A mod that makes car seat storage bigger?

2024.05.21 10:28 sayjiiq A mod that makes car seat storage bigger?

Been playing as a Nomad with really low loot spawn but I feel like it's not enough when I play with RV Interiors mod because it makes night too safe from sound and helicopter events.
But I would need an extra storage if I'm gonna remove my use of Interiors. I'm thinking of a mod that makes storage bigger when a car seat is removed. I looked it up and saw a post that it was still a feature in b31 but I guess it was removed.
If anyone has a recommendation related to vehicle storage or anything that improves Nomad playthrough in general, feel free to suggest.

2024.05.21 09:29 PupilOfTheNight Eager aspiring angler in dire need of some direction from other PNW anglers as to what base gear I need to get started fishing out of my Tucktec folding kayak on the lakes and streams on the coast of WA/OR border and surrounding areas! (Clatsop/Chinook)

Hey folks! I'm wanted to make this short but I have everything to learn, and admittedly very little knowledge or experience despite all of the self-research through consuming tons of content on Kayak Fishing and PNW Fishing and want to be very clear on what it is I am asking for in terms of guidance/recommendations!
Bless those of you that can manage to stick w/ me!
I haven't fished since I was a young kid with my grandfather - that was over 20 years ago so let's just assume I have no real bearing on what I'm doing or where to begin.
I live on the WA/OR border where the Columbia meets the Pacific and am looking to get myself setup with my first rod and tackle as I'd like to start fishing the local lakes and estuaries around me.
These are the circumstances that will affect my gear choices: 1.) My locale - Living at the literal mouth of the Columbia River (Astoria/Hammond, OR up to Ilwaco/Long Beach, WA and the surrounding areas) offers me a slew of bangers when it comes to the native fish and waterways being that there are streams, rivers, lakes, ocean, saltwater, freshwater, brackish water - blah, blah, blah - everything all at once. It's exciting, but overwhelming - with each new thing I learn, I realize how much more there is to find out. 2.) The primary use case for the gear I'm currently seeking is to fish from my Tucktec folding kayak, and ideally being able to accommodate a secondary use case of being able to pack in my rod and tackle on quick jaunts to more secluded waters in the area - I'm aware this may be where I just don't get to have the best of both worlds and may have to choose between the ability to pack it down and strap it to the side of my pack to bushwhack with and having it be an ideal rod for kayaking. I really just want to be able to grab my rod and tackle, get in my car, and be able to hop out with what I've got w/ me whenever I find myself in an area w/ a nice fishing spot that is accessible by foot or boat and just go!
I have seen some general recommendations of using around a 6.5'-8' rod on a kayak, and I most often see a 7' rod recommended - w/ the caveat of potentially adding a little length going up to 8' if fishing saltwater - given my locale, its really hard to say if I'll be in fresh, salt, or brackish water at any given time w/ all the coast, estuaries and lakes at my disposal it could really go any way. Even if I'm not kayaking out in the actual open waters of the Columbia, smaller estuaries that I might find myself in have that brackish water that I'm unsure whether to treat as fresh or saltwater when selecting gear.
Do I overcompensate as a foolproofing/failsafe measure and treat it like I'm generally fishing saltwater to handle the larger fish I'd encounter in those estuaries, or actual ocean if I'm on foot on the Washington side? Or do I go in with the intention of using a dedicated lake setup for fishing Bass, Steelhead and the smaller panfish that I'd encounter fishing Coffenbury Lake, Cullaby Lake, and other contained bodies of water and accept the fact that much like motorcycling, an "all-'rounder" or "dual sport" is more often than not underperforming and disappointing whether you're on the interstate or off the beaten path and one is usually better off just having dedicated bikes for dirt and street to really get that dialed in performance, rather than getting the worst of both worlds in one place. If that is in fact that case, then I guess I'm on the hunt for TWO rod/reel combos. One for fishing the local freshwater lakes, and a second for fishing the brackish water on the banks and estuaries.
I am trying my best to learn, but I don't know a lot about whats what seasonally as far as fishing goes, I just know prime time for bass fishing was a few months ago as its getting warmer now. Tips on what I should be looking to fish for NOW and in the coming summefall months in this region would be greatly appreciated, I'm so eager to learn!
I know gear is subjective, and that if I take to angling I'll end up amassing a ton of it for the changing seasons and types of fishing I take a shine to, and let's be honest, just for the hell of it. Right now, though? I just want to get myself a daily driver so that I can stop pulling my hair out researching and GET OUT ON THE WATER ALREADY!
The goal is just to have enough fun in the process to not get discouraged from learning the art of angling, as I'd like it to become a staple source of communion with nature and a still chamber for reflection in my day-to-day life. I don't have any fishing buddies to offer moral support or get tips in this field, and I don't want to get myself in over my head and end up discouraged w/ gear that just sits gathering dust!
OH, and lastly on the note of the general 7' recommendation for kayak fishing, that seems to be a fairly universal ballpark on length, but I stumbled across Emmrod fishing rods - specifically the Emmrod Kayak King and the Emrod Packrod - they're funky little guys but they look bombproof, stowable, have swappable rod ends and they even have a model called the Kayak King - its only 27" assembled, half that packed, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Emmrod rods as they honestly look like they'd fit the bill for both kayaking and packing in to secluded lakes and streams for me PERFECTLY, but they go against most of what I've gleaned about kayak fishing so far being a whole 5' shy of 7' and I worry that I'm just falling blindly for the idea of the Emmrod because it's unlike anything I've ever seen in the sea of other rods I'm trying to take my pick from, and on paper it says its exactly what I'm looking for and has swappable parts making it pique my interest that much more as I just love modular systems. Someone please, SOUND OFF!
So, tell me what rod/reel YOU'D go for. Tell me why I should not get the Emmrod and get a normal rod like a normal person, or better yet, tell me about your experience with the Emmrod and why it'd be perfect for me after all! Emmrod aside, all recommendations and tips for fishing this incredible area and what gear is going to make it an enjoyable experience for me and the fish I meet is welcomed and encouraged!
Thanks to anyone who made it this far and has any advice to offer, maybe I'll see you out there!

