I was a self employed truck driver, my own truck, my own company. Was doing great for several years, paid off all my previous debts, and at the beginning of 2022 I bought a house for my mother. She couldn't get approved for the mortgage but I did due to my income, so I bought the house and she is the one paying the mortgage.
Halfway through the year things took a turn for me. Income dropped, I was having trouble staying profitable. Then near the start of 2023 my semi had a major breakdown costing me $13k and I had to take out a loan with Vader Mountain Capital to pay most of it. Then it broke down again, and again, and again, costing me over $40,000 between tows, repairs, and hotel stays. Not to mention lost income.
Ended up having to give up and close my company around this time last year after spending so much trying to keep the truck running and simply not being able to afford it. Final breakdown was around 250 mil;es from home and after a week of trying to secure yet more funding ended up calling my mother to come pick me up. Truck got repossessed in September (I called the finance company and voluntarily surrendered it), lost my CDL in August because the financial issues had been preventing me from affording my diabetes pills, and I'm almost $100k in debt between credit cards (19k, 8k, 1k), line of credit with my former bank (18k), the loan with Vader (14k), and whatever else I might still owe towards my truck (was 34k but the finance company finally picked it up last month and hasn't gotten back to me yet). I also owe 9k to my brother who took out a loan to pay for one of the repairs because I was considering abandoning the truck and trying to walk 1200 miles home (and at the time I honestly thought suicide was a better option, just leap off the highway overpass outside the repair shop I was at).
Now I'm working full time for $15 an hour at a local department store, bringing home maybe $20k a year after taxes. The only bills I'm paying monthly are for my cell phone and satellite TV (combined under $200 a month), and food. I have started the bankruptcy filing with a lawyer who charged me $1,800, but I'm really putting it off because the bankruptcy lawyer said the house would be taken. But my mother is also on the title and both her and brother are the ones who have paid most of the mortgage so far so if the house is taken it would be stealing equity from them and making them homeless, not just me.
So far everybody has been basically ignoring me except Vader who keeps threatening to sue and demanding payments that I simply can't afford (over $400 per week, unless I argue with them for 20-30 mins and they finally settle for much less).

With unanimous approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals, Ja’Duke Inc. is one step closer to opening its second performance art, driver’s education and preschool center at the former Greenfield Community College building at 270 Main St.
Ja’Duke owners Kimberly Williams and Nicholas Waynelovich came before the ZBA last week with a detailed plan to transform the 25,000-square-foot building into a facility equipped with a driver’s education classroom on the basement floor, classroom space to hold 35 infants and 45 toddlers on the first floor, and five preschool classrooms and three performance arts educational rooms on the third floor. Williams said she expects the facility will hold between 120 to 150 students per day.
“With a wait list of 120, you can’t just sit on your hands, you’ve got to do something,” Williams said.
Williams confirmed Monday that she plans on closing on the new property for about $655,000 by the end of June, with the goal of opening in 2025. Although Viva Tubes founder Dave Mell purchased the building for $700,000 in January 2023, Williams said it has remained unused since 2020.
Ja’Duke first opened in 2004 in the basement of the Colle Opera House before moving to its current space at 110 Industrial Blvd. in Turners Falls a few years later. It has grown to include driver’s education through the Ja’Duke Driving School, 75 weekly performance art classes under Ja’Duke Center for the Performing Arts, and 14 early education and child care classrooms through Ja’Duke Preschool.
Williams said Ja’Duke’s Turners Falls location will remain open for business as the company expands to Greenfield.
“[Child care and early education] is a much-needed thing in every community right now — I think it’s a no-brainer,” Williams told the ZBA Thursday. “This is mainly an expansion of learning into a more populated area.”
Williams said Ja’Duke expects to pay roughly $1.2 million to make numerous renovations to the Greenfield building, such as roof repairs or replacement, installation of new sprinklers, and upgrades to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
Because the building is in a commercially zoned area, Ja’Duke needed to obtain a special permit from the ZBA to operate a private school.
Before the ZBA’s unanimous vote of approval, member Debra Gilkes noted that the board should consider the new business’ potential impact on traffic in downtown Greenfield, considering the school’s 120-150-student capacity and other large-scale projects being planned in the area, such as the redevelopment of the former Wilson’s Department Store. In response, Williams said student drop-offs and pick-ups at Ja’Duke’s current location typically take place quickly and efficiently, mitigating negative traffic impacts. She said the vehicles come and go “like a stream.”
“[The building] used to be a bank, so it was the same story. ... I don’t think it’s going to increase traffic any more than that,” ZBA Chair David Singer said. “Maybe we’ll be busy downtown, but it’s a thriving community and I assume it can tolerate this.”
When a resident asked how the presence of nearby cannabis dispensaries might impact the driver’s ed and pre-school facets of Ja’Duke’s business, Williams responded that there are not cannabis dispensaries within 250 feet of 270 Main St., and that even if there were, the school would embrace the opportunity to educate drivers ed students on marijuana and the dangers of driving while under the influence.
Following the planned renovations, the company hopes to launch Greenfield-based programming in early 2025.

