2024.05.14 08:17 Independent-Dig7925 Public City Shinny seems to be only Very high skill levels!?

I'm trying to get some ice time right now as a goalie and never really tried public city ice but was able to get in four games. I'm extremely confused because the first time I went it was pretty much all semi-pro guys and those who retired from playing overseas, some of the guys took it easier on me. The second and third time I went it was a lot of players who are pretty much your USHL guys and they showed zero mercy out there. On the fourth time it was still a mix of high level players, I don't think I even came across a single player who couldn't skate at an elite level, and didn't have a fast shot you could barely react to, while having McDavid hands.
I talked to a few of them and they've been struggling really bad to get goalies out. Many times they're lucky if even one goalie shows up. After the fourth time I realized the caliber is just too high. Guys are rushing the net like we're playing game 7 and hammering hard snap shots pretty close with extreme accuracy and speed. Even screens are happening but not just guys being in front, but they're actually pushing their bodies into me to force me back more. It really feels like I'm in some try out or playoff game, not public shinny. If I recall slap shots are banned and you'll find no shortage of those coming bar high from the hash marks.
Since I've only really played with private groups, is this normal for public city ice? I'm not planning to return simply because I feel I have zero chance to make a save, and even if I can get a piece of the puck I'm going to end up injured with how these guys play. I already got ran down by an attacking player as my defence went back into me at the same time.
I really thought public shinny would be more low key and guys would at least adjust their play a bit, but wow this was a real shocker! I've also been playing for a while and unless I went to some high level coaching weekly for years I doubt I could even compete with these guys.

Has anyone tried these $35 Etnies from Big 5 [39yo]
Just got back into skating at 39yo. So far I've bought back pair of Vans and some Nike SB's. Haven't skated the Nikes yet but I've put a hurtin' on the Vans.....and skate shoes are not cheap! I decided to give these a shot, to give my nicer skate shoes a break. As anyone else put there tried these? Maybe I'll come back in about 3 weeks and give everyone an update.

2024.05.14 02:25 the_blind_referee RVH vs VH? What happened to VH?

I used to do goalie coaching for juniors ten years ago, was asked to coach a summer league this year. Two 6 foot goalies were getting lit up left right and center with the RVH. I asked them why they were doing it and started poking around.
I was curious so I started asking some questions and got some comments/answers I found interesting:
Goalies: In the RVH, the only open net is the top corner but its a low percentage shot, and in the VH you have the same problem My Response: In VH you simply stand up
Goalies: RVH gives coverage down low, VH leaves room under your skate My Response: Theres a larger hole under your up leg and a grater area for the puck to bounce in under your pad, the VH hole can be covered with your stick
Goalies: RVH covers the most net, VH leaves the far side open since your down leg is across the goal line My Response: I noted that a VH should still be square to the shot
Goalies: RVH allows you to push to the center of the ice easier My Response: You will get much more power pushing off your post if you have post leg up
I asked them if I could show them my thoughts on the RVH vs VH and they were open to it. Here were my trials:
  1. I took photos from the pucks perspective from multiple positions on tight angles and had the goalies do reverse VH and RVH, RVH had the entire far corner, tight corner and 5 hole open, VH only had top corner open
    1. I lined up some players to fire pucks from the goal line cross crease and took videos, then slowed the videos down to track their speed moving across the crease. In the VH scenario they moved 25% faster.
    2. We lined up 10 pucks from 3 tight angles in both the VH and RVH. There were ~ 7 goals shooting for open spots in the RVH, and no goals in the VH position, and the top corner quickly cover just by standing up.
I left it at that and now they are both practicing their VH between drills, and they no longer get lit up, and told me they never realized how easy and effective the VH was, let alone how much skate sharpening they saved on.
I know this is just my perspective, but what happened to the VH and is there anything I am missing about the RVH that makes it so popular? I don’t see the RVH benefits, likely because I wasn’t taught that way, but I’m curious about the perspective of goalies that have grown up using the RVH?

2024.05.13 19:13 KingJuuulian Pospisil at the world championships

Man oh Man. Pospisil was unbelievable in the Slovakia vs USA game. He was a thorn in the side of the Americans all game (especially brady tkachuk) and he tallied 3 assists. This kid is looking great in big moments so far. He was also on the ice for the overtime goal and it looks like they trusted him to skate the puck into the zone and set up the winning shot. If he can stop getting suspended he is just what we need to make this team hard to play against.

2024.05.13 15:57 Luke-HW Understanding Shadebinder’s kit

Preface

Shadebinder’s playstyle is very different from every other Warlock subclass. Warlock’s greatest strength in the Crucible is their mobility; Solar has Icarus Dash and Snapskating, Arc has slide melee and Getaway Artist’s on-demand Amplified, Void has Blink, and Strand has a grappling hook. Stasis has ZERO reliable mobility for Warlock; you’re going to be spending most of your time on foot. Shadebinder doesn’t need any mobility options to dominate, because they are the kings of counterplay.

Frostpulse

Casting your rift releases a burst of Stasis that freezes on contact. The pulse has a wide radius, and stretches shockingly high up. It sounds very situational on paper, but this is a situation that you can easily replicate. Harass people at range, and get them to start chasing you. Once they’re on your tail, slide behinda corner and time your Frostpulse for right when they’re about to come around it. I can’t count the number of Titans I’ve caught shotgun in hand. Your rift also maintains your forward momentum, so you can be more aggressive with this as well. If an enemy is camping a corner, slide up with Frostpulse for an instant freeze. If a Titan drops a bubble, time your slide so that you just barely enter the bubble as your rift goes off, freezing everyone inside. Frostpulse is also fantastic for shutting down close-range ego abilities like Ensnaring Slam, grapple punches, shoulder charge and Thundercrash. For these abilities, you can typically gauge when to cast your rift based on the sound. They all have a sound cue right before impact, which is your signal to drop your frostpulse. Watching a Threadrunner freeze mid-punch and slide off the map never gets old.

