From wrist pain to numbness in the right side of my body, now spreading toward my left

2024.04.27 10:34 kirinda_ondo From wrist pain to numbness in the right side of my body, now spreading toward my left

28F/5'11/300 lb/White
Taking Nebivolol 5mg, Desloratadine 5mg, slynd 28 day tablets, otc iron and b12
Have been previously diagnosed with tachycardia, high blood pressure, PCOS, Anxiety and depression
No drinking/smoking/drugs
This is sort of a weird timeline of events, and I'm not sure if it's all related or if it's two different things happening at the same time, but about three weeks ago now on a Saturday night, I managed to pull something in my right wrist. I was stirring batter for a cake and it felt like I pulled something because I was suddenly in a lot of pain. I Tried to rest my wrist and take some ibuprofen, but the next day it didn't go away, so I made an appointment with my GP to make sure I wasn't dealing with something like carpal tunnel syndrome because at the time, I was experiencing numbness in my hands and fingers and wrist as well as pain. I made an appointment with my GP the following Monday, but because I couldn't be seen for another week, I decided to go to the urgent care while I waited, and I was diagnosed very quickly with tendonitis. They weren't very thorough, so I don't know how accurate that was, but they gave me a steroid injection and some diclofenac potassium 50 mg tablets.
And that seemed to be helping for a little bit, but then I started feeling more pain and numbness going up my arm and through my shoulder. Then I started feeling numbness and pain in my left hand shooting up my arm, but not all the way up to my shoulder and not nearly as severely. I suspect this one is from some kind of strain from trying to make up for my lack of my dominant right hand, but I'm not sure, I couldn't get anyone to actually pay attention to that wrist.
By Friday, things were starting to feel better for the most part, I was still experiencing some numbness in my arms and hands, but the pain was mostly gone. That evening, however I started noticing that my right leg was feeling numb, and I thought it was falling asleep because I was laying weird, but despite changing my position, I wasn't feeling any different. I go to bed not thinking too much of it because it's really mild and not super noticeable unless I'm like actively paying attention to it, but when I wake up the next morning on Saturday, I notice that the whole right side of my body from my head to my toe is completely numb. Not quite like pins and needles numb, except for the back of my head, but like a partial loss of sensation.
I tried moving around, I tried different stretches because I figured maybe I slept really, really weird somehow, but after about an hour, it still wasn't going away, so I went to the ER. They did an X ray on my wrists, they didn't find anything, they did a CT scan, and they didn't find anything there either, so they gave me one of those medrol packs and sent me on my way with a referral to a neurologist. However, due to several issues in trying to get ahold of the neurologist, or any neurologist, I haven't been able to make a proper appointment yet. In the meantime, things have stayed relatively stable until yesterday around 2:00, where suddenly I noticed that the whole rest of my body feels numb outside of a couple of areas like in my left leg, but most notably, my chest and stomach, as well as in the back of my head. Suddenly, I found myself with a headache and my head feeling not quite dizzy, but fuzzy, it's hard to explain but it was an extremely uncomfortable feeling. I left work early and went to the ER again, but they were being dismissive and not taking my concerns seriously, so after an absurdly long wait time, I just gave up and went home, because I figured if I wasn't dying after that long without help, I could at least be uncomfortable at home.
Cut to today, my headache's gone away, but the back of my head, neck, and upper back are feeling intensely like pins and needles, while the rest of my body, with the exception of a couple places in my left leg and the left side of my face is varying degrees of numbness that comes and goes (at least on the left side). The right side is much worse and far more consistent, to the point that even inside of my ear feels numb, but I'm not in any pain beyond a bit of lingering wrist pain. I can sit, stand, and walk normally, turn my head, and grip things without an issue. I'm not experiencing any sort of cognitive effects or face slouching. I'm just numb, and the fact that it's spreading the way it is scares me.
I don't know if it's a pinched nerve somewhere, a bunch of pinched nerves, or something more serious, but I made a diagram to show my neurologist whenever I can get that appointment, so maybe they can look at it and go, "ah, that looks like ___!" I then also updated it to where the numbness had spread yesterday. If anyone qualified can point me in some type of direction for what this might be and what I might be able to do for it as I try to get someone to give me an appointment, that would be great. Links to said diagrams will be in the comments.

