I was a recovering finsub. Years ago, I was financially abused by a Mistress who used a debt contract to systematically extract as much money from me as possible. While I was able to get out of the contract, it took almost every cent I had. In the end, I paid double the original amount due to all the usury terms.
I told my cautionary tale online and received a lot of comments. Most of the feedback was from Dommes and they were generally supportive. One was so touched by my experience that she wanted to help me out. She proposed that I enter into a contract with her. It wasn’t a typical debt contract. It was an arrangement where I would give her a lump sum of money for her to invest with. After a set time period, she would return the money to me. And whatever returns she made through investments would be hers to keep. It seemed like a zero-risk way to engage in findom.
She drafted up a lengthy contract. As she was a paralegal, this came naturally for her. But the 24-page contract was overwhelming for me. She summarized it for me so I could easily understand. I would transfer $50,000 to her account. After 6 months, the $50,000 would be returned to me minus a “variable maintenance fee” starting at 2%. Since she was only keeping profits, she reasoned the large initial amount was necessary to make it worth her time. And at 2%, $1000 seemed more than fair to serve her for 6 months. We agreed to the terms and we both signed the contract.
At the end of every month, she sent me statements detailing the financial performance of her portfolio. I could see she was very savvy financially. I always looked forward to these statements and watching her wealth grow.
When the 6-month period came to an end, I asked her how she would return the funds to me. To my shock, she told me she wasn’t going to return it, at least not at that time. She was exercising her option to extend the contract for an additional month. When I protested, she pointed to a clause that either one of us was able to do this unilaterally. She also reminded me that exiting the contract required agreement from both parties, despite what the original time period was. So without a mutual agreement, by default the contract would keep extending for an additional month. And each monthly extension required a special maintenance fee from me.
I felt the situation was dire. These extra maintenance fees, while minor, would eat into the initial funds. But that soon became the least of my worries. After three more months of having the same conversation, I had the sinking feeling I was never going to see my money again. That’s when she seemed to take some pity on me and suggested a way we could end the contract sooner rather than later. Although she had been investing aggressively, she wasn’t quite at her financial goals. She told me an additional $20,000 from me would expedite things. Figuring I only had to temporarily send an additional $20,000 to get all my money back, it seemed like a good deal. So we amended the contract from $50,000 to $70,000. I transferred $20,000 to her account.
I didn’t know exactly how much faster it would be, but I didn’t expect it to be a year. In that year we never talked. She did keep sending me monthly statements, but I eventually ignored those as I completely lost interest. I had mentally made my stand. I was no longer going to give her any more money. I was no longer going to be her fool. But my proud moment was for nothing. I knew she had the last laugh.
After a year, she unexpectedly contacted me. She let me know that she intended to end the contract, assuming I would agree. We subsequently signed the exit clause. When I asked about the money, she dropped a bomb on me. I was not getting my money back. I, in fact, owed her another $24,893.49. It was those variable maintenance fees. She expressed surprise that I didn’t object whenever the percentage changed, which was within my rights. I quickly scanned through the statements from the past year. The percentage had been well over 2% for a while. And month after month, the fees were cumulative. The fees were also compounded with interest. I neglected to realize that once the fees had dwindled the $70,000 to zero, I was actually on the hook to pay the fees every month.
I sank in despair as I couldn’t come to grips with the math. Knowing I didn’t have $25,000 to spare, she proposed a straightforward solution: a standard debt contract. In the end I would end up paying at least $95,000 in total to a Domme who was trying to help me. She suggested we just round it up to $100,000.

Hello,
I am a 29M, looking to start in the Fall of 2025. Not sure about FT or PT yet. I have had an interest in getting my MBA since 2018. I graduated in 2019 with my undergraduate in business administration from a university that some people have maybe heard about but it’s not that well known I guess. For extra curriculars, I was heavily involved in the Project Management club and eventually became president.
For work experience, I would have about 5.5 years of work experience by Fall of 2025. Pretty progressive in terms of responsibilities, impact, etc. I started as a contractor for one of the B4 and I am currently a FT for another B4 in a role right below that of a manager. In between that, I was a Product Owner 2 years at an Ecomm company. That is the role I am most proud of and probably going to be one of my selling points in my application because of the impact I got to have. I got to lead a lot of juicy projects with Accenture devs. One of the projects I was responsible for resulted in a 3 milllion year of year increase in revenue (I know that’s not a lot in the grand scheme of things, I am just proud of it, as the project fucking sucked and really tested me)
I am interested in moving into consulting just for a few years and then move into Product Management or a LDP.
My scores:
GPA: 3.8/4.0
Test scores: None yet, but planning on taking the GRE, will probably spend about 6 months preparing. Not extremely confident in getting a great score, so I am hoping the rest of my application will make up for that.
Letters of Recommendation: One from a Director in Product, one from a B4 Manager, and (possibly) one from a Senior Director at B4.
Schools:

