2024.05.21 21:09 rbubar Low Spin Golf Ball

Hey everyone, I tried a new ball today Chrome Tour I was told it is a replacement for last years Chromesoft X LS.
I normally play Vice Pro. My usual shot is a fade (a slice is the major miss) with driver. Today my golf ball with the driver was just falling out of the air. Definitely losing distance.
In the second to last hole I hit two balls on Chrome tour and it definitely dropped out of the and then another with the Vice Pro and went the normal flight.
Can a ball/low spin ball really cause that big of a difference??
Thank you in advance

2024.05.21 20:48 otr0nak How do avali lungs work?

So I've been reading Todd's comprehensive guide and have been kinda stuck on page 14 talking about the respiratory system. Avali lungs are described as being seperated into 2 different groups of air sacs, which makes me think their lungs work similar to avians who have multiple air sacs/chambers in sequence with the actual lungs so that they're constantly getting oxygenated blood. That would make sense to me since in the book it also says they can fly on avalon. But it's said that the two pairs are used seperately for varying activies, with the smaller ones being used for idle or ground activities, and the larger ones being used for flight or intense workouts. This makes me think they work more like mammal's lungs but with two seperate sections for varying levels of exertion. The part that I'm also getting stuck on is that the 2nd lungs are described as being constantly filled during flight or intense workouts, which I'm just not sure how to interpret. I'm likely just getting cought up in the wording since i'm autistic, and "constantly filled" could just be used to decribe them when in active use, but I don't want to assume which is why I'm asking for clarification/personal interpretation.

2024.05.21 20:47 ThatSoftware4946 Resol's IOT: MAMA apartments EPISODE 1

Synopsis
Resol’s IOT is a novel series about an attempt by the main character called Resol to make the world a post scarcity society.
Resol IOT: MAMA apartments is a novel about an attempt by the main character, Resol, to try and introduce a new housing model called MAMA apartments, to continue his journey of trying to make the world a post scarcity society.
MAMA apartments consists of houses connected by an elevator system to a food and clothes hub.
When people in these houses need food or clothes, they order from the food or clothes hub and they are brought directly into the mini elevator, inside the house, by small pods from the hubs through the elevator system.
When they finish eating or wearing the food or clothes, they use the pods to return the dirty dishes or clothes to the hubs for cleaning and storing.
These houses don’t require a permanent kitchen, closet, appliances etc. making them simple enough to be cleaned by autonomous robots.
But as Resol's dream takes flight, it encounters formidable obstacles.
Can he navigate the treacherous waters of bureaucracy, technological barriers and opposition to realize his vision? Or will the hurdles prove to be too strong and force him to abandon his vision?
"Resol IOT: MAMA Apartments" is a gripping tale of innovation, ambition, and the indomitable human spirit.
Join Resol on a journey that transcends the boundaries of imagination, and discover the true power of vision in a world teetering on the brink of change.
 Episode 1
Resol stood by the bedside, his tailored suit impeccable even in the soft morning light filtering through the curtains.
Wendy, his wife, lay nestled in the sheets, her curls splayed across the pillow, still caught in the gentle embrace of sleep.
" I'm off to the office for the inaugural meeting on the evaluation of MAMA apartments," Resol murmured, his voice breaking the peaceful silence of the room. Wendy stirred slightly, her eyelids fluttering open.
"Already?"
"Yes, I have been waiting for this day all my life," said a smiling Resol, “We used to say we want to build houses connected to a food and clothes hub, and now we have achieved that goal and have actually built them in real life."
"Just... don't push them too hard when things are not as you expected, okay? They've been working hard, too."
"I have to," Resol responded, his tone tinged with urgency. "You know the business might not produce as much revenue for long. We only have one shot at this."
Wendy nodded. Resol slipped out of the room, the door closing softly behind him.
Outside, the morning air was crisp as he made his way to his Range Rover, the engine purring to life beneath him.
As he navigated the streets toward the MAMA apartments main office, his thoughts swirled with the impending meeting.
After about a 30-minute drive, he finally reached the office building containing the MAMA apartments office.
He went inside and was greeted with warm respect and admiration by the secretary, Sharon.
She led him to the meeting room and as they entered, his eyes lit up at the sight of his friend, Daniel, seated alone.
A wide grin spread across Resol's face as they embraced.
"It's been long," Resol exclaimed, patting his friend on the back.
"Absolutely. I am always happy to meet the man who forever changed education by replacing writing with voice and lip sync commands."
Resol smiled and glanced around the room, then turned back to Daniel. "Where are the main project managers?"
Daniel, engrossed in his phone, looked up briefly. "I told them I'd let them know when you arrived."
"Why's that?"
Daniel smirked. "I didn’t want them anxious in here waiting for you. You know you are bigger than life, right?"
A chuckle escaped Resol's lips.
Daniel leaned back in his chair. "By the way, I tested the houses. They are just as we imagined back in the day."
Relief washed over Resol's features. "Really?"
Before Daniel could answer, two well-dressed gentlemen entered the meeting room.
Daniel greeted them warmly before he introduced them to Resol.
"Mr. Feli, meet Jeff, the project manager for construction, and Malik, the project manager for automation."
"Pleasure to meet you both."
Daniel excused himself with a nod and left the meeting room.
"Have you completed the MAMA apartment complexes in all three locations?" asked Resol.
"Yes, but there's both good news and bad news," said Malik.
Resol closed his eyes briefly. "Tell me the good news first."
Malik cleared his throat. "The good news is that we've successfully tested all three MAMA apartments, and they're functioning perfectly."
A small sigh of relief escaped Resol's lips. "And what's the bad news?"
"Unfortunately," Malik paused, "we couldn't finish the automations for the food and clothes hub."
Resol's shoulders slumped.
After a few seconds of silence, Malik continued, "We needed to ensure that the automation and systems we created were flawless before the deadline."
Resol ran a hand through his hair. "The selling point of MAMA apartments is the automation."
"The automations..." Malik began, but Resol cut him off with a wave of his hand.
"There's no need for further explanation. I'll see the reality for myself as we do the assessments. But if the amount of automation is not as we agreed on the plan, then I guess we will have to let you go."
“We are sorry boss, we tried our best,” said Jeff.
"That's enough explanation for today," Resol declared, glancing at his watch. "I have a meeting with the Education Minister in an hour. Tomorrow, I expect to start the on-site assessment of the apartments."
As he offered them a handshake, Jeff asked, "Which location would you like to do the assessment?" Resol paused for a moment. "I'll choose randomly in the morning."
Both Jeff and Malik looked startled by his response and they exchanged a quick glance.
"But, sir," Malik began, "shouldn't we plan the assessment—"
"They're all the same, aren't they?"
The two men nodded.
"Very well then," Resol continued as he straightened his tie. "I'll leave it to you to plan the assessment, and decide what you'll start showing me in any apartment complex I choose."
"Thank you, sir," they said almost in unison.
"Gentlemen, it was a pleasure meeting you both," Resol said with a nod, before exiting the room.
He headed to the headquarters of his main company, Mkufu.
There, he met with the education minister and spent the rest of the day working.
He finally returned to his grand mansion as the evening sun dipped below the horizon.
As he entered the living room, he found Wendy engrossed in documentaries on the television.
Her attention was focused, but she glanced up with a warm smile as Resol approached.
"Hey, how was your day?"
Resol managed a small smile in return. "It went okay. The project managers assured me that the houses are ready to house people now."
Wendy's eyebrows furrowed slightly. "But something's bothering you, isn't it?"
Resol sighed and sank onto the couch beside her. "They haven't finished all the automations we planned."
Wendy slapped her forehead gently and then slid her hands down her face. "I knew it. I told you we should have started with minimum automation and added more as time went on. Now we have lost time and we are still in the same position."
"We can't change what's already done. Let's not make conclusions or blame each other until after the assessment."
Just then, their four-year-old son, Zack, bounded into the room, his face lit up with excitement at seeing his parents.
Both Resol and Wendy's faces brightened instantly at the sight of their beloved son.
"Mom! Dad!" Zack exclaimed, running over to them. Wendy scooped him up into her arms, showering him with kisses. "Hey there, champ! Did you have a good day?"
Zack nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah!"
As Wendy carried Zack off to his room for some playtime before dinner, Resol followed behind, his heart feeling lighter at the sight of his family together.
Thank you. I will post the 2nd episode tommorow!

