The film that broke me (But did it?) Don't give up.

2024.05.13 07:34 CrystalCommittee The film that broke me (But did it?) Don't give up.

Yes, I am pinning this, because I can! (I'm the moderator and this is my thread).
Note: I'm doing this because many of you, and many more I chat with, are falling into the caveats of 'gotta do this first', etc., and nothing gets done.
So flags and warnings: THIS IS A FILM ABOUT SELF-INJURY AND DEPRESSION! (Eight years, no one bothered with the trailers and the like, then suddenly uproar, yeah...dealing with that). Note: It's all fake, absolutely no harm came to any of my actors. But I pulled it off, and spent like no money!
Why am I doing this? Because I wrote for the screen. But I'm also an editor at its base, a camera jockey, and a producer (take all the money out of those titles). I have been through all the things that you see as hurdles right now: getting the publisher, selling your book, and finding someone to produce it.
Just ask yourself, could you ever find someone like me, that didn't cost you a dime, that would work with you, and take your vision to the screen? That's a goal for most, but you don't know what is involved. I actually do.
The below links are to a film I exec. produced (I was the money I could have done it without, but I was playing the game, and I did it well), Produced (I made things happen, like coordinating locations, actors, etc), and shot it (I was the only camera -- all one). I was the Editor. (I didn't want to be, but shit happens. I color-corrected, fixed the sound, and a million other things). There is something to be said about editing your own work, and that is what I was trying to avoid. I ended up doing i, with help.
I realize 99% of you have no idea what I just mentioned above.
Twelve days, people, twelve! Everything you see, was shot with one camera in twelve days. I can't share the version I really liked that shows it all and has the music that I PAID for to be in it....shit! Youtube locked me out of that account. No worries, I can upload it, but it's on a harddrive and effort. When I say I paid for it, I put my lead actresses' sister in a recording studio to record a full album. (My lead actress had other things to do, that paid better, but I kept to my word.) I'll share with Ocham's razor (the band) 'cause yah, behind the scenes a lot on that.
But those twelve days? They had a lot before and a lot after. That screenplay XT wrote, wouldn't have ever passed a test. But she wrote it, and I said I'd shoot it. It was 30 pages (General rule, about a minute to a page) Yeah, no, that went out the window with the flashbacks. I had an MC that didn't say a word until the very end with a 12 minute monologue. (You try holding a camera through three takes of Natasha emoting in a cemetery in Bothell WA in NOVEMBER! and see how you do.)
For film, it was difficult, I didn't care. Written? Damn, it carried weight. It was a ten-minute read. Video? To get it all? about 45 mins. And yeah, directors choice, 'lights in motion' because so much of it was in flashbacks, and memory sucks. Three to four versions of a 'scene' which one is real? (If you know anything about video or theatre, lights in motion are just 'bad!'. Made it work until I had to mix shots together. (Editor stuff).
So this was the final edit of it. (Color corrected, a musical score designed for it.) Seconds And the closest I can come (right now) to how it should have been, 7b
What do I want you to get from this? you don't need the publisher house, you don't need to fork out 100's or 1000's of dollars to see it come to life. There is going to be someone like me who can do that, and we just want to add it to a bullet point in a resume. (I didn't need that, but okay.) Just before this, I shot a fan film (No money could be made on it) between witchblade and Tombraider, the comics. I had both comic writers letting me do it. Money got in the way, (And actors needing to move to greener pastures, as I couldn't pay them). It was called "Awakenings" And I did it twice over. I'm an editor at heart, so we get videos that don't do them justice. One character (Pez) Video I made because of stuff. (This was six hours in a space, and the secondary that happened in the same and time) Video This was all pre-2007. We spent hours! making it, setting up the scenes, etc, it and got boiled down to 4 min videos that get nuked because I used full songs.
I did a second attempt at awakenings, got more footage, but I couldn't go any further. And it is part of where my Sam/Amanda story comes from. Am I trying to appease the 'publisher gods?" sure, i'd like it to be that level. But I know I can go around it. And so can all of you.
Do it, because you love it. My writing was originally intended to be short webisodes, that launched off of my own server. I can't (I can, but it involves too much, capitalizing at its best). I sold my equipment to move, but you know, I can do what I did with a phone. (Gods help me for saying that).
Enjoy, watch, This is who I am. I am not chasing the 'million dollars for an idea', I'm the one that is part of the team that gets you there.

