Hey, I'm wanting to purchase my first ever PC for 1080p Ultra gaming.
This is my current build ($1835AUD):

ATX MOBO (B650) •
Fractal North Case • 4 fans
Build number 2 ($1819AUD):

mATX MOBO (B650) • Smaller-sized case • Better warranty and customer suppport • 6 fans
I really love the Fractal North case and have had my heart set on it for several months, however, I have never built a PC before. I don't feel overly confident with building it which is why I like the Aftershock rig.
With Aftershock, they build it for me (saving me time and money) and it comes with a better processor whilst being cheaper than my build. The only downsides for me are that it comes with an mATX board instead of a normal-sized one, and I just really prefer the Fractal North case.
I'll be getting a higher-paying job next year so I would want to upgrade my GPU to like a 4080 when I have that, but right now, all I want is a 1080p rig (as I only have a 1080p monitor). If I get build 1, I'd eventually have to upgrade CPU
AND GPU. With build 2, I'd only really have to upgrade the GPU.
Is it worth it to bite the bullet and get the case I like less with better specs (and being cheaper), or should I continue with my build?
•
ALTERNATIVELY:
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/8Fvb9c This build uses the case I like and has the better processor, but uses an mATX board which: • A: looks funny in the bigger sized case, and; • B: has less room for upgrades in the future (e.g., less fan slots, less SSD slots, etc...)
Again, I don't feel confident building the PC myself, so any insight into what I should do would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.21 16:02 BloodAmethystTTV Update: How do you finally cut contact for good?
So just an update from my previous posts about a month ago…
I ended up making the move to a different state to get away from her thinking it would help me be able to realise she wasn’t good for me and that I can start fresh now.
Boy was I wrong, ever since I got here I’ve had this unshakable feeling that I’ve deeply messed up and made the worst decision of my life by leaving.
I’m finding it incredibly hard to cut contact with her even though I’m a million miles away from her now. She’s expressed interest in coming to visit me despite still being with her AP.
I guess for me the reason I’m personally having such a hard time making the final step for myself by cutting her off. Is that I fundamentally still believe our relationship failing and getting to a point where an affair was an option, was my failure in the relationship.
The second main reason would be that I feel like I’m a really hard person to love because I have a lot of flaws. I’m not perfect and finding someone that is compatible with my life like she was will be incredibly challenging.
Very easy for me to be tempted by the notion oh well better the devil you know…. Yes she will likely continue to cheat on me but what’s the alternative?
So good people of this community, how did you find the strength to finally pull the trigger on NC? Of truley letting them go in your heart, mind and soul?

2024.05.21 16:00 No-Emotion1992 Ideas stolen at work and incompetency
So I'm the idea gal at work. constantly on the optimization and organization wave. Constantly pitching ideas to my bosses. What I really love (sarcasm) is I've observed at least a dozen times my ideas getting shot down and then brought up by one of my bosses as their crazy revolutionary new ideas and then our whole focus is on that idea and developing it. Example: I brought up to our GM almost a year ago we need to start honing in ops processes and get a standard layout and inventory list for each of our trailers. That idea was met with frustration and him saying no it's not worth the time. tune in today and he brings up the BEST idea ever. Exactly the same idea I brought up for the first time almost a year ago! I'm just really tired of 1) being belittled on the phone by our customers because I'm too stupid to know anything about our business and 2) tired of these tired construction haunchos stealing my ideas and pawning them off as their own. I'm tired of my managers doing it. I stopped giving out ideas. I stopped trying to solve problems that aren't mine. I've found peace but everyone has started to "step up" and begin to do their jobs finally. Our GM is struggling. He can't even keep up with a to do list or let alone use one to document what he needs to do. It's just he'll remember it if it's important and do it when he has the time No one on our team plans things out. When during the day to stop by X place so you don't waste 2 hours in your day so you can get to where you need to go on time. Then I'm left with calling our customers to tell them we're running behind because we forgot a $15 caulk gun and our guys can't plan for shit. Our crew can't keep their space clean. Used gloves litter the truck and warehouse. Unless I stand back there every second and watch them clean it doesn't get done. I've cleaned up the truck and warehouse so many times I'm done. Everyone here is an adult in a profession Im assuming we all want to succeed in because that's how you make more money right? I didn't think this job was going to be like this. I DONT get paid enough to do everyone's job and keep track of everything and do my own job

2024.05.21 15:55 Nukemarine Today I finished lesson 8 of Pimsleur Mandarin Chinese, supplemented with Trimsleur, Anki, ACHTT, and previous Japanese study. So far, so good with Hanzi characters being the easiest part of all this.
Was tempted to make a video to show more than tell and still might, but things are still very, very early and always subject to change.
My previous Japanese language study is obviously giving me a big head start. Knew this would be the case when I went to Taiwan a couple of times and could recognize more than a few words which really helped me get around. Obviously pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar would be radically different, but I was also aware of that. The unknown traditional Hanzi (focusing on that since it's easier given my Japanese study background) will not be the main problem, just the tones and pronunciation and thousands of words using those Hanzi.
Also, I have the benefit of going in with a set plan based on my own experience learning (and re-learning) Japanese using self-study tools: Anki, text analyzers, browser plug-ins, audio books, pop-up dictionaries, etc.
Current plan is as follows: Do the first 90 lessons of the older Pimsleur Mandarin course with serious supplementation:
- Anki - I'm using a transcript (complete for Mandarin I Lessons 1 - 30) and webpage with vocabulary and starting dialogue for all 90 lessons to generate the cards. They'll have English, PinYin, Simplified and Traditional for both the vocabulary and an example sentence. The cards will be two per word - PinYin word/sentence (audio recognition, but I'm not bothering with actual audio for Pimsleur), and English word/Clozed traditional hanzi sentence (production where preferably the English word would instead be an image/Chinese definition).
