does anyone have any information on or personal experience with the link between being in hospital and (for lack of a better word) eroticism? i wouldn't go so far as to call it a kink or fetishism; I was 3 and 4 years old when it happened. it didn't really make a big impression because I forgot about it after and only remembered it recently. of course, at the time I didn't perceive it as erotic and/or sexual because I was just a little kid, but when I think about it now there is something erotic and/or sexual about it (I don't know why or if this is relevant). to make a long story short, there was just something about laying in a hospital bed, being cared for, the cleanliness and sterility of everything (the surroundings, the doctors, nurses, the paraphernalia), but especially it was the medical paraphernalia, and more accurately, the sensations connected to them—little things. getting a strap around my arm (in preperation for injections), the syringes, the popping of plastic caps, the sensation of needles going into my body, all those little sensations, sounds, touch, others perhaps. the way I remember it or the way I feel about it now when I think back on it, is a certain pleasure or arousal. it's nothing weird or wild or overtly sexual, but it's also not nothing. it's closer to ASMR than it is to BDSM. to be clear, it's not so much the "being cared for" part of it as it is the specific sensations that I mentioned. I'm interested in this particular phenomenon and if anyone knows anything about this. I would love to read about this, better understand the psychology behind it. any help is much appreciated.

I want to express my admiration for your game, it truly is a wondrous creation. This message combines various observations, both positive and constructive:While some of my observations may not necessarily be issues, they represent aspects of gameplay that intrigue me or could benefit from further exploration.There may be some things mentioned multiple times I had trouble structuring it all.Biggest issues:Bot Sentry Farming Situation and queue system:
The bot sentry farming situation disrupts normal progress. Balancing deliberate farming with skill-dependent gameplay is crucial. There are level 30+ players running around who don't even know how to select a booster, it's creating such a level and resources to skill and game knowledge gap.
It clogs up quickplay, 9/10 mission will either be the bot sentry farming or people just in their ship and not preparing for or on a mission. Really need a matchmaking filter system.
Currency and xp obsoleteness: This goes hand in hand with the next-to-afk-farming but would've been an issue regardless, you get so many "R" and run out of things to buy with them so fast. They just need some other use instead of spilling over into the void
First you get every stratagem and reach the 50k cap then you're level 50 again xp going into the void. Now 2 of the main rewards are gone for any mission. Then you get everything medals can buy (I assume more warbonds will be realleased however) and then you get all the ship upgrades.You need so much of the hardest resource to get and then it's used for some of the most useless upgrades. This issue is further exacerbated by the fact you can't see how many samples you need for an upgrade you haven't unlocked and have to buy useless ones to even get the option to buy something useful. The bot farming made all this worse but it would've come to this anyways other than the imbalance of common samples to other samples.
Underpowered ship upgrades for difficult to gain material: Most ship upgrades are pretty much useless even more so when considering that you have to purchase them wih the most difficult to attain currency
Sample Interaction Bug: If you press sprint shortly after interacting with a sample, no one on your team can pick it up anymore. This issue has been the most disruptive for me, aside from getting stuck on corpses or between multiple enemies. I suspect the same bug might apply to other interaction-canceling actions like diving, although I haven’t thoroughly tested it. Unfortunately, these issues aren’t even visually attributed in the end screen or shortly after returning to the ship.
Story: I loved that cinematic but we really need more world/story flavor. The only relation we have to the civillians we fight for are annoying help them flee missions, they all look the same and don't say anything interesting if tthey even said anything I haven't noticed it. Feels awful for them to just come out of a civillian spawner in 3s like that, why not have them be trapped uunder some rubblle or something. The gamepllay is truly awesome but there is incredible potential for galaxy wide cooperation for the safety of the people from foreign threats. I love that goofy badass "YEARGH HELLDIVING" but we need more broad cooperation than liberation progress as a percentage, we know nothing of what happens to those pllanets afterwards. What happens to the resources and research we retrieve? There is huge potential here for a sense of galactic community fighting for the good of humanity. I believe adding an emotional aspect to spreading democracy can only add to the beauty of this game.

Visual examples can help players understand its benefits.Other player ragdolls:After punching a teammate, they often fly in a weird direction or don't move at all until they're teleported to where they end up at.Player squad options:You cannot lower the volume of 1 player it's allways at 10 you can't add them as a friend in the squad screen like in the recent players tab in which they do no show up as soon as you meet them or even after you leave for 14 hours thhus far or they're not sorted by recency and thus I cannot find them in the sea of names.Changiing keybinds: You can't change many keybinds like switching your shoulder look over viewReload Assist Mode: Currently, you can’t enter reload assist mode until they’ve emptied their weapon. You just steal their weapon, while stealing a teammate's weapon can be amusing, it becomes less enjoyable when you’re unable to reload assist.Unusual Holes: Occasionally, holes can become so deep that you can see beneath indestructible objects. These glimpses reveal the invisible interior. The holes also sometimes become weirdly steep and like they are made of only a few polygons and the the texture is stretched across it.Voice Chat Volume: Figuring out how to adjust voice chat volume for individual players is either impossible or unintuitive. I’ve struggled with this myself.Tank vs. Bile Titans: In my experience, tanks are far less menacing than bile titans, creating an imbalance of difficulty between the two factions.Extraction Ship Radio: It would be fantastic to have a radio-like function on the extraction ship. Imagine being able to blast music of your choice similar to the flag-raising missions! Perhaps a tweak in its effectiveness would be beneficial.
Pinging mines and holes does not have a special icon or lock on like many other things making pinging them only more likely to walk into them
Character Behavior: After a dive, characters occasionally remain prone due to minor obstacles like rocks or corpses. A smoother transition to standing would enhance gameplay.Stim Usage: Stim usage sometimes gets canceled when taking damage or due to brief controlled falling state. Ensuring consistent behavior would improve player experience.It’s frustrating not to be able to use stim at full HP in anticipation of upcoming challenges and also when hp is red but full.
Spawning: Occasionally, players spawn directly on the ground at the start of missions, rather than being able to control their drop pod.Accidental Climbing: Sprinting near objects sometimes leads to accidental climbing. Streamlining this mechanic would improve movement precision.

2024.01.18 04:37 lobobat L2-4 laminectomy decompression surgery. Any advice or help for recovery please

I'm a 44 year old male and I suffer from congenital spinal stenosis, inflammatory arthritis as an auto immune disorder, bulging discs, herniated discs, and degenerative disc disease among other things. I have been living in chronic pain for almost 12 years. In November after failed epidural injections, I experienced excruciating pain down the front of my right leg. No medicine relieved it and I ended up in the emergency room twice within a week because it was so bad. My orthopedic surgeon ordered an emergency MRI and decided I had compressed nerves at the base of my spine and scheduled me for a Laminectomy.
I had this surgery done to decompress my femoral nerves on Mon Jan 15th. I had some bleeding issues during and after surgery but was sent home after a pump was removed from my body. The day of surgery I didn't feel very bad. I was sore, but the numbness and pain I had in my legs was gone. I went to sleep and when I woke up, I was in the worst pain of my life. I could not move and every time I tried, it felt like the muscles were being ripped off my bones on the backs of my thighs and in the ''saddle'' region of my body. I'm no stranger to pain and have a very high tolerance for pain, but this shit was and is still horrific. It's like lighting running through my body with movement and I freeze and fall or freeze and just scream uncontrollably.
I am opioid tolerant, and taking two 15mg roxicodone every 6 hours 3 times per day, 4000 mg of acetaminophen per day, two 800 mg Ibuprofen per day, three 500mg methocarbamol per day, two 200mg hydroxychloroquine per day, and 10 mg of amitriptyline per day. About an hour after taking all my pain medicines I get about 50% relief, but 50% relief of unbearable doesn't amount to much and the pain is still horrific. I am using a heating pad to sit on and an ice pack at the small of my back below the incision site. I have also tried an electric massager on backs of my thighs.
This is only the 3rd day, but now I'm afraid to sleep and don't seem to be improving at all. I can barely move, I cannot bend or turn my head or twist my body, I mean, it's unreal. Is there anyone out there that has had this procedure??? I'm wondering if this is normal and will go away or if the surgeon made a mistake and hurt my sciatic nerves while decompressing the femoral nerves?? Any advice, thoughts, or help would be greatly appreciated, because my doctors office only said go to the emergency room. Thank you in advance if anyone has any thoughts or information.

I was diagnosed with T1 in 2011 and in December it was my daughter's turn apparently. She's only 3 years old so it's different struggles compared to what I had since I was an adult. But she is a being a superhero when it comes to taking her injections and proudly shows people her libre3 and teases me about still using the "big once" (libre2).
But for the first time in my life I'm happy about having diabetes, at least I was well prepered for what is happening and came into it with some knowledge and experience. When I got diagnosed I didn't even know there was different kinds of diabetes.

