2024.05.14 02:25 BagPretend2775 Help me identify this theme (scary piano music)

Hello everyone! Good day!
First of all, i apologize in advance if i make any mistakes in my post, or if this post shouldnt be in this subreddit, since this is my second post on this subreddit.
Second, i had already made a post about this theme/song approx. a year ago, the only reason as to why im making another post about it, is because of some details i left out in the first post i made because im stupid.
Third, i apologize for any grammar mistakes, english is not my first language!
Okay, so i need help identifying this horror theme that i've known about for almost 10 years now (https://vocaroo.com/1kRpjK800ZNu clean version with no TTS voice that i made with vocalremover), first heard it in a creepypasta that was posted 12 years ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LplL2zT59Aw&t=4s theme starts at 1:24), then i eventually came across another video posted 7 years ago which also uses this theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i0xPjGDrUQ theme starts at 1:10). Other users in said videos have asked about this specific theme's origin, although no answer has ever been given by the videos OP's
As i said before, i skipped mentioning certain details in my first post since im not very smart, such as providing the theme itself and the videos where it can be heard, and i've done some research myself, having found some interesting things in the process, but never the song itself.
Theme has "lyrics", at one point you can hear a woman's voice saying something that i've made out as: "take a deep breath, come into my world, and relax your body", and later on, near the theme's end, you can hear the same voice saying "close your eyes"
This theme has been used as a sample in other themes, found this out through Shazam. it has been sampled in a song called "O Grande Dia" by an artist called Valdo Siqueira da Silva (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyYZrnM\_rLw at 3:11), a song called "Song for Paris" by an artist called "Just Joe" on spotify (https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/track/4YkfhhHBJ6BpvKWKwueRnb), and a song called "Songe", song that for the life of me i unfortunately cannot find the link to, but its posted on youtube, and another song that i cannot remember the name to and cant find the link as well, but is also posted on youtube.
Here's the interesting part: One day while shazaming a specific part of the song (cant remember which one...) Shazam detected a song called "Close Your Eyes" by an artist called "MS-DOS" For some reason, shazam did not provide the link from where it got this result from, but the title is interesting, since as i mentioned before, in the theme's lyrics, you can hear a woman's voice saying "Close Your Eyes"
And this is pretty much all i've got and all i can tell yall, hopefully you can help me solve this mistery, i was debating whether or not posting this in the LostWave subreddit, but i decided to do it here first, what do you guys think? should i ask for help there?
If anyone knows anything, please let me know, Thank you!

2024.05.14 02:01 Aerial-Ace97 [Online] [Heavily Homebrewed 3.5] [Very LGBT+] The Oh Hellos

World: The Oh Hellos takes place on the homebrew moon of Loam as two worlds are thrust together. When the clone ship Argonaut crashes here, the chaos it leaves amongst the many empires is pushed to its brink as it delivers a whole host of new people and races that must exist beside them. Players will be split between survivors of this crash and people from Loam who have come to investigate the oceanic crash. As the players navigate these shattered worlds, they must try to find a place between themselves while also dealing with the loss of most of what they’ve come to know. They will travel from the newly upheaved oceanic towers of Uteloch where the sky has been torn open into sky death steeped lightning to the land of Job on the dark side of the moon where virulent coral grows out of the black desert bluffs. Along the way, they will visit mystical Shrukeng, the great and dormant super volcano overtaken by ultra rich vegetation and superheating it’s many rivers and lakes that are populated by yokai and fey alike, wild Dahwet where winter clutches a land where the very ground and trees breathe and growl and ancient ziggurats tell of mysteries beneath the ice, and ancient Qasidra, where deep furnaces fume mix with the far reaching sands to produce ash that can give glimpses of times long gone and Eddie’s are formed that connect points in history that appear as if mirages. There is much more to be discovered throughout the world of Loam. The story largely mixes themes of animal fantasy, hopepunk, and cultural conflict. With animal fantasy, both those races from Loam and the slave ship are largely animalistic humanoids and themes of the story draw from animal fantasy books. With hopepunk, all of the players will have lost someone if not multiple people close to them as a result of the crash and the story is as much finding a place in the world as it is finding a place without them, and this is further spun on by the Triquetra system which is described a bit more in our documents. The cultural conflict is somewhat explanatory. The campaign is largely inspired by the band the Oh Hellos, with each game being tied to one of their songs. System: Heavily homebrewed 3.5 Session Length: 5 to 6 Hours Schedule: Saturdays starting at 4 pm CST Requirements: Discord and Roll20 though we may try out Foundry Price: No price Slots Remaining: At least 4 of 7 Link for more information: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1turlsT6RteWlaqqJwnnAHyzY_Y_av66ibQBM2eoqyo0/edit Contact: You can PM me here or on Discord at TheFinalHolmes

2024.05.14 01:29 the-centre-knows [PC][1990s] Educational Game with distinctive quote “Going down in the charts”

Back around 1997, our school had an educational game where when you got answers wrong, a voice would say “going down in the charts”. The voice and pronunciation was just very distinctive and an ear worm when you’d hear it repeated over and over.
I want to say it was themed around a band and your answers would raise or lower their song in the charts. It had very 90s aesthetics.
I want to say this game was played in a lab classroom and may have been a science elective course in our curriculum.

Based on the texture of the background, I think this picture was taken on a bed or at least shot to seem that way. If these are Drake's personal items, where could this picture have been taken, and when? Had to have been taken before May 3rd 2024 and we know the receipts and prescriptions match the new videos. If anyone else has more context on the Maybach Gloves, it would be appreciated.
MY PERSONAL THEORY: Kendrick knew Drake would drop Family Matters, I think he had the song and video for a while before the public saw it, Drake previewed the song on Push-Ups, so the production probably started around "Like That." Let's talk about the Family Matters video. Why is Drake's nuke of this beef 5 minutes of B-Roll and 2 minutes of him actually in the video? Ik a popular theory by Drake stans before EP came out was that the shirt was a joke at Kendrick, and Drake falsely "leaked" the info, and I think they're half right. I do think the shirt was a petty joke aimed at Kendrick: "Shortee Collection," obviously keeping up Drake's dog theme from his last album rollout and the shirt literally shows someone "dog-walking." I believe that Drake wore this shirt in the original music video for Family Matters and they had to re-edit the entire video after Kendrick showed it on 6:16 in LA. If you rewatch the video, it looks incomplete and lazy.
Based on all of this information, I don't think it's far-fetched to suggest that Kendrick has a direct line in Drake's camp/OVO and this picture came from a very intimate location. It would also explain the dramatic tonal shift between records from Drake, I think he is legitimately scared right now, Ak was radio silent for a few days after EP came on twitter, and we all know he's basically Drake's mouthpiece to the public at this point. Someone please disprove me with metadata or other evidence so I can do something productive with my life

[BREAK MY CASE] Review of the new JP husbando game about corporative life with a fun musical Candy Crush gameplay
Always trying to bring new husbando games to the general public. Unfortunately, this time it's a Japanese-only one, but since it's a match 3 game, you can play it as a casual game, maybe?
So, coly inc. (Promise of Wizard, Stand My Heroes) has recently released their new game, Break My Case (ブレイクマイケース). It's a joseimuke game (aimed towards women) where you're working with hot men, basically. I'm sorry, I don't speak Japanese, but from the few chapters I've translated and judging the company's record, I guess the MC is probably a woman -- the only one in the whole game, talk about a male-centric work environment.
https://preview.redd.it/id3giixna90d1.jpg?width=1067&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d051f05f9279a906b914d0747c17fc848d912642

THE BOYS (NOT THE AMAZON ONES)

There are divided into 6 departments, and there are SEVERAL boys, like, too many (21 to be exact). There's one for everyone's taste (but ofc, it's Japan, so you know there are no black characters, and since it's a joseimuke, there are no muscly guys as well).
Anybody who knows idol games and other joseimukes (like Twisted Wonderland) might be used to this divide of different units, but this isn't that important. At the beginning of the game you have to choose a character to be awarded with a free SR card of him. This choice isn't really important and you can easily get those SR cards in the gacha (SR cards aren't the highest rarity).
The boys have beautifully done live2D animations in a couple of places, like their profiles, in the gameplay stages and in the story as well.
A quick overview of each department and their employees:

GAMEPLAY

The game has an interesting twist in the Candy Crush (match 3) formula: it's dynamic, a line will go through the board and you set up the matches as the line goes by. For a couple of rounds (until the song ends, marked by a Youtube-like line advancing at the bottom of the screen), the line will spawn at the beginning of the board (from left to right, but some challenge stages might have the line going around in different directions) and any matches it touches have the whole matching group removed from the board and new tiles are spawned in their places (the board doesn't "fall" like in Candy Crush, so you can't plan that much since it's random which are the next tiles to appear). Any tile that's matched in groups of 3, 4 or 5 (in line or in T-form) are removed from the board, so you can make matches on the go.
A bit of a breakdown about the gameplay mechanics:
  • You can't unite 2 groups (for instance, 2 groups of 3 in the same line don't make a group of 6, each move only results in one group of matching tiles).
  • If new tiles come up and you can match them in a group, they'll still be removed if the "walking line" barely touches any of the matching tiles (this makes the gameplay very frenetic and dynamic).
  • Once you move a tile and make a matching group, those tiles are locked until they're removed by the moving line.
  • Groups of 4 or 5 form a musical note tile (a single one with 4 matched, double if matched in T, and triple if matched in a line of 5), which is removed by the "walking line" to power up an ultimate skill that varies from each card and to raise the combo (more combos, more bonuses and items at the end of the level).
  • Other skills are present for each boy you bring to the level (you can bring 4 boys for each level --one of them being the leader with a leader advantage/skill--, and a support from friends or random people that'll help you with a boost).
It's one of those games with low stamina limits that only consume 1 stamina per stage. At the start, it's pretty okay, but I can see it being too little in the long run. You can stack up to 3 runs and you can skip stages once for every boy (in the daily grind section, so up to 21 times daily).
A screenshot of a match 3 stage. Notice the line is in the second to last column of tiles, and every tile lit up before the line is alreay matched (hende locked in place) waiting for the line to pass and remove them in the next round.

GACHA AND MONETIZATION

Gacha is what you expect from joseimukes: pretty greedy, but with hald decent rates at least. Some stuff to consider:
  • Cards have R, SR and SSR rarities.
  • Pity is 3% for SSR, 17% for SR and 80% for R cards.
  • There's at least one SR card guaranteed in each 10 pulls.
  • There's no pity for SSR cards, but there's a 200 pulls spark (through the shop).
  • There's 50/50 in limited banners (oh wow, I'm surprised).
  • There's no written indication of warranty on getting the featured card in your next SSR pull if you lose 50/50.
About the monetization, 10 pulls cost 500 gems, and there are no packs that sell that exact amount (an old trick so you always have gems left and you have to get more).485 gems cost 2.9k yen, and 870 gems cost 4.9k, for reference. There are discounted packs, though (limited time, of course, of course).
Oh, there are 2 pulling currencies: free and paid one. Atm, I can only see a special banner using paid currency (10 pulls guarantee a random SSR), and there's a discounted pull everyday using only 10 paid gems instead of 50). Max level of the cards are heavily reliant on dupes (5 more levels for each dupe, 1 + 4 dupes required). SSR has a max level of 60, SR max level is 45 and R is 30 (no dupes, add 20 for the max level with 4 dupes)
Generosity-wise, the game seems to be extremely stingy, with no events so far, and the game will rely only on events if there's any. For now, stages only offer 5 or 10 gems each, and story is level-locked. At least the starter events give a good amount of rewards, and you get a bit more than 30 pulls worthy of gems just for starting the game and an SSR ticket to play the gacha (random card). There was also a special b-day reward for one of the boys, and the 2nd day prize was 5 gacha tickets, but that reward was only available yesterday.
I'll leave some card images from now on just to make the article more pleasing to the eyes. SSR card.

MORE CONSIDERATIONS

I'm sorry, but like I said, I can't talk about the story and the lore too much. I've only read 3 or 4 chapters and it was pretty corporative-esque, I don't enjoy the theme at all, but I've been playing for 3 days now only because of the fun gameplay.
The game doesn't need a VPN to access and you can download it and play instantaneously through Qooapp or Taptap (links at the end). It also has a quality I don't often see in Japanese gachas: the UI is clean and minimalistic, and there isn't a lot of loading screens (although I've had a few disconnections, probably due to the distance I am from the main server in Japan). The live2D looks and feels modern and really fluid, and the songs are pretty cool (and a nice touch to integrate the new gimmicks to the old match 3 formula).
If you want to actually play the game and not be like me (super casual), a Twitter fan (@ aporia_eng) is translating stuff for the game, mainly new announcements and info on the characters (link at the end).
SSR card (birthday special)

FINAL THOUGHTS

Lack of English language aside, the game might be a good choice for husbando fans seeking for a new and interesting option. If you like a good story, you probably are beter with Tokyo Debunker (despite all the AI stuff and the cashgrab aspects), but if you want a different gameplay vibe, this game is accessible for anybody who've played any other Candy Crush-like game (and enjoys the genre).
It's a solid 7/10 game but probably a cheap thrill for those who don't speak Japanese and aren't really into the corporative theme.
I can only hope the game comes to global, it deserves to be a moderate success in Japan. But if you've reached this point also hoping about an English release, I'm sorry to crush your dreams, but coly inc. isn't known for localizing their games :(
SR card

TL;DR

**Pros:**
  • Interesting gameplay;
  • Adds a twist to the match 3 (Candy Crush) genre;
  • High quality: live2D, great UI, few loading screens;
  • Generous starter rewards;
  • No geoblock.
**Cons:**
  • Japanese only;
  • Theme might be too niche;
  • Apparently greedy in the long run (too early too judge, but it is what it is);
  • Dupes make a HUGE difference (it raises the max level, like Nikke).
Meow cat, please meow back (SR card).