2024.04.04 22:17 mclougb6 Experience taking Pregabalin?

Hi all,
I've (33m) been suffering with severe health anxiety since about February 2021(when Covid / restrictions were at their peak in Ireland) and in recent times - probably since October last year, but peaking in early December - began having new and more severe physical manifestations: Head pressure; panic attacks that started out infrequent but ended up almost daily - the first time I had one I was in work and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance because I thought it was a heart attack - I suffer with PVCs / ectopics - which began around the time of the initial anxiety flair up but have been living with them since, and of course they've been feeding into the anxiety and into the cycle we go! (despite multiple echos / stress tests / holter monitors & consultations - i can't shake the thought that the pvcs are going to kill me / are a sign for something sinister and serious!)

In December 2023, after the panic attacks began I went to my GP and he started me on 15MG of Mirtazapine (since been upped to 30mg) once daily before bed as he felt I'dd slipped into a depression towards the back end of last year - which I now agree with having seen massive improvements - and in relation to the PVCs I've been on Nebivolol (1.25 - 2.5mg daily) for about a year and a half. Also, since December have been prescribed low dose diazepam (2mg tablets) to take as needed - I've restricted use to only 1mg and have tried to keep it infrequent, maybe once a week or so

My main issues at present stems around anxiety. The Mirt has done so much for my mood and general wellbeing, with a massive reduction in panic attacks, but my anxiety can still be absolutely crippling - and it's during those times i turn to the diazepam - but I'm acutely aware of the long term implications of benzos, so am considering speaking to my GP about starting something like Pregabalin given my cardiologist specifically wants me on Nebivolol meaning I can't turn to the likes of Atenolol / Propranolol for the anxiety symptoms (we tried Propranolol initially for the PVCs but Nebivolol was a much better fit / far more successful). From a cursory google search it seems like Pregabalin may be something that could help me and replace the need for the Diazepam so I guess I'm wondering if anyone here has been prescribed it previously / currently take it for their anxiety and would love to hear your experience of it

Sorry for the long post!
tldr: Terrible anxiety - anyone take or has taken pregabalin and could provide some insight on their experience?

2024.03.10 14:28 Other_Excitement7051 Should I increase my beta-blocker dose and magnesium dose?

I have been dealing with PVCs for 6 years. My PVCs responded well to Diltiazem but I also have POTS with orthostatic hypertension which only responds to beta-blockers ( Nebivolol). So I have to be on a beta blocker to function. 2 days ago I had my first triplet and I Was so terrified. I texted my cardiologist who said I could increase my beta blocker dose from 5mg to 7.5mg if I wanted to. Did anyone see benefits from increasing their BB dose? I also take 2 magnesium tablets daily and plan to increase it to 4 tablets daily. I want to get rid of the PVCs so bad.

2024.01.10 11:54 ChocolateNo9782 Beta blocker dosing

Age:23 Gender:male Medications: paxil, Telmisartan, amloy, nebivolol Hey guys, so my question is a strange one, I'm just very curious about this. So I'm taking paroxetine for anxiety, and also take the beta blocker nebivolol. The paroxetine is metabolized by the same enzyme (cyp2d6) and increases the levels of nebivolol in your system so a read a study when taking with paroxetine the (AUC) was increased a 6 fold. So if I'm taking 2.5mg , I'm really taking 12.5? So just say without the paroxetine my target dose was 10, but I can't take a 10mg tablet with paroxetine otherwise it's to strong, will I still get the all the same benefits of taking the low dose but replying on the paroxetine to increase the levels? It definitely does btw 2.5 feels so much stronger than when I took it without paroxetine. Nebivolol is a good beta blocker with great benefits on the cv system in patients with hypertension and just want to know if I'm getting the same benefits with taking the low dose but with the paroxetine increasing the levels.

2023.09.22 23:08 urbancirca Does anybody take Nebivodol for panic attacks?

Today is my first day taking 5mg of Nebivolol/Bystolic. I have noticed my heart rate is a big trigger for my panic attacks especially after exercise because it stays elevated at around 92-96 even when sitting down.
My blood pressure yesterday was 116/87 and that was while I was on the verge of a panic attack and my heart rate was 122.
Hopefully it will help bring my heart rate down I'm taking it in the mornings because by the night time I feel pretty relaxed.
My morning Resting heart rate is usually around 68-73, and will be at 80-84 during the day sitting, and it goes up to 170 while jogging sometimes.