2024.05.21 20:29 Life-Refuse-6670 premonition death dream of myself

I have a lot of crazy dreams, sometimes they’re goofy and everything looks like something out of Alice in wonderland. Sometimes they’re graphic and my dad gets his knees quite literally busted out in front of me. Sometimes they’re so real that the only noticeable difference is weird color or hazy vision. But this one I had on May 17th, 2024 was not like the others and it’s been eating at my daily living for a couple days now. I have a trip planned in August (10th-14th) of this year for my birthday, I already have the plane tickets bought and lodging arrangements in order. In this dream I was flying home from this trip, I was happy and talking to my significant other about how great my birthday was. We spoke in full English, which was odd considering a lot of dreams don’t tend to do this, at least for me. I was reading the signs at the airport, getting to my gate to aboard my flight and so on. We get on the united airplane, and it begins to descend. I feel the push back as it starts to go up and the gravity pulls me against my seat. As it’s going up, it felt like it actually stood still in the air for a moment before it began to fall straight down. There was no warning, no oxygen masks, no one had any idea this was happening. When it crashed I lived through it, I awoke to smoke and fire and alarms going off around me. There was riots, people were screaming and fighting everywhere. There was a familiar sound, the American emergency alert system. It kept repeating itself saying,”the United States has been attacked, we are being invaded. This is not a test.” And my heart sank, I think I passed out again, but this was the only gap in the whole dream. I woke up again in a hotel room. It was extremely clean and I was alone. I rushed to my phone to search for my mom and dad’s contacts, I had to make sure they were okay or at least warn them what had just happened. I was scrolling and scrolling but it felt like I couldn’t find them in my phone, but all of a sudden a huge orange ball passed across my window changing the night sky to look day. I got up and ran to the window to see what it was and then it hit me. The radiation blast, I didn’t even have time to react. I felt the radiation vibrate inside of my skin, it kept rumbling around until what felt like my skin falling off. There was no pain but I started to think (which I do not do in my dreams usually) about the fact I was literally dying. I told myself, “ this is it. I’m finally dying, it’s over. I’m going to see the afterlife.” I was anxious on that thought but then immediately hit with sadness, I am losing my family, I’m dying and I will never see them again. In my next life I won’t remember them. I began to repeat all of their names over and over in hope I would remember them. Within less than a second that all went through my head in this dream. When I finally woke up I reached for my dogs collar, I didn’t think I was really alive. I personally believe in parallel universes and the endless idea that there are many different realities of ourselves out there. Possibly an answer to Deja vu but I’m uncertain.
I reached for her collar to see if it was still pink, because if it had changed color, then it was proof I had somehow changed universes. Yes I realize writing that down it sounds absolutely bonkers, but it was my first thought after waking up from a premonition death of an event that is actually taking place in my life in 3 months. I’m writing this dream down in hopes that someone has had a similar experience, has anyone you know dreamt about their future death? What would you do? Have you ever fully died in your dreams?
To clear some bases: 1. No, nothing in my life has changed this is not a “transition” interpretation dream of death. I’m currently just a college student who plays video games, I literally do not do anything that would be considered a self realization transition. 2. At the risk of sounding insane and stupid, I watched and believe in the final destination movies ideology. If I am to cheat death because I saw my future before it happened, worse death will be upon me. So i am not canceling my trip, but I might have to get some medicine to make me sleep on this damn plane after all this.
I know this is long so if you read through all of this thank you and please give leave a thought. If nothing else, some encouragement that I’m not crazy lol, or if you think I’m crazy, give me a logical explanation and tell me it’s just my brain having anxiety. Honestly, anything will help at this point I’m spiraling.

2024.05.21 20:19 jmp218 Which BNF 5 inch?

I'm looking to buy a BNF 5 inch quad, and I'm a little overwhelmed with everything as I'm still very new. I just ordered some DJI Goggles 2, so I'm looking for something with the 03 air unit.
I've come across the following and need help deciding:
GEPRC Mark 5, which is back-ordered. I like the looks of this one, but it's out of stock everywhere I look. I can preorder it, but I'm not sure how long it would take.
iFlight Nazgul DC5 5" Drone BNF HD w/DJI 03. I don't really have an opinion on this one, but it is in stock.
Nazgul DC5 Eco 6s 03 HD. This seems extremely new on iFlight's website. It's cheaper than the other Nazgul on getfpv. Would this be a good one? Or would you rather spend the extra $100 for the DC5 on getpfv? I think they are two different drones...
Also, on iFlight's website, I see it has an option to pre-install GPS. Could someone explain what that means? And anyone from the US order from iFlight directly? Is it safe to do so?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.21 19:58 rumayday A hole in the floor