An Argument for the Adoption of Volumetric Dosing for the Management of Opioid Dependency for Fentanyl Users
“Three million US citizens and 16 million individuals worldwide have had or currently suffer from opioid use disorder (OUD). More than 500,000 in the United States are dependent on heroin.”(3) Of these users the vast overwhelming majority are users of Fentanyl, A highly potent analog of Morphine with a potency 100 times greater than the alkaloid it is derived from. Fentanyl is a highly potent full opioid agonist with a high risk of rapidly causing respiratory depression leading to death even when administered by doctors in operating rooms. Fentanyl is rather unique as a recreational drug; when in a freebase salt a therapeutic dose of the drug is virtually imperceptible to the human eye. The ubiquity of Fentanyl amongst opioid users has created a precarious balancing act where users are simultaneously chasing their first high while simultaneously rolling the dice on the manufacturers quality control. The margin of error for Fentanyl manufacturers is slim, something as insignificant as a drop of water the size of a pinhead could lead to clumping resulting in a user receiving a lethal dose. However, contrary to the orthodoxy, Fentanyl is a low risk narcotic. Like all Morphine derivatives, Fentanyl is water soluble and can be processed with tap water to turn a 5 dollar kill pill into a 2 month supply.
It is commonly understood that Fentanyl is a highly toxic substance that will kill you if you so much as brush your finger over a pill, this could not be further from the truth. Contrary to the stark images of law enforcement officers overdosing from seeing a small volume of powder Fentanyl is capable of killing in 2 ways. The first and by far the scariest is wooden chest syndrome(WCS) , a syndrome unique to high potency morphine analogs(HPMA). WCS is thought to occur most commonly when patients with undisclosed or unknown lung conditions are administered high doses of HPMAs as analgesics for surgeries. The syndrome is thought to trigger rapid paralysis of the skeletal muscles involved in respiration and kills within minutes of administration of the narcotic. This stands as a dark spot on a medication which is otherwise a wonder-drug in the class of analgesics as WCS sometimes cannot be reversed even when patients are under ventilators. The other way HPMAs is far more conventional for its class, and results from the respiratory depressant properties of the mu2 and kappa opioid receptors tipping the scales of the body and causing the user to stop breathing resulting in cardiac and neural tissue rapidly dying without external intervention. Morphine analogs are rapidly traded in the body between the body fat and the blood stream, each cycle resulting in more of the medication binding to receptors in the brain and escalating the effects of the drug. When an overdose occurs this exchange climaxes with the cessation of breathing and typically takes between 30 seconds and 5 minutes from the drug reaching the bloodstream. Prior to this however the user will feel increasingly sedated and euphoric in waves as they will lose their ability to coherently communicate and stand. Prior to the overdose the user will become unconscious and their hands and face will appear purple as blood stops being able to properly provide oxygen and their breathing will slow until breathing stops. This process has never been observed in alleged instances of first responders experiencing an overdose. Typically first responders when exposed will notice they have made contact with a suspected HPMA which will then trigger hyperventilation, a release of adrenaline and in some cases may cause the first responder to fall over however they typically retain both consciousness and lucidity and are able to somewhat clearly communicate, something someone experiencing an opioid overdose would not be able to do. These symptoms appear to be a form of hysteria causing a panic attack due to misinformation surrounding HPMA and do not reflect a genuine risk to first responders.
According to the orthodoxy these “overdoses” are triggered by skin contact or by breathing in Fentanyl freebase however when analyzing the properties of Fentanyl we can see that this is impossible. Fentanyl has extremely poor bioavailability on the dermis and even submerging your hands into a bucket of Fentanyl freebase would be unlikely to provide much more than a mild feeling of euphoria and mild brain fog. The same is true of inhaling the substance. While it is true that Fentanyl is readily absorbed when insufflated, sublimated and inhaled or administered buccally or sublingually these are only viable under certain circumstances. When Fentanyl freebase is sublimated the bonds that keep the substance as a shelf stable salt are broken increasing its bioavailability and allowing the user to achieve their desired effect. It is actually extremely difficult to overdose when sublimating HPMAs as users typically pass out and automatically exhale the remainder of their dose long before they achieve a lethal dose. Insufflation tells a similar story as the capillaries of the nose can only absorb so much at once before the rest simply binds to mucin and is removed from the nasal cavity losing a significant degree of its bioavailability in the process. It is therefore ridiculous to suggest that these routes of administration are capable of administering a lethal dose through passive inhalation excluding a freak scenario resulting in an extremely high aerial PPM of Fentanyl freebase which the first responder spent an extended period of time breathing in. Additionally for enough Fentanyl to enter the body to trigger an overdose the first responder would have to ignore the rapidly escalating feelings of sedation and euphoria to such a degree that they lose consciousness for the possibility of an overdose to begin to become a factor.
In order to understand why Fentanyl carries such extreme overdose risks an understanding of its chemical properties is necessary. When administered intravenously Fentanyl can achieve a therapeutic effect for patients with severe acute and chronic pain with a dose of between .00006 and .00012 grams per hour, a dose imperceptible to the human eye. The reason why hospitals are able to safely administer these medications for patients without preexisting conditions is primarily due to 1 reason, Volumetric Dosing. Pharmaceutical companies when manufacturing the most common versions of Fentanyl precise mixing equipment are used to process known quantities of Fentanyl, solvents, and fillers. This is done in order to take advantage of the chemical properties of the active ingredient to produce a homogenous consistent medication containing a known therapeutic dose in a method that can be readily absorbed by the human body. One property commonly taken advantage of when working with morphine derivatives is the solubility of these molecules in water. .2 grams of Fentanyl can be dissolved into 1 ounce of water at room temperature and with a therapeutic dose for severe pain being as low as .00006 this means that one can produce over 300 doses from just 1 ounce of water and .2 grams of Fentanyl. This revolutionary development in the world of surgical analgesic drugs led to sweeping changes in the treatment of pain as this has allowed us to create substantially cheaper and more effective versions of virtually every opioid used for the treatment of severe pain. Fentanyl is now available in injections, pills, buccal patches and even subdermal patches which allows us to safely attach a very large dose of fentanyl to a patient with severe pain that there body will very slowly absorb over up to 18 hours, a major innovation for the treatment of pain in cancer patients.
However Fentanyl would not remain a wonder drug for long. As an analog of the alkaloid Morphine, Fentanyl was extremely easy to synthesize and even worse, both Fentanyl and its substantially more potent veterinary medicine sibling Carfentanyl with a potency 1000 times that of morphine were both extremely accessible and cheap. This led to a mass scale proliferation of Fentanyl throughout America as it was dramatically easier to smuggle over its substantially heavier predecessor Heroin, a metabolite of Morphine derived from processing opium poppies. This led to the virtual extinction of all street opioids that were not either pharmaceuticals or HPMAs. This would turn lethal as in order to continue to appeal to existing demand from American consumers recreational drug manufacturers would begin processing Fentanyl freebase into simulations of Heroin and pharmaceuticals, typically the “Perc 30”. The Perc 30 is not a real pharmaceutical but is rather an invention by recreational drug manufacturers and popular culture. Percocet which is a blend of Acetaminophen(Tylenol) and oxycodone, a synthetic codeine derivative was combined by the cultural zeitgeist with the appearance of a 30mg Roxicodone(Oxycodone Hydrochloride) to effectively create an imaginary brand name to market Fentanyl with. The Perc 30 has achieved widespread brand recognition exceeding that of drugs like Nyquil and Aspirin which has led to many consumers placing their faith in a product which can be manufactured in a lab as small as a backpack using nothing more than Fentanyl freebase, baby laxatives, and a pill press which can be purchased on alibaba for less than 5 dollars a unit and are capable of producing between 50 and 1000 Perc 30s at the same time. This moment sparked a meltdown in the American recreational opioid market as this marketing breakthrough lead to rapid development which has lead to tens of thousands of labs manufacturing clones of everything from China White(unprocessed opium poppy Morphine), Heroin, Codeine Cough Syrup, to even clones of Morphine Sulphate, an antique injectable form of Morphine. This has led to widespread disparities in quality control between labs especially when humidity is involved, as Morphine derivatives are typically water soluble. This means that a drop of water the size of a pinhead could result in widely variable concentrations of active ingredients in the finished product even when a lab adequately mixes and aerates the Fentanyl with the filler. This has led to alarming variations in doses found in the product consumers purchase.
The solution to the inadequacy of American recreational drug manufacturers is simple. An end user can take purchased narcotics and mix them with a known volume of water in order to produce homogenous divisible units of the suspected HPMA. Morphine and Codeine(which is metabolized into Morphine by the liver) derivatives are effectively universally water soluble which means that if you purchased genuine opioids will be dissolved by1 liter of water. Some fillers and cutting agents, primarily research chemicals, are not soluble in water and as a result will settle out of the solution and can be strained out. This allows users to utilize volumetric dosing to logarithmically increase doses of water based on volume of water in order to calculate how many effective doses they purchased. This principle can also be applied to users who insufflate opioids as well. One could purchase the ingredients at any pharmacy in America for less than 5 dollars and consist of nasal rinse salt sterile water and a nasal spray bottle. Additionally users who smoke opiates can take propylene glycol, a common ingredient in vape juice and processed foods and dissolve the HPMA into it to produce a product which can be vaped, taking advantage of the fact that your body will typically not allow you to smoke enough Fentanyl to overdose. This property could even theoretically be applied to IV drug users. The only hardware that would be required would be some form of heat source capable of boiling a small pot of water. A user could then purchase several 5 ML vials and create a premixed distilled water and HPMA slurry and then boil it until sterile and then use a pair of needle nose pliers to secure the cap and membrane to the vial in order to produce a large volume of ready to go sterile known quantities of Fentanyl. It is for these reasons that I believe that Fentanyl is not a high risk drug but is rather a highly misunderstood pharmaceutical which has unfortunately become highly successful in markets lacking research, efficacy studies and basic quality control.
Many would argue against the proliferation of this mechanism of administration and these arguments, while generally irrational, are worth considering. The elephant in the room is of course the classic neoliberal Argument. drug users, they contend, should not use illicit substances and should not take medication in any way except how directed by their doctors. While this might imitate an argument, this perspective begs the question and lacks the ability to provide genuine solutions to the opioid epidemic on a fundamental level. Other critics may point to the US justice system and how prosecutions for possession exclusively hinge on the combined weight of the substance and its packaging. This legal injustice is certainly a spit in the face to the 73,654 Americans killed by opioids in 2022 but I believe that this is less of an argument and more of a challenge. We have seen the damage that HPMAs are capable of, over a quarter of a million Americans have died since 2018 and the US government seems to refuse to provide real solutions. As wonderful as opioid replacements are they are not a solution to the problem and we need to see wide scale proliferation of harm reduction programs, not just of their number but also in scale and scope. Decriminalization of possession of narcotics is the bare minimum that the administration can do and yet we seem to be as far away from that dream as we have ever been.
Unfortunately, regardless of how disastrous the opioid epidemic has been for the perception of American pharmaceutical companies, the people who actually pay the price for the failures of the state and of these companies is the American proletariat. Statistically 1 in every 100 Americans has been addicted to opioids at some point in their life and these people are our loved ones. Your cousin who has been self supporting herself since she was 18 uses them every night because the sensation of an opioid is the best feeling in the world. Your friend's dad might take grandpa's old arsenal of belbuca to ease the pain of losing his father to cancer. Your favorite coworker might crush up street Perc 30s when he gets home to party with his friends. All of these people are vulnerable to HPMAs and like most Americans all of these people are less than 6 months away from becoming homeless. Opioids can rapidly become the only thing in someone's life worth living for and it is hard to fault someone for falling off the roller coaster of capitalism. Many Americans are under the delusion that they are somehow better or different then the neurodivergent addict sleeping on a denver sidewalk but they fail to understand how close they are to becoming them. The fact that we allow this to happen in the wealthiest country in human history is shameful. Wide Scale social reform needs to take place to accommodate these highly vulnerable members of society. The best place to start is to give addicts a space where they can safely without fear of persecution use volumetric dosing to take a non lethal sterile dose of the drug they are physically dependent on where they can sleep soundly, knowing that both them and their possessions are safe. It is for these reasons that I believe that volumetric dosing makes Fentanyl a cost effective, widely available and very safe full opioid agonist that has a valuable place in the treatment of opioid dependency.

