2024.05.21 21:58 Worth-Piano6103 Would I (29F) be in the wrong to ask my sister (35F) not to bring her toddler to my Las Vegas elopement? How can I best communicate this to her without hurting her feelings?
Hi all!
I am planning to elope with my fiancé next year. It's not a traditional elopement - we intend on bringing our parents, and I've extended the invite to my sister and her husband as well. We really want a small, no-fuss, fun, easy trip that will be a funny memory to share. The trip will be about 4 days long.
For context, we're doing a dinner party in our hometown the week before that will be the 'reception'. It is more of a traditional reception. We're expecting 150 people, renting out a restaurant and providing the food, etc. It's really for my in-laws - my fiancé has a big family that really wanted to do a celebration, so we figured why not.
I made it clear to my sister from the get go that although I wanted her to come to Vegas, there was NO pressure for her to come. The real 'party' will be the week before in any event with the whole family. I made a point of emphasizing this because I know that it's an expensive trip (just flights and hotels will be about $2k a couple), they just bought a house, and they aren't super well off. I find it tacky to ask for this much money from family, and for that reason I feel very fortunate to be able to pay for my parents' trip, but I unfortunately can't afford to extend that offer to my sister. She's aware of this. I could maybe help out with her flight costs, but wouldn't be able to pay for her husband, so I haven't even brought it up because I felt like it was an unfair offer.
Now... we were talking about this recently and she started mentioning that she was picturing bringing her baby to the elopement. She was saying it will be a shame that the baby can't fly for free (baby will be 2 by the time we go on the trip), that baby would be well behaved, we wouldn't have to worry about it, etc. I glossed over it in the moment, because honestly, I never thought that was on the table. I figured she would never want to bring a toddler to Vegas, and if she came, she would be leaving the kid at home with her husband. I was shocked that we were on different pages there, but it's on me for not having communicated appropriately.
I've been thinking it over, and I firmly do not want the toddler there. This isn't a kid-friendly trip - we'll be going out to dinners, bars, casinos, maybe even a gun range (hey, it's Vegas). I just want to get married and have a fun trip and be spontaneous. I don't want to deal with the logistics of a toddler. We'll be such a small group that I think it will really change the dynamics. When there's a toddler involved, of course you need to accommodate them - and frankly, I don't want to. I also don't want my sister paying for this trip and then sitting in her hotel room with the toddler. My sister has options here - she can leave the toddler with her husband (I don't think the husband has offered this. Or she doesn't trust him. Which is a whole other thing...), ask her in-laws to take care, or simply not come!
Rant aside - what is the best way to deliver this message to her? Am I totally missing that I'm being a jerk here? How should I best communicate that I don't want the baby there, without starting WW3??
TL;DR: my sister wants to bring her toddler to Vegas for my elopement/mini wedding. I don't want the toddler there, and want advice on whether I'm being a jerk - and if not, how best to talk to her about this.

2024.05.21 21:33 mrpessimistik SN.
SN. Tough as nails. Born in a poor family, SN learned to fight. SN always speaks his/her mind, no matter what. Is a bit naive and daydreamer. Became a prosecutor. Married VD. Some of his/her deeds:
--- Called the cops because he/she didn't see neighbors getting out of their house for two days.
--- Stole a military aircraft and battled enemy invaders(when his/her country was attacked).
---- Barged into a news set because he/she didn't like what the guests were saying about his/her family's history.
---- Walked 5 hours on foot to bring food to some poor people he/she met online. Turned out they were scammers. They later got arrested.
---- Called the cops because he/she thought the new neighbors were drug dealers since they were always carrying suitcases and were well-dressed. Turned out they were something worse: Terrorists planning to bomb a train.
---- During a flood, helped many people by using a boat.
SN became a prosecutor. Well respected. Loyal. Always upholding the law. Met VD and got married. Together, they now own multiple business ventures, including a famous chain of hotels and casinos.
Has a great sense of humor, but doesn't joke very often.
Note: This is the first in a series about my fictional, paracosm characters. By writing this down, it will help me better understand my characters and imagine/daydream better interactions... :)