2024.05.14 01:06 Albannach5446 [Theory] Music explains itself

"Music explains itself. It is the road and the map that shows the road."
"Can you explain how music works without using music?"
That brought me up short.
BLUF: Kvothe knows the name of music.
When Elodin is teaching Kvothe about naming, we have this discussion about how there are some things that can't be explained and that naming helps us to understand them anyway.
"The majority of important things cannot be said outright," Elodin said. "They cannot be made explicit. They can only be implied." He looked... around the lecture hall. "Name something that cannot be explained."
...
"Naming?" Fenton asked.
"That is a cheap answer Re'lar," Elodin said with a hint of reproach. "But you correctly anticipate the theme of my lecture so we will let it slide." He pointed at me.
"There isn't anything that can't be explained," I said firmly. "If something can be understood, it can be explained. A person might not be able to do a good job of explaining it. But that just means it's hard, not that it's impossible."
Elodin held up a finger. "Not hard or impossible. Merely pointless. Some things can only be inferred." He gave me an infuriating smile. "By the way, your answer should have been music."
"Music explains itself," I said. "It is the road and it is the map that shows the road. It is both together."
"But can you explain how music works?" Elodin asked.
"Of course," I said. Though I wasn't sure of any such thing.
"Can you explain how music works without using music?"
That brought me up short.
To dig a bit deeper, let's go to the frame story.
...he added a small, frightened silence to the larger, hollow one. They made an alloy of sorts, a harmony.
"...and the final ring was without name."
So Kvothe knows the name of something that has no name. Speaking the name of a thing which has no name leaves only... silence. Which can apparently create harmonies. To be clear, I don't think actual silence is the name of music, because that doesn't make sense, it's not a name. I think that silence is needed to heaknow the name of music because music is its own name. Maybe not all of it, not every piece, but music's name can only be "spoken" through music.
Okay whatever, fairly flimsy, I know, but for the sake of argument assume I'm right. How does Kvothe know the name of music? Yes he's a very accomplished musician, but there are many more who are as or more accomplished even just in Imre. To know a name, you need to learn about a thing for days, weeks, sometimes years. Long enough that your sleeping mind awakens and absorbs all that there is to know about it. If only there was a period of Kvothe's life where his waking mind was asleep and he did nothing but play music for hours on end...
...my mind used the first door [the door of sleep] to numb the pain. The wound was covered until the proper time for healing could come. In self-defense, a good portion of my mind simply stopped working - went to sleep, if you will.
Of course I played. It was my only solace.
Eventually I could play from when I woke until the time I slept.
I began to play something other than songs... I would play until I got the feeling right.
I remember spending three whole days trying to capture Wind Turning a Leaf.
Somewhere in the third month, I stopped looking outside and started looking inside for things to play.
To me, this is similar to the way he describes watching the wind until he saw its patterns and thus learning its name.
But hang on, music can't be it's own name, then everyone would be hearing a name every time it's played. That would surely do something to them; names have an effect on people after all. They stir something in them, make them feel moved strangely (see: whenever Elodin speaks; when a name is spoken but the person hearing it doesn't know the name; etc). If only music did the same thing.
"Thin, Albannach, very thin," I hear you say. And I'm with you. Surely, if Kvothe knew the name of music it would have more of effect on him. Let us turn to when he calls the wind the first time:
He looked at me. His dark eyes steadied me somewhat. Slowed the storm inside me. "Aerlevsedi," he said. "Say it."
"What?" Simmon said somewhere in the distant background. "Wind?"
"Aerlevsedi" Elodin repeated patiently, his dark eyes intent upon my face.
"Aerlevsedi," I said numbly.
...
His eyes caught mine. The numbness faded, but the storm still turned inside my head. Then Elodin's eyes changed. He stopped looking toward me and looked into me. ... He leaned forward and his lips brushed my ear. I felt his breath. He spoke... and the storm stilled. I found a place to land."
Is there a parallel with music? When is there not in this story. Many times, Kvothe refers to his music keeping him grounded and sane. Besides the detail above about him playing during his time in the woods and it allowing his mind to heal, I'll pick out one or two. After he got his lute back when Denna took it:
"With my lute back in my hands, the rest of my life slid easily back into balance.
Or playing at the Eolian:
"Offstage I worry and sweat. Onstage I am calm as a windless winter night."
Going back to the initial evidence about the discussion with Elodin. That comment about the road and the map that shows it is interesting. Sounds a bit like his chat with Tempi about the Lethani.
"What is the purpose of the Lethani?" Tempi asked.
"To give us a path to follow?" I replied.
"No," Tempi said sternly. "The Lethani is not a path."
"What is the purpose of the Lethani, Tempi?"
"To guide us in our actions. By following the Lethani, you act rightly."
"Is this not a path?"
"No. The Lethani is what helps us choose a path."
A slight addendum theory that plays into the bigger picture here: the Lethani is a way to invoke the mental state Kvothe calls Spinning Leaf, which enables people to better know/learn names, as we see Kvothe do multiple times. This is not an accident. The Adem, like the Edema, are descended of the first namers, and the Lethani comes from that heritage... just as music comes from the Edema heritage. The Edema music comes from Illien (who could be any number of namers/shapers who pop up in the stories: Lanre, Tarborlin, Iax, etc). What better evidence that music is its own name than the greatest Ruh (equivalently, the greatest of what became of the original namers) being the greatest musician travelling the world to show people the way.
In summary: music is its own name and to hear it and know it you need silence. Why else would Kvothe keep silence so heavy around himself at the Inn? (yes okay I know there's lots of other reasons he might but that's not the point of this theory)

2024.05.14 00:48 HogwashDrinker Kendrick Lamar vs Drake—The End of an Era?

Do you think we'll look back on the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake beef and see it as marking the end of an era?
Hip-hop/rap being on the decline has been a frequent topic of discussion for the past few years.
Could the defeat of commercial rap's figurehead finally signify an end to hip-hop's reign over the mainstream?
Will the triumph of the conscious-adjacent poet laureate artist signify a resurgence of more conscious underground hip-hop?
The death of XXXtentacion marked the end of the Soundcloud Rap era. Imo Drake's defeat feels like a continuation of that. Trending away from the shallow and blatant hedonism and violence that has dominated much of the mainstream—not for any puritanical reason, but simply due to over-saturation and fatigue.
If hip-hop as a genre begins to trend towards its more conscious and artistic roots, it will also naturally fall from the mainstream.
Of course, a part of me sees this as wholly unrealistic. On the other hand, artists like Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, and Armand Hammer are making some great shit and picking up significant traction.
And I feel like there's only so many songs I can listen to about fucking your bitch in the throat, killing people, and buying expensive shit before getting bored and craving a little more substance. Also, it seems like people are becoming less misogynistic on the whole, and some of the things commonly said in rap just seem to come off grosser as time goes on. Maybe there's something in the air, people might be over that. Just something I'm picking up on
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sound like an oldhead boomer complaining about mUsIc ThEsE dAyS; there will always be a space and demand for hedonistic bangers. But on the whole, I can't really imagine that these current trends stay exactly the same for another decade or two. At some point, what's popular is going to change. What marks that, and what will it shift to?
Surprisingly, there seems to be a major surge in the popularity of country music. In a way, this was prophesied by the popularity of Corridos Tumbados—artists like Peso Pluma somehow making acoustic music popular among the youth.
It makes sense—we're still in post-pandemic recovery mode in an increasingly isolated world. We yearn for a sense of togetherness and unity. We want tangible, real world connections, and country music's sing-along tracks with real physical instruments taps directly into that need. But ngl, I'm not really rocking w country music. So I hope hip-hop figures out its own answer to that.
Tracks like Kanye's Carnival, with its stadium-anthem chorus feeds into that need for togetherness (s/o Professor Skye for that). The same phenomenon can be observed in places like Japan, where Yuki Chiba's Team Tomodachi is going mega viral (the title means "team friends," it's a banger about hanging out w your buddies lol). Most recently, Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" seems to unify not only the West Coast, but hip-hop fans in general.
All this is to say that there do seem to be certain emerging trends, in conjunction with certain needs people are yearning to fulfill. The latest rap beef between Kendrick and Drake certainly fed into this desire for togetherness, but it also feels like some kind of major shift.
Do you think it will mark the end of an era in hip-hop, do you think it will have little-to-no impact, or do you think it will lead to something else entirely?

Another Silent Hills PT sample at the end of Sit & Mourn
The Silent Hills PT demo is my Roman empire, you could say...
I was pumped when I caught this sample from the game right at the end of Sit & Mourn.
You can hear it around 2:37 in the linked video. The clip is specifically from the ambient sound when Lisa (the ghost in the game) is haunting the player.
They have also sampled audio from this game in other songs...
-In The Walls sampled a radio news broadcast, the l yrics are also quite relevant to the themes explored in the game.
  • Where Light Divides the Holler you can hear the radio skip past the same news broadcast during the car intro.
I'm also certain there is a section of ambient noise that is used in another song on ATITFOL but I can't place which song currently. I will update if I get a moment to find it.
I would LOVE to hear the band's reasoning behind repeatedly going back and sampling from this game.

Louise: Well, why don’t you send one of your kids down to the grocery store to pick something up.
Mark walks in.
Mark: Didn’t you hear? The grocery store shut down because of poverty.
Dan slams his fist on the table.
Dan: Damn’t! Lanford needed that grocery store! It’s where we common folk got our food!
Darlene enters.
Darlene: This is the problem with corporate America. They come in and shut down all the local mom and pop stores and then run out of town at the first sign of trouble.
Jackie enters, Mark exits (not seen again the entire episode).
Jackie: She’s right. They call it FOOD DESERTS (said in a very long exaggerated voice). Yeah, pretty soon we’re gonna be slithering around like snakes trying to get water from a cactus.
Dan: This just ain’t right.
Louise: Well, rather than complaining, maybe we can do something. What if we all pitched in and started selling groceries at the hardware store?
Darlene: That’s a great idea. It’ll be like the old days when people bought their groceries at the hardware store.
Ben: And I know a guy with a grocery warehouse who’ll probably sell me groceries at half off.
Dan: That’s it! The Conners are in the grocery business and saving Lanford from starving.
Jackie: Well, some of us would probably starve a little sooner than others. I’m just saying. And we could always eat MOM if we had to!
(Theme song.)
Scene 2: Olinsky's Hardware Store
Ben is standing at the hardware store counter.
Darlene enters.
Darlene: I just got a call from the villainous county grocery commissioner. He says we can’t sell groceries because we don’t have a permit. If we try to sell them anyway, he’ll shut down the entire hardware store and then you won’t be able to support us on my lunch lady salary, I’ll have to quit for another job, and Mark won’t be able to go to college!
Ben: That totally blows.
Dan walks in from the back room.
Dan: Well, how much is this grocery permit?
Darlene: It’s $500!
Dan: $500! Oh geez, that’s the amount of money I've saved up to pay off the mortgage. But Lanford needs groceries, so...
Darlene: Dad, we can’t ask you to give up your dream of paying off the mortgage.
Harris enters.
Harris: I’ll do it. I’ll go to Chicago to turn tricks to earn the $500 so you all can sell groceries and Lanford doesn’t starve and Mom doesn’t have to quit her job and Mark can keep going to college.
Darlene: Harris, you don’t have to do this. But you’re sure you want to?
Harris: I mean, yeah, I guess so. I’m not worth anything to the family anyway. I guess this is the only thing I can do to be any value in the world.
Darlene: You are such a good daughter.
Scene 3: Conner Family Room
Jackie: Has anyone noticed Harris acting a little differently lately?
Darlene: No, what do you mean?
Jackie: I don’t know. She seems just kind of down, you know. Not like her normal self.
Darlene: We’re Conners. Something would be wrong if we weren’t a little down.
Jackie: No, I’m serious this is different. Watch.
Jackie hits a catatonic Harris over the head with a football and she doesn’t move.
Darlene: Maybe you’re right. I’ll take her down to the Urgent Care just to be safe.
Scene 4: Conner Family Room
Dan is on the edge of his seat as Darlene and Harris walk back in the house.
Dan: Well what did they say?
Darlene: Apparently the doctor says Harris is suffering post-traumatic stress disorder from her sex work in Chicago.
Dan: Is it serious?
Harris (with flat, matter of fact affect): The doctor says I’ll be OK. He gave me a referral to a person who will help me with coping strategies for the irrational thoughts I have while I’m selling my body.
Dan: Oh, thank God.
Scene 5: Conner Family Room
Ben enters.
Ben: Guys, I just heard on the radio. The first ever hurricane to hit Illinois is here NOW and it’s headed straight for Lanford.
Darlene: What are we going to do?
Louise: Dan, your kids need to grow up and learn how to face this hurricane on their own. I’m going to be on the road for the next three weeks, and I wanted to watch Yellowstone with you tonight.
Dan: Kids, Louise is right. It’s time you all faced this hurricane by yourselves.
Darlene: But that’s not fair! We’ve always faced things as a family.
Dan (winking): Well, I’m putting my foot down. You all have to weather the storm by yourselves.
Louise: Oh, alright Dan. They can weather the hurricane with us.
Becky enters.
Becky: Sober life is so amazing. Colors are vibrant, I hear birds chirping in the morning, and I’m present for Beverly Rose!
Darlene: That’s great. Did you hear, a hurricane’s about to hit Lanford? Also I accidentally threw out that notebook you keep with your list of coping mechanisms for being an alcoholic. You didn’t need it right?
Beck: Umm, no, everything is OK. I’ll be fine. I’m just going to head to the basement.
Scene 6: Conner Basement
The Conners all walk down to the basement.
Dan: Becky, where are you? The hurricane’s passed. It’s all OK.
They find Becky lying face down next to a bottle of Vodka. Beverly Rose is teetering on the edge of a bookshelf.
Jackie: Oh, my god, this is bad.
Darlene: Becky, Becky, wake up. What are you doing?
Becky: It was just all too much. The hurricane and then I didn’t have my notebook of coping mechanisms.
Dan huffs in anger.
Dan: Don’t you get it Becky! It was never about that book of coping mechanisms! Can’t you see what Mark has done to you! Can’t you see he’s sending us these hurricanes and shutting down the grocery store from the beyond? Whenever there’s a problem, can’t you see it’s Mark? What do I have to do to get through to you that Mark was Satan’s spawn and is cursing the town of Lanford from the pits of Hell?
Becky breaks down crying.
Jackie: She’s having a breakthrough. Her alcoholism is going into remission again.
Becky: I’m cured everybody.
Everyone hugs Becky.
Dan: To celebrate, let’s go down to the Hardware Store to pick up some groceries for dinner! Brewskis are on me; I can punt on paying off the mortgage until next month.
Jackie: I don’t know, I was thinking about eating MOM!