2024.05.21 06:57 KnightTrader16 Truth or Dare?

Well, for kicks I tried the $16.50/hr in one hot spot, knowing I would get the crappiest of the orders imaginable. But with me making about $10/hour every day I work 7 hours, I figured WTF.
Did 2 orders, made $10 really quick, in about 40 minutes. Then on the third, picked up a bag of dog food from PetCo. Now, this is what killed me.
The delivery address was off some backroad I use to go to/from my old job, to avert interstate traffic. When I pulled into their driveway, I was driving towards a large brick, nicely built house, to me looked like a mansion valued at over $2M. With a circular driveway containing a figure piece. And they must have had at least 100 acres. So when I found out they didn’t tip, I immediately returned back to my dashing hotspot, as I was angry and blown away, that people which such assets, can’t spare $2 to $5 delivery driver tip to drive out 5 miles from a store? I can understand peeps who can’t afford paying tips, but then again, if someone can’t afford or are not willing to tip, they shouldn’t be allowed to use DoorDash services.

2024.05.21 04:40 hardcherry- Feedback for new setup/Ecoflow new to system

Hi DIY’ers
I am soliciting feedback for my setup. Getting ready to spend a couple of weeks in west Texas on my property. I do have shore power - but will be testing my boon-docking system properly.
This is a 12v system.
3x100w solar panels - highest daily power so far - 490 wh
2x litime 12v 230ah batteries
1 victron 100/30 MPPT
1 victron phoenix 12v/1200 inverter
1x Ecoflow River Max Pro
1x Ecoflow alternatoinverter 800w
1x Ecoflow Wave 2 + Battery
The original (re)build of my vintage Airstream has only minimal services connected to the battery system through the main electrical service panel. Lights, water pump, bathroom fan.
I could use my phoenix 1200 a/c inverter to power my refrigerator & small appliances ( laptop, monitor, hub, modem, phone) as this was added later and is connected to my litime batteries. ( not sure if this is causing a weird loop but I don’t think so? )
The wave 2 unit sits outside at the back of the Airstream and vents into the space using ducting which came with the unit and with the foam insert ( 1 intake 1 exhaust) I created my own single intake vent into the living area. Full disclosure I can’t sleep with the noise from the Coleman a/c unit which is installed but I can run it during the day off of shore power. I do prefer the Wave 2 since it’s is outside and noise is minimal. It also blows very cold on Max.
Upgrades to Wave 2;
6” duct around the ecoflow intake vent to cut down on condensation.
5” variable vent fan pointed at my face.
2 WooZoo fans from Costco that I can’t live without.
I intend to charge the wave 2 battery using the ecoflow alternator while driving- but switch to solar or battery backup during the day boon-docking via an xt60-battery terminal connection.
Questions: what would I need in order to distribute solar power directly to the Wave2 AND the 2x 230ah batteries? Additionally I would want to swap the Wave 2 to use the onboard batteries for overnight a/c.
Any input is welcome and appreciated. What more am I missing? I do understand the basic notion of solar charge- battery storage- battery drain - but really require “real world” results to truly understand my system and what it can accomplish.
I am wondering if it would it be bettemore practical to add an Ecowave Glacier to my system- rather than try and run a smallish 12v refrigerator ( already included in the Airstream)
Thanks

2024.05.21 02:59 RICoder72 Keystone Outback 335cg

I've been digging through the sub and seeing what people have to say about different brands. That said I'm have a really hard time finding a towable toy hauler at or under the 11k weight mark that I truly love and doesn't get crapped on by everyone for being cheap.
I dont want a garbage RV, I want quality (in the RV world, I understand they have to be light and mobile). It seems Forrest River gets slammed by everyone. What about Keystone? The 335CG is exactly the sort of layout I'm looking for although the garage could be bigger.
I'm in no hurry, but I want something I won't regret buying. If it helps, this is for my family to use for motocross. I'll take any and all advice. TIA.

