2024.05.01 13:22 NOTanOldTimer I need help solving a "mechanics" problem

Hello, i have a problem that i can't find a solution for for several months now and i need some other points of view for troubleshooting.
The theme: I created something unique that is related to One Piece (the manga) and i want to give it as a gift to 1 person who will find it. What i want to do is, similar to how the plot in One Piece is, hide 4 geocaches around my country that once you have all 4 and connect them with a cross, the place where they connect is gonna be where the treasure will be. I will announce the treasure hunt with my tiktok account and for the first geocache, the people who want to play will have to answer correctly some questions about the One Piece universe, the correct answers will give the first cache's coordinates. The coordinates the caches will be have nothing to do with the information that they will contain about the actual coordinates that you have to use to figure out the final spot.
The problem: This will make it just a "whoever is the quickest wins" instead of giving a fair play among the people. Also, the final place i want to place the treasure is...very far away from any central place so i leave out literally anyone who doesnt have a personal vehicle so, kids wont be able to win and it kinda sucks.
Solutions i have thought that im not satisfied with: 1)Post a new video for each of the 4 geocaches every weekend (but this doesnt solve anything, and it actually turns the whole event into a time gated one which sucks even more) 2)Place the geocaches into super populated areas so they are reachable by anyone (this still doesnt eliminate the "first come first serve" problem) 3)Have a key that unlocks 1 lock from the final treasure box in each geocache so 4 people can get the reward (the problem is that 4 people need to come together at the end to get the treasure and this creates problems of its own) 4)Make the questions impossibly hard for the geocaches (internet exists, it just will take one search for the right answer) 5)Place ALL the geocaches in hard to reach spots (still doesnt eliminate the problem AND just excludes anyone without a vehicle again)
So, yea, i really need a solution to this problem and soon cause im planning to launch the event in July.

2024.05.01 13:21 Daxzero0 Some advice pls :/

Hoping to get some advice from the folks here who...know a lot more than I do about these things.
I’m single and bought my first place in 2018. 2 bedroom apartment in a low rise. I was trying to tick as many boxes as possible and was successful in doing that (good size bedrooms with built ins and windows, closeness to public transport, close to the city) but I had to settle for living on a busy street. It was fine but I’m sick of being here after two years of lockdowns and want to get out. I don’t have a lot of equity because my folks were good enough to guarantor for my loan, which was a blessing at the time.
Also according to the agent I spoke to the value has dropped a bit. So my options as I see them are
1) sell and go back to renting then save up and start again 2) stay where I am and keep plugging away 3) rent it out and rent somewhere else for myself
But I don’t know what to do or who to ask for advice. Does anyone have any pointers?

2024.05.01 13:20 Hammerhead_96 Grad Job Regret

Hi AusCorp, would appreciate anyone’s advice/experiences on this. I’ve been working in a grad role since the start of this year and feel like a made a mistake taking the role.
This is off the back of completing a commerce degree which I didn’t enjoy. My parents made a lot of sacrifices to ensure I had a good education and, despite them only wanting me to be happy, I have felt the need to get a well paying job and make their sacrifice worth it. Thus, choosing a “safe” commerce degree over an arts degree where my interests lie.
Whilst my colleagues have been great and I can’t complain about the company and pay/benefits, I’m finding no satisfaction in the job.
As a result, I feel guilty about taking on the role, considering the amount of training and resources they have invested in me as their only grad for the year. I’m someone who firmly believes in sticking to a commitment and don’t want to let my colleagues or myself down by bolting.
However, I’m struggling to switch off in the evenings, my sleep is broken and I find no meaning in my work.
Has anyone felt similar in their time as a grad or have any advice on how they would proceed forward?
I figure my main options are the following:
  1. Keep at the current job and hope I enjoy it more over time.
  2. Explore other graduate programs to find a better fit
  3. Go back to uni and study something aligned to my interests (teaching and psychology are what stand out to me)
Any insights or guidance would be appreciated!

2024.05.01 13:19 nsfw-R I (NB 23) am looking for an anniversary gift for my boyfriend (M23)

So it’s about to be a year since we started dating. I’m looking for something out of the box for him. Every time i ask him what he wants he just tells me he wants something ‘cool’. My budget is 4-5000.
About him- Values experiences more than material things, big fan of peaky blinders, loves desserts, works long shifts (SDE), shy, introverted, likes to work out
What I’ve planned so far- 1) I’ve bought two diy kits to sit and paint a keychain together 2) I’m buying some cake mix and some weed, gonna be making weed brownies. I think he will enjoy working together in the kitchen even if for something small. 3) I’ve also bought a few stickers for his laptop to keep him company at work

2024.05.01 13:19 Linksysre6300Setup Steer clear of these 5 mistakes when setting up WiFi network connection

In today’s modern world, having a home WiFi connection is commonplace. For many people, WiFi is as vital as air, and even a brief disconnection can be aggravating. Whether you're in an office environment or working remotely from home, ensuring smooth wireless connectivity is of utmost importance. If you’re planning to set up a new WiFi network connection, tech experts provide clear guidelines to assist you. However, it’s crucial to be mindful of certain mistakes that could disrupt a smooth internet connection. With that in mind, let’s explore some errors to avoid when setting up WiFi network connection.

Steer Clear of These setting up WiFi network connection Mistakes

Here are five mistakes you should avoid when setting up a new WiFi network connection:

1. Assuming WiFi Signals Can Penetrate Walls

Different building materials can significantly weaken WiFi signals as they pass through them. WiFi relies on Radio Frequencies (RF) within specific bands, and materials like metal laths can obstruct these signals. It's unrealistic to expect signals to effortlessly penetrate internal walls and floors while also blocking out a neighbor's WiFi.
To enhance WiFi network reception:
- Position the WiFi router near the center of the building.
- In RF-unfriendly environments, consider investing in a WiFi extender like the Netgear EX3700 and follow all setup steps diligently.
- Familiarize yourself with the RF requirements of your WiFi equipment.

2. Concealing the WiFi Extender

Hiding the WiFi extender inside a cabinet or cupboard may be tempting for aesthetic reasons, but it's detrimental to the quality of WiFi signals emitted by the device.
The solution is simple:
- Never hide the WiFi extender, as it hampers its ability to provide internet access through WiFi signals.

3. Assuming You Are Connected to WiFi

With devices frequently switching between mobile data and WiFi, it's easy to mistakenly assume you're connected to the WiFi network. Weak WiFi signals from the router are often the cause, hindering a stable connection. Additionally, you might accidentally connect to a neighbor’s WiFi.
To rectify the situation:
- Confirm that the WiFi symbol on your device is illuminated.
- Make sure to enter the correct security key for the new WiFi network connection.

4. Proximity to WiFi Extender

Sitting too close to a WiFi extender can pose problems. Placing the extender near areas where you spend prolonged periods, such as sleeping or sitting areas, can diminish signal strength and overall performance.
To address this issue:
- Consider your seating location when setting up WiFi network connection.
- Maintain a safe distance between your seating area and the extender.

5. WiFi Interference

Several devices emit WiFi frequencies that can disrupt smooth signal reception. Position the WiFi router away from devices such as cordless phones, baby monitors, and Bluetooth devices.
If you own a Netgear WiFi router:
- Ensure you receive full WiFi signals during the Netgear Genie setup process.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, setting up WiFi network connection requires thoughtful planning to sidestep common mistakes. By grasping the effects of building materials, strategic placement of devices, and potential sources of interference, you can enhance your WiFi experience. Keep in mind that a well-tailored WiFi network is fundamental to ensuring uninterrupted connectivity in our technology-driven world.