I am a 32 year old caucasian Male to Female trans woman. I am 5'6, 185lbs. I live in Florida, so my average humidity is at least 50%, sometimes more, even indoors.
For the couple years, I start sweating even when not doing anything strenuous. Not obscene amounts of sweating, but enough to be uncomfortable. Particularly my forehead, face and neck. Even when the room is 72-75 degrees F.
I had a pacemaker put in due to a vagal nerve issue, coupled with SVTs. I also take a beta blocker to help with the SVTs. My SVT count went from about 3000 a month to about 12 per month after established with the medication. It's 5mg Bystolic/Nebivolol.
I also take the standard array of transgender MtF HRT, 8mg per day of Estradiol, 100mg of Spironolactone, 100mg of Progesterone. I am also on 100mg of Sertraline.
I am a caffeine addict and probably ingest around 200g of sugar and 260mg of Caffeine per day. I try and drink 8-12floz of water per soda that I drink in a given day to not be dehydrated.
My resting heart rate is around 65-70bpm, blood pressure is typically between 110/80 and 115/85.
Am I destined to just be gross and sweaty?

2023.06.01 11:20 georgi_19993 Is it panick attack or Heart Condition? Need an advice.

Hello guys.

I started this year with good health and one thought: Tio start going to fitness in order to get back to my fitness body level and start feeling more active and good.
It was 24th of February and I returned from a 1 hour Gym cario session. Get a shower and with my wife started waching a movie on the TV. I was realxing and watching a fine movie and then suddenly I get cold sweats, got two extrasystoles which I felt like my hert stops and then starts two times but felt like it I had a stone for a heart. Saw my two beats in my chests - pounding.

Then suddenly my heart starting beating really fast - 160 - 170 BPM. Told my wife to call an ambulance, and while we're waiting for it, she took my BP with a device. The interesting part is that the device couldn't catch my current BP and Pulse. My wife told me that she could see my heart beating trough my chest. I was totally scared. My veins on the legs and on the arms became from vissible to hidden. I started breating slowly but deeply, which did not work. For almost 10 minutes I did this breathing excecise. AFter that the ambulance came and the doctors there took my Blood Sugar levels and my Blood Pressure. It turned aout that my Blood Sugar was 5.0, and my blood pressure was 160/110 with 140 pulse. They told me that I had panick attack and to calm down.

After they left and tehre was 5 minutes after it, I god another cold sweats and fast heart beat all over again. I felt like I'm gonna die. Called them again to get back ASAP. They did and took me into the ER. In the ER they started waching my BP and heart rate. My BP was 140/90 and my heart rate was 97 constant. They told me there that it might be due to Electrolyte Imbalance. They gave me Natrium Bromide and told me to go home and sleep it off. I did that, Slept it off, then the next morning I get up normally, made myself a coffee and got to the PC because my work is stationary. Then suddenly, my stomach felt like it is swallowing itsleft and then cold feet and hands, and then again another high BP and pulse episode. Called EMS and they told me that if I didn't have chest pains, left or right shoulder pain or numbness and neck or jaw pain and numbness I had panick attack and to calm down. But I was not satisfied with that. So in the same moment I made an appointment with Cardiologist.

Got to the Cardiologist which put me trough EKG, listened to my heart, saw it under Echocardiogram and told me that nothing wrong with my heart. But prescribed me Nebivolol of 5 miligrams one tablet per day for a week because of my high blood pressure. Nebivolol made my life sucks more and I stopped it after taking it for 2 days. I couldn't deal with it more. Then these episodes came back with full steam. Started managing it with Yogurt and cinnamon, but it was not enough. Made another apointmet to another cardiologist for second opinion. The second Docotr, told me that it was I was obese, but my heart was very healthy. I didn't belive that. Also she told me to take blood tests. I did it and all my blood tests was very good.
She advised me to walk 10 KM per day at minimum and to lose 10 KG in three months. I did take this advise serously but she didn't prescribed anything only that I can continue taking yougurt with cinnamon to control my BP. I was not satisifed, because it wasn't a solutuion nor a cure for me. It happened again. Then I made an apointment to another Cardiologist. He took EKG but while taking it, I was having panic attack or anxiety attack one of these, and my heart rate was 94 and my BP was 140/90. On the EKG he saw VT displacement and told me to go for Coronography. I was stunned and shoked at first and my BP and pusle got to the roof. Again I was not satisfied.
Then I started to search for the best Cardiologinst in the town and stumble accros it in a Forum where people with really bad heart conditions started to recover from him. Called him and made an appointment. When I got to his office with all my EKGs, Heart Echoes and blood work results, he told me that he saw a really healthy heart and nothing to worry about. For the EKG that showed VT displacement a bit, he told me that this could happen during panick or anxiety attack.