BUG: Hot lava not recognizing M/KB , controller controls both instances.
EXPECTED: as per the handler instructions, the simulated mouse is supposed to show when I click in each game instance, it shows for a brief moment in the first instance, then it disappears. at that point I lose control of that instance, the second one launches, and I can't control either of them with KB/M. and the controller just controls both simultaneously.
CAUSE: I know the Unity gamepad interface is bad, but i really have no idea why is that happening
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
  1. Open nucleus coop, align KB/M to instance 1 and game pad to instance 2 (or the other way around, doesn't matter which)
  2. Launch the game
  3. the above mentioned behavior starts happening.

We launched our first Amazon product yesterday and wanted to share my experience / learnings thus far.
Preperation: Unlike most sellers, my partner and I decided to make a unique product Vs. buying an existing product from Alibaba. Immediately we went ahead and trademarked our name so we could have brand registry on Amazon in order to be a branded product. (Cost: $400 USD) We spent about 4-6 months finding a good contractor and perfecting a 3d CAD file for our supplier to use in order to make an injection mold. (Cost for 3d printing and final file: $1k USD, Cost for Injection Mold: $3.4K USD) The first mold had issues and it took us another month for 1 revision and a great final product. Then we placed an order for 3,000 units which was the minimum order quantity. We put 30% down, 70% upon arrival. (Cost: $2.5k USD) 25 days for manufacturing.
The Launch: We shipped the goods straight from China to a FBA warehouse. We air freighted the goods because we wanted to launch before Q4. (Air Freight Cost: $6 USD / Unit) All in landed cost is ($10 USD / Unit) Day 1 we got friends and family to purchase in order to gain rank on Amazon. We also spent $500 USD on Amazon PPC Ads to convert on key search terms & competitors so we show up organically on those terms over time. We did $900 in sales the first day and lost about $200 due to advertising costs, coupons, COGS, and FBA fees which includes shipping and the referral fee Amazon takes. We continued to lose about $200 a day for 4 days and have sales range from $700-$1.3K a day. By day 5 we were ranking 1-3 in organic search for all relevant search terms to our product and had our first 2 reviews. Day 6 we pulled back on advertising and had our first break even day. Day 7 we made $200 on $1.5K in sales.
Moving Forward: The plan moving forward is to only spend on ads when it strategically makes sense. While it appears at first glance like we spent months just to hemorrhage cash, the reality is we should be in a place now to make our initial investment back over 45-60 days. To date, including the up front investment in an injection mold and design we have lost $5.65K
Analysis: While I cannot be certain what the future holds for this business, we believe it will be successful. Launching a product is not easy or cheap. 8 months from idea to launch is too long as many competitors popped up making this a more competitive category than originally anticipated. My takeaways are: 1) Make unique products that others cannot just buy from Alibaba. 2) Do not be short sighted. Launching a product on Amazon is expensive when done right. 3) Make a plan and stick to it.

Hey guys, a little background story about me before I get to my questions.
I mainly used my PC for gaming, when I was younger I cracked games because I couldn't afford them and troubleshoot my own PC if I ever had a virus or ransomware on my PC.
I am very persistent on this because I sat 5, 8, 10 hours to fix it and it paid off because I fixed my PC every time. But that was always with the help of Google, it's not like knowing exactly what to do.
I then started a game server here and there and hosted my own simple website using xampp which was a pain in the ass and overall I just tried everything that catched my interest.
I also once recovered data from a USB device which took about 5 hours but it was the first time I've done this and to my surprise I managed to recover the corrupted data. It wasn't perfect but I made everyone's day lol.
I've never worked in IT but I want to make a career change because I need a job that interests me, is fun and that forces me to learn new things.
I started HTB Academy a month ago and went through almost all Tier0 modules. My initial goal was to learn everything up to Tier2 and then start with the Tj Null list as a preperation for the OSCP.
Just yesterday I finished my first own SQL Injection Box. It was very easy but I'm still a little proud.
The knowledge I've learned is slowly making a connection in my brain, but I still feel like I'm missing out on a lot of knowledge and my fear is not taking the optimal path to learning.
Like people telling me to learn networking and get to know Linux and Windows inside and out
Learn Python not just to read code, but to write your own scripts. learn bash Learn SQL.
And in all of this, I fear that if I just continue with HTB, my foundation will be broken. but on the other hand, if I focus on the above topics, it will be a few months before I can focus on hacking again.
I hope you can give me some recommendations. I would also love some stories from people with the same background.
All in all I can say that I'm really glad that sites like HTB and THM exist because without them I wouldn't know where to start.