Hobo Funnie Show Story explained by Creator HoboGuyCool
Hello, My name is HoboGuyCool. Recently I said I was stopping production on my videos/the Hobo funnie show series. At this point I'm more than confident that I'll never return to it, and I feel as though since there is *supposed to be a proper ending* to the series, I should take the time today and explain the story of the show and the plans I had for it.
(sorry if this post is formatted like dogshit I don't ever use reddit lmao even)
This was the logo I made for the show back in early 2022. I'm also kind of putting this here just to show people \"Yes it's really me\"
**Something to note as well, the Christmas special is not canon whatsoever, it was just a silly gag episode that I wanted to do because I thought It'd be funny lol**
When I first made hobo back in 2019 or so, I just had him as a stand in for me. But after a while me and thewackoprophet knew we had to do something with him, so I decided instead of being how I drew myself online, He would become his own mascot for the channel.
Basic Summary of the plot:
In 2005 a company Called "ramster" set in a parallel universe to our own, released ringtone ad akin to the gummy bear video, of a little jellybean mascot called "Hobo Hobo" that garnered millions of downloads, They were approached by "Wayward vision" a Company Interested in using their own technology to create a short form series of really shitty low effort low money webisodes that has an AI animating and doing most of the production work. They also had the desire to create iPad apps and low effort content similar to the stuff you seen online throughout the years. This entire process was to be done in one shot via a machine, in order to save time and money. Everything was going smoothly, until one fateful evening, the CEO of the company "ramster" was caught up in major fraud. After a pursuit, he breaks into the building and makes his way into the "AI room". No one knows exactly what happened, but after a confrontation in the room the CEO was found dead. After the CEO's remains have been cleared from the premises, it turns out to nobody's knowledge that a freak turn of events transpired. Instead of the CEO's consciousness ceasing all together, It somehow got attached to the show in some way, and His consciousness was imported into the main character, Hobo.
The central theme of the show would have been the CEO of the company having to live through the same awful content that he helped push out because he was a sleazy dirtbag CEO.
A lot of this had already been shown in the show itself if I'm being honest, there was one part in the "Ad comp" video to where it had shown a news article on a bench explaining this aspect of the story in the show. The entire story of each episode was revolving around hobo finding out bits of his past through flashbacks.
The things I didn't get to show, I.E "What would have came next":
Initially, this run would have comprised of 3 videos, The Ad comp, (the one that came out) The "mobile game advertisement video" and the final video, "Maybe One Day." Which was going to be the big finale music video spectacle for the series.
The mobile game Ad: The gist of the video is basically this, Hobo would have been stuck in those horrible game ads akin to the mobile game ads we see today. I'm referring to the ones where it's 3D animated and there's like this couple and the dude is sucking on the girls toes as she farts in her face or something. Yeah, those ones. I was pretty excited to do that one because that sphere of low effort content that tries to scam you into giving you your credit card info is a *gold mine* to me. I have a basic outline of the episode, but as far as plot points go I still haven't gotten that far, (and obviously I don't plan on doing so). The lore reveals for that episode would have shown hobo finally seeing how he died before he was imported into the consciousness of a jelly bean mascot that he helped to push out. This is also the one that would have shown a new side to hobo's character, one which I'm really bummed I never got to show properly. In this episode I was going to show hobo's abilities of a game platforming mascot, seeing as his model had been upgraded so would his move-set, seeing as he was now also going to be a gaming mascot. There were going to be a few chase scenes in this episode revolving around hobo going through an obstacle course, and the last bout with the AI.
Maybe One Day: Maybe One Day was set to be the big finale music video that would have shown the story of how hobo both died as a human, and how Hobo finally got out of the cycle he was stuck in. The song was the first thing I ever wrote for the show. It starts out almost 1:1 with the gummy bear song before devolving into something else. It is very inspired by those electronic music songs of the late 2000's. (Think Ravers Fantasy and Basshunter). I don't necessarily think that type of music is objectively "the best" but the song is kind of a love letter to that genre of music. This is also where you would have heard hobo's theme in full. The music video was going to cut back between the CEO running from Wayward Vision loan sharks hunting him down through the ramster building and hobo in the computer running away from the AI, who is set to erase everything. Hobo's parts were going to be really faced past, very similar to a lot of sonic cutscenes. I have had the scenes of this video in my head even before I came up with this iteration of the show. *yes, there were a few Ideas we had before the one you all ended up seeing* I will probably put the final song on SoundCloud somewhere.
Another thing I'm sad I never got to show more of was hobo's abilities. He was going to get a lot better at cloning himself and using that abilities in various ways to try and get out of situations. There were even moments in the show where I wanted to show more of his arrogant and over confident side. Nothing to hammy and lame, but it was always a part of that character I really wanted to show.
This is some concept art I drew for the music video around a year ago. it would have ended up similar to this I'm sure.
The music video would have ended in hobo overwhelming the AI with duplicates of himself which would have caused the machine to explode and take the whole building down with it in the end. In some way shape or form, hobo would have managed to make his way out of that reality and into ours. This was going to be the final end point of the series.
Now, If I'm being completely honest, the story is incredibly basic and even hammy at some points, I know. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible because from my experience in creating media, the execution of a final product will forever trump it's ideas and concepts. Also I'll end on this note, there are a lot of elements here that would have probably been changed as the show went on. There wasn't really a "concrete plan" on how we were going to show the story, so a lot of it was done by feel. (Fun Fact, hobo funnie show 1-4 was completely adlibbed by me, there was never any script for anything other than plot points for the lore)
Some Closing remarks: I'm very proud of the work I was able to do with the series, especially with the hobo ad comp. It was a really good exercise in developing my skills as a story teller and animator. I'm making this post because I know won't ever return to it. I have no spite or anything towards my time spent on it, it's just now time for me to do other things with my life lol. I wanted to say that I wasn't expecting the outpour of support from everyone on this decision, and I'll forever be grateful that my work has inspired so many of you. I hope the people who have seen my work are trying to pursue something creatively now. I've said this before, but this will probably be my last post on this subject, and from me in general. I'll still be doing things in the animation field someday, It'll just be from me, instead of hobo.
Thanks again for watching, Again, if you do find this and were a fan of the Hobo Funnie Show, You really did make that series fun for me.
(oh one last thing.... cards on the table, the YT link in the Ad room in hobo Ep 4 lead to a video on youtube of a guy shitting his brains out in a bathroom stall really really loudly. The link doesn't work anymore though lmao.)

2024.03.01 00:39 jgheatman SPOILERS Chronological Rewatch Pt 1. (Blaire/Gina, Torn Apart, Flight 462, and Fear S1)

The Ones Who Live lit an insanely large spark of excitement for the franchise I've loved since the beginning (hence, you've been seeing me around here this week, lol). It has made me want to rewatch everything, finally. I have gone back to watch things here and there, but for most of it, I have seen it once. I have always wanted a chronological rewatch, so this felt like the right time.
I plan to watch everything, including the webisodes, and listen to the podcast that came out with Fear. I do not plan on playing the games since most are mobile or don't add much. (I stand corrected if I understand incorrectly.)
I also rank the content as I watch it, so when I finish the full rewatch, I should have my personal, purely subjective ranking of the TV Universe. I also thought it would be fun to share my thoughts as I gon this journey and maybe encourage others to go for it. I am not sticking to a strict schedule and just watching when possible. Let's start this!
NOTE: I am using the WIKI Chronological episode guide for my order. I placed the podcast where I felt it fit best because it was not listed.
Blaire/Gina (Tales the TWD S1 E2)
Listen, I understand why this episode ( heck, most of this season) did not work for some. I really liked this episode when I first watched it, and my thoughts on it haven't really changed. I love the risks they took with. The two leads really grew on me over time, and I wouldn't be upset to see their story continued elsewhere, maybe in some webisodes. TWD needs to take risks to keep making content, and whether it works or not, it is a fresh air of breath.
Torn Apart (Webisode)
The webisodes were so exciting when they were first introduced. Our introduction to expanding the world of the apocalypse through the perspective outside of our characters. The story literally tears apart the viewer's hearts as we see the origin of the bicycle girl walker that Rick infamously puts down during the series premiere of the TWD. Hannah does everything to protect her family as the outbreak occurs in King County, ultimately sacrificing her life. The emotions and connections made in such a short time are a testament to the writers and actors.
Pilot (Fear TWD S1 E1)
The first full-length piece of spin-off content. While we have spent our time on the East Coast with the main series, Fear took us out west. This also gave us our earliest look at the apocalypse and allowed us to watch the breakdown of society unfold from the perspective of two families connected by a Father, Travis. Watching this again, I was reminded of how tense it was knowing what was happening but our characters not, and on top of it, to mistake Nick's concerns as side effects of his substance abuse. Taking inside the school was also brilliant. I really wonder what it would be like nowadays with our access to quick sharing visual content like TikTok. This episode takes its time, but the edge-of-your-seat nervousness builds up throughout it, making it one of the most tense episodes.
So Close, Yet So Far (Fear TWD S1 E2)
I have to first say that, for some reason, the title just always jumps out to me, haha. This incredible episode follows up on what made the premiere great. The interactions between Madison and Tobias are incredible. The start of the collapse of society with the power going out and the riots makes the chaos even worse. This episode takes the frantic tension from the premiere and dials it up ten more notches. And by fate, Travis and his family are given shelter by the Salazar family. I cannot imagine the show without Daniel and his family, I forgot they were introduced so early.
The Dog (Fear TWD S1 E3)
This episode is insanely good, dealing with the major theme and discussion of the humanity of walkers as the main characters debate whether they are alive and sick or simply dead. The reunion and merging of the families is great and adds to the conflict of differing opinions. Daniel puts Peter out of his misery when Travis demands Madison to put the shotgun down when Daniel takes it upon himself. Also, we have some fantastic foreshadowing with Madison telling Liza to put her down if she ends up like Susan ( her neighbor who turned) because Travis could not handle it. Oh, little would they know what would happen in the finale of season 1. The Military gets introduced at the end of the episode, giving some much-needed hope that will be realised was false hope. Once again, on opposite ends of the spectrum, Travis has hope, and Daniel believes it's already too late. We also get a tease for what would be Flight 462, with Nick seeing it in the air crashing.
Flight 462 (Webisode)
This series of webisodes was so much fun and terrifying giving us the perspective of the outbreak during a flight. We get introduced to Alex, later seen in Fear TWD S2 as this aired leading up to the premiere. Overall, it doesn't do too much, but it is a lot of fun and expands the world, even if it's a smaller expansion.
Not Fade Away (Fear TWD S1 E4)
This is easily my least favorite episode of Season 1 of Fear. In my spreadsheet, I have a section in my rankings to note significant events, and there really were none for this episode. It is a major character-focused episode that, while being good, really did not do much. I can see this being an episode I would be told to skip, but as a completionist, I can't, haha. By the end, the military takes Griselda and Nick to a hospital against their will, away from their loved ones, leading us to the end of the season.
Cobalt (Fear TWD S1 E5)
This episode isn't bad I just think the others are stronger. This episode has incredible moments with tons of tension in the hospital, the introduction of Strand, and the revelation of Operation Cobalt. We also continue to break down the structures of society with Daniel torturing Adams, doing what he needs to do to find his loved ones and protect them, as well as Madison and Travis's Family. Griselda passes, and Liza puts her down. This very much is a setup for the finale, and usually, pen-ultimate episodes are my favorites in the TWDU, but I think with this being the first season, some of the earlier episodes and even the finale steal the spotlight.
The Good Man (Fear TWD S1 E6)
What an explosive finale! We have the escape/rescue mission from the hospital as they attempt to flee with the knowledge of Cobalt, the massive horde that attacks the military, and the tease and reveal of Abigail. To top it off, we have our first major character death as Liza reveals she was bitten. Wanting Madison to put her down using the same reasoning that Madison told her episodes ago,"Travis would be heartbroken," but of course, Travis discovers the truth and does it himself. Our characters are rocked and experience the harsh reality the closest so far to them. I absolutely love the teas of Abigail at the end and showing the water. It was new waters for the franchise, having spent most of our time with the main show in forests and urban environments.

