2024.05.24 00:37 bunnyvillageWA ESD asking self-employed information BEFORE I started my claim?

Hi all -
Currently has an 'Adjudication in progress' which I believe linked to my self-employment. When I clicked 'upload a file', there is an item call self-employment with filing period March 2 2024.
My question is, I filed the UI claim starting March 16 2024 (the week I was laid off), I'm not exactly sure what I should be providing in order to remove this adjudication as I'm not really filing anything for March 2 2024.
Background information if that helps. My self-employed is regarding a bookkeeping service for my friend's company. I occasionally help them close their book, and the works are couple hours over the weekend. I put Feb 29 2024 as my self-employment start day. We skipped March as there wasn't anything, April was disqualified as I'm not AA (out of town) and here we are with May.
I did received a approval letter from ESD saying 'We decided you are eligible for benefits because you are self-employed and you meet all of the following criteria' etc. I believe this is related to my April self-employed filing.
Thanks for the help!

2024.05.24 00:32 nothin_new_after_2 High BAC with CDL outcome (Riverside County)

Court side: -3 year informal probation -9 month DUI class -$1970 in fines -41 days of work release (lawyer says I should be done in about half of that)
DMV side: -Mandatory 1 year loss of my CDL Class A -1 Year restricted license with IID
This was my first DUI, no priors. No accident. My arrest was 7/23 of last year. Finally got to court 5/22 of this year. Had a bad relapse and was on a bender. Made a bone headed move to drive after day drinking. Was making a right on a yellow and the red barely got me. Pulled over, failed field sobriety test, and refused breathalyzer test. I agreed to a blood test (this got complicated later). They took me in drew my blood which wound up being .25. The night shift messed up my information so I wound up being in jail for 26 hours. Lawyered up immediately when I got out.
So my case was tricky since I had a Class A CDL. My arresting officer was a little inexperienced. On the police report he put down that I had a double refusal which was not true, had that gone through I would’ve lost all driving privileges for 1 year. My lawyer was able to postpone the dmv hearing until he saw the body cam footage, then he was able to confirm that the officer made several mistakes and didn’t word things correctly. This saved me for my current employment. So Riverside County is pretty harsh on DUIs and especially if you’re a class A driver’s license holder. They originally wanted to give me 90 day work release, MADD, community service, and something else that I forgot. So I’m pretty happy with the result.
My court date got postponed twice and the only reason I ever got was that they’re busy. It’s been a long 10 months of sleepless nights and anxious days worrying about the outcome. So it’s a huge relief that it’s finally hear it so I can start getting this process over with. Ive been sober since last August so they definitely has helped. I highly recommend getting a lawyer to anyone with a recent DUI. Especially if you have a commercial drivers license because they’re going to want to throw the book at you. I know they can be expensive but if you have the money, do it.

2024.05.24 00:12 Kasha2000UK Can anyone give any advice on how to navigate lack of communication and lack of training?

New job, after a long period of unemployment due to disability - so especially important I keep this job.
On the first day we had an induction, that was it - myself and the other newbie on reception have been left to our own devices. We've been given online training that has little to no relation to our role, and had some shadowing. I feel we weren't taught how to do the job and are missing some vital things from our knowledge - but it's not the best environment to ask when stuck, we're expected to know what to do and get patronising or sarcastic responses at times too. It's not a bad place, but not newbie friendly.
Furthermore my shifts are a mess. I've expressed to my manager that this is causing anxiety because I'm often unsure when I'm supposed to be in the office - he also knows I'm Autistic, I could argue that my employers letting me know my shifts is a 'reasonable adjustment' but actually it's just a plain reasonable!
Next month my rota should be set but the lack of communication so far bothers me.
Last week I had to email my manager to confirm shift pattern this week because I hadn't been told, he answered but then later asked me to swap out Monday morning for Wednsday afternoon - fine, although nothing on paper, via email, or on the shifts app to reflect this which made me anxious.
Today there was a team meeting, but no one told me to come into the office - it wasn't even mentioned when I emailed my boss about this weeks shifts. I'd hope I'm not expected to come into work for one hour for a meeting, and I hope I hadn't been expected to come in today but just not told. My manager wasn't in the office yesterday to ask him to confirm, I've not had a message from him yet - the other new receptionist messaged asking if I was in today, other reptionist said yesterday all receptionists are normally at the meeting, so I've been anxious since yesterday.
It's supposed to be 21 hours but it's been closer to 29 hours, and this week it's only 16 hours so maybe they'd assumed I'd be in today like previous weeks.
I've also yet to get the training for the admin side of the job, my admin shifts start next week.
I don't know if I'm just being anxious or if that anxiety is justified. I've not been told off for anything yet or missed a shift, I'm just terrified in case I do and walk into the office one day thinking all is good just to be ambushed.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Do I just see how it goes? If I was supposed to be in today, or I don't know how to do something, how do I professionally point out I can only do what I've been told without sounding disrespectful or like I'm just making excuses/someone they regret hiring.
Edit: just had an email the meeting was rescheduled until tomorrow as there were only four members if staff present - I think there are seven of us in total. So I don't know if that's okay, or if I'm still going to be scolded tomorrow for not being in today.

