2024.05.21 22:00 SapphireRising225 Study: Western women and men show similarities and differences when choosing a foreign partner

I notice there is a lot of talk about cross international dating (ex: passport bros) on this subreddit and the manosphere at large. I thought it would be interesting to share this study by a Swedish researcher named, Annika Elwert, who has studied gendered differences in foreign mate preferences between men and women in western countries.
The three countries she’s mainly studied are her home country Sweden, Spain and the USA by analyzing data on natives with foreign spouses. This what she found in Sweden for example regarding changes in patterns in cross national marriages:
Until the turn of the millennium, Swedish men who married across national borders usually chose women from Norway and Finland. In the early 2000s, a change in men's marriage patterns crystallised. Partly because of increased international travel, Thai women became the most common group of foreign women to marry Swedish men. However, Swedish women are rarely in relationships with Thai men.
In 2023 Elwert published a study focusing on Spain and USA to see if these patterns hold. She found some interesting differences and similarities between men and women when it came to choosing a foreign spouse that I thought were worth sharing.
Just a heads up, before I delve deeper into the study, I should note the researchers for this study only looked at marriages between natives in the USA who were of non-Hispanic European heritage and those with two parents born in Spain, to foreigners. So large swaths of the population are being left out of this study as it only examines foreign spouse preferences for certain members of the native population not the entire. Just keep that in mind:
We restrict the native population to the non-Hispanic of European descent born in the United States. Similarly for Spain, we restrict the native population to people born in Spain whose parents are also born in Spain. These restrictions are intended to minimize the impact that cross-national couples between international migrants and descendants of migrants of the same origins might have in our analyses (ex. Mexicans in the United States or Moroccans in Spain).
Regardless, I thought the results would interesting to discuss, here is a summary of the most important findings:
Sociologist Annika Elwert has previously studied marriage patterns in Sweden and, in a recent article, examined statistical databases of Spanish and American men and women who have a foreign partner. Their marriage patterns are similar to those of Swedes.
In the US, it is common to have a partner from neighbouring countries or Europe, but many American men also have a partner or wife from the Philippines. However, American women rarely marry Filipino men, preferring Germans and Mexicans. Among Spaniards, marriages with people from France, Germany and Argentina are common. Spanish women also choose partners from Senegal and Morocco, which is rare among Spanish men. Statistically, they prefer women from Romania and Colombia.
Although there are many commonalities in the marriage patterns of men and women, differences remain. Men more often marry much younger women from countries with lower education and living standards. The general trend is that the greater the difference in development between countries, the greater the age difference between the native man and the foreign woman. If the women come from countries with a similar level of development, the age difference is comparatively small.
“It is difficult to say why this is the case. One possible explanation is that when men have a preference for much younger women, it can be challenging to realise this preference in the domestic marriage market. It may be easier if she comes from a less developed country, where, for example, the marital age gap is usually larger," says Annika Elwert.
The same phenomenon is visible when considering countries' gender equality. Men from Spain or the US are more likely to marry partners from countries with low gender equality. In contrast, Spanish and American women rarely marry men from countries with low gender equality. An exception is American women. They are often in relationships with Mexican men.
So native men are more likely to marry foreign spouse from a less developed countries in places like SEA, Latin America, Eastern Europe, while native women are more likely to marry someone from developed countries and Western Europe. However, this trend changes depending on the region, with native women in Europe being more likely to marry someone from Africa and the Middle East compared to their male counterparts for example.
Native men are also more likely to be in relationships with a larger age gap compared to native women, although there has been slight increase in the latter:
When women from the US or Spain marry foreign men, the age difference is generally small. However, Annika Elwert's research shows that it has become more common for Swedish and Spanish women to have younger partners from less developed countries. This is not the case among American women.
Here is the full summary of the study: https://www.soc.lu.se/en/article/women-and-men-show-more-similarities-when-choosing-foreign-partner
Here is the full study which has more details and graphs: Read the article published in Population and Development Review
My basic summary of the studies is:
European men (Spain and Sweden), tend to marry partners from Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, with notable gender disparities seen in marriages with Russian/Latin American women in Spain and largest age gaps in marriages with African women. European women from these countries are more likely to marry partners from neighboring regions, Western Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, with significant gender disparities observed in marriages with men from Africa. While European women are much less likely to marry younger partners from developing countries, there's a slight uptick in such unions, (particularly with Eastern European men interestingly enough), although this trend isn't mirrored in the US despite US women being more likely to marry men from developing countries then their European counterparts.
In the US, similarities exist between native men and European men in terms of marrying partners from Asia and Eastern Europe, with pronounced gender disparities seen in marriages with partners from Asia and age gaps being the largest with SEA Asian women and Certain Eastern European countries (Russia/Ukraine). US women are more likely to marry partners from Lebanon, Turkey, and India. Interestingly, there's less of a gender gap in marrying partners from Latin America in the US, although preferences vary by individual countries within Latin America. Native US men are more likely to marry someone from Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, El Salvador and Peru while native US women are more likely to marry someone from Mexico, The Caribbean, Jamaica, Cuba, Guatemala, Panama and Argentina.
Regarding, developed countries, US women are slightly more likely to marry partners from Western Europe and Canada, while US men are more likely marry partners from East Asia.
Anyways, are there any surprises by the study's results? Or did it confirm something’s you already suspected?

