2024.05.21 22:34 blingheart What turned you against Ariana?

I was a casual fan who followed Ariana’s career since 2015. I mostly just listened to her music and watched her performances. I thought she was talented, cute, and fun, but overall I didn’t really have an opinion on Ariana as a person until 2018 when the Mac/Pete/TUN drama happened. I started to side eye her, but I still gave her the benefit of the doubt. It’s been so long that it’s easy to forget how likable she was back then. She had so much good will from the GP.
Anyways, the seeds of doubt had been planted, but I really started to realize that she was a bad person sometime around early 2020. Finally it just clicked.
The way she shoved her relationship with Pete in Mac’s face, profited from the whole debacle (It literally catapulted her from being a B list popstar like Selena or Demi to being an A lister and ushered in her career peak), released a song bragging about her wealth and success followed up by a song basically glorifying being a homewrecker, the mean-spirited JonBenét Ramsey joke, the Pop Crave leaks showing her talking shit about her peers and trying to manipulate the narrative surrounding her dating life, reading about her history of mistreating others, the constant plastic surgery and race-shifting…
Ariana suddenly seemed so smug, phony, and unlikeable to me. There’s still a part of me that’s a fan, but let’s just say that the events of the last year definitely do not surprise me at all.

2024.05.21 11:31 Toteldejesus How octogenarian Cecile Guidote-Alvarez rushed to the beauty salon to tackle West Philippine Sea

On a rainy Saturday afternoon not so long ago when internet connection was fluctuating in most homes, the 80-year-old Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, widow of the late Senator Heherson Alvarez, carrying a mini iPad, hurriedly alighted from a three-wheeled pedicab Toktok and stormed her way into a popular coffee shop in a mall in Manila.