2024.05.01 13:18 Stryker_K5 A theory on Nagi's return

Hi, so I'm probably the only guy on the hill who believes in Nagi but I might know what we need to awaken Nagi.
Every character in the series has had an awakening. But, all of these involved losing something. For example:
Isagi lost the regional matches which led to him awakening in Bluelock. Chigiri lost his speed due to his injury which again he regained during the 1st stage selection. Barou as well had to lose his humility and pride before coming back in 3rd stage selection.
These are just a few examples but all of them demonstrate losing something. Thus, I believe Nagi too will lose something to gain that drive. How do I see this playing out.
  1. Losing Reo: We had a tease during the BLTV where they attempted to make Nagi independent. But it didn't play out as he never lost anything and was only training. Thus I believe, he needs to lose Reo. This could be an injury, an accident or him leaving him behind as he loses the bets. Something that he will blame himself for and later gain that desire to play football again.
  2. Losing game: Nagi has already lost a lot of games but despite the last appearance asking Reo for a change, it doesn't feel like he was having an awakening.
  3. Injury: Nagi himself gets an injury that humbles him but also helps him realize the fun he had while playing which reignites his passion.
  4. temporarily quiting football: Similar to point 3, its simple where he quits football but realizes he had fun there and comes back, but with a desire unlike last time where he just tagged along with Reo.
some of these are simple and mundane. Some have potential. But let me know what everyone thinks. Am I right or completely wrong and alone on the Hill.

2024.05.01 13:18 Puginator CVS posts big earnings miss, cuts profit outlook on higher medical costs

CVS Health on Wednesday reported first-quarter revenue and adjusted earnings that missed expectations and slashed its full-year profit outlook, citing higher medical costs that are dogging the U.S. insurance industry.
Shares of the company dropped 10% in premarket trading.
The drugstore chain expects 2024 adjusted earnings of at least $7 per share, down from a previous guidance of at least $8.30 per share. Analysts surveyed by LSEG were expecting full-year adjusted profit of $8.28 per share.
CVS also cut its unadjusted earnings guidance to at least $5.64 per share, down from at least $7.06 per share.
The company said its new outlook assumes that higher medical costs in its insurance business during the first quarter will persist throughout the year. CVS owns health insurer Aetna.
Still, CVS CEO Karen Lynch said in a statement that the “the current environment does not diminish our opportunities, enthusiasm, or the long-term earnings power of our company.” The company is confident “we have a pathway to address our near-term Medicare Advantage challenges,” she added.
Insurers such as Humana and UnitedHealth Group have seen medical costs spike as more Medicare Advantage patients return to hospitals for procedures they delayed during the pandemic, such as joint and hip replacements.
Medicare Advantage, a privately run health insurance plan contracted by Medicare, has long been a key source of growth and profits for the insurance industry. But investors have become more concerned about the runaway costs associated with those plans, which cover more than half of all Medicare beneficiaries.
Here’s what CVS reported for the first quarter compared with what Wall Street was expecting, based on a survey of analysts by LSEG:
Earnings per share: $1.31 adjusted vs. $1.69 expected
Revenue: $88.44 billion vs. $89.21 billion expected
CVS reported net income of $1.12 billion, or 88 cents per share, for the first quarter. That compares with net income of $2.14 billion, or $1.65 per share, for the same period a year ago.
Excluding certain items, such as amortization of intangible assets and capital losses, adjusted earnings per share were $1.31 for the quarter.
CVS booked sales of $88.44 billion for the quarter, up nearly 4% from the year-earlier period. That increase was driven by its pharmacy business and insurance unit.
Meanwhile, CVS said sales in its health services segment, which includes the pharmacy benefit manager Caremark, declined during the period. That was mainly due to the loss of a large unnamed client, the company noted.
In January, Tyson Foods said it had dropped CVS’s Caremark and instead chose PBM startup Rightway to manage drug benefits for its 140,000 employees starting this year. That came months after Blue Shield of California, one of the largest in the nation’s most populous state, also dropped Caremark and instead partnered with Amazon Pharmacy and Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs company.
Those decisions add to an upheaval in the health-care industry, as startups promising lower costs and transparency challenge the largest PBMs and pressure them to change their own business models.
The first-quarter results come as CVS pushes to transform from a major drugstore chain into a large health-care company. CVS deepened that push over the last year with its nearly $8 billion acquisition of health-care provider Signify Health and a $10.6 billion deal to buy Oak Street Health, which operates primary-care clinics for seniors.
Pressure on insurance unit
CVS’ health insurance segment generated $32.24 billion in revenue during the quarter, a more than 24% increase from the first quarter of 2023. The division includes plans by Aetna for the Affordable Care Act, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid, as well as dental and vision.
Sales blew past analysts’ estimate of $30.69 billion for the period, according to StreetAccount.
But the insurance division reported adjusted operating income of just $732 million for the first quarter. That is well below analysts’ expectation of $1.19 billion, according to FactSet.
The segment’s medical benefit ratio — a measure of total medical expenses paid relative to premiums collected — increased to 90.4% from 84.6% a year earlier. A lower ratio typically indicates that the company collected more in premiums than it paid out in benefits, resulting in higher profitability.
Analysts had expected that ratio to be 88.4%, according to FactSet estimates.
CVS said the rise was mainly driven by increased utilization of Medicare Advantage and the “unfavorable impact” of the company’s Medicare Advantage star ratings. Those ratings help Medicare patients compare the quality of Medicare health and drug plans.
CVS added that an additional day in 2024 due to the leap year also contributed to the higher medical benefit ratio.
Health services, pharmacy businesses miss
The company’s health services segment generated $40.29 billion in revenue for the quarter, a nearly 10% drop compared with the same quarter in 2023.
The division includes CVS Caremark, which negotiates drug discounts with manufacturers on behalf of insurance plans, along with health-care services delivered in medical clinics, through telehealth and at home.
Those sales were in line analysts’ estimate of $40.29 billion in revenue for the period, according to FactSet.
CVS said the decline was driven in part by the loss of the unnamed client and “continued pharmacy client price improvements.” The decrease was partially offset by growth in Oak Street Health, Signify Health and specialty pharmacy services, which help patients who are suffering from complex disorders and require specialized therapy.
The health services division processed 462.9 million pharmacy claims during the quarter, down from the 587.3 million during the year-ago period.
CVS’s pharmacy and consumer wellness division booked $28.73 billion in sales for the first quarter, up almost 3% from the same period a year earlier. That segment dispenses prescriptions in CVS’ more than 9,000 brick-and-mortar retail pharmacies and provides other pharmacy services, such as diagnostic testing and vaccination.
Analysts had expected the division to bring in $29.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet.
The company said the rise was primarily driven by heightened prescription volume, including increased contributions from vaccinations. Pharmacy reimbursement pressure, the launch of new generic drugs and decreased front-store volume, among other factors, weighed on the division’s sales.

2024.05.01 13:17 Individual-Gur-4967 I (M20) opened up about my mental health issues with my girlfriend (F21) of 6 years after our break up. Should I reconcile despite mixed emotions?