2024.05.21 01:59 Careless-Dog-1829 RV or shipping container as an ADU

Has anyone had any experience with using an RV or a sipping container as a ADU on your own property. This is assuming occupants would have access to the main house for bathroom and kitchen. Did you run into problems with the city or neighbors?
I’m thinking about this for family members or renting the main house as rooms and living in the ADU/RV

  • Extra-strength formula. The hydro-water mix increases the peppermint repellent power and the cinnamon sting prevents mice from chewing. Creates a dry-spray barrier against rodent invasions. It leaves a fresh scent and acts as an air freshener. Works best indoors
  • Deter mouse and rats from chewing on wiring and building nets in your home, shop, RV, machinery, stored vehicles, boat/car storage. The water-based repelling formula spreads faster and leaves no stains. Use it in areas too large or too small for pouches
  • Shake before use. Spray one coat of repellent on or along the dry surface or wiring until wet. Wait until dry and spray again. Rodents will run through and chew the dried residual or get repellent on their paws. Re-apply if area becomes wet, dusty or hot
  • Keep away from children. Store the original, closed container in a cool, dry area, away from direct sun or excess heat. Protect from freezing. Empty the non-refillable container for recycling if available, otherwise discard in trash

2024.05.21 00:49 fourzerofourdoge Great American RV Superstores - A Great Way to Wreck Your Credit Score [And receive terrible post-purchase service.]

