Hello,
Quick background: Bachelor's in Economics (2017) with no accounting courses, 2+ year works experience in non-accounting field (data/general analysis), MSc in Bioinformatics (2022). Haven't been able to find any opportunities in data analysis/data science/bioinformatics with the current state of the tech industry, so considering a career change to accounting and pursuing a CPA, but I have no background in it.
Wondering what options would be best for me if I decided to do so. California-based, so would need 30 accounting credits + 10 ethics credits from CC/online courses, as I don't think a second Master's is worth it financially (although I may be wrong on that).
Had a few questions/uncertainties:

1. Is pursuing a CPA the best approach for a career transition into accounting? I don't want to be stuck in an AAP/junior level for years working my way up if I don't have to, especially being in a HCOL area, so I assumed a CPA would help open doors and raise the ceiling on opportunities.
   
2. If I choose to complete the CPA education reqs by getting my credits as cheaply as possible through a Community College or online courses, then taking time to study for and pass the CPA exam, then getting my accounting work experience from there to complete the license, what kind of opportunities would I realistically be looking at? Is there real availability for solid entry-level opportunities for someone in that position (passed CPA but not licensed and no accounting work experience)?
   
3. Would it be better to complete the CPA Exam ASAP then find the work experience, or find an interim AP/AR level of job to start getting the experience while studying for the CPA (assuming I could get even an interim job with no relevant experience/coursework)?.
   
4. What is a realistic time-frame to complete CPA Exam for someone with no accounting background? I imagine I would need more prep time than most others studying for the exam. Excluding the courses to fulfill the education requirements (maybe 4-6 months), I'd imagine start to finish the whole process to be in the 1 - 1.5 year range?
   
5. Are there any good online programs that can help both cover the CPA accounting requirements while also helping prep for the CPA exam that don't take 8+ months and cost a lot? Most online options I've seen aren't quite what I'm looking for.

I am 25F. My dad is 65 and mom 60. I only have one sibling and she is 33. I was born in the US and raised in India. My parents were not rich but they raised me and my sister well. Never let us feel that we need to ask for anything. Lived luxuriously. I was always told as a kid that after highschool in India, I have to return to the US, get a degree start working and then I would file for my parents green card since when I was born in the US they only had a work visa and had to return to India. I came to the US when I was 17.5 years old. Got a nursing degree. Successful in my career and working full time as the assistant director of nursing in critical care. I am simultaneously in school full time to get my masters. When I first came in 2016, I lived in a rented room, my parents supported me and used to send Monday for rent. I used to work part time in library and support my food and any other needs like clothes etc. In 2020 when I got my first job, I started sending them money back and so far I am still sending. I did as I was told and I filed for my parents green card and now they are permanent residents. Their plan all along was to move in with me in United States and we would all live together again. During this Journey I met an amazing person who is now my significant other. We plan to get married. My parents dream of living with me is not going to fulfill and I see a huge change in their behavior towards me. I explained to them and apologized and said I know that it was your dream all along and followed every direction that you gave me but I am an adult now. I want to enjoy with my partner and live nuclear like my Parents did. I also said this doesn’t mean I will neglect them but instead of staying in the same house we will have a different arrangement. On the other hand my sister who is 8 years elder got married the same year to a guy who lived in the US and moved here in 2016 as well. I was supposed to go Kansas for an engineering degree instead of nursing but she made a comment regarding who will pick me up from the airport. I was supposed to live in the dorm but because my sister made that comment, I at the age of 17.5 changed plans and went to another state where I received grant and scholarship so my education was basically free for undergraduate. I have visited my sister and she has visited me. We haven’t met in the past two years and she thinks I have no interest in meeting her. We talk on the phone everyday and if I have any vacation days I go to see another country. Last to last year I went to Morocco because my partner lost his father. We went there. Last year I went to France and met my best friend there who was gonna get married in Jan this year. She has some issues which I do not understand. When she was my age she was living her life. I try not to hold any grudge against her when she did not help me in 2016. I explained to her let me enjoy with my partner for now. When I am getting older and married and settled, that’s when people seek out family and meet and stay connected. I told her since I am working so hard let me travel see new places now and she can definitely visit me. I do not have the budget to go see her and then go on a vacation. Now it’s been 2 weeks she is not talking to me and my parents have abruptly come to the US and working in a random motel. I don’t know what to think anymore. Even though I am the youngest in the family I feel the oldest.

I have been updating my CV regularly throughout my PhD, since in our program we have to submit an updated CV each year to the director. It is encouraged to put EVERYTHING on it, kinda like an annual review to prove how much we've accomplished over the last year. However, now that I am applying for post-docs, I don't want it to seem like I am inflating my CV.
Currently its super long (I feel) and I'm worried some things on there are not important. For example, our program requires us to give talks on our research to our department twice a year. I've been fortunate in that I always have something new to submit so I have 8 oral presentations from that alone. We are also "encouraged" to present at a campus-wide conference and a departmental conference, as well as attend at least 1 national conference per year, so I have a ton of poster presentations from that. I also lead a journal club discussion each year.
What would you include on your big-kid CV when looking at jobs? I've gotten rid of any duplicate poster presentations and only included the largest venue I presented at for each similar title. I'm wondering if I should keep the departmental talks on my CV? They really aren't a big deal but I do think it shows I have public speaking experience and based on feedback I have received I believe this experience has really enhanced my skills in that department. Should I completely remove my Journal Club talks as well? I have all these "internal talks" as a separate heading. I also have pre-PhD work experience that is healthcare related and relevant to my research- should that stay?
Also, do you guys put projects in process on your CV? I am a co-author on 2 manuscripts which should be submitted soon, but have not been posted to bioRxiv, and we have a separate analysis nearing completion that I will either be first or co-first author on.