Touhou Cast Discussion: Perfect Cherry Blossom Cast (+IaMP)
Perfect Cherry Blossom. This game is where Touhou starts feeling like, well, Touhou. While EoSD introduced the new setting of Gensokyo to the Touhou series, PCB is where the series starts defining it's world and it's lore. Having said that, how do the characters in this game stack up? Well that's what we're going to discuss today.
Just a quick note. We'll also include Suika in this discussion. Even though Immaterial and Missing Power canonically takes place after Imperishable Night, the former is labeled as the 7.5th game in the series, as in, it's supposed to be a follow up to PCB. So I think it's fair game.
So without further ado...
Perfect Cherry Blossom Cast (from left to right): Lunasa Prismriver, Merlin Prismriver, Lyrica Prismriver, Yuyuko Saigyouji, Youmu Konpaku, Lily White, Suika Ibuki, Chen, Yukari Yakumo, Ran Yakumo, Letty Whiterock, Alice Margatroid (Art by Dairi)
Letty Whiterock (What Winter Left Behind)
A Yuki-onna who serves as this game's first boss. Letty is only seen during the winter; as spring arrives, Letty goes into hibernation. She's very cold towards humans, and is known to freeze any she comes across.
My Thoughts: There isn't really much for me to say about my feelings towards Letty. She's a Yuki-onna who hangs out during the winter, and leaves during the following seasons. She's commonly depicted to be a guardian towards Cirno, despite canonically not liking being grouped with the ice fairy. Of course, I like to imagine that Letty is fine with Cirno and fine with being with her; It's just that she doesn't like being compared to Cirno, considering how weak fairies usually are in Touhou. Other than that, there's not much for me to say about Letty. You'll only get the chance to run into her at the beginning and end of each year, and that's about it.
Fun Fact: Letty's name is actually a reference to Lettie Blacklock, a character from one of Agatha Christie's book: A Murder is Announced.
Chen (Black Cat of Bad Omens)
Chen is a nekomata youkai and the shikigami of Ran Yakumo. As Ran is also Yukari's shikigami, that means Chen is also subservient to Yukari as well. Chen is also very close friends with Rin Kaenbyou. The two are known to play often, and Chen even picked up the habit to offering corpses to Ran from Orin, much to the former's chagrin
My Thoughts: I don't take as much of an interest in her as I do Ran or Yukari, but I still think Chen is an alright character. Thinking about it, I think Chen's song has the shortest loop of any stage boss theme in the series. It probably doesn't even take a minute to loop... Of course, having said that, while I am fine with Chen, I want to say that I really can't stand that one Chen joke. Y'know the one. The one where someone (usually Ran) yells Chen's name often accompanied by a nosebleed. It just get's very irritating, y'know? But putting that aside, like I said, Chen is an alright character to me.
Alice Margatroid (Seven-Colored Puppeteer)
A doll-controlling-magician who lives in the Forest of Magic. While aloof and self-confident, she's not above showing kindness towards others, as she's willing to let lost humans lodge at home for the night, and is willing (albeit reluctant) to help her neighbor and rival, Marisa Kirisame.
My Thoughts: You might have noticed that I've been holding off on talking about her and Yuuka in the PC-98 discusion post. That's because I wanted to save them for each of their respective Windows debuts. Having said that, here's my view on Alice.
As you may know, I'm not too crazy about Marisa or Patchouli. But out of the witch trio, I'd say I like Alice the most. Mostly for her personality. She's aloof, self-confident, and not afraid to speak her mind or battle someone if the challenge presents itself. But she's also timid, choosing to hold back out fear of what could happen if she were to lose while going all out. Above all, she's kind, and not afraid to helps others, especially if they're human. Don't get me wrong, she's no saint, but still, she's probably one of the kindest people you'll run into Gensokyo. Like with her fellow stage 3 boss, Meiling, it's honestly a crying shame that people misinterpret her in fan works, by either making her a Tsundere or even a Yandere for Marisa when Alice is so much more complex than that. Plus, some of Alice's more unpleasant traits usually surface when she's interacting with Marisa anyway. I'm not saying that they don't have some level of respect for each other. Canon has shown plenty of instances where they do. But still, you can't deny that Marisa usually brings out the worst in Alice.
Lily White (Fairy Herald of Spring)
The Mid Boss of Stage 4. Lily White is a fairy who heralds the coming of Spring. She's know to spray danmaku as she announces Spring's arrival, but it's more out of excitement than aggression. Lily is one of the friendliest characters in the Touhou series as well as one of the youkai who is the least hostile towards humans.
My Thoughts: I got nothing. Her sole purpose is announcing the arrival of the vernal equinox and that's it. Also, Spring is somehow the best and worst season at the same time. The scenery in Springtime is absolutely gorgeous, especially in certain regions of the world. Plus the temperature in Spring usually just right. Not too hot like in the Summer, and not too cold like in the Winter. Now why is it also the worst? One word. Allergies. Having to deal with pollen in the air is the WORST. But now I'm just rambling on about Spring instead of Lily.
Bottom of the line? Lily's not so noteworthy in my opinion. Also Lily Black is literally just Lily White but she's cosplaying as the Yama. Sooooo, yeah. Next.
The Prismriver Sisters (Three Poltergeist Sisters)
This trio of poltergeist sisters are skilled musicians who are popular among youkai. These poltergeist were created by Layla Prismriver, who based them off her late older sisters after their father, Count Prismriver, died in an accident. Even after the 4 sisters died, the poltergeists take refuge in their ancestral home to this day as they continue to hone their music skills.
The sister in black is Lunasa. She's the oldest of the sisters and plays the violin. She's very calm and reserved, but also quite melancholic and pessimistic, due to her honest personality being taken advantage of in the past. The sister in white is Merlin. She's the middle sister and plays the trumpet. Merlin is very upbeat; she's never seen depressed. However, she does have a habit of becoming obsessed with anything she's interested in, to the point where it becomes a mania for her. The sister in red is Lyrica. She's the youngest of the sisters and plays the keyboard. Lyrica is very clever, but also very lazy. She prefers to try and get her to fight for her while she sits on the sidelines and snarks.
My Thoughts: As a whole, I kinda like the idea of the Prismrivers. Three siblings who perform music together. Plus, personality-wise, they're pretty distinct from each other. I have heard some theories that in-universe, they're responsible for most of the songs you hear in Touhou Project. It's honestly quite an interesting explanation. The three are pretty close in my opinion, but if you were to ask how I'd rank them... I think I would say Lunasa, Lyrica, and finally Merlin. They're still all pretty good, even if none of them are one of my all time favorites of this game.
Youmu Konpaku (Half-Human Half-Phantom Gardener)
Youmu lives at Hakugyokurou, the shrine that oversees the Netherworld, and serves as Yuyuko's right-hand-woman, being a gardener, and swordplay instructor. Her two blades, Roukanken and Hakuroken, are said to be able to cut through almost anything as well as confusion, respectively. Youmu is straightforward, diligent, and loyal to her mistress, but said straightforwardness makes her easy to be manipulated by those around her, especially Yuyuko.
My Thoughts: For a while, Youmu was my favorite character from PCB. If you don't count Reisen, then she's certainly my favorite out of the main human protagonists. And I still do like Youmu a lot! She's cute, she's cool, and she's also a bit of a dork who ironically is afraid of ghosts. The whole "cool" factor for Youmu might be played up a bit in fanon, but I personally don't find it a big deal. Plus it's usually not at the expense of any other particular characters in the series (*cough cough* Sakuya). Also, there is this one Touhou fan game (Koumajou Densetsu II: Stranger's Requiem) where she's voiced by Ryō Hirohashi, who, as you may know, is the current Japanese voice actress for Sonic the Hedgehog's Miles "Tails" Prower. What does this sorta minor fact about one fangame have to do with me liking Youmu? I don't know, but being a Sonic fan who also likes the fluffy little two-tailed furball, that fact just kind of appeals to me.
Bottom-Line? I like Youmu. She's one of my favorite characters in the series, and for a while, I actually preferred her over her mistress, Yuyuko.
Yuyuko Saigyouji (Ghost Girl in the Netherworld Tower)
Yuyuko is the Ghost Princess of the Netherworld and an old friend of Yukari Yakumo. During her lifetime, Yuyuko possessed the power to control the spirits of the dead, however it eventually grew into the power to kill others with just a thought. Yuyuko was so terrified by this that she committed suicide. Despite her tragic past, Yuyuko is very cheerful, playful, and friendly, for a ghost. She's also a notorious glutton, and likes messing with her servant, Youmu. Though it's clearly all just in good fun. Despite her gluttonous and seemingly airheaded nature, however, Yuyuko is also capable of being extremely knowledgable and cunning. Possibly even more so than Yukari herself...
My Thoughts: As I said, for a while, I did prefer Youmu over Yuyuko. But after a while, I think I actually prefer Yuyuko over Youmu now. They're both in my Top 10, don't get wrong. It's just that I think Yuyuko actually has more going for her in my opinion. Let me put it in this way.
Yuyuko is the Epitome of Beauty. She has a beautiful design, a beautiful personality, beautifully graceful fighting style (see fighting game sprites), her song, Border of Life, is beautiful, and Yuyuko has one of the most beautifully tragic backstories in the series.
I didn't really think too much of her before, but after thinking about it some more, I feel like Yuyuko could actually be one of my favorites in the series. Right up their with the likes of Meiling, Utsuho, and Reisen (more on the latter two later). It's just a shame that like with many of the characters in the series, Yuyuko suffers with the problem of flanderization. In her case it's focusing on her gluttonous trait. It can be funny at times, but still, there's more to Yuyuko than just eating anything and everything.
Ran Yakumo (Shikigami of the Gap Youkai)
Master of Chen and the Shikigami and Righthand Woman of Yukari Yakumo. Ran is a former resident of the Animal Realm and an associate of the notorious Yuuma Toutetsu before the latter become the leader of the Gouyoku Alliance. However, Ran started to become disgusted with the realm's beastly ideology and left for Gensokyo. Eventually Yukari found her, and the gap youkai made Ran her shikigami. Being a kitsune (or a shikigami possessing the body of a kitsune) that possesses a full set of nine tails, Ran is a very wise, old, and powerful youkai. She's powerful enough to have a shikigami of her own, Chen.
My Thoughts: I didn't think too much about Ran before. I liked her design, but that was mostly due to me liking the aforementioned Tails from the Sonic Series who, as you may or may not know, is actually based off of the legendary kitsune. (I still like to joke about Ran being Tails' long lost ancestomother. Lol.) However, some time after UDoALG came out and expanded on her backstory, I think I've grown to like Ran much more. I think her history is Yuuma is interesting because of the possible scenarios you can make with them. What kind of scenarios? One word. ANGST. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, and I am sure that the two are still pretty close friends (at least I've read that Yuuma still treats her as such), but still whether you view them as former friends or even exes, the fact that they've gone in drastically different directions in life coupled with the fact that Yuuma is unrepentantly evil and (along with her rivals, Yachie and Saki) intends to conquer Gensokyo for herself which Yukari and Ran would not approve of, I can imagine it could cause a rift in the two's friendship. I just think it's interesting to explore the concept of how their circumstances could impact their relationship.
As for Ran's theme, Necrofantasy. It pretty good, even if I prefer the theme most associate her with Charming Domination ~ Who Done It? (I personally associate with the Yakumo family as a whole), as well as Yukari's theme Necrofantasia (which is a remix of Necrofantasy). In the former's case, It has this sort of climatic feel to it; As if you're in the final stretch before facing off against Yukari, with just both of her shikigami's (or at least Ran) standing in your way. It's one of if not one of my favorite stage themes in all of Touhou, especially the PCB Version.
Overall, Ran might be one my favorite characters from PCB, besides Yuyuko and Youmu.
Yukari Yakumo (Youkai of Boundaries)
A legendary youkai sage who serves as Ran and Chen's master and is able to manipulate boundaries. Her gaps allow her to travel almost anywhere, including the Outside World! Yukari is rather whimsical and lazy; She spends most of her time asleep, and in her waking hours, she likes to mess around with those around her. Despite this, Yukari is an extremely powerful youkai and is also very cunning. Because of how well informed she is, Yukari is a master planner, and is able to manipulate events and the people around her to get what she wants. Because of her unpredictable personality, many humans and youkai alike tend to avoid Yukari. Nobody knows what she will do next...
My Thoughts: Yukari. Yukari, Yukari, Yukari... My feelings toward Yukari are... mixed to say the least. What do I mean by that? She somehow manages to be incredible (in terms of power), attractive, annoying, insufferable, and scary all at the same time. I'm not going to bother explaining that second thing, so let's talk everything else.
I say she's incredible because she just goes to how powerful Touhou characters can get. Yukari isn't the MOST POWERFUL character ever to exist in fiction, or even the most powerful Touhou character, but she still comes very close to it. She's able to manipulate boundaries and borders. Do you know what that means? In a nutshell, it basically mean she can practically do whatever to heck she feels like. She's more or less a reality-warper. In a series where two vampire kids can manipulate fate and destroy absolutely anything, respectively, a ghost princess who can control death itself, a fairy tale princess who can manipulate eternity and the instantaneous, and a pet hell raven who make miniature stars, Yukari's ability is still pretty terrifying. I'm not saying all of Touhou's characters are nigh-unstoppable gods who can destroy anyone in a fight to the death, but still, and I say this as someone who watches Death Battle and has seen what kind of crazy stuff that characters it's featured can do, Yukari is the epitome of a cast whose more powerful characters are even capable of destroying most of Marvel, Dragon Ball, and even DC Comics casts, when they're at their fullest potential. Now how they'd fare against toons is another story entirely, but my point still stands.
Why do I say Yukari is annoying and insufferable? Well, let's just say she's not exactly the best person to be around... She's lazy, she's a prankster, and when she isn't one of those two things, she most likely has an ulterior motive in mind for taking an interest in you; like you being a part of her plan or something. She's unpredictable, but I'd say that's the whole point of her character. She can easily alternate being the ultimate good in a situation and the ultimate evil in another. Of course, I will give her credit. Everything she does is for the good of Gensokyo and for maintaining it's balance. So... yeah. As reiterate my ultimate good and evil point, she's not this justice-upholding hero, but she's not some cold and heartless villain either. She's could afford to treat Ran better though... And to stop being so sensitive about her age, at least in fanon.
Above all though, when you think about it Yukari is actually pretty... terrifying. As I said, she's one of the most powerful characters in Touhou, and maybe even all of fiction. And even if she isn't the latter, she's smart and cunning enough to outwit beings who are stronger than her... she's also aware of everything that goes on in Gensokyo, and while I imagine it's not easy to do because of how carefree she usually is, crossing her is basically a death sentence, so you have to watch yourself if you happen to cross paths with her even if she starts to get on your nerves. As if that wasn't scary enough, thanks to her gaps, Yukari can go almost anywhere, including the Outside World. Of course, she's just a fictional character, so there's no way she could actually show up in the real world, but still, the idea that Yukari could very well show up where you live at literally anytime, is terrifying. Especially if you take one of ZUN's comments about her separating Gensokyo from the real world at face value.
So what does all of THIS say about how I feel about Yukari? She's kinda weird. Her boss theme is pretty cool though.
Suika Ibuki (Tiny Night Parade a Hundred Demons)
Another old friend of Yukari's who has the ability to manipulate density. Suika is your typical oni. She has a love for drinking, partying, and fighting. She also possess the strength of an oni, being able to single handedly throw large boulders, and hates cowardice and dishonesty, even though she's slightly less honest than most oni. Suika herself is a happy-go-lucky fellow and can act as childish as she looks at times. However she's also very observant and can be rather critical of others at times.
My Thoughts: I'll make this shorter. Between her, Yuugi, and Kasen, I say I prefer Suika the least. She's not a character I dislike, she's just not one I hold much interest in. I do like her theme from SWR, Broken Moon though. It's pretty groovy.
Overall: I think PCB's cast is a step up from EoSD's. I don't really care too much for Letty or Lily, and Chen and IaMP debut, Suika, are just alright to me, but everyone else is a pretty interesting in their own right. Alice, The Prismrivers, Youmu, Yuyuko, Ran, and yes, even Yukari, have at least something about them that makes them pretty interesting to me, even if they're not a favorite of mine. I think overall, the PCB cast has this "je ne sais quoi" about them that I find very interesting. This game is where setting-wise, Touhou starts becoming more like "Touhou" as we know it, and I think these characters (at least most of them) really drive home that point.
  1. Yuyuko Saigyouji
  2. Ran Yakumo
  3. Youmu Konpaku
  4. Yukari Yakumo
  5. Prismriver Sisters
  6. Chen
  7. Suika Ibuki
  8. Letty Whiterock
  9. Lily White
So those are my thoughts on the Perfect Cherry Blossom cast. Let me know what your thoughts are.
Up next will be the cast for Imperishable Night.