A hole in the floor
On June 8, 1983, the Lockheed L-188C Electra operated by Reeve Aleutian Airways was flying from Cold Bay (Alaska) to Seattle. The 23-year-old aircraft was equipped with four turboprop engines. The flight was over the ocean. There were 5 crew members and 10 passengers on board.
Lockheed L-188C Electra
Right after departure, when the plane reached 7,600 meters, the crew felt an uncommon vibration and a strange noise. Flight engineer checked engines through the windows in the cabin, but found nothing unusual. Level of vibration was increasing. Pilots' steering wheels began shacking and flight crew decided to return to the departure airport. Flight attendant looked out of the window and saw that the propeller of engine №4 had separated. It also ripped the bottom of the plane causing explosive depressurization. There was a hole in the floor providing a view of the ocean below.
Airplane was getting filled with the thick fog because of rapid air temperature and pressure changes. Soon the fog disappeared and the pilots discovered that aircraft was making a right turn on its own. Attempts to level off the aircraft were unsuccessful because both steering wheels did not move. Captain engaged the autopilot and the plane suddenly leveled off. Pilots started to descend to 3000 meters with the assistance of autopilot and at the same time they understood that engine power did not reduce by moving the throttles. In addition, trying to make a right turn the aircraft abruptly went into huge overloads. Only one action remained: flying in one direction, moving away from the shore.
Crew declared an emergency situation. At an altitude of 3,000 meters, the first officer was able to turn the steering wheel to the right and the plane began rolling. As it was impossible to reduce speed, the crew began to search for the longest runway in the area. The pilots considered a ditching but an air traffic controller suggested them fly to Anchorage with 3,200-meter-long runway. The distance to Anchorage was long, there were many high mountains in the vicinity and weather was unpredictable, but it was safer than ditching. That’s why captain agreed.
All emergency services in Anchorage had been informed beforehand and properly prepared for the distress traffic. Captain disengaged the autopilot and the first officer discovered that he could partially control the aircraft manually. In order to reduce the speed before landing, crew shut off the engine №2. At the moment before touching down captain realized that speed was too high and decided to go around. Pilots started the second approach from a height of 240 meter in order not to exceed the speed. After touching down, both remaining engines were shut down and aborted landing became totally impossible. Due to the emergency brakes, one of the landing gears caught fire. The plane lost control and veered off the runway. Luckily no one was injured in the incident. Video of landing.
The investigation failed to determine the cause of the propeller separation in flight. Control problems appeared due to the damage to the floor of the cabin, where the control cables were located. Explosive decompression bent the fuselage. As a result, the control cables were clamped and blocked. The autopilot's hydraulics pulled the cables with greater force, which is why it could partially control the aircraft. Pilots made much effort to move the both steering wheels. As a result, the manual control cables cut channels in the debris that clamped them and began to move. Thus, at the final stage of the flight, manual control was partially resumed.
The captain, first officer and flight engineer received awards. The captain continued his flying career until the age of retirement.