I’ll try to keep this short but I really need advice. Basically I was accepted into a “bs/md program” in the Caribbean straight out of high school. I’m aware that these schools just want your money but I still wanted to give it a shot because of my parents.
Right now I’ve just completed the first year. This school basically has 2 years online and then 2 years in person at their campus on the island. I’ve never been interested in studying far from home but the one thing about this is that there is no MCAT requirement. On the island they “prepare” you for the USMLE and then help you match back home,, not entirely sure how it works but my parents told me not to worry about it.
To be honest I absolutely hate it. It’s so difficult doing everything myself with no support from any teachers or peers because there are none. Not to mention I’m at home 24/7. Home to me is not a learning environment and I have no social life now. I’ve talked to my parents about leaving this program twice now and somehow they always convince me to continue.
I genuinely want to quit this time and I have a plan but before I do that I just need advice from others if I really should quit. I more or less know how difficult and time consuming the traditional premed path is in the US but I feel like I’m not learning anything right now. This school that I’m currently attending has also allegedly lied about their match and pass rates and I don’t want to regret everything if I actually do end up going to the island. Some advice would be appreciated

One day, my friend told me (jokingly) to take the MCAT and go straight to med school since I'm basically always studying for some bio competition. Now although this isn't possible since I'm just a high school junior, I wondered how good I'd do if I took a test online. So I took the Blueprint MCAT diagnostic test (not sure of its validity, but I saw some posts saying that it's good) yesterday and got a 505 (125,125,127,128). I missed mostly ochem, physics 2 and psych vocab questions; the rest are just silly mistakes (aside from CARS) or things that I've learned in bio but forgotten since I haven't prepped in months.
Context: Over the past 2 years, I've gotten into bio and have read books on a wide variety of subjects with significant depth. Before taking this, I had no clue about the test format, timing, difficulty, question styles. Also, I haven't taken physics 2 (electricity, fluids, etc.), ochem, or psych. I did have some prior knowledge in psych since I did do a couple neuro competitions, but nothing for psych psych. During my senior year I'll be taking psych, physics 2, and ochem (at a local college).
Basically, I'd like to try getting a good official score (prolly gonna go for high 510s) during my senior year. I'm taking this purely for fun. Idk how far in advance you need to register, but I'll only do so once I'm getting decent scores on mocks.
Where do I start? What's the best way for me to go about this? What resources (Prep classes, textbooks, notecard sets, etc.) should I get? What score could I reasonably expect?

Dear Mighty One,
I see the Lord's eye upon us we discover by revelation the 'new thing' He is doing in our lives and of those of us who, beyond the present darkness, gaze into His eyes. The 'tuning fork' of Yahweh is orchestrating the sons and daughters of our living God in growing holy remnant unity to withstand as we stand with Him fearlessly in the boldness of the faith of God in this hour. Egypt is behind us, and the covenantal promises and prophetic words we have received (1 Tim. 1:18) empower us by His Holy Spirit to advance in warfare, humbly growing in the spirit of wisdom and revelation.

Yesterday as I encouraged some friends, I said, 'stay in the blissful extravagance of His presence.' Today I saw in Psalm 34 His eyes are upon us in vs. 8 & 9 and v:15 about the 'uncompromisingly righteous.' We are to be holy as He is holy. That leaves no room for any more compromise or seeking to please man or the traditions of men, being free of the fear of man, the religious spirit, and any demonic activity. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. Lord, help us understand by revelation to walk in all the authority we have been given by Jesus Christ.
Psalm 34:8-9 'O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.'
v. 15 'The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.'

Dear Mighty One,
I see the Lord's eye upon us we discover by revelation the 'new thing' He is doing in our lives and of those of us who, beyond the present darkness, gaze into His eyes. The 'tuning fork' of Yahweh is orchestrating the sons and daughters of our living God in growing holy remnant unity to withstand as we stand with Him fearlessly in the boldness of the faith of God in this hour. Egypt is behind us, and the covenantal promises and prophetic words we have received (1 Tim. 1:18) empower us by His Holy Spirit to advance in warfare, humbly growing in the spirit of wisdom and revelation.

Yesterday as I encouraged some friends, I said, 'stay in the blissful extravagance of His presence.' Today I saw in Psalm 34 His eyes are upon us in vs. 8 & 9 and v:15 about the 'uncompromisingly righteous.' We are to be holy as He is holy. That leaves no room for any more compromise or seeking to please man or the traditions of men, being free of the fear of man, the religious spirit, and any demonic activity. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. Lord, help us understand by revelation to walk in all the authority we have been given by Jesus Christ.
Psalm 34:8-9 'O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.'
v. 15 'The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.'

Ok, let's begin......
I now 30 yr old man, can say I was "Ackward" in school. My people skills were not the best and i was home schooled till 6th grade. So in school I was very quiet and really didn't have a lot of "good" friends. I really just drifted from group to group for six years. So the summer of my senior year I decided let's go to CAMP !!! The socially awkward nerd was going to spend a week with perfect strangers how much fun could that possibly be ?
Well, it turned out just fine.
I met some good friends who we will call, Sam and Cameron. We had similar interests and even found out we lived 45 minutes apart. After a week at summer camp we went make to life, but not before I was invited over to their annual end of summer bonfire at their house. Now this is where our fun begins.
This comes back to the story later.
As we get ready to go down into woods, it hits me, It's the awaking of an evil genius. I tell Sam, "Let me fake a seizure!" He stops dead in his tracks looks at me and in shock says "Do it !!"
So I did ......
We walk down into the woods, the moon is gone, just a bunch of flip phone flashlights and a lantern Sam is leading us with. It's so quiet, everyone is informed I do not have seizure this is a PRANK. The whole time I'm sweating tense, and then
Booo !!!
Two Halloween mask wearing teenagers jump out behind a fallen tree and I go down screaming. I roll, choke spit the drink out of my mouth like vomit and just shake and shake moaning "Mom". Sam is over me screaming a girl starts crying. Simon and Logan are terrified and start running for the house " we had no cell signal " Sam's nom is a trauma nurse. They run the half mile back to house with Tyler another kid. As they get into the yard. Tyler yells out "It's a joke"
They walk back threatening me never to do that again and we walk back to bonfire and end the night as friends.