Wow, if you read most of that good on ya, I don't expect people to unless they want to go on the journey of reminiscing this amazing franchise and my little commentary. I will probably continue to share my thoughts as I go along next, being Radio Waves (Podcast), Dead in the Waters (Webisode), and Fear TWD S2. If I post again, I'll probably split S2 in half so it's not too much.

Here are my rankings so far (favorite to least), and I am curious what people think about these episodes when you first watch, after re-watches, or whatever. Remember, we are the ones who live! ;)

2024.02.04 00:59 SoftieQwQ [TOMT][YouTube] Webisode series/shorts following colorful troll-like characters

It was a webisode series I'm pretty sure I watched in the early 2010s on YouTube. There were these characters who I think were trolls but I'm pretty sure weren't and im only calling them trolls because thats the closest i can think of them. I only really remember 2 shorts, one where 2 trolls were racing against eachother and against a snail thing that was going super slow, and it kept cutting to the snail thing which one because even though it didn't do a full lap it was the first to cross the finish line. And the second was a troll I think was fire themed but i could be wrong which kept playing pranks on all the other trolls and pressed a button which led to a trapdoor and caused it to get a bunch of pranks pulled on him instead. The last thing I remember is I swear the main themes one had something like 'Trollific!' Or 'Trolltastic!' In the intro but I have no idea

2023.11.17 16:23 nymphpixie More info on Isi DawnDancer in Frankie's Diary (LONG)

More info on Isi DawnDancer in Frankie's Diary (LONG)
(I'm Indigenous and graduated from first year Indigenous studies in uni dw) I recently discovered that although Isi appeared in only one webisode, she does have a whole book about her from Frankie's perspective. It's something I need to read again, but my first impression is that the author seems to respect Isi. Isi doesn't have her visions like in the webisode, but she does hint at it very subtly. She also acts a lot more like a typical high school student and wears a flowy minidress when she's introduced. Even though she's still stereotyped as an animal lover and understander, I on an individual level can relate to this only because I'm traditional and have had connections to animals. (my bff said I was like a Disney princess cuz animals approach me so easily) I've researched Deer Woman enough to know Isi is almost certainly based on Deer Woman, although I'm uncertain if Isi is disrespectful depiction of the Deer Spirit. I'm uncertain because Deer Woman was also a story explained to children and teenagers, as almost to persuade them to not do bad things. Kind of like the Bogeyman. (why Isi and Twyla are obviously ghoulfriends, they are similar that way) Deer Woman just seems like it's also a story/spirit to be developed the same way other lore is developed in other cultures, like the mermaid siren or bogeyman. Deer Woman seems to make sense to choose for Monster High.
I think the main, most important downfall with Isi is that not one Indigenous person who understands the full story was in the writers room. The credit of Isi's story should have ultimately been an Indigenous person's idea from their invaluable knowledge about such an incredible Spirit. I don't even know the full full story of Deer Woman because there's different versions of it in different tribes, so there's more reading that needs to be done.
I've been considering taking Isi on as an in depth research essay project. I have an elder I can visit at uni, so maybe I can take it up with them and see what their thoughts are. If this interests you at all or if you have more information then feel free to comment and leave resources.
The last thing I'd like to mention is that I relate to Isi DawnDancer and the Deer Spirit a lot. My given Indigenous name is StarDancer, Deer have been a huge part of my life recently, I've been using dreamcatchers in Isi's colour palette since I was a kid because I have nightmares, and my mom's favourite colour has been turquoise so I've seen a lot of that colour around her home. So I low-key like Isi :'))) definitely not every Indigenous person feels represented by her, or likes her at all, so don't take any of my own personal opinions as fact for everyone. Respect every Indigenous person's thoughts on it, because Isi is problematic and I hope she is redesigned by multiple Indigenous academic writers, knowledge keepers, cartoonists, fiction writers, etc. The company could afford the budget I'm sure, and they've already employed some(2?) Indigenous peoples to help write another Indigenous character in G3.
I'll link resources about Deer Woman below...

2023.10.19 07:30 NRoszxO Dean Strang & Jerry Buting.

For the past month or so, I’ve been rewatching MAM S1 & S2, reading up on old posts here on TTM as well as I’ve been watching Temp’s webisodes on YT, Mindshock Podcast, Foul Play I mean you name it. Mindshock had done a recap of J Buting & Dean Strang’s defense of SA. I’ve been going down a rabbit hole I can’t get out of. So bear with me here..
When I first watched MAM, (years ago when it debuted before any YT channels were born, before FOIA requests & documents were shared & Foul Play had an extensive library of pretty much everything & anything you need), I thought Dean & Jerry tried their absolute hardest to present a substantial defense for SA. They seemed like honorable men, who not only took on SA as a client, but Dean & Jerry also took a personal stance with BD caring about his defense or lack there of during the Len/O’Keilly circus & Jerry specifically has always been a spoken advocate for BD since the trial & his conviction, showing up to his 7th Circuit hearings, spearheading on Twitter, (X). I still believe they were honorable officers of the court, maybe sometimes naive to just how much power the State & their resources were, & weren’t as effective in their counsel of SA. I always believed they were up against powers who couldn’t be outgunned or out powered, (such as when Willis when he made the decision not to allow Denny to apply to SA because he could not prove that anyone had more motive & opportunity to commit the crime) as well as the state withholding the Veile CD report until an unreasonable amount of time & although the state decoded the report themselves to determine its contents, they didn’t send the decoded report to defense expecting themselves to decode the CD’s themselves as well as deceptively naming it “BD’s Computer”.
A part of Zellner’s job is to seek any grounds to immediate & warrant any relief possible. Hence going after the state’s special prosecutor, Uncle Ken due to his unethical application of law & facts, withholding evidence that would’ve been favorable to the defense of SA in 07’, such as the pelvic bone & the set of HUMAN bones that were found on quarry property belonging to Manitowoc County, not the Radandt Quarry as stated by KK at trial & when the AAG gave “unidentified bones” back to the Halbachs for proper burial, yet every report by Eisenburg references these bones as human, not unidentified & thus several of these bones had cut marks. Which the states theory was that she was burned whole. I’m going off on a tangent, but I’m going somewhere I promise.
The next claim she made was ineffective assistance of counsel & we saw on full display her plans in S2. She claims Dean & Jerry failed in hiring expert witnesses such as a blood spatter expert, stating that Denny didn’t apply to them & so on. Along with their theory involving SA’s blood through the EDTA blood vial that the FBI concluded was not the source.
Moving on, I watched the Mindshock Podcast where they covered Strang/Buting. Some assertive claims were made that made me think. Such as that they were planted agents of the state such as Len Kachinsky to tank the defense because of both Dean/Jerry’s connections to bigger people at play that might have wanted the case to go the way it went. A link between Jerry & the Attorney General of WI, Peg Lautenschlager. Before, I hadn’t heard of this & I’m just wondering if any of these claims I guess hold merit or any weight.
Dean & Jerry seem to be a hot button topic for some & for others maybe not so much & truly believe no matter what they would’ve done, nothing could’ve changed the outcome. Especially with some of the jury members being family members of others in law enforcement & being in relation to others that may have had a conflict of interest. That causes concern to me because wouldn’t they have done their due diligence to seek out a jury who at most had no familiar ties, unfortunately with the media this case got & the hanky panky fishy stuff going on back door with the jury, something tells me it wouldn’t have mattered. Why didn’t they seek an out of county jury?
I guess for me I’m conflicted but still lean on the side of hope & give them more leeway than most the individuals since I believe what they were up against is an organized mafia & a judge that undoubtly favored the prosecution, hence why every time KK had a hissy fit, he knew Willis would clean up.
Just looking for current thoughts on Strang & Buting & why you would feel that way. Maybe there’s more that I don’t know about or remember, so I’d like to hear others thoughts on this as well.
Sorry for the long winded post but hopefully some of you enjoy the read. Thanks!
Edited to add: TL;DR below in comments.