2024.05.21 19:56 3lite768 [OTHER] How a Zelda MMO Could Work

This is my proposition for the MMO, The Legend of Zelda: War of Hyrule.
Object of the game: The armies of Queen Zelda and King Ganondorf are at war. The game is over upon the assassination of either. The player must choose a faction and cannot change sides until the defeat of Ganondorf or Zelda. It will all start again after. Ganondorf and Zelda are controlled by humans whose full time job is playing the game. There will be six people playing as each. Three people taking an 8 hour shift Monday-Friday and three people on Saturday and Sunday. When one has to call in sick or use PTO, one will take over another's shift. They can turn on AI when they need to go to the bathroom or out to lunch. The people playing as Link and Dark Link are rewarded to the player with the highest kills of their respective factions.
Ganondorf has a country to the north of Hyrule, over the gorge, past the badlands complete with it's own castle, depths, sky islands, and surface. Players to his faction start there. The country is named Drogmire.
Hyrule has been restored and even expanded. Hyrule Castle is even bigger because they put in a middle section of the castle when it got separated and they now have a really big basement going to the bottom of the depths. The final boss area in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is repurposed to be part of Hyrule Castle. The damaged areas are also repaired. Hyrule Castle Town Market has been restored to contain a variety of stores.
The game is $10 a month. $5 with a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. The players of the winning faction get the next month free. Everyone pays the first month. If multiple victories happen in one month, only the first one counts. The monthly fee will contribute to the wages of the people playing as Zelda and Ganondorf, maintenance, and adding additional features.
There are ten playable races. Five to each faction. Everyone starts out with 23 hearts. 17 shrines per race. Other races cannont enter the shrine designed to that particular race. There is a boss at the end of every shrine, but only 17 total. You can rechallenge three of the bosses a day. Upon the completion of a shine a heart container will be awarded. Stamina vessels will be purchased for 2000 rupees each. More shrines may be added as time goes on.
There will be a new separate armor set for shoes.
You can create your own character's physical appearance in an avatar creator. Players have the option of letting AI suggest a physical appearance. In order to avoid everyone wearing the same looking armor, AI will decide what each set of armor looks like or you can edit it yourself. The effect of the armor is the same for everyone. The Hateno Dye Shop can make other alterations besides color change.
Fast travel is limited to once per day. Completed shrines are the fast travel points and the map builder. Shrines also act as a launchpad. Maps are unavailable in enemy territory. This prevents an absolute frenzy to one location when the locations of Zelda or Ganondorf are revealed. Fast travel cannot be done inside enemy territory except to exit. Entering is not allowed.
The new type of Goo called Bliss will he introduced. It is the glowing yellow version of Gloom. Those in Zelda's Faction will experience healing in Bliss while those in Ganondorf's faction will be hurt by Bliss. There will also be a new food called Light Clumps. They offer Bliss Warding for Ganondorf's Factions, but are poison to Zelda's Faction. Dark Clumps are poisonous to Ganondorf's faction. It will cause poison damage if used as a weapon such as fused to an arrow or a melee weapon.
Powers of Purah pads for Zelda's Faction and Astor pads for Ganondorf's faction include Ultrahand, Fuse, Autobuild, Ascend, Rewind, Stasis, and the three new abilities: Grow, Shrink, and Arrow Prefusion. They also act as phones to communicate with other players over a distance.
Playable races to Zelda's faction.
Hylian: Level 3 Stealth Unarmed ability is Earthwake. Sprint upon pressing B. Material drops upon defeat: femurs and ears.
Rito: Level 2 Cold Resistance Unarmed ability is Gust Flight upon pressing B. No stamina is consumed when gliding, but stamina is consumed when obtaining lift. Material drops upon defeat:Beaks and wings.
Goron: Level 2 Fireproof Unarmed ability is Charge. Rolling upon pressing B. Cannot swim, but can walk on bottom of water. Cannot ride horses except giant ones. Material Drops upon defeat are back shells and hands.
Zora: Level 3 Swim Speed. Unarmed ability is Water Slash. Sprinting upon pressing B on land, super speed swimming in water. Cannot drown, even when stamina is depleted. Can swim underwater. Material Drops upon defeat: Head and arm fins.
Gerudo: Level 2 Heat Resistance. Unarmed ability is Riju's Fury. Sprinting upon pressing B. Materials dropped upon defeat: arm bones and rib cages.
Playable characters to Ganondorf's faction.
Bokoblin: Level 3 Speed Up. Unarmed ability is charge. Sprint upon pressing B. Materials dropped on defeat: horns and fangs.
Moblin: Level 3 Bliss Warding Resistance. Unarmed ability is Ground Pound. Sprint upon pressing B. Cannot ride horses except giant ones. Materials dropped upon defeat: horns and fangs.
Lynel: Attack Up Level 3. Unarmed ability is Fire Breath. Dash upon pressing B at the cost of one full stamina wheel. Cannot ride horses, shield surf, or paraglide, or climb. Materials dropped upon defeat: Sharp horn and blunt horn.
Lizalfo: Shock Resistance Level 3 Unarmed ability is Water Ball Spit. Sprint upon pressing B on land, super speed in water. Cannot drown even when stamina is depleted. Can swim underwater. Materials dropped upon defeat: horns and fins.
Gibdo: Defense Up Level 3. Unarmed ability is Sandstorm. Flight upon pressing B. No stamina consumed when gliding, but stamina is consumed when obtaining lift. Materials dropped upon defeat: ribcage and wings.
Ganondorf, Zelda, Link, and Dark Link all have 40 hearts, three stamina wheels, and all max level buffs. All their stock weapons are unbreakable. Melee weapons do 100 damage unfused, bows do 50 damage, and shields have 90 Shield Guard.
In game communication is avaliable. A USB keyboard can be plugged into the Nintendo Switch. Voice chat is also available. Since all Gerudos must be female and all Gorons must be male, there is also an AI voice changer you can use to sound like your opposite gender. Not that a wrong gender sounding voice is unacceptable. It can also be used to personalize your voice for your other characters if you choose.
All forageable materials respawn every midnight in the Pacific time zone because that is where Nintendo of America is located.
Players can buy, sell, donate, or trade items at their own agreed price. To prevent inflation, there will be only 2 billion rupees in the game. The prices in shops will be adjusted by AI in a supply and demand algorithm.
Local 2 player splitscreen is available.
There will be robot factories where people can assemble their own robots that are AI controlled to hunt down enemies.
There will be a real estate system. Players can buy and sell land and houses. They can design their own homes and store any excess items there.
Champions and Divine Beasts
Whomever has the most kills within that race is labeled the Champion. Each Champion is rewarded with a mansion that has its own armory, storage space, and garage for their own Divine Beast. Only Champions may use Divine Beasts. Kills made while piloting a Divine Beasts do not count towards your kills to keep your position as a Champion or to play as Link or Dark Link because Divine Beasts are overpowered. The Divine Beasts include the ones from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and more for Hylians, and all of Ganondorf's faction.
Divine Beast Vah Epona: The Divine Beast that is a horse. Piloted by the Hylian Champion.
Divine Beast Vah Boko: The Divine Beast that is a boar. Piloted by the Bokoblin Champion.
Divine Beasts Vah Ursus. The Divine Beasts that is a bear. Piloted by the Moblin Champion.
Divine Beast Vah Leonis. Divine Beast that is a lion. Piloted by the Lynel Champion.
Divine Beast Vah Saurian. Divine Beast that is a serpent. Piloted by the Lizalfo Champion.
Divine Beast Vah Noctis. Divine Beast that is a bat. Piloted by the Gibdo Champion.
Kill Counts against AI based enemies do not count for being a Champion, Link, or Dark Link.
Death
Upon dying, another race within your faction must be chosen. Your other unplayed races will join you as avatars. The avatars can take damage and be defeated. Food can be used to heal Avatars. Avatars can be double teamed to use unarmed ability. Avatars have unbreakable stock weapons. Avatars can be healed with food. Upon the defeat of all five races, all can respawn. Upon your defeat you lose 1 of your weapons, bows, and shields for any surrounding players to grab. You will also lose 10 materials chosen at random.
New items Goron Bow: Normal arrows into fire arrows automatically.
Light Clump: Bliss Warding food. Poisonous to Zelda's faction.everything isthmus.
Armor of the Depths (Light Version): Bliss Warding armor for Ganondorf's faction.

The ground kept disintegrating in a five-mile radius. The number of point and line attacks targeting Dallion was so great that even the domain itself had trouble keeping up to protect him. Spikes would injure dozens, occasionally killing one or two in the process, but that would do little to hinder the mass of steel.
The noble with the steel tendrils slashed through the air, sending hundreds of line attacks in one blow. While each was individually weaker than those of a normal person, together they were a serious threat. It didn’t help that they indiscriminately sliced through soldiers on their way. The countess had no value of human life, least of those belonging to her.
Splitting into instances, Dallion combined a vertical line strike with a multi attack.

VALORR’s attack has been sliced in two.
Attack has no effect.

Dozens of red rectangles blinked in and out of existence, though even they proved unable to stop everything. The solution was for Dallion to fly higher into the sky, even though that would make him a prime target. At the same time, it also gave him the possibility to perform an area attack of his own.
Taking a deep breath, he did a spiral attack aimed at the archduchess, followed immediately by a magic music attack. It would have been better if he still had rays of destruction remaining, but most of the clay cylinders had already been used up, and Dallion didn’t want to risk venturing into his realm to make more.
As expected, hundreds of soldiers leapt in front of their nobles, performing an array of defensive line attacks. None proved strong enough to stop the spiral attack, but managed to slow it down so that the only thing that reached Priscord were drops of blood.
“I’ve over ten thousand, in case you’re counting,” she said in an amused voice. “And that’s without counting the reserves. But should you somehow manage to deal with them, the emperor has entrusted me with several legions as well.”
The boast made Dallion think. There seemed to be more beneath the spite. While ten thousand awakened was a massive army, it wasn’t the largest, and it definitely wasn’t worth bragging about. With the exception of the archbishop, all conquerors had armies in the millions. Not only that, but while she claimed that the emperor had entrusted her with his legions, there didn’t seem to be any cloud forts in the air.
“Then how about I take them at once?” Dallion whispered.
A wide patch of ground beneath the archduchess and her armies suddenly fell through, creating a deep pit. The armies in full plated armor scattered, in an attempt to escape, yet less than a thousand seemed to do so. The empress, in contrast, didn’t budge. The horse she had mounted remained floating in the air, as if nothing had changed. Not only that, but magic threads had also extended, keeping the two harpsisword nobles in the air as well.
Harp, what’s that? Dallion asked.
It’s not a creature I’ve seen, the nymph replied.
Having Vihrogon here would have been better, although Dallion strongly suspected that the creature had been created, or rather modified, like the crimson furies.
Taking no chances, Dallion quickly closed up the enormous pit. Before he could manage, however, thousands of soldiers flew up, filling the air. A few hundred were squished by the earth, slamming together, though not nearly as many as Dallion had hoped.
“Living armor,” he said. How come he hadn’t noticed that before? Whatever magic there was in the armors, it had to be hidden deep inside. “They’re a bit smaller than I remember them.”
“The original creators had a lot to compensate for,” Priscord replied. “I don’t.”
A new series of attacks filled the air.
In the blink of the eye, the entire space was filled with instances. Even if the common soldiers weren’t able to split into more than twenty, that made close to a quarter million facing three hundred.
A moment of shock went through Dallion, quickly replaced by a new sensation—the thrill of battle and the desire to defeat everything thrown at him.
The archduchess had covered all the angles: echoes to grant her minions strategy, artifacts to give them flight. It was also noticeable that despite their low levels, their speed was quite close to a hundred—another magic artifact or spell that had been cast. Even so, there was one thing that the woman had forgotten: a thousand people with a thousand separate skills couldn’t compare to one who could manage a combination of all, especially within his domain.
“Countess,” Dallion shouted, deliberately aiming to irk her. Red rectangles flashed non-stop as line attacks canceled each other constantly. “You’ve never been to the Academy, have you?”
“No.” The archduchess retained her cool. “I never considered it worth anything much, even when I gained my current title.”
“Let me tell you one thing…”
Of all the remaining buildings, books and scrolls flew out of the shelves. Like swarms of insects, they amassed, flying from all directions straight towards Dallion. It would be several minutes until all of them arrived on the scene, but that wasn’t of consequence, especially for what Dallion had in mind.