2024.05.21 21:49 I_-AM-ARNAV MCB(Breaker) keeps tripping

Context: we use 2 air conditioners. We have been using 2 ac's for like 10 years but yeah the breaker is tripping everyday from past 3 days. once we turn on both AC. I checked amperes and voltage on both of them. They draw 14 amps in the starting so they must be consuming about 3000 watts each because I live in India where we get 220 volts. They both have a stabilizer attached to them. Both output 230 volts. They both are connected to one 32 amperes MCB. I checked and found one burnt wire there, replaced it with one suitable for 32 amps and voltage too. But the problem stil exists. Wiring is like 3 MCB connected together to one main 2.pole, 32 amps MCb. I called in my ac guy and he said both ac's are okay. Any idea what to do next? I'm thinking to replace the MCB with a 40 amps MCB. Also one last thing- the MCB only trips once and for the entire night is okay.
Will be calling electricity guy, but what are your suggestions?

2024.05.21 20:44 Indian_Engineer2 Jio AirFiber Pro Review

So I switched to jio airfibre 100mbps plan a few weeks ago. I previously used 125mbps local optical fibre Alliance broadband. Local fibre was choking peering data transfer and I wanted to try out 5G a new technology.
First thing I noticed about airFibre is how bad is the loaded latency in comparison to optical. Sites and streaming videos all took a while to load. Loading wasn't even a thing in most cases in optical fibre.
While ookla speedtest shows 100/70 mbps, normal downloads would range about 32-40mbps. Optical game me full 125mbps for jormal downloads.
Peering speed during day time is 72mbps but drops unevenly based on tower load but is not throttled by jio. Alliance broadband was limiting peering at around 16mbps😓.
About free TV experience 🤷‍♂. Lets see. What a scam. Live TV is NOT working. Yes 80% chance ott apps may provide live shows with some delay but on certain shows my mom said its showing episodes from a year back, in Start Jalsha channel which is streamed from Hotsart app🤷‍♂
Then comes the main issue. After the evening time, when all people return home in an residential area and the tower load increases, boom welcome to 3G.
I would definitely like to cancel the connection now and want a partial refund from the Rs7500. I don't know whom to approach. Any comments or questions is appreciated.
Oh another thing, many sites which are not in very public use are simply dns blocked by jio. Also deep packet inspection is turned on all in the name of security but it's just a means to reduce bandwidth usage. Many file sharing and downloading websites r blocked that r not blocked by govt of india but on the whims of jio company

2024.05.21 20:43 Ok_Singer_6821 Call for Vedant’s arrest

Shouldn’t we be calling for an arrest/detention of Vedant, the main culprit behind the killing of two fellow citizens? It seems to me that his father is figuring out ways to remove Vedant from the picture somehow. If he’s allowed himself to be arrested, it’s very possible that Vedant has been flown out of India, and they’ll make it incredibly hard to find him.. I know that there are legal processes for extradition etc, and that he can’t miss court hearings, but my trust and faith in the law and it’s implementation is fading by the day. Thoughts?

2024.05.21 20:29 Future_Host_8023 The Philippines has a right to defend itself. I don't care about ASEAN or being a threat. Nukes are a deterrent. There are NO nuclear nations that have had DIRECT WAR with each other...only proxies.

There is no direct war with China and India, right? There is no Ukraine - Russia between the two countries. They can only afford to fight in unarmed skirmishes so the nukes as a deterrent are working. If Ukraine had nukes Russia wouldn't invade. There has never been a direct war between two nuclear nations only proxies. Nuclear weapons are a deterrent. Yes, I understand that as of this moment, we do not have the funds, facilities, maintenance, or governance to have a nuclear arms program but we should keep a plan for it in the future. We have been invaded 3 fucking times and you guys think China gives a shit about a UN CLOS they are in the UN Security Council they will veto anyone trying to get in their way. The only reason why China hasn't invaded Taiwan and the Philippines is because we have America - the most powerful army and the country with the largest NUCLEAR arsenal in the world on our side because of geopolitical interests. Our country obviously needs to fix the economy, and education system, and weed out corruption first before starting this program but we should put aside a budget and plan to implement it in the far future. Defense should be one of the country's main objectives. And please don't fucking Iraq as an example of why we shouldn't have nuclear weapons. First off, America has a defense treaty with us they cannot attack us, 2nd The war on Iraq was about military posturing it was never about WMD's, and there were none. Read the documents, Bush wanted to use Iraq as an example. I don't want China to invade us like Russia is doing to Ukraine. And no Israel supporters please I don't wanna hear any genocide supporters chime in you Mossad agents are traitors and read the Talmud.

