It was a bit of a surprise to see that there appeared to be no dedicated Plasma TV community on Reddit. Although I do plan to comb the archives within other Home Theater oriented subreddits, this subreddit exists to unify some key info and to share some useful tips.

2024.06.07 04:15 Snazz55 Bedroom recommendation

Hello, I'm looking for a bedroom projector. Located in NJ USA. Budget is flexible if that makes a difference but figuring $250-400. It would be mounted on my bedside table, headboard, or the wall behind, not sure yet. The depth of the projector is 12-13 feet (distance to opposite wall). Screen size would be 8-11x 5-6 feet, projected into the opposite blank wall which is about 9 feet tall with a short bookshelf underneath. Use would be primarily movies, some gaming. 4k probably isn't necessary unless you recommend it. It'd be nice if it ran Netflix or android for our use case most likely.
I'm okay with used as well and saw some of these options nearby, if they sound any good. I'm just looking online in northern NJ at $100-400 projectors.
Apologies if I've missed anything. Thank you!

2024.06.03 07:30 MrJangles82 Upgrading Dedicated Home Theater

Hello Everyone!
Firstly, thank you to all the contributors and those that take the time to share their knowledge, experiences and provide thoughtful explanations. Based on all the posts and content I’ve read, watched and perused across the internet, home theater forums and groups as well as sub-reddits, I was able to narrow my focus and identify contenders for the components I’m looking to upgrade in my existing dedicated theater space.
Secondly, apologies in advance for the long post. I attempted to provide as much detail as possible to garner accurate responses/recommendations room size, usage type(s), budget, etc. all play a factor.
Thirdly, really open to suggestions. For the equipment, not particularly brand loyal. Been very happy with Marantz and Paradigm through personal experiences. Pleasantly surprised by the lower-end Polk speakers in the theater room.
Lastly, I very much appreciate good sound and am of the school of thought that audio is just as important, if not more important, than video. That being said, I am no self-proclaimed audiophile. This is why I am budgeting for a $5-6k Atmos 5.1.2 or 5.2.2 system, as I feel anything beyond that price point will be less and less discernible to me and more “clout” rather than actual wow effect by the sound itself.
Bought a home 2 years ago that already had a custom built, dedicated movie theater. Beautifully designed but consisted of old 1080p system and components.
Current Equipment
Projector: Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 8350
Screen: 100” Elite Screen (no clue what exact model)
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR508
Speakers:
I had been wanting to upgrade the home theater components but simply did not NEED to. However, after two years here, the Onkyo receiver’s hdmi output decided to call it quits. This is what ignited my excuse to upgrade and here we are!
Room Specs
20’ x 18’ (wall to wall x back wall to screen)
9’ ceiling height (edging that has speaker and ceiling lights)
10’ ceiling height in center
Projector approximately 14’1’ from screen
Cabinet Specs around Screen
Front Tower Cabinets: 42” H x 14.75” W x 15.75” D
Subwoofer Cabinets: 15” H x 14.75” W x 15.75” D
Center Channel Cabinet: 29” W x 9.75” H x 15 7/8” D
Now, onto the upgrades!
Projector -> Epson LS12000 ($4,999)
Receiver -> Arcam AVR11 (normally $3,050 on sale for $1,980)
Speakers:
To explain how I came to these choices…
Projector
For the price, seems like the logical choice given the specs, reviews and ratings. And really didn’t even want to spend $5k on projector but 5050ub was next best thing but 4 year old tech and LS12000 seems worth the extra $$$.
Receiver
Max budget for receiver is $2,500 and was deciding between:
Marantz Cinema 50
Denon AVR-X4800H
Anthem MRX740
Spent the better part of 2.5 hours at a local Best Buy with a Magnolia consultant who really seemed to know his stuff.
He said all 3 great receivers, did not have Anthem to demo but that he’d demo the Arcam AVR11 and that, in his opinion, it was leagues ahead of everything else in that price range.
He did an in-depth demo comparison using Kef Q950 speakers as the basis, set each receiver to same volume/decibel level and switched between the Marantz, Denon and Arcam.
I could BARELY tell a difference between the Marantz and Denon receivers. Marantz maybe more natural and fluid while Denon a little more “punchy(?).” But honestly barely any discernible difference. If didn’t hear one right after another, would never know there was a difference and would be equally happy with either.
But holy firetruck as soon as he switched to the Arcam, there was an insanely noticeable difference. I knew right then and there that breaking my $2,500 budget was worth it, to only find out on sale at crutchfield and audio advice for $1,980! At that price, absolute no brainer.
SPEAKERS
My basis for budget was a price point of $1,200 per front tower as an approximate max budget. The other criteria was that the front tower speakers would need to fit in the cabinets in wall! So, that further reduced the options.
Based on a ton of research, mainly in dedicated HT forums, FB groups and sub-reddits, I narrowed down the field to:
At that particular Best Buy, of the ones I was interested in, they only had the Kef and Martin Logans. I personally preferred the Kef’s…sounded fuller to me. I also sampled Definitive Technology and they sounded great but the ones I liked and that were comparable were too big for cabinets. And per the consultants advice, he said the Def Techs needed to really be out in open and not in cabinets to maximize them.
He also mentioned the SVS’s are great and would be comparable to Kef’s, maybe just a bit more “umpf,” punchy…
I have had Paradigm towers for years (Monitor 11’s) for an LG OLED TV setup and I love them. So, I’m sure id be very happy with the premier 700F’s.
He then started mentioning JBL but that they were more than the ones I was looking at.
Then we started looking online for pricing and discovered they were drastically reduced on Crutchfield. And given that they were reduced from $2,090 to $950/each and now less expensive than both Kef and SVS, it was absolute no brainer and that the JBL HDI line would blow both of them out of the stratosphere. He mentioned another local Best Buy has JBL Synthesis setup with Atmos and all the bells and whistles and he was thoroughly impressed with the soundstage. He also went to a JBL event at Audio Advice and was very impressed. At that price point he’d be between B&W and JBL but likely go with JBL because of the synergy with Arcam. I think something to do with both being owned by same company? Don’t quote me on that.
That was a lot and apologies for the long read. I just wanted to make sure to provide all relevant information in case might be helpful to others and anyone that might be able/willing to answer my questions!
QUESTIONS:
Thanks in advance everyone! and hopefully this is helpful to others that might be in similar situations and/or looking at similar equipment and speakers. Cheers!