I don't like badmouthing businesses. I have run one for many years and it's rough. You can never please everyone all the time, and it absolutely kills me emotionally (though perhaps it shouldn't) to have an unsatisfied customer.
But I must tell others about this so that perhaps they can be spared the financial and emotional frustration that this dealership has caused us, and likely will continue to cause us.
This is a companion post to my post in CreditScore , but will focus more on our experience with the dealership than the impact to our credit scores.
My story begins as follows:
We bought a travel trailer a bit ago. It's been nearly a month now since our first interaction with the dealership, Great American RV Superstores.
We went to this dealership (one of many, actually) looking for a travel trailer that would suit our needs well, with as little modifications as possible-- I'm busy, and wanted to use the thing for vacations and such, not have another project to work on.
The sales experience was fine. The salesman was happy to show us around, offer us drinks, tell us about the travel trailers they had, even show us ones that were kind of outside of our intended scope just since we were curious about them. Very reasonable experience, overall. I have to temper my expectations here, since my partner and I absolutely hate interacting with strangers in a sales environment. Overall it was fine, though I do feel sales was pushy, and financing (which we'll get to in a moment) even more so.
Over the course of a week or so, we eventually came back and settled on a Jayco trailer they had-- it was mostly what we wanted and would need the least modifications to be what we wanted to become our 'dream RV' for what I felt was a reasonable price, compared to building the entire thing from the ground up out of a utility trailer shell-- it would even be cheaper, not to mention save me time.
This is unfortunately the end of the 'good' part.
We figured we'd put the trailer on credit for a month or so while we sold off some stuff, avoided early withdrawal penalties, etc.. I did the math, it would be cheaper like this than paying fees to move money faster, and we wanted the trailer for an upcoming trip.
Excited, we gave them a deposit [they accepted a credit card for this] of $1000.
Now, they originally tried to request $5000, and I looked at them like they were nuts. That's more than 20% the purchase price. The deposit on my truck wasn't anywhere near that much, despite having a much higher sticker price than the trailer. This should have been my first red flag.
We came back the next day (we had stuff on our schedule, literally did not have time for 2 hours of paperwork that I was confident would ensue).
The dealership did not want to take a credit card for the non-cash portion, which I understand but was kind of annoying. It's not that much, and I can't just bounce a check or credit card charge on a registered vehicle and just get away and get to keep the thing-- It's not like you can hide an RV trailer that well; the thing is nearly 30 feet long.
No worries, they said they could offer financing, and all it'd cost me was one credit pull. The salesman and financing manager went away, and came back a few minutes (well, ~20 minutes) later.
There was, at that point, as they said, a credit pull for both me and my partner.
They came back with an insane interest rate, something like 19%. I told them that I wouldn't sign something so insane, and we'd come back later in a few weeks or so and buy the RV if it was still available in cash, no financing. This should have been my second red flag, but of course, me being bad at and stressed during social interactions, I ignored this one, too.
They really didn't like the idea of us not buying the thing asap (duh), and said they could see about getting us a better rate. I told them that if they wanted to offer something else, to just call me. [Important, no additional papers, etc. were signed at this point. I did not sign any 'loan application' papers.]
The next day they came back with an offer for an interest rate of about half that, which while still bad imho, was fine enough and within the realm of reason given what interest rates are right now.
We went back to sign the paperwork... more problems ensued.
We drove ~1 hour to get there, and waited for like 2 hours, and then they told us they could not get us the paperwork to sign as the bank was closed, so we'd have to come back the following week.
What. The. F***.
Now, I understand that this is not common perhaps, but I assume more common for people buying RVs-- our time is very valuable, and I don't mean just in terms of what we bill people (though, that too in a lot of cases). We're short on time, have too much we need to get done almost always, and wasting an hour or so of our time in an area with basically no cellphone reception and being unable to accomplish any work or spend this time effectively on something we wanted is not something we were pleased with, and has a very real dollar cost for us. We effectively wasted 4 hours of both our time going there, waiting, and driving back-- 8 man-hours for what? Nothing.
Regardless of our over-inflated time valuation, I don't think anyone should have their time wasted like this. We would not require this of a customer of ours, regardless of their salary or status, it's just disrespectful.
This should have been our third red flag.
Anyways, we were promised a $200 gift card and they seemed genuinely apologetic, saying their head finance manager was out today and they were doing their best to carry on without them, and had just been unaware that the bank was closed at that point and thus couldn't produce the documents.
Okay. Fine. We left again.
We returned the next week, and finally they had paperwork to sign-- a lot of it... holy sh*t I have never seen so much paperwork to buy something. This was more paperwork than there was for our house, I am not kidding. Over 100 pages probably if you include other documents referenced by these. I read them all, I insisted, before signing. The guy did not appear pleased with this-- I realize his time is valuable, but who in their right mind signs something without reading it? It had all sorts of things that would, if we were not in the position we are, potentially be devastating. (Example, they were not very forthcoming on the fact that there was a 'demand function' on the loan-- the bank can just demand it be paid right away, in other words, because they feel like it.)
Again, that should have been another, and the final red flag. We should have walked away. But, I'm here writing this, so that's not what happened. Sunk cost fallacy and all, I guess.
So, we finally get through several hours of reading things, asking them questions, etc.. They lied a bunch through their teeth I'm sure, but this post is already too long to even start listing the things I worry about.
Once we had actually managed to get the thing purchased, they had some guy take us back and do a walkthrough of the travel trailer to prove everything was working on delivery, etc.. Honestly, I feel this walkthrough should have been it's own day given how many things there are on the trailer, and how many involve things that you have to wait on to see if they're really working properly-- like an oven, an air conditioner / heater, that sort of thing; but it's not like this lasted more than 10 minutes of the guy turning things on, asking me if I knew propane was flammable, etc..
Walkthrough guy was nice, didn't have a problem with him, but he (especially for someone who works in maintenance) didn't seem well informed. He advised me, for example, despite the travel trailer's converter / battery charger being rated for use with a Lithium replacement battery, not to do this, because it could 'blow up the electrical system'. While I am confident that the trailer's 'auto detection' feature isn't really that, and have since inspected the battery charger and it's workings, I assure you a compatible lithium replacement battery would not 'blow up' the electrical system.
He didn't even know where the circuit breakers, etc.. were, didn't know what size the water tank was, where it was, what certain ratings were, when I asked. At this point, I was mostly testing to see if they had any idea how this thing was put together, because I'd become suspicious. The guy, while nice, failed the test horribly.
This was all very disconcerting, because they are the only Jayco partnered dealership in range of our home.
We hitched up the trailer with the help of the sales guy, who incorrectly instructed me on how to hook up the break-away safety cable, and left with the trailer.
When we got it home, we hooked it up to power, water, and sewer, to go run through our actual bunch of tests.
The following things do not function correctly on this trailer:
1) The roof-mounted solar panel and charge controller for the 12v system. Completely non-functional upon arrival, and during the walkthrough (though we were told it was because there wasn't enough sun during that time). I eventually went and troubleshot this enough to determine that the entire ground wire from the charge controller was completely disconnected from the 12v system, which of course made it useless. I fixed this, but I should not have had to spend this time doing so.
2) The oven. The pilot light requires you to hold the knob in after sparking it for ~5 minutes before it will stay lit. The instructions say it should take ~5 seconds. Oven is basically useless, no one has 5 or 10 or 20 minutes to fight with it to get it to keep the pilot light lit. The walkthrough person did not check oven function, just asked, if I knew how to use it. (Yes, I do, I've owned RVs before. In fact, the Jayco travel trailer from 1985 that I use as a storage shed presently, the oven in there STILL works just as it did when new.) I have /no idea/ how to fix this, and the dealership has ignored me when I've asked them. They say they'll get back to me, they do not.
3) The air conditioner / heater. They start up, sure, but they don't stay going. The AC seems to cut out any time there's a slight voltage fluctuation on the 12v system that powers the thermostat, etc., and this happens regularly of course when you turn a light on or off or something. To get the AC to restart, you have to completely power off the system at the thermostat, and wait ~1 minute, and then power it back on. I've not solved this yet, but I'm sure I likely can... by reverse engineering the thermostat control standard and replacing it with something else, and/or stabilizing the power supply to the appliances using some electronics... but still, why should I have to do this? The thing's brand new.
4) The water pump. It rattled SO MUCH and was not screwed down properly that it almost dislodged the piping when we fired it up during testing. Eventually after some back and forth with the service guy over the phone, I settled on a solution which he admitted would not in any way void the warranty-- pipe insulation to keep the rattling down throughout the trailer (I just purchased this from Home Depot and put it on), and some extra rubber and foam, and a slightly thicker screw to hold the pump in place properly.
5) The shower plastic shroud. The backing is incorrectly / poorly installed, bulged up, etc., around the bottom, making it harder to clean. I should have noticed this but, again, with only a ~10 minute walkthrough... :/ I'm sure they'd also say it 'met standards' and was fine. I guess I'll have to fix this, too.
6) Several of the lights, after being on for a bit, 'flicker'. This is extremely odd because they're DC lights, and while one might expect the typical 60Hz flicker from a cheap LED AC light, a DC light should have no flickering. It's definitely that the light is getting hot and has a bad solder joint or something. Yet another thing that, while on it's own isn't a huge deal for me to fix, it's not on it's own. I'll have to replace a number of these light fixtures I guess, too. -_-
7) Upon crawling under the trailer, the underbelly that is supposedly 'enclosed' is hardly that. It's got so many gaps and holes that I'm genuinely worried about what will have nested in there by the time I get around to fixing it. Good thing we have so many cats around, I guess. Would some spray-foam have killed Jayco?
Now, we're not even done with the BS.
Somehow, over the next few weeks, we've gotten (both my partner and I) about a dozen credit pulls from random lenders. Like, holy crap. And of course, because they're not all at the same time and nor are they even from the same 'type' of lenders, our scores have dropped like a rock.
I don't know who over there at Great American RV Superstores is pushing some button, but this needs to stop... we're at the point where we are considering freezing our credit, because this is insane. Credit pulls from AFTER we picked up the RV? Excuse me? Why? This is borderline identity fraud.
Overall, the sales experience was fine, but everything else was bad. Logistics, financing, paperwork, service... they all dropped the ball.
I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone buy from this dealership chain, nor can I recommend at this point anyone buy a Jayco travel trailer-- apparently their build quality (like seemingly everything from everyone these days) has taken a nosedive since the 80's.
Oh, and the $200 gift card they promised us for wasting our time? No where to be found. -_- We asked about it, they dismissed it saying they would contact us when they 'got approval from management'; in other words, they just promised us something they weren't authorized to give us.