Iceflare Bolts

Shattering a Frozen enemy spawns Coldsnap tendrils that seek another target. I don’t think this needs an explanation; it can turn one well-timed Freeze into a huge killchain. You’ll feel like a Titan from the number of enemies that you beat to death. Note that you need to actually shatter an enemy to spawn the tendrils, which can be difficult outside of Melee range. Most Primary weapons cannot shatter a Guardian before they thaw, but there are exceptions like Fighting Lion. A high-range Fusion can grab some long-range shatters as you work to close the distance, and grenade launchers are always effective. Snipers and slug shotguns are also effective, but you need a headshot to shatter.

Bleak Watcher

You can turn your grenade into a Stasis turret that shoots nearby enemies. The turret isn’t very strong; its rate of fire is low and it dies in only a few shots. However, each projectile Slows on impact, forcing your opponents to prioritize it. Throw the turret behind them, then light them up when they turn around.
EDIT: Note that your turret is treated as a combatant; your opponents can kill it to proc perks like Kill Clip and Rampage. Don’t spam them unless you’re capable of securing some kills.

Coldsnap Grenades

Shadebinder’s bread and butter. These grenades create Stasis tendrils on impact that freeze, and can chain to several enemies. One grenade can freeze an entire team, with a shatter killing the whole group. However, Coldsnap grenades are finicky. They struggle on rough terrain, and a well-timed Hunter dodge, Icarus Dash and Thruster can dodge it. Against opponents like this, it’s best to aim high. When Coldsnap grenades strike a wall, they bounce off and slowly fall to the ground. Coldsnaps also have two sound cues; when you throw it, and when it detonates. Coldsnaps don’t make any noise when they bounce off a wall. When you ricochet your grenade, enemies will hear you throw it, but won’t hear the impact and assume that you missed. Then when they push, the grenade lands directly on top of them. But from experience, most of my Coldsnap kills come from just chucking one around a corner as someone tries to push up. They’re very effective in close quarters combat, and even if you’re too far away to secure a kill, you can use the disruption to push up safely.

Penumbral Blast

Your melee shoots a Stasis projectile that flies straight and explodes on impact, or after a short distance. Do not make the mistake of limiting this to a panic button. If you use it at close range, you’ll typically die before your enemy is fully frozen. Treat it like a grenade launcher, specifically Mountaintop. It is very consistent for securing kills, and can easily shut down ego pushes. Airborne enemies are very easy to track with this, although their momentum can carry them too far away for an easy shatter. The projectile also explodes at the edge of its range, so you can use this for an airbust.
EDIT: I should’ve mentioned this before, but Shadebinder has ONE mobility tech. Penumbral Blast is coded like Incinerator Snap, and can be used to skate. It’s not as effective due to the absence of Icarus Dash, but you can cross some serious distance if you time it right. Sometimes I “ShadeSkate” into a Penumbral blast when I rush enemies, freezing them as I come in for a melee shatter. It’s significantly more effective with Transversive steps, but there’s two steep downsides to building into ShadeSkating. One, you’re sacrificing Osmiomancy’s double Coldsnaps, increased Coldsnap range, and grenade energy refund on Coldsnap freezes in order to use Transversives. Two, you need to keep Penumbral Blast fully charged to skate. Needing to hold your Penumbral to skate really hurts ShadeSkating’s reliability, because Penumbral is an extremely effective melee that you’ll typically use at every opportunity. The Shadeskate playstyle is all or nothing with little flexibility, you need to fully commit to the skating. Personally, I just skate with my Osmiomancy build to push up at the beginning of a round.

Winter’s Wrath

Arguably the most dangerous Super in Destiny, it’s capable of securing kills from across the map and even through walls. When people hear you cast Winter’s Wrath, they run as fast as they can. That’s actually a problem because you’re awfully slow; a poorly timed Super can leave you isolated. There’s a select number of situations where Winter’s Wrath is decisively effective: * During a flank * While pushing a control point * Against an enemy Super * While defending a control point
These are all situations where the enemy team cannot easily escape. However, an experienced player can still dodge your projectiles by simply playing cover. When a projectile locks on, it will adjust its course to take the shortest path to its target. It doesn’t care if a wall is in the way, that’s your problem. To effectively freeze your opponents, you need to go wide. If you can tell that your opponent is going to rush to a wall on their right, then shoot to their left. The projectile will still lock onto them, but it’ll now travel along a wider arc that can get behind the cover

Boston Bruins vs. Florida Panthers: A Recap of Ice Hockey's Theatre of the Absurd

On a night that could only be described as a puck-filled pandemonium, the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers clashed in a game that was less a display of athletic prowess and more a comedic ballet on ice. The date was May 12, 2024, and fans in attendance were treated to a spectacle that would have made the Bard himself chuckle from the great rink in the sky.

Act I: The Odds of Misfortune

Before the puck even dropped, the bookmakers had spoken, and their prophecy was clear: the Florida Panthers, with odds at a commanding 1.49, were the darlings of the betting world (DraftKings, 2024; FanDuel, 2024). The Boston Bruins, on the other hand, were the underdogs, the scrappy fighters with odds set at a less-than-favorable 2.7 (DraftKings, 2024; FanDuel, 2024). Little did the oddsmakers know, they were setting the stage for an evening of slapstick surprises.

Act II: The Slapstick Spectacle

As the game commenced, it became apparent that the Bruins and Panthers had decided to throw the script out the window. Passes went awry, skates tangled, and the puck seemed to have a mind of its own, bouncing with the unpredictability of a caffeinated squirrel. The players, in their quest for hockey glory, appeared more like actors in a silent film, providing the audience with a series of pratfalls and gags that would make Charlie Chaplin proud.