2023.10.04 06:32 DotComprehensive4971 SPOILER: question about storybook of legends

MAJOR SPOILERS:
Disregarding the books and diaries and going off the continuity of the webisodes/animation, isn't raven the only person in her class who technically signed the storybook of legends legitimately (to gain her full power in Way too Wonderland)? The one on legacy day was most likely fake since the Evil Queen had already hidden it previously, so is Apple White's signature null and void? I am new to this series, and now I am obsessed with it, I just thought this was interesting and wanted clarification.
Plus I am a sucker for tragic irony so I want to accept this because the biggest anti storybook person being the only one to sign it is funny to me.

2023.09.04 06:51 Ok-Psychology-1 Absolutely obsessed with this show!

Wow! Just finished the series. I watched the full series first and then the webisodes second. I can't believe that this show isn't more popular. The intimate slices of life, the expert character building, the humor, the raw and real humanity, the music, everything is just executed so well. I laughed and cried a lot. So spectacular!

2023.07.25 20:00 izzysaid do you guys think bratz will actually have a long running rebooted series?

i just wanted people's opinions on this!
do you really think the august 31st tease is for a full time show? i think it would be so great, but after what happened with talking bratz, i'm not so sure they'd even keep up with it. if they have 4 minute webisodes, i also feel like it wouldn't be long enough and dang i just really miss their full episodes!
also what are your thoughts on the chances of the ps2 games being rebooted? i was a bit unsatisfied with the switch game, i wish it was more like the games i played as a kid and just overall lasted longer. or at the very least, have the free open world after completing the game like bratz the movie video game did

2023.07.01 12:29 PetrosOfSparta Why was A.T.E. Never used again?

I think the “Active Time Event” (ATE) system is used in Final Fantasy IX, is a rather genius system that allows you to see as much or as little of the character development, side stories etc in Final Fantasy IX, as you want. It also allows occasionally for some unique rewards, should you watch them.
To me, A.T.E. is a huge part of is what made FFIX’s character development, so exceptional. In the past I’ve called it, taking the characters from A to B through C and then ending in D rather than just A to B like many big ensemble, video games do, even my personal favourite in the series, FF7, often just has a five minutes of fame sequence to flesh character out, their backstory etc. where the characters get focused on for their little bit. But IX has constant exploration of the self as a theme at its core and A.T.E. can be used to delve into that further as the story progresses.
The ATE system is a narrative device that can really only be done in video games through the interactive element, traditional books and movies outside of Webisodes, or something like that, which require you to leave the main piece of media, simply can’t give you optional bits of story the way this game did.
My only feeling about why this wasn’t used later, is that perhaps the jump to full 3-D environments and camera movement, made it more expensive to do each cut scene, especially with voice acting, not just simply open this pre-rendered area, Add some speech text, add some minor character animation. It wasn’t as simple to add little character moments anymore.
My other theory, is that perhaps they felt they didn’t want people to miss out on things, or it wasn’t cinematic enough, or perhaps simply that Square Enix has with almost every entry since FF9, been seemingly on a quest, two reinvent everything from scratch, and this is one of the things that got left behind.
What are your thoughts?

2023.06.28 17:21 StoryArcher Ideal MCU Viewing Order (all properties - updated)

[Note: This is an update from an original post located here:
https://www.reddit.com/MarvelStudiosPlus/comments/sy0kxg/the_ideal_viewing_order_for_the_mcu_all/
Full explanations as to why where each show and film have been placed where they have as well as detailed information on additional properties and when/where they should be seen has been moved to a document that may be viewed on One Drive, linked at the bottom of the post. This was necessary due to length.]
Greetings again, friends. Not long ago I embarked on a project to teach myself video-editing by planning on editing together the MCU into a continuous series of roughly one-hour episodes with seasons of 12 episodes each. The first part of that journey was to determine the ideal viewing order. For the most part, people tend to approach the series either from a chronological order or a release order, both of which are understandable but are also ultimately flawed due to the unwieldy nature of such productions. For those who enjoy binging the MCU properties or are relative newcomers to the franchise and want to know where to begin, I thought I'd offer that order here. While it somewhat follows a chronological order (with notable exceptions), the primary intent is to smooth out the narrative flow, letting the combined films and shows truly come alive as a single shared experience.
Now, the overall version that I'm putting together for the edit makes some additional cuts and changes, particularly with regards to post-credit scenes, one-shots and so on, but that's probably best suited for another post. For completionists I do include all of the additional viewing recommended in the in linked document at the bottom of the post. This document explains in detail why each film was placed where it was, and includes the original release order and official chronological order as well.
1) Captain America: The First Avenger
2) Iron Man
3) Incredible Hulk
4) Iron Man 2
5) Thor
6) The Avengers
7) Thor: The Dark World
8) Guardians of the Galaxy
9) Captain America: The Winter Soldier
10) Iron Man 3
11) Guardians of the Galaxy 2
11a) I am Groot, S1 & S2 (D+)
12) Avengers: Age of Ultron
13) Doctor Strange
14) Ant-Man
15) Captain America: Civil War
16) Black Widow
17) Black Panther
18) Spider-Man: Homecoming
19) Ant-Man & the Wasp
20) Thor: Ragnarök
21) Avengers: Infinity War
22) Captain Marvel
23) Avengers: Endgame
24) WandaVision, S1 (D+)
25) Falcon & the Winter Solider, S1 (D+)
26) Spider-Man: Far from Home
27) Loki, S1 (D+)
28) What If?, S1 (D+)
29) What If?, S2 (D+)
30) Loki, S2 (D+)
31) Spider-Man: No Way Home
32) Hawkeye, S1 (D+)
33) Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (D+)
34) Thor: Love and Thunder
35) Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3
36) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
37) Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings
38) Dr. Strange & the Multiverse of Madness
39) She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, S1 (D+)
40) Echo, S1 (D+)
41) Moon Knight, S1 (D+)
42) Miss Marvel, S1 (D+)
43) Secret Invasion, S1 (D+)
44) The Marvels
45) Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania
46) Deadpool & Wolverine
Not included yet because they just don't have a home in the continuity:
xx) Eternals
xx) Werewolf by Night
It should be noted that, when viewing in this order, there are a couple of post-credit scenes which could be considered spoilers or would simply be outright confusing (specifically the ones for Black Widow and Ant-Man & the Wasp). Those inconsistencies are well addressed in the overall edit I'm putting together but remain outliers in the recommended viewing order.
For those who are interested, I have a detailed explanation as to why each production has been placed in the order that it has as well as an extensive breakdown of additional viewing, including exactly where all the other Marvel Television properties (Agents of SHIELD, the NetFlix Marvel shows, The Runaways, etc.) and promotional releases like webisodes should be viewed in the order. Rather than hammer you all with that wall of text, the document may be viewed at the link below, but please leave any questions or comments here (or feel free to DM me directly) and I'll be happy to answer.

