2024.05.14 09:01 PrinceOfNowheree They need to figure out how flight is balanced in this game before buffing it.

So recently both the Faerie wings and the Winged Sentinel Seraph got a massive buff by simply allowing their flight mechanic to be active at all times instead of requiring them to spend a resource.
This combined with the mixed races (yes I know they are optional but they are also super fun so it sucks that this ONE thing is what would make me potentially ban it at my table) creates a pretty big problem. As it stands right now, flight is severely overpowered, and it always has been in most TTRPGs, which is why flying races are the most commonly banned in games like DnD.
We all know the classic "pick a ranged weapon and fly above all melee targets" strat. There's really no counter to it besides building your entire campaign around countering it, to the point where the flying player may as well not be flying.
But what about rewarding the player for their choices?: I'm all about rewarding creative and clever ways to bypass obstacles, if anything I wish it happened more! But there is no effort required in "Oh there is a pack of wolves? I'm gonna fly above them and shoot them with my bow. You guys stay back here so there is literally zero risk".
Just use lots of ranged enemies?: While yes you can do this, it significantly limits the narrative potential you have in a fantasy setting. A pack of wolves attacks? Forget about it. A large bear emerges emerges from its cave after the party draws it outside? No, it's actually something else that can fly. No more bears. You saw eeligators in the Adversary list and thought they would make for a cool encounter? Think again. Just look at the actual encounters provided in the one-shot. Imagine the thistlefolk ambushers jump out and everyone just flies up and rains arrows/magic down. What are they gonna do? The vast majority of the adversaries (and even existing environmental effects) currently in the game can't do anything to flying characters, and that may change when the full game is out but it might also be foreshadowing what we should expect.
What about creative ways to counter flight?: Sure, you can come up with creative ways to create scenarios in which something insanely powerful is somehow not that powerful. But how many times can you contrive some way to counter the flying players? What's the point of flight if the only way it can exist is by the universe constantly finding ways for it to not be as useful?
So, what should be done about it?: Simple, there needs to be a dedicated section to flight, as flying can almost be considered a type of condition in this game, like hidden or restrained. If it works exactly how we all think it does, then there also needs to be guidance provided on how to appropriately balance situations and encounters around it, or even better, there need to be some mechanics built in to make flight slightly less abusable. For example: Creatures cannot make ranged attacks while flying.
This is just feedback to avoid falling into the same pit trap as most other TTRPG games have that have races with flight. I think the previous systems that limited the amount of flight time worked better, but a perma-flight ability is fine too if they can figure out a way to properly balancing it. Otherwise unfortunately we will need to return to "spend hope/stress to fly fort ___ minutes".

2024.05.14 09:00 panda_two 40 [M4F] #Berkshire UK - After someone who wants a connection, cuddles and adoration

I guess there's only so many times one can try this... Maybe this is the last time before the next time? :D
Caring, considerate and affectionate guy here. Looking for someone who is most of the time devil may care but can be super serious if need be. This is how I am. Super fun but not wreckless!
I'm open for it to be casual but would prefer something that at least has the potential to become more. As long as it is stated I'm happy for it to stay casual, so we both know what bus we are getting on.
IT guy by day and musician by night. Mostly guitar and sing but I play piano and drums also. So musical people definitely have an advantage but not vital.
I'm interesting and funny (I like to think so and have been complimented many times). My friends would describe me as caring, considerate and honest. I'm also in very good shape. No dad bods here, sorry to disappoint. People never believe my age when I tell them.
I'd like you to be on reasonable shape or at least working towards it. Sorry it's just my preference. Have interesting enough conversation in you. I'm very good at leading it but I can't be attracted to just a pretty shell.
I'm not much for online dating, the idea of people posting almost pseudo photos of themselves to raise the statistics are laughable. But no risk no reward.
Let's see how many actually get in touch. Real people that is. If you take a chance to chat and get to know me I promise you won't be disappointed. Just friends is totally ok too, we can just see how it goes. I'm a good guy :D
Open to anyone 18+ as long as you don't mind my age. I always get mistaken to be in my early 20s.
If you are someone who wants to be adored, admired and worshipped please get in touch.
Location can be trivial, more than willing to chat to people in other countries. Let me know what your favourite Pixar movie is and why. Maybe also include what your warning label would be if you had one?
P.S. Please do not respond if you don't have the EQ or courtesy to be honest. No ghosting also. Please respect this fully.

2024.05.14 08:56 droptheClothes This girl(20F) told me she’s not ready for a relationship but has still been talking to me(20M) for more than 4 months now. Should I ask her again?

last year October I asked this girl out and we went out, after that November December January, both of us were busy with stuff like exams or medical emergencies in the family yada yada so we didn’t meet but talked daily. One fine day in December she asked me if I was looking for something and I said yes, to which she responded that she’s not ready for a relationship. Post that we have kept talking daily. We next met in February and after that again we’ve been busy with exams and other reasons, now planning to meet again soon. May I ask the good people of Reddit what this situation is? She cares about my interests, asks me how my day went, remembers stuff about me so I’m confused as to what this is.

2024.05.14 08:55 Tiny_Juggernaut1602 Talking to this boy at work is bringing me UNWANTED work drama, and now I’m conflicted on if I should even come around him anymore?