- Trimsleur - My term for taking Pimsleur lessons and removing the English prompts and long pauses with two second pauses. For a 30 minute lesson, I have a 10 minute pure Chinese audio that's also comprehensible. Meant for comprehensible audio immersion (and repeating/shadowing).
- ACHTT - stands for "All Chinese Half The Time" which is my term for Ken Cannon's suggestion to watch every episode of a show in Japanese twice: once w/ English subs for the comprehension, then once more w/ Chinese subs or no subs for the immersion. I take it one step further by ripping the audio with a program uses the subtitles to remove long non-spoken portions (CIA or compressed immersion audio).
So current plan just for the 90 Pimsleur lessons is:
- Review due Anki. For these, I have strict fail and soft fail rules for each card type. "Audio" cards (PinYin word/sentence) I have to know which hanzi are used and the meaning of the word - this is a strict fail. The soft fail (I hit "hard" UNLESS the spacing will be over 6 months) is the stroke order of the hanzi and meaning of the example sentence. The Clozed Delete card I also have know the Mandarin word, it's hanzi, and it's tone for the strict fail. The stroke order and meaning/reading of the clozed deleted Mandarin sentence is a soft fail.
- Do the Pimsleur lesson with the transcript (in part I at least). Pause to initially answer the English prompt then play and repeat the Chinese phrase. When the new word is introduced, go to it's Anki card to add pronunciation notes (the transcript has a few pages of charts for this) along with HanziHero as needed for Hanzi meanings and notes (super important for Hanzi that are new to me). Now, Pimsleur is normally a 30 minute lesson, but doing it this way makes it last about an hour or so.
- Activate the new vocabulary in Anki (custom study option) and see how much is remembered. I set cards to long learning time (1m 10m 1440m 3600m) with graduation done at 1 week. This is also great because Pimsleur cannot tell if I remembered anything or not and balance accordingly. Anki can.
- Watch one episode of Peppa Pig Mandarin at 75% speed with English sub, then rewatch with traditional Chinese subs. Peppa Pig is slowed down because the normal episodes are sped up on purpose in most languages. Any other show I would likely leave at original speed.
- Update my comprehensible immersion audio playlist. It'd be 4 copies of today's Trimsleur lesson, 3 copies of yesterday, 2 copies of two days ago, and 1 copy of three days ago (so Lesson 8 x4, Lesson 7 x3, Lesson 6 x2, Lesson 5 x1). In addition, it'd be the last four days of Peppa Pig ripped audio. This is about two hours of audio in total. I then play these on random, and the most recent lessons are played more often.
The comprehensible audio is played a lot of the time passively in the background. I can be doing anything else and not notice, but it'll be there whenever I do take a aural snack (pay attention to what's being played). I DO NOT want to repeat the major mistake in my early Japanese study of playing incomprehensible Japanese audio (rips of TV shows I watched) near 24/7. Found out that comprehensible that frequently refreshed is key to training your brain to follow along without thinking as well as repeat without effort.
Again, I'm only on lesson 8 with a handful of vocabulary words under my belt. Still, I can read aloud all eight of the introductory dialogues in traditional Mandarin. I'm also noticing the words as they pop up in Peppa Pig.
Gonna hate moving on to Pimsleur Mandarin part II as there's no transcript. However, there are websites that'll transcribe the Trimsleur audio (and maybe even the Pimsleur if I wanted) which'll simplify doing the lessons like I'm doing now.
After Pimsleur, I plan to do deep dive study methods (read subtitles along with Chinese subs, pausing only to look up meaning of unknown words and phrases), then after 10 hours of reading (at beginning stages this might be only 1 hour of actual Chinese audio) use subs with MorphMan in Anki to get 100 most common words that are within my learned vocab range. All that means is if I know 1,500 words then MorphMan will only look for new words from 3,000 most common that's also the most common in the read material stopping at 100 new words if that before starting reading up again.
Hopefully this all makes sense. Like with Japanese, I'll freely share whatever resources I can and answer whatever questions people have (if I have time). Obviously I'm in the beginning stages so maybe don't expect much.

2024.05.21 15:55 Luck9599 Additions to future F1 games (*long post alert*)
Hello everyone
With F1 24 being announced and being copy and paste again (basically just an F1 23 DLC at this point), I thought I'd write this post to maybe, just maybe, help (in any way) the next future F1 games become more realistic, which I think should be the main goal of these games (and also to express my deep disapointment with how the series is going).
Before we begin: this is completely based on my opinion, you don't need to agree with me, specially because I know some stuff may be considered completely delusional, as EA would never implement these things. With that out of the way, it's light out and away we go.
Here are additions/ideas that would turn the F1 game into an incredible experience:
- Cooldown lap and pit lane control: they're kinda the same thing (to an extent) so that's why it's just one topic. It would be very fun to actually drive in the cooldown lap and park the car in the pits, as well as drive the car through the pit lane as we make our stops or serve penalties. It's not something hard to implement, and you could also make it with the option to turn them off, so everyone gets to play the way they want. It would also add realism with stuff such as unsafe release penalties.
- Custom liveries: I cannot stress this enough. Why not let players customize their own liveries and share with the community? This would add a whole new layer to customization and replayability, as we already have in Need for Speed (which is also from EA) and Gran turismo for example. Not hard to do but given the game's history I guess we're not getting this one so soon.
- Preseason testing: this would be very interesting. It could be something like free practice, but bigger. It would help the R&D development before the season actually started, so you could (or not) have a better car. It would also be optional in the career settings.
