition where she picks a random recipe she finds online, and we cook it together. On April 3rd, while making crockpot chicken tacos, I thanked her for everything. She asked why, and I thanked her for everything she'd done to get me through the tough times. I shared a lot of pent-up emotions, telling her I couldn't have managed without her. She started crying, then weeping, and soon she was sobbing uncontrollably. I tried to comfort her with a hug, but she pushed me away. I apologized, not realizing my words would stir such a reaction.
Suddenly, she confesses her infidelity. I laughed, mistaking it for a joke. She grabs my shoulders and then details how, back in 2017, a 28-year-old at her former job started flirting with her, and she reciprocated. She believed it was innocent, yet it persisted. My wife has always feared growing old. Her birthdays were days she dreaded every year. She admitted that the attention from a younger man was exhilarating. She told me that turning 40 had sent her into a tailspin and that she couldn't talk to me about it because I would have just shrugged it off.
He invited her to leave work early and come to his place one day. She couldn't understand why she chose to; maybe it was the thrill. She said she didn't know, but she went and ended up sleeping with him. Afterward, she felt terrible, glaring at her keychain in his driveway because it had a photo of me holding our daughter. She drove home, and that's when she lied about having a workplace argument. She never wanted to return there. It's why she suddenly went somewhere else. She then told me she wanted to tell me but didn't have the fortitude to do it.
I remained silent, just wide-eyed and open-mouthed. She apologized, saying she couldn't live with it any longer. I just shook my head, unable to speak a single word. She offered to leave if that's what I wanted, to attend counseling, or even to beg for my forgiveness. Instead, I picked up my AirPods and phone and walked out. I wandered from six in the evening until almost eleven that night. When I returned, she was on the loveseat, asking if I was ready to talk. I shook my head again, went to my office, where I had a couch, and slept there.
The next day, after our daughter left for school, she asked if I had anything to say. I said yes. I questioned why she brought this up after the worst year of my life. Why couldn't she have kept it to herself until I could somewhat deal with something of this magnitude? She just looked away. I scoffed and told her to go to work and to try not to f*** anyone during her lunch break. That would have been April 4th; those were the last words I said to her until last night.
She had attempted to talk to me several times, but I would just walk past her into my office, trying to focus on my upcoming science fiction comedy book. Writing something funny is challenging when the thought of your spouse rolling around with another man stuck in her consumes your thoughts. A week ago, my daughter asked in the car if everything was okay, and I lied to her, which made me feel sick. Then, last night, my wife came to the office door and asked, "Are we getting a divorce?" I looked at her and replied, "Looks like it." She started crying and closed the door.
I haven't consulted an attorney, and the thought of divorce hadn't crossed my mind until she mentioned it. That's why I wrote this essay. Where do I go from here? How do I start to untangle this mess? I have no desire for therapy. I don't even want to step outside. I'm broken at this moment. The burden of everything has been overwhelming. There's been so much to bear this past year. What do you say to someone who has been by your side through it all, only to tear your heart apart?
Thank you for reading to the end. And for those who are part of the TLDR crowd, my wife decided to go home with a younger man, felt guilty about it, and quit her job. She waited eight years to tell me about it.

Jesus, man. I’m sorry for your loss(es). Timing of your wife’s confession is mind-boggling. Realistically, this is above Reddit’s pay grade. I’ll recommend therapy, but probably above a therapist’s pay grade too. I know you also state you don’t want therapy, but that sounds like the exact time you need it. They can offer grief support, which is what you’ll need as you tease out emotions from losing loved ones and a very nasty betrayal. I hope you find happiness in whatever you decide.
OOP: I contemplated several different subs and I have no idea why I chose this one. I should have clarified above that after my son died, local hospice house around here has grief counseling, which I used extensively. I don't want to do couple's counseling is what I should have said. My apologies. I posted this to try and get outside perspectives from people, and maybe give me a different angle to look at this.

cakivalue
Not couples counseling but individual therapy for you. You need the support right now after all you've been through and an unbiased third party to support you through the pain and demise of your marriage, next steps and co-parenting.
My unprofessional angle here is that this is most likely over. Had she come clean in 2017 you would have been able to make a choice regarding forgiveness, couples therapy etc. she held on to this secret for seven years and then dumped it on you at the worst time in order to ease her own guilty feelings. Especially knowing that you had both been hurt in this exact way in the past is especially jaw dropping that she did all of this.

Magnum_tv
Fuck man! This is...just fuck...
Firstly, I'm so sorry for your losses. I extend my sincere condolences.
You need grief counseling. This would help you put things in perspective. At least you'll be able to eventually make decisions based on logic than just pure emotion.
Secondly, your spouse. She not only betrayed you, she lied to you for eight years. EIGHT YEARS! That's fucking scary, because now you're gonna be wondering what else she can be hiding.
Now I'm an asshole, I'd be out of that marriage tomorrow. You however, have truly built a life with her. If, and I mean a big fucking IF, she's regretful, you should divorce, it would be less stress in your life having to be her warden. Because the trust is gone.
If, she's remorseful, you could try to work it out. But she needs to put in the work. Not you, HER. Because she's the one who fucked up.
Remember, regret and remorse are two completely different things.
I'd recommend you still talk to a lawyer before making a final decision. The more informed you are, the better choice you'll be able to make.
I'm truly sorry you're dealing with this, best of luck brother.
OOP: Thank you so much. This is another thing in the back of my mind what else has she been dishonest about?

