Also saw the Futuras in hand this morning (he had a 9.5, my size, for 450) and they really are a nice collab but i told him for that price I'll try my luck on sneakers and the few skate shop raffles I enter tomorrow morning...Their nice, but not 450 nice cuz they gone get dirty real fast with the materials they used....just my 2 cents for anyone planning on buying resale if they don't hit for retail manana....

2024.05.21 22:12 lime_coconut Congratulations, Madame Mayor!

Just got the ADN notification: LaFrance declares victory in Anchorage mayor’s race.
Very chuffed. I hope she does well, and I hope she and Bill Popp may work together. I hope she gets the vacancies filled, works on a good housing plan, and gets things more organized in general. Let our LaFrance era commence.
https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/anchorage/2024/05/21/lafrance-declares-victory-in-anchorage-mayors-race/
Former Assembly chair Suzanne LaFrance on Tuesday declared victory in the runoff election for Anchorage mayor.
In the most recent count released Friday, LaFrance had 53.5% of the vote, and was leading incumbent Mayor Dave Bronson by 5,487 votes out of a total of 78,476 ballots counted so far. Election officials on Monday reported they had received 80,182 ballots, with just over 100 ballots arriving by mail.
In a written statement Tuesday, LaFrance’s campaign said, “while every vote must and should be counted, the 5,487 votes separating LaFrance and Bronson as of Monday are greater than the number of outstanding ballots expected, making a change in results statistically impossible.”
“I’m grateful for all the support and the clear outcome of this election,” LaFrance said in a statement. “As I’ve said throughout the campaign, local government isn’t about left or right. It’s about coming together to get things done. I’m excited about what we can do in this next chapter for Anchorage.”
LaFrance, a registered nonpartisan, will be the first woman elected mayor of Anchorage.
A spokesman for Bronson’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

2024.05.21 22:11 Mammoth_Candidate422 Welcome.

This is the metro bank community (I am not the owner of metro bank and I do have a cash account with them and also a business account). Post stuff that are about metro bank or about other banks and say for example "What bank should I choose Metro Bank or NatWest?" Also make it so someone can answer it and you can post reviews, issues (about the app or Metro Bank) and fees about outside of the UK or EU as I checked it says they have fees or something.

2024.05.21 22:11 Healthy-Neat-3088 Is it possible to have ADHD when working as a bookkeeper?

Hey,
I've been hyper fixating about ADHD for about a week now and I don't know why.
There are symptoms that I relate very much to like being easily distracted, careless mistakes, zoning out/daydreaming, listening to someone speak but not quite registering what was being said, especially when there's a group of people then I just don't participate in the conversations.
I'm 30 years old, failed college 2 times and am working as a bookkeeper and now I'm thinking of going to college and 3 the third time.
I've had problems with addiction for many years and that might be the reason for failing college but generally I never can focus for too long on learning something boring.
I'm generally pretty organized, phone always in the same place, keys always in the same place, everything has its place, I'm not forgetful but I write everything down on lists, I do forget little things at work often though but never miss deadlines.
Now the waiting time to get an ADHD diagnosis through public service is like 4 years here in Iceland but privately it costs a lot.
College is starting soon and I'm contemplating if I should pay a lot and get a diagnosis but I'm anxious that may just be a waste of money as not all the symptoms fit for me but I don't wanna fail school once again.
What should I do?
Is it even possible to have ADHD as a bookkeeper?

2024.05.21 22:10 inadryseason Seeking a bookkeeper for S Corporation

Hi there,
I am in need of a bookkeeper for my small construction company, which operates as an S corporation. The business consists of myself and a few subcontractors. I am looking to get a firm grasp on my finances and effectively track my spending.
I am seeking a professional based strictly in the U.S., who is familiar with taxes and can provide financial advice. If needed, I am willing to set up QuickBooks and work with you to determine the best system for my needs. Given the access to sensitive information, including potentially my bank statements, we will need to establish a contract to ensure confidentiality and security.
I aim to have everything in place for the upcoming tax season, including setting up a W-2 for myself. Guidance on this process would be greatly appreciated.
As I review candidates, I will conduct interviews and perform thorough research to find the best fit. If your services meet my needs, I may also require personal bookkeeping assistance to monitor my spending and manage my tax obligations.
Please provide your credentials and any pertinent information to assist in my decision-making process.