- Contracts: they do need an overhaul as soon as possible. Driver academies don't actually mean anything. You can literally be a Ferrari academy driver and join Red Bull from the get go, it doesn't make any sense. We need something like IRL, where a team would preferably sign a driver from its own academy. Also there is no performance measurement, it says that "Red Bull expect their drivers to fight for the podium", but even if you don't do this, you can't be fired. I won't even start on the 6 month contract period. Also as a member of a certain team driver academy, it would be very fun to participate in F1 sessions when in F2, to get experience and also boost your image (acclaim, as it's called).
- Custom calendar: another element of replayability and creativity. Let us make a season with many races as we want, in any track order we'd like. A season starting in Abu Dhabi and ending in Australia, for example, would be very fun. It adds variety to the game and makes it so players can keep enjoying career and MyTeam modes without get bored with the same format.
- New tracks: Sepang, Hockenheim, Jerez, India, Korea, Istambul Park... the list goes on. New tracks (not actually new, but you get the idea), combined with custom calendar would make for infinite possibilities in both career and MyTeam. EA can even add them as a DLC post launch if they want to. Another brilliant addition concerning tracks would be different layouts, such as Sakhir outer ring, or even different versions for the tracks as an option, such as pre 2003 Barcelona, for example.
- MyTeam car model: the car model stays the same for all 10 seasons of your MyTeam journey, without a single modification. As the seasons go on, your car gets progressively faster, but it LOOKS exactly the same. R&D improvements don't reflect in the car model at all. It would be nice to have a customizable car, where you can actually change the design to improve aero or brake cooling. IRL we had teams looking to reproduce what Red Bull made with the RB19, and that is a great example of how things could be in game: as the regulations change, different models become better than others, and as you progress with R&D, your car can get closer to what would be the fastest aero design. Minor cosmetic things like different steering wheel models would also be very nice.
- Improved AI: we know that we need better AI behaviour when racing and fighting for position, but the problem goes way beyond that. The AI makes ZERO mistakes in free practice and qualifying, so you can never experience events such as IRL when someone crashes in qualifying and a red flag can decide an unlikely pole sitter. There is also a very old problem that needs to be addressed: the AI doesn't know how to behave in practice when you want to let it overtake you. It just sits there by your side until you decide to go and then follows you. There are no penalties for blocking/impeding in both practice and qualifying.
- MyTeam engine owner: I've seen many people asking for this one and I agree, it would be very fun to have our own engine and be able to supply it to other teams. At the beginning it would be inferior to other engines, but with the possibility of becoming the best later on. We would also be able to supply our engine to other teams and make more money out of that partnership.
- Regulation changes and loopholes: regulation changes (and R&D as a whole) should be more complex than just redeveloping some parts (also because eventually you have so much points that it doesn't even matter anymore). Also loopholes would be an interesting addition, like the DAS system or the F duct (not these exact mechanics, but something like that). They could work as a new development that is so OP that FIA needs to judge whether it's legal or not and whether it will be banned immeadiately or in next season. Any team can develop a loophole, including the AI.
- Crashes: remember when Williams gave Sargeant's car to Albon and he was unable to race? Well this is an extreme example but what if we had something similar in the game? If you crash the car (not minor wall taps, I mean big shunts) the team should take time to fix it and in some cases you may not have the car completely fixed for qualifying, for example (if you happen to crash in FP3). Also big crashes could cause the driver to step away due to injuries and let the reserve driver take his place (this also means that you can now hire a reserve driver in MyTeam).
- Interviews: the interviews are a joke at the moment, they don't even ask questions of things that actually happened during the race (or session), they are random and completely basic. We need questions concerning crashes, race pace, qualifying, post race interview based on how high you finished, market specutalations, etc. The possibilities here are endless.
- Radio and team orders: at the moment the radio is basically useless. The engineer only speaks when you gain/lose a position or when you're near your pit stop. We need more active communication, where he informs us on opponent's pace, our pace, track limits, strategy discussion, and speacially: team orders. It would be very interesting to have our teammate hold someone for us to pull away, give us toe in qualifying, or stay in DRS range for us not to get overtaken. With that said, I think the first issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible is the pit stop: our teammate ALWAYS double stack and fucks his own strategy. There should be a way to prevent that from happening through communication.
- Formula 2: starting your career in F2 is fun and add realism, but it could go beyond that. Competing in the F2 championship helps you get a seat in F1, depending on your performance: if you perform well you're more likely to get a seat, but if you don't, you may even need to stay for one more season. Also, if you choose not to start in F2, an option could be to have an F1 car test: you would drive a certain team's car and try to impress them, if you do well, you get a seat.
As you guys can see, all these additions would be more oriented towards realism. I addressed changes to career mode and MyTeam, since those are the only modes I really play, but I know that online modes are in need of some changes as well.
Please feel free to comment what you think as well :D

2024.05.21 15:53 bkmafia PLEASE HELP
I'LL TRY TO KEEP THIS SHORT BUT I NEED SOME GUIDANCE. FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH A SLOW INTERMEDIATE BUT PROGRESSIVE ISSUE THAT I COULD NOT POINT A FINGER ON. IT ALL STARTED WHEN I WAS ABOUT 20 years old.
I noticed weakness and fatigue that was unlike anything ive ever noticed.
My gait seemed to change a bit. I felt tingling in my face and my entire right shoulder front and back would burn for days with no let up. My R shoulder seemed to not even be in its correct position. I would constantly try to put in place but it just never seemed to get better. My hips would feel dull as would my right leg. As if the muscles were just kind of there. I felt my jaw and it seemed to be out of place and droopy.
This was the intial complaints inwrote down all that time ago.
Fast forward to 2024
All of those initial symptoms are still here. The symptoms i described would ignite last for a few months and i would have recovery. Sometimes years of little to know signs. But they would always come back. For 20 yrs this has occured. Ive been diagnosed by my neurologist with dystonia/cervical stenosis. He put me on gabapentin and ive been in therapy. But the symptoms never were really helped. Maybeited slightly but always there seapecially as of.late.