Update - 3 days later

UPDATE - After spending Saturday morning formulating and reading the staggering number of comments, I've made my decision. Some said my issue was far beyond the Reddit pay grade – they were mistaken. I deliberately avoided turning to family and friends, seeking a view from an outside perspective, and I think it worked. My gratitude goes out to all who sent private messages and responded; your thoughts on the matter helped me come to my conclusion.
On Saturday evening, I approached my wife to apologize for the silent treatment, I told her I wasn't attempting to punish her and acknowledged that it was childish. I told her if I would have opened my mouth, I would have been overly harsh and ruined any opportunity of a civil conversation. I promised we'd discuss it the next day.
On Sunday evening, I let it all out; I didn't cry, or raise my voice. I asked the man's name, which she provided. I asked her if the man was married when she betrayed us, and she confirmed he was. That hit me hard, because she knew he was also with someone. I asked if he was still married. She told me she had no clue, she hadn't seen him since the day she left for her new job. I told her I hoped they were, because I was going to make sure she knew. If my life had to be ripped apart, so would his. I thought that would get a rise out of her, it didn't. She just nodded.
I expressed my doubts about the affair being an isolated event, echoing the comments of several others. She maintained it was a one-off and was the sole reason she left her job. I explained that after eight years of this lie, it's natural for me to question anything she said. I then made it clear that if there's more to the story than what she's admitted, now is the time to be as open and honest as possible.
Any further revelations would be a deal-breaker for me, and there would be no excuse that could rectify it. She pleaded it was a singular occurrence and that she's been wanting to confess since it happened. I asked if he had reached out after her departure, she denied any contact. I responded that it didn't surprise me, assuming he got what he wanted and moved on to another person at work. It was the only cheap shot I threw.
I requested that she leave the house for a few weeks, I wasn't telling her it was over, but I wanted to be away from her. I suggested she could stay with her sister, her mother, or even rent a place—anywhere but here. I also informed her of my intention to discuss the situation with our daughter, who is 16 by the way, some people have commented believing her to be quite younger. To my surprise, my wife revealed she had already told her about a week ago, which I was completely unaware of. She inquired about the tone of the house, and my anger, and my wife confessed to her. Before my daughter went to bed, I asked her, and indeed, my wife had admitted that she had been unfaithful. I wanted to know why she hadn't come to me about it, and she told me she didn't want to make me feel worse.
I've decided to keep her home from school tomorrow to have a heart-to-heart about everything. It's important for me to understand her feelings and to emphasize that harboring hatred towards her mother isn't the goal. Her mother has always been loving and supportive. It's natural for her to feel angry, and that's okay, but picking sides isn't beneficial – nobody wins in this situation. It's a tough reality I'm coming to terms with, everyone loses. Tomorrow, I plan to contact three local therapists and reach out to the grief counselor I met after my son's death. I'm not interested in couple's therapy; I believe individual therapy is what I need, and since it's highly recommended, I'm going to pursue it.
My daughter's school year is ending soon, and I'm looking forward to spending quality time with her. I prefer to keep our plans private from family and friends; it's our personal matter. Someone advised me about controlling the narrative, but the only thing that matters now is that my daughter knows the truth. I need some time to come to terms if this relationship is salvageable. I need this time for self-reflection and to assess the situation. When she asked if we were going the route of legal separation, I clarified that it wasn't the case. I told her that when I look at her it brings up feelings of anger, which isn't healthy.
To my astonishment, she consented to everything. She doesn't want our relationship to end, and I reminded her that her actions with him forfeited that choice to me. She mentioned my wedding ring as a sign that she still matters to me, and I assured her that she does. I proposed we conclude things there. As I walked by, I touched her shoulder; she nodded in agreement. Later, she phoned her sister and made plans to stay with her the following evening after work.
TLDR. I want to express my gratitude to everyone for their support and guidance, except to the asshole that just wanted to pick a fight. I apologize for the length of my initial post; I believed the full context was necessary to help you understand why I'm so conflicted. To those who reached out privately and know my identity, your discretion is deeply appreciated. I'm looking forward to spending the next month with my daughter and starting therapy. Your messages are welcome, and I'll do my best to respond to each one. I'll provide another update in the future when I've made a decision about our next steps or if it's time to move on. I am not rushing into this decision lightly.

Clearly you have given this a lot of thought, and come up with a way forward that is best for you. Good luck in therapy, get yourself mentally right, there is no rush to make a final decision on your marriage. Take good care of your daughter! She seems like an amazing kid. Hang in there.

2024.05.18 01:47 brungoo Re-upload: Spiritual Psychosis vs Spiritual Awakening (Long Post, tl;dr included in post)

Spiritual Psychosis vs Spiritual Awakening (Long Post, tl;dr included in post)

First and foremost:

Speak to a professional if you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm or harm to others. Speak to someone who will help you stay grounded in reality or try the grounding techniques I will mention below.

I've seen quite a few posts here that sound a little like some people might be experiencing spiritual psychosis (I am NOT trying to diagnose anyone, I'm just noticing a few symptoms).
When I first heard about spiritual psychosis, it made me take a step back and think about my own spiritual journey.
A little about me:
I went through several life events this past year that were absolutely bonkers. If I wrote everything here, I doubt that anyone would believe me.
The final event, having to break up with someone I loved deeply, coincided with my spiritual awakening as I experienced what I feel is a closer connection with God.
As I navigated my beliefs, I felt as if I was seeing the world, my faith, and love from a completely different perspective.
A rebirth, I guess?
I wanted to include this little bit of context because my beliefs were years in the making, and still are. It is imperative that you try to dive deeper in why you believe the things that you do, which will help strengthen your faith and mind as well as get to know who you really are.
Beliefs are intrinsic, you feel it deep in your heart, but social factors also come into play. That doesn't mean your beliefs can never change, they will evolve, especially if you're presented with information that changes your perspective.
Just like with everything, you have to put in the work. That doesn't mean you have to become a theologian, just take time to dig deeper.