2024.05.21 00:03 cutesweetpuppies Practical Tips for Camping with Your Pup

Camping is a wonderful way to experience a whole new world with your puppy. Your dog will experience new sounds, new smells, and new sights that will stimulate and fascinate them. If your pup loves going for walks, hiking will absolutely change their life! They will light up as they explore an entirely new world, full of new challenges and excitement. But camping isn’t the same as being at home, in a myriad of ways.
Preparation is undeniably wise and will allow your pup to be accepted and even loved at your campsite instead of merely being tolerated. Understand your dog’s limits, respect the rules of the camp, and be considerate of other campers at all times! Before you take your pup on an RV or tenting trip, check out our tips to prepare yourself and your pup for your adventure.

Planning Your Camping Trip

Allow your dog to experience your RV or tent before the trip — if possible, even try an overnight or weekend trip close to home before attempting a longer trip. Your pup will appreciate it if you bring their comfort items from home. Whether they have a favorite toy or always sleep on the same pillow or dog bed, including that in your trip will help your dog by providing familiarity.
Plan to keep your dog on a leash in all public places, for their own safety and the comfort of others. While traveling to your campsite, plan for regular stops to allow your dog time to eat, drink, exercise, and use the bathroom. When you do stop during travel be aware of the environment! If the space is loud or busy, allow your dog time to get used to the location before expecting them to feel comfortable.

Medical and Environmental Questions

Research emergency vet care near your campsite and educate yourself about local environmental concerns like insects, plants, or wildlife that could be problematic for your pup. Prepare your pet for ticks by bringing a tick-removing tool and a flea and tick repellant or shampoo. Consider packing a de-skunk kit as well, just in case!
If your pup is not used to campfires, especially if you don’t regularly have campfires in a familiar and comfortable setting for your dog, then keep a close eye. In addition, unless you already have built-up experience with your dog on hikes in remote terrain, don’t plan to take your dog into the wilderness. Many locations don’t allow it due to the increased risk of extreme terrain and meeting dangerous wildlife.

Training For Your Campsite

Before attempting a camping or RV trip, you will want your dog trained and used to new sounds. If you are hiking, you will want them comfortable obeying commands and walking well on a leash.
If you have not quite prepared for an RV or tenting adventure, consider booking a few sessions with a qualified trainer to make sure your pup is ready to be a good canine citizen in a brand new environment. Trainers are always delighted to take your dog from good to truly great!

Equipment for Your Pup

There is some amazing gear designed specifically for dogs on camping trips. Check out these innovations in canine camping — you might find the perfect equipment for your upcoming trip!

Explore the World Together

Carefully preparing for your RV or tenting adventure will guarantee that you and your pup have an incredible adventure. 2024.05.20 23:58 cashmeowsigh what exact panels to get?

hello guys, I'm going to be converting a box truck into a tiny home soon and I've been looking at different ways to power everything. I'm really intrigued by the ecoflow delta pro at 3600w and the ability to charge from a tesla charger with an adapter if we get long cloudy weeks where I live. I also like that I'll have the option to add an additional 3600w battery along side it in the future if i end up needing that more power. one thing is for certain, I'm going to want to install sturdy panels to the roof of the truck to absorb energy all day without having to haul a mini solar farm outside everyday with the foldable panels ecoflow sells.
right now I'm looking at buying 3 BougeRV 400 Watts Solar Panel 9BB Cell on Amazon. ideally I want to get as close to 1000w solar input as I can to almost never worry about low energy with the amount of electricity ill be using daily.
I wanted to ask you guys if this is a good purchase or if you know a better brand/deal I could go after to get the setup I desire, thanks.

11-minute read.