Sallie Winchester + The Little Mermaid in WAOLOM Eras Visuals
I forgot how the west was won…
How was the west won? With a shotgun…specifically, a Winchester rifle, Model 73, which is known as “The Gun that Won the West”. (yes, I am well aware the west was “won” via colonization, the massacre of indigenous peoples, the slaughter of animal/plant life, the enslavement of Africans, and the quasi-enslavement of Chinese and Asian peoples)
I am going to take you on a journey that is long, meandering, and hopefully loosely braided together by the end. We will be discussing the following topics: The Winchesters, The Winchester Mystery House, Spiritualism, and The Little Mermaid. This is not a fully formed theory, but I do believe it will serve as a building block for other theories that come along.
Full WAOLOM Intro Visuals
Sarah Winchester: Widow, Heiress, Mad Woman
Looking at the visuals for WAOLOM, I was struck by the similarities to the Winchester house and to the story of Sarah Winchester (Sarah Lockwood Pardee), known as Sallie. In 1862, Sallie married William Wirt Winchester, the heir to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1866, she gave birth to Annie, her daughter who died within a month of birth. Tragically, between the fall of 1880 and the spring of 1881, Sallie’s mother, father-in-law, and her husband died. In 1881, after her father-in-law and husband died within 3 months of one another, Sallie Winchester inherited the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1884, one of Sallie’s sister died. In 1885, at the age of 46, Sallie moved to California from New Haven, CT.
In 1886, Sallie purchased a 2-story farmhouse outside of San Jose, California. This house would come to be known as the Llanda Villa during Sallie’s lifetime and later it would be dubbed The Winchester Mystery House. Immediately upon moving in, Sallie began to remodel the home. In 1888, Sallie’s favourite niece, Marion “Daisy” Merriman, moved in with her. For the remainder of Sallie Winchester’s life, her home was under construction – from 1886-1922. At the age of 83, Sallie died on 7 September, 1922.

First house visual as Taylor ascends
The story I am about to share has many iterations - some are factual, some are embellished, some are entirely fabricated. The recurring theme is that Sallie is presented as a Mad Woman, a savant, or just a woman ahead of her time in every iteration.
As the story goes, Sallie was haunted by the tragedy her life had presented her with – a dead baby, an inability to have more children, and many familial deaths clustered together. After meeting with a Spiritualist, Sallie believed that she was cursed, hunted and haunted by the ghosts of those who had been murdered at the hands of Winchester legacy – the Winchester rifle, the gun that won the west. The Spiritualist (Adam Coons) informed Sallie that she needed to construct a house for the ghosts and that it must never be completed.
By 1895, locals had begun to discuss the strange woman who was building a home that seemingly never seemed to cease construction. Rumours started that she believed she would die if she ceased construction on the home. Organ music could be heard late at night. There were rumours that she had parties for spirits with gold serving wear and that she used the bell tower to summon the spirits. While the rumours abounded, there were instances of her those close to her refuting them, saying that Sallie was a very sensible and stable woman – she played the organ when she had insomnia, the belltower was used for workers, and there was never any gold serving wear.
The Winchester Mystery House is constructed of doors that go to nowhere, staircases that lead to nothing or end at a ceiling, doors that open to a deadly drop off, windows that go to nothing, trap doors in the floor, very shallow stairs, etc. These were rumoured to be traps for spirits, so they’d become confused and trapped, thus unable to haunt Sallie and her family. The counter to this is that the windows once went somewhere, but that they were closed off when the house was extended, that the shallow stairs were for Sallie’s declining health, etc. Was she a Mad Woman or an independent woman at a time when women weren’t allowed to be?

The Winchester 13
The Winchester Mystery House is known for the number 13 – 13 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 13 windows in certain rooms, etc. However, according to their website, most of these 13 related features were added after Sallie’s death. That said, the home is still deeply associated with the number 13.
Links to Taylor
What does all of this have to do with Taylor? I’m not entirely sure! But, I think there is a connection to her because of the imagery and the links to Mad Women, being trapped in houses with spirits haunting you, becoming a myth and a legend while still being alive and misunderstood. The name Sarah also stands out to me…Sarah was called Sallie, so it’s almost like an alter ego that you’ve forsaken, but will always be remembered as, is looking over your shoulder for the duration of your life and into the afterlife. ”Sarahs and Hannahs…”
By the end of the visuals, the house has expanded significantly...similar to the Winchester Mansion
WAOLOM Imagery
I think there is something about the tour imagery where we zoom into the attic window (attics of our mind) and into the silhouette, only to emerge in what feels like that person’s mind/inner world…and then we are pulled out even further to see Taylor in all of her feminine rage (the musical). If she is a spirit trapped inside of the house of her mind, then is what we are seeing the manifestation of her inner thoughts/fears/desires or is the woman in the attic the authentic self that has been locked away and what we are seeing on stage at the Eras tour is the performative self that was forced to lock away the authentic self because she’s an unaccepted Mad Woman?

Taking these thoughts further, the WAOLOM imagery we see progresses even further and encompasses The Little Mermaid. It’s simultaneously showing us that one version of Taylor is The Little Mermaid and one version of Taylor is The Sea Witch – she is both victim and villain, hero and anti-hero. Taylor has both given up her voice and is also wielding it with ferocious power and magic.

I don’t know the show Supernatural well enough to make significant connections to this, but I do find worthy of note:
  1. The entire trend of “Bi-Wife Energy” comes from the Supernatural fandom. It was about the actor who plays Castile, an Angel. The cute little song that went viral was created by a queer creator from that fandom.
  2. Dean and Castile were most likely gay and in love with one another, but were never allowed to be together because of how conservative the network (The CW) was. The actors have acknowledged this in retrospect.
  3. Sam and Dean Winchester

LWYMMD Music Video
This is not the first time we have seen a Winchester Mystery House style of mansion. It is possible the WAOLOM imagery is a continuation of that story, in some way. A house full of spirits with the owner being a summoner? Taylor rising up?

Flowers in the Attic
It would also be remise to not mention the similarity of the figure and the house to the cover of Flowers in the Attic. I'm not sure what that means, although I lean towards the New Romantics/Mass Movement theory.
Book and movie covers
I hope this was entertaining and a somewhat worthwhile contribution to our little fandom!

Name: Louis "The Invisible Man" Corbett
Age: 35
Height: 5 foot 11
Weight: 173 lbs
Appearance: A little muscle but somewhat skinny enough to not seem threatening American with medium long Black hair.
Personality: Devoted to his family as he is their strongest warrior so he will do anything can to protect his family while also being very cocky because of his strengths while also caring for his wife named Yumi who is 6 months pregnant.
Backstory: His family, The Corbett Clan, have been in constant war with a clan of giants called The Bähr Clan because of a river of Black Water that gave both clans their power where the Corbetts gained incredible speed and those of Bähr gained incredible strength and they've been fighting ever since and Louis is one of the strongest members of his family of the new generation able to disappear at the drop of a leaf.
Fighting Style: Corbett Clan Style Rough and Tumble.
Special Moves: Disappear- This is the Corbett Clans bread and butter this ability gained by years of training and fighting as well as the Black Rivers Gift allows them to move at exceptional speeds but its only second to The Mikazuchi Clans Technique- Lightning Flash but Louis is able to match Mikazuchi Clan members making him faster than anyone in his clan or family and it also turns their bodies slightly purple while using it.
Tear- While using Disappear Louis blitzes past the enemy and grins as he shows that he either ripped off their nose, ear, or sometimes tongue and that when the pain starts coursing through the opponents body as they realize what happened.
Mirage- When the opponent throws a punch Louis quickly dodges backwards then back forwards to make it seem like they just punched a mirage which is similar to Niko Style- Phantom Pace and using Disappear with it would allow him to go even faster than before able to dodge like water.
Fake Knockout- It either starts off as a Right or Left Hook but the goal is for the opponent to block it and at the same time as they block it Louis unleashes the worlds fastest straight punch shattering the opponents nose and face knocking them backwards unconscious.
Feats: Fast enough to be on par with Mikazuchi Clan Members.
His fingers strength is trained high enough to be able to rip off fingers.
Weaknesses: His Fighting Style mostly relies on his speed so his biggest weakness is grappling but you also have to be fast enough to grab him as he could quickly pull out of a possible hold, clinch, or grapple.
Representing Slaughter Colliseum.