2024.05.31 23:55 YellowLab64 Upgrading from ryzen 3600 and 2070. Wondering if this is a good build

Looking to play 1440p - many different kinds of games but mainly AAA. Looking to buy the PC in 2.5 weeks at microcenter (can utilize a bundle). Looking to stay under $2,000 all in including monitor. It's dumb, but I want it to look aesthetically nice this time (2nd time building). Case, fans are non-negotiable, would like a cool AIO but the NZXT has risen in price, so open to other options for that as well that are AIO. Looking for any suggestions on anything besides case and fans (so even the keyboard, monitor, stand, etc) , and also about using reverse fans (I have one in there but don't know how many I need and the best orientation for them). I am keeping my 1TB storage SSD and mouse from old pc FYI. Thanks in advance!

🔗Samsung Neo QLED 8K Smart TV - 85 Inch, 4K Ultra HD, AI Upscaling, and Dolby Atmos Sound

https://preview.redd.it/lzbmzc8hmh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b7b9c87f3a2b5064493f2c8ffb0ce971304d574
Have you ever experienced a life-size adventure right from the comfort of your own home? Well, Samsung Neo QLED 8K Smart TV has made that possible. With its stunning 8K picture detail and world-class 3.2.1ch soundbar, you can immerse yourself in your favorite movies, shows, and games like never before.
As a tech enthusiast, I've been using Samsung's latest Neo QLED 8K Smart TV for the past few weeks, and let me tell you, it has been a game-changer. The picture is so life-like and vivid that it feels like you're in the scene rather than just watching from the sidelines. This state-of-the-art television elevates every detail to stunning 8K resolution, which I've found makes a massive difference.
The audio experience is equally impressive, thanks to technology like Dolby Atmos, Object Tracking Sound+, and Q-Symphony 3.0. The sound feels immersive, whether you're listening to music, watching a thrilling action movie, or binge-watching your favorite TV series. The built-in Anti-Reflection technology paired with the Ultra Viewing Angle ensures that the view is superb from any seat in the room, with a consistent and detailed 8K picture at any angle in any light.
Now, let's talk about the thin, sleek design of this TV. The Infinity One Design is not only eye-catching but also practical, thanks to its attachable Slim One Connect solution that tucks all your cords and cables out of sight. It's almost like having a home theater at your fingertips.
But, as with any product, it's not all sunshine and roses. While the Samsung Neo QLED 8K Smart TV offers an incredible viewing experience, I did encounter some minor frustrations. For instance, the menu interface was somewhat sluggish at first, but fortunately, Samsung has since improved it with a recent update. Additionally, I've noticed that the built-in Wi-Fi connection sometimes struggles with maintaining a stable speed, which can be inconvenient during heavy streaming sessions.
In conclusion, the Samsung Neo QLED 8K Smart TV delivers an unparalleled viewing experience with its stunning 8K picture and immersive audio, all wrapped up in an attractive and practical design. Although there are a few minor drawbacks, they do not detract significantly from the overall experience.

🔗LG C1 77" OLED 4K Smart TV: Advanced Picture Quality, Innovative Features, 8K-Like Viewing Experience

https://preview.redd.it/qkyohnnhmh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=000439fb78e2e3eeccd716e09cffaf85180e81cd
The LG C1 OLED Smart TV is a marvel in my living room, and I must say, it's quite a sight to behold. With its sleek, almost frameless design, it blends in seamlessly with the rest of my decor. I've been using it for a few weeks now and can confidently say it's one of the best televisions I've ever had the pleasure of owning.
The TV's self-lit pixels give off their own light, resulting in perfect black levels, vibrant colors, and stunning picture quality. The α9 Gen 5 AI Processor 4K ensures lifelike images and smooth motion, making games and movies more immersive than ever. I've been streaming my favorite shows and games on this beauty and have been thoroughly impressed by the clarity and sharpness.
However, one aspect I've had a bit of trouble with is the software. The interface can be a bit wonky at times and has caused me some frustration. Sometimes, I've had issues with connecting my speakers and found it annoying when I couldn't customize all of the picture profiles I wanted. Additionally, the change from the old AI TV to the newer LG ThinQ AI has been a bit of an adjustment, and I wish it were easier to switch back when needed.
The TV's build quality, on the other hand, is impressive. It's solid and sturdy, making me feel confident that it will last for a long time. The OLED Surround Speaker System produces immersive sound, and the LG Sound Sync feature adds an extra layer of depth to the audio.
In conclusion, the LG C1 OLED TV is a fantastic addition to any home theater setup. Its advanced self-lighting display, AI processor, and sleek design make it stand out from the competition. While the software can be frustrating at times, the overall viewing experience with this TV is unparalleled.

