I’m not a big Marvel fan but was really excited for Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) Marvel had kinda been drifting aimlessly after Endgame with the tv shows and movies and this one was a layup to get the franchise back on track.
Unbelievable cast with Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Russell Crowe. Also cameos from Damon, Bautista and Pratt. The movie was a piping hot dumpster fire, Taika Waititi got weird with it.

Hope DeAngelo is a beacon of goodness in a volatile world that darkness seeks to destroy.
Hope barely survived her birth five years ago. The misdeeds of a crazed, homophobic zealot caused her mother’s death, left Hope handicapped, and provided the evidence that wrongly convicted her father of the rampage.
After Hope’s tragic beginnings, Robert DeAngelo, her great uncle, and his flamboyant life partner, Nigel Nobleton, readily opened their loving home to help raise her. Aunt Nigel, as Hope refers to him, is a former English stage actor and the Flaming Glow. He created the superhero persona, adorned with a rainbow cape, for entertaining Hope and to cheer up children suffering from painful and life threating conditions at the local hospital.
Tragedy has upended Hope’s life once again and threatens not only hers but the lives of everyone she loves. Her miraculous birth provided the fragile angel with a special power unbeknownst to her family. Hope can influence the souls of the living and through this gift she thwarts the elaborate murderous plans of the same crazed zealot that fate has brought back into her life. By exercising her powers, she saved hundreds of lives at an outdoor celebration but also inadvertently captured the unwanted attention of a darker force with an insatiable appetite for extreme hate and violent death occurrences on its bloodstained soil. The evil entity has thrived on this type of carnage for centuries and now its hunger has been prolonged by Hope’s interference and along with the zealot it seeks revenge.
Hope’s family along with their colorful friends, a priest, and the police remain steadfast in protecting her from the two relentless adversaries out to destroy her. But with conflict between these diverse characters and a supernatural, cunning evil with a greater power than they are prepared for in the hunt for Hope’s life and the lives of anyone who interferes, the fragile angel must also rely on her own hidden powers to survive and protect the ones she loves.
A FRAGILE ANGEL AND THE FLAMING GLOW is a fast paced ~93000-word thriller, with supernatural undertones~ which presents current societal issues. Humor is also present throughout the story, despite its heavy theme, very much balancing emotional drama with light-hearted humor, like what Taika Waititi wrote and directed in JOJO RABBIT. It will appeal to fans of Dean Koontz’s books with thriller and supernatural genre combinations and readers of Caleb Stephens’ THE GIRLS IN THE CABINS.

So for those who don’t know, Taika Waititi is the director behind Jojo Rabbit (the movie about the N*zi kid with an imaginary best friend who’s Hitler), Thor: Ragnarok, and What We Do in the Shadows.
During promotion of the film Jojo Rabbit (a movie where Taika Waititi plays Hitler) Taika really played up his Jewishness, and mentioned being a Jewish filmmaker many times throughout press interviews. His promotion of this film is the main reason people know he has any Jewish ancestry at all. Here’s the thing though, he’s only 1/8th Jewish. His maternal Great-Grandfather is Jewish, but his other 7 great-grandparents are gentiles. His father is Polynesian, of Te Whānau-ā-Apanui decent, and his mother has one Jewish grandfather while her other 3 grandparents being of gentile European ancestry. He has confirmed he did not grow up in a househood that practiced any kind of Judaism. But I guess he see’s being 1/8th Jewish as enough for him to flatly call himself Jewish in interviews, and I’m curious what other’s think of this.
For the record, I don’t really have a hard opinion on him self-identifying as Jewish, which is why I wanted to make this post. I want to get others perspectives. How do you feel about a celebrity who’s only 1/8th Jewish flatly calling themself a Jew?