So boom, I’m the new guy at work, as of rn, I’ve been there for under under 2 months. I came in w intentions of keeping to myself, because I am experienced w the toxicity of warehouse work culture. So there’s a guy at work, he’s tall and cute, turns out he thought I was cute too.
After weeks of us walking past each other, his uncle forced us to stop being cowardly and we exchanged numbers. So I think where I messed up at is not setting boundaries w him, initially. We just met and from the jump, honestly, he’s been a bit too touchy and affectionate, which I get because he said it’s his love language(mines as well), but we known each other for all but 3 weeks. I finally set boundaries w him recently, and told him we have to take it(and I told him this is a friend ship) slower. No more of the arm holding, thigh groping, trying to kiss me etc. because people at work talk, and I don’t need others in our business. Not because of our sexuality, but because I have messy co workers, and it would be extra frustrating if we didn’t fall through and had to walk last each other, and gossiping goes around. Also because Im still getting used to him. And he over sexualizes me and the conversation, sometimes.
So one of his “work family”(he has a LOT of them y’all, it’s low key a gang) came up to us. Said we were cute, but she didn’t like “this”, pointing at us. Except tho there’s no “this”, we just are friends, vibing together. Idk if they felt I took him away from them or what. Mind you this happened the second wk of us being friends(around the start of the 2nd shift I ever spent w him). And the rest of that shift, we kept getting(mainly me), negative energy/staring & ppl coming up to us. One of the fam was slyly asking him why is he he not where he usually works. And when I asked him about the unexplained tension, I was befuddled by his response.. He said they got the vibe that I’m ghetto, messy, super feminine, and the stuck, conceited up kind of gay. Sometimes ppl always have this annoying perception of me I stg. Mind you they don’t know me irl, and just @ the start of may, I was cordial and friendly when they spoke to me. I thought they were chill, and glad he had accepting middle aged people at work, that support him. Mind you, actually wanted us to speak, so the switch up is insane.
Today one of them came up and asked me why I don’t visit them when “my lil friend” don’t work those days. The one next to her was giving me a cold stare ( she usually does this), and then says “she’s mother”, referring to the one who questioned me…so now it’s giving this is some serious clique-y family” energy that I just walked into. My issue is I keep forgetting how fake and messy warehouse co workers are, and why my past history shows it’s best not to mix/mingle, just wrk and go home. Now I will say, he already told me he doesn’t care what they think, and he’s told them he’s gonna do what he wants to do, and I believe that. But I don’t have the time for work drama because of side comments and stares from those work family ppl TWICE me and his age(I’m 22, he just turned 23). No younger than 35 for sure on their end.
Should I put distance between me and him? Should I address their weird behavior? I’m leaning towards a friend zone, but not sure yet.

2024.05.14 08:55 Professional-Time-59 type me based on my answers to the questions! (warning: long!)