🔗LG 77" 4K OLED Smart TV - Elevated Gaming & Immersive Entertainment

The LG OLED77CXP 4K Smart OLED TV offers a breathtaking viewing experience. The 77-inch self-lighting OLED display provides rich, deep colors and stunning contrast, thanks to the α9 Gen 3 AI Processor 4K. With LG ThinQ AI, Google Assistant, and Alexa integration, this TV becomes the ultimate smarthome device, allowing easy access to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. The webOS platform provides a user-friendly interface, and Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos deliver cinematic sight and sound.
In my daily life, I used this TV to watch movies and play games. The improved response times and HDR gaming make this TV perfect for sports enthusiasts and gamers. However, I experienced frustrations with the TV's WiFi adapter, which often dropped the connection.
The LG OLED77CXP is elegant in design, making it an attractive addition to any living space. The 4K display and smart features enhance every aspect of entertainment, providing immersive viewing experiences. If you're considering investing in a high-quality TV, this one is certainly worth considering.

🔗Premium 77-inch LG C2 Series 4K Smart OLED Evo TV with AI and 120Hz Native Refresh Rate

https://preview.redd.it/256047gimh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84e3cc579d52e02ebde0922292d9edd02554bb20
I recently got my hands on the LG 77-inch C2 OLED TV, and let me tell you - it's a massive, cinematic experience like no other. With its over 8 million pixels, it creates an ultra-vivid picture that's absolutely breathtaking. Add to that the multi-dimensional surround sound from Dolby Atmos, and you've got a full sensory experience that's unrivaled.
One of my favorite features is the AI Picture Pro and AI 4K Upscaling. They work together seamlessly to provide the best picture quality, even for non-4K content. And with a native refresh rate of 120Hz, everything on the screen looks incredibly smooth and lifelike.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks. The remote feels a bit cheap and could use an upgrade. Additionally, the stand may not be as sturdy as some would like, but it does a decent job of holding up this giant TV.
Overall, the LG C2 OLED TV is an impressive piece of technology that truly delivers on its promise of a cinematic experience right in your own home. If you're looking for a top-notch TV, this is definitely worth considering, despite its minor flaws.

🔗Samsung 77" Class OLED 4K Smart TV: Unmatched Contrast and Picture Quality

https://preview.redd.it/otlvymsimh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=526bf2c03208a41d4c5b35df2761ede96c4e0528
Imagine coming home after a long day and being transported to a world of immersive colors, contrast, and sound just by sitting down on your couch. That's the experience Samsung's 77" Class OLED S90C 4K Smart TV offers you. The first time you turn this beauty on, be prepared to be captivated. You might not want to leave it ever!
As I settled in for my first viewing, I was amazed by the sheer vibrancy and brightness of the picture. The contrast was so rich, it felt like I was walking right into the scenes. The darkest nights turned as black as my cat's fur, while the brightest days shimmered with an almost otherworldly glow. The color palette was nothing short of mesmerizing, painting every frame with hues that seemed to stretch from pale pastels to deep, vibrant tones.
But the experience didn't just stop at the screen. The audio was equally impressive, pulling me into the action as if I was really there. Whether it was the roar of a lion in 'The Lion King' or the gentle patter of rain in 'The Sound of Music', the Dolby Atmos sound system ensured every detail was crisp and clear.
One of the standout features for me was the 144 Hz Native Refresh Rate, which made every motion on the screen look fluid and natural. Fast-paced action scenes in games or sports events felt incredibly smooth, keeping my eyes glued to the screen.
However, despite these impressive positives, there were a few niggles. For one, setting it up took a bit longer than expected. Also, the remote seemed a bit low on features compared to other smart TVs I've used. But hey, you can't have everything, right?
Overall, Samsung's OLED S90C has become my go-to for every viewing experience. It's like having my very own personal cinema. The few hiccups are negligible compared to the overall joy this television brings into my life. Sure, it may cost a bomb, but trust me, it's worth every penny. If you're looking for a TV that truly immerses you in the viewing experience, look no further!

🔗Premium 77-inch 4K Smart OLED TV with Ai ThinQ - Refurbished

https://preview.redd.it/tg44bd7jmh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b21caab2518a8807e5f3ea83e7df394191b45894
Imagine diving headfirst into a pool of vivid colors, deep blacks, and jaw-dropping picture quality. That's precisely what you get with this stunning LG OLED TV. As someone who loves to unwind in front of an excellent screen, I must say, this LG 77-incher has taken my world by storm. With its incredible gaming capabilities, including NVIDIA G-SYNC, you'll be crushing the competition in no time. The self-lit pixels are the stars of the show here, giving you a cinematic experience you never knew possible, right in your living room.
But, as much as I love this TV, there are a couple of caveats. Setting it up might be a bit of a challenge, and it could have been even better with slightly higher-quality sound. The remote's build quality is also not up to par with the rest of the television. However, the pros far outweigh the cons, and this LG OLED certainly knows how to deliver an unforgettable viewing adventure.

🔗Durable 4K Ultra HD Ready Cinema Format Projector Screen

https://preview.redd.it/tadry2kjmh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e36ca5f6490045b0f6473c213ef9ae8c2c2e702f
I recently purchased the Silver Ticket 4K Ultra HD Ready Cinema Format Projector Screen and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. The aluminum frame not only looks elegant but also functions as a barrier against corrosion. The velvet material covering the screen effortlessly absorbs the projection light, providing an enhanced viewing experience with improved clarity.
Setting up this screen was a breeze compared to other brand options. The innovative Tension Rod System not only saves time but also eliminates any wrinkles on the screen's surface. The hidden rod system ensures that the viewing area remains devoid of shadows with a seamless and crisp look.
One crucial aspect I appreciate about this screen is the ease of installation. The sturdy aluminum frame makes it simple to mount on the wall, similar to hanging a large picture frame. The WRAPPED, not flocked, black velvet fabric effectively absorbs over-projected light, eliminating the need for precise alignment—a feature I greatly appreciate, especially for a home theater setup.
In conclusion, the Silver Ticket Projector Screen offers exceptional value for money and impressive performance, making it an excellent choice for anyone seeking an affordable yet high-quality 100-inch TV alternative. Its sleek design, easy setup, and stellar visual experience make it a worthwhile investment for any home theater enthusiast.