2024.05.24 00:08 Anxious_Insect_1711 PFL says we own them money paid because we received disability benefits...we never received disability benefits.

Sorry. Kind of a long post. Sorry for formatting errors or spelling. Not a lot of reddit experience and I'm writing this after a lot of time spent getting nowhere.
So my wife is in a bit of a bind. We had a child in January of 2023. We both filed for PFL and were approved.
We were dumb and took the advice of someone who told us she also qualified for disability because she had a c-section ("major surgery" supposedly). She filed for it but she got denied specifically because she had already received PFL during the same time frame she was filing for disability. We also never saw any extra money basically confirming the denial of disability benefits. Oh well, would have been nice for her to be able to take more time off, but it was fine. No big deal...or so we thought.
We got a letter later in 2023 from EDD telling us that, according to them, she was overpaid in PFL benefits because she received disability benefits during the same time frame. Clearly not true. The letter included an appeal option, which we did along with a relevant documents and explanation. Sent it certified mail and never got a response. Seemed like that was that...spoiler alert...it wasn't.
Fast forward to late March/early April 2024. Got another letter claiming the same thing again. Another appeal was sent with all documentation and explanation. Certified mail and confirmed it was delivered.
Late last week we got a collection letter with all the expected threats regarding this "overpayment" and demanding repayment.
My wife called today and was only able to speak to the collections department. They can't do anything. They don't see that an appeal was submitted or anything. We were forced to set up a payment plan to avoid high interest penalties/fees. We are now set to pay back money she rightfully received because they think we got money we never received.
She's going to try and get through to EDD tomorrow but has anyone experienced something similar. Or know what else we can do? This fucking backwards state doesn't have any modern way to quickly communicate to handle this kind of thing.
I called the appeals department and of course there is no appeal on File.

2024.05.24 00:07 MyJobflow One simple resume update to better sell yourself on paper

You’ve spent your career gaining experiences and sharpening skills that will be extremely valuable in your next role. Many people just need a little help selling yourself on paper to show the Hiring Manager you are a perfect fit for that job opening.
One of the best ways to do that is by quantifying your success. Remember, your resume isn’t a list of duties performed in your jobs. It’s a tool that shows a prospective employer what you accomplished, so they can easily understand what you can do for them if you are hired.
Let’s start with a question: What are you most proud of accomplishing in your role?
Perhaps you are most proud of growing a book of business from enterprise customers in your sales role. Or maybe you led a team through an important project. These are great examples to anchor a narrative for your resume and cover letter, but you’ll want to make it a little more impactful.
Let’s quantify your success to show the outcome of your accomplishment so the hiring manager understands the value you’ve brought to your role. We recommend a proven method using the XYZ format: Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y], by doing [Z]. What did you accomplish? How was it measured? How did you do it or what led to the results?
Let’s take our first example above: Grew book of business from enterprise customers
It’s a stronger statement if we simply quantify the results: Grew revenue from enterprise customer accounts by 15% QoQ.
But it’s even stronger using Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y], by doing [Z]: Grew revenue from enterprise customer accounts by 15% QoQ through consultative process to highlight new features that solved critical business needs. That proves to a prospective employer that you have the consultative sales and account management skills necessary to consult with clients to grow enterprise sales, and they can envision you doing the same for them.
Let’s look at our second example above: Led a team through an important project.
Let’s start by being a little more specific about the scope of the project: Led a team of 5 through selection of new software system for Finance department.
That’s good, but what was the outcome of the project and how was it accomplished? How about: Led a team of 5 through selection of software system for Finance department, which decreased monthly billing costs by 23% due to digital migration and reduction in billing time.
Here’s a final example when there isn’t an obvious metric-based outcome to highlight:
Ideally, you tailor your accomplishments for the jobs to which you are applying.
Hopefully, this helps someone!