So, what is spiritual psychosis and how is it different from a spiritual awakening?

The difference between spiritual psychosis and experiencing a spiritual awakening is that one is coming from a positive place while still keeping you grounded in reality while the other is coming from fear and is not grounded in reality.
Spiritual psychosis (also known as mystical psychosis) is characterized by these symptoms (along with many others):
If you are always fearful or in a constant state of anxiety, you may be experiencing spiritual psychosis. Religion, beliefs, spirituality, whatever you may call it, is something that will bring peace to you and the people around you.
You should be looking to gain more wisdom and looking to become more compassionate as you grow spiritually. This includes being more in tune with your emotions and your human nature.
Your beliefs should not consume you and lead you to isolation and abandoning the people around you, including yourself. Especially yourself.

Spiritual psychosis can also be drug-induced.

Recreational marijuana and alcohol intake are two things very popular and very common things, especially with young people, that can cause psychosis in general if used in excess.
This is very dependent on genetics as well however, over-use and abuse can place you at a higher risk of psychosis. (Also search up derealization due to excess marijuana intake.)
Marijuana specifically is not inherently bad, but it should be used with EXTREME caution and only around people you trust. Ask a doctor before you try it, especially if you are genetically predisposed to mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.
I have used it for my anxiety and depression and it has been helpful for my journey, but everyone is different. I know everyone is very blasé about it, but it is still a MIND ALTERING SUBSTANCE and should be treated with the same caution as any other drug (even though it is not as dangerous as hard drugs like heroin and cocaine).

How can I avoid or manage spiritual psychosis?

Conclusion

In the end, this--our society and all its rules-- is all temporary and constructed by us as a way to give order to the chaos that is being alive.
We are struggling, especially during a time like this. If you’re struggling or experiencing psychosis, and your situation is horrible right now, please do not give up.
Change is coming, but it has to start from within.
And that can be as simple as a new perspective on life; a new perspective on the world as a collective.
So many of us are experiencing something spiritual which means that we are constantly looking for connection and meaning.
The inevitability of death should be the reason why we all help each other make this world a better place, no matter what your beliefs are.
A simple yet complicated concept to implement, but I have hope in humanity.
tl;dr
First and foremost: speak to someone, speak to a professional, speak to someone you trust to have your best interests at heart.
The difference between spiritual psychosis and experiencing a spiritual awakening is that one is coming from a positive place while still keeping you grounded in reality while the other is coming from fear and is not grounded in reality.
Find resources that will help guide you and ground you to reality. Find people who went though or are going through the same things. YouTube, Google, etc. always check your sources to make sure they're credible, be discerning.
Everyone's situation is different and people are going through a lot, including you, so try to find peace where you can.