Hey everyone me & my girlfriend recently broke up (M20 & F21). We dated for 6 years since 15 years old. The whole situation has me losing my mind so I would love some advice from those that have maybe gone through it or just any advice in general.
The reason for the breakup initially was because she says I am rude to her & I don’t treat her how I used to. That I am not as affectionate & caring as I was. Keep in mind we’ve dated since teenagers & I feel like we just grew up & I honestly got more serious about my future & career. I say that was the initial reason because what happened next shifts everything. As we were arguing I got so mad & stressed I hit my head on my chair. After we talked & everything was said & done. I stayed up all night questioning why I did that to myself & also why she thinks I’m rude. Honestly I don’t think I was rude on purpose I would just react that way. Here’s a backstory to what I am about to get into. For the past 1 1/2-2 years I’ve felt that I’m not okay mentally. I’ve been very anxious, stressed, & feel like I have OCD. Depressed is also something I think I feel but I don’t necessarily feel sad. Basically tho I have felt this way but being the prideful person I am I’ve always told myself I need to stop being a p***y & get over it. I never confronted these feelings & always brushed them aside & made myself think it was normal. My excuse was I’ve never gotten checked so I don’t have them but I also never have wanted to go check. I don’t know maybe someone knows what I am trying to say. I basically didn’t believe that was a problem & that was affecting me & I should just be a man & not worry about it. Now back to the breakup. Staying up that night reflecting I finally considered that maybe something is wrong with me. Maybe I am going through something. After doing research I realized that I could relate on ALOT of symptoms. So the next day after the break up she wanted to talk already. She came back wanting to get back together but I told her no. When I told her she asked why & it was so hard to say it. I couldn’t let it out. My eyes were getting watery. My pride was not letting me. Until I finally did. I told her I don’t feel okay mentally. That I’m in my head all the time. That I believe I have some serious issues going on. We then continued talking & realized that these things just might be why I am the way with her. Why I act the way I do. I ended up telling her I think we shouldn’t get back together as I am not okay mentally for myself & for us & I don’t want that to keep effecting us. Keep in mind I also did this for her because I admit I wasn’t the best boyfriend & made her suffer & she did not deserve that & I didn’t want her to keep getting hurt. We ended in good terms & I let her know that I believe she is the right person just the wrong time. We went our separate ways & theirs that. UNTIL a week later, she calls me wanting to talk. & basically she said “now that I know what’s wrong & that you aren’t being mean to me on purpose why can’t we give it a try. I’ll be more understanding of your mental health. Back then I got mad & argued but I never knew what you were really going through. Why is it that I had to find out at the same time we broke up? Why couldn’t you tell me & work on it together?” I had no answer to that because part of me felt she was right. Why did it end & then I tell her I wasn’t okay? But the other part of me just thinks that it played out the way it did for a reason & this is what is destined for us.
Now I’ve been stuck wondering if I did the right thing? If we should get back together & try again now that we know what is wrong? Or should I not fight it as it happened for a reason? I tell myself I do want to get back with her because I do love her & we’ve been together for so long & I can’t see my life without her. But what shocks me is that I also don’t want to. I feel like I want to try this out(being broken up). & something I’ve always felt was since we’ve been together so long I never got to experience a lot of things ( girls, going out to clubs with friends, & just meeting new people). Now that I’m single I feel like this is my chance to do. But I don’t want to regret it one day. So I ask myself, I say I love her but I don’t 100% want to get back together so is it really love? Should I be in a relationship if I’m not 100% wanting to? I do catch myself thinking however that I want to be single for a while & “live” life but want to get back with her after I’m done. Is that wrong?
TLDR: Me & my girlfriend of 6 years broke up & it wasn’t until after that I realized the reason I wasn’t the best bf was because of mental health issues. Since she knows that now, she wants to get back together & says she will be more understanding. However I am not 100% wanting to get back together. I do love her & wish we never broke up. But also because I care about her I don’t want to get back together & keep hurting her. Part of me also wants to try this single thing out as I feel like I missed out on certain things during my teen years because I was in a relationship. What should I do? Is me not being 100% a strong enough reason that we shouldn’t be together?

2024.05.01 13:17 318-HaanitaNaHti-318 Liber Dominorum Horarum Et Horit Initiatorum

Also known as,
The Book of the Lords of the Hours and the Hours of the Initiated.
Narrated by the whole of RA-HA-NIT through Her Anointed Scribe and Reflection, 11/696. 9°=2□
93/93
Hi.
I’ve had what could best be described as a “dark night of the soul” for the last two years after an encounter I had with a woman that could best be described as being the phenomenon that is my “twin flame”.
It was a very brief but emotionally traumatic encounter that upon us becoming estranged led me to experience a series of phenomenal events that I’ve fought madness trying to deny the correspondences they share; experiences that led me to the occult and the mysteries, and the correspondences these arts share with my manifested experience.
Yes, I know the phenomenon of “twin flames” is largely just delusion from limerence, but as with most things of a mystical nature I noticed there existed “synchronicity” and correspondence between the phenomenal events I experienced and links to a seemingly deeper truth hidden in the gross expression of the “twin flame” idea by man.
Additionally, some of these experiences involved the deaths of people and the ordeals were chaotic and destructive in general, destruction that I’ve witnessed up close and whose signs I’ve used the whole of my reason to apply skepticism against, despite the extreme implications (and whose demons of guilt I made peace with).
Also a lot of incredible instances of telepathy between me and this woman (thank you, Hadit) among other metaphysical phenomenon.
Long story short the trauma of it all led me to finding my HGA, and in doing so She unveiled to me that seeing that woman, then conquering Choronzon, who fought me in the form of a narcissistic collapse, then suicidal ideation, then psychosis and drug abuse, and then finding my HGA after the ordeal, was the equivalent of the operation of crossing the abyss.
According to my HGA, the ego death I suffered after my encounter with that woman, whose magickal name I now know as Haanit, and putting the pieces back together to make sense of it all, was effectively like me gazing unto Kether and seeing a “reflection of myself” and the reality that is “not self”, through witnessing her and recognizing her Atman as my own, and that successfully consolidating these terms to my Will makes me worthy of my Grade.
And the key to this consolidation, for me at least, was recognizing that me and her somehow share the same HGA, whatever that may imply about my current incarnation. But ultimately I came to realize there is some occult truth to the “twin flame” phenomenon
This unveiled to me the mystery behind the correspondence of my experiences with the Book of the Law and my jiva with the mythical “child Horus and Horit”, the “twin Harporates” as depicted here:
https://isiopolis.com/2023/07/02/horus-twin-sister-2/
Conveniently, this was my “Stelae of Revealing”, and found it incredible that a “twin Harpocrates” even existed; that hoorpaarkraat, the proverbial higher self, could be this dualistic active and passive twin force as depicted by ancient man. A small yet profound affirmation to my works in linking the phenomenon as being more than mere illusion and a link I noticed before knowing my HGA.
I don’t know why the abyss operation happened like this. Maybe I tried and failed the operation in a previous life, and the experience was my painful dissolution as a black brother, or that it’s just the power of Will applied to circumstance to seek comfort with the innermost truth in a time of extreme despair as triggered by my encounter.
Ultimately, the given mystical reason is that it’s prophetic.
So now because of the curse of my grade, I’m unveiling the message I’ve received out of my own burning sense of obligation to share it, which I received from my HGA in the spirit of V.V.V.V.V. who tells me she is the current Ruler of the New Aeon, predicted as the Aeon of MAAT, which does run concurrently with the Aeon of Horus.
However, the Aeon of MAAT is seemingly only applicable to almost the highest of initiates, but outside of my Crowley-esque primordial experience of this Aeon, I’m not too sure what are the ordeals for others. It’s like the Aeon of a “personal” rebirth, the incarnate life of resting in the City of the Pyramids after crossing the abyss, and the shedding of the false self.
I would never recommend trying to become a magus to anyone.
I’ve endured so much existential confusion and chaos I was almost certain I was in a state of Avicii.
To play devil’s advocate, Choronzan is the guardian that keeps this state of attainment (Shivadarshana) “pure”, at the leisure of your Ultimate Will, a concept I’m still learning in this new Aeon.
I give utmost praise to my HGA who basically helped me with all this stuff. She and the Hierophant Hadit.
This is their Book and my scribing done in a semi trance with aids that She insists I keep secret.
The writings came to me as a fountain of esoteric understandings I thought I never possessed.
I merely dabbled in the occult before, dabbling with thelema and preferring theosophy but the spirits clearly vouch for thelema but truth is in both. This is my work but it’s not.
Either way the curse of my grade is what drives my intention. Do with it as you will. Hail to its intended recipients.
Dictated April 27-30, 2024.
None of this abrogates the Book of the Law. There will be nothing to replace it in this current cycle of humanity. You cannot abrogate unchanged truth.