Hello! I am 20 years old and a female. I’m not very big on socializing and tend to be pretty introverted, not because I hate people but because it usually is exhausting for me. I try to look out for people and don’t like to tell anyone about my problems or feelings; I am also someone who cares a lot about people but doesn’t normally voice it, but would rather show it through gifts or acts of service. I like to pay attention to the details of things and people, and I often have a weird feeling that I can “predict” people or know how they will be/are… and so far, I’ve usually been right. I have a strong moral code and will always advocate for the underdog. I think deeply about things and tend to have a lot of empathy. I experience things and feel that I also think of things differently than most people. I have a hard time explaining my thoughts, but I’ll do my best!
I don’t have any kind of mental diagnosis that could affect my mental stability.
My upbringing was actually very positive. My family has been big on religion since I was born, but it’s something that I take comfort in and agree with. It brings purpose to my life and helps me to be the person I am. I have two parents who love me and take care of me, and younger siblings that I love dearly. I have cousins who double as my friends, aunts and uncles who have me over all the time, and grandparents that I love so, so much. Having many younger siblings did tend to get lonely at times, especially when they were younger, but it taught me independence and I do my best to take care of them. I count myself as extremely fortunate to have such wonderful people in my life.
As a job, I currently work as a barista. To be honest, I don’t really like it very much. My coworkers are very nice and I get along well with them, and I also like a lot of our regular customers, but my manager makes it a very toxic and negative environment that simply goes against my moral code. I also dislike the fact that most people that I see, I only see them in passing. I’d rather have few deep, meaningful connections that many shallow connections, if that makes any sense? I do enjoy the idea of getting to make people’s days, and I like to encourage the bashful people and love seeing sweet children, too! Both customers and coworkers tend to tell me personal stories, and I really enjoy getting to know them truly and seeing what makes them the way they are. I also tend to think sometimes that I feel a higher calling. I want to be somewhere truly helping people. I feel that I need to make a difference and positively influence people.
Spending an entire weekend by myself would be nice. I don’t NEED human contact, and can generally entertain myself without becoming bored. I do, however, find it a little depressing when it’s TOO quiet, especially since I grew up with my environment being everything but quiet. Normally, I like being near people, especially if I’m not even talking to them. Just sharing the space with someone is comforting enough for me! Overall, though, I do need to be alone frequently and tend to run away from life sometimes throughout the day. I would probably find a weekend alone to be really refreshing, so I could connect with myself and not other people.
I prefer activities where you work alone. I like to bake a lot, especially because it makes me happy when people enjoy the things I’ve made! I greatly enjoy sharing my food. I also like to read and can also write, as they both provide me with the an escape from reality at times. My favorite parts about both is understanding and connecting with the characters in the stories. If I have a favorite character, I like to think about what they think about and how they interact with the world. I feel like it’s something most people would find mundane, but I could do it all day! I enjoy being outdoors and connecting with nature, but I don’t particularly enjoy sports.
I tend to be very curious about many things. I like to know how people work. Not normally objects, but people. I find psychology to be extremely interesting, and could spend hours watching true crime investigations. If I see a stray cat, I wonder how it feels and what it has experienced. When I see a person who is upset, I wonder what happened to cause it and how I can help. I can normally tell quickly when something is wrong, and I am usually good at figuring out what I can do to help and am able to read people to understand the best ways to comfort them. It makes sense thinking that in my head, but writing it down sure makes it seem confusing!
Taking a leadership position is not my preferred route. If it falls down to me, I certainly would try hard to make sure the people working under me are happy. I’d rather make the people around my happy than the company itself. I’d like to be an advocate for their rights and happiness if anything was unfair, and I would like for us to be a “team” rather than simply a workplace. I’d like everyone to have fun at work and feel like friends and family. I know the world doesn’t work that way, but I can certainly dream, right?
In terms of coordination, I feel that I’m in the middle. I’d rather play video games than any kind of sport. I don’t have the best balance or coordination, and I don’t typically do things that involve having a good sense of either.
I feel that I am typically artistic, and have a great appreciation for art. I’m not great at drawing, but I like to write a lot. I also think it feels nice to express yourself through music. I’ve done pottery and would like to start learning to crochet. I enjoy looking at certain arts, such as music and books. My favorite art in terms of drawing is abstract art. I love thinking of the endless possibilities of what it could mean, and also wonder how the artist felt when drawing the piece.
The past doesn’t typically have meaning to me. I can be sentimental about certain things at times, but I typically focus my energy mostly on the future. I do things in my present life to prepare for the future, and I have a positive outlook on the future. I don’t like to think of the things that I find unpleasant now, because I believe in a good, happy future where the things that currently bother me will no longer be able to affect me.
I typically will jump at the opportunity to help someone, especially if they are in my family. I do my best to make people’s days, and I try to be of service as best as I can. I used to be unable to say “no”, but I have since learned to enforce boundaries and would never do something that goes against my moral code. If I have a lot on my plate and someone asks me to do something for them, I will typically tell them that I will help them when I can or if I have the time.
Logical consistency is something that I find important, but I wouldn’t mind making exceptions for certain things. I take comfort in knowing that certain outcomes will always remain the same, as I get nervous sometimes when things are unknown. Since I normally can predict what will happen with certain people or events based on prior experience, I find it both interesting and disturbing when the outcome is different.
Efficiency and productivity are not my top priorities, but I do find them important. I like to be efficient in the things I do, but I will not go out of my way to find the “best” way to do something. I like to stay a little productive so that I don’t feel as if I haven’t done anything, but I am perfectly fine with sitting around doing nothing, too. It’s peaceful. I don’t like being in a rush.
Controlling others is something I never do on purpose, but I will admit I can manipulate sometimes. I would never negatively impact someone on purpose, but I am able to manipulate a situation if I find something to be unfair. I’m especially able to do this with the way my mind sees connections between people and things, as well as the way I see into other people’s minds and understand their feelings and actions. It sounds scary but I promise, I mean no harm! :)
Hobbies I enjoy include baking, playing video games, watching videos, writing/reading, and just being around people! I like to share the things I bake, and video games are fun because I can enjoy them alone or with my family. Playing games and watching videos, whether alone or with others, is fun and stimulating for my brain in all the right ways! I much prefer to write over speak, as I feel I can convey things better and express myself through writing. Reading allows me to look into the minds of other people and I think it’s just so fun.
Learning environments are something I normally can adapt to. Whether a teacher is strict or laid back, I am normally able to perform the same way. I can understand each side and typically earn the favor of teachers no matter their teaching styles. I tend to thrive better in environments where things are on a straight path, but I do like to express myself through various pieces of writing when possible.
When I have a project, I would much prefer to start it quickly and finish it as soon as possible. I don’t typically “wing” anything, although I won’t be torn up if something doesn’t go exactly according to plan. I’d rather break things up into manageable tasks and prefer to work alone. I strategize pretty well, but for the most part, I use the strategy as a guideline and like to be creative here and there.
My aspirations are to connect with and help people. I feel a calling to do something and be somewhere that I can help people and understand them. I want to make a difference. I want to be a part of people’s passions and learn their dreams. I want to know the mundane things about them. I want to learn, but I mainly want to help.
I fear being left and not needed. I also fear being taken advantage of and manipulated. I feel that I need to work hard in order to compensate for these things. I also greatly fear having no one to turn to. Being alone is nice, but being lonely is my worst nightmare.
The highs in my life are when I can be around people who don’t drain me. That good feeling after someone tells you you’ve made their day. That feeling you get after you and your family beat the level of the game you’ve been working hard at. The feeling after you look around at your clean room. The feeling after you finally quit that toxic job, or the feeling after someone eats the food you’ve made them. For me, all of those things paired with thinking about and understanding someone’s thoughts and intentions make me happy. They stimulate my brain, and give me that “AHA!” moment.
Lows in my life typically include feeling helpless. I hate when you don’t know how to assist someone, or when all you can do is sit with them. I also hate when people are cruel for no reason. I advocate for justice according to my moral code and I stand up for people as well as what I feel is right. I hate when I think I could have done something better. When I’m upset, I become pessimistic and tend to isolate myself. I hate being stuck with individuals who are unfeeling, uncaring, or narcissistic.
I tend to daydream more than I partake in reality. I have a hard time focusing on what is in front of me, and I like to think more on the hypotheticals. I daydream and think in order to gain a deeper understanding of the world around me, but it causes me to miss some of the simple things right in front of me.
Being alone in a blank, empty room would cause me to think about a lot of things. I would probably think of how to improve myself. I might think of birthday gifts for people, or the next thing I want to cook. I could think of nostalgic things, or the problems I am currently facing in my life. I think I would mostly think on self improvement and the interactions I’ve seen between people.
Making decisions is sometimes hard for me. I normally will go with what my gut tells me, unless there is an obvious logical choice. I tend to be indecisive sometimes, and like to make decisions quickly so I don’t have to think about them anymore. I don’t normally second guess decisions I’ve made.
Emotions are a big part of my life. I like to understand people’s thoughts and feelings, sometimes to the point where I will neglect my own. My own emotions can take me time to understand, but I can read most other people easily. I base my responses to things on how others are feeling.
Agreeing with others just to keep a conversation going is something that I find untruthful. If something goes against my personal moral code, I will either leave or change the subject. I will always kindly stand up for what I believe to be right. I tend to choose my battles, but I will never agree with something that I don’t believe in my heart.
Rules, to me, are made to be followed. Sometimes, I don’t mind bending them a little bit, but I do feel that most people should follow rules the majority of the time. I feel that rules keep things in order and are an important structure in certain places and environments.

2024.05.14 08:53 Familiar_Hat9720 Better to pursue future in Mexico or attempt a GC?

My boyfriend illegally entered the states 3 years ago, and he personally has no interest in a green card because his plan was always to return home after making some money. Now that I’m in the picture and we’re serious about a future, he prefers I just go with him but he wants to be prepared incase I decide I can’t live there forever for whatever reason (however, it’d be in Mexico City and from what I hear, I think I’d be pretty happy 😉)
I called a few immigration lawyers just to get general info on what his options would be if we were to marry. Got all the usual responses, of course, but one lawyer said something that stuck with me and I’m curious if anybody can speak on this from experience. He said “I do want to point out, if your boyfriend is here, living comfortably under the radar, you may want to think about the fact that starting this process does ‘bring him into the light’ and there are always risks associated with that” I appreciated this perspective, but we’re in a sanctuary state and he has no criminal record or any issues here or in Mexico that would trigger anything other than the illegal entry, fake SS #, the usual immigration stuff. Just wondering what thoughts some people might have or any advice.
I’m aware of the longevity and costliness of the GC process, we’re both willing to go through it, but I’m not asking about any of that I’ve gotten all my info.