2024.05.21 21:06 CampingWorld What Are The Best RV Trips for Beginners?
There’s a lot to learn when you’re new to RVing. After purchasing your RV and equipping it with the right gear, the last thing you want is to feel overwhelmed trying to select where to camp. So we asked the question: what are the best RV trips for beginners?
Of course, we have our own opinions, but we wanted to see what the RV community felt. We asked experienced RVers which destinations or campgrounds they would recommend for beginners. With over 150 replies, here are the top five answers:
- Somewhere close to home
- State parks
- Good Sam Campgrounds
- Your backyard
- National parks
(Runner-up: Wal-Mart parking lot).
Why Stay Close to Home on Your First RV Trip as a Beginner?
The overwhelming majority of experienced RVers recommended sticking to somewhere close to home as a beginner. Their reasons were practical:
- You know where to go (home or familiar stores) if you forget supplies.
- You’re not far from your community if you need help.
- If something breaks down, towing your RV back to your house won't take long or cost too much.
- You do less driving and more time getting familiar with your RV.
- You won’t hurt your wallet on gas expenses if you overpack (which most first-timers do!)
Boondocking in your backyard is a great way to
learn about your RV and its systems. Just remember: Depending on your RV, you’ll need potable water, a way to empty your holding tanks, and a proper power supply –
30 or 50 amps.
Which Locations Make For The Best RV Trips for Beginners?
We collected specific recommendations for those who want to venture out while staying close to home. These came directly from experienced RVers nationwide who were willing to share their favorite destinations for RV newbies.
Because we don’t know where home is for you, we organized this list of the best RV trips for beginners and organized them by region.

2024.05.21 20:52 BeLikeWater777 Alcohol at Crew Dinners?
I am a producer and we have a great crew that come together multiple times per year, so we are like family and all know and love each other. On our first jobs together, everyone was professional and didn't order alcohol, maybe 1 drink max at dinners if that. After a few years, our crew members are now ordering many drinks at dinner, buying cases of beer on the production then taking it home, leaving for hours the night before a big production day to a casino and drinking a lot, etc. It really bothers me because alcohol affects your performance the next day (we had a crew member mess up but it was not catastrophic luckily) and they are also ordering tons of food that gets thrown away and uneaten or donated to the hotel staff. It is starting to bother me that they are taking advantage of our company and ordering way more than necessary, including alcohol, taking beer bought by the company home, and also having their performance suffer the next day. I am trying to make production fun and something to look forward to, but this has gone too far.
How do you recommend I handle this? Should I implement a policy where we do not pay for any alcohol or max 1 drink per person at dinners only, tell the other producer to not order too much food, I don't want to be lame but I also feel uncomfortable with how far all this has gone at this point.

2024.05.21 20:52 Sarcasmsmyname1 Needing an opinion
Hello, My (57f) husband (64m) have been together for 15 years. We’ve been married for almost 4. It was something we talked about (getting married) for awhile and when my mom was diagnosed with cancer, we decided to get married before she passed. She passed two days after we got married. Last year for my birthday, we went to stay at a hotel/casino. We were having a great time, went back to the room after some drinks and hot tub time, I asked him something he responded with whatever. I HATE that word, I’ve told him so many times I hate it. Well, I told him again how much I hate that he uses that word, he said if you hate me so much maybe we should get divorced. I was shocked and floored. I packed up my stuff and said I’m leaving, you can come with me or stay here, I don’t care. We left together. Got home and the next day he said that he didn’t want to get divorced and I need to get over it. It’s been over a year and I can’t forget what he said. This year, he didn’t even get me a card for my birthday. I’ve been in therapy from losing my parents so close together and now therapy is mostly about us. I’ve tried and tried, he doesn’t do anything, no card, no flowers, no sign of any kind that he’s sorry. We recently were talking and I asked if he’d go to therapy he said no, I said to save this marriage you won’t go to therapy he said he didn’t know what he wanted. The next morning, I packed a bag and went to a friends for the weekend. When I was leaving, he was screaming at me and telling me I was running away. I returned after the weekend, we talked about nothing, went to bed that night and I asked if he decided what he wanted he said this right here. I can honestly say that I don’t know if I want to be here any longer, I just don’t know if I should leave. He tells me every day he loves me. He did that before he said divorce and every day after. I want to do what’s right, I love him, but how many chances does someone get to hurt you before you say it’s enough? Why can’t I “let it go”?