The Keystone Cops on Skates

The first period was a masterclass in physical comedy. Defensemen tripped over blue lines, forwards mistook the referee's skates for the puck, and goalies—those stoic sentinels of the net—flailed like windmills in a hurricane. It was as if both teams had conspired to redefine the term "power play" to mean "the power to play the fool."

The Jesters of the Jersey

As the game wore on, the players seemed to embrace their roles as jesters in jerseys. One particularly memorable moment involved a Panther attempting a slapshot, only to have his stick shatter upon impact, sending the rubber disk skittering harmlessly to the corner while the splintered shaft helicoptered into the stands. The crowd roared with laughter, and the bewildered player could only offer a sheepish grin.

Act III: The Numbers Narrate Nonsense

In a game where the stats sheet read more like a comedy script, the numbers told a tale of two teams who seemed to forget the objective of hockey. Shots on goal were more miss than hit, and the penalty minutes stacked up as if the players were competing for a record in the most creative ways to earn a trip to the sin bin.

The Statistician's Lament

For the number-crunchers and stat aficionados, this game was a nightmare wrapped in a riddle. Attempting to analyze the performance metrics was akin to deciphering the meaning of a Dadaist poem. Yet, amidst the chaos, there were glimmers of actual hockey being played—brief, fleeting moments where muscle memory overcame the madness, and the puck found its way to the back of the net.

Act IV: The Final Curtain

As the final buzzer sounded, the score was almost an afterthought. The real victory was in the entertainment provided, the laughs shared, and the collective realization that sometimes, sports can be a delightful diversion from the seriousness of life.
The Panthers may have been the victors on paper, but the true winners were those who witnessed this absurd ballet of sticks and skates. It was a game that would be talked about for years to come, not for the skill displayed, but for the sheer joyous lunacy of it all.

Epilogue: The Moral of the Story

In the grand scheme of things, this game between the Bruins and Panthers will be remembered not for its impact on the standings or the record books, but for its contribution to the rich tapestry of hockey hilarity. It was a reminder that even in the competitive cauldron of professional sports, there is room for laughter, for the unexpected, and for the sheer, unadulterated fun of the game.
So let us raise our sticks to the Bruins and Panthers, not for their prowess on the ice, but for their unwitting performance in the theatre of the absurd. May the memories of this game endure, a testament to the unpredictable joy of hockey and the enduring power of a good chuckle.

2024.05.13 00:48 Professional-Law5559 PLEASE help, chance a STRESSED junior trying to maximize her shot (please be honest)

Hello, I am a rising senior and I am really scared about college apps. I am planning to REA to harvard because it's my dream school and I want to shoot my shot. Our school is sort of a feeder school but not particularly for harvard (2 people every other year kinda situation). I know a few people who will also REA to Harvard and they are also really strong or in some aspects I feel have better stats (such as 1560 SAT, or research from biotech company that's like published on biorxiv). I feel really stressed about the competition and everything, so here I am seeking external help from the internet ig lol
Idk if this adds anything but my plans this summer: hospital volunteering to get more clinical hours for the BSMD programs I am applying to, continue internship at NIH (in person and longer time, hopefully working on my own project that can get published or submitted to competitions), internship at another federal agency part time (paid)(this is tentative), got in contact to help write a chapter of a book with a prof from a T20 school published with like oxford press, work on my high school research group and publish my august, summer school cause i need a honors world history credit, and obvious writing college essays
Any advice to improve my application would be greatly appreciated as well! Thank you so much for reading that so far and sorry for the length of everything!
Heres the rest of my stats:
Demographics: asain (Chinese), female, US public large HS, large class of 400-600ish, upper middle class
Hooks (URM, first-gen, legacy, athlete, etc): First-Gen (only college in the USA)
Intended Track/Major: Pre-Med/bio or neuroscience (other potential majors: art and public health)
GPA and Rank: 4.0 UW, 4.89 W, my school doesn't rank like should be 1 based on my WGPA and also my course rigor cause I was only the second person in my school ever (the first person ever is a current senior going to columbia) to take AP science and AP math in 10th
SAT/PSAT: 1530 (R740, M790) / 1470 psat (I don’t think high enough to get semifinalist, probably just commended)

2024.05.12 23:35 jordaine6 A Panthers Prayer: Round 2 Game 4

O Jigga Boggy, hear our plea, We first thank you for victory in Game 3 As they lace up their skates and take to the ice, Guide their passes, shots, and plays precise
Grant our Panthers speed swift as the wind, Let our defense stand strong, unyielding, and disciplined May Bobby be a wall, impenetrable and bold, Guarding our net as the game unfolds
In this battle against the Bruins, our Cats are fierce and true, Grant them courage and determination, see them through With every puck drop and every shift they take, May their efforts be rewarded, their spirits awake
Let victory be our anthem, our triumph loud and clear, As they fight for glory, with passion and without fear Bless our team with skill, resilience, and might, Tonight, O Jiggeth One, lead us to victory's light
In the name of the game we love, and the team we adore, May we bask in glory, forever more
AND ALL THE RATS SAID?!?!
AMEN!

