2024.05.21 11:17 Randolla1960 Potential Deadly Issue

I bought a new gas cooktop for our kitchen remodel. It is a Capitol Maistro model MCT365GS-L SS That I purchased from US Appliance. It is the propane gas model
The cooktop was installed and we have been using it for a few months with no issues. We really like it.
One day we had guests over for dinner and as I turned off the last burner, there was a loud bang and all the knobs and burners were flung up into the air. Fortunately, the pot that was cooking did not get thrown all over me. This happened right in front of 4 of us.
The next day I contacted the service department of the manufacturer ADCO Service and spoke to a representative named Jerry. I explained the situation and gave him the model number, serial number and a copy of the sales invoice.
Later that day I received an email from Jerry that said "We are searching for a servicer and should have one in a couple of days"
A week goes by with no word so I send a email asking what is happening. Jerry sends me an email saying that "We are still searching for a servicer in your area"
We live in Waynesville NC which is 40 minutes from Asheville and an hour and a half or so from Knoxville.
After 3 weeks from my original complaint with no results, I decided to get firmer with ADCO. I sent Jerry an email saying that his reply of "We are still searching for a servicer in your area" was unacceptable and that I was putting them on notice that if I didn't get contacted by a Servicer in 48 hours or a tracking number for a new unit shipped to me, I was going to take stronger action. I also said that if my property was damaged or a member of my family is injured or killed because of this defective cooktop, I would be sure to sue them for anything and everything I could.
There has been no response from either a service tech or Jerry at ADCO.
So besides posting about this issue on social media, what do you suggest is my next move? I have contacted an attorney but other than that, do any of you have any suggestions?
Thanks
EDIT I emailed Jerry a copy of this post.

2024.05.21 10:56 Advance_Mobile_Led On-the-Go Advertising Solutions: Digital Billboard Trucks for Sale

There are a lot of digital billboard trucks for sale in the market due to their high demand. Many marketers use these vehicles to spread the word about an upcoming product, service, or event around a specific territory or location. Continue reading about why these LED trucks are a popular advertising solution for marketers.
The Top 5 Advantages of Digital Billboard Trucks
There are numerous reasons why companies invest in billboard trucks, and this is because of their campaign success through its many efforts.
Cost-Effectiveness
Due to their cost-effectiveness, you can spot many of these LED mobile billboards in New York and other big cities. Although they may cost much money upfront, high returns are expected. This is because many people see the campaign without advertisers having to pay extra for more, and people see their efforts since these billboards travel around the city.
In addition, these mobile digital billboards can target numerous target demographics for a limited amount of money. While traditional billboards are also effective, these mobile variants can roam around town, showing more and more individuals. Moreover, advertisers can maximize their financial returns with proper strategies like route optimization.
Wider Audience Reach
One of the key goals of marketing and advertising is increasing audience reach and impact. These trucks are ideal for high-traffic cities due to their size and eye-catching creative designs. Due to its dense population, LED billboard trucks in NY can often be seen. With this effort, there would be a broader audience reach by consistently moving trucks around a specific area and time.
To begin, many suppliers of digital billboard trucks are for sale nationwide, and businesses are encouraged to purchase one due to its numerous benefits. Businesses must strategically plan their specific audiences and geographic areas to maximize their profit.
These trucks can travel to locations where the target population is mostly present. Additionally, organizations can design a specific route for the truck. By going mobile, campaigns can easily reach more extensive audiences.
Targeted Advertising
As mentioned, businesses can specify their digital truck routes. These advertising efforts allow businesses to specify the truck’s location based on their target demographic. Basically, it ensures their messages are precisely delivered. Additionally, many businesses use other vehicles for advertising, such as personal vehicles and public transportation. However, maximizing these LED trucks by traveling to high-traffic areas of the target demographic can significantly and positively influence the campaign.
That said, businesses that approach these measures should partner with reputable advertising agencies to know where their prospects are. With the right amount of data, businesses can successfully implement campaigns by targeting their advertisements to specific locations.
Unlike traditional billboards, these LED trucks can travel to busy areas, including residential places where many targets live. Moreover, this targeted advertising would likely convert impressions into customers.
Boosted Visibility
More and more businesses are getting creative with their mobile LED billboard designs. These eye-grabbing layouts easily catch the attention of pedestrians and people in vehicles. This means that the campaign has boosted its visibility due to its creative efforts with the assistance of the LED trucks.
Additionally, partnering with the right supplier makes your designs visible day and night. This is an important aspect since these creatives convey the campaign’s message. An additional perk that comes with increased visibility is added brand recognition. These individuals may not know your brand initially but are now aware of the business’s products or services due to these efforts.
Real-Time Updates
Another reason for the increase in digital billboard trucks for sale is their ability to comply with real-time updates. Truck owners can change the graphics or messaging of the truck as they see fit. This versatile feature allows owners to maximize these trucks for various campaigns. Due to their highly customizable attribute, these modern advertising trucks can quickly update the display with just a button.
With modernization, brands could now even live stream on their digital LED trucks! There’s a reason why businesses of all sizes across various industries like to incorporate this into their advertising efforts, such as allowing the incorporation of dynamic audio.
How to Choose a Digital Billboard Supplier?
There are numerous LED mobile billboard providers in the market, and businesses must consider several factors before choosing one. It’s also important that the suppliers you partner with have the relevant experience and expertise to implement business campaigns successfully. Additionally, with numerous suppliers, choosing one with durable and reliable trucks is critical, ensuring your message is transported throughout the designated area.
Choose Mobile LED Trucks for Your Brand Promotion
Due to the rise in demand, numerous digital billboard trucks are for sale in the market. As previously mentioned, these trucks have numerous advantages, causing increased demand from businesses. Partnering with a reliable digital billboard supplier is important to maximize your organization’s investment. These collaborations help businesses generate sufficient return on investment (ROI), like campaigns with Advanced Mobile LED. Visit our website for more and contact information.