A senior citizen in panic mode, she told the stunned baristas she’s looking for a Wi-Fi connection because she was about to interview retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio via Zoom.
The coffee shop, a known world brand, has Wi-Fi exclusive to its employees, so the old lady was told to try other establishments. She went from one coffee shop to another only to be told the same, until a kind stranger led her to a well-known beauty salon with a free internet connection.
The lady salon attendant was very accommodating to the octogenarian, even typing the password on her IPad. Of course, she needed to avail herself of their salon services. Initially, she opted for a haircut, but since she needed to talk and hear clearly who she was talking to, she settled for a foot spa with pedicure.
“They lowered the volume of the piped-in music, and since there were less customers because it’s been raining all day, I was able to do my interview,” Guidote-Alvarez said.
For the next half-an-hour, the hair dressers and manicurists working with their scissors, nail clippers and cuticle removers on their customers’ hair and fingernails, listened to Carpio and Guidote-Alvarez discussed how Filipino fishermen and the Philippine Navy ships helplessly negotiate their ways in Scarborough Shoal amid the territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea.
“They were all very nice to me. I was able to finish my interview, with newly pedicured nails,” she told The Diarist.
For those who’ve worked with Guidote-Alvarez, her steadfast, almost stubborn, nature to accomplish a task, is nothing out of the ordinary. She would improvise, find alternatives, call up friends and former students, wake them up from sleep, just to get things done.
But now, in her 80s, legally blind and nearly deaf, she has mellowed down.
Cecile Alvarez with her mentors, National Artist for Literature Alejandro Roces, Jr and Fr. James Reuter. SJ
In her twilight years, Guidote-Alvarez has been solely hosting the 57-year-old Radyo Balintataw on DZRH, one of the oldest radio stations in the Philippines, where she tackles a wide range of topics, from climate change, women’s health, theater, culture, dance, to current issues, apart from playing old recordings of classic radio plays she produced and directed, dating back to the late ‘80s.
She shared with TheDiarist.ph how she started and continues to host one of the longest running advocacy programs on AM Radio.
Theater on TV
After founding the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) on April 7, 1967, or exactly 57 years ago, Guidote-Alvarez thought of the need to expose PETA’s members to television, so she started conceptualizing Balintataw, which in Filipino means the pupil of the eye, but in a larger context has something to do with having wild imagination, or what you might see if you have a third eye.
“I designed Balintataw as a bridge between cinema and the stage, where the youth being trained in theater skills can have a ready-made laboratory experience linked with the film and entertainment industry that would likewise have a natural on-the-job training and orientation regarding the theatrical discipline of working with a literary script, whether dramatic or comic—not the regular improvised script done on taping or copycat scripts from foreign themes,” Guidote-Alvarez wrote in her yet-to-be published Memoir of a Freedom Fighter’s Wife.
“A primary goal when I conceived PETA was to initiate and sustain artistic expression that draws meaning and power from the lives of the people, and sharing the literary gems with a greater number of audiences through a Broadcast Theater-Film Program with Balintataw on Channel 5,” she added.
“No matter how little the pay, at least it provided our local writers with a little honorarium. I sought permission for award-winning pieces of the Palanca Playwriting contest to be fleshed out to reach the masses. The much-awarded playwright Bert Florentino served as our literary manager, assisted by Mauro Avena. Eventually, Isagani Cruz took over when Bert left for the US,” she wrote.
“Writers need exposure and encouragement through a regular TV performance that will give them a sense of achievement and inspire them to keep on writing with some kind of honorarium. I was glad Lupita Aquino (now Kashiwahara) agreed to be TV director and Robert Arevalo as TV host.
She got members of the PETA Kalinangan Ensemble to serve as stage directors. “This is to undertake preliminary preparation with a rehearsal with the actors for character development and memorization and preliminary staging,” she wrote.
Five months after PETA was founded, Balintataw TV premiered on Channel 5 on Aug. 19, 1967, coinciding with the Buwan ng Wika birthdate of President Manuel Luis Quezon.
The first play, whose title escapes her now, featured Armida Siguion-Reyna and Maria Eva “Chingbee” Kalaw. She employed photo journalist and award-winning photographedocumentarist/cinematographer, Romy Vitug, to work with her in filming outdoor scenes for Balintataw.
In the pre-Martial Law Balintataw, among those initiated into television were Lino Brocka, Elwood Perez, Nick Lizaso, Maryo delos Reyes, Mario O’Hara, Joey Gosiengfiao, Behn Cervantes, and Frank Rivera.
Among the stage actors who crossed over to television were Lily Gamboa, Angie Ferro, Lorlie Villanueva, Jonee Gamboa, Joy Soler, Sherry Lara, Gardy Labad, Noel Trinidad.
Like with PETA, Guidote-Alvarez directed and managed Balintataw for five years. Because of Martial Law, she and husband Heherson went on exile in the US to escape a military shoot-to-kill order on Heherson, who was tagged as a subversive.
Post-Martial Law
Internationally acclaimed auteur Lav Diaz mentioned in several interviews how he learned writing radio and TV scripts in Balintataw.
This happened in the late 1980s, when the Alvarez couple returned from exile.
Despite its absence on the air in the Martial Law years, Balintataw was honored by Star Awards as among the 20 unforgettable outstanding broadcast programs in the Philippines.
“This encouraged me to consider reviving Balintataw on TV. Another blessing was a FAMAS award for having an important role in the development of cinema recognizing Balintataw as a bridge for synergizing cinema with the stage, providing a pathway of entry of our PETA artists into film and for movie stars to consider enriching their experience by acting on the legitimate stage,” Guidote-Alvarez wrote.
Though she didn’t return to PETA anymore because it had been surviving well and had its own set of officers led by Brocka, she just tapped some of its members for the return of Balintataw.
For 14 years, the Alvarez couple lived in the US as political exiles, shown here during a Ninoy Aquino Movement meeting. Cecile revived Radyo Balintataw upon their return in the late 1980s.
Channel 4 stint
“I arranged to revive TV Balintataw on Channel 4 in 1989. We began with a drama about a rebel returnee, title escapes me now, but I clearly remember it was written by Lualhati Bautista and directed by Maryo de los Reyes. We also had a good story series on the hazing of Lenny Villa, an Aquila Legis Frat neophyte,” she wrote.
At the time, Heherson had been elected senator after having served as Agrarian Reform Minister and eventually Cabinet Secretary during the first year of the Cory Aquino Administration.
“We were able to unravel the deadly hazing process from a fellow neophyte who broke the code of silence as we revealed graphically, acted the cruel process used. I had Jose Mari Avellana direct it. This presentation won all the awards. Lav Diaz was training with us and he started writing teleplays. We also had Nora Aunor in an adaptation of Bert Florentino’s The World Is An Apple, adapted by Frank Rivera, and I had Nick Lizaso direct.”
Emmy Awards
Balintataw TV was selected as one of five soaps for social change recognized by Emmy Awards. The Philippines was one of five countries cited, with Mexico, India, Brazil and Kenya.
“The nomination was made possible by the wonderful support from David Poindexter. It was a supreme honor for our country to be recognized in the Emmy Awards, to be cited among the five Third World countries using soap opera for social change.”
Poindexter was a Methodist minister and TV producer who founded the Population Communications International.
Surviving on radio
“In spite of the cry about how television can be deadening the minds of the people with copied themes with an eternal favorite love triangle story, there was really no funding for Balintataw,” she wrote.
“Sponsors would go naturally to the commercial stations where big stars were paid highly for the starring role. Balintataw may have substance but we could not afford payment of bankable stars,” she added.
“Financial stress forced me to drop TV and remain on radio because I didn’t want to kill Balintataw per se just because we didn’t have funds.”
Creative classroom
“We have focused on Balintataw as a creative classroom on the air. I was able to talk to Fred J. Elizalde of DZRH and the president of the network, Mr. Jun Nicdao,” she wrote.
In the ‘80s, the HIV/AIDS became a global epidemic and in the Philippines, the general populace was still clueless on how to deal with it.
“In order to get funding, the first series I did was about the explosive news regarding AIDS in Asia. I got the DOH Secretary at the time, Dr. Juan Flavier, to act as himself, providing the data. It was easier to start off with an AIDS radio serial.
They did a minimum of 13 episodes to raise awareness about the disease.
“From then on, some of our television scripts we transformed into a radio version. DZRH provided us with our initial production staff, so we used some from the network and some of its resident artists and drama talents. Our time slots were changing but always coming after the long-running horror drama, Gabi ng Lagim.
“We worked on the themes of overseas workers, the drug problem, corruption, aside from portraying contemporary and literary classics serving as social commentaries,” she wrote.
Women playwrights
“We dramatized the works of noted women writers and playwrights like Estrella Alfon, Genoveva Edroza Matute and Marilou Jacob, who is distinguished in being a founding president of Women’s Playwright International.
“Apart from our PETA staple of writers, we involved young, upcoming and budding university and community theater groups.
“We also had a lot of foreign plays, where we could feature theater festivals beyond borders. We could do Shakespeare, we could do Euripides but also the current playwrights in the Arab region we translated in our language.
“We brought in Chinese contemporary plays, Malaysian, Indonesian and from other women writers from ASEAN member countries.”
Virtual history book
“The significance of Balintataw is portrayed as a virtual history book on audio as it unveiled events in the country. Radio is fresh, instant and up-to date,” she added.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Balintataw became Guidote-Alvarez’s outlet and therapy. Having lost her husband on the second month of the pandemic, a widow cocooned at home, she began hosting it six days a week, learning how to use an iPad and interviewing via Zoom.
The word “Balintataw” has been associated with her name.
Visual artist and editorial cartoonist Benjie Lontoc in casual meeting told us how in his younger days, when AM Radio was a national past-time, he was surprised to hear a Filipino adaptation of No Exit by Jean Paul-Sarte. This was when radio was airing soap, fantasy adventures targeting housewives and children.
Another was the airing of Larawan as a radio play in the 1990s, with Guidote-Alvarez as the voice of Candida Marasigan.
Leopoldo Salcedo (left) as Manolo in a confrontation scene with Dante Rivero as Tony Javier in PETA’s 1968 ‘Larawan’ directed by Cecile Guidote-Alvarez. (Photo from PETA archives)
In the 1960s, she directed Larawan, the first Filipino adaptation of Joaquin’s A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino for PETA’s second season. It ran from December 1968 to January 1969 at the Raha Sulayman Theater at Fort Santiago in Intramural. In the cast were Rita Gomez (Candida), Lolita Rodriguez (Paula), Leopoldo Salcedo (Don Manolo) and Dante Rivero (Tony Javier).
Guidote-Alvarez has a funny recollection of the radio play. It was Nick Joaquin himself who told her years ago how his pedicurist suddenly started a conversation about Larawan.
Joaquin was relaxing on the barber’s chair having a post-haircut pedicure and foot spa when the lady pedicurist asked him how the story would end. Joaquin was stunned because he didn’t want to be known in the barber shop as Nick Joaquin the famous National Artist for Literature, but just a regular customer.
“He told me he almost fell out from the chair. He was a very private person and the pedicurist recognized him as the playwright,” Guidote-Alvarez, laughing, told TheDiarist.ph.
When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, she was given only three years to live. It’s been more than two decades since then. She has also conquered COVID-19 twice.
Over and beyond her work in theater and various advocacies, Guidote-Alvarez is among the few surviving practitioners of AM Radio broadcasting.
The beauty salon incident wasn’t a first for the octogenarian radio host. She occasionally went back there to interview guests and record her shows whenever Wi-Fi connections in her home fluctuated.
Despite all setbacks, man-made or otherwise, the steadfast Cecile Guidote-Alvarez’s voice continues to be heard in this mass media platform in an era that knows mainly Spotify. As Joaquin wrote, “to remember and to sing, that is her vocation.”
(Except Saturday, Radyo Balintataw airs daily on DZRH 666 Khz AM radio after ‘Gabi ng Lagim’, and live streamed on radio.org.ph. Some episodes have been uploaded on YouTube.)