DOMAIN AWAKENING

Reality shifted. It didn’t shift just for Dallion. In less than a second, everyone in the real world was transported into the realm of his new domain. In many regards, things were no different than they had been before. Here, just as in the real world, Dallion maintained control over the realm. There were also a number of differences as well. For starters, Dallion’s feet existed here, as did a host of area guardians.
“Goldy, get her,” Dallion ordered.
The golden colossus emerged from the ground, dashing straight for the countess. In contrast to everyone else, its strength and speed were considerably faster, not to mention it was immune to spells.
Not in the least taken aback, Priscord snapped her fingers. All the armors of her soldiers—nobles included—burst, increasing tenfold. Apparently, the living armors were also blooming items as well. Being taken into the awakened realms had boosted their size and abilities to a considerable degree. How considerable, would soon be seen.
“You disappoint me.” Archduchess Priscord yawned. “Did you think that I wouldn’t have a counter for this? You think you’ll impress me by being a domain ruler? I’ve fought in such battles decades before you showed up.”
“That’s not the reason I brought you here.” Dallion attempted to complete a guard sequence, but the attackers didn’t let him, always disrupting it halfway through. “As I was saying, the Academy is probably the one place in the world that has the largest number of physical books.”
At that single moment, a spark of concern emanated from Priscord. She had grasped what Dallion was going for, and by all accounts it was too late to do anything about it.
Scholar skills combined with music, spell craft, and attack, releasing thousands of aether quills from the hundreds of thousands books and scrolls that existed in the realm. Like deadly hail they ascended on Priscord’s army on all sides. The outermost layers of the army tried to block the quills’ advance only to be drilled full of holes, like bullets drilling through a rotten scarecrow. And best of all, Dallion didn’t have to worry about the colossus guardian, since they didn’t affect him in the least.

Red rectangles filled the air like a sea of red. There were so many of them that they covered the entire sky, making it seem like a crimson sunset.
The sudden change in circumstances had forced a large part of the army to shift. Even with their boost, they still had to deal with the colossus, while also protecting Priscord from the aether quills. The momentary chaos created a single opening.
The harpsisword seemed to move on its own, slicing through two soldiers that blocked his way. The spark covered edge went through the massive armor as if it were butter, causing it to blast from the inside.

Two red rectangles emerged, after which the soldiers vanished as they were thrust back into the real world, their awakening powers sealed. That wouldn’t get rid of the echoes inside then, but at least made Priscord vulnerable here.
Thrusting his aura sword forward, Dallion cast a series of magic circles. Aether shards began shooting out, while chains targeted the nobles protecting the archduchess. To further cut off her support, Dallion pulled up the ground surrounding her, creating high cliffs. Unlike the other terrain changes in the realm, no one would dare attack these with line attacks out of fear of harming her. At this point, only one unknown remained—the horse.
Three of the nobles flew at Dallion, attacking him with their special weapons. Their armors, too, had blossomed into more elegant versions of living armor.
Bursting into instances, Dallion evaded the tendril sword’s attacks. At the same time, Gem flew in to meet the ax of another attacker head on. A loud cling resonated, pushing the aetherfish back, though by no means diminishing its determination. Meanwhile, Lux transformed the weapon he was inhabiting from a pair of bows to a crossbow, firing bolts of light at the third noble like a machine gun.
“Good work, guys,” Dallion whispered as he flew past, continuing towards his target.
I could take care of them easily, Gleam said, itching for blood.
I need you to keep an eye on Aqui, Dallion insisted.
She’s a great dragon! Even if she’s a cow, killing her won’t be easy.
Keep an eye on Aqui, Dallion said in a firm tone that quickly ended all protests.
A short distance away, the two nobles had combined their music skills, creating a shield around Priscord. Their skills were impressive, though nowhere near anything he’d seen in the former House Elazni. It was a novel use of their powers, though. Dallion made a note to experiment using in the future.
“Move away!” He shouted, using his own music skills, combining it with magic. His own music strands tore through the defensive mesh, striking both of the nobles.

PERMANENT EFFECT - PARALYSIS

The status continues to be in effect in the real world.

PERMANENT EFFECT - PARALYSIS
AVIRA has been rendered incapable of movement for 20 minutes.
The status continues to be in effect in the real world.

That’s two down, Dallion thought, tightening his grip round the hilt of the harpsisword. Only one left.
Splitting into fifty instances, he unleashed a spiral attack right at the archduchess. His expectation was that the horse would transform into something and block the attack. No such thing happened.
Priscord herself leaped off the creature’s back. A one foot dagger appeared in her hand with which she slashed the air, performing a line attack.

ATTACK NEGATED
Your attack has been sliced in two.
Attack has no effect.