2024.05.18 00:26 Star17Stuff Star’s Story

I’m on mobile so I’m sorry for any formatting issues. Trigger warning for upsetting content. I hope this finds its way to the right people someday..
I’m Star, and this is my story
The night I finally decided to tell my story I found true liberation. I had to come to terms that I had 3 out comes I had to be ok with. So following what advice I’d give someone else is either going to be the best thing, worst thing, or most insignificant thing I ever decide to do. I can’t use my past as a crutch or excuse to why I’m not living the life I dreamed of.
I guess I’m in for the worlds biggest reality check.
I had a typical life up until pre k. My family packed up our little trailer in Vacherie, Louisiana and nothing has been the same since. I went from growing up close with both sides of my parents family to almost complete isolation.
My dad was in search to lead his family and give us the best life he could possibly provide. With that honest sentiment he found a group of people that became our new family - and for the majority of my life our only family. Family birthdays slowly turned into fellowships. Summer vacation became going to church in different parts of California. Every Thanksgiving was in the sister church in Texas. The majority of our travel time was going to church to which we already went to 3 times a week. We didn’t celebrate any holidays, I couldn’t participate in team sports at school, go to dances, prom, sleepovers with school friends, wear certain clothing, watch certain movies and tv shows, you know, the typical religious restrictions people may encounter. However, this went deeper.
I grew up in a religious cult. Now that I’m way on the other side of that life, I can finally admit it and not feel guilty. I befriended many people I still have fond memories of. I stayed in contact with a few others that have left. There were good people there and some probably still are. These are people I shared decades of my life with. I used to feel some need to protect them from my truth and what I really thought and felt sitting in those pews. I still have my struggles with this.
I remember many significant events. The founder of the church getting shot was the biggest. We all gathered at the church and got on our knees and prayed. Everyone. It didn’t matter your age. I was primary school aged getting on my knees and calling to Jesus. I mimicked what I saw. This ritual only happened when a major event threatened the church or if someone high up in status was on the brink of death or needed extra prayer. I can only recall 3 times I experienced this first hand. Another memorable event was when the leaders went on CBS to defend the churches from allegations of ‘selling tickets to heaven.’ After all, my entire life we were taught that they were the one and only true followers of Christ and the only people making it to what was called a third heaven.
I submitted as much as a child could to what I learned in the church until puberty. As a preachers daughter, I was always expected to act and carry myself in a certain way. I didn’t feel that lifestyle was how I wanted to spend my one chance at life. School was my salvation from home and church. It was the only time I could be me although I was always a diluted version. I made friends, but of course I could never cultivate those friendships outside of school. There was only so many ‘no’s’ to attending sleepovers, parties and doing activities with the friends I chose for myself that a child could take. I started to secretly reject what had become a huge chunk of my life.
There were so many unspoken rules you knew to follow. No piercings, no tattoos, no loud colored haifingernails, no consumption of alcohol, you couldn’t consume worldly music or media, if you saw someone that left it was an unspoken rule not to engage with them and rampent homophobia; which I discovered was typical with similar religious practices and/or followed the King James Version of the bible.
But wait, there’s more!
You couldn’t show your shoulders, wear heels over a certain height, skirts and dresses had to be a certain length. I wore shorts in secret or only at my home. You could only marry and date within the church. If you found someone not in the church you like, you had to bring them in or the relationship would be frowned upon. You had to get married there, do your marriage counseling with the ministry, your dress had to cover your shoulders, your bridal party was your selection out of the sisters and brothers and your reception was in the dining hall at the church. Women couldn’t sit on the first pew at church or wear pants. At the time Facebook was the only allowed social media but your posts were watched. I found myself ‘in the office’ many times towards the end of my time there because of social media. If you wanted to make big purchases you had to have an audience with the ministry first. It was a tight knit community. It was a self sufficient community. It was a community that other people have told their stories about and we were told they were just people taking revenge on the church. The family had to stick together and draw others into the church to save more people so they had a chance for eternal life. There were accusations that many women were forced to get abortions to remain part of the ‘body of Christ’ they told us these allegations were lies. When you’ve been taught and controlled your whole life to eat whatever they feed you, you are obeditent and don’t ask questions. Plus why would my story change anything? Others before me spoke out. Some were silenced, some stories were buried and with that I just kept quiet. I have so many accounts about this church that I need to let go of. A religious relationship with life may work for some and that should be respected; personally it didn’t resonate with the person I want to be. I don’t want to sensationalize this piece of my life it is what it is; it was what it was. I don’t want to leave a door open for my past to feel welcome to my present. To this day I still have nightmares about my family and I being stuck there or going back voluntarily.
I wasn’t allowed to just leave the church and stop coming. How would that look if a preacher couldn’t control his own daugther? The mixture of teenage angst, middle child syndrome, and bipolar depression came together to create the perfect storm -but- in this storm Star was born. The only control I had over my life was through writing. As a teen I rarely left my room. It was me, my guitar, books, music and the magic of movies that kept me as sane as someone in my situation could be. Star became her own entity. She was my salvation in separating my reailty to a dream world so Theresa could survive. Every now and then she had to take over. If I couldn’t leave, I had to find a way out by more drastic measures. It started with pretending to be sick every now and then or purposely waiting to do my homework during church services so I could sit in a back room instead of pretending to take notes and be engaged in the services. This wasn’t enough for me long term so I had to up the ante. I fell into a cycle of self harm. I remember one damn near successful suicide attempt. When I was in the hospital only the ministry was allowed to see me. They told me when I got out the hospital, they would call me into the office to talk about why I did what I did. I never felt such dread and I wished I was dead in that moment. I saw the way it broke my mothers heart to see me in that position. I never attempted suicide again no matter how much I felt I wanted to escape my life. I spent about 2 weeks in a behavioral facility and to be honest, I never felt more free at the time. Unfortunately, back to church I still had to go. I came up with a plan that would change my trajectory permanently. I had to get myself kicked out of the church.
In the world of alternative modeling I found a community that became my new universe and my ticket to freedom. It’s because of this community I can even tell my story. I began posting risqué photos and I went all in with nude modeling. When this was discovered, I got called into the office one last time. I remember being asked if that the type of content I made me feel good about myself and that question made to feel so small. It felt like my own David and Goliath story when I spoke up and said, “yes, it does.” I believe this was the first time I ever didn’t let my fear decide my fate. I wanted to do what I wanted, how I wanted and when I want to do it. I didn’t want to care what anyone thought of me. I didn’t want to follow a lifestyle that sucked the life out of me. It’s this mindset that took years to come to its peak to practice what I preach. Little me always wanted to sing and put on a show. She wanted to make music. She wanted to create movies. She wanted to make people laugh and smile. She wanted to voice characters on her favorite tv shows. She wanted to explore and experience everything life had to offer even if she was always taught the world has nothing and it would just eat you up and spit you out. But I would choose to be digested by the world over and over again before I waste my time bound to the expectations of others. If I knew then what I know now, I would tell myself go be that theater kid, go audition for movies follow your true passions instead of making choices out of necessity to have a typical life. I often wonder who I would’ve been if I lived a different life. A normal life.
Now here I am ready to, for once, truly try doing what my inner child always dreamed of. I have so many songs that need to find a home and I’m doing that by following the only formula I know- bearing my soul and putting myself out there. I’m currently working on updating old lyrics and creating new songs so I can contact people to collaborate with. I’ve never been one for reality, so of course I have to do this my way. It’s time to stop telling myself that it’s too late and coming up with excuses to avoid the inevitably of failure. I was stuck in the societal mindset that you had to achieve everything in your 20s. There’s already failure in not trying. Of course I have no clue where or how to start with my limited experience and resources. I was gonna be that crazy person to walk in any and every record company and have them read my songs. Of course the industry doesn’t work that way, and why would it for me? I’m nothing special. Every artist feels their work will touch someone out there. Maybe nothing will come from this, maybe I’ll get to work with local artists or maybe my works will just find success in being posted here for few to read.
Since writing my initial story, I have yet again evolved. If I was going to go down this road I had to do things the right way and build a strong foundation from scratch. While learning how to navigate the unknown I found someone who elevated my mindset. The world connected me with vocal coach, Jeanetta, who turned my world upside down in the best way. I went from discovering I’ve been singing wrong my whole life to being able to write essays on how much I learned about proper singing techniques and from only wanting to write for others to constructing my own projects and concepts. She’s been my mentor in helping me unlock parts of me that I didn’t know were there and parts of me I’ve forgotten existed. I’ve been down a rabbit hole of crafting my sound and uncovering my voice. I could go off on a tangent about the excitement this journey has brought to me. I’ve made a few demos and dived in head first networking with whoever wants to share their knowledge with me. I had to realize nothing about my path is “normal” and I need to stop dimming myself to blend in common spaces. I’m never going to know normalcy. I can only find people who share a similar vision and will accept me as I am. I’m just going to keep going until I find them or they find me. Either way- I’m going to find out if it’s possible to fly with clipped wings.

