The other day, I was just wandering around the shopping mall, not really paying attention to anything. Out of nowhere, this pushy salesperson starts waving at me like a lunatic, trying to reel in a customer. I ignored him, not even giving him eye contact, but before I knew it, he yanked me over to his booth. Without a second of hesitation, he started his spiel about some facial cream, shoving a brochure in my hand. I was pretending to listen, but in my head, I was plotting my escape.
Then, out of the blue, this guy opens the cream and slathers it on my left fist WITHOUT ASKING! He had the nerve to compare it to my right fist, all excited, saying, “See, it looks lighter now!” Like I’m some idiot who doesn’t know that any lotion would do the same thing. I kept a fake smile plastered on my face, but inside, I was boiling.
Clearly seeing I wasn’t buying his BS, he squeezes out more cream and, get this, HE FUCKING SMEARS IT ON MY FACE! I jerked my head away, trying to signal my absolute refusal, but he had the audacity to tell me to keep still while he smeared that crap on my cheek. Then, he hands me a mirror and does his little sales pitch again, “Your left cheek looks smoother now, even the acne is less visible!”
At this point, I wanted to punch him square in the face, but I held back, trying to stay calm and think of an exit strategy. Before I could react, he bags up the cream and hands it to me, saying there’s a promotion: RM 75 for the container and a free tube. I was screaming inside, HELL NO! I've been smoking a lot of hopium since the release of CoH3 and I'm really happy with what they've done so far. Leavers penalties (and surrender) are *huge* game changers and something that, imo, killed team games in CoH2.
Player count has gone up a bit since the free week and sale, but we're still going to have imbalanced matches. Allowing players to queue for either faction will, in theory, allow the matchmaking system to more evenly distribute players.
This was possible in CoH1, so it's a bit silly that it's not a feature here.
Other notable, small QOL changes I would love to see that aren't entirely related to this thread, but worth mentioning:

1. Reduce the VP Ticket Drain speed back to CoH2 speeds in 3v3 and 4v4. The community is very divided on this topic, and i think it's simply a disagreement that arises from the difference of 1v1/2v2 vs team games. The new speed is fine for 1v1 and 2v2, but 3v3 and 4v4 are kinda meant to be longer and more intense, establishing front-lines and using artillery, with multi-player pushes through no man's land just to grab the VP for a few more crucial seconds. The faster VP drain makes comebacks more difficult.
2. Allow players to choose their starting position or at least put partied up friends next to each other. It's kinda lame that you and a friend might not be next to each other and don't get the opportunity to work together.
3. Allow players to complete dailies and weeklies on custom mods/maps. This is pretty self explanatory, and it seems like it's something they might be planning on doing anyway, given that one of the weeklies I saw was to play 5 matches with a Steam Workshop mod. A bit silly that I have to play a mod, but can't progress other challenges at the same time.

Overall, I have a lot of hope that CoH3 can continue to grow and improve and hopefully be better than CoH2 in the long run. The release was abysmal, but we are getting there, and I'd love these small QOL changes to help create a more fair and balanced competitive experience.

Hi all,
So I have seen a few posts but don’t quite understand what people are suggesting etc.
My situation is that I’m currently on a second working holiday visa 417, my second visa expires May 25th 2024. I have not completed six months of regional work only about 2/3 as I had to go home and have only just got back.
My brother is a permanent resident and he is going back home to visit from 25th May to 25th July, so I have the place to myself so I don’t really have to work I can stay as a tourist etc. I also have family here etc so somewhere to stay without work isn’t an issue luckily.
I am just wondering what my best option was regarding visas, do I apply for a tourist visa inside Australia that seems expensive because I’ll then have to pay again for my WHV, or do I leave and come back in on a tourist visa that’s free but how does this work? Do I have to enter another country and wait for it to be approved before I come back or is it all instant, like do I book my return flights for the same day, surely this is a bit of a risk? I can’t apply for my next WHV until after July.
It’s all legit, I will be staying as a tourist from 25th May to July, I just want to make sure I’m going about it the best way.