As the title says, I’ve reached out to several schools who said they are still accepting applications (some the deadlines have passed, some they have no) but from what I’m reading on here even February and March applications are considered late. Will I be seriously considered? Do I need to blow the median out of the water to be considered at these schools? Or is there usually space since most of the schools I’m applying to aren’t ranked very high.
Right now I’m applying to CUA’s part time day program and it’s the one I’m most interested in. My grad work was all on CUA campus, I like it there, love the library, I live nearby, and the fact that I can do part time during the day is what sold me. I’m also planning to apply for online programs at Dayton, case western, southwestern, northern Ohio, maybe CSU. I’ll probably apply for GULC’s evening program but i can’t imagine I’d be considered this late without anything amazing. I was going to send my application over before LSATs because evening program is test optional. The evening schedule would honestly be difficult since I have young kids but if I did get in might be worth trying to workout a new child care schedule with my ex to make things work.
I was planning on starting fall 2025, and the VA is footing the entire bill. I was just accepted into this program in (applied once in the fall, denied, then re-applied and accepted) and now that I’m in, I have to start within a year. If I don’t, I have to re-apply and risk not being accepted for the program / funding.
So I’m going to try and go to law school. If not they’ll pay for another degree- but law is really what I’m interested in.
3.7gpa undergrad majored in history and psych (this was over a decade ago) president of psychology honor society and ROTC scholarship. (This far out from graduation seems silly to also list things like fraternity, mission trips, volunteer work, etc when I have so much more recent life experience - but should those things be include?
3.8 gpa MTS degree (theology) 1.5 years PhD work in theology. Never started dissertation. Reading comprehension in Latin, Attic Greek, Spanish, Italian.
7 years total teaching experience (social studies, Latin, and theology), 5.5 years high school.
Certified strength coach, also ran my own training business on the side during Covid and after for a bit. Not sure if that helps on the resume but won’t look bad.
Should have one strong academic letter from PhD program which was over 5 years ago - he is going to write one this weekend - and already have a strong letter form my principal (which I wrote for him and he edited a bit). Waiting to hear back from a second professor but last class I took with him was fall 2018 and they just started their summer vacation I might not hear back from him in time).
Signed up for LSAT in June. I had to convince LSAC just to let me register late (successful in that at least). My verbal GRE after undergrad was 164 (score no longer valid), and that was before learning Greek and Latin. My reading comprehension has always been very strong. I’m good at looking for flaws in logic in arguments since had to do that enough in grad school (besides theology I studied both the ancient and modern philosophers). The logic games I just started learning today - I can do them slowly but think I’ll be able to get them down quick by using the strategies from 7sage.
I’m gonna write my personal statement this weekend, ordered transcripts yesterday so I should have everything besides LSAT scores ready when transcripts come in which is hopefully by June 1.
I see a lot of people talk about “softs.” I think mine are good. How I do on the lsat I’m sure will be a big determining factor. Going to do a diagnostic tomorrow.
I’m only looking at part time programs right now because I have a full minivan’s amount of young kids who need their dad in their life as much as possible because of some unfortunate life circumstances.

I tend to have issues with both sides. Liberals tend to be idealist without recognizing practicality, like in terms of economics their arguments for their policies is just that they want a good economy with low poverty and a healthy middle class, but fail to explain how. I do have far, FAR more issues with the conservative end of the spectrum, particularly social conservatism.
There is no sugar coating it, the Conservative ideology is run on targeting a specific population, they want a scapegoat. Before the civil rights movement, conservatives believed that black people and women should not have the same rights as white men, and then made them the political enemy. In the 80s it became gay people, when HIV became a pandemic, and made gay people the political enemy. Now, it’s transgender people and folks with mental disorders. Of course this is very simplified, but it is true that conservatives hate transgender people.
It seems to be whenever a group of people gain new rights, conservatives go in and try to strip them. Nowadays it’s gotten way worse, because let’s face it, extreme conservatives are bullies.
I came across a conservative Instagram page called YAF (Young Americans for Freedom), and boy oh boy is it terrible. One thing they do is find videos of political enemies, often emotional, and just destroy them, but not in a clever way. They use memes to insult the political opponents. People with mental health issues and LGBTQ people show frustration with conservatives, conservatives will belittle their entire existence and say they belong in a mental institution. That is bullying at a large scale, and it is really hurting trans people. I don’t care about the “logically they’re XX or XY” when LGBTQ folks are committing suicide or getting murdered at a far higher rate than non LGBTQ people.
Unfortunately, it may be working. Trump is favored to win the election over Biden, and social conservatism is gaining lots of power. I fear if there is another Republican trifecta this fall, the following may happen in following years.
-Complete ban on trans rights -possible criminalization of homosexuality and gay marriage -Ban on birth control -Education freedom completely stripped/all schools are Christian -ban on the sales of electric cars -mental institutions brought back to widespread use to eliminate people who are socially inconvenient
Although these may seem like a long shot, I’ve seen some warning signs from really red states, and I fear if there is a republican trifecta that can turn the Supreme Court even more red, these are real possibilities.