Armenia's military industry is developing

HOST: The share of the domestic arms industry in the armed forces has been rising in recent years. The state has decided to create easier conditions for the development of the industry.
HIGH-TECH MINISTER (Mkhitar Hayrapetyan): Whatever is possible to produce in Armenia with the use of Armenian scientific potential and manufacturing capacities should be done domestically to minimize reliance on imports. The myth that Armenian producers are incapable of creating high-quality products has been shattered.
At the moment, there are ֏170 billion ($438 million) in contracts signed between the defense ministry and 27 representatives of domestic industry. We expect to bring it to ֏190 billion ($490 million) by the end of this year by involving two more companies.
Most contracts are about communication tools, control systems, radio-electronic warfare tools, drones, modernization activities, etc.
LEONID NERSISYAN (expert): It's not a secret that hefty investments were made in the manufacturing of drones. We've also seen a production of 122 mm and 82 mm shells; it's necessary to expand to 155 mm because we are purchasing new [Indian] artillery that uses those.
HIGH-TECH MINISTER: (1) The state is enacting legislative reforms to make the industry attractive for investments. (2) We are promoting R&D for new technologies and the generation of new ideas. We are financing research activities, the creation of prototypes, and their experimentation. The chain ends when a company's product passes the state experimentation process and enters serial production.
HOST: In 2018 the scientific-research budget was ֏2.4B. Today it's ֏4.1B ($10.6M), with an additional ֏1.5B dedicated for prototypes.
MHER MARKOSYAN (expert): We need more laser tech experts. The state must cherish mil. industry employees and encourage young scientists to gain experience.
HIGH-TECH MINISTER: As part of the 2024 budget, we do have a component to train and retrain industry experts. New specialists must enter this industry.
MHER MARKOSYAN: The war in Ukraine has made it more difficult to import components. Something that would normally take 1 week now requires 5 months. There are also horrible logistics problems. We do find solutions to import products but these solutions are expensive.
LEONID NERSISYAN: Even countries under the UN's embargo are able to import weapons so it's a matter of price. For example, it turns out that 70% of the electronics inside North Korean missiles are American.
HOST: Some Armenian manufacturers have reached international levels and could soon begin to export their products. However, there are logistic complications here as well. For example, in 2021 Armenia faced difficulty transporting the mockups of larger weapons to the Abu Dhabi expo [Moscow forced the jet carrying Armenian products to be unloaded and kept delaying the cargo's transfer to Abu Dhabi].

India's Ambassador about defense cooperation between India and Armenia

AMBASSADOR: Our defense cooperation is proceeding very well. Defense cooperation is not only defense technical cooperation, but also we are looking at capacity building. On both fronts, we are proceeding very well.
REPORTER: During a joint press conference with MOD Papikyan, the Greek Minister spoke about the possibility of Armenia-Greece-France-India quadrilateral cooperation in the defense area.
AMBASSADOR: All 4 states have very good relations but at the moment it is still premature to talk about a quadrilateral format. But yes, there are convergences.
REPORTER: The Indian government said it's going to appoint Defense Attachés to Armenia and several other countries to strengthen the military links. What can you tell us about this?
AMBASSADOR: PM Modi has a very clear-cut policy and initiative of “Make in India”, including in the defense sector. We are now seeing that many countries in the world are buying Indian defense equipment. Defense Attachés are being posted to coordinate the process.

... India's Ambassador about AM-IN economic ties and trade

REPORTER: What was the volume of trade last year, and what trends are seen in the bilateral export and import markets?
AMBASSADOR: The $200 million trade we made was far below the potential. India is the Pharmacy of the World with more than 60% of the vaccines worldwide coming from India, including those supplied through the WHO and other mechanisms like GAVI. So we see more potential here. Both sides are working towards increasing the import of Indian medicines and vaccines into Armenia. We are also looking at the high-tech sector.

... India's Ambassador about Pashinyan's "Crossroads of Peace" trade unblocking project

REPORTER: The Government of Armenia proposed the “Crossroads of Peace” logistics project. There were opinions that it matches with India’s vision in the South Caucasus. What is India’s opinion on this initiative?
AMBASSADOR: When countries need to prosper, connectivity is the key. And connectivity is something that we, in our own region, have been working very closely with our neighboring countries. So similarly, we find that for any region, if you want to move to the next level of prosperity, you need to have connectivity projects. Naturally, we see this “Crossroads of Peace” project of the Armenian government in that light, that it would be a win-win situation for all the regional partners. So indeed for us there is no other way than to have more connections between countries, whether it is in terms of roads, railways, etc. We look at it positively and enthusiastically.