Ok hear me out, Bosnia is like 50% muslim so it's not surprise that most Bosniaks have some traditional muslim names of Arabic or Turkish origin e.g. Hasan, Muhamed, Emir, Adnan, Jusuf etc. These are most common ones, but nothing weird about it, as the Turks were ruling Bosnia for centuries.
What puzzles me are some of modern names, that are so popular in BiH to the point where nobody even questions their origin but classifies them simply as Muslim.
Names "Erwin" and "Armin" are very common in BiH, exclusively among Muslim families. And BiH is probably the only other country (next go Germany) where you can still find those names. In reality both are old and obsolete germanic names and have no idea how did they settle into bosnian culture.
Partly probably due to the influence of Austria-Hungary, but my theory is that the main reason for this phenomena is the fact these names kinda sound a little bit "Muslim", or better said, they resemble other Muslim names, such as "Eldin, Aldeen, Almin", which are also very popular in Bosnia.
So that people simplly decided to be modern and creative at naming children, while partially keeping a Muslim traditional tone in doing so. But I don't think most people are even aware of the fact these names have no muslim background
Other common examples are names:
Alen - obviously of celtic origin, but also very popular in neighbouring Croatia. Not quite sure how did it become so popular among Bosnian Muslims in the meantime.
Dino - Italian origin, also quite popular in Croatia. But I believe Bosnian Dino might be sligthtly different than italian / croatian Dino. A lot of muslim names ends on -din (Semsudin, Hajrudin etc) so Dino might be a nickname which later turned to given name.
Denis - I suppose it's more likely related to turkish "Deniz", which has nothing to do to european Dennis.
Jamezdin - ok, this one is quite funny and unconfirmed, personally never met anyone with such name, but apparently it exists. The roots are from "James Dean" who was a very popular figure back then, so people named kids after him, where the combination of his first and last name gave the Muslim-sounding "Jamezdin".
Rusmir - obiviously with slavic background (common suffix -mir), except you won't find this name absolutely in no other slavic culture but Bosniak.
There are also other examples I can't think of right now, but here and there I come across some name in Bosnia & Herzegovina I'm not even sure it officially exists. Simply sounds invented, but at the same time very muslim.
Any thoughts about this?!

I recently came back, and truthfully Ive only had enough motivation to play once or twice a week. I have way more free time to play than that, but I log in on Tuesdays to check the vault, knock out some LFAwakened and a mythic or two, then I figure I'll leave the city for once.
I zoom out on the map, and there are icons on top of icons, currencies, dailies, weeklies, skulls, dungeons, events, progress gauges, an Assassin killing my faction over there, there is an npc whispering about someone being attacked, a village under fire....My session ends here. Meh Ill come back later. Why did the game feel more alive without all this stuff?
And when I do see something cool I want to check out - stop right there criminal scum, my dragon with wings needs a minute to catch his breath.
Ive played off and on since 2005 and this whole experience in 2024 just makes me go "What the fuck is happening?" Its taken me weeks just to get to 491 on my healer, mainly because there are so many damn gear paths and no obvious optimal way to go about it for a returning or new player. You fall into a trap of upgrading all this new and exciting gear only to learn you couldve saved all the myriad different currencies to upgrade or purchase a better base item the game doesnt tell you exists until you google it.
And I dont want to talk about how insanely difficult these M+ dungeons and raids have been as a healer. It feels like addons and a full study guide are a mandatory requirement to do anything, and even then you cant see half of whats happening on screen behind the epilepsy of colors, effects, alerts, movement, etc.
I miss WoW, I miss it not feeling like it's a job I have to have 10 tabs open in the background to prepare for.