I am returning to Canada (specifically Ontario and the Peel & TDSB boards) this summer and planning to re-start my teaching career in the fall (elementary level). I have been teaching abroad for 11 of the past 12 years, with the last 8 of those being in international schools.
I know the road to becoming a teacher in Canada is going to be long and painful but life circumstances have made it a necessary change.
I had my first interview for the TDSB OT and Eligible to Hire lists yesterday and I felt very unprepared afterwards and felt that my answers were not as good as they could be. The structure and style of interview was very different then what I'm used to abroad, and it was clear that I need a refresher on the current initiatives, policies, and general "issues" of elementary education in Ontario/Canada.
Some of the questions specifically named documents that I was unfamiliar with (it was in regards to reading instruction) so I think I need to go and read some of these documents. I remember the "Growing Success" booklet and have started re-reading it again (it's actually the same edition from when I went through teacher's college) but I remember there being similar documents as well. It looks like a lot of basic stuff have been incorporated into the government website (https://www.dcp.edu.gov.on.ca/en/) so I've been going through that as well.
Are there are other specific documents, articles, etc that I should be looking into as prep for interviews?
Also, for reference for anyone with interviews coming up, here are the paraphrased questions I was asked (questions were read a single time from a script, no written form was provided for me). I was looking for examples of questions myself before the interview but couldn't find too many examples.

1. A very long question about an experience I had with a student and how it influenced my teaching practices
   
2. A question about integrating indigenous students into my classroom
   
3. A situational example about how I would respond if I saw a student make a racial slur in the hallway
   
4. A question regarding how I would implement a reading program, a specific document or article was mentioned but I can't remember the name and I wasn't familiar with it.
   

Tomorrow I have a screening for an in-house senior content designer at a financial brand, which is a little daunting for a few reasons.
I’ve been an advertising/marketing copywriter for about 10 years, mostly at agencies. My plan in the interview process is to hype my digital experience, and say that I’m hoping to dive into a continuing education UX program soon (I’ve found a few that start in the coming weeks). I’m thinking I could maybe do a part-time bootcamp in parallel with my first 90 days. The agency team I’m on will most likely be hit with layoffs soon because of looming client cut backs, so I’m kind of looking for an out and really enjoy the UX writing I’ve done. I also just hate the agency grind.
The bulk of my experience has been in digital copywriting despite having a ‘copywriter’ title. I’ve worked on new landing pages on existing sites, and I’ve even being the sole writer for completely new websites and microsites. So I have extensive experience collaborating with UX Designers and dev teams, and I’ve created sitemaps and provided feedback on wireframes.
I was able to connect with the hiring manager after responding to a LinkedIn post he made saying he’s looking for someone with deep copywriting experience with a digital focus. He’s also worked at ad agencies, so I’m hoping he’ll understand my value.
Do I have a good shot? I’ve never worked on app development, and that’s what the role is for. But I feel like I have applicable skills.
If you have any advice about why I should avoid UX please do share. I know a lot of marketing folks who transitioned into UX are now trying to GTFO because of the limited number of UX roles.

pro-West party leader says they met PM Pashinyan and discussed a referendum to solidify Armenia's shift to EU

KHZMALYAN (European Party of Armenia): The referendum is our suggestion and demand. We presented it to Pashinyan and expect a response within a reasonable timeframe. We advised making a public statement soon. A referendum would also make Pashinyan's job easier by allowing the people's will to decide Armenia's direction.
REPORTER: How did Pashinyan respond?
KHZMALYAN: He suggested the meeting be held in a closed format so I can't reveal all details. We hope that our voice, our offer, our demand, was heard. If we do not receive a positive response, we will take measures by employing the same methods currently used by anti-European forces [the ongoing protests led by pro-Russian ex-regime]. We will take to the streets and demand a referendum for Eurointegration if necessary.
REPORTER: How long are you ready to wait before taking action?
KHZMALYAN: A few months. Georgia will hold parliamentary elections in October, and Moldova will hold a similar Eurointegration referendum - also in October. The U.S. will hold presidential elections in November which will be important for Armenia's future. Even if the worst scenario unfolds in all three countries, Armenia must stand firm and not take a step back. Armenia could become the leader in democracy in all of Eastern Europe if you consider the situation in Georgia, Hungary, and Slovakia [pro-Russia populist leader]. Armenia could receive an unprecedented level of assistance from Europe under those circumstances.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan say he plans to leave CSTO?
KHZMALYAN: We did not demand specific dates but we urged him to complete all these processes this year, preferably by November.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan agree?
KHZMALYAN: The participants of the meeting are under the impression that we were able to present convincing arguments but time will show what actions he takes. The government functions very poorly but nevertheless, they are doing something, they are taking steps.
REPORTER: On May 9, Bagrat Galstanyan gave Pashinyan 1 hour to resign but it's May 21 and he is still here. Why wasn't the opposition able to remove him?
KHZMALYAN: The 3 former presidents and their surrogate forces, backed by 30 years of power, were unable to bring forward a figurehead, a single ideology, that could win the hearts of the people. They used various political technologies, they switched between black and white robes, and they extended the 1 hour to 7 days, but none of that helped because the Armenian people hate them more than they hate Nikol Pashinyan.
REPORTER: You used to be a lot harsher on Pashinyan but something appears to have changed in your tone after your recent meeting with him. What is the reason?
KHZMALYAN: We were able to present our demands and the timelines to accomplish them. Unlike the archbishop and the former regimes surrounding him, we did not give "one hour" for Pashinyan to accept our demands; we did not make ultimatums. We believe the current government is carrying out and will carry out the will of the people to overcome the status of a Russian colony and join the ranks of free nations. We did and do see steps [taken by the government] towards this; we cannot ignore this. We saw the Strassbourg, but also Moscow. We saw the [April 5 meeting in] Brussels, but also [the recent meeting between FMs in] Almaty. We are told this is an attempt to "balance" and we understand where they are coming from, but our factions speak on behalf of over 60% of Armenians who view Russia's policies as deadly for Armenia. We expect concrete actions and we have formed a platform to continue this work; there will be petitions and other actions from us. We are ready to assist Pashinyan, who may be constrained due to ongoing negotiations, by being the public voice and saying the things he cannot say. We will continue to work, to pressure, to influence, to demand. Our meetings also continue abroad. We will press on until we reach our goal - the Eurointegration of Armenia. //

