Is this real??? A couple of months ago my VSO told me I was going to be denied based on my DBQs
I made a post a few months back saying that my VSO had told me, based on my DBQs, that I would be denied for PTSD and migraines. That most likely I would only be approved for tinnutus. I was rated today for both PTSD and tinnitus. I am so happy to say the least. It’s been a struggle for the last 20+ years. No in service records for treatment. I filed 20 years after getting out using only buddy letters from friends and diagnoses from my private doctors. No nexus letters.
My next battle, after I come down from this excitement, is to connect migraines. I was denied for tension headaches (filed as migraines). Luckily I found out that my provider helps with nexus letters. For those wondering, my provider is Kaiser.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me and I will do my best to answer them all.

2024.05.21 23:11 LAmamba21 Denied in 26 days

I just got my supplemental claim denied for TBI. My VSO annotated to look in my VA healthcare records where it clearly says I was diagnosed with a TBI and im getting treated for it. However it doesnt say service connected. BUT I was diagnosed. That kinda seems sketchy. It got denied in less then 1 month. The letter had some typos as well. I filed April 11 and denied May 6.

2024.05.21 23:11 Repulsive-Ad3086 Lost my drivers license and it cannot be replaced online.

When I try it says “Your Rhode Island driver's license record indicates your license is on Temporary status. Federal regulations require driver's licenses with temporary status to be processed in person. Please visit any RI DMV branch to process this transaction”, but my license is not temporary and it is real ID.
Coincidentally I received a notice from RIBTA about violation which I called the customer service, paid and the “hold” has been lifted. When I told the agent about my being unable to request replacement online, she asked me if I make frequent trip to Massachusetts, which I said not frequently but sometimes. She said sometimes violation in other states can deter people from renewing licenses.
Has anyone experienced this?? I’m going to make an appointment with DMV but frustrated that I cannot request replacement online.

2024.05.21 23:01 mtngoat7 Ok got denied!

I just received my decision letter after an ACE review (post in person C&P) for a migraine claim filed as PACT ACT presumptive which I now realize was wrong…decision pasted below. My migraines started when I was deployed to a TERA and I’m on the burn pit registry but I never was seen for them in service.
Since I am already service connected for tinnitus, so wondering if I should refile for migraine as secondary to tinnitus or appeal this one? —————/
Service connection for migraines.
To support a claim for service connection on a direct basis, the evidence must show three things.
First, it must show that you had an injury in military service, or a disease that began in or was made worse during military service, or there was an event in service that caused an injury or disease. Second, it must show that you have a current physical or mental disability, demonstrated by medical evidence. Finally, it must show that there is a relationship between your current disability and an injury, disease or event in military service. Medical records or medical opinions are required to establish this relationship. (38 CFR 3.303, 38 CFR 3.304, 38 CFR 3.400)
The evidence does not show that your disease developed to a compensable degree within the specified time period after release from service to qualify for the presumption of service connection. (38 CFR 3.307, 38 CFR 3.309)
The claimed condition is less likely than not (likelihood is less than approximately balanced or
nearly equal) incurred in or caused by the claimed in-service injury, event, or illness. Rationale is
reviewing the veteran service records, any additional information provided. The veteran service
records indicate the veteran was diagnosed with migraine headache conditions around 2004. The
veteran was discharged from active duty XXXXXX 1993. There has been no chronicity established
while in service for any headache condition.
Service connection may be granted for a condition diagnosed after military discharge provided
evidence establishes that the condition was caused by service. Service connection may be
granted on this basis for a disability related to toxic exposure risk activity (TERA) during
military service if evidence demonstrates that the Veteran was actually exposed in service and
that a disease associated with such exposure resulted. (38 CFR 3.303, 38 CFR 3.304)
We considered whether your condition resulted from a toxic exposure risk activity (TERA) in
service. (38 U.S.C. 1168, 38 U.S.C. 1710(e)(4)) The evidence of record shows participation in a
TERA
We requested an examination with medical opinion based on toxic exposure risk activity
(TERA). Your VA examiner notes that medical records from the veteran's primary care notes on
10/2004 endorse the veteran's diagnosis of migraine headaches. According to Mayo Clinic
(2023), the exact cause of migraines are unknown and there are a wide variety of contributing
factors that increase the risk of migraines including various environmental and genetic factors.
These include inadequate sleep, dietary factors, caffeine, alcohol consumption, changes in
barometric pressure, hormonal factors, and stress. Medical literature does not support a direct
causal relationship between migraine headaches and toxic exposure risk activities, including
exposure to burn pits, airborne hazards, or environmental toxins. Considering the evidence,
the veteran's diagnosis of migraines is less likely than not caused by indicated toxic exposure risk
activities in service.
Although the evidence of record shows participation in a TERA, the medical opinion provided
by the examiner does not show an association between your claimed disability and in-service
TERA. (38 U.S.C. 1168, 38 CFR 3.303)
There is no basis in the available evidence of record to establish service connection for
migraines. This condition did not happen in military service, nor was it aggravated or caused by
service. (38 CFR 3.303, 38 CFR 3.304, 38 CFR 3.306)
Favorable Findings identified in this decision:
You have been diagnosed with a disability. VA exam dated xx/xx/2024 shows a diagnosis of
migraine headaches.
Participation in a toxic exposure risk activity is conceded based completion of VA TERA Memo
dated 2/29/2024.
The claimed disability is a chronic disease which may be presumptively linked to your military
service if manifested to a compensable degree within one year of discharge as listed in 38 CFR
3.309 (a).
You have sufficient service to meet the minimum requirements for presumptive service
connection. Your DD 214 shows military service from xxxxxx to xxxxxx.
Your claimed issue became manifest to a degree of 10 percent or more following service.