2024.05.21 11:16 These-Gain-1615 Grimes is a controversial but inspiring person at the same time

I went through a journey during the past six months that helped me explore a part of myself that I did not know. I feel that I have changed radically since I started following it (I am 17, but I feel that I have become more mature than other adults).
At first I didn't know about Grimes, but I was an obsessive, worshipful Elon Musk fan, interested in his daily habits like working 12 hours and sleeping 7 hours a day (which he lied about), and I stuck my nose into his personal life (like an obsessive K-Pop fan ), I found that most of his previous women were attractive (blonde and very traditional attractiveness) except for Grimes, who I found ugly and witch-like in their first appearance on the Met Gala, so I decided to search for her more (and it was the best work I did in my life), I was I was worried about this woman. I felt that she was a Freemason and belonged to the Illuminati (because of her strange clothes and her album covers) or that she was a witch and cast black magic spells in her songs to enchant her audience and kill them, and I was very afraid.
I had a strange feeling for her and went to her YouTube channel and listened to Oblivion and it seemed like a bad and ugly song the first time (I mean, my taste is bad) and I said to myself that I would never listen to any of her songs again since Oblivion was the most viewed song and I didn't like it (my view was superficial and ridiculous), I went to reddit and found that her fans were praising her playing. I was amazed to know that she produces her own music and melodies unlike other pop stars like Selena or Taylor. I listened to Oblivion again and this time focused on the vocal tracks and Then I listened to Genesis and it sounded like a fortune teller or something like that. I then listened to all of her songs and went to translate them. I was amazed that they did not contain the words of a prostitute girl and cursing, and she rarely sings about love. I was interested in her from that moment on and it went. To watch all of her interviews she seemed so spontaneous and unconventional. I loved that she expressed her political opinions even on unrelated topics (like her talk about challenging societal norms of diet and weight and her controversial talk about being a vegetarian and eating hot dogs). Teens and Kids benefit from interviewing her (even about preferences) unlike other celebrities whose interviews are mostly a waste of time.
I stopped by to watch her other interview with Lex Friedman, found it helpful except for a few points (I wrote down every word she said in the interview in a notebook) and bought those books she recommended like the "Culture Series" and even watched the anime "Totoro" which she recommended for kids. I used to watch podcasts about famous singers and almost the same thing is repeated by most of them and there is no value learned, but for me every interview with Grimes is a big change for my personality.
I finished all of her interviews and went to follow all of her accounts, and I was surprised that she responded to comments (such as her response to a comment about makeup) because I was accustomed to the culture of celebrities who leave thousands of comments without responding. I also compared the comments, as the comments of celebrities are frequent (such as: I love you (You're beautiful, you're sexy, heart and rose emojis...) and the comments on the grimes account are full of mature and creative people and I loved her interactions with fans and the awkward things like her talking to the grimes AI (which they designed to be immortal grimes...), and her tweets Regarding preferences about anime and manga, and her crazy looks that show her asymmetrical artistic body, her embarrassing interviews, and her big nose, all the way to her foolish and controversial opinions, although I do not like many of the stupid things that she says, but I love her frank personality without apology, she says Things she knows lead to her being hated, unlike other stars who flatter and pretend to be nice and kind to get as many obsessed fans as possible.
I've changed a lot during the 6 months I spent looking at anything related to grimes. I've become more confident in myself. Well, I hate something called self-confidence. I'll replace it with: "I've become more embarrassed." I used to be shy about revealing that I'm an otaku, and now I am... I became more frank and more open to declaring the world I had created inside my imagination - Vikings, cards, and science fiction. I became less anxious and considered my very thin, asymmetrical yellow body to be an unconventional standard of beauty. I became open to different cultures, ancient civilizations, and ancient poetry. And history, and I invented unique hair colors instead of blonde, and made my body and face a guinea pig for crazy tricks with liquid eyeliner. They also became more accepting of my damned embarrassing personality instead of searching for silly videos about increasing self-confidence and a strong personality that attracts men. I was obsessed with Elon Musk, but after I learned about his crazy relationship with Grimes, I learned that he is just a fat, narcissistic, sadistic child, and billionaires should not be taken as an example.
I'm not a huge fan of grimes but she is an interesting person and anyone who is trapped in the shell of being obsessed with Taylor Swift (but not limited to) should know about grimes