There are times(more often than not lately) with overwhelming frustration and depression. Not understanding the condition i was in or why these strange symptoms were present caused major problems with everday normal life. I have thought and thought about this situation. Am i crazy are these symtpoms in my head no body understands me etc... The last 20 years has been a daily struggle.
My prognosis now is seemingly starting to progress.
The last 2 years ive noticed signifigant changes in my posture. I almaot dont know how to stand. my back muscles seem to be frozen. My spine now hunches me forward. At the same time when i stand my pelvis seems to arch back as well as my back. My right shoulder blade is excessively winged now and my left scapula is starting to do the same. I now have mild pectus excavatum. Thats progressed fast over the last 5 years.
My face looks droopy. My right eye wont close. I could go on and on
The thing that struck me is when i was researching this disease. It seemed like i was checking every box on the symptom list.
Never having been able to figure this out i pray this is the right step
What if i can put a name to this torment.
TLDR:
SYMPTOMS IVER THE LAST 20 YEARS MIMICK THE SYMPTOMS OF FSHD. I HAVE NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND STILL DONT. EVEN MY NEUROLOGIST HASNT MADE THIS AN OPINION. I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT IT BY RESEARCH. PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THIS. WHERE DO I GO AND WHO DO I TALK TO ABOUT THIS.
THANK YOU

2024.05.21 15:53 L3GiiT818 Where to go from here
So i started talking to a girl who i started liking back in April. Come May we figured out we really liked each other for a while! went on a couple dates 2 weeks ago. We got to know each other on a deeper level and things were looking up, we were free flowing things and she started sending me couple like things, memes, etc. then by our last date we figured we wanted to spend more time together and she decided to come over at night to watch a movie.. one thing lead to another and we found ourselves sleeping with eachother.. following that day there’s been a 180 switch in communication and interest.
After a few days i truly noticed it and confronted her about it, it turns out that, that night triggered her trauma and something about the following day started to make her “think about things” to where her reply to me wanting to work through things and continue talking/seeing each other was met with her saying she doesn’t know what she wants nor what we should be doing but would like to take a step back.
So i’ve given her space, it’s been a week and she hasn’t initiated anything texting wise. Communication is at a all time low. I did checked in once and saw her at work a few days ago where it wasn’t awkward at all, it was confusing really she still displayed those same characteristics that she’s into me with all the orbiting she was doing. I’m unsure of where we stand honestly but just yesterday she posted photos from a museum of our first date and took me off her private story. Idk what to do or how to navigate this honestly. Please any insight would help

2024.05.21 15:51 terryleewhite What's New in the May 2024 Lightroom Release?
| Hi everyone, Terry White from Adobe here, and I'm happy to share the news about today's Adobe Photography Release (May 2024). There are updates across the Lightroom Ecosystem to include Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on Mobile, and Lightroom on Web. Today, we are introducing a groundbreaking feature in Lightroom-Generative Remove, powered by Firefly. This innovative tool allows you to effortlessly eliminate distractions from your photos with a single brush stroke, all without the need to switch to Photoshop. We've also improved Lens Blur (which was in Early Access), making it easier than ever to control the depth of field in your photos with professional results. Easily remove distractions with Generative Remove (early access) Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw https://i.redd.it/axpim9fmas1d1.gif With Generative Remove, powered by Firefly, you can easily remove unwanted objects and distractions, even on complex backgrounds, in just a few simple steps. Distractions can ruin an otherwise great photo. Generative Remove allows you to quickly remove them with realistic, high-quality results. Generative Remove uses Firefly technology to intelligently fill the photo behind removed items. The results on complex backgrounds are particularly impressive, like matching a detailed wallpaper pattern or the fabric on a plaid shirt. Lightroom will even give you a few variations to choose from so you'll have full creative control in picking the one you like best. \Note that the previous "Heal" tool is now called "Remove." You'll find Generative Remove within the Remove tool, accessible via a toggle on Lightroom mobile or a check box on Lightroom for web, Lightroom Classic, and Lightroom.* Generative Remove is powered by Firefly Image 1 Model and is available today as an early access feature to Lightroom paid plan subscribers across the Lightroom ecosystem via mobile, desktop, iPad, web and Classic. Get a pro-quality background blur with AI-powered Lens Blur Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw https://i.redd.it/h43ibvxnas1d1.gif Our improved Lens Blur uses the power of AI to map the foreground and background of your image to apply a pro-quality blur effect. Blur busy backgrounds to make your portraits pop, add a dramatic blur to nature photos to make the greenery stand out, or get a dreamy, blurred background from a sparkling city skyline at night. With the interactive and flexible controls of Lens Blur, you can play around with the blur amount, change the shape of the light points or "bokeh," and customize the area you want to blur using the focus range tool. This new release of Lens Blur includes better subject detection, the ability to create custom presets, and batch editing capabilities. Please note that the latter two features are coming soon to Android devices. Get the perfect blur effect in a click with new Lens Blur Adaptive Presets Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw Today, we also introduce a set of brand-new adaptive presets for Lens Blur that use AI technology to apply a blur effect that's tailor-made to your photo. Presets are great for quickly finding the perfect blur look without having to dig into fine-tuned edits. You can choose from seven Blur Background adaptive presets that change the shape and style of the blur in the background: Subtle, Strong, Circle, Bubble, Geometric, Ring, or Swirl. After you pick a preset, you can adjust the strength of the blur with the amount slider or customize the effect further by using the Lens Blur tool controls. What else is new in the latest Lightroom release We've also made several updates across the Lightroom ecosystem that give you more creative control and flexibility when working on your photos and videos. Enjoy Sony tethering support Available in Lightroom Classic on the latest Sony digital cameras such as the Alpha 7 IV