I'll update this as I go. Please check back when you can and point out errors if you can find any.

GameStop (GME) Deep Dive (DD)

Hey Apes! 🦍🚀
Let's dive into a comprehensive analysis of GameStop (GME), covering key factors that could influence the stock price, technical analysis, potential catalysts, market sentiment, and important dates. This DD aims to provide a well-rounded understanding of what might impact GME in the near future.

Potential Failure of the LULD Mechanism and Its Impact on a MOASS

The Limit Up-Limit Down (LULD) mechanism is designed to prevent extreme volatility by setting upper and lower price bands for stocks. However, in certain scenarios, this mechanism can fail, potentially leading to the Mother of All Short Squeezes (MOASS). Here’s how this could happen, along with the mathematical implications.

How the LULD Mechanism Can Fail

  1. Extreme Market Volatility:
    • Rapid Successive Halts: During periods of extreme volatility, the price of a stock like GME can hit the upper limit repeatedly, causing successive trading halts. This can exacerbate panic and volatility rather than calming the market.
    • Example: If GME’s price rapidly moves from $100 to $150 within a short period, hitting multiple LULD halts, it can create a feedback loop of volatility.
  2. Algorithmic Trading and High-Frequency Trading (HFT):
    • Algorithmic Pressure: High-frequency trading algorithms can push prices rapidly, triggering the LULD bands frequently. If these algorithms continue to trade aggressively, they can cause more volatility.
    • Market Manipulation: There’s a theoretical risk that traders could manipulate prices by coordinating trades to trigger LULD bands, although such actions are illegal.
  3. Technical Glitches:
    • System Failures: Technical issues or outages can disrupt the LULD mechanism. If trading systems fail during high volatility, it could lead to unmanaged price spikes.
  4. Market Fragmentation:
    • Inconsistent Application: With trading occurring across multiple venues, discrepancies in how LULD bands are applied can lead to inconsistent trading halts and market confusion.

Impact on MOASS

  1. Short Covering and Buy Pressure:
    • Short Interest: If GME has a high short interest (e.g., 64.37 million shares shorted), a rapid price increase can trigger margin calls for short sellers. They will be forced to buy back shares to cover their positions, adding to the buying pressure.
    • Example Calculation:
      • Initial Price: $20
      • Short Interest: 64.37 million shares
      • Price Increase: If the price increases to $100, short sellers might need to cover, buying back 64.37 million shares.
  2. Buying Pressure Dynamics:
    • Mathematics of Covering:
      • If short sellers need to cover 64.37 million shares and the average daily trading volume is 10 million shares, it would take 6.437 trading days to cover without additional buying pressure.
      • However, in a MOASS scenario, buying pressure can skyrocket, reducing the time frame significantly.
  3. Example Scenario:
    • Price Movement and Halts:
      • Day 1: Price moves from $20 to $50, triggering multiple LULD halts.
      • Day 2: Price moves from $50 to $100 due to continued buying pressure and short covering.
      • Mathematical Implication:
      • Short sellers covering 64.37 million shares at an average price of $75 would need $4.828 billion.
      • If the price moves to $200 due to continued pressure, the required funds double to $12.874 billion for covering the same short interest.

Potential for Exponential Price Increase

Conclusion

The failure of the LULD mechanism during periods of extreme volatility, driven by high-frequency trading and market manipulation, can lead to a significant short squeeze. The mathematical implications show how rapid price increases and forced short covering can create a feedback loop, potentially leading to a MOASS. Understanding these dynamics helps investors anticipate potential market movements and the limitations of volatility contols.

Key Factors Influencing GME's Stock Price

  1. Fundamental Analysis
    • Earnings Reports: GME's quarterly earnings can significantly impact the stock price. The next earnings report on June 5, 2024, is crucial. Strong financial performance or strategic announcements can boost investor confidence.
    • Revenue and Profitability: GME has reported $5.27 billion in revenue over the past 12 months with a net income of $6.70 million. Monitoring these indicators is essential for long-term valuation.
    • Debt Levels: ### Debt-to-Equity Ratio Calculation
Debt-to-Equity Ratio
Debt-to-Equity Ratio = Total Debt / Total Equity Debt-to-Equity Ratio = 34.6 million / 1,267.2 million Debt-to-Equity Ratio = 0.027

Summary

Explanation

The debt-to-equity ratio decreased from 0.045 to 0.027 due to GameStop's efforts to reduce its debt while maintaining its equity base. This lower ratio indicates a stronger equity position and less reliance on debt.