2024.05.21 06:56 RedSiren2 Parent's Day is full of woe (fanscript/fanepisode) (spoilers) (part 5)

Cut to Morticia and Bianca at the gym.
Morticia: Lovely still. Though it has always bothered me that we had to wear such heavy gear.
Bianca: I can imagine.
Morticia: (looks around, sighs) This place is full of memories. But probably so to you.
Bianca: (quietly, staring out the window) Yes.
Morticia: (looks at her) There is also pain in here. Not just from every bruise that ever came and went in this room. Although that really lights it up a bit.
Bianca: I guess that’s most of the pain for me.
Morticia: (tilts her head at her)
Bianca: (returns her look, but stays composed)
Morticia: I’ve left some friends in this room. People I … sometimes miss dearly.
Bianca: (tries her best to stay composed)
Morticia: But sometimes – you have to leave one room and seek friends in another. Most often, they are even waiting there.
Bianca: I suppose.
Morticia: Or you take a stab.
Bianca: What?
Morticia: (chuckles) Take a stab. Fight for what you really want, and don’t be afraid of pain.
Bianca: (looks at her for a long moment, smiling a little)
Morticia: (returns it, a little somber) Your mother was always good at this in her own way. But I’d like to see how you do it.
Bianca: (chuckles)
They exchange a smile.
Bianca: Not perhaps … right now?
Morticia: (smiles wider, raising an eyebrow)
Cut to them having put on fencing vests only, getting into position with their swords.
Bianca: En garde!
Morticia: After you.
They start, skillfully dodging the other’s hits. They have to try hard to keep up with one another, but have some fun. Sonly, Bianca hits Morticia’s dress above the leg, cutting it.
Bianca: (gasps a little) I- I’m sorry…
Morticia: (smirks, unfazed) Not bad.
They exchange another smile, then proceed. Cut to the group – Gomez and Pugsley are chatting with Ajax when Eugene lands next to the table, having flown there. Vincent comes walking en suite, applauding gently.
Eugene: (to Vincent) I can go a lot faster too, but I thought you might want to see the flight itself.
Vincent: It was splendid. Absolutely. Now – (he turns to the table and Wednesday, who stares at him) last but not least, Miss Addams. Come with me.
Wednesday hesitates for a moment, then gets up. Gomez observes them coldly, but doesn’t move.
Vincent: Lovely. I heard you are gifted. (he looks at Gomez, smiling) But of course you must be.
Gomez returns his look coldly, still not moving. Vincent walks away with Wednesday and Cedric.
Xavier: (to Eugene) So, how was it?
Eugene: He offered me an apprenticeship.
Xavier: (chuckles) Course he did.
Gomez: Make sure he pays you well.
Eugene: (looks at him)
Gomez: Send me the contract, I will look it over.
Eugene: Okay.
Gomez: (tries to smile, but still seems uncomfortable – he pulls out his phone and texts Morticia)
In this moment, Barnes gets a message. He turns to Davis and Xavier.
Barnes: Your father is meeting us at the car.
Xavier: (sighs, gets up)
Davis follows, getting up slowly, but waving away as Xavier offers his arm. He follows Barnes, but mostly looks on as the conversation begins.
Barnes: Ced says he’ll soon be done talking her.
Xavier: Hm. (doesn’t really know what to say)
Barnes: (looks at him) So, the girl. How are things?
Xavier: (smirks) Fine, I guess. We’re getting somewhere, I think.
Barnes: (sighs)
Xavier: What?
Barnes: You know I just want what’s best for you, kid. And she’s … well …
Xavier: What?
Barnes: An Addams, for one. You know that.
Xavier: (sighs) Yeah. And I guess you won’t help me if she takes my hand by removing it. (smirks at him)
Barnes: That’s not fair. You keep me worrying.
Xavier: I’m not entirely unprotected.
Barnes: I know. (smiles) Did you know you look a lot happier than usual?
Xavier: Really?
Barnes: This entire group around you seems really great. (he looks ahead as they walk on) That’s worth a lot, isn’t it?
Xavier: (takes a moment) … now that’s not fair.
Barnes: (looks at him, very seriously) I told you I want what’s best for you. We all do. And so do your friends. Remember that.
Xavier: (looks at him, then retaliates)
Barnes pats his back, which he returns.
Cut to Vincent and Wednesday walking by the forest, yet in silence. Ced is staying a few meters behind.
Wednesday: So … am I to stay away from your son?
Vincent: (chuckles) Much like another poor boy, he can’t bring himself to stay away. (looks at her) You really have him wrapped around your little finger.
Wednesday: That is his own doing.
Vincent: He’s determined, credit where credit’s due.
Wednesday: Perhaps a little too much.
Vincent: Indeed. He’s a highly emotional person, but that’s an insufferable downside that comes with his age.
Wednesday: Don’t you think I’ll tell him you said that?
Vincent: (smiles) I’m counting on it.
Wednesday: (looks at him for a long moment)
Vincent: (smiles) You’ve been talking to him about visions, haven’t you?
Wednesday: I have.
Vincent: Given his limited experience, would you like to know more about them?
Wednesday: He did say they are unreliable.
Vincent: (sighs) They show potential for something happening in the future. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes things falling together, sometimes a successfully carried out plan. (smiles at her) You are familiar with those, right?
Wednesday: (glares at him) Yes.
Vincent: But that is just the first thing to learn. There is more. (chuckles) Far more.
Wednesday: Such as?
Vincent: (looks at her) The answers are scheduled for another time. In my experience, it is better if you learn them at … your own speed.
Wednesday: (stares at him)
Vincent: But know this: (he stops, smiling widely at her) luck favours the prepared.
Wednesday: And?
Vincent: Those who know their way around.
They stare at each other. Then he turns – he’s lead them to his car, where Xavier is standing. He gives her one more smile, then walks over to him. Wednesday looks on, then turns and heads back to the meadow.
Vincent turns to Xavier as Ced holds open the door. They look at each other for a moment.
Vincent: You do remember I’m not the enemy, right?
Xavier: (looks at him)
Vincent: We’re working together. You help me, I help you. Keep your school.
Xavier: (sighs, nodding)
Vincent: (puts a hand on his shoulder and leans over) All-gifted.
Xavier: Unstoppable.
Vincent smiles, pats his shoulder and gets into the car. Ced, Barnes and Davis smile and wave at him as they leave, which he returns. When they’ve driven away, he looks somber. He turns and walks away, not heading for the meadow.