🔗Samsung Q60A 85" QLED 4K Smart TV with Dual LED Backlighting

As I sat down to enjoy my favorite show on the Samsung Q60A, I couldn't help but appreciate the stunning visuals that filled the screen. The vibrant colors and deep contrasts made the images come to life in a way that I had never experienced before. But it wasn't just the picture quality that impressed me; the Q60A also had a sleek, modern design that looked great in my living space.
Using the TV was a breeze too. Samsung's Tizen operating system made it easy to navigate between different apps and streaming services, and the smart features provided a wealth of content options. Plus, the Ambient Mode was a nice touch, letting the TV blend in with the surroundings or display my favorite photos when not in use.
Of course, no product is perfect, and the Q60A did have a couple of drawbacks. The viewing angles were fairly limited, which could be frustrating for those who wanted to watch from different positions. And while the visuals were impressive, the sound quality didn't quite match the level of immersion. But overall, I would confidently recommend the Samsung Q60A to anyone looking for a smart, stunningly visual smart TV that's perfect for a home theater setup.

🔗Ultra-Sharp 100" QLED 4K UHD TV for Action-Packed Gaming and Movie Buffs

I recently had the pleasure of using the Samsung 85" Q70A QLED 4K UHD Smart TV as my main entertainment hub, and I must say, it was an impressive experience! Right off the bat, the 120Hz technology and 4K resolution instantly caught my eye, and I knew I was in for a treat. The screen's lifelike colors and razor-sharp clarity had me excited to dive into a variety of content, from action-packed movies to sports events.
However, there were a few aspects I found to be slightly disappointing. At times, the TV's sound quality felt a bit on the low side, making me yearn for the convenience of external speakers. Additionally, the remote's build quality didn't leave the most premium of impressions, which left me hoping for an upgrade in the future.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Samsung Q70A QLED TV more than made up for it with its superb image quality and smooth motion. Its screen's adaptability and responsiveness were truly stunning, allowing me to effortlessly switch from one show to another without any noticeable delays or lag.
Overall, the Samsung 85" Q70A QLED 4K UHD Smart TV was a fantastic addition to my living space, and it served as a constant reminder of the wonders of modern technology. With its stunning visuals and powerful performance, this TV definitely left its mark on my daily life.

The VEVOR 100 16:9 Fixed Frame Projector Screen is a great addition to any home theater set-up. I recently used this projector screen for an outdoor movie night, and I was impressed with the quality and performance of the screen. The screen resolution of 16:9 and a diagonal size of 100 inches made the viewing experience even more enjoyable for all the guests.
One of the highlights of this projector screen is the PVC screen material, which provides high color reproduction and low reflectivity. This allowed for a better viewing experience even in bright outdoor conditions. The frame, made of aluminum alloy with a velvet finish, added a touch of elegance and style to our backyard movie night.
The screen is designed for wall mounting, with fixing buttons around the frame to secure it in place. The two hanging parts at the top frame make installation easy and hassle-free. The screen is also washable, which is a plus for those who want to keep their projector screen clean.
However, there were a few drawbacks to this projector screen. Firstly, the size of the screen might be overwhelming in smaller spaces, as it measures 91.8 x 53.7 inches. Additionally, the screen's weight might make it difficult for one person to mount it on the wall.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the VEVOR 100 16:9 Fixed Frame Projector Screen is a high-quality and affordable option for home theater enthusiasts. With its advanced features and sleek design, this projector screen is sure to impress your guests at your next movie night.

🔗Vividstorm S Pro Motorized Tension Floor Rising 100" ALR Projector Screen

https://preview.redd.it/osh00ivlmh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49f8b2c49f7f45c9442ed0f18b6d0395dc86c015
Imagine being able to bring the movie theater experience right into your living room for a fraction of the cost. That's exactly what the VIVIDSTORM-Projection Screen S Pro 100 inch Motor Rollable Laser TV offers. I recently had the pleasure of trying this out in my own home, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of amazing.
The first thing that stood out to me was the ambient light rejecting feature. In my case, I have a brightly lit living room, and I've always struggled to enjoy a good movie in that kind of environment. But with the VIVIDSTORM, the picture remained crisp and clear, no matter how much light was around. It was like having a mini-theater right at home!
Another feature I found impressive was the motorized rising system. Gone are the days of wrestling with a heavy projector screen. With a simple touch of a button, the VIVIDSTORM rises up to the perfect height for an optimal viewing experience. It's a feature that I never knew I needed, but once I tried it, I couldn't imagine going back to the old way.
But no product is perfect, and I did encounter a couple of minor issues. For one, the installation process could have been a bit more straightforward. I found myself reading the manual several times before I could get it set up just right. And while the screen itself was fantastic, the quality of the remote control left a little to be desired. It seemed a bit flimsy, and the buttons didn't always respond as quickly as I would have liked.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I can confidently say that the VIVIDSTORM-Projection Screen S Pro 100 inch Motor Rollable Laser TV is a worthy investment for any movie lover. It offers a level of convenience and picture quality that I never thought possible in a home projector. So, if you're looking to elevate your viewing experience, give this product a try - you won't be disappointed.