2024.05.21 06:53 JohnnySemper Did a dealer legally steal my truck?

Hi,
Back in February I left my truck off at a dealer for them to sell on consignment. They sold it in a few days. Since then, they never paid off my loan nor game me the profit.
After calling them every week and getting excuses and runaround, this last week I called and the told me they had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and to talk to their lawyer.
Lawyer is not taking communications.
New buyers are driving around with paper plates, with the registration still under my name.
I am stuck having to keep making the payments to save my credit while they use it and devalue it.
Did they legally steal my truck? Am I left holding the bag here if there aren't enough funds (which there will obviously won't be) in the liquidation of the company?
Seems like it's fraud and the sale should be reversed to me, but nobody seems to know. Any suggestions ?

2024.05.21 04:55 Alextryingforgrate PSA: When someone says 'Sorry it's not for sale.' Just respect it and move on.

So I've finally had my first really good ignorant 'yeah bit everyone has a price'
Long story short some random offered me 3500$ for my GMC Syclone after telling him my truck isn't for sale. So buddy gets all insulted that I told him he's not even in the ballpark with his pricing and continues to talk about a bunch of stuff he owns and how he picked up a scat pack or something, like it's a rights of passage.
I told buddy to add a zero to his offer so he's at least knows where the trucks are at for pricing. Then looked at me like I'm the crazy one when it comes to prices. Of course that's not even getting close to what I'm.willing to let it go for when someone wants to try and buy it off of me.
For me when I tell someone it's not for sale means it's not for sale and if you really really want this thing from me you will pay a very large sum of money for the thing I have that you want. To be honest I've never really put a number to that thing I have.

2024.05.21 04:43 CapriciousTrumpet15 Screaming kids in local brewery

I hate how common these posts are these days, ugh! Went to my favorite local brewery yesterday afternoon for dinner because I like the food truck that was there. Important to know: this brewery has no kitchen! They sometimes have chips for sale, that’s it. I sat at the bar, ordered my beer and started watching something on my phone while I waited for my food. Quickly realized that I was going to have to put BOTH of my noise cancelling headphones in because the 6 children sitting at the big tables on the other end of the brewery were SCREAMING. They were playing, jumping on and off stools and barrel tables, yelling…. It was horrendous. This is not a daycare! And the two toddler siblings are just wandering around while the 4-5 adults just sit there eating and drinking. WHY!!!! I can’t fucking stand it. This isn’t Chili’s, where there’s a kids menu and placemats to draw on. This isn’t a brewery with a kid safe play area, giant games, or a place for them to run around. I was literally stepping over their stupid fucking toys when I walked to the bathroom. Why are people so selfish and self-centered? The cherry on top of the sundae was when one of the dads came up to the bar and asked the beertender “do you have any tissues?” BITCH WHAT?! Beertender looks at him and hands him two paper towels and said it’s this or toilet paper from the bathroom.
Idiots.

2024.05.21 03:46 pmattson024 2019 Silverado 1500 5.3 8speed new motor at 49k

(Not a For Sale post!) Just got my truck back after it being at the dealer for warranty work.
Little background it’s a 2019 1500 LT, I bought it with 35k on the dash, from a Chevy dealer was certified. Older gentlemen with a corvette owned it before I did. All I have done to the truck was install aftermarket rear shocks.
Woke up one morning and had to go out, remote started my truck got to the bank to take out cash, mind you it’s early so I pulled up and left the truck running, came back out immediately heard the standard lifter tick and called the dealer.
Dropped it off, did the whole service thing lucky they gave me a loaner, so right bank was toast, replaced, still ticking. Tech says okay I’ll put new in the left bank, even tho there was nothing wrong. Still ticking. Tech installs new head gasket still ticking. This is 2 weeks in.
Service calls TAC which is if I remember correctly chevys warranty division when there’s a problem that can’t be fixed. They come in. Tells the tech to replace the camshafts. Tech goes to replace the camshafts, one half got seized in the motor.
Tech goes back to TAC and said to give me a new motor. Paperwork says refurb motor. So at the end of the day did I make out considering I didn’t have to pay a penny? Is the truck bad luck lol? Should I sell it, is the 6.2 any better? Buy a ford or ram lol? Do I keep it? Do I call service? Anything seem off to anyone, I tried to include all info and I’ll try to update with the service paperwork after I blank out my info.
Thanks!

2024.05.21 03:42 T_C_SINSKI First time charcoal experience. A story.