Huh? Dallion instantly performed a series of line attacks.
This was the first time he’d seen a spiral attack be stopped and in such an effortless way. There was no way this could be due to Priscord’s strength. Even if he wasn’t able to see her white rectangle, the woman’s traits were well beneath the hundred. If nothing else, she wasn’t an otherworlder and thus subject to limitations. It had to be some artifact she was wearing.
“Admiring my weapon?” the woman asked, as she kept on negating Dallion’s attacks. “It’s a nice trinket given to me by the emperor. One of several.”
“So, it’s your trinkets versus my trinkets?” Dallion asked, taking the opportunity for a music attack. To his surprise, the harpsiswords held by the paralyzed nobles played on their own, negating it as well.
“Yes.” The dagger glowed purple. “That’s precisely it.”

2024.05.21 19:16 dumplingdumplingxxy Why is Air Canada the only (major) airline in Canada

Ok so I am asking this question purely out of curiosity and based on personal knowledge, so please forgive me if I miss some information. And I am not talking about Air Transat or Westjet here, more about legit flight companies.
Was there ever a time in Canada when Air Canada had a fair amount of competition from other airlines in Canada? Did the fed govt put up measures to protect Air Canada?
Also, I personally feel like if there was some competition, Air Canada would be a better company, cuz you know, they need to setp up and stop playing safe with the monopoly.

2024.05.21 18:48 krisolch On The Beach - Recent RyanAir deal not priced in by the market at all

On The Beach - Recent RyanAir deal not priced in by the market at all
On the beach is an intermediary website providing package holiday deals to customers from the UK to hot countries like Spain, Italy, France.
They compete with Jet2, Easyjet, Tui and to a lesser extent, RyanAir, WizzAir. Easyjet started package holidays in 2021 I believe.
I used to work at Jet2 8 years ago as a software developer and owned the stock from 2019 to now (on and off) so I know the market and this company and competitors very well.
Package Holidays are increasingly becoming more popular because it's easier for families to book a flight + hotel + transport + amenities all at the same time and have the company handle it. These also have higher margins than direct only flights.
Obviously covid 2020 was terrible for them, their profits went massively negative and they lost a lot of cash due to no business for basically a year+.
They did handle refunds much better than some airlines though and kept customers happy about that.
Then in 2021/2022 inflation hits, war breaks out (which hurt them to a lessor extend because they don't do eastern europe) and as a result, their SG&A goes up, their marketing is less efficient and their margins & ROIC drops as a result.
Why it's undervalued:
  • On 27th Feb 2024 they announced a partnership with RyanAir, this has ended a decade long legal battle with them, RyanAir did NOT like intermediary websites taking a slice of their business and as a result, OTB and RyanAir have been filing lawsuits against each other for years. This obviously resulted in legal costs year on year, however worse than that, RyanAir would actively stop OTB from scraping flight data and other stuff, this meant customers had a worse experience when booking RyanAir flights through OTB.
It also meant increased customer support costs, website costs (to constantly try and get around RyanAir obfuscation) and poorer customer experiences for those who book ryanair through OTB.
https://www.lse.co.uk/rns/OTB/partnership-with-ryanair-yy3ner9y8o9hraa.html
I cannot understate how big of a deal this is. RyanAir controls the majority of the flight traffic from UK to western countries.
As one commenter on that share chat points out (I still need to fact check this):
Ryanair account for c40-45% of OTB airline share with easyJet second at c25%. There is probably an interim solution being worked at atm and once technology like API feeds is sorted out there should be full access to Ryanair seat capacity and significant cost efficiencies and a much smoother customer proposition. This disagreement and litigation has been weighing on the shares for years and finally a great outcome.
This will result in a long term upgrade in revenue growth (happier repeat customers) and higher ROIC (due to less capex on website obsfucation stuff and access to ancillaries addons) in the long term than was possible in pre-covid.
RyanAir has said they will not enter the package holidays market, they will instead work with OTA's like onthebeach. As part of the deal, OTB cannot markup RyanAir flights:
As part of the deal, On the Beach (OTB) has agreed to sell Ryanair’s flights with no additional markup.
https://www.travelgossip.co.uk/latestnews/on-the-beach-starts-packaging-ryanair-flights
However, I believe this means they can still markup the package holiday to gain their margin on top. It's just the specific ryanair flight they have to sell at the same price.
  • OTB is expanding into the premium market, i.e 5* hotels and such. This market is an obvious one to go after in inflation, it is higher margin and less susceptible to downturns unlike the value market (the majority of OTB current revenue). OTB share of premium is growing fast.
The premium market continues to perform strongly with TTV growth in 5* holidays within the B2C segment of +41% YOY, and now represents 34% of B2C TTV mix (H1 23: 30%).
https://www.lse.co.uk/rns/OTB/interim-results-19il6ln0dv3yuz9.html
That's a massive YOY growth. As this slice becomes a bigger portion of OTB total revenue each year, it should result in higher margins.
  • Management is focused on getting back to pre-covid (and pre-inflation) operating leverage. This is the correct thing to do. One of the issues after inflation is that their marketing and SG&A costs increased but their revenue hasn't increased by the same amount.
Once inflation stays down, operating leverage should come back more as the fixed costs (employee wages) stop going up as much.
Flight revenue inflation has been quite high though which has stopped cost inflation hurting too much for OTB I think.
Management:
  • Management have been buying for the past 1.5 years around the £1.5 price.
  • The founder stepped down in 2022 and the CFO took charge. Usually I don't really like CFO's taking the helm but I think it's fine here, operating leverage and good finance skills is really what they need right now.
The CEO still advises:
Cooper, who remains a major shareholder in the company, will take a board seat and stay actively involved in the business, On the Beach stated. Cooper increased his shareholding in August.
Risks:
  • RyanAir partnership breaks down. If this happens it would be a huge blow. I doubt it though seen as this had been going on for a decade before this deal.
  • Competition, if you think Jet2, Easyjet, TUI's package holidays will take a slice out of OTB then OTB is probably fairly valued. Jet2 is very well managed and I have shares in them, however they have done package holidays for a decade+ now. Easyjet has poor reviews and is quite trash imo.
I think OTB should be fine here as they provide a very good service. Their trustpilot rating should also move higher now the RyanAir deal is done. Quite a few of the 1 star reviews historically have been ryanair issues.
  • Value market is currently down (due to inflation), if this continues long term because inflation doesn't stay down then this obviously hurts them.
  • Airline collapse, if an Airline collapses then OTB has to give refunds and it's a mess etc, see ThomasCook. None of the major airlines above look like they will collapse right now.
My valuation:
https://preview.redd.it/fdeftauw4t1d1.png?width=2085&format=png&auto=webp&s=fb6c78a114b6aad68490644272946ca3b96da884

The company was producing £15m-£20m from 2016-2019 in free cash flow. I think it could definitely get back to that and my DCF is too conservative maybe on the revenue growth part.
Thoughts? Anything I'm missing?
My main undervaluation point is around the RyanAir deal. OTB only spiked 8% on the announcement and now it's dropped again.
OTB is 10% of my portfolio.