Sorry for the long absence, fell into a coma while on the job and couldn't write. Maybe I'll tell you all about it another day.
I'm a highway driver, and I have strict guideline to follow for the sake of my survival on the road. If you're new, I'd recommend reading the previous part.
"Holy shit!" I scream, swerving to the left to avoid the figure. In my attempt to avoid what was possibly a mere ghost, I ended up crashing straight into the concrete barrier and was smacked in the face by the hardened airbag which had never seen use until now. At this point, I was knocked out for a good minute or two.
I woke up in a daze, inhaling the smoke rising from the busted engine. Cutting the airbag which had been obscuring my vision with a shard of plexiglass, I realised there were figures now surrounding the vehicle. Upon further inspection, they resembled members of my family, my friends, and my... dog? My brain still foggy, I wasn't able to tell if it was a dream or not. Hell, at this point, I probably forgot I was even a highway driver. I urgently tried getting out of the car to no avail, since the doors wouldn't budge.
My crush from high school walked out from the fog created by the smoke of the patrol car, now moving towards me. I was flabbergasted. She then lunged at the car, emitting a screech akin to a fox. That alone snapped me back to reality, and I now realised how truly f&&ked I was. With the figures now completely surrounding the vehicle scraping the body of the car with their nails, I radioed management.
"Frogsman-1 to CC, I'm at 66 kilometres and I'm surrounded-" I stuttered near asphyxiation, until I was interrupted by the near instatenous reply. "Understood, Ashura team's on their way," the voice across said, clearly aware of my predicament.
Aside from the screeching, I could hear a growing whirring of a helicopter. Out of a sudden, the thunderous roar of heavy gunshots rang out and the figures which once surrounded the car turned into a red paintjob on the vehicle. I could remember wetting my pants in absolute shock from the recent sights. From the busted sunroof, I saw three men repelling from the hovering helicopter clad in black armour, 'HSA Extermination Division' printed on the back of their vests. Seeing the wounds on my glass-filled arms, they got me out of the vehicle and repelled back into the helicopter. Looking down from above, I caught a glimpse of another patrol vehicle coming out from the concrete wall beside the highway, now passing by the flaming car. Unbeknowst to me, that was the replacement officer finishing my shift.
The moment they laid me down on the floor of the helicopter, one of the men tended to my wounds. At this point, I could barely feel a thing with the amount of adrenaline flowing through my veins. Looking at the badge on the guys arm, it read "Ashura's Legion", with the phrase 'Strike like Demons, with God's Will' encircling the title. I couldn't care less, really, considering I was bleeding out. What happened after was hazy. Straight after the medic injected me with a needle, I knocked out like a baby.
Now awake on a hospital bed, one of the Ashura operatives along with whom I presume was a doctor was in the room with me. The doctor immediately went outside once he saw me sitting up and the other guy spoke to me. I'm gonna spare the details, but he was a member of the HSA Extermination Divison assigned to Hawk-2, codenamed Ashura's Legion. My situation was dire enough that they had to send in what is presumably the special forces to save my sorry ass and send in a replacement driver. As it turns out, due to my condition where I was incapable of delving further into the highway, another driver was needed to ensure my shift was finished. If it wasn't, all hell would've broke loose. And knowing the hellish occurrences here, I sure as hell didn't want that to happen.
More info on the Hawk-2 squad: "HSA Extermination Division Hawk-2, designated "Ashura's Legion" Motto:"Strike like Demons, with God's Will" Manpower:2 teams, 6 members each Additional info: Formed after the complete annihilation of Hawk-1..." And that's all I can share.
After staying in the ward for a few days(my wounds weren't so bad), I immediately went back on shift. I was lucky enough not to undergo an exorcism- my predecessors weren't so lucky. During my stay, I heard stories from the other injured drivers in the ward who were brought in from other highways across the country(the agency has a central medical centre), one of them having served for about a decade. His name was Teo, probably the most experienced in the room.
There's a well-known story spread among the HSA drivers and subsequently the rookies. Hell, it's probably not a story anymore but rather a true event considering how things are here. A few years ago, one of Teo's colleagues, a newbie to the job, had a malicious encounter with the voices one would encounter near the start of their shift. These voices, though friendly at first glance, were selective in who they wanted to interact with. The guy was no exception. Though, this time, they had ill intentions. The guy was repeatedly mocked and verbally harassed by them through the course of an entire kilometer and that alone was capable of breaking him. The devilish laughters that erupted within the confines of the car would constantly replay in his head even to this very day. Nobody knows why, but these supernatural entities seem to leave their prints on anyone who dare tread the roads, their effects lingering on for god knows how long. HQ immediately knew something was off with him when he wouldn't respond to any of their callouts, so they forced him out of his shift and sent in a replacement soon after. The details were a bit barren, but it's stated that he had to be exorcised by priests of the three major religions hired by the HSA.
The entire time I was hearing whatever came out of Teo's mouth, I believed every single bit of it with no hesitation. Teo had his own personal, crazy experience- one that landed him in the ward at that point of time. Turns out, he was from the branch in charge of surveying the Golden Gate bridge, not necessarily a highway, but in this jobscope, anything's possible. Though his shift was miles shorter in comparison to mine, the amount of anomalous events were significantly larger than what I would encounter. Imagine this- I had to get through 100km facing about... 50? events throughout the shift. Teo on the other hand had to get travel about 3km while facing about a thousand events happening simultaneously. His shifts happen irregularly, about once a year but when they come, the HSA make immense preperations to ensure whatever they face won't get any driver killed within a few minutes. I heard the patrol vehicle he's equipped with is a high-tech APC, carrying a full team of HSA Extermination Division agents and fully-loaded heavy armament, each manned by an agent. Teo was technically just a driver for them.
His shift which happened a week ago costed him his left leg and left him partially deaf in his left ear. Good thing I was on his right side in the ward, if not I would've gone crazy. Treading through the bridge, he had to fend off swarms of entities which, as he said in his own words,"came from the pits of hell". Teo's APC, almost mangled and a literal hole on the right side of the driver's cockpit, managed to get through most of the entities. However, there's always a surprise on the job and one of them was a meet and greet with Death himself, just barely missing what would've been a fatal job injury. A titan-sized entity came out from the ocean and stomped its foot on the APC, though Teo was swift enough to evade it. Unfortunately a section of the APC was hit, the back of it smashed, compacted into a rubbish cube. The personnel at the back were crushed into a pile of red, oozy sludge that made Teo sick to his very core. Out of the seven in the team, only two of them made it out alive, Teo being one of them obviously. They somehow skimmed their way to the end and finished the shift, no idea how they didn't get slained by the shitload of entities.
The rest of the stories seemed boring to me, so I just slept through most of them. Heard him mention about the janitor, but I was dozing off by then. Once I was fully healed up, I instantly got back on shift. As dire as my situation was, money was the only thing I could chase. Heading into my second shift, maybe I'll finally conquer my fears of this damn highway, seeing what lied ahead the 75+km mark which I never got to see. Until next time.

What differences do you guys notice in regards to most commonly prescribed, and rarely prescribed opiates/opioids Across the boarder..
The biggest and most annoying concern I have, is that after Purdue was forced to make tamper resistant oxycontin here in Canada; Health Canada lifted their patent like less than a year later so NOW we have many brands making oxy CR and S.R without being held to the same standards as Purdue had to in terms of tamper resistance.
A patient told me you chuck it in your mouth, wipe it off and you can crush it for injection, snorting, smoking or just that instant release high orally.
We prescribe hydromorh Contin VERY often, which is made by Purdue and one generic. You simply crush the beads and add water... Palladone is the U.S equivalent.. ours come in the following sizes: 3mg,4.5mg,6mg,9mg,12mg,18mg,24mg and 30mg They're always co prescribed with dilahdid 1mg,2mg 4mg or 8mg instant release.
We only have hydrocodone in syrup form in Canada and it's so rarely prescribed at my pharmacy.. I think Canada did have 5mg Hydocan tablets a while ago but we don't carry them. I don't think Zohydro ever made it to market here either but I may be wrong .. I just know we don't carry it. We have Hydocan liquid and a few other hydrocodone bitartrate syrups and liquids for cough syurps.. I honestly rarely see it used. Maybe a few times year? We hardly carry any in our safe we use liquid codeine far more often for cough suppressants.
Plus you can buy cough syrup containing low dose codeine without a prescription in canada..obviously it can't be the only active ingredient, Tylenol 1s with 8mgs of codeine a talet dont require an Rx... simply sign a sheet and show i.d as one person can only buy so much. Opana(oxymorphone) isn't available here in any form... We still have Talwin oddly enough.. there's a few older woman and one older man that get 50mg Talwin NX tablets.. We also have tapentadol, normethadone and other rarely prescribed opioids too. Demerol is hardly EVER used but I think I saw it available to order from our supplier sheet. I think I saw Darvocet on there too.
We don't have 30mg Roxicodone here. Although we do have other strengths of instant release oxycodone as the only main ingredient.. we do have percocet too.. we usually only offer 5mg tablets of that although I'm aware we can get 10mg.
Right now in my area, Hydromorphone is the most sought after and most commonly prescribed strong opiate. Beats oxycodone sales hands down.
We have Tramadol although it's not widely used. Considering you can order it online dirt cheap.
We use Kadian and Eskon a lot lately and gave seen an uptake in prescriptions of it recently.
Any trends in your guys areas you've seen or any odd medications you run into in regards to opiates and opiods? I heard you're still able to get opium toniture in the u.s but I think someone was messing with me I've never looked it up.

2022.05.12 01:47 Regenine Colonoscopy experience (MoviPrep, 2L total) - 23 year old male, referred for Crohn's suspicion

TL;DR: Whole process was much easier than I thought it would be. The prep itself wasn't horrible at all - the MoviPrep didn't taste that bad, and I didn't have to immediately go when I felt an urge, could hold it for a few minutes. This is in contrast to many negative experiences I've read online.
For the past 2 years, I have had on-and-off IBD-like symptoms, mainly diarrhea, left-sided stomach aches, and sulfur flatulence. At some periods, I also had blood in my stool.
I went to a GI doctor and she referred me to a colonoscopy suspecting possible Crohn's due to a family member having it, and the symptoms I described being similar. I was initially prescribed a magnesium-based laxative, but later asked to switch to a PEG-based one (MoviPrep) due to getting headaches, drowsiness and muscle cramps from Magnesium Citrate in the past (supplemental use, not bowel preperation).
I had to stop eating entirely 29 hours prior to the procedure, with little to no fiber in the 2 days prior too. At 8 PM, I took my first dose - two sachets mixed with 1 liter of water, 250mL every 15 minutes - followed by 500mL of water afterwards. I've read horror stories about it here, that it tastes absolutely vile and makes people nauseous and vomit - it wasn't the case for me at all. It tasted salty followed by a sweet lemon taste, not too bad at all.
The MoviPrep kicked in around 45-50 minutes after finishing the last dose, and I was surprised at how powerful it was - the descriptions of "peeing out my butt" here weren't exaggerated at all - it gradually turned into just yellow water. I just sat on the toilet for 1 hour at a time with 10-15 minute breaks in between.
The toilet stuff went smoothly - unfortunately, I also had a viral infection (COVID negative) that made this much more difficult, since I had to tolerate this while having muscle pains and fatigue, while sneezing nearly incessantly with a fever.
This morning, at 9 AM, I drank my second liter of MoviPrep, again followed by 500mL of water. I felt extremely thirsty a few hours later, so I kept drinking and drinking, worried that I'd drink myself into hyponatremia - but I was eventually fine.
The colonoscopy itself was the easy part - lost consciousness within 15 seconds of the Midazolam & Propofol injection. The colonoscopy results were unremarkable, normal - there were no signs of IBD at all. My GI doctor, while handing me the results, was in a hurry home and said it could be IBS, and to come see her again if my symptoms persist.
My symptoms have not been significant lately, so it's possible I have an actual form of IBD that wasn't detected because I'm possibly in a "remission" now. Regardless, I am happy with the normal result, and will see my GI doctor again if symptoms flare up.