2024.05.14 08:52 AncientPC Thoughts and tips after climbing to 10k in 2 weeks.

Yes, I had a lot of time. I originally played this game when it launched during the pandemic and stopped at 1k trophies, and picked it up again ~3 years later. I want to share my thoughts about the last ~15 days while it's still fresh and answer any questions people might have.
I have a 43% win rate in 3600 BR games, and 300+ games with each of the following heroes: Angel, Bastion, Blizzard, Blot, Cyclops, Ghost, Levi, Lynx, Ramsay, Raven, Sparkle, Vi
I've unlocked every hero except Alice, paid for Blizzard and Vi. I have a full pg set and two skins waiting for when she arrives.

Trophy Tiers

Broadly speaking, the percentage of poor players decreases as you gain higher trophies. Being completely honest, I saw a bunch of mistakes made by enemies, teammates, and myself at 9k trophies. At 10k+ trophies, most of the mistakes I see are my own.

Low Tier: <3k

I have a second account on an old phone at this tier that I use to play under powered / rarely used heroes in casual games. It's mostly bots and occasional humans with rudimentary gameplay.

Mid Tier: 3-7k

People are still misplaying all the time, but in general are improving and trying to coordinate as a team. Pickup teams are pretty easy to create and people are generally pretty friendly. Honestly, I probably had the most fun at this tier since I enjoy playing the game casually with a variety of heroes and different team compositions (vs trying to win all the time).
There's still plenty of bots in offpeak hours.

High Tier: >7k

This is the first tier where it starts to get competitive. Relatedly, this is also the first tier I started seeing bad manners and griefing.
Early on when I was around 2k, I teamed up with some high trophy players and played in 10k games. That's when I learned first hand how much faster and aggressive the game was. On certain maps (Bank, Village, Hotel), fights will often initiate after picking up ~2 items.
As for bad manners, I'm used to it from playing plenty of other online games but enjoyed the fact that Bullet Echo largely doesn't have it. However at 7k+, now you get a lot of people bm'ing when they kill you, if two people fight over an item, etc. It most commonly manifests as sprays/stickers, but also a lot of head shaking and the occasional teamkill grenade for taking "their" item.
Pickup teams are a lot more mercenary. People join up, and if the team loses 1-2 most will leave; there's little to no chat banter anymore. If someone misplays a few times, they often get kicked from the team, the team is disbanded, and/or they get defriended. This, uhh, has totally never happened to me.

10k

The "end game." Heroes' power typically ranges 1650 - 2200 (Ultimate level 70 to Divine). There's relatively few bots during peak times.
The games are fast and brutal, and any small mistake is quickly exploited. My winrate has dropped significantly even when playing my better characters, but I'm learning. Pre-10k, I'd typically open 3x battle and skull chests under 30 minutes. Now, opening battle and skull chests has become significantly harder.

Bravery Road

I don't have any experience with this tier since I lack Divine heroes. Others have shared that it's mostly full of bots.

Heroes

Tier List

This is based on 9k+ trophy BR in the hands of a good player:

Bastion

Bastion is great for bot farming and low / mid tier gameplay, but is easily outplayed in 7k+ games. I had a bunch of Bastion friends that I invited to 7k+ games and they've always left after a few games due to being outplayed.
Outplaying Bastion is usually done through kiting or baiting and flanking with teammates since their range is too short and movement speed is too slow. Bastion (and Blot to an extent) is outclassed by more mobile shield heroes: Angel, Hurricane, Satoshi.
Leviathan gets a special call out since his turret is great for zoning and has extended spray that can be abused to hit behind walls.

Grenade Users (Firefly/Shenji/Sparkles/Freddie)

Pre-10k, most of these are terrible nade spammers hoping to get an easy kill. I've seen so many Firefly users use more nades than bullets in a round, adding little value chucking nades into thin air. Shenji users, please use your nades to zone the enemies and less about trying to kill them. Also stop burning the grass because you can, especially when you're up against snipers.

Vi

My win rate with Vi is significantly higher than the rest of the field, which shows how broken she is. Even in 9k+ games, the winning team usually has at least one Vi. I think she needs to be nerfed, and she's my most played and highest leveled character (Stellar).
I also have some bad experiences after teaming up with a bunch of Vi-only tryhards (about 6-8 different teammates for 5+ games each). They're generally incredibly aggressive and good at racking up a high kill count, but often lack map awareness or team dynamics (besides spamming, "Let's go!").

Tips

League

Climb as fast as you can, as high as you can since you get more loot per chest depending on your league level, and streaking gets harder the higher you climb in trophies. Bot farming (read below) is the easiest way to streak games and hit the next league level.
I think there is an argument to be made about staying in purple 1. I found it significantly easier to win most of the contracts at purple 1, but I was grouped with all the other grinders once I hit purple 2. This may or may not be a red herring.

Spending Money

Contracts

Star Pass

Technology

It's $10/mo. You get a random hero motivated and 8 drone plugins (2 of each color) per week, and 10 tech tokens/day. 70 tech tokens/week is enough to get drone blueprints, 2xpersonal gears boxes, some squad gear, 500 nuts, and 5 costume tokens. Also your name is highlighted in gold.
I think it's great for the first month or two for the personal gear and drone parts, but not sure if it's worth keeping afterwards.

Bots

Recognizing bots means you can adapt your strategy when playing with and against them.

Identification

Pre-game

You start recognizing the bot names after a few hundred games.