2024.05.21 18:36 jdthejerk Grandson got the itch.

Jobs here suck, he doesn't want college or even an apprenticeship in the trades. He chatted with the Marine recruiter. I told him to join as a cook. With what he's learned from me, all he has to do is make the perfect omelet for the right officer. That will get him cooking in their mess, lol.
No USAF. Didn't qualify but for a few positions. Mailman, and MP.
Navy? No fucking way. The kid has serious thalassaphobia. He gets green in the gills if I tell the story of swim call over the Puerto Rico Trench. 27,000 feet of nothingness to the bottom. He refuses to hit the lakes and river in the canoe or kayak.
He spent most of yesterday with the Army recruiter. Going back today.
Cooking isn't bad for a 4 year hitch. Impress the right people and it COULD be pleasant and maybe get contacts in the civilian industry. Same with a construction MOS.
The boy is lazy though, lol. Smart enough to not sign anything without me or his grandmother there. She did 25 years in Air Force. 4800 in position flight hours. I was just a Deckape for 7 years.

2024.05.21 18:32 Vegetable-Change4674 Chances of getting hired while being the AF Reserves (non rated)

I will be separating soon from Air Force active duty to go dive in full time into flight training at a part 141 school in NJ in order to use my G.I. Bill.
My goal is to get hired by the airlines as fast as possible but I am worried about not having family insurance while training to fly. Does anyone have any experience with being in the AF Reserves or Air National Guard (non-rated) and how that might affect my chances of getting hired by the airlines. Considering it’s a 4 year commitment 1 weekend a month and two weeks through the year?
I will probally have all of ratings and flight hours to be hired complete way before the 4 year mark.
Does going into reserves sound like a good idea or should I tap into my wife’s job insurance which is about $800/ month and still has copays and deductible unlike Tricare?
And are there any airline pilots out there who have chosen to do 20 years in the reserves (non rated) while simultaneously flying for the airlines?

2024.05.21 18:31 Laumerent Limerence Song #2: Palm of Your Hand

Actually I wrote this one first about an LO that I met last summer. It was short but intense limerence.
V1
The palm of your hand, the sole of your feet
I had a nightmare that we'd never meet
The spark of your eye caught me in a smile
I haven't felt myself blush in a while
'Cause you make me nervous as if it's my purpose not sure if it's worth it or not
To tell what the truth is is probably useless I've likely already been caught
CHORUS
In the palm of your hand, hold me so tight and then don't let me go
You won't understand, I thank God in Heaven that you'll never know
We never meant to hurt anyone, but we flew to close to the sun.
The palm of your hand, don't ask why it's over before it's begun
V2
The top of your mind, the back of your head
Why do I still lie awake in my bed?
The front of your thought, the tip of your tongue
What hasnt' started can never be done
And if I am honest, aligned with my conscience, I'll never be able to share
The halo around you that's able to ground you has me sort of floating on air
CHORUS
BRIDGE
It's such a shame that a moth to a flame can never attain the light
The archer can aim all the bows that he wants but the arrow will never take flight
CHORUS

SPECIAL FORCE DESTROY DIRECT ENERGY WEAPON PLANE. UNITED STATES SPECIAL FORCES, DESTROYED an AIR FORCE BOEING 747 that had BEEN AIRBORNE over the TEXAS PANHANDLE when INEXPLICABLE FIRES ERUPTED on February 26, a source in General Eric M. Smith’s office Said. March 10, 2024.
United States Special Forces on March 5 destroyed an Air Force Boeing 747 that had been airborne over the Texas Panhandle when inexplicable fires erupted on February 26, a source in General Eric M. Smith’s office told Real Raw News.
The YAL is a modified Boeing 747 with an airborne laser (ABL). It was a collaborative project conceived in 2004 by the Department of Defense, the Air Force, and DARPA as a testbed for intercepting and destroying tactical ballistic missiles while in the boost phase. In 2011, then-Secretary of Defense Gates announced the project’s cancellation, claiming the airframe would need a more potent laser (20-30X) to prove viable on evolving battlefields such as Iran, and adding that the development of such a weapon was financially and technologically infeasible given the current state of technology. In February 2012, the prototype—ostensibly the only one produced–landed at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, where it was purportedly placed in storage at the “boneyard” operated by the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group until it was ultimately scrapped in September 2014 after all usable parts were removed.
Our sources, however, said the decommissioning story was a ruse to conceal a catastrophic accident. As the story goes, technicians were evaluating an upgraded chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL) when the platform misfired and vaporized the airplane and six workers. What the Air Force placed in the “boneyard” was a plastic and Styrofoam mockup, our source said.
Moreover, the DOD built four YAL-style aircraft for $26 billion, including development and research. YAL-2, of which there is no public record, caused the Texas Panhandle fires.
On March 4, White Hats learned that YAL-2 took off from Fresno Yosemite International—a joint military-civilian airport—at 3:00 a.m., February 26, and flew southeast toward the Texas Panhandle. It reached Amarillo airspace approximately 2.5 hours later, loitering there at an altitude of 37,000 feet for another 45 minutes. During that time, the plane circled above Pampa and Fritch, Texas, uncoincidentally close to what would be named the Grapevine Creek and Smokehouse Creek fires, the most devastating in Texas’ history. YAL-2 then climbed to 39,000 feet and flew northeast, landing eventually at Wright-Patterson Airforce Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Since a YAL holds 64,000 gallons of fuel and can remain airborne for 16 hours at cruise speed without mid-air refueling, the roughly 8-hour trip was well within its tolerance.
Our source would not share how White Hats obtained evidence of the flight’s existence—it does not appear on publicly available flight tracking applications—but said the proof compelled General Eric M. Smith to orchestrate a surgical, boots-on-the-ground operation, hopefully before YAL-2 again took to the skies.
“General Smith considered inquiring with supposedly friendly forces at Wright-Patterson, but then figured he better not. If any of them were double agents, they could’ve told the Deep State and got that plane in the air right away. Discretion is the better part of valor,” our source said.
The general asked 5th Special Forces Group commander Brent Lindemen to task his best soldiers with infiltrating the base and finding and destroying the plane.
Special Forces clandestinely penetrated the base at 1:00 a.m., March 5, and identified a hangar they believed housed YAL-2, as it was the only one guarded by four United States Air Force Security Forces members, the branch’s equivalent of Army MPs. Special Forces immobilized them using non-lethal force prior to entering the hangar and rigging the airframe with incendiary charges and accelerants attenuated to render the aircraft and laser worthless, without triggering a concussive explosion. YAL-2 burned to a crisp, a fitting end for a plane that itself caused unimaginable destruction.
White Hats received official confirmation of the plane’s destruction that afternoon. U.S. Army Cyber Command overheard a phone conversation between a high-ranking Air Force officer and a Democrat in the House of Representatives who is also a member of the House Armed Services Committee. The officer said, “Looks like we lost one.”
Our source was disinclined to share additional operation details, saying doing so could hinder the hunt for YAL-3 and YAL-4, the crew of YAL-2, and officials who had foreknowledge of the flight.
“We’ll destroy those planes and get the responsible parties,” our source said. “I think it’s safe to say anyone involved will get a rope around their neck.
Real Raw News is aware that other airborne or orbital DEW platforms exist. It’s broadly accepted among qualified researchers that similar tech was used against the Murrah building in 1995 and the Twin Towers in 2001. This article focuses only on the specific plane responsible for the Texas inferno.
Our source said YAL-2 caused the Maui fires, but we have not heard enough about that incident to write an article.
As an aside, it’s both frightening and amusing that reality mimics Hollywood: Airborne DEWs were first seen in the 1985 film Real Genius, in which a group of college nerds build a fifty-megawatt laser for the Air Force, only to sabotage it after realizing the government planned to use it as a weapon of mass destruction.