Most people now think that Naruto and Sasuke have been weakened in preperation for sidelining them forever or that even Sasuke might die soon.
However, I believe that they were temporarily weakeaned to allow time for the new gen to catch up to them, which would probably happen by the beginning of the timeskip or even by the middle.
At that point Naruto and Sasuke would truly be dead weights if they stayed at their current levels. So I think the writers might start setting up tge return of their powers just before the timeskip happens.
My personal theory is that Sasuke would probably go to Orochimaru's lab (after the aftermath of the Code arc)to inject him with drugs and Hashirama cells to speed up the awakening of the rinnegan in his second eye which would take almost 3 years. That way he would probably be almost back to full power by the start of the timeskip or at least the middle of the timeskip by which time the new Team 7 would have become beasts with their current pace. So that Sasuke wouldnt become totally irrelevant.
At the same time, they might introduce something in the story to help revive kurama. Maybe through Naruto extracting chakra from that juvenile 10 tails (at some point when they find or face him) and stating that Kurama's DNA was embedded in Naruto's body. So that would trigger Kurama's manifestation but the process would take some time like 6 months (after the timeskip happens) for kurama to be fully restored.
In conclusion I still believe that Naruto and Sasuke would have at least another moment or two to shine in the timeskip but this time instead of protecting the new gen, they would be fighting alongside each other (similar to Kakashi and Gai's roles in the war).

As enemies, they are tireless, quite often fearless and extremely hard to kill, while oftentimes being able to do the same damage the player can do. With functional dodge that can sometimes exceed that of wasps, arms that can withstand mathematically incorrect amounts of damage and no stamina drawbacks they can and often will beat your guy in melee, if they don't just shoot you first.
As allies and especially as neutrals they are... maladjusted lemmings. Opening doors that were SUPPOSED to keep them safe ESPECIALLY while driving, trying to randomly smash corpses and being unable to fire a gun to save their life except when they are about to "accidentally" end yours the default NPC survivor is a nightmare to handle.
This guide aims to make them vaguely usable for particularly uncompassionate individuals.

Step 0:Preperation.

Pick psychopath or cannibal at the start. Killing an invalid should not make you into an invalid for an entire day and a half, and believe me it opens up quite a few options when neutral survivors do some really dumb things.
In addition, mods like magiclysm and BL9 offer healing options that can help keep friendly NPCs alive even as they do something incredibly stupid.
Now that is out of the way on to the actual steps.

Step 1: Encountering NPCs, aka Am I pReTtY eNouGH.

Some people have generally terrible experiences with hostile NPCs. Either they get pretty much shot on sight, get robbed, or have to pass a very difficult check to have the NPC not run or you guessed it shoot at you.
I'll have Greg sum it up for you. "Greg think you weak, Greg Think you Stupid, Greg think you ugly."
When an NPC tries to rob you, it is because you look weak which can be solved by carrying big guns(weapons), and having big arms(strength). These NPCs tend to be mostly hostile however but can be intimidated into running away with a high enough threat score.
As for those who steal your stuff and try to escape with it after saying "hi" shoot them. You did pick psychopath right :D. Cannibals can also kill with reduced penalty and make use of the extra loot.
As for the rest they can become your friend, but only if you can convince them you mean no harm.
This is dependent on 2 things. How sexy you are and how smart/socially skilled you are.
Unfortunately, they don't find cat ears attractive, or tails or any part from creature that is'nt a flower, butterfly wing or "baseline good looks" for that matter. In fact the only mutant lines that make it easier to convince others are alpha and elf-a. The others can pretty much expect this to happen, especially when fully mutated. (Credit to TheFanciestUsername16 and Vyralas for their posts).
Now that you are forced to chug only elf-a and alpha mutagen to look pretty lets move on to the next step.
( Just kidding, choose any mutation line you want. Just remember high social skill and intelligence help alot with consistently convincing npcs to stand down and it may be a good idea to raise social before encountering new npcs, and that those from other lines might have a harder time convincing npcs so be more prepared for a fight.)

Step 2: Making them your follower, or getting rid of your stalker.

Now that the NPC is no longer shooting at you, its time to give them a purpose in life besides standing around and waiting to die. This can be done by asking them to travel with you.
However, the base chances for success are often quite low for normal characters and I would highly suggest doing a mission for them first. Otherwise you risk making them angry and even if you don't you have to wait at least a day to ask them again.
However missions can get tricky. Normal missions are fine. They ask for an item, you find the item for them and when you return, ask for no reward, but request they join you instead. Them joining you allows you to change their settings which greatly reduces the risk of dying to their stupidity. When they start following you without listening to your instructions however is when things get... dangerous. (thanks to grammar nazi zombie for inspiring me to make this post).
Stalkers don't listen, use whatever stupid weapon they please(this includes grenades with zero throwing skill) and block paths, or create new paths for zombies. For this you have 3 choices.
  1. Reload the save(also known as save scumming or alt f4) to before you started the mission and try to convince them to join you some other way.
  2. Try to complete their mission within 10 mins and avoid driving, this is usually possible for kill missions or location missions with nearby targets.
  3. Kill them before they kill you. Vehicle turrets, hordes of zombies and fire are great ways of getting rid of a stalker without being forced to claim responsibility. (and thus suffering from depression.) Of course A psychopath guide isn't complete without the recommendation to also butcher them and use their meat for food and lamp oil. I mean they ARE vaguely useful this way as well.

Step 3: Curing lemming syndrome, aka making sure Greg lives to become a productive member of post apocalyptic society.

This step covers the basics of what you need to do to ensure that NPC survivors don't get you killed. Firstly, go into miscellaneous rules (b by default after talking to an NPC). Make sure if to press the option to "don't investigate noises you cannot see." This is the single most important thing to set.
Unless you want the NPC to start pacing back and forth in a closed buggy loop trying to reach an unreachable location where they heard something or meet with THIS alone in the dark like some kind of horror film, please make sure they don't investigate noise. Combined with the command "don't smash corpses", this will ensure that even if NPCs die, they will die bravely sacrificing their lives for the greater good (you) rather than being a cause for your death.
Next even if you don't want to equip them with anything, press r to arrange their equipment. Most npcs are equipped terribly, with useless high encumbrance, low protection gear, wearing underwear on the outside(btw thats how you knew) and outer protective gear on the inside that turns them from potentially high dodge ninjas into soft targets.
If you do decide to equip them, scavenger gear is a great choice if you find a military base, followed by SWAT armor both of these are characterized by being easy to make or find and highly protective while being cheap to repair. You can then give them full tactical helmets or the most protective helmet you can afford like EOD helmets. Cause you see unlike you they don't need to breathe. Survivors also pair well with extremely heavy weapons like sledgehammers and halberds for that same reason. Properly equipped with heavy weapons and gear, your guys can take down juggernauts with relative ease.
For the extra special survivors you absolutely need to keep alive, give them phase immersion suits that make them partially immune to fire and prevents suicide helmet syndrome, where the survivor takes off their helmet so they can die faster to a headshot.
From my experience combat options don't really help much in keeping them alive, unless you want them to avoid combat completely. Just make sure you win your fights or avoid bringing them into battle entirely if you wish to keep them alive.

Step 4. Combat options, aka please shoot for gods sake.

Combat options are sometimes quite difficult to manage.
The default option for npcs is attack enemies that get too close.
This is okay for melee weapons. This is not okay for any gun that is not a pistol.
You either give that NPC a halberd rather than a Barret 50 Cal or you change their option to attack enemies you can reach without moving or attack any enemy you want. This allows them to shoot freely, with not moving being better as when they are not moving they can won't think, "hmm Greg no ammo, Greg hit with big stick" and instead think "well, I am out of ammo and can't move to engage, so I shall reload my weapon instead"
In addition, if you set a retreat point before hand through the area management menu, you might be able to get npcs to retreat by telling them to temporarily stop fighting through the chat with npcs button. (Maybe, only if they are not engaged in combat) you can also alternate guard and follow to allow firearms users to "fall back" in shifts though it is not recommended as npcs stop shooting when they deem their target to be blocked.
Lastly, when driving it is a good idea to tell those with guns to " temporarily "don't use range weapons for a while" then tell them to relax(lmao) or prepare for danger when you want them to start fighting with their guns again. Reason being that npcs can shoot you while you are turning if they think they have a clear shot in one turn and the vehicle shifts you into their line of fire in the next.
Or you could give them melee weapons...

Step 5.(optional) Trust, aka "don't worry, this will only hurt a little. Also... want booze?"

NPCs won't consume most drugs or mutagens unless they have a trust value of more than 5. They also won't drink most alcohol which is a sign of trust among grown adults.
This could be life saving drugs like panaceus, radiation meds because you decided to be a stupid sexy elf instead of a lovely pine tree or well adjusted alpha male... female... mutant not mutant thing and they are now dying from radiation (you monster ;P) or it could really be mutagen where If it were real life I would need a trust level of twenty before I inject a mix of Blob, Ammonia Bleach and egg Yolks and plants(also known as BABY-p, or alpha serum).
To raise trust you need to either do missions for them, fight with them or mind control with debug well, thats it. Trust relations are usually not a problem as mutagen and drugs are expensive, and one will only share cold ones with the boys and not some random stranger from some random encampment.

Final tips.