2024.05.21 22:55 Reasonable-Radish-17 What course of action should I take?

State is New Mexico.
I bought a Dell laptop a few years ago. I bought their top-of-the-line warranty for it. The laptop failed and needed to be replaced under warranty. I told Dell customer service that I was going out of the country for 3 months in a couple of days and that they needed to ship the replacement to a different address if it was shipped later than that date. I hadn't received a replacement before my trip so I assumed that they would ship it to my son's house 300 miles away.
3 days after I left on my trip, I received an email notification that my laptop was delivered to my home the day before. I hadn't received notification that it was being shipped. I called a neighbor and they went to the house. It wasn't there. I had my son drive the 300 miles that weekend to see if they could find the laptop - nope.
When I was talking to Dell about the laptop being shipped after I told them not to ship it to that address after a certain date, they told me to file a police report and they would send me a replacement. I did so and provided the information to Dell about the "porch piracy" event. They sent my replacement laptop to me after that.
The other day, I had the replacement laptop fail. When I contacted Dell about it, they said that they would do nothing for me because I still had the other system. I told them about the theft of the system, provided them the information I had about the police report and even copied/pasted the email chain I had with Dell about what happened and that they would put it on my records.
After I provided that information, I was told by Dell that they will not replace my dead laptop even though I had provided them the information about the theft. When I spoke to a supervisor, they said the same thing. When I spoke to that person's supervisor, I got the same thing. They do not care that I paid for a 4 year extended warranty for the new computer nor provided the information about the theft over a year ago.
What can I do? I have done the "executive email carpet bomb" without response (mass email executives at the company asking for help). I am without a working laptop that is under warranty. I paid over $5k for my laptop and an additional amount for the extended warranty. If I sue them, I can sue them for up to $10k in small claims court in NM. Would I sue for the $5k plus the cost of the warranty? Would I sue for the cost of a replacement system with the warranty? Next, if I got a judgement, how would I go about collecting on it from Dell?
I hope that it doesn't come to my having to sue Dell but I am getting to whit's end.