... India's Ambassador about international trade through Iran's Chabahar port

REPORTER: India plays an important role in the development of Chabahar port. You mentioned that the prospects of facilitating the use of Chabahar port for Armenia are being considered as well. What are those possibilities?
AMBASSADOR: The Chabahar port is jointly developed by India and Iran. In our discussions with the Armenian side, they have manifested an interest in using the Chabahar port. Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration visited the Chabahar port in December. We are waiting for the details from the Armenian side and we will consider it once we receive concrete proposals.
REPORTER: What role can Armenia play in the development of a communication route from India to Chabahar to the Black Sea?
AMBASSADOR: This goes back to my comment about connectivity. Armenia being a landlocked country definitely needs more connectivity projects. If it materializes, I think it would help Armenia to overcome the fact that it is a landlocked country.

government launches the construction of two roads for Tavush border village Kirants: VIDEO

PASHINYAN OFFICE: The 3 remaining coordinates of Kirants were pinpointed with the use of a computer and the border posts will be installed later. The rest [another 8 posts in Kirants] are already there. The good news for Kirants is that around 25 hectares of land that have been unreachable for 33 years will be returned to the village. The border resembles the 1976 line.
As we said earlier, yes, there is a need to build a bypass road, which can be accomplished in 2-3 months. We will also rebuild the road between H-26 and Acharkut and Kirants, which is an alternative road for Kirants. As for property issues, the volumes are small and the government will compensate in such situations. //
The 3 remaining border posts were reportedly installed in Kirants on Monday. Here is how the road issue will be addressed:
Azerbaijan is located between Kirants and Sarigyugh villages. Kirants is currently connected to Sarigyugh with two roads: a direct connection through the interstate road, and a secondary road that connects Kirants to nearby Acharkut before reaching Sarigyugh.
Approximately 300 meters of the direct road falls under the Azerbaijani side, so the government will build a 750-meter bypass road parallel to it. Preliminary construction activities have begun; they are working on the details.
As for the secondary road passing through Acharkut, the government has begun rebuilding and widening it to allow cargo trucks to use it.
So there are currently two construction projects, with one connecting Kirants to Sarigyugh directly, and the second connecting Kirants to Sarigyugh through Acharkut. Both roads are expected to be ready in 3 months.

Azerbaijani dissident activist Arif Yunusov about Iran helicopter crash

REPORTER: Will there be radical changes in Iran after the death of Raisi?
YUNUSOV: I doubt it. The real power is in the hands of Khamenei. Now there are reports about his son [replacing him in the future]. As for the internal disturbances caused by opponents, as you know, there are periodic waves in Iran. These protests are sometimes ethnicity-based. If in the past it was Azerbaijanis, today the protests are by Kurds. There is also the youth that's tired of being ruled by religious mullahs. The death of Raisi doesn't change anything in internal or foreign policies. They will just change the President's last name.
REPORTER: I have a feeling Iran will soon blame Israel for the helicopter crash.
YUNUSOV: I have already seen that on Iranian Telegram channels but official Tehran won't rush with that. They will conduct an investigation and conclusions will be made. If Tehran blames Israel, then there must be good evidence for it because credit where credit is due - Iran usually conducts such investigations quite well. If you remember the liquidation of the father of Iran's nuclear weapons, Israel still denies participation but Iran found enough evidence that Israeli agents used the territory of Azerbaijan to infiltrate, carry out the project, and return through Azerbaijan. Let's wait and see the conclusion of the crash investigation. The accusations by Telegram channels and analysts "don't count".

... Arif Yunusov about AM-AZ border delimitation

REPORTER: Is the ongoing Tavush-Gazakh delimitation really a bilateral process, as Baku claims?
YUNUSOV: No. The U.S. is still interested in the delimitation process and influences both parties behind the curtains. There was a high-profile Azerbaijani visit to Washington. Although the official press release didn't share details, we can safely assume they discussed the AM-AZ relations. If this delimitation continues in spite of Russia that means the U.S. is currently a moderator in this process. This is not purely a bilateral process despite Aliyev's efforts to present it that way.
REPORTER: Is the U.S. a guarantor that the delimitation won't end in Tavush?
YUNUSOV: Not a "guarantor" but the U.S. is the force that is really trying to accomplish something and is actually doing something. The full demarcation will last a long time. The main objective of the U.S. at the moment is the signing of an AM-AZ peace agreement. I don't think they'll be able to sign it before November, however.
REPORTER: How is the Azerbaijani public reacting to the border delimitation?
YUNUSOV: Positively. People truly want to have a demarcated border. The Azerbaijani regime often mentioned "Western Azerbaijan" and the return of Azeris there, but in reality, nobody in Azerbaijan took that seriously because they all understood it was an attempt to pressure Armenia. As soon as information came that the border was partially delimited, it was met with a positive response by the public. The Azerbaijani public understands that it's normal for Azerbaijan to gain and lose control of territories during this process, just as we did during the delimitation with other neighbors.

2024.05.20 23:34 Silver-Warning-3442 Help me decide - Gas vs Hybrid

Ok Santa Fe friends I need your help. I’ll be purchasing a Calligraphy likely in a few months and I’m having a really hard time deciding between the gas/ICE vs hybrid. I currently own a 2021 calligraphy so I’m familiar with and use to the 2.5T and DCT with no issues there, but I’ve never driven a hybrid. Most of my driving is around town and to/from work in a my town (not a lot of stop and go traffic like in a bigger city) and several 2hr+ long trips of interstate highway driving each year.
Here’s a pros and cons list I’ve come up with so add to it your thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc
Gas/ICE
Pros: much sportier looking wheels, more powerful, spare, cargo cover storage, cheaper (seeing some decent discounts on these already), lower interest rate, cheaper insurance vs hybrid, no additional tag fee in my state
Cons: gas mileage, 21” tires a little more expensive to replace (but I’ve found decent priced ones too so not a major concern here), resale value maybe not as high as the hybrid would be after 3-5 years
Hybrid
Pros: gas mileage, smoothequieter ride?, 20” tires less expensive to replace, resale value after 3-5 years vs gas
Cons: less powerful, more expensive, wheels not as sporty looking as the 21” ones, no spare, no cargo cover holder area, higher insurance cost, additional $100 a year for hybrid car tags in my state
With my math calculations assuming ~$3 gas at around 10k miles a year, a less expensive gas/ICE purchase vs a hybrid, and factoring in higher insurance and an additional $100 a year in car tags in my state, it’s about a wash if not maybe less expensive to own the gas version over 4-5 years, but the resale value might make a small difference.
What are everyone’s thoughts, especially those that have driven both the 2.5T and the Hybrid versions.

