New US and Canadian CCS chargers in April 2024

2024.05.10 15:33 boutell New US and Canadian CCS chargers in April 2024

Here are all (*) of the new US and Canadian CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2024, according to the Department of Energy. You can get the data yourself here.
These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
  1. Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
  2. Leaf owners like me, owners of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive such a car, see my matching post in leaf.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 330 CCS charging stations with a total of 682 chargepoints added or refreshed in April 2024, which is a major uptick in both stations and chargepoints. There were only 166 new CCS charging stations in April 2023, with only 267 chargepoints. Things are trending dramatically upwards.
Some part of this is due to Tesla Magic Dock stations. Previously Tesla didn't report these to the AFDC as CCS, but now they do. And that makes sense because all CCS drivers can use them.
NOTE: most Tesla Superchargers do NOT have magic dock as of this writing (all those shown in this report should have it). I recommend using PlugShare to locate compatible stations for your vehicle.
(*) "What about other Tesla Superchargers? Can't everybody charge with NACS now?"
It's coming for many makes and models, and for newer Ford models as well as a few other manufacturers charging at v3 and v4 Superchargers is already an option with a free adapter from the automakers. GM should release their adapter in the coming weeks. But since they are not open to all CCS vehicles, this report is not the place for them. Tesla's app provides the best guide to their locations, including locations that work with non-Tesla vehicles.
Other Notes
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first.
For serious trip planning, I recommend PlugShare. But by all means check out these reported new locations and submit reviews on PlugShare, which makes things better for everyone.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself. PlugShare has a similar feature.

2024.05.06 04:36 FlamingJelly1 Did I keep my villain's story original, if so what can I do to change it? (Story in descriptions)

The story name is called Fallen family. (A spin-off of my original story called The Personalitys)
Since the beginning of time there was this realm that is called The Out-Normal Realm.
These Out-Normals' jobs are to keep the multiverse, everything and anything balanced and not to literally break the law of nature.
The Out-Normal Realm, the gate, heart and balance of the whole Multiverse.
For the many mortals that heard the tales of this realm and these so like God's, they worship them and praise them and think only good things from them.
Even though the meaning of Out-Normals lives are partially true. There is a dark secret about these Out-Normals that no mortal understands.
That was two different races of Out-Normals that are despise each other.
There are the Guardians and the Bystanders. The Guardians are much more wealthy and powerful in their realm than the Bystanders. The Guardians look like normal people and usually wear more fancy, modern and cleaner clothes than the Bystanders who wear more simple clothing. The Bystanders stand out the most with their white hair and light grey skin. They both races have red eyes known as Red Velvet eyes.
The Red Velvet eyes symbolizes two things. One that they are currently present inside there own home realm and two that since they are in there home, they are forced to follow the only big rule in the Out-Normal Realm. The only way a Out-Normal can die is from another Out-Normal. This is not a rule by the government of the realm but simply the law of nature itself. This creates a lot of drama for the two races since The Guardians are known for killing off the Bystanders because they don't much control over protecting the multiverse.
Throughout the story we see this a lot, making many different depressing and tragic scenes.
Here is where we meet our future villain in the whole Fallen Family story, Atticus Maywood.
Atticus Maywood was just your another ordinary Bystander Out-Normal who had two big goals in life. To understand and explore the power of magic/combat that Out-Normals learn and use (teaching it to other Bystanders students in school.) And to make world peace for both races to share power and happiness.
Atticus loved his family the most and never wanted them get caught in between selfish Guardians and get hurt yet alone get slaughtered. This was the main reason he took on this very difficult goal to unite both races as one. For that and for his own race.
But one unfortunate day, the Mayood family (Mother, Father and sister) were killed of the usual hatred. With much determination, Atticus learns how to bend back a timeless realm by not going back in time all together but in one spot itself, since it would not effect the timeless realm.
But with countless of deaths to the same family members and friends from betrayals from even Bystanders themselves.
Atticus snaps.
He starts to understand the only way he could have the freedom and piece he truly wanted to dream of was to start all over, if that meant creating a new universe where there is no pain, no suffering, no consequences or any negative thoughts. This meant killing every last Out-Normal by the magic skills that he learned through his whole life. He learned things that other Out-Normals wouldn't wrap their minds around to do.
The day of the wipe out, only two Out-Normals escaped alive. Atticus Maywood's new founding goal was to kill the last two Out-Normals so that he is able to have full control of the realm he once called home.