MAY 21, 2024 KTN.V DRILLING DRAMATICALLY INCREASES STRIKE LENGTH OF D-VEIN WITH HIGHS TO 920 GPT SILVER AND 4.1% LEAD-ZINC AT COLUMBA HIGH-GRADE SILVER PROJECT

VANCOUVER, BC , May 21, 2024 /CNW/ - Kootenay Silver Inc. (TSXV: KTN) (the "Company" or "Kootenay") is very pleased to announce results from the first six drill holes targeting the eastern extension of the D-Vein target.
https://preview.redd.it/lf2ss3ppdu1d1.jpg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e6024d359a46a8208e9f04c67130c120e2d0828
Four of the first six holes (CDH-24-148 to 151) were deliberately drilled at shallow levels to establish dip orientation of the vein before testing the deeper productive zone. Outcrop exposure is limited in the drilling area and initial holes drilled for structure followed by holes CDH-24-152 and 153 that drilled for grade at a significant 200 meter step out from previous intercepts at a comparable depth.
Holes CDH-24-152 and 153 targeted D-Vein at or below the important elevation of 1750 meters above sea level below which, as a rule of thumb at Columba Project, high silver grades are encountered. These two holes are on the same fence and are both very large step outs of 200 meters from the nearest intercept below 1750m elevation (CDH-23-147). and both intercepted mineralization in the D-vein. The two holes are 150 meters apart in the dip direction.
Holes CDH-24-152 to 153 increase the previously established 450 meter strike length to 650 meters between holes CDH-23-136 to 137 and CDH-24-152 to 153.
Highlights
CDH-24-153
  • 435 gpt silver over 11 meters drilled width/3.52 meters estimated true width within 183 gpt silver over 40 meters drilled width/12.96 meters estimated true width
  • 920 gpt silver assay high over 1.35 meters drilled width/0.43 meters est. true width
  • Very large lateral step out along strike from nearest holes at similar elevation around 1600 to 1675m
  • ~325 meters from CDH-23-145 (22 meters/15.4 meters est. true width of 174 gpt silver with 6 meters/4.2 meters est. true width of 435 gpt silver and 1 meter of 814 gpt silver ) 1
  • ~375 meters from CDH-22-128 (20 meters/13.6 meters est. true width of 136 gpt silver with 2 meters of 520 gpt silver) 2
CDH-24-152
  • Large step out along strike of previous drilling.
  • Tests the upper edge of high grade zone near 1775 meter above seal level
  • ~ 200 meters along strike of CDH-23-147 ( 532 gpt silver over 8 meters drilled/4.96 meters est. true width within 219 gpt silver over 28 meters) 3
  • ~ 150 meters up dip of CDH-24-153
  • 347 gpt silver over 5.6 meters drilled/3.36 meters est. true width within 240 gpt silver over 9.0 meters drilled /5.4 meters est. true width.
  • 492 gpt silver over 2.65 meters drilled/1.59 meters est. true width.
The current drilling program is designed to find the strike extent of D-Vein mineralization in preparation of infill drilling and a now fully funded follow up program of 20,000 meters, aimed to delineate a maiden resource expected in late 2024. In addition to the D-Vein, the Company maintains a priority list of new vein targets and known vein extensions all warranting drill testing.
Kootenay's President & CEO, James McDonald states, "We increased the magnitude of step outs on the D-Vein with 100 to 300 meter step outs to great success on the first few holes. These large step outs along strike and down dip are rapidly building volume of mineralized vein. We are very excited to continue stepping out and are preparing to add a drill rig to test high priority targets while one will remain dedicated to step out then infill drilling of D-Vein."
Drill highlights, maps and sections from the project are tabulated on the Company's website at the links below