Suggestions to fix slow leak?
Recommendations to fix slow leak in water lines to the outdoor sink? I suspect sliding the counter in and out strains these lines. Water seems to be leaking out directly above the end of the water line - on both hot and cold.
I’m out for four more days with limited tools. I do have teflon tape and a pex crimper tool, which I’ve never used (perhaps making me nervous to try.)
Hooked to city connection if that matters, with pressure regulator.
It’s not a huge deal, but we are supposed to get a lot of rain. I usually slide in the counter with the sink and close the “door” on the RV to the outdoor kitchen in rain. I’m concerned a slow leak could build up a fair bit of water when stowed.

2006 Outback LL Bean 3.0 transmission issues.
Bought a 2006 Outback in Iowa and moved to Seattle 2 days later. Currently its at 134000 miles.
It handled the road okay on the drive out but I drove it up to Hurrican Ridge in Olympic National Park and while it drover perfect up to the top, when I got back in to drive down, the check engine light came on. In addition, I used lower gears as I was going down theountain but it would sometimes slip out of gear. The "sport" mode light started flashing and had to stop several times on the way down. If I turned it off and on again it would be okay for a little while and then slip out again. On the drive home it had trouble shifting to higher gears and several times the tachometer would spike wilhile trying to get up to speed. Again, pulling over and restarting would help.
Today (two days later) it would slip out of high gear on the interstate. I took it to the autoparts store and read the code.
Did I get screwed by the dealership thay sold it to me? Is this a common problem? I'm so frustrated.

2024.05.20 22:29 Phouza Song of the Week #573: Won't Back Down

Welcome everybody to the third SotW of May! This week, we'll be listening to a song that was often used as a powerful opening track for Em's concerts in the Recovery era. Most of you probably know what song I'm talking about. This week's track is 'Won't Back Down', featured as the fourth track on Em's seventh studio album, 'Recovery'.
Upon the release of Recovery, the song received generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its aggressive nature and production. Although not released as a single, 'Won't Back Down' appeared on four national charts. It was used in the game Call of Duty: Black Ops and its trailer as well as the trailers for the films Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Hitman: Agent 47.
Along with most of the songs from Recovery, 'Won't Back Down' was recorded at 54 Sound and Effigy Studios in Ferndale, Michigan, with recording carried out by Mike Strange. The song is one of the only Eminem songs not in a 4:4 time signature, along with Untitled (also from Recovery) and Underground (from Relapse).
Originally, the song was set to be a solo record, with Eminem singing the chorus himself. Later, Liz Rodriguez, who is also featured on Recovery's '25 to Life' and 'Almost Famous', recorded the song's chorus. Eminem however, explained in an interview that after recording his vocals for the song, he decided to include Pink on the song as he "felt like she would really smash this record.".
Although 'Won't Back Down' was not released as a single, it charted on four national charts worldwide due to digital sales on the release of Recovery. The song reached its highest position on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 62 on the chart for the week ending of July 10, 2010, although it fell off the chart the following week. The song also charted in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom, peaking at number eighty-seven, sixty-five and eighty-two on their respective national charts, although on all three the song again only appeared for one week.
As stated before, upon its release, 'Won't Back Down' received generally positive reviews from most music critics. David Jeffries of Allmusic wrote positively of the song, describing the song as a "lurching heavy metal monster" that "could be used as the lead-in to 'Lose Yourself' on any ego-boosting mixtape", but wrote more critically of the lyrics, denouncing the pop culture jokes featured throughout the song, particularly ones aimed at Michael J. Fox, calling the line "Make like Michael J. Fox in your drawers, playin' with an Etch-A-Sketch" "less effective" than other jokes aimed at him. Steve Jones of USA Today described it as "rock-tinged" and stated that Pink's appearance provides "outside star power".
A remixed version of the ESPN trailer of the game Call of Duty: Black Ops featuring 'Won't Back Down' was released on June 14, prior to the E3 Activision conference for which he also performed. The song was also featured in the game's credits and zombie mode map 'Five' as an easter egg.
Em has performed the song on live sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live accompanied by Lil Wayne and Mr. Porter. Idolator reacted positively to Eminem's performance, stating that he proved "once again what a dynamic and energetic live performer he is on this exceptionally angry tune (even by Slim Shady standards)." He also performed the song on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Every week there will be a new song that gets featured at the top of the subreddit. Users can leave a comment and the song that gets the most votes might be the new Song of the Week. Suggestions for improving the next post are encouraged.