2024.05.24 00:07 MaximusDallinga Interested in Grad School, Seeking Advice and Insight on What Might Work for Me

Hello everyone! Hopefully I'm posting on the right sub for this.
Let me begin by briefly mentioning that I am not 100% set on going to grad school. However, I am very curious and I'd like to hear what you guys have to say.
Some background on me: I graduated from Miami University (of Ohio) in 2022. I studied English Literature and Environmental Science (co-major), and had a minor in Music Composition. Yes, it's all over the place.
I finished my undergrad degree with a 3.63 cumulative GPA. I had some poor classes at the beginning of school, but also achieved the dean's list multiple times and the president's list once. One important number to mention here is that I achieved a 3.89 GPA across my English Literature courses.
I was a solid student, but not necessarily outstanding. I have excellent writing skills, wrote good essays, submitted my work on time, and still retain a ton from lectures. However, I didn't realize that I should be looking for connections with professors, TA opportunities, etc. I also didn't speak up much in my classes, so I'm probably not the most memorable of students. However, I do think some professors will still remember me. One professor even offered me a research position, but when we were getting ready to set that up, COVID hit and squandered any chance at going down that route. COVID also destroyed my chance at internships, so I'm catching up on that now. The only other thing outside of this is that I worked at/contributed to a creative magazine at my college. Nothing too crazy, but by no means a terrible academic foundation.
After graduation, I gained a year of employment working a base-level bookseller position at Barnes & Noble. After quitting that job, I got a 6 month content marketing internship that ends in June. I also recently got another content marketing internship at a small tech company that ends in October.
Now, two years out of college, I am curious about pursuing an MA in English or a similar program. I'm interested in the intersection of Environmentalism and Literature, but that's just one of a million potential interests. As far as a future career path, I'm not sure. I do know that an MA in English Lit or something similar might enable me to find opportunities, connections, and a far more rewarding career path for me.
So, my questions: - Do you guys know of any good programs (realistic for me) for getting an MA in English?
-What else can I do in the coming months/year to stand out. Volunteer opportunities?
Sorry for adding so much information! I just wanted to give everyone a really solid idea of what I'm working with. And again, I've just started to touch this idea, so any advice is welcome! Thanks :)
TL;DR: 2022 graduate with 3.63 cumulative gpa, 3.89 major gpa, and some entry level work experience seeking advice/insight on grad school programs for English Literature.

2024.05.24 00:06 TheTim I am so done.

Laid off 18 months ago. Thought I found an OK job a few months later, but they pulled a bait-and-switch and I ended up doing tedious, menial, mind-numbing work instead of the impactful and engaging job they interviewed me for, so that only lasted a few months before I was back on the job market again.
625 applications and 7 interview loops later, I haven't received a single job offer and frankly I'm just done.
This job market has left me defeated, dejected, and demoralized, and I've decided that I've had enough. I'm done spending hours a day searching for jobs that align with my skills, writing enthusiastic cover letters, fine-tuning my resume, filling out applications, and sending cold emails to hiring managers, all for literally zero return on my substantial investment of time and emotional energy. It's time to move on.
No idea what exactly I'm doing next, but I've got to figure out some other way to pay the bills, because this job market has sent a very clear signal that I'm not wanted in any typical employment arrangement.

2024.05.23 23:56 Mobile-Average1621 Am I the a hole for yelling back at my sister for yelling at me through text

Throw away account
My sister is trying to help me move last week we went and dropped off my application and more information was needed. Today she asked me to confirm if they had to correct number for my employment. I checked three times that I sent them to correct number.
She asked me a question that I didn't understand first so I asked her what did she mean.
She sends me a text back in all caps! What's pissed me off. So I sent her a text back in all caps letting her know I did everything I had to do and I didn't need her screaming it me through text she wants she can call me and let me know. I told her don't start with me which is something my mother says I get it honest.
A few hours later I get another text from her still SCREAMING. What do I mean don't start with me?
I haven't replied yet I'm just letting it go because I am ready to blow up and when I blow up it ain't going to be pretty
So am I the asshole.
For context I need to move this summer and yes she has been helping me I can't fault her for that. She's been lovely up into this point and I don't want to start any trouble in the family I really don't. I want peace not drama in my life.
ETA at this point my older sister is offering to let me move out of state with her and I may just do it but I think it'll upset my mother.

2024.05.23 23:55 semiquantifiable Deducting license expenses

I have some salesperson license expenses I want to deduct and per CRA, deducting those license expenses are not supposed to be part of union dues and the like, but rather should be deducted on form T777. If that's the case, is it also required to have an employer-signed T2200 that includes that license expense?
I thought that form was expected if you are filling in a T777 for employment expenses, but the licenses link doesn't seem to indicate any form or other confirmation from the employer is required.