I honestly don't think I've ever eaten off a charcoal grill in my entire life. All of my friends and family use gas. I've always used gas. Until today.
Open up the garage to pull out the old gas grill. It's super janky. My dad handed it down to me when a graduated college and bought a house. The igniter doesn't work so you have to light it by throwing lit paper inside after turning the gas. on. When I was in high school I watched my dad burn his eyebrows off when he got distracted and waited too long. Yeah fuck that I say to my self, as I pull up the Home Depot website new grill time.
Holy shit gas grills are expensive, just bought a water heater. Guess one more year with old faithful. Go to light it up. Out of Propane. Fuck this, face book market place it is. Find a Webber Premium with a cover and charcoal chimney for $125, a 10 minute drive away. Do some research, seems legit. Message the guy, and the meet is on.
Drive over to the sellers house. Older dude, late 50s early sixties. Seems a bit wistful. He told me he's upgraded and now his wife wants him to sell this one. I check out the grill. It's clearly been used, but there doesn't seem to be much that can go wrong with it so I agree to buy it. I explain I had always used gas, but my grill has gotten kinda janky and I'm gonna try charcoal this summer.
Dude seems to perk up a bit, tells me that it's the perfect time to buy a new grill with the summer starting and this one will do great. I Venmo him the money, we shake hands and I load my new grill for me load it into my truck (wow it's nice and light). Swing by Home Depot buy some charcoal (Kingsford Original), and the Mexican market to buy some adobe Chicken.
Get home and dump some coal in the chimney and light it. Go in grab a beer crack it, chit chat with my wife a bit and fart around on my phone. Head outside to check the progress. That smell. Delicious. I had alway thought people were smoking meat when I was walking around the neighborhood , but it's just charcoal.
Getting kinda excited, I let it heat up and throw the chicken on and wait a couple minutes. Go to flip it. Wow . . . grill marks, nice crispy bits at the edges. The peppers I cut up now have a nice black blister.
The flavor is so much better, a little bit of smokiness, but not overwhelming. It was also the best looking food I have ever grilled. I wish I had taken pictures.
Summary: Hank Hill was wrong, charcoal is clearly better and honestly not that hard to do pretty well you just have to be a bit patient.

2024.05.21 03:14 IAmInCa Recovr System snuck into my truck sale

I purchased a new maverick. A week later, I get a Recovr device sent to me from the dealer. They said it was on my deal and that I’d signed up for a several year contract. It wasn’t listed anywhere on the sticker or on any of the documents I signed. Clearly, someone was trying to slam me with this unneeded and useless GPS service. I brought it to the attention of the sales manager, who said it had been happening more frequently due to one of their employees. Sounds like that employee may have gotten the boot.
The sales manager said that it was part of my contract, which again I cannot find on any of my documentation or notice it in the pricing. I financed through an independent third-party bank. I got a “refund” check for well over $3000 from the Ford dealer. Problem is, I don’t see where they ever charge me for this in the first place. When I add up the MSRP and add tax and registration, the numbers all look correct. It’s hard to turn down the $3k+, but at the same time I don’t want to cash a check, even if it is accompanied by note that says it’s a refund for some thing I never asked for.
Not sure what to do. I called up the sales manage and he said he was sure I was owed the refund, but deep down it doesn’t feel right.
Again, hard to turn down money, as it would come in handy either in paying down the principle of my truck loan, or flying to Vegas and putting it all on Black.
Has anyone heard of a scam like this? In particular, where they send you a big fat check that doesn’t fully make sense?
Could use some counsel.
Thanks for any help.