2023.06.17 22:18 af-fx-tion [Partially Lost] Battlestar Galactica (2004): The Face of the Enemy enhanced webisodes with Jane Espenson's Commentary

I'm hoping Reddit can finally close this saga that has eluded me for years!
The enhanced versions of Episodes 7, 9, and 10 for the Battlestar Galactica (2004): The Face of the Enemy webisodes are (as of now) completely lost, with this specific version of this release partially lost. These enhanced versions differed from the normal release due to including Jane Espenson's commentary and have "with writer's commentary" subtitle on each episode title card.
Background:
Battlestar Galactica: The Face of the Enemy is a ten-part series of webisodes that was broadcast in the mid-season break of season 4 of Battlestar Galactica. These were released digitally only due to the 2007-2008 WGA strike.
Due to the outcome of the strike (which affected creator compensation for web-based content), the webisodes were not included in any home video release worldwide until the Japanese Season 4 Blu-ray collection in 2013 (which is still the only way to watch them officially in any format as of 2023). This release did not include the enhanced version commentary track.
Based on various contemporary reviews, these enhanced versions were available on Syfy's old SciFi.com website, Amazon Ubox, and I think Hulu. At this point, they are not available on any of these platforms.
Current Status: Partially Lost
Due to time and removal of the episodes in general being available digitally, these enhanced versions are not officially available.
At this point they are considered partially lost because:
There's one YouTube account who archived these episodes 14 years ago, but copyright strikes seem to have taken down Episodes 7, 9, and 10 only (unless they are in hidden to those with US IPs).
The original SyFy page was archived on archive.org but requires Flash to play anything.
The Search:
Unfortunately, the YouTube archiver no longer has access to their original files so is unable to re-uplod the missing episodes. These are also unable to be found via sailing the high seas. Jane Espenson also does not have copies of them either. Blu-Ray.com users who bought the JP Season 4 release of the series have also confirmed that the commentary tracks are not included.
Full caption/summaries of the commentaries also do not exist. The closest is a short summary of each episode commentary by a LiveJournal user who posted it in 2009.
So yeah, hoping we can make this a found piece of media by finding those last three enhanced webisodes!

2023.03.26 21:32 Sethuel Kings Playoff Odds Update 3/26

Sorry I'm a little slower today than usual--we decided to head up to the farmers' market at Arden Fair. First artichokes of the season! First spring onions of the season! Morels for $25/pound! What a day! Capped off by breakfast sandwiches at Ginger Elizabeth's in midtown, I must say I'm feeling full and happy.
The other part of the delay is I've been doing some fun math. As far I can tell, In order for the Kings to miss the playoffs, this is what would need to happen:

March 27, 2023 Clippers beats Bulls (at Clippers)

April 11, 2023 Kings lose Play-In at home vs 8 seed
April 14, 2023 Kings lose Play-In at home vs 9/10 Winner

If literally any of those 35 games (33 regular season and 2 play-in) go a different way, the Kings will be in the playoffs. So if you're trying to imagine all the ways the Kings can still blow this, I have good news. This exact schedule is literally the only way the Kings can still blow this. If you're wondering how many possible ways there are for 35 basketball games to go, the answer is 2^35, which is 34,359,738,368. Of those thirty-four billion possible combinations of outcomes for these 35 games, there is exactly one combination that will result in the Kings missing the playoffs.
It's a bummer the Sixers didn't cooperate last night, it would have been quite a party. But we'll have to party today or tomorrow or whenever it happens. Suzy and I went to the game last night with our friend Karuna. Not the most well-executed game I've ever seen, but good enough to get the W. It's really nice to see Huerter going nuts again. One additional fun thing is that as we were walking in there was a crew making a little webisode for the NBA app about De'Aaron Fox. My body type is best described as "non-threatening" so I'm usually the guy who gets stopped by strangers on the street when they need directions or whatever. I guess that extends to giving quotes for a Foxy video. Anyway, keep an eye out for a forthcoming "Pass the Rock" video about De'Aaron Fox, and my face possibly filling up your phone.

Hey look I'm on TV!
Anyway, wins the last two days have actually given our chance at the 2 seed another boost--we're back up to about 40%. The Grizzlies still have some easy games, but the Houston series is behind them, and they still have two against a Clippers team that has a lot to fight for.
We're also now back to 50 wins looking very realistic. In fact, the 538 ELO model (on which this is all based) says we have about a 60% chance at winning 50+.
There's some new movement in the first-round opponent matchups too, as the Wolves are now the second most likely opponent. I saw a post this morning about how their size and length aren't the best match-up for the Kings, which is true, but honestly every one of these teams brings a lot to the table. The playoffs won't be easy. But they'll be here and at least for now that's the most exciting part.
I decided to scratch the Clinch date table because the way the code was set up, it thinks we've already clinched a playoff spot. I mean for all intents and purposes we have, but also that 1 in 34 billion chance is still larger than zero. The division is still basically a done deal even if it's technically still possible to blow it. My code simulates the rest of the season 10,000 times, and we lose the division in 14 of those.
Anyway, I guess let's go Warriors tonight so we can clinch in our building tomorrow?

2023.02.07 19:24 pbj__time DHMIS (TV) - All Questions Answered

I have devised a theory which I believe explains the entire premise of the DHMIS TV show through symbolic and thematic connections.
(TLDR is above the conclusion at the bottom of this post, warning it contains spoilers for David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive and of course the entirety of DHMIS)
PREFACE
This is a theory which connects aspects of Film Theory's DHMIS theory and the film Mulholland Drive (directed by David Lynch), both of which I suggest checking out although I would only insist on watching Mulholland drive before reading this, as spoiling yourself on one of the best movies ever made is a crime, and watching the film will give you a deeper understanding of this show's lore as I see it. I just thought of this whole theory while laying down trying to sleep and it has kept me up all night as it is such a universal theory that I couldn't help theorycrafting and was unable to sleep, so here I am getting this theory down so I don't fall asleep and forget all these details that make me feel so happy because I feel like I finally understand this show which I love with all my heart. Without further ado,