A town of 250 people, two churches an abandoned old high school and long scar the length of town where the train tracks used to run though The town was surrounded by trees and farm ground. Just your typical Midwest town.Now Sam and Cameron lived on the edge of town surrounded by trees and the old train tracks and 1 old crackhead. Yes, a crackhead. Who would wander the woods and fields at all hours.

Now the day of the party theres 30 people at this party. I went and I really enjoyed myself. Played soccer talked to a girl and didn't feel scared even held a girls hand for the 1st time.Now enter Simon and Logan the practical jokers of this friend group. These two ruled the joke world and it was known they couldn't be be bet at jokes. So they decided to go down into woods and scare everyone when Sam says the go word. They left "early" and no one knew better. But then the neighbor was seen in the back of the property. Sam and Cameron give everyone an update to watch out for CH "crackhead" . I'm planning to go to Thailand at the end of Decembebeginning of January with a group of friends, but we can't decide where to go since we don't have enough time to hit all the major spots. I've heard a lot of conflicting things from friends and people online. Our primary goals for the trip are to party and enjoy the beaches and nature. It would be cool to take a tour of some of the temples and stuff like that, but it's not overly important. Since we'd be there over New Years I also want to know what would be the best place for that. I'm assuming one of the islands.
We'd prefer to do beach parties and bars instead of indoor night clubs since those are the same everywhere. Our initial plan is to do three locations for four nights each, but we could possibly do four locations for three nights each and/or add a day or two to our trip. We don't want to be spending too much time in airports (I've made that mistake before), but short ferries between islands wouldn't be an issue. Bangkok, Patong/Phuket, Ko Phi Phi Don, Ko Pha Ngan, Pattaya City, and Koh Samui are the places we currently have on our list.