A rare event on a flight from London to Singapore resulted in the death of one passenger and the injury of thirty others owing to strong turbulence. Singapore Airlines has verified the deceased.
Flight SQ321, which was traveling to Singapore when it took off on Monday from London’s Heathrow Airport, “encountered severe turbulence” en route, according to a statement from Singapore Airlines.

After being rerouted, the plane touched down at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. (local time). One person died and several others were injured in a crash involving a Boeing 777–300 ER. To offer medical aid and send a crew to Bangkok for additional support, the airline is collaborating with Thai local authorities.
The pilot failed to issue a warning because the weather radar did not show turbulence, and the disaster happened while the passengers were not fastened to their seatbelts.
As a result, there may be injuries if passengers are flung around in the cockpit. This incident comes after another similar one in May of last year on an Air India trip from Delhi to Sydney, where turbulence wounded several people.

2024.05.21 18:02 ApplicationBrief9054 Does drinking alcohol on flights help in controlling fear / nervousness while flying ?

I am flying on a 10 hour flight on Thursday ( thankfully a day flight as I've noticed that night flights increase my anxiety 😭). Although I consume alcohol, I have never had anything in air ( the fear kinda makes me socially paralysed to ask for drinks or sometimes even food). Thinking of drinking this time and wanted to check what others on this sub have experienced with respect to this.

Hi Everyone,
So when I booked my ticket it just asked for First and Last name, no middle. I have a US passport with my full name (first, middle, last). This is a domestic flight with Nok Air. I can't really find any information on how to contact a US department for Nok Air either.
Thanks for the help.

UNITED STATES SPECIAL FORCES DESTROYED A SECOND AIR FORCE DIRECT ENERGY WEAPON (DEW) PLANE that THE DEEP STATE had HIDDEN at EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE near MOOSE CREEK, ALASKA, a SOURCE in GENERAL ERIC M. SMITH'S OFFICE SAID. March 19, 2024.
United States Special Forces last week destroyed a second Air Force Direct Energy Weapon (DEW) plane that the Deep State had hidden at Eielson Air Force Base near Moose Creek, Alaska, a source in General Eric M. Smith’s office told Real Raw News.
As reported last week, Special Forces ruined an Air Force Boeing 747 that had been retrofitted to house an airborne DEW, after confirming that the Deep State had used it to set off a raging inferno in the Texas Panhandle. The airborne weapon platform was one of three known to exist.
Early last week, friendly forces at Elmendorf AFB, in Anchorage, informed General Eric M. Smith and 5th Special Forces Group commander Brent Lindemen that a plane fitted with a laser had touched down at Eielson AFB on March 12. The Elmendorf source reportedly told Gen. Smith that the aircraft landed under a blanket of secrecy and that someone in a position of authority had purged the tower logs and placed all witnesses under a restrictive gag order. He also told Gen. Smith that Eielson AFB had only one vacant hangar capable of holding the lethal aircraft.
Our source said General Smith immediately ordered the Special Forces team that took out YAL-2 to make preparations to depart for Alaska. Special Forces landed at Elmendorf on March 13 and drove 380 miles to Eielson, an eight-hour trip.
“This was the safest bet. Landing them at Eielson would’ve been too risky. The heavily armed Special Forces team deboarding a surprise flight would have raised some eyebrows. A discrete insertion was prudent. But it was no cakewalk; they met hostile resistance,” our source said.
The Special Forces team had breached the perimeter undetected and approached within 100 yards of the hangar when they saw the crimson glow of a red lens flashlight and heard muffled voices carried on the wind. Eight figures donned in black tactical gear and baseball-style caps moved beneath a spotlight illuminating the hangar doors. Their appearance betrayed their identities, as military grooming standards forbid Air Force security personnel from wearing beards and sporting shaggy haircuts. Moreover, their weapons and gear of choice do not typically include body armor, Sig SG550 assault rifles, and AA12 automatic shotguns—heavy hitting ordnance.
Special Forces deduced that the Deep State had hired mercenaries—possibly Academi, formerly Blackwater, or G4S, a British multinational private security company headquartered in London, to guard the hangar. A few of the eight had foreign accents—U.K. and Australian, evidenced by their liberal and chummy use of the word ‘cu**’ in casual banter.
Special Forces considered their options carefully. The enemy matched them in manpower and firepower. A frontal assault with guns blazing would have been suicide. And sniping eight opponents without drawing gunfire and alerting the entire base to their presence would have needed divine intervention.
They waited impatiently, for in a few hours, it would be dawn, and the base would be bustling with activity that could’ve forced the team to abort their mission. Around 3:00 a.m. they caught a break as the enemy split into three groups, two patrolling the perimeter of the hangar and one sticking close to the doors. Special Forces snipers seized the opportunity to put suppressed shots downrange into the heads of the duo meandering at the doors as the remaining soldiers themselves separated into teams of three, each one ambushing three hostiles from the rear.
After confirming all eight were no longer breathing, they dragged the dead into the hangar, placing the corpses inside the vacant airplane before rigging it with incendiary charges that would incinerate aluminum and flesh. Only the engines’ titanium blades would survive the inferno.
The Special Forces team egressed the hanger and remote-detonated the charges.
“We can now confirm it is out of commission. Only one of those models is still operational,” our source said.
Asked whether Gen. Smith knows the location of the last plane, he said, “If we did, obviously I wouldn’t say until we’ve torched it.”
Sorry for the slowness! Been dealing with family crises and trying to thwart attempts to brick this website. Will be moving forward as fast as I can. Thank you all!