Current Creditors

GameStop's current debt includes a French term loan, part of their short-term and long-term debt obligations.
  1. Technical Analysis
    • Support and Resistance Levels: Key support levels are around $20, while resistance levels are between $50 and $60. Breaking through these levels can indicate potential price movements.
    • Volume: High trading volumes can signal strong investor interest. Monitor volume spikes for potential price actions.
    • Patterns: Watch for technical patterns like the descending triangle, which is typically bearish. However, a breakout above resistance could indicate a bullish reversal.

Adjusted Float and Short Interest

Outstanding Shares: 306.19 million Minus DRS: 75.5 million Minus Institutional Holdings: Approximately 87.17 million Minus Insider Holdings: Approximately 61.46 million + Ryan Cohen's Holdings (36.847 million)
Adjusted Float Calculation: 306.19 million (Outstanding Shares) - 75.5 million (DRS) - 87.17 million (Institutional Holdings) - (61.46 million + 36.847 million) (Insider Holdings including Cohen's) = 45.213 million
Short Interest Percentage: (64.37 million / 45.213 million) * 100 ≈ 142.3%

Potential Use of Warrants and Preferred Stock

Issuing Warrants: - Concept: GameStop could issue warrants to shareholders as a dividend, e.g., 1 warrant per 7 shares owned. - Benefit: This incentivizes shareholders and provides potential to buy shares at a favorable price, creating scarcity in common stock.
Preferred Shares: - Concept: Issuing preferred shares can offer fixed dividends and have priority over common shares in liquidation. - Impact: Preferred shares require board approval and SEC filings, potentially affecting the market and short sellers by reducing the float of common shares.

Impact of 45 Million New Shares

Response to the Theory on GME's Recent S-3 Filing:

What’s Happening:

  1. S-3 Filing History:
    • GameStop filed a Form S-3 to potentially issue up to 1 billion shares, with 300 million currently outstanding. This is similar to a move they made in December 2020 before the January 2021 short squeeze. The S-3 allows GameStop to register securities quickly and respond swiftly to market conditions.
    • Source: www.investing.com

Why This Matters:

  1. Two Possible Outcomes for Shorts:
    • Accept the Offer: Shorts could buy the offered shares, admitting their positions and potentially converting to longs.
    • Decline the Offer: If shorts don’t accept, it exposes the extent of their naked short positions, revealing potential fraud.

Strategic Implications:

  1. Regulator Signal:
    • This filing signals to the SEC that GameStop is willing to resolve the situation constructively, placing the onus on shorts to reveal their positions. This strategic move puts pressure on shorts and highlights the transparency and compliance of GameStop’s management.

Relevant Data and Comparisons:

  1. Historical Context and Data:
    • December 2020 Example: Before the January 2021 short squeeze, GameStop made a similar filing. The shorts didn’t cover, leading to a massive price surge. For instance, the stock price skyrocketed from around $20 to an intraday high of $483 on January 28, 2021.
    • Current Short Interest: As of May 2024, GME’s short interest remains high, with 64,373,343 shares short, representing 20.55% of the float. This high short interest indicates a significant potential for another short squeeze if the shorts are forced to cover.
    • Sources: www.tradingview.com, www.investing.com
  2. Market Reactions and Patterns:
    • Volume and Price Data: Recent high trading volumes and price surges, such as GME’s rise to $80 in pre-market trading, suggest strong market reactions to strategic filings and movements. This pattern mirrors past events and indicates potential future volatility.
    • Source: www.tradingview.com

Comparisons to Other Companies:

  1. Tesla (TSLA):
    • Similar Scenario: Tesla faced significant short interest and skepticism but managed to drive its stock price up through strong financial performance and strategic moves. Retail investor support played a crucial role, forcing shorts to cover and leading to a massive short squeeze. For instance, Tesla's stock price increased from around $50 in 2019 to over $800 in 2021.
    • Result: Tesla's market cap increased substantially, showcasing the power of strategic corporate actions combined with retail investor momentum.
  2. Volkswagen (VW) 2008:
    • Historical Short Squeeze: Volkswagen became the world’s most valuable company briefly in 2008 during a short squeeze when Porsche revealed it had a majority stake in VW. This forced short sellers to cover their positions at significantly higher prices, causing the stock price to soar from around €210 to over €1,000 within a few days.
    • Impact: The stock price soared, illustrating the potential power of strategic moves and market reactions, similar to what could happen with GameStop if shorts are forced to cover.