Delivery Day (1 Week ago)
https://preview.redd.it/kw9pe7ku6o1d1.jpg?width=1739&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a1e1a348346d250d4746704a54adc426aaf389f
What a journey that happened very quickly and just as easily couldn’t have happened for another few years! Fair warning, for a Rivian post, there’s a whole lot of Tacomaworld speak in this story, but spoiler alert, the home team did not win this time.
So I’ve been driving exclusively trucks since I got my license (about 25 years now), I’ve had 5 Tacomas (6 if you count the 1st gen farm truck I just inherited) covering every generation made. I’ve been a loud proponent for all trucks to be 4x4 and long bed, otherwise “what’s the point”. I’ve had hard shells, soft shells, road tires, off road tires. Done basic, TRD, Lariat, Hybrid (2005 GMC Sierra - a story for another time). I’ve leased probably 10 vehicles for myself and helping others navigate the sometimes challenging details (dealers can really screw some people if they let them), and there’s a reason that 5 of my vehicles have been Tacos. They were the best of what there was for what I wanted and needed. Someone told me recently they’re like reiliability without all the nice things where everyone else is all the nice things without the reliability. I love tech, I love data, dashboards, and I’ve wanted to live in the future since I was a kid reading Bradbury and PKD. Always been a dream to own electric and daily jealous of the numerous tesla drivers I see everyday in Austin. I thought how much I would enjoy one but if only Tesla made a truck!
Well, I saw the Rivian a few years ago and checked it out. After I built my dream setup only, I came to the sad realization that I couldn’t spend over $100k on a truck, not to mention that it looked so damn FANCY inside, I decided it wasn’t for me. (Side note, after I sold my F-150 lariat with full leather, I got cloth in my recent tacoma and will not buy leather again, so the interior on the Rivian is a huge plus for me because I hate cloth and am not the kind of person who should have a seat that’s not easy to clean)
About that time I heard about Canoo and put $100 deposit down on their truck. It’s just a rendering and that may be as far as they get, but one thing I know is that I wouldn’t buy one until Canoo is at least as far down the road as Rivian is now.
So my lease is up in March and I’m not sure what to do. I go in and tell my sales guy I’ll just take the usual (Dark Gray, Black rims, long bed, TRD Off Road), thank you very much. He lets me know that the 2024 has a waiting list the length of his arm so I reach out to Toyota who graciously gives me a 6 month extension. Didn’t know that was a thing until the salesman told me! Then I set my sights on the Tacoma Trailhunter. Oh man what a sweet ride. Comes with a hybrid drivetrain and FINALLY 20A outlets in the bed. Leather interior that doesn’t come from animals. Old Man Emu shocks, custom metal bumper, factory 2” lift, and so on. I put my name down on “the list” at a few dealerships and then start waiting.
And then, the same week, RJ unveils the R2. I’m interested so I watch the live stream and I’m blown away by the ethos. The thought and care that goes into the product. A vehicle made by real people trying to solve real problems. Not a truck with the same dash screen and “N/A-tainment” system for the last 10 years. Damn. If the R1T is anything like this, maybe I can make it work. Crisis time.
I check out the friends and family site and actually put a $0 deposit down on an R1T. It gets canceled without any notice. I figure it was for the best, I wasn’t really ready yet and didn’t actually want a quad motor.
I live in an apt complex without a charging option. This is a big problem. I asked this sub and the consensus was - wait. You’ll be miserable if you can’t charge at home. Fair, I give up again. Couple weeks go by and I just pop into the leasing office and ask - you ever thought about getting a charging setup (there’s an R1T launch green quad and a couple teslas in my complex, but I’ve never talked to them) and she responds - you know it’s funny you ask bc we just got a quote back today and I think we’re going forward with it.
So that night I put my $1000 down and one week later I pick up this beauty. Funny thing, I really like launch green and didn’t know there were two greens so was kind of dissapointed but then realized I really like this color.
I actually wrote this once before but Reddit only posted my pictures, so I had to get the energy back to share again. Now it’s been a week and I’m glad I waited.
Here’s the bottom line (some of this will sound very familiar)
  1. This is the best truck I’ve ever driven. Period.
  2. The lease is the way to go EXCEPT for the scam that is paying for tax on full value, not just the leased portion. Only negative from my financing experience. I have all the details if you are interested.
  3. I will never go back. How can I?
  4. Not having a charger at home is not a problem for me. I live 1 mile from a whole foods with a tier 2 charger. I’m a nomad worker. Sometimes I work from home, coffee shops, jobsites, etc. I stop at WF on the way home and catch a charge and it’s no big deal. I might even argue it’s downright convenient. I also frequent the Bastrop area 30 miles east of austin, and I pass the airport which has another Tier 2 charger. Other than charging time, it’s no less convenient than pulling off the highway to go to a gas station.
  5. Carplay is a great replacement for poorly designed OEM displays. It’s just objectively not better than the Rivian ecosystem. I’ve been using Spotify for idk 10-15 years and I’ve tried apple music numerous times (especially when some artists like Jay-Z refused to be on spotify) and I just can’t get on board. Spotify gives me new music I like. Apple just wants me to only listen to Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. Apple maps is good. It’s gotten so much better, but the planning functions on the Rivian outweigh any benefits imo. As far as the glitching that happens, I just report it every time it happens. They need our data to make it better so I’m giving it.
  6. Yes, my left liftgate cable is loose. I sent it in to service.
  7. Have to slam my right side gear tunnel. Sent to service.
  8. Didn’t even think about the built in wifi until after delivery, but now I can work from ANYWHERE. Love that more than anything.
  9. I was worried about the skyroof or whatever it’s called. I had similar in my F-150 and I never opened the shade bc of the Texas sun. They nailed this. I can look at the sun and laugh now and I love how open and light it gets.
  10. Gear tunnel fits Sidio crates perfectly. You’re welcome.
  11. Pet mode is a life changer.
  12. Phone as a key is not perfect but it’s also not bad. Sometimes it just wants me to pull out my phone and threaten to open the app.
  13. The air suspension is amazing. I didn’t think I would be so fine rolling around in low all the time but man when you jack up to highest in off road, this thing is MEAN.
  14. I’m paying less for this lease than I was for my 2015 F-150 Lariat fully loaded (fully) and less than I would have with the Tacoma Trailhunter including the “surge” pricing everyone is predicting.
  15. Everyone loves it and once I show them around, they want one.
I’ve never named a vehicle before but this is more an adventureship than a truck, so I spent a lot of time thinking about what the name needed to be and what it meant.

2024.05.21 01:27 MrPurplesPerspective A comprehensive breakdown. [DD] Please Read.