Now your lemming is properly adjusted and probably won't jump off a cliff(or your vehicle) any time soon and can fight for him or herself, here are some tips that can help make them alot more useful.
Firstly, you can set up many spots in the area management menu default Y. You can set it to deconstruct furniture/vehicles, Construction blueprint, Chop trees, Mine terrain, "loot wood" ,unsorted, fishing spot. This will allow NPCs to help you deconstruct things , build things, chop trees, mine, saw logs into planks sort out things for you and even fish. They just need the tools, proper lighting and to not be distracted every 5 minutes. I would highly recommend giving them firearm repair kits and a wood saw which should give them all the tools needed to do most tasks except fisihng and farming they will also use any tools in the tools area if they don't have them currently(temporarily lost a gunsmith repair kit this way). To access these options, tell them there is something you want them to do and talk about their current activity.
Second, building up a camp allows for many automatic functions that not only do not require player input but keep the npcs 100% safe, unless they die while performing the task(which is very unlikely/impossible once they have 8 survival.) Particularly useful options include gathering, hunting and crafting of simple things like dehydrated meat and pemmican, once the camp is developed enough.
Third you can teach npcs new skills when they assist you with a task, by reading aloud near them( npcs that have gone deaf cause you exploded a mininuke near them for fun cannot benefit from this. Also YOU are now deaf, probably permanently and cannot interact with NPCs, so its time to unleash your inner cannibal or something.) or by making them read the book on their own through the current activity menu. Once they have the relevant skill levels they can help increase crafting speed, which maxes out at something like 80% faster speed with 3 helpers.

Further advice from other users, cause a discussion ain't a one man guide.

credit to Antsy_Antlers: You can press C to talk to NPCs over a distance. This is the chat button I was talking about as well if anyone was unsure where to give temporary commands. This comes in especially helpful when approaching npcs in the wild, allowing you to decide if you wish to start talking from a longer distance away, or though glass like in the forge of wonders. You can also call them over by radio.
NPCs are not angry, apparently they are hungry. who knew :D Feeding them directly can help to reduce their anger so they don't immediately sic on you if you happen to hit them with a stray shot. By accident of course.

Credit to sharkfinsouperman: Two way radios are great for managing NPCs over long distances and should be one of the first items you give them whenever they join the team. You access it with the factions tab or # by default, in the followers section.
In addition if you wish to condemn them to the void, give them a move to location order then disturb them when they are walking halfway as they will then be locked in a incomplete mission. Preferably while they are swimming so you never find them again. (Seriously don't)
You can actually still find them on the overmap by searching for them directly, but its troublesome.