My Bf (20M) and I (22F) have been together since 1.5 year, and live together. He is a living bf, not enough romantic for my taste, but thoughtful, sweet, kind, and supportive. For some context, we are in two different situations. I have my exams, and I work a lot for them. I know that I already have my semester but like my bf, I have pretty big goals and need to have the better grades possible. My bf however finished his exams 2 weeks ago, and wait for the results. He has very big goals (think that like a very selective school, a dream school) and is in law school, so more difficult than my field (human sciences). We've both pretty stressed. In top of that, I face some health problems since October, and if that didn't impact the rest of my live, our sex life is basically very slow and insufficient for the both of us. Now, the problem : my bf stopped being supportive. It's kind of a nightmare to live with him, he is always stressed, and very sensitive. Normally, is these situations, I take some work out of his plate, and make his life easier. But right now I can't, I'm too busy for that. He asks me all the time to share time with him (but refuse dates, want to stay home and watch TV), pressed me to taking time off and seems down when I revise. He is a little bit too pushy, and I feel like he didn't understand when I explained that I need time to prepare my exams. Yesterday, I asked him if he knows where was an important paper for me (we both fucked up, and if I misplaced that paper, he throw it away when cleaning). He responded in a very defensive tone, saying that I misplace my things all the time, and if this paper was so important, I would place that better, and if I followed his advices, the paper will be online. I was stunned. He spoke to me very aggressively, and I respond that I just asked, and that he doesn't need to spoke to me like a dog. He respound that his tone was okay, and that's it. Today, after an exam, I take a nap, and played near him, while watching TV. I played 3 hours, discussing with him, a pleasant time. After 3 hours of playing, he jokingly pressed the play button of my computer. He's not dumb, and anyone can understand that this can make me lost my progression. I reacted immediately, telling him to stop while he pressed two other times the button. I lost it, and tell him that he acted like an idiot, that he basically loose 3 hours of my time, and that it was not funny. He said other and other that it was just a game. We argued 5 minutes and after that, I concentrated for taking my progression again. Now, he won't talk to me, even when I pressed him for resolving the conflict, so I go to sleep. He followed me and take his pillow, and said that he is going to sleep on the couch. I'm tired. I don't recognize him. I'm stressed bc of my exams, but I m also exhausted from the situation at home. I’m almost 30 (F) and life just feels like too much lately. I’ve found myself in a deep depression and grieving my old life. I feel trapped and I don’t know how to move forward.
I’ve been married to my husband for almost 3 years and together for about 6, he’s military. We met in my hometown where we spent a majority of our relationship. We just moved overseas to Japan, from the US. This is my first real time leaving home and being away from friends and family. I grew up incredibly close to my family and my sister’s kids (they’re young and I miss them so much! I miss going to their school functions and spending time with them!) and my heart really feels stuck in my hometown. Familial ties are so important to me, especially as we start to consider starting a family of our own. I want mine and my husband’s families to know our kids and vice versa. I’m also really sad that I have given up my dreams and ambitions career wise as it’s not something I can pursue as a foreigner in another country.
My husband doesn’t care for his family - he loves them, but doesn’t feel he needs to be close to them. He didn’t necessarily have a bad childhood, but he wasn’t close to them growing up. He thinks our kids will be fine as long as they have mom and dad that love them - which I don’t disagree with, but I just feel like there’s so much more fulfillment and joy that comes from family and sharing life with others. Sometimes I wish I were still in my hometown, but I could settle for a different state so I could be close enough to visit and be more involved in each others’ lives. Being involved and visiting home feels next to impossible when I’m on the other side of the world, between timezones and the time and cost invested to even get away in the first place. Not everyone in my family has the opportunity or money to come here, so I feel like the saying “if they wanted to, they would” can’t always be the case.
This has caused some strain in our marriage, as my husband and I are seeing different visions of our future. He wants to stay abroad as long as Uncle Sam will pay for us to be here (he has 7 years until retirement, 3 of which will be in Japan, and ideally he’d like to spend the rest of his career overseas…7 years away just feels like too long for me), while I on the other hand, want more stability and to settle, just a little. I wish we could be in the states but that doesn’t mean we can’t still travel, still live our lives, do our thing. At least at this stage of my life, as we talk about kids, it’s important for me to be close. Maybe not forever, but for now. He’s been all over the world and I’ve never stopped him from his work travels and living life, so I can’t understand why him compromising and having us (me) be a little closer to home is so hard for him to give in to. Him wanting to be overseas isn’t news to me, we talked about it a lot - I’m just finding that now that I’m in it, I don’t know if it’s what I want long term. I could stick out the next 3 years if I knew we could go “home” after this.
He does not care and does not understand the grief I feel about being so far from home. We are also in the midst of a rough patch and not really getting along 100% of the time anyways. Sometimes I am scared our marriage is crumbling based on some toxic patterns arising and I’m really left feeling quite confused about it all tbh (kids are on hold until we can strengthen our marriage and find ourselves better equipped which also makes me sad because we want to be parents and we both feel the clock is ticking as we get older).
I also really see the blessing and benefit of having these opportunities to be overseas, and I don’t want to just waste it either because my heart longs for home. This is such an incredible, once in a lifetime thing that many people don’t get to experience and I really am grateful, but it’s hard. It’s lonely and it’s isolating. I go to work and go home and there’s nothing much outside of this base bubble that I exist in. But I also feel I’ll really regret only going home once or twice a year, to suddenly wake up to a phone call that one of my parents or a family member has passed. Am I really ok with that? Hardly seeing them and then the next it’s for a funeral??? I’m not ok with that. We only have so much time on this earth with our parents; mine are not young and my dad is not healthy.
I also spent a lot of time going back and forth between Korea and USA last year to visit my husband while he was away for a year, and had some sobering realizations that: life doesn’t change and the people that are at home are doing exactly as they always have: just living and going to work and doing their thing and it was such a weird, bizarre, surreal place to find myself in. Nothing changes, life goes on whether or not I’m there. Do I just find it in myself to not care, when I am someone that cares so deeply? People in the military community will say that family is always there but to live your life and spend your vacation doing something else. It feels so detached imo.
I don’t know. I’m just really struggling with what I want and where I want to be while seeing both sides of the same coin. I cry every day. Sometimes I just want to sleep the days away. I just want this pain to stop. Sometimes, when we’re busy traveling and exploring Japan, I’m really happy and thankful and feel like I got this! But then day to day, working at my job M-F, existing in this base bubble, so far away from the things that bring me fulfillment outside of my husband (because he can’t be everything?) leaves me feeling so empty. I wish I could find clarity in my ambivalence.

I’ve been married to my husband for almost 3 years and together for about 6, he’s military. We met in my hometown where we spent a majority of our relationship. We just moved overseas to Japan, from the US. This is my first real time leaving home and being away from friends and family. I grew up incredibly close to my family and my sister’s kids (they’re young and I miss them so much! I miss going to their school functions and spending time with them!) and my heart really feels stuck in my hometown. Familial ties are so important to me, especially as we start to consider starting a family of our own. I want mine and my husband’s families to know our kids and vice versa. I’m also really sad that I have given up my dreams and ambitions career wise as it’s not something I can pursue as a foreigner in another country.

She mainly does this online or when meeting new (usually lesbian) women who she wants to make friends with. Before we dated, she had been in a long term relationship with a cis man - it ended badly though. Besides this, she has also dated some women casually.
When we last discussed this, she rationalised it as a label she believed in politically and socially because it just meant “non-men loving non-men”. I’ve since voiced out my frustration that she still uses “lesbian” because it makes third-parties, especially strangers, think I’m still a woman. Additionally, she still finds it hard sometimes to say boyfriend as opposed to partner (which is also fine). She did mention as well that she would rather date a trans woman over a trans man, which made me shocked.