The current situation as of Monday May 20th after market.
Today has gone rather well, you should all be proud of yourselves. You are a true community and I count myself lucky to be considered among your ranks. Thank you. Alright, enough with the sentiment. Here's what we're looking at:
We have had resounding success in our squeeze attempts especially last week, but this isn't over. Too many of us are still hurting and hungry. The short sellers have only grown bolder with their conviction, therefore we must in kind.
Faraday Future is a Chinese auto manufacturer out of California. Their focus is building the next generation of AI powered electric luxury vehicles. They have had a rough go at things, I'll be honest. Primarily meeting dead lines, they even faced a recall once. Does that mean that they are doomed to bankruptcy and better left forgotten?
There are plenty of tech companies that are started with the intention of disruption and not worrying about revenue. Look at every business that started by operating at a loss. It's most businesses in existence. They have just started making deliveries. 10 in total in 2023. Doesn't sound like a lot does it? Yet they still have products on the street. We look at $3,000,000 and think yeah so what? That's for 10 cars. What happens when there's 1,000 cars out on the street? You can go ahead and add two more zeros. Is it a niche market? Yes. But in the US, 2023 alone accounted for the sale of 2.6 million luxury vehicles.
Let's talk about AI for a second. Can you go anywhere online without having AI slap you in the face? It is being developed at break neck speeds, anyone worth their salt will tell you that it will redefine every aspect of life as we know it. It is our future and it's coming whether we are ready for it or not.
These cars were designed solely around this idea. As the technology develops we will see it incorporated more and more into everyday life. To me that sounds like an early adopter. Will there be hiccups? Absolutely. But how far have things come in such a short amount of time?
The cars are sleek and surprisingly powerful boasting over 1,000 horsepower. I have absolutely zero doubts that AI cars are the future of transportation.
One last thing before I get into the technicals.
Elon Musk.
Regardless about how you feel about the man, he has a certain X factor. Whether that's his disregard for the wellbeing of his customers, company, employees, self image, or the SEC, he's a rather polarizing figure. People either love him or hate him. I'm not advocating for either side. But one thing is clear, Tesla isn't doing so hot. Between the cyber truck(love it or hate it) or the stiff competition it's facing from traditional automakers, his biggest prospect is the supercharger network.
This may speak to how niche the demand for electric vehicles is, but it also may speak to how driving a Telsa comes across. There are people that would rather not be associated with the man's actions and opinions. The target audience of EVs are people that are generally environmentally conscious. This seldom aligns with Musks political ideals.
Faraday still has a chance at the prospect of disruption.
Now to the technicals.
FFIE
Despite the successful squeeze of short sellers, short interest in FFIE still remains high at 95.37% at time of writing.
Borrowing fees for shorting the the stock are quite high at 11.57% at time of writing.
The possibility of a short squeeze is determined by various factors, these factors include but are not limited to:
-Short interest - % of shares borrowed
-Borrow fees - % of fees to borrow shares
-Buying pressure - ratio of buyers to sellers
-Days to cover - the time it takes for short sellers to cover their shares by buying them
-Catalyst - a lightning rod
It is paramount that these things align to create the perfect storm in order for the chance of a short squeeze to occur.
The fact that we have successfully used this tactic recently has emboldened short sellers and has dug them in. It'll take more than buying up shares to make them fold.
We know that we have 3 pieces out of 5, we're only missing the final 2.
Days to cover and a catalyst.
Days to cover needs to be high, as it will make them struggle to cover themselves when they start to incur losses the longer we can prolong that the more suseptible to losses and thus panic they will be.
Days to cover is calculated with a rather simple formula: number of shares shorted/the volume of shares traded.
In order to raise this number, we must dry up liquidity. We do that by holding. We have been operating at history making volumes and it's truly impressive but now we must attempt to narrow this down to focused bursts. For every buy there is a sell, and if the short sellers can just buy immediately the days to cover will remain low. Saving them from stress and extreme losses.
As for the catalyst, well, we've kind of already got that sorted. NASDAQ compliance, we hold them off until the CEO has his webcast, this also coincides with earnings. Now this one is a bit of a double edged sword. Failing to remain Nasdaq compliant could spook short sellers out of their positions, but it could also be seen as a bullish situation for the company. We, of course, will take advantage of the latter. Which mean we must hold them off until the 28th of May. Any news will be good news at this point. He may even address the share price directly.
If we combine these things properly and we won't just create the perfect storm, we will become the perfect storm.
Final notes.
SEC Alternative Uptick policy will no longer be in effect tomorrow. This is okay, but it will likely cause the naked sellers to come back out of the woodwork. What they are doing is illegal and unethical. Do not fear them for they are cowards and cheats.
I am grateful to all of you, some of you have faced so much to be with us here and you are all appreciated. Each one of us thanks you.
Apes together strong.
This is not financial advice, and this is for educational purposes only, never gamble with money that you can not afford to lose. Please.
This is a perspective brought to you by Mr.Purple. Thanks for reading.

2024.05.21 01:16 little_ezra_ [WTS] Leatherman supertool 300, gerber armbar, knockoff benchmade 940, olight arkfeld, xm18 scale.

Timestamp
I've got quite the spread of stuff today, so pardon any mistakes or meandering in this. I was just going through all my stuff and realized I really didn't need these and never used the stuff here. Figured it could use a better home and I will try to sell at a decently low price. Also just broke the wheel stand for my sim wheel and need another one, not to mention Blade show Atlanta
Most of the stuff added
original post, ignore the mini hera its already gone
$65 Leatherman Supertool 300. I found this on the ground while working somewhere like 4 hours after everyone else left. It had a few broken screwdrivers (or pry bar to the original owner) and I sent it to leatherman for them to fix it. They sharpened the blades as well. Is in good condition but is very well used. If anyone wants a leatherman just to stick in the junk drawer or in their truck this would be a good one for that. This is engraved with "FJB" and was that way before, thought I might should mention that.
$25 Gerber armbar trade (I think its a trade) I bought this on sale cause I thought I would actually carry it. I barely carried it compared to the leatherman you see above. It is good for what it is and for the size is useful, just I'm fine carrying larger multitool so this thing just sat in my backpack for 2 years.
$55 Olight Arkfeld Pro. This was my first "nice" light that I bought. Carried this quite a lot, its a little dinged up on the edges but works and functions great, I've just started to prefer higher cri lights and don't carry this anymore. It carries well and the laser is useful. The UV light doesn't have any use for me but is fun to play with.
$25 CLONE Benchmade 940-1. Comes with Carbon fiber scales, no idea what blade steel. Has been sharpened poorly and I tried to fix it. Has gotten better but has picked up a little bit of a recurve and the sharpening does not look good. I don't know what steel it is but it was hard for me to sharpen with the diamond plates I had. The action is great and could be a fidget toy, is sharp right now but don't know what steel it is so I don't know how long it would actually stay sharp. I'm still kinda mad at this knife since I traded thinking it was a real 940 with a friend without knowing that the fakes would look so close to the real thing.
$25 Hinderer xm18 3.5 black micarta scale. Used and not the cleanest looking. I got rid of my normal xm 18 and now have a skinny so have no use for this.
$10 (add on) Flytanium UFO brand new in box. I bought a three pack and only needed two, I would prefer to make this add on because of what shipping would be but if you really want it we can talk.
All prices I feel are low but I am open to disccussion. Not really interested in trades right now but if you see something you'd like to trade for shoot me a dm. Thanks you for making it this far.

2024.05.21 00:49 fourzerofourdoge Great American RV Superstores - A Great Way to Wreck Your Credit Score [And receive terrible post-purchase service.]