2024.05.21 20:10 bataillean-gf any critical study/research done on rape scenario in india that isn't necessarily from a generic feminist lens?

i have been meaning to dwell down into this topic since a long time, and i really have thoughts and critic of my own regarding this and want to type down
rape as a crime in India has always been quoted in such a gendered manner like it's always been said that it's a crime against women or has always centred to the topic of women, which I think doesn't represent the main reason or more logical approach to why India has such heinous problem of rape
I do think that gender cannot be a dominant lens when it comes to rape, there is a lot of factor that can explain more of a reason why it is done more as a hate crime against certain communities, minorities, religion, or class, then just a person belonging to a female sex
Feminist in India are trying to dwell the attention towards the fact that rape is only crime done because of hatred against females. Women or perhaps anyone who comes off as feminine in such regard but I think its shallow, there are cases where a person is raped because of a certain community they belong, it's not a dominant factor that being a woman was the only reason they were raped. it was also because they were belonging to a community that is already hated widely in India. For example, Muslim and dalit women are more prone to such crime.
It doesn't throw the fact that females are surely more prone overall together of such crime despite of belonging to certain communities, but I think it is not done because of hatred, particularly of misogyny that most people tend to say it
I think misogyny as a culture is still an upper class thing specially in India
when we roam around the streets, see men who are such perverts or being creep towards women, I don't think so that they are doing it out of hate or misogyny. Apparently, they are not aware of such thing because they don't see women as a thing that should be hated or perhaps could be considered to such regard because they dont simply see women of any emotions or i could just say, they see women as nothing and emptiness. and it is very different from hatred because misogyny culture is more of a phenomena that is not done widely by poor men, you can see example of andrew tate and his whole influence, and whether you agree or not, his influence has targeted me from a particularly privilege class
India problem is perhaps in my senses are not just misogyny, and I think that seeing it as a gender crime only towards women cut down the fact that they are men who have been victims and perhaps women who have been predator
What I am trying to acknowledge, ensure directly is that the problem of rape is more linked with transgression, sexual trauma, taboo, poverty, Classism, communal hatred and perhaps lack of moral ethic
And while talking about this, one of the major issue is that that most rape or many rape are done by a family member and here I don't believe that this is done because misogyny, it is more dwell in a power Dynamic way it just that female is so sexualised despite that both male and female are sexual objects, but females are considered as sexually perverse
calling rape misogynistic crime against women and not misandry against men when its done to men is just a hypocritical approach
I think feminist scholar in India are not very good at presenting the issue of rape because they are fixated on the Idea that it is just a direct crime towards a person that comes out to be a female because it is simply hatred.
There is not a single type of rape in India. A rape done to a lower caste woman is different to rape done to an upper class woman, rape to men is different from rape to women and rape done by women is different from rape Done by men, Rape done by a family member is different from rape done by someone Strange, rape done by someone who has more power dynamic is different than rape done by someone who appears to be powerless. and of course, all of them are dramatic at the same level, despite being different when we sociologically think of it
There is a very need of a proper structural study that needs to be done on rape held in India that is focused on more psychological approaches like I mentioned before, but also keeping the political tension and economical roles rather than just gender roles

2024.05.21 18:28 Fantastic-Style-999 I'm fed up with my parents, What should I do now?