Now I have been sent a Single Justice Procedure Notice almost 9 months later. Please can anyone help as to my options and what to do next? I know that people say it cannot be followed through after 6 months but then I am also aware sometimes this does not apply. Please can anyone help it’s really stressing me out. I am in England.

- FIRST Step:
- Go to the nearest MVIC ( Motor Vehicle Inspection Center ) for your MVIS with Smoke Emission Testing. This is a package test, they usually do it together.
- In the MVIC, ask them if they automatically upload the test results to LTO portal
- If yes, you only need to ask the copy of the result
- If no, ask the copy of the result and upload it to your LTMS portal
- For your TPL Insurance, in the MVIC, they usually offer this, and you may get one from them. But there are also TPL offers near LTO branches and some of them are cheaper.
- SECOND Step:
- Go to the nearest LTO Branch ( In my case, I visited LTO Galleria Cebu Branch and their office is open until 7PM and kunti lang tao dun especially 5PM above.
- Give them the copy of the MVIS with Smoke Emission Test Result and the TPL Insurance
- Then pay for the OR. It took 2-5 minutes only when they released my OR. GOOD JOB LTO.
- AND YOUR VHEICLE IS NOW RENEWED!.

I took my car into my local Toyota dealer for loose steering on May 6th. The Issue had been persisting for about a 2 weeks but no major issues or concerns.
The dealer diagnosed play in the tie rods. Rather than replacing just the tie rods they suggested replacing the entire steering rack as it was only $70 more.
Fast forward 4 days to May 10th my car is ready after paying roughly $2,000.
I drive off the lot and my steering completely seizes nearly causing me to crash into oncoming traffic in the turn lane I am in.
After completing stopping, turning my car off and on, and playing with the steering for about 15 minutes I manage to get it back to the dealership unharmed.
The next day my service advisor texts me and apologizes “for what is happening to my car” and “not catching it after the rack repair”. According to them my power steering pump was going bad and they pushed a ton of metal shavings into the steering system when they put in new fluids after the repair. Not realizing, which caused my steering to seize.
Dealer parts warrantied the new rack for another rack as it was unsalvageable and covered the cost for a new power steering pump and all labor.
Fast forward 6 days to May 17th I receive a message saying my car is all ready to go. I drive off the lot and the same exact scenario plays out. My steering seizes and I have no control over the vehicle no matter how hard I turn the wheel.
Now 4 days later, May 21st, I have heard no new information from the dealer or service department other than the technicians do not have any idea what is happening and they aren’t working Monday or Tuesday.
I do not know the legal standing on this situation at all. My main questions are:
a.) Is the dealer for sure 100% responsible for new unrelated damages seemingly caused by their own negligence with the vehicle in their possession.
b.) What compensation should I be seeking? They are currently honoring the repair costs and labor, however, after 2 attempts I do not trust their word, work, or car anymore. I do not want to keep waiting weeks for potential fixes and continually put myself in harms way.
However, my car is nearly impossible to trade in / replicate it is a limited edition color with over $20,000 of aftermarket modifications on it. The market value or trade in would not allow me to obtain a similar vehicle.
The only compensation I would really be satisfied with would be a check for the car’s market value and the current cost of adding the exact same modifications to a new vehicle.