Intro: We are reporting live at the site of Bunny’s Pokémon Big Brother Finale House! The crowd is thick and loud as fans from all over are excited to watch the sixteen champions enter the house LIVE! We stand in Poketopia, home of the Battle Revolution! The Shining Neon Colloseum, in a penthouse suite in the grand city is where the final bout will begin! Here come the Legendary Sixteen right now!!!! Lance the original winner is so stunning in his armor! Carlos has evolved and looks much tougher. Nickels is strutting in conifdent as ever next to Xio, who looks completely unphased by all of the winners around her! Selene fits right in with the bright lights. Looks like Candy is evolved as well and—OH—she tripped over Splaatz. That’s embarrassing and you can tell she isn’t happy even if she’s putting on a smile. Dirk and Echo are next, both eyeing up the competition already. Echo being evolved now already ups his threat level. Mobee gets an uproarious cheer from the crowd! And WOW the Professor gracefully glides over the crowd! He really did escape capture back in Mazda’s Season. Lisette seems to be meditating and Maeva is pumping herself up. She looks a bit snooty now that we know how she really is but we are eager to see how she plays. Dayley-Jane gets another huge cheer from the crowd. She really is a lovable gal ain’t she? DJ clicks a track on the DJ booth to keep one last song playing but then hops out to join the entourage. She’s still keeping up her day job too, so inspiring! Finally, Benedict walks up. Unlike the others, he looks somber. Wonder what his deal is? Oh well, let’s watch them all compete in the bright stadium for the first HOH!
First HOH: In this bright lights HOH, the houseguests all race to complete a task, with the first to complete it knocking someone out of the running. In the first heat, Maeva clears first and knocks out Bane because he came in second and is a huge comp threat. In the next round, Echo wins and takes out Maeva, who just won. Splaatz wins round three by accident and takes out Day, who was big on his original season. Candy wins next and takes out Nickels. Xio takes out DJ, followed by Benedict winning and immediately knocking Xio out. Candy wins again and takes out Dirk. Echo then wins again to take out Candy before she gets too much momentum. Carlos wins and takes out Lance, Mobee then wins and takes out Carlos, Benedict then wins and takes out Mobee! Splaatz wins again and takes out Selene as she is hiding in the background. Lisette wins the next round to take out Benedict. In the final three, Echo wins again and takes out Lisette, as she did a good job hiding til then. In Splaatz versus Echo, the fish surprisingly keeps up with the dragon and at the last second, takes over?!?!?! Splaatz is the first HOH!
Week 1: Splaatz is very confused how he won that last round but Echo comes up and congratulates him. The two get along well and Splaatz works up the courage to ask to be in an alliance, which the dragon happily agrees. Bane goes to Candy to tell her that the villains need to stick together, she agrees and they grab Maeva. She is initially reluctant, not trusting Bane, but she agrees eventually. Mobee goes to monitor the living room like before and DJ flies up to him. They end up chatting and realize they enjoy each other. At the nomination ceremony, Splaatz has decided to put up DJ and Dirk, saying how he doesn’t want to make too much waves and this seems to be the way to do it best. Dirk is unamused and DJ is frightened. Echo gets suspicious of Bane and shares his thoughts with Nickels, they pull in Carlos to form an anti-villain alliance. Benedict eavesdrops and plans his next move. He goes up to Nickels and makes up how Dirk must be playing the villain this time, because he is acting weird. Nickels considers his approach but ultimately decides to trust him as an alliance member. At the veto, Carlos, Echo, and Mobee all play but it comes down to Carlos and Splaatz. Splaatz ends up winning again but while actually trying and is exuberant! DJ pleads with him but he ultimately keeps his noms the same.
After the veto ceremony, Benedict tells DJ to do as he says and trust him, as Gigi did. She agrees and starts buttering up to the villains. She gets Candy to be even nicer to the house and apologize to Splaatz. She also helps Bane create a new game. Meanwhile, Benedict starts prodding Dirk and Day, causing them to be at odds with each other. Dirk eventually snaps and lashes out at Day, shocking everyone. Maeva can tell something fishy is happening but rolls with it since it is week one. At the eviction ceremony in the glittering colosseum, the two nominees tell why they should stay. Dirk is more bitter while DJ stays heartfelt, convincing everyone but a suspicious Maeva. In the end, by a vote of 12 to 1… Dirk, you have been evicted.
Week 2: The next HOH is a high flying roulette-themed obstacle course, based off of the Neon Colosseum’s roulette rules. DJ and Mobee work together to get to the end but Nickels keeps up with them. In the final stretch, Mobee sees Nickels catching up and throws DJ, giving her just enough of an edge to win the HOH! Nickels and Maeva both approach DJ to tell her their suspicions on Benedict’s behavior. At first, they fight, but realizing they have the same goal causes them to cut it out long enough to tell her. DJ is reluctant but Maeva reminds her how he betrayed Gigi and she is firm. Benedict and Carlos become the nominees. Day, Echo, and Maeva play in the veto and Echo actually manages to come out on top over Day. Echo talks with Nickels about saving Carlos but she is hesitant, telling him that Carlos makes a good pawn next to benedict because everyone likes Carlos. He ends up not using it. During the week, Benedict begins making breakfast early, irritating his roommate Carlos and causing him to be grumpier. Xio confronts Benedict for this, telling him he is purposefully making Carlos mad and it’s brutal. He tells her he doesn’t understand the problem if Carlos doesn’t like breakfast. She sneers but doesn’t have a comeback. The next day, Benedict holds a house meeting. He apologizes if he’s been rubbing people the wrong way but he is just trying to fit in since he is newer. Lisette says that everyone should give him a chance, which the villains, Selene, and Mobee agree with. Echo, Carlos, Nickels, and Maeva are all hesitant. At the eviction ceremony, Carlos is grumpy and bitter and doesn’t do much to defend himself. Benedict, again apologizes. In a 9 to 3 vote… Carlos is evicted.
Week 3: Several house membets are completely shocked by Carlos going home, including HOH DJ and his two allies, Nickels and Echo. Also surprised is Xio. The next HOH is an endurance comp called the floor is lava based off of the Lava Colosseum! Mobee, Splaatz, and Xio are the last three remaining. Knowing she was on the outs of the last vote, Xio fights hard to survive, fighting her pain. Splaatz eventually drops and Mobee remains with Xio. Eventually, Mobee drops and Xio wins! Xio already knows her noms. She puts up Benedict next to Selene, as she was one of the people vouching for him last round. Benedict chooses to stay back and not make too much of a scene this round, lest he blow up his cover. Meanwhile, DJ and Mobee plan how to move forward. Maeva is listening in to this convo and realizes how close they are. At the veto, a mental comp, Selene ends up winning by a landslide, saving herself. Maeva rushes to Xio about the DJ and Mobee situation, and points out how Mobee is a comp threat as well. Xio decides Mobee is a good replacement, as he is likeable and a good pawn next to Benedict. Mobee holds a house meeting and cries during it, thinking he was doing so much better at being friendly this time. Maeva calls him out for his crocodile tears and argues that he is putting on an act. Lisette calls out Maeva for being so harsh and chastises her for being such a villain. Maeva asks her if she is planning on voting for him to stay and she is silent, but says that shouldn’t matter. Maeva retorts and says it’s not jury so jury management doesn’t exist yet. At the eviction, Mobee is shaking next to a smug Benedict. Benedict’s speech touches on how Mobee doesn’t seem ready for the big leagues. The bear gets up angrily and almost picks up Benedict, shocking everyone. He stops himself and realizes what he did. The vote comes in and by a vote of 8 to 3, Mobee, you have been evicted.
Week 4: The next HOH begins as they houseguests must ascend a glimmering rock wall, themed after the Crystal colosseum. Day and Maeva take an early lead but are caught up by falling rocks. Lisette closes the gap and eventually surpasses Maeva. Day and Lisette race for the end and… Lisette win! Lisette in her HOH room ponders about who to put up and ally with. She turns to Xio, Day, and Selene as her allies. The Witch’s Coven, as they call themselves, wants to shift the focus, as Benedict is doing too well at not going home. Instead, Lisette targets Maeva, who is playing sneaky, as well as Benedict’s ally, Echo. Bane laughs at Maeva being on the block and she is enraged with him. He says “it doesn’t matter since it’s not jury yet.” Having her own words turned on her, Maeva storms out and swears she will get revenge on him and Candy. At the POV, the witches’ coven is playing with three members and Xio ends up winning! She chooses to keep the nominations the same. Splaatz goes to Lance to tell him how much it means to be there with one of his heros, but Lance mishears him and calls him out for calling him a rude name. The two get in a petty argument where Lance’s bad hearing keeps making things worse. Meanwhile, Maeva tries to get the vote off of her by spreading anti-Benedict propaganda around the house. Day has a change of heart about this and wants to vote out Echo, even while her alliance is targeting Maeva. Benedict, aware his name is still out there, pleads to DJ not to vote out his ally. At the eviction, Maeva thinks she has done enough work but the vote comes out and is a 5 to 5. The Coven is shocked, one of their own must have flipped. But Lisette gets to break the tie, and is all too happy to evict her target, Maeva.
Week 5: The next HOH is themed after the Sunset colosseum, and sees the houseguests racing to stack piles of rubble. Echo, DJ, and Xio make the highest stack but DJ’s crumbles before the time limit. Both wanting to take control, Echo and Xio try really hard to build the highest. The timer buzzes aaaand Echo is the winner! Benedict instinctively high fives Echo and celebrates with him. Later, Nickels is peeved that Echo is so publicly working with Benedict. Echo tells her she had the opportunity to have a good ally but she chose to burn that bridge and that’s her fault. Offended, she tells him to make that alliance with Benedict work out but she won’t be part of it. Echo is saddened, but doesn’t want to put Nickels up. Instead, he shifts the target to former villains, with Bane being the target and Selene going up next to him. Xio cheers that Selene could be going home, making the Lamp angry at her, since they were supposed to be working together. Benedict goes on to win the veto and vows to Echo not to use it. However, at the veto ceremony, he uses it to save Selene, shocking everyone as he winks at Xio. Echo then solidifies this by putting Xio up. Selene goes to her to tell her she is sorry for their misunderstanding but they work together. Candy turns to Lisette and tells her she is tired of working with Bane and if she helps her get the Professor out this week, she will work with her. Lisette agrees, knowing everyone wants Bane out anyways. At the eviction, Xio seemingly patches things up with everyone. The vote comes in, by a unanimous vote… Bane, you are evicted.
Double Eviction: Surprise! The Jury starts tonight and the next HOH is beginning right now with one more person leaving! A quiz colosseum is held in the Sunset colloseum, with one miss causing someone to be out of the running. It comes down to DJ, Nickels, and Lisette. But Lisette gets the last question right and the other two miss, with Lisette winning her second HOH. Lisette puts up Nickels and Day. Nickels because she is playing a lowkey game but making waves in the Benedict situation. Day because she wavered on her vote for Benedict. She doesn’t put down Benedict as he is good for drama and polarizing the house, which is good for her game. Nickels wins the veto and takes herself off. Lisette decides to put up Splaatz, because she is worried he will fumble his way to the end. Most people seem to share this idea except for Echo, who wants to wotk with Splaatz. The vote comes in. By a vote of 7 to 1… Splaatz, you have been evicted and will be moving into the jury house.
Week 6: The Next HOH begins as a race through the mysterious mansion in the courtyard colosseum. No one can tell where anyone is but Candy comes out first and wins! As HOH, Candy calls in Benedict. She tells him he has been playing a sloppy and obvious villain game and he is gonna get evicted too soon if he doesn’t simmer down and get some real allies. He is shocked and admits he just wants to win. She says they all do and the least they can do is help each other. She says she will help him if he keeps causing more chaos and also gets DJ on their side. He agrees and talks to DJ. The squirrel is hesitant but decides it would be a great way of getting revenge on Benedict if she gets the chance. Candy puts up Lance as the pawn next to her target, Xio, who has been against Benedict’s chaos this whole game. DJ goes on to win the veto and chooses to not give Candy any suspicion by not using it. Meanwhile, the witches coven fractures, with Day not agreeing with Lisette and Xio feeling not supported on the block by Selene. DJ infiltrates this meeting after storms out, telling them about Xio being the real target but she has a plan to keep her without drawing suspicion if they can get Day to play nice. Xio borrows an item from Lisette and breaks it. Lisette then goes to “rant” to Day, who is being nice with her, thinking they both will vote Xio. Echo, meanwhile, confirms his alliance with Benedict, and feels like he is finally gaining more traction. But the house takes this the wrong way. At the eviction, the vote comes in, and by a vote of 4 to 3… Lance, you have been evicted.
Week 7: The next HOH begins, a waterfall diving competition, based off of the Waterfall Colosseum. Whoever makes the biggest splash wins! With her natural watery prowess, Day dives in and wins the HOH! Day is approached in the HOH by Candy and Benedict, who ask her to work with them. DJ sees whats happening and goes back to Lisette and Selene. The two talk and realize that they can’t beat Benedict’s control of the house by just going against him, but they have to work with him. So the three of DJ, Lisette, and Selene enter the HOH “accidentally” and propose the six will control the house. They say they want Echo to go on the block, as he is getting too good at the comps. Benedict is hesitant but Candy nudges him, as secretly this will be great for her game. He agrees and tells Day he won’t be mad if this happens. Echo goes up next to Nickels. The two former allies face off in the veto, both bitterly making jabs at the other for turning on them. It comes down to just the two nominees and… Echo edges her out, winning the veto. Echo saves himself and puts the power in Day’s hands to put up a replacement. Her choice is the person not in her alliance who has made affronts to her, Xio. Lisette has the whole house do tarot readings to ease the tension which goes down well. Lisette gets the Sun, a symbol of positivity and creativity. Benedict draws the Moon, symbolizing Illusion and inner conflict. He shudders when the white moon of the card turns red in his hands. Echo draws the Fool, a card of new beginnings but also endings. Selene draws death, the card of change in the game. Nickels draws the Hermit, a card of isolation and reflection. Candy draws the Lovers, with the card representing connections and pairs, symbolizing her manipulation of Benedict. Day draws Strength, a card of inner strength and Willpower. Xio draws the Tower, representing sudden downfall and incredible sudden changes. She shudders and uses the moment to apologize to everyone, saying she wants to be a beacon of hope but got lost. The house receives this well. Benedict considers flipping to Xio because of her show of faith being bad but Candy reminds him that Xio is on the bottom of the pecking order on that side, likely meaning they don’t even have to take her out. He relents and the eviction goes through. The vote comes in and by a vote of 5 to 1, Nickels you have been evicted.
Week 8: The Next HOH begins in the Sunny Park colosseum, with contestants having to hunt for pellets and use them to knock out targets. DJ and Echo prove the most adept but in a last second victory, Echo wins. Benedict goes to Echo in the HOH but Echo has realized too late that Benedict is working with everybody, even causing him to turn on Nickels. Benedict doesn’t try to hide his smug smirk as he agrees and walks out, daring him to put him on the block. He feels this must be hiding something and starts asking around the house for their opinions. Xio reveals the existence of the Witches Coven, and how they have been together for weeks, including saving her last week. Knowing of this alliance, Echo saves Xio and puts up Selene and Day. At the veto, Selene wins. Selene approaches Echo, telling him she knows of someone playing both sides, revealing DJ trying to play double agent. After she pulls herself off the block, DJ goes up as the replacement. Candy works on ingratiating herself with the outsiders in Xio and Echo, trying to forge paths ahead. But is unsuccessful at breaking Echo. Echo is accosted by DJ for putting her up over Benedict. He asks her to say why she was double crossing and she says its because she was trying to sabotage Benedict. If anything, Day, Selene, and Lisette should be the real double agents. Echo goes to rage to Selene for how she tricked him but she swears it was the truth completely, and he chose to believe it in a negative light, not her. Day joins the fight and lashes out at Xio and Selene for being the reason she is on the block. Lisette stays out of it, knowing the time to jump ship is coming up. At the eviction, Dj and DayJay give their pleas, but the votes are tallied. By a unanimous vote… Dayley-Jane, you have been evicted.
Double Eviction!!: Second double eviction because you know we gotta! The HOH starts with a lightning round of dodgeball on wooden poles. Selene is knocked out first. Then DJ gets knocked out by Candy. Lisette falls off on her own. Xio goes after Benedict but is taken out by Candy. Then Candy expertly dodges and takes out Benedict, winning the HOH. She nominates the two people who are on the bottom of the pecking order, Echo and Xio. The veto plays out with Benedict winning. Echo pleads for Benedict to help him out, as they were friends. Benedict doesn’t even look him in the eye as he chooses to not play the veto. Echo pleads to the voters to let him keep playing and he will take out Benedict, but Lisette and Selene have basically already jumped ship and moved on. The vote comes in, and by a vote of 4 to 0… Echo, you have been evicted.