Conclusion:

This isn’t about diluting shares but offering shorts a way out and proving to regulators that GameStop is handling this responsibly. Whether shorts accept or decline, their actions will reveal the extent of their positions, potentially leading to a significant market impact.
Stay strong, apes! 🚀🦍💎🙌

GameStop recently authorized the issuance of up to 45 million new shares. Here's the potential impact on the stock and short interest:
  1. Dilution Effect:
    • Outstanding Shares Increase: The total outstanding shares would increase from 306.19 million to 351.19 million if all 45 million shares are issued.
    • Adjusted Float Calculation: ``` 351.19 million (New Outstanding Shares)
      • 75.5 million (DRS)
      • 87.17 million (Institutional Holdings)
      • (61.46 million + 36.847 million) (Insider Holdings including Cohen's) = 90.213 million ```
  2. Revised Short Interest Percentage: (64.37 million / 90.213 million) * 100 ≈ 71.37%

Upcoming Key Dates

Recent Technical Analysis Insights

Support and Resistance Levels: - Support: Key support levels for GME appear around $20. These levels provide a base where the stock has historically found buying interest. - Resistance: Significant resistance levels are around $50-$60. Breaking through these levels could indicate further upward momentum.
Volume Trends: - High trading volumes during the January 2021 short squeeze indicate strong market interest. Monitoring volume can help gauge the strength of price movements.
Technical Patterns: - Descending Triangle: The recent chart shows a descending triangle pattern, which is typically bearish. However, a breakout above the resistance line could signal a reversal and potential price increase.

Projected Movements

Short Squeeze Potential: - High Short Interest: With 64.37 million shares shorted, any significant buying pressure could trigger a short squeeze, driving the price up dramatically.
Upcoming Catalysts: - Earnings Report on June 5, 2024: Positive earnings or strategic announcements could boost investor confidence and drive the stock price higher. - Regulatory Deadlines on May 24 and May 31, 2024: Increased transparency and regulatory compliance could impact market dynamics. Nice one, but you forgot one hype date:

2024 Annual Meeting of Stockholders (“annual meeting”) on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., CDT

LEAPS and Other MOASS Theories

LEAPS (Long-Term Equity Anticipation Securities): - Concept: LEAPS are options with expiration dates longer than one year. They can be used by investors to gain leveraged exposure to GME's price movements over a longer period. - Impact: If retail investors continue to buy LEAPS, it can create significant upward pressure on the stock price as market makers hedge their positions by buying the underlying stock.
Preferred Shares and Warrants: - Issuance of Preferred Shares or Warrants: GME could issue preferred shares or warrants to shareholders, creating additional buying pressure as these instruments are exercised.
Naked Short Selling and Regulatory Compliance: - May 24, 2024: Deadline for resolving all outstanding material inconsistencies for FINRA CAT reporting, increasing market transparency and potentially impacting short selling practices. - January 2, 2025: Implementation of new SEC rules, which could further enhance market transparency and impact short interest reporting.

New Data: Ryan Cohen's Insider Transactions

Insider Transactions: - Ryan Cohen: Recent Form 4 from 2023 filing shows Cohen acquired 253,204 shares at $22.2485 and 190,638 shares at $22.9075. Total shares beneficially owned after transactions are 36,657,204 and 36,847,842 respectively.

Conclusion

While predicting GME's exact price movements is challenging, several factors suggest potential for upward movement: - High Short Interest: Potential for a short squeeze. - Technical Indicators: Key support levels and potential breakout patterns. - Market Sentiment: Positive retail investor activity and upcoming catalysts. - LEAPS and Other MOASS Theories: Additional strategies like LEAPS and preferred shares could contribute to upward pressure.

Theoretical MOASS (Mother of All Short Squeezes) and Potential Prices for GME

Understanding the potential outcomes of a MOASS for GameStop (GME) involves several key factors and calculations. Here, we'll break down some of the critical components that could influence the theoretical prices during a MOASS.

Key Factors

  1. Short Interest and Float: The higher the short interest relative to the float, the more pressure on short sellers to cover their positions, potentially driving the price up.
  2. Buy-In Pressure: Retail investors holding and buying more shares can create scarcity, driving the price higher as shorts scramble to cover.
  3. Market Dynamics and Liquidity: As the price rises, liquidity becomes a significant factor. Higher prices may lead to increased volatility and rapid price swings.