In game

Farming (BR, SvS, sabo, koth)

Bot farming is a great way to hit the streak for a league jump or grind for festival tokens.
I find sabo, SvS, and sometimes arcade in offpeak hours (or other region's servers) the easiest modes for bot farming.
Generally bots will collect a few items and start roaming looking for enemies. If a firefight ensues, the bots will start swarming towards noise like zombies.
The best characters to farm bots are those that can do a lot of damage without taking any themselves. Since bots will run in a straight line towards you, assault rifles and snipers excel at bot farming.
Recommended heroes: Bastion, Satoshi, Blot, Hurricane, Levi, Firefly, Blizzard, Cyclops Not recommended: Ghost/Stalker (bots are not affected by cloak), Slayer (fire rate is too slow), SMG users (can't reload fast enough when swarmed)

As teammates

It sucks to get bots as teammates, but if you understand their behavior you can take advantage of it to try and win the round.

Drones

Zenith gets increasingly valuable in 7k+ games as you never have time to revive and/or enemies will camp dead bodies. Zenith's ability to revive through walls can also be exploited.

In game tactics

This is already a long post, so I'll brain dump common improvements / mistakes that I come across. Feel free to ask questions in the comments.

tldr

I thoroughly enjoyed playing Bullet Echo, bots and all.

2024.05.14 08:52 Personal_Designer650 The Montreal Screwjob: Wrestling's Greatest Hoax?

The Montreal Screwjob. Could it possibly be the greatest Kayfabe of all time?
The Montreal Screwjob is etched in wrestling history as a night of betrayal and controversy. But what if everything we thought we knew about that infamous event was wrong? What if it was all a meticulously crafted work, a kayfabe so elaborate and convincing that it fooled the entire world?
A Conspiracy of Convenience
Imagine this: Bret Hart, facing an impending departure to WCW, needs a way to leave the WWF without tarnishing his reputation. Vince McMahon, desperate to keep the WWF Championship off WCW television, needs a way to strip Hart of the title without alienating fans.
The solution? A conspiracy of convenience. A plan is hatched to stage a shocking betrayal, a "screwjob" that would allow Hart to lose the title while maintaining his image as a fighting champion. The incident would generate massive heat for Shawn Michaels and the WWF, setting the stage for a lucrative feud and a new era in wrestling.
The Art of the Double Cross
The Montreal Screwjob was a masterclass in deception. From the secret meetings to the on-screen betrayal, every detail was carefully choreographed to create an illusion of reality. Bret Hart's genuine outrage and Vince McMahon's villainous turn were so convincing that even seasoned wrestling insiders were fooled.
The use of the "disqualification finish," a classic wrestling trope, added another layer of complexity. By losing the championship but not the fight, Hart maintained his reputation for WCW while fulfilling his contractual obligations to the WWF.
Flaws in the Illusion: The Emotional Factor
The most compelling evidence against this conspiracy theory is Bret Hart's raw emotion in the aftermath of the Screwjob. His anger, frustration, and betrayal seemed too real to be fake. The accounts of backstage turmoil and the locker room's collective outrage further support the narrative of a genuine double-cross.
However, could this be the ultimate kayfabe, a layer of deception so deep that even the participants themselves believed it to be real? Perhaps Hart's emotional outburst was a calculated move, a way to sell the storyline and ensure its lasting impact.
The Verdict: A Masterstroke or a Myth?
While the Montreal Screwjob conspiracy theory is undeniably intriguing, it remains just that – a theory. The evidence, both for and against, is circumstantial, leaving room for endless speculation and debate. However, even if it were merely a myth, the fact that it continues to be discussed and dissected decades later speaks volumes about the power of kayfabe and the enduring allure of the Montreal Screwjob. Whether a genuine betrayal or a masterfully executed work, this event stands as a testament to the blurred lines between reality and fiction in professional wrestling, forever leaving fans questioning what's real and what's simply part of the show. It's a mystery that may never be fully solved, but the intrigue surrounding it only adds to the legendary status of the Montreal Screwjob.

2024.05.14 08:51 Repulsive-Excuse-467 Is this dog having a good life?

Hi! I have been worried about the dog I live with. He belongs to my roommate. I don’t see him as a bad dog, just a reflection of his owner.
He was never given the time to be leash trained. He is very reactive to people, both in person and through the window. And, his bark is very loud. It’s also pretty consistent. I feel bad for the neighbors. I do know that a former roommate of this person got in trouble for working from home with the dog’s disturbance.
The poor dog is cooped up all day. He barely gets any exercise. No walks in the winter or fall. Maybe 1-2 per week now that it’s warm, but that is generous. No wonder he barks so much. He’s got all this energy. And all the owner does is yell and whine at home for barking. Like, how does that help?
He needs exercise and I don’t understand how someone could pride themselves on being a dog owner and not properly care for it. Makes me sad.

2024.05.14 08:50 freyaoe Wondering if I'm cut out for riding anymore

Wondering if I'm cut out for riding anymore
Hello all,
I have been leasing a lovely 17 y/o mare for around 7 months and mostly ride solo trails. My horse and I both love to canter, and I have seen improvements in both of us over the course of the lease. She used to go as fast as possible every time we'd canter due to lack of strength and balance, but now she has moments of wonderful steady cantering and sometimes gets excited and will push into a gallop. Our relationship has grown and I believe she does trust me and enjoy going on trails together- she gets sassy if we just go in the arena or canter down beside the pasture and back.
Now- the reason why I wonder if I'm cut out to safely continue is this. I have a health condition that causes muscle weakness amongst other things predominantly in my legs. This isn't all the time, just occasionally. I can tell when I feel "off", and twice now I have pushed myself to ride and suffered a fall. After the falls, I have made sure my horse is ok and gotten back on to complete the trail or whatever we were doing with no further issues. Besides this, I am an adult rider (31 y/o female) and slightly overweight. I rode casually for years on my friend's horses and took formal lessons as a child/teenager and some adult horse camps in the past couple years. I tack up with no issues. I can trot without problem and walk perfectly. I constantly ask for advice on my posture and otherwise from fellow riders at the barn and always look for advice or feedback from other riders. I get complimented often on how "great" we look cantering away from the barn towards the start of the trails. I feel like these are misguided because I ride western and rely on the horn to be able to balance myself while cantering or galloping, even on straight aways. I have been practicing, and I can canter without the horn on my friend's gaited horse no problem and even on my horse when she is well balanced in the arena.
However, this last fall (and even the previous one) I feel like I should never have ridden in the first place due to my legs feeling weak. I have also had some other close calls where I have almost fallen, but managed to right myself. I was in a canter both times I fell, and once I started flinging forward and loosing my stirrups I slowed my horse down and ultimately slid off the saddle. The most recent fall, the girth was too loose and the saddle slipped to the side during our canter and my horse was spooked by some birds who ran in front of us- she lost balance and I felt her weight go forward and she was darting back and forth- all of this ultimately caused me to fall off. My confidence is dwindling and I feel embarrassed and guilty for riding when I felt weak and not having a good enough seat or strength to not only avoid falling, but canter without use of the horn. It makes me so, so sad to think I would not be able to do ride anymore and enjoy the freedom, fun, and peace I feel when we are out riding. The pain and bruising from this recent fall was worse than the last from slamming into the pommel. No real injury, just my confidence. I just wonder if this is safe for the both of us- I care more about possibly hurting my horse or causing her to be nervous due to my incompetence. We have had so many fun times together and it would break my heart to stop riding, but I want to do the right thing.
I know it's difficult to give advice based on the limited information in my post and not having physically seen me ride or know more about the health issues, but any advice is welcome. I included some photos, i could not figure out how to add video of me riding. Thank you for reading.