2024.05.20 16:52 sweetbaeunleashed Will the saga continue or is it finally over???

I asked this in a comment, but am actually curious about everyone's take on this:
Do you think seeing Sel with Benny shook Justin a bit? Sort of like a reality check of it's finally over ? If Justin's thought process is anything like it used to be, he would view Selena dating Benny as intentionally calculated and cruel, thus doing things on his end just to spite her. Growth and maturity would mean he's happy for the both of them but that's why I ask... Because Justin hasn't grown much 💀
On the other end, I think Hailey's pregnancy was more of the nail in the coffin for Selena. Knowing how toxic and unrealistic his relationship is with Hailey, I think deep down Selena felt like maaaaybe there was a chance to reconcile in the future if Justin would have just grown TF up and showed Selena that she was worth the hard work, but he hasn't. Only in his music he'll write about waking up in the city but not seeing her face, only in his MV he has hints and clues that are obviously just for her, for in-between them. It's child play IMO, and I think Selena sees that too. Good riddance! The toxic part of my brain wanted to see Bennifer 2.0 down the line, but being as that train just crashed I'm like hmm maybe it's better this way 😅 Though I don't see the "drama" between this trio ending anytime soon 🫠

2024.05.19 20:01 23dfr SERIES 12 - Reworking 13/14's era

With Ncuti's new series now begun, I wanted to take the opportunity to look back on the previous eras of the show. A common opinion for the Chibnall era is that there was a lot of unrealised potential, plenty of interesting ideas/concepts but not always fully developed.
I think most of the ingredients were there, and all it needed to massively improve the whole era was to swap around certain elements - i.e. without radically changing anything. Just swapping certain episodes and characters around would have given more meaningful arcs, storylines and character development. And after watching the 60th, I think some of the same criticism applies to some extent.
I will make a separate post for each series from S11 to the 60th, going into detail of how I think each episode could have been adapted.
INTRODUCTION: https://www.reddit.com/doctorwho/comments/1cee488/reworking_1314s_era/
SERIES 11: https://www.reddit.com/gallifrey/comments/1cmmric/series_11_reworking_1314s_era/

Series 12:

Characters & Arcs - Yaz would join as a full-time companion from Spyfall, after being introduced for the first time in Resolution. Series 12 would have a subtle arc around mental health, exploring both Yaz's background and the Doctor's own trauma following the various revelations across the series, as she is forced to stop running away from her past. As the only main companion in this series, generally there would be more space to explore Yaz individually as a character, for example her views on morality and justice as a police officer, her relationships with her family etc, plus some earlier hints at her feelings towards the Doctor.
The Master - Instead of Dhawan's incarnation, Missy would stay on as the Master for 13's era. The whole Timeless Child arc would perhaps fit better in connection with Missy's redemption arc in S10, rather than having a new incarnation? A more conflicted side to the Master would have been more logical here, rather than reverting back to pure evil so quickly. Missy sitill feels some sense of friendship towards the Doctor, but at the same time can't handle the fact that her existence is somehow a result of the Doctor.
Festive Specials & Captain Jack - To fully explore the plot of Revolution of the Doctor, alongside the Doctor's time in prison, and the return of Captain Jack, this story would be split into two parts . The first part (named 'Revelations of the Doctor') would have 13 in prison for the full episode, and Yaz on Earth stuggling to deal with the Dalek plot in her absence. I always thought bringing Jack back in 13's era was a perfect chance for the Doctor to properly confide in someone and process everything, since Jack had lost two years of his memories (removed by the Time Agency, an organisation not dissimilar to Division), and since would have had time to process that trauma. And therefore also giving a bit more purpose to his character returning.
Ep1-2: Spyfall
The Doctor is called in by MI6, and insists that Yaz comes along too (as a police officer). They start to investigate together, and 13 calls an agent she knows to help. This character would be played by Michelle Gomez, but with a disguise making her unrecognisable (a bit like Mr Razor in S10), as well as different accent - revealing herself as Missy on the plane at the end of Part 1.
Yaz spends Part 2 on the run alone - I think this would give an interesting start to a companion's run, having to fend for herself before actually knowing much about the Doctor or the Tardis. This would also start to explore Yaz's police background, as she initially tries to follow her training and protocols, but is forced to go against everything she has been taught to escape Missy and Daniel Barton. At the end of Spyfall, the Doctor invites Yaz to travel with her.
Ep3: Demons of the Punjab
Another quicker start to a new companion - for her first trip in the Tardis, Yaz requests to go back in time to see her Grandmother, leading to the storyline at the partition of India.
This episode would also play a bigger role in 13 and Yaz's arc later on. There were lots of fan theories that Power of the Doctor would be foreshadowed by Demons of the Punjab, so I would make this the reality later on, using Yaz's Grandmother to tease Yaz's own departure from the show, as well as the Thijarians later returning to honour 13 as she regenerates.
Ep4: Arachnids in the UK
Yaz returns home after the emotional previous episode, and the Doctor meets her family in the present day.
With Missy staying on as the Master, I would instead have Sacha Dhawan play an alternative villain, replacing Jack Robertson's role. He would be first introduced in the S11 finale, but not actually meet the Doctor until this episode.
Ep5: Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror
This episode would see the return of the Paternoster gang - who I think would have been one of the better options of characters to bring back during the Chibnall era, and this episode would fit best in terms of time setting (as well as the detail of the Silurian blaster). Strax's confusion over gender could also have fitted with having a female Doctor. Yaz and Vastra could also work well together, as a police officier and a detective.
I would also use the plot around the Skithra to subtly foreshadow S12's finale. Just as the Skithra steal technology that isn't theirs for their own advantage, the Time Lords similarly took advantage of the Timeless Child's genetics.
Ep6: Fugitive of the Judoon
No major changes, other than Yaz being the only companion. Could further explore Yaz's police background in comparison with the Judoon.
Ep7: Can You Hear Me?
Graham would return in this episode (a bit like Martha in S4) - at the start we would see how he adjusted back to life on Earth without Grace, starting to form a closer relationship with Ryan. Graham calls the Doctor after having nightmares, and they go on to investigate. Graham later confides in 13 about his cancer fears, but an extra scene is added. After Graham leaves, 13 from the future re-materialises and tells Graham what she wanted to say to reassure him. A bit like in S1, when The Doctor comes back to tell Rose that he can also travel in Time. 13 could also gift Graham the psychic paper at this point.
Alongside Graham's storyline, we would also see Yaz's mental health struggles in the past. Later episodes could flash back to this scene, where Yaz takes inspiration from the other police officer, wanting to make a difference to someone else (maybe the Doctor)?
Ep8: The Haunting of Villa Diodati
No major changes - though could give a more direct hint at Yaz's feelings towards the Doctor (when she talks about her 'enigmatic person').
Ep9: Ascension of the Cybermen
As the only companion, Yaz plays a greater role as she has to command the other survivors in the Cyber ship.
Ep10: The Timeless Children
Missy returns to tell the Doctor about the Timeless Child. I would suggest to have less narration for these scenes, and instead add dialogue to the flashbacks of Tecteun and the child.
Also with Missy staying on as the Master, the creation of the CyberMasters (made from the Timeless Child's genetics) would kind of go full circle from the army of Cybermen that Missy presented to 12 when she was first introduced.
Revelations of the Doctor
Part one to the festive special, exploring how 13 spent her time in prison processing the Timeless Child revelations. Feature the Judoon more, and have some of the other prisoners as side characters. Some of the scenes of 13 alone in her prison cell could be more like Heaven Sent? The episode would end on the cliffhanger of Jack appearing in the prison to break the Doctor out.
Simultaneously we switch back to Yaz back on Earth. She has been sleeping in the extra Tardis, and her family eventually track her down there, and Yaz starts to share where she has been recently (travelling in the Tardis). Sacha Dhawan's character is back, using the "defence drones" to make a deal with the new prime minister. Yaz and her family (including her mother, who he previously employed at the hotel), try to confront him, but are unsuccessful.
Revolution of the Daleks
Part 2 then picks up with 13 and Jack teleporting into the Tardis, and then reuniting with Yaz again, who informs them of the Dalek plot. Much of the rest of the episode would remain unchanged, but with some additional scenes to further explore the Dalek's invasion before they are defeated. The lack of Ryan and Graham would also give more time with Jack's character. The scene with 13 and Ryan on the Tardis steps would be replaced with Jack, as 13 confides in him about the Timeless Child, knowing that Jack also had lost some memories. And also making Jack's exit at the end less abrupt.