As the title suggests, I'm kinda fed up with my parents. They seriously need therapy.
I'll start with my mom. She's actually really selfish. Since childhood, I was never allowed to go out and play with other kids. She says that I am allergic to dust and that she'll have to clean my clothes which are full of dust. I ignored her and played out few times but eventually gave in. I got immersed in mobile and the internet. I was never let alone to go out and explore like my neighbour kids. They used to hang out the entire day and ride their bicycle across the neighbourhood and to town. She restricted me to ride the cycle within my house premises. Then she never allows or gives me privacy. She always intrudes me while I'm bathing, changing clothes etc. The main reason is she treats me like a child. She tells me to do this, do that, wear this dress. That's not a big issue as far as I'm concerned. But whenever I tell her Im going outside, she takes the clothes including my inner wear from the cupboard even though I tell her I can do it myself. I think she has some disorder that makes her think she will lose authority of the house and authority over me if I start being independent. She loves when I ask her for help. And she advices me for 10-15 mins if I do the same. She does not allow me to iron my own clothes, enter the kitchen and do the dishes, prepare tea or anything that makes me independent. When I was installing my PC in my room, she interfered and said that the PC should be installed in the hall because apparently the Internet cable will have to be longer. I still don't understand that. I think she does not want me to have privacy. She also doesn't like when I lock my doors. So basically she made me a useless, dependant, introvert kid. I have done several attempts during childhood to break away from her control. I even went out to play with kids for 1 week when I was 11 or 12 but apparently my brother got injured when another kid accidentally rode the bike over his leg which was a minor case. She held on to it and permanently banned me from going outside. Whenever guests come to the house, she gets out from the back of the house and talks and deals with them outside the house itself. She rarely let's guests in. She hates when I say I'm inviting a friend to the house. She reasons with me that "The house will have dust and dirt if he comes to the house". Also, whenever we come home, she forces me to scrub the legs hard for the dirt or something to come off and wash our legs with soap before entering the house. WTF logic is that? We are going to bath anyways so why do that? Because of that she installed a outdoor bathroom/shower which is a small cube like thing outside our house. Also, she doesn't allow me to shift table fans, tables or anything from one place to another. My dad once did so and she screamed and shouted and she slammed her head in the wall herself as if in a sign of protest(I felt really bad and ashamed that day). My room actually has an AC which I don't want to turn on during racing season but she stops me from turning on the fan during that time and forces me to sleep with AC on. She's saying that when fan turns on, there will be dust in the room. I'm really stuck now. I can't go out, can't move things in my own room, I can't invite friends, My relatives and cousins don't come to my home because my mother will not let them in. Whenever I see my relatives and cousins they ask me "Why are you not going out of the house or letting us into your house?". I don't have an answer and it destroys my self confidence. I told her a lot of times to see a doctor but she psychiatrist but she won't. Whenever I'm in school hostel, I feel like it is the real me. I joke around, have fun, talk a lot but when I'm at home, I feel like a different person. I don't feel comfortable laughing, joking or going outside. The main reason is her. My MOM. I still get nightmares thinking if my friend asks to come to my home. I get real anxiety if they come to my home. I fear that they might dislike my mom's outrageous behaviour. Also I fear they will dislike me because I do not go out of the house and be independent. I fear that they will know that I do not have friends outside my school Circle (which the main reason is my mom). She also occassionally swears at me. Calls me bad words and curses at my dad. My biggest dream now is to escape this hellhole of a home and live in some hostel or room.
Now my dad. He is the biggest gambler ever. Not literally but I'll explain. He was born in a poor farmer family but he did a diploma and started working in Dubai. He earned a good amount every month and he built our house. But he got his biggest opportunity in Oman where he was offered ₹1.25L/month salary + Free apartment + Free transport + Free food + Subsidised School for me. He took the offer and we moved there. But after 1 year, he did a dumb thing. He took a loan of ₹50L and started a hotel business without even having any business experience. He employed 10-15 people before the business even started. The business was a huge failure and he lost the money. Meanwhile his company also found this out and kicked him out. I studied 1 year there in a good school but had to leave because of him. He lost ₹50L + Our livelihood in Oman. We came back to India and he got another job in UAE paying ₹2L/month but quit that too because his boss was upset at him at work. Then he got another job in Kazakhstan paying ₹3L/month but quit that too because of his laziness. He always believed he is born to do business. He kept saying he will because a multi-millionare within a year. He kept quitting jobs and now he worked in India itself for ₹30k/month. He then started a milk business which failed and he lost ₹1L. Now he started another Tyre business which is now running at loss. He also has a habit of spending money aimlessly. He buys random expensive clothes, shoes, phones, TV, Expensive chairs etc. He lost all his money on all of these. He does not have a sense of fear over financial ruin. He is now telling me that he'll sell our inherited land and buy a Innova Crysta. I have no words.
The only way we still are not bankrupt is my mothers small rental unit that gives us ₹20-30k/month. There is a lot more to say about my relatives. But that's whole another lesson. Any advice on what I should do? I have done everything in my power to make them right.
(Sorry for rant. Didn't intend this to be so long)
TLDR : My parents are insufferable. What can I do to fix it?
(I just passed out of school, so moving out is not an option. I'm also repeating for JEE near my house)

2024.05.21 18:27 Fantastic-Style-999 I'm fed up with my parents

2024.05.21 17:15 xxaditixx My dysfunctional family might lead to suicide - update