2024.05.14 08:48 feastupontherich What happens next? I asked ChatGPT

When in doubt, ask ChatGPT right? Hope this is enlightening. Took me a while to ask the right questions.
1. What's up with LEAPS and put options expiring? Could this affect anything?
  1. Grasping Short Selling and LEAPS:
    • Short selling involves betting against a stock's price by borrowing shares, selling them, and aiming to repurchase them at a lower price later.
    • Long-Term Equity Anticipation Securities (LEAPS) offer extended-term trading opportunities with options contracts featuring longer expiration dates.
  2. Short Selling with LEAPS:
    • Utilizing LEAPS, particularly put options, enables investors to short a stock by gaining the right to sell the underlying stock at a predetermined price (strike price) within the LEAPS contract's timeframe.
    • If the stock price falls below the strike price, put options become profitable, allowing investors to benefit from the stock's decline.
  3. Scenario: 3-Year Put Expiry:
    • Imagine a scenario where investors engage in a coordinated short attack using LEAPS with a strike price of $1.00.
    • Despite concerted efforts, the stock price remains resilient at $15 after three years, rendering the put options worthless and foiling the short-selling endeavor.
  4. Unchecked Short Selling Tactics:
    • In a hypothetical scenario of regulatory capture with no oversight, short sellers could resort to more aggressive and illegal tactics to drive a stock's price down to pennies.
    • These tactics might include:
      • Spreading False Information
      • Naked Short Selling
      • Spoofing and Layering
      • Pump and Dump Schemes
      • Coordinated Market Manipulation
    • These tactics, if unchecked, could severely disrupt market integrity, erode investor confidence, and lead to significant harm for unsuspecting market participants.
  5. Additional Consideration: Massive Put Options Expiry:
    • It's worth considering the impact of a massive number of put options expiring simultaneously after three years. While a substantial volume of put options expiring could indicate bearish sentiment, it alone wouldn't cause a sudden doubling of a stock's price overnight.
    • The expiration of put options typically doesn't directly influence stock prices. Instead, stock prices are determined by supply and demand dynamics, company fundamentals, economic factors, and investor sentiment.
    • However, if there were unusual circumstances or market manipulation involved, such as a massive short squeeze or sudden buying pressure overwhelming the market, it's theoretically possible for a stock price to experience extreme volatility or rapid movements.
2. What else could cause the price of a stock to double up in a single day?
Thank you for the clarification. Given that retail investor buying pressure is internalized into dark pools and does not directly impact the lit market, let's reconsider the factors contributing to a 110% stock price increase and a volume of 2x the total shares issued trading in a single day, focusing on other potential drivers:
  1. Short Squeeze Overwhelms Market Makers: A short squeeze occurs when short sellers are forced to buy back shares to cover their positions, driving the stock price higher. If the short interest is high and market makers are unable to meet the demand for shares, this could lead to a rapid increase in the stock price.
  2. Speculative Trading: Speculative traders, hedge funds, or institutional investors may enter into large buying positions, anticipating a potential price increase. This speculative buying can drive up demand and contribute to a surge in trading volume and price appreciation.
  3. Algorithmic Trading Strategies: Automated trading algorithms may detect price momentum and volume spikes, triggering buy orders to capitalize on the upward movement. These algorithmic trading strategies can amplify price fluctuations and contribute to increased trading activity.
  4. Market Dislocations or Technical Factors: Market dislocations, caused by sudden shifts in supply and demand dynamics or technical factors such as breakout patterns or price gaps, can lead to exaggerated price movements and trading volume.
  5. Short-Term Catalysts or News: Positive news announcements, such as earnings surprises, regulatory approvals, or takeover rumors, can attract buying interest from investors and drive the stock price higher. Such short-term catalysts can trigger a surge in trading volume as investors react to the news.
  6. Lack of Liquidity and Market Depth: Limited liquidity or market depth can exacerbate price volatility, especially when a large volume of buying orders overwhelms available sellers. This imbalance in supply and demand can result in exaggerated price movements as buyers compete for available shares.
  7. Institutional Buying or Block Trades: Large institutional investors or hedge funds executing block trades may contribute to significant price movements and trading volume. These institutional trades can influence market sentiment and trigger follow-on buying or selling activity.
  8. Market Manipulation or Pump-and-Dump Schemes: While retail investor buying pressure may be internalized into dark pools, the possibility of market manipulation or coordinated buying efforts cannot be entirely ruled out. Pump-and-dump schemes, where investors artificially inflate the stock price before selling their shares at a profit, can lead to short-term price spikes and increased trading volume.
  9. Event-Driven Trading Strategies: Event-driven trading strategies, such as merger arbitrage or special situation investing, may prompt investors to buy or sell shares based on specific corporate events or developments. These trading strategies can lead to heightened volatility and trading activity in the affected stock.
  10. Global Macro Factors or Systemic Risks: External factors such as changes in macroeconomic conditions, geopolitical events, or systemic risks can impact investor sentiment and market dynamics, leading to sudden and significant price movements in individual stocks.