Week 9: With Six houseguests remaining, they are taken to the Gateway colosseum to have mock Pokemon battles. In the first round, Xio beats Lisette and Selene beats DJ, with Benedict drawing a spot in the top 3. In a first to win two times in a row scenario, Selene beats both and comes out victorious. Selene and Lisette decide that they have to cut ties and work with the more devious players to have a better shot at the end. Selene puts up DJ and Xio, with DJ being the target. Benedict is alone in his room when he hallucinates more blood on his paws. He shouts and Xio comes in to see whats up. She helps him calm down and he realizes he is down a bad path. She helps him calm down and he thanks her, even with him harassing her all game she still helped him. Candy witnesses the two help each other out and is beyond irritated, she goes to Selene, who is still iffy on Xio, to warn her. At the veto, Candy wins it. She takes off DJ and Selene spitefully puts up Benedict, who trembles going to the block. Lisette confronts Selene for making such a rushed decision, as the goal was to keep Benedict and his threat around longer. At the eviction, Benedict argues that he has realizes how the game has changed him and he wants to prove how he changed. Lisette doesn’t believe him but DJ seems to be enamored. The vote comes in, and by a vote of 2 to 1… Xio you have been evicted.
Week 10: Five stars remain and there are five points in the Stars of the Main Street colosseum, where the houseguests go to do a full BPBB quiz! Lisette misses one question and gets behind as the other get ahead. It comes down to a tie-breaker between Dj and Benedict and the winner is… DJ! Benedict goes to apologize to DJ for real and she forgives him, happy to see his true self back again. She feels played by Selene and Candy so they go on the block. Lisette is still suspicious of Benedict and starts watching him for suspicious activity, noticing him look at his paws a lot. She decides to talk to him with the ruse of working together. At the veto, DJ wins again and claims her game, choosing not to use the veto. Realizing the danger they are in, Selene and Candy go to their respective closest allies, Benedict and Lisette. The two touch base with Benedict telling Lisette he is fine voting Candy with her, as he doesn’t want to force DJ to have to break a tie. At the eviction, the votes are read and by a vote of 2 to 0… Selene, you have been evicted. Benedict looks over at Lisette with a shocked look, realizing she caught on to him.
Week 10: As the final HOH starts, the houseguest are in the Stargazer colosseum for an epic triathlon of quizzes, endurance, and races. In the first part, Benedict pulls ahead, with Lisette on his tail. He falls behind in part two, giving Lisette and Candy a chance to catch him. The three are neck and neck in part three but Lisette comes out on top! Benedict goes to Lisette on her HOH to grovel but she stops him, saying she misheard the vote last week and though the vote was for Selene anyways so its good he didn’t make poor DJ break the tie. He feels reassured and goes back out. Lisette puts up DJ and Candy as the nominees. Lisette reassures DJ about how Benedict likes her and she wouldn’t go home. Benedict touches base with Lisette, claiming that he knows DJ has too much social traction and needs to go next because of this. On his way out, Candy enters the room and chats with Lisette. She says that the noms should stay the same so DJ can be evicted for sure this week. Lisette doesn’t trust her and tells her to her face she is no better than Benedict, but is powerless without him. The two stare each other down. At the veto, Lisette wins it, and Benedict sighs a sigh of relief. But Lisette shocks everyone by saving Candy and puts up Benedict. Lisette calls him out for faking his turnaround to play with everyone’s emotions. He breaks down, claiming his intense want, no, NEED to win the game. He can’t get it out of his head and it burdens him with the thoughts of betrayal, including the allies he betrayed this season, with Nickels, Echo, and even Xio who showed him so much kindness leaving because of him. DJ is in tears and even Candy can’t watch. Afterwards, Benedict goes to his only real ally, Candy. He begs her for advice on how to get out of this, as she helped him so much. She looks him in the eye as she tells him that he did this to himself. At the eviction, Candy gets the sole vote to evict and casts it to evict, Benedict.
The Reunion: Folks we are live again right outside the Neon Colosseum for the Finale of Bunny’s Pokémon Big Brother Champion Royale! Our Sixteen winners have been whittled down to three and it is not what we expected at all! In a house where everyone wants to be the biggest truck on the highway, we have three mid-sized sedans who have slipped through the gaps and swept their way to the end. DJ VOLT SWITCH, Elesa’s iconic Emolga who created the jams we are listening to even right now! She plays up her social game very well with honesty and loyalty, but is no slouch in the competitions. Though she has been left out of some secrets in the game, she was well=liked in the house and leveraged her position between alliances to get information! Sweet Candy the Wigglytuff who played Sickly Sweet last but downright Sick this time. She got in close with all of the villains but managed to be the cherry flavored licorice that was easier to manage. She avoided detection aligning with big villain Benedict and hiding behind the scenes of his chaos, even almost controlling his moves at points. The Sunstone herself, LISETTE the Solrock, who foresaw victory once, but is this a double reading? Lisette bided her time throughout the game, getting whatever information she could and waiting to play it until the time was right. She was at the center of multiple alliances but always stayed just far enough away from the drama that no one was even targeting her. The Sun? No Lisette is after The World!
Joining us on stage now are the 9 jurors! Starting with Splaatz—Ope watch your step, you gotta be careful or else you’ll trip. Here comes Lance the OG! Though he is old he is still our knight in shining armor. Nickels struts up so casually ooh lala. Here comes Echo, kind of sheepishly, don’t be shy buddy! Day gracefully swims up on stage, still to audience cheering. Wait, the cheering is getting louder? Oh it’s Xio! She is surprisingly well-received. Selene keeps the applause growing. She seems to be goading the audience on with her behavior, not wanting to stay out of the spotlight hmm. And then—oh wow I can’t hear anything with the thunder of the crowd for… Benedict? Interesting outcome here that our little villain has become a real crowd pleaser. Even as he walks to his seat with his head held low.
The jurors speak with our lovely reporter. Lance speaks about how great it was to come back and how this game is way changed from when he won season 1. Xio and Nickels agree, but they still worked hard to adapt to the changes. Selene scoffs a bit, another early winner, she notes that herself and Candy were very well integrated, they just needed to change their approach. Xio says it was much harder playing from the bottom rather than the top and it was a fight, but she had a ton of fun doing so. Day mentions she felt the same way. A house full of winners is not to be underestimated for a second, as they all could be planning many different things behind each other’s backs. Splaatz is—oh he’s asleep… moving on. Nickels asks Echo about how he changed his game this time, and why he turned on her. He apologizes, saying he was blinded by seeing opportunities with Benedict because he didn’t fight with him, only told him what he wanted to hear. And he realized too late that that was a ruse. She accepts his apologies and all eyes turn to Benedict. He looks up, seemingly just noticing eyes are on him. He looks down at his paws. “All I’ve seen since last season is blood on my paws. The need to win never left me. I had to do it at all cost. I lost myself in that game and resorted to every trick in the book to make the winners trust me. And it worked… but I fell deeper and deeper down the hole. And now, I don’t feel like I deserved to win at all.” Xio jumps up and makes him look up. “You deserved your win as much as we all deserved ours. It’s a game, it doesn’t have to define you. You define you, so get up and prove it.” Benedict is in disbelief that Xio is still defending him. “You hear that crowd? They were entertained, we entertained them! Your devioushness entertained them! You gave them a show by tricking a bunch of winners, so own up to it and be the entertainer we know you are.” He gives off a small, barely noticeable, but definitely real this time, smile. Xio turns to the crowd “ARE YOU GUYS READY FOR OUR FINAL THREE???” The crowd erupts in excitement!! “THEN GET READY BECAUSE HERE THEY ARE!!”
Final HOH Part 1: The HOH opens on top of the rotating Roulette wheel in the Neon Colosseum, with the audience now filled and the three houseguests circling in the middle, holding on for dear life. At the same time, they are throwing dodgeballs at each other. Candy is targeting Lisette out of spite, putting on a performance for the audience about how Lisette is a traitor to their alliance. DJ is caught in the crossfire but expertly dodges. She manages to catch a ball that Candy threw and chucks it back, knocking her out. Lisette smiles at DJ but DJ knows she still has to win. She tells Lisette she is sorry but she is done working with people and has to take her game into her own hands, not relying on others to fail but herself to succeed. Lisette agrees, but she wants to be the one to succeed. Lisette lobs a ball at Dj and knocks her out, winning Part 1.
Final HOH Part 2: Part begins with Candy and DJ on the Rotating Roulette platform again, racing around to land the colored balls in order of the competitions and the winners of each one. DJ takes an early lead, having been very aware of the game the whole beginning. Candy struggles at first but when she catches up to leaving the villains alliance and joining Benedict, she takes off, knowing how well she played Benedict as her own puppet that she controlled votes for that she easily crushes the midgame part. Her lead takes her ahead on time going into the endgame. DJ misses a key vote and has to go back, but Candy remembers who saved Benedict countless times, and gets it right, winning part 2.
Final HOH Part 3: The crowd is in uproars as Candy and Lisette reach the stage for final quiz, again on our roulette platform (we paid a lot of money for that). Each juror question goes by, with Lisette and Candy answering in tandem, Both get question after question correct, eventually reaching the last question about Benedict. The crowd is shocked as they both answer together again and… get it wrong. Well, that’s anticlimactic. Benedict sighs, no one knew his true self. But the tie-breaker is revealed, how many rotations has the rotating platform made? With both answering two numbers away from each other, Candy goes just over, eliminating her, and crowning Lisette the final HOH. Lisette has both DJ and Candy in front of her. She doesn’t say much but looks at them. She says that DJ played an impeccable social game and is incredibly loved by the fans and the house. Candy, meanwhile, played a strategic game and almost fooled her a couple times. She turns to Candy “I made a gamble with bringing a social threat to the end before with Amni, but not this time. Candy, let’s give em a show.” And casts her vote to evict DJ.
The Jury Questioning: DJ isn’t shocked, she did a lot this time around and knew she made herself a bigger threat. She exits the house and gets cheers from the audience! She hops to the DJ booth and begins playing the final epic track for the showdown between Candy and Lisette. Both have been in this position before in the final 2 and both have won, but now, only one can become a two-time winner and be crowned the ultimate Champion! Lisette opens with her speech first. She pitches her game strong, how she gravitated towards groups in the early game without committing too strongly, so she didn’t go down with the ship. She still managed to control so many votes in the house by having reach with her Witches Coven and eventually jumping ship and siding with Benedict, as she knew he was under Candy’s thumb and she could infiltrate that alliance to get to the end and destroy it. The jury is impressed by her showing and all eyes turn to Candy. Candy starts saying how she knew her game was already known going into the house and she had to play different. Her main strategy was to fall into the background and connect with the players playing sloppier than her so she could be the puppetmaster and sneak to the end. And for her, that was found in Benedict, who she found it very easy to manipulate. She is the villain they all knew she was but she wasn’t targeted because of her great strategy. She saved Benedict’s game and carried him to the end so that she could have a guaranteed extra life in the endgame with him. Murmurs arise from the jury, Benedict looks incredibly hurt. Xio asks Candy what her biggest move was outside of controlling Benedict. Candy says that she made sure that the villains she worked with got cut before she could get too powerful, even working with Lisette to get out Bane and Maeva. DJ gets up from the booth and asks Lisette why she went to the end with Candy instead of her if she thought Candy was going to be tougher. Lisette clarifies that she thought Candy would be good at explaining her game, but she knows not to rely on other’s failing but on herself to succeed, and DJ has a great story and was well-loved and if she wanted to win, she had to cut DJ and masterfully explain her game to the jury. Benedict finally speaks up to ask Candy if he meant anything to her at all throughout the game. She hesitates, caught off guard, before replying in all honesty that, she wanted to mentor him to be a better player. He says he did well enough for making it to the end twice and didn’t need her to do all that. In their final speeches, Candy says that she used other people as her pawns and navigated a really good game to make it to the end hidden amongst the other players. Lisette says that she played a perfect game, not even touching the block and noting that she has not received a vote against her in either of her games, this one being perfect. She finishes by saying how she played more up front and aggressive to counter the sneakier players of the season and did not back down from the threats that all the winners possessed. The jury is impressed and goes to cast their votes.
Jury Voting: Splaatz says he had a fun time playing again and wants to vote for someone who played really good, even showing him more how to play. Lance says that while some people are old school, some people are REALLY old school, but can still play with the best of the best and be even better. Nickels says she is honored to be in the winners season but one winner played like how she thinks a winner should. Day says she worked with both finalists, but she always felt the house pulling towards one player, as the sun has a lot of gravity and control over the tides. Echo says point blank that he felt the manipulation from both sides, but one felt malicious, and another felt like game, and he knows which he respects more. Xio says that some lines shouldn’t be crossed. Selene says that she was honored to be so thoroughly outplayed, turning from the Queen to the Pawn who was merely a stepping stone in someone elses game, it was thrilling. Benedict silently casts his vote. DJ cues the final tune before hopping down with her vote, saying that it should be obvious. The votes come in… by a vote of 9 to 0… the winner is…
Winner: Lisette!
Runner-Up: Candy!
Confetti cannons and flamethrowers start lighting up the sky with neon streams shining bright all over the sky! Though it is the dead of night, it is as bright as the sun, and Lisette is feeling absolutely radiant. Candy sits in shock, in disbelief. Lisette throws her the Lovers card again. “You misread it the first time so maybe you can learn before you try to tell the fortune teller what her fortune is.” Candy throws the card on the ground in anger and pouts. The jurors go and cheer for Lisette, the ultimate champion and two time winner, STILL having never received a single vote to evict in two entire seasons. The fan favorite vote comes in and… IT’S A TIE???
Fan Favorites: Benedict and Xio!!!
Benedict goes up to Candy, still fuming, and looks her in the eyes. “You know what, you really did teach me something. You taught me that some people never change, but I don’t have to be one of them.” Xio comes up and takes Benedict back to the celebration, sticking her tongue out at Candy as she leaves. The party goes through the night. The sun eventually rises, as Lisette has risen to the top of the competition, as this era of Bunny’s Pokemon Big Brother has come to an end.
My Thoughts: I enjoyed this season a lot. It kept me on the edge as the winners played their games again, some way better than others. Gameplay-wise, I think I preferred last season but I think it’s more so because of the subtle moves made in the dark as no one wanted to be too big of a target. The villains ended up flopping early, which kind of was to be expected, given that everyone else is a relaly smart player to have won. Candy surprised me this time, sneaking in to take over Benedict, being a key player in his storyline, even a bigger villain than he tried to be. It really helped me tie up the storyline really well and I like how it happened. She also played a stellar game again, controlling things from the chaos in the shadows. The other side of the house was not slouching though. Lisette, Selene, Xio, and Day all played smart games, not committing too much to each other but still working well enough to not crumble. Lisette as a winner for this season is great! She put in work to keep her position, as it was in danger of falling apart so much. She leveraged every ally she had and every competition she had to get forward every week. And it worked as she got to the end without hitting the block AGAIN and played a PERFECT game, not receiving a single vote to evict and getting every vote to win. She did that in a winner season too, ultimate winner for sure!
So whats next? Well... that's the end. I knew since the beginning that Season 17 would be the end but it coming up still feels so weird. I am about to start a busy summer and don't have as much time for all of my hobbies but I still feel sad finishing this series. I think I am going to make a series epilogue soon so stay tuned for that but... otherwise that's it. I thank you all again so much for sticking with me the whole time, it's been a wonderful journey!