He put me on EKG and did these test:
- Normal ekg while I was breathing normally. Showed the same thing. He told me that this is not correct and told me to take deep breath and hold it for at least 30 seconds while he will take another EKG to exclude any heart damage or issues.
- After taking deep breath for 30 secs, my pulse from 95 dropped to 65, and all my EKG was normal without any displacement and any of that shit. He told me that most doctors doesn't bother to do it, because either they don't have the necessary experience or they don't care.

Took echo of my heart, my blood vessels, kidneys, liver and arteries. Told me that everything is good. And I get panick attacks from the gases that are in my colon, which displace my diaphragm and which in turn displaces my heart. I get extrasystoles and then sudden panick attacks. Prescribed me Concor of 5mg to taking it morning and night by 2x 2.5mg for 15 days, and then 2,5mg for another 15 days and then to throw it away. I did that. No more High BP, ocasionally extrasystoles but when I ate or I feel full and bent over or duck. No more high pusle. I was relieved, very relieved.

After this month I decided to stop it as the doctor told me. After 1 week the symthoms got back. Started taking it again only 2,5mg per day. Symthoms managed. Now I am at a crossroad here. Almost every doctor tells me that my heart is good and healthy, there is no heart conditions at all. I started walking and taking medications for my gas issues. Also I turned to the EASTERN MEDICINE (Chinese Medicine) Acupuncture. Today I treid again for almost 5 days I felt good until today which another episode. And I feel again like shit.Heart rate 115-120, couldn't take BP because I was outside and it was really hot (It is summer) and I was in sweat eveyrwhere on my body because of the hot weather. I get back home without feeling my heart rate at all. Got to the bathroom and did my job there, and then BAM -> extrasystole two times. No high pulse more than 120bpm but still it's not good. Took Concor 2,.5mg and my symptoms got away after 10-15 minutes.

I need and advise now: To start check for General Panic Disorder or another appoinmtment with my last Cardiologist who was the best at least for me or to look for another dcotor. I am taking also magnesium 500 mg per day as supplement.

Thank you guys for your support here!
Much appreciated!

2023.05.27 21:42 stevendom1987 Scared of metoprolol

I'm a 36 yr old male that's 5'9 250. 9 months ago I had a lone afib rvr episode that woke me from sleep at 3am. It took 12 hours for me to convert back while on a dilt drip. 2 weeks ago, almost exactly the same thing happenned again, episode started at 3am and lasted 12 hours and I converted. Zero other symptoms. I have mild sleep apnea (6.8ahi on an at home test) and am now aggressively losing weight due to diet.
I've been on 25mg ER metopolol for 10 days and have had bad/annoying symptoms. My Dr gave me bystolic aka nebivolol to try instead. I just want to be off of the beta blocker. He says 25mg ER I don't have to taper off and jsut wants me to take them until I see an electrocardiologist.
I've decided to taper off, 10 days isn't long and all the horror stories I have read. My blood pressure is super low my heart rate is in the 60s, I feel like crap, and my afib has only been twice. It takes weeks to get another cardiologist appointment and I need answers now about how to handle this.
Has anyone come off metoprolol and been completely fine? Idk what to do.