2024.05.12 19:41 dustball155 Morning after discussion

  1. Even though we only scored one PP goal, the PP overall looked a lot better yesterday.
  2. I have seen some defense of Freddy. And I feel, as if this fan base takes the mediocre save as “he did very well”. Example. The tip by Trouba late. Freddy got across to make the save. That’s… normal for a goalie. I mean, do you think Igor let’s that in? No? Then okay. We MUST hold our expectations higher for our goalie. Freddy has been leaky all series long and has gifted at least one goal to the rangers in every game he has played. We can’t “gift” anything and hence why gifts for and gifts against yield the same series result. 3-1.
  3. The narrative of only 4 teams to come back ends now. How many teams come back from 3-1? Florida last year against Boston comes to mind. They won in Boston game 5. Florida game 6. Boston game 7. We have outplayed NY 5 on 5 all series long and wouldn’t you know? Last night only 3 penalties were called and not any embellishment and we win the game.
  4. ESPN/Vegas has had Carolina favored to win every game this series. Carolina also -115 for game 5.
  5. Turbo. I don’t think we are talking enough about him. Some passes are sublime. Other passes are mind numbing.
  6. Kuzy. Great shot. Has the skill. 2 other moments that stand out. Entered and then left the offensive zone. Swung the puck in the neutral zone right to the rags.
  7. I don’t think Pesce is coming back this series. He hasn’t skated yet. Which makes me think we won’t see him.
  8. TDA - boy. Last night he had 2 great plays. 2 very bad plays defensively. I know this fan base cheers for his failure, but we are going to get what we are going to get and besides Orlov he has been the most physical.
  9. PK NEEDS to be in net. If there is anything I would fault rod on this year is his management of the goalie. I know, Freddy was on a tear down the stretch. But look at his opponents through that stretch when he returned. All bottom feeders and he was still allowing 2 goals a game. Freddy has allowed 4, 4, 3 in his last 3 against NY. And as mentioned before, one of those were gifts in each game. PK didn’t allow a gift after not playing for almost a month. He is the future. Time to give him the torch. But the salary and reputation is going to keep Freddy in net. Unfortunately
  10. We win game 5? And come back to Raleigh? The ENTIRE narrative changes. Win 1 game in NY. We lost every game by 1 goal. 2 in OT. We are, as they say, “right there”. And this easily could be 3-1 or 2-2. We can do this. We are not getting dominated 3-0 or 5-2. Believe.

PRP data and questions
Im a hockey player but developed some achilles issues a few months back. My team doc had me get immediately started with pt, but symptoms have only gotten worse. I cant walk anymore. Does anyone have experience w getting prp shots in general? I found some pretty promising articles but Ive also heard that the data is kindof inconclusive overall.
Pls give me any Achilles advice you have… I’m pretty desperate. Also maybe my skates are pushing on it too hard and I should knock the backs out more?

2024.05.12 07:19 OneAutnmLeaf My Opinions On Every Character In The Game

Hulk -When you jump and slam down, the slam should do damage honestly -His Third form grab and slam should do alot more damage, the fact I can grab a star lord full HP and it NOT kill him is wild to me. (unless he was being healed and I didn't realize lol) -Would be cool if his shield instead of buffing his Hulk Smash that it buffed the next ability's damage.
Doctor Strange -He should be able to hold space and glide, his flight shouldn't be locked to an ability he should be able to glide like other characters honestly -make his flight a bit faster -his autos range could do with a slight increase.
Groot -Rework his smaller shield ability, he doesn't need 2 big ones and a smaller one, 2 is more then enough to control the map, Maybe his replacement could be a grab?
Magneto -Nothing to add I think Magneto is pretty good so far.
Peni Parker -Nothing to add really
Black Panther -Add this to his passive, when you are below 50% HP your ability's recharge 25% faster. -He needs something he is struggling bad to hold his own already honestly.
Hela -Nerf her autos, there is no reason 2 autos should instantly kill squishy....it takes like 6 to kill tanks, that's not ok in the slightest, that's my only issue with her honestly is the fact her autos hit WAY to hard to be fair. -give her 2 dashes as her movement speed is so slow she needs some form of mobility, but only do this AFTER you nerf her autos.
Iron Man -Give his flight a speed boost, it feels a bit to slow -maybe let him dash left or right while flying so he isnt just a easy target in the air. -his micro missiles suck, maybe give them slight tracking and better damage.
Magik -Her Ability's should get slightly buffed damage wise, her autos feel very weak, her teleport hit feels like it doesn't even do extra damage.
Namor -haven't got to play him but from what ive been playing against he feels pretty decently balanced all things considered
The Punisher -One of the best DPS in the game I think giving him a bit less ammo on his assault rifle and making the reload slightly longer would make him more in tune with other DPS characters. -or lower his health to 250 like star lord has since he does so much damage.
Scarlet Witch -Her dark seal is op ASF if you get hit by it your going to be stunned about 2-3 times, which is more then enough to get shredded would be nice to see this maybe turn into a an explosive that deals bleed damage, bc I think the stun is just too much in team fights, and it can block off entrances which I don't think a DPS should have access to honestly, that's more for supports/tanks
Spider-Man -If you hit 3 webs on someone they should be webbed up like they are after 3 hits in your ult. Or let his webs headshot, the fact you cant get headshots with his webs is criminal, they are hard asf to hit at a distance, hitting a headshot and getting extra damage would go along way. -I think his uppercut could hit a bit harder (feels incredibly weak on non dps characters -and I think his webs shots should recharge a bit quicker (maybe even have it to be when you get a kill your web shots instantly recharge (I know this WONT happen, but honestly think Magiks Ult should be Spider-Mans, would be really cool to see you activate the symbiote then buff all your abilitys for a short duration. Considering how long his health is he really doesn't make up for it with his damage like other DPS hero's do. -Compared to his Agility and Mobility his damage is really poor when you compare him to every other DPS hero.
Star Lord -I think his dash should only partially reload his weapons, His weapons already have very fast reload speed, adding 2 instant reloads is overkill imo. -his autos also hit a bit to hard for my tastes, him and hera do way to much damage with just there autos, there almost 0 reason to use there ability bc your autos do more damage. -Give him a double jump with his rocket boots. -make his Blaster Barrage do more damage the longer you cast it
Storm -I think her autos could do with a damage boost honestly -While in ults I think her movement speed could be slightly faster.
Loki -Pretty much fine honestly
Luna Snow -I think her Ice-Skate passive should activate quicker -would be cool if you could ice skate in the air like Ice-Man, but she falls if she does or takes damage.
Mantis -I think she is fine -give her a leap or let her attach to a wall
Rocket -His dash range could be longer, considering its his only real escape I think the range is incredibly short.
I know alot will disagre but this is how I think some characters should be changed honestly.