2024.05.23 23:53 GabiTheGoodWitch Saskatchewan Job Approval Letters

I just saw an announcement that beginning May 2, job approval letters for existing employees in Saskatchewan are valid for only 60 days.
Can someone clarify this for me? I am from the US but have a friend from Ukraine living and working in Saskatchewan. He is in the process of applying for PR through his employer. A couple weeks ago, his employer had him sign a letter and gave him the PR application to complete. He was told to “do this as soon as possible.”
Does this new legislation mean that he now has the reminder of his 60 days to submit the application? Or does the letter expire even after he’s submitted it while he’s waiting for someone to process it?
I’m way out of my depth here, but I am trying to understand this so I can be supportive. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.

2024.05.23 23:50 glocotransport I am a real estate agent, got sued for discrimination

Hi community, I'm a licensed California real estate agent, working based in LA.
Today, just got a lawsuit letter for discrimination from previous client.
About 2 months ago, this client reached out to me and ask me to find his new rental Property.
He mentioned that the reason for moving was the mold from his current resident, so I helped him out my best to fulfill his best of interest.
I found the condo for this client, submitted leasing application, waited listing agent and landlord's response.
As what listing agent told me, the landlord is holding one applicant and wanted to interview my client through zoom meeting.
After the meeting, the listing agent contacted and told me that the landlord dropped my client due to his several lawsuits against the previous landlord with mold issues over and over again.
I told the client that the application was dropped due to previous and even current lawsuits. Then the client got furious and told me he would file a lawsuit against the landlord and their agent. The reason for filing a lawsuit is because after the zoom meeting, his believed his race affected the decision to drop his application. He then texted me he wanted me to stay away from this and he acknowledged my hardworking finding a good home for him.
Then today, I got a lawsuit from this client. Including my broker.
What should I do and why in the world am I part of this lawsuit?

2024.05.23 23:42 Different_Meeting_21 Government Whistleblower Protection vs Privacy Protection

I believe I found myself in a bit of a pickle and Im hoping someone could provide me with a bit of insight and guidance.
Last year I worked for a county level social services department, on a 6-month contract with possibility of extension, in Ontario. The social services department was responsible for two smaller counties, but administrated by only one of them - known as a consolidated service manager. One of the programs I administered was a home renovation initiative that give people up to $25K to do essential renovations on their home to prevent homelessness. The program was open for applications for a specific time period, and assessed based on need, due to limited funding.
After the deadline past, and just before the end of my contract, the director of the department submitted an application on behalf of another department's director's mother. This didnt sit well for me for many reasons (outside of application window, submitted by the director who approves the applications that move forward ect.) I first brought the situation up a long term employee and they confirmed that the issue was unethical and I should notify my manager. I then spoke to my manager and they agreed that the issue was funny, but decided to ignore the matter and just brush it aside.
My contract was coming to an end and I did not want to seek renewal partly due to this situation. I forwarded all emails relating to the situation to my personal non-work email account. Most of the emails were from the director to my work email. The forwarded emails that i then forwarded to my personal email contained the application, which had the director's mother's private info - bank statements, photocopy of the healthcare, home insurance info. The emails I also forward to myself were ones that highlighted me bringing the issue up to my manager.
I wanted a copy of these emails to hold on to for 2 reasons:
  1. To ensure I was able to get EI coverage after the contract expired due to unethical practices, if I had trouble getting EI benefits
  2. Nothing was being done to address the situation so I wanted to report the matter to resolve the issue from happening. I was not sure if the application would be approved, as my contract was over.
Shortly after leaving the job, I set up a meeting with the senior leadership of the secondary county that the social service department serves. I gave them all the information I had, with the promise they would keep my info confidential. This led to a third party investigation taking place. I am not sure of all of the exact outcomes - but in the end I was told there was a conflict of interest with the director submitting another directors application on behalf of their mother. It also contravened HR policy with reference to unique treatment.
Shortly after the investigation concluded, I received a register letter stating that an IT audit found that I had conducted a privacy breach because I "disclosed" the applicant's (director's mother) personal info by sending it to my personal email account. It said I contravened the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. As well as the Personal Health Information Protection Act. The letter said for me to delete all the info I had - which i did - but it also said they submitted a report to the Ontario Privacy Commission because the application had a copy of the mother's health card. The letter didn't state anything further, just to write back that I have deleted all the info - which I did.
Should I be worried about anything? The only people I shared the information with was the CAO of the secondary county and their HR Rep, along with the investigator. I appreciate any information or insight you can offer me, or any steps I should take.

2024.05.23 23:38 Positive_While_4284 What are my options?