Short Interest and Float Calculation

Using the current data:
Outstanding Shares: 306.19 million Minus DRS: 75.5 million Minus Institutional Holdings: Approximately 87.17 million Minus Insider Holdings: Approximately 61.46 million + Ryan Cohen's Holdings (36.847 million)
Adjusted Float Calculation: 306.19 million (Outstanding Shares) - 75.5 million (DRS) - 87.17 million (Institutional Holdings) - (61.46 million + 36.847 million) (Insider Holdings including Cohen's) = 45.213 million
Short Interest: 64.37 million shares

Theoretical MOASS Price Calculation

The theoretical price during a MOASS can vary widely based on the demand for shares and the willingness of retail investors to hold their positions. Here are a few scenarios to consider:

Scenario 1: Moderate Short Covering

Scenario 2: High Short Covering Pressure

Scenario 3: Extreme MOASS Scenario

Important Considerations

  1. Regulatory Impact: Changes in regulations, such as those from the SEC or FINRA, could impact the dynamics of short selling and buying pressure.
  2. Market Sentiment: Market sentiment and external factors like news, earnings reports, and strategic announcements can significantly impact the stock price.
  3. Psychological Factors: The psychological impact on both retail investors and institutional players can lead to irrational price movements, either upwards or downwards.

Conclusion

Predicting the exact price during a MOASS is challenging due to the many variables involved. However, understanding the key factors and potential scenarios can provide a framework for what might happen. Stay informed, and always be cautious with your investments.

2024.05.21 22:09 maxikaz19 Is Gemini safer than Binance?

Is Gemini safer than Binance?
When it comes to determining the safety of cryptocurrency exchanges like Gemini and Binance, several factors need consideration. Both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses in terms of security measures, regulatory compliance, and user protections.
Gemini, founded by the Winklevoss twins, has positioned itself as a highly regulated exchange in the United States. It is registered with the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS) and adheres to strict regulatory requirements, including capital reserves and cybersecurity protocols. Gemini also offers insurance coverage for digital assets held in its custody, providing an extra layer of protection for users.
On the other hand, Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges globally, operates under a more decentralized structure and is not subject to the same level of regulatory oversight as Gemini. While Binance implements security measures such as two-factor authentication (2FA) and cold storage for the majority of user funds, its regulatory status varies by jurisdiction, leading to potential concerns regarding compliance and investor protection.
Ultimately, the perception of safety between Gemini and Binance may vary depending on individual risk tolerance and regulatory preferences. Some users may prioritize the stringent regulatory framework of Gemini, while others may appreciate the flexibility and global accessibility offered by Binance.
In conclusion, both Gemini and Binance have implemented security measures to safeguard user funds, but the level of regulatory oversight and compliance differs between the two exchanges. Users should conduct thorough research and consider their own risk factors before choosing an exchange.

Any information on this bill?
Hey guys, I only know basics when it comes to money. I inquiried about the bill to Heritage auctions and they offered me $650 for it. Seems like a bill with this bank hasn't gone up for auction in over 10 years. It's a 1929 $10 bill. Just want to know it's true worth in your opinion before I get rid of it and give the funds to my parents as a gift. Story behind it is my mother was a manager for a fast food chain in Georgia about 40 years ago and an old lady paid for her meal with the note. My mom ended up keeping the bill and put her own money in the register. She just held onto it for a long time and it survived several moves. Thanks in advance for your responses.

2024.05.21 22:09 PotentialPineapple50 Family events?

I have a troop of young Brownies. They want to camp and go on local overnight trips, but they are not ready to go without a caregiver. The moms in my troop are great - they are registered and background checked, are willing to do trainings, and they also back off and let the girls bond and learn together. They have done 1 overnight camping trip so far and I think it went really well. I am being told by my service unit that I should limit how many moms can go to events and have the girls do overnights on their own. I’m all for that when they’re a bit older, but I would hate for them to miss out on adventures now when it’s been going so smoothly (girls would simply refuse to stay overnight if their moms can’t stay, as of now). Is it not ok for our troop to be more family oriented and not have a goal for every outing be total independence? I feel like our troop’s (girl led!) goal and our service unit’s goals are clashing??