As previously mentioned, results discussed herein represent the first series of holes designed as aggressive step outs along the D-Vein structure in a region where the structure is not visible at surface. Holes CDH-24-148 to CDH-24-151 successfully intersected the target at shallow depths, above the projected upper horizon of strong mineralization. These holes will provide invaluable information for subsequent drilling targeting high grade mineralization. Holes CDH-24-152 and CDH-24-153 intersected the D Vein at a deeper levels and silver grades returned were correspondingly higher.
The company has completed over 30,000 meters of diamond drilling in 153 holes at Columba since 2019 and intercepted numerous veins with high silver grades and widths indicating excellent resource potential. Prospective veins on the project are hosted within a volcanic caldera setting, the surface extent of mapped veins measuring roughly 4 kilometres by 3 kilometres. Management believes that Columba may be a newly recognized vein district that is nearly entirely preserved from erosion.
A comprehensive list of drill results completed on the Columba Property since 2019 may be viewed here: Columba Drill Results
Sampling and QA/QC at Columba
All technical information for the Columba exploration program is obtained and reported under a formal quality assurance and quality control ("QA/QC") program. Samples are taken from core cut in half with a diamond saw under the direction of qualified geologists and engineers. Samples are then labeled, placed in plastic bags, sealed and with interval and sample numbers recorded. Samples are delivered by the Company to ALS Minerals ("ALS") in Chihuahua. The Company inserts blanks, standards and duplicates at regular intervals as follows. On average a blank is inserted every 100 samples beginning at the start of sampling and again when leaving the mineral zone. Standards are inserted when entering the potential mineralized zone and in the middle of them, on average one in every 25 samples is a standard. Duplicates are taken in the mineralized intervals at an average 2 duplicates for each hole.
The samples are dried, crushed and pulverized with the pulps being sent airfreight for analysis by ALS in Vancouver, B.C. Systematic assaying of standards, blanks and duplicates is performed for precision and accuracy. Analysis for silver, zinc, lead and copper and related trace elements was done by ICP four acid digestion, with gold analysis by 30-gram fire assay with an AA finish. All drilling reported is HQ core and was completed by Globextools, S.A. de C.V. of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico

2024.05.21 22:32 Careless_Interview64 Applecare + is screwing me over and I am not sure what to do

I am just going to copy and paste the email that I sent over to the insurance company AIG because it gives a overview of the situation.
Hello,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I have received from AIG regarding my ongoing claim. It has been nearly two months since I initiated this claim, and I am frustrated by the lack of resolution and the repeated miscommunication I have encountered between your customer service team and Apple's support.
My claim was denied because, according to your records, the "Find My iPhone" feature was turned off on June 19th, 2023. However, my phone was purchased on October 22nd, 2023 and coverage subsequently on August 4th, 2024, making this assertion logically impossible. I have received confirmation from Apple several times that "Find My iPhone" has been enabled since the purchase date, and they have conveyed this information to your customer service team multiple times. Despite this, I have been told that I must provide additional proof from Apple, which Apple is unable to supply.
I even had an Apple representative speak directly with one of your customer service agents to confirm that Apple cannot provide a document proving that "Find My iPhone" is enabled, yet this did not resolve the issue. I find this level of disorganization and lack of support completely unacceptable.
I urge you to take immediate action to resolve this claim. I have provided all the evidence required to prove that my phone's "Find My iPhone" feature was enabled up until it was stolen. If I do not receive a satisfactory response promptly, I will have no choice but to consider legal action or escalate this matter to the California Department of Insurance.
Furthermore, I am requesting a phone number for a claims adjuster to address any additional concerns that may arise. I believe this is a fair and reasonable request given the circumstances.
Please treat this matter with the urgency it deserves and provide me with a clear path to resolving my claim. I look forward to your prompt response.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
They pretty much told me to fuck off. The only email I have received back from the claims department was just a screenshot from apple telling them the same information. Ive been ripping my hair out for three fucking months now they take a minimum of 4 days to reply via email and keep giving me the same information. The call center I am assuming is offshore and they are no help. They keep telling me that only the claims department can help but of course they have no phone number. I'm running out of options here I have no clue what to do I still owe 1k on this stupid phone and really don't feel like shelling out another one especially after paying for this useless fucking service that should have covered me. I literally sent them all the evidence that the last time my phone pinged its location was the date but still nothing it is driving me insane. Is this something I would be able to take to small claims court? I'm not sure its worth the trouble but its so hard to just walk away knowing that I am 100% right and it must just be a glitch in they're system but either someone is too lazy to deal with it or they just don't give a shit. I have never dealt with legal stuff before but small claims seems pretty straightforward. Not sure if anyone has any experience or knowledge about this kind of thing but anything helps!!!