I live in Alabama. In January my mother passed away. This has taken a big toll on my mental health. I am an only child and no father in the picture. I took my bereavement leave, but she died on the start of my work week and it was sudden as she had no health issues. So my entire time off was planning the service and funeral. I never had time to grieve and I just put my head down and went back to work. Her birthday was mid February and on March 1st I had a breakdown and needed some help. I told my supervisor I needed to leave for the day and gave a brief explanation as to why. She was already aware of what happened and what kind of an impact it had and said she was waiting for this. Our company provides services for employees and she gave me a number to call. It's a third party company that finds people in network for assistance. I started seeing a therapist and medication manager and was told to fill out the documents for short term disability. So I got the paperwork from sedgwick and gave the portion required by her to her and submitted the portion I needed to fill out seperatly on my own. She can't give them back to me as it has to go through this other company to go through the docusign process and then they submit to sedgwick on my behalf. Well, a few weeks before mothers day I got an email and phone message my claim has been denied. Mind you, I haven't been paid at all during this time other than the 2 weeks sedgwick gives up front, and still have not. I'm missing over 8 weeks of pay at this point. I called my therapist and asked her about it and she told me on a followup call that her contact there admitted to just forgetting to submit the documents. We have 30 dollars in the bank currently. My wife works, but I'm the primary breadwinner and we have 2 kids, so needless to say it's been extremely difficult. I called sedgwick and explained what happened. They know about that company so they allowed me to resubmit the claim. After that I sent the documents back to my therapist and the process started again. I also sent her a workplace accommodation form my supervisor had given me as well. I gave them a few days and sedgwick still had not received anything. So I called this third party company and spoke with a supervisor and was sent confirmation emails it was submitted and that everything was good. I made very clear to her on the phone what was going on and that I needed those std forms submitted. They are also sending me notices about not paying for the services, but like I told her I can't pay anything because they haven't done their end. The day after mothers day it just became too much and I attempted, and wound up hospitalized for 3 days. When I got out I had missed messages from sedgwick so I reached out to them again and the lady told me they never received anything other than a workplace accommodation form which doesn't even go to them it goes to my employer. The due date was the day before I was released from the hospital. I asked and she told me I could have my primary care Dr fill it out which I just got completed today and I've uploaded to them. It'll be almost 3 months I've not worked. 2 and a half of which was from my therapist recommendation and the rest, well I just couldn't bring myself to go and wound up in the hospital. I'm afraid if the claim gets denied again for whatever reason I will certainly lose my job, and I will owe this company money and have to pay back the 2 weeks I got paid up front from sedgwick.
This company is supposed to be there to assist with my mental health and instead the stress caused on top of what I was already dealing with landed me in the hospital. I know it's my own actions. I'm fully aware of that, but I'm wondering what, if any, recourse I might have. Especially if I wind up being terminated over this. I'm at my wits end. Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.23 23:36 ncaldera0491 Debt collection letter in the mail Not adding up.

Got a debt collection letter from Collection Resources Inc. Looks legit has the name of my dentist and everything. but when I call my dentist they say my account is paid in full and doesn't have a balance they also say they don't sell their debt to collection agencies. When I look up their business online all reviews are saying it's a scam and one mention a call rep by name. When I call the business I get the exact same name and when I ask questions she says things like "we've worked with your specific dentist for years" how does a call rep know this off the top of her head? Also the voice felt... off? Like it used AI to sound American? I could be wrong. I don't know how to approach this.
Is there anyway I can confirm if this is legit?

2024.05.23 23:36 Magma6969 WIBTA if I broke up with my gf to pursue my career

I (29M) and my gf (28F) have been dating for two years.
Recently my job has relocated and I need to relocate in order to keep my employment. I make $150k/yr after several promotions and climbing the ranks for 10 years in this company. I have asked if I could stay or even change departments for me to stay (even at up to a 20% reduction in salary) but was told my specific role is needed in the new location (I confirmed my salary and responsibilities would remain unchanged).
With how the labour market is right now I am unable to find anything comparable in salary or benefits. My gf works in healthcare and she does not want to move. We have had talks about this repeatedly and she basically asked me to instead work a lower paying job in order for us to stay together (the only jobs I have found with my skill set pays $30k-$40k/yr). She makes decent money ($80k/yr) and reassures me that we can make it but honestly I feel like I’d be living a lower quality of life.
We do not own in the current city we live in, we both rent an apartment together with an open lease but we do have family in the current city we live in.
WIBTA if I were to break up with her over this? She refuses to do long distance unfortunately and doesn’t want to entertain the idea of each of us flying out to meet each other. She’d rather “rip the bandaid off sooner rather than later”.
I just don’t want to be the reason we break up but it seems I have little to no choice.

2024.05.23 23:32 Initial_Hospital_414 Selling my home with very little money. Need some advice.

