Hey :) I'm Sport and I'm 21! I go by Eastern Standard Time. So, for this RP post, It's gonna be my first Sonic RP if I remember correctly. This is in honor of the new CYOA for it that's been posted and it pretty much being the first REAL sonic CYOA. So, the way it'll work is I (or you, if you want me to narrate) make a build and we roleplay out the results. I don't *quite* have premade plots, since with this one I feel I should at least make it more open. I do have a few story rules just for simplicity.
One: Because my knowledge of Sonic outside the games is pretty shit besides the movies and OVA, we will be staying with the Games eras (At least if I narrate)
Two: I'm not the best with playing canon characters, so please understand if my dialogue is a bit awkward.

i love swimming and i have loved swimming since i was a kid. i have been considering taking up swimming for fitness because i need to get in shape and lose some weight. but this fear has made it kind of impossible to concretely say "yes, sign me up for the pool membership!" because i found out you can get sb*s from pools. im constantly see-sawing between "swimming will help me feel better in my body because i love doing it, and it isnt like i drink pool water like a little baby" and "if i swallow a drop of contaminated pool water i will get sick even if i dont dive or jump or put my head into the water."
any advice on finally taking the plunge and not letting my fear get the better of me?

hi guys i am an 18yo from algeria and one day my family decided to go to qatar so that we all can work .
i was happy because i got to visit another country and meet people from different nationalities and stuff.
8 months passed it was a hell for me they were putting blame on me for not finding a job they expected their kid that they never allowed to even go out or have friends nor let him practice a sport to be able to have confidence to find a job that pays well. what made me irritated the most that they did absolutely nothing to my older brother who is clearly have more experience and my older brother himself was sometimes start a fight with my parent to the point where he threaten by holding a knife .
anyways two weeks ago i put some effort and could land a job a very good one actually in a tourism agency and i thought my nightmare stopped .well nope ,my parents asked me to teach my older brother how to do what i am doing in my job ,the problem is my brother doesnt even know how to use microsoft word or even how to save a photo from google to his desktop it will take me a year to teach him everything i do but they want me to teach him in summer in my free time which is maximum of 2 hours a day i work from 12pm to 9pm . i told them that the internet would be a better option for him to learn there is millions of tutorials on youtube and udemy etc but my words were like blasphemy.
i am planning to move out and rent a studio/1 room apartment and send them money every month all of it except the money that i will use for my self development.
is my decision to leave them because of this selfish?

Sorry for the formatting, im on mobile(just a heads up, this is a very long post) Also, this is my first reddit post so im sorry if this is the wrong sub, i just need to speak my mind. When I was 13, right around when covid happened, I frequented tumblr a lot. It was my main mode of using social media, and through it I posted a lot of art, reblogged stuff about fandoms I was in at the time, the works. A couple months into me using it(near february of 2020), this one person followed me and reblogged a lot of my art and always put such nice things in the tags, it made me so giddy! It was like having a fan kind of. In return I did the same thing; this other person did art semi frequently and we shared a Fandom that we both interacted with a lot. A couple months later, I end up making a tumblr group chat, back when those still existed, and this person joined it. For the next few months, we talked daily using this group chat; talking about school and the sorts. I found out through these conversations that he lived quite a few states away(we both live in the United States), and that he was also in the same grade as me(we were both going into our freshman years and starting high school). Eventually, I remember because in those stupid group chats, you weren't able to send images through them and I was complaining about not being able to send him something. To that he suggested sending it through DMs, which I did. This is what started a period of nearly four years of talking to each other, every single day. If we didn't talk, it was because of something we couldn't control; whether it be travel or it be some other thing; we were just that inseparable. I never learned his real name over those four years; I never learned where he lived or where he went to school or anything, I only knew we were the same age and his nickname was Will. Do I know if Will was short for anything? I don't know, but I wish I did. We went through so much together; I was there for him when he had familial issues with his mom and dad(stuff that's so bad I would never type it out), he was there for me when I was suicidal and depressed, he was one of a kind. I felt like at the end of the day, I could go to him and talk to him about anything I so wished, and he'd at least listen. When I was around that age, I constantly struggled with being called a "therapist friend", and being used by those at the time as someone to just rant to and that was really it. But with Will, it was so much more. He was my rock, and I was his. Months before things just came to a halt, he started growing distant. Always the excuse that he was busy, but I could see he was online, just ignoring me. It was becoming very hurtful to me; to have said something to just be ignored for hours on end and to recieve a dry reply in return. It was then that I began to realize he had been dry for a while, but that's just the way he talked, really. It was always an "ok", or a, "oof"(we talked in very lamence terms) or something among the lines. I remember on a couple occasions I would mention him coming to my home city one day and it would be replied to with an "oh" or "ok". It was then that I started to kind of realize that we were putting not equal efforts in our friendship anymore. Eventually I remember, it was February 2nd of 2024, it just became so real. The guy that had been there for me through the past four years of my life had just...seemed to stop caring. I remember, when I would go out of town and would have no cell service, I'd hate not being able to text him. He was my best friend in the entire world, he was kind of like my platonic soul mate. I remember making a game plan to try and get him to leave his home because I knew his home situation was bad; I remember thinking about how we could meet one day, and I'd finally get to see what he even looked like. But on that day in February, I broke. I told my mom, and she told me to just...stop texting him. So I kind of did. I told him that I wasn't going to use tumblr anymore and that I was going to delete it. We both had each other's discords, but I barley replied after the last few messages he sent. The last one he sent me was on March 1st, and I never replied to it. I had become so numb to him, it was painful to leave my best friend behind, but in my heart I knew it was the right desicison. I left because it felt like our friendship was going nowhere; after four years I didn't even know his name, I never even got his phone number. I gave him mine on two occasions, but...nothing. I remember we'd exchange stories that we were writing simultaneously, we'd exchange art of each other's favorite characters and ocs. I miss it. I miss him. I remember, writing a message that was nearly 2000 words long to him, but I never sent it. I was too scared, that the guilt would get the best of me. I ghosted my best friend of 4 years, and I fucking miss him. I wish he knew it, because I loved him so much. I wish we could have what we had back. I wish we could have had more; I wish we could have had one of those dramatic airport scenes where we find each other past all of the gates and stuff in the entrance of the airport and hug each other, being in the moment. But we never did, and never will. I miss you Will. If you somehow see this, I just want you to know that I'm sorry.