Introduction to Cost-Effective Junk Removal

When it comes to managing junk removal in a cost-effective manner, individuals are often seeking affordable solutions to alleviate the financial burden associated with waste disposal. It is crucial to explore options that not only fit within one's budget but also contribute to maintaining clean and sustainable living spaces. The rise of DIY and budget-friendly junk removal methods reflects a growing trend towards practical and economical waste management strategies.
For example, imagine a scenario where a homeowner in California needs to dispose of old furniture without spending excessively. By delving into various cost-effective junk removal options, such as recycling, donation, or leveraging local pickup services, individuals can efficiently declutter their space while minimizing expenses. This sets the stage for understanding how cost-effective approaches to junk removal can benefit both individuals and the environment.
Cost-effective junk removal options are not only about saving money but also about making a positive impact on the environment. By choosing sustainable methods of waste disposal, individuals can contribute to reducing landfill waste and promoting a cleaner ecosystem. The shift towards affordable and eco-friendly junk removal practices signifies a broader movement towards responsible waste management in today's society. By incorporating sustainability into cost-effective solutions, individuals can achieve a harmonious balance between financial savings and environmental consciousness.

Understanding the Costs of Junk Removal Services

Local junk removal companies play a significant role in offering upfront pricing and estimates to customers, providing insights into the potential costs involved in waste removal. Additionally, some providers may incentivize cost savings by offering discounts for regular or bulk pickups, making their services more appealing to budget-conscious individuals. The variability in pricing structures for junk removal services emphasizes the importance of comparing quotes and services to identify the most cost-effective option that aligns with one's specific needs.
To illustrate, consider a situation where a homeowner needs to clear out a garage filled with bulky items. By obtaining estimates from different junk removal services and understanding the factors that influence pricing, such as the type and volume of items to be removed, individuals can make informed decisions that prioritize both affordability and quality of service. This proactive approach empowers customers to navigate the junk removal process with financial prudence in mind.
DIY junk removal not only offers cost-effective solutions but also empowers individuals to take control of their waste management efforts. By utilizing reusable packaging materials and implementing proper planning strategies, individuals can streamline the junk removal process, saving both time and money. Online tutorials and guides serve as valuable resources, providing step-by-step instructions for safe and efficient DIY junk removal methods that can be easily implemented by homeowners looking to reduce expenses.

DIY Junk Removal: A Cost-Effective Approach

Engaging in do-it-yourself junk removal presents numerous benefits beyond just cost savings. In addition to reducing expenses, DIY methods allow individuals to customize their waste disposal process according to their preferences and schedules. By incorporating innovative techniques and creative solutions, homeowners can transform junk removal into a rewarding and fulfilling experience that aligns with their unique needs and priorities.
For instance, imagine a homeowner who decides to repurpose old furniture instead of discarding it during a DIY junk removal project. By refurbishing and upcycling items, they not only save on disposal costs but also contribute to reducing waste and promoting sustainability. This hands-on approach to junk removal not only fosters a sense of accomplishment but also instills a deeper appreciation for the value of reusing and repurposing items in a resource-conscious manner.

Leveraging Local Bulk Pickup Services

Local municipalities often provide bulk pickup services as a cost-effective solution for residents looking to dispose of large items. These services, which are typically offered at little to no additional cost, enable individuals to declutter their spaces without incurring significant expenses. By taking advantage of these community-based initiatives, homeowners can access a convenient and budget-friendly option for junk removal.
Collaborating with neighbors or community groups for joint bulk pickups can further enhance the cost-effectiveness of this approach. By coordinating efforts and sharing resources, individuals can collectively reduce the overall expenses associated with waste disposal while fostering a sense of community engagement and collaboration. This cooperative approach not only benefits participants financially but also promotes a spirit of camaraderie and mutual support in managing junk removal tasks.