Hi! I’m a rising sophomore at an ACC school. After graduating high school I didn’t think Greek life was for me, but since entering college, I’ve felt a lot of FOMO from the party scene as well as feeling like I’m missing out on “girl world” (I grew up with 3 sisters and went to Girl Scout camp every year) and so I decided to rush this fall.
I went through COB with 5-6 sororities this past spring but did not find a match or sign an mraba. I dropped all of the sororities, they did not drop me. I truly did not connect with any of them and do not want to find myself at any of these chapters on bid day this fall.
Over the last year I’ve become really close with one chapter on campus. I’ve attended 2-3 of their functions in the past semester and would call myself an acquaintance/outside member of a 10ish person friend group within that sorority. One of my closest friends is in this chapter and this sorority has a huge amount of members that are in my major or on the same scholarship as me. I'm a 23yo working full-time living at home with my mother (40s) and 3 younger siblings (19, 17, 17 ; all with high-functioning autism) and it feels like everyone in this house is so goddamn incompetent. Because of how everyone else is, it feels like I constantly need to be the one to "swoop in" and "save" them from whatever it is. It's hard to elaborate the extent of just how BURNT OUT I am living here because it's been years of things bothering me, and I'm very close to reaching my breaking point. (TLDR at bottom)
My main stressor is my mother. My mother is financially incompetent and owes me THOUSANDS of dollars to help her pay for rent because she literally does not know how to budget her money properly. It's nearly impossible for her. I've even went out of my way to help her create a budget NUMEROUS times, and she's never stuck to them. She hasn't asked me to help her with rent in months now, but occasionally will ask me to pay for our groceries (cool, alright) or the whole family's phone plans (uh). Both nowhere near as much as rent of course, but it's concerning me that I'm like a backup plan for my mother, because what is she going to do by the time I move out? I'm not helping her with her finances by that point. I've had friends tell me to just say no to giving her money for rent/food/phone, but my thought process is "then where is she going to get the money from? we'll lose our home. we'll starve. we won't have phone service," etc. It feels like I HAVE TO or we'll struggle. And if I can't help, it'll be my fault if things go downhill. -- Side note, she relies on me so much that she expects me to memorize her own log-ins for HER stuff. I come home from work one day and she's asking me how to log into her fucking Verizon account??? How TF would I know your password holy shit bro. Extra side note but my mom has even asked me to get a mortgage under my name and have her pay for it so she doesn't have to pay for expensive rent anymore?????? Like it's hard to really summarize what I've dealt with with her within just the past year man. lol
My 19yo sister is finished school, but unemployed. My mom has asked me many times to help her find an online job, which first of all, why the hell am I finding HER a job, and second of all, how the hell am I suppose to find her an online job that's legit and doesn't require either some form of hybrid work or degrees? She has no skills and no specific career path she's interested in that's guaranteed to make good money. And the reason why my mom is particular on her having specifically an online job is because we don't trust her to take public transit or walking on her own to her job because she doesn't pay attention at all to her surroundings. She doesn't familiarize herself with where she's going when we do go out. Besides all of this, it's stressing me out that it feels like I need to constantly baby her at her age telling her to clean her own room and do her chores, when she literally does NOTHING else in this house but play games and sit on her ass all day on her phone. She does nothing productive but will have the audacity to tell me that a few dishes and a couple large pots and pans is "too much" to do at once when cleaning dishes. Or will tell me to "hold on" while she's in the middle of a game because I'm telling her to do chores she should have already done.
My brothers who are both 17 are still in school but struggle with their classes. I'm not really frustrated with them as I am with my mother and sister, but it's an additional stress seeing them struggle in school and get upset and self-deprecate because they're failing, even though when I have told them many times over the years they can always ask me to help them out. But they never do. They struggle but ask for no help. There's only so many times I can lend a hand, but as the old saying goes "you can lead a horse to water but you can't force them to drink." I don't want to just give up on them and I want to see them succeed but like... what else can I do in this situation? Mom's too busy to help them (or honestly even check up on how they're doing in school lol) and sister's definitely not gonna help because she was in a similar situation when she was in school, even struggling to the point where she'd cry and beg to drop out, which I definitely did not allow and won't for my brothers either.
I want to leave so fucking badly but I don't have enough savings at the moment to move out with a roommate securely. I also worry alot that when I do leave, everything will crumble. My mother's barely taught my siblings how to actually be adults and they're probably just going to all end up being unemployed because my mom has no trust that they can have normal jobs and commute normally by bus/train. I worry for a situation where my mom is gone and my siblings are left scrambling unsure of what to do. I feel like it's partially my fault, but at the same time I recognize that I am not their parent and I deserve to live a life away from my household and worry about myself and my future. It doesn't feel fair man. I've been so patient with everyone. I've offered my siblings money incentives if they do their chores regularly and just do their work in school (I don't even care if they get all C's and D's, a pass is a pass. They did their best.) Howdy, folks!
I'm finally getting to play PF2E from the other side of the DM screen! My DM is running a homebrew rendition of Strixhaven and I've decided to play a Cosmos Oracle with the Astrologer background that is attending the school in order to develop his knowledge of magic and the cosmos, and to restore the reputation of his noble house through his academic excellence. I'm looking for some advice on how to build him to suit his story and not be too gimped, but he's definitely not optimized.
School
He's likely to go Silverquill while dabbling in Prismari and Quandrix, but I'm not 100% sure. He's got the ambition and drive for Silverquill, and his primary skills will be Deception and Diplomacy which suit, but he's a softboi that will struggle in the cutthroat competition. Could make for some good character development, of course. On the other hand, he's a very artistic soul with proficiency in Performance which suits Prismari. It still fits Silverquill since they're artsy too, and his art is focused around music and poetry, so this isn't a strong draw but it's there. Lastly is Quandrix, which actually has Astronomy as a major. That's the crux of his education, but that doesn't mean he has to be a Quandrix student, does it?
Domain
I'm drawn to Moon for a couple reasons. Firstly, Moonbeam isn't a powerful Focus spell but it is a damage die upgrade from Divine Lance with a chance to Dazzle, which is in theme with Spray of Stars and doesn't push his Curse so he'll have an offensive option to burn Focus if he's ever Overwhelmed or on the cusp. Secondly, even with +3 INT I'm really strapped for skills in order to accomplish everything I want him to be able to do. He's got every knowledge skill as a highly educated nepo-baby along with Deception, Diplomacy, and Performance for his core Face duties, but I also want to give him Craft because he's actually dead broke due to his house's decline and has to sew his own clothes to keep up the facade of prosperity. However, picking Craft means I don't have a spare point to throw at Stealth which feels necessary if I go with the other Domain, Darkness.
Cloak of Shadow is quite good, and for an Elf Oracle with -1 CON and +2 DEX, being able to Hide whenever and wherever will really help him stay alive in combat. The problem is I have to sacrifice Craft, which isn't a huge deal but a bit of a roleplay loss, and him being trained in Stealth is hard to justify for a noble whose whole job is to be in the public eye. TBH I'm really just looking for validation on choosing the RP over the mechanics, which I'm doing a ton already but I worry I'm going too far and could be a straight up liability.
Level 2 Class Feat
Cantrip Expansion is great. He's starting out with Divine Lance, Guidance, Message, Read the Air, and Stabilize at level 1, and for level 2 I'm thinking he'll start taking combat training more seriously in his early schooling and pick up Forbidding Ward and Shield. Add on Heal, Command, and Sanctuary and he can stay relatively safe supporting his allies without relying on Stealth.
Alternatively, Divine Aegis is normally pretty lackluster but since we're in Strixhaven, where he's surrounded by spellcasters, this seems like a uniquely suitable situation for it to really shine. I could perhaps achieve the same support combo from level 1 by sacrificing other options, but I'm not sure what to drop. Divine Lance and Guidance are staples for a reason, and make perfect sense for RP. Message is just too good to pass up, especially in this setting where subterfuge will be quite useful. Read the Air is arguably superfuous next to Guidance but also very thematic, so I could lose it but I really want it. I'm finally getting to play PF2E from the other side of the DM screen! My DM is running a homebrew rendition of Strixhaven and I've decided to play a Cosmos Oracle with the Astrologer background that is attending the school in order to develop his knowledge of magic and the cosmos, and to restore the reputation of his noble house through his academic excellence. I'm looking for some advice on how to build him to suit his story and not be too gimped, but he's definitely not optimized.
School
He's likely to go Silverquill while dabbling in Prismari and Quandrix, but I'm not 100% sure. He's got the ambition and drive for Silverquill, and his primary skills will be Deception and Diplomacy which suit, but he's a softboi that will struggle in the cutthroat competition. Could make for some good character development, of course. On the other hand, he's a very artistic soul with proficiency in Performance which suits Prismari. It still fits Silverquill since they're artsy too, and his art is focused around music and poetry, so this isn't a strong draw but it's there. Lastly is Quandrix, which actually has Astronomy as a major. That's the crux of his education, but that doesn't mean he has to be a Quandrix student, does it?
Domain
I'm drawn to Moon for a couple reasons. Firstly, Moonbeam isn't a powerful Focus spell but it is a damage die upgrade from Divine Lance with a chance to Dazzle, which is in theme with Spray of Stars and doesn't push his Curse so he'll have an offensive option to burn Focus if he's ever Overwhelmed or on the cusp. Secondly, even with +3 INT I'm really strapped for skills in order to accomplish everything I want him to be able to do. He's got every knowledge skill as a highly educated nepo-baby along with Deception, Diplomacy, and Performance for his core Face duties, but I also want to give him Craft because he's actually dead broke due to his house's decline and has to sew his own clothes to keep up the facade of prosperity. However, picking Craft means I don't have a spare point to throw at Stealth which feels necessary if I go with the other Domain, Darkness.
Cloak of Shadow is quite good, and for an Elf Oracle with -1 CON and +2 DEX, being able to Hide whenever and wherever will really help him stay alive in combat. The problem is I have to sacrifice Craft, which isn't a huge deal but a bit of a roleplay loss, and him being trained in Stealth is hard to justify for a noble whose whole job is to be in the public eye. TBH I'm really just looking for validation on choosing the RP over the mechanics, which I'm doing a ton already but I worry I'm going too far and could be a straight up liability.
Level 2 Class Feat
Cantrip Expansion is great. He's starting out with Divine Lance, Guidance, Message, Read the Air, and Stabilize at level 1, and for level 2 I'm thinking he'll start taking combat training more seriously in his early schooling and pick up Forbidding Ward and Shield. Add on Heal, Command, and Sanctuary and he can stay relatively safe supporting his allies without relying on Stealth.
Alternatively, Divine Aegis is normally pretty lackluster but since we're in Strixhaven, where he's surrounded by spellcasters, this seems like a uniquely suitable situation for it to really shine. I could perhaps achieve the same support combo from level 1 by sacrificing other options, but I'm not sure what to drop. Divine Lance and Guidance are staples for a reason, and make perfect sense for RP. Message is just too good to pass up, especially in this setting where subterfuge will be quite useful. Read the Air is arguably superfuous next to Guidance but also very thematic, so I could lose it but I really want it. Enlisted CG (shout-out all my puddle pirates), married (no kids) E-4 about to put on E-5 (monthly pay is just over $5,000). I have my degree but OCS isn’t an option since I’m colorblind. That being the case, I go back and forth on whether or not staying in is worth it. My wife and I want to have 2-4 kids, either put them in private schools and my wife would work or my wife could homeschool. Is it realistic to expect to be able to do that, save for retirement, and still have money left over? Right now with just my income and her not working (because of circumstances out of our hands), it feels difficult to have money to spend and still save $1,000/month. All input is appreciated!