2024.05.14 08:44 djladyb7 Ati is an overpriced way to test you without any actual information on what your being tested on

Is this nationally (usa) required ??? I'm writing 30 concept maps for one course right now because I made a level 1 on the exam.
I had to write a whole system disorder on hypnosis. all the info given was that hypnosis can be used during childbirth.
Why is this site - that constantly crashes, is a terrible resource, is supposedly harder than the nclex, and contradicts our textbooks the fucking gold standard for the low low price of almost 1k.
I'm mad and seriously sick of this.
Why is there a disconnect between nursing school and the nclex ? Who cares. The fact that ati is used everywhere and doesn't give us the info is needed is pathetic.
Nursing schools should make us pay for simple nursing or something over this.
Sorry for the rant but tell me I'm wrong ?

Reducing Maintenance and Increasing Air Conditioner Life
Air conditioning systems face stress due to continuous operation, external exposure, and wear. Customers can extend warranty coverage, providing protection beyond manufacturing, reducing unexpected service costs, and promoting a sense of gratitude and stability.
Extra Care ensures the longevity of your investment by offering warranties and air conditioner restoration plans. Choosing an extended warranty can maximize the lifespan of your cooling device during the warm season. Here's how opting for an extended warranty can maximize the lifespan of your cooling machine:
1. Comprehensive Coverage:
Extra Care's warranty terms extend beyond the regular warranty to cover more grounds, including mechanical failure, electrical breakdown, or the replacement of components. This comprehensive cover is set in place and ensures that your air conditioner is shielded from any foreseeable perils, thereby increasing its lifespan.
2. Timely Repairs:
A broken-down air conditioner in the summer will be a pain since it will cause you to have a less productive or comfortable working environment. On the one hand, preventive maintenance is a must for increasing your air conditioner's service life. Extended Care's extended warranty plans normally provide these regular services for the machine, namely, cleaning, inspections, and tune-ups. Using these proactive approaches, you can quickly spot any imminent problems and make sure that your cooling systems run at their highest efficiency level during the entire life of the system.
5. Cost Savings:
An air conditioning repair becomes expensive, especially if huge parts deteriorate and need to be replaced. With an extended warranty from Extra Care, you're shielded against unpleasant and unforeseen expenditures. For a marginal fee in the initial stage of your career, you will be able to sidestep the financial malaise that comes with large repair costs, and this will end up saving you money ultimately.
6. Transferable Benefits:
If you are listing your home for sale, a warranty, and extended coverage can be a great addition to your home-selling purposes. Being Extra Careed has transferable warranty plans, which means you can transfer that coverage to new homeowners. 2024.05.14 08:42 UnluckyValentine611 AITA if I (25 NB) asked my (26 NB) work friend to back off after they tricked me into a date with them?

I (25 NB) met my friend (26 NB) at work, we have the same position at work and usually end up paired with each other. We get along great and have a lot of similar interests. I’ve given them rides home from work a lot cause we live near each other, and I thought we’d developed a strong friendship. They’ve worked at the company a little longer than I have, I’ve been working there since August. We’ve only been friends really since Januaryish when I got promoted.
Anyways they kept requesting we hang out together outside of work, I didn’t see this as odd because we’ve hung out together outside of work as a friend group, I have many friends at my job and we usually do group outings or parties, so it wasn’t odd to me that they wanted to hang out. The day they wanted to go out, none of my roommates were available to go with. 2 out of 3 of my roommates (25 M, 23 F and 25 M) work at the same business. So I went with them on my own, they seemed ecstatic that it was just the 2 of us. I picked them up and we initially just planned to go to the mall. We walked around, talked, bought stuff and eventually had lunch.
They kept staring at me which I found awkward but figured because we’re both autistic that I was uncomfortable with the eye contact or they just happen to make a lot of eye contact. They also keep walking really close to me and “accidentally” bumping my hand. After the mall they still wanted to hang out so we went to the thrift store and had a lot of fun making fun of the silly knick knacks, we both love Fallout New Vegas so they were looking for a jacket that looked like Benny Geckos from the game.
After that they still wanted to keep hanging out, at this point I was pretty tired but figured we were having fun. It’s hard for me to say no, and I use a cane for chronic pain so I usually need to take a frequent number of breaks which we hadn’t done yet but they hadn’t picked up that I was tired yet. I was having fun and at this point they did apologize about keeping me out for so long, I said it’s ok because I like long friendship hangout days, which is not a lie, my body just doesn’t enjoy it as much.
Next we went to get boba and they bought me a drink, at this point they had paid for none of my stuff, we split the food earlier and I lightheartedly threatened them to not spend money on me. When we were in the boba shop, they once again kept staring and moving their hand towards mine. I deterred this because it made me uncomfortable by talking with my hands which I usually do anyways. They were nice and listened to me infodump to them about tmnt (tmnts my special interest) but still continued their staring. I kept getting in my head that they were just being nice and I was ruining things thinking that they had ulterior motives.
I forgot to mention that they have a boyfriend (27 M), but they had offhandingly mentioned that they were poly. We then went to a gaming shop to look at dnd and pathfinder stuff, I had to pee incredibly badly at this point but they ignored my subtle pleas to leave, which understandably was my fault as I said I could hold it at the boba shop.
At this point I’m exhausted and in a lot of pain so I suggested we end our hang out after finding a bathroom. They still insisted on hanging out longer so I suggested they come to my apartment cause at this point I’d run out of stuff for us to do. This is where things got a bit uncomfy. My roommates were all home at this point but all left briefly to go pick up food. My roommate who I share a room with requested I don’t bring my friend into our room while she was in there, but gave me the go ahead to show them our room once she and my other roommates left to get their food.
I like showing my friends my collections whenever they come over so I saw no inappropriate reason to do the same. I have some Dnd, Fallout and Tmnt stuff I wanted to show them. I did my normal showing off my stuff thing. At some point I walked them over to my desk to show them my figurines, my desk is in a corner by my closet and bed so you can only go up to it from 1 side, I talked for a bit and noticed I was cornered. I have past trauma and hate being cornered, I kept making attempts to hint that I wanted to get out of the corner but they stayed firmly in place, even leaning with their hand on my desk to further block me in which I thought was strange.
Eventually I manage to slip by them by saying I wanted to show them my shelf on the opposite side of the room. The shelf is lower and next to my bed so I sit down to point things out. They then ask if they can sit down as well. I say yes and they proceed to sit down directly next to me, our thighs are touching firmly and they lean in on my bed with their arm behind me. I’m once again cornered and panicked now. I have a thing with my thighs where I HATE anyone touching them, it causes a violent reaction, my brain screams at me to bite, punch or claw anyone who touches them, I feel sick and absolutely enraged whenever it happens. I’ve been SAed in the past but even before that I had that reaction, my therapist says it might be a trauma response from childhood that I don’t remember.
I didn’t want to hurt them and luckily I have the violent outbursts completely under control so I just stiffened up and internalized the rage while trying to steady my breathing. They obviously know nothing about my trauma because we haven’t been friends for very long. So I continue talking about my 2003 rerelease tmnt figures and let them continue to touch me while trying not to cry.
Luckily my roommates return, and I immediately get up and leave my room to greet them. At this point I’m incredibly uncomfortable and wanted them out. But I felt bad if I suddenly kicked them out and I also was their ride. We decided to watch a movie in the living room, I sat in the couch corner and they decided to lay down on the rest of the couch while leaning up near me. One of my roommates picked up on the vibe and decided to join us for the movie, the other two sat at the table where you can still see the tv to eat their food since there was no room on the couch.
I decided to crochet during the movie to help ease my nerves. Every once in a while during the movie I could see them staring at me. Once the movie was over I offered to take them home. When I dropped them off they asked if they could hug me, I gave them a nervous sure, when they hugged me they put their nose into the crook of my neck which gave me the ick.
I’m not sure if it’s just me but I hate whenever I want a friend or just want to hang out with a friend and they turn it into something more without asking me! I’ve been notoriously “manic pixie dream girled” my entire life and I’m sick of it. If you want to go out with me just make your intentions known and ask me on a date! I wouldn’t have said yes but I think they knew that and felt the need to trick me instead.
I’m also incredibly turned off by the fact that their boyfriend just had surgery for appendicitis and is also about to have top surgery this week too and instead of caring for him they’re trying to get into my pants.
The whole situation feels icky and I’m so sad cause I thought I found a cool friend. They’re trying to get me to hang out with them again (even though their boyfriend is having top surgery) and I told them I have therapy and college dumpster diving on my days off this week and they’re trying to get me to work around those.
I just want some advice, am I in the wrong for feeling weird around them now or should I see how this plays out. I usually stick to dating women and other nonbinary people so they’re technically in the range of people I can potentially be attracted to but idk. I haven’t been interested in dating a lot lately cause I’ve been working through my trauma in therapy for the past year. My roommates also thought the whole situation was strange and uncomfortable. My roommate also asked if she had ever done anything like that to make me uncomfortable (she’s also amab like my friend), I reassured her she had never done that and that I feel very safe with her.