PT. 1 - MULHOVEN DRIVE
Since growing up on youtube videos like the original DHMIS, I have fallen in love with other experimental films, chief among them the works of David Lynch. As the new DHMIS season released, I immediately felt a similarity to both the absurdly existential and absurdly humorous energy of Lynch's work, but at first glance I thought it had to be coincidence, or at most just stylistic influence. The only part of the show which felt like a clear Lynch reference was the sequence where the spirits of the show's previous episodes' hosts were seen being dead, yet also alive, in an impossibly large dark void floored in black in white, especially with how the episode this occurs in is titled "Electricity." In order to avoid more spoiler tags, I will not elaborate on how this connects to Lynch's filmography, but if you know, you know. However, I believe I have found an actual allusion to the thematic symbolism of Lynch's film Mullholland Drive, and yes, as the title suggests, this is seen in the scene "Mulhoven New Town."
Film Theory's theory speculates that Lesley is the creator of the DHMIS world and that she has created this world in order to escape from the trauma of her son, David, dying in a car accident, and that the windows in her room represent the objects that need to be interacted with in some specific sequence in order to free the puppets from their eternal purgatory. Personally, on first watch, I found the theory semi-plausible but something seemed off. If Mulhoven was simply Lesley reliving her son's death, why was the absurd imagery the series is known for still present? Why is duck seen as a duck-dog hybrid? Why does a clergyman gift Yellow Guy a baby bird? Why is there an absurd amount of people packed into the neighboring houses? Buckle in, I'm going to explain it all.
First of all, a revisiting of Mulholland Drive's key symbolism is in order, and I will try to make this as brief as possible, last spoiler warning for this top tier experimental film, seriously watch it before reading this if you haven't yet, it is a masterpiece of surreal horror akin to DHMIS. Mulholland Drive is the story of a woman named Diane living in Hollywood who is traumatized by a moral and emotional corruption of her passion, filmmaking. Because of this, Diane escapes into her own mind creating a surreal absurdist world where everything is different, yet the same. Her world she creates in her mind, or dreams, is full of things which often do not make logical or analytical film sense, yet when connected to the real world narrative of the film, show clear symbolism and meaning. The key symbols which need to be discussed here are:

  1. Mulholland Drive & The Car Accident
This street where, in Diane's dream, during the first scene after the opening credits, a woman experiences a car accident which begins her journey through Diane's imagined dream world. Mulholland Drive is also the street on which Diane, at the end of the film in the real world, experiences what's basically a waking nightmare where her worst dreams come true and her former lover sexually humiliates her in traumatic fashion. These two events, along with another line in the dream containing sexual undertones and mentioning of a car accident, show us that the car accident represents the final straw of trauma which breaks Diane's mind and forces her to wake up from her imagined perspective of the glamorous innocence of Hollywood and experience the reality of feeling helplessly intertwined with an oppressive system of traumatic abuse.

  1. The Blue Box
This is an object which is the key symbol to understanding the dream logic of the film. Diane leaves her dream world by going inside the blue box and waking up. What is inside the blue box varies, but all of its contents link to one thing: repressed trauma. First, the blue box is seen to have pitch black darkness and is found in a duffel bag with a large amount of cash, symbolizing both the dark nature of Hollywood's soul and also the obscured nature of Diane's trauma. Next, it is shown to have the old couple which helped Diane get her start in show business, who break into Diane's house in surreally absurd fashion and drive her to suicide by violently laughing and accosting her. This symbolizes the guilty memory of Diane's promising start to her career which she feels she has let down as rather than using this start to find success and happiness, she has ended up being led to misery and trauma by show business. She also possibly feels insecure due to the old couple's happiness, as she has not made them proud in her eyes and she cannot feel happy like them due to her trauma. Finally, the blue box is seen metaphorically twice by my count. Diane's real world home is a cubic house painted blue on the inside, and is where she lives out her relational trauma which leads her to escape into her dream world. The "Sylvia North Story" movie set seen in the dream sequence contains a scene where a woman is singing in a blue recording studio about the "16 reasons why I love you." The scene continues, and we see that this woman is not really singing, the recording studio she is singing in is just a set, and that even the audition taking place is not really happening, it's fake, as it has been fixed to have the role given to a specific girl by a dangerously influential and powerful producer. Overall, the Blue Box symbolizes the truth which Diane runs from in order to live in her imagined reality: Hollywood is not a city of dreams, it is a city of manipulation, fake love, and abuse, and Diane has experienced all of this trauma firsthand while living in Hollywood trying to make it as an actress. Once Diane accepts this truth at the Club Silencio scene, she is given the key to the Box's lock, and is able to escape from her imagined reality.

HOW THIS CONNECTS WITH DHMIS LORE
Mulhoven New Town is the key to Film Theory's DHMIS Theory, and while I dont completely agree with his theory, I think he is definitely onto something. I agree with his proposition that Lesley has imagined DHMIS because she is running from the trauma of losing her son, David, who used to watch DHMIS-like shows, but the similarities between this theory and FT's theory end there. The Mulhoven scene definitely feels very important to the mystery of DHMIS, it has a different tone from the rest of the show, and I believe this is because it is an allusion to Mulholland Drive, showing us what trauma Lesley is running from and therefore what truth she must face in order to escape her imaged reality. Mulholland is obviously similar to the name Mulhoven, and both are names of places where a car accident occurs, which you might remember symbolizes trauma in MD. The all-important blue box also makes an appearance, as the clergyman, potentially symbolizing spiritual hope, who offers yellow guy the baby bird present offers it to him inside a box, which when opened in an incredibly similarly framed shot to the MD box, is revealed to be painted blue on the inside. This baby bird then leads yellow guy to his car accident, which then sends him out of his imagined experience of Mulhoven and reveals that the bird is actually the one who was in the car accident. This, to me, shows that the key to leaving DHMIS is for Lesley to face the truth of her trauma, which is the death of her loved one. However, I don't think David necessarily was hit by a car, as FT theorized. I believe the car accident (and the Lesley easter egg on the transport car) is simply an allusion to MD and at the same time an allusion to the car which yellow guy is currently inside dreaming up his Mulhoven sequence (is this theory meta enough yet?). How do I know David is her son she lost? While looking for a connection between that episode, Transport, and episode 3, Family (for an explanation why I did this see section Assimilation), I noticed that duck and roy are seen next to each other as two of the many neighbors peeking out at yellow guy from the windows. Duck, as far back as the first webisode, but ESPECIALLY in the new season, has always been associated with death. In fact, duck being in the window and at the same time a duck-looking thing that is not quite duck (duck-dog) being there is an allusion to episode 2, Death. To me, both of them being next to each other in this surreal dream-like sequence symbolizes that the trauma that Lesley runs from is a family death, as roy clearly symbolizes family to yellow guy and duck symbolizes death. The blue box even literally just contains a child bird, which dies in a car accident. I don't think it could be more clear that this scene symbolizes the family death which drove Lesley to escape from reality inside the imaginary world of DHMIS. Optional side note (SPOILERS FOR WANDAVISION): The neighbor's houses with all the staring eyes also reminded me of WandaVision where people under control of all powerful magic are forced to live in captivity living out scripted lives for the purpose of helping the puppet master escape from the grief of the death of a loved one. I imagine this could symbolize all the teachers and other puppet citizens of DHMIS which are seen living in a type of purgatory when the power goes out in E6, trapped inside of their home yet eerily silent.
Now that I've finally gotten all those thoughts out in writing, I can explain my biggest disagreement with Film Theory's theory. I do not believe that the windows in Lesley's room are hints to how the puppets can escape DHMIS, as I do not believe the universe functions as a sort of digital program and rather as a dream-like imagined world. I believe that each window is simply a hint to the central mystery of the show, the backstory. The shovel symbolizes how she cannot accept the loss of a loved one, similar to how yellow guy could not accept the loss of Duck and dug him up with the shovel. The Chuddie Ds represent how Lesley cannot accept no longer having her family, akin to how the puppets couldn't open them until they accepted themselves as enough of a family, even if it meant not being a traditional, blood-related family. The batteries represents how she created this world by putting all her mental energy into this trauma-blocking imagined world, akin to how the fresh batteries give yellow guy not only physical energy, but great quantities of mental energy. Therefore, I believe the book of truth simply contains the details of the traumatic death which led Lesley to escape into her imaginary world, creating the three puppets and all of their teachers from her memories of her son's favorite shows in order to rebuild her mind concept-by-concept until she can learn and accept this trauma which she cannot face. In the meantime, bits of the truth will often leak out of the facade due to sheer emotional power, similar to in Mulholland Drive.