After trying out the LG 77-inch A2 4K HDR Smart OLED TV, I have to say I was impressed. The lifelike picture with its richer and more vivid colors is a game-changer.
Customization is a bonus, allowing each family member to have their own separate accounts and personalized recommendations. WebOS 22's user-friendly interface makes it a breeze to navigate, while the built-in access to streaming services and Disney+ is a real treat.
The remote was simple to use, but it would be nice if it could control a sound system as well. The OLED technology is the real star of the show, providing unrivaled picture quality. Overall, an excellent choice for a premium TV experience.

Buyer's Guide

Congratulations on your decision to invest in a 100-inch TV! This guide will walk you through the most important features to consider when purchasing a TV of this size. We'll also provide some general advice to help you make the best decision for your needs.

Screen Resolution

https://preview.redd.it/suoki0wnmh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b12821c4f074ea9e638ceb2deec32bee048ea7ca
4K and 8K are the two most common screen resolutions you'll find in 100-inch TVs. 4K has four times as many pixels as Full HD (1080p) and offers sharper, more detailed images. 8K offers even higher resolution and superior detail, but it may be overkill for a screen this size. Consider your viewing distance and the content you plan to watch when deciding on the right resolution for you.

Screen Type: LED or OLED

LED TVs use light-emitting diodes for backlighting, while OLED TVs use organic light-emitting diodes. OLED TVs typically offer better contrast, deeper black levels, and more vibrant colors. LED TVs, on the other hand, tend to be more affordable and have a wider range of screen sizes to choose from. If budget is a concern, LED TVs can be a viable option, but if you prioritize picture quality, consider an OLED model.

Smart Features

A smart TV allows you to access various streaming services, apps, and other features directly from the TV. Some of the most popular smart TV platforms include Android TV, Roku TV, and WebOS. Consider the compatibility of your existing devices and streaming subscriptions when selecting a smart TV platform.

https://preview.redd.it/fcxoluhomh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cd4e24e5e3f17fa5936087a1ffc179801bd18e6

Sound Quality

Larger screens naturally have more sound-absorbing surface area, which can negatively impact sound quality. Look for TVs with built-in speakers that offer clear, powerful sound. Some models may include extra bass or Dolby Atmos support for a more immersive audio experience.

Dimensions and Installation

A 100-inch TV is a significant investment, both in terms of money and space. Ensure you have enough room for the screen and all necessary components such as a soundbar or console. Additionally, consider the weight of the TV and any additional support it may need for proper installation.

Budget and Additional Features

https://preview.redd.it/ltq8r1womh3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af6326f3fcc9e8831e8f5db8f703910e3c07bae2
Finally, consider your budget and if there are any additional features you would like, such as a smart remote, voice control, or built-in streaming services. Balance your needs with your budget to find the best 100-inch TV for you.
Remember that every home and viewing environment is unique. Take your time, research the options available, and consult with an expert if necessary. With these considerations in mind, you're sure to find the perfect 100-inch TV for your needs.