Chapter Eight:
(Dawn)
Our boots crunched over dirt and twigs as Frankie Dee and I made our way to the northeast side of Mackworth Island. Seagulls screamed above us in the last couple hours of daylight, and crows darted between trees below the aggressive sea birds.
I didn’t have much trouble feeding crows over in Brighton Corner a little farther from the shore. But trying to feed them on the peninsula was much more difficult. If seagulls saw even a tiny piece of food, and you weren’t actively giving it to them, they’d swoop in and take it.
And I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a seagull in person, but they’re fucking huge. They won’t just take your lunch. They’ll take your lunch money AND give you a swirlie if it's high tide.
Frankie said nothing as she hopped over a log. And I felt at peace with her beside me, almost like we were two little girls wandering through the woods looking for a spot to build a fort before our parents called us home for dinner.
At least Frankie can go home and have a nice dinner with her parents, I thought. All my father wanted to do was berate me for ‘poor life choices.’
But fuck him. I’d gone no contact when I moved to Maine, and while I was a little lonely during the first couple of years here, my life had been immensely better.
The newspaper editor had her blonde hair pulled back in a tight braid that the ocean breeze had no trouble moving when it wanted.
“Okay, so remind me what we’re doing out here again?” Frankie Dee asked, not with a tone of boredom or skepticism, just plain curiosity.
“Well, for starters, I fought to pull you out of the newsroom at 6 p.m. because normal people don’t work 12-14 hour shifts every single day.”
She rolled her eyes, but the newspaper editor actually took a sick day after pulling an all-nighter covering the ferry fire with her staff. The poor girl could barely move as I drove her home the next morning at 4 a.m.
Thankfully, because of highly-trained professionals, the ferry had been evacuated and towed to a private dock for repairs.
Only one person was hospitalized, and it was for smoke inhalation, according to Craig’s front-page article, which I read the next morning while baking muffins, muffins I took to a certain bedridden newspaper editor who was still doing some work on a laptop before sleep took her like a villain in a Liam Neeson flick.
“Hey, I typically only work a few hours on Sunday,” she said.
“Six hours is not a ‘few,’ Frankie Dee,” I said as another gull flew over.
She shook her head and turned away to hide a smile. But I saw it because I’m nothing if not an observant. . . colleague.
“Let me try again. Why did you ask me to meet you here on Mackworth Island?” she asked.
“Why, to honor our bargain, of course,” I said with a wide grin. Unlike Frankie, I didn’t bother to hide my smile. I wanted her to know I was a mischievous little witch.
My companion paused to lean against a tree that was starting to show signs of growing back its leaves for spring.
“Remind me about the supposed bargain we made again?” she asked with a small smirk.
“You teach me about journalism, and I teach you about witchcraft,” I said, continuing down the trail.
The smell of low tide overtook the island as scents of saltwater and seaweed filled the air. Some folks couldn’t stand it, but it always felt raw to me, an immutable aspect of nature that mankind couldn’t ignore or send away. It was the ocean saying, “I’ve been here for billions of years. This is what I smell like sometimes. And if you don’t like it, you can move to fucking Iowa.”
A fate worse than death, I thought, remembering the endless cornfields stretched out across the horizon. And if it wasn’t corn, it was soybeans. On and on the sea of brown and green went, this ocean carrying scents of chicken houses and granaries.
We passed a bush trying to reclaim its clothes for the warming season before walking down a set of old concrete stairs onto a narrow beach.
“Your first column on how celestial bodies have impacted human nature for millennia was wicked cool,” Frankie said. “I didn’t expect so much history as you moved through how people have relied on stars for everything from chronology to navigation across the ages.”
“Thank you,” I said, clearing my throat to stifle a tiny sob.
Not only did she read my first column, I thought. But she analyzed and thought on it.
Her compliment wasn’t empty or meant to merely serve as a passing kindness. My coworker had actually found interest in my craft, and that stirred something in me. Something that wanted. . . more. Of course, I’d spent the last week knowing Frankie and wanting more from her physically. But now? I wanted her attention and affection. I wanted her thoughts. I wanted her to know me the way nobody else did, the way nobody else cared to. Professional boundaries be damned. . . if she wanted.
“And what aspect of witchcraft are you going to teach me about today?” she asked as we passed a sign.
I merely held my arms wide pointing to several handmade structures of sticks and stone overlooking the beach before saying, “Faeries.”
Her eyes widened, and she stood frozen, processing my word choice while I read a small white and green sign posted nearby that said, “Welcome to Mackworth Island Community Village.”
It continued, “You may build houses small and hidden for the faeries, but please do not use living or artificial materials. The best materials are found in the landscape of the village itself, but if you choose to bring in natural materials, please return with those that you didn’t use. Thank you for treating this island with care and respect. This helps keep the faeries coming back.”
Frankie opened her mouth twice and closed it, trying to decide what she’d say.
Finally, she just settled on, “Faeries?”
I liked that. She wasn’t trying to offend. The newspaper editor simply wanted to understand. Because what else can you do when someone says they want to teach you about fae? Images of Tinkerbell or A Midsummer Night's Dream came to mind, little pixies or people being turned into animals.
This was the difference between someone saying they wanted to teach you about gravity and someone saying they wanted to teach you about unicorns. One of those subjects was taught by people like Bill Nye and Carl Sagan. The other was taught by a spectrum that ranged from Hasbro to Peter S. Beagle.
To her credit, Frankie Dee seemed to recover and crossed her arms.
“Okay, where do we start?” she asked.
That warmth flickered in my chest again. She wasn’t cracking jokes or laughing at my expense. The girl I was down bad for legit seemed ready to learn. . . about fae of all things. So, I took a deep breath and asked, “What do you know about Mackworth Island?”