Hey so guys first of all I wanna say that thank you all for all the amazing support I recieved I got so many comments and so many people also hmu in my dms . I cannot express how thankful I am and how much I appreciate it .
1: a lot of you suggested to get relatives involved and I think that is one of the things I overlooked when posting yesterday . Recently my uncles had forced my dad to make a proper resume and let them have it so they could send it to other people . I think I overlooked this and that is why many people suggested divorce but if by some miracle my dad actually changes then I would have my dream life. I don't ask for too much , just a stable life
  1. Alot of people told me that they could contribute so I have setup a gofundme on an app called milaap cuz gofundme dosent have india in its options . I know I have not attached my real name or the documents but the thing is that I don't want to make my identity public . I don't have the documents and the max I could do are mere emails . I haven't attached them but I guess I could if y'all ask. https://milaap.org/fundraisers/support-child-of-anynonymous/deeplink?deeplink_type=paytm
3: finally I have decided that I want to focus on my jee prep . I would like to invest an hour or two into the buisnesses you recommended but I want to make jee prep my main focus . Quick cash would not give me a stable life and I would end up a lot worse wasting these precious years . Seeing your comments gave me a positive outlook to life now . There are still good and supporting people left in this world . Any help from you all would be much appreciated. Suicide dosent cross my mind anymore because I know God thought of this path for me and eventually he will give me a way out of it

2024.05.21 16:24 vinz_reddit DL/LLM/Gaming Build Optimization

Hi everyone,
Been a shadow follower of this Sub for some time. Thank you to all who are able to help me or just take an interest.
PC Parts List https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LCkjVW Note: I already bought the NVIDIA 4080 FE as it was such a rarity to find it in the first place. Also, I have a 1TB Gen3 Crucial P3 SSD already for storage
Purpose: Hosting production LLMs / Deep Learning / Gaming Target Price: $2,000 ± 100
Wanted your help on the following
  1. Replacing parts with lower priced parts which won't compromise on the performance
  2. Any improvement suggestions people who have experience with LLMs and hosting
I am from India and the current setup is kind of pricey.
EDIT: Adding in some main consideration points for the august audience here
  1. z790m from Gigabyte - it has 12+2 VRM instead of 16+2 on the ATX - how much of an impact will that have? Any owner reviews as there are no reviews I found for this online. Its added due to low cost and Gigabyte branding
  2. z790 requirement - going for z790 only because I will be doing light overclock/undervolt and some memory/GPU overclocking - you can say the nerd in me wants to play and optimize - this will be my first system
  3. RAM - I think 64GB is probably required here (maybe more?) but open to cheaper if you think 6000 MT/s is overkill
  4. SSD Requirement - SSD added here will be the primary bootdrive - I already have one for storage and can get more later - MSI seemed to be a great write speed/$ so added that - Open to other brands and maybe 512GB
  5. Power Requirement - Power costs are high so will going for a 14700f on b760 be better - and will that impact my target purpose much - that would also be a little cheaper
  6. PSU - What will be the right wattage? Am I spending too much?
  7. Cabinet - Phanteks XT Pro Ultra - good bang for the buck and Tom's hardware recommends it but open to other cheaper options there too - has 3.2*2 front USB and 4 140mm fans included so wow

2024.05.21 15:55 Luck9599 Additions to future F1 games (*long post alert*)

Hello everyone
With F1 24 being announced and being copy and paste again (basically just an F1 23 DLC at this point), I thought I'd write this post to maybe, just maybe, help (in any way) the next future F1 games become more realistic, which I think should be the main goal of these games (and also to express my deep disapointment with how the series is going).
Before we begin: this is completely based on my opinion, you don't need to agree with me, specially because I know some stuff may be considered completely delusional, as EA would never implement these things. With that out of the way, it's light out and away we go.
Here are additions/ideas that would turn the F1 game into an incredible experience:
As you guys can see, all these additions would be more oriented towards realism. I addressed changes to career mode and MyTeam, since those are the only modes I really play, but I know that online modes are in need of some changes as well.
Please feel free to comment what you think as well :D

2024.05.21 15:15 vinz_reddit Needs Optimization for Price

EDIT: Adding in some main consideration points for the august audience here 1. z790m from Gigabyte - it has 12+2 VRM instead of 16+2 on the ATX - how much of an impact will that have? Any owner reviews as there are no reviews I found for this online. Its added due to low cost and Gigabyte branding 2. z790 requirement - going for z790 only because I will be doing light overclock/undervolt and some memory/GPU overclocking - you can say the nerd in me wants to play and optimize - this will be my first system 3. 2024.05.21 15:02 oooooooooooui Char dham 2024 experience