2024.05.12 06:37 OhmyGhaul All the small things

The Avalanche aren’t making huge glaring mistakes. In fact, it’s not the big mistakes that kill your season. It’s the constant small ones. They’re going to review this game and see that all they had to do was simplify the game.
• Take 2 more seconds with the puck. We’re just panicking and swatting at the puck every time. This creates turnovers and keeps us from being able to create any kind of breakout.
• Move your legs. Second goal tonight could have been avoided if Cogs just keeps moving his legs. In order to win battles you have to move your legs. We’re losing battles and creating scoring chances for Dallas.
• Get in front of the net. I can not stress this enough. Otter is so big he can accidentally make saves and will most of the time. Shots from the point probably won’t go in even if he literally never sees them. Rebounds WILL go in if we battle for the ice in front of the net. Somehow with every shot the Avs are no where to be seen with a rebound.
• Passing is awful. Passes into skates. People missing passes. ENG was because Choo missed an easy pass. Again. Small mistakes = scoring chance for Dallas.
——————————————————————
This isn’t NHL level shit. This is high school or even beer league basics. Dallas is doing all the above and is absolutely the better team. There’s no way we can get any further if the Avs don’t clean this shit up. I’m so tired of seeing it.

2024.05.12 04:35 PepperWilling4393 Marco Rossi Trade Candidates

Here's a (very short) list of dudes I'm aware of right now that meet the criteria of: play center, are young, could fit stated goals of bigger, faster, more scoring on second line, and are rumored to be available for whatever reason.
1.) Kent Johnson from CBJ. Entering 10.2c (like Pinto) the CBJ kind of have a decision to make. Can he play center? Well he very vocally aspires to but most peg him as a play-driving winger. He's nowhere near a 2-way guy right now and his skating isnt amazing but to be fair he's 21 years old. There are rumors about his discontent in CBJ - he started the year in AHL despite a 40 pt season the previous year. There's a non-trivial chance this could be the guy who had the issue with Babcock. A trade for Johnson is a homerun swing on his high-level shot, elite hands and creativity while praying his frame is going to fill out and/or his 2way play will improve enough. This is the probably the biggest homerun swing the Wild could make with a Marco Rossi trade - the ceiling is an elite 1C but its probably not my favorite option bc I'm a bit skeptical and years of being a Wild fan has made me preferential to 2 way Corsi players like Mikko, Ek, etc. Russo did explicitly mention Johnson wrt to Rossi in a podcast recently though.
2.) Martin Necas - A two way player for the Canes who can and really wants to play center but most agree is better on the wing. A really good skater with decent size and good two way play. Just a generally good hockey player for the way the modern NHL game is played imo. Not the most physical but enough. Not the most skilled but enough. Not elite speed but pretty damn fast. The Canes are in a tight spot with their cap and thats the reason they may trade him. If you look at their lost of rfas and ufas theyre going to have to compromise their defense, two-way play (necas), or scoring (guentzal). They might not choose to part with Necas but they have already tried to negotiate with Marty over the course of last season and no contract was signed. This is probably my favorite target for a Rossi trade although this idea does implicitly rely on betting on one of Necas, Yurov, Haight, Heidt sticking at 2C (atleast) which isnt a safe bet and there's also a new rumored candidate I just saw who perhaps fits the Wild situation even better...
3.) Anthony Cirelli - I hadn't thought of him at all until I saw this: https://clutchpoints.com/nhl-rumors-lightning-could-trade-anthony-cirelli-this-summer but it makes a lot of sense. Cirelli, Tampa's 2C, isn't a huge offensive threat but he's a really good skater with good size. The sort of guy that belongs in the Selke conversation along with guys like Ek and Danault (behind Barkov who has that locked up now that Bergeron retired). Cirelli is rumored out of Tampa to make room for tampa to extend Stamkos and Hedman (has another year but sounds like extension is close). This option is the polar opposite of trading for Johnson. Here you know exactly what you are getting (a 40-50 point Ek-type C) and what the price-tag is (cirelli is 6.25 for the next 7 years - aka his prime). You will be relying on your 2nd line wings (Ohgren and Yurov most likely as of right now) to be driving offense in the future but wrt defense and controlling the puck in a pretty good place with Ek and Cirelli down the middle.
There are other options i've heard ofc. Anton Lundell's name is kinda out there but feels less real. And ofc there is always the option of just simply keeping Marco Rossi - which after all, isnt such a bad option at all.

2024.05.12 03:05 GH057807 A VERY long and hopefully reasonable compilation of issues that I see, and changes that I'd like to, after 300+ hours. Not specific to any patch. Discussion welcome.

Quick Intro/DisclaimePlease Read:

Howdy!
I've been playing since launch week, I have over 300 hours of playtime and have reached level 77.
I play with a lot of friends, a lot of randoms, on a lot of difficulties, and their play time and skill levels vary a lot. I read a lot of feedback and opinions on here and discord, opposing views, memes, rants, thought-out thoughts, and have managed to form opinions about things based on experiences that are often but not always the same as mine.
Pretty much everything in here comes with an example of another thing present in the game that gives me reason to question or mention or suggest it. I will also do what I can to provide ideas for a solution where applicable.
This is intensely long for a reddit post, easily a 20 minute read. Been writing it all day. I've tried to format it so that bold things are noteworthy issues and italics are potential solutions or ways I see making sense of things. At least I tried to. I also tried to be brief.
If you'd like to reply to a specific segment, it might be wise to quote that specific segment in your reply, at least in part, so we don't get lost. I would love to talk about this stuff, but this is largely for my own use as a public repository for my feedback on this game in an official-adjacent location. I'm not expecting much interaction from this much text.
Please keep in mind that these are subjective observations and opinions, often generalizations and are in no way meant to convey absolute fact, objective experience, or are designed to be delivered as complaints. Obligatory "I am not a dev, but I am a player."
\Hellpod Music Begins\**

Enemy Unit Balance

Primary Weapon Balance

I will keep this short and sweet. This is a complex job and a topic worthy of its own megathread. This is just my opinion on how I feel Primary Weapons fit a role in this game, and how balancing them should be approached based on those feelings.