I don't like badmouthing businesses. I have run one for many years and it's rough. You can never please everyone all the time, and it absolutely kills me emotionally (though perhaps it shouldn't) to have an unsatisfied customer.
But I must tell others about this so that perhaps they can be spared the financial and emotional frustration that this dealership has caused us, and likely will continue to cause us.
This is a companion post to my post in CreditScore , but will focus more on our experience with the dealership than the impact to our credit scores.
My story begins as follows:
We bought a travel trailer a bit ago. It's been nearly a month now since our first interaction with the dealership, Great American RV Superstores.
We went to this dealership (one of many, actually) looking for a travel trailer that would suit our needs well, with as little modifications as possible-- I'm busy, and wanted to use the thing for vacations and such, not have another project to work on.
The sales experience was fine. The salesman was happy to show us around, offer us drinks, tell us about the travel trailers they had, even show us ones that were kind of outside of our intended scope just since we were curious about them. Very reasonable experience, overall. I have to temper my expectations here, since my partner and I absolutely hate interacting with strangers in a sales environment. Overall it was fine, though I do feel sales was pushy, and financing (which we'll get to in a moment) even more so.
Over the course of a week or so, we eventually came back and settled on a Jayco trailer they had-- it was mostly what we wanted and would need the least modifications to be what we wanted to become our 'dream RV' for what I felt was a reasonable price, compared to building the entire thing from the ground up out of a utility trailer shell-- it would even be cheaper, not to mention save me time.
This is unfortunately the end of the 'good' part.
We figured we'd put the trailer on credit for a month or so while we sold off some stuff, avoided early withdrawal penalties, etc.. I did the math, it would be cheaper like this than paying fees to move money faster, and we wanted the trailer for an upcoming trip.
Excited, we gave them a deposit [they accepted a credit card for this] of $1000.
Now, they originally tried to request $5000, and I looked at them like they were nuts. That's more than 20% the purchase price. The deposit on my truck wasn't anywhere near that much, despite having a much higher sticker price than the trailer. This should have been my first red flag.
We came back the next day (we had stuff on our schedule, literally did not have time for 2 hours of paperwork that I was confident would ensue).
The dealership did not want to take a credit card for the non-cash portion, which I understand but was kind of annoying. It's not that much, and I can't just bounce a check or credit card charge on a registered vehicle and just get away and get to keep the thing-- It's not like you can hide an RV trailer that well; the thing is nearly 30 feet long.
No worries, they said they could offer financing, and all it'd cost me was one credit pull. The salesman and financing manager went away, and came back a few minutes (well, ~20 minutes) later.
There was, at that point, as they said, a credit pull for both me and my partner.
They came back with an insane interest rate, something like 19%. I told them that I wouldn't sign something so insane, and we'd come back later in a few weeks or so and buy the RV if it was still available in cash, no financing. This should have been my second red flag, but of course, me being bad at and stressed during social interactions, I ignored this one, too.
They really didn't like the idea of us not buying the thing asap (duh), and said they could see about getting us a better rate. I told them that if they wanted to offer something else, to just call me. [Important, no additional papers, etc. were signed at this point. I did not sign any 'loan application' papers.]
The next day they came back with an offer for an interest rate of about half that, which while still bad imho, was fine enough and within the realm of reason given what interest rates are right now.
We went back to sign the paperwork... more problems ensued.
We drove ~1 hour to get there, and waited for like 2 hours, and then they told us they could not get us the paperwork to sign as the bank was closed, so we'd have to come back the following week.
What. The. F***.
Now, I understand that this is not common perhaps, but I assume more common for people buying RVs-- our time is very valuable, and I don't mean just in terms of what we bill people (though, that too in a lot of cases). We're short on time, have too much we need to get done almost always, and wasting an hour or so of our time in an area with basically no cellphone reception and being unable to accomplish any work or spend this time effectively on something we wanted is not something we were pleased with, and has a very real dollar cost for us. We effectively wasted 4 hours of both our time going there, waiting, and driving back-- 8 man-hours for what? Nothing.
Regardless of our over-inflated time valuation, I don't think anyone should have their time wasted like this. We would not require this of a customer of ours, regardless of their salary or status, it's just disrespectful.
This should have been our third red flag.
Anyways, we were promised a $200 gift card and they seemed genuinely apologetic, saying their head finance manager was out today and they were doing their best to carry on without them, and had just been unaware that the bank was closed at that point and thus couldn't produce the documents.
Okay. Fine. We left again.
We returned the next week, and finally they had paperwork to sign-- a lot of it... holy sh*t I have never seen so much paperwork to buy something. This was more paperwork than there was for our house, I am not kidding. Over 100 pages probably if you include other documents referenced by these. I read them all, I insisted, before signing. The guy did not appear pleased with this-- I realize his time is valuable, but who in their right mind signs something without reading it? It had all sorts of things that would, if we were not in the position we are, potentially be devastating. (Example, they were not very forthcoming on the fact that there was a 'demand function' on the loan-- the bank can just demand it be paid right away, in other words, because they feel like it.)
Again, that should have been another, and the final red flag. We should have walked away. But, I'm here writing this, so that's not what happened. Sunk cost fallacy and all, I guess.
So, we finally get through several hours of reading things, asking them questions, etc.. They lied a bunch through their teeth I'm sure, but this post is already too long to even start listing the things I worry about.