1. Rescue pittie's background
There's a 3-year-old pit bull mix I found that's been in foster care for over a year, let's call her baby girl. She has an unknown history, likely abandoned or maybe abused, and was brought in by a good samaritan. She was in a shelter, but quickly moved to a foster home because she "didn't do well" in the shelter (unsure of exactly what that means). She's been described as shy, anxious, and needing an adult-only home. I've been speaking with the foster mom for about 3 weeks, and she told me how hard it's been to find the perfect owner for baby girl.
Not only does baby girl need an adult-only home, but it's also preferred that she's the only animal in the house, so she can't go to a family with another dog or cat. That narrows down the list of potential owners to mainly young adults, who often live in apartment buildings that don't allow pit bulls, or with roommates who are afraid of pit bulls. Baby girl seems to be thriving in foster care right now but, unfortunately, the foster mom can't afford to keep her because she already has a dog.
Foster mom and I have had a few lengthy conversations now about baby girl's demeanor in foster care, and some of her known behavior issues. Baby girl doesn't like men and will usually growl at them if they come near. Foster mom didn't mention any violent incidents, but also that she can't definitively say whether or not baby girl is a biter since her history is still largely unknown. Baby girl can be dominant around other dogs, but thankfully has gotten along fine with foster mom's dog. Baby girl also resource guards, but no mention of snapping or aggression. Foster mom said overall, baby girl needs a lot of patience, positive reinforcement, consistency, and lots and lots of love to build trust.
2. Why I'm the best candidate
I'm single, live alone, have no pets, and my landlords are okay with a pitbull. So far, I'm only one who's come along expressing interest in baby girl and who meets all the foster mom's criteria. I've never owned, nor have I fostered, but I've been the designated dog sitter for just about anyone I know with a dog for the past several years. I've also been around pit bulls my entire life, so I'm well aware of their reputation, and just how lethal they can be if they become violent and aren't trained properly.
As far as baby girl's behavior goes, I understand that "needing an adult-only home" means that she can't be around children, or really anyone who can't read and appropriately respond to her body language. I'm a young adult not planning to have kids ANY time soon, and none of my close friends have kids, so that's really no problem. My friends are also dog people, so I feel confident they wouldn't overstep baby girl's boundaries. If, god forbid, anything happened that would make baby girl feel threatened and react aggressively towards people, I feel confident that I have the physical strength to restrain her.
I understand I need to put a lot of work into training and caring for baby girl. Even though I'm in grad school, I thankfully get to work from home most days of the week which means I won't have to leave her home alone for hours on end. Summer also starts soon and my schedule will be free of classes with minimal research. That'll give me the time I need to help acclimate her to the new home, establish a routine, and hopefully build a trusting relationship. The foster mom has told me I'm exactly the kind of owner she's dreamed of for baby girl.
3. My reservations
Despite being trusted to watch my friends' dogs over the years, I'm still very inexperienced. I've never personally owned a dog. As a first time owner, adopting an anxious rescue pit bull is a HUGE undertaking. I reached out to a dogtrainer to schedule a behavior consult and see about learning some training techniques, but upon learning about baby girl's history, the trainer HIGHLY recommended I go with another dog.
And, look.. I know this isn't going to be easy. I know it would be sooo much simpler for me to get a young, confident dog who would need practically no time to get settled. I also know that just because the right owner hasn't come along before me, doesn't mean one won't come along after me. But, the longer she is in foster care, the harder it's going to be to transition her to a new home. I might fit the criteria the foster mom is looking for in an owner, but I'm trying not to let that pressure me into making a potentially irresponsible decision.
I also live in an apartment, and baby girl right now is in a BIG house with a backyard that she can run around whenever she wants. I have a small patio that she might like to hang out on, but we'll for sure need to go on daily walks. Even still, will walks be enough? There's a dog park close to my apartment, but there's no way I can let her off leash to run around. At least, not until we develop a strong recall and definitely not until I can trust her around other dogs. Isn't that kind of unfair, that she might not get any chance to run free for weeks, or maybe months?
And then, in terms of the cost, I'm on a grad school salary - not exactly swimming in excess income. I've been considering rescuing a dog for quite a while and checked my budget to see if it would be possible. I know I can definitely afford food, regular vet visits, grooming every so often, that kind of stuff. Also, the foster mom is going to give me all of baby girl's comforts like her bed, toys, favorite treats, etc., so that eliminates most up-front costs. She's also already spayed, chipped, and has her shots. But if something serious happens to her, I don't have thousands lying around to pay for a big vet bill. I have some savings and maybe could use a credit card, but it's such a scary thought that I might not be able to pay for the care she needs.
As much as I feel emotionally ready and willing to adopt baby girl, I'm terrified by the sheer amount of responsibility that comes with caring for another life. She's going to be with me for the next 7-10 years. I'll be graduating in just about 3 years, and then who knows what life will throw at me. Is a couple of years enough time to address her behavior issues? I just don't know. I'm scared, she's scared, we're a couple of nervous nellies. She's been waiting for a home for so long, and damn, I really want to be the one to give it to her. But sometimes, caring isn't enough.

I'm quite discouraged by what I read on the internet. It seems to be commonly accepted that you better have to find someone before finishing your studies, that it's the best time to find a girlfriend, and that once you enter the world of work, it becomes difficult. I'm 21 years old, I've been going to school for 19 years including 3 years at college, I've never had a single girlfriend in my entire life. And now I'm being told it's going to be even harder? 😭
It's true that statistically, dating seems to happen mostly online, or through friends/at school, but I'm really discouraged now. I'm in med school, I don't have a lot of free time, women are for the majority of them distant or already in a relationship. I already tried dating apps, it crushed my ego more than anything else. I get screwed by the filters because I'm 5'5 and anyway, I'm not attractive. I don't drink alcohol either and I'm not interested in going to bars. And now, when I finish school, I'm being told that it's going to be even more difficult? How true is this?