Q&A with ruling party MP Vahagn Alexanyan about the ongoing protests led by pro-Russian opposition

REPORTER: You continue to criticize the "holy movement"...
ALEXANYAN: The what now?
REPORTER: ... the "holy movement", by calling it a "pagan" movement. What is the ruling party's stance and do you discuss this internally?
ALEXANYAN: Of course we do, although I don't think Kocharyan's decision to name this movement "holy" is helping them. It's comical.
REPORTER: Do you have proof that Bagrat srbazan is [tied with Kocharyan]?
ALEXANYAN: Bagrat Galstanyan is surrounded by the entire political team of Robert Koharyan, he was a member of Kocharyan's 2022 protests and gave similar speeches he gives today, he received a praise from Russian propagandists, and he was named by a Russian propagandist Aram Gabrielyanov as a potential candidate for a new protest movement just a few months prior to these events, so it's beyond reasonable doubt that Bagrat Galstanyan is part of Kocharyan's team.
REPORTER: You were earlier accusing Galstanyan of being a Russian agent, and now Kocharyan's agent?
ALEXANYAN: Same thing.
REPORTER: The opposition gathered many thousands of supporters on May 9. What does the size of the crowd indicate?
ALEXANYAN: It was similar to Kocharyan's final rally before the 2021 elections. And?
REPORTER: The opposition created a video of "Pashinyan's lies" and broken promises. Will you respond?
ALEXANYAN: The clip itself is a lie and manipulation. For example, one of the supposed lies was Pashinyan's promise of an amnesty for overdue fines and penalties. You are a journalist, you tell me, was there an amnesty or not?
REPORTER: Pashinyan had also said that POWs could wait "just a few more months" and that he wouldn't "sacrifice Armenia's sovereignty" in exchange for bringing them back sooner. Why aren't they back?
ALEXANYAN: Dozens of POWs returned home in December, and efforts continue to bring back the rest. Literally 1-2 days before the POWs' return, the opposition claimed that the POWs were "forgotten" by the government. "Ոչ մի բան չեք անում:"
REPORTER: What about the Nagorno-Karabakh leadership?
ALEXANYAN: There are efforts to return them as well.
REPORTER: Why did the police form a wall to block entry to village Kirants [for nonresidents]?
ALEXANYAN: I think the NSS said they had to take action to prevent interference with the border work. From what I can tell, the protest leader himself went there yesterday and returned only 15 minutes later so there wasn't a big desire to stay there apparently.
REPORTER: They plan to hold a big rally on May 26 where they might nominate Bagrat srbazan as the PM's candidate to replace Pashinyan.
ALEXANYAN: Why not go straight for [alleged narco baron] Mihran Poghosyan [who publicly praised the protests]?
REPORTER: There appears to be a consensus around Bagrat srbazan after a meeting between several forces.

To get Canadian citizenship you have to take an oath to serve the best interests of Canada. To allow dual citizens to serve as PM in Armenia we have to accept for the PM to have loyalty towards another state. ALEXANYAN: It doesn't matter why he went to Canada. He is a citizen of Canada and took an oath. Even religious leaders with dual citizenship cannot become prime ministers. I don't have an issue with him being a dual citizen, but it limits his office options. He still hasn't renounced his Canadian citizenship even after all these talks about a possible nomination.
REPORTER: Galstanyan said he is ready to renounce it as soon as there is a need for it.

Armenia's Constitutional Court has a vacant seat. Pro-Russian opposition criticizes Pashinyan's ruling party for favoring a "George Soros-linked" judge who worked for U.S. State Department.

A Serj-era judge is leaving the Constitutional Court after receiving a job offer elsewhere so one seat is vacant. It is the judiciary's turn to nominate a CC judge, so hundreds of judges recently held a meeting and voted for Judge Balayan as their candidate. Balayan's father was a CC judge during Kocharyan's tenure. He was accused in the Wikileaks report of having inappropriate deals with President Kocharyan. Pashinyan's ruling party did not vote to approve Balayan. This led to a second gathering of hundreds of judges where they voted to nominate Judge Khachaturyan as their candidate. The parliament summoned him for Q&A on Tuesday.

JUDICIARY REP: I presented parts of his professional activities available on the court's public platforms. You can ask the candidate directly.
OPPOSITION MP: The Soros Foundation publicly listed him as a member so I don't understand why it's being hidden now. In your opinion, how will his work at the Soros Foundation affect his impartiality?
JUDICIARY REP: The majority of judges chose him and it's up to Parliament whether to confirm or reject.
RULING MP: Was the voting held in a closed session or can you see how each judge voted?
JUDICIARY REP: It's a closed format. My duty here is to present the candidate. [basically, leave me alone I'm just doing my job]
RULING MP: Why not make the court voting and internal discussions more transparent for the public to see so we will have fewer conspiracy theories on why one judge was preferred over the other?
JUDICIARY REP: I share the view that it needs to be as public as possible but the majority of judges voted to keep the session closed to the press.
RULING MP: Just because the discussions and the vote were behind closed doors that doesn't mean it was anti-democratic, but still, it's better to publicize the process. We hope to see a change in this approach.
JUDICIARY REP: The ballot casting will always be secret and I think that's the right approach in order to allow judges to express themselves without constraints, but I agree that the discussions and speeches should be public. Either way whatever we discuss behind closed doors always reaches the press so in practice there isn't really a major transparency issue there.
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: First, every part of my biography has always been public and part of public discussions. Second, I have always voted in favor of making internal discussions open to the press; it's the best way to avoid incorrect assumptions. Full speech here.