We are 10 family members who booked this trip through a tour agency. My dadi(grandmother) is 76 years old with operation in both legs and a 3 year cancer patient. Our tour started at 11th May, 2024. We did the char dham in proper sequence (Yamnoutri -Gangotri- Kedarnath -Badrinath). We had a proper itinerary and online bookings done by the agency.
First we had a hotel booking in Barkot. The hotel was okay. they are extremely possessive about their towels with a rule- 1 towel per room??? I'm with my dadi and aunty in one room. They probably have a laundry problem or something but every single hotel has this nonsense rule. Anyways, next day 5am we left for Yamnoutri. Got stuck in a 5km long jam(Yamnoutri is 35km away) Me and my dad decided to walk it out. We covered 20km by 3pm however it started raining and couldn't continue ahead. We stayed in a tapri for 4 hours until the rain cleared. Our family was still stuck in traffic and hadn't reached even close to us. Now it's 8pm. We were supposed to be done with Yamnoutri and go back to our Barkot hotel. We had to cancel our Barkot bookings(and the hotel manager put all the bags of our 10 people in 1 room messing up everyones luggage). We booked another hotel at Sayanchatti were our family members reached at 11pm. Police management was utterly trash. I think even they were surprised with the amount of overcrowding. Next day we finally reached Yamnoutri. About the trek- the pathway/trail is full of shit. And I mean literally full of horse-poop. There are 700-1000 horses. Even after getting a horse, we had to wait 40mins for parchi and additional 1 hour(while on our horse) because of horse-jam. Yes there is a traffic jam of horses ON THE TREK. We wanted to walk but seeing the people who did walk, I was glad we didn't. The path is almost 3 meter wide with pithu, doly/palki, horses and people walking simultaneously. People who walked got continuously hit by horses and had to dirty their shoes in horse poop. We reached the temple finally, did Pooja, etc and managed to return Barkot where we had to re-book for another night. Our itinerary was already messed up at this point and money was wasted thrice (previous booking unattended in Barkot, the new booking in Sayanchatti and rebooking in Barkot). There is more like the incredibly risky horse route, etc but that's inevitable. I'm gonna continue with Gangotri.
We reached Maneri after struggling in jams for 7+ hours. We also did Uttarkashi before that. Ok so here the police had stopped us at checkpost and said cars are going in batches and if they let us go the jam ahead would only get worse. Now our hotel was 5 minutes(3km) by car from the checkpost. I went walking 3km and reached the hotel and there was absolutely no traffic like we told the police. We even showed them on Google maps. Traffic jams are understandable, but not letting us go after talking to the hotel owner, seeing proof that we won't contribute to traffic, that was a bit triggering. From police side it was just plain dumb. The commisioner there would keep talking his egoistical nonsense, not listening to anyone. Finally the rest of my family reached the hotel. Same issue with towels, rubbish beds, never ending insects and super unclean bathrooms with no pressure in water(flush, jets, bath, basin). Anyways, next day 12am we left for Gangotri with zero sleep because we are already behind our bookings and trying to avoid wasting more money. Got stuck in jam till 6am. [Also another note here, we had 2 private cars and one of the drivers was sleeping drunk and almost hit me and my mom. He hit a tempo traveller and we told him go back to sleep.] Finally reached Gangotri at 5:30pm, did our Pooja and then got in line for Darshan. My dadi and I got into the senior citizen line because she is 76 years old and can barely stand/walk in lines. Tilll now in the trip I don't completely blame the police for what was going on. But here in Gangotri, if anyone is going I am warning you, the police is rubbish. They are rude, tired with the crowd and very harsh and worst of all lazy. When u reach the main statue to go darshan, it's continuous pushing and almost a stampede, you cannot carry a baby or a old person there, they are garanteed to get hurt and the police won't care AT ALL. If you are lucky u might get to see the main statue of Ganga Mata for more than 4 seconds. After that we got back to our hotel in Maneri.
Next day we left for our hotel booking (adjusted by our agency) in Phata-Mankheda. Don't forget to go to Guptkashi before entering Phata. Here too same issues like 1 towel per room, charging points at the most unreachable locations in the room, etc. But this was still better than Maneri. Next morning 3am we left for Sonprayag. There is a line for your registration approval which goes on till Sitapur (2km from Sonprayag). People will continuously try to break and enter the line and there is almost a stampede and lot of heated crowd. After registration, you can go join 1km line for government taxi(50rs per head) from Sonprayag to Gaurikund. Anyways, after reaching Gaurikund there is a 1km inclined gali then the horses start.Remember this part. So here we again had to take a horse even tho we wanted to trek because at this point we were on 3-4hrs sleep everyday and our mental was very weak. We paid 6000rs per horse because it wasn't morning and the horse owner GARANTEED us all of my family members will be together, there will be one person per horse and that he already has the parchi. 5 of us had taken the horses and others went walking, palki and pithu. This path was again same as Yamnoutri or even worse. More horse-poop than ever, the sweepers there won't care and sweep the trash on you if u r in their way and continue doing so. People working there are literally illustrate and 'gouthi'. The horse owner didn't fulfil his promise either. There was 1 man handling 3 horses. The horses were going anywhere, hitting our legs on railings, other yatris, other horses etc. They told us to get down and walk 50m every time they saw police which is when we understood they didn't make a parchi. When we reached the top they demanded for the full money which they very very very obviously did not deserve for all their lies. When we said take 28k because anyways 2 of their men didn't come. They said give 30k else don't give anything at all. This childish, greedy attitude of theirs was again very triggering. We are not beggars and they are not doing us any favours so we still paid them the full amount. We are on a spiritual journey but since everything is about money from tourism, our spirit kept getting crushed. We had to spend the night at Kedarnath and our agency had booked us a dormitory. I warn anyone booking a dormitory, just don't. 30 unclean, continuously used