and Alpha 7R V – for a full list see here. See your images on a big screen as soon as you click the camera shutter. We're expanding support for tethering by adding the latest Sony digital cameras so you can photograph directly into Lightroom Classic, saving precious time on your workflow. It's now even easier to review photo details, edit in real-time, and collaborate with on-set production teams and clients. For a full list of all newly supported cameras in Lightroom see this page. Easily move cloud files to your local drive Available on Lightroom At last year's Adobe MAX conference, we introduced local storage for Lightroom — the option to work with your photos and videos in Lightroom without having to import or sync them to the cloud. With this release, it's now easier to move or archive your photos off the Lightroom Cloud and store them on your computer's internal drive, an external drive, or a local server. This is great when you want to free up space on the cloud, or for file management such as archiving past projects to a local drive. You can select multiple files within an album, or an entire album to move to your local drive. Lightroom will ask what folder structure you'd like to use, so you can preserve the album structure locally as you move it off the cloud. This is especially useful if you have a high volume of photos and are working with numerous files at a time. Edit videos with the Tone Curve Available on Lightroom You can now edit videos in Lightroom using Tone Curve. This graph-based tool enables you to fine-tune a video's brightness and contrast by simply dragging the curve control points up or down. For example, if a point on the tone curve is moved up, it becomes a lighter tone; if it is moved down, it becomes darker. Create and play slideshows in Lightroom Available on Lightroom Lightroom now has a slideshow feature so you can display selected photos from your library in a slideshow format — a great way to share edits with clients, family, or friends. Performance, reliability, and workflow enhancements to Lightroom Classic We've also made the following improvements to Lightroom Classic, so that it performs smoothly and enables you to work more efficiently: - Improved cloud syncing: Images in your Lightroom Cloud will now more reliably match what you see in your Classic catalog and vice versa
- Smoother image navigation in Develop: We've improved the responsiveness and navigation experience in Develop along with better caching
- Optimized preview management: We have re-architected the way we generate and store previews, resulting in a much smoother experience
- Filter by exported images: You can now filter for files by their export status and create a smart collection showing what's been exported
- Search support for new metadata: We've introduced new capabilities to search and create smart collections by alt text, extended descriptions, and images edited with Remove or Point Color
Watch a Demo I created a video showing off these features that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/0VP7vhIfdYE We are also LIVE on Adobe Live starting at 9AM PT/12 Noon ET here: https://www.behance.net/live/videos/23345/From-Ordinary-to-Extraordinary-Live-Lightroom-Editing-with-Professional-Photographers Try out the new features from today. Lightroom for desktop can be downloaded via the Creative Cloud Desktop app. To learn more about these updates, check out the What's New pages for Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. Disclaimer: Generative Remove in Lightroom is available to all Creative Cloud members with a subscription or trial that includes Lightroom. Generative Remove is not available in China. Our commitment to AI ethics and principles Adobe is committed to developing AI in accordance with the company's AI Ethics principles of accountability, responsibility, and transparency. As AI becomes more prevalent in content creation, Adobe believes that it is important to provide consumers with transparency about its use in the creative process. A recent study from Adobe showed that 76% of U.S. consumers emphasized the importance of knowing if online content is generated using AI. When Generative Remove becomes generally available, Content Credentials will be automatically attached to photos edited with the feature in Lightroom. 2024.05.21 15:51 Born_Pomegranate1937 Client billing: how to do it effectively?
Effective client billing is essential for maintaining a successful business. Here are a few steps you can follow to help you
invoice clients effectively and maintain transparent relationship with your clients:
- Create detailed invoices with clear payment terms: Ensure your invoices include all necessary details such as itemized services, rates, payment terms, and due dates. A clear invoice with detailed payment terms reduces the chance of payment delays and disputes.
- Send invoices promptly: Deliver invoices immediately upon completing work to maintain cash flow and show professionalism. Delayed invoicing can result in delayed payments, affecting your business's financial health.
- Track payments: Use a reliable system to monitor payments and identify overdue invoices. This allows you to follow up efficiently and ensures you don’t miss any due payments.
- Process payments efficiently: Handle received payments swiftly using appropriate methods such as online payment gateways, which offer convenience and faster transactions.
- Utilize time tracking tools: Ensure accurate billing by tracking billable hours with tools like Bonsai, Harvest, Clockify or other. This helps in maintaining transparency and trust with clients, as they can see the exact amount of time spent on their projects.
- Follow up on unpaid invoices: Send polite reminders if payments are overdue. You can also use tools to automatically remind your clients about unpaid invoices and even set late payment fees.
Implementing these steps can streamline your billing process and ensure timely payments while maintaining honest client relationships.

2024.05.21 15:46 Eastern-Birthday2644 Discussion/Questions on Bugs
| Okay, so I've made a lot of posts here about various bugs I've had, but I kinda wanted to condense it and see if anything isn't a bug, and what I am confusing for a bug, just trying to get some input on what is actually wrong with my game so I know. So I'll just give a list of things that I'm trying to figure out, in order from my most annoying bugs to mildest bugs. If you want, please put some bugs you guys have had in the comments, just so we can pile in all of the games issues here, and have a discussion. - Most annoying bug is my battlefield of time. I get softlocked on the victory screen after floor 1 on either jinwoo or the hunters, it doesn't matter. This is by far the most annoying because I've done about as much troubleshooting I can to fix it, and it hasn't changed for over a week now, locking me out of a lot of good rewards. It's also the most annoying because this bug didn't happen when I first unlocked the battlefield of trial. I went through the first few floors initially and it worked fine, but now it's broken.