In all of those instances, you didn't mention your work at the Сорос Foundation. As for my simultaneous work with the U.S. Justice Department, there was no conflict with my membership or presidency at the Board because the latter was fully a public activity and we were only given a symbolic sum to compensate for our expenses; we are talking about less than $100/mo. I will let you be the judge regarding an agent of influence. There is a lot that's missing from my biography that was read here [lists some boring constitutional research work, etc.].
OPPOSITION MP: You keep being "promoted" by the ruling party without having the chance to finish your terms. The longest job you've ever held was at the Сорос Foundation - 8 years. The brother of the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, who is about to join the CC, cannot be impartial. Again, what guarantees can you present that you are not a [Western] agent?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: Your expectation for guarantees stems from the assumption that the [Open Society Foundations] were engaged in activities other than the ones they were actually engaged in. I won't present any "guarantees" because there is no "threat" to begin with. As I've said, that part of my biography has always been discussed publicly and the activities were public and covered by the press.
RULING MP: In your speech you spoke about the judiciary in the U.S. and brought examples. The U.S. doesn't have a Constitutional Court. Don't you think we should also merge the Constitutional and [Cassations Court] with the upcoming referendum to have one Supreme Court with corresponding chambers?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I support having one unified body like in the U.S., or clarifying the duties to prevent each body from interfering with the other. Lengthy answer.
OPPOSITION MP: A person [in Kirants] received permission [from USSR] to build a house and live in it. Then the [Armenian] government told him there was a mistake [after the clarification of borders]. Some 50 years after this incident, what would your verdict be in this case?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I understand the context. This issue is the task of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and we cannot interfere in each other's institutions. I assume there will be a peace agreement eventually that will be sent to the Constitutional Court for examination, therefore I will refrain from making prejudgments now in order to be allowed to take part in future processes.

anti-corruption: Armenian authorities conclude that luxury Dubai property belonging to former regime MP's relative was not obtained illegally by him therefore will not be sized as part of an asset forfeiture case

Mher Sedrakyan (Tokhmakhi Mher) is a Serj-era MP whose family is going through an asset forfeiture case worth ֏7.5 billion ($19.3 million) that includes 22 real estate properties, cars, and company shares registered under his name and the names of immediate family members.

Hi all, as per the title, I'm a high-school senior who's soon to graduate and go to college. I've been interested in both software and hardware since I was little, and I'm lucky enough to have been admitted to one of the best electrical engineering and computer science programs in the world. The program, being very flexible in terms of coursework, got me thinking about possible educational/career pathways. I've since been researching career opportunities, and I'm feeling somewhat lost.
Firstly, I'd ideally love not to limit myself to solely software or hardware roles, at least early in my career. I recognize that my knowledge of either field is very limited, though through some experience with web development, cloud computing, and backend infrastructure, I'm not sure if I'd like to do that sort of thing my whole career. Similarly, I don't think I'd want to do analog design. I do enjoy scripting and low-level programming, embedded systems, computer architecture, and digital electronics, and I'm sure there are more things in EECS that I'll find interesting. As such, I'm not sure what industry roles I could potentially be looking for.
There's also the issue of education beyond undergrad. The consensus seems to be that general software engineering careers don't really need a master's or PhD, but roles like verification and architecture need at least a master's.
Being in the Bay Area, I don't think it'll be impossible to find jobs in either field, though I am concerned about salary in the future, given that the cost of living here is absurdly high. From what I've read, low-level and hardware jobs simply don't pay as well as pure software, unless you have a PhD with 20+ YoE. Looking at it now, it just seems more financially sound to go into software. However, with the inflationary and saturated market, I fear that salaries will decrease, or at the very least, stagnate in the long term.
I say all this because I'd like to get an idea of how to roughly plan my education and time at college from people who know the aforementioned industries better than me. Obviously, no one can predict the future or time the market, but any knowledge and advice would be helpful at this point.

I'm returning to school this summer to begin completing my nursing prereqs. I'm aiming to have them completed after fall so I can begin applying spring semester.
At my cc in Orange County at least, the program appears to be very competitive to get into. My cc's admissions criteria favors people with previous healthcare work experience as well as those who already earned an aa or bs degree, so I think it attracts many people who have prior work or education experience.
I'm curious if other cc's in California, specifically those in LA, OC, and SD counties are equally as competitive or if this school is just an anomaly. Are most ADN admissions designed similarly or are there others who will admit you as long as you fulfill the admission requirements?