For privacy reasons, I'll be short and vague where needed. I live in a home worth around $650,000 give or take. I still owe $525,000. (Only been here 2 years)
Giving some quick back story here because I'm sure many will advise me to stay.
I was making about $100k a year and no longer am employed. My business partner ripped me off and due to this, I am leaving the state with my startup. It doesn't make much yet but has some clear traction. I need to leave the state to fulfill some contracts I've secured I have a fixed income of $2,000.
I should walk away with $60,000 - $100,000. I don't have much cash on hand to do the move. I have a family so it's not as easy as pack up and leave. I have some late payments on my mortgage from the last few months. I needed the money for a lawsuit.
I would love the idea of buying something cheap cash and fixing it up as I go. I know that is expensive and understand why it is hard to accomplish. My second thought is to buy something for $200,000 or so and put all of the proceeds from my house as a down payment. I know the late payments will make this messy interest rate wise, but if it's possible this is likely my best outcome.
Renting. If the price makes sense sure. Problem is I have 3 kids and 3 dogs. I can understand why a landlord might want to stray away from such a clan. (And for good reason)
Would love some advice here. Thanks

2024.05.23 23:30 Ok-Poetry5143 Breaking The Silence of Violence in the Workplace.

This is the first post I have made on this site. I had been advised by a few friends to post the issues I had in the workplace. I have not had to complain about any of my other employees over the past 40 years but I still have a VOICE!
Everyone has the right to feel safe and unthreatened by their employer!
How can the below behavior of an employee affect so many other employees yet never held accountable for their actions. There are more occurrences than stated this is just a brief to help get the general idea of what took place. Yet all of the reported issues regarding a "Certain Employee" goes unnoticed by the CEO and company. The employees are made to feel as if bad behavior is condoned by the company I worked for.
There have been multiple complaints filed with DOL and the company’s corp office by previous employees since 2018… Even Glassdoor has negative commits listed from before I went to work for the company at hand in 2022.
Following a Company generated review questionaire regarding the workplace where the staff gives insight into each question, several employees were let go . I was let go less than 30 days from the review and I had sent upper management emails for months regarding my fear of being let go and losing my health benefits due to having a disagreement with one of the corporate staff members.
I had witnessed retaliation against other employees who reported their allegations against a certain employee and I feared the same happening to me once I spoke up.
The majority of my coworkers including the “certain employee" was aware of my husband only having 15 to 20 % of his heart pumping and he needed surgery to try to increase the percentage of the flow. I have been worried sick about losing the man I love.
In addition to this surgery, he was scheduled to have his rotator cuff, biceps and two tendons repaired but the surgeon would not perform this surgery until the heart surgery was completed. It had already been scheduled but a few days prior to the scheduled date the anesthesiologist refused with such a low percentage of his heart operating properly.
But they assured him that within 6 weeks or so after the heart device was implanted they could get this taken care of. We had met our yearly deductible with the insurance and already paid the copayment when they had to reschedule it. But, by this time my fears had become reality and I lost my job. We are now self paying for the heart surgery and the orthopedic surgery.
I even had letters from our insurance company indicating the procedure was approved but they were not honored after I lost my job. This has caused so much financial and emotional stress for me and my family during this time.
There is not a reason given in my separation letter as to why I am no longer employed there and since I REFUSED to sign the letter due to the “Hush Money” clause that was included in the letter. I was not given the offered separation amount of funds. (2 extra weeks pay). But, as a former reporter I have covered numerous wrongdoings by others and I was not about to sign away MY VOICE!
I have been busy trying to make sure my husband is taken care of post surgery (I had my vacation scheduled when I was let go) so looking for a new job has not been easy and I have not had the time to file for unemployment. Because of course, I cannot access the account to file online from a previous account I made during the COVID Epidemic which took my mother’s life.
I have emailed the employee that is accused of causing the havoc regarding the happenings and I also sent the CEO of the Company the same email. This company has a podcast that speaks against these exact behaviors being displayed in the workplace and how unacceptable that is. WOW!!!
I have witnessed other people struggle due to being treated unfairly and I want to be the LAST employee they treat like this!!!!!
I may be broke financially and my mental state has taken a severe beating but I want this individual to be held accountable for the actions she has displayed myself and to others.
Instead of being held accountable this employee is honored at the “Hospitality” awards held in Florida. They remove employees that have issues with her and continue on.
I taped my exit interview and the content that I spoke about to the HR Rep will shock you… There was not a reply though just a script reading and telling me goodbye. HR had previously contacted me about another employee reporting illegal drug use and reckless behavior by the "certain employee" ... I mentioned this is the exit interview... Insanity how I was treated for doing the right thing.
Below a list of Allegations made by various employees regarding the “Certain” employee at hand. There are more complaints but they fall into the same area of misconduct as listed below.
If anyone can offer their advice on this issue please feel free to let me know..
NOTE: Again at the present time the above mentioned are allegations made against a "certain employee" and other name/company gestures. No personal information on the accused is included to protect their identity.