Once we had actually managed to get the thing purchased, they had some guy take us back and do a walkthrough of the travel trailer to prove everything was working on delivery, etc.. Honestly, I feel this walkthrough should have been it's own day given how many things there are on the trailer, and how many involve things that you have to wait on to see if they're really working properly-- like an oven, an air conditioner / heater, that sort of thing; but it's not like this lasted more than 10 minutes of the guy turning things on, asking me if I knew propane was flammable, etc..
Walkthrough guy was nice, didn't have a problem with him, but he (especially for someone who works in maintenance) didn't seem well informed. He advised me, for example, despite the travel trailer's converter / battery charger being rated for use with a Lithium replacement battery, not to do this, because it could 'blow up the electrical system'. While I am confident that the trailer's 'auto detection' feature isn't really that, and have since inspected the battery charger and it's workings, I assure you a compatible lithium replacement battery would not 'blow up' the electrical system.
He didn't even know where the circuit breakers, etc.. were, didn't know what size the water tank was, where it was, what certain ratings were, when I asked. At this point, I was mostly testing to see if they had any idea how this thing was put together, because I'd become suspicious. The guy, while nice, failed the test horribly.
This was all very disconcerting, because they are the only Jayco partnered dealership in range of our home.
We hitched up the trailer with the help of the sales guy, who incorrectly instructed me on how to hook up the break-away safety cable, and left with the trailer.
When we got it home, we hooked it up to power, water, and sewer, to go run through our actual bunch of tests.
The following things do not function correctly on this trailer:
1) The roof-mounted solar panel and charge controller for the 12v system. Completely non-functional upon arrival, and during the walkthrough (though we were told it was because there wasn't enough sun during that time). I eventually went and troubleshot this enough to determine that the entire ground wire from the charge controller was completely disconnected from the 12v system, which of course made it useless. I fixed this, but I should not have had to spend this time doing so.
2) The oven. The pilot light requires you to hold the knob in after sparking it for ~5 minutes before it will stay lit. The instructions say it should take ~5 seconds. Oven is basically useless, no one has 5 or 10 or 20 minutes to fight with it to get it to keep the pilot light lit. The walkthrough person did not check oven function, just asked, if I knew how to use it. (Yes, I do, I've owned RVs before. In fact, the Jayco travel trailer from 1985 that I use as a storage shed presently, the oven in there STILL works just as it did when new.) I have /no idea/ how to fix this, and the dealership has ignored me when I've asked them. They say they'll get back to me, they do not.
3) The air conditioner / heater. They start up, sure, but they don't stay going. The AC seems to cut out any time there's a slight voltage fluctuation on the 12v system that powers the thermostat, etc., and this happens regularly of course when you turn a light on or off or something. To get the AC to restart, you have to completely power off the system at the thermostat, and wait ~1 minute, and then power it back on. I've not solved this yet, but I'm sure I likely can... by reverse engineering the thermostat control standard and replacing it with something else, and/or stabilizing the power supply to the appliances using some electronics... but still, why should I have to do this? The thing's brand new.
4) The water pump. It rattled SO MUCH and was not screwed down properly that it almost dislodged the piping when we fired it up during testing. Eventually after some back and forth with the service guy over the phone, I settled on a solution which he admitted would not in any way void the warranty-- pipe insulation to keep the rattling down throughout the trailer (I just purchased this from Home Depot and put it on), and some extra rubber and foam, and a slightly thicker screw to hold the pump in place properly.
5) The shower plastic shroud. The backing is incorrectly / poorly installed, bulged up, etc., around the bottom, making it harder to clean. I should have noticed this but, again, with only a ~10 minute walkthrough... :/ I'm sure they'd also say it 'met standards' and was fine. I guess I'll have to fix this, too.
6) Several of the lights, after being on for a bit, 'flicker'. This is extremely odd because they're DC lights, and while one might expect the typical 60Hz flicker from a cheap LED AC light, a DC light should have no flickering. It's definitely that the light is getting hot and has a bad solder joint or something. Yet another thing that, while on it's own isn't a huge deal for me to fix, it's not on it's own. I'll have to replace a number of these light fixtures I guess, too. -_-
7) Upon crawling under the trailer, the underbelly that is supposedly 'enclosed' is hardly that. It's got so many gaps and holes that I'm genuinely worried about what will have nested in there by the time I get around to fixing it. Good thing we have so many cats around, I guess. Would some spray-foam have killed Jayco?
Now, we're not even done with the BS.
Somehow, over the next few weeks, we've gotten (both my partner and I) about a dozen credit pulls from random lenders. Like, holy crap. And of course, because they're not all at the same time and nor are they even from the same 'type' of lenders, our scores have dropped like a rock.
I don't know who over there at Great American RV Superstores is pushing some button, but this needs to stop... we're at the point where we are considering freezing our credit, because this is insane. Credit pulls from AFTER we picked up the RV? Excuse me? Why? This is borderline identity fraud.
Overall, the sales experience was fine, but everything else was bad. Logistics, financing, paperwork, service... they all dropped the ball.
I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone buy from this dealership chain, nor can I recommend at this point anyone buy a Jayco travel trailer-- apparently their build quality (like seemingly everything from everyone these days) has taken a nosedive since the 80's.
Oh, and the $200 gift card they promised us for wasting our time? No where to be found. -_- We asked about it, they dismissed it saying they would contact us when they 'got approval from management'; in other words, they just promised us something they weren't authorized to give us.