P'Kank came into the Command Center feeling refreshed. He had actually slept instead of just napping and getting up to check on the status of the battles. It was Hour 76, and things were still progressing well.
The Atrekna forces were on the ropes across the theater. More and more units were engaged in just mopup, in many places the Active Reserve or the Inactive Reserve, backed by Active units, were the ones doing the cleanup.
He checked the maps. Nearly twelve-hundred Black Eye camps across the globe, including sixty-two on islands, were under assault or had been negated. Most of them fought to the death, the brain damage from the Precursor Scream having robbed them of their ability for much more than primal instincts.
One was flashing as he rotated the globe again. He checked the data as he opened up the communications link.
It was a big camp. Nearly two thousand Black Eyes, nearly ten thousand slaves. The brain damage had not been as extensive apparently. When the MP's had landed, backed by 13th Air Cavalry Regiment, the Black Eyes had surrendered enmasse.
What struck him as odd is that they didn't kill the slaves, unlike the other two hundred and some odd other slaver camps. The second thing was that they were using their slaves to grow crops.
The third thing was in a still image transmitted by the Colonel in charge of 13th.
It was a statue, created by welding Precursor armor and pieces of Confederacy armor.
A massive Hessltan, huge and bulky, with some kind of featureless mask, and flames that burned in the eyes. The Hesstlan carried a heavy blade in one hand and was smeared with blood and red paint.
The commo request was from both the Colonel and a Major in charge of a 75th Ranger Regiment, 42nd Special Troops detachment Alpha Team.
P'Kank frowned. That team had been assigned to track the traces that the sats had picked up. Chronotron and phasic energy trails that had been moving rapidly toward the forest. The sats had lost them due to the heavy EM twisting caused by natural metal deposits and P'Kank had tasked the team with the pursuit.
He opened the commo channel, looping both in.
The 75th Major was a Rigellian female. Her hair was sweaty across her forehead and she blinked as P'Kank popped up on her HUD.
The Colonel in charge of the Air Cav Regiment was a Kobold, who blinked once and nodded slightly inside his helmet.
"General," the Colonel said.
"General," the Major added in her two cents.
"Gentlemen," P'Kank said. "What's the issue?"
"We've got something weird, and where the slorpies are concerned, weird is bad," the Colonel said.
"Tell me," P'Kank said.
"The Colonel can go first. You need his background before I talk," the Major said.
"We landed with the MP's, hard insertion, show them the Confederacy's fist," the Colonel said.
Another window opened up and P'Kank watched as the Colonel narrated.
Black Eye camps had to be hit hard and fast. You can in fast, land hard, deploy men, get the strikers back in the air, let them know you had overwhelming firepower. 72.943% of the time the Black Ears would attempt to fight, but a hard hit would convince them to throw down their arms 62.84% of the time.
P'Kank nodded, watching the grav strikers come in hard, blowing away craters of fields and tarmac when the slammed to a stop. Troops dismounted, all of them in powered armor. Even the MP's wore combat frames.
"Here's where it usually comes apart," the Colonel said.
The troops moved forward, announcing they were Confederate Military Police who would respond with lethal force.
The slaves ran for it. The Black Eyes had red dye on the tips of their ears, the slaves had white. The Black Eyes threw their weapons down and fled. It was night, and the images had the slick glossiness of computer enhancement and night vision color replacement.
P'Kank watched.
"Here's where it gets weird," the Colonel said.
The slaves and the Black Eyes got to a freeway. Across the freeway was heavily overgrown forest, roughly ten miles to a lake, then roughly two hundred miles to the mountains.
"They probably figured that if they got into the woods, we'd lose them, so the plan was to push them into the woods to the lake," the Colonel said.
P'Kank noticed a wobbly thick red line was painted on the forest side of the road. In many places there were red Hesstlan skulls painted on the ground.
The slaves and the Black Eyes both stopped in the road. They milled around as ground troops approached on all sides.
None of them ran into the woods.
They sank to their knees and put their hands behind their neck.
The MP's began arresting them.
"Then we saw the big statue," the Colonel said. "We inquired about it and got the same answer every time," he said.
"What is that?" P'Kank said, going over the image again of the massive statue.
"That's the Masked Killer of Sparkling Lake. They claim the world is theirs, but the lake and the forest are his," the Colonel said. "They told us, we go in those woods, we're dead. Any who enter the lake that do not give proper obeisance are killed."
P'Kank wished he could narrow his eyes but instead tapped his antenna against his brow. "Really?"
"They believe it enough not to go into the woods to try to escape," the Colonel said. "According to the Black Eyes, who call themselves 'Red Tips', the woods, the lake, the campground, are all 'his.'"
"Anything else?" P'Kank asked, reaching out and running a search for the Sparkling Lake area.
"Black Eyes don't know fear, sir," the Colonel said. "Their brains are usually too burned out. Whoever it is, whatever it is, in the lake area, they were able to overcome the brain damage from the Precursor Scream and teach these guys fear."
P'Kank nodded. The data was popping up. Old growth forest, former resort for the Lanaktallan and high level subordinates and flunkies. The resort/campground had twenty-two cabins, one fishing dock, a general store. It was eleven miles from the road to the dock.
There was a report from a Ranger Team during the first war. He tapped it and ordered it unsealed.
"So, do you think it's a Dwellerspawn?" P'Kank asked.
The Colonel shook his head. "I don't think so. I think it might be a really really crazy Black Eye," the Colonel said.
The record opened. A First Cav scout team ran into a group of survivors hiding in a cabin that opened fire without casualties. The survivors refused to return to a refugee camp. The commander on the ground had left behind supplies. Six months after the battle was over the survivors radioed for pickup.
Three immature females, including a toddler. One immature male. One purrboi damaged by a phasic attack.
P'Kank shook his head. They had to have it rough.
He tapped the closed report, holding up his bladearm to let the other two he was looking at the data.
Forensics, based on the survivor's testimony, found traces of blood and ichor and tissue from an Atrekna leadership caste that the survivors had killed during an accidental weapon discharge.
Three years ago a scout patrol had seen thermal from the little cabin near the lake, that was tucked back into a little divot in the cliff. They'd landed, offered to take the survivors to a shelter, and were refused. The refugees consisted of a pair of adults, five adolescents, a child, and six infants. One damaged and decommisioned purrboi. The recon team dropped supplies, a radio, and templates for the two BobCo nutriforges the family was using and left them there.
P'Kank looked up. "There's survivors in the woods."
The Colonel shook his head. "Not according to the Black Eyes. There's never been. Just the Masked Killer and his victims."
P'Kank sighed. "They might be prisoners."
"That's my part of this," the Colonel said. He waved at the Major. "Your turn, Major."
The Rigellian nodded. "Thank you, sir," she focused her eyes back on P'Kank. "We've been tracking those Atrekna leadership caste trails, sir. They've been keep low, shielding their emissions, forcing us to move on foot."
P'Kank nodded. "It looks like three leadership caste."
The Major shook her head. "No. They're clever. They're keeping tight together. Looks like six to nine of them."
P'Kank, made a whistling noise, something he'd practiced as a junior officer in the artillery. "That's enough to phase in another wave of attackers."
The Major nodded. "Yes, sir. They went to ground at a small town, we almost missed them but we did a second sweep. It looks like what we thought were three different individuals were small groupings that regrouped at the town. We were sweeping it, they spotted us before we spotted them. They shielded up, went full stealth, then they made a run for the forest about an hour ago."
"Same forest with the 'Masked Killer of Sparkling Lake' in it?" P'Kank asked.
"Yes, sir. At the time we were unaware of the regions reputation and we followed them in," the Major shook her head. "That town, sir. It's entirely stripped, down to the house frames. Not a single thing of use any where in it."
P'Kank nodded. "We've seen that a lot the past four years."
The Major shook her head. "Not like this, sir. That's aside from the point. The point is, we went in after them. We were using chronotron and phasic trail tracking, high sensitive gear. The trail was thick, not dispersed, so we knew we were moving in on them."
The Major flicked an image. P'Kank stared at the energy residue left behind. It looked like two to three moving unshielded.
"We had drones up, ahead, when we spotted this," she said. She flicked another file. A video.
P'Kank opened it.
The drone was moving forward, moving silently on countergrav and a microfan thruster. The woods were heavy, moss hanging from branches, vines on trunks and hanging down from the trees.
"It's a temperate rain forest now. The Elven Queens have been repairing it," the Major said.
"I see that," P'Kank said.
The drone ran its sensors over a patch of shadow then stopped and backed up as the shadow didn't shift according to lowlight.
P'Kank stared.
There was an Atrekna leadership caste crushed against a tree trunk by a large log. It was facing the tree it was crushed against, which had the bark blown off of it in rings.
"If you look, sir, the Atrekna turned to face the tree and let loose with their psychic blast," the Major said. She highlighted part. "See that?" It was a green lump and it took P'Kank a second to realize it was a moss overgrown engine block. "It fell, as a counter-weight. The Atrekna turned toward it, fired off their psychic attack, and that log swung in from behind and crushed them."
She was silent a moment. "That's straight out of the handbook for booby traps."
"It gets better," the Major said. She flicked another file.
P'Kank watched as another Atrekna leadership caste came into view. It was impaled on a dozen spears that were covered in vines and moss and leaves. The next file showed a third with a spear through its head, hanging in midair.
Its robe had slid off and it was naked except for its jewelry.
"Control ordered us out, but by that time I'd already ordered a withdraw from the forest," the Major said.
"I can see why," P'Kank said.
"No, sir, you can't," the Major said. She flicked another file. "This is the next to last."
The video showed the helmet cams from the Major, with a tiny picture in picture in the upper right of her face.
She suddenly stopped. "FREEZE!" she barked.
The entire Ranger team of seven froze in place, some in mid-step.
"Back up. In your own footsteps," the Major said.
P'Kank squinted, trying to see what the Major was seeing.
"What's wrong, Major," one of the Rangers, a Telkan, asked.
"We're in the Valley of Death," the Major said, keep moving back.
"What is it?" P'Kank asked.
"Wait a moment," the Major said. On screen she was urging everyone to slowly move back.
The screen divided in half.
"I run dual system. One is normal enhanced vision, the other is raw feed," the Major said. "Look at the left."
P'Kank leaned forward, looking at the dark one, lit only by the moons and the stars. There was a shape there. He reached forward.
"If you use light enhancement, it vanishes," the Major warned.
"Everyone go to unfiltered, real vision mode," the Major in the recording warned. "Back in your own footsteps."
P'Kank suddenly saw it.
It was like one of those trick pictures, which looked like nothing but overlapping shadows and odd pale blobs where you suddenly see something at the last second.
It was a stack of Hesstlan skulls. Only four rows, but still a stack. They were covered in moss and stained from bodily fluids.
The jaws all held a pair of dried, decaying, Hesstlan ears.
The view tilted down as the Major's breathing changed.
She was slowly stepping over a trip-wire. Monofilament fishing line, nearly invisible, except this one had pollen and debris on it, making it even harder to see.
The Major looked to the left and right in the video.
"There!" the Major said. "See."
P'Kank squinted. "No."
The video paused and several sections lit up.
"It's a standard tripwire to trigger to pulley to spears," the Major said. She highlighted it. "Look at the spearhead."
P'Kank frowned. "What is it?"
The Major flicked up an image.
"BOBCO COSMIC KNIFE!" was on the image. "Made with Saturnite(TM)!"
"Straight out of the handbook," the Major said. She highlighted another part. "See, that's a heating element wrapped around the base of the blade, attached to a microbattery that's been cracked. If the trap is set off, those knives will reach about two thousand C in less than a second, and that will actually rip through anything less than 3 cm of warsteel. There's a dozen of them, three from each compass direction," the Major said. "Whoever made this trap wasn't messing around. That'll rip through any civvie body armor, even light Confed military armor."
"Whoever this is doesn't want visitors," P'Kank said.
"You haven't seen the best video," the Major said. "I showed the Colonel this, right now we've just got drones up watching the lake."
She flicked up another video.
"This is one of our high end stealth drones, we've got it following the phasic and chronotron trails. This is three hours after they entered the woods, one hour after we backed out," the Major said.
P'Kank hit play.
The drone passed over the blasted body of a Atrekna leadership caste.
"That one hit a mine. Well, four of them, directional mines from trees. Grenades against a heavy metal plate, with a thick curved plastic matrix loaded with heavy pellets and rocks. It's an older method, but still used," the Major said. "As a matter of fact, it's in the Confederate military Field Manual of booby traps."
The trails darted away. Three of them. One thinner than the others.
"Two groups of two, one of one," the Major said.
The drone followed the thinner one, picking up speed. It exited the thick temperate rain forest into a small clearing maybe a dozen paces wide.
An Atrekna was in the middle, looking around wildly. It was only a foot above the ground, using a plate of phasic energy six inches off the ground to exert force against rather than the ground itself.
The drone picked up the sound of FWOOP!
"What's it shooting at?" P'Kank asked as the rippling cone of psychic energy lashed out, just making vines and moss tremble.
FWOOP!
This time branches broke away from the tree trunk as bark showered away.
General P'Kank leaned forward as the Atrekna twisted to the left and right, then looked right at the drone.
Its eyes were wide, P'Kank could see a tiny pinprick of a pupil in the middle of the white eyes. The feeding tendrils around the mouth were curled up protectively.
"Is it... afraid?" P'Kank asked as there was a FWOOP! and the camera suddenly rolled and fell to the ground.
"Watch," the Colonel said.
It turned around again. FWOOP! Again, nothing but moss and branches. The drone deployed legs and managed to get upright, no bigger than a hockey puck with six legs.
The camera focused on the Atrekna as it suddenly made a loud keening noise, almost a screech.
"What the fuck?" P'Kank heard his Saurian aide swear.
P'Kank himself paused the video and tapped some keys.
The top of the figure's head was two point one meters high and the shoulders were almost a meter wide. The program estimated the shape at around a hundred kilos. It was wearing a civilian grade grav-skiing mask that was chipped and gouged, heavy forestry worker coveralls, gloves, and boots. Its ears were bare of fur, covered in patches of scar tissue that P'Kank immediately identified as radiation burn scarring.
It was also holding a brush clearing blade in one hand.
"That's... a big bunny," P'Kank said. He hit play on the video then hit pause again. "What?" he asked, rewinding it and playing it in slow motion.
The eyes of the grav-ski mask lit up with dull red light.
"You see it too!" the Major said. "See, that is why I called it in."
P'Kank set it to normal speed.
The eyes were dull crimson as the figure just stood at the edge of the clearing.
FWOOP! that horrible psychic attack lashed out, blowing leaves across the ground, shattering bark from the trees, shredding vines and moss.
The figure just stood there, the eyes burning red.
"Digital Omnimessiah preserve us," Captain Ulk said softly.
The Atrekna screeched again as the figure took a single step forward.
FWOOP!
Another step.
P'Kank didn't think the Atrekna were capable of panic, but as the figure began to slowly walk forward, there was no other description of the way the Atrekna screeched and lashed out.
FWOOP FWOOP FWOOP FWOO...
The figure walked straight through an attack that could crack warsteel, as if it was nothing more than a breeze.
The attack cut off suddenly as the figure thrust the blade into the body of the Atrekna. A third of the blade burst from its back, dark purple blood dripping from it.
The Atrekna began to weakly beat on the figure's chest. It reached up one shaking hand and clawed at the mask, the head tilted down to stare at the dying Atrekna with red eyes.
"Terran eyes at night, prudent take flight," Shermtrek, one of General P'Kank's aides, said softly.
The figure yanked the blade out of the Atrekna and it collapsed to the forest floor. It reached up one shaking hand as the figure bent down and began hacking at the Atrekna with the brush cutting blade. Heavy, methodical, impersonal strikes as if they were just cutting away brush.
The figure straightened up, turned away, and walked quickly into the woods, vanishing.
"So, the monster's real," P'Kank said slowly.
"About the only thing I've seen that can take an Atrekna psychic attack straight to the face without a helmet and not die is a Terran," the Major said.
"According to the Red Tips, they've shot him, stabbed him, blew him up with a mine and a grenade, but he doesn't die," the Colonel said. "According to the Red Tips, they're seen severed Dwellerspawn heads on the road into the camp ground."
"His lake," P'Kank mused. "The red eyes are interesting. Terran eyes."
"Enraged eyes," the Major said.
P'Kank walked back the video, pausing it on the thrust. He zoomed in closely and ran a quick filter.
The blade burned brightly.
"Whoever it is, that blade was loaded with phasic energy, the same type a Terran has running through their body. It tore straight through the Atrekna's psychic armor," P'Kank said, shaking their head. "That blade thrust would have punched through five centimeters of warsteel laminate alloy."
"Yeah," the Major said. She popped a piece of stimgum, an action that P'Kank knew was a nervous habit. "You want us to go in? Make sure the slorpie leaders are gone?"
P'Kank shook his head. "We'll keep drone overflight in case any make a run for it across the lake. Send microdrones on full stealth into the woods, keep your men out," he said softly. "Now I know how the people who survived at that lake survived not only the last four years, but the first war too."
"How?" the Colonel asked.
P'Kank reached out and touched the hologram of the massive Hesstlan. "They had a protector."