beds, in one non- ventilation suffocating room with 1 Indian style toilet whose latch doesn't work shared with strangers. And the worst part is it is 1000rs per bed. I wouldn't pay 20rs for this rubbish service. At this point my spirit completely broke and I fell sick. I hadn't eaten anything and didn't want to. Next day my dad and I went down through horse at government rate (2300/). Others came in pithu and trek. Now came the worst part. The overcrord at the narrow 500m gali which i told u to remember above. Oh my God. After 22km Trek you are treated with this 0 management wild crowd. I had to take care of my dadi and fam from getting hurt. After reaching Gaurikund, again another 1.5km line with no special preference for senior citizens. Here people bribed the police 500rs to break and enter the line(happened right in front of me and my phone had no battery) When you reach the taxi finally, everyone tries to enter together and the police are just standing mutes. They are done with this💀. Finally got into the taxi, reached Sonprayag. Had to walk till Sitapur. Got a private taxi from there who demanded unreasonable price. We got mad and told him 4000rs till phata-mankheda(20km) which he then agreed to. Our hotel had changed to the worst possible hell of a hotel ever. I don't even want to talk about it. It has scarred me how people go about their business with 0 standards. At this point we just wanted to go home but Badrinath is left 😭
Ngl Badrinath tour was decent. Our hotel was in Piplakoti. Decent hotel called River view hotel. Roads are good. Only 4 hour line in Badrinath with heated crowd and 5 second darshan. At this point we are used to this so it's ok💀. Police was actually working and managing. Only issue we faced was directions from main road to the mandir and back. At night it gets very confusing.
Now I'd like to add, i haven't taken any names of hotels(except river view) or my tour agency because I don't mean any disrespect.
Uttrakhand is a beautiful beaitiful and amazing place with sceneries and memories I will carry with me forever. The sceneries while going to every dham are different and unique in their own way. Even just traveling from one dham to another by road is an amazing experience(excluding the jams).
I have some opinions- 1. Management is almost non-existent. Meet any Yatri and they will tell you the same. 2. Police are corrupt and lazy. Some try actively but that's like 10% of them. 3. The problem with hotels is that they are all on lease. I'll explain. The owner gives a person say Rahul their hotel on lease and asks for a certain amount per year. Rahul gets paid after that certain amount exceeds. Hotel bookings for char dham 6 months are always full. Rahul will always get this money and hence sees no need to maintain this hotel. So that's that. 4. Uttrakhand runs only and only on tourism and it is obvious. So as an individual tourist, you DO NOT matter. They don't care, they get people continuously. If your booking is cancelled there is always someone else to take it. You cannot talk sense to anyone running any type of service there. 5. Yamnoutri, Gangotri and Kedarnath roads for reaching there are narrow. Government should ban big buses permanently and is the best move they can make. These buses are 80% of the reasons for jams. They are improving roads but it's been 75+ years since independence so idk what they are doing. 6. Government should NOT take registrations when they cannot afford them. 27 Lakh registrations is not a joke. 2.8Lakh people in 4 days is not a joke. No one can manage this amount of people. Have a limit. People are spending lakhs of rupees coming from all over India for this and 90% of it is a bad experience. 7. Don't open all char dham together. This year's main issue was all 4 temples opened at the same date, 10th May. People were already ready and started rushing from 7-8th May. 8. Corruption with the helicopter. Bookings started 4 months ago. Opened the site. Site hanged. After 40mins of reloading, site opened and all bookings were full. All done by agents and sold in black. 9. Roadside parkings along the way to the chat dham also contribute heavily to traffic jams.
Advice for Future Yatris- 1. Don't come in May. I had a compulsion so we had to. But everyone here says that the best months for char dham is September-October before Diwali. 2. If you do come in May, don't do online bookings. You need to be flexible with where you are gonna stay. 3. Carry a towel per person. Hotels are extremely possessive about their towels. 4. Leave early for every dham if you are committed to do all 4 of them. I've seen lot of people give up in jams. 5. Get warm clothes especially lot of socks and bring medicines, etc. Rain coats are ok but u need a poncho. Rain coats don't cover your bagpacks while trekking and even if they do, they will stretch and might tear. 6. Private cars/taxi yatri, spend a bit more and get a comfortable car. You will spend most of the time in your vehicle. Tempo travellers are extremely uncomfortable and avoid them. 7. Take cold water baths at colder places as warm water baths bring the blood vessels to skin level making it more sensitive later. You have to be mentally prepared before taking a cold water bath. 8. Weather changes like anything. Suncap and goggles are a must in day time. 9. If u get sick/stomach upset have black tea and biscuits. 10. Do private Pooja at Badrinath.
Good things- 1. The food is amazing. It's almost as good as homemade food. You can always tell the cook how you like your food. Do try the Vegetable Maggi at highecolder mountains. It's available everywhere. 2. Sceneries are amazing and don't forget to carry a proper camera. Phone tech these days is good too and will make photo-frame photos. 3. You will always find people to talk to. If you happen to find polite people, say the hotel cook or a homeguard or other yatris or anyone at all, you will have a good conversation. 4. The pandits are good and will only ask you to pay them if u want to for the Pooja. Always pay them. 5. No phone range. It's good so you live in the moment and can enjoy the amazing sceneries :)
I'm trying to be completely honest without involving any type of hate here and trying to paint a complete picture of what my journey was like. We had to go over budget(almost double) because we didn't know any of this even after research. Our tour agency didn't warn us about anything either. Only thing that matters is that you enter the holy grounds. You can expect amazing sceneries but not an amazing darshan in May. It's been a bittersweet journey and I am writing this while omw to home. I hope y'all find this helpful and plan accordingly only if you are going in May or peak season. Otherwise you might not face much issues in September. Thank you for reading.