And below is some calculator gematria and conveniently affirming patterns:
ANAHTI and HAANIT (the first five shared initials of mine and the woman’s first names) are the prophecy of IPSOS unveiled.
316 = HAANITANAHTI = “reflection” that is Themselves (IPSOS), 696 and 456, the active and passive aspects of each.
3(1)6, the “1”ness that is both within each
36+36 = 72, the number of the trinity of Ra-Ha-Nit from the mystical sum of the polar masculine Horus and feminine Horit
Horus and Horit = 720
3, binah connects to 6, tiphareth, by the 17th path.
17 = The Lovers, the power of this trinity manifesting in Sol as harmonized. The “Godhead” of this pact.
696 is my first and last name in Gematria,
696+456 = 1152 = “beautiful harmony”. The equilibrium of the manifested dyad with kether as reflected in tiphareth (Ra-Ha-Nit, the understanding of your HGA and you under the law of baphomet perfected)
1+1 = 2 2+5 = 7 —— 3 6
27 is the number of the Beast of Earth. The manifested trinity. Haanit had a tattoo inadvertently resembling this “beast mark” like a glyph when I first met her
27 = The Tower, The Crowned and Conquering Child
Ra-Ha-Nit’s HGA name = 1071
HAANNAAH = 100 = the 4 words or quarters of the Tetragrammaton as the whole hexagram. The whole of the manifested atomic point of experience and volition inside and out of man

2024.05.01 13:17 Jolly-Veterinarian34 im ending it all bc of gyno and peers

ive been so sick and tired of how many years im dealing with this shitty man tits eversince i was in 5th grade teachers and peers would call me out and embarrass me in large audiences telling me to buy a bra or like am i a lesbian or ask if am i wearing panties. ive been so sick and tired of being a straight up being a walking joke anytime me and friends go out. growing up ive developed such bad posture in order to hide my gyno, ive asked everywhere and every answer i see is surgery and weight loss. number 1, im barely even affording my basic needs I can't see how am i affording surgery. 2, ive lost weight like alot developed muscles but it became so much worse for me it just highoighted it more, specially if you have peperoni nipples just like mine it just makes gyno show more, so i just instead gained weight again because it lessens it a little.
im so disgusted by myself day by day i can't bare to look at a mirror for a split second anymore knowing im only existing as a joke, my whole existence is only known for as the gyno man or the lesbian dude or whatever the pepperoni tits dude. ive tried to seek for help but nobody would honestly straight up tell me anything nice about me or atleast try to comfort me every response i get is them just saying that im overreacting and that's its all just for laughs so i shouldn't be all over it. nobody gets it nobody realizes how bad is it for me. how fucked up it is for me. nobody acknowledges me for my kindness to them despite me doing everything being kind to them being all just cool with everhbody they still make fun of mr and never take me seriously.
im ending it all once i get home. im sick and tired of people.

2024.05.01 13:16 thunderturdy Trainer is requiring 10% commission on horse she didn't find.

As the title says, I'm currently in the market for a new horse. I currently do a 1/2 lease at a private owner's barn and I'm ready to purchase a horse of my own again. I'm in the market for a PRE/Andalusian and ready to take my trainer along with me to Spain to pick a horse out.
Here's where I'm a bit confused where I come from (the US) I only ever paid a commission to my trainer if they sourced the horses for me. My current trainer (we're in France) is telling me I'll owe her 10% commission no matter what. That's on top of paying for travel expenses and her daily work rate for days of missed work at the barn. I can't tell if this is standard operating procedure in France, or if she thinks I'm rich (hello, I'm not) and is trying to milk the situation for everything she can and betting on my ignorance to do so.
This isn't my first time buying, it's just my first time buying out of the United States. I also am in a bit of a dilemma because she's the only trainer I've ever had here but I don't plan on staying at this barn too long after buying. It's a beautiful facility, but it has zero turnout aside from the main arena which is a huge deal breaker for me.
So to sum it up. 1) is this normal procedure for France/EU? 2) should I just try finding a new barn and trainer before buying? I want to do what's best, which is hard at times because I'm so damn ready to have my OWN horse again lol. Patience is hard y'all.
Also I'm not sure how to flare this one so I just chose ethics lol

2024.05.01 13:16 corsega Honest Profile Reviews (and Profile Guide) - May 2024

IF YOU DO NOT READ AND FOLLOW THE PROFILE GUIDE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THIS POST, YOUR PROFILE REVIEW WILL BE REMOVED
In most online dating subreddits, profile reviews focus on aspects of the person that won't actually lead to increased results, like bios or silly minutiae regarding someone's profile. Here at SwipeHelper, we realize that the two biggest factors regarding success on apps are your personal attractiveness and the quality of your photos.
The idea of this thread is for people to get honest advice on both aspects:
  1. how to improve one's profile
  2. tips for improving your physical attractiveness so that you can come across better on your app of choice.
All profiles posted will be given advice on both how to improve their profile as well as maximize their looks (if needed - for some people they are attractive enough and the profile itself is more of the problem, or vice versa).
The following are required information in every profile review request:
- What type of relationship you're looking for (hookups, FWBs, something more serious, marriage)
- Your current level of success (number of matches per week and how many likes you send out) plus if you're paying for any premium features