(from DHMIS Ep 2 - Death)
"Memories help me remember him, the things he did, the life he lived" - Yellow Guy(David?)
"Some people think we're in a simulation, it's interesting just to think about that!" - Stain Edwards the Forever Boy
(from DHMIS Ep 4 - Friendship)
"Does any of this look real to you? Or does it, in fact, look more like a made-up place in your head?" - Warren the Eagle
To me, this leads to clear explanation for almost everything of notable importance in the show's catalogue of mysteries, for example: the random scary parts of the show? That's Lesley's trauma bubbling up to the surface in nightmarish bursts of tonal dissonance. The show's adult humor despite its childlike format? It's Lesley's sense of humor, as she clearly has a wicked dry taste (see YOU'RE NOT MY REAL SON). I'm also realizing that Lesleys sudden bursts of intense emotion remind me heavily of another trauma-blocked Lynch character, Sarah Palmer from Twin Peaks. The puppets' cognitive dissonance not always remembering the past episodes? It mirror's Lesley's state of cognitive dissonance. This all just makes too much sense to where I would be shocked if this didn't turn out to be true, as much as I'm not a huge fan of the idea of the DHMIS TV show being a trauma-blocking dream-world created by a grieving mother, it just makes all the sense tonally, and this is a storytelling type which is not common but has much precedent especially in modern surrealist films, so I can see the showrunners pulling off a further exploration of this lore exquisitely if they keep up the incredible mood and imaginative aspects of the show. You'll notice I'm only referring to the TV show, and this is because I don't know if this backstory lore would apply to the webseries as well, but seeing as they seem to be connected, it very well could be. I know for a fact this next part is.

PT. 2 - EDUCATIONAL ASSIMILATION
Ok so this is a complex passage which in the grand scheme of my lore theory, isn't as important as everything previously written here. However, this train of theory-thought led me to making the MD connections and also is just a really interesting detail of how this imagined world functions, so I'm including it for the DHMIS super-fans who want to know every little bit of interesting lore & symbolism.
Continuity in this universe has always been a mystery, but I think I've figured it out by just obsessing over this show and knowing almost every line subconsciously due to how many times I've watched it. My continuity theory is that every concept taught in a previous episode or webisode of this series has been assimilated into the show's universe, and therefore into the rebuilding mind of Lesley post-trauma. I don't know if this applies to the universe of the original webseries (I will edit this post in the future if I find this to be true), but it 100% does to the TV show, including all concepts from the webiseries assimilating into each episode of the TV show. Dreams is the toughest one because it can refer to either imagined experiences or aspirations, but I'll put examples for both, also I'll try to include health as well, as it is similarly a second concept taught in the Food webisode. Let me explain:

1 - JOBS
-Duck Creates a sculpture-creature which is destroyed as it is too different from what the job wants him to create
-Duck experiences a huge leap forward in Time when visiting with the CareHound
-Yellow guy falls in Love and starts a family during this period of time Duck travels past
-Duck has a musical sequence inside of a digital world which is inside of a Computer (also Duncan is working on a computer but I'm not sure if that's even a real computer or just an etch a sketch or something)
-Vending machine, it's a vending machine, we all eat lunch from a vending machine, some people say it's not real Food (because it's not Healthy)
-Red and Yellow guy both experience living out full careers and lives, but in the end it amounts to a figment of their mind and they did not truly live those lives, they seemingly just Dreamed the whole life up. Duck's Dream is to have a job, as he feels meaningless doing nothing.

I hope you can see what I mean now, and the rest is more of the same, but the conceptual connections to things as seemingly unimportant as absurd jokes and shock humor is massively impressive to me, it must have taken forever to write this script and still have it feel fun and unpredictable, hugest kudos to the gods who made this show. Now you'll see, the previous episode's concept, jobs, will show up in the next episode, and every episode after, and the true complexity of this conceptual assimilation will reveal itself.

2 - DEATH
-Stain Edwards is the embodiment of Creation, and the puppets use him to Create a duck clone
-Duck keeps tallies of the Time he's been inside the coffin using his...fingernails or something??? Ducks don't have fingernails as far as I'm aware, LOL
-Stain mentions how in their future adventures that "maybe we'll even fall in Love!" Also, Red and Yellow guy clearly Love Duck despite his abrasive personality, as seen in the memories song and their inability to accept his death
-Duck plays his song he made on the Computer for the coffin
-The mourners offer Yellow and Red consolatory Food in the form of a sandwich wrapped in a tissue, in an attempt to help them process Duck's death Healthily
-Duck's coffin montage shows both the Dreamed experience of him working at the factory and other experiences which he did not actually live out. Yellow and Red guy's Dream is to have Duck back.
-In the memories of Duck, he tells Yellow guy about the military twice, which is a Job even if it's not a conventional job.

3 - Family
-The family Creates a new mother out of Yellow guy
-The family has "family game Time!" and "bed Time!"
-"I Love my family and they like me!"
-(I'll admit this one is a bit of a stretch, as are a couple more here, but the vast amount of non-stretch conceptual links makes me feel a lot better about ones like this). The family tree represents DNA analysis Computers, as no other thing could function in the real world in the same way the family tree does, analyzing ones blood to teach them about their family.
-This episode has three obvious links to Food, the chicken, the Healthy apple, and the Chuddie Ds
-Duck Dreams up how it would be to have his own family, ending with a fight and flipping the dinner table. Red's Dream is to connect with his family.
- Also, Father gets home potentially from his Job, but he might not have a job, as he clearly doesn't have a lot of money, given the old TV and the necessity to get a mother in order to get a discount. Therefore, acquiring a new mother is the family business (or their Jobs), given how they do it for financial gain.
-"Uncle Terry Died!" Also Duck causes the Death of a bread child (traumatizing the mother might I add. Oh yeah and you feed bread to Duck, so the trauma symbol is fed to the symbol of Death)

4 - Friendship
-Yellow guy Creates his world of brain friends because he is so sad he escapes into his imagination(more clear meta symbolism damn). Also the initial OK STOP scene shows the crew Creating the scene we are watching while it...
-Rewinds Time!
-Yellow guy's maiden name is Rat Eyes, referencing a previous marriage (hopefully born out of Love) and also there seems to be Love implications with the way My First Tooth interacts with him, asking if it can smile at him, it reminds me of uptight love culture like hijabs or sexually repressed Christians.
-Computers is free this episode, Computery guy is literally a main character and is also used as just a normal computer separate from his identity as a character.
-The captchca contains apples galore, a Healthy snack, and even an entire Food marketplace, also inside Yellow Guy's brain is an edible trophy.
-Warren's Dream is to have a restaurant style meal with friends, and to be an Eagle, and Yellow Guy Dreams up the brain friends to cope, and eventually dreams his imaginary older brother being right next to him.
-Duck ruins the captchca Marketplace worker's Job, and I think Warren's job is an okay stop guy, or his job is to run a podcast, or maybe some other business which he is talking about in his podcast.
-The Death of shy imaginary older brother also applies to the concept of Family.