2024.05.06 00:32 Marketlad Need some guidance in ed-tech

I’m new to sales, it’ll be 1 year this September.
And I work for an ed-tech company as an AE. My NYC regions are fantastic for the most part. Those are our closest relationships and accounts, and it’s easy to talk to who I need to talk to most days.
However, my upstate NY schools are my bane and I want to change that.
I usually call up individual schools first in my campaigns. Lately I’ve been trying to discuss stem with the principals, or stem/tech teachers but can’t get by the gatekeeper most of the time. I’m asked to email. Which is fine, but most of my emails get spam filtered or rejected outright when sending via outlook. Voicemails go nowhere most of the time. And on the occasion that I get a helpful gatekeeper that puts me through, I’m told to contact the districts.
So, onto the districts. I get no one. Either voicemails or dead ends to people who have no budget, or aren’t looking at stem, or technology, which is fine. If they don’t need it, they don’t need it. But I want to at least let them know what we do, as we do have some good customers up there that we have done millions of dollars in work with. Or they refer me to the BOCES to set up calls with them which usually leads to nothing but voicemails and wild goose chases.
All that said, anyone in ed-tech have and advice for getting past gatekeepers at the schools, or getting past budget objections when I’m not even trying to sell half the time, just trying to do future planning. I want to be more a consultant honestly, I know that these types of purchases can sometimes take a year or two of planning.

Help me decide my school list PLEASE
Hello everyone,
I am having a hard time narrowing down my school list since I think these all should fit pretty nicely. All of them are private except a few public ones which are really out of state friendly.
I am a URM from NJ.
3.98 GPA, 508 mcat, and all my EC are excellent. I also intend on having great writing. Please let me know your suggestions on which schools I should remove.

2024.03.30 01:53 Rude-Discipline-1359 Apartment Hunting

Hi all!
I’m about to graduate college at OU, and have already accepted a job in the Hart building (on Film Row near Devon). After taxes I’ll be making 3k a month. I have no debts, and will be going to law school late 2025.
I’m currently searching for an apartment in, or very close, to Midtown/Downtown. I’ve toured The Maywood, The Metropolitan, Averdia Arts District, and The Aberdeen (holy shit was that shady).
They’re all within my budgets, but after their utilities + amenities fees it’s a little eyebrow raising. Someone recommended the Park Harvey to me, and their studios are a reasonable price (800-1000), but they have a lot of qualifications to even be accepted as a resident.
I guess I have two questions…would they Park Harvey be a good choice? And do you all have any recommendations for apartments under 1300k that’s not too far from Film Row???
Thanks so much for any and all help!

2024.03.16 21:43 balenciagagucciprada A Sort of Deep Dive into Bergen County Schools State Assessment Reports

Disclaimer: This is a loaded post. Thanks for reading nonetheless.
I've been looking at Bergen County schools state assessment reports for sometime and it wasn't until recently that I decided to do a comparison of the results across two different school years and I noticed that some of the schools in certain towns either remained about the same or underwent a pretty decent % change when it comes to its students performing at proficiency (L3) and beyond (L4,L5).
I did the comparison for 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 grade 8 Math testing. Why did I choose grade 8 math? I felt like it might be the year and subject that might be the hardest, but I'm no teacher. I'm just a parent with two kids that will start school soon. Maybe I should check the other grades, like 3rd grade math testing scores for this analysis?
For more details on what data and stats I'm referring to, please look at: https://www.nj.gov/education/assessment/results/reports/
For additional reference, the L proficiency has been defined as follows: Levels 1 and 2 indicate below-grade-level proficiency. Levels 3 and 4 indicate students performed at grade-level or above. Source for this is https://njedreport.com/scoop-first-peek-at-new-jersey-state-test-scores/#:~:text=Levels%201%20and%202%20indicate,)%2C%20math%2C%20and%20science%2C%20math%2C%20and%20science).