2024.05.13 21:41 MetagameMajor The Connection Between "The One Who Waits" and "Susan Twist"

I only just finished watching S1E2 "The Devil's Chord" mere minutes before posting this, but I think I already have a pretty solid idea regarding the identity of these characters and the role they will play in the overall narrative of the season at large.
For starters, I'd like to bring attention to the extremely unusual (and likely divisive) ending musical sequence that closed out this episode. More specifically, the subject matter of the song and The Doctor's fourth wall breaking behavior in particular are the details that makes this scene so important in understanding who how these characters might be connected and what their purpose may be in the context of the show.
The takeaway message of this scene (and the subject of the musical) that is conveyed to Ruby by The Doctor is that all of their perilous adventures through time and space "always end with a twist." Within the context of the scene itself, this statement and subsequent song it inspired appears at face value to be a simple boast of optimism from The Doctor to comfort Ruby and reassure her that even in their bleakest moments, The Doctor will always find a way to turn their situation around into something good. However, when this sequence is framed within the context of the show itself as a message being conveyed from the show runners to the audience rather than it's characters, it takes on a COMPLETELY different meaning.
If we interpret the meaning of this song literally, then the lyrics tell us plainly that the plot of every Doctor Who episode is written with a twist at the end that changes the outcome of the story. However, if this song is truly directed towards the audience, then there is additional context we can consider that only the audience would know. For example, fans who keep up with news relating to the show know that there is a character named Susan Twist who first appeared in the most recent Doctor Who Holiday Special and was most memorable for breaking the fourth wall during the final scene of the episode. Furthermore, we also know that this character is not only returning, but will be a reoccurring background character thoughout the new season with Russel T Davis hinting in interviews that the secret this character holds and the overall role this character will play in the story of Doctor Who when they are eventually introduced as a primary plot point will be far more impactful than we otherwise might have thought. As such, we know that this character is designed to be more than just a cheeky easter egg and that the mystery behind this character should be taken seriously, meaning the scenes in which she breaks the fourth wall have big implications on what this character is capable of within the upcoming story.
With this context in mind, the song lyrics take on an addictional meaning, implying that if every Doctor Who adventure ends with a twist, then perhaps at the end of the shows current story arc (which seems to be building up to a confrontation with The One Who Waits), the "twist at the end" that will appear may be referring quite literally to Susan Twist making herself known during the climax of the story and turning the tides in The Doctor's favor, standing in opposition to The One Who Waits.
Under the assumption that Susan's fourth wall breaks and reoccurring episode cameos are to be taken seriously within the cannon of the show as a means of legitimizing the intrigue surrounding her mysterious presence and the powers she might possess, then it is not unreasonable to assume that her existence throughout time and reality defying capabilities function similarly if not exactly like the other members of the Toy Maker's Pantheon. Much like Susan's perpetual appearance in the background of each episode of Doctor Who since the Toy Maker's defeat regardless of which time period they are in (with no indication of the passing of time besides changing costumes between each appearance), both The Toy Maker and Maestro similarly demonstrated that their existence and reality warping capabilities were also unaffected by the typical passage of time, which they have demonstrated through the continuous interactions they have with The Doctor (only changing costumes between appearances) as he bounces between the future and the past. Furthermore, we also know that their names are representative to the thesis of their existence in some way or another, with The Toy Maker representing play and Maestro representing music, perhaps "Twist" is representative of story telling. The concept of stories could be argued to be as equally intrinsic to the experience of life in the universe as the concepts of play and music, so it's not an unreasonable assumption.
Finally, the influence of The Toy Maker and Maestro which allowed for the manipulation/subversion over the laws of reality was not exclusively theirs to weild, rather these powers are merely symptomatic of the new laws of reality that are temporarily brought into world with the emergence of each Pantheon member. This is demonstrated by The Doctor with The Toy Maker who is bound to abide by the rules of whatever game he is playing and is not strictly in his favor, as demonstrated by The Doctor's Bi-Generation (a myth made possible via the laws of play) and forcibly exiling The Toy Maker against his wishes since what appears to us to be near-omnipotence in reality is just different rules of existence these beings operate within the confines of. Furthermore, we see that the emergence of these beings leaves a lasting effect on the laws of reality, lingering for a while before it fades completely from existence even after the corresponding Pantheon member is defeated. With The Toy Maker, The Doctor was able to produce a circus hammer and replicate the TARDIS in a way only possible due to the laws of play. Similarly, The Doctor was able to manifest music in a similar fashion to Maestro when challenged to a music battle and demonstrated the lingering effects of the laws of music on reality by bursting into a musical number that defied logic and by playing the crosswalk like a piano on his walk back to the TARDIS after their victory over Maestro.
If we assume that Susan Twist is a Pantheon member (representing stories) like The Toymaker and Maestro, then it re-contextualizes all the fourth wall breaking behavior demonstrated by The Doctor and Maestro in this episode. If the presence of Susan Twist is influencing the laws of reality, then Maestro playing the Doctor Who theme and The Doctor mistaking the approaching music as non-diagetic makes much more sense within the context of the story. Furthermore, The Doctor winking at the camera at the end is just like the scene where Susan Twist winked at the audience at the end of the holiday special. If the show runners are expecting us to take Susan's wink to the audience and knowledge of the TARDIS seriously, then that means we must also take the wink to the camera done by The Doctor equally as seriously! Especially given that it is even presented to the audience in the same way as the Susan Twist reveal. Additionally, if Susan Twist is the embodiment of stories, it could also explain the reoccurring illusion of snowfall that is surrounding Ruby during the first 2 episodes. It provides the mystery and ambiance that will contextualize Ruby's backstory, after all everything in life has a story whether we know it or not. Perhaps Susan Twist is drawn to them due to Ruby's untold story like how Maestro fed on the potential of unplayed songs.
So how does The One Who Waits tie in to any of this? To be honest, I'm not quite sure myself. We know that Maestro used he/him pronouns when referencing The One Who Waits, so we can pretty safely assume that Susan Twist won't be revealed as The One Who Waits as some sort of twist villain, despite there being a "twist at the end" and the name "The One Who Waits" implying that he is perhaps waiting for the end (or beginning) of something to come to pass. Hence why I think Susan Twist will either lead to his defeat in some way or perhaps reveal some sort of twist to The Doctor only after the conflict is over. Either way, the active involvement in story telling as sold me on the role of Susan Twist as a Pantheon member, but there is very little we can draw from that could indicate what kind of properties The One Who Waits could represent, or if he is even a member of the Pantheon at all. Although Maestro seemed to threaten The Doctor by claiming he will come for him, there is no indication that he and Maestro are allies at all, it could very possibly just be a warning of impending doom to instill fear in The Doctor out of pettiness for their banishment. Especially considering that The Toy Maker feared him when his existence was discovered. It is perhaps possible that the Pantheon members did not all know of each other's existences until manifesting in our universe around the same time, but it's also possible that they've known about each other from the start. Regardless, if I were to blindly speculate about what the meaning of his name could relate to, my only guess is that it is in some way representative of the passage of time or perhaps the lack thereof. Waiting only makes sense in reference to time spent, so either he will act as an antithesis to The Doctor, perhaps even threatening the time vortex itself, ushering in the beginning or the end of some new reality, or possibly existing as a representative of eternal stagnation. Honestly, with how little info we have, anything is possible.
(Also random passing thought, is it possible that Susan Twist's name is literal and that the twist of Ruby's story is that she is related in some way to Susan Foreman?)
(Sorry about the long post, I have ADHD and I couldn't stop hyperfixating on writing this down and got a bit carried away lol)
TLDR:
-The song at the end of Devil's Chord is addressed to the audience directly as a hint foreshadowing a future encounter with Susan Twist possibly during the climax when The Doctor must face The One Who Waits.
-The appearance of Susan Twist in the background of each episode throughout time and space and her seemingly timeless nature is seemingly identical to the way members of Pantheon (Toy Maker, Maestro, etc.) also seem to be unaffected by time when interacting with The Doctor.
-Susan Twist has demonstrated that she can break the fourth wall and her influence on reality seems to also be influencing the world around her, allowing The Doctor to break the fourth wall multiple times this episode, much like how he made a second TARDIS after defeating the Toy Maker or like how he played the crosswalk like a piano after defeating Maestro.
-Given the naming scheme of the Pantheon members, and Susan's ability to break the fourth wall and constant cameo appearances, she is probably the Pantheon member representing the god of stories.
-It is possible that the illusions of snow and visions of Ruby's past are a result of Susan Twist, who might seek out untold stories in the same way Maestro sought out unplayed songs. Susan will likely be the one who will reveal the hidden truth behind Ruby's origin story that the show has been building up to.
-Susan Twist, acting as the "Twist at the end" of their story, will likely be what ends up turning the tides of conflict in The Doctor's favor against The One Who Waits.

2024.05.13 20:43 Reedstar21 The most prophetic and true thing to come from this whole beef is

“They make excuses for you cause they hate to see me lit” and I’m also starting to find that family matters is the most catchy song. “ I was really trying to keep it pg” is catchier than all of not like us other than mustards work, but he wasn’t in the diss. But that line and the flow/verse where Drake says “Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now, where’s your aunt Collette, cause I wanna talk to the man of the house” is the catchiest stuff of the whole beef imo

2024.05.13 20:17 Anxious_Permission71 Daylight and many other songs are about Matty

NOTE: I originally posted this over in TrueSwifties, but got attacked. So someone suggested I post it here. I'm not trying to hurt the feelings of swifties who were so attached to her and Joe's relationship. I am literally just listening to Taylor's lyrics and making my own connections. I got called delusional and many other things over there. Unreal. Anyway, there was one comment that changed my mind about the term "golden" from what I explain below. I think Taylor uses "golden" to describe her ultimate love, the one she'll spend the rest of her life with, the one that she has never been able to find (as described in The Prophecy). However, I do still think that between 2014 and 2023, she thought of Matty as her golden love in her mind (even while with Joe) and then eventually in reality last year before it all went "down bad". Please challenge my opinions, but don't call me names <3
Original post below ______________________________________
Okay, I know most of you are probably already angry at me for this claim in the title, but hear me out.
In the TTPD title track, which by now everyone pretty much agrees is about Matty, she calls him a tattooed Golden Retriever. Until this album, most swifties thought the word "golden" referred to Joe (for his blond hair or whatever). So this got me digging. Where did she get golden from and why is Matty the golden one?
In Guilty as Sin?, Taylor references "The Downtown Lights" by The Blue Nile. For those of you who have been following along, we know this band, and particularly this song, are directly connected to Matty. He's stated that they are one of his all time favorite bands, and this song was sampled by The 1975. Given the opening lyrics for Guilty as Sin?, it's pretty clear this song means something to Taylor and Matty's relationship too. Particularly that it sent her back into the hedge maze and falling for Matty again, if only in her mind (in the context of this song).
In the outro to The Downtown Lights, it describes them as "golden":
"The neon's and the cigarettes Rented rooms or rented cars The crowded streets, the empty bars Chimney tops and trumpets The golden lights, the loving prayers The colored shoes, the empty trains I'm tired of crying on the stairs The downtown lights"
Once I made this connection, it blew my mind what I found out next. Search Taylor's discography for the word "golden" and you find "Dancing with our hands tied" from reputation. Check out the opening lyrics:
"I, I loved you in secret First sight, yeah, we love without reason Oh, twenty-five years old Oh, how were you to know, and My, my love had been frozen Deep blue, but you painted me golden Oh, and you held me close Oh, how was I to know that"
That song is 100% about Matty. She loved him secretly, twenty five years old, and the most important line: "Deep blue, but you painted me golden". Paint, being temporary.
This confirmed without a doubt that when Taylor mentions the word "golden" (since reputation at least), she's talking about Matty.
So now Daylight, which fans have pretty much agreed was written about Joe. It's on Lover, which is mostly about Joe (or we thought), it seemingly talks about what seemed like a current love, which was Joe, and generally fits the theme of Joe at the time. But:
"And I can still see it all (In my mind) All of you, all of me (Intertwined) I once believed love would be (Black and white) But it's golden (Golden) And I can still see it all (In my head) Back and forth from New York (Sneaking in your bed) I once believed love would be (Burning red) But it's golden Like daylight, like daylight Like daylight, daylight"
The truth in the song is in the echo lyrics (in parentheses). Here she describes love turning from black and white to golden and how it's in her mind, and she's"sneaking" in his bed.
Y'all.
And to tie it up with a pretty bow, TTPD goes back to the black and white (gray) theme because the Golden Retriever is gone.

2024.05.13 19:45 accountforAITA A Detailed Analysis of Drake’s Strategy Throughout the Beef