5 - Transport
-Red guy Creates a new lesson and in effect a new episode, Transport, when he aspires to leave the house. This is proven by the Time Child, who was the original idea for the day's concept, and also by the shoddily-made state of the Transport teacher, given that he had to be Created last minute and under huge time constraints.
-To me, when Duck and Yellow Guy teleport instantaneously in between rooms, it portrays how the puppets exist outside of Time. In the Time webisode, the final message was how despite all the horrors they endured, the puppets are still alive. They did, and did not die, because their absurd lives exist outside of the linear constraints of real world time.
-Yellow Guy experiences the same kind of event that spurs him on his quest in the episode 3 webisode: he feels like he is not Loved because his friends aren't considering his feelings, (in the webisode because Duck kills the butterfly, and in the show because Duck gets a super nice and even entertaining seat while Yellow guy gets basically nothing) so he imagines a world in which he is Loved, in the webisode he imagines the Love song, and in the show he imagines Mulhoven.
-The GPS Computer is unhelpful similarly to the computery guy in the webseries. Also, they break out of their digital world made inside of a Computer when they enter the junkyard.
-Duck gets free Food in the form of a raisins, a Healthy snack.
-Yellow Guy Dreams up the Mulhoven sequence, and Red Guy's Dream is to escape the infinite horrors of his world.
-Mulhoven contains a police officer bit, along with the Hoover salesman, another Job spotlight.
-Yellow Guy witnessed the Death of a bird and kind of himself?
-Roy, Yellow Guy's Family, is seen twice in the episode, including the easter egg in Mulhoven which originally led me to making the Mulholland Drive connections.
-The puppets sing on the road about having such great company on their road trip, implying that they are good Friends, although they also are bad Friends to Yellow Guy in the car, so both teachings about the puppets' friendship apply here, that they are enjoy each other's company but also are pretty toxic friends at times.

6 - Electricity
-If my interpretation of the lore is correct, this episode reveals the canonical Creator of the DHMIS universe, and Duck also Creates a new lesson (not sure what to call it, maybe existentialism?) when he replaces Yellow Guy's batteries with Electracy's. Also, smart Yellow Guy creates his own spatial distribution puzzle.
-The mirror version of Yellow Guy Time travels to the previous episode through Yellow Guy's reflection in the car window, maybe hinting at the nature of the temporal dissonance is due to the trauma associated with David. Yellow Guy also seemingly travels into the future when he enters the big and bigger boy's room, implying that the lowest DHMIS floor is the furthest in the past, which connects to the trauma-blocking universe theory.
-It is implied that Duck and Red guy Love each other when they enjoy staring at each other in the dark. Also, Duck Loves his shredder, as is apparent tonally and is confirmed in his heart-bordered picture of it on his car window in the previous episode.
-The shredder contains a Computer, as all digital shredders do, and this computer destroys the truth, as the internet unfortunately often does nowadays. Also Duck reveals he has a Computer phone for emergencies only.
-When Electracy is low on power, smart Yellow Guy gets her some Food as he postulates that her blood sugar might be low. He was worried about Electracy’s Health.
-Yellow Guy's Dream is to understand the nature of his existence, as it is seemingly the only thing he does not yet understand. There are no clear allusions to an imagined experience in this episode apart from the obvious lore connection that this episode reveals the one who Dreamt up the entire DHMis universe.
-It is Lesley's Job to conduct each episode, seen in how she gives the book of truth to Yellow Guy only to just have it shredded when he went back down. She would never let her one of her favorite creations leave if she could help it, so she gives him the book to bait him into returning to the first floor in hope of helping his friends knowing that she can control duck to take out his batteries once he returns to the first floor.
-The Death states of almost all teachers and Roy is shown in the dark void section of this episode. Also, Red Guy is happy to smash the urn commemorating the Death of someone in favor of his electric urn, and Duck is glad for the Death of their drowned pet in favor of their new iDog.
-Roy's appearence and "YOU'RE NOT MY REAL SON" both connect to Family
-Lesley tells Yellow Guy "I'm sure you're going to want to show your Friends, aren't you?"
-Finally, This episode shows that, contrary to the twist at the end of Transport, there actually is a way for the puppets to Transport themselves out of this world, and it it by going up and away from the past, through the (assumedly final) door in Lesley's room.

TLDR: Akin to Film Theory’s videos, DHMIS is an imagined dream-like world created by Lesley which she uses to mentally escape from the trauma of losing her son, while also living in the past of the type of shows her son used to watch. However, my theory differs from FT’s in that i see the car accident scene as metaphorically connected to Mulholland Drive, a film which follows an extremely similar backstory, has a very similar eerie & surreal tone, and has three of the exact same symbols: a blue box which symbolizes a container of trauma, a car accident which symbolizes the beginning of this trauma-induced mental dissonance, and a similarly named place (Mulhoven, Mulholland) where said car accident occurs, and which each dream sequence is titled after. In the film, the protagonist escapes this dreamed-world by accepting her contained trauma symbolized by her entering the blue box, and therefore her real, non-imagined, traumatic reality. This, to me signifies that each of the three object-windows in Lesley’s room symbolize a different aspect of Lesley’s trauma-blocked state of mind: shovel - her refusal to accept death, chuddle dollops - her refusal to accept her newfound lack of family, and the batteries - her mental energy she pours into creating and maintaining the illusion of the DHMIS world. More evidence is found through repeated symbolism echoing this backstory, for example, a mother bread having to watch her child bread die in front of her (more examples found in this full post). This type of sudden burst of a traumatic scenario, along with all other bizarre aspects of the show, are symbols of Lesley’s fractured, cognitively and emotionally dissonant mind, which is another mirroring of the film Mulholland Drive. Lesley is using this world to slowly rebuild her “broken” mind concept by concept, and this is seen in the conceptual assimilation of each episode and webisode’s main subject of schooling into all future episodes’ plot and/or script (for all evidence of this, see PT 2 - EDUCATIONAL ASSIMILTION). The fact that I am using a seemingly unrelated work to decode this work may seem hard to follow for someone unfamiliar with the themes and symbols of David Lynch, but I assure you, the connections are absolutely crystal clear both tonally and in terms of the symbolism. Anyone familiar with the work of David Lynch (some of the best art of all time IMO right up there with DHMIS), will immediately see the connections I’m making here so I implore anyone unfamiliar or skeptical to check out Mulholland Drive and watch some of the popular explanation videos on YouTube, as the film has effectively been solved online years ago.
CONCLUSION
Alright, that's all I came up with laying awake in bed all night, I'm happy I got it all down in writing, as I really think this is an incredibly plausible theory. Please share your thoughts, ideas, and criticisms, I'd love to hear them. Kudos to anyone who read this far, and especially to the people who checked out Mulholland Drive, I hope you loved it as much as I do. If you did, I would heavily reccomend Lynch's other masterfully surreal and dreamy work, the ones I've seen being Twin Peaks, Eraserhead, Inland Empire, Lost Highway, and his vast collection of short films, commercials, and more of that sort of differently-formatted films. Twin Peaks is my favorite show of all time and I don't know if anything will ever top it, although a digital marketplace release of this DHMIS show could pass it up, I could see that happening *wink wink give it to me becky & joe please love you guys*. Also if this theory is right, put dubstep somewhere in the next season and then I can finally die with pure validation and accomplishment OR you can just send me a blu-ray of this show + Wakey Wakey, either one works for me.