Without much hesitation, Frankie replied, “It’s home to a school for the deaf, and the whole place is a state park.”
I walked over to what looked like a poor attempt at a log cabin made of twigs and small branches. Some seashells and leaves made up the roof. In all, the little structure was about the size of a basketball. I motioned for Frankie to come closer.
“Mackworth Island is also home to a rich tradition of making faerie houses, natural homes for tiny elves who sometimes visit our world.”
Frankie looked inside and didn’t seem surprised to find the faerie house empty.
“Are you going to get mad at me if I ask what I’m supposed to be looking for?” she asked.
I shook my head.
“What I’d tell you is that you aren’t supposed to be looking for anything. Because the Fair Folk don’t like to be seen. They might steal a sock from your hanging laundry. They could bless your bread to never grow stale. They may even place a shiny trinket in a faerie circle in hopes of ensnaring any human dumb enough to pick it up. But you’ll probably never see them,” I said.
Frankie looked inside the little house again and nodded. Then she straightened her back and stretched, looking out at the water.
An American Airlines jet flew over Casco Bay, making an approach toward the Fore River and presumably the Portland Jetport. I watched the newspaper editor nod slowly and wet her lips. Behind her, a sailboat drifted toward Great Diamond Island.
May had officially begun, and some days were growing warmer, while the nights quickly reclaimed their chill after the sun went down. Today, the golden ball in the sky was clear and bright with temperatures that would’ve been warm enough to carry the promise of spring. That is. . . if it weren’t for that brisk northern wind saying, “Hold your horses. Winter takes her time to cede Maine to summer.”
Frankie Dee cracked her knuckles and asked, “So what’s the deeper lesson here?”
I cleared my throat and moistened my lips.
“That I’m a cute and fun person to spend the evening with,” I said, running my hands down my hips.
My companion froze, and I watched Frankie’s cheeks turn nice and rosy as she spun to look out at the water and recover herself.
Without turning back to me, she found her voice, albeit shaky, and said, “That’s not much of a lesson, Dawn. I already knew those things the night you took me home. Er — to your home. What’s the deeper lesson as it relates to witchcraft?”
She finally faced me again.
My smirk hadn’t budged an inch.
“Ah. Well, then the deeper lesson here is that witchcraft isn’t about what you can see. It’s about what you learn from old stories passed down through generations, from literature, and from people who love you. And it’s about the things felt while walking your path in life. You’re Catholic. Isn’t there something about not relying on sight in that holy book of yours? Don’t you believe in things you can’t see?”
Those last two questions seemed to bring Frankie out of her thoughts. She took a breath before answering.
“Fair. Yes, I think that verse is in Hebrews. Something about the evidence of things not seen. I take your point about believing in things I can’t see. I think every person has a guardian angel that looks out for them. When my dad was having his heart attack, I believe his guardian angel stayed with him and gave him the strength to persevere until he got to the operating table. If that’s possible, why not faeries? Er — fae? Which word should I use?”
I shrugged.
“Whichever. I don’t think Holly Black is going to hunt you down for using one word or another,” I said, starting to gather some longer sticks. “And I’m glad your dad made it. Mr. Ricci has some great stories that he sometimes shares in the newsroom. Like how when you were seven, you carried a notebook everywhere and interviewed every single person you saw because you wanted to be like him.”
Covering her face with her hands, my companion groaned and kicked at the sand. She knocked a rock down into an advancing wave, causing a small splash.
“Noooooooo. Fuck. He’s already telling you stories about me?” Frankie Dee grimaced. “You’ve gotta do me a favor, bub. Stop encouraging him. I keep trying to get him to take up golfing or sitting at Applebee’s or whatever the hell old white men do, but he insists the paper’s publisher needs to be in the newsroom, apparently telling embarrassing tales instead of Lighthouse-Journal history.”
With a giggle, I said, “What? I think it’s cute. He’s obviously very proud of you. Just like I’m sure he was back then when you reported on important things like the price of milk cartons increasing by a nickel at preschool.”
That seemed to strike a nerve. An adorable nerve.
“Fuck you,” Frankie said. “Consider your column canceled along with the rest of your witch lessons.”
I laughed all the harder.
A few minutes later, I was carving a little trench in the ground a few feet away from a large rock about half my height. Then I started to place the branches and sticks into the trench and lean them against the boulder to make a rough wall.
“It’s your first faerie house, so I figure we’ll keep it basic. A simple lean-to should suffice.”
While I established the outer wall, Frankie got down on her knees and cleared out the inside of leaves and pebbles until there was nothing but a neat dirt floor she stamped down with a flat rock. I couldn’t help but notice she was still wearing the bracelet I’d given her, which made me smile. In yet another way, it seemed like the newspaper editor was taking my beliefs seriously.
I found some long blades of grass nearby and put a second layer on the stick wall, tying the grass horizontally across the branches I leaned against the boulder. Meanwhile, Frankie found a wide cap of a mushroom, picked it, flipped it over, and carved out the gills. This left a bowl-shaped piece of fungus she filled with moss picked from a nearby log.
Frankie placed the little bed inside the house, and I nodded.
“Nice. You sure did pick this up quickly,” I said.
“Well, it’s actually pretty fun. I’m glad you invited me out here. So. . . the little elf that stays here will have a shelter and a soft bed. What else are we missing?” Frankie asked, standing up and popping her back.
I reached into my purse and pulled out a bag of sunflower seeds I’d picked up from the gas station near my home.
“An offering, of course,” I said, emptying half the package of seeds in front of the tiny bed my companion had made.