- This is annoying for everybody, the apparent loading screen that appears at every single step in the game for no reason. I feel this one explains itself, I've probably lost like an hour of irl time to these loading screens just because that's how the game works, and it's just a waste of time.
- This one is also extremely annoying, they all are, but this one might also be something I'm wrong about, which is why it's lower. In multiple random areas when I press on something I want to check, it pops up this text, saying I need to complete the introductory tutorial. Now, this could straightup be just a visual bug on things that are locked, like I've already confirmed that 2 of the times this message had popped up, it was because I didn't have a monthly pass, but it has happened in one other place that I'm stumped about. This is more of a question, but is the calendar locked out if you don't have the hunters pass? I don't have any sort of access to the calendar, and therefore it's rewards, because it's locked behind this tutorial message. I don't know if I'm missing out on rewards, or this is how it's supposed to be.
- This one is the one that has currently stumped me, and my annoyance is on a steady incline atm because of it. When you first play the game, on a brand new account, you eventually get access to a 3 day trial, which unlocks a lot of the game, and gives you a plethora of free rewards. On my main account, I claimed this on the day one release, on the 7th of May, and I didn't get anything for it. I tried to claim anything it said I could for those three days, and it said I needed the pass. I thought the trial was locking you out of rewards, but yesterday, I made a second account, and lo and behold, everything that's locked on my main account isn't locked here.. I get bonus activity funds, I get access to the calendar, which I never even had access to before, etc. It's really annoying knowing that this game locked me out of so many rewards that they gave to everybody, I don't understand why.
Those are my main bugs, if anybody has input on some of them, or can tell me that its not a bug, or can validate my annoyance, I'd appreciate it. I also have 3 pictures, one showing the calendar on my new account, and one showing the text when I try to enter the calendar on my main. Also one showing the victory screen I'm stuck on in the battlefield of time TLDR: ranting about bugs, and wanting input, also, feel free to comment about your bugs here as well, we can have a discussion if you feel like it. submitted by Eastern-Birthday2644 to SoloLevelingArise [link] [comments] |
2024.05.21 15:44 Dansco112 The Death of the Witness
The Death of the Witness by Joel Lane
Published and excerpted from
The Earth Wire (1994) by Joel Lane Around five in the morning, Sarah gave up trying to sleep. Thin sunlight reached through the bars across the window frame. She dressed and went out onto the balcony, which overlooked most of the estate. It was still chilly; the sun hadn't yet heated the dark pebble-dashed walls. There was a strange smell in the air, something like petrol or turpentine or white spirit. Sarah breathed in deeply. From the city centre, she could hear the vague hissing and scraping sounds of traffic. Nobody was visible in the courtyard, or anywhere on the grid of little roads that divided up the estate. When she looked down from the balcony, the side of the building tilted forward like a giant ship. With an effort, Sarah kept her feet and stepped back into the doorway. The sunlight flashed in her eyes like a camera; when she looked away, focusing on a place where she didn't normally look, she noticed the couple.
They were beyond the reinforced glass partition at the end of the walkway. They could have got there by climbing through the staircase window. Sarah walked up to the glass; they didn't seem to notice her. They were standing together, looking out into the tide of early morning light that glistened on their faces. A boy and a girl, no older than fourteen; both wearing T-shirts and ripped jeans. They were shivering. The boy was holding a Pyrex dish. Even from a distance, in the open air, Sarah could smell what they were smearing from it onto their hands, and onto each other's faces. Her vision blurred again, then came back into focus – as if she were watching two swimmers repeatedly break the surface of the water.
They were looking at her. Their eyes ate the sunlight. The girl reached up and peeled a scrap of pearl from the sky; she touched it onto the boy's face. They were painting each other with light. Sarah felt tears heating her eyes – prisms that broke and drained her, as though pain were only colours. The girl waved at her through the grid of wires in the glass. Still waving, she stepped to the edge of the parapet where there was no railing – and then crouched, tipping herself forward like a diver. Sarah didn't hear the sound the girl made when she hit the ground, seven floors below. She couldn't hear the traffic any more.
A few minutes later, the boy came out through the security door. He stumbled across the courtyard to the corner where the body lay, and knelt beside it for a while. Then he went back into the tower block, struggling with his key. An ambulance came silently a few minutes later. Two ment put the girl's body onto a stretcher and covered it. Standing on the balcony, Sarah watched until it was all over. The boy go into the back of the ambulance with the others. The engine started up, and the ambulance drove away. There was no siren. The iris-shaped smear of blood on the concrete paving grew darker as the sun climbed up the sky.

2024.05.21 15:44 The_A_Man__ (C)PTSD from watching online videos of police brutality and violence towards women?
Sick p0rn videos wherein dudes slap and punch women concussions are traumatizing, stories of domestic violence are traumatizing, but worse is stranger-violence on women (like the recent NYC trend of black psycho dude(s) punching white women randomly, with legal impunity), but the worst of the worst is police violence toward helpless defenceless women, and boy oh boy is there plenty in that category, and they too have legal impunity.
Makes one physically sick to think of how traumatized these women must have become of law-enforcers, of saying no (punching women if they resist arrest is very legal and encouraged and taugh to all cops as training), of touching strangers, of being drunk in public, of flirting with the wrong dude while drunk, of men in general, and even more sickening is the knowledge that they'd forever be brain-damaged and basically on a set path toward slow and painful death, and the most blood-boiling is the fact that these psychos never face any consequences.
Majority of cops are domestic abusers themselves, in fact, cops were the ones who resisted illegalizing domestic violence in the 80s the most when it was illegalized; majority of cops are psychopaths; there's literally no reason, none, zero, nil, whatsoever, to believe that cops serve the people, neither economical (they get their salaries regardless), nor judicial (cops effectively have impunity), nor moral (only psychos are attracted to job-openings for cops, the way things are).