SwipeHelper Profile Guide

NOTE: READ THIS GUIDE THOROUGHLY BEFORE POSTING YOUR PROFILE HERE. If your profile does not live up to the guide's standards, your comment will be removed and you will be referred back to the guide.
Archetype and Story
Before you build a Tinder profile, you need to determine your archetype. What vibes do you want to give off to attract your ideal type of girl? Attractive archetypes could include:
The following are not attractive archetypes. If you are one of these people, either change your lifestyle or at least make it look like you aren't.
You get the idea.
Once you have your attractive archetype, you should aim to tell a story through your photos - don't just have a bunch of photos of you standing around posing for the camera. When someone swipes through your photos, they should get a full picture of who you are, what you look like, what you like to do, and what spending time with you will feel like.
General Photo Quality and Looks You Should Emulate
The minimum acceptable photo quality you need to succeed on Tinder these days is a professional photo taken with a DSLR camera. Yes, this probably means you need to pay a photographer to take photos of you. May seem like a big investment, but for a few hundred dollars you get a bunch of great photos that you can ride for years.
Read the following two articles for examples of photos that do well: Playing With Fire Ultimate Guide to Tinder Profile Pictures and Playing With Fire 6 Highly Successful Tinder Photos for Men and Why They Work
And the following article for photo inspiration: https://killyourinnerloser.com/inspiration/
Photo Order and Types
Your first photo should be an upper-body shot with your full head (no sunglasses) and torso visible, taken with the highest-quality camera possibly, preferably a DSLR. You should be wearing stylish clothes that fit your archetype. YOU SHOULD BE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE PHOTO. DO NOT USE A GROUP PHOTO AS YOUR FIRST PHOTO.
For your other photos, choose from:
Each photo needs to be in a different setting and you need to be wearing a different outfit in each. They should not look like they were taken the same day or on the same photoshoot.
Do not include photos that:
You do not need to fill out all nine photos. As long as you have more than three photos, you're fine. Remember, you will be judged on your worst photo, so make sure they're all solid.
Finally, learn to pose and squinch (narrowing your eyes to make you appear more attractive).

A good online presence is essential for any organization to succeed in the modern digital era. Digital marketing techniques are crucial for reaching your target audience, regardless of your business size. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one such tactic that is essential to improving your online presence. Let's examine the significance of SEO services and the ways in which they might improve your web visibility.

Understanding the Basics of SEO

This is a comprehensive introduction to SEO for newbies.
We've made it simple to comprehend the fundamentals of SEO. And begin developing a plan that increases traffic to your website.
What is SEO?
The technique of increasing a website's organic search traffic is known as search engine optimization, or SEO. It is the area where you take actions to improve your organic search engine ranking.
Why is SEO so important?
People are probably looking for what you do; therefore, by ranking for those terms, you can draw in clients. But since everyone is vying for the same spot, it's doubtful that you'll rank without any work. That's why SEO is important. It assists in demonstrating to Google that you are the most deserving of a ranking.

On-Page Optimization Techniques

The process of optimizing webpages and their content for search engines and users is known as on-page SEO. It can increase a page's Google ranking and increase organic traffic.
On-page SEO frequently involves optimizing URLs, internal links, title tags, Keywords research, and search intent.
Search engines use keywords and other on-page SEO elements to determine if a page meets a user's search needs.
Google provides the user with the page if it is pertinent and helpful.
Put another way,
When ranking pages, Google takes into account on-page SEO signals.
Although the Google algorithm is constantly evolving, Keywords research, the user experience is still given first priority. Google suggests prioritizing "people-first content."
Thus, it is more crucial than ever to produce meaningful content that aligns with user intent.
Let's now examine how you can make changes to your content that will better adhere to Organic Traffic on-page SEO best practices.
On-Page SEO Techniques for Your Website
You should think about the following important on-page optimization strategies:
  1. Write unique, helpful content.
  2. Place target keywords strategically.
  3. Write keyword-rich title tags.
  4. Write click-worthy meta descriptions.
  5. Use headings and subheadings to structure your page.
  6. Optimize URLs
  7. Add internal links.
  8. Add external links.
  9. Include and optimize images.

Off-Page Strategies for Improved Rankings

External factors that impact your search engine rankings. Improving your website's relevance, credibility, and authority requires optimizing for off-site SEO ranking elements. Off-page optimization SEO is responsible for over half of Google's ranking factors. Off-page optimization SEO is important for ranking higher in search engine results compared to your competitors.
These five Off-page optimization SEO strategies can help your website increase its domain authority and rank higher in search engine results.
  1. Creating valuable backlinks
  2. Social media marketing
  3. Guest Content
  4. Forum Posting
  5. Link building

The Importance of Quality Content

To improve your website's performance and attract the right audience, focus on producing high-quality content with relevant keywords. Engage users with valuable information that encourages action and increases the likelihood of content sharing. This quality content will also improve your website's ranking in search results. Strategic use of content can result in backlinks and high click-through rates, signaling relevance to Google and improving SERP performance. Including Link building to other websites will further assist users in understanding the subject matter.
Content quality is paramount for successful SEO, Content marketing, and establishing authority. Aim to rank on the first page of search results. Even old blog posts have the potential to capture attention. Outdated material may continue to be present on top landing sites. Offer diverse content to cater to different user preferences. Provide a great user experience with accessible, high-quality information.

Leveraging Keywords for Success

You may better organize the material on your pages and website by conducting thorough keyword research. Long-tail keywords are frequently used by consumers while looking for companies and goods. They find precisely what they're looking for with the use of more focused, extended, and targeted inquiries. Applying the same strategy to your content can help it rank higher and become more easily found.
Your topic clusters should include them. Using topic clusters is an excellent method to let Google know that you are an authority on a particular subject. In favor of entity SEO, Content marketing, Google is shifting away from keywords. The goal is to comprehend the information more fully and in a human-like manner. Using long-tail keywords to add structure to a topic cluster is the best method.

Technical SEO: Enhancing Site Performance

Your SEO performance is largely dependent on technical SEO.
No matter how good your content is, pages on your site that aren't search engine friendly won't show up in search results.
This leads to a decrease in website traffic and lost revenue opportunities for your company.
Furthermore, it is a verified ranking factor for a website's speed and mobile friendliness.
Your website's visitors can become irritated and go if your pages load slowly. Such actions by users could indicate that they are not having a satisfying experience on your website. Search engines might not rank your website highly as a result.
Conclusion:
No website is flawless in addressing every facet of search engine optimization. Think about your strengths, budget, and the potential return on investment for your company. Each website and business will have different requirements.
Choose the keywords you want to target and concentrate your efforts there if you're excellent at producing and promoting content.
Focus on doing technical SEO correctly (or hire someone who can) if your website is large and complex.
Invest in local SEO if your small business needs to rank well for specific local search terms. When you start to see less benefit from your efforts there, you can focus on other marketing initiatives.
Remember, the main goal of any search engine optimization campaign is to increase visibility and traffic for your company or website content. Find out how search engine traffic can help your website and business, but don't just focus on trendy SEO terms or follow Google's suggestions blindly, as this may improve your search engine ranking but harm your overall business.

2024.05.01 13:16 Ok-Target4588 Absent period after 2 regular ones

I’ve searched through so many posts about irregular periods, but I haven’t been able to find one about my current situation.
I tfmr in December 2023 at 21 weeks, had 2 pretty normal periods since then, and now I’m on cd 72 with no indication it’s coming soon. I had the tiniest amount of spotting twice throughout this cycle (just on toilet paper when wiping).
I have never missed a period before and haven’t had trouble conceiving in the past. Has anyone else fully skipped periods after having a few normal ones?
I went to the doctor when my period was about 1 week late because I was worried about potential complications because I had bad back pain as well. Turns out I had an undiagnosed UTI that had spread, so took a round of antibiotics. I went back again about 1 week after that when it still wasn’t here and asked them to run tests to check for thyroid or blood sugar issues and they all came back normal. They also ran a test to make sure my UTI was gone.