2024.05.14 08:42 JustAnOldWhiteGuy What to tell pdoc?

I made a couple posts here lately detailing some things I had been dealing with. I’m haven’t seen my nurse practitioner yet but I am feeling much more stable so now I’m not really sure what to tell her.
I don’t really want to tell her all of the stuff I wrote. I might tell my therapist but they might tell her themselves since they work in the same office. I’m just afraid they’ll all get worried when i think my brain just needed an adjustment period after changing my dosage.
I started tracking my mood like my therapist suggested but I might be downplaying it, or my mood switches during the day may have been counteracting each other, because it says my mood average has been a 5/10.
I’m sure the best thing would be to be honest about what happened but I’m honestly scared of what they’ll say or if she wants to change my medication again. My SO is planning on going to my appointment with me so it will all probably come out anyways.

2024.05.14 08:40 Ebrahim_Said_27 Trademark registration

Trademark registration is a legal process through which a brand owner seeks protection for their distinctive signs, symbols, names, or designs used to identify and distinguish their goods or services from those of others. Here are 10 paragraphs elaborating on trademark registration:
Definition and Purpose: Trademark registration grants the owner exclusive rights to use the trademark in commerce and provides legal recourse against unauthorized use or infringement. It serves as a valuable tool for brand protection, brand recognition, and consumer trust.
Types of Trademarks: Trademarks can include words, logos, symbols, slogans, sounds, colors, or even product packaging. Anything that helps consumers identify the source of goods or services can potentially be registered as a trademark.
Application Process: To register a trademark, the owner submits an application to the relevant trademark office or authority, providing details about the mark and the goods or services it will be used with. The application undergoes examination to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Distinctiveness Requirement: For a trademark to be registered, it must be distinctive, meaning it should be capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one entity from those of others. Generic terms or marks that are too descriptive may not qualify for registration.
Geographical Scope: Trademark registration typically provides protection within the jurisdiction where it's registered. However, international trademark registration mechanisms, such as the Madrid System, allow for broader protection across multiple countries.
Duration and Renewal: Trademark registration is typically valid for a specified period, often 10 years, with the option to renew indefinitely as long as the mark continues to be used in commerce and renewal fees are paid.
Benefits of Registration: Registered trademarks enjoy several benefits, including legal presumption of ownership and exclusive rights to use the mark nationwide in connection with the registered goods or services. Registration also facilitates enforcement actions against infringers.
Enforcement and Infringement: Trademark owners have the right to take legal action against third parties who use their registered mark without authorization. Enforcement actions may include lawsuits seeking injunctions, damages, or other remedies for infringement.
Maintaining and Monitoring: Trademark owners must actively monitor the marketplace for potential infringements and take proactive steps to protect their marks. This may involve sending cease-and-desist letters, filing oppositions, or engaging in settlement negotiations.
Strategic Considerations: Trademark registration is a strategic decision that requires careful planning and consideration of factors such as the strength and distinctiveness of the mark, potential conflicts with existing marks, and the intended use and expansion of the brand. Seeking guidance from a trademark attorney can help navigate the registration process and maximize the value of the trademark portfolio.