Here is the recap of the 11 monetized posts from Kylea G Weight loss Journey on 05/18/24.
"Greed is a never-ending hunger, that drives people to sacrifice morals and values for personal gain." -Unknown
⚠️ Compulsive Buying Disorder (CBD), aka shopping addiction, Disordered Eating, Gaslighting, Grief, Illness, Infertility, TTC (trying to conceive) Community, and Religion will be discussed.
Disclaimers: I am not a physician, influencer, or paid content creator. I am not affiliated with WW. I am semi-retired from the healthcare field with multiple college degrees. These opinions are my own based on social media content. I wish no harm to Kylea or Joseph "Joe" Gomez.
☎️ If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, please call or text 988 for assistance.
Behind the Scenes Family Update: Kylea Gomez has been exploiting a life-changing medical diagnosis of a close relative (without their permission and against their wishes) to internet strangers in social media messages. She has claimed that she is supporting this relative (which is a lie) to justify her work ethic, productivity, and even basic hygiene issues. Let that sink in for a moment...
To this relative: You, your family, and your medical team are in my prayers. ✝️
To Kylea's Biological Parents: Your daughter disparages your name and relationship for personal and financial gain frequently. No concert, trip, or gift provided to you with money obtained under (allegedly) false and deceptive pretenses justifies Kylea's disturbing behaviors. Stop enabling her.
California Clarification: Kylea was rejected by a Cavapoo breeder from adopting the Original Birdie (OB) during her California trip. I am thankful to the breeders of OB for making a tough decision in the best interest of the puppy. For me, this seals the deal that Kylea falsified details of this California trip and rushed home to find Backup Birdie (BB), who is the focus of today's content.
The tagline of Kylea G Weight loss Journey is, "I changed my entire life with prayer and a playlist of songs. No surgery, no meds. Just Jesus."
DAILY STATS: 05/18/24
0/11 posts discussed prayer
0/11 posts discussed music
0/11 posts discussed exercise
3/11 posts discussed a recipe
1/11 posts was about takeout "coffee" at 5 am
7/11 posts were about Birdie Mae 🐶
📢 For our friends at Meta, that means 63% of Kylea's monetized content had nothing to do with weight loss, which is the tagline and purpose of her page. Her weight loss journey ended July 2023 per her content. Why do you continue to pay her for non-weight loss content?
⚠️ Disordered Eating- Daily WW Points Used (Data compiled from monetized content):
1 WW Point: Crazy Llama "coffee" with almond milk, sugar-free vanilla, sugar-free peppermint, and sugar-free white chocolate
3 WW Points: Taco Soup with 12 Trader Joe's Rolled Corn Chili & Lime flavored Tortilla Chips
📢 For our friends at Meta, Kylea consumed 4 WW points out of (up to) 30 daily WW points= SEVERE disordered eating. This messaging is deadly for those on a weight loss journey. Follow your policies and take action.
Recipes Shared: 1. Taco Soup: 🚨 This recipe has dangerous sodium levels. Please know your daily sodium recommendations before making this recipe. 🚨
  1. Taco Rice Bowls: The soup is drained and added to 1 minute jalapeño rice with cheese. 🚨 The sodium alert is the same as above. 🚨
☎️ Please speak with a medical professional about any questions or concerns you have about your health.
Comments: To the animal lovers, I am sending you good vibes to get through this nonsense. Here we go...
  1. Coffee at 5am: Kylea and Joe are pictured in their vehicle outside Crazy Llama Coffee with the sun shining bright. Kylea claims she was home at 5 am, and Joe took her right away to get her "favorite coffee."
⏸️ The sun rises in Joplin after 6 am. Why lie? ⏸️ Her facial sunburn that disappeared yesterday is back today. How did that happen? ⏸️ Kylea claims she does not have cravings or temptations. However, she is addicted to sweet. Her "coffee" is beige colored at best, and she needed it right away...
  1. Backup Birdie Part 1: Her airline approved pet travel accessory backpack is shown in the vehicle. "All my dog mom dreams are coming true today 💖 🐶"
  2. Backup Birdie Part 2: "My heart is so full!!! 💖 🐶 I got the cuddliest, cutest, sweetest girl. 😭 I cried when I met my puppy for the first time because I love her so much already!!"
⏸️ Kylea's followers immediately started asking to see pictures and were told they needed to wait until after Kylea's family met her first. HoWeVeR, some influencers (bestie Drue Basham, Drue's SIL Sierra, Brittany Bryant, etc.) got to see her first and comment from their influencer accounts about Birdie. I'm sorry, loyal top fans and followers, possible cross-engagement from "trusted" influencers is more important than respecting your loyalty. Welcome inside the mind of a 🐈 🐟 er. Always trying to boost engagement, the algorithm, and gain new followers...
  1. Taco Soup Recipe: 🚨 This sodium monstrosity has canned beans, jarred salsa, enchilada sauce, rotel, roasted corn, a ranch seasoning packet, a taco seasoning packet, fresh chicken, and water. 😲
  2. Backup Birdie Part 3: "Welcome home 🏠 to our forever girl 🎀 Birdie Mae 🐶 She's already following Joseph and I around and has brought us so much joy. 🌈 🎀"
⏸️ The puppy shown does not appear to be a Cavapoo, and Kylea refuses to answer follower questions about her breed. Remember, Birdie was not supposed to come home until May 20th, then May 19th.
To all individuals in the TTC Community, I know the 🌈 is a powerful symbol for you. I have experienced pregnancy loss and fertility care. My heart hurts for anyone triggered by the language Kylea uses and humanizing pets in reference to pregnancy loss. 🙏
  1. Backup Birdie Part 4: "The moment I held her, I just knew she was meant for me.🎀 🐶 She loves all of the cuddles which is good because I do too. 💖"
⏸️ Not one reference of her "sweet boy" Oliver or Alice. Where are the cats? BB is asleep on Kylea.
  1. Taco Soup Part 2: 🚨 Since it wasn't salty enough, why not put some chili & lime tortilla chips on top? Chef's 💋. Kylea held the bowl, showing her barefoot on the floor. I did NOT miss her feet content. 🤢
  2. Backup Birdie Part 5: "We already love her so much 🎀 💖" BB is asleep in a fuzzy blanket on her puppy bed.
  3. Backup Birdie Part 6: Within 30 minutes of this writer posting info in Reddit chat of how to file an animal complaint in Joplin, MO as a PSA (not a threat) encouraging Kylea & Joe to be crystal clear about Alice's whereabouts, a picture of Joe cuddling BB with Alice behind him on the couch is posted. "Joseph loves Birdie Mae too 💖 🐶 So far she loves to sleep 😴"
⏸️ 3 animals are now housed in a small apartment. Two cats with behavioral issues and a young puppy. Kylea can claim she will have no issues because "it will be fine," but she is ignorant, immature, and selfish. Wise followers will remove their rose-colored glasses and see the truth. There is a theory Alice was edited into the photo again...
  1. Taco Soup Part 3: 🚨 No more takeout for Joe! He gets to eat Taco Soup Rice Bowls for work lunches this week.
⏸️ On the recent McDonalds post, a smart follower asked what Joe eating McDonalds had to do with WW. Kylea replied it was a "balanced lifestyle." Remember, Kylea & Joe want you to believe Joe has not gained weight no matter what he eats, with photo evidence (even modified) proving differently. Kylea's chains were broken 07/05/21. No cravings, temptations, plateaus, weight gain...a perfect journey to this day (and forever). 😇 Please disregard her obvious eating disorder and mental illnesses. Seek medical care, Kylea Gomez. ☮️
  1. Backup Birdie Part 7: A 12-second video is shared of BB playing with a squeaky toy on the carpet.
⏸️ No Oliver, Grams, or Gibson content today. Kylea told her followers (in a comment) that Oliver had not met the puppy. It's good to see your "sweet boy" and subject of a ridiculous amount of monetized content is already booted engagement wise.
Final thoughts: Money reveals people's true colors. 👀 Buckle in for a nauseating amount of BB nontent.
Takeout: Crazy Llama takeout for 2: $16 est + tip;
All info from Reddit. ✌️

I am a 23 year old who does follow a bit of celebrity culture but I noticed that one of the celebrities boycotted for Palestine is Selena Gomez as she has a new film out. I haven’t thought about her in years and don’t follow her music or films, so I want to know exactly what it was she did to incur controversy.