2023.05.02 19:27 CharmingVegetable189 Starting to question the point of meds

Maybe I'm just having a bad day, but I'm seriously questioning why I'm wasting money on medications. Since my diagnosis in September, I started wearing compression stockings and taking salt tablets, added propranolol at the next appointment, added corlanor at the next one, dropped propranolol a couple months later, added metoprolol at the following appointment, then switched the metoprolol to nebivolol most recently. All that has been accomplished lowering my overall heart rate. While my heart rate is now in the "normal" range much more often, it fluctuates just as often as before. The difference between lying down, sitting, and standing is almost exactly the same. The excessive spikes with mild activity continue to happen. Other than reduced lightheadedness, all other symptoms remain. It's a little easier to tease out true anxiety from symptom flares, but now I've just realized half my anxiety comes from symptoms impairing my functioning and causing stress. I still feel miserable and tired. Who cares of my heart is slower when it was just as healthy when it was beating faster? I'm spending $56 a month to have better looking numbers on my fitness tracker. That's about it. I start PT next week, which I insisted upon, but even the starting level of activity seems too exhausting. I read recently that exercise rehab isn't effective with people who had hypermobility or EDS. I have hypermobility and suspect hEDS. So am I going to waste another $40 a week for the next 2 months? I'm starting to doubt that treatment of any kind is even worth it. My finances are dwindling, and the constant doctor visits disrupt my work (which is already disrupted by feeling bad). If PT or this upcoming hematology consult doesn't yield anything, I don't know what to do. My last hope is that they'll give an iron infusion for my likely iron deficiency without anemia. If that doesn't work, I think I might as well just accept that this is the way I'm going to feel the rest of my life and use my money for something I enjoy. Can anyone out there provide some hope or guidance? I'm so tired of it all.

2023.04.26 21:57 Chris___M Other's experience with coffee and Afib?

Wish I thought about joining this forum a year and a half ago when I got diagnosed with AFib. Then I was working out on my spin bike and my heart rate monitor jacked way up. I actually thought it was equipment malfunction and pulled another HR monitor out. Sure enough, we all now know what it was. I'm in my early 60s, relatively good shape, high blood pressure. Been put on bystolic nebivolol and blood thinner. All is good but I had periodic episodes.
I tried various lifestyle changes. I went Keto for over a month. Quit drinking during that period. My BP came way down to normal but my episodes of Afib seemed in the later half to increase. Not sure if a correlation there. My doc says no.
Anyway, getting to my question. My wife has two friends, similar age, both with AFib and they swear coffee sets it off. I was a heavy coffee drinker. So I quit for now for the last two weeks. I've only had one mild episode after a week. But thus far all good. I guess the real experiment will be if I remain pretty much Afib free, to have some coffee and see if that kicks it in.
My question, has anyone else seen a correlation between coffee and their AFib experience. Curious.
Thanks in advance.

2023.02.15 01:28 bunkerburner Medication causing loss of singing voice?

M:50, 6’3” 250 lbs. Amlodipine, and Bystolic 10 mg.
My question is whether or not either Amlodipine and/or Bystolic (Nebivolol) can cause a basic loss of singing voice. I am a highly trained singer, and although I haven’t been actively singing for a few years, I cannot currently sing for very long at all (1-3 minutes) before the voice is completely exhausted. On some days I have trouble even matching pitch. My speaking voice is totally fine and I am able to speak normally all day.
I’m getting concerned, because my options are narrowing down to a full work up with an ENT, or a change in medication. Just wondering if this is a known side effect. It’s not listed on the packaging.

2023.01.21 09:58 krast0 21 Year old ,very active with low heart rate and high BP.

Hello everyone. As the title suggests i'm 21 years old and I never checked my BP before until 10 days ago I decided to check if everything is okay with it and I got a measurement with 127/90 .And I got pretty scared. At the next day I checked it at doctors office and got a measurement of 135/90 and was appointed for a cardiologist. The cardiologist did an cardiogram(EKG) and said that my heart is healthy but my blood pressure spiked to 150/100 that day. I did blood work and urine test and everything appears to be normal excluding glucose( blood sugar ) that appears to be 5.85 (it is still normal but close to being too much). The worst thing for me is that I was prescribed a beta blocker for my BP called Nebivolol and I take half a pill of 5mg every night for three days now. My next appointment is in 10 days but I will really suggest to stop taking the pill to the cardiologist and I'm scared for drinking them for the rest of my life and getting dependent on them. My BP this morning was 128/90 - and its the third day of taking beta blockers( Nebivolol/Bystolic). Also sometime I feel that I have to take deeper breaths even before taking the pills. I need a second advice from someone ,do I need to call my cardiologist as soon as possible (in 3 days) and talk about stopping the pill or i need to search for other cardiologist.