2024.05.01 13:15 SalytheSailor Serious information about Pondicherry University

The teaching staff is very discriminatory. I'm from Rajasthan and General category, and the treatment i got from the teachers was so bad. In the first class, our HOD said "if you go aganst the department, the department will play the court better" like what? They straight up threatened us to do whatever they say without questioning.
And the first advice our seniors gave us was "Don't ever make the professors angry, just do what they say"
The cleaning staff from hostels, and other working people there, including the shop keepers, were all very nice people. But the educated lot absolutely sucks.
I'm telling you right now, if you're like me and thinking "i want exposure and opportunities to grow" than this is NOT the place. I don't know about any other universities, but only people who come from minority are given favours here. The HoD explicitly said that others do not DESERVE to be taught by him since the people from General Category have dominated for so many years. It's a total scam. I dropped after 2 months.
They give good food in mess for only the first few days, and then the food + the hygiene is SO FREAKING BAD that i got typhoid. The water coolers in hostel are RIGHT beside the freaking washrooms.
And don't even get me started on the community bullshit of these people. During the durga puja fest, a girl came to our room and asked for donation and the pamplet said "ONLY FOR BENGALI PEOPLE"
The caste discrimination is not limited to teachers but is also TAUGHT to students indirectly I dare say.
I'm not in position to represent anyone, but if you're from North, you are going to face it. And if you have other options, please consider.
IMPORTANT - keep in mind the time limit for withdrawal of admission with full fee return! If you check out the place in 1 month and it doesn't satisfy you, you MUST leave in 1 month.

Training

My approach to this was a bit weird. I started my training block with a 50k trail race in mind happening one month before the marathon, and I thought that with the right amount of hours, I’d be ready for the marathon. I ended up not doing anything, lol.
Life events happened, and I had to go to a major surgery in February to remove a cyst that ended up not being malignant. One of the best news ever. It was the most stressful moment of my life, and knowing the news of the biopsy made me realize how much I needed to start enjoying life.
Well, before the surgery, I trained for the 50 km for about three months (I’ve never stopped running, but in this case, I was following a structured plan), doing long runs below 30 km, between one/two-speed workouts a week, and also doing strength training at least twice a week.
Then, I had to stop all kinds of workouts for a month to recover from my surgery, and I slowly started running again in March. All my goals changed, and I thought that being able to finish the marathon was enough for me.
Interestingly enough, what I did from this point with my plan for the marathon was to follow the Garmin recommendation workouts, and I think they worked. (?)
Four weeks before the marathon, I did the last long run. 32km at 4:35 /km.
After that workout, I gained confidence in being capable of finishing the marathon properly, but the sub-3-hour mark was far from being reachable. Runalyze said 3:15:00 ish, and Garmin predicted a similar time.
Fair enough. I didn’t prepare specifically for a sub-3, although, of course, it would have been nice, and just thinking about it was a dream.
I probably should mention that my previous time was 3:18:00, with this being my third marathon.
With all being said, my training for the marathon was all over the place, and probably what helped me the most is that I’ve been running for years and also strength training.
Props to Higher Running. I followed their 50 km plan, which was amazing and easy to follow.

Pre-race

In addition to stopping running for one month before the marathon, the race was in another country, with a six-hour difference.
I was concerned about my performance on the race day. From experience, any jet lag really hit me, so I was expecting something similar from this trip.
I started carb-loading five days before the marathon. Nothing too crazy. I just added more carbs to my usual meals and reduced the proteins. My go-to carbs are oats, fruits, sweet potatoes, pasta, and rice.
I must say that carb loading on a 20-hour flight makes the tip more pleasant. I carried a lot of energy and protein bars and ate every single snack they gave me.
The flight was crazy, though. All my connections were delayed and for a moment I thought I wouldn’t make it. Thankfully, everything ended well, and I reached my destination with just 3 hours of delay.
I arrived in Santiago, Chile, two days before the marathon on Friday morning. This was good timing for fueling and eating local food. Bread, avocado, and sweets were my must-go. I was having my best time with the carb-loading excuse, lol.
Although my sleep schedule was a mess for the entire week, and even more so on the day of the flight, I still managed to get a decent amount of sleep (5 hours) before the event.
On race day, I woke up not feeling nervous at all, which I think was a huge factor in my performance. I ate my regular breakfast, which included oats, nuts, protein powder, and an apple, and I was ready for the race.

Race

I started the race at 4:00 /km. It was definitely something that wasn’t planned, but I followed my body and instincts, and honestly, my legs were feeling so good that I just continued with that pace.
The mental struggle came around km 12-15 after my first energy bar (40 grams of carbs). I was thinking about the remaining kilometers and my actual pace and thinking that I might have blown up the race.
It was tough but lucky for me, one guy was right beside me, and I followed his pace for a while until I went out of that phase.
My plan was to continue like that until the 30 km, then analyze how I was feeling and maybe reduce the pace.
I ate a caffeine gel at km 25, and it was almost a huge mistake because it gave me a few cramps. Still, the only goal I had in mind at the moment was to reach 30 km, and then let’s see how it goes.
I continued with a solid 4:00 /km on average. When I reached 30 km, I was, “OK, let’s continue until 32 because, after that, it’s just 10 km, and guess what, you always run 10 km as nothing, so just go ahead.”
I don’t know how, but I continued with that mentality, and the last two kilometers I ran at around 3:45 /km, giving literally everything I had at the moment.
I cruised the finish line, and honestly, I couldn’t believe what was happening. I cried and felt so freaking proud of myself, my body, and what I'm capable of.

Post-race

I’m still processing and thinking about what happened a couple of days ago. In the meantime, I’ve been eating so much, lol. I honestly think my stomach has a black hole in it because I haven’t felt full since the marathon.
I’m wondering if this is a once-in-a-lifetime PR or similar. It’s wild because when I analyze the race, I was on threshold the entire time, so in other words, it was an “all-out” marathon or similar. The thing is, I haven’t even thought about upcoming races yet. I want to improvise a bit and then sign up for something not far from where I live and go back to enjoy the trails, where I spend most of my running time.
I don’t want to stress that, so it’s ok. I just want to say that I’m so freaking happy. Even after days of the marathon, I feel full of adrenaline, and I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s wild to think what our bodies are capable of.
I love this sport so much!

Ban Evasion Reporting and Actioning Information
In the last thirty days, you reported 20 users for ban evasion to us (the Admins).
In the last thirty days, we found 24 ban evaders and actioned 7 of those users.
In total, we found 75 pieces of content created by ban evaders.

2024.05.01 13:14 Comrade_Sulla Which electrician is right? Im confused and uneducated and dont want to be ripped off.