1/8 posts "Joe" made about Kylea sending him McDonalds
📢 For our friends at Meta, that means that approx. 50% of the monetized posts had nothing to do with weight loss, which is the tagline and purpose of her page.
⚠️ Disordered Eating- Daily WW Points Used (Data compiled from monetized content):
2 WW Points: Plate of scrambled eggs + plate of fresh fruit + Peanut Butter Chocolate Muscle Milk in coffee.
8 WW Points: Double Shot Espresso over ice with almond milk, sugar-free vanilla, 1/2 of Peanut Butter Chocolate Muscle Milk shake, with cinnamon on top. Turkey, bacon, cheddar & egg white sandwich.
📢 For our friends at Meta, that means Kylea consumed 10 out of (up to) 30 daily WW points in maintenance mode= Disordered Eating. This is dangerous and potentially deadly messaging for those on a weight loss journey.

Comments: In my opinion, Kylea falsified the timeline of her arrival home. She frequently lies and has a history of mental breakdowns during travel. Let's see if you agree...
  1. Unknown Breakfast Location: Kylea does not even vaguely mention her sister's presence and shows a closely cropped picture of food and a beverage.
  2. "Joe" posted this, "My wife has been waiting to be a dog mom for a long time. I'm so excited for to be welcoming one into our home soon. 🐶 🏠"
*I kept the wording of the quote exactly as it appeared. "Joe" shared an old photo of Kylea holding RayRay's face (her mommma's Frenchie) and kissing him above his left eye.
⏸️ Remember, Kylea was traumatized from a dog biting her face as a child and told her followers she wanted a puppy from a breeder because of this event. This was an odd picture to share.
  1. Unknown Starbucks Location for Lunch: A tightly cropped image of an empty Starbucks paper bag, Iced Beverage, and Muscle Milk is shared. There is no mention of her sister, leading Reddit users to believe Kylea was in an airport, possibly alone. How is she consuming all these dairy products without issues this trip?
  2. God is Good: Kylea's sunburn disappeared from yesterday in this tightly cropped photo of her near a flowering plant. Her location is not disclosed. "I've just been walking around and appreciating all of the beauty of the world around me today. God is so good!!"
⏸️ This suspicious photo led Reddit users to believe Kylea was either already home, almost home, and/or there was a serious disagreement with her sister (they have a history of this happening). Why buy a Go City Pass and barely use it? Why go to CA to whale watch and not complete the task? Why so secretive this trip? Was she alone the majority of the time? The entire vibe has been off.
  1. "I think Oliver is missing his Mom 🐈‍⬛️ 🐾" An old 📸 of Kylea sitting on the floor, squeezing Oliver to her chest (he looks like he's trying to get away), is shared. This is the 1st mention of Oliver this trip. She normally posts more often about missing him while traveling...
  2. "Joe sent me a picture of the fur babies and they both look like they're ready for me to be home 💖" An (allegedly) old 📸 of Oliver and Alice on the back of the couch is shared.
Concern has been growing for weeks about the welfare of Alice. 🐈‍⬛️ I hope she is okay.
  1. Driving 6 Hours Home: "The last few days of adventure in California was fun but I'm so ready to get home to my hubs!! I had a long day of travel today. ✈️ Now for the 6 hour drive back home! 🚗 Ready to cuddle my cats 🐈‍⬛️ and introduce you to our new family member later this weekend! 🐶 🐾"
⏸️ Notice, Kylea never says "we" today. This fuels the speculation of a separate return trip home from her sister. I would hardly call scrambled eggs, fruit, salsa chicken salad, and coffee an adventure. Her photos (if they were even hers) showed empty tourist destinations. I learned nothing of note from her "California adventure." What an odd trip.
  1. "Joe" posted McDonalds: "I worked late last night and my wife still made sure that I got one of my favorite dinners. I love McDonald's cheeseburgers! 🍔 🍟"
I have shared resources this week on domestic violence. Not only is McDonalds triggering content for those on a weight loss journey, why is Joe Gomez unable to buy his own food? These photos (Joe holding the takeout bag) remind me of a young child posing with objects for praise.
📢 To our friends at Meta, "Joe" posting (under Kylea's account with her name) 25% of her content today is ridiculous. The page name is not "Kylea and Joe's Journey." This is not a lifestyle page. Kylea blatantly violates many monetization policies with her content. Please follow your policies and take action.
Final Questions: Do you believe Kylea traveled alone or with her sister? Do you think they were together the entire time? When do you think she arrived home? What did you learn about San Diego? How did she do as a travel blogger? 🤔
Takeout: Unknown breakfast restaurant for KG= $18 est + tip; *Possible breakfast for sister= $18 est + tip; Starbucks for KG (unknown location)= $15 est + tip, *Possible lunch for sister= $15 est + tip, Muscle Milk for KG= $3.50 est;
Shopping/Travel Expenses: Airport Parking (up to 50% off with prebook)= $16 est; Return Flight for KG on Unknown Carrier at unknown time (I do not believe she ever had a $45 round trip flight)= $82 + fees; *Possible Flight for Sister (same issue as above)= $82 est + fees; Mileage Dallas, TX to Joplin, MO= (350 est mi/33mpg) x $3.85 est= $40.83 est;