Taxi back to the ship where we showered and hung out on the balcony. Formal night and we went to Chops Grill where I had the best Fillet of my life. Bed
For taxi it was $15 a person one way and $6 pp to get into the beach. Total spent $82 with tip.
Day6 – Thursday St. Maarten
Parking Café for Breakfast and Coffee. Drank Coffee in promenade for dock in.
Then we walked to the excursion. Excursion – Captain Bobs, 15 min walk from the boat where we checked in with Captain Brett I will no spoil the excursion as there are thousands of good reviews on trip adviser, I can’t say more than good things it was worth the money as it was the highlight of the entire trip.

Taste of Royal at 150, Upset that it was not wonderland as was posted. Meals were underrated and the time in between courses was 20+ min long very boring. Also, wine pairing is extra $. Took over 2 hours.
Casino to check things out. Hang out on balcony then Dinner MDR, Casino and left happy with some winnings, pool rest of the night. Hit the solarium and we were the only 2 people in the pool with a full ship, met up with new friends we made to say goodbye. Back to room to pack.
Day9 – Sunday Disembark
Woke up 545. Both showered. Breakfast at Solarium Bistro, off the boat with our bags at 730. We chose to self-disembark to not deal with the hassle of finding out bags to walked straight to GO Port to bring us back to MCO
bus left and picked more people up at Carnival Mardigras, off to MCO. By the time we got through security at gate C and relax, it was 930… flight was delayed till 4..
Some Facts-
We did have the drink package and we always had a drink in our hands.
Yes, a lot of room time as it was a good way to get away from the crowds.
This was my second cruise but first as an adult.
A lot of Solarium time to stay away from the kids so I have no complaints about them as other people have.
Food everywhere I had Sorrento’s and hot dogs whenever we passed.
I miss that blue water so
Biggest Complaint would have to the older generation, They complaint the most and were the rudest people Ive ever seen.
for MDR we had Ivan and his assistant Agus (who was on his first week) and they were amazing and made us laugh everynight.
food was good everywhere, idk why everyone complains there when i dont have to cook it and its all handed to me.
5 stars across the board

2024.05.21 14:29 Wambsgams20 Best time to book and recommendations
Hey Vegas Reddit!
Really love the recs this page makes! Here's my situation: My 65 year old dad has never been to Vegas, but it's on his bucket list. He's a die hard browns fan, so I'm taking him out for the game in September for his first trip! I got the tickets for the football game already but now looking at hotels.
My dad is on a fixed income, so he will be uncomfortable if I book a place like the Wynn or the Venetian since I'm paying for the trip (Wynn is usually where I would take the wife lol). I'm looking for a decent resort that's either has 3/2 blackjack at lower price per hand for dad or there's a casino close by that has it. Was considering the Horseshoe (I know Caesars is a terrible gamble anymore) or TI. I'm very open to downtown as well (though prices at The Circa are insane for that date but makes sense with football season starting) Also should I book now or closer to game in September? TIA, really excited to spend this weekend with my dad!

2024.05.21 07:28 OverUnderATS Ohio Man wins $362K while celebrating 21st birthday in Las Vegas
A man from Ohio will remember his 21st birthday for years to come, and not just because he reached the legal drinking age.
Damon Howell, a resident of Union City, about 147 miles south of Toledo, won a life-changing $362,640 jackpot while celebrating his birthday in Las Vegas. The 21-year-old won the haul while playing the Ultimate Texas Hold'em at The LINQ Hotel + Experience on May 10, according to a press release from Caesars, which owns the hotel.
Howell was playing the game for half an hour before winning the prize, the release said.
In complete shock, the game that was being played for fun while surrounded by family and friends quickly turned into a bigger birthday celebration than Howell had anticipated.
When asked what he’d plan to do with his $362,640 jackpot Howell said he's "too young to figure out.”
But after giving it some thought, Howell said he plans to buy a house with his winnings.
You can read more about it in this
Casino.org article that was published yesterday.