Likewise, women who feel safe in public, in people's presence, assuming they're there to protect them, are wholly mistaken too; random street assaults on women are very legal, samaritans punished, and chivilry long dead.
Likewise, there's no reason for a woman to feel safe in a domestic setting either, because domestic violence is universally legal too (as in, the punishment for it is a slap of the wrist, if at all), and the numbers haven't changed much; it's still as prevelent as it was before.
Richard Wrangham's work on Chimps and human evol psychology is very disturbing and pessimistic too; there's literally no hope of things ever changing. Democracy is the root cause of all evil, but at least under it, there's the illusion that women are cared for and protected for, at least it sustains the fantasy of women being treated as first class citizens with basic human rights (all a lie); once the democratic house of cards built on fiat-fiasco collapses, like that Iranian girl-reddittor's prophesy, we'd be back to square one, the west would resemble the Islamic states like it did a few centuries ago, feminism would be long dead, feminists witch-hunted, and women would lose all their rights.
Trapped in a cycle of being angry, mad, sad, daydreaming of changing the laws, fixing the mess, realizing that it's never gonna happen, being depressed, feeling helpless, powerless, searching for some silver lining, binging on theoretical back-and-forth arguments, imagining an alternate society, daydreaming of changing the laws and fixing to mess to reach that alternate way of things, only to be depressed again, over and over and over.
If I could I would go undo all these memories, all this online trauma; funny that nude pics and videos are generally censored and blurred all over the internet, spoilers tagged and marked as such too, but these highly disturbing mentally traumatizing videos circulate mainstream freely as though a normal part of life, as though uncensored boobs are more dangerous to society than a sight of a woman punched and knocked out with her nose bleeding! Not surprising; we're descendants of psychopaths; most of kids' cartoon shows are pretty violent and vile too, and these kids are allowed and feel thrilled to watch boxing/wrestling matches, and with all this equal-rights-equal-fights nonsense, watching women knocked out by men is only a natural step forward; a sick desensitized society of psychopaths.
Regret is the worst feeling ever, and helplessness even worse... No way out; none.

2024.05.21 15:42 Emotional-Effect-374 Why I Think Sleeping on WhatsApp Marketing Is a Mistake - Part 2
In this post, I will address the issues raised by readers in the
previous post and discuss a cost-effective and ethical approach to growing your WhatsApp contact list for marketing purposes.
One commenter mentioned,
“Nope. Never used WhatsApp and never will. I don't need another app or service to text and call people...that's what my phone does! My clientele doesn't use it, why should I?” Here are some facts: Over 50 million companies globally use WhatsApp Business for marketing, and 54% of users prefer to receive marketing communications and order updates via WhatsApp.
Sources: Cooby ,
Statista. There is extensive information available on Google as well.
Another comment stated,
“You're forgetting that I simply don't want you messaging me on WhatsApp unless I give you my number.” Facts: Similar to SMS and email, nobody likes spam. WhatsApp is no different. You should block and report any number that sends unsolicited messages to you.
This brings us to today's topic:
How can businesses obtain opt-ins for WhatsApp marketing? Option 1: Create Click-to-WhatsApp Ads If you use social media to promote products or run marketing campaigns, it’s an ideal opportunity to encourage customers to connect with your business on WhatsApp. Offering a click-to-chat option in your ads provides an easy entry point for customers to start a conversation, ensuring you have their consent to interact and know how they found your business.
Here’s how to create such an ad:
[Create Ads That Click to WhatsApp] Option 2: Obtain Customer Opt-Ins During Support Interactions Add a WhatsApp Chat widget on your website using
Clickiny.com. After resolving a customer’s issue, ask if they’d like to receive future notifications and updates. If they agree, send a message outlining the type of notifications they can expect and ask them to confirm their opt-in.
Option 3: Use Pop-Ups You can collect opt-ins on your website using pop-ups, banners, or CTA snippets in locations that catch your customers’ attention. Clearly communicate the value and benefits of receiving notifications via WhatsApp, such as inspirations, new arrivals, and the latest discounts.
Tools like
OptinMonster.com or
Popupsmart can help you create these pop-ups.
Option 4: Ask for an Opt-In at Checkout Since customers can use WhatsApp to receive crucial notifications like order confirmations, boarding passes, and delivery updates, they are more likely to opt-in during the purchase process. This is particularly effective for retailers, airlines, and logistics companies. Include a checkbox for opt-in at various touchpoints, such as when entering billing or delivery information.
Best Practices to Boost Your WhatsApp Opt-In Rate To effectively increase your WhatsApp opt-in rate, consider the following strategies:
1. Highlight the Benefits: Clearly convey the advantages of receiving notifications and updates via WhatsApp. Make it evident how it adds value to the customer experience.
2. Respect Frequency: Avoid overloading customers with messages. Find a balance that keeps them informed without being intrusive.
3. Simplify the Opt-In Process: Ensure that the process to opt-in is straightforward and user-friendly. Minimize steps and make it easy for customers to sign up.
4. Integrate Seamlessly: Choose an opt-in method that fits naturally into your existing communication channels and business processes. This will make the transition smooth for both your business and your customers.
5. Provide Clear Opt-Out Instructions: Make sure customers know how to opt-out if they choose to, and promptly respect their requests. Transparency builds trust and reduces the likelihood of complaints.
By implementing these best practices, you can effectively grow your WhatsApp contact list while maintaining a positive relationship with your customers.

2024.05.21 15:35 revjaden I'm officially halfway to my goal weight! What are your guy's best cardio tips to really help burn calories? Feeling motivated :)
Some further context: (21M, 6'0) I've been on my weight loss journey the last couple of months, and I work a job where I get an average of 12,000 - 15,000 steps a day.