2024.05.26 10:04 EclosionK2 I was almost drowned by a film

I was at the HRRFY.
It’s the secret horror movie festival where something genuinely fucked happens every year. And I mean every year.
Like, there are some screenings that unleash hordes of bats while the movie is playing. You're free to leave whenever you want, but the movie will still play for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Other screenings hire actors to turn at you and scream at some point in the movie. You have no idea when, or how many times.
It's a festival where the word "illegal" can't even begin to describe what happens. You're forced to sign an NDA if you attend. And you'd only attend if you were a young, stupid edgelord like me who was trying to prove he was hardcore to his friends.
Trust me. DO NOT GO.
You have nothing to prove to anyone. Don't be stupid.
If you really want to know what attending HRRFY is like. I’ll be quick and summarize the one screening I went to. It was the 20th anniversary, and I was lucky enough to get in.
***
I had signed up on the HRRFY darkweb forum (where I'm pretty sure my identity may have been stolen, but what can you do.) Through a series of cryptic forum DMs, I solved a sequence of riddles and was entered in the lottery for a HRRFY entry.
Lady Luck took a shine to me, because one day in my mailbox, I received a physical ticket. I had done it.
I was going.
The actual ‘ticket’ was a black USB key that announced the location of the festival the night before (which I won’t disclose here, otherwise I may be hunted.) I was pretty much forced to pay for a very expensive flight in order for me to make it on time.
You see, to prevent getting shut down, the location of HRRFY changes every year. Its always a small town you've never heard of, where the authorities can't catch on to what's happening until it's well over.
Upon arrival, I had to pick between three secretly-participating theaters.
Based on title alone, I decided to go see “Many Drownings” (directed by Oleksander Gołański—though that might've been a pseudonym.) It was in the theater that was furthest away from the downtown core, which meant it was likely the one where the craziest shit was bound to happen.
That’s what I came here for right?
I lined up a solid two hours before the screening like everyone else. The entire line was jittering, just vibrating with excited twenty-somethings. Rumors flew left and right.
“I heard they’re going to force everyone to take acid.”
“I heard an actor’s gonna run in and shotgun the ceiling.”
“I heard they’re going to disappear like four more people this year. At this screening!”
Each year people disappeared. And each year the same people were ‘found.’ And yes this is the worst part, and why should never, ever, ever go to this event.
Again I will repeat myself. DO NOT GO.
No one has ever truly gone 'missing' at HRRFY in any legal or physical sense, because every missing person always shows up a day later, convinced that they are fine—refusing to elaborate further.
The reason they can't talk is because of the intense NDA's attendees sign.
If anything were to leak, they'd be dead.
As a result, there are some small support groups for people who have family members who had gone to HRRFY, and came back irrevocably changed after being ‘found.’
These few unlucky people lose all semblance of personality. They don’t want interviews, or help, or therapy, or contact of any kind. And they never, ever want to talk about what they saw.
Some HRRFY fans think that these ‘found’ people were body-snatched. Cloned in a lab or replaced by a cyborg, or something stupid like that.
But I think there’s a far simpler explanation. The ‘found’ are still the same people. They're just terrified. They got shaken by something that shattered the foundation of their mind, body and soul. They got too scared.
They got HRRFY’d.
***
I should mention I had a cough the day I went. And I was worried my sickly appearance might give me trouble at the airport.
So I invested in an intense double N95 mask which I wore for the whole flight, and continued to wear even at the screening of “Many Drownings.”
It made my face hot and uncomfortable, but it still didn’t stop me from yelling “excuse me, excuse me!” as I ran to snag a seat in the back of the theater.
I always preferred sitting in the far back. You get a good view of the whole screen, and a good view of the whole audience.
Beside me sat a big dude named Sylvester, who apparently flew all the way from Australia to attend HRRFY.
“Worth the full Seventeen hours mate! It’s gonna be epic!” he dropped a massive camping backpack beside me, which I assume contained all of his luggage.
The lights dimmed, and the production company logos started to play.
The whispering, giggling and suspense all stacked upon each other to create an electric feeling in the air. I was giddy. It's like the entire audience was embarking on a massive roller coaster.
The anticipation was the best part for sure. It might have been the only good part.
Then the movie started.
It was a wide shot of a gray, stormy sea. The waves were massive, and the thunderclouds were looming. There was no land visible in any direction.
All we could hear was the sound of waves foaming, swirling, and crashing over and over. Lightning crackled. Rain poured. The camera held perfectly still over this storm as if it was mounted on a perfectly hovering drone. A drone so resilient that it didn’t waver at all.
I thought it had to be CGI.
The shot held like this for the next few moments. Everyone sat glued to their seats. Everyone was thinking the same thing.
What’s going to happen? How are they going to scare us?
People chuckled. People cheered. People wanted to tease whatever was going to happen—to happen already.
But nothing did.
Five, ten, maybe fifteen minutes went by without any change. People started snoring.
I looked beside me and saw that Sylvester—the most excited audience member of them all—had fallen totally asleep. The jet lag must’ve gotten to him.
Then I peered beyond the rest of the audience members and saw other people snoozing too. Heads were keeled over, some people were curled in their seats, some had even spilled out into the aisle and were dozing on the floor.
I looked above the bright screen, at the huge vents in the corner of the theater. I saw a faint white gas emerging from the vents.
Holy shit. What have we been breathing? I tightened the straps on my N95 mask, and made my breathing shallower.
The gas must have been pumping since the opening credits—because how else would an audience of two hundred people all fall asleep?
As I moved my hand through the air in front of me, I could sense the thickness. It was definitely hazier than usual. I took the scarf off my neck and wrapped it around my mouth as well.
Then I spotted movement in front of the screen.
It was a tall blonde man, wearing a black trenchcoat and military-grade gas mask. Beside him arrived six hazmat suits who started pointing at various audience members.
I slunk in my chair, pretending to sleep like everyone else.
Two hazmats walked over to the front row and picked out a sleeping guy in flannel. They lifted flannel up, under the armpits and by his ankles, carrying him between them both like a hammock.
The hazmats walked back up to the stage, where the blonde leader inspected the flannel man and tapped his head. Something was approved?
The hazmats began to swing flannel back and forth, as if they were getting ready to toss him. Despite their masks, I could hear a very muffled, very distant countdown.
Three…”
Two…”
One…”
The flannel audience member was tossed into the screen.
I literally watched him fly into the image of stormy waves … andfallinto them. The flannel man sank into the gray water like a rock, leaving a few bubbles and foam. A wave came crashing down. All trace of him was gone.
What the fuck.
All six hazmats began grabbing more audience members with much more urgency. It became a minute-long process where they would pick the sleeping person up, bring them beside the screen, and then swing-toss them into it.
How was this possible?
I turned slightly to see if there was a projector above me, and realized there was none. Which meant maybe there was no screen on stage.
Which meant … maybe it was a portal?
I tried to wake Sylvester by shaking him. I pinched his leg and arm a bunch.
He was out cold.
The hazmats started grabbing audience members from the middle rows now. They were emptying the whole theater. What the hell was I supposed to do?
I waited until they grabbed another batch, only a few rows down from me. When all hazmats had their backs turned—I broke into a run.
With my left arm, I tightly gripped my mask and scarf against my face, while my right arm vaulted me over seat after seat.
I had never breathed so hard—through so much fabric—in my life.
The hazmats all turned to me. “Hey! Hey!” But their hands were full with their next victims.
I ran all the way down the aisle, to the big exit sign on the left. My heartbeat filled my head. My plan was to dropkick through the exit door.
I imagined myself breaking through like some flying gazelle.
I jumped.
I angled my kick.
It might as well have been a brick wall. I fell ass-first to the ground, followed by my head. Of course the door was locked.
Through a muffled mask I heard a sneering scoff.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Above me stood the one wearing a trenchcoat. I could see his piercing gray eyes through his gas mask.
I rolled aside and tried to run by him. He lifted a foot and tripped me without effort.
My forehead bashed into an empty seat. It dazed me.
The blonde leader bent down and grabbed me by the neck, tearing away my scarf and mask.
“No! No!”
A sweet, ether-like smell filled my nostrils. I did my best to hold my breath, but I could already feel myself getting light-headed.
The other hazmats joined in, grabbing me from all sides. Even if I had the strength to struggle, there was no escape now.
Above me, all I could see was the dark theater ceiling, and some of the light behind me from the cinema screen.
Three…”
Two…”
“No. Please. Don’t do thi—”
SPLASH.
I was plunged deep into cold, wet chaos. My head was completely underwater.
Gagging. Bubbles. Spinning.
I fought for dear life, dog-paddling like a maniac.
Churning. Freezing. Panic.
For a second, my head popped above the water. I inhaled all the air my lungs could muster. I stared across a vast, violent ocean.
An enormous thirty foot wave came in my direction.
My whole body lifted higher and higher as the wave approached. I did my best to tread water. It seemed to be working.
Then a series of smaller waves arrived and smacked my chest.
SPLASH.
Spinning. Kicking. Flipping.
My view alternated between the pitch dark ocean beneath me, and the moonlit night sky above.
Again I swam to the surface, popped my head out. Ravenously sucked in air.
There was a small lull in the water.
Around me I now registered the other theater goers. Most of them were lying face-down or sinking … but a few were flapping about like me, fighting for their life.
And above all of us, a floating white shape.
It was painfully bright, I had to lift one hand to look at it.
My jaw dropped.
It was the movie screen, hanging completely still in the air. It showed a dark, empty theater. The exact same theater we all occupied moments ago.
It was tremendously high, above all of our heads. There was no way of reaching it.
Then I saw another thirty foot wave come our way. It grazed the bottom of the screen.
I knew what had to be done.
***
One of the theater goers happened to be on a college swim team. She was the first one able to traverse one of the giant waves and climb into the screen.
Once she was up there, she found a firehose in the theater and reeled it out to us like a rope.
One by one, we swam as hard as we could, praying to God we could reach the rope. Everyone’s energy was sapped. Your body can only sustain itself on adrenaline and fear for so long.
By some miracle, five of us got out.
I was the last.
I climbed the rope coughing and vomiting. I had swallowed so much water that my stomach felt swollen.
When I reached the top and they pulled me into the screen, I sobbed. I couldn’t stop crying.
My life had flashed countless times before my eyes. In bubbling, suffocating visions, I saw both my parents and my brother. I saw my highschool graduation. I saw my favorite Christmas from when I was six years old.
I had almost lost all of that. I had lost almost everything.
On the dirty, carpeted theater floor, I lay with my face down, savoring the fact that I now lay on a hard surface. God bless ground. God bless this filthy, popcorn-strewn ground.
Beside me I heard bantering, hugging, the wringing of wet clothes. Sylvester was the second last to be saved, and he was particularly vocal.
“Wooooooaaaaahh!” He came and drummed me on the back, lifted me up. “Oh my god dude! Holy shit!”
I sat on my knees, wiping the tears and snot off my mouth.
Sylvester clapped his hands, held his face and screamed some more.
“Holy shit dude! That was so fucking scary! Like literally people were dying beside us. Like I SAW people die!”
I nodded, shivering in my drenched clothes. “ I know it was—”
“—That was craaaaazy!”
He laughed and stood up, patting everyone on the back. He kept clapping his hands like this was some sports event.
“That was sick! That was siiiiiiiiick!”