NOTE: This guide contains a ton of gear and narrative spoilers
Most Sword Bard builds are either focused on either ranged or control + melee/AoE attack styles, and I wanted to explore whether or not it would be possible to take the best of both to make the ultimate martial all around build. This build features Sharpshooter with ranged damage of 20-30 per arrow and GWM + smite damage of 60-120 per single hit by the end game.
In addition to the primary martial strength, you gain the jack of all trades benefits of being a Bard, including exceptional social skills, relatively high charisma, good persuasion, deception, sleight of hand and stealth.
Early game, expect to play like any other dexterity/charisma bard, with the first 6 level progression on Bard alone.
After level 6 of Bard, we begin to level into Paladin, which opens the door for the character to start building up melee power. Truth be told, I may have respec'ed a few times between levels 6-10 trying a few things on for size, but the most effective strategy mid-game was:
Philosophically, the build is focused on fast nova damage to overwhelm a larger group by decimating them in the first 2 turns. High movement is key, we're always looking to surprise enemies, and taking advantage of stealth and invisibility to duck in and out of battle for the occasional "oh shit" moment or recharge of bardic inspiration.
Race choices include Wood Elf, High Elf, Duegar Dwarf, Half Orc, Gnome or Halfling. I've always opted for one of the elves, primary because of movement speed. The fighting style that has evolved for me throughout multiple solo runs now is that you are often fighting in retreat, and movement is key to manage this. If you're playing this as part of a party, movement is less important.
Levels 1-6 - Bard
Levels 7-8 - Paladin
We're really just marching towards that second feat here. Choose whatever you want for spells, I like Freedom of Movement, Greater Invisibility, Fear, Hypnotize. For this build, spells are tertiary to ranged and melee damage, so the focus should be on enhancements and prep spells for battle, not in battle casting against enemies.
Again, we're marching to our third feat but you can pick up some great Paladin support and control spells like Command, Bless, Protection from Good and Evil, and additional smites.
Early Act 1
I stocked up on tons of scrolls along the way, the most important of which were Haste, Remove Curse, Misty Step, Fireball, Lightning (+Chain), Mirror Image, Invisibility, Cone of Cold or other large AOE high level spells.