About 4 times a week (whenever I have enough energy to) I will go on a mile jog after work and keep my heart elevated by about 80 bpm higher than my resting rate.
I'm also intaking about 2100 - 2500 calories a day, with ~150g of protein, ~100g of fat, and ~200g of carbs.
Just looking for tips for anything extra I can do to supplement the weight loss journey.

2024.05.21 15:30 aegonthewwolf How Gambits S2 arc could set the stage for a major Rogue storyline - and prove why Beau DeMayo called them the OTP of the show.
https://preview.redd.it/j4f446u27s1d1.jpg?width=1040&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0225dbeca758851b9cb9af62db506856aa38f0e2 https://preview.redd.it/wauswzi57s1d1.jpg?width=1057&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5393c138ed957256a75b852a94fecbe56056efdd https://preview.redd.it/omizvt987s1d1.jpg?width=1058&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b79000e16978589a36df8e5e11b56904fbbfe2e https://preview.redd.it/amd1k6pa7s1d1.jpg?width=1054&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71ea8d70c3c543550feb4aa40337fc0ef2a3540a So I’m fairly sure everyone and their mother knows Gambit is coming back as Apocalypse's Horseman of Death, a la in the 2006 storyline Blood of Apocalypse. For those unfamiliar with that storyline, Apocalypse returns after a catastrophe for the mutant population (in the comics M-Day, which is substituted with Genosha in the show) and presents himself as the Mutant Savior. Gambit doesn’t buy it and agrees to volunteer as his Horseman of Death to spy on him for the X-Men , alas the transformation warps his mind and he goes bad. He is however liberated from Apocalypse's control, in part because he refuses to kill Rogue as he remembers he loves her.
However there’s a storyline that takes place after BOA that is of particular interest when it comes to Rogue: X-Men : Legacy Vol.1 - Salvage. This story, released 2 years after BOA, sees Rogue traverse the Australian outback. She is haunted by illusions of Mystique and Cody Robbins, as well as Danger, an A.I. embodiment of the software program used in the Danger Room. And Shi’ar pirates too, because why not.
In this story, it’s revealed that the reason Rogue cannot control her powers is when her powers manifested, it was an involuntary, traumatic action that caused her mind to wall off Cody Robbins’ persona (as he was the first personality she absorbed) and limit the natural development of her powers. Xavier believes that by breaking down these walls - formed each time Rogue significantly absorbed someone’s personality (namely Cody, Carol and Mystique) - her mind will be free to learn to control her powers.
Xavier enters Rogues mind and they are successful in breaking down the barriers. Rogue tests her control in the most scientific way possible - by sticking her tongue into Gambit's mouth, and nothing happens. Thus, Rogue finally had control over her powers.
This would be new ground for an adaptation of Rogue - never has she had any semblance of control in any medium outside of the comics, be it TV, movies, video games etc. It would be new ground for the character outside of the comics.
It would also be a massively significant step forward for the Rogue/Gambit relationship, given the only real barrier from them being together is Rogues fear of her powers. Liberating her from that fear would remove the final hurdle.

2024.05.21 15:23 HairyBalds My current rating on the game and ideas for improvement.
8/10.
Very good step in the right direction but definitely room for improvement. If I was king of Blizzard here is what I would change:
DIFFICULTY:
- Lower exp gain by ~10-15%. Leveling feels just a bit too fast for my taste.
- Slightly increase overall monster damage & health in World Tiers 2-4. Game feels a bit too easy In all non-pit activities. World Tier 1 should be the "easy" mode for that audience, not the whole game levels 1-100.
- Greatly increase World Boss damage and health in World Tiers 2-4. They get melted in ~5 seconds, very anti-climactic.
- Make the Capstone dungeons a little more challanging to complete. I easily cleared them while being ~15 levels underleveled, without focusing too much on my geaaspects.
- Make Profane Mindcages a permanent thing, and have them apply to ALL overworld activities. 3 different potions available to craft: 1) increase enemy levels by 10. 2) increase enemy levels by 25. 3) increase enemy levels by 50.
GAMEPLAY:
- More random mini bosses from previous Diablo games spawning in dungeons, like the Butcher. I'd like to see Blood Raven yell "join my army of the dead", summon some zombies and destroy me with an her bow & arrow.
- Add scattered prisms into the Legion loot chests. Nobody does legions anymore, but maybe this would make legions worthwhile when you're low on prisms.
SKILLS: - Slightly more robust skill tree. I understand that this game is marketed to a more casual audience, but we can do better than having ~2 modifications per active skill. I'd like each skill to branch out to 4 or 5 different variants... Like the "runes" on Diablo 3 that changed how your skill worked, we had 5 options per skill.
ITEMS:
- Improve the aspects on less used Uniques. The update was great, but lots of uniques are very bad compared to legendary now due to lack of tempering. Frostburn for example: "Lucky hit: up to 25% chance to freeze enemies" can be improved to "Lucky hit: up to 25% chance to freeze enemies. Deal 10% (x) more damage to frozen enemies." ...small changes to make these items somewhat usable.
- Set items (don't increase damage by 1000% like D3), but id like to chase sets that are usable but not super OP. I'd like cool auras/transmogs for completing the set. Tal Rasha/IK set Aura's were so cool in D2. Transforming into a vampire when you completed the Trang-Ouls set in D2 was so freaking cool as well. I'd like to see more stuff like that.
- Id like to see a new rare legendary item type called "Jeweler's helm" or "Jeweler's axe" etc.... they would have no aspects or affixs (except innate affixs) but they would drop with 2-6 sockets on them. This would lead to...
- RUNEWORDS! I'd like to be able to find ultra rare runes and put them into ideal "Jeweler's" bases with the right innate affixs and slot numbers and make cool Runewords. That is all :)