Recycling and Donation: Save Money and the Environment

The practice of donating and recycling items offers a dual benefit of cost savings and environmental conservation. By donating gently used items to charitable organizations or recycling centers, individuals can contribute to charitable causes and reduce the amount of waste destined for landfills. The cost-effectiveness of this approach lies in the potential for tax deductions, free pickup services, and the satisfaction of knowing that items are being repurposed or recycled for a greater purpose.
Moreover, recycling centers play a crucial role in incentivizing recycling efforts by offering financial incentives for certain types of recyclable materials. Individuals can capitalize on these incentives by segregating and disposing of recyclable items responsibly, thereby reducing their overall junk removal expenses. The financial rewards associated with recycling not only offset disposal costs but also encourage individuals to adopt sustainable practices that benefit both their wallets and the environment.

Comparison of Professional Junk Removal Services

Professional junk removal services offer a range of benefits that extend beyond mere waste disposal. By opting for professional services, individuals can access comprehensive solutions that include junk removal, cleaning, and post-removal tidying up. These bundled services not only save time and effort for customers but also ensure a thorough and efficient junk removal process that meets high standards of cleanliness and organization.
For example, consider a scenario where a homeowner hires a professional junk removal service that partners with recycling facilities. By leveraging these partnerships, the service provider can minimize disposal costs by diverting a significant portion of collected items for recycling. This eco-friendly approach not only reduces environmental impact but also contributes to sustainable waste management practices that benefit both customers and the community at large. By choosing professional services with a focus on recycling and sustainability, individuals can align their junk removal efforts with broader environmental goals.

Special Offers and Deals on Junk Removal

In addition to standard services, junk removal companies often provide special offers and deals that can further enhance cost-effectiveness. Referral discounts, seasonal promotions, and loyalty programs are common incentives offered by these companies to attract and retain customers. By taking advantage of these cost-saving opportunities, individuals can optimize their junk removal experience and enjoy additional benefits beyond the basic service offerings.
To illustrate, imagine a scenario where a homeowner receives a referral discount for recommending a junk removal service to a friend. By leveraging this discount, both the existing customer and the referred individual benefit from reduced rates, creating a win-win situation for all parties involved. Seasonal promotions, such as spring cleaning specials, offer another avenue for customers to save on junk removal costs while decluttering their spaces efficiently. By staying informed about these special offers and deals, individuals can make informed decisions that maximize savings and value for their junk removal needs.

How Technology is Changing Junk Removal

By harnessing waste as a resource for energy production, companies can not only reduce the volume of junk in landfills but also contribute to the development of renewable energy sources that benefit local communities.
Collaborative efforts between junk removal companies and municipalities are instrumental in driving sustainable waste management practices. 2024.05.21 22:08 anonty973 What to do? File new claims or appeal now file later?

I filed 5 claims previously, everyone of which got denied, rightfully so, there was no evidence aside from hearing tests that I failed during enlistment, and DOCS word. I filed for Muscle spasms, headaches, hearing loss + tinnitus, and a skin condition.
I have been dealing with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse since I’ve gotten out. So much so that my entire apartment was piss bottles, fast food bags, and important paperwork. I threw out 99% of all paperwork related to the marine corps, luckily I had a digital copy of my DD214 from a job app, and DOC has personally sent my med records to my moms address which saved those. The problem is I was dealing with this in the marine corps, and had gotten arrested during a RAM inspection at the gate @ 20, got into some trouble in Japan, and was in outpatient at or before 21, and let me fucking tell u I wish alcohol was never invented. I ended up popping on a piss test and my DD214 literally says drug abuse, but outside of that I have 0 evidence. I also complained about lower back problems, breathing problems, lost my front tooth, and I had a recurring dislocated, that dislocated multiple times in service as well as out. Not sure if I should appeal or file new claims first

2024.05.21 22:05 The99thAirborne Waypoint changelog

Good afternoon everyone,
Has anyone here made a change log to track the changes made in a waypoint feature layer over time? I have looked into a feature class webhook to make.com flow that populates an Excel sheet to have a record of all changes, but so far, that has not been very reliable, and I haven't figured out how to parse it out when several edits are made under the 30-second webhook send interval. Points cannot be deleted so no worries there. The data is being edited in a Webapp Builder, field maps, and experience builder so I think it has to be something tied to the service itself. Any suggestions? Thanks!