The Atrekna squealed as its companion fell out of the air and landed on their knees, vainly trying to hold in their guts from where the slash had ripped through psychic shielding, the armored robe, and purple flesh as if it was all tissue. Their knees sunk into the soft sand at the edge of the lake, which had moonlight glimmering on the gentle waves.
The massive figure took a step forward and gave a swipe of the heavy base steel blade.
The wounded Atrekna's head made a crunching noise when the blade impacted the back of it.
The Atrekna fired off a psychic attack that would drive a slavespawn to their knees.
FWOOP!
The figure just yanked the blade from the dead Atrekna's head, blood spraying from the blade. It didn't react, just the heavy clothing pressed against it. The red eyes of the white armored facial covering burned silently as it stared at the Atrekna who had attacked.
The Atrekna screeched and tried to float backwards. Not that the woods at its back were safe, but just to move away from the figure in front of it.

The figure took three purposeful steps, three steps that looked slow but covered the entire ten feet of distance.
The Atrekna held out its hands, focusing psychic energy in a shield in front of it as it screamed.
The blade crashed through the psychic shield, shattering it.
And cut the Atrekna's arm off halfway up the forearm.
Before the Atrekna could do much more than inhale to scream the heavy blade punched through its chest, just to the right of the middle of the chest, bisecting the two chamber heart.
The Atrekna slumped and fell to the ground as the blade was whipped back out of the chest.
The figure bent forward and chopped at the Atrekna. Five heavy chops.
It straightened up and looked around.
The insects were beginning to sing again in the night. An animal rustled the leaves.
The big figure turned and, with long purposeful strides, vanished into the woods.
The insects, transplanted and modified Terran ants, found the bodies and began to lead long paths to them. By dawn, the bodies were covered in feasting ants.

Elu watched as Aunt Fenn helped Dambree take off her coveralls, the heavy cloth stained from the black rain and the purple blood both. Her face was bruised and bloody, one eye bloodshot and red. Her nose had bled, caking her whiskers and upper lip with blood. Once the coveralls dropped, Aunt Fenn and Tru helped undo the catches on the Confed Army plating that normally went over their uniforms. The warsteel was dull and cracked, no longer glossy. It thudded to floor and Ellie moved over to pick it up and take it outside to put it in the shed. He came back in and gathered up each cracked and dull piece of armor.
Finally, Aunt Fenn stepped forward and wrapped a blanket around Dambree, hiding the bruises and cuts on her body. For a moment Dambree leaned against Aunt Fenn, slumping down, forcing Aunt Fenn to wrap her arms around Dambree's waist to hold her up. Dambree sighed, resting her head on her aunt's shoulder while Fenn hugged her gently. After a moment Dambree straightened up and Fenn gently moved Dambree toward the bedroom, where her other two cousins had filled up the metal bathtub with hot soapy water. Tru handed her sister a fizzybrew just before she went through the door and Elu heard Dambree open it before the door shut.
Meglee picked up the heavy brush blade, moving into the kitchen, and began to wipe it down in preperation for cleaning it and then sharpening it. A few times as she washed it sparks jumped off it, but Meglee had seen it before.
She used a Terran Army bayonet sharpener to hone the edge of the blade as others kept working.
Elu picked up the coveralls and other cloth, moving over to the wash tub, which Uncle Inkree had finished filling up with water. The water was soapy and had the rad-cleaning liquid in it to get rid of the radiation from the black rain. Without complaint, he started washing them. His cousins took them out to rinse them off then hang them on the clothesline behind the little cottage.
He had just finished when Aunt Fenn escorted a wet but clean Dambree, wrapped in a warm blanket, to the couch. When Dambree laid down, the youngest, a year old half-feral toddler, climbed on Dambree to lay on her chest. The toddler patted Dambree's chest and sighed, closing her eyes.
"How is she?" Elu asked after he had taken the wash tub out and dumped it.
"Tired," Fenn said.
"Did she say anything?" Elu asked. He had noticed his sister had taken to speaking less and less over time.
"Just thanked me," Fenn said, laying one hand on her swollen belly. "She says the woods are clear again. Said they were more slorpies."
"Did Mister Mewmew check her blood?" Elu asked.
Fenn nodded. "Greenish-Yellow trefoil," she said. She leaned down and put her hand on Dambree's sleeping brow. "I gave her the injection."
"Good," Elu nodded, moving over to the chair and sitting down. "When dawn comes, me and the boys will go check the traps. Reset them if we have to."
Fenn nodded.
"Wake me if you hear anything, Dambree needs to sleep," Elu said.
Again, Fenn just nodded.
Against the wall, next to the fireplace, Mister Mewmew watched silently.

P'Kank watched as one by one, each unit signalled that their area was clear.
The big Treana'ad checked the clocks. Ground to orbit was 1:1. Orbit to system was 1:1. System to the greater galaxy was 1:1. The sun was a bright yellow again.
He looked at the clock that had been running since the operation started as he pressed the button to signal the mission was complete.
Operation Billy Mays had concluded at 91 hours, 12 minutes, 13 seconds.
He looked at his casualties.
9.68% KIA. 12.85% WIA.
He closed his eyes, letting the armored coverings slide over his compound eyes.
If your plan had been better, your men wouldn't have died, that little voice whispered.
He knew there was no way to silence it. He'd just have to live with it.
P'Kank opened his eyes and nodded to himself.
"Alert Civil Defense they can sound the all-clear," P'Kank ordered.
The war was over, but there was still work to be done.

So i've been suffering for 2.5 years.
To date things i've tried that helped in varying degrees (ordered from most helpful to least)
Squat Potty (Makes pooping way easier, use it everyday without fail)
Hot Baths
Finger dilation
Heat Pad (Recently added this and it seems to be making a huge difference)
GTX Ointment (This worked quite well for me, at least in terms of pain and a flare up
Cicatridina Hyaluronic Suppositories (These really made a huge difference, i've bought these three times and each time there are noticiable changes in both pain and what seems to be healing)
Botox injection (This helped for a few months, and has stopped the bleeding but i still have a fissure)
Diltiazem
Water Diet /Fasting (Tried this 3 times so I didn't poop for a day or two, didn't really do much)
Anusol cream/suppositories including HCL version, preperation H, all the chinese herbal ointments including Musk hemmahroid ointment that is well liked etc, nothing here really made a permanent change to my condition.
Rutin and Hemmahroid anti-inflammatory tablets
My current routine and touch wood i think i may be finally healing, i started a month ago, i was prescribed diltiazem for a second try.
I looked into anal dilation, so once I got my diltiazem i was determined at my last chance to heal it before i get LIS surgery. My current routine is :
Daily sachet of movicol in the evening (Osmotic laxative safe for long term use)
BM in morning, then a ten minute hot bath after.
I will then use my finger to massage the diltiazem cream for a few minutes.
I will then use a herbal ointment called natural white yarrow ointment (looks like vaseline) to massage my anus for 7-8 minutes.
Immediately after i'll sit on a heated pad for an hour or two (low temperature).
The whole process at the beginning was difficult, it was a struggle to get the finger in and i felt some crazy tightness clenching on my finger.
I am now 4 weeks into this routine, without fail doing the same thing each day, two hot baths, and anal massage, and the past week or so has been a big difference to my condition. Now when I am putting my finger in and against the fissure, I don't feel AS MUCH stinging, i also notice how much easier my finger goes in and it just feels more relaxed in general. After that routine and i sit down on my heating pad again, I can tell that the fissure is not throbbing and pulsing like it did before.
The first week was hell, my ass was sore, i felt my fissure for the first time and now I know exactly where it is, it stung when in contact with the cream etc, and i was sore for a 3/4 hours afterwards each time, now I know where it is physically with my finger, I can pinpoint where the pain is radiating from.
I'm quietly hopeful this time it might be healing, but if anything an anal fissure has taught me is that you can't let your guard down, and you can't get your hopes up, as everything i've tried to date has never had any lasting benefit to my condition, although i am no longer bleeding when I poop and the pain is not unbearable, it's still there.
This is my last ditch attempt, and I can be confident in saying that i've tried literally everything before I get the LIS surgery as the final resort. I'll keep everyone updated on my progress, but it's the first time I am feeling hopeful. My ass is starting to feel relaxed for the first time in 2.5 years, it's hard to explain but there isn't major "pulsing" or throbbing after bm's or when I do the massage like there was at first.

Just thought i'd share my post.

Hello, i am getting my first gnrh agonist injection in 8 hours, i am taking 10 mg cypro in preperation but i am not sure how long the most extreme testosterone spike lasts usually or how long i should continue with the cypro to be save.
If anyone knows something or even has a study it would help me out a lot!