2024.05.21 22:08 The-Indef-Integral Can someone help me with this RAM program

Hi all, I am a math major with limited computer science knowledge, and I happen to be doing theoretical CS for my summer research project. Right now I'm reading about the fundamentals of complexity theory (from Papadimitriou's Computational Complexity), and I have trouble understanding why the RAM program in the picture multiplies two binary numbers together. Specifically, I struggle with understanding lines 11-12; it seems to me that the RAM adds Register 5 to Register 4 only if the kth least significant bit of the second input is NOT zero.
Could I ask if someone can explain why this RAM works?
Thanks so much!

2024.05.21 22:08 datagovi New operations model?

Hey guys! I'm hailing from PetSmart, so I don't know as much as you guys. I saw talk about this restructuring and someone mentioned they're getting rid of aquatics specialists. Is this true? I was offered a job personally by my local Petco and I was hoping to move into that position once a few people were moved around. I was looking forward to the specialist role since I wouldn't be stuck on the register every shift like I am at PetSmart, and I love animals and have saltwatefreshwater tanks. But if they're getting rid of that position I guess I'll work somewhere else 😭 thank you in advance!

Refurbished Jura Z10: what I wish I knew before getting one
Long story short, it’s amazing, but also expensive as hell and the customer service isn’t as great as you might think:
Parents got my fiancée and I a Z6 for our wedding which we’re incredibly thankful for. We managed to talk them down from a brand new Z10 to a refurbed Z6 to at least not go full stupid on the gift. It’s a huge freaking gift already. The machine arrived and we immediately tried it out with our decaf Peet’s ground coffee down the back shoot just to test it out. Yes, it’s against the coffee gods, but we weren’t having caffeine at 6 PM on a work night.
Whelp, it took 3 scoops to get the machine to register it had coffee to work with despite a big warning saying NO MORE THAN 2 SCOOPS! Weird but okay. We finally brew the coffee. Tastes great all things considered! Later we try to learn the system so I go to clean it. Pull out the drip tray and wouldn’t you know it there’s a big ol pile of dry coffee grounds at the back of the tray. Neat! We clean it up and I call support. Woops, they’re not open on weekends. Okay fine, we’ll call during the week.
Finally get a hold of support, turns out the machine can’t handle fine coffee grounds. There’s some kind of bypass and the machine will just let it right on through. Keep adding grounds and you’ll gum up the coffee maker, so stop that!
Me: It’s a $2400 (refurbed z6) coffee maker, and you’re saying it can’t handle regular old off the shelf Peets ground coffee? Support guy: Yup, I am sure am. It’s a great coffee maker though! You’ll love it.
So now from support we have three options:
1.) accept/ignore the problem and only buy whole bean decaf and grind it ourselves from now on (annoying, and there could be an actual problem)
2.) send the machine back to get it serviced, this may or may not involve shipping costs because the machine is working perfectly fine sir. Also your machine is going to go bye bye for a month potentially between getting there, being serviced, and getting back to you.
3.) return the machine. No you don’t get a refund. Yes shipping is on you. So effectively, test driving a z6 for a couple weeks could cost $150-250 depending on shipping rates. Neat!
PS: There is no exchange option. I asked.
So we’re incredibly happy with the coffee the machine makes when we just let it make normal coffee, that’s wonderful. The lattes are in fact amazing. But we also thought customer support would be wonderful, and in this case it just isn’t. We’re probably just going to live with the issue and always remind my parents how much we love the machine and pray it last more than 5 years.
Other fun notes, because the z6 is discontinued if we ever send it in for service (which you have to every few years whether you like it or not) it’s going to be a minimum $500. Holy hell! Didn’t find that on the website, it’s probably listed somewhere but I can’t find it. Other fun note, our unit came with 1770 cups made on it. Also holy hell! It’s already multiple years into its life! We figured it’d have a couple hundred, maybe even 500 or 600, but 1770?
So at this point, if we were to do it all again, we’d either just wait for a sale on mid range model or probably go with not Jura. The coffee truly is excellent, but a multiple thousand dollar coffee maker should not be defeated by store bought generic coffee, nor should it cost the customer money to exchange it, nor should a refurb with 1770 uses be allowed to go to a customer without letting them know it could be that high.