This has been for sale near me for about two months and the price has been dropped from the original of $29,500
It’s got 198k but looks clean in pics (current owner is a mobile detailer)
The price seems like a heck of a deal, if I’m not missing something obvious. It ticks all the boxes except color, but that’s not a high priority. I’d prefer no sunroof but understand that’s super hard to find.
Assuming it’s as nice in person, and passes all the usual maintenance questions, what do y’all think?

2024.05.21 00:20 GoatmilkerNed How much is a pet steer worth?

This happened this morning. I wasn't there. I had hired an experienced woman to oversee the loading in rural Wisconsin. My goats and my pet steer were to be moved from my old farm to my new property.
Yesterday, the trucking supervisor went to the farm. He said the steer was too big to fit into the semi side door, and might not even fit through the back door. So I hired a gooseneck cattle trailer guy to haul the steer.
This is how the story was told to me. I have it from three people: both shippers, and my supervisor.
I had hired two livestock trucks. One has a semi (tractor and 50' stock trailer). The other has a one-ton truck and a 30' gooseneck trailer.
150 goats were loaded into the semi trailer.
One giant, 12 year old, pet steer was loaded into the 30' trailer. Steer was 6'6" tall and weighed 2500 pounds. A gentle giant. My buddy.
I had been told by the head shipper that the steer would not fit through the semi side door. The farm where they were loaded did not have a loading ramp, which meant the steer could not be loaded through the back door. The side door is relatively low. The back door is more than 4' off the ground. The side door is fine for goats and sheep and pigs and calves, but not large bovines.
After all the goats were loaded on the semi, and the steer was loaded in the 30' trailer, the two drivers decided that they would put the steer in the semi.
My steer was safely loaded in the gooseneck. He would have travelled just fine that way. I did not mind paying both drivers to move my animals.
My supervisor objected to putting the steer in the semi trailer, but the drivers insisted that they knew better, that the steer would fit through the semi's side door. She tried to get them to stop, but again, they said they knew better. They ignored her. They backed the gooseneck trailer up to the semi's side door and tried to push the steer through the door.
The steer got stuck.
Instead of letting the steer relax, and figure out his own way to back up, they decided to drive the semi backwards against the gooseneck to force the steer free.
The moment they moved the semi, they broke the steer's pelvis. Effectively killing the steer.
At this point, the steer is immobilized, and stuck, 3/4 of the way inside a semi.
The gooseneck driver pulled forward, leaving the steer's back legs hanging in the air. The steer collapsed onto his front legs. You can imagine his cries.
The two drivers used a loader-tractor and chains to yank the steer backwards out of the semi. With a broken pelvis, the steer could not stand.
This is when I got the first phone call that things had gone terribly wrong. My supervisor was crying.
I immediately called the sheriff and a local vet. The sheriff basically ignored me. The vet, who has been this steer's vet since 2012, went straight to the farm. There was no saving the steer, and the vet euthanized him while my supervisor cradled his head and told him that he was a good boy.
Now the shippers are both claiming it's not their fault.
I have no idea how to value my steer. He was my only steer. He was my buddy. My pet. Totally tame. At night, at the end of a long day, or the end of a good day, I liked to smoke a cigar and drink a beer and just hang out with my gentle giant.
Now he's dead.
Me? I want financial vengeance. Since the sheriff says it's civil, I have one question: how much was my pet steer worth?
Edit: I know how to calculate the local beef prices and multiply by how much he weighed. That's easy. But I wasn't taking him to slaughter. He wasn't for sale.
I was going to spend at least 3,000 to ship him from my old farm to my new property, 2,000 miles away. I already spent tons on shipping horses. It is $9,000 to ship the goats.
Also, terminology matters to farmers: a steer is a castrated bovine. A cow is an adult breeding female bovine. A bull is an intact adult make bovine.
This guy was a steer.
Steers like him, especially of his size and athletic ability, were called oxen.

Pitboss Vertical or Horizontal Smoker for me?
Hey guys,
I have been smoking for several years on my little table top Pitboss PB150 and its time to get something bigger for the backyard. I have retrofitted the unit with a Wifi controller, and I find the Pitboss app to be just fine....and I want to keep in brand to minimize app sprawl lol.
Lowes has decent sales on both the Pitboss Pro 850 horizontal type Grill, and Pitboss Pro 1077 vertical type smoker. Both have Wifi and are basically the same price. $450-500. A couple of notes around my use case/style:
  • I have a big 4 burner propane grill that I intend to keep using for day to day grilling of steaks, burgers, etc, so no need for agrill feature
  • I primarily smoke smaller quantities of chicken thighs and ribs (so relatively short smokes), and 850cu will be plenty big - I am coming from a table top!
  • I haven't dived into 12hr+ long smokes that would require the big 60lb hopper of the vertical smoker, though I would like to smoke a turkey for Thanksgiving 2024
  • I am interested in the space savings of the vertical smoker
Which would you purchase? I am leaning towards the "grill" style PB 850 Pro as its what I am used too, but am interested in the space savings of the vertical models. I just don't really understand the different use cases, pros/cons.
Thoughts? Thank you!

2024.05.20 22:58 Ultimate_LO3 Sued for As Is car sale

Location indiana Vehicle 1999 F150 280,000 miles Clean Title and BOS signed
Posted truck for sale on market place. Person came and looked it over and test drove so he liked it and paid $1400 for it.
He was informed the truck has a tune up with push rods, lifters, gaskets, spark plugs, and oil change.
I got called 2 hours later from him stating he was broke down and truck wouldn't start. He was 2 hours away from me and I could do nothing to help him. He stated the truck had no oil in it and motor was locked up. We ended the call as I was looking into something at the time and my call back to him said "No longer working number". Felt odd plus I couldn't do anything for this guy so I just blocked all contact with him.
He messaged me the next day calling me a POS and that he was coming after me, followed up with a lawsuit threat and was taking me to court over it.
This was a private sale person to person and as-is signed on the bill of sale with a witness signature. I might also add he is a known convict with his face covered in tattoos and he stated he had no license when he took the vehicle. He said he has a very good lawyer and would see me soon with a judge.
I've never had legal issues and a perfectly clean history and background so I'm just wondering what could likely happen?