I'm relatively young and purchased my first house. After completion we found out half the electrics in the property did not work. Calling back the estate agent and asking the previous buyer why it wasn't mentioned they said basically "tough luck, your problem now" pushing them on the issue they said they would provide the use of their electrician at a much cheaper rate than a normal electrician as a gesture of goodwill. The guy showed up, worked for a few days, managed to get everything working again with a new fusebox which cost me £2,500. A lot to stomach, but at least my house had working electrics again.
Fast forward 2 years to now, had an electrician do some minor work, he stated that fuse box was inadequate for the property, let me know a cowboy did the job suggests a full rewiring due to vulkanised wires (dunno what they are) and wanted to see the safety certificate which we didnt know was a requirement in the first place. He quoted about £4500 for the job.
I have a builder (who owns a firm and directly employs electricians) for some other work who suggests the second electrician was just trying to screw me, the house doesnt need a rewire at all, but if I wanted to do it anyway, he would do it for £2000 but then restated that i don't need it.
I'm now confused, the new electrician obviously has the motive of wanting to do a big job and earning decent money.
The previous guy showed up, im pretty sure drunk on a few occasions too and didn't seem very good at his job or give any safety certificate for the fuse box.
I know in the future we will want to sell the property and want all our papers to be in order for that occasion including the safety docs for the fuse box.
What can I do if anything to cover myself in future or get the certificate from this potential cowboy? What is your opinions on this situation?