This resisting the dark urge run was my favorite playthrough so far, for both the narrative storyline, and how it played thematically into this build, with the choices between good and evil waffling back and forth along the way, ultimately leading to redemption. I think this is the best story arc of BG3.
I've considered a couple of other options for this build that I'd like to experiment with in the future, including ditching one of the feats and adding one level of War Cleric to get Sanctuary and Guidance. I will not lie, I save scummed a few times along the way and Guidance and Sanctuary would have helped me a bunch in those situations. However, it was rewarding to get the full martial with Tavern Brawler on Nyrulna in the end, will report back if I end up tinkering. Suggestions welcome!

Background Theme
The theme for the build is a resisting dark urge, with a desire for redemption to become the champion of Baldurs's Gate. And this theme weaves through the playthrough with items and choices along the journey, for example:- Getting branded by Priestess Gut and getting Loviatar's Love in at the Goblin Camp
- Saving the Nightsong (and Shadowheart) and forgoing the Spear of the Evening
- Becoming partial illithid in a quest for power
- In a moment of weakness, falling prey to the powers of Bhaal by becoming an Unholy Assassin at the Murder Tribunal, only to later realize that Sarevok and the tribunal must die.
- And finally rejecting Bhaal and giving up the dark urge powers.
Build Overview
The build centers around a combination of Bard and Paladin, with all three feats, for a Level 8 Sword Bard / Level 4 Oath of Vengeance Paladin. Feats are Shapshooter, Great Weapons Master and Tavern Brawler centered around Nyrulna for throwing + smite melee and the Titanstring bow for ranged giving absolute martial authority under almost all circumstances.In addition to the primary martial strength, you gain the jack of all trades benefits of being a Bard, including exceptional social skills, relatively high charisma, good persuasion, deception, sleight of hand and stealth.