The comparison is listed below and my questions are:

Thanks for reading. Again, I'm just a parent that will soon have kids in public schools and wanted to understand how this works. I didn't go to any of these schools. I went to a school that was considered great at that time, but now it has become mediocre.

2024.03.15 23:36 Comprehensive_Cut_89 Is there anyway my recruiter can access my GED Diploma/Transcript through NY?

So, I have been working my ass off since June 2023 to shed my body fat and meet enlistment standards to join. The only problem has been my GED Transcript/Diploma. I've done the following things to try and get it.
Called my high school, and they told me that I have to call the program center. (Alternative school called BOCES) But when I go to their website to see if I can go thay route, it redirects me to the NYS Department of Education. They have a form to fill out, then a money order to send to them and wait a 8-10wk turnaround period to receive either. Now, my college transcripts state that my highest level of education completion IS my GED. Can I use this as a way to circumvent the wait and/or can my recruiter himself get access to it. I go in to meet him for a weight check soon and I want to ask the best questions regarding this ONE hindrance.

2024.03.11 05:44 phoenixdown42 DIY post-bacc or unfinished second degree as a non-trad applicant who has already completed the prereqs and needs academic LORs?

Sorry in advance for the length.
Goal Cycle: 2025~2026
Demographics: F/27 (28 by the time I start applying next year), East Asian, Illinois resident
Major: Biology BS (was originally interested in biomedical research), graduated 2019
Stats: cGPA 3.55, sGPA 3.28
Upward trend Freshman~Junior year with a drop in my senior year because I got a BC in Anatomy/Physiology in my very last semester, the only science course I took that second semester. My sGPA for senior year was 2.8…
BCPM classes: biology (5/10 credits are AP), chemistry, organic chemistry + lab, physics, life science statistics, microbiology + lab, immunology, biochemistry, infectious disease and bioterrorism, fundamentals of human physiology. No calc because I transferred 9 AP credits. I also have credits titled “Independent study” and coded as a Genetics course from when I worked as a lab assistant in the medical genetics department.
Other kind of related classes I’ve also taken are psychology, abnormal psychology, extinction of species, history of science and medicine (bodies, diseases, and healers), and public health ethics.
Taking the MCAT this September.
I plan on applying to every school in the Chicagoland area, Loyola in Maywood, and Rosalind Franklin. I don’t care about the school’s prestige or if the degree is MD or DO, I just know I want to be a pathologist or infectious disease physician one day. I’m open to other non-surgical specialties, but these are my top two choices at this time. I will also apply to some out-of-state schools to cast a wider net, I just don’t know where yet.
I have no potential academic LORs, so that is my primary reason for doing a DIY post-bacc this fall and maybe even next spring if necessary. However, I am limited financially so I don’t want to take more than what is enough. I understand that my GPA is also lacking, especially my sGPA. The lowest grade I got was a BC in my second semester of O Chem, O Chem lab, and Anatomy/Physiology. I do have A’s and AB’s in most of my BCPM courses, but I also have a lot of B's.
1) Should I retake an Anatomy/Physiology course because of my BC?
2) What classes should I take and how many?
3) Do I still need a non-science class even though I can get LORs from the physician I scribe for and my supervisor from the ESL academy I taught at? I've been out of school for 5 years now.
My state university does not have a formal post-bacc program, nor does it have biological/biomedical classes for me to take as a non-degree student, so I will have to look into private universities.
4) Or should I try doing a second degree so that I can get financial aid, not get last pick, and take whatever classes I want/need? I read that it’s not uncommon to do a second degree and just drop out when I get what I need.
I’m afraid AdComs will just laugh me out the door when they see my transcript. But I would regret not at least trying to pursue medicine before I reconsider my career goals.

2024.03.06 23:50 schememcschemin Neighborood Recommendations: Moving for Grad School?