2024.05.21 06:30 mpelleg459 Best hotel for a couple on a Sunday?
I’ll be in town solo for a couple of days before my SO joins me and I’m thinking of ditching my fairly mid hotel where I’ll be solo for something nicer, given the dip in rates that Sunday. First time in LV for me, 40ish guy wanting a nice room, hopefully a view, general wow factor, not overly tacky, and a good pool scene that isn’t dominated by inescapable EDM. Bonus if there’s a celebration worthy restaurant on site, but the least important factor as well be out at night anyway, I’d imagine. (I don’t ask for much, ha). Probably won’t spend much time if any in the casino. The Fontainebleau caught my eye, being new, and the pool looks really impressive. Virgin looks great too, but I feel overwhelmed by options.

2024.05.21 05:31 unduhsun Phone Stolen at Circuit Grounds VIP Entrance During Dom Dolla Set - Anyone Else?
| Hey everyone, unfortunately my iPhone was stolen Saturday night at EDC right as I was entering the VIP area for Circuit Grounds at the beginning of Dom Dolla's set, around 1am. There was a suspicious group of 5-7 people clustered right under the VIP entrance arch, basically blocking the way and forcing people to squeeze by them. When I tried to pass through, one of the guys intentionally bumped into me hard and moments later I realized my phone was gone from my pocket. As soon as I turned around, the sketchy group had scattered and seemed to exit the VIP area - I think one of the security guards may have escorted them out the side but I'm not sure. Weirdly, the thieves have somehow prevented my phone from connecting to the internet or the Find My network since then, even though it still has an active cellular plan. It wasn't pingable at all from 3am Sunday until 8pm Monday. I'm guessing they store the stolen phones in some kind of container that blocks all wireless signals. However, I just got a ping that my phone was located at the Arizona Charlie's Decatur Hotel and Casino in Vegas. Has anyone else tracked their stolen phone to this same location? Trying to piece this together and figure out next steps. Thanks fam, stay safe out there! https://preview.redd.it/ro8av1119p1d1.png?width=2580&format=png&auto=webp&s=f898971c6a30fc99c8ec3bf162063fbe8b0b0a95 submitted by unduhsun to electricdaisycarnival [link] [comments] |

2024.05.20 23:37 Big_Cap_7368 Doing it all over again
Same old stuff I'm sure you guys hear but could use some messages of strength and encouragement.
I'll share as much as possible without boring you too much.
I started gambling at the age of 11 on a game called habbo Hotel.. you could gamble your items vs someone else's items and I recall that's where it all started. This all progressed onto another game called runescape - same idea you vs someone for stuff - win great.. lose do it again until you have nothing.
Fast forward to 17 and a big horse racing event is on and I get my first paycheck at a new job... I it's a big thing to have a "punt" on this horse racing event so I went to a bookmakers on my own and selected a few random horses based on names I like + the jockeys name. The race happens and all mine lose, but the winner of the race shared the same name as me and I was totally gutted I didn't pick it. I end up stuck on roulette machines until I'm 20 years old losing 10s of thousands in the process until I needed signifcant surgery on an organ and ended up quitting for about 3 years.
I then find "Matched Betting" which is basically utilising free bets and offers from online casinos and bookies to slowly grind and earn some money... Well I was enjoying that until I decided to have a bet outside of the matched betting process before I know it I'm gambling £500 on tennis serves... fast forward maybe a year and a half and iv lost more than £30,000 maxed out every credit card broke up with my partner and was fucked... took some time out ot work to deal with the depression and stopped gambling from say 24/25 to 26/27 where it came back with a vengeance all paid off credit cards wiped all bank accounts wiped crypto I had saved wiped and even borrowed 5k because I " owed some bad people money " this was from my "ex" partner who I had a child with... anyway I had to fess up and tell her everything which killed me she never knew anything.
I took 3 months off work because I was utterly depressed and couldn't leave my flat... my "ex" helped me find the courage to return which I did and knuckled down. I ended up having my most successful year in sales ever due to the determination and crossed the 100k pre tax earnings which was huge. I move in with my ex we have a baby it's all good until I relapse again during covid... We move on I go without gambling up until last week.
Last week I lost £16,000 gambling on lootbox/crypto sites as iv banned myself from all bookmakers and casinos... I couldn't stop.my self I generally can't... it started with £200 I cashed put £400 then I'm back in and before I know it over the last week lost 16k and I cannot stop. I have 68k saved up and I know I'm just going to eat more into that.... I have two children now with my "Ex" who I am engaged to and own a house with now and I am expecting my 3rd child.. I really don't want to lose more I really don't... I just can't help myself.... iv zapped all motivation and buzz all drive and csnt bring myself to go to the gym I'm out of routine and know exactly where this ends up.
I just don't know how to stop until its all gone and in an odd way once it's all gone it's like a relief.
Please anyone in here any help will be great.