I am working towards my bachelors in HR with WGU. I previously went to a local university that had an online program, but the classes were not asynchronous (despite being advertised as so). I work full time, so I started exploring my options at online schooling that was fully asynchronous.
Lo and behold I found WGU. I was a little iffy because some people have started saying employers don't recognize WGU degrees as a real degree, but I really beg to differ. The coursework is actually well thought out. I actually have to put in time and effort to learn and do well on the exams and papers I am writing.
I am on my third course right now (started in March), and am absolutely impressed with how much they actually want you to learn. I know that sounds so stupid, but I kid you not at my local university I was literally able to look up the answers for homework online. Writing discussion posts was just me literally skimming the required text and then writing thoughtless discussion posts filled with filler words to reach the word count. The material wasn't engaging, and I never truly felt like I was applying what I learned.
I'm currently working on my D081 task right now for HR, and even though I've been on it for 5+ hours, I am absolutely amazed that I actually feel like I am learning and applying the knowledge I have gained.
Also, can I just say that the resources they provide us are very well thought out?! I took Employment Law as my first class and my instructor gave me a cheat sheet on ALL the major employment laws, who they apply to, how many employees a company has to have for it to apply to them, and much more. That's something I'm keeping forever so I can look back on it when I actually get into the industry.
Anyway, long story short... Yes! There's a lot of annoying things about WGU, but I feel myself actually getting an education here and learning things. It's definitely not easy though, so if you come from a regular university online program and try to transition here? Be ready for a lot more work lol.

I am currently in Harvards school counseling program that is a 1 + 1 model. This means after the first year we get our masters in human development and the second we get our school counseling certificate of advanced study.
I just finished with my first year and am trying to decide whether to continue onto the second. I somewhat regret choosing such a closed off degree. I loved the mental health aspect in school counseling and have thought about potentially qualifying for the LMHC eventually.
The only problem is that my program isn’t continuous. In my first year I have completed 48 credits and will obtain my masters. During the second year I will get around 32 credits additional credits and a school counseling certificate of advanced study.
I reached out to a nearby university to ask a few questions and was told “the Board of Allied Mental Health will not accept multiple transcripts and educational/internship experiences; they will only accept a 60-credit Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.”
Has anyone from Massachusetts run into this problem?

I hope this letter finds you well. To begin, I was drawn to this topic through social media posts that shared dozens of records detailing the abuse and deaths of hundreds of children in these therapy programs. I have often wondered, how can these programs be allowed to cause this amount of trauma to teens and children? This inspired me to look deeper into the troubled teen industry and understand why paid “caregivers” have put so many in danger. If we want to protect the wellbeing of these teens, we must find a solution to regulating these industries. Without increased laws and regulations we continue to place America’s children into potential death traps. Now what is a wilderness therapy program? Wilderness therapy programs, on the surface, seem like a promising solution for troubled teens, offering a blend of nature immersion and psychiatric support. However, the roots of the troubled teen industry date back to the 1970s, with reports of abuse surfacing early on. Shockingly, despite decades of outcry and documentation of fatalities, political inertia persists, and federal oversight remains lacking. It is understandable that parents want their children to be happy, respectful, and well-mannered. However, in an attempt to do what is right for their struggling child, parents may turn to the troubled teen industry. Currently, according to the American Bar Association, there are thousands of teenagers in these programs within the U.S, programs that often induce trauma and abuse, even causing the deaths of their children. So, why do parents continue to put their children into these programs? Is the fear of losing the “perfect” family leading parents to enrolling their children into these troubled teens’ wilderness programs? So why do parents enroll their children in these awful facilities? Simple answer: manipulation. The troubled teen industry (TTI) often manipulates parents through a series of insidious tactics. For instance, leveraging fear by exaggerating the risks associated with a child's behavior and creating a sense of imminent danger. Isolation tactics further reinforce this urgency, convincing parents that the facility is their sole recourse. These industries hire workers framed as “education consultants” that utilize high-pressure sales strategies to exploit parental anxiety, and present their TTI program as the only viable option. In an article by USAtoday, reporters held interviews of parents and teens who experienced a TTI program at Evoke, a Utah facility. "I was just an anxious mom. I loved (Katelyn) to death," Tessie, Katelyn’s mom, says, "I was so desperate and desperately wanting to save my child from herself" (USAtoday). Programs offer promises of rapid transformation and they prey on parental desperation for quick, easy fixes. Emotional manipulation adds another layer, playing on a parents guilt and insecurity. By showcasing selective success stories and controlling information flow, they obscure potential risks and alternatives. Stigmatizing the child's behavior further pressures parents into compliance, painting their facility as the sole refuge from societal judgment. "’[Evoke] just made it seem like (she was) such a rotten kid and that she couldn't come home after the wilderness program,’ Tessie says, instead [Evoke suggested] Katelyn go to an aftercare program” (USAtoday). In this web of manipulation, parents often find themselves coerced into decisions they later regret, unaware of the nuanced realities obscured by these tactics. In an article from the “Cafemoms” blog titled My Daughter Was a Victim of the 'Troubled Teen' Industry & It Haunts Me to This Day, a mother recounts her perspective of the tactics used by Island View (IV) treatment center to send her sixteen year old daughter to their facilities. “We trusted the [education consultant] when he said IV was the best program in the country and the best fit for Colleen. What the [education consultant] didn’t tell us was that the reason so many IV grads did so well after graduation is because nearly all of them went straight from IV to another residential treatment”(Cafemoms). Despite this, there is still hope for change. Imprint News wrote an article that focused on recent protests and youth advocates who were pushing congress to introduce new laws. Specifically, they discussed the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act. A main advocacy group aiming at these lawmakers is Breaking Code Silence, a group dedicated to advocating for young people who had experienced harm in a youth treatment center (Imprint News). Their main goal is to pass a Bill of Rights for all children in youth treatment centers (Imprint News). The article also mentions that Breaking Code Silence wants children to have guaranteed protection from physical restraint and monitored phone calls. They further require that children are provided with all the basic necessities (Imprint News). Paris Hilton, a well-known celebrity, discussed in a Washington post article when she was 16 years old when she was taken from her home by two men. This was a result of her parents signing her up for a teen wilderness program (Hilton). Hilton describes that she was beaten and malnourished throughout her time at a Utah Facility. In October 2021, she partnered with Breaking Code Silence and pushed for a reform that was signed into law last April (Hilton). In Utah, it is now mandatory for treatment centers to document any time that staff used physical restraint (Hilton). Immediately following they have to submit these reports to the Utah Office of Licensing (Hilton). It also prohibits programs from sedating residents or using mechanical restraints, such as handcuffs and chains (Hilton). Therefore, this proves that reforms can be implemented and that it is important to continue the fight for more. Without regulations these programs can run rampant and place hundreds of children in danger. Continuing to protest, collaborate with government officials, and raise awareness can, and will, eventually stop the persistence of these programs. Enforcing reports and proper care through the law is the only way to give teens struggling with mental illnesses in these programs a fighting chance to recover. On the other hand, supporters of the troubled teen industry have used studies and research to prove the effectiveness of these programs, one example being RedCliff Ascent. RedCliff Ascent is a wilderness therapy program that claims the effectiveness of wilderness therapy. In 2005, this company hired a researcher to study families and adolescents 2 years after the program. The results found that over 90% of adolescents found wilderness therapy as effective and 83% of adolescents were doing better. In another study by Dr. Steve Aldana, it was found that 91.4% of children experienced clinically significant improvement six months post program. The counter argument presented by RedCliff Ascent is not only biased as the research was initiated from a wilderness therapy company, but they do not provide a sample size. This is important because when making conclusive statements such as “Over 90% of adolescents contacted perceived wilderness therapy as effective” they could be talking about six out of seven children or two hundred out of two hundred twenty (RedCliff Ascent). Through further research, the same results can be presented without the use of wilderness therapy. An article by the American Psychology Association (APA) titled “Better options for troubled teens” presents a series of studies and programs that was created to help adolescents. These programs focus on community-based activities, activities to help connect teenagers with their parents, and activities that align with the teens interests. This includes computer labs, dance studios, and machine shops. These programs have found significant success in decreasing the amount of juvenile offenders from 50% to 4% in an area of Connecticut (APA). It did this by helping teens take accountability and understand their actions. It utilized role play, writing assignments, and guided discussions between the teens. Overall, the troubled teen industry has caused abuse, trauma, and death to many children across the United States. It is a trap for children and a trick for desperate parents. Through the personal stories from teens and parents, reports of mistreatment, and protests it can easily be seen the impact and the importance of preventing this industry from expanding, instead increasing regulations and transparency to protect America’s children. To keep these children safe it is imperative that everyone works together to enact legislation. Your support matters to keep America’s children protected.

So boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years. It’s been very good and we are very much on the same page with our future and what we want, house, kids etc. We make over $250K per year and equally split, we work very hard career wise and being financially set was important for both of us. Boyfriend and I have lived separately throughout our relationship but I’ve put in my notice to leave my apartment July 1st. Plan is to move in together, either at his or move into a rental home temporarily until we buy a home together. Id be happy to buy right away but I’m also fine to wait another year and experience living together first.
Here’s where it gets interesting- boyfriend has younger sister that moved in with him in September. She hasn’t been successful holding a job in the past, has some serious mental health issues (depression, anxiety, PTSD) has no education and has a 65 lb dog. Originally this situation was temporary to allow her to get back on her feet - look for a job or apply to a diploma program or something to get ahead in life. We were thinking by March she should be able to move out.
Here it is almost June, sister just started a minimum wage job working 15-20 hours a week. She has no savings and spends whatever money she makes on vapes, cigarettes, junk food and dog supplies. She pays no rent nor does she split groceries that my boyfriend and I have supplied since September. I help buy dog food and fill her car with gas, etc. I’ve done what I can to improve her life and make sure she was welcome and comfortable, as I spend a lot of time at my boyfriends and truly wanted to help her feel less stressed financially so she could focus on what she wanted to do for work or school. I would chat with her all the time about opportunities or programs. She spent all of winter not working and not leaving the apartment, severely depressed. We paid for her gym membership and took her with us whenever we could etc. I really feel that we did all we could to help her out. She has a therapist and medication and social supports, etc. I don’t see her being able to be successful on her own any time soon, the rental market in our area is expensive and a minimum wage part time job is not going to cut it. Also many rentals do not allow a larger dog.
I’m wondering what to do here. This sister situation has been a huge roadblock in my relationship with my boyfriend and our future and our chance to move forward. They live in a 2 bedroom suite, so there isn’t really room for me to move in, nor do I really want to in the current situation. It’s tight and honestly I’m so used to having more privacy and space at mine. I really crave one on one alone time with my boyfriend and we have sacrificed it so much to make her feel welcome and help her life improve.
My boyfriend and I are both financially ready to buy a house and move forward but we are now tied to being financially and personally responsible for this sister. The parents are struggling financially and health wise so they cannot take on this daughter of theirs. We have decided she and the dog are moving with us in this next chapter of either renting or buying a house.
I do recognize this situation may improve when we all have more space and maybe a basement for her to have her own area. However, I do not want to become resentful for a dependant I did not ask to be responsible for? I do not want to be resentful for not having the opportunity to live alone with my boyfriend and work on our relationship. I want a family and I also want to fully enjoy this next chapter of life we have both worked and saved for so long for!
How do I best set boundaries or a time frame to help this sister move on and live independently?
I fear we have made it to comfortable that she has no desire to pay her own rent or groceries, let alone live a full filling life of her own.

I was just looking at a program near me and the material required to learn is just ridiculously complicated. PHY 102 BIO 119 MTH 140 not to mention all of the actual DMS stuff.
There's no way I could complete the education required for this.
I thought this would be what I do.
Any advice? Any recommendations?