2024.05.21 22:02 MisterCritique Mall Vacation Giveaway

A few months ago, I entered a giveaway at my local mall for a Bahamas Vacation for 2. On the slip I filled out my name and phone number. The slip stated explicitly at the top: "NOT A TIME SHARE- Names will NOT be sold." At the bottom of the slip it states: "By filling out this entry card you are accepting: You may be contacted, and considered a "Winner". All winners will receive a "Free 4 day 3 Night Vacation in the Bahamas:, winners will still be responsible for all normal travel expenses, including transportation resort/service fees and taxes." At the very bottom it reads "LICENSED AND BONDED FLA, SELLER OF TRAVEL REG. NO. ST37536" This was a month or 2 I filled it out, today they sent me a text message stating that they are with WattersonTravel. com, in the message they included a photo of my original slip and a congratulations, along with the mall I filled it out at. I replied stating that it was me, they messaged me back saying that I won the "FREE 5 day 4 night" trip to the Bahamas, although it stated on the slip is was 4 day 3 nights. They also included a number to their office that I would have to call to registebook, which I have 4 days to do. Upon calling the number I am met with a prerecorded message with all the details about the trip. There are 3 hotels in which I can choose from, along with a 1-night pass on a cruise ship to the Bahamas leaving from Florida, there and back I believe, along with an extra night at whatever hotel/resort I chose. After the very long drawn out recording explaining all the hotels and details I am connected with an agent who will set up an account for me on their site ( WattersonTravel. com ), and informed me that I will have to pay a 18 or 19 dollar booking fee per person beforehand and then my account would be created and activated so I can book, They then immediately asked how I would like to pay for that, master card visa etc. I told them I would like to do this tomorrow and the man didnt sound to happy about it, but was still polite. Is this a scam? Does anyone have experience with this, should I go for it or stray away??

2024.05.21 22:01 ObjectiveKeyboards With which offering should I go?

I want to rent a server to setup Proxmox on that machine. I'd like to setup my main workstation there (instead of buying a new laptop - latency to Hetzner is very good < 20ms) for software development, answering emails and browsing the internet as well as screen recording from time to time. Other than that there will be running some (but not many) VM's for services such as Mailcow.
I'd like to decide between the following offerings at Hetzner:
Which one would you choose (and why) for hosting your primary workstation as well as some VM's? I've a Google One subscription with 2 TB storage included as well which can be mounted to my workstation's VM for saving files which aren't accessed frequently or need to be performant.

2024.05.21 21:54 happybiscotti7834 Leaving a good job (and bad manager) for more money somewhere else?

I am having a huge dilemma, but it also seems like a no-brainer so I’d like some advice!
I have worked at a TINY (think 3-4 employees) law firm for about 11 months. I have previously worked in reception roles, but this is my first legal job and I really like it and I hope to go to law school one day. Since we are so small, I act as a receptionist, medical records clerk, admin assistant, etc. doing the work of at least two people and have learned so much more than I would’ve been able to at a large firm, especially getting paid $19 an hour (compared to $13-$15 for legal receptionists in the area)
Since starting there, I have known that I would leave and relocate to another state in September 2024. I have been saving up as much money as possible, but my job only offers 35 hours a week and no overtime. I like my work, and my work life balance is good, but i’m not saving as much as I’d like to be.
My manager is also extremely emotionally turbulent and snappy, which makes me very anxious day to day because I’m not sure how she will be emotionally. I’ve been reprimanded multiple times over things that were more of a group/organization failure than a personal one, and have been made to cry more than once out of frustration. She and our boss have a complicated relationship and without saying too much, I constantly feel like i’m reliving my parents divorce when I hear them whispering or arguing in their offices.
I was complaining to a family member about my boss’ behavior and just being exhausted from the drama at work and she said she would give me a job for the summer paying $20 an hour and offering overtime at her personal business. The schedule is flexible and is in reception, and she said working just a few months would be fine.
I feel like I should jump at this opportunity but it isn’t in my career field and is much more customer service heavy work vs sitting at my desk and listening to music while I file things. But it would potentially make me $800-$2000 more I could put towards moving.
Would I be dumb to not take this opportunity to make more money and escape a shitty manager? Would it look bad on my resume?
Is it shitty to leave before my one year mark just to work somewhere for a few months, even if I hate this workplace now?
please help!