I have been with my boyfriend coming up on 6 months or so now. We haven't been in the relationship long but i do care about him greatly. I have problems from past trauma that i see someone for and i made sure to speak with him about on multiple different occasions as i never wanted him to feel blind sided with any of it. All couples have disagreements and at times it fully and truly is my own fault and i've been working hard asking him how i can improve during situations and talking over options with my therapist as well.
Recently there has been some stuff he has been doing that would bother me. He's dismissive if i say stuff bothers me. When i try to speak to him on it im just met with silence, and i dont mean like he wont text me back he will sit right there and just choose to not respond. And if i try to continue the conversation when he does this it will quickly turn to anger on his part. This happens on and off where he will get mad, i get upset and just want to fix things and will ask him 'what do i need to do' He gives me a list of changes/improvements i need to work on and i try my best.
This all went down a few hours ago, We have a mutual friend who we sometimes hang out and play games with and we are both busy with work and taking care of our families so time together can be limited. Lately we've been spending alot of time helping out our mutual friend who i will call Sally with various thing. I adore spending time with sally, she's super nice and so funny and just a joy to be around. I expressed to him that hay i would like for us to start doing some stuff one on one for a little bit, what ever he wanted to do i just wanted some us time cos we've spent the past week helping out sally. He looked at me and disagreed that he didnt think we were spending all that much time helping sally. I tried to calmly give a few examples of what i meant and explain my point of view but he kept dismissing them as 'thats not what happened, that isnt true' He ended up telling me that 'this all sounds like you just have some animosity towards sally and dont want her around' I started to get teary eyed at this point and explained that wasn't at all what i was saying i just wanted to do some stuff together for a little bit. When i started to get upset and teary eyed he just said he was sick of dealing with this 'Dumb shit over something so small' And just took off on me... Didnt say a word didnt say goodbye and just left.
This isnt the first time he's done this... where he'd just leave and i'd get upset. i've had exes in the past who've done this and would just never come back again and i panic. I would call, and text trying to say that i was sorry for upsetting him and he wont respond. Every time he's done this in the past he's come back a day or so later and give me a "dont do this again" sort of talk. For some reason it hurts so much more this time, i really tried hard to explain as well as i could without upsetting him what i was trying to get at. I dont even know if he will come back to speak to me, as he is again not answering his phone....What should i do in this situation? Almost done configuring my new T480. Finished getting Manjaro installed and all of my usual binds set up and I finished getting firmware upgrades installed. The only thing left is an issue where the laptop takes forever to wake up from sleep when I either suspend or close the lid.
I have absolutely no clue what's causing this. The device boots from cold faster than it wakes from sleep. Not only this I was going back to my t430 with an almost identical install and the t430 wakes from sleep almost the instant you open the lid?!?! so what the hell is going on?
The only differences between the two machines are the t480 has the stock nvme and the t430 has a samsung sata ssd. additionally the t480 has a dual install with windows 11 installed on a separate partition as this was the os the device came with. I figured it was nice to have a free copy of windows 11 and I figured I'd leave it installed in case I ever need it for something but I mainly run to manjaro. Noteworthy - win11 wakes from sleep instantly so it's just a manjaro issue

This is my first play through of Troy and I am playing as Hector of Troy. I’ve grown to really like the game over the campaign, but I can see why it’s not liked that much due to the really difficult resource and campaign mechanics. After watching a few videos, I feel like I was managing my economy really well until I became King of Troy. The very thing I have been working towards this entire campaign is in fact not a blessing, but a curse. I went from a positive 5k food per turn to -16 THOUSAND. And because the Troy 20-stack army is so good, I went from about 500 bronze per turn to almost -300. I don’t think bartering with what I currently have will get me even close to breaking even on those resources, and my entire campaign may be screwed. Is there anything I can do to get out of this 16k hole other than completely dismantling some armies?
Also, the entire Greek peninsula declared war on me (with about 8 armies trying to land all across my territories), and I can’t field enough armies to be everywhere at once. I feel like this is just a way harsher version of realm divide from Shogun II, except in Shogun II you can build your economy up to prepare, and in this it’s extremely difficult to do that.