2024.05.20 21:21 Emberisk Would a Star Wars Casino Work?
I feel like a lot of the things that worked in the Star Wars Hotel experience would be dope in a casino. Mainly the Dining experience and the performance experiences
I feel like you can keep the dinner show, themed cocktails and food. You can have this bright space themed environment in Casino format. Vegas already is a place where you kinda lose yourself in the spectacle of everything and there’s already this expected activity that you’re going to do. Also since the pretty spaceships are always evil you could make an evil guy run it. Like Jabba the Hutt. He seems like a casino kinda guy.(I am not a Star Wars fan maybe he’s not a casino kinda guy)
Disney would probably never go for it because it wouldn’t appeal to kids and that’s their target demographic for basically everything they do but I think you could easily charge stupid prices for a StarWars Casino Hotel and it would be a good experience
I think the for profit LARP they went for isn’t exactly feasible.
Edit: I do not mean repurposing the existing structure into a Casino. I mean Disney should use their massive amounts of money and make a Star Wars Themed Casino and Hotel in Vegas because it would be cool using some of the ideas from the StarCruiser. It would never happen but it would be cool in my opinion.

2024.05.20 19:27 FanLongjumping4300 My experience at El Cortez Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas and the standard shuttle from the Downtown lot
This was my experience staying at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas and taking the standard shuttle from the downtown lot on days 1 and 2 (I didn't stay for day 3).
The room I stayed in felt surprisingly fresh. It also had a refrigerator, which was nice for keeping some cool drinks.
The walk from the hotel to the shuttle lot was a quick 5-minute walk.
There were no lines for the standard shuttles at the downtown lot on either night. On Friday night, my shuttle departed at 8:41 PM and arrived at 9:57 PM, for a total trip time of 76 minutes. There was a long backup of buses leading into the drop-off area, which caused a longer-than-expected trip time. On Saturday night, the shuttle departed at 8:37 PM and arrived at 9:30 PM, for a total trip time of 53 minutes. There was no backup the second night.

2024.05.20 19:13 Tall-Jeweler3353 Ideal walking path from Flamingo to Sphere or Venetian?
For any locals, or those who have now stayed at Flamingo for a show...what's the ideal walking path to get to the show, or the Venetian? Wondering if taking the train one stop up is useful, or if there is a more straightforward way to get there leaving from the non-strip side of the hotel? Or is it even possibly easier to walk up the strip while weaving in and out of casinos along the way?
Or maybe the blue path on Google Maps is the way to go? Seems mostly A/C until you get near the High Roller?
Or is there no sensible way to make the one mile trek because it's just too damn hot even walking from High Roller to Sphere?
Trying to get the best sense of easy paths between the two places. Thanks in advance!!