Public Testing Environment

UI Features

Utilization of Currency

Cosmetics and Build Customization

Honorable Mentions / Broken Things / Misc

TL;DR - I just hope you are having a nice day. If you are actually struggling with my wall of text, and I can't fault you for that at all, try looking for a bold part that catches your eye and just read the stuff near it.
EDIT:
WELL, I definitely did not expect waking up to over 200 replies. I will do what I can over the course of the day to reply to most of ya'll, but no promises.
It means a whole lot to me how well this was received. I hope it comes across the right desks too. Ya'll are the best.
I gotta turn off notifications for this thread so I can focus on my day, but I will continue to browse through replies and try to interact to the best of my ability. Again, you guys rock.

2024.05.12 01:02 CapableStaircase Autocannon no longer one shots scout striders

Has something changed in recent patches or is my aim just bad? I used to be able to one shot automaton scout striders from the front by shooting them in the crotch with the autocannon. It's a 2 shot in a couple recent games I've been playing.
Is this a result of a reduction in explosion damage the scout strider bots take?

2024.05.11 18:16 VestronVideo Exterminator 2 - #5 of the 150 Movies of 1984

We're serving up fried criminals tonight in this cheesy, action-packed B-movie that promises to blow your mind... but maybe not in a good way. The first Exterminator was a decent, no-nonsense flick with a killer anti-hero, but this sequel can't hold a flame to it. They toned down the violence and threw in a bunch of corny jokes with some wacky characters. Sometimes it's funny, but mostly it falls flat.
Exterminator 2 was directed by Mark Buntzman and William Sachs. Buntzman is an actor that had appeared in the first Exterminator film and had a short career spanning only a few titles. He was not supported by the Cannon Group and this movie suffered for it. His indecisiveness no doubt led to the failure of this film. I mean, Mario Van Peebles’ name in the film is X because Buntzman literally couldn’t decide on what his name should be. Reshoots, rewrites, and censorship plagued the entire production. The owners of Cannon, Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus actually hired director William Sachs to shoot the mended material. And the film would finally be released to theaters on September 14th, 1984.
Ruthless gangs have been pushing drugs and assaulting random people on the harsh streets of New York City. And a new gang led by the enigmatic X has been taking over the streets and putting fear back into the hearts of New Yorkers. Behavior that a vigilante like The Exterminator just doesn’t approve of. Now it’s a battle between X’s cult of weirdos and New York’s fiery new punisher.
The film stars Robert Ginty who again dons the welding mask and picks up the flamethrower as the vigilante, John Eastman. Under James Glickenhaus’ direction, Ginty did great. He was a badass that mirrored a Chuck Norris-esq type character. However, with a less experienced director like Mark Buntzman, Ginty is laughable. You just don’t get the same performance. He’s a goof. He tries way too much and doesn’t come off as genuine. It’s bizarre that this second outing just feels like a vanity project for him. We watch him float around from scene to scene but it doesn’t feel natural. There is a sex scene between Ginty and Deborah Geffner that feels off putting and wrong. Zero chemistry.
We also have a very young Mario Van Peebles who is hilariously bad. I really don’t know what’s going on with him. Nothing about his character makes any sense. The ceremonial killings, the weird hand movements, the odd retro/futuristic costume, the whining. The scene when they throw an armored truck worker onto electrified tracks and then Peebles puts up the X sign. It's corny as all hell. But okay, I'll still be on board. The one actor that I had a great time with was Frankie Faison. He’s terrific as Be Gee, an old army buddy of Eastman’s that acts as the film’s comedy relief. Every scene he was in was great. He’s one of my favorite character actors and I was more than happy to spend time with him in this movie.
Breakdancer Scott 'Slow-motion' Randolph showcases his signature breakdancing move, a slow-motion pantomime of walking against the wind, performed repeatedly on roller skates. While impressive, his usefulness in the film is limited, with one exception: a scene where he kidnaps a woman on his skates. That was pretty entertaining. Eagle-eyed viewers might catch John Turturro who makes a blink-and-you'll-miss-him cameo. Ron Taylor, who appeared in Trading Places, is also in this movie buying a gold watch from John Eastland. Taylor's excitement after the purchase is fun as he races across a busy New York street to deliver the watch to a weird-looking stylish woman. The way the crowd parts around is no doubt accidental but still my favorite shot of the movie. Kudos to whoever directed this (Sachs or Buntzman).
The first Exterminator boasted decent effects and a story that wasn't entirely terrible. While not a masterpiece, it certainly surpassed this half-baked sequel. I sympathize with Mark Buntzman, who likely had a vision but lacked the necessary skills to execute it. With proper rewrites and more experience, he might have delivered a halfway decent film. The special effects work with the full-body fire suits was commendable. The stunt performers clearly put in a lot of effort. While flamethrower kills are scarce, explosions and fiery demise are plentiful.
This isn’t a family friendly movie and it’s not something to throw on for a light date-night. However, if it’s late and you just want to turn your brain off and watch bad-guys getting burnt to a crisp, then this might be what you are looking for. The kind of movie you would find playing on USA Up All Night or on TNT’s Joe Bob's Drive-in Theater. But it’s not really worth seeking out or hunting down unless you're a completist like me.

2024.05.11 15:07 StretchyZebra21 [TOMT] looking for a music video!

I’m trying to remember the name of a song, but I can only remember snippets from the video. There’s a girl in a pink jumpsuit roller skating in front of an old diner, then she’s in an empty pool with a Doberman, and there’s a shot of an old mechanic dude dancing in a junkyard.