“So. . . what? You’re bribing the faerie that stays here to bless your bread?”
Shrugging again, I said, “Or to simply leave me off the list of humans they intend to prank next week. You never know. Fae are unpredictable folk. I find it’s best to simply make your offering and go about your business.”
On the beach, I found a chunk of orange feldspar with deep vertical grooves worn into its pattern. Frankie watched me pocket the stone after wiping all the sand off it.
“That’s a pretty little gem,” she said.
I nodded, swapping out a smooth piece of granite I’d found in the woods behind my house and setting it down in the sand.
The newspaper editor just looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
Running my fingers over the feldspar in my pocket, I said, “Oh, the fae never give anything away for free. So if I find a pretty stone here, I always leave one from the forest behind my house as a trade. You NEVER want to owe a fae debt.”
Frankie rubbed her chin and looked down at the rock I’d placed on the beach.
“These fae sure do have a lot of rules,” she said. I waited for a grin or some kind of smirk, any indication that she was making fun of me or not taking this seriously. All I saw was a thoughtful expression, like Frankie was visualizing a notebook in her head and a floating pen writing down every faerie fact I gave her.
The warmth in my chest only grew as she continued thinking and then turned in my direction with a smile. Butterflies in my stomach made me want to leave a note inside the little faerie house we’d built.
It would read, “Dear whoever finds this, Should you find time to help a pitiful lovesick mortal, I could use your assistance in gently persuading my coworker to dissolve our professional boundaries and stick her tongue down my throat. Thanks, your friendly Portland witch, Dawn.” I wouldn’t leave my last name because you never give any creature or being your full name. That only invites trouble from those who would have more influence over your fate.
With my mind turning back to rules, I said, “Fae are strangely obsessed with rules for being such chaotic spirits of nature. They love to follow the letter of their laws while dancing through loopholes and double meanings.”
Nodding, Frankie just added, “Hard tellin’ not knowin’, I suppose.”
Right about that time, I heard the flutter of wings and the call of a familiar black bird in the ash tree above us. The sun was getting lower, and temperatures were dropping. But this was the time my friend usually appeared.
“Well, hello there,” I said. “I’m glad to see you’re well.”
Frankie looked up to see who I was talking to. A large black raven with sleek feathers and a notch on the left side of her beak called down to us and even mimicked a “Hello there,” throwing my voice back at me in the way these smart, playful birds sometimes did.
“A friend of yours?” the newspaper editor asked.
I nodded.
“I named her Varella. Come out here once a week to feed her, even talk about life. When I first moved to Portland, I didn’t know anybody. And the prospect of making friends was a little overwhelming. So imagine my surprise when I came here to explore the faerie houses, and this beautiful bird kept me company, even letting me hand feed her.”
“Varella? That’s kind of a strange name. Why did you pick that one?” Frankie asked, putting her hands in her pockets to warm them.
Shrugging, I pulled out another bag of sunflower seeds and emptied them into my hand. But the raven did not come out of the tree like she normally did to perch on my wrist. We’d secured a good bond, and I loved her company over the last few years. But today she seemed a bit skittish, hopping on the tree’s branches while looking down at us and occasionally swiveling her head from side to side.
“I don’t think she trusts you,” I giggled, piling the sunflower seeds on the ground at the base of the tree. “We should probably go. It’s getting late. It was nice to see you again, Varella. And I’m sorry about my friend. I’m still teaching her about respecting other beings she may not understand.”
We started to leave, and Frankie turned to me and asked, “Do you think I offended her?”
I shrugged.
“Ravens are smart creatures. They can solve puzzles and remember faces, even teach offspring to hate or trust certain people. Don’t worry. I left extra sunflower seeds to make up for your comment,” I said with a chuckle.
Frankie Dee let out a sigh of relief. I couldn’t tell if it was genuine or not.
“Well, thanks,” she said. “I wouldn’t want the local raven community to seek vengeance on me. I live closer to Mackworth than you do.”
We got back to the parking lot a few minutes later, and I looked at Frankie as the last few rays of today’s sunlight washed over her bright blonde hair. As I stared into her chestnut eyes, all I wanted to do was take her home and curl up on the couch together, watching a movie.
Instead, I said, “C’mon. Let’s go get something to eat.”
Frankie raised an eyebrow.
“I’ve got you figured out, FeeDee. If we part now, you’ll probably try to sneak back to the office and squeeze in a few more hours of work, getting a sad ‘dinner’ from the breakroom vending machine or skipping it altogether. Or I could pester you to come with me, and we could hit up a little burrito place I like over by the Westing Hotel,” I said.
The newspaper editor rubbed her arm while thinking this over.
“Why do you do that?” she asked.
“Do what?”
“Try to. . . take care of me all the time?”
And suddenly we’d left the witchcraft lesson behind and moved into a conversation of dangerous proportions. A man in a leather jacket walked past us and climbed into his pickup truck, pulling out of the lot and driving across the narrow bridge that connected Mackworth Island to Route 1.
“Because friends look out for each other?” I offered.
“Friends?” she asked, and the question suddenly felt like a fence being posted in front of the gate to Frankie’s heart. I didn’t like that, but I wanted to respect her boundaries.
“Colleagues,” I offered instead.
She cocked her head to the side.
“I don’t like that word anymore,” the newspaper editor whispered, rubbing her arm a little harder now.
I could do nothing but wait while Frankie worked out what she wanted to say next.
And then the fence came down entirely as she said, “I think I like pals better.”
It was almost a whisper from her lips to my ears, and my gay little heart nearly came to a halt hearing her speak the words.
“Okay, Frankie. Pals,” I said.
She nodded, scratching her chin again. And as we left the island of faerie houses behind, my brain, perhaps a little inappropriately, thought, gals being pals.