2024.05.23 23:27 Traditional-Monk-312 Need advice

Hello, I've been kind of stalking this subreddit for a while and haven't really contributed but I am now seeking advice if that's okay. I filed my taxes back in January...which apparently it's a mistake to file your taxes early?? I did not know that...and then after like a month, my husband received a letter saying we had to confirm our identities; which we did. Then they told us to wait nine weeks...we waited and then got another letter that said they had to review our paperwork and to wait sixty days. So we waited and received yet another letter before the sixty days were up saying that we had to wait an additional 60 days. I looked over our taxes and found an error at that time and spoke to someone with the irs and they advised that I correct it and send an amended tax return...which...I did on 4/04. I'm not sure about the dates for the letters though. For the amended tax return they gave me a wait time of 16-20 weeks.
I kind of feel like a muddled everything up with the amendment...but what can you do.
The thing is I went and spoke to someone else about the whole fiasco and she said we needed to verify our identities. I explained that we did but told me she didn't have it on file and gave me a number to call to schedule our verification of identity. Called the number to schedule and the lady told me our identities were never identified and that she would schedule a meeting for us virtually to talk to an irs person; not for the verification but for some other reason she didn't explain; and she told me to schedule an appointment to verify my identity through a different number. Called that guy for him to tell me that our identities were verified and that we would be receiving a new notice saying we had to wait 120 days...we never received that letter.
So...my point is...through all this mess. Should I wait for my scheduled appointment in which I have no idea what it's for but scheduled it anyway or should I contact a congressman/senate...?
Thank you if you've gotten this far...I've tried to condense this tale of woe and this is the best I could do.
My Cycle is: 20241305 if that's any help...

2024.05.23 23:11 BoxZealousideal3410 Terminating month to month lease nys

Hi everyone,
My husband and I have been renting a house since 2021 and have recently bought our forever home. I plan on mailing my landlord a letter letting them know we are terminating our month to month lease next month when I mail Julys rent. I will be paying for tracking on the letter to let me know when they receive my notice. I will be proving them with over 60 days notice and will be terminating the lease August 31st. I’m looking for advice on how to make sure my move out and lease termination is smooth and we stand a chance at getting some of our deposit back, any positive advice is welcome. We plan on keeping the utilities in our names and maintaining the lawn until Aug 31st. 🥰 Thank you in advance.

2024.05.23 22:47 ProbablyNotAFurry Starbucks Insurance benefits with Gender Affirming care

Hey all,
I'm considering seeking employment with Starbucks to help cover parts of my upcoming transition, and I wanted to inquire about how good the insurance coverage is. I have heard that during the last year their coverage concerning Gender Affirming care had been downgraded, but despite that it's still some of the best coverage around.
Can anyone confirm or refute that? Are there any other trans people who have recently made use of their insurances?
Thank you for any help in advance

Monetary Redetermination: $0 Weekly Benefit Amont? Monetary determination chart on Page 2 missing data? Here's the current Guidance
---Intro/Notes----
This doesn't require an appeal to fix, just follow the advice or ask for help
This is not resolved by calling because how the hell are you going to relay all of your wage data in a phone call? They need the actual data to be sent to them
You have up to 1 year from the day of issuance of the monetary determination to fix this issue

1. Understand What Data Should or Shouldn't be included

When you apply determines which fiscal quarter data is being used. Please. Look at this image from the ESD website
Why might this data be missing in the first place?

2. Understand what data you are providing

3. Understand how you are providing this data.

You will send them your pay stubs and w-2s as attachments to a message in eService with a single sentence requesting a redetermination and include the missing wage data
The ESD website and the handbook say slightly different things.

4. Understand that you need to force them to process this stuff

You will need to start an escalation to force them to process this information. This is the escalation megapost, click this link.. This is too much information and you need a custom walkthrough, ask me.