2024.05.11 14:24 HayzWrites Keith's Transformation Ch 4 [M30s/M30s/F30s][crossdressing][femdom][chastity][first time bi][blowjob]

Keith's Transformation Ch 4 [M30s/M30s/F30s][crossdressing][femdom][chastity][first time bi][blowjob]
Friday morning came, meaning it had been a week since their session, and Keith couldn’t stop wondering about the surprise Jasmine had mentioned. His cock was still locked away, and though he had grown used to the weight, it served as a constant reminder. He had to laugh at the irony, the cage making him horny while also preventing him from so much as getting hard, much less getting relief.
As he started getting ready for the day, he was intrigued to find a pair of silk panties and a note in his underwear drawer. He could nearly hear the words written in Jasmine’s dominant voice. “I think you should wear these today. I want to make sure you’re in the mood for tonight.” His cock fought against the cage as his thoughts fought between sexy fantasies of what was coming, and the embarrassment of wearing panties all day. Nevertheless he pulled them on, leaving his folded boxers in the drawer.
His day passed in a daze, barely able to focus on the work he was doing. His heart skipped a beat every time someone came to his desk to ask a question, and through every meeting, sure someone would notice somehow. When the end of the day came, he rushed to pack up and head out, politely declining offers to go out for a drink from a few co-workers on his team.
Dinner was mercilessly normal. Jasmine gave nothing away, almost as if she hadn’t been taunting him about tonight for a week. It wasn’t until later, as he was bent over loading the dishwasher, that she made her move. She came up behind him, hand rubbing over his ass and whispered in his ear “When you’re done there, come upstairs so we can get ready for your surprise. You’ve been such a patient girl for me.” His cock twitched against the cage as she walked off and he hurried to finish loading the last of the plates.
He came into the room as she finished laying out his outfit for the night, but he was surprised to see she wasn’t dressed yet. She looked at him expectantly and he stripped and started to put on his outfit for the night. It started with a pair of black lacy panties that swallowed up his caged package, leaving just the hint of a bulge. This was followed shortly by soft fishnet leggings, though he left the heels for now. A lacy bra matched the panties, and he was surprised to find that some clever padding and positioning turned his natural, slightly flabby chest into a perky pair of A cups, complete with a hint of cleavage. Finally, he pulled the dress on top, taking a few moments to adjust the mesh sleeves and straps, and stepped into a pair of high heels.
Once he was dressed, she sat him on the bed and grabbed her makeup. This was new, but he sat obediently as she went at him with brushes and pencils. Satisfied, she gave his ass a slap before leaving to get ready herself.
Keith stared in disbelief at the woman he saw in the full-length mirror in front of him. A pair of crimson, three-inch heels started the outfit, giving way to fishnets running up her smooth legs. The centerpiece of the outfit was a black and red gothic Lolita dress. Fluffy ruffles and frills of lace gave a playful edge to the short skirt and revealing top. Transparent black mesh covered her arms below the shoulder. The top was low cut, dipping low enough to give just a peak of her small but firm cleavage. Straps ran from the top to a trimmed collar around her neck. Her dark hair was left down, falling just short of her shoulders, framing her face. Her lips were painted with a deep red that looked nearly black, giving sharp contrast to her pale skin. Light mascara and eye shadow drew attention to her piercing blue eyes that seemed to look through Keith’s soul as he stared.
The sight left Keith in a daze, there was no way he was looking at himself. There wasn’t a trace of himself in the reflection, no matter where he looked. No, this wasn’t him anymore. Sure, Keith was the one looking into the mirror, but Kelly was staring back at him.
“How the hell did I get here?” He asked himself, then shook his head to clear his thoughts as he heard Jasmine coming back.
His eyes widened as he saw her outfit for the night. She stood before him in a white suit that had just a hint of pearlescent shine. Matching pearl earrings glinted from among her flowing hair. The suit jacket was fastened by just one button right below her cleavage, showing and framing a lacy crimson corset displaying her impressive cleavage. The crisp suit pants stopped right above her ankles, giving clear view of blood red heels to match the corset. Her own makeup was impeccably done. Around her neck was a thin silver chain. Dangling on the end, resting just above her cleavage, was a small padlock key.
“Ready to go Kelly?” She asked, taking his hand before he could respond. His heart was pounding as she grabbed her purse and pulled him to the garage. She ushered him into the passenger side of the car and climbed in. She saw the panic clear on his face and took his hand, smiling at him.
“We don’t have to go out, we can just go back upstairs. But I want to see you suck a real cock, and I think you want to be a good girl and show me, don’t you?” His submissive urge to please her warred with his humiliation, the two feelings mixing and setting off a storm of desire in his chest. She whispered in his ear and his fate was sealed. “Are you going to be my good girl?” Keith nodded weakly. He, or tonight rather she, was Jasmine’s to command.
Jasmine drove them through the town, one hand resting on Kelly’s leg for support, pulling into the parking lot of a small local bar. Once again taking her hand as they entered the bar, Kelly could feel multiple pairs of eyes on them as they entered. She supposed they did make quite the pair. Jasmine led her to a booth in the corner, leaving her to sit as she went for drinks.
A few minutes into their drinks and chatting someone approached their booth. Kelly nearly jumped in surprised as he said hi, but Jasmine clapped in excitement. “John! You’re right on time. This is Kelly, she’s who I was telling you about. Kelly this is John, he’s going to help us tonight.” She said with a knowing wink in her direction.
A few drinks and a short walk later, the three of them found themselves in a hotel room Jasmine had reserved for the night. As soon as they got in the room, Jasmine grabbed Kelly by the hair and pulled her towards the bed. John pulled off his shirt and pants, but as he was hooking in his thumbs in the waistband of his underwear he was stopped by Jasmine. “Leave the boxers, I want her to get the full reveal.” He shrugged and came to sit on the edge of the bed in front of them.
Jasmine pulled Kelly’s head in front of his crotch then leaned down to whisper in her ear. “Now be a good girl and give me a good show.” Kelly shuddered, her dick fighting to rise in her cage, as she looked at the obvious bulge in front of her. Jasmine let her go and moved to sit in a chair off to the side, unbuttoning her suit jacket as she sat. “I’m waiting slut.” Kelly slowly pulled off his boxers, eyes widening as his cock came into view. Already hard, he was even bigger than the strap-on Jasmine had trained her with. Licking her lips, she opened her mouth and took the head in with no hesitation. She paused for a minute, not used to the taste and the warmth compared to the dildos she was used to sucking. John’s hand came to rest lightly on her head and she went to work.
She started slow, sucking gently on the head as she swirled her tongue around, then moving down his shaft slowly. She wrapped one hand around the base of his shaft and stroked slowly as she bobbed over the first few inches of his dick. His hand pushed lightly on the back of her head, fingers twisting in her hair as she sucked and licked. Her hand moved down to play with his balls as she lowered her mouth completely down his shaft. She looked up at him with lust in her eyes as she deepthroated his dick, reveling in his soft groans as his cock stretched her throat.
Over in the chair, Jasmine’s pants were around her ankles and her fingers were rubbing her clit furiously. Her gaze fixed on the sight of Kelly on her knees, her throat bulging around John’s thick cock. “God yes baby, you’re such a good girl.” She moaned out, slipping two fingers inside herself. “Show me what a good cock sucker you are.” Kelly redoubled her efforts and started to slide faster up and down his dick. John groaned, letting her go for a few minutes before tightening his grip and taking control. He held her head in place and started thrusting at a brutal pace. Drool dripped off Kelly’s chin as he fucked her face, using her mouth fast and hard. Kelly’s dick was leaking precum into her panties as she was used like a cheap toy.
It didn’t take long before John groaned loudly and pulled her as far as he could down his dick. She felt his dick throb as he pumped his cum directly down her throat and heard Jasmine moan out loudly as her own orgasm overtook her. John pulled her off his dick, causing the last few shots of cum to fill her mouth and splash across her face. Pulling her glistening fingers from her pussy, Jasmine smiled a wicked smile as she looked at Kelly’s cum smeared face.
“Good girl. You did so well. Now for the main event...”