2024.05.17 22:31 prisondiary Prison Diary - April 23rd

Drugs in prison - Woke up feeling pants and really groggy. My cell mate has been ill and I think I might have caught it off him. Not a happy chap today as I have zero energy. Even stayed in bed until one of the learners came and knocked me up asking why I wasn’t downstairs. FFS. I could have cried. Dramatic gay. Plus I must be ill as my wee stunk this morning. Just thought id share that.
Eventually went to the other blocks and done some teaching there then headed to block , crashed and fell asleep on the sofas on the landings. Sleeping on the job hey, lets hope they don’t take a days wages off me. £3.20 buys me 8 bananas which most weeks don’t turn up and im forever applying for a refund. It wouldn’t bother me so much on the outside but in here that is a lot of money.
Anyway, another day equals another fight. One of the boys pulled on Alans beard so he grabbed him by the throat up against the wall. Bit over the top?! Not if you could see Alans beard and how much pride he takes in it. Im sure its oiled everyday amongst other parts of his body. Urgh! He even sits at the table and strokes it as if its some kind of animal. It’s a little on the weird side.
Tonight's dinner was a real winner, I devoured two faggots. Hold on, before your imagination runs wild, let me clarify. I'm talking about actual meat here, not some prison code for secret shenanigans.
Social hour wasn't quite my cup of tea, as I was feeling a bit under the weather. So, I opted for a front row seat to the boys' card game extravaganza and indulged in a bit of good old people watching. Honestly if you keep your eyes peeled and watch the right people, you'll witness a veritable drug shop unfolding right before your eyes.
I decided to do a little observation on 'Chucky', our resident drug smuggle, lets go big and call him the drug king pin, to see how he works his magic. He does a manoeuvre that has never been seen before – hand down the pants (not exactly fashion-forward), retrieves the goods, and then discreetly bumps into another prisioner, all in one seamless motion and the exchange or ‘trade’ has taken place. that method is unheard of. I mean im being a sarcastic dick and if the offices cannot see that and know what it is then all hope is lost in this place.
The exchange even takes place in a blind spot for the cameras. Talk about a crash course in contraband commerce!
Walking past certain cells is an adventure i like to have to peep in and see how your neighbours have decorated.
In Jonnys. the unmistakable aroma of smoke wafts out, ofcourse, courtesy of makeshift cigarettes crafted from Bible pages and tea bag leaves or the classic Bible and tobacco combo that some resourceful inmates have managed to smuggle in. Yet, the ever vigilant officers seem to walk right past, blissfully unaware of the aromatic smells. Ah, the mysteries of prison life hey! I think it’s a case of if they are not causing any trouble then leave them get on with it. Or if your face fits then your fine.
One cell was open so I stopped and looked in. The curtains were closed, the disk light on the ceiling had dish clothes covering it so it gives a dim low red light, and the smoke alarm is covered with some form of plastic. The music was blasting and the guy just looks spaced out on his bed. How he can stay in that room with the strong smell of smoke I have no idea.
There is a lot of spice in this prison considering its the biggest Welsh prison I would have assumed security is tighter.. oh no. There is so much that they drop like flies daily. The alarms are always ringing with code blues.
We do have a main drug dealer though. Its Chucky. On a visit a few weeks ago my dad said ‘If I was a prison officer, id strip search that guy’, referring to Chucky. He went to the toilet, his visitor went to the toilet, then he would go again etc. Something was clearly going on. Back in the waiting room after visiting he pulled out 7 bags of white stuff. It was his sister and brother in law visiting. She got it via her knickers. Crazy shit right but so easily done.
On the wing tonight, he is walking around with 2 beaded Christian cross necklaces around his neck. Man, I aint no saint but fuck me, if he is looking to give himself to Jesus then the lord has his work cut out! Bit of advice from me to you God – Close those gates immediately! The day he gives himself to Jesus is the day when Jesus himself stands infront of me and slaps my face with a wet fish, and guess what Chucky – that aint ever gonna happen dude.
Rest of the evening has been chilling in the cell with my green tea and trail mix. Look at lucky me living the high life. Hopefully im feeling better tomorrow. I need some of Rich's chicken broth from back home. Ha, everytime i was poorly he would make it for me without fail. A big grin just come on my face thinking about that. I remember trying to make it for him once when he was poorly, he ended up making it as I had no idea what I was doing and I was calling him every 20 minutes asking for more guidance. Huge love.
In other news a new guy came in today and was walking as if he had hurt his leg, when one of the officers asked him about it he was so off his face that he didn't hear them. This afternoon when they went to his cell they caught him squatting down I'm pulling bags of drugs out of his arse – amazing. When the officer was telling me this I was weak laughing, This is crazy shit.
Apparently he is one of them that use the prison doors as a rotating door and knows how easy it is to get drugs in here. He's only been here for hours and he's asked half the prison for drugs already – and scored.