2024.05.21 22:02 MisterCritique Mall Vacation Giveaway

A few months ago, I entered a giveaway at my local mall for a Bahamas Vacation for 2. On the slip I filled out my name and phone number. The slip stated explicitly at the top: "NOT A TIME SHARE- Names will NOT be sold." At the bottom of the slip it states: "By filling out this entry card you are accepting: You may be contacted, and considered a "Winner". All winners will receive a "Free 4 day 3 Night Vacation in the Bahamas:, winners will still be responsible for all normal travel expenses, including transportation resort/service fees and taxes." At the very bottom it reads "LICENSED AND BONDED FLA, SELLER OF TRAVEL REG. NO. ST37536" This was a month or 2 I filled it out, today they sent me a text message stating that they are with WattersonTravel. com, in the message they included a photo of my original slip and a congratulations, along with the mall I filled it out at. I replied stating that it was me, they messaged me back saying that I won the "FREE 5 day 4 night" trip to the Bahamas, although it stated on the slip is was 4 day 3 nights. They also included a number to their office that I would have to call to registebook, which I have 4 days to do. Upon calling the number I am met with a prerecorded message with all the details about the trip. There are 3 hotels in which I can choose from, along with a 1-night pass on a cruise ship to the Bahamas leaving from Florida, there and back I believe, along with an extra night at whatever hotel/resort I chose. After the very long drawn out recording explaining all the hotels and details I am connected with an agent who will set up an account for me on their site ( WattersonTravel. com ), and informed me that I will have to pay a 18 or 19 dollar booking fee per person beforehand and then my account would be created and activated so I can book, They then immediately asked how I would like to pay for that, master card visa etc. I told them I would like to do this tomorrow and the man didnt sound to happy about it, but was still polite. Is this a scam? Does anyone have experience with this, should I go for it or stray away??

2024.05.21 21:59 West-Cloud9464 Recommendations for PVG (reposition OK) - NYC award redemptions for J/F

Hey everyone,
Would love your advice on the following: I'm looking to fly back from PVG - NYC around Jan 31, 2025 (+/- 2 days) using points. Because of some stupid decisions on my part, I have a bunch of stranded points: 50K VS, 90K AP, 18K Krisflyer, that I can also supplement with ~325K MR and ~100K UR as needed.
Options I've considered are:
  1. PVG-SIN via SQ in business or first class (originally was going for suites F on A380 but it appears they JUST removed ALL their suites availability post October 2024... maybe impending aircraft swap?),
followed by SIN-JFK/EWR either on SQ J for 110K Krisflyer miles (there seems to be a lot of availability for this)
or via Aeroplan: can do SIN-LHR-JFK on SQ A380 J -> UA Polaris J, or SIN-AMS-JFK on SQ A350 J -> UA Polaris J
2) PVG-TYO by cash economy (unless there are good J redemptions here), followed by TYO-JFK on ANA (though the availability will be completely unpredictable due to limited flexiblity)
3) Other options?
Overall, I care most about experiencing new J/F cabins that I have not experienced yet (so far only have done ANA new config J/F). Not so worried about spending extra time/layovers on the journey. It would be nice to be able to use up one of these pools of stranded points (VS, KF, AP). It would also be a plus to lock in the plan sooner rather than later - don't want to be banking on T-14 availability. Lastly, I'm not too stressed about cpp value for the redemptions - just want to use points to be able to experience different J/F
Do you guys have any other tips or suggestions for redemptions and routes?
Thanks all in advance! I have really appreciated this subreddit - it has literally changed my life

2024.05.21 21:58 Atmosphere_Mean Finally got an update from Yotta. Good news if you have any YottaCash available to cash out.

Finally got an update from Yotta. Good news if you have any YottaCash available to cash out.
I tried cashing out on $213.40 today as I had won it a bit ago, which in the moment surprised me, specially since during the midst of this madness between the banks and our funds, when I tried cashing it out, it said there was an error with my connected bank (BoA) and to try another bank, since I don't have another bank I disregarded it as bs, until today when I disconnected my connected account, and tried to connect it back, after many tries that ended in failure for some odd reason, and when I was about to give it all up, on my last try it actually took, and then I was able to cash out my YottaCash.
My original message to Yotta support was to get help connecting my BoA account to Yotta when I was struggling to get it done, they responded after about an hour from my inquiry when I had already successfully connected my account again. It was when they responded that I should see it in a 3 business days (we'll see this Friday), when I asked them if it would successfully deposit into my connected account.