He was used at the end of his position in a very strange way. All those terrible quotes and seeing him looking like an evil Darth Vader type... that was really strange.
I never could figure out how making WEF seem so villainous served their goals...
Now it's obvious they knew he could be used that way since he would be out before long anyway. But what was the point of it?
I've always speculated that the complete and total absurdity associated with everything related to "Covid" and the push for the vaccines was so they would target a very specific demographic:

• Gullible/naive people
• Unintelligent people
• Follower types
• People with no backbone or ability to resist peer pressure
• People who would harm themselves and their own families for 'the greater good'
• People who would turn against their own kind
• Weak people unable to withstand hardship
• Addicted consumers who would shoot up a needle directly in their body in order to keep consuming nonstop

Sorry, no one wants to hear that but if you think about it --- that was their target demographic. To anyone thinking and/or paying attention, they made it ridiculously obvious that those shots were a bad idea.
Here were some clues:

1. Widespread censorship of citizen thoughts and opinions
2. Widespread censorship (and worse) for people in the science/medical community
3. Constant assertion of easily disprovable lies
4. Insane & bizarre measures to coerce people
5. Economic things that made no sense
6. Sending sick people as young as 20 into nursing homes even though the hospitals had already been emptied (and then censoring anyone who showed others that the hospitals were empty)
7. Blatantly exaggerating risk in obvious ways (testing only sick people in order to claim a high IFR)
8. Pushing the PCR test to a whopping 45+ cycles (a test that will detect anything with a high enough cycle threshold)
9. Making sure we knew that the people on the inside weren't following their own orders (elite/politicians had large unmasked parties, non-stop footage of authorities not wearing masks but pulling them up for the camera and off right after, etc., newscasters peddling fear vacationing maskless around crowded pools in Florida and other places that reopened or never shut down) etc.
10. Pushing unhealthy lifestyles, division, and hate during a time we were supposedly in "the worst pandemic of our lives"
11. Using expected deaths to trick people into thinking the death count was unexpectedly high. (~80 years ago began a massive global ~25 year baby boom. You can't have a baby boom without a death boom later on -- it's simple math. Anyone that explained this was shamed, censored, and banned.)
12. Intentionally death protocols -- separating people from their families and then administrating medications that killed them
13. Blocking treatments that appeared to work
14. Encouraging people to go out in the streets and protest in crowds while simultaneously shaming others for stepping outdoors
15. Arresting people for harmless activities, like walking their dog, being alone at a beach, or fishing at a pond, etc.
16. Lying about the shots being "approved" when they never were, and when called on it they said, "Well the approved shots are the same as what's being given to people so that's good enough!" Without telling them that they would be excluded from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program(!) ... And for the few who bothered to look it up, they claimed there was a "Countermeasures Program" to
17. Bold, blatant lies, coverups, and censorship with regard to vaccine side efficacy, adverse events, and death.

I could go on and on... But if you were offended by my prior list, look through those 17 examples and just try to tell me the first list is wrong.
It's not. This is the sad truth no matter how upset it makes anyone. It is what it is, and we were all attacked from within by our own governments...
And there's something critical about the way Klaus Schwab intentionally played the part of a cartoon evil villain. They didn't cast him that way and dress him up like a Space Invader for nothing. That played a role in this psychological operation -- it's just hard to tell precisely what.
For those of us who pay attention, it will likely become clear later -- as most people (from the first list) are caught up in the next Current Thing. Those who haven't yet succumbed to the long term effects of what was done to them. One of the most profitable mass poisonings in history.
(You may have noticed Pfizer & Moderna heavily investing in treatments for cancer and heart problems. This is no coincidence.)
PS. For the coincidence theorists out there -- don't forget that in the court of law people are convicted based on 'coincidences' and 'circumstantial evidence' all the time. Here in California juries are ordered to treat circumstantial evidence on the same level as direct evidence. When a series of coincidences add up to form a pattern -- they aren't coincidences anymore. And we're WAY past that point now.
But will they ever be held accountable? No, the naive & weak who allowed (and even encouraged) them to do this would rather stand in their defense than to admit they were wrong and hold them accountable. And that is probably why they were targeted in the first place. "Useless eaters" as Klaus Schwab's right hand man called him. (Their words, not mine.)

Background: My wife and I have 6 biological children the oldest just turned 30 and our youngest is almost 18 and will start college next year.
We have been playing with the idea of becoming foster parents for several years and feel that now is the right time to take the plunge. We recently started taking our State's training program (National Training and Development Curriculum NTDC). We have attended 2 sessions and while we are learning things some great things. My wife works in a school and I work in the mental health and substance abuse field so we have already hade extensive experience with trauma informed care. Having raised 6 children a lot of the training seems like common sense although I know reality is something different. During the session last night I think I used the phrase "child driven" a dozen times. Anyway my main reason for posting is to ask this community if you have any specific resource recommendations. I know this is a broad ask but maybe something specific like books would be very helpful. Thank you.

The priority deadline was Jan 1st for CCA MDes so I can't get the merit scholarship, however I have just decided this week that I really want to go to grad school at CCA for MDes. Tuition is crazy expensive so I am looking at assistantships however since I am applying so close to the deadline, I wonder if the program would even have spots left. The Deadline to apply for Fall 2024 is June 1st so I have little time to apply but I know I can't afford to go with out an assistantship even if I get in. I am trying o figure out what I can do for financial aid this late since tuition is 75k and fafsa will only cover a max of 20k for grad school.