Dealer parts warrantied the new rack for another rack as it was unsalvageable and covered the cost for a new power steering pump and all labor.
Fast forward 6 days to May 17th I receive a message saying my car is all ready to go. I drive off the lot and the same exact scenario plays out. My steering seizes and I have no control over the vehicle no matter how hard I turn the wheel.
Now 4 days later, May 21st, I have heard no new information from the dealer or service department other than the technicians do not have any idea what is happening and they aren’t working Monday or Tuesday.
I do not know the legal standing on this situation at all. My main questions are:
a.) Is the dealer for sure 100% responsible for new unrelated damages seemingly caused by their own negligence with the vehicle in their possession.
b.) What compensation should I be seeking? They are currently honoring the repair costs and labor, however, after 2 attempts I do not trust their word, work, or car anymore. I do not want to keep waiting weeks for potential fixes and continually put myself in harms way.
However, my car is nearly impossible to trade in / replicate it is a limited edition color with over $20,000 of aftermarket modifications on it. The market value or trade in would not allow me to obtain a similar vehicle.
The only compensation I would really be satisfied with would be a check for the car’s market value and the current cost of adding the exact same modifications to a new vehicle.
Is that a reasonable expectation for the dealer without even taking legal action? or will this require an attorney

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said the trial, conducted in partnership with Swinburne University, would be a world-first.
"There is nowhere in the world that actually has got that standard way of measuring impairment through medicinal cannabis," Ms Horne said.
"It is a basic human right — we've got a legally prescribed drug, let us be able to measure what that looks like in a road safety environment."
About 70 participants will take place in the trial, due to begin in September this year.
When first announced last year, the trial was praised by legal groups such as the Australian Lawyers Alliance, who have dubbed driving laws penalising medicinal cannabis users as "outdated and unfair".
"Cases are coming before the courts every week where people are losing their licence and their livelihood because they are taking prescribed medicinal cannabis and driving," Australian Lawyers Alliance spokesperson Greg Barns said.

And I've found myself in a bit of a pickle. That pickle being is over $3000 in traffic offences that I did not commit.
Here's the timeline for ya.
Mid 2020- I'd moved to a place in the Melbourne inner suburbs 6 months earlier, a 20-minute walk from work. Things were looking a bit dicey with cash money, so I decided to scrap my crusty old car to save some dosh.
I have not driven a motor vehicle of any description since. That's an important, stone hard fact.
Skip to Jan 2022- And I was applying for a new job, and my probationary licence had expired, so I got vicroads to send me my full licence. (I needed it for the whole fit4work thing they're making us do now) But before I got my little mits on it, somebody decided to nick it out of my mailbox.
It's been nothing but a living nightmare since.
Whoever did that decided to rack up thousands of dollars in fines ever since. They did it by nominating me for those fines.
-I got a letter from an insurance company claiming I was responsible for a crash in Queensland.
-I also had VicPol at my door asking if I had stolen a car and gone on a cheeky little crime spree. (Luckily, that was cleared up pretty quickly.) -I tried to report my licence stolen, but because it was never physically in my possession, I was told I couldn't. -I also didn't get that job because I could provide 100 points of ID in time.
'But young reddit user, why didn't you just reject the nomination?' I hear you ask.
Well... I may have had some boogins in my brain at the time. Covid had done it's damage and I really wasn't well. For most of 2022, I was in and out of active psychosis and didn't have a lot of support. The shadow people don't give great legal advice. By the time I got it together, it was too late to reject them.
Skipping to now, I've set up a payment plan for $50 a fortnight to keep fines victoria from breaking down my front door, but I want to know if it's worth talking to lawyer and trying to fight this. My licence expires at the end of the year. (Do you get a new licence number when it renews?)
I truly did not commit any of those offences, I'm not a violent or crimey schizo. I just get paranoid and don't leave my apartment for weeks at a time. (I'm doing better now. 🙂)
Is there any better option than continuing with the payment plan?

By the time I got it together, it was too late to reject them.
Skipping to now, I've set up a payment plan for $50 a fortnight to keep fines victoria from breaking down my front door, but I want to know if it's worth talking to lawyer and trying to fight this. My licence expires at the end of the year. (Do you get a new licence number when it renews?)
I truly did not commit any of those offences, I'm not a violent or crimey schizo. I just get paranoid and don't leave my apartment for weeks at a time. (I'm doing better now. 🙂)
Is there any better option than continuing with the payment plan?

It's been nothing but a living nightmare since.