2024.05.21 21:57 bennydabull99 Are all clerks able to work both sides of the register?

I assume this is part of the training and they are able to do this, but are there clerks who are just slow and can only do 1 at a time, or is the slowdown always due to customers not being ready, not having money, talking, etc.
I want to go up to the other side of the register but sometimes it looks like the cashier is struggling.

2024.05.21 21:56 Melodic_Run_9077 My Experience Applying for Youth Mobility Scheme Visa

I found Reddit posts to be a good resource for each step of the Youth Mobility Scheme Visa application process, so wanted to make a post sharing some tips, timelines, and what to expect. For context, I am a 25M Canadian with an engineering degree, moving to London in the fall without a job lined up as of yet.
1. Application (60-90 mins)
The application process is not difficult, and took me about 60-90 mins. One thing it asks you about is your international travel history over the last 10 years, so it would be helpful to have that information handy. It also asks when you plan on arriving in the UK, so you should have an idea of that too. It doesn't have to be exact but you will have a 90 day window for entry from the date you select, so give yourself some buffer if you are undecided. You will also need to indicate the location (post office) you will pick up your BRP card once you arrive. I recommend picking a location that is easy to get to if you don't know where you will be living yet.
Towards the end of the application, you will be directed to a website where you will pay your application fee and NHS surcharge (charged to credit card in USD). Once you have paid, you can book a biometrics appointment at the location nearest you. For me, this was VFS in the Yorkville area of Toronto. The closest available appointment for me at the time was 3-4 weeks away. There are optional services such as expedited/primetime appointments, courier delivery, document scanning assistance, SMS updates, keep your passport during processing, etc. The prices for these options were insanely high so I don't recommend paying for any extras unless you are on a very tight timeline. I think the SMS text updates were only $5 if that gives you peace of mind.
2. Proof of funds documents and Biometrics appointment (3-4 weeks for appointment + 1 week for visa processing)
Once your appointment is confirmed, you can upload your proof of funds documents using the VFS online tool. You need to show that you had the minimum funds (£2,530) in an accessible account for 28 consecutive days, with the most recent of those 28 days being no earlier than 30 days from your visa application date. I was able to download a statement from my savings account showing the rolling balance for a certain month, so I used that. I had read online about bank statements being tricky as the immigration office wants a date of issue on the statement, so to be safe I went to my bank and got a letter of good standing, dated and stamped within the required timeframe, and uploaded that too.
On the day of your appointment, print and bring your appointment confirmation (has a QR code the immigration office scans) and document checklist. You will receive both in an email after your Visa application is submitted. You will get a number and be called for your biometrics (photo taken for Visa vignette, fingerprints) and submit your passport in a Fedex envelope which is provided to you. I was at VFS for about 25 mins. They also give you a SIM card that comes with 1 month free cell service in the UK which is helpful.
A few days after my appointment, I received an email notifying me that my Visa was being processed. A few days after that, I got an email saying my passport was ready for pickup. They had me open the envelope to ensure my Visa was there, then I was free to go. I did not pay for any expediting, and the time between my biometrics appointment and picking up my visa was 4-5 business days I think.
3. Once you have your Visa
Start the job search. It may be helpful to indicate on your CV that you have the right to work in the UK, especially if you have a Canadian phone number like me.
There are lots of things to consider before making the move. Pause/cancel any subscriptions you won't use, downgrade your phone plan to a cheap plan if you want to keep your phone number, sort out your finances. I was able to open a UK HSBC bank account from here in Canada quite easily, which should make things easier when I land.
Lastly, you have to pick up your BRP card within 10 days of arriving in the UK. I believe the BRP will get you in and out of the country, while the Visa is more of an entry document.

2024.05.21 21:53 arsnoh Need to grow 150K to 200K

Hi all, I’m looking to buy my first property within the next year. I have currently about 153K (split between TFSA and non-registered GICs). My chequing has roughly 16K, and I’ve already moved an entire years worth of rent into an EQ savings account.
My net income is roughly $7600/month and I have no debt/CCs. My expenses (not counting rent since it’s been moved aside) are roughly 500 a month.
I’m fairly confident I can grow my net worth to over 200K in one year but I would really like to have 30-40k sitting in my bank after I paying a 200K down payment. What’s the most optimal way to grow 150K in 12 months given I 100% intend to put a 200K down payment.
Thank you.