WARNING: This is long as shit. Scroll down if you want to see a TLDR.
Look I’m not going to front and say that I don’t prefer Kendrick to Drake. He’s made two of my top three favorite projects ever even if Drake does have a decent share of projects in that list as well (In order being NWTS, IYRTITL, Views with that last one being a fair bit lower than the others). However I don’t think I’m so unreasonably biased for or against one party that my input is invalid. I’ve always gave Drake his flowers for the disses he released throughout the beef and you can check my post/comment history if you want to verify that. I’ve always been honest with how I felt regarding the big 3 and have had my fair share of criticisms regarding Kendrick. I’m going to break this into three sections. What he did right, what he did wrong, and what he should have done in certain scenarios. With that being said, let’s start with the good.
WHAT DRAKE DID WELL
  1. Controlling the Narrative Around Kendrick’s Silence - From the release of Push Ups until Euphoria, Drake was doing great manipulating public perception. ‘Dropping’ Push Ups and then hitting a back to back with Taylor Made was a great move. It pissed Kendrick off, showed how low Drake was willing to go, and made people scrutinize Kendrick for not responding. Pair that with his constant trolling on IG and Drake had people looking at Kendrick worse for not dropping within a week than they did at Drake for not dropping within three. Combine that with having his team push the AI Kendrick song as real for days alongside his other antics and he was up in most people’s eyes for over two weeks.
  2. Great Rapping - I’ve always been on Drake for his inconsistency when it come to his rapping quality on his recent albums. Way I’ve seen it he’s an A student who consistently turns in C+ songs because he knows he can get away with it. But every single project he’ll come out with at least one song that reminds me that when Drake is on he’s a top tier MC. With diss tracks, Drake never has that dip in quality. Look at his catalogue. Back to Back, Duppy Freestyle, Family Matters. Except for Charged Up (and a track from this beef I’ll be getting to in a later section) Drake hasn’t released a bad diss track that I can remember. He did a lot of stuff that I really loved here. He absolutely beat Kendrick when it came to the MJ/Prince flips. He consistently had double and triple entendres throughout his best songs and generally didn’t feel overwhelmed or outmatched from a solely lyrical perspective against another all timer. While I expected him to cook, Drake surprised a lot of people with how good he was here.
  3. Making the 20v1 Narrative - Drake was smart when it came to how he played this (At least initially but we’ll get back to that). He fed into the Thanos narrative really well on Push Ups and demonstrated exactly why the vast majority of the rappers dissing him waited until someone like Kendrick was leading the charge to say anything about Drake. It really felt like he was taking on the industry by himself and that gosh darn it he was holding his own at worst and winning in the eyes of a lot of people. He made sure to address everyone who came for him on Push Ups and while he didn’t destroy anyone’s career or anything, they were all solid shots and he definitively put himself in the lead.
  4. Moments - Drake had a lot of iconic moments throughout the beef. Whether it was telling Metro to shut his hoe ass up and play some drums or crushing the GKMC van or even the first moments when AI Pac and Snoop hopped on Taylor Made, there’s a lot of stuff that got people talking on Drake’s end. A lot of these moments are going to be talked about for years to come and even if not on a wider scale, members of his fanbase will appreciate them for decades to come. Creating moments is one of the most important strategies when having a battle in this day and age. Virality is oftentimes the judgment by which outsiders will judge the beef by when the credits roll.
  5. Underhandedness - While it might not seem like a positive, rap beef is rap beef. Lying, low blows and smear campaigns aren’t just accepted but encouraged. You and your opponent are essentially doing your best to try and ruin the other person’s image as much as possible and Drake showed that if nothing else he had the stomach to do whatever it takes to piss of Kendrick and play to the crowd. AI Tupac, baiting Kendrick by mentioning Whitney, making fun of Kendrick for being “abused” etc. While the success of these tactics varied MASSIVELY, I appreciated the fact that Drake showed that for him all restraints were off from the get go.
  6. Keeping a few consistent Narratives - Now Drake picked up and put down a lot of angles throughout this beef but he stuck to his guns throughout the latter half on two things, Whitney was cheating on Kendrick and that Kendrick was an abuser. And while he never really got those narratives to stick as much as the ones levied against him, they’re still out there in the public consciousness and he kept the story consistent from Family Matters to the Heart Part 6. If nothing else he kept the allegations in people’s mind and caused people to question Kendrick’s character more.
WHERE DRAKE MESSED UP
  1. Overplaying the 20v1 Narrative - Look it was pretty obvious based on the music video and the teaser at the end of Push Ups that Family Matters was at the very least conceptualized before the release of Push Ups. While there were a few modifications like the whole “Nigga I said it I know that you’re mad”, this track would have been thought up while We Still Don’t Trust You was fresh in Drakes mind. As a result he played into the 20v1 narrative heavily. However by the time of Family Matters actually releasing, the only person who responded to Push Ups other than Kendrick was Rick Ross. Euphoria and 6:16 in LA had just dropped and it was pretty clear now that Kendrick was the main threat and who Drake needed to be worried about. Think about how many people were calling Drake Thanos and talking about him taking on the industry after Push Ups released vs in the lead up to Family Matters. He did not need to waste the best beat on Family Matters dissing A$AP fucking Rocky.
  2. Underestimating Kendrick - Look let’s be honest for a second. Family Matters was the red button. It had a music video, Got teased on Push Ups, Drake called the beef twice in the second verse plus he announced his leave, and the Heart Part 6 mostly stuck to the same digs at Kendrick. If Drake still had a red button, the Heart Part 6 never gets dropped and we’re all better for it. The issue is that when Drake tried to 8 Mile himself by predicting Kendrick taking the pedo angle on Taylor Made, Drake didn’t actually have a decent response set up as we saw, he was just hoping the nigga would scrap the idea and use something else since he thought mentioning it first would take the sting out of it. When Kendrick predicted Drake saying stuff about his family on Euphoria, it’s because he had something prepared if he did. Drake figured that Kendrick was trying to do the same thing as him and get ahead of the familial problems angle without having a decent response if it went there which is why he still banked on Family Matters being enough. He had no real plan for what to do if Family Matters didn’t kill Kendrick and he certainly didn’t have one for what to do if Kendrick dropped 20 minutes later and overshadowed his release.
  3. Making his lies too obvious - Look, this is a rap battle not a court room. The vast majority of claims made on either side are made by someone who has all the motivation in the world to lie about their opponent and isn’t required to give any evidence. Unverified claims are the backbone of most diss tracks. And I’m going to assume a decent amount of those are lies. However the problem Drake had throughout this beef, especially on his last two tracks is that he didn’t just make claims that are unverified but impossible to disprove, he made a bunch of claims that anybody with google or common sense can prove are straight up lies. Drake calling Kendrick an abuser can’t ever be truly disproven, nor can Kendrick saying Drake is a diaper sniper. But Kendrick not giving back to Compton is an easily searchable lie. So is Baby Keem writing Kendrick’s best stuff considering he wasn’t an adult for four of his five studio albums. So is Kendrick not having gang ties. So is Kendrick being molested on Mother I Sober. And as of a couple days ago so is Drake planting the evidence from the cover art of Meet the Grahams and of the secret daughter. A lot of what Kendrick has said is similarly unverified and unreliable but almost none of it is definitively without a shadow of a doubt proven to be false. Now that doesn’t make it true in the slightest but it does make Drake look goofy when he’s talking about all his stuff being facts when he gets caught definitively lying so often. If you’re going to lie on someone, make sure it can’t be debunked.
  4. Failing to Consider Public Perception - Drake has always been a very controversial figure in Hip Hop. Whether it be in the early days where people were after him for being too lightskin or too soft or the present where he’s being lambasted for a variety of reasons (some more/less valid than others), he’s never been universally liked at least as a person. Drake is no stranger to controversy and has moved pretty suspiciously both behind the scenes and to our faces. It’s safe to say that while way more people love than hate Drake, he’s polarizing in a way Kendrick isn’t. Prior to Like That the worst thing anyone really said about Kendrick was that they weren’t fans of his music. So when he comes out and says stuff about Drake, it seems more real because Kendrick has no real marks on his credibility the way Drake does. Furthermore when Kendrick alleges that Drake has a secret daughter or likes kids, there’s a lot of heavily publicized behavior of Drake’s that doesn’t confirm but does lend credence to the allegations in a way Kendrick’s doesn’t. Now obviously Drake has a much more public personal life than Kendrick and for all we know the latter actually is a monster behind closed doors while Drake just got caught in a series of unfortunate events. But when one party is already controversial and has a history of consistently weird behavior with underage girls, has a well documented record of promiscuity, and already got one kid exposed in a rap beef and the other has a rather spotless public image as well as nothing supporting the DV case but an allegation from 10+ years ago that got no attention from any major media outlets and that had a lot of pretty obvious holes, the public is a lot more likely to believe one crime happened over the other.
  5. The Heart Part 6 - It seems to age worse literally every day it’s out at this point. It’s probably the first or second most poorly received track released since the start of this conflict and my personal least favorite. The big reveal of him secretly manipulating Kendrick sounded like bullshit when it first dropped. If he had the proof, he could have just made it the cover art instead of the Dave Free comment (if it was audio he could have sampled it). He could have won right there. He could have posted it on his story instead of just repeating ‘I don’t have a daughter’ in the face of Meet the Grahams. Anything instead of let two extremely well received diss tracks drop on his head and let a record breaking song come out saying he doesn’t go easy on the young ones. Even if he were telling the truth he’d look like a total goober not a war general. But with everything that came to light with that EbonyPrince2k24 account it’s now a fact Drake lied about planting the evidence and even Akademiks corroborated that. He also came with zero new evidence of his claims on Family Matters which on its own wouldn’t matter since, again, it’s a rap battle. But it rings pretty hollow when he’s seen as less reliable as Kendrick already by the public and he himself is asking for proof from Kendrick and claiming that “All [his] shit is facts”. Probably one of the worst things he did here was also how he defended himself from the allegations of being a baby bandit. A diaper sniper. Catching a bad case of “Teenage Fever”. Being P. Drizzy if you will. I mean aside from all the weird stuff about Kendrick hating child molesters because he was molested as a child (which would have been a bad angle even if it wasn’t easily disprovable), saying that you’re too rich and famous to be a creep is asinine. Weinstein, Epstein, R. Kelly, P. Diddy, Mick Jagger, MJ, Cosby etc. All got away with their depravity for decades before there ever came any mass movement to depose them with most of these guys having careers well after the first allegations were levied with their downfall only coming when their accusers numbered in the low dozens and they were mostly geriatric despite these crimes going back in some case to their twenties. In fact the majority of weirdos you hear about are the higher ups in politics/entertainment etc. It’s such a weird thing to say in your own defense.
  6. Gassing Out - It’s very clear what the gameplan was based on Drake’s actions looking back. Put Kendrick in a position where he needed to respond (hopefully with his supposed nuke) then clap back with Family Matters to secure a definitive win in the public eye before riding off into the sunset and taking a much needed vacation. He probably had that break planned before he even dropped his first track. That’s is not what happened. Drake dropped as many tracks in the span of the past four weeks as Kendrick dropped in the span of four days with the latter seemingly upbeat and raring to go on his last track whereas Drake seemed low energy and unceremoniously ended things on the Heart Part 6. Compare his attitude on the Heart Part 6 vs on Taylor Made Freestyle and the difference is very clear. Drake wanted a short and simple battle where he baited a beatable response and then slammed it with Family Matters ala Story of Adidon. Instead he was put in a position where not even 20 minutes after he’d dropped he was already back on the defensive and then a day later got hit with a back to back a lot nastier than even the actual Charged Up/Back to Back combo with the promise of more on the way if Drake didn’t back out. Drake wanted out since Family Matters but if he left the game for a while without responding to Kendrick’s two tracks he’d look like he totally pussed out even if he announced his leave before Meet the Grahams/Not Like Us were released. There was never supposed be a Heart Part 6 and it shows a little too obviously in his voice and lyrics on the track which to an outside observer doesn’t seem strong.
WHAT DRAKE SHOULD HAVE DONE: He should have lied about stuff that was harder to dispute instead of things that could be disproven by any bum with an internet connection and access to Genius. He should have also tailored Family Matters to solely focus on Kendrick with at most a few Ross bars and no one else being mentioned. He could also have put out another bait track heavily mentioning the Duckworth household but only hinting at what he knows hoping to draw out something like Meet the Grahams before releasing Family Matters. He also should have never dropped the Heart Part 6. Legitimately musical silence was the best option if it ever got to that point. Just make a PR statement denying the allegations, leave the beef behind, and go on about your life. This was not totally unwinnable but Drake really messed up tactically towards the end of the beef.
TLDR: Drake did a good job of manipulating the crowd and creating a strong narrative for himself during the weeks from Push Ups to Euphoria, lost momentum for a few days with the release of Kendrick’s first set of tracks, regained it with Family Matters and then shit the bed tactically from then on. This wasn’t an unwinnable fight, he just made bad some very poor decisions towards the end.

The Restorative Power of Positive Music: A Rejuvenating Escape
In the midst of life's relentless demands and the constant whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, positive music offers a sanctuary – a restorative retreat where we can find solace, recharge our spirits, and awaken our minds to new perspectives. Like a soothing balm for the soul, the melodies and lyrics of uplifting songs have the power to transport us away from the stresses of daily life, granting us a much-needed respite and infusing us with renewed energy and inspiration.

The Therapeutic Embrace of Positive Vibrations

Positive music is an auditory embrace that envelops us in a cocoon of reassuring vibrations. Its upbeat rhythms and harmonious melodies profoundly impact our psyche, triggering the release of endorphins and other feel-good neurotransmitters that elevate our mood and alleviate stress. As these positive vibrations wash over us, we can't help but feel a sense of lightness, as if the weight of our worries has been momentarily lifted from our shoulders.

A Catalyst for Mental Rejuvenation

Beyond its emotional benefits, positive music can also serve as a powerful catalyst for mental rejuvenation. By immersing ourselves in the infectious energy of upbeat melodies and inspiring lyrics, we activate different regions of our brain, stimulating creativity, focus, and cognitive function. It's as if the music awakens dormant neural pathways, allowing us to approach challenges with renewed vigor and fresh perspectives.

Cultivating a Positive Mindset

One of the most profound effects of positive music is its ability to shape our mindset. The lyrics and themes of uplifting songs can serve as affirmations, gently nudging us toward a more optimistic outlook on life. As we internalize the messages of resilience, hope, and positivity, we gradually rewire our thought patterns, cultivating a more resilient and growth-oriented mindset that empowers us to overcome obstacles and embrace new opportunities.

Creating a Restorative Ritual

To fully harness the rejuvenating power of positive music, it's essential to create a dedicated ritual – a sacred space where you can immerse yourself in the healing melodies without distraction. Whether it's setting aside time each morning to listen to your favorite uplifting playlist or unwinding after a long day with a soothing collection of positive instrumentals, this ritual will become a cherished oasis of tranquility and renewal.
Consider incorporating various sensory elements to enhance the experience, such as burning a scented candle, sipping a warm beverage, or surrounding yourself with calming natural elements like plants or crystals. By engaging multiple senses, you amplify the restorative effects of positive music, creating a holistic experience that nourishes your mind, body, and spirit.

Embracing the Journey of Self-Discovery

Ultimately, the true power of positive music lies in its ability to inspire self-discovery and personal growth. As you immerse yourself in the uplifting melodies and lyrics, you may uncover hidden reserves of strength, resilience, and purpose that had been lying dormant within you. Each song becomes a stepping stone on a journey of self-exploration, inviting you to shed limiting beliefs, embrace your authentic self, and embark on a path of continuous growth and transformation.
In a world that often bombards us with negativity and stress, positive music serves as a beacon of hope, a sanctuary where we can replenish our spirits and rediscover our inner radiance. By incorporating this uplifting practice into our lives, we not only find momentary relief but also cultivate a deep sense of joy, resilience, and purpose that transcends the fleeting challenges of daily life.
There is a wide variety of music to choose from. What do you enjoy? What melodies make you feel good and energized? Listening to music is your time to escape from it all. It's all about what you enjoy listening to, so keep it positive.

2024.05.13 19:35 DifferenceDue6968 Name of show? 12-20 year old show with cowboy theme.

Looking for an old cartoon where the protagonist is maybe a cowboy and the theme song sounds a lot like 'Welcome Home' by Coheed and Cambria (the beginning at least)

2024.05.13 17:55 Girdon_Freeman Fixing the Final Episode of Two and a Half Men

I finished watching this video talking about the end of Two and a Half Men, and despite the show not deserving probably too much better, I hate that it went out with a snarl instead of a whimper.
My rework assumes three things:
.
Assuming those three things, the 1st part roughly follows the not-shit part of the actual finale:
.
Part 2/Act 2 starts with Alan and Walden discussing their newfound suspicions of Rose
.
God, I spent too much time on this, but hopefully it's at least slightly better than what we got