2024.05.21 21:50 Heavy-District4321 BC Criminal Record Check

Hello everyone,
Before starting my job, my boss requires me to complete a criminal record check, which requires a BC service card.
When I went to ICBC today, they told me I could not make it because I don't have a PR. Instead, they told me to make an MSP card, which I must reapply for.
Would it be possible for me to do a BC criminal record check with my MSP?
Will I have a BC Service account once I apply for MSP?

Post office Ms. F: what are you calling for?
Me: Hello, I am returning a phone call. I have a service request.
Post office Ms. F: Hold on (cut me off, put me on hold to listen to the recorded commercials of USPS' world class service with music )
(Commercials continued for 10 minutes. During this time, my daughter dragged me to see her drawing.)
Second time:
(10 minutes later...)
Post office Ms. F: Mam, what is your service number?
Me: (in another room) uh, let me find it...
Post office Ms. F: hold on (cut me off , put me on hold to listen to the recorded commercials of USPS' world class service with music )
Third time:
(A decade later...)
Post office Ms. F: Mam, do you have your service number?
Me: yes!
Post office Ms. F: ........ (long silence, then cut me off , put me on hold with me listening the recorded commercials of USPS' world class service with music )
Fourth time:
(Another decade later...)
Post office Ms. F: I am ready for your service number.
Me: xxx
Post office Ms. F: what did you say?
Me: xxx
Post office Ms. F: what did you say again?
Me: xxx, xxxx
Post office Ms. hold on, this is not your tracking number.
Me:Yes, I am reporting you the service number.
Post office Ms. F: ok, service number. Repeat it please.
Me: xxx
Post office Ms. what did you say?
Me: xxx
Post office Ms. F: what did you say again?
Me: xxx, xxxx
Post office Ms. F: this service number doesn't exist... oh, the case is closed.
Me: (Explained why I called, which was to return a missed phone call from this post office, and to find out whether there was some information I missed. During my explanation, I was asked to repeat multiple times for every single time I talked, because M.s F claimed that she couldn't understand me. )
Self disclaimer: I am not a native speaker. However, I've lived in the U.S. for 20 years. I pursued and received my Ph.D. at one of the top U.S. universities. I have been working at U.S. since I graduated from there. My English speaking U.S. colleagues and random people I talk on the street or over the phone have never had problems understanding me. Of course, there is accent when I talk, but I highly doubt that "Ms.F" from that post office really had the problem understanding me. Or, instead she is just having a very hard time to interact with customers in general.

2024.05.21 21:31 No_Initiative8612 How to Delegate Meeting Notes to AI

If you’re tired of manually taking meeting notes and trying to keep up with all the details, it might be time to consider delegating this task to AI. Here's how you can do it effectively:
  1. Choose the Right Tool: Look for a transcription service that fits your needs. One tool I recommend is Vomo.ai. It’s designed to handle audio transcription accurately and efficiently.
  2. Record Your Meetings: Whether you’re using Zoom, Google Meet, or any other platform, make sure to record your meetings. With Vomo, you can directly upload these recordings for transcription.
  3. Automate Transcription: Vomo uses advanced models like nova-2 and Whisper to ensure high accuracy in transcription. There’s no limit on transcription time or quantity, which is great for lengthy meetings.
  4. AI Analysis: Beyond just transcribing, Vomo leverages GPT-4o to provide AI analysis. This means you get concise summaries and action items extracted from your transcriptions, saving you even more time.
  5. Share and Collaborate: Once your meeting is transcribed and summarized, you can easily share the notes and action items with your team. Vomo allows you to generate note links, making it simple to distribute the information.
  6. Affordable and Accessible: One of the best parts about Vomo is that it offers a 7-day free trial, and the subscription is about $10 per month, making it a very affordable option.
By using AI to handle meeting notes, you can focus more on participating in the meeting rather than worrying about capturing every detail. Give it a try and see how much more efficient your workflow can become!