Hi there! My partner (26) and I (27) are moving to Chicago from the West Coast for law school and medical school, respectively! I will be attending either University of Illinois or Loyola (in Maywood) and he will be at Northwestern. We are trying to find a neighborhood that will be easy enough for us both to get to campus from. Ideally we would be in a walkable, (somewhat) lively area with a few pubs/restaurants, green space and good public transit access. We are pretty flexible on budget. We're trying to decide between living in Gold Coast/Old Town, Lincoln Park or maybe West Loop? If anyone has any advice we'd really love to hear it!

2024.02.20 17:08 Zestyclose-Note-9673 Trying to Think Through Applications

I work in a rural district in NY. Overall I think I am paid well for that district (about 63k, teaching 8 years). I started in this district at 22 and I am considering leaving the district. I applied to another district once, about three years ago, and was passed over at the final interview simply based on the number of years I had been teaching. Every now and then I check out the teacher application system, and came across an opening for high school science in a very affluent suburban district. I read their contract, they give us more sick days, more personal days, and overall have a 4.5% raise for the next two years should I get in.
Currently, in my district, I am the department head for science, the team coordinator for PLC, the only middle school science teacher, and in charge of helping transition to new standards by attending regular meetings at our local BOCES (they rock, actually). I earn nearly the same as my peers with double my experience and have a curriculum given to me by the district. I do quite well with this curriculum, the kids and I love it.
However, I am trying to determine if shifting to a different district is the right thing to do. Currently, I also do the Master Teacher program, and coach college athletes. I don't have any kids, so it's fairly possible but I am constantly busy. I don't factor master teacher into my yearly income/budget, I am saving it for a house down payment.
I've made a few observations over the last few years: many of our students are struggling to read and write. We've got many 5/6th grade students reviewing vowel sounds this year, for example. Additionally, I usually teach 6 classes of middle school science (life and physical). This year I only have four and was given two AIS sections (which really aren't, it's just kids who are absent all the time and who they could stick in with me). Our enrollment is decreasing, and I could see middle school science being divided up among the other three science teachers for high school. One of them has middle school certification. I've also heard that we can't maintain our staff number in the coming future. In addition, our student behaviors are escalating (as is the case in all districts).
I've also identified the cons of leaving/planning to leave:
  1. I enjoy having student teachers and observers, I do well at teaching them three-dimensional science pedagogy. As a probationary teacher again, I'd wait another four years before having them again.
  2. I would have a new curriculum or be tasked with creating a new curriculum. I don't know what the new district would use if they have a set one.
  3. I'd probably have a slight pay cut for a while, the contract isn't clear on where I'd start so it's most likely a 5-10k cut - temporary for a few years.
  4. My commute doubles (45 minutes)
  5. Becoming untenured
  6. Loss of leadership position
  7. Loss of colleagues
The pros are:
  1. Better administration potentially.
  2. A focus on actually teaching courses and not managing behaviors.
  3. Overall better pay scale with longevity bonuses.
  4. More personal days and sick days (which I don't really use but eh, it's nice).
  5. An actual science room - I currently have basic tables, lab equipment, but my room is not a science room...eye wash is a squirt bottle for example (yes I've brought it up to admin).
  6. Better health care area (the joke in my town is if you have anything more than a cold, drive anywhere but our hospital...it's true).
Most of my cons seem/are temporary. Should I throw in an application for this new district or hold my current position? I am only hesitant because I've really made a name for myself in my current district and many of my students have already said in passing that I'd better stick around until they at least graduate. I suppose that speaks to how I interact with them. I feel guilty applying elsewhere and hinting to my colleagues who've been here for 15+ years that I want to leave. I know the students will be fine. However, their spouses earn WAY more than them. I am the primary income in my relationship as my partner is an adjunct professor. Additionally, I am an only child with a mother in her 70s. I am trying to get her to move up here where I can care for her (we can't afford NYC where she is, and since my dad passed neither can she). His mother is also hard of hearing. I am fully aware that we will have to care for both of them at the same time...
What advice do you have?