As noted earlier, this build really doesn't come online until level 6, more so at level 8+. Prior to that, you're just an average ranged or melee bard, your choice. The end game goal is Level 8 College of Swords Bard / Level 4 Oath of Vengeance (or Oathbreaker) Paladin.Race choices include Wood Elf, High Elf, Duegar Dwarf, Half Orc, Gnome or Halfling. I've always opted for one of the elves, primary because of movement speed. The fighting style that has evolved for me throughout multiple solo runs now is that you are often fighting in retreat, and movement is key to manage this. Levels 1-6 - Bard
- Start at level 1 as a Bard with STR 8, DEX 17, CON 14, INT 8, WIS 10, CHA 16, and you should expect to respec at least once. Select Minor Illusion and Friends for Cantrips if doing a solo run, with a strong case to also be made for Mage Hand. If not for a solo, you have other options here. Longstrider is a key spell as well. For skills, optimize Persuasion (or Deception), Sleight of Hand, Stealth, and Performance, in that order. I chose Persuasion, Sleight of Hand and Stealth.
- At level 3, choose College of Swords. For spells, consider Invisibility, Cloud of Daggers (for some vital early AOE on a solo run), and Hold Person. You can also swap an existing spell slot here to get two of those three. Choose Two-Weapon Fighting for fighting style.
- At level 4, choose Sharpshooter for your first feat.
Levels 7-8 - Paladin
- At level 7, start with your first Paladin level. I chose Oath of Vengenance.
- At level 8, choose either Defense or Great Weapon Fighting as your fighting style. At this point in the game, I was playing with dual wielded shortswords with Knife of the Undermountain King as primary, but you could also play with Halberd of Vigilance, Mourning Frost or some other two handed weapon. Melee is less important still at this point, since we chose Sharpshooter as our first feat and primary fighting style. This is really about your secondary melee damage dealing, so whatever you prefer for the mid-game.

This is where the melee part of this build really shines and starts to outpace the already amazing ranged archer. NOTE: If you chose Defense at level 8, respec to choose Great Weapon Fighting.
Again, we're marching to our third feat but you can pick up some great Paladin support and control spells like Command, Bless, Protection from Good and Evil, and additional smites.
- At level 12, level 4 Paladin, get the Tavern Brawler feat and put your ability point in Constitution (kid of doesn't matter, I'll explain in a bit). I thought about getting Savage Attacker here for maximizing crits on smites, or even an ASI into Strength, but ultimately wanted the flexibility of using Nyrulna as a solid throwing option and I'm glad I did. I might go back and try the other two options at some point.
Gear Guide
Not extensive, but I'll list out the important items I picked up and used along the way, but place an asterisk by absolutely essential itemsEarly Act 1
- Ring of Protection* - Worn pretty much the entire game, best ring in the game IMO (don't @ me)

- Doom Hammer* - Absolutely essential for any solo of Myrkul to prevent healing from Reaper's Reward ability.

- Gloves of Dexterity* - Essential to the build, worn throughout the game since the build was based on dumping DEX in the spec.
- DeathStalker's Mantle* - Durge item only, essential to the build to go invisible after a kill.
- Boots of Speed* - Worn pretty much throughout the game, I almost feel are essential for a solo run. These are top 3 items for me all game for any solo run.
- Periapt of Wound Closure* - Essential for me mid-game to have healing potions max heal. I wore throughout act 2.
- Club of Hill Giant Strength - This was essential before Gloves of Dex purchase
- Disintegrating Night Walkers
- Knife of the Undermountain King
- Mourning Frost
- Unseen Menace
- Caustic Band
- Risky Ring* - I wore this most of the game as well, with some situational exceptions
- Cloak of Protection* - This was swapped out situationally with the Deathstalker's Mantle throughout the game, really the only two cloaks I used.

- Helmet of Arcane Acuity - used surprisingly little, but had to mention
- Nyrulna* - Essential to the build, couldn't do this one without it unless you went full evil and did Shar's Spear of the Evening, but that goes against the theme here.
- Bhaalist Armor* - Essential to the build to get the smite damage maximized from Nyrulna.

Other Misc Tactics and Potions
I used Potion of Speed, Elixir of Bloodlust, Elixir of Viciousness, Invisibility, and various posions/toxins for weapon dipping throughout the game. Bloodlust was easily the most important for a solo run, I tried to put it on after as many long rests as possible, followed closely by speed potions and invisibility on a per battle basis. BA Poly Sci/History, MS National Security, American citizen going back between USA and South America. Former High school history teacher. Current online tutor digital nomad. I love teaching this really not desired and unprofitable subject called history/geopolitics. My knowledge in this field is autistic level sharp. I got tired of teaching to HS students because there is no interest in 90%. My props to those who do. 20 years ago it would’ve been clear to get a PhD. Now, everyone says do not. But I love this field and can teach it well. Oh here’s the problem - I’m 39 and not wealthy.
Is there anyway I can work on a PhD relatively quickly while working full time? Hybrid classes? Or am I just absolutely cooked? I think I’m done for but why TF not ask Reddit first.