2024.05.11 02:57 iwifi Skypad Control/Smoothness Tracking Routine

Hi there! I quickly just wanted to share this playlist I have made.
About a month and half ago, I switched over from a traditional cloth pad that was more control focused than speed focused, that I used for around 3,200 hours in a variety of games (a little more than half of that on Apex), to my first ever glass mouse pad. Initially, the speed was so much more noticeable and my 'long strafe' tracks felt really good, but the precision and mouse control was a huge hurdle to overcome. After a month, my mouse control is nearly back to where it was, and this playlist really helped me gain confidence and rebuild my ability to be precise and keep my control in line, while not sacrificing my speed. I can still see my progress increasing overtime and paired with a solid speed tracking routine, it really helps in games like Apex.
Here is the share code if you are interested in checking it out: KovaaKsImpactingTurquoiseBuff
Some extra things:
  1. Even if you are not using a glass pad or a hard pad, I feel like this will still be beneficial to you. It focuses on small bots and prioritizes smoothing your wrist, while still forcing you to read bot movement.
  2. This playlist usually takes me about 30 minutes to complete, with minimal restarts and downtime.
  3. I built this playlist for people who would consider themselves on the higher level of intermediate to advanced. However, if you wouldn't consider yourself as such, I still believe that this playlist could help you. It is not full of the hardest scenarios, but scenarios that I believe isolate some common issues with smoothness and control.
  4. If you want a harder challenge, and really focus on your smoothness and precision, I would recommend turning your sensitivity up to around 30% more or higher. I normally play on 1.3, 800 DPI on source and will often turn my sens up to 1.7-1.85. If you are on a glass pad, using a mouse with slicker skates can add an extra level of difficulty. I normally play on a Superlight 2 with the stock skates, but will switch to my Pulsar X2H Medium with Corepad Skates on them specifically for the playlist. This has added less friction to my mouse movements, makes shaky aim more noticeable, and has made me focus even more on keeping the crosshair on target. When I switch back to my main mouse, I feel more in control and can generally hit my shots better.
  5. If you do this, I will usually play the playlist once or twice on the higher sens, and then once or twice on the lower sens. I usually repeat this for one week and mix in speed tracking as much as I can before I take up too much time.
  6. Doing these things should help increase your scores overtime, and when applied correctly in game through practice and conscious effort, should translate well in game, as it has for me.
This is my first time sharing a playlist with the intention of bettering aim for more people than just myself, so if you have any feedback or want to discuss anything, feel free to comment below!

2024.05.11 00:48 Chrycoboy Maple Leaf Defense thought process .

Pieterangelo- $7+mil/yr - a beast, rocket shot, can handle opposing forwards and clear the zone. Hanifin -$7+ mil/yr, rt hand shot, can crank it, physical with size, solid defensively. Tanev - $5-6mil/yr, heart and soul/beast/solid defensively/blocks shots with face and comes back into game, leader on ice, defensively responsable.has a shot. Dadarov - $5-7mil/yr, beast, hits everything that moves, blocks shots, clears zone defensively responsable, has a hard shot. Reilly- $8+yr x8- screens own goalie, does not know defensive coverages, defensively irresponsable, no physicality unless hitting after whistle from behind, can skate ahead of forwards and stay too long in offensive zone, pop gun shot, turnstyle one on one.
Guess who the Leafs so called stud defenseman is. Hahahaha. This is how our team is run and no wonder they are where they are. Hope they correct mistakes like this otherwise another same ol same ol regardless of press conferance babble.