2024.02.19 20:46 cuteslugbummer Loyola Chicago vs. USC Keck

Hi everyone! Super lucky and grateful to have acceptances from two schools here but I'm feeling a little stuck in the decision making process. For context, I'm a CA resident and I'd be really interested in either doing an MPH or a research year abroad studying the impacts of climate change on global health. At the moment I'm also leaning towards primary care or pediatrics.
Here are my thoughts about each school:
USC
Pros:
- much closer to home (I'm from norcal), more support from friends and family already in the area
- true pass/fail and the class structure seems really chill from what I can tell
- dean's research scholar year (i really want to do a year of research abroad and it seems like USC would be pretty supportive as long as the primary author is associated with the school in some way)
- great match list and lots of internal opportunities
- big spanish speaking population for me to improve my language skills
- it would be easier for me to match into a CA residency if I do med school here
- if i decide i want to, i can start an MPH between 2 and 3 year rather than having had to apply with my primary app
- tons of access to specialties
Cons:
- obviously its really expensive
- I actually despise driving in LA. It just makes life so much harder :/
- part of me was actually curious about going elsewhere in the country for med school considering i've lived my whole life in CA (I know that this is a really privileged pov and that lots of people are dying to come to CA but idk i've just been curious to leave)
- i have a friend at USC already and lowkey the social scene sounds like my nightmare in some ways but maybe im being dramatic?
LOYOLA
Pros:
- CCGH program (community and global health) which a lot of students are involved in (although a lot of the focus of this program seems more local than international to me)
- Chicago! it would be really fun for me to explore a new place and especially a big city like chicago (although i know technically campus is in maywood)
- medical spanish, mandarin, and arabic offered and student taught
- climate change elective (this is exactly what i want to research but through a global health lens)
- honestly i got a really good community vibe from the school. I didn't know this until interviewing, but apparently half of the DACA medical students across the country are at Loyola and it's not something that they brag about, they just do it because its meaningful for them
- cheaper than USC and also the school seemed really interested in making it financially worth their students time
- great urban primary care education
Cons:
- really cold
- some of the clinical rotations are not on campus and one isn't even in the same state? seems odd
- exam schedule does seem a little bit more intense than USC
- less access to specialties or at least I would have to make connections at other schools to explore more
- i got the sense that if i wanted to do a research year abroad it would be doable but it would take a lot more work on my part to get the school on board and set it all up
- no way for me to add an MPH later on
Is there anything that I'm totally overlooking about either school or something that I'm putting too much weight on and being unreasonable about? Does anyone at either school have anything that they absolutely love or hate about their school? Thanks in advance!

2024.02.03 03:28 Remember-Vera-Lynn Administration never informed me about an abuse allegation regarding a teacher towards my son. Help.

I'm going to be as brief as possible here. I live in NY, my son (6yrs) has brain damage from a birth injury and is non-verbal.
He is currently in an 8:1:1 special needs program through BOCES. His teacher called me this evening to inform me that on January 4th, she was placed on paid Administrative Leave based on an accusation of abuse by improper restraint towards my son.
For context, she was trying to teach him how to drink from an open cup, I do NOT believe she did anything incorrectly, and we trust this AMAZING teacher completely. She did exactly as we do when introducing new foods or drinks. We only send my son to this out-of-district school specifically for her, and were already looking for placement elsewhere for next year when he aged out of her classroom. This is due to a BAD history with my older son with this specific school/administration a couple of years ago.
Today, she was told that she would have to transfer to another school in order to keep her job, and she decided to quit on the spot. Since she was placed on leave, there has not been a certified teacher in the classroom - only the remaining aides.
We were never informed of this incident, allegation, investigation - OR that the teacher was on any kind of leave. She wasn't allowed to contact us by condition of her leave. It's been almost a month!!! I am raging.
There was an abuse allegation towards my child! What if it was actually serious/founded and something more had happened and we had no idea? He cannot tell us. My mind is racing and I want the administration to change so this never happens again. As a parent, where should I start?