2024.05.23 22:07 RoskFish44 Epson projection, Xbox video, Bluetooth audio?

I searched and didn't find an answer to this: how to send audio from Xbox to the soundbar via Bluetooth via projector
Just bought an Epson Home Cinema 2350 and paired it via Bluetooth to a Yamaha (SR-C20) soundbar. Any audio played from within the projector's apps (Hulu, Netflix, etc) to the soundbar works fine
My issue is when I use my Xbox series S via HDMI, the audio reverts to playing from the projector.
If I go to settings > HDMI link > audio out Device - I get options of either Projector or AV System. Neither option sends the audio to the soundbar.
If I go to settings > Device connections - it only lists something called "STI6110" which I assume is the Xbox? But no further options there
No combo of options I've tried has gotten the Xbox audio to the soundbar
If there's no way this is possible without additional hardware, I'll just use my Xbox headset
Thanks in advance

2024.05.22 04:35 EclosionK2 The Horrify Film Festival Yxperience

The HRRFY.
It’s the horror movie festival where something genuinely fucked happens every year.
You'd only attend if you were a young, stupid edgelord like me who was trying to prove he was hardcore to his friends.
Trust me. DO NOT GO.
You have nothing to prove to anyone. Don't be stupid.
Wait for the lamer film versions to come out streaming. That's what everyone else does. They're neutered edits but they're fine.
All they lack is the real gleaming thing everyone wants to see at HRRFY, but who cares. At least you don’t get traumatized. At least you’re not risking your life.
Anyway, if you really want to know what attending HRRFY is like. I’ll be quick and summarize the one screening I went to. It was the 20th anniversary, and I was lucky enough to get in.
***
I had signed up for the HRRFY mailing list, and joined the subreddit. Through a series of cryptic online emails I solved a sequence of riddles and was entered in the lottery for a HRRFY entry.
Lady Luck took a shine to me, because one day in my mailbox, I received a physical ticket. I had done it.
I was going.
The actual ‘ticket’ was a black USB key that announced the location of the festival the night before (which I won’t disclose here) and it did force me to pay for a very expensive flight in order for me to make it on time.
You see, to prevent getting shut down, the location of HRRFY changes every year. Some years the local police have managed to stop it, but for the most part, authorities have given up. What’s the point of arresting or charging anyone, if all the organizers and attendees actually want to be there?
Upon arrival, I had to pick between three participating theaters.
Based on title alone, I decided to go see “Many Drownings” (directed by Oleksander Gołański.) It was in the theater that was furthest away from the downtown core, which meant it was likely the one where the craziest shit was bound to happen.
There are some small support groups for people who have family members who had gone to HRRFY, and came back irrevocably changed after being ‘found.’
He ruffled someone’s hair then ran up to me with an open palm.
“High five dude! WE MADE IT! High five!
“Don’t leave me hangin’ dude!