2024.05.21 15:02 Alarmed-Albatross-32 RONN Offers Market Update on Current and Ongoing Events

RONN, Inc. (OTC PINK:RONN) announced today that the signing of our MOU for our recently announced equity investment, once finalized, will stimulate the various LOIs that we have announced and are still active. Mr. Ford, the company CEO, stated that a quick update on those expected initial main initiatives might be beneficial to our shareholders.
We first announced First Nations Canada in October 2023, which, once executed with our new expected funding, is expected to be worth potentially 500 million dollars. Quote: "Together, we plan to establish seven starter seed hydrogen hubs across the First Nations lands, complete with RONN Hydrogen Electric logistic trucks," stated Ronn Ford, CEO. "The seven-plus 50-million-dollar packages allow communities and businesses of all sizes to familiarize themselves with Hydrogen electricity's mobile and stationary applications." Mr. Ford continued that site locations are being evaluated "and we have now added a global development partner to the project. The Global Middle Mile Logistics Truck Market is projected to grow from USD 96.42 billion in 2022 to USD 169.75 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 7.32%."
Our HEV medium-duty trucks will go to Roush Engineering to complete our initial class 4-6 medium-duty delivery prototypes for several evaluation pilot projects and much-anticipated contract manufacturing. We do have several pilot programs in the queue, including our own with First Nations and Barbados, and others too early to announce in Nairobi, Germany, India, and Canada.
The engineering and feasibility studies are complete. With the recent difficulties revealed concerning battery-powered trucks and automobiles, hydrogen electric vehicles have received a nice shot in the arm as the only viable alternative to the problem that plagues the battery market. Ronn Ford also stated that a critical success factor is the fact that delivery vehicles are mostly fleets, and the only infrastructure required are small hydrogen pumps located at the terminal facility to refuel the trucks upon return to the yard. Hydrogen EVs have a more extended range and can carry larger loads, and a hydrogen fill-up generally takes only 3-5 minutes.
Our recently announced LOI with the great group Hydrogen Horizons, whose offices are in the UK, has already resulted in several new potential partners and potential Hydrogen Truck pilot programs throughout. We are exploring a possible grant application between us, Hydrogen Horizons, and NYSERDA (the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority), as details emerge, we will update the market accordingly.

2024.05.21 14:50 AylinaBelle Mechanical licence for a cover song for worldwide distribution?

Hey there,
Right now I have my cover song on distrokid. I pay $12 per year for the cover license. I want to upload many more cover songs and that would get too pricey. Especially when you consider that since 2021 you only need a mechanical license for the digital downloads, and my song gets mainly streamed anyway. So I would like to get a mechanical license myself, for example with easy song for $12-20 once, and update it manually when the downloads exceeded.
I have to change the distributor now, because distrokid doesn't allow me to handle my own license. I wrote tunecore, cd baby, ditto and amuse.
Tunecore and cd baby tell me I only need one license from easy song or Harry Fox that cover the US. They said my song still gets distributed worldwide(also to Canada, Mexico, India..) and goes to all stores. Ditto and amuse however tell me I need to have a cover license for each country: USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, India and Pakistan.
I also asked Easy song and they told me to ask the distributor.
Could someone explain to me how it could be possible that CD Baby and tunecore only need a license from the US but can still distribute worldwide in all stores, or is here a misunderstanding?