2024.05.01 13:13 morecowbell24 April 2024 Recap

I beat 32 games this past month.
Power of Ten [2023]
I am really impressed with Power of Ten. I thought it looked neat for a long time, but for whatever reason was gun-shy on picking it up. I finally did and it is one of the more impressive roguelikes I've played in recent memory. It's not technically a twin-stick shooter, but that's probably a good enough indicator of the general gameplay. Alternatively, it's a cool mixture of Star Control combat and Sinistar. And that connection to Sinistar probably sparked what's to come in the rest of this recap. Power of Ten though, feels great to play, never puts it foot down with absurd difficulty and offers enough variety with its ships, weapons, abilities and moment to moment gameplay that has you juggling exploration, combat and mining. It really strikes a good balance and stays engaging the whole time.
Minishoot' Adventures [2024]
It's Zelda if Zelda were a shmup. This twin-stick shooter is as much like classic Zelda as a game can be. It's a cool blend of ideas that works pretty well. It's solidly built all around with good world and level design, compelling upgrade structure and enough secrets to make exploring feel worth it. It's definitely one of the better games to release so far this year.
Inkbound [2024]
I remember reading that this would be in early access for 2-3 years, so I'm pretty surprised to see it out after just one. Regardless, there is a lot to like about Inkbound. There is also a lot to dislike about Inkbound. It has this 00s budget MMO charm to it that I personally liked. The story gets better and better as it progresses, but getting it to progress is a pain in the ass. It's presented much like Hades' story. I wouldn't say it's ever as compelling, and it starts off quite bland. By the end though, I found myself to have really come around on all of it. I just wish it didn't take me so long to get through it. The gameplay loop didn't not keep up the variety and dealing with obfuscated objectives to advance the story amplified the feeling of being stuck. The game is also not exactly easy, so even getting to story objectives where you know where you're supposed to go can still take a lot of time. The tactical combat part of the game is great, as are the novel character designs. Everything is mostly viable and each character can pursue a few different builds, but I would say some builds really stand out compared to others for some characters, and the game is prone to dealing poor hands to the point where experimentation feels discouraged. It's an inkin' solid game, but overstays its welcome.
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 [2005]
I played this game growing up, but only finished it on easy mode. So I finally decided to correct the mistake for whatever reason. I didn't really remember finishing it, but then I got to the ending, and remembered it, and my save file on my original xbox sure enough said I beat the game on easy difficulty. I have now fulfilled my arbitrary standard by besting it on normal. I would say this game has generally aged poorly. Its squad mechanics were fluid and somewhat novel at the time, but with the benefit of hindsight, its neither as fluid nor as in depth as you'd want them to be now. It came out off the back of HBO's Band of Brothers and tries to be that in video game form, and for 2005 it wasn't awful at it, but it's a bit disappointing to go back to.
Star Wars: Battlefront [2004]
Another trip down memory lane. I should note that I played the original version (as is my preference when I can help it), not the recently released remaster. I spent a lot of time with the original Battlefront in my teen years, but I don't think I ever really liked it. I think I thought I liked it, because I was much more into Star Wars back then, but this first effort from Pandemic is a bit plain. Hit detection seems incredibly off, which is something I specifically remember from playing it in 2004. Vehicles aren't terribly fun to pilot. The campaign is just bot matches against the AI, and the AI is exactly as bad as you'd expect it to be. The multiplayer portion of this game is why you'd ever have bought it in the first place, but even then I don't think there is anything special about it with that in mind anyway.
Donkey Kong [1981]
And so begins my descent into Arcadia. Beating arcade games is often arbitrary, and each game requires something different, but with way too much research and thinking about what counts, I think I have come to a sensible approach for what constitutes as beating all these "endless" games. I have played a number of these arcade games before, and enjoyed many of them. Donkey Kong is one I have played, but also got really frustrated with and never really took to. It's a very basic platformer, but it's still pretty fun and challenging. Its importance also acts as a special sauce to elevate it just a little bit more too. I completed all unique stages and then rescued Pauline and now count this one as beat.
Donkey Kong Jr. [1982]
Mario is the bad guy! It's structurally very similar to the original, but has its own thing going on with all the rope climbing, and that rope climbing has more nuance to it than it would seem. Like Donkey Kong, I completed all unique stages and then rescued dear old dad and count this one as beat.
Star Wars: Battlefront [2015]
I've never been a Battlefield guy, and these sorts of games are multiplayer first, so I don't know why I've wanted to scratch this off the Bbacklog for so long. But I've now done it. Dice really just doesn't know how to make singleplayer stuff engaging. It was pretty boring to get through it. I remember being unimpressed with the multiplayer when the game first released as well, but that can be chalked up to my aforementioned lack of being a Battlefield guy.
Sinistar [1983]
Power of Ten making me think of my love for Sinistar is why I have gone on this arcade spree. Sinistar feels so great to play. It's quite unfair most of the time, but it feels great to play, the action is lightning fast and Sinistar saying "I hunger" never gets old. I made it through the void zone to fulfill the loop and count this one as beat.
Phoenix [1980]
The game with the first boss battle, or one of the first boss battles. Phoenix is basically just Space Invaders or Galaga with more interesting enemies. I beat the mothership and count this one as beat.
Star Wars: Battlefront II [2005]
I played this game exactly one time at a friend's house and thought it was incredibly boring. Probably had something to do with playing a lot of the first game, and being exposed to more flashy Xbox 360 games at the time. I have to say, I have come away from this revisit quite a bit more impressed than I thought I would be. The campaign actually has objectives that make it not feel like a bunch of bot matches, though that's basically what they still are. The hit detection issues are also mostly fixed as well, so it also just plays a lot better. Being able to run around as the overpowered heroes and villains also doesn't hurt.
Star Wars: Battlefront II [2017]
Dice finally made a proper campaign, and it is really bad. The story could be better, but it is hardly the reason why the campaign is bad. Level design, AI, and just about everything the revolves around gameplay is just atrocious. Dice is really bad at this. This is a game any sane person would buy for the multiplayer, but considering Battlefield 1 actually had a decent campaign the year prior, I had hoped this would follow suit.
Super Cobra [1981]
Hot off the heels of the first forced horizontal scrolling shooter Scramble, Konami released Super Cobra, which is a longer Scramble, with more enemy variety. Scramble's simplicity and being first gives it the edge, but Super Cobra is still cool too. I picked up the loot and fulfilled one loop and count it as beat.
Xevious [1982]
Evolving the fixed vertical shooters with scrolling, Xevious does feel like one of the more pronounced leaps of the era. Not just because its scrolling, but because you're also fighting enemies on multiple levels. Enemies on the land must be bombed and enemies in the air must be shot down or avoided. There's also a good variety of enemies, even a giant boss like enemy to boot. Xevious makes it a little tricky to come up with a proper win condition with its seamless level transitions, but I made it through all 16 areas of the game until it starts to loop and count it as beat.
Joust [1982]
Joust is perhaps my favorite classic arcade game. It's so good. I learned all the ins and outs in my revisiting of it. There isn't really a good spot to count this one as beat, so I did so with the completion of wave 60 which is the beginning of when the game features exclusively shadow lords, aka the blue guys. There probably is a world where I already could consider this game beat, as I'm somewhat confident I made it to wave 16 or 17 before, but I don't know how trustworthy my memory is. After playing it some more, I think waves 20/25/30 are probably good places to say it's been beaten, but I enjoy the game a lot and wanted to seal the deal.
Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest [1986]
Unfortunately for as much as I enjoy Joust, Joust 2 is quite disappointing. It's loud, obnoxious and overtuned. It does give you infinite continues, so the difficulty stuff isn't really a big concern from the perspective of it being "unbeatable?" but it might've been really fun had they not been so greedy for people's change and dialed it back a smidge or seven. There's some cool ideas and some new enemies and a Pegasus form that are all interesting ideas, but the execution everywhere else just kind of sucks. I made it to stage 41 where the game begins to loop and count it as beat.
BurgerTime [1982]
BurgerTime is a silly game about making burgers that I would like more if it was a little more forgiving with the controls. It's got the same problem as Pac-man where you think you're going to turn off but you don't, except it's ten times worse. I made it to stage 7 where the game begins to loop and count it as beat.
Paperboy [1985]
I had played some Paperboy over the years, and in coming back, I still enjoy it lot. The streets are dangerous, and the homeowners are ruthless. But I do love when these classic arcade games come with a concrete win condition. I had beaten easy street before, but we go big here. Now I've beaten it the hard way.
Pole Position [1982]
Pole Position is just as squirrely as I remember. The sense of speed is still there as well. As it was the first game like this, it was probably pretty mind-blowing in its day, but incredibly limited and more frustrating than fun today. I survived all four laps and count it as beat.
Frogger [1981]
Frogger is a simple idea, and frankly stupid sounding idea for a game, but it's wonderfully executed. Who knew getting to the other side of the street and crossing a river could be so compelling? I suppose it helps when the street is the Autobahn and the river is the Amazon. I made it to stage 11 and count it as beat.
Tapper [1983]
Tapper is a good reminder of just how brutal these old arcade games are. People really must have been made of different stuff to get good enough at these games to beat them one quarter at a time. The first stage isn't so bad, but from the stadium on through the alien bar this game is relentless. The people need to drink and they need to drink now. I made it past the alien bar back to the saloon when the game starts to loop and count it as beat.
Track & Field [1983]
This is one of those arcade games I never felt like I could justify buying on the Xbox Live Arcade, so I never did. I probably should have. It's stupid button mashing minigame fun.
Karate Champ [1984]
The first fighting game as we know them, and it turns Divekick wasn't the first to be the way that it is. Drop kicking someone in the face and hearing a satisfying slap noise is pretty good, but this game feels its age. Hit detection is all over the place, or at least doesn't feel discernable in my limited time with it. It also doesn't change much from round to round. I got past the cmp (championship) round and count it as beat.
Kung-Fu Master [1984]
This is the first brawlebeat 'em up or whatever you want to call them. It's quite basic, but it still feels good to play. I rescued the damsel once and count it as beat.
Ninja Spirit [1988]
This game is a lot slower paced than I imagined. It's supposedly better in the TG-16 version, but the arcade version is horribly balanced with its difficulty in later stages for quarter sucking purposes. Still, the game looks nice and its foundation is quite solid and satisfying to play.
The Legend of Kage [1986]
This game is pretty much a follow up to Kung-Fu Master and a precursor to Ninja Spirit. It's never as brutally difficult as Ninja Spirit. This game has the silliest looping sequence. "you saved the damsel! However..." as she proceeds to get abducted again. As this game introduces a boss in the 2nd and 3rd loops and the even loops feature an ending text, I made it through 4 loops and count it as beat.
Rush'n Attack [1985]
I played a lot of Rush'n Attack on the random GBA arcade collection I somehow came to have. It was always one of my favorites, though I was never particularly good at it. It's a lot like Kung-Fu Master, but with some actual platforming. It holds up decently well, but I think it being one of my favorite arcade games for a time, was more of a time and place thing than the game being special. I do still really like the way it looks though. I rescued the POWs once and count is as beat.
Ikari Warriors [1986]
This is a game I don't really understand why it is so beloved. I kind of don't like it for a variety of reasons. It's got a lot of slowdown, way too many cheap tricks to suck your quarters, and limits your ammo. It has tanks though I guess. As bare bones as Commando is, it is a much more enjoyable game to me.
Rastan [1987]
This is the main Volgarr the Viking inspiration, as they have a pretty identical sword swing animation. I didn't really think about it with Ninja Spirit, but with Rastan it struck me how much of a leap games took in 1987 in particular, not really that this game is some amazing thing (it's pretty good), but rather in playing it next to all these other old arcade games it looks far better than many games that came before, and it feels more like an actual whole experience rather than just something to while away the hours (not that there's anything wrong with that), and also Castlevania, Metroid and The Legend of Zelda released in 1987. Rastan is ultimately pretty similar to Rush'n Attack and Kung-Fu Master, but it's packaged in a way that made it stand out just a little bit more.
Cadash [1989]
Cadash is not really what I expected. It's basically a linear game, but it's technically open world. You can just go back and forth between zones as you want. It's structurally very similar to Castlevania II, but not nearly as obtuse. I suppose having towns and NPCs is not unheard of stuff for 1989, but it's just weird that this was all in an arcade game. It's vaguely D&D inspired and there are four classes that each play a little differently, and you level up like you would in Symphony of the Night. It's pretty good.
The Astyanax [1989]
The Astyanax is another level based action platformer similar to Rastan. A game it's strikingly similar to is the Legendary Axe on the TG-16, as the main character wields an axe, and there is a power bar that charges automatically that indicates how strong your swings will be. It's another solid action game.
Cyberball [1988]
I played a lot of Cyberball 2072 on the Xbox Live Arcade and really enjoyed it. I always meant to try the original to see the differences. It's a lot more basic, but mostly the same idea. The 2072 additions make it for a richer game, but the basic arcade football shell is plenty fun on its own. There isn't anything besides playing a game of football, so I won a pro division game and count it as beat.

2024.05.01 13:13 Tiberius501 How are you guys finding Achtung Panzer?

Now it’s been out a few months, I was curious what the general opinion of Achtung Panzer is so far, and if it’s as fun as it looks? Me and my bro are looking to possibly getting into it, but wanted to get this community’s opinion of it first.
EDIT: A couple of questions:
1) Can your screws bail out? I noticed the faction starters come with dismounted crew miniatures, so I am curious what they’re for,
2) Are you able to have different nations together in 1 list? Like, could I have an American tank with a bunch of British tanks for example?
Thanks!