He ruffled someone’s hair then ran up to me with an open palm.
“High five dude! WE MADE IT! High five!
“Don’t leave me hangin’ dude!

2024.05.22 04:32 EclosionK2 The Horrify Film Festival Yxperience

The HRRFY.
It’s the horror movie festival where something genuinely fucked happens every year.
There are some small support groups for people who have family members who had gone to HRRFY, and came back irrevocably changed after being ‘found.’

2024.05.20 02:02 Artistic-Club-1467 Where the fuck is IMAX?

Simple question. Emaina annukondi... About 13 years ago, 2010, 2011 aa time lo, there were movies like Inception, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1), Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol etc. Movies that had been shot for IMAX. Back then, we in Hyderabad had the facility in Prasads to watch these films in their intended format. The IMAX big-screen cinematic experience had become a staple for films in Hyderabad. Daani taravaata, ye cinema aina, whether it was IMAX or not, we opted to watch it on that massive screen.
Then, something changed.
  1. Interstellar became the last IMAX film ever shown on Prasads screen 6, as an IMAX film. To this day, every single time when there is the topic of theatres and Prasads especially, everybody in the city refers to it as IMAX. The road alongside Prasads is called the 'IMAX road'. Prasads screen 6 was the third-largest screen in the world during its initial launch in 2003 and people (film lovers) had literally flown in from other countries to watch films in their proper intended format.
Last year, films like Oppenheimer, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and EVEN Indian films such as Pathaan and Animal were all meant for IMAX. They were made - FOR IMAX. The whole point of IMAX is for it to completely immerse you into the world of the film. The IMAX screen is that massive, because anywhere you sit in the hall, it manages to cover every part of your two eyeballs, to a point where you have to physically move your head to see each part of the screen. I mean, there is a reason that it is a three-floor screen. Hyderabad is a single city, and the TFI audience is the one audience that I know who will stand by a film. Once we own a film, there is no way we will let that film down. I am only saying, why shouldn't we stand up for the theatre and the experience of that film as well? Hyderabad right now, is the only major city in India without an IMAX facility. This was all because of the conversion to digital projection. We used to get IMAX films in reels that were printed and shipped from the US (and wherever the films were made). When all these countries and major Hollywood industries were sending in massive, 11-mile film reels after printing, packaging and shipping, the costs were just too high when they compared it with digital projection. The projector that we had in Prasads was a proper film projector. A manual projector that didn't manage to adapt to the digital form. Prasads was running the IMAX theatre on a loss in the first place because the ticket price back then had to be much lower when compared to a proper IMAX film cost. All the profit they gained was from the commercial aspects of the mall like the shops and restaurants that were there at the time.
On top of this: there came the shift in location. The entire city somehow gravitated away from the Necklace Road and Tank Bund area. The main booming area of the city (for films especially) are areas like Gachibowli, with theatres like AMB Cinemas in Sharath City Capital Mall, Platinum Cinemas in SLN Terminus, PVR in Atrium, PVR in Preston Prime, and PVR Icon in Next Galleria Mall. When there are five theatres, in the proximity of within 5 kilometres from each of them, not a single one has an IMAX in them. AMB even has screens that are in the 4:3 ration, where IMAX films can be shown, in the intended size. Their screens, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are all 4:3 ratio screens which can show films that are filmed in that ratio. For example, I went to Barbie in Atrium mall, where it was playing within a box, within the 16:9 screen and then I went to Oppenheimer in AMB (to at least watch it in their screen 1, to compensate for IMAX), when I peaked into the next screen (screen 2), where Barbie was playing, The size of the screen was compatible with the aspect ratio that it was shot in - 4:3.
All over India right now (at least in major cities, excluding Hyderabad), PVR has created IMAX screens, but they are all digital IMAX screens that are 68.1 ft wide. Prasads has a 70mm IMAX screen (95 feet wide and 71 feet tall). This is the normal height of a five floor, commercial building. Just imagine that. It is a window into a whole another world. When we have a screen, we do not have the projector, and when others have the projectors, they simply just do not have the screens.
Here is the simple question to conclude it...
Do we want IMAX in Hyderabad, yes or no?

Please help! 3 issues with LCD projector (EPSON PowerLite Home Cinema 3020)
Please help me understand what is causing each of these issues and any ways I could fix them!
EPSON PowerLite Home Cinema 3020. I've had it for a few years, without issues most of the time.
Issue #1: in the last 24 hours, the whole screen has turned blue — I can still see what the input is supplying but everything is extremely blue. I tried changing display settings and specific color levels and everything stayed very blue, with some slight shifts if any as I changed settings. Pictures are from when I reset the display settings.
Issue #2: for the past 2-3 months, there has been a vertical line of pixels that only show the blue portion of what should be displayed. The line is a few pixels wide and extends throughout the screen vertically. It sometimes goes away and sometimes comes back — it's present most of the time.
Issue #3: over the past 6 months or so, the edges of the screen and the edges of images on the screen are bluish on one side and reddish on the other side — like red/blue 3d video. It seems like something has slightly shifted over time and is just a little out of alignment. I could still see images and text clearly enough to keep watching stuff on it despite this issue.

2024.05.17 14:36 HotNutellaNipple How much would my PC be worth selling for?

Bought this about 6 months ago so not much usage and assembled by a proper gaming computer shop as well. And yes they put a typo for the PSU it's 1,500 watts. Cheers!