5. Understand that you will have other eligibility issues, like your job separation.

In between now and then is a good time for us to work on your job separation. Everybody needs to provide documentation as to why they chose what they chose in their initial application. There are no exceptions. If you try to be exception to this rule this will end our relationship as I cannot be involved In accidentally or incidentally helping people who are effectively committing fraud by deliberately misreporting their job separation type, some people make honest mistakes. That's okay, that's normal and common and I expect it. Deliberately hiding or misrepresenting your job separation issue is the kind of thing that, my participation in such an activity can get the entire community shut down on a cease and desist.
ABOUT PROVIDING THE JOB SEPARATION INFORMATION; "BuT EsD DIdnT AsK Me fOR this BeFoRe!?" - actually they will twice. They asked when you filed your claim to attach documentation and you probably didn't do that. Then you have or will get a fact finding for your job separation and that ask you to attach information at the end. Less than 1% of you do this. Do not attempt to try to gaslight me about them asking you. This will end poorly. Yeah, This sentence is a bit out of place and hardcore. But, if the claimants stance is to engage in an activity that erodes their eligibility or just intentionally doesn't do anything to support it, where my goal is to build the strongest possible eligibility case as soon as possible so you get paid as soon as possible, then this is in direct conflict with the reason that I am even here on Reddit on this persona.

----- Caveats -----

Did you work for an educational institution? Or were you an intern? Or were you at 1099 contractor? Or corporate officer?, If any of these apply you should probably read the following sections about monetary eligibility that are immediately after this section to explain why this could have happened and if it can or cannot be resolved;
---Exceptions/Clarifications for Basic Monetary Eligibility---
---Caveats: Employment Types, Military---
Other Resources
In some cases you can just simply not be determined to be eligible based monetary determination issues. If you are not found eligible there are other resources

2024.05.23 22:37 SoThenIThought_ Difference between FIRED, LAID OFF, and QUIT

Because of a variety of factors, some claimants may not understand their job separation type. Some of them truly do not understand that they were fired and not laid off. Some of them somehow do not understand that if they quit because their company threatened to fire them, that that is a quit and not fired and not laid off.
ESD, state and federal law require that you accurately describe your job separation type on your application, under penalty of perjury or fraud.
If you did not understand that you got fired and for some reason you wrote that you were laid off. That's fraud. We must fix it
>>>>>If you don't know your job separation reason then I cannot continue in this conversation in any capacity with you troubleshooting anything related to your claim<<<<
Please see this post that includes the website from ESD that describes this
Other clarification here:

----- Laid Off -----

LAID OFF: The action of the business itself caused determination in the relationship, such as
[This comprises 20% or less of all job separation types, but many claimants accidentally misreport that they were laid off when they were actually fired, at least more than 30% of the time]

------ Fired ----

FIRED: The employer immediately or abruptly severs the employment relationship with the employee/claimant
[This comprises about 60% of all job separation types, but many claimants accidentally misreport a job separation type other than fired because they do not understand that they can be eligible if they were fired - They just think it is an automatic disqualification, which it is not and has never been, ever in any state]

----- Quit ------

QUIT: The employee / claimant was the moving party that ended the employee / employer relationship.
[This comprises about 20% of all job separation types. But many claimants accidentally misreport a job separation type other than QUIT because they do not understand that they can be eligible if they quit - They just think it is an automatic disqualification, which it is not and has never been, ever in any state]

----- Final Thoughts/Rant ------

Some job separations are really messy, not because the claimant or the employer doesn't understand the job separation type, but because there was a bunch of drama or a breakdown in communication, or either / both parties were operating on a bunch of misconceptions.
Lots of job separations seem messy or are misreported simply because of a mixture of two major issues; 1) The employee/claimant doesn't really fully understand the difference between fired and laid off, AND 2) The employer uses very passive language during the termination conversation, or leading up to this, like during a pip, or even says deliberately inaccurate things (like "You should qualify / we won't fight it" - This is baseless because they are not ESD, They do not decide. ESD does. They don't need to fight it in order for you to be found ineligible if you quit without good cause).
Some job separations are somewhere between fired without cause and a layoff - It just isn't clear. Both scenarios are typically adjudicated as eligible, as long as you explain to ESD the extent of the facts that you know about the separation - which is why I have existing guidance and templates for these exact situations.
Lastly, if there is little or no chance of your eligibility, I will just tell you - then I will direct you to other resources that will still assist. If there is a large amount of information that you would need to produce to be found eligible, I will tell you what that extent will need to be. I probably have a template already.
And finally, You don't need to convince me that you were in the right or that they suck, I am already on your side. Most of the time I just need the facts. I just need you to answer a series of troubleshooting questions
As of March 2024, the law firm that is affiliated with our community and I compared a historical selection of claimants' issues and the guidance that I had provided and the guidance that they had provided; they were effectively identical and the law firm asked me to stop referring consultations in certain categories because our opinions / directions / guidance to claimants weren't any different. Even still, after our troubleshooting and prep, you can still do a free consultation with them to confirm.
I am here to help you. Because you are worth it. All of you